Speaking Life, Choosing Faith, and Trusting God's Promises with Gail Schaar!

In this episode, Gail Shar shares her journey from a troubled past—marked by alcohol, promiscuity, and self-destruction—to a life transformed by faith, marriage, and motherhood. Her new book, "I Am Not a Cancer Patient," stems from her recent battle with two types of breast cancer. Gail describes the initial diagnosis as a world-stopping moment of chaos and fear, but she emphasizes the need to pause and seek God before making decisions. She challenges conventional Christian views on healing, arguing that Scripture shows God's will is always for immediate healing, not prolonged suffering. Gail believes that identity is rooted in God's Word, not in sickness, and that speaking truth—like "I am healed"—brings peace and clarity. She contrasts the enemy's fear-driven pressure with God's gentle leadership, urging listeners to make decisions from peace, not panic. Despite the battle, Gail reports feeling fantastic, living in joy and faith, and focusing on God's faithfulness. Her book aims to help others navigate their own battles by choosing to believe God's report over their circumstances.

Thank you for joining me on this episode of the Anchor By the Sword Podcast. I pray that today's episode will leave you encouraged and also challenged in your faith. And I pray that you would take the stories that are talked about here today and share them with other people. Thank you so much for joining me and enjoy today's episode. Hey guys, welcome to this episode of the Anchor By the Sword Podcast. So I am super excited today because I have another repeat guest. This is my friend, Gail Shar. We have known each other for quite a long time. We were going to faith family church together. And she was actually back on episode 34. So she's one of the OGs and her husband, Zach, was actually on episode 32. So I love that we are doing this again. And the reason we're doing this again is because she had a book come out. This week called I Am Not a Cancer Patient. And I'm so excited to hear more about her story and for you guys to hear her journey and how she's doing now. So Gail, thanks for joining me again. Yeah, thanks for having me. I'm very excited. Absolutely. So can you tell my listeners who don't know you who didn't hear the previous episode a little bit about yourself? Yeah. So I come from a like a checkered background. Following the Lord up until like my late 20s, I think. And so I have just kind of a unique experience with the Lord. My relationship with him is very personal and specific to just the way my life was going for a long time. Living in sin, rejecting him. I could feel his pursuit that he was always there and was always a part of trying, you know, just a gentle pursuit, always kind of following me around. And Lamotte is an author and the way she explains that is like a stray cat that would follow her everywhere she went, just quiet around town, everywhere she went. And then it would sit outside her door just patiently waiting to be invited in. Eventually she opened the door. I was like, fine, come on in. That is kind of how the pursuit of the Lord is. He shows up gently and in love throughout your story. And eventually, you know, he's just waiting on you to say yes to him and accept him. And that was me. I was living a very rough life. Alcohol, promiscuity, just foul mouthed, irresponsible. I was very destructive in my life and the way that I was living. I was destructive to the people around me, to myself, to my finances, to my health. And finally, you know, like Anne says in her book, I opened the door and said, all right, Lord, come on in. And he changed everything. He changed my desires for alcohol. He changed just my perspective, you know, the longer you walk with him, the more you learn about him. And so then I ended up just being sold out, sold out for the gospel and for the Lord. And I'm walking proof that he saves and changes and never leaves and is faithful and is only always good. And anybody that ever knew me before can see that in my life that I'm just not even the same person and I'm glad about that. I don't ever want to be that person again. So that's how I ended up here. Now I'm in Canton, Ohio going to Faith Family. I got married. I have a husband named Zach. He was on the other episode, as you mentioned, two little girls, six and eight. And never would have thought that this could be my life when the Lord showed up in my life back then. I never would have pictured that I could have, you know, just a joyful, fruitful life, full of life, I guess. And I can't believe your oldest is eight now. I know it's bonkers. That is crazy. Yes, it is. And just watching them change too, it's like, how are you a little person now? Right. You used to like, I need wawa and, you know, now, I mean, she'll throw a little hit about there and snap her fingers and say, girl, come on. I'm like, how is this happening? Where did you come from? It just happened so quick, it's the sweetest ride. Yeah, I know. Watching, like, you know, I have enough use. And those kids, I mean, I still call them kids and one of them's 19 now. And just thinking about the ride I've had with them and that now, like, the relationships that I've had with those kids are different now. Yeah. I know about the same with the 13 and 15 year old, but like the 19 year old and the soon to be 18 year old, like, it's completely different now. It's more like a, I won't say equal because we still aren't in that equal stage because I've lived more life than them. That's what I tell them. I still, I may not do the things that you guys do, but I've still lived more life. So, you know, I'm still here to give you guidance and like, be that self-place to land. But, you know, I just, just thinking about it, it's just so crazy. I look back at the pictures and I'm like, I remember the day you were born and I was, I told you like this. Yeah. And now you're like, I have to reach up to give you a hug. Yes. Because you all are closer than me. That, you know, that's something too that the Holy Spirit brought to me is, you know, kids can be difficult and they're trying to find out who they are and they're trying to push the boundaries. And if it got strong, well, kids, you know, I think it was Pastor Mike who said, don't beat it out of them. But yeah. You can't make it in, you know, you can't let them go wild, but don't beat it out of them. The Lord put that in them for a reason, but it can be tough. And, you know, the Holy Spirit kind of just unctioned me one day. Like, look at that little face. Remember when that little face like had two teeth and a pacifier and was eating, you know, just applesauce pouches or, you know, soft baby food and we're in diapers and you think that's the same face. Even though she's, you know, sass in me or she's trying to see who she is and what she can get away with, it's that same sweet little girl that's in there. Don't forget about that in the hard moments because, you know, sometimes you can see the behavior over the kid when they push you far enough. And so sometimes I just look at them and I think, oh, me and that, that sass or that, you know, your push in, but you're just that same little face with the pacifier. And a pig tail and, you know, you got to remember, you know, because it's hard and it's, you know, the enemy I'll try to tell you like, oh, you're going to let her talk to whatever. No, she's the same little sweet girl that God created. She's just, you know, figuring out what it looks like to become herself and do life. And it's horrible. Stop it. Stop the clock. Right. Exactly. I've been wanting that for quite a while. So, especially my 25 year old stepnaf you, he's actually out in Baltimore. And so I think about the fact that I don't know when I'll be able to see him again. And it's like I pray for him because he's lost. And I just, you know, getting into certain things and I'm like, man, I just wish I could talk to him and all that kind of stuff. And it just, you know, he has to live his life. Yep. And it seems show up on Snapchat once in a while, a video of his leg while he's in somebody's car. Okay. Good. He's still alive. Yeah. It's really hard when it gets to that place. Yeah. You know, you're like, well, I wasn't their parent, but I am their aunt. So I will do my part. Yeah. And just pray for their safety. Yeah. So as they're figuring themselves out, those battles are all one in prayer, all of them. Amen. Absolutely. So speaking of battles, yeah, then's the last time we have talked, you have gone through a couple battles of your own. Yeah. So let's go ahead and dive into that. Sure. So April, 2025. So over a year ago, I was diagnosed with two different types of breast cancer, a small slow growing. And so that's kind of where my whole world like froze for a second, you know. And anybody that's listening that's ever had any kind of diagnosis or traumatic news, even if it's the loss of someone or just some kind of traumatic news, it really does feel like you're moving in slow motion through a world that's like chaotic around you. And it can be really difficult. And I talk a lot about that in the book, but the noise and the chaos and the swirling thoughts can really get the best of you, especially in those early days when you are first diagnosed, you first hear the news, all the appointments and the doctors are like, this and this and this. And the way that it works is they're like, hi, here's your diagnosis. We're going to do this. We got you scheduled in two weeks. We'll see you there. It's surgery. You got it. And you're like, whoa, like I haven't processed what you said yet. I haven't taken it before the Lord. And I know not a lot of people think that way in our lives, even a lot of Christians, you know, don't necessarily stop and think because I didn't for a long time. Stop and think like the first thing I have to do here is I have to go and pray and I have to pause and I have to think and you know, sometimes they can be like, oh, I'm going to make it feel like there's no time for that. There's no time. There's no time. And sometimes, you know, a severe diagnosis, maybe there's not, maybe there's, maybe there's minutes. Right. But you're never gonna, you're never gonna be sorry that you sought the Lord even if it's for a moment, even if it's for a moment. And so it was, it was kind of like, okay, we have to stop. We have to think, none of this sits well in my spirit. None of this feels, I'm a firm believer that I am what the Bible says I am. The Bible says I'm healed and no sickness can come down my dwelling because I'm in the shadow of the Almighty. And I'm covered by his feathers and sheltered by his wings. So that's who I am. So it doesn't make sense that you would tell me that I have cancer because that's not what the Bible says about me. And so, you know, there's a place in Isaiah where it says like, who's reporter you're gonna believe? And we also see that when the Lord told Moses to go and take the land, Joshua and Caleb came back, we're gonna do it. They saw the same things the other guys did, but they just believed the report that the Lord had given, which is I've already given it to you. And the other guys didn't believe that. They believed what they saw. And so you have to choose. And, you know, I say this in the book, we're not denying that your body is under attack from cancer, we're not denying that there might be sickness or disease present in the flesh, but we're not letting it consume us. And that's the whole point of the book. It's called, I am not a cancer patient 'cause it doesn't matter if your body is under attack with cancer or Alzheimer's or MS or a cold. It's not yours. It doesn't matter what shows up in the flesh and in the body. That's not who you are. Who you are is found in the word and in the Bible. And it's hard sometimes to keep our feet grounded on that in the swirling, the swirling in the fear and the chaos of the whole thing. It can just be really tough. And so that's been kind of what I've been walking through the last year is following the Lord. And, you know, having those moments where the fear comes and the craziness and like Peter walking on the waves. It's like sometimes I'm walking, I'm fixed. I got my eyes and I'm walking on water and I'm looking at the Lord and then a doctor calls or somebody texts me something, you know, oh, my cousin just died of that or, you know, did you see that so and so died of cancer last week or and then the noise starts in your head. And that's the enemy, you know, and so then you start to sink and you kind of got to regroup and refocus and you have those moments and it's like waves. But it's been just a learning process of just focusing on the word and remembering that it says he's with you, he's always with you. You might be in the valley, but he's with you. And if he's with you in the valley, you're coming out. There's just no other way. And just kind of seeing like what does that look like to lean on him, really trust him, really follow him and believe every single word in the Bible as it's written. And that's a hard thing too is when it comes to healing, it's like a lot of people have come up with their own ideas about it and I was one of these people are, I had heard other people say things and I thought, well, that makes sense, you know, I'm gonna stick with that belief as well. And then when I dug into the Bible and did some real research, you know, I couldn't find some of that stuff. None of that was Bible and I couldn't figure out why I had been taught that or why I had chosen to believe that and accept those things as truth for years. And so, you know, just things like, well, the Lord will heal you but in his own good time. That's not in the Bible anywhere. I've never heard Jesus does not say that anywhere. Every person that came to him was healed then, you know, there are acts of obedience like go and show yourself to the priest and as they went, they were healed and you know, pick up your mat and walk and as he picked up his mat, he was restored but never does Jesus ever say, I am gonna heal you but it's not God's will for you to be healed right now. So, you know, it's gonna get a lot worse. It's gonna take a lot more of your money and a lot more of your health. It's gonna take you away from your family for another couple years while it eats away at you. Then I'm gonna heal you when I get good and ready. That's not in Scripture and I thought that it was. I thought, you know, it's all in God's time and maybe it's not his will to heal everybody. And I know there's a lot of controversy around these things but man, I've picked the Bible apart and I'll tell you that some of those things I was taught and some of those things I believed are just not in there. And I think it's just our human nature of needing to understand and needing things to make sense and they don't sometimes and the Bible is true whether it makes sense to you or not. It's true whether you understand it or not. And so I think sometimes we say, oh, well, God heals. So we pray the prayer and then we didn't get healed. So then we think, well, we come up with a way to explain why it didn't happen. And so then those things can happen of like, well, you know, it's just probably not his time 'cause some people it's not his time or maybe he doesn't heal everybody or maybe it's his will. He's gonna teach you a lesson, you know, for the next couple of years, why you suffer under cancer. And then when it's really bad, then he'll heal you but you gotta learn some things first. That's just not in Scripture. And I know why people come up with it. I know why people believe. And I know people that firmly believe those things that I'm not trying to knock anybody or offend anybody or hurt anybody, make anybody mad. I really am not 'cause I was that person. I believed those things and I've spent the last year in the Bible and digging into teachings about these things and looking at the old language and it's wild. God's will for us is good pleasing and perfect. Death is his final enemy, you know? He's not killing people so that they can get their healing when they get to heaven. They do get their healing when they get to heaven. Sometimes, you know, we don't know why it worked out that way in certain situations but God's enemy is death. It says that in the Bible. It says that in verse Corinthians. So he's not using a product of sin because death came into the world through Adam's sin. He's not using a product of sin accomplishes will help people's lives. And that's such a controversial thing but that's really what the book is about. It really is about pulling the scriptures out, looking at the word of God. What does the word say? Not what's my opinion and in this book, you're not even gonna get my experience with healing. What you're gonna get is the word of God and most of the book is birthed out of my misunderstanding thinking that I had something right. It did not work. God showing me that's because that wasn't right. And me, oh crap, now I see it. Oh, I get it now. Shoot, I missed that hard. So I am gonna write that down so the next person maybe doesn't miss it the way that I do. And that's a lot of the book is just birthed off of things that I missed that I learned hindsight. Somebody said, you're going through this battle like such grace, like you're carrying it so well. And maybe from the outside, maybe because the book was birthed out of it, but my experience from the inside, it really feels like I tried to get on a horse and I fell and my foot got caught in the reins and he drug me for a year and a half. Thou send me off of this rock and that and through the fist soul bushes and every time I bow back up on my saddle, I fell back off again. And that's what it feels like was every time I thought, oh, I think I get it now. Oh, this makes more sense. Oh, I didn't understand that about the Lord or I didn't understand that about the Bible or wow, faith is so important or God really is good and I get knocked back down again and realized, well, I thought I had it. I thought I understood, but there's just so many layers too, but that you just never stop learning and having new light, new revelation. Yeah, so the book is really about who's reporting you're gonna believe. You can fight whatever it is that you're fighting and you aren't caught that fight, but it's not who you are and the enemy will come for your identity. You will come to try to tell you who he thinks you are and get you to say things like I have cancer or my cancer or and there's so much power in Mark 11 that says whatever you say, you shall have whatever you say if you believe in your heart. Well, if you're succumbed to this and saying, yeah, I have cancer and there's a 30% chance I'm gonna live and you believe that in your heart, that's what you get. So it's like, how can we shift that and say, the reality is there's an attack on my body and this is the statistics and this is what the doctor said. But the truth is, I will have a long life in the land that I'm given that's in the Bible. I will die at a ripe old age in peace that's in the Bible. I can have 120 years that's in the Bible. Jesus is the good shepherd who binds up our wounds and takes care of us. God is Jehovah Raph of the God who heals me. That's the truth and so when you speak the truth out, it brings peace, it brings clarity. It helps us hear him to know, and kind of be led through our treatment as well. Like, should I do this surgery? Should I see that doctor? Should I take that drug? Because the devil will just have us just succumb to whatever he says to do and shove us around with fear and make us scared enough that we'll say yes to anything. And the Lord is over there like, "Mayday, calm down. Did anybody ask me?" Like, didn't even ask me. And you know, he leads with peace. He doesn't shove with fear. So if you're making a decision out of fear, or if you feel panicked and afraid and see about it, "Okay, fine, I'm just going to do this thing and panic, panic, panic, panic." And because I've been there so many times, like, calm down. Because the devil shoves us with fear. He drives us like cattle. And the Lord leads us like a gentle shepherd like sheep. And I think that's such an important distinction. So that's why I wrote the book. And I don't know everything. (laughs) I learned it. I don't fall off that horse and get and dragged. But, you know, I'm learning as I go. And I want other people to be helped by it as well, you know? - Absolutely. - So how are you doing now? I'm doing fantastic. I feel great. I feel great this whole thing is, you know, it can be, it can really be a nightmare. It can be. And if you let it. But I live so many days in peace and joy and just faith that God is faithful. And yeah, I'm just doing fantastic. I really am. I'm just, you know, eyes on the Lord and eyes on enjoying my life. You know, at one point at the end of 2025, I feel like every time a new year rolls around, you hear everyone saying like, "Oh, 2025 sucked." Or that was a worst year in my life. 2020 is gonna be better every year. You know, it's the same kind of thing. Oh, I can't wait for the new year 'cause this year just wrecked me or whatever. And I was just thinking in my head like, "Wow, I guess 2025 did kind of suck," you know? I diagnosed with cancer and like just all this stuff. That sucked and the Lord grabbed my heart so fast and he was like, "Excuse me." What? Did you forget how I went ahead of you and left provision and paved it the way to take the sting out of this thing for you? Mm-hmm. What was coming, he made a way for us to go to Disney, not even a month, like three weeks before I got the diagnosis. And we never would have done that had we known because it's fun to say, you know? But he made a way for that. We had a friend give us a free week in their Airbnb house and they didn't know anything that was going on. They were like, I just feel like God's saying I should offer this to you for a week for your family because I love you guys so much. And we were like, what? Like thank you, Lord. And just financial provision and another trip to another friend's Airbnb for free in Tennessee just to visit and spend time with them and get out of Ohio and be able to go on adventures. And there's just so many ways that the Lord showed up throughout the year to take the sting out of what was happening. And so I think a lot of times it really is perspective and staying rooted and connected to the Father. You know, Keith Moore in one of his messages, he preaches about how if Jesus is the good shepherd and he makes us lie down in green pastures and he leads us besides still waters, he makes sure that we're fed and healed and our wounds are bound up and we're cared for and we have green pastures splitting. He's, you know, David fighting off wolves and bears for us and to protect us. And if he's our good shepherd, then we ought to be walking so close to him that if he stops, we're gonna run into him because he supplies everything that we need and he's our protection and our keeper and he knows where the food is and where the water is and his grass is good, pleasing and perfect. And I learned that a lot from him and one of the things I learned is you can't read a whole book of the Bible on Monday and think that that's enough to sustain you even to Thursday. No, we gotta read every day, it's our daily bread just like mana came just for the day. There's not enough there to sustain you every day. You have to get into it, you have to feast on the word, feed your spirit every single day. Those things have just helped. It's just helped me stay on top of this thing, keep it under my feet where it belongs and just not be overcome by it. The devil walks around like a roaring lion seeing who he may devour, which means there are some he can devour and there are some he cannot devour. - Right. - So staying close to the shepherd, getting as close as I can to the shepherd and not leaving is how I keep from being devoured. It's helped me so much because the fear comes, the anxiety comes, the panic, the lies of the enemy and it's all meant to devour me and throw me off course and get me to give up my faith and just, you know, learning that there really is safety and a shadow is. Just keeps me going, keeps me full of joy and full of life and yeah, it's been the thing that kept me from being devoured by all of this. - Mm-hmm. - Yeah. So what versus anchor Jew during this time? So there's a few. Mark 11, 23 and 24. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, may you be lifted up and thrown into the sea and it will happen, but you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you you can pray for anything and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours. That's so important. You know, and there's another scripture that says, if you believe with your mouth, you shall have whatever you say. And that's so important too. And I've just learned the power of words because when an attack comes and a fear comes, like this could kill you or just whatever the enemy is trying to throw if, you know, it's like learning from Jesus in the desert. He wasn't like Eve where he tried to like, you know, on his own might stand against it. No, he used the word of God. - Mm-hmm. It is written, it is written, it is written. And so I've learned that through this verse and the other that you really need to guard your mouth and guard what you say, guard your words. And 'cause you can really have whatever you say and you can say, you know, every October, I get bronchitis. Every October, I know October's coming. I'm gonna get bronchitis and I guarantee in October, you're gonna get bronchitis or you can say, I'm healthy and healed. No sickness can come near my dwelling. Bronchitis doesn't have authority over me and my family. I'm healthy, I never get bronchitis. I don't have bronchitis. I'm never gonna have bronchitis again. You believe in your heart and that's what you'll have. And so that's been such an anchor to me, those two verses. And then the big guy, the big one is Hebrews 10, 23. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm for God can be trusted to keep his promise. And that's the biggest one. You know the Bible says all his promises are yes and amen. And anything that you pray that's according to his will, you can have it's yes, it's a yes every time. It's not a, well, not for you, you know, 'cause God's not a person. He doesn't say yes to one person and no to another. And it's so important to just remember hold tightly, not wavering without wavering, without wavering, without wavering. That's the biggest thing. It's like hold tightly to what you know, hold tightly to who God is, hold tightly to the confession that you made about him. And he can be trusted to keep his promise every single one of them. That's just been the biggest thing for me. I have a necklace that says 10, 23 on it. And I just, you know, sometimes in a moment, I just grab it. I'm like, hold tightly, hold tightly. Don't waver. God can be trusted. He has promised it. It pulls me back out of whatever's going on. And then gets me into a place where at least I can speak confessions out to fight the enemy, to fight the thoughts that are coming, to fight the anxiety that are coming, you know, by his stripes I am healed. His words are medicine and healing to my whole body. I will live to 120 years. I will have a long life in the land that I'm given. He is a good shepherd who heals me. And once you start saying those confessions, you're defeating the devil just like Jesus did in the desert. And sometimes this one, you know, reminds me, hold tight to his promises. Hold tight, hold tight. And it gets my head right so that I can get back into warrior mode, you know, and use my sword, the sword of my mouth to fight this thing. So yeah, those were the main verses. There are many others as well. So well, you know, it's kind of crazy that you said that verse because that's the verse that is the foundation for this year's workshop. Coming up in the fall. That's fantastic. I'm not even joking. He was 1023 because it's called Anchored in His Promises. And so that's actually the anchor verse for that. Which is so cool. That's awesome. Perfect. Perfect. I love it. So why did you say that? do you believe that now was the time to bring this book out? And what is your main goal for the book? - Well, I was in an Airbnb in Tennessee in the middle of the wilderness, between Christmas and New Year's, and there was my friend's house, and there was a devotional sitting somewhere in her house on a shelf, and it said, it was devotions from a deer stand, I think. And I thought that about devotions. I really do. And you just think about like you could give that as a gift to somebody who just loves deer hunting, it could minister to them, even if they're not a Christian, it could maybe be light to their life. Or if you're like, I love devotions, but none of these appealed to me, there's devotions out there for everything. And I think that is so cool, because it's such a practical way to reach people where they are, and just to people and who they are, and still reach them. And I was just kind of like smiling to myself, walking, and I thought that's so cool. And the Lord just kind of grabbed my heart right there, and was like, you're gonna write a devotional for people fighting a cancer battle. And I was like, I mean, I was shook by that. I walked into the bedroom, and Zach was, I think like folding clothes or something in there, and I was like, he was like, are you okay? Like he could see it on my face. Are you okay? Are you okay? And I was like, just don't talk to me for a minute. I was like processing, and I'm thinking like, what? Now, like that doesn't make sense. Like I don't know anything about battling cancer. I'm botching this whole thing, you know, like going back to the image of being dragged by this horse. Like how am I supposed to help anybody? I'm messing this whole journey in a big way. And I was moved by that too, because I think, you know, I can write a hundred books because I want to, just for people about whatever. It's like fun, no big deal. But when the Lord says write this book, that's a tall order. And it suddenly has this different kind of responsibility attached to it and like honor. And I was like, Lord, I don't think I'm qualified to write anything for you. And it felt so like such a tall order and why me? And I'm not the person for this. And I'm messing it up. You can't use what I have to say. I'm screwing it up. And it was three or four minutes. And I'm just like going through this battle in my mind of like, what I can't do that year. He started giving me ideas. And he's like, you're going to write this. And I was like, oh my gosh, I need my phone. So I'm like making notes in my phone. So I just decided, OK, I'm going to do it. The Lord asked me to do it. And he's already pulling up into remembrance things that I went through in ways that he showed up in ways that he talked to me through this journey. OK, I'll write that down. Oh, I forgot about that. I'll write it down. And so I just felt like, you know, it was selfish and disobedient for me to say no and to not write it. And to keep what I've learned through this, a secret, or just for my personal use, it should be for anybody that needs it. It's not just my story. It's his now that he's stepped into it. And yeah, so I mean, it was like end of January. And I was like, all right, here we go. And I just started writing it. He gave me the title and the intro and the whole thing. It was just inspired by him. And so we got the book done and just self-published it, which is a lot of work. A lot of work. So I for sure thought that this would have been out, like, I don't know, June or something. Jokes on me, because publishing isn't bigger monster than you think it is. We started a digital well-appressed company, a media company called 1023 Press. So we can do other digital products as well and publish our own books and that kind of stuff. So that was a whole thing. And then it was just one thing after the next. So it just kind of-- the book was just done when it was done. And friends of mine, Dave and Ashley Willis, they wrote the "Forward for the Book" and invited me to be on their podcast, the "Naked Marriage" podcast, to promote it. And so that will happen in August. And so I just feel like it was just the timeline just happened the way that it happened. And it was just the Lord. So I just felt the call. And I said, OK. And he just kind of worked out the steps for it. Not that it was easy. And it was more of that being dragged behind a horse the whole time. But it's just kind of his timeline and things just flowed and it just worked the way that it worked. So I really just hope that it helps people see that God's will for them is good, pleasing, and perfect. That his will is that everybody be healed right now. That's what's in the Bible. I've tried to find other things that made sense with my theories. There is nothing else there. It is as well that multitudes upon multitudes were healed, whether they believed in him or not. Everyone that they brought was healed. And that's the will of God is just in there. So I just want people to understand that and know that he is good, that he's with them. And the Bible says to fight the good fight of faith. So it's a battle. And just because you lose a fight here or there, the devil gets the best of you. You waiver, you give up, you throw in the towel, you miss it. It doesn't matter. Pick it back up. Keep going. It's an end game. It's a marathon. It's not a sprint. So faith is something that we just keep growing and learning about and understanding more. It's not hard, but you got to be connected to the father. And the Holy Spirit will help you with your faith if you're stuck and you don't know why or you have in a hard time believing. There's a story in the Bible where the father of a sick kid said, I do believe, help me with my unbelief. So I do believe. And then five minutes later, I'm wavering. Lord, help me with that. What gets me stuck? What has me confused? What has me wavering? What gets me? And I'll help you with it. That's in the Bible. It's an example of him doing that. The boy was healed the same hour. So I just want people to get closer to God, to know who he is, and to not lose their identity to this thing. It doesn't matter if it's cancer. The book would minister to somebody with Alzheimer's. I mean, it doesn't matter if somebody going through a divorce or somebody who just lost someone struggling with infertility. Bible principles are Bible principles across the board. This is geared with cancer. But the principles in there just help everybody because it's Bible. You don't have to lose to this thing. Don't lose who you are. The Bible tells you who you are. You're healed whole. You're a child of God. You're an heir to the throne. You're succeeded with him at heavenly places. He calls you friend. He sees you. Oh, Roy, the God who sees me. That's who you are. Period. If it's in the Bible, it's true. And that's who you are, according to the Word of God. So don't let the enemy steal that from you. Convince you. Get you living in some kind of dark place thinking that you're a cancer patient or you're a statistic. Or now you need to be on the watch because what if it comes back one day because statistics say that it's going to know who are you? The Bible tells you. Don't lose your identity in it. You can't just lay down under it and let it wreck your mind and your energy and your family and your finance. You got to stand up. That's not who I am and speak the Word of God over yourself. And that's what I want people to know is like this is a fight. And you can win it because the Lord is with you. And you have the one weapon that defeats everything else and that's the Word of God. Amen. Absolutely. So, Gail, I have loved getting to have part two of our conversation. Yeah. So where can people find you and where can they get a copy of your book? OK. So you can find me on YouTube at Galen's Act Show and TikTok Galen's Act Show. I'm Gail_Shar on Instagram. And then you can also go to my website. It's just gailshar.com. And there's a link there to buy the book, or you can find it on Amazon as well. If you go to the website, there's just a button on the main page that you can click. And it'll take you right to the Amazon page to buy it. If you don't want to go on Amazon and search for it. But there's just more about me on the website as well. More about me and my family, my story, who I am. And oh, there's also a resources page on the website. If you're interested in learning more about healing if some of this kind of stirred something in you, I'm not a Bible teacher. I'm not a scholar. I don't know all this stuff. I learned it from other people who are anointed to preach and teach. And I learned it from digging into the Bible. So there's a resources page on my website. And there's a lot of video teachings, books, about faith and healing, and sustaining through a struggle. So there's a whole list of things that will help you with links to those things. And there's also a downloadable resource on the resources page that is just a list of confessions that are from the book. So at the end of every day, there's a confession and a prayer section. And all of confessions at the end of each day have been compiled into a list on my website. And you can download that. You can keep it on your phone. You can print it out. You can just pull it up every day and just say those confessions when the enemy starts to attack. And so all that's on the resources page. So make sure you check that out if you need more teaching on this kind of stuff. Absolutely. And I will put links to all of that in the show notes. And, Gail, I'm so proud of you. Thank you. I do know what a beast self-publishing is. Having went through it myself. And it took me two and a half years to get my project out. But I'm so proud of you for bringing this out. Summary:

FAQs

The book emphasizes that your identity is not defined by sickness or disease, but by what the Bible says about you—such as being healed and covered by God. It focuses on shifting from fear-based thinking to faith in God's Word.

She described feeling God's gentle pursuit, like a stray cat quietly waiting to be invited in, despite her living in sin and rejecting Him for years. Eventually, she opened her heart, and He transformed her life.

She advises pausing to seek the Lord first, even if only for a moment, rather than acting out of fear. God leads with peace, while the enemy drives with fear, so calm prayer helps guide treatment choices.

She explains that reality includes medical facts like a cancer diagnosis, but truth is found in God's Word—such as promises of healing and long life. Speaking the truth brings peace and clarity.

She challenges the idea that God heals only in His own time or that it may not be His will to heal everyone, noting that nowhere in the Bible does Jesus delay healing or refuse it.

She feels fantastic, living in peace, joy, and faith, with her eyes on the Lord and enjoying her life, despite the challenges of the past year.
