[Music] Namas Kat Shrutahu. I am Nadesha call SPS Hindi teammates. International Women's Day makes a cargo National and I am very happy. As the world's artificial intelligence, Jalvaayu Parivartan or Mahamari Jai Si Chunotis are doing, such as science, technology, engineering and mathematics, the future of women has become a part of it. So STEM, that is, the knowledge of science, engineering and the development of the race, is also made by the scientists today. So, in the work of the students, the only skill today is the skill of the four students. In the next lesson, the students are given the knowledge of the students who study in STEM, which shows the results of the research. Why is it so? How the students are changing the skills and the women are changing the skills and the girls, how the students can learn from science. But, in the international center for Radio Astronomy Research, Dr. Renusharma, tells her story. When my journey is very diverse, I worked in a different field in India. But this is also a STEM day, when I came to Australia in the first 26 years, so, just my technologies, or my skills, I am a STEM as a basic general Sikhye thing, or a customer PhD, I transferred that to the people who are part of creating this institute, International Center for Radio Astronomy Research. That has become one of the peak bodies, it's a very related to the square, kilometer area project as well. So, my work was only a founding supportive culture, and a institute created with our team, with our team, where we have no equal opportunity, we have no innovation, innovation, and culture as well as the women in particular, we can advance. University of New South Wales, Dr. Anupya Agarwal is also working with Vigyan Shetra and is working on the work. Let's tell you the way. So, my mother was a professor in Pakistan, so we were all old brothers and sisters, and all of us studied science, and we've taken up careers in science. So, that was my first introduction to this drill. When we first came to Australia, it was very important, it was a dream to actually work in electron microscopy. I don't know what was the reason. And I got an opportunity here within me, and that is how I actually started working on the project as a part of my PhD. So, what are the values of science and science? Traditionally, in our society, and I'm talking more from an Indian perspective, engineering is not there, cup of tea, maths, so this is a very difficult question, so you can do biology and other things. So, in our culture, it is ingrained. Nothing supports this claim, but this is how it is. So, one of the reasons, at least for Indian women, that could be one of the reasons why generally, girls go towards non-science. Because, in our culture, of course, things are changing, and it has been changed a lot since the last 15-20 years. But, first of all, this is not the reason why you can see that your primary role is in the family. So, you'll be able to learn science, it's good. But, you are the primary caregiver, so you can see that. So, if they are a consentive, they may not be in the beginning, but I think they are changing now, because I'm so happy that they are. Look, there are a lot of things that we need to do. When we see, especially in the Cald communities, where our Indian community comes, we live somewhere in the world. A catitude, a very difficult match, science, engineering, or even a few things, whether it's easy or biology. That has been a long-standing kind of mindset. I'm not saying today, this is a historical perspective. But, after that, when a girl takes interest in the interest, then she goes to the classroom and gets a lot of girls. She gets confident there, that she is all girls. And, she says to them, "This girl is also coming to the classroom." So, there is that bit of a confidence level. Then, school comes. So, many teachers say, "Oh, these are very difficult subjects. You need to work hard." This is still lingering in our systems. The other factor is imposter syndrome. There are many girls in ladies, there is an imposter syndrome that is inbuilt. Maybe I'm not like this. I got it so much, maybe I should not have met this girl. So, this is an imposter syndrome that has a lot of girls. They are a little away from these subjects. Then, it seems that this is physically more, like, a very practical engineering. Required, you know, as strength, etc. So, there are multiple factors in which you have to kind of discourage girls to take up STEM. But this needs to be corrected. And it is being corrected to a great extent. University of Melbourne's Shivani Pusuchya says, "Qun ka Rujan, Science Kepti, 'How's it going?' Yes, so I am Punjabi Indian and I've been very fortunate that my parents have been really supportive in me finding what I want to do." It's interesting though, because I wouldn't say that my interest in STEM was initiated by them at all. If anything, I think in the Indian community, it's a bit of an unclear space, specifically scientific research. It's not like engineering or computer science. It's in the lab and it's an area that I guess at least my parents were not so used to. So, the challenges were really explaining to them what it is, what a career looks like, what it means for my family timeline and building my own family. And they were very supportive in me doing what I wanted, but they were surprised and I guess confused about what that meant. And they've been, I guess, the challenges came in one size started. I mean, a Bachelor of Science seems quite straightforward, but then the career path after that is not a traditional, it's not, okay, I've done my undergraduate, now I'm going to go get a job and that pays 9 to 5 and that's it. Instead, it involves a lot more education, it involves doing a Master's or Honors and a PhD and then what does that mean and then why am I still in the lab and they were very confused by this concept.

[email protected] starting a new life in Australia isn't easy another of companies have rejected me from top I feel like oh I gonna quit a give up working progress is a podcast to help skill migrants rebuild their careers in a new country you'll hear inspiring real-life stories expert advice and valuable tips to help you find a job and advance your career working progress listen now wherever you get your podcasts Dr Anupriya Agrawal is there I think in 2026 things have changed a lot so when I was growing up and I think one of the biggest things that we can celebrate is the families of perspective can do we are most supportive and at least now as my generation has become a little more successful even if it is good to get married but still I mean she has a right to a career and she should why not? so what is the need to try to approach the STEM girls and what else is needed to do these are very initiatives like my gender STEM plan the STEM Decadal plan in Australia especially to encourage women and then there are lots of initiatives at a senior level coding for girls at recruitment level for superstars and STEM what are the initiatives? SAGE, science, in Australia, gender equity, SAGE for university level so these everything matters everything is having an impact to encourage girls and the other thing is role models if you don't see them you won't be them you should have seen them you know the women who are very scientists or are very leadership positions are actively contributing their voice, their value and their influence when these role models come they are creating programs these programs are creating all of these things and they make a real difference at school level or at recruitment level this could be something so this is an issue of pipeline today pipeline will be very important when girls in school will be good they will be able to grow and then in a workplace they will join in a supportive and they will have opportunities not undermining them there is an unconscious bias towards recruitment for women in STEM if you address it and create a supportive work where women are given opportunities relative to the breaks etc. you have to take care of responsibilities women's caring responsibilities are also a very big factor in which they are connected and they are not able to come because there are competing responsibilities so now there are lots of programs where your merit is made if you have a break then there is no problem so it is relative you have been for so long so I think there are lots of initiatives which are being taken to help address this kind of issue Shivani is also a very important topic so I mean there is a lot of energy being put into supporting women I think for me all I can talk is personally that I definitely felt supported when I could write on an application that I have taken nine months off to have my child and go on maternity leave and this is a disruption in my progress where the challenger becomes is when you return back to work and then they think that there are those challenges that suddenly disappeared but they haven't now you have young children you might be breastfeeding and so on and so on and I think that is the space where industry needs to help a little bit more and have more open dialogue as to the disparity and the challenges that women face once they return to work and they are working part time and they are doing pickups and drop-offs that's the area that needs some space help so the people who are going to be in the same state for those young girls what will be the condition Dr. Rehnu Sharma First of all you are absolutely right STEM is for you and you are for STEM Skye is the lower limit for you if you put your mind to it and if you aspire for it in some form there is no need to stay behind you are completely you are enough as you are you are completely right you can do everything and never take attention to things that you have behind you because you are only going to be the first one and remember if you are born from STEM then you will be born more than the elderly
Change took her say start her so ہم کہتے ہیں کہ گہوڑمنٹی نیشیٹیم ہے اور institution دیکھا جائے کو legally everyone has right to education right چایپ male or female but condition a freedom in the sense of yes legally all of us are equal but they are so cycle pressures so more homies I think awareness is the biggest thing to educate people to educate families and other than that I think things are going in the right direction D lie okay now what are the recent example that you just during covid right because of the work that we were doing from the covid care virus we were doing a platform and technologies you see vaccine response study custody right so it meant very very long hours that work for me very very long hours but throughout the thing my family was there always always my husband was my son my mom was staying with us at that time never said that you are going to be with us all the time and you are going to be with us all the time nothing nothing nothing so the support of that level we can give our young generation a good thing so I think that we go a long way a long way because we get confidence that no one is the one who does work and your best support is there so this is a collective and individual collective is not an individual we can always blame the collective society has not done government but its unit basic unit is family yes yes yes you tell us what is the report of the STEM equity monitor when university level and wet sector and when you see 7 people with them, in 2000-18, the STEM party group was only 21% of the people in the community and the percentage of the people who completed the party was only 21% but today the people are opening their minds and minds in the STEM sector so this is the end of the video starting a new life in Australia isn't easy another of companies have rejected me from top I feel like oh I am going to quit I have given up working progress is a podcast to help skilled migrants rebuild their careers in a new country you will hear inspiring real-life stories expert advice and valuable tips to help you find a job and advance your career Working progress, listen now wherever you get your podcasts.
