How's he been to the dealers? Did I only have one incident? There's only been one incident so far where we had to stop the whole table. He asked the pit boss to go check the cameras. We had to shut everything down ended up getting removed from the table. I will say he was right. The dealer didn't deal me in. Then murls miss blackjack because they forgot to deal me in and murls lost it on the guy. And then I lost it on murls. Just wasn't happy. That's what you got to do back to him. Oh yeah, just right. He goes, this isn't your fucking table. It's my fucking table. Murl said that. No, the dealers said that basically. Yes. The boss goes, I want all the cameras, check cameras check. We ain't playing another hand until the cameras get checked and we get this figured out because you had your money down ready to go and he just didn't deal your car. Yeah. Had my money down was sitting there and he just like didn't look to me and murls was like, whoa, and he kept dealing. He kept dealing then stop. Murls didn't stop. Didn't stop. So the next card after murls hits blackjack and murls was like, whoa, like that was my card. That was my blackjack. Murls should never ever. I don't want to hear him complain about offside and and goalie interference reviews because every time I'm at a blackjack table with him, we're going to the cameras at one point. He's going to run. He's going to the cameras once a time at a table. He's always, I want, nope, I want to go to the cameras. So for a guy who's, I think, dog, goal tender interference and offside review, he's a, he's an instant replay guy at the casino. He has a video review guy check it. Yes. I would say that if you go to video review and you slow down the table and create a fiasco, if you're wrong, ban, instant ban from that casino, never come back. But he's not doing it in the top of like 50,000 that you can go to the cameras. What was he betting when when he went to the cameras? He, I think he had like 500 bucks on the table. So he wouldn't hit blackjack. That's a nice little hit there. Okay. That's fair. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, maybe he's going. He's not usually going to the, to the, to Toronto. He's not calling a Toronto unless he's getting crushed. Like if he's hot, he'll just, it's more like him calling a timeout. Well, he was dead. It was funny because he was like dead sober, too. It was like right when we sat down at the table. He just, how big of a defense, you know, murals didn't take a single drink and just be, can't had that like looking his eyes, where he's just like looking for it with the, with the dealers. That's the, that's the thing. Sometimes I have a hard time going to the table with murals, because he like demands everybody, he commands it like the, to be the guy. You kind of get like that a little bit too, but I do, but I'm, everybody get together. Everybody helps make the decision and keep it moving. I just hate when people are slow. Like keep them, keep them old Joe going. Some people it's just like, Hey, buddy, we're not here to fucking watch your 30 fucking minute hand blackjack hand. Like like, there's, why are you looking at me like that, bud? I, I, I think because I hate the way that some of you guys play at the blackjack table. How do you hate the way I play? I buzz, I buzz, but some people do some of you guys, I didn't say you, I don't, I get uncomfortable when murals is going out of it with the dealers. I get a comment. Fish commented. Murr was 100% right in this situation. That's fine. So that should be known. I guess that should be right. It was definitely right. Did he get his money? No, yeah, they gave, they gave him his money back. They ended the, they ended the hand, gave him his money back and basically we're like, get out of here, get off the table. Just, just, just, just please walk away right now. Like, like I'll say, like I'll say this, like if you're, if you're at the table and then like it hits 16 and then the guys there are like waiting like, what is the book? I don't want to be at a table where a guy's waiting every time he gets 16, like he's going to like somehow guest it every time. It's like, no, you just want to play by the book. If you play by the book, it's boom, it's hit stay. I just like, I like, I want it to be, I want it to go like that. I want it to be fast. I'm with you there. Yeah. I just think like I don't expect that because it's people's money. So then you're always going to have him in and hard, but I'm with you. But that's why you got to get the table with like the three, four, five of your buddies where you guys are all aligned and then you can go on a nice little run. So there's I don't do there's randoms. I think if you put like top 10 activities you can do with your buddies. I think that Blackjack would be on the top 10. You perhaps do. You perhaps the boys. The problem is with the crap. Perhaps it's like sometimes that other people come up. It's too easy for other people to walk up and then like, ah, they sometimes the mojo they bring in the attitude get the fuck out of my face. - Well, you go to the high rollers. - Oh, well, they don't let me in there. - Speaking of high rollers and just more content out of the machine that is biznasty, peak in season two. It began with a bang, literally and figuratively of the butter chicken stop. And I didn't know you, I'm not an Indian food guy. Never have been, never will be. But you apparently like it had never tried any though. You never. - I couldn't. I couldn't remember a time where I went to an Indian restaurant. You think there might be a friend of mine who was like, oh no, we went like four or five years ago and I was like, oh fuck, I don't remember that. But like, I think this was my truly my first like sit down full Indian experience where I got like the butter chicken. I can't even really name the other stuff. Like I have to call Wonton in here who's sleeping in the next room over. So he's probably losing his mind right now over this black jack talk. But yeah, he brought me there. He's a great, he's great at like finding restaurants and researching and really he like does a lot of the research for these types of peaking trips we go on and we just ended up doing Havasu Falls boys. I'll say, I think it's ranked as like top five like hikes in the United States. - Those pictures are not credible. - Yeah, no, it was unbelievable. So very hard to get these passes guys. Like you could go years without like trying to get it and then you just can't because there's a limited amount and it's actually the most expensive permit that you could buy as far as parks goes. It's a $450 permit to go there and get to enjoy this experience, which is a three night stay. So the way it goes is like, so it's actually not, well I know we call it peaking. Well, in this case, we call it seeking. We seeking because you actually have to walk down into the grand canyon, like a part of the grand canyon. So that's how it all begins. So it's in northwest Arizona, you drive to the Havasu pie trailhead. So like I said, door to door from Scottsdale, it's four hours. They have a cavern in hotel, our motel and like they have these like this like weird cave exhibit there that you can go see. So obviously Donnie found that when we went in this like old school cave and you'll see on the video that was kind of silly and they have like a wedding chapel down there so you can get married down there. There's like a room where you can stay, but nobody stayed there the last two years and I think they've like kiboshit because it's like two grand. Kind of a little pricey for their demo. Like the type of people going to get married in a cave and staying in a cave and you know. - 200 bucks. - It should be two cheaper than the motel. - Yeah, yeah. - Should be cheaper than that. So you stay at this cavern in place and then from there the trailhead is about like an hour. So you drive there, you leave your car and so for us. If we were going for the three days and we weren't in a time crunch, we probably would have brought everything ourselves but you can rent mules. So we put our, yeah, you can rent mules to bring your stuff to the like all the way down. So from the trailhead all the way to Havasu Falls, it's a 10 mile hike. So and then eight miles from the trailhead, there's a village like these Indians who they own land, like it's their land. They're the ones who charged the 450 for the passes. There's a little village there. And they like, for instance, we were going down to that unreal waterfall that I texted you guys. One of the ladders broke. So they're going there and they're fit. There was that it can hour and a half delay to go down 'cause you're going down these steep steps and like there's like chains where you have to hold while you're walking down and then there's a ladder part and a ladder broke. So they just go up boom, boom. They fix it and then you go on and enjoy your day. So pretty remarkable to see that these people have been living there for, I believe it's been about 800 years. And it's the only place in the United States or maybe even the world, probably more so United States, maybe other third world countries do it where the post office, like the post mail is delivered by Mule. Like to get it. - Okay, you rented to carry your tent and stuff. Like there's a five star donkey. - But keep it. - It's got an Amazon sticker on it. - Five two and a half years. (laughing) - Ah, I knew you guys would love the Mule. So they're Mules. So there's a difference. I think it's like when a horse and a donkey have sex, they make a Mule and Mules, like because of the way they're created by the crossover, they can't reproduce. So a Mule can't fuck a Mule and have a kid. Mules can't reproduce. - They're just there to carry stuff. - They're their new workers. They're fourth line grinders. They're there to open the fucking gate. They're there to pour your water. If you need it, you want the gatorade, okay. Over you want the Pepsi. Sure, I'll get you the Pepsi. Yeah, as you want me to tape your stick. I'll tape your stick too. But at least you were getting laid these four freaking Mules. They don't even get that. - Oh, you're true. - I don't know. Maybe they're getting at it at nighttime when they got their little break. - Yeah, they don't say they can't have sex. He said they can't reproduce. - Exactly, they don't have to buy rubbers. They're saving money. But so to rent the Mules to bring down some year supply, it's like I think 200 bucks, maybe 300 bucks. But keep in mind, I still have like probably like a 45, 50 pound pack on it with like food in it, your clothes for the three days that you're there. I always pack like a lot of socks. Like just so you want your feet dry all the time. I had an extra pair of shoes because you're going through. Like to, I'll keep going. It's explain like the whole like hike and what it provides. But so you start by going, you descend like essentially like a cliff where you park down into where like the Grand Canyon is. And then it's kind of desert like and it's wide. And as you keep getting closer and closer at narrows and narrows and narrows. So you're looking up and there's just these like walls that are like whatever, five, 600 feet. And it's like, you know, very, very beautiful. The lights hitting it. You got the red rock and then you don't get to water really until until you get like past the city. So you're not really seeing much water. So you got to obviously pack that. And then the have a few falls part that you see mostly like on the postcards and stuff. That's the first thing you see when you get there at mile 10. Like it's like, wow. So you get to jump in your obviously you're sweating your dick off because you just hike that that long. It's hot out in the middle that water that way. You so so there's like a filtering station where you can go fill up your bottles. But you're supposed to bring these like, you brought like these great filters at one time where you put the water and then you squeeze it out and it goes through the filter. And then it's drinkable just in case like it takes. I'll take the the few pesticides. I guess that would be in there but I will pass. So I thought that that was basically going to be it as far as the big waterfall. Well, Don read the comments about going camping at the back of it near Mooney Falls. So we walk about 15, 20 minutes from the start of the campground to the back of the campground. I would say there was like I said 250, maybe 300 people there camping. And you get the three the three days. And when you when you when you camp at the back, you all the sudden you walk about like 20, 30 feet. And you're on the ledge to the one that I sent you, which is Mooney Falls named after a guy who accidentally fell over it. And obviously kaboom. I mean, tough way to go, but at least you kind of get a landmark at named after you. And when you go when you walk down that, then you can walk another hour and a half to something called Beaver Falls. That was the other one that looked like these different layers where you can go and you can jump into the next pool, jump into the next pool. And the current isn't strong enough where it's just going to like push you over the edge. So you can actually enjoy like a chill area. And then if you want to go to the final destination, it's a three and a half hour hike past that. You can't camp at the final destination. It's actually where all those falls meet the Colorado River. So you can see it all come together. But that picture of Beaver Falls is crazy. The fact that this is in Arizona is shocking to me. Yeah, that's the thing too. And you're once again, you're in the Grand Canyon. So you have all these red rock, like essentially they look like mountains to you because you're so deeper to the crevice surrounding you. And it's crazy because there's in some cases, there were like palm trees down there. So there was like a tropical vibe. And so the vegetation you see when you go from like straight desert to all the sudden, where there's water and these crevices, it's pretty remarkable. Boys like I would recommend it to anybody listening. Like if you and your spouse are like you guys laugh at me, you can chop or in and out. If I could get like 12 15 tags, I would do it as like a batch or party with my buddies. Like at that point in time, if I ever got married, it's like, I don't need to like go to Vegas or, you know, I don't need to. I don't know if Jans and Witter coming to have the Sioux Falls, maybe with the chopper on the way in or what have a few falls. I just, I mean, you say you don't need Vegas. I agree, but I don't need like a rattlesnake either. Like, no, it's pretty, I think it's pretty good. Like they don't, they see they hear the footsteps. Like there's so much traction there that they don't want to be anywhere near you. Like that's a very rare occurrence. And then, but yeah, like so anybody going, I would say obviously you get the have a Sioux Falls every morning as an awesome shower, the, the movie. me falls is the, that's the main attraction. And then the hour and a half hike past that over to be your falls and then back, that's, that's all you need. If you're there for the full three nights, definitely go see where the Colorado River meets, meets the falls, but you, but we didn't have time to do it because I had to come back and get back to work. Did you sleep in a tent? Oh, that's the worst part. So you're basically, you're sleeping on a mat, this stick and you're waking, I was waking up every 20 minutes because you're so sore and then you're turning over to the other side. My, my biggest key to people listening would say it would be bring, bring a pillow, like stuff of pillow. If you can, I know it takes up a lot of space, but hey, you got the donkeys, maybe to bring one down, maybe a temperpidic pillow, a lecture wait for the donkeys. Get a king mattress. Yeah. There's a temper, yeah, the whole that that temperpidic mattress. Man, imagine that, imagine a donkey can't even see your way down on it. He's like, it's done. It's unbelievable. But very, very special few days, guys and, and I think for, for those of you who haven't heard about it, just like Google it. And if you ever have the opportunity, if you live in Arizona and you haven't done this crazy, I lived there for nine years and I never even heard of it. I'm so pissed. I never, because we used to go out to Sedona every year for like two days before training camp to just like relax and stuff. So does Ravel. Huh? So does Ravel. Is that what that was? That was two, that was two hours from me. I posted what I posted. I've been out in the, the boonies. I had no service. And I, I post those videos like, did you see Ravel? Did you see Ravel? Did you see Ravel? Did you see Ravel? I'm like, what the fuck is everybody talking about? I guess he was having fun in Sedona and, and, yeah, a lot of people hold hands and fingerlock. That should 100%. Yeah. I mean, that was me. It's done. Another picture came out of them at like a bar together. I don't, I don't, that doesn't seem like a great situation. But what do we know? This sick sick bastard has been bitching and whining all year about Tom Fitzgerald blaming all of his problems on Tom Fitzgerald. And I guess his wish, wish came true because Tom Fitzgerald is no longer a part of the New Jersey devils. Um, I guess agreed to part ways is how it was worded. Pasha, what do you think? How happy are you? I guess I would just like to clarify. There was lots of blame going around. It wasn't just on Fitsy. I was pointing blame at Keith, uh, Dougie. I mean, at one point, I was putting blame on their social media team for that post cutting Quinn out of the photo. So I was pointing a lot of fingers. I don't know. Happy is not the right word. I would much rather be celebrating Fitsy successes GM. That's what what it made me happy. This is kind of more like it had to happen. I'm glad it happened a bit of relief because now I know at least ownership is tapped in. They care. Um, and changes are coming. So from that sense, it's a relief. And I'm optimistic of what's coming next. But yeah, I would have much rather be celebrating Fitsy success. So it's, it's unfortunate. So you've talked a lot about injuries. It's just injuries. And honestly, if Jack Hughes hadn't caught himself with the knife, this could be a completely different story this year. I mean, considering what he's done since the Olympics, if they never lost him, who knows? But it was. I think they were leading the division when it happened. They went on the rookie party in Chicago. Were they like first or second in the division? They were in a good spot. I know they won eight games in a row up until like, I don't know, a week before that happened. Yeah. Okay. So what is on Fitsy in your mind? What is I mean, maybe it's maybe it's Keith as well as you just said, but you love the Meyer move. You love the contracts that they gave out to guys. You were all in on this team prior to this season. So with injuries affecting them and maybe bad coaching, why is it Fitsy that's that's eating this? Like what is it? What would you say to fans who are wondering that? Like, how is it his fault? Well, first and foremost, I would say horrific drafting. I mean, they have had a lot of top 10 picks that they've whipped on. And then especially you look at like who was taking above them. And I think like the stinger was that like some guys that were taking above who they picked ultimately were in that Quinn Hughes trade, which I think was the the final stake in the in his heart or the dagger in the whatever the saying is. I don't know what's 5 AM here, but I think I think the drafting was a huge thing, horrible drafting, which obviously is not just on him. There's, you know, the rest of the scouting staff, but that's the first. I think some bad contracts in the ways of no movement clauses. And I think we saw that come to fruition with the Dougie Hamilton situation. He made his bed. He got forced ultimately to sleep in it. You know, he gave out that no move move clause to Dougie. And then he wasn't able to commit some to move. All are kind of questioning why does Jonathan cova savage have a no move clause? The devils have the most no move clauses in the NHL on Rick Pilate had one. He ultimately decided to wave to go to Long Island. So I think sort of just handcuffing himself with giving those out. And then like I said earlier, I think failing to land Quinn Hughes was kind of, was kind of it for him. I think it was the worst cap secret in hockey that Quinn wanted to play with his brothers. He wanted out of Vancouver. And just the fact that he's not able to get that deal done is just, it's just like, what are you doing, man? What are you doing? Pasha, like no offense to Jersey, but that's a kind of, it's not a top destination for most guys. So they kind of have to give out those no move trades. Yeah. That's fair. That's fair. For sure. But I guess with the with the Quinn Hughes one, he's lit it up so much that that it was like when it went down and he went to Minnesota, I know all you double spirits were flipping and that to see what he's actually done there. It's made it even worse. So that probably was, was it in the, yeah, but you feel like that move would have salvaged New Jersey season though, like, do that happen second week of December. Yeah, that's true. Yeah, but I'm just, I just don't know if you throw Quinn Hughes in that lineup that it makes enough difference to where they make playoffs. Like 100% it does. Okay. Well, that's what Jack steak for them. That's, that's your opinion. But everything else you said about the New Jersey levels you've been wrong on. So what buddy, you saying 100% crazy Pasha. Great. Well, second week of December. This was before the season needed salvaging. That was still like, okay, like, they're still in the playoffs. Jack still hurt, but like, there's still three months left. Like, this was pre alarm bells going off. But when that trade happened, the devil's been on a massive skid and I saw some stat like two months after that where Minnesota was like the highest score in team the league since then and the devil's like site. Yeah, they also have other really good players around and the devil's dog. I think that they have bet. I don't know, man, you tell me go through the list of guys that you want them to keep and shit like that. And the other thing too is like, I think that like you talk about the worst kept secret and hockey. Like, I don't think anybody like that Dougie Hamilton deal when they signed it. It felt like it was way too rushed. They weren't at their time where they need it to sign. Maybe they wanted an offense, a good reputable offensive defense meant to have on the power play to make sure like Jack was happy. So he had someone to snap it around with. So if, but like, I don't that felt like a rush to move. You see, I mean, I didn't have I didn't have a huge problem with that at all. And to me on the scale of like issues, like that Dougie contract when he gave it out compared to fumbling, getting Quinn Hughes is like a one out of 10 where fumbling Quinn is a 10 out of 10. Yeah, but buddy, that's part of the reason why maybe you have to make like potentially like move money out, like you can't move a D. He's going to be on the books. You also have to pay him. I think that that is part of a variable and why they didn't get him. No. Yeah, I mean, I think Dougie not waving is part of that variable. Yeah, for sure. So once again, I think that that was a bad contract to give out at the time. It felt rushed. Another one like how do you like a covechkin? You keep you you're glazing him nonstop when he first came to league about all of his defensive numbers. Like you talk about the shitty drafting yet every one of their prospects, you're ready to get on your hands and ease and give them the gluck, luck. No, no, I wouldn't say that. I definitely wouldn't say that. Um, I think, uh, I've heard more about that fucking uh, uh, uh, grit, uh, grit you and I have. Oh, well, you want to make David, right? No, Gritsuke is one of the lone bright spots of this season. Gritsuke's been incredible. And I think the first order of business or one of the first orders of business after fire and Keith for the new GM needs to be signing Gritsuke because that guy is fucking. I knew the offense was there, but he's a little move. Yeah, exactly. There another contract you're going to be fucking losing your mind about like Frank the tank next year. No, I'm not even looking for home runs, but like Alex holds that fucking six and like there's just there's there's too many. I think he's had like four guys become initial regulars out of the last like hundred. Like I saw some crazy stat like they've drafted horribly, horribly. I'm not looking for generational guys with every pick, but their draft record is no bueno. And that's when you look at you, you look at if the new GM comes in, like that's obviously an enormous part of it now, but is it too late? Like could they end up, could they end up needing a little bit of a rebuild here? No, fuck off. Hey, listen, buddy. You said, you said 24. Jack uses 24. Luke uses 21. Nemitz is 21. He sure is only 20. gonna get traded by all by all. Yeah, but he will bring back a very good hall. Okay, fresh. All I'm saying is that you, you make it sound and we'll get sunny meta. He wants him and Toronto obviously wants this guy as well, but I guess he's from New Jersey. He's been the assisted GM. A lot of people say a big part of the Florida Panthers, three trips to the Stanley Cup final in the last three years. So he's gonna have work cut out for him, but you make it sound like if he goes to Toronto, it's a tear down, it's a complete rebuild. Like, I don't look at it as that different from New Jersey. And everyone I talk to in Boston right now, they seem as happy as they can be for a prospect and it's probably like Sagan, I'd say. A young guy coming in, like what do you know about him? What do you think he can bring to that team? - Yeah, I mean, look, the kid has tremendous skills and he always plays with his head up, you know? I mean, it's, you watch him out there and if you could just kind of tell, like he's always surveying, right? I mean, and he goes in and he goes right to Providence and you know, he has one goal, but he has a bunch of assists. And look, I haven't seen him play pro. You know, I've been kind of pretty deep in the NCAA tournament. Getting ready for a tournament when, you know, you find out what four teams you're covering on Sunday at four o'clock and then on Tuesday, you're on a plane and you've got 80 players that you got to familiarize yourself with or more. So I haven't seen any of his pro games, but I mean, I think the one area where I think he can help Boston right away is the power play like Marton. You know, like I could see at, you know, on the power play, him being able to impact the game as much as, as Marton, I mean, Marton gets the game winner the other night and over time, five on three for talk to put him out there. Like, again, that's all coach feel right there. Like it, no matter what, like you're just putting a guy out in the biggest power play of the, I know I'm going back to the Flyers, but like you're putting a guy out at the end of the game, biggest moment of your season, you go to the guy you've seen play like two or three times. I mean, if that's not good coaching, like I don't, you know, I don't know what you can point at. But like with Hagen's, I think it's similar. I think, you know, once he gets in the lineup, I think that's probably the place where he can build confidence. Like you guys know, you don't feel good about your game. You get out on the power playing. You get some of those touches like that. That's, that's how you kind of get yourself into it. And it's one of the reasons in the Frozen 4, like I'm always rooting for a penalty or two early in the game because I want like the teams to settle in. Guys are so nervous at the Frozen 4 with the one and done. You just want to see guys settle into the game, start to make plays and I feel like again, the power play is always that spot where you can hang on to the puck a little bit extra and like the high end guys can do that. So Hagen's is a good player, man. I mean, you don't go that high in the draft by mistake. And, and, you know, I think him and LaTerno were pretty good this year. I think like that was obviously a tough year for BC and it was a little bit of a rebuilding year. And like, gas oh, it was hurt a lot. Yelvik was hurt a lot. Like they didn't really, you know, they didn't have the depth to help those guys. But, you know, by the end of the year, like, and I'd say this about LaTerno too, like I think LaTerno is the real deal. Like I think, I think the Bruins have two big time prospects with those guys and you obviously never know what's gonna happen here. But I definitely would have my money on LaTerno being able to jump into the NHL after next season two and be good, like at his size with his skill set, he's another one. - That could be a difference maker. And what's crazy right now is, I think people locked in Boston in the past 10 days as the number one wild card. Buddy, Ottawa is coming. There are two points behind them. They have the tiebreaker in terms of regulation wins. Ottawa's got 36 Bruins have 31. Ottawa has the Islanders, the Devils, and the Leafs left. The Bruins have Tampa Bay Saturday. Then they got Columbus. Then I think they finish with the Devils. But I could see this thing flip flop. And all Ottawa has to do is time and points. Then they're the number one wild card. But I do wonder if Hagen's, is have they said Grinnell if he'll be in on Saturday against Tampa? - They have not, they said they're gonna evaluate practices and see where the teams at. And I think Martin St. Louis is a big reason to credit for a lot of those guys success early on in their careers. I mean, I know personally Billy Garin, I just want him to win and be successful because what he did and the gamble that he took this year and like the way that he swung, obviously you guys know him. Like he's such a beauty of a guy too and then the gold medal team he put together and he took a lot of heat for some of the decisions he made for that and he just seems, he seems like the former player now that run like is in charge that doesn't forget what it liked to be a player. I feel like. That's a good point. The conversations I've had, whether I'm like playing or working out in TV, like you talked to former players and like marquee management roles or coaches and you're like, damn, like it's crazy how quickly you forget. I mean, even at times I coach junior hockey, you know, and there are times where all maybe I'll say something and I'll be like, you fucking asshole, like you hated when Bruce Cassidy said that to you like or or you know, like you just like have to like make sure you're you're not doing the things. And with Billy Garen, like he just strikes me as the guy who's like, no, no, like I'm never losing the DNA of what it's like to be on that side of it. And I feel like that's why, you know, I just, I want to see Minnesota have a deep run and then I want to see Quinn Hughes resign there because I want them to get rewarded for taking a risk and making that move and like, Quinn Hughes, I mean, you know, how often I'm not staying up till that late and watching Vancouver that much the last couple of years, right? Like you see him in the East here and there and you catch it. But now that he's in an easier time zone to watch, like he's like, I think we all got to start talking. I mean, I think it is. But like him and McCarr, I mean, I feel like he's he's, I'm worried about is I'm worried about his energy and his gas and he has left. And I'll say this. Like he, he's the second guy you want running your power play, but he's good for a 50 point season. But the time and space is stick always in the right area. Like he was pretty physical for a guy who played Digmin. It's like just the way he would smother you like he was, he was a fucking pain to play against. We were doing one-on-one drills. Oh, that goalie's not there anymore. No, new one. Biz, they're a new goalie who didn't play until like the second part of the season. He came in and they thought he would be the backup. He comes in. He's 15 oh and one in his college period. He's never lost a hockey game. Never lost a hockey game. He's never lost a shootout or something. Guys, he's never lost a game period. Like that's not I'm not exaggerating. He hasn't lost. And the save he made on Garrett Shifty and overtime last night, he steals one. This game should have been over and he steals one. And what's his name? Johnny Hicks. He's what a record. Boy, his record in the last like three, four years of his hockey career. He's like 75, 12 and three or something but she but she talked about it on the broadcast last night. Like his record for the last three years. Like he, you know, juniors and now college. He's he's like 75 and three or 12 or something like that. So the kid just wins and he's not a big guy either. He's five foot 11 maybe neither. Neither was there a law school last year that won that day. He was he was I mean, it's like this. So they they get great goal tending and give the staff credit for finding these guys. Like you're asking me about Carl. I mean, I just think with he gets these guys to play more mature than 85% of the NHL teams. Like his teams come out in this tournament and somehow they go through a game where they manage the puck perfectly. They just the amount of themselves, the amount of times they're their players. Even their they're, you know, they're they're third round draft picks. Live to fight another day at 18 or 19 years old as hockey players. Like and don't try the extra stick candle. They don't try to high risk play. Like they manage the lines. Um, it's like it's he gets these guys at the beginning of a year and I feel like he goes he brings in these third round picks, fourth round picks, fifth round picks. He doesn't litter his roster with with number ones. And the buy in that he gets and how much better these guys get from the beginning of the year till now. I mean, like this kid Epperson last night who made who made the pass on the game winner or or the guy Clark has well like these aren't these like crazy names at the top of the whole be leader board that everybody's talking about. And there were just the best players on the ice. You know, last night, you know, Michael Hage who's injured. So like can't really he can't really get a read on him. The first round pick for Montreal because he he wasn't playing nearly at 100% last night. But these other guys on Denver look like stars the way that they play. And they look like guys who have been playing in the NHL for like 15 years that know it's like game seven of the Stanley Cup finals. And how we just know that like the margin is so thin, which obviously it was. And even in in in over time, they they just waited. They just waited. They waited. They waited. And they just take angles and they wear you down. And they're like, all right, we're going to run for two yards run for two yards run for two yards punt run for two. And so it's it's it's so effective in this tournament. And it's it's I watch it every year from between the benches. And I get them in the regionals a lot. I think David Carl like what he gets at. And this whole staff like you look up his staff, you know, his assistants have a lot like a lot of NHL experience. They've dealt with with the game at a high level. It's it's incredible what they do with these guys. And and you know, how they make these guys so much better and look Jared writes playing the NHL right now for L.A. You know, he was a guy who played at Denver and nobody was like, Oh my god, this guy's an NHL. I like you had a good career, right? But that's what I mean. Like Carl turns them into NHLers. Guys that are going to come to your team. And they're going to be the most, you know, those guys that every coach just like loves all like they do all the right stuff. And everybody loves them like no matter what. Oh, Bullshit off the ice. They show up with their workouts. And that's like what Denver like is just turning out. Like they're going to I think they'll have a pretty good run of guys playing in the NHL in like middle six roles and like middle, you know, and and guys that are just reliable play a thousand games like just those types of guys that, you know, are underrated. But over, you know, like the coach knows how good they are. But like no one else needs to know how good they are. Well, man, wait, you think you think cloud nine productions should make a pitch at Carl? I don't think you could get him. I truly don't think you could get him. I don't all call me if they do it this year. He, he's, he owes it to himself to go to the NHL. Like this, this would be what three and four years. Like I just mean Martha and Snoop would offer him 10 years. Well, you might have to offer him 10 a year. He's got three kids. They're really young. And he, he, I'll babysit. I've talked to him about coming on our show in the morning and like he's always like taking his kids to school and like he's like you can tell how much it matters to him that his family has stability. Like I think when he's making decisions, I think that he's like thinking first and foremost about them. And then I feel like it's probably about him next and you look at Denver. I mean, look, there's a reason with Jack Parker never went to the NHL. There's a reason for that. He could have, he could have gone and coach the Bruins and like some of these guys, they value stability. Look at this stability. We had Dean Everson on our show the other day. Like the guy didn't even get two full seasons. He's a good coach. He's a guy players want to play for, right? I mean, and so while Columbus guys were kind of really, well, no, but like, well, I mean, did you see the interviews on like, we got to do what's the difference? You know, what's it ever? It's coaching guys. I mean, like, I don't know, JVR loved him. Said a lot of good things. This is not my opinion. I was just going off the body language and what we saw in the aftermath of that. Holy come on. Well, I talk to other people. I talk to some other people. Like, like, I don't want to get into it. But yeah. But what about what about this Eric Polkamp, kid who I believe San Jose drafted. Yeah. He could win the Holy Baker today. I don't know if he will, but you see like top two defenseman top four. What are we looking at in his future? It's look, I think he's a little banged up this year to be honest. Like his minutes are down in the tournament. And I think it's because they're, they're, he's dealing with something. They didn't tell us that. But just from watching him, um, I like, I think, I think he's dealing with an injury. So I don't think he's been as, as dynamic as I, you know, think he leads their team and scoring. And I feel like, um, you know, Michigan did a good job of getting all over him. His thing, boys, like, he shoots the puck. I bet you have you put him in the NHL hardest shot competition right now. Like he's probably a top five shot. I think some people were maybe a little irritated with us, uh, just saying like, because we use the term, like, how could you fix college hockey? Like, I don't think it's broke. broken by any means. But, um, we talked about the regionals, uh, kind of being in these random spots sometimes, um, what, what, what, what, what's your feeling on overall college hockey and with where it's at? Yeah. I mean, listen, I think the game and the product on the ice is great, but I think the media side of it is totally broken. I mean, I think like, for example, G's at the frozen floor, and I mean, I don't know, like those guys should have been doing a live show. They should have been given the opportunity to do, like, content and live shows and bringing more attention to the, like, who gets more eyes on them than than chicklets, right? Like, so I think from a media standpoint, I think they saw murals at the blackjack table and they're like, we want nothing to do with this. Yeah, well, listen, they weren't even allowed to like video anything or anything in there, right? It was pretty crazy. Like, we were told that if we take a single video during the game or 30 minutes before the game, our press, press credentials will be removed. And they said that's a company wide policy. None of the media were allowed to like, that's a massive mess on that. What's the point of that? They're the, they're the media. Isn't that the purpose? So you got the press credentials taken away? Like, I think one of the reasons he's thinking about and talking about that is because he's thinking like bigger media deals. Like, the heart of art is that they make rules for the NCAA. But boys, like, our sport is so different than all the other sports. Like, when you make a blanketed rule, and then it affects hockey and hockey people aren't really even that a part of the decision. Like, that's where I think you provide one example. That's like infuriating that they do for what for all sports. It doesn't really work with hockey. Well, they're original. The regional thing probably, right? They're voting on a new rule in the next week about your eligibility clock starting at 18. And you'd start at 18. You get five years, like no matter what. But we both know hockey players play junior hockey a lot of them until they're 20. Yeah. The first defeats the purpose of why I really liked the idea that you could do it is because like you get these kids who, you know, they're late developers. So all of a sudden, maybe you start playing junior at 17, maybe 18. You get the two years there. And it's like, well, now it's time to move out of a bill at home. And you're going to go live on campus. And you're not going to have a bill at parent. You're kind of have to be more of an adult. And it's a better. It's a better process where you're handing them off a little bit more prepared for the next person. Rather than all of a sudden, like you said, it's like you, I liked the idea of them playing in the CHL and then going off to play college. It's just a better development path. Yeah. Well, and I also think, listen, you can't the USHL, like you watch the Frozen 4 and you look, it's, it's overwhelmingly dominated by USHL players. I mean, the CHL guys have been a great addition. But you still look at the numbers, like, you know, it's still 16 guys on every team or from the USHL. I mean, I think that that's going to change because the CHL is better caliber than the USHL. Correct. I think the top end teams, but I don't know if, yeah, I don't, I don't agree. I don't think that that's true anymore. I was full the other day that like, there actually could be some legislation being put in that would reward NCAA teams from taking prospects from American places. So like, for example, if a kid's from Chechia and wants to come over and play for UMass, he's ideally going to have to play in the USHL for a year or two first. They should just combine the USHL and the CHL. I agree. They should. That would be make one junior league and and get rid of all this like animosity and all this. Listen, like, you still have a biz like, look, that's a debate that we're not going to know until we see some teams play each other. And there's really no incentive like the CHL. There's no incentive for them to do that because like right now what you're saying is is how people look at it. People just look at it. I think that if you took the top five teams from the CHL, they would destroy the top five teams from the USHL. That would be my view. Do you have you watched the USHL? Have you watched them? Like, I have aware that like there's certain organizations like, for instance, the Chicago steel, like they get really good players because they actually put a lot of their own money into developing them like the Josh Done played there right a few years. So that's like a top tier USHL team, which you're saying that could probably compete and maybe even play in the OHL and and finish maybe top five teams at a league. I can't say that because like I'm not watching the OHL. Like, I'm not just going to say like I can't just like take what I read from people about junior hockey that I think are mostly morons that right and and just like base my opinion on that way. Like I haven't seen an OHL game live since I watched like Bobby Ryan and like the Plymouth Wellers when I was like playing at the end EVP like we used to go watch the Plymouth Wellers when they were still in OHL teams. Like I haven't been in an OHL building and watched a game and since I was in high school. So like again, hard for me to like have that opinion. I see these studs that are coming in, you know, like there's no doubt about that. All I'm saying here is is that you look at the numbers like just strictly the numbers and and I'm just saying it's still overwhelmingly been USA show guys on every roster in this world and for that's all I'm saying here like but I would love to see them play like why why not like let's see some games give us an idea right now. It's like this big mystery for all of us, right? Like I want to see the kitchen rangers play against miskegon or or youngstown or the Chicago Steel like you like let's let's get an exhibition series going and let's let's let's get a W Lixon the W H L always says the you know like seemingly the you know Colby Armstrong says it's the best league right like I you know it's it's the cruise missiles going to be playing there in another year or two right. So but but that league has always made guys that you're like yeah that guy's good that guy's nails like you say out about every guy that comes out of that league for the most part but I don't know these kids that are like Macklin Celebrini and I know he's a freak and he's not he's the exception to every rule but that kid comes out of comes out of the USA cell and then he like look at the path he's been on like how can you say that league didn't prepare him to come to be you as a as a teenager and as a 17 year old and just win the whole be Baker you know so like yeah but but was that the path because like at the time he wouldn't have been able to go to college probably yeah okay for sure no doubt and and he was also he was being raised and and was he in the states at that point yeah San Jose but I get what you're saying I get what you're saying yeah interesting they should almost do like like the the winner of each league plays for like I'm too late it's like it's so I know you're June I'll say like the beginning do an exhibition series what like why not I mean like why why not figure out a way at least to cooperate and be like look if a player wants to go from one one lead to the other like okay no problem it's got to be a trade like why not I mean why not how many teams in the US HL there's only 16 teams in the US HL which guys like when you see numbers right we all we we just group the whole CHL together that's a shitload more teams 60 teams isn't it's it's it's well yeah well right now it's about 60 I know there was like 20 in the OHL it's usually about around the 20 mark the way I think the Q kind of loses a few they have less stability um and then how many the Western league have you're they at 20 as well we can look at 20 nearly 20 nearly killers in the WHO so basically you would have a junior league that's close to 75 to 80 teams 23 teams in the WHO wow 23 now okay and then probably 20 to 22 in the O know is they added flint 20 teams in the OHL 20 okay so we're at 42 sick math they'd have to break up if they somehow combined they'd have to break up where you know Massachusetts is Quebec League Michigan area hockey league Texas is WHO where's because then you'd have to have it all be just one draft and and and you could go which could then affect you say 23 in the dub yeah but what about 43 and I could understand, right? We've got a, you're talking about a league that has a lot of owners. So like, I understand this is junior hockey. There's always gonna be like financial and cost concerns and what, but even if they don't merge, like why not find a way to have like a cooperative relationship where you have this like mutual respect where it's like, all right, you know what? Like we're gonna play an exhibition series and then maybe it's a Christmas tournament, right? Something like that. And I know where all juniors is going on. So maybe you do it before that. Something like that with juniors like, I'm sure NHL scouts would love it. I'm sure NHL would love it. Like right now, the NHL's in this situation where, like we're all looking at the NHL going, you're the ones that need to come in and like slam the hammer and be like, listen, we need to figure this out. So we don't fuck it up for all these kids because it's so dirty behind the scenes on what's going on, right? And none of it's actually about these kids. Like their kids. - It always goes back to the money for sure, more so, way more so now. And we talk about it on like the minor hockey level, whereas that is such a pivotal point for their development through those whatever. Like let's say 14, 15 to 20 years old, they should really get together and have a plan of attack. And also going back to the media thing with college, like I feel like because college is so much better, there's more programs coming monetization of it. I think they're being short-sighted about how much they can actually make off of it. - Yeah, well, and that's where I'm talking about the media deal and like I said, I think that's why Butchie talked a little bit about what he did because you look at the media landscape in college, like they all used to have TV deals, like real TV deals, not a TV deal where it's like, hey, you do the game, let your students produce it, let your students film it. And then you give us the code and we'll put you on our streaming platform, right? I'm talking like a real, like hockey East used to have a TV deal with Nesson with when you, like going back to you, where there was a game every week and like they bring it up, like you look at the Big 10 network and like the production value that they put into every broadcast and it's not just taking the world feed where everyone's getting that exactly. They're doing, you know, Banshee interviews, they're doing like the production value is just, and if every team had that, it would be a game changer. And Bouchie's not the only guy who said this, like Rand Pekno came on game notes this week and it's like the TV deal we have is a fucking joke. It's not a real TV deal. It's, it's, and, but, but look, the NCHC, which is unbelievably good hockey, right? And, and the NCHC fans all have this chip on their shoulder, but here's the problem. The problem is it's like, if you ask NHL fans that don't follow college, right? Hey, what's the NCHC? Like you're gonna get a lot of blank stairs. People aren't gonna know and they need to know. The NCHC used to be on CBS Sports. That TV deal ended and didn't get, you know, they weren't able to come up with an agreement on it. And now they're on NCHC TV. And I'll give them credit like they do a great job with their, with their streaming platform, NCHC TV. They really do, but guys, like, I wanna flip on the TV and watch, watch, just, it's way easier for me to turn on CBS Sports on my TV than it is to like get my computer, get it streaming, get it onto my TV. And now I know they've, they've got an app now where you can get it on the TV. But like, you just wanna flip through the channels and be like, oh, look, you know, North Dakota is playing Minnesota to Louth. Like, and the game is probably unbelievably good, but I want it more accessible. And there's none of that with college, but, but, but the biggest thing here. And like, earlier this year, we did a, we did a game Michigan against BU, a regular season game that they threw on ESPN 2, which they don't normally do. And when it's an ESPN 2 game, ESPN spends a lot of money. They gave us a studio, they promoted the shit out of it. You know, like, I felt like it was almost like a test run to see like, could we get a big enough rating to support you? - Yeah, what was the rating? - It, like, it wasn't good. It was not good. You can't ask companies to sign up to lose money. Like, it is a business. If someone comes to you guys, you're like, it's going to cost you 100,000 to produce this game. Like, we didn't go to the Olympics because we're like, well, we can watch the games from here. We're on this time zone with everyone else. It's like, this is a conversation that's being had every hockey tournament you go to, whether it's the Stanley Cup or NCAA, people are talking about this. So, yeah. - Yeah, that's the first thing I saw. - I think it was Chris Gold, Tag, Derek Forbert, who I think they both played at North Dakota. They played college hockey together. And I think they were almost like laughing because we use the term, like, British Premier League as an example as to what it could be. Do you believe that it's realistic that hockey universities could get together like the top ones and say we're kind of over this NCAA bullshit. We're gonna monetize and grow this ourselves to like a 25, 30 team super league. - I know, because they can't even agree on overtime. Every conference has different overtime rules, boys. I mean, look no further than that. I'm not kidding. - That's kind of crazy. - You're laughing? - Oh, I'm laughing because that shows how far away this would be from happening. They can't even imagine the team trying to figure it out. - And once again, the British Premier League idea was not mine. It was something that was said and there's conversations going underneath. So, some of these guys laugh, but this is kind of how a lot of these programs and a lot of these people running these programs won't actually want it. Don't kill the messenger, boys. - Yeah, I mean, I think like, you have all these good, like Minnesota Duluth, it's like a great Denver. They don't have football money at Denver. They're not Denver's hockey teams. They're only D1 team, right? - No, they're a lacrosse team is pretty, I think they've got pretty big time, big time. But they're not, it's almost similar to BU with like, we don't have football at BU. We have a basketball program, but they don't play. They play in the United America East Conference, which is a solid, you know, like one of those teams gets a buy into the, you know, gets a chance to the NCAA tournament for basketball, but it's not the, it's not like BC where they have big football, big basketball, like ACC conference, like, so some of these schools don't have, you know, North Dakota, like, now no one invests heavier in their program than those guys, but they don't have big 10 football money. Like, so I just think to me, one of the ways you could probably help college hockey, and I don't mean the product on the ice 'cause the product on the ice just keeps getting better and better. I think like, you need a legit one person that brings, you need like a college hockey commissioner instead of every conference has a commissioner. David Carl should be the overseeing commissioner of all of college hockey, in my opinion. Like, he should be the guy that sits down with all the commissioners and then has the final say in my opinion, because you don't have-- - Why one guy don't, why him? - And I'll tell you why with the, I mean, business because like, you still have six conferences or whatever playing with different overtime rules. Like, look no further than that. You know what I mean? Like, it's everybody is pulling in their own direction and like, how do we have a sport where like, some conferences are doing three, two, one. Some conferences are given two points for a win. - Well, that's why, that's why, that's why like, when I heard the British Premier League comparison, I was like, that's what they need to do because keep in mind, 50% of our listeners right now, they're living in Canada, right? So they don't really even give a fuck about college hockey. They might have even turned the, to turn the podcast off considering we're talking too much about college hockey. - But they do say, but sometimes I wish it was on here. - Yeah. - I think they want a lot of Canadian people. - 100%, but so I'm saying from those 50% people who are maybe more inclined to watch and follow junior hockey, I personally find for not playing college, it's a little confusing because you have all these different divisions like there's like schools that I never even knew existed. Like to me, if you're taking the Michigan, Michigan states, the, you know, the, the BU, the BC, the North Dakota, and you take all the top tier ones, I'm more intrigued to watch the big dogs play the big dogs. That's just me. That's the same thing. - Army says the same thing, and the smaller schools and like the, could a PX obviously, their name is, is higher in the ranks now because of what they've done with the program over the last 10, 15 years. Like the mains and things like that. But there should be obviously those four or five spots at the bottom that could be achievable for those programs that are just even starting now. That's why I love the idea of the relegation and my, hey man. and make it that competitive where there's 25, 30 teams, and then you play those teams. Like one year, you're going to go there to play the two away games, and you might not get them at home, but you're going to play though each single team in, in the whole league at least twice. Like that to me or I guess that would be difficult because you guys play around 40 games. 34. And that's the other thing. Like you're asking, how can you do what? How can you make the product better? Like how can you improve it? I think the coaches would all love to see four to six more games on the schedule. 34's light. Yeah, like, I mean, you play more with like more tone got so strong this year, too. I still get strong playing 40 games like, yeah, C.H.L. is like 68 to 72. There's a big gap in some week night games, too. Like I think like you play every game Friday, Saturday night, like talk to the NHL being coordination with the NHL. But like, this is what he wants me to do. So like, I'm going to do it, right? That, that's, that's like the Mike Hastings way. Um, I mean, guys, he took Minnesota state, a program that, you know, again, like, Biz, you probably wouldn't have, wouldn't have heard of Mankato. He had those guys in a national championship game and they were smothering Denver through half of the game before Denver did their Denver and, and came back and beat them in the championship and Boston a couple of years back. So he builds up that Mankato program, which he could have coached for life, probably just on his own terms. He, he gets hired at Wisconsin, which is probably a tough place to get hired if you're not an alum. He's a finalist for the job at BU when they were looking at him or Pando, right? Not, I'm sure you've heard that before, but I don't, I don't know how, I don't know how, uh, out there that is, right? That's so highly, he's thought of that a school like BU that is such a rich history and has so many good alums that could coach. They were talking to Mike Hastings when they were talking to Pando and listen, they got that right. Like Pando's the guy. I mean, like, you couldn't have a better guy there. But so Hastie now has this in year three, this was constant team, which they, they were top five a lot of the year. They get it in tournament as a 13 seed. Like they needed, they needed things to fall their way to make sure they got in. Like they were watching that selection show like nervous, right? Um, because they, they struggled in their conference tournament and, and they had such a tough stretch in the middle of the year. They lost six straight at one point and like, you don't play that. And then you came to town and it changed everything. That chick let you was so good. I mean, those guys were telling us about it in the meeting and, and we had, we had the, the kid you talked to, Piedala, who got the whole chat boys. Um, well, and, and Kobe, I want to ask because like, I think one thing Mike Hastings, like he really emphasized when he went is like how he loves to keep the older kids around. You got the big Tom Wilson running around, um, obviously good goal tending. And I thought Carberry obviously had them playing well and they eventually overcame them. But I felt like that was a good stepping stone for them to get a taste. Whereas if they end up going against Tampa, I mean, that's, that's another, that's another little bit of an upgrade, right? So you, you would obviously have Tampa in that series. Are they? Yeah. Yeah. I mean, there's still very much to contender. But nice to see he's kind of, you know, making that impact as a power forward that he once was thought to be. I also think you'll see Brendan Gallagher. I think you'll see him score a big goal.
