Welcome to episode 632 of the "Fittenchiclets" podcast. Hey, Chiclet's fans. We're going to take a quick break for a message from one of our partners. Obsessing over. Alright, now back to the show. What a great question that was with. That's a wild story. Oh, never in a million years did I expect him to just kind of wake up and be like, what is this? I thought there was a lot of meaning behind it. Now, he did say he felt like his back was against the wall, but I hope everyone enjoyed Brock Lesnar. Thanks for setting that up and ended up being awesome. I didn't know. I'm not a big wrestling guy that he doesn't do many interviews. So the wrestling online community, we were all over the wrestlers. They were going crazy. There were these wrestling accounts that were posted and videos and clips from the interview were like quoting it and it was getting like 70, 80, 90 comments. Some of them, some of them like fucking blew up where they had like a million people clicked on the tweet to read what was going on. So never in a million years that I expected to blow up that much because I didn't realize he just didn't do that many interviews like that. I would just of assume because I feel like Jans, you're probably the most knowledgeable wrestling guy that a lot of these guys like self-promotion is kind of what they do. Yeah, but then there's also like an aura to some guys like Undertaker that didn't do a lot of interviews. Stone Cold, like guys like that during their runs, but maybe a little bit since they've retired, like Stone Cold and Undertaker has, but yeah, he was one of those guys that you never, I mean, even just the way he lives, right? He lives off the grid. He moved to Canada. Like he doesn't want any publicity, but what a guy. And should we tell the fans now that you're joining the WWE biz? Yeah, which I think is such a no brainer. There's a bidding war actually right now between WWE and AEW because we were with Adam Copeland yesterday on the broadcast. We had him because AEW was owned by TNT or Paramount or whatever fucking company owns us now. That stuff changes pretty quickly now, but I would love to my whole, your point L5 S1. No, I would, I would bring a massage therapist with me on the road, Roman Todd. You could have a time, missus, be your like lady, my partner. That's his finisher. He has these Thai ladies run out and jump on the guys backs and many. For anyone who, for anyone who like myself, like we're not into the WWE wrestling, the interview is awesome because you just go through a guy's life that's got to the top of the mountain in three separate kind of careers. So he's lived a bunch of different lives and I'm telling you, you wouldn't have to be a wrestling fan to enjoy it. Just a crazy, interesting guy who's turned into a, just a hockey dad now. So I, I hope the people did enjoy to listen and I hope if you were like, ah, it's not for me, you go check it out. I think doing like a biz does BC, like you going to his property and hanging out with him for a weekend or until he kills you would be unbelievable content. Yeah, that would be amazing. I would love to learn how to wrestle though. My whole, I would, especially with the climate right now, I would come up with the Canadian flag to all these small town American cities and just start ripping into Americans. They would just like go, I might not make it out alive, but I think I can really, yeah, I would have the, the, the, the may believe flag and then the leaf is right on my junk. Which I don't know. I appreciate that, but definitely been, my wheels have been spinning. If you can, if you couldn't hear the hamster wheels all the way from me and Utah right now, it'd be, it'd be like the chic and Hulk Kog and back in the day when he used to come out with like the, I think it was like Iran flag or whatever it was and he, he was like the biggest heel ever during those times. Oh, yeah, yeah. Were they, they were at war then? I'm assuming. Must have been, yeah. The more, the more things change, the more they stay, same, I guess time is a black circle. We don't want to compare Biz and Canada to Iran right now. I mean, that's probably a little bit over our heads, but the NHL Playoff race boys is not over our heads. And, and, and Biz, I loved you back at TNT this week. Um, you saw some excellent hockey. I think I kind of want to start with the Ottawa game against Detroit. I don't know if you guys mind if we go there first because I am, I am so impressed with Ottawa boys. I, I, I can't believe what's going on there. And listen, we've brought up throughout the course of the season that if you look at all the numbers and all the teams out there that just need a save, Ottawa might be the best team. Edmonton's there, but Ottawa when they get goal tending, they can play with anyone. And they went into New York on Monday night. They were the only game on the slate and they kind of just, yeah, I sense the sarcasm there. Just like they got, they got the win. I think they might have thought it'd been a little easy, but they pulled it out. No worries. Now in that game, Thomas Shabbat gets cross checked by JT Miller. I've seen a lot of people on Twitter kind of going at Brady Kachakabot when they were on their podcast with Matthew. Brady was talking about what they do and how they would approach somebody who does something to one of their teammates. The way Toronto had a lack of response for the gooties hit on Matthews. So all these Brady Kachakaboters and I didn't do anything to JT Miller. I got to be honest, guys, I thought it was a pretty normal frost check type hit. Like maybe people think I'm insane, but it's just like you're cutting across the blue line. You just, that's not like a vicious cross check. It just caught them in the perfect, and I by mean perfect. Like Kirby doc. Yeah, but that was more, that was more like a broad check, right? Right. This was just, it just caught them right where the elbow pad ends, the glove ends, and it's high mitty because what is that a better example? Hyman. No, Hyman's was a hit too. Hyman was a hit too. Okay, all right. Well, you know, when a D's coming at you, when a forward's coming at the Dean, they just cross check you quick. Like if they're trying to get through, like you just give them a quick cross check in the arm, and that's how it happened. Fuck got him right on the button. Sometimes you just hit them right on the perfect spot and then bingo bangled. That's such a brutal loss for them, especially the way they've been buzzing and how, how well he's been playing. Obviously, my sarcasm was, um, and quickly going over the rangers just a horrendous horrendous season, especially at home. How many times you've been shot out at home? They tied a franchise worse nine shots. Well, no, nice. No, it's changed. The league, the league. It was almost like Dolan might have called Batman. No, they've really put out a letter. They, they, they got another shot, which is such like at that point, it's like, just let us break some sort of record this year is the fewest amount of shots at home. We've ever had with nine. Nope. The next day, the league out of shots. So they finished with 10 shots. That game, but busier. Right. That was the night of all nights at MSG to be like, holy shit. And I think right when that game ended, maybe the next morning, Keith sent a text to the group chat. Did anyone see these five teams being the worst five teams in the East? And there's no chance anyone did. We got the Rangers. We got the Leafs. We got the Panthers. We got the Devils. And who is the fifth worst right now? The Rangers twice. The capitals. The capitals. The majors. So worst part about it. Mika's a advantage at celebrating his 1000th game. He actually had three shots. He's trying to pull his weight. What a, what a career he's had over over 800 points in those 1000 games. So I know he takes a lot of flak. Mika with the dry hair, but between dropping mega mix bangers in a visa and and playing hockey games and scoring points and conditioning his hair. I mean, what a fucking run. What a run, boys. Now, so Ottawa, they get that, they get that win against just a horrible hockey team. And mark my thoughts.
to tweet out right after. And it kind of got me fired up. It's not even a sense fan, but an Eastern conference playoff race fan. And he said tomorrow night, like biggest game of the year. I'm already excited. Said some other things like, what's up with Shabbat blah blah blah. Well, it didn't come out before the game, but it just came out now. Shabbat's out four to eight weeks, just an ultimate kick in the dick. This is a team that are, they're already playing without Jake Sanderson. So it's like, that's an enormous loss right there. And then you find out that Shabbat's out who's played incredible. And Sanderson went out with injury. And we get news that Carter. What is it? Yeah, Jack. Yeah, Jack. We will be able to say this guy's name correctly soon enough because he draws into the lineup. And I don't know for 12 minutes played one of the most impressive debuts I've ever seen. He starts it off in Detroit with maybe the ballsy is just typical young guy. He's last guy back. I literally wrote that down with like when did these young guys just get the freedom to do whatever the fuck they want? Like imagine you your first game in the NHL with Terry and on the bench, just at the blue line going between the legs D to D, not even like a bump play. D to D. He would have had it by the left of the year down the tunnel. And you fucking read him. That's how his ears so big. Yeah. You go to shove the cigarette in my mouth and like smoke this whole thing and go back on the ice. But just an incredible pass over the stool. And he fires when it looks like he got a Brady tipped it in. Then he scores a beautiful goal kind of weights out weights out the goal. He comes down low. The sends get this enormous win. I feel sick to my stomach for the Wings fans. I think we chatted right before March. Boys can the Red Wings figure out March. This is the year. I think they're I think they might be in one boys. I think they're fucked. Yeah. And it's just this regulation loss at home to Ottawa playing on a back-to-back with I think five regular defense men out. But I mean, how do you not pump Ottawa's tires? And the best part about it was a team who's needed goal-tending line is on mark stood on his head in the final minute. He robbed Larkin twice. They get the win. And it's like, oh my god, the Ottawa senators. A team that is going if they finish eighth, whoever wins the East is just going to be sick to their stomach that they have them first place. If it goes down that way. So another thing too is I think they're second in the league on five on five analytics. Outside a goal-tending obviously, which was a major concern in the first half of the season. And you mentioned that. That is a scary team, especially playoff time. We know not as many penalties being called. Typically, if they're able to stay disciplined and obviously Sanderson's skating, so I'm assuming he'll be back and ready to go. And not the worst thing considering Shabbat's out him getting a little bit of rest, making sure he's completely fresh. Like, you're going to be riding him 30 minutes a game. Oh, 32 30 again. Oh, he's going to be he's going to be East Coast Macar in no time here. So they're very impressive. And like you said, man, I would not want to meet them in the first round of playoffs. I think it's one of those things where when you go into the playoffs, and especially this year with not as many elite goal-tending in the playoff race right now, like going against all Mark is not something I'd want in the first round. Like he's he's feeling it. He's he's 92 and two since coming back from his time off or whatever. So he's just been absolutely incredible. Got everything figured out and he's just playing outstanding right now. They're playing good in front of them too. We actually had a debate on TNT about coach of the year and the Jack Adams trophy. We can get into that whenever you guys want, but a clip was going around in the last few days of Travis Green. And this was I think right after all that bullshit had gone down and there was just a lot of outside noise, some of which probably created by us talking about Brady Brady getting dealt to the United States somewhere. But he's just he was just basically like boys enjoy this win ignore the fucking white noise keep all the bullshit outside this locker room continue to believe what we're doing here. And it was just a pretty good clip seeing that you could tell that the guys are bought into what he's selling. And and you know, he's had the I actually played against him in the Calder Cup final when he was with you to come before he ended up getting called up to Vancouver. So he's had a very interesting path as a head coach, whether it was in the minors of the NHL. And I really feel that he's found his groove and he's hitting all the right buttons with with that auto with senators team. So I'm happy for him. And he seems like an absolute fucking beauty too. Yeah, he does. And Brady actually on the podcast with Matthew was talking about his fight with Anders Lee that I think I brought up last episode. And he asked he told cousins like, Hey, I'm lining up on the right side cousin said he knew right away with that man. And he said to Anders Lee like, Hey, I kind of need this. You want to get the boys going? He's like, let's get the boys going. He said, you want to square our feelings get right into it. He's like, let's write into it. And like the way he tells the story, it's just quick. But I think that stuff like I guess having played or even if you didn't play like I love that so much because Brady says after like it's about I think I have so much respect for him. He is respect for me. And we just wanted to set the tone that it was in enormous basically playoff type game. And it's it's so cool that that's still a part of hockey. And I think always will be because it's like, Hey, I kind of need this one. You want to go? Let's do it. And two captains just squaring off. Oh, yeah. And it's one way too. Like you got called out by his coach a little bit in the media. It's one way you can you can control what you can bring, right? Like I remember getting called out one time by Jim play fair when we were in Edmonton. And I went out and I thought, um, who is that big dude on your team? Leonard Putt. No, was it Patrell? Was it him? It was some big like finish guy. He was strong as shit. My neck was I couldn't move my neck for like three weeks. Oh, no, was it, um, was it the guy who ended up playing in the KHL? Lighted it up for years. Fuck, I got to check out the oil. There's uh, the oil. There's frost. These are the years where you guys were getting booed coming out. Well, it's a decade of darkness, but a decade of darkness. But it's just it's just one of those things that you can control, right, is that you can go out and show a little spark show that you you carry in that. It matters to you. Teemu, Teemu Hart to Kainan. Teemu Hart to Kainan. No, no. He's still playing right actually. Look up who I fought in Edmonton. There's got to be Patrell then. Let the pilot let it fight through the handle. It won't be that deep of a. Yeah, exactly. Oh, let her Patrell arrested in Chicago, woke up one more big Tom Rennie had to bail him out on all time guy. Oh, great guy. He didn't do anything wrong. I think he slapped somebody's glasses out of their hand in the club and he was been drunk, but awesome guy. And I think he was gone. I think the next morning, that was it. We never saw Leonard Patrell again. No, great guy. Oh, one of those borderline guys. It's just like, you can't, you got no, yeah, no, Lee. Yeah, he was a killer. He's like Lenny got arrested the next morning. Also going back to the Brady thing with with JT Miller, like as like what like you said, it's kind of harmless as it was where it wasn't intentional. Also a little difficult when you just battled your dick off together at the Olympics. And it's not saying you should be playing that matters to Brady. I know I'm not saying you should be playing Tommy sticks, but I'm also saying it does make it a little bit more difficult. No, I don't think for a guy like Brady, it does like if he saw it and thought it was bad, there's no way he's not doing something. If it was his own brother, he would have done something. Right. And I think I think them having their podcasts, which is very entertaining. It's awesome. They do it. But when you say something like that, that creates the noise that I don't know if he's heard, but has that has been on the internet like all you said, you always protect your guys. And then they didn't. And it's like that just kind of that's what comes, that's maybe some of the outside stuff that comes from while playing having a part. Oh, you don't say. Yeah, you think that matters. You mean dumb stuff we say gets used against this? Oh, sure. News to me. But yeah, it's going back to what you said too that like when you got, or maybe it was you when you get the two captains going at it, it's like, I think I think a donor and Dustin Brown went at it one time. It just like the elevation on the bench and the energy. It just gets to it at a different level. What other captains do you think don't you know the all-time one, but the all-time captains, like Cavalier, again, that's it. And it was the cup finals too. So it's like, I don't know if that'll ever. And there's definitely going to be some captain square offs that people maybe tweet us about after that. We're not thinking of, but look at the again, the cup finals and both of them throwing bombs because everyone knew again, look at fight. I think the league knew that how tough any was, but like that was like he was throwing left and they were what a series now. I also think nowadays too, like the captains of the teams aren't necessary. They're more of the skilled guys, the best players on the team, like back in the day, the guys, the guys who are a captain were maybe a little more gritty, but to see it nowadays makes it even better because those guys are usually the best players scoring the most goals, getting the most points. But when they drop those myths, it's outstanding. So this is kind of random and going back to what you said off the hop with the opening day. There's a couple of things. We got a big opening day style sandbagger dropping today. It would have already came out when you're listening to this with Ernie Clement, Davis Schneider and Lucas. What's I forget this one? Lucas. Can I give you a compliment right now? I don't think you've ever been funnier in your life than the mountain. My Mona Lisa, buddy. I was in my office and Bri came up. She's like, what are you laughing at? I'm like, biz is so out of control. So I started doing instead of doing the birdie juice because you guys know I've been sober almost 20 months now. I decided that every time we get a birdie, I'm taking five milligrams of an edible California sober. California sober.
And a three on three scramble, there should be birdies. I mean, you got to have at least like six or seven around. You'd think All hundred percent So make sure you check that one out What a what a fun fun round with those guys. It was great riding in the cart with Ernie Clement And I was hearing it from these guys because I was playing tummy sticks too hard I was kind of like you and Bob does the first time we played yams. Yeah, but the reason I brought up opening day is the Boston red socks Decided to fucking drop the craziest craziest food of all time. Oh Dude, I it might it make kind of makes me want to root against them. I Hope they don't win one game. I hope they have a worse home record than the New York Rangers this year They end up dropping a lobster Poutine Lobster at a ball diamond on the call time There's gonna in the middle of the summertime in the heat just sitting next to somebody Wulfing down a fucking lobster rangoon Poutine like the bathroom line is gonna be the bathroom line is gonna be down the hall. That's where I was thinking It's gonna be a tweet riffin and them can't stop puking in their living room I saw a tweet of pute all over each other. I saw puking a bed and some guys like me after I have A lobster Poutine at the red socks game and then eight Sam out of summers right after it waking up covered in puke again Which biz they call they call a Fenway beer the heroin beer like you have two of them. You are absolutely well Yeah, they haven't cleaned the pipe so it's since the building exactly mix that with a lobster Poutine If they if this doesn't get canceled by game four, I'm done. I saw people like rate. I saw a lot of tweets where people like can't wake to have this and I was like you got to go to prison if you want like that thing And I immediately thought of the game we went with the family last year against the blue jazure's 103 degrees and we were in the sun And I was like if somebody sat next to me with that lobster Poutine I might sucker them in the temple this fight. Hey, I hey, he had the lobster Poutine cops like oh, oh, no worries But I have a great day and then they arrest the guy who's eating it would be like an old Big tasers 49ers game just tilts all over the concourse. Yeah, if I saw somebody with that Mind you I'm the type of guy where if I if I was dating a girl we went to a ball diamond and she got the chips and and not the nachos and cheese We're leaving. We're done. Lock number blocked. I think that she should leave you for calling it a ball diamond Yeah, true because I don't like if you're like hey, I got I got tickets to the diamond backs game Let's go to the ball diamond like she's gonna be like all right Whatever you just called that I'm not going out with you anymore All right, would you rather eat three bites of a lobster Poutine or our start having to call it Ball diamond I don't think I'd eat the lobster Poutine from a Michelin star restaurant nevermind Fenway The Fenway ball diamond, you know who would eat it? My fucking Grinnell. He was excited. I would I'm not knocking it till I try it I definitely I love Poutine. I love lobster. I love going to red socks games socks games usually cold till the end of May I'm sitting there marched little cold I would I try it Lobster is one of those things where it used isn't it considered like the sea or the Cockroach all those cockroach. No. Oh, it's called the cockroach of the sea. That's right Yeah, all these are prisoners in Maine and that's how it got that's how it got like dig They fed it to prisoners and then they were like this is unbelievable. I love a good lobster A warm lobster with hot potter warm butter hot lobster whatever ball diamond I like lobster. I love this big wit watching a ball diamond game Poutine mix could end up on I'm saying lobster or lobster roll with the Yes, with the grill from legal butter. Yeah, from legal. I'm not talking about Poutine watching Otani Fuck it smashed one out of the ball diamond. Okay, that's not where it is actually Biz has a surprise guest for you today. Why don't you ask him if he'll eat some Poutine lobster Poutine Why don't we bring him in right now? Yeah, boys I think this is a must and we need some answers from people inside the organization So why don't we bring on Darren McCarty to answer What the fuck is going on with the Detroit Red Wings you think that that go T would get them going That looks like a lost business biz. I mean, I just because you think that you're behind all a buffalo success now And stop like this. I saw you last night With your new tag team partner edge. So I mean like the Toronto lore is just there. I will agree It's uh, not the best time for the Detroit Red Wings, but again, boys you guys have been here It was always going to be this way in the Eastern Conference This team was always going to be one of these teams. I think that you guys talked about it earlier You know like earlier in the season you know things have to go right for this team and Same things gone wrong the last three years not making excuses, but top guys being out But again, you're still in it. Why is everybody threw it like why is everybody quitting? You can throw pretty much your own destiny. You're up against it, but again A lot of times and I'll say this even more because it's March 26 That the only way out is through sometimes boys. So you know what Don't like what I've seen the last week from the from the Red Wings. We need Some finish, but I mean they are what they are, but do I believe they can make the playoffs? They can beat Buffalo tomorrow night or Friday or wherever they're playing and and and it's a tough schedule Yes, I do believe it one because the difference this year John Gibson That's you know that he's doing everything he's been brought here to do, but you know It's this time where you know the boys have to become the man and Different guys have to do it. So yeah, we don't like our spot But I'm holding up this tweet right now and and you need to talk to Red Wings fans Not any of us for doubting this dude. I said I said I said talk to me They're all out right all all all the Like again talk to him What are we talking about like everybody's a band and ship? It's still time to ask them where the confidence levels that and it's zero right now So we needed you on to talk to the fan base to let him know this one ain't over and as you said sometimes the only way out is true Yeah, I mean, I remember back again 29 years ago Right Colorado held over us the Lemieux incident had gone on the year before we hadn't beaten them since they beat us out We set the league record 62 wins and they went on to win the cup You know, I mean, this is a game. This is a game about About falling down and then getting back up and keep going keep going, right? I was lucky From the regime that I played with that We were always figured in like we were never fighting for a spot So like I don't know what that's like. It's it. It's different and it's different here Because the the water's been dry for 10 years and everybody won these expectations But I mean my opinion is is either Your inner you're out. I mean your inner you're in the way So I mean if you're gone get out get safe get in a safe place Tigers are starting tonight, you know pistons are in the playoffs But if you want to get through this because when are the best lessons in hockey taught in moments like these And you're either gonna rise or for something's gonna be told and Darren As we sit here and talk to you 29 years ago to the day Was the fight night at the Joe and maybe as the games change this doesn't matter But maybe they come out and somebody swing look at that shirt I need one of those turnling. Let's get there. I get that Questionable tees dot com t easy. That's claw them you dot a turtling there Yeah, that is unbelievable with the with the turt teenage group Ninja Turtles logo See with amazing. That's why you're always on the always on it. But then the end is good. Nice to see you too Sorry. Biz always taking the spotlight. I'm the one who fucking called to get you on. I appreciate that actually You know what? I got to give Grinnell credit though his Tax came through before your IG, you know, because you know like that's where we're getting we're getting closer busy needs There's a little animosity here buddy. Yeah, I love it playoff spot with one another Toronto's already fucking wave the white flag Get your on buffalo's bandwagon. Yeah, you're a lot of guy to him. No, listen No, we all should be on Buffalo's bandwagon because about time and look at that team right galvanizing moments I think I heard it interview with our eyes was dolly and sin the boys started drinking beers and hanging out and figured out They liked each other and then they get into that hell of a game of the year Against Tampa Bay with the you know, where those are the gravity. That's what March 26 going back to you Went about 29 years ago It was the gravitation. Yes, the revenge and all that stuff. What's being called around about what it did to the dressing room And what it does to the boys You know, and I'm saying when the guy next to you is more important to you than you are to yourself And maybe that's the thing that we're missing here in Detroit it doesn't feel that way like it does when Tampa Bay
He's got to say, hey, boys, let's just stick it to fourth year, right? And they lean on each other with different guys, but it's moving it in and out. So this is, I like this, this has always been the way it is. Look at Detroit's record the last months of the season for last three years when it counts. But now it's time to change the narrative. Yeah, so you know what? Maybe it'll be the biggest blessing in disguise because that's usually what happens in these instances, and you know what, Biz, to that point, yes, I can't wait till the least in the wings are battling over to the top of the Eastern Conference. And we got this conversation will market today. But when we have this conversation because it's going for the conference finals, oh, that's when it's going to be the best. I'm going to grab you right by that go T and give you a little hug. Hey, you got your ass turtle by a wrestler last night, bro. Like, what are you talking about? Gosh darn it, dude, like look like a bambi on the set. You know what? You know, we should have a wrestling match. You got enough to worry about. Hey, we should have a wrestling match. You should be paying on the wrestling school, bro. When you come to Detroit, I'm moving it down into where the Crocs is. I got the wrestling. Good luck. Shelley has my trainer, train McGow. Yeah, dude, I got a wrestling shoulder grind time wrestling academy at the center line high school tomorrow night. Bobby in there throwing a stunner. I'll stop up. It's it's acting out of stunner. It's called the DMACC stoner. I punch you in the gut and rip your head off blow. I'll give you one business. The don't you worry. You got to receive common baby. Yes, look at that. This is promo because I want you in my corner. Hell yeah, I'll come to I'll be like Heyman. I want I want a combination of Jimmy Hart, Heyman and Bobby's a brain. That's what it is because you are the brains of this operation. I got I got I got my own move. I got the Bong rip where I smash a fucking glass bomb over your head. And then I blow weed smoke in your face and then give you a suplex. Hey, he's got his own weed company. I gotta say I got my own canvas brand. You don't think like I got that neutralized. That's not even going to affect. That's like spinach to him. If it's pop by that's the reversal. That's exactly the rehearsal, but DMACC, you talked about a galvanizing group and then Larkin coming back. I thought he looked great last game. Like that's gotta be a lot. You know, that's huge in the locker room to have him come back, especially for these last 10 11 games. Yeah, 100% it is. And you know, the other night, like you can't afford not to start on time, right? At this point of the year. So, you know, whether you're looking to get the emotions because he's back in the lineup, that, you know, to me shows a little bit of, you know, immaturity on that, but they need them. They need him and copy him back and they just need the puck to go in the net. Um, you know, like that, that's one of the things too. It seems like the last 15 games of the regular season is, is playoff hockey. And what you're seeing is look at the teams that are getting those playoff bounces, right? Because you all know, like playoff hockey, it's staying healthy, getting the goalie. They're, you know, staying on his head and getting that bounce. So hopefully the red wings can turn the script. There's enough games left to be able to do it. Uh, Derek, I heard that Larkin wasn't even injured. He was just kind of like on a standstill holding out because they didn't do enough of the deadline again. Is that true? Well, look at you. Look at you telling this guy, this, this, do you, this is like Game of Thrones. You know that you can talk to me. All you want at that, but you know that the big boss up there in the one nine, he hears all that you say. So he knows who's instigating all this other stuff. And I'll just be saying, you know, just watch it. Oh, is that what you think happened when Larkin went down and almost absolutely blew out his knee like no, I'm just joking about Larkin's post, post season comments. I know what you were doing. I know what we all know what you're doing. I'll just every other day, but March 26. I could probably allow it. Let it slide. But not my apologies. Hey, you know what, say, how's that same energy next time you talk to Isman? Absolutely. Don't win that left ball comes out of your mouth. Make sure you fucking take your back and wipe up. This is unbelievable. This is 10 times better than I could ever expect when I DM you to come on the pod. I thought we were going to be wrestling partners, the edible boys. No, 100% whatever you need. I'm just coming out with me real soon. And I'm going to send it to you boys because I just finished my CBD. Topical straight CBD for the, for the pain and stuff like this and all different stuff. I'm going to make sure that I send one out to all you guys because God dang it. Biz. I've seen that golf swing and it is horrible. Rubbed something on that. But and, and you know what? I'm still, I'm still in. I'm actually going to Florida on Saturday for a week. Oh, you getting ready for the bag or against us? 100% bro. Do you think you think Steady would play with you against us? Or did I just ruin our chances? Well, that, no, that dude, that didn't ruin any chance, right? That that's your real event. You ruined your chance. You never had a chance. I'm saying there's probably a chance. Yeah, because you know what? Oh my God. I'll tell you this. Yeah, as in wet eyes are my abusing biz on the golf course verbally. You've never seen anything that you will never see anything in your life like it. And plus anything that takes the strings away from me, we're all for it. We would send him a PJ just to see that. Oh, fucking, I'd pay for it. So, well, let's get through. Hey, let's get through this playoff run first and we have a better shot. Did you dye your go-t red to like try to get the boys going? Oh, and the top two carpets match the drapes. I got the hot going and it's getting, it's, it's time for the recolor tomorrow and stuff like this. Did I do it to get the boys go? Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah, that's exactly why I did it. No, I've added, I've added like this for a couple of years now. Well, they got, listen, three in the next five games are against, they got two against the fires and one against the Rangers. Buffalo tonight, that feels like just an enormous one. Buffalo's coming off a loss too. So let's see, let me see. Are they at home for that one or then the road on the road? So they're going on the road to Buffalo. That would be something where it's like, boys, this could change everything. We got Darren McCarty. It looks beautiful there by the way today. Just nice, nice, great day in Detroit, but we got Darren re-dying his hair. We got him just ripping his bonk for us. Let's go get a W against the Sabers. Well, that's every day, that's every day for the boys or whatever like this. But, but to the point, right galvanizing to the locker room, no, no better time than now and what it would do, you know, in the standings and stuff like that. So it's, it has the vibe of one of these games that not supposed to go their way, but just might. I got to show you one last thing here. Do you remember that photo? It's all right. You and all right. It's all me and all right. When was that? That was when you want to snuck into the stock of the locker room. Yeah, in the locked room in a week. Yeah. How is all right? All right. It's on everything. The roll of play in that picture. Should we have, let's have all right pop on to say hi to Darren. What's up Darren? How you doing pal? All right. How you been brother? Oh, don't go pal. Hello, bumpy, bumpy spot for a bit, but there's a much better now. Yeah. I mean, I can't believe that was almost 18 years ago when I crashed your party and I didn't get kicked out into your security guy. Tossed me not once, but twice and had to get Chellio off his ass though. Make sure he has backup. I'm putting it from here at the second time. That's crazy. It was that long ago, but I do remember I do remember that night. That was a great night. Yeah. I just remember you sitting there. You know, you, you know, it was your fourth cup and you had kind of had it up and down, you know, put up and down the mines here. And I just remember you were just sitting there looking at taking it all in because you know, I know you had it sort of an up and down. Yeah, well, like, well, you know, odd and off the ice that year. And I just remember just you kind of soaking it all in and I went over and you know, said congratulations in its hilarious. I got a Bruins hat in the attack of children. I still get the hangover out for another hour or something else. So I love it, Broin. And to that point of what you just said, the only way out through sometimes. Absolutely. And they all means whatever. So fucking right. But to see it, good to see if I can't wait to get to get the next picture. Yeah, wait to try that out since the mirror too. Absolutely. I wonder if this re-die job could be like the spark that the team needs. I feel like maybe it's fading is kind of like the team. It's like a, it's like a cryptic message. No, but this one. No, Mark. No, no, no, no. He's looking at it. You know, they have hard enough time sometimes when I'm in the building to perform. So I have to leave the building so that they perform well. But you could be honest something. You know what? I'm going to make a call when we're done. See if I can speed that up and get it done by tonight. Fucking right. It's just because it just because biz, you know, every, every what? 103rd thing out of his mouth might make sense. And by the way, I'm crushing that lobster poutine. I don't care if it's not. I'm not surprised at all. Let's get it. Let's get it twisted. Come on, Grinter. Yeah. I love this guy. I can see you that. And then I'm the guy who I'm the guy who chirps you for for eating it. I get suckered knocked out. So it's a lobster poutine knockout special at Fenway Park. That was good. Demac. I had to tell you, I didn't have your number this summer. I was in Baltimore and ran into these guys from Detroit that are in a band. I said, Oh, I'm buddies with Darren McCarty who's in the grinders. They were like, are you shit me? They went nuts. They were loving it. And they said they knew you. They go, I don't know if they opened, they've opened up for you stuff, but I just wanted to tell you that. I love it, dude. I love it. Yeah. Grinders still, uh, still out, still out doing some stuff in the summertime. So, so just another good way to get people together. i have another way to get the boys going you should you should combat the lobster
or Poutine and come up with Octopus Poutine. That sounds gross, bro. What would you do for your if you could pick up your Calamari Poutine? That might be a little different because it's cooked. You know, I know you're going for the great, you're going for the Greek. You know, you like those slime little bloggers because it's like a fucking mind. You pick your nose and eat it. So like, I mean, that's, it makes sense for you by Calamari Poutine. I be in for what would be your pick? If they said, Hey, Darren, we're doing a rebrand for the concourse. We need you to think of a food for the fans to get the fans going. What would you pick? That's a, this, that's such a great question. But it could be a double chocolate guitar. I could see you just sell. Yeah, that's cool. You know, you can have one of those hockey puck styles. Yes. And you just crushed it up and it's got a gooey center. And that thing, you know, hey, halfway through the gig. It's a great game, no matter what, right? It's a great game, no matter what. Yeah, the Dubai chocolate. Demac, you're a legend, buddy. Going joy. This is on man real. We got to get you on more often. You know, all you got to do is reach out. All right, whenever you need anything, whatever you need, uh, smart us, cheer for biz, let me, but it doesn't bad, dude. Pass the owns your last night, bro. Yeah, everybody owns me. I know, dude. Everybody owns me. Um, it's the last thing. Can you, can you tell us the why I apologize for that joke or there? Please, please tell me, I'm really sorry. Don't do it. You know what? You know what, Paul? Sometimes there are consequences, your actions, just like March 26, 97. Perfect way. Perfect way to end it off. And, and finally, I think for Detroit fans, Demac saying, don't quit. Stick with this team. There are one point out. It's not like they're five points out. You've been here all year. You knew it was going to come down to its Gary Batman hockey. There's got to be five teams fight for two spots with a week left. You knew you're going to be, be that team, right? No matter what, you can save this anchor, put it, uh, write it down and put it this time. I'd save it for, or if it doesn't work out, right? But what are you going to do that to yourself now when it has to be played out? I don't understand that. So to the 700 replies from Red Wing's fans, when I sent out that tweet, don't hit the panic button, support your team and go through. This is what they need. It's coming for you, guys. You're on a Mac that you're the heel, bro. Like you can't. It doesn't mean it's prestigious for you in DMACC. How many cups just for. So he knows where he's talking about Red Wing's fans. Respect the man. Nobody's doing it like you guys daughter. And I know that because you're on Netflix. So keep doing it for the boys. Always be the same and I can't wait to play it out. Play the batter. Love it. What a legend. The bad guy's phone might have smoked mid interview because all of a sudden, you know, we weren't getting his, his excellent kind of volume that we heard at the beginning. But that guy, if I'm, if I'm Todd McClellan saying, this is who's leading the, reading the line. I think he's starting left wing next game. He's starting on the wing. They should definitely have him, not on the road. Obviously, because they're going to Buffalo, but that next game at home against Philly. If he's not like, ring in the siren or whatever they do, do in the lineup car. He should be doing the whole car wash, but I can't thank him enough for hopping on. And oh my God, I would love to do. We should do like a celebrity wrestling match. Yeah. That would be electric, but I didn't know he has his own wrestling school. So you'd be fucking in one on that one. Yeah. Yeah. 26 year anniversary or 29 year, 29. That shirt was unbelievable. 29 years, buddy, 29 years today. As we record, we're about five hours out from puck drop 29 years ago. How did you know that with G wrote it in the chat? Okay. I think he might have said it. Did he set a G set it? But all of a sudden the entire franchise changed forever. They couldn't win swept in 95, lose to the abs 96 and boom. They beat the shit out of them. And then they go on to win back to back. And then two more and DMACC was there for all of them in the East. I realistically think that that bones could win the Jack Adams. People think I'm crazy because he didn't coach most of the year. I sent a stat to the, I think it was a port line from Columbus. Yes. Send it out about the amount of five on five goals they've allowed since bones took over. For and it's it's 40 and I believe 26 games, maybe a little bit more. Just an astronomical low number and just a complete overhaul of how they were. You know, defending and protecting the front of their net. So bravo and once again, all you Buffalo fans are hounding me online. As Darren McCarty said, one of the one of every 103 things I said that comes out on my mouth. Isn't somewhat intelligent. I'm sorry. I didn't put Lindy on my top three picks for the Jack Adams. I thought my picks were good. I'm sorry. I didn't pick the the draft King's top. What is he? He's got the best odds. The favorite right now. So my, my apology. Who do you guys got for Jack Adams? Right now, I'd have to go. Yeah, Lindy at home rough on the road. Got to have him in there. I'd go Dan Mewse, even though he hasn't been playing my boy Hazy. San Jose gets in. You got to have worse off. San Jose is not getting in. I might have just got him in, but I don't I think that they've they've run its course there. This season, unfortunately, I think the cues got to be up there. I mean, they look awesome. Anaheim's fun team to watch granted worst division to ever play hockey. The Pacific division 2526 season. Mewse, Q, Roth, whoop. That's going to someone's getting holes in that last pick. And then you're not even you're not even bringing up, you know, what? I think that has happened in Colorado, right? Like it's just kind of a crazy year for that award. But I think bones and shit has like I just you can't give it to him. But it's like if he got it, I wouldn't care at all. I would not be somebody complaining. Well, he's got the highest winning percentage of all of them. I got to vote for the awards one year. And then my my rights were taken away when I voted Sid for the sulky trophy. I think that pissed off whoever's on the committee enough to never ask asked me to vote again. I get that. But Sid was great that year. And he was great defensively. But wait, I think bones is so beloved by his peers and the players and other coaches that no coach would be upset if he won. No fans would lose their mind. Yeah. I kind of respect the fans of loser mind because they're just sticking up for their guy the way that Sabre's mafia is just gunning for biz right now. And not having a Lindy Lindy Ruff in his talk. I fucking got them going. I fucking let Rob race spank me in the ass at center race. That's sparked his whole winning story. Very true. Before we get to McAvoy in a couple minutes here, James Hagen's ends up leaving BC. But it's not to sign an NHL contract. Kind of how we talked about what I did that year. You sign a PTO or an ATO whatever it is and he goes to Providence. He'll then have to sign if they decide to call him up and McAvoy did this. And I think there was injuries that ended up having him go up to Boston and play in the playoffs. I don't know what your guys opinions on it is. It seems like based on his interview. I respect the hell out of him. Nothing's given to me. I got to go earn everything I want to prove that that I'm ready for the NHL. I got to play well down here and we interviewed him last summer, I believe. Or maybe it was before his draft and great kid. You could tell like somebody who those quotes don't really surprise me, you know, based on the fact that he knows what it takes that he doesn't want to be handed anything. But I still was surprised. It feels like the Bruins kind of won that one to get him to turn pro and not have to burn a year. If they don't want to. So I don't know what you either one of you guys think on that or do you kind of just get it. I actually don't get it. I mean, I get it as a player like for him. I get it wanting to go and turn pro whatever. But I think his agent got fleeced and I don't know who his agent is. I looked him up doesn't have a ton of guys that are, you know, well known or whatever. But like that's one of those things where you have a guy. What was the seventh overall like drafted by the team where he's playing in that city right now in college. Like there has to be there has to be something that was guaranteed to him. Because that that seemed like a move that would happen 20 years ago. Like nowadays you see guys drafted in the fourth round, fifth round come out and play games. I get it there in a battle for the playoffs. I want to get in and take care of what's going on. But I don't know at the end of the day. Like the players are have the have the upper hand right now. And I don't think he got the upper hand by not getting some games this year. I'm first of all, I love that you have like that opinion because it's different than mine. And I just I'm assuming that they're saying, Hey, the option of you coming in and playing games in the NHL given our situation this year is not on the table. His college season is over. If you want to play high competitive hockey with Providence and prove that you can do it against men and stronger competition. That is not only going to set you up from an organizational perspective where I feel like like boss and fans are probably like loving this kid right now each on those quotes right. So he's already in their good graces and and they're they're licking their chops to see what he can do with Providence and who knows man. A guy or two goes down and maybe he's the guy who eventually ends up getting called up right now at this point in time. He assign an ATO and that's just for the Providence Bruins. How does that affect moving forward if let's say next year they're like, Hey, you know more than likely you're not.
going to start in the NHL. Could he go back to college? I read I read a tweet about this. G hop on. If you know better, I think it's near impossible. Yeah. Mike McMahon from college news kind of debunked that went back, checked the rule book. It would it would be virtually impossible. He would essentially have to self-fund his time and providence, right? Yes. Yes. All expenses would have to be paid by Hagen's or his family. To the agent point of view, Keith, that you had, he could have been like, Hey, let's wait out. Let's go back to school. If they're not going to guarantee you games, they're not going to burn the air. And maybe Hagen's is like, I want to play pro. I want to prove it. And then it's out of the agent's hands because you know, in the end, he works for him. And it's like, all right, you want to do this? Like, I get it. I'm kind of we were kind of hoping to burn the air and get you games, but they're not they're saying that's not possible. And you want to do this? Let's go do it. I actually wouldn't mind asking Charlie about it because he went through the same thing where he was dominant at BU for two years. He was a young freshman, just like Hagen's both from Long Island too. I wonder if their buddies or know each other at all. And he had to say McAvoy gave him a call that like right when he turned pro, I'm pretty sure Charlie gave him a call just to welcome the team. So I do listen, when you talk about nowadays, how these kids really run the show and young guys are giving all this money after not doing that much. And it's just completely changed from when we played. This is a little old school way of thinking of I'm going to go down there and this team's completely loaded. And hopefully we go on a run and I light it up and I prove to them that I'm in the lineup and maybe in pencil, but I'm in that lineup next year when they're looking at it over the summer up in Boston. I think the variable of them being able to compete for a call or cup. Like I talk about how Adrian Camp Bay came over. We're probably with like what five, 10 games regular season may be remaining. Don't even know if he ended up hopping in lineup for any regular season games with Manchester and then ended up having I think, you know, 10 goals and playoffs and really helping us win a call their cup. So just gaining that experience playing with other really good players probably factored in where this is a bottom five team. Is he going to Providence to play the end of the regular season? Ah, probably not. That's not going to fit his interest. So playing high level hockey in the HL is going to be very beneficial in gaining experience in a short amount of time. Don't get me wrong. I tip my cap to the way that he's handling it and he wants to go and play and maybe it has something to do with kids in college now. We're getting paid more. He doesn't have to chase the NHL money. Like I may obviously it's not NHL money in college, but I definitely tip my cap to him wanting and wanting to prove himself and go down there and get on the good gracious of the fans and the organization. I was just thinking more of like, Jesus Christ, if I'm the player, I'd be like, wow, look at all these other guys who were just getting games just to fucking get games. And that is where you have to, and I remember being told this young and I wish I'd listen to the advice, like comparing yourself to others in any walk of life is just the worst possible thing you can do. And it's so hard. It's a deep of joy. Dude, that's a hell of a statement right there. And it's just like I do like staying your lane, do what you need to do to be successful. But comparing yourself to others can really, what is it again, Pizz? The comparison is the thief of joy. What up with that? Let's bring in Charlie McVeugh is you're on fire. Thanks. Fire. No, I stole that call from Jeff, but what's up, Charlie? I'm smart today. Welcome. Yeah, you are. I just heard that one. Charlie. That's what he's not. Look at that. Hey, what's up? And we want to start congratulations, dude. Incredible. We haven't talked to you since. It was something I'll never forget. Of course, you'll never forget you played an enormous role. So we just wanted to get that out of the way quick. Yeah, thank you was it was unbelievable. So can't believe it really. We're an experienced man. I want to start because we were just talking with James Higgins and you went through this. You left BU. At that time, were you looking to get right into the lineup and then kind of told, no, it's going to be down to the miners and you got to sign the ATO the same way he did. Take us through your experience leaving school the way Higgins did after sophomore year. Yeah. So this all came back up again, obviously, because it was like a similar situation. And back what I was thinking because I was trying to remember what was the same, what was different. And I think now the thing that's so different just to kind of set the stages like the leverage that I feel like some of these guys have. Or like what they kind of maybe they think they have, but like I mean, some of these like I guess the cutter go to a situation is one thing, right? Like maybe where you didn't get we wanted. So then you went somewhere else and I don't know enough about that to say who was right or wrong or anything. But you see a lot more guys leaving and just getting games like right away now. So that becomes the new comparable where like you're like, okay, well, A, B and C just signed and left. And I feel like that's different from when I signed because the one that they pointed to right away was Zach Werencky. Z went to Michigan and left the year before. So he did two years in school left ATO with like Lake Uri, I think. And playoff's AHL the whole time wins the Calder Cup. And then next year contributor came right in and was great. So it was like, hey, we've seen this model like this worked great for him. Like this is what we want to do. They got a good team in Prague. You go down there, start out there, like get your touches. And I think it was really similar to this two where I think Boston was fighting for the playoffs. So kind of probably looked a little bit a little bit similar in that way at least. I was just going to say from just since Olympic break, you've been on fire. I've been playing amazing. But just offensively I've known something, notice something different from you. It seems like you've obviously been known as an unreal two-way player. But this year your offense to me has been the best that's been in your career. Like what do you contribute to that, especially since the Olympics? Yeah, I mean, just trying to be a part of it, you know, I think like our system too, like we play pretty fast. So I think transition wise, like it helps to be kind of like that fourth man and get involved. Like we're trying to turn you over and we're trying to get going quick, like an elite so fast. Like we got some fast guys on our team. So I think that helps us trying to be guys up the ice. And then I think the other thing is just, you know, our power play has been been great all year. So we brought spotter in and and he just, you know, he's done it at every stop. He's out just been an unreal power play coach and just a great coach in general. So, you know, he came in right away and just some of his like his verbiage, some of the stuff that we were doing on the ice and you know, working on like, you know, you could credit a lot of the success we had because we turned over pretty good. I want to say we went from like bottom five or 10 last year or any year that wasn't very good. And then, you know, this year we've been in the top 10 all year top five at times. So it's, I think that, you know, obviously you're going to rack up some some cookies on the power play. But I think both ways we're playing, you know, both both ways five and five and five and four has just been good and been fun to contribute. Charlie, mine's pretty easy. It's like how are you feeling? Like what a wild year for you with dealing with adversity. I mean, you probably got the fucking tooth fairy living in your house at this point, building, uh, but like just like from losing all that weight after breaking your jaw, how nasty that shot was. And then even more recently, you took another one where you lost some bottom teeth. So how have you just been dealing with like the injuries and and then putting together, I mean, gold medal. And then now this run you've been on since the Olympics. Man, I can't believe that it's all been like one year, like everything that's happened. Like it's insane. You know, and you guys know, whatever year you get to this point of year, you're like, oh my god. Like September or training camp felt like it was two years ago. Like it always flies by. But yeah, like this year was tough and that that one in November, like I started out the year. Great. We were surprised in some people. And it was like, you know, we were trying to get some traction going. And then that happened. And that just was like so deflating. It sucked. Like at the time, like I always show like some people saw I knew it, but like our little guy was in the hospital at the time. He'd been there for like three weeks. And like I literally missed the game in Toronto. Guys came home. I played. And this was a one-off game, Saturday night at Bell Center. I was like, talk to the wife. I'm like, hey, I'm going to go. He's okay. Like, I'm just going to go and I'll be there and back. Like right right in and out and broke the jaw. And like now I'm in the hospital. She was in the hospital. Like, yeah, it was crazy. And that one took a lot. Like, you know, out of both of us. Like, and then I had my family come up to help. You know, her family came in. Like Sully took a step away to like to come help. So we had so much, you know, support. And during that time, which was huge. And then, you know, that a lot of us, you know, me personally to just get get sort of right back into it. And I think I missed like three weeks. And then, you know, we were off and running again. Did losing some weight, like, make like help you with like being a little faster. I mean, that might be a little more. Did you feel? Did you feel lighter out there? I thought it would. Like, I thought I'd be like freaking lane huts and dropping 30 pounds. And now I'm dancing all over the place. But, uh, no, honestly, I felt terrible. My energy was so bad because I didn't have like, you lose all that weight. And you're not able to like fuel yourself. So I was just dying. I'd get out there for practice. I've skated by myself when I was first coming back and like five minutes in. I'd be like calling over the dock. I was, I was dead. So, and it was tough because like food blended to me was just not going to happen. It was all dog shit. So I couldn't do it. I couldn't do it, man. I couldn't do it. You're doing it. I'm like, I was texting you. And I you're like, no chance, man. I
I wasn't gonna do it. So it was like, honestly, it was a lot of soup, a lot of ice cream, like just soft stuff, yeah. And that was fine. And then it all came back. Once I started eating again, like right on Christmas time, like everything was going down normal again. Like you put it right back on. I put it right back on. - Must've been hard to chew a steak though, even like first spiting back in the food. - Oh, and there's sucks. 'Cause like I love like a nice like dinner night for a game going to get a steak. Like that's like go to and I couldn't have it. I was on a lot of like, you can get seafood down pretty easy. Like some like a salmon or like a sea bass or something. Like those are kind of really easy to get down. So when I started getting back into solids, those were, I was on more fish than anything. But man, once I got back on the steak, it was good. Good for you. - The one in Montreal, buddy. It was like, it was like AI. Like I was like, what? - It was legit spitten checklists. - Yeah, legit. - I know, but like, when it's a buddy that it happens to, it's a little different than someone you don't know because I was watching it. And I was actually like, holy fuck, like it looked so bad. Like you could be out for the year. It sounds crazy, but like you never know. But when that happened, did you have it wired shut? Was it wired shut or no? - No, I think they said that like in order to be a candidate for that, you have to have like a perfect bite. And I have an over bite. So I couldn't do it, he said. But I would have, if I didn't, if I had that, I think that was something they would have done. But instead, I just got this, it was a plate that went across the break 'cause it just broke perfect like in half. It was like, front to back. It was like off center in the pictures. Like this was bulged out. This was on, yeah, it was wild. So they put it back together. And then it was three screws on the side, three on the side. And you could still kind of feel where it ends like in the jaw. But, and then I just got my, my flipper now. So it was like Christmas day the other day. And I got all my teeth back. To make matters worse, say boys, when he's in the hospital, R.A. showed up with paperwork. And he's like, what's this? It's a cease and desist. Fuck it. Worse, worse week ever. - But then you had, you had the other one recently where I don't think I've ever seen a player and rightfully so after a game, be more disgusted at like losing a tooth. You were just like, I'm really sick and tired of this. - You just knew that it was more time in the dentist chair. - Yeah. - I was so defeated, man. Like the boys tried to give me like the belt for like, like the player of the game. And I was just like, I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I just had the worst like, fuck it, man. I was, I couldn't believe what happened again. In between the set, I think I got hit like eight minutes left. And I made it back in just in time for like the eight on the clock when coach comes in. So I was in the chair like 20 minutes. He's numbing me up. I hate the needles and the gums like it hurts. And he stitched the at the stitch like a flap on my lip. So that was all that and I'm like, oh man. You have that feeling like, I know I gotta come back. I know the boys need me. But you're sitting in that chair and you're like, fuck. I just wanna, I'm fucking, I wanna go home, man. Fuck this. I was so, I just. - Bring me the bubble again. Put the bubble back on. - I was gonna say the bubble's the worst part. - Dude, Dusty, our trainer came up to me while I was in the dentist chair and he fixed me up. That LA game and he goes, hey, do you wanna put the bubble back on? And I had just stolen the fuck off. I'm like, I'm done with that thing then. - Don't show me that bubble again. - Don't wanna see it. - It's retired, it's in the rafters now. - And then at the Olympics, you started with the bubble. It came off. I was so happy for him. I'm like, oh, that's so nice. And then Nelson had to put it on. - And then Nelly, literally the day I took it off, Nelly put it on. He had like a facial fracture here. Dude, the boys were killing me when I got over there. 'Cause I had just gotten hit. It was that Florida game right before. So like right before I left for Olympics, like my job blew up again. Like same swelling I had like when I broke it. So the boys, as soon as I got over there, really for opening ceremony was the pictures are hilarious. It's like out to here. And then the boys started calling me Quagmire when they all showed up and said in pictures of that. It was pretty funny though. It's been an incredible year for you guys, based on not your guys opinion, but maybe the fans and us idiots in like the expectations. And then Tuesday night, enormous home games, Leafs are struggling. And I think you would admit, probably one of the worst games of the season for your team. I was watching like Jesus. They just have nothing in the tank and they're going a buffalo. And then Wednesday night, incredible effort. I felt bad for Mason Lower Eye, makes a mistake, then it takes the penalty. They're up three two. But you come back and win that game. There had to be a lot of resolve in the room, going into the third, like saying like, we can't drop two in a row in this race right now. - No, I like, man, that Tuesday game was so tough. Like, you guys all been in that spot. You know how it is as a player? Like, you know, you have to look ahead game. Like it's a real thing they talk about it, but like we knew it. So we talked about it openly. Like boys, we have to win this game. These are the ones you're going to look back on. Like, you know, Tuesday against that, that leaf team that like, you know, they're out of it. Like, they just want to play spoiler. We can't, these are the games you have to win. And we still fucking laid in that, man. We just couldn't, we couldn't manufacture it. Like, it was so bad. We just didn't play like, to our identity in any way. So it was just tough. And then we woke up and we were like, we just get right on the plane after go to Buffalo. Sturmy yesterday morning was like, I'm not even going to show you guys anything from it. Not one clip from it. Like it was that bad and like, been around before. Like you know when it's that bad. Honestly, you don't even need to see it. We knew. So it was just like, completely flipped it. Like he sets some really good things in the morning. Spotter sets some good things. Like we had a chance amongst the guys to kind of talk in front of the group, like, you know, just how big this was and coming down the stretch. Like every game now, there aren't no more of those. We play against all the best teams in the league, the rest of the way. It's like, we got many on Saturday, then Columbus, then Dallas, I believe. Yeah. Yeah. So it's sort of seven of which on the road as well. I believe that included last night's game in Buffalo. But that's a tough slate to four and six. It is, yeah, but we just talked about before the game. It was just like, man, it's going to be good fucking story boys. Like laying egg last night. Now we go in and play the best team in the league in a fucking must win game. Like, let's do it. And, you know, obviously, like it wasn't smooth in any way. We like to make things hard on ourselves sometimes, but like you see that one during the two points, it was just huge. We were, we were, we were pumped after. Yeah. It kind of leads me into the next question we have. We were talking about like coach of the year candidates and like, this is one of those years where it feels like you nominate like eight to ten guys because of jobs they'd done. And they could just, you talk about Sturm, like, doing that. Like, it seems like he's just hitting all the right buttons from the message into training camp. A guy who had a long career that was well respected and just like, he's himself. There's no bullshit. There's no hamming it up. He's just himself. And like, what has he done to this group and was it, what is he instilled in order to like kind of get you guys firing the way you have and essentially over achievement? Yeah. I mean, he kind of laid a foundation right, right of training camp. Like he said, I think the messaging has been great. I think, you know, just the, the team for sure from last year, this year, is just, is a closer-knit team, like there's some more personality in the group. So obviously that, that has helped us, you know, on the ice. But with Sturm, he's just been great. Like, his strategy that he brought in of like, like I said, wanting to play fast, play behind teams, like, you know, it calls it the long game, like, you know, we're, we're very quick to just transition. We want to get pucks out, like, it's not like Carolina where we want to flip pucks, but like, we want to get in races. We want to make it hard and kind of back you off. You know, and you see a lot of teams that are playing like that now, like, it's not fun to play against, you know, Buffalo, in their way last night, like, they just go, they go, those are the games that are tough. So we wanted to do it. Sturm, he implemented that and then in the neutral zone, we kind of, you know, have our little clog that we call it, the likes to piss teams off, but he just had things that he believed in that he brought in and he had conviction in and like, I think early on, when he never played it and like, we weren't having the best results, it's kind of hard. And then we kind of flipped it. We understood what he wanted to do is D zone structure, all that. And then he could put it in front of you on tape. So like, then the video sessions are like, look, guys, I told you, just do this. It works. So then you can see it. And then we all believe it. Then we all just bought in and like, I think that has a lot to do with the success we've had this year. Like, you know, obviously he's, he's great, great leader men and then his strategy. So he's just been awesome for us. One quick follow up, you mentioned the personalities and being a closer neck group. And I know Zee was there last year, but he is just on all the time, chirping, like even last night, you guys against Buffalo. It was a boxing gloves, Arvetson's goal where pasta kind of got poke check and Arvetson just poked it in. And he's coming into the pile, chirping, guys are about having boxing gloves on. So he's just never not chirping, including the other team. So what's it like playing with Big Zee? And is he probably one of the bigger personalities in the league that you've seen? Well, man, he's like, oh, he is, he's one of a kind. He really is. Like, he's fucking, I was ready to kill him last night. I came in after the game and I was asking for like an ice bag because I had like a bursa when I fell. And as soon as I come in, I'm like, I see a kind of got this, he goes, man, like he hits me with one of those. I was like, you fucking, oh my God, I was so mad at him. But he is. He's always on like that. I think in a way.
Like last year, I had to get used to him like I didn't really know, you know, he's coming from a different team I don't know I'm hot come and he came in hot. Everything. He had an opinion on everything and something to say about this I'm to say to you like chirps all that and I think I you know Not knowing like who he was. I started to understand him more obviously spent so much time last year hurt that I wasn't even really around the group So a little bit this summer and then into this year like man, I love see like he's awesome once you get his personality He's there to understand him like he's awesome. He's been so great for our room because he's a leader You know, and we kind of asked them to take on a little bit more of that role and he and he did it in a in a big way And then like he's like he likes to chirp guys and stuff like that So I mean, you know those guys in the room like they're great to have keep things light keep things in perspective So yeah, he's been a huge a huge asset for us. I heard he's pretty ruthless like during TV timeout It's the way that he's chirps the other team were like no wonder the PA won't allow mics on the players But I'll give you one how ruthless this guy is so I don't know where he he came from a different He had a couple spots a couple stops along the way before he got to Boston but like we do our secret Santa so Our secret Santa is like, you know, we like to have fun like we we do the gag gifts and goof and you know You're gonna find somebody staying and give it to him a little bit But we have a $50 minimum So we're gonna talk shit about you and then we're gonna give you a nice bottle of chemist so everybody leaves happy Z Just completely breeze the $50 middle and this was last year too So he had me and he gives me a sheet of paper So it just said 73 on it and I and I open like maybe it's a gift card or something like Open this thing up. It was like a chat GPT like written thing That he just typed into things and it wrote it all out formally Basically to say and like you have the worst hair I've ever seen Like here's a free voucher to go over to Turkey Get your hair fixed up like this summer. Yeah, at all this stuff. I was fine. The boys were laughing. I was laughing like it was good And then it just was getting like it was just more personal more personal at the end. I'm like, okay We're okay. Where's my bottle wine now? Like I'm a little sad real no bottle wine nothing Left me there empty handed just gotless gotless that's cool shit six million on the cap But he didn't even get a fucking why don't you get me a bottle of wine then then he felt bad after he said sorry Nice job. We still give him shit. He thought it was worse. He's the worst Santa there ever was yeah Speaking of keeping it loose in the room. How much were you guys giving it to pasta after toe picking on the breakaway? Obviously it helps out you guys one, but were you guys giving it to one and two through we were all man We were laughing on the on the It was on the boss was where I heard it first and then on the plane someone else pulled it up to but he chirped this on the call after all Fuck you were you thinking when he fell out of you as I was skating like biz out there It was funny man. I know I know what he's saying after I saw the replay I'm like fuck you're watching that from the bench. We can't see I'm like, oh no man How did he botched that like it slowed down on them and when he tried to pull it off the wall I got stuck in his feet, but fuck yeah, in a game like that. There would have been nice See him ready to get a break away. It all worked out. It's pretty insane that like the way pasta scores Is one thing and everyone talks about it like a true superstar, but buddy He gets 60 assists every year now, too like and you see some of the passes He makes like you see in practice as well, but his vision and passing is so underrated compared to like how people think of him Is just a goal score the selling the shot and then fighting a seam back doors what he's trying Yeah, he's he's unbelievable at it like he has that big like toe on his stick and he like it almost looks like He holds the puck like out on it with his arm like up high Yeah, he can do anything from there like he can go cross body He can open it up and go further like I see it practice all the time But like you really don't know what he's gonna do He's so good at positioning it like where he can he can do three things like off it just holding it there on the outside It was blade, but I want to say I mean that I've always known it, but now everybody does because he you know He had like I think 50 and a lot of years where he was scoring, you know a lot of goals And he was playing on a line with with two guys that were just feeding them all the time and then obviously when you know You lose a marshal and a bourgeois and some of the guys that we've had when we had those really deep teams Like now we were asking him to do everything you're asking them to carry you know the whole offense really was what we were asking him to do And I think you saw it last year like That he just had that that club in his bag like and he did it so much. He fed geeks like crazy And then you know he ends up being a 30 goal scorer some of the plays he was making like it was just on display I think for everybody to get the appreciation like this guy can do it all man He not only can he score 50, but he's a he's a playmaker to see the ice at a different level Hey, Chico's fans. All right now back to the show A lot of a lot of times I hear from Bruins fans and one complaint they have is they have to name a captain. They have to name a captain A lot of people give it to McVoy give it to pasta, but as a player on the Bruins can you kind of explain how it's not always something necessary I know it's different, but like explain the leadership in your room without actually having somebody with the sea on because it still works Like we knew going into this year that we were gonna have a captain and like that was totally fine You know, I think and when people ask me as I always go back to like the captains we've had before so like when we had ZZ had his little subgroup, right? So it was Z marshy burgui had David back is in there, you know, then it became like burgui then it was burgui marshy had nic felino in there Like we've just been spoiled with so many like NHL captains that have come through here You know and just like leaders so we had so many guys that stepped up but like they always talked about it and that was where I learned it because when burgui was captain And then marshy like I was you know invited into those rooms like okay like this is how we do things And you get to see how they do it by committee like they all leaned on each other for everything everything like You know when it was time to stand up and burgui or someone had to you know do something like they can do it because they're the guy But man everything they they normally were like doing it as a unit they're asking for opinions on stuff like you know doing it as a group So we knew coming to this year that was kind of what I said was like we would do it as a group anyway whether pasta had a sea or I had a sea or a campus or anybody like We would all collaborate on it all lean on each other like because that's the way I've seen it work and have and have a lot of success So we made a leadership group going into this year you know three guys with letters but it's five guys total and then even from there we've added some guys that have been here like longer term And you just get to you know you asked more of guys I think that's the biggest thing like because you don't want to do it by yourself you can't do it by yourself You give guys a little bit of like incentive like like Zodoro I was a good example I was like Z you're such a big voice we need you use it for good like I'm going to challenge you to be to be a leader on this team and like he doesn't even wear a letter but we know in the room like he can speak up he does speak up like he can you know we do it as a group so there's so many different guys but I think that's how you can make it work without a sea like we just asked more of everybody really I think that answer right there proves to why you should be the captain but I got to bring up one story and it's one of my favorite stories definitely my favorite story from the summertime and it's your performance At the airport the day after Matthew could Chuck's wedding can you tell this story then this this was insane I was still half in the bag too but I that's what made it so much funnier because I
was to it. It was so fine. There was so, so we go to Chucky's wedding in St. Louis. And like, you know, that St. Louis airport, like, any no hub, there's a girl in front of a couple flights today back home. So like, I'm flying there in the mall. To St. Louis. Not a bad airport if they got a chillies in there. If I remember right. Three years. Three years. Okay. Then so I go, so we get to the airport. I got to connect through JFK because I missed the Boston flight. Like, there wasn't any seats on it. Of course, this is a Kachak wedding. So every single person from Boston wasn't invited. So I couldn't get on it. And I went up. My flight is at the neighboring gate. I'm going to New York first. And then I got a circle back. So I was just like, fuck it. I'm going to throw a dart here. Like, let's see if I can get on standby. So I, I go up to the counter. And I looked at this lady. And she's like, I will, how could I help you? I'm like, and I'm just, I'm dying to get on this plane. Like, I'm looking to get on standby. If you got any room, she just looked at me. St. Louis girl. She's like, shawty you crazy. You crazy. This light over book. Dude, I'm fucking, oh my god. I'm sitting there. I'm dying. I'm like sweating. I'm still drunk. I'm like, she told me to just crush my dreams. I don't know why I thought I was getting on that plane. She gave me nothing. I turn around. I walk right back to Yans who was just sitting, sitting next to my wife. I told him that story and he fucking logged it man. That was a great impersonation. Shawty you crazy. Me and me and Kristen still say it to each other. Shawty you crazy. Oh, it's so good. Yeah, it was unbelievable because you were going back to where you go. You run an antucket. So we walked on through that chick. Yeah, the whole way back. I think we said, shawty you crazy. The whole way. Now he texted to me every time. Yeah, it's oh my god. Who's the funniest guy in that locker room right now? Who's the court jester? I was asking that. Other than Z, obviously. Man, Z is funny. We got some characters. Pasta paves funny when you get him going. Everybody brings a little bit to the table, but we don't have that one like class clown, I think. Like we've had in past, like I always say Jake Debross because he was just fucking he was one man. He was the he was one of a kind. Like he was the court jester. He was the class clown. But we got some funny guys. We got some good some good college guys. I go I go back and forth with Mill satellite. He's got my sense of humor. So we hit it off me in him. He had a big goal. I was a huge time goal. I was really happy for him. Especially back and back and buff too. Hey, is there anything better than like the the money on the board for for a guy that's going back to play city and everybody's just telling him they didn't want you. He's guys didn't want you. We're in there and Z goes don't worry. They didn't want me either. We had a couple buff guys. Yeah, on the board. That's right. Yeah. He was there too. Jesus. Yeah. No, that was huge. I felt so happy for for myths too. He's having a great year and that's just big, big, old, big, old necking. Charlie, it's been I know it's been a hard year for you in a lot of ways, but also probably one of the best year years of your life. So it's been awesome watching you. Like Keith said, like your offense is crazy right now. Got a gold medal and hopefully get into the playoffs here. So thanks for joining the show, buddy. Man, thank you guys so much. I'll see you guys. I'll see you on act this summer. Right. Hell yeah. See you then and wait. Hey, Chickles fans, we're going to take a quick break for a message from one of our partners. That's just crazy. What he's been through. Oh, West boys, the preads. Yeah, absolute veteran because I think at some point we're going to have Andrew Brunette on hell of a player. He's done an awesome job there. The preads boys, they are on fire last episode. I said they won four in a row. They got another wins now five in a row. I don't know what to say about like, I don't know if they could win their first round series, right? If they end up getting Colorado, but they could also even catch Utah right now. There's three points behind with a game in hand. They got guys like, I think Forsburg and what he's done in O'Reilly and the leadership and it's just been very impressive. They extended their winning streak to five games and closer to the mammoth and Forsburg and Yoshi have 16 combined points over Nashville's five game run. Wow. So you know, Yoshi, a few years back, it was like 90 points, just so dominant. He still has that game. I don't know. Do you think that they could ever be Colorado if they do finish eight? I doubt it, but like these, they got two more games at home than they have six on the road. Oh, so like these, these next two games for me for them are huge. You got, you got to get four points here for them because they got a six six game road trip long going out west. I think they play Tampa. Then they go like LA, San Jose, back to Anaheim. It's a weird schedule, but that's a tough road trip to have at the end of the year when you need points as much as they do, but they're also going to be playing LA a couple times, which is, you know, a team that they're battling with. So those are huge games, but I would love nothing more for this team to get in. Like, they stuck with their guys. I love Brunette as a coach, Derek Mackenzie as a coach there too, but just a veteran guy's stamp coast, Foresburg that you mentioned has been unreal, Yoshi. It's just one of those teams that you want to see get in, especially after last year, kind of derailing a little bit, but you know, at the end of the day, they stuck with most of their guys, and I hope they can get in bad. I would love to get Brunette on or anyone from their team, even maybe how Gail or Mason, just to talk about how this has come about. Like, I think a lot of people wrote this team off old and slow and thought maybe their best days were behind, but my goodness, stamp, a lot of fun things too, stamp coast hitness 600 this year. So a lot of positive vibes going there, and it's just interested to hear what's making what's making the magic happen. Biz, I think they wrote themselves off like before the deadline, they were talking about trading everybody. Well, the key now having success is firing your GM partway through the season. Or just having a retire or retire or just basically leave. Just get out of your force for time. I watched BU play UMass a couple of years ago, and this kid, Ryan Ufko, he was nasty for UMass, D-man. The last year was his first four years, but he played one game in the NHL, but had 30 points at 72 games this year with Milwaukee, 44 points at 50 games. He's up now. He's got five points in 10 games. He's great. I don't know if you saw his first NHL goal was disgusting. One of the best first NHL goals I can remember, smaller like puck movement defense, but I think he's probably made a huge difference, getting a guy in there who could skate, move the puck, just those players now, they're just so valuable. You see these undersized D-man that are starting to make a big difference around the league and he's no different. So him coming up makes a difference, but that's a cool storyline. In Edmonton, big win in Utah and Conor McDavid gets his 400th and then 401st NHL goal. He's got 1200 points. Third fastest player to ever do it. He just keeps stacking up these records. It's crazy to see. I think there was a chance that if he had a goal and assist, it would have given him 400 and 800 in the same game for 1200 points, which is crazy. He didn't smile on either one of the goals with. Well, he gave all his energy to that kid outside the bus there when he gave that little impromptu interview. It doesn't seem like there's a ton of smiling. Some guys are just kind of like that. I remain I remain steadfast at business set it to not if when he gets a Stanley Cup. I think he's going to relax a little bit, but now let's stand up. I think it's going to be a complete 180. It's going to be easy. He's going to be he's going to be Darren McCarty. Let's turn into him. If Edmonton can keep teams to under 20 shots, they're going to be an issue in the playoffs. Because Utah had 18 shots. They're like 105 and 10 when they get over 900 save percentage the last like three years. And I'm not even exaggerating that much. It's somewhat of a guesstimate. If they if it's if it's 901, they'll just beat everyone. So I know people say that defense and the team defense and everything has to be better. I agree. But just get them some saves. And God, they will roll. But that's pretty sick what he's been able to do. The Blackhawks had a exciting prospect make his first NHL appearance. Anton Frontel, third overall pick. They played the others. They beat you know, says nephew. Oh, buddy. Now if you saw his picture. Now some people did come to his defense. He's kind of got those chubby cheeks. Apparently at the NHL combine where they do all
the fitness testing for these kids about to be drafted. He absolutely slaughtered him. Like he was top five and everything. I think maybe even top three as far as is like VO2 max output and yada yada yada. But so apparently he's a he's a freak of nature with the fitness. So don't take his chubby cheeks for what they are. Mac a boy had that in the first part of his career, too. Didn't you have like a chubby or face? I mean, they're calm. I'm still redded. Yeah, he came back from the combine and I think he said to Mike Sullivan like everyone thinks I'm fat. I mean, this picture is so fun. That's that's a fake picture. I feel like he looks unmoving. But the guy, the guy is enormous. He's got game. This is a guy. Black Hawk's fans are counting on to be a future stud. I think they're hoping for a little Leo Carlson and Anton Frontel. It was actually cool too, uh, before the opening face off, but darn switch with them and say, hey, you take a draw and or that just snapped it back, snapped it back on the kid. Oh, for one, um, but exciting times see what he can do. The rest of the year for Chicago and the rocket for sharp race boys, McKinnon's at 46. Caught fields at 44. Why at Johnson? Third in the league 40. I don't know how, how many power play goals does he have? He just he's at 23 right now. That is nuts. I mean, just about a quiet 40 goal season. Would you agree? I would say everything about the Dallas stars. Hey, we're talking coach of the year. Yeah. Like, are you kidding me? Step it in there. Like, fucking, like, he's peat the board and wit. I saw a stat that the last five, uh, Maurice for shard winners have played for a Canadian team. So that could mean something for Caught field, getting us at the end. Well, and also, I think it'll mean it's a new rocket, Richard trophy winner. If one of those three guys get it, McKinnon's never won it, right? Caught field doesn't have it. Why Johnson hasn't won it. So first time winner of the rocket, Richard. Um, and for the second set season because Leon last year did it. Um, so it's pretty cool when you're getting, you know, a new goals leader every year. It feels like that's exciting. Who is the last American to win it? Madonna? Matthews. Oh, Matthews. Jesus Christ. Oh, look and biz or there. Uh, Goudus is remorseful guys. Goudus feels bad. Um, he said, I really hate the way it ended up. The point of, uh, the point of contact. I'm not a fan of that. I never want to injure anybody out there. It's a hard fuck game. I feel terrible about the outcome. I just committed to the play. And unfortunately, that was the point of contact. There's probably people out there really. What a quarter. But for those of you for those of you who don't know him, he is 100% sincere. The guy plays hardest shit. He plays on the edge a little bit, but off the ice. And as a teammate, he is one of the best human beings I have ever played with an unbelievable father and unbelievable husband, great teammate. Like he 100% means I, you know, when you see quotes like that from guys who are labeled as dirty players, you know, you take it as a grain of salt, but he is not like that. He is an all time guy gentleman off the ice, just a great guy and any team would love to have them in their locker room. Yeah. I mean, a great accountability, perfect quote and respect to him for each, you know, to Matthews and having the conversation. Now, like, I've never, you know, knock on wood, like I've never had to do that. Like I, obviously, you didn't call the Irish travelers after you punched their heads in. What do you mean? They kicked my head and I have either of you ever had to call somebody? No, that would be a tough thing to do. I apologize to a ref after the game once. Mark Recky made me apologize. Yeah. You go order that you went to the room? I believe so. Yeah. You walked over. It's a rookie year. It's like the fuck you doing. I don't talk to a ref like that. I think it was a line's been actually. That's a good, bring a six pack. Are you bringing anything? I should have brought them in a six pack. That would have been a classic move. I just went in. They have them in there. I'm sorry. I'm a nerd rookie. Yeah. I shouldn't have that. It's okay, bud. You have a letter of the chat, GPT letter, just carving them. How is Z is one of a kind? I can't call them big Z. What do I call them? I know. I always want to say big Z too, but big Z said, I like that. I like that. The Andy, the NCAAs are going right now. There's 13 minutes left. Yukon, Michigan state kicked this thing off. That's one, one right now. Do you guys remember how high I spoke of Riker Lee when we watch Penn State, Michigan state? Yeah. I call it big. Is it the big guy? The big forward? Yeah. He scored one of the most disgusting goals I've seen this year. I think he scored in both goal, both games were when we were there. Thank you, Dad. Yeah. What way to you see this goal? It's ridiculous. So that's a, that's a Yukon, Michigan state. Did I say Penn State my bad? One, one right now. Where did he get drafted again? Nashville. He's now 26 overall. Nashville's hoping they lose G any update on the neutral regional sites that could hopefully get fixed at some point. I'll say this. All we needed was to get you guys on that train and just beat in that drum. I got a text from a coach, actually an anonymous head coach that said, we're making noise. We're making noise and there's momentum here. And there's a big convention happening this summer where I believe this will be at the top of the docket. So it's pretty cool. We've been banging this drum for, you know, three, four years now. And it's time for it to be overturned. All right. Well, we are recording Sunday afternoon this week. We'll be dropping Monday and then we'll be dropping Thursday. So Monday, Thursday instead of Tuesday, Friday next week, we will go over what happened in the regionals this weekend. I'm excited to watch all these games. We'll have boots on the ground too with. We'll have boots on the ground in Albany. I'm going to document Murls' life. Army's always up Murls' ass about what he does day to day. So I'm heading out to Albany. I'm going to follow Murls around for the day, go to all this spots. And then we're going to go to the regional games that night. Yeah, army says army said it's hard to get a hold of them sometimes. He's going to be babysitting and in Murls is going to be at the bar. He's going to be in Saratoga. It's going to, it's going to be like that Philadelphia Eagles guy. Like he's going to come back and G's going to be married to his wife. I don't know if you guys heard Ricky Bobby. Yeah, yeah, I don't know that story. Ricky Bobby. Ah, I, I, it's said this, I guess like this Eagles legend Brent Celix, like ex-wife is now with one of his former teammates. Just like, God, just boots. Hey, a fish in the sea boys. Oh, man. Funny a lobster out there. I'll tell you, and put the, I tell you, one of the lobster out there in the sea crawling around bottom of the ocean. All right. Let's bring them in. Ha, ha, hello. Everybody welcome to our race world here in the spit and check. Let's podcast. Don't like being introduced as the cockroach of the sea. Thanks for that. With dog. I love the Chuck, Chuck E. Mac, like, giggity, giggity, like quagga, my introduction to a biz. I love the little ricochet shot. By the way, who calls fucking baseball a ball diamond. You have one of a kind to get us in the, listen to the lobster poutine. Uh, uh, don't always have that call. You've never heard that. No, they put diamond or the ball park. My, my brother, after they hit his head and got a concussion, he might have called that. That's about it. I kind of like the collab. I'm usually to the hear from the fans. That might be my new saying. The lot of the North Adam state hat. Oh, that's money. Wow. That was their logo. That logo is fresh. Oh, Hawks. And ironically, well, I would later through the checkouts cup, became friends with a bunch of actual mohawk, mohawk tribe. But when we had the, yeah, they gave you the weed before the call. That was where we're getting phone calls. They found me the fuck out, boy. So those, those mohawks had some good, and I remember saying you, I'm like, Hey, I think that stuff is like pretty strong and I got it. I got it. And then I think they dragged you back to that. Marriott, uh, possibly. Yeah. And then we, we, we reached up back a couple years later. But yeah, those, those guys are great show to my, my mohawk pals. But yeah, he ends up. Actually, I, I, I still had some stuff in storage. And I grabbed a couple of bags. I had a whole bunch of hats and I cleaned them out. I have my famous hat cleaning method, which is my pin tweet. You take them in the shower, wear it in the shower. Just kind of soap it up. Like you would like shampoo in your head, and they come out pretty clean. So it works. I thought you drove into dishwasher. No, no, no. That's the second worst way to clean a hat because it's just, it's, you get high-powered fucking like water pressure on hats that like they're old. They're gonna like pull the threads apart. The worst way is to put it in a wash machine. Never put a hat in a wash machine or the dishwasher. You take it in the shower. And if it's old, the hat, a little delicate with it, but just take it in like literally like there's so many hats nowadays, you should never be wearing a dirty hat. But all right, I've done it. And it works, I, I, it works to perfection. Oh, I remember you told me you're like, just wash your head, wash your hat like you're washing your hair. And I was in there in your fro it. Yeah. And it, and I, it came out and I put it outside in the sun. It looked like I just bought it from lids. Exactly. It's the adriate. And it does the trick, so I'm glad I've got to work for you. I think I might like full-fledged have CT. I could have sworn your entire method was putting it in the desk. In fact, my, my, my tweet with the blood, which is style right in a biz. I said, do not put your hat in the dishwasher. All right. The high-powered jets, they're gonna like pull it apart. Just like in the shower. Like we just said. I missed a big part of it. It's the do not. What would you say?
say your first. What would you say your top five blogs of all time are? Well, that, that, I got to put that one in there. Uh, oh, my God. This is what I got one that was a classic. Remember when we asked you to start blogging a little bit more and, and yeah, yeah, okay. And then you, you blogged, uh, the season five, Steven Seagal movies. I was like, what are you talking about? Like, I don't even a top five. No, no, no, it actually was, it was a random fucking, it was a Steven Seagal DVD collection on, on, uh, on Amazon. Cause I, yeah, I, I don't people love me. I still buy DVDs. I still buy Blu-rays and CDs because I'm, I'm old-fashioned. I love my physical media. And it was a, it was like a 10 fucking movies, Steven Seagal collection. But none of them had like, out for death, uh, yeah, Mark for death, uh, what was it? The fucking, had to, had to fucking kill, uh, out for justice and mock for death. Those are his three biggest movies of all time. And they were these crazy, like old, like Russian made movies when he was like, you know, fake wrestling, a bear and shit. So yeah, hell, that, that was a classic. Good pull there. I was, I have a top movies would be under siege. Uh, you could put that in the top mock, mock for death, out for justice and had to kill those of his, I believe where it's first three, those are the three that made him a legend. This is back in my video store days that Uncle Richie's movies are more back in the day. And those are the top three. Oh, yeah. Yeah. I would disagree. And maybe not at the time, but if you go back and watch them now and like, and like burn before you watch them, they're pretty comical. Like, yeah, because he's been kicking somebody's head off. Like that's not, I mean, I want to know who the Bobby Lupel, we could have a game seven quadruple over time, goal of the year to win the cup. Next day, R.A. could drop a blog about Steve, it's a goal. One more R.A. One more. McDavid finally gets his cup. Oh, sorry. He only ever wrote two blogs in the middle of COVID where it was Halloween on COVID and everyone's freaking out about mass and R.A. being the, the lib that he is made a title. I was like, I hate mass. Oh, that was pretty good. Yeah. And it was a blog about how he hates Halloween mass. Yeah. Great. Well, I live there. Yeah, I said, I am anti mask here are the reasons it was like total clickbait headline, but it was like about, you know, like all my historic Halloween costs and boys, I'm fucking psyched about the Bruins huge win Wednesday night in Buffalo business. I was watching TNT. Great stuff. I love you. You and Pang are going back and forth. Another big win. They got Minnesota in town tomorrow. I'm going to be hoping for the building. I go and I think I'm going to be upstairs. I'll I'll shoot you a text me and come down. You're going to be the boys. Yeah. I'm going to be a rider. A little buddy. Yeah. Front on the glass right behind the net. The Bruins shoot at twice. My father. Don't you lose every time you go to that in those seats? Possibly. Yeah. I feel like every time. Okay. I'm taking the other team. Yeah. And like I love this fucking team. I think they're getting the playoffs. I really hope they do. But what they've done so far, I love it. I love how like, you know, Swinney didn't do anything of the dead light. It was almost like you guys earned to like the right to just like play this out. You know, like they didn't, you know, instead of trading like X play it for like a fourth of fifth. No, man. Hey, you guys have like basically it's all gravy right now. So I'm glad that what they've done. Hopefully getting the playoffs. And really the only two teams I wouldn't want to play in the first round. Not to put the cut for the horse. A pubby Tampa Bay in the island is due to Sirokin. But otherwise, I don't I don't love you guys against Carolina. Bring it on. Clear. Come on. Clear. I don't love you guys because Carolina. Yeah. Uh-oh. I'll roll those dice. Okay. Who's been your favorite addition, all right, to the team? Like who's been your, who have been your guys this year? Got to be big Zed. Well, he was going before. Oh, by the way, he, if you actually go back to the playoffs, I believe two years ago, I was clamoring for the Bruins, the signs at Dorif. I said, I want this guy on the Bruins next year. Would he was going to be a UFA? So I was way ahead of the course, uh, way ahead of the fucking squad on that one. And then, you know, even last year, people all over him, I think this year, he kind of like fully blossomed into what people thought he'd be. But I love what Avitzons brought. You know, like, he's a guy, you know, he bounced around a bit. I think he's like, if he does have 20s, close to 20 goals now, and like, you know, he's just, you know, well, those guys who just fit in perfect and like I said before, they, you know, they got a one super duper star geek. He's obviously become a top line sniper, but it's just a lot of guys who just give hot and effort and gristle and balls. And that leads to Witted Hockey. Swamon's been out of his mind since the Olympics. But the Salah's been awesome too. I think he's four than high danger saves as well. So I just love what this team's doing and it just love the average. So I really want to see him get the playoffs. Uh, and what's up, the piggyback on your car and McDavid Point. Needless to say, he was the first player in history to get his 400th goal in 1200 point in the same game. Uh, also the third fastest to 1200 points after who weighed him Mario. So great stuff there. You mentioned Kahnabatad tagging out. So Bo Hover could dust a hands on for Dull on that first face. So off he did get a helper in his debut. So congrats to him. But at that same game, and this is courtesy of a 19 consecutive Matthew Schaeffer. He played the 31 58 of ice time that game, which is insane. The while he was out there, the aisles generated 59 shot attempts while allowing just 21 against, uh, the aisles had 30 shots on goal allowed just 12 while he was out there outscrewed the hawks to all in that spin. And the 28 0 to when Schaeffer was not the ice down this recorded 17 shots of goal versus 12 against an outscrewed, uh, one to four. So like just that that kid, I know we talk about him all the time, but we like to give props to with these young guys are doing. Um, also, I know the McDavid called the division of pillow fight, the Pacific and that's that was going around the, the, the goal differential, the Atlantic plus 88 central plus 31 metro plus three Pacific minus one 22. I know it's easy to make fun of, but what do you think this actually will matter? Come playoff time. If you get in high and Edmonton and Vegas and the playoffs, does it really matter the end of the day? I think that someone's going to have to play pretty well to come out of that division. I mentioned last show that looks like Utah is going to be the one crossing into the Pacific and they like could maybe come out of there based on how bad everyone else has been. But if you do come out, you win two rounds. Obviously, you found something at that point, right? Unless it continues to be just bad hockey for whoever wins those first two rounds, and then you get a central team who's probably been getting the shit kicked out of them moving on in that division. So no, not, I mean, it matters, but it doesn't because I think once you're out of there, you're playing well enough and no, hey, I got four more games. We got to win. We're in the cup final. So which it'll probably Edmonton again, if Edmonton, if they go to the cup final again this year, but you're going to just have to tip your cap, be like, all right, this, this team is a complete circus that you can never ever count out. Yeah, no, it's, I mean, they're, yeah, they just, they're a soap opera. They're like, they just brought Paul coffee back after going to the finals with them the last two years, like sign them halfway through the year. What the fuck is going on there? It's ridiculous. And also coaching the forwards. Five teams in the vision and the playoffs, too. So yeah, I think it's kind of, it's funny to make fun of, but at the end of the day, I don't think it matters. Congrats. The meek is a advantage. Had 1000 games played the ends. You played a few with them. My, from my mistake and correct. No, I never played with them. Holy fuck, my bad. All right. Yeah, no, no, but obviously played against them unreal career business. You said he had 800 points. That's how unbelievable. Like what a clip to be a thousand games 800 points. That's amazing. And also, I want to congratulate Buffalo's assistant equipment manager, judge, Babcock 2500 games and other equipment guy with 2500. Well, guys playing a thousand, but these equipment guys bang it out to 22,000 2500 games. Good shit. You mentioned a guy's first goal earlier. Now, Cole Hudson's first goal is an empty debtor. And the course that lets us like discussion like, oh, that's a tough way to get your first goal, but like, uh, in business, I think it was the Minnesota tip of big game. Pondless home break. He got a referee, a wooded empty net goal. Now, with an referee, a wooded empty net goal, actually be the worst way to screw your NHL goal with a puck doesn't even actually cross the line or what? Alicia, remember it. I don't know because it's because you're going to score. They only give it to you when it's obvious you're going to score. So in your mind, you scored. But yeah, I actually think yeah, like you said, it's kind of like a cool story. You know, it's very rare. Like I was so fast that I had to drag me down and you know, you could really put some salt and pepper on it. Actually, my first NHL goal never even crossed the goal line. Yeah. And then right into it. I mean, I tell mine all the time, mine's kind of, I wasn't even looking at the puck. I wasn't even looking at, I wasn't looking at anything really. I was just kind of in my own world and they hit my foot and in went in on going price. So it didn't cross the, didn't actually cross the line. No, it did. I just like wasn't looking. Okay. I was trying to put my guy to the net and staring at a bitty in the front roll and fucking, I was like, what the hell? Oh, yes. I think the worst, I think the worst first goal would be if like, the team's about to go in a power play and they pull the goalie and then the team has their own goal and you happen to be the last guy to touch the puck. I would be the worst fucking goal to ever get. That would be funny though. Like just like the other one where if that you got hauled down, like that's still a funny way to tell the story and you can tell it forever. Yeah, exactly. It makes it a little, a little distinct, little something different. So all right, boys, today in hockey history, 27 years ago, our pal Adrian McCoyn became the first demon and conduct connect history to score 20 goals in the season. Five one win over the Canadians. He broke the old team record of 19 set by Doug Howard back in 82 83 20 years ago today. Chris Chelios became the first guy to play at least 400 games for three different franchises. That's incredible. It was his 400th with the wings that day. He had 402 with the Habs and 664 with the Chicago Blackhawks, of course. And five years ago, I'll guide Keith. Yeah,
Dandel became the first defenseman in third play ever to play 900 consecutive games at the NHL. So give a little Some snaps to our boy. Thank you boy and a good stuff. Um, I don't know if you guys have been watching Netflix lately shuttles and Netflix But the new Jeffrey Ross special. Um, it's called take a banana for the ride. You guys obviously know jeffrey Ross the roast master Oh, he's hilarious, hilarious. You know, it wasn't busy. It wasn't a traditional stand-up You know like we used to with the mic. It was a with like a one-man show and he goes into great detail about his upbringing and his parents how we got Find himself in the comedy world and honestly, I recommend to anybody now. It's Jeffrey Ross So obviously this like human that might not be everyone's cup of tea. I mean whatever it's it's comedy show you got to get that But it was very emotional. He goes real deep on like I said his his family history and there's some really real tender moments in it Like really like emotional moments, particularly at the end where he goes out into the crowd and and you know the the thing take a banana for Ride doesn't mean a banana from the carnival biz when you're out with like 70 updates, but it's it's a it's a he gets into the story Of why why that matters and it's really like like I said, it's a it's a tender thing at the end of the day. If you're looking for something to watch Jeffrey Ross take a banana for ride good stuff there. He's a kind of like bow burn him special, but you know what? That's a great comparison. Yeah, Bow brums. Okay, you just got me to not watch it. I dance hates Bow brums. All right, but like Mike Burbigley and another guy who does like what you call one man Chosen instead of like, you know, it's not like you know getting up and just telling jokes all all the time and you know Jeffrey Ross He is hilarious and you know when he comes out he like I didn't realize he you know I know he had he's been there. We can do a Cancer and he had alopee. She get diagnosed with late life. So I and he addresses that off the hop But definitely a like a set of it. It's surprisingly emotional and definitely give that a recommendation of classic recommendation for old school movie. This is one You guys probably never heard of 1981 called Nighthawks. So Vesta Sloan made this between Rocky 2 and Rocky 3 Billy D Williams was just coming off the Empire Strikes back. It's about a terrorist loose in New York City and it has one of the most insane stunt stunts ever done. It's like you guys hurt. I don't Know if you're familiar with Roosevelt Island on New York City. It's it's the East River. It's you know that island that people live on but there's an old school Tram but like you almost like a ski gondola. It's still operational to this day and they did a stunt on this with like Sylvester Sloan and the late Radkehawa who is awesome actor. It's a kind of a legendary stunt. But anyways it's a Dillbiter of a thriller. It's not very popular. But if you look at for like a great action from the 80s Nighthawks 1981 give it a World good stuff. All right. Have you seen Hail Mary yet with Ryan Gosling? You took the words right out of my mouth. I heard it's fucking incredible. I went last night. Nice week day without Spoiling. What's the what's the verdict? I really I really liked it. I don't think I like was upset. Like the reviews have been like Obsessor. I really liked it. I think I would have enjoyed a little bit more of flashbacks. But this is like really like what's the word When you like it's I loved it. I loved it. But but was an original idea. It was a book. Okay. So obviously it wasn't a comedy if you liked it. Yeah. No, but it was very funny. He's my favorite actor I think. I think He's a very likable guy. He's Canadian Canadian. What London Ontario or need that. I say to the I say to the puppy head tilt there when I said that. But like yeah, Over the years what what doesn't seem to be like a big fan of comedies whether TV shows. No, I like what am I like comedies? I just I'd rather like a drop like this movie was great because it did Have comedy, but it was dramatic as well. There's just not a lot of good comedies anymore. No, exactly. If they made wedding crashers in old school, I'd be watching comedies. Oh, yeah. Now it is. They don't really make movies aren't Yeah, like what was the last like hilarious movie? Like what does the naked gun remake what I would say? Okay, Liam Neeson. I mean, but you're right. It's I was hoping that would sort of break the Dan because this it goes like this. It's like pendulum. But it's like it kind of gets Politically correct. And then we you know, like back in the 90s things changed and we got like America pie and all those sort of dirty Movies and then things kind of went pussy pussy way, you know, kind of quiet for that way. And I think it's coming back the other way. Because people want to movie with Michael Cena and Jonah Hill. Super bad. Super bad plastic. Oh, yeah. Yeah, those all the from like 2001 to 2000 was it eight maybe 10. Yeah. Yeah. There was a good good run there. So I think that's Coming back, but we do need good. The hangover. Did you see the Ryan Gosling one as well? Are they? No, I'm actually tonight, Friday night. I have a ticket up at the iMacs up at the Jordan's furniture. I've been Reading cannot wait to get my seat all prepared. So did you see an iMacs with no, I didn't interrupt the movie. I was like, This this would be incredible. There's one scene that you're I was like, oh my god. This and iMacs would be unreal. So they built the entire spaceship, right? It's actually real. It's not CGI. I want to see Pizz. I'm not even sure because I watch previews less and less because they give so much of The movie. Yeah, I know. I know. So, you know, I kind of go through like snippets of like fall, you know, Critics I follow on guys who's opinion I trust. And then I, you know, like, okay, I think I want to see the space. The spacecraft he's in has a million buttons, right? It's like just a insane thing. They he was in that Physically like they built that whole thing out apparently where they didn't want to use too much CGI Like obviously that being the main part where he's like apparently in that majority of the movie, right? Yes, yes, and the more I think it's an unreal movie. I think I just went in thinking like this can be one of the best movies. Can you give us the break, but can you give us the breakdown of like what the storyline is? No spoiling alert. He's a middle school science teacher and the sun is dying. And over the course of the next 30 years, the planet's going to become like I'm not giving anything away, all right? No, I know. I just that's how much I am so committed to like don't spoil. I don't not say you don't know anything about it. legit. No, I take the headphones off. No, no, and I don't just then I gave enough. I gave enough. That's what we're talking about the leaves. I'm just literally just going to go. I didn't mean it just it was just I don't it was so I couldn't hear it. It's it's not about when I got the best way. And that is the best way to go to move on to like totally 100 percent blind. By the way, speaking of gossip, the nice guys might be his best movie when him and Russell Crowe, the 70's on private nights in LA. Yeah, pretty good. Pretty good. Pretty good. Do you ever see that key? No, I want to ruin it. When was the last time you went to the movie theater? We went to see Marty supreme. I'm going to say that was a monthish. No, that was probably two months ago. We used to go to the movies once a week before kids. Like I love going to the movie. And then COVID happened. And then you know, all of a sudden you're just so busy. But I've been trying to get like, Hey, we got to go. I love going to the movie theater. And this movie theater and Chestnut Hill, it's got you ordered dinner. They bring beers and the dinner to your seat. Got the recliners. It's incredible theater. Super locks or something. Yeah. I smuggle my drinks and fucking her. She's not. I mean, I mean, though, that's the garbage bag of gold fish. By the way, Marty supreme over to a douchebag was him as a character. Like the character itself. Fuck you hated him. That'll fuck that. That'll be like, I take that. What an acting job. If you really hate a person, exactly. Like you think like Sharon Stoneucasino. Exactly. Well, I trickled it a little bit to the to the Oscar. Oh no, he said he hates opera and ballet. And I think that might have hurt him, right? No, I know. But I think he was already been talking a lot about like, yeah, like just, yeah, I'm nearly beautiful over either way. I don't think I don't think he he gets screwed out of any wood. I'll leave it at that. My NHL picks last week. I gave you a wouldn't Toronto auto Saturday afternoon. I got a few this week. Tampa Bay auto a Saturday afternoon as well. I don't know what the over under is. It just bet the six and a half. You could whatever tease the line do whatever you could do whatever these days on draft Kings. Also, the ducks are playing the oilers. I like the ducks. Sorry, wet ducks over the oilers and take the over in that game. Pound the over. They've scored. I think 11 goals in their first two games so far this season. And finally, boys, we want to send out deepest condolences to the Greeley family on their loss of their pay tracks. Steve I never met coaches. He's well known down the South Shore, but I've been fortunate to come friendly with his son Steve over the years and with the end of our you guy. He's been instrumental in you guys friendship. You guys your whole life, right? Yeah. Jack and myself and Keith's brother Brian. We played on the same team growing up and Mr. Greeley coached and then he had five kids, right? So he's busy guy and it was tough, man. He was a battle, a long battle with it started Parkinson's and dementia. And I got to see him in August when they gave him a couple weeks at that point and he made it, you know, he made it to March and it was just nice to see no more suffering, right? Like it was really hard, I think, for the family, but I go a long way back. Steve and I became close played it be you together and I just feel so bad for them, right? Like you've seen the post that all his kids have been doing and it's it's really tough for them to go through that. So, you know, losing somebody that I knew very well and you know that I'm good friends with with his son. It's just hard to see people hurting like that. But like I said to Jack and Steve, like I hope you guys are at peace. No, and he's not suffering anymore. And I know that, you know, it's a tough time for them. So the week's Monday and the funeral's Tuesday and I'm glad you showed them out. I was going to wait till the end, but good move right there. All right. Okay. Yeah, I talked
to Brian earlier Keith, and he said he played, said he was instrumental. And if he hadn't brought like Brian to that, the team, particular team at that time, you guys might never have a friendship. He had. So I just want to give him a shout out there. So I should have mentioned when we were talking NCAA quick, there's Emily Kaplan did an awesome video on Michael Hage at Michigan. I, I knew his father had passed away a few years back, but I didn't know the story. And, you know, for anyone who doesn't watch it, I hope you do. His dad was an enormous Montreal Canadians fan. And his brother, I believe that Michigan with him. And they were at the pool, like having a pool party with friends over and his dad dove in the pool. And nobody noticed that he must have hit his head or something. And all of a sudden, you know, they see him down there. And Michael actually dove in, dragged him out, tried giving him CPR as dad passed away. I didn't know that story. But he's an incredible player. And then they fast forward years later, it's just him and his mom and his brother at the draft and Montreal's up. And Montreal takes him. And he left the hospital, I think, in a Canadian's like onesie. And, you know, his mom's hugging him like, this is your dad here with you is very emotional, awesome piece by Emily Kaplan that you could see anywhere online, but a hell of a player too. The kid, I think he could hop into Montreal's lineup if Michigan doesn't get to the frozen floor. Like he's going to be a stud. I didn't know the tragedy that his family gone through. So check that story out if you want to. Damn, that is, that's wild. Yeah. Boys, go, go, go, all right. All right. I'll be, if anybody's in St. Louis, come check out the puck cancer event. I'll be there supporting Kelly Chase on behalf of all the guys. I mean, new sandbagga as well. Yeah, new sandbagga. This might be top, top five baggers, the way it all went down, the twist and turns Jim Mona Lisa, my Mona Lisa. No, whole 13, my Mona Lisa. Oh, boys, it was great catching up.
