I'm, of course, your host, John Campia. I'm joined coming to us from the observatory writer director producer, Mr. Robert Meyer, Bernette. How you doing today, Rob? John, I'm still basking what happened at the end of House of the Dragon. I can't, I can't stop thinking about it. So good. It was so good. Also joining us, of course, is our technical director, Mr. Jonathan Boycos here, Jonathan. How you doing? Hello, everybody. I've got some weird Florida weather going on here in Burbank. It's sunny, humid, and raining, but all the same time. Yeah. And of course, most importantly, guys, you guys are here. Thank you so much for being here and making our little show a part of your day. And here's how today's show is going to go. We're going to start off by talking about a few predetermined topics we got lined up for you guys. Then in the second part of the shows, when I'm going to take your live comments and questions, if you have a thought theory opinion, question or an issue, you'd like me to address, go ahead and use the super chat feature and fire it on into our live chat to caveats. One, you got to be watching live in order to be, to do that. But secondly, as long as it's a topic or a question that I deem appropriate to be addressed on the show, then we'll address it on the second part of the show. All right, guys, with that all down, oh, just a quick side note, I got to say, thanks to a bunch of you guys in live chat who've been saying, "Oh, John, you got to check out a screen X." I went out and had my first experience at a screen X last night. We went to the cinema in Orange County, and we went to the screen X to watch Spider-Man Brand New Day, my third screening of it. It was really good. I had a really good time. It was such a different kind of experience than I'm used to having. But again, thank you to all you guys who in the live chat who kept telling me, I should go and check out a screen X. I did it and had a really good time at it. Anyway, with that all down, guys, let's get things started here, shall we? And we are going to start off with this. You know, we've been talking a lot about God of War as the really unfortunate thing because I'm very excited for God of War, mostly because the greatest showrunner in the history of television, Ronald D. Moore is going to be running the show, which I'm very excited about. But then I got really excited when they announced that Ryan Hearst from Sons of Anarchy, outsiders, and of course, he's in the Odyssey right now, was going to be playing Kratos. I thought because he's a tremendous actor, and I was really looking forward to it. Well, of course, then the very sad news came that he was going to have to drop out because he tore a bicep, and it was literally going to be probably about a year before he could get back to the place to do all the stuff for the role. So they decided they needed to recast. Well, in the shadow of all of that, God of War fans, this is from IGN. God of War fans agree Ryan Hearst new Kratos pick looks much better than the prime videos previously widely ridiculed picture. Because you remember, they put out that one picture that that was just a promotional piece. There's the one they put out that I thought looked fine. I mean, we're not just it's just a still he's leaning over whatever, but that was just a promotional pick that they took. Well, Ryan Hearst has now put out this picture. And I've got an inside screen too if you want to use it inside. Yeah, I'll bring up the side screen here for it. That's I'm I'm I'm sorry. That's Kratos. I'm sorry. That's that is Kratos. And you know, one of the things when we were talking about how sad I was for Ryan with the injury and everything, one of the things I said was I know that he literally spent like six months because he's always been a very big guy. He's always been a very, very big guy. But I felt really bad for him because he spent six months like really refining his physique for it. And and hope that was his character's name and sons of energy. He's a big dude. Like he's not just what he's he's a tall big towering, intimidating dude. And I just look at this and I'm like, there's Kratos. There's Kratos. And you know, it's funny because then I was reading a bunch of comments that viewers and people left. And some of them are saying like, man, they did that they did themselves dirty by not releasing this picture instead of that other one. They put out his promotional piece. But here's the other thing too. I read a lot of people then writing after seeing this picture going Amazon made a horrible mistake by not waiting for him. They're doing him dirty by not waiting for him. And listen, you guys know I am a world level fan of Ryan Hearst. I love Ryan Hearst. And I was so excited about him getting this role. But even I who this was the thing I was looking forward to the most with Ryan Hearst playing the role. Even I am like, dude, you can't wait a year for this guy to come back. You literally have a thousand people working on this show. You can't ask everybody like for a year. Like if if the second unit director fell down and broke his hip, do you just stop production for a year until his hips better so he can get up and do his job again? No. I mean, it's the old adage guys, but I mean, the show must go on. You next man up as they would say in football. The logistics would be a nightmare. And again, I say this as a massive fan of Ryan Hearst, who was desperate to see him play this role. And again, I mean, this, this picture, there it is. I'm like, it just makes me weep even more because I just, because first of all, if for those you haven't watched outsiders and not many of you haven't, you shouldn't. It was a terrible show, but Ryan Hearst was amazing in it. For those you haven't seen outsiders or seen Suns of Anarchy or whatever. I get it. You don't know what kind of acting shops he has. He's a great actor and him playing Kratos would have been so good. Like I'm totally happy if they do go with Dave Batista in the interim, totally happy if they go with Dave Batista in the interim. We'll see if that actually works out or not, but oh my God, guys, I look at this picture and I was already sad that we're not getting Ryan Hearst playing Kratos. I'm like so sad. We're not getting him playing Kratos now. Anyway, Rob, you had a chance to take a look at Ryan's image here. What did you think about it? Well, I just feel so bad for the guy. You know, I mean, getting an iconic role like this, if he was able to go through it all, and I mean, this show is going to be very, very, it's going to be watched. And if it's great, it's from Ron Moore. It's probably going to be a fan favorite. And I just, I think about what could have been, I just hope that there's some kind of an insurance payout or something that it made it worth his while because look at when you get in that kind of shape, John, that's month's worth of work. Yeah, going paid. No way. Oh, no, yeah, I 100% he got paid. 100% he got paid. I was told I just feel bad for him because you know, I bet it's just, you know, when you lose something like this, and that's what I was thinking about. But hopefully, you know, the show that gets made and the show that we're going to get still going to be great. And I wish him a speedy recovery and I hope there's a lot of great things in store for him in the future. I'm sure, I'm sure Ron Moore will not forget his sacrifice and what happened. Okay. And he'll make sure that something, something will, something will come of it. We, we, to that point, Rob, like all three of us understand how this industry works and, and have gotten jobs because of our work and experience with other sets or other productions. What have you? There's, you don't know what is going to come about from this now because this may actually spur in a new opportunity for him with an Amazon. Especially with the Odyssey being as big as it is right now. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's, it's, it's really such a shame about it. But yeah, make no mistake. He is going to get absolutely paid from this. The one thing I've been saying is that, you know, in God of war, Ragnarok, the, the sequel game, Ryan Hearst, they actually modeled Thor after Ryan Hearst and other than the belly. And he voiced Thor in Thor Ragnarok. Now, as I realized, you know, a, a, a while back after I first said that, I realized they've already cast Thor. And I wouldn't want them to throw out the guy they already cast just to make room for Ryan. But I like that just would have been so poetic. It's like, okay, we don't need Thor till next year. Ryan will be ready. Ryan was Thor in the video game. It seems, it seems like a serendipity, right? But they've already got their Thor and I don't want them. But you know, you're right. Who knows? Maybe another acting opportunity comes along now in six or eight months when he's getting his mobility back on his arm that he wouldn't have been able to take if he had been great. So you never know what future brings. Here's open good things for him. All I know is that that dude look like fricking Kratos to me. Well, obviously, we got a couple of things Thanks a lot. Avengers Doomsday we're going to talk about here, especially with D23 rapidly approaching. But you know, one of the biggest pieces of news, one of the things they really started off their whole ad campaign with the thing they kicked off the public stuff about Avengers Doomsday was Chris Evans. It was putting out that little short thing they did. I'm not going to call it a trailer, but showing that little thing that Steve Rogers is back and he's got a little baby. He's got a baby. Look at that little cap. And so we know he's coming back well, Chris Evans was just out of fan expo and he made a comment that is very telling about things that are coming for good old Steve Rogers. The folks at the Hollywood Reporter write this. There are still several months before Avengers Doomsday arrives in theaters, but that didn't stop Chris Evans from giving fans a little teaser during a recent Q&A at fan expo Boston over the weekend because he's a Boston kid. The actor who reprises his role as Steve Rogers slash Captain American, the upcoming Marvel blockbuster said that his character storyline is quote unquote brutal. The Russo's love beating up Steve Rogers, Evan said of the Russo brothers who are Helming Doomsday. Their favorite thing to do is just beat the crap out of him. To them, that's what makes him a hero. And that's something that's someone who gets punched so many times, but still gets up. So they keep finding new ways to kick his butt. And this one was brutal. Now there is a segment of you guys out there who have read the documents going around kind of laying out and spoiling and letting out the plot line of Avengers Doomsday. So there's a bunch of you who know it, but and a bunch of you who don't. But I mean, I read that and I thought Chris might be given a little too much away, like his, because this isn't just, this isn't just another thing of an actor going, oh yeah, and this one, my character really has to dig deep or in this one, my character really goes to new places and, you know, it's, it's, it's the character, whatever. When Chris Evans, all I'll say, and I think I'm just safe in saying this, when Chris Evans comes out and says, this one is brutal for Steve Rogers and it really kicks his butt. He ain't lying, he ain't doing, he ain't doing just promo. This is going to be a rough one for Steve Rogers. And I'm really looking forward to it because you know what? He kind of said it jokling about how the Russo's really like to torture Steve Rogers. But he's right when he says, it's what makes him who he is. Like you can't say I can do this all day. If you're not just getting the crap kicked out of you and constantly coming back, like you need, that's what kind of makes him who he is. I would say the thing that makes him my favorite character in the MCU, like my overall comic book character is, you know, Magneto, but in the MCU specifically on screen, I think the element about him that makes him my favorite character is no other character embodies resiliency, like Steve's. He just constantly endures and then rises up anyway and then endures more and rises up anyway and endures more and rises up anyway. And that's the thing that I really like about him. And I think that is also going to be something that really gets highlighted a lot in Adventure Stoomsday. Anyway, Rob, you read the quote, you saw what Evans had to say. I mean, really, I, in reality, he didn't really reveal all that much and saying what he did. We of course know what he means by it. But I mean, what did you think about his comments and what did you think about specifically? These comments about how the Rousseau's kind of approach Steve Rogers, what did you think about it? Well, I like that because, you know, if you have a hero, you have to test his metal. And how do you test a metal by test a hero's metal, by throwing them into situations that they can barely get out of. And since they came on board at the MCU, they kept in America movies where they really put him through the ringer. You know, I mean, in Civil War, I still love the battle between Cap and, and Tony Stark at the end of that movie. Oh, it's so good. They're just, it's so good. And, and it's, it's like they said in like, like, like, like you put it, they really put it through the ringer in this, in this one. And I, and they're probably going to even go harder on him in Secret Wars. And I'm, I'm, I'm therefore, dude, I mean, and, you know, that's the whole thing. I mean, Captain America is a character that stands up for idealism in the face of horror. I mean, the guy threw himself on a hand grenade before he was a super soldier. He was willing to sacrifice his life for his, his platoon, even before he'd graduated as a, as a full-fledged soldier. And, and that's what we want from our heroes. And if it was easy for them, what good would they be? And clearly, I mean, it, they don't really go in with this. But how hard must it have been from the end of Civil War to Infinity War when he revealed himself? I mean, he was basically out on the run by himself having to stay hidden. Steve Rogers is, he embodies all the heroism of all the, the characters in the MCU. But it goes, it goes, I think here's the problem the MCU has. And I predicted after endgame, I predicted this would be a challenge for them and it would be a problem. But I think it's manifested even more than I, I thought, and here's the problem. He doesn't just manifest like a lot of the best qualities of characters in the MCU. He is the manifestation of the MCU to me, like I, I just, when endgame ended, I remember I did this thoughts on walks editorial, I said, it's going to be a real challenge for Marvel moving forward. And this is, again, this is like eight years ago. This is going to be a challenge for Marvel moving forward because Steve, in particular, but Steve and Tony, they are the heart and the soul and the faces of this cinematic universe. And when you, when we lose them now, it's going to be a very big challenge for them to replace them as those who are going to kind of represent the identity of the MCU. And they were never able to do it, like in the past seven years, eight years, they have not been able to do it. I think maybe they had designs for Tachala, maybe filling in one of those roles and, and Chadwick Boseman might have been able to do that. But of course, tragically, we'll never be able to find out. And I, I just don't know, like the problem with bringing Chris Evans and Steve back is, I don't know if you can let him go again. That's the problem of bringing him back is that I, I don't know that you can let him go again after that because he is the MCU, you know, and he's cap and it's, ah, yeah, it's going to be tough. But anyway, I'm just excited to see hopefully a really great movie. And then another one after that was Sequel Wars, and then we'll see what we'll go. Anyway, guys, the question is for you. What do you think about this? We've just had, of course, Chris Evans, Steve Rogers say, oh, yeah, this one is brutal. This is going to be brutal for Steve Rogers in Doomsday and, and it really is. But then also, what do you think about the things he said about how the Rousseau's kind of approach Steve Rogers? I actually thought that was kind of profound. I think he meant it as funny, but I thought it was kind of profound. Anyway, whatever you guys think, jump down to the comments section below and let us know your thoughts. Now for this one, I have to let you guys know that we're going to have to at least for the moment, put this one into the files of the rumor mill, because I have not yet, maybe by the end of the day, maybe even by the end of the show, this will be different. But for right now, I haven't been able to find any official arm confirming this, but a lot of people are saying it. So let's at least address it with that understanding that for now, it's going to be under the rumor mill. Reports are coming out right now that Avengers Doomsday tickets for all formats are going to go on sale worldwide this Friday. Now as many of you guys know, it was weeks ago that they put on tickets, but only in a limited number of theaters, the ones that qualify as the dumbest thing Marvel's ever done, Infinity Vision screens. Guys, there's no such thing as an Infinity Vision screen. It's just a made up thing they did to say to do a cover all for other large premium format screens that aren't IMAX. That's it. They don't have the IMAX screens, so they made up some nonsense thing like it's Infinity Vision. Anyway, so what you're talking about is AMC XL screens, you're talking regal for DX. text screens, you're talking about cinema, I can't remember what the name of cinema arc's large screen format is, but you're, you're talking about that stuff. That dole be cinemas, dole be prime cinemas, stuff like that. So you guys will remember that that went on sale a number of weeks ago. Well according to these reports this Friday, they're going to put the full gambit of tickets on sale worldwide. Now correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I believe this Friday is also Disney Pictures presentation at D20, pardon me, at D23. I don't think they're waiting till the Sunday. I think it's Friday that they're doing, guys in the live chat correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe like Pixar, Lucasfilm, Disney Animation, Marvel, I believe their big Sony pictures thing is Friday. And yes, I'm, it's being confirmed the live chat that the answer to that is yes. Thank you Diego for that. So that kind of does coincide the timing of that coincides with this. Now the second interesting thing about this and this one is definitely under the file of rumor mill is this guys what normally happens with big tent pole films on days their tickets go on sale. They drop new trailers. So there are whispers going around that and again, file this under rumor mill. There are whispers going around right now that the general gist of this is that on Friday during that D23 presentation that Marvel will do that they number one announced tickets are on sale number to drop a new trailer that will go along with the tickets going on sale. I sent out one or two emails. I only had time. I didn't have any time, but I sent out one or two emails today. I have not been able to independently confirm that any of that is true, just to be clear. But it does make sense and it does line up. So we'll see if that's actually what happens here, like I do believe they'll probably put the wider reach of tickets going on sale. But whether or not they drop the trail now if they drop the trailer and now we're doing that silly game of building ifs on top of ifs on top of ifs if the tickets go on sale, they might release a trailer and if there is a release a trailer, then the question becomes will it be the trailer they showed at San Diego Comic Con or would it be a new one? I would certainly hope it's the one they showed at San Diego Comic Con because the one at San Diego Comic Con was balls. It was so good. It was so much better than the one they've already released. Like it was absolutely fantastic and I think it would bring the house down. So I don't know. There's a lot of is here. It's definitely under the rumor mill, but I think what they want to do here, if the tickets do go on sale, I think what they want to do here is really their strategy becomes obvious that they want to capture again, the biggest opening weekend box office record. If they're putting all the tickets on sales right now, that means they are going full blast in trying to make sure that that opening weekend where they don't have any iMac screens might end up being the biggest opening weekend of all time. Of course, there's a little film called Dune that might get in its way a little bit. Dune three, but it seems like that's what they might be trying here. So anyway, Rob, there's a couple of questions here floating. They are number one. Do you think they are putting the tickets on sale this Friday as everybody around the web seems to be saying they are and if so, is that a good idea at this point or should they hold off on it? And then if that's true, could you see them dropping a trailer to go along with the tickets going on sale? And then if they do that, you see the dominoes falling here, is it the one they showed at San Diego Comic Con or would it be something completely different? How do you see this flow of logic playing out, sir? Well, sir, look, if they dropped ticket sales on Friday, they could be looking at those ticket sales throughout the duration of D23 and what better way to get people excited than to see how many tickets are sold. So I can see that it would be one of the buzz, the buzzes of D23 and it makes a lot of sense to me, especially because it helps Avengers end game on core and maybe interest in vision quest. And it also is piggybacking off the tremendous success of Spider-Man brand new day. So that makes sense to me that they're going to do that. And it would also make sense that they would release a new trailer because again, same thing, new trailer, new scenes to get people at D23 all fired up. They showed at D23 and that big auditorium, I think it's a smart move. I don't know if it's actually going to happen, but if it did happen, makes perfect sense to me because it's celebrating Disney, the end, they've had quite a good year. Obviously, Toy Story 5, another billion dollar grocer and it'll make everybody forget him want to and then it leads in, and Mandalorian and Grogu and Mandalorian and Grogu and it leads into, you know, the D23 celebrates Disney. It's for Disney fans and it's leading up to the end of the year. And I think that that makes a whole lot of sense. I just, and if they, by the way, the other question you ask is if they do release this trailer, I do think it is the trailer that they showed at Comic Con. That makes sense. They might have changed it in some way, but everybody seemed to really respond to that trailer and I think that that's something that would get the adrenaline pumping and it's also another way to, it wouldn't surprise me if at the end of the trailer, they remind everybody that Avengers Endgame Encore is coming or something or, you know, it's all going to be, I think as far as marketing goes, it works really, really well. So it wouldn't surprise me, it just pisses me off because then I have to figure out where I'm going to go see it. By the way, where am I going to buy my tickets? Oh, you haven't gotten your doomsday for the large format yet? No. Oh, I got, I already got several sets of mine. So, all right. So this brings up something really interesting because I said a little bit earlier that, you know, maybe traditionally it's a little early to be putting the, you know, the full gambit of tickets on sale and dropping in another trailer. But one of our viewers cash, I brought up his comment a minute ago. One of our viewers brought up a really good point is that you don't want to push doomsday too much prior to Spider-Man opening because you want to keep a good amount of attention on Spider-Man. But now Spider-Man has been out for a couple of weeks and you do want to ride that momentum of Spider-Man with Spider-Man being in theaters right now and breaking all kinds of records and audiences are absolutely loving it. You might want to slap your surfboard in the water and ride that, ride that wave. I mean, it might be time to get on that wave and start riding it. This is massive goodwill. Yes. Oh, you got to take advantage of that. Yeah, 100%. So, guys, the question is for you. There's a lot of reports going around right now saying that they're going to be putting the wide gambit of tickets, like not just those premium screens, but they're going to be putting all movie theater screens tickets on sale this Friday. I have not been able to independently confirm that so it may be true, it may not be true. Then the rumor goes, they may be attaching a new trailer to it, which would theoretically make sense because that's traditionally what these big tentpole movies do when they put their tickets on sale. All right, guys, with that down, we thought we would take a little time here today and to play ourselves a game of what's more likely? The way what's more likely works is really simple. I jumped on the YouTube community tab a little bit earlier today and I asked you guys to send in some scenarios of what's more likely. Tons of you guys sent in a whole bunch. We've gathered up a few of them. Jonathan's got them gathered in front of him right now. So Jonathan, what do we got up first? Well, first up, we're going to hear from Lil Goosie. Rob, what's more likely in this? First scenario. Destin, direct Shang Chi 2 or Spider-Man brand new day sequel first? You know what I think I'm going to go with the Shang Chi 2 sequel first, only because I think it's going to, I think there's been a Shang Chi 2 script or a story probably in the works for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if there already is some kind of a working draft of a script, whereas I think Spider-Man is going to take a little longer. Yeah. I don't just think it's going to take a little longer. It's definitely going to be Shang Chi 2. Like even Destin, Daniel Cretten recently said, oh yeah, already in active development on Shang Chi 2 and we just heard some comments from Kevin Feige's Amy Pascal, one of the producers of the Spider-Man films. Amy Pascal was just saying it's going to be a little bit before the next Spider-Man. I hope we don't have to wait too long to get another Spider-Man, but when both of the lead producers say, "Yeah, it's going to be a minute until we get another Spider-Man," and then Destin's already said, "Oh, yeah, we've already been in development of the new Shang-Chi," and Simu Liu is saying, "We're going to be seeing Shang-Chi sooner than you think." Look, I don't think necessarily we're going to get Shang-Chi in 2027, but yeah, I think it's a pretty absolute that we're going to get Shang-Chi to before we get the next Spider-Man movie. All right, Jonathan, what we got next? All right. Next up, we're going to hear from Amin, who says, and this is going to you, John, what's more likely Spider-Man crossing $1 billion at the domestic box office or Doomsday crossing $3 billion worldwide? Well, I mean, it's difficult because I've seen one of the movies, and we have not seen the other movie, right? It all depends on how good the film is. So Spider-Man, it's got a shot at making a billion domestic. I don't think it'll get there. It's losing its momentum like it was pacing like 200 million close to 200 million ahead of the Force Awakens. The Force Awakens is the current record holder for the biggest domestic box office of all time. But then after the second weekend, now Spider-Man brand new day is only pacing 100 million ahead of the Force Awakens. Spider-Man brand new day's second weekend was not as big as the Force Awakens second weekend. So it's still pacing ahead of the Force weekend, but its momentum is slower now at this point than the Force Awakens was at its that point in time. So I'm not even 100% sure that it's going to catch the Force Awakens. Let's get to a billion dollars. But the problem is it's difficult to say that it's more likely that Doomsday gets $3 billion because we don't know if Doomsday is good. I mean, it's going to have a monster opening and it's going to make huge money, no doubt, huge success. But it's really hard to say that it's going to because everything would have to go right for Doomsday to make $3 billion. No film is ever in history made $3 billion. So based on all that, even though Rob, I think neither are likely. I don't think either of these scenarios are likely. I'm going to write now because we haven't seen Doomsday. I'm going to say it's more likely as unlikely as it is that Spider-Man will get to a billion at the domestic. What do you think? You know, we've often talked how nothing would ever touch Force Awakens in terms of. It's a record I never thought could be beat. And now it can't. $900 million. Yeah. And it's just, you know, I look at the date like yesterday. I know it was a Sunday, but we're still in the middle of summer. You know, people are still, they're not getting ready to pack up to go to college just yet. And some elementary schools and junior highs and high schools start in August. But there's at least another probably week. You're looking at $45 million days even during the week. And we're only $300 million away from a billion. So I'm going with you. I don't necessarily think it's going to happen. But if there's a movie that can dethrone Force Awakens and get to a billion, right now it's Spider-Man brand new. Yeah. I like the way you put that. I think if any film ever had a shot of doing it, this is the one. This is the one that has the shot of doing it. And again, I don't think either is likely. But if anyone's going to do it, it might be this one thing. I have to say too that the one thing about Doomsday, and look, I think you and I are both really excited to see Doomsday. Yeah. But Doomsday is a monumental bummer. I mean, it doesn't, don't, don't, don't, don't give anything away to the audience who doesn't know. I'm not, I'm not, but it's called Doomsday. And Spider-Man brand new day is a happy in a way. It's a buoyant smile on your face. When we get emotional, it's got an amazing scene. It's a brand new day. It's a new day. It's a new dawn. But I mean, you know, anyway, all right. Jonathan, what do we got up next? All right. Rob, this is going to go to you first. It's from JTT. What's more likely? Christopher Nolan willing winning best director again, or Denny Villanue winning for the first time. God, that's a tough one, dude. You know, I'm going to bet on Denny because the vote is not going to be just for Doomsday. It's going to be for all three of these movies. And I think if nothing else, it's his vision. First of all, I think I think Doomsday is going to be the best of the three films. I agree. I really do. And I think that his accomplishment in terms of verisimilitude, in terms of telling this story, in terms of the imagery, the man deserves it. If anyone deserves a best director award, not since Peter Jackson's three Lord of the Rings films, Denny Villanue deserves special recognition for these Doom movies, because we have never seen anything like them. And I think it's going to be Denny. And that's not to take away from, it's not going to take away from Christopher Nolan and the Odyssey, but I think it's den easier. Yeah, I also think it's going to be Denny Villanue because like I just think number one, he's done such a masterful job with Dooms so far. Like I never, I never thought before they came around and we're going to make the first one here. I never thought you could make Dooms into a commercially viable and box office successful franchise. That would be as big as it has become. And then we heard Denny Villanue was going to do it. Oh, maybe it can. And it's just been, especially when you look at the growth from the first film to the second film, it's astronomical. It's incredible. But having seen the first eight minutes of the film, by the way, for those of you who saw like that little opening of Dune in front of the Odyssey, that was only half of what they showed us at CinemaCon. It was like literally just half of it because Anna and I are sitting in and getting ready to watch the Odyssey and they played that little note from Denny Villanue comes out. Special thank you to my good friend Christopher Nolan for allowing us to preview Dune 3 here for you. And so they show it and like Anna and I are watching us. Yeah, we love this so good. And then it ends. And like Anna and I look at she was like, that was only half of it. Like it. Oh my god. I listen, I really do think it's so hard to say because we haven't seen Dune 3 yet. For all we know, the first half hour is going to be great in the rest of its sucks for all we know who knows, but it does feel like it's going to be this is magic and Larry, dude. This, this is Peyton and Brady. It feels like this is not going to be the first, this is not going to be the last time I mean that we're going to get into a best director race. And it's going to be Nolan and Villanue at the front of the pack. It's going to be no longer than Louvre and everybody else. And it's going to be between the two of them. And I feel like this could be the next magic bird thing where it's going to we're going to get like three or four or five of these over the next 12 years. And I'm here for it. But yeah, I think my guess right now, having Nazi do my guess is going to be Denny. I think it's going to be Denny this year. But who knows? Hey, listen, it could be somebody else. It could be a third or fourth person coming out of the order to do it. So we'll see. All right, John, it's a theatrical winning time is what you're saying. Harry Potter and the Curse Child or Harry Potter, the middle years films? You know, my first experience with Harry Potter and the Curse Child, which I never read. But my first experience with it was my wife who was a major Potterhead reading it and really not liking it. On that basis, and that basis alone. If they ever did another Harry Potter movie about Harry the latter years, I'm not talking like 30 years later. I'm talking like 10 years later, whatever. If they ever, we're gonna do another Harry Potter movie. And it was between something like Harry Potter 10 years later or Harry Potter in the Chris Child. Only because of my experience with my wife hating it, I'm gonna say something other than Harry Potter and the Chris Child. Rob, what about you? I'm gonna have to go with you. I mean, you know, to be honest, I've never seen Harry Potter in the Chris Child. I've never read it. I know what it's about. And I just read that Draco Malfoy is still onstage. He tossed his role. Yeah, Tom Keltin is onstage with rising his role in Draco. Yeah, I just read that and he's like extended his role or something. And- - Good for him. I know that's what I was like, okay. So I think I'm gonna go with you on this one. But, you know, I am to be honest. I'm at something to you right now. - What's that? - I do not know much about the Harry Potter franchise. I mean, I think there's a lot of guys who don't. - I've seen the movies, but I was too old to be, and I read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone when it was new. But, I keep looking at these box sets, these 4K box sets of the Harry Potter movies on disc, and I never, I feel a need not for speed, but to really delve into the franchise in before the new series comes down. - So I'll be able to compare and contrast and really understand because, you know, I watched them, but it just wasn't my ballet, Bailey Wick. - I mean, you could just watch it on HBO Max, but no, I feel I need to commit and buy. - I'm also not a Potter head by any stretch, but I really appreciate the movies. I do quite enjoy them. I like them a lot. - Yeah, I mean, I like the Prisoner of Azkaban quite a bit. - You know, it's funny. Most people I know say Prisoner of Azkaban is their favorite. Lanterns or Vision Quest? - That's a, that's a little question. - It's got it tough. - You know, we got Lanterns, guys, we got Lanterns coming out this week. - This week. - I think it's Sunday, right? Doesn't it come out on Sunday? I'm so excited for it. - I'll tell you what I am gonna go with. I am gonna go with Vision Quest. And the reason I'm gonna go with Vision Quest is because you have a secret weapon in James Spader. And that James Spader is not just the voice of Ultron. He's the big, bushy human. He plays Ultron as in human form as James Spader. And there's a father-son relationship between Ultron and Paul Bettany's vision that is a delight to watch. And from a critic, not that I would know. But there's a critical, I think that acting, when it comes to acting, that relationship is going to be something that really TV critics and professional critics are gonna be taken with. Now I don't know, maybe that's the same thing as true, but it seems to me that Lanterns is gonna be more super heroic, whereas Vision Quest is more unique. So I'm going with Vision Quest. - I've gotta go with Lanterns. And the reason I'm gonna go with Lanterns is admittedly for one reason and one reason only. Like I think Vision Quest is gonna be great. I think Vision Quest is gonna be great. - It is. - But to me, it's three letters, HBO. There's not, you could throw 100 scenarios. - I can't argue with that. - Yeah, you could throw 100 scenarios at me. And if the letters HBO are in the scenario somewhere, I'm nine times, well, eight times out of 10, I'll probably lean towards whatever the HBO show is probably gonna be the most critically raved about. It's just what they do, HBO just does excellence. That's it, that's what they're business. And Lake Wolverine, they're the best at what they do. They are the gold standard of creating, and they have been for decades now, of the highest quality stuff. Does that mean Vision Quest does not have a chance at being the more highly critically rated thing? Of course it does, right? It's, who's the showrunner? What's the showrunner's name man? - Terry Mattalis. - Terry Mattalis is doing it. Look at the job he did with Picard season three. He took a show that was struggling with the fans, and then brought out a season three of a, he came in, took over for season three, and turned a show that was really struggling with fans into a show that the fans loved, boom, overnight. Of course, it's got a shot at doing it, 100%. But as long as the letters HBO are above the lanterns title, I have to guess that it's gonna be the lanterns one that carries it. That's, again, might be wrong, might be wrong, but we'll see, we'll see it all goes. Anyway, and that will do it guys. For today's little session of what's more likely. Certainly one of, a top two or three all-time favorite sitcoms, but legitimately one of my all-time favorite shows as well, called Parks and Recreation. How many of you guys have seen it? And for those of you who did, you'll remember this, and for those of you who didn't, let me set the stage. There was one big story arc in Parks and Rec, where Paul Rudd played a character named Bobby Newport, and Bobby Newport was running for city council against the show's main character, Leslie Noep. And Bobby was a bit of a lovable imbecile, but during the debate, during the big public debate, the final debate before the election, Bobby Newport, who was a part of the family that owned the biggest industry in the city called Sweetems Candies. And Bobby Newport dropped this during the debate. He said, you know, my dad says that if I don't win the election, he might have to move Sweetems out of Pawnee. Pawnee is the name of the town that the Parks and Rec is suited in. They're gonna, he's gonna have to move us out of Pawnee to which outraged everybody when that happened. Well, I'm guessing David Ellison watched Parks and Rec, except he thought Paul Rudd was the hero, because David Ellison has literally just done the exact same thing that Bobby Newport did in Parks and Rec as he has now dropped this one, saying, I'm gonna pull Paramount out of California, starting in October. If the states refuse to negotiate settlement in antitrust shoot, it should be pointed out that the states have said many times they're willing to negotiate a settlement, but you're gonna have to bring something real to the table. So he's really going for the breaking bad thing here. Yeah. So Bobby Newport, I mean, David Ellison, as basically said, my daddy says we can move Paramount out of California unless you give me what I want. You know, for all of this, drama that's been going on with the Paramount attempted takeover of Warner Bros. I have tried. You guys have often mocked me for how much I have tried to look on the bright side. I how often if I send the show guys, you know, guys, look, give them his do. David Ellison legit movie fan loves movies. I think he really wants to make movies. I think he really wants to make great movies. I've tried to be positive even just on yesterday. Show's talking about how you know what? I still think there's a there's a path here where they that both sides can reach a settlement and this deal can get done. Not saying that I hoped a deal would get done, but but saying, you know, I still think there's a way here this can get done. And I keep on trying to give this doofus sack a shit. The benefit of the doubt. But he just keeps proving he's a doofus sack a shit. Because he's been strutting around town going, we're going to win this lawsuit. We're going to win this lawsuit. You know what people who think they're going to win don't do? They don't then try to blackmail a victory out of it. If you really think you're going to win and you really think the law is on your side and you really think that the facts are on your side and you really believe in me. believe that, yeah, I can't wait till we get to trial because we're going to win. If you really felt that way, you know what you wouldn't do? You wouldn't try to blackmail people. You know who you would be? You would be governor fucking Tarcan. And when your little mystery comes up to you and says, so we've analyzed their attack and there is a danger. You know what Tarcan says? When he's confident, he says evacuate in a moment of triumph. You overestimate the chances. But no, that's not what David Ellison's done. Now granted, Tarcan ended up getting blown up, but take whatever lesson out of that that you want. But that's not what David Ellison does. David Ellison's strutting around. I think we're going to win. Meanwhile, oh hey, we're going to pull out of California. Unless you just give us what we want. Sure. That's what he does because he's a little bitch. And you know, I want everyone, the five to 8,000 employees of Paramount in Los Angeles, the five to 8,000 employees of Los Angeles. I want you to list it because I've got friends at Paramount. Actually, I have some really cool people and people at Paramount, friends of mine at Paramount. And I want you all to hear this very, very clearly. By pulling this black male move and saying, do what we want, or we're going to pull out of town, David Ellison just told you the five to 8,000 of you who work for Paramount in Los Angeles. David Ellison just told you you mean nothing to him. He just told you you are an afterthought to him. He does not care about you. And you know guys, I just watched the other night, the season finale of House of the Dragon. And there was a moment in House of the Dragon that made us all go, oh, we don't like Orman Hightower, but then he does something in the show where we're like, Orman Hightower's got to die. You remember the scene? He marched, Orman Hightower, not willing to fight his own battle and seeing the writing on the wall, Orman Hightower, for those of you who didn't watch the show, he puts children, he brings all the town's children and puts them on the wall and puts the children in front of the gate. My five to 8,000 friends who work in Paramount in Los Angeles, that is what, you know, frickin David Hightower just did to you essentially. That is what Ormond Ellison has just done to you. We won't talk about what Stark did to Hightower though. Yeah. No, we won't talk about that. But he has just taken you and used you as bargaining chips, not just bargaining chips, hostage bargaining chips and he's put you in front of a dragon and whichever way this goes, however this works itself out, I need all five to 8,000 of you to remember this moment. And David Ellison rolled up the sleeves and showed the big yellow stripe tattoo that he has that starts in his arm and goes all the way down his little, little pussy ass. That's, that's, I want you and I need you to remember this moment of what he thinks of you. Now, here's the thing. I do not fault anybody anywhere. If you think there is something that is a good move for the long term health of your business, to then make steps to do the things that are good for your business, but here's the thing. If David Ellison, and let's be honest about who's really in control here, it's his daddy. But David and Larry Ellison, if they thought for one minute, then moving paramount to, I don't know Ohio, Texas, somewhere else, if they thought for one moment that doing that was what was best for paramount, they would have done it a year ago. They would have done it a year ago. If they thought, you know, it's really best and healthiest for our business and what's best for the long term financial strength of our business is if we take our central offices and move them to a different location, which is fair, totally fair, totally fair. But if that's what they thought, it would have been done already. They wouldn't sit around wasting money for a year, it would have been done. But they haven't done that. If David Ellison actually thought they were going to win this case, he wouldn't resort to blackmail. If they actually thought the law was on their sides and the facts lined up with their narrative, they wouldn't walk children out onto the wall. But that's what David Ellison has just done. He is resorted to blackmail because he's desperate, he's scared, and he doesn't see a light at the end of the tunnel. And this move is the act of a coward. It's the act of a coward. To come out and say, look, okay, on one hand, on day one, I'm saying, oh, we're going to win. The facts are on side. We're going to win. And the next one is, you know, give us what we want or we're going to pull out and leave town. It tells you everything. David Ellison is Ormond Hightower and he is Paul Rudd. I should say Bobby Newport. Paul Rudd's character. He is Bobby Newport and he is Ormond Hightower all wrapped into one pathetic weakling little character. And it's, it's just depressing. And what's really depressing is because for, I feel like it feels like a year, I keep on trying to pull some kind of bright side out of this. Dude loves movies. I think he really does want to make Paramount great. I think there's a chance there that could work this out. I mean, I don't like that he did this and he just keeps doing these things. But this one, guys, this is a new low. This is a new low, even for this dick. And again, the way he's just dangled five to 8,000 people like that is, it's just in again, if this was, take the deal out of it. If this was in a vacuum, forget about the merger, forget about the deal. If David Ellison just came out one day and said, listen, guys, we've been doing the numbers. We've been running the sheets and it really does look like we will be in a stronger place if we move our operations from one place to another. It's not about black. It's just, just, just in general, that's, I would be sad about it, but I would understand, but this is just bullshit. Anyway, I've ranted on about this long enough. Rob, you saw this, the headline here about him basically saying they're going to up and move unless the, the, the, he gets what he wants out of this trial. I know. What's your takeaway from it? Well, I mean, this whole trial is about whether or not this merger is going to be good or bad for the industry, for business, for workers, and with him making these kinds of demands, it seems to fulfill everybody's worst fears. It's not something that engenders the kind of trust and business that we want to be doing. The whole reason that we have these guardrails in this country is so these things don't happen. And what we want done is we want a healthy, vibrant, I mean, rightly or wrongly, production is fled. The state where production originated, I mean, you could say yes, there's production in New York, there was production in Chicago, but Hollywood is California. And the industry is ailing and do we want this to turn into the Detroit of the motion picture business? I don't think that we do. And so what we want to see is we want to see California's economy healthy and vibrant. And I think what is happening here is, look, I'm not a fan of these kinds of big mergers. I think it's going to be ultimately bad for the business. It's kind of consolidation, it's already consolidated enough. I don't think that Disney's acquisition of 20th century studios has really borne any kind of great fruit that has diversified the industry. Even though I would say that 20th century studios, presidents, Steve Asbel's doing a heck of a job. But I'd like to see more. And I think that's the fear here is that this merger is more about the consolidation validation of the power of the Ellison family that it is about the vibrancy of the motion picture industry and This kind of behavior does not do anything to engender trust I think with the workforce or the state or the the the industry itself So I think it's There's better ways to go about doing this, but I understand because they're gonna drastic measures I wouldn't want to lose billions of dollars to break up for either It's gonna be the biggest break up fee ever in the history of the United States $7 billion dollars. I mean that is huge money Yeah, but Who does he have to blame for that? himself He put himself in the situation. He puts it tired Yeah, the entire endeavor from the beginning was destructive and and fruitless it has cost billions of dollars added debt Logistic, this is an emotional reaction for something in a moment that needs logic There's no possible way to move paramount at this point with the debt they have with what they're trying to undertake with taking over Para Warner Brothers It is illogical It will not happen not right now and not in enough time before Zazlab has the ability to say Oh, here's my axe and I'll take $7 billion dollars, please. So It's it's ridiculous. It's a ridiculous threat. So here's what it comes down to all right The real underlying basis of this whole thing is Chapter seven of the Clayton act. It's the law Within that law there are certain thresholds stated that if such and such happens and it crosses these thresholds It is by the legal definition of the act a monopoly or threatens monopoly It's the law. It's it's there. It's in the statute The only question is Does the paramounts proposed merger with Warner Brothers cross those Defined thresholds within the statute and if it does Well, then it's breaking the law and if it's not then it's not breaking the law When the states brought their motion for temporary restraining order the judge looked at it and in their ruling wrote in their opinion It looks like there is a likelihood That the states are going to prove that this does exceed those thresholds It's not about they're out to get me. It's not about there being me to me It's about does this proposal does this proposed merger Vibe break the thresholds to make it a violation of the law and That's it So what I would suggest To David To high tower is this kind of looks like him too. He does look like a whiny little high tower Probably sniffing little stuff up his nose too being facetious, but if my advice To this little worm would be Go back to the states with a proposal That comfortably Takes you under the thresholds of violating the Clayton Act and say Listen, we will divest ourselves of These six things that we were getting in the Warner Brothers and some of it might hurt some of it might hurt But if you don't write op-ed pieces about why I think this is about CNN. It's clearly not about CNN Well, don't you know that Adam Aaron is on our side? Nobody gives a fuck that at the law doesn't care that Adam Aaron of AMC is on your side Instead of doing that why don't you become a grown-up act like a serious person Get together in your war room and figure out what can we survive by cutting out of this deal That we'll satisfy the Clayton Act and that the state's attorney's attorney's general will be okay with Why don't you get serious and do that instead of pending little op-ed pieces like a little bitch and Actually do the work of an executive and come up with something that will keep you on the right side of the law because as long As this proposed deal is going to exceed the thresholds in the law Then they're not going to back down and they shouldn't back down So maybe do that instead of marching people and marching kids onto a wall Maybe doing that instead of holding the jobs of five to eight thousand people as hostage maybe do that Instead of acting like a dick Anyway guys question is for you What do you think about this snuggling little worm and this little attempt at blackmail? Thank you Mike appreciate that man and Mike writes If the paramount Warner brother merger goes ahead and they later default on the debt Could that debt be so large that no other company is prepared to take it on causing the collapse of both studios and what would be the consequences well, okay, this is getting into a lot of um ifs and theoreticals But okay, let's let's play it out for a second If the deal gets done either by way of court order or by way of uh compromise and settlement or whatever Even in paramount's best case scenario they will then be a company with from the last numbers that I read 111 billion dollars in debt That will occur over five billion dollars of additional debt every year in interest um and and just for Shits and giggles Let me do a little bit of math here So five billion That's five million Five billion divided by uh 365 so at that number um If everything goes through paramount we'll be paying 13 million six hundred and ninety eight thousand dollars a day In interest 13 million third a little over 13 and a half million dollars in in uh interest a day. Okay So let's say everything goes Well, they reach a settlement they win in court whatever and the deal goes through And now they have their company and 111 billion dollars in debt what happens If they continue to fall just deeper and deeper into debt and at some point get called on their debts Let's say one of the middle eastern funds says hey, we want our money back now and they default on the debts well Let's let's put it this way even if they don't default on the debt. Let's just say there is no way they're going to make enough revenue to make up for that $5 billion in debt they're going to incur every year. So let's just say they continue to fall deeper and deeper and deeper into debt. Let's say the 111 billion in debt turns into 126 billion in debt over the next three years. I'm just theoretical, totally theoretical. Well, what happens then is they may be forced to sell off their assets. But if they tried to sell at that point, the problem becomes the debt comes along with you. So if Paramount Warner Brothers, let's for argument's sake say it is 120 billion dollars in debt. And then let's say for argument's sake, I don't know what's a huge company. Let's say an anthropic for whatever reason. Anthropic decides they want to get into the entertainment business. And they want to buy Paramount Warner Brothers. The problem is they will inherit that 120 billion dollars in debt as well. So who's going to then anthropics going to go well, then we don't want it. We're not going to pay you, you know, 68 billion dollars for the company and on top of that inherit 120 billion dollars in debt. So it's going to become very, very difficult, not impossible, not impossible. We've seen examples of it. But you'd also be facetious if you didn't acknowledge that it would make it significantly more difficult to sell that company with the debt that comes along with it. It's kind of like having a big NBA player on your team that is only playing so so and you want to trade them. Well, great. There might be a lot of teams interested in getting your so so player. But the problem is your so so player is making 50 million dollars a year and they don't want that contract, right? That would kind of be the that would kind of be the scenario there if that played out that way. But again, that's not a definite. That's not necessarily the way it's going to play out. But in your theoretical situation, that's what could happen. All right. Let's see, Liam. Next up, Nicholas Cage film, "Fortitude" was stolen from yeah, I heard about this was this is a few weeks ago was stolen from Netflix's offices. You heard anything about this. So for those you didn't hear this is actually kind of fun. I'm not going to spend much time on it here. But in pitching their movie to Netflix, these producers sent on this big secured hard disk. So these producers of this Nicholas Cage film sent over this secured disk to Netflix that they are supposed to then be able to securely view decide if they want to buy the film and then return the secured disk because that's their movie on there, right? Whoopsie. Netflix lost it. They lost the movie. Somebody walked out of there with that movie. And now those producers are threatening to sue Netflix unless they find it. Yes, we did establish that on yesterday show like we brought up the question because there have been examples where stuff like that did count. And there have been examples when it didn't count. But Jonathan looked it up during the show. And so, ah, yes, it will be directly added. So whatever money Avengers Endgame on core makes will be added to the overall worldwide box office totals of Avengers Endgame. And we may be seeing Avengers Endgame. It's it's going to make a lot for a re-release. But it is possible that Avengers Endgame could leapfrog over avatar to become the highest grossing film of all time depending on how many people go out to see the encore re-release. All right. Next up. Go Paula writes. Do you think Tom Holland is the lead in secret wars? No, no, I do not. Do I think he'll be there and be definitely have a material role in it? Yes. Do I think he's the lead in secret wars? No, I do not. I mean, here's the funny thing about Spider-Man. Spider-Man. And I like I just wanted to go see the new Spider-Man for the third time last night. I love that movie. I love brand new day. I love this movie. I think I like it more every time I watch it. Anyway, Spider-Man is amazing in his own films. And he's amazing as a part of an ensemble. But I don't know that Spider-Man works as the lead of a big ensemble film. And that's not a drag on the character of Spider-Man. I think every character works in an interesting way that way. But yeah, I don't I don't see they're not going to make Spider-Man made a lot of money. I don't think they make Spider-Man the main character of secret wars. So no. But I mean, if you know the comic book version, the comics of Spider-Man or of secret wars, you know the Spider-Man has an important role to play in it, right? He's got a material role, but no, I don't believe they're going to make him the main character of secret wars. And they shouldn't. They really shouldn't. All right. Next up. Oh, sorry, next up is Richard Lai who writes, "Hey, John, I dislike social media amplifying fandoms going at each other. The way they pit brand new day and Superman 2025 is toxic news flash. You can like both. I haven't seen any of that. I haven't seen. I don't know what would be the logic of put anyway. Those are two different franchises with two very different histories and into totally different contexts and set of circumstances right now. It's pretty ridiculous. The reality is both films did really well for what they are. You know, Spider-Man is coming off a string of huge successful Spider-Man movies with homecoming far from home and no way home. Like those were three massive, huge, successful films and Spider-Man came out on the heels of that. Superman came out of the rubble that was the absolutely gutted and burned to the ground and run into the ground DCEU failure. You can't compare them. It was two totally different sets of circumstances. Anyway. Next up. Jeff writes, "Do you have any movies you watch every year? Several. For me, it's Halloween, Goodwill Hunting. That's a good one. Dead Poets Society and it's a wonderful life." Yeah, I definitely watch the Lord of the Rings every year. I don't have like, "Oh, it's September. But I definitely watch that about once a year. I definitely watch Shawshank Redemption every year. Those are a couple of them that come to mind. But for those of you who do, you understand the analogy here. He's definitely not acting like a guy who's confident they're going to win their court case. He's definitely not acting like that because if you are, you just sit down, keep your mouth shut and just count down the days until you can get to the trial and prove your case. If you're so confident, but he's clearly not. And I think he feels the walls closing in. Again, God, I hate saying this. I hate saying this, but it is true. I still think there is an avenue out. I still think there is a way for David Ellison to navigate this thing to the point where they end up getting Warner Bros. They're going to have to cuddle out. They're going to have to make sacrifices and they're going to have to walk away with something that they're not isn't going to totally live up to what it was they wanted. But that's the nature of the beast because apparently they are on the wrong side of the law here. They are on the wrong side of the Clayton act. If you're playing poker and a lot of it's not a tournament, they have something called a bad beat jackpot. Now, even if you're not a poker player, you might appreciate this. And the way a bad beat jackpot works is it basically says if you lose with an insanely strong hand, you win a jackpot. So in a, in a, and one of the casinos I play in regularly, they have a jackpot where it's like, if you have aces full of jacks, like a full house, aces full of jacks, that is an, for those of you don't know poker, that's an insanely strong hand. It's insanely strong. Like you, it 10 times out of 10, you believe you're winning the hand if you have aces full of jacks. But at this particular casino, if you have aces full of jacks, and somebody else beats you with quads or a straight flush, you lose the hand, but you win like a $10,000 jackpot. For losing, it's called the bad beat jackpot. A lot of casinos have a bad beat jackpot. If you're playing, it doesn't happen often. But if you do, you win this jackpot. So it's just too bad that that happened online, and not in a regular poker game. Anyway, all right. Like I'm not, I'm not sure I'm following. Was he, in X-Men, was he the voice in X-Men 97? Or are you asking me theoretically? Yeah, it's not. So I'm guessing you're asking me theoretically, what I would think of Lee Pace's Magneto. Well we talked about, I think Lee Pace, look, I think Lee Pace is a magnificent actor. I think he's a magnificent actor. And I think he's got a wicked voice. Like when you watch, oh, damn it, what's the name of that sci-fi show in Apple? Were he plays Empire? Why am I freezing? I love the show and I'm freezing on the name of you guys know the show I'm talking about. Anyway, he brings such a presence and has such a voice foundation. Thank you. Now, some might say, but you can't have him's magneto because he was already in the MCU, but he was totally covered in makeup in the MCU. You could totally do it. Just like a Gemma Chan was already in Captain Marvel before she was in a turn, but in Captain Marvel, she was totally covered in makeup and totally in a different costume. So it was perfectly fine. She was in Captain Marvel's one character and then she was in a turnels as another one. I think it would be perfect fine, perfectly fine. I don't think it's going to be him, but if they did ever cast him as magneto, I'd be totally good with it. Totally good with it. All right. Steven writes, Hey, John, why is your, why is magneto your favorite combo character? Well, I won't sit here and bore you for the next 30 minutes with it, but I think there's a couple of different reasons for it. One, I'd say the main one is, is again, not that I agree with magneto, but I find him, he's my favorite character because I just find the most fascinating. At the heart of his true motivation, he just truly wants what's best for mutants as a character who at a young age witness horrors of just how low humanity can be, at just how vile humanity can be, to lose all faith in humanity. And not have it just turn him evil for the sake of being evil, but rather what they did and creating Charles and magneto was, I mean, you've heard it said before, but it really was the comparison of Malcolm X to Martin Luther King. Magneto just wanted what he wanted to protect mutants. He wanted what was best for mutants, but he legitimately and honestly felt that the only way to do that is with the dominance of mutants. That's just the only way to do it. Whereas he and Charles want the same thing. They want the best for mutants, but Charles believes that the path to that is by coexisting with humanity. Eric was just, I, that's not possible, Charles. You can't, that's a beautiful thought. You're adorable, but that's just not possible. And when you embrace that, it can lead you down to some very dark actions that are the direct expression of that philosophy. And that whole thing about him and then they just get him in some amazing stories, particularly when you get into the age of apocalypse storyline, where what happens in those early debating days between Charles and Eric, if this powerful mutant shows up, in this case, it was Legion and tries to kill Magneto and Charles throws himself in front of Magneto and sacrifices himself to save Eric. And now Eric decides to pay this debt, I am going to bring Charles's dream to life and see how would a guy who believes, doesn't believe in the, the, the redemptive nature for humanity, but now is committed to living out Charles Xavier's dream. How would that play out? And, and I just, it took my love of the character of the age of apocalypse storyline, took my love of the character just up 20 notches at that point. Anyway, anyway, I've already rambled on, I could see her and talk all day about Magneto. I could talk all day about him, but I will leave it at that. All right. Next up, uh, Vin Frost writes, Hey, John, are you surprised to see the end of Oak Street getting positive reviews so far? I felt like WB didn't have much faith in it. It definitely feels like a smaller film. And listen, I like the trailers, and I, I like the presentation they gave it. Sin McCon. And I was expecting it to be a decent little film that came and gone with, came and went without much fanfare to see the rave reaction. Some critics are giving it is surprising to me. It is. And I'm, I'm looking forward to, I've got my tickets for Thursday night. I'm looking forward to going and checking it out, but I, I gotta admit, Vin Frost, yeah, I'm, I'm feeling kind of surprised by it. I absolutely do not. This is a movie in a TV show, uh, show, not a video game show. So I'd be lying if I said I had any interest in it. I, I really don't. Unfortunately. All right. What percentage chance do you give Sony allowing Marvel to do a Spider-Man Venom movie and Venom from Secret Wars? Oh, with Sony pausing their villains. Um, it all depends if Sony has, remember, Sony is partners with Marvel. It's not like Sony are just lending characters to Marvel. Sony are the distributors of the Spider-Man films. It's their movies. Like I know it feels weird to say because it's in the MCU. But Spider-Man brand new day, it's a Sony movie. It is, but it is literally a Sony movie. So it depends on if they have a movie and an idea and a script idea that Marvel is pitching or whatever that and Sony thinks, yeah, our villain would go well in that movie and they'll do what's right for them. And by the way, I don't think this pausing is going to last terribly long. I don't think it's going to last terribly long. I think I think we are going to see more, I think we're going to see Sony do more of these movies. I do. Hopefully after taking a breath, realizing the direction they were going in was pointless, you can make great standalone movies out of spider-verse characters without Spider-Man. The first Venom movie proved that. It's been proven. It's proved. It's got a case study for it. But then you can't just go on and make crap like Morbius and Craven and Madame Webb and all that garbage. So I do think they'll do more of it. I think they will do more eventually. But no, I don't think we'll see. They've done enough Venom. I don't think we're going to see Venom in the MCU. I don't think so. Could be wrong. Could totally be wrong. I think the world of Dan, I have so much respect for him as an analyst. No, obviously, I have some different opinions than he does, right? That's okay. Dan's allowed to be wrong sometimes. It's totally okay for Dan to be wrong sometimes. But I mean, I just have a world of respect for Dan and I am absolutely one way or the other. It's really good, very informative. And you should go check it out. All right. Next up, then Kat writes, money ball is such a great movie. I watch it every year. You know what? I don't watch money ball every year. But every couple of months, I go down a rabbit hole of watching clips of it on YouTube. Like every few months, for whatever reason, my YouTube algorithm will pop up a money ball clip in my feed and I'll click it almost every time. And then I'll watch a couple of them. Money balls are really good movie. And I don't know if I have it here. Let me just do a quick search. Again, I'm not sure that I do. And I'm not, even if I do, I'm not 100% sure I'm going to be able to find it. But I actually, when money ball was coming out, I was at AMC at the time and they invited me to fly out to Oakland. Like we actually went to Oakland where the, and we went to the baseball, they had this press day for money ball in the actual Oakland A's baseball stadium. And we went there and I'm trying to, right now I'm just going through my album here. I'm not sure I've got the picture of it in here. But this is the first time I met Brad Pitt. It was the first time I ever had a chance to meet pit. And he was great. He was, he was absolutely great. And that movie was so much better than it had any business being. I mean, when, when you really think about it, what's money pit? It's a movie about this guy who figured out a create a new way of figuring out payroll and baseball. I mean, ultimately, that's an oversimplification. But ultimately when you break it down, that's what money pit, that's what the money, I keep saying money pit, money ball, I keep saying money pit, that's what money ball at the end of the day is. It's a movie about a guy who comes up with a new creative and productive way to do, to do payroll. This, now, you know what, it's, I'm out of the, I'm out of the frame here. But this is me and Brad Pitt with Brad Pitt at the Oakland a baseball stadium. This is obviously a bunch of years ago. This is the year that money ball came out. And this was my first opportunity to meet Brad. And again, he was wonderful. I've had a couple of opportunities to speak to him since. But he was absolutely wonderful. And I, I'm with you man. Money ball is a great movie. You know, I'm not a huge baseball fan. So you don't even have to be a baseball fan. If you've never seen money ball and you've kind of avoided it because you're not really a baseball guy, that's totally fine. Trust me. It's a really good movie. You should check it out. Chris Pratt is in there too, as a matter of fact. Anyway, next up, Seth Castro writes, Hey, John wrote a little bit ago about Sadie Sink's role as Jean Grey side note. I actually said she's a favorite actress of mine already. I meant she's been a favorite actress of mine for a while. Main question is she said in an interview, X-Men films in 2027. And she has another project to do. If she isn't a secret, if she is in secret wars, which I think was confirmed, do they film her secret wars scenes during X-Men shoot? Here's the thing. It's actually not that uncommon these days for actors to be shooting multiple things at the same time. It's just a matter of working out scheduling. Like, where it is actually really quite normal is people who are shooting TV shows also shooting movies at the same time. They just have to work out the schedule. It's like, okay, I'm not on these three days of shooting on the show, so I can fly out to Atlanta and shoot three days there. But then I got to be back here for a week. Now, it's tough if they're the lead in that movie and the lead in this TV show. That's a little bit different. But it's actually not that uncommon that they can shoot two different things at once, especially, especially if the movies are shooting relatively close to each other, right? So if they're shooting secret wars while they're shooting X-Men, she can literally just go back and forth between sound stages. It's really not going to be that big of a deal. So they could figure out a way to do that. All right. Texas Lionheart writes, "John, what actor would be your pick for Magneto for the X-Men reboot?" X actor and X role man, X actor and X role. Don't care. Like you, he's one of my favorite characters. Love your show. Thanks and keep it up. Yeah, I really don't care. The reason I don't care is because I don't know what they're going for with their Magneto. And at the end of the day, that's all that matters. Here's the example I always give. Think of Joker. Joaquin Phoenix was perfect for the Joker they did in Joker. But he wouldn't have been perfect playing Caesar Romero's Joker. He would have been totally the wrong casting for that. Right? Jack was perfect for playing Joker in Tim Burton's Batman. Perfect. But he wouldn't have been the perfect casting for Heath Ledger's Joker in the Dark Knight. That wouldn't have worked. That wouldn't have been the right casting for that version of Joker. So the point is here since I don't know exactly what they're going for with how they're going to manifest this Magneto, I can't say who I think a great Magneto would be. I mean, I can say, you know, 15 of these 15 great actors would all make a great Magneto. Sure. But that's where I'm at. I'm at as long as you guys pick a tremendous actor. Then I will trust the casting people that they're getting the person who's going to be the best fit. As long as the person you're getting is tremendous actor. I don't want to see all do respect to John Cena, for you guys know I like very much particularly in comedic roles. I'm a fan of John Cena, but I don't want to see John Cena cast as Magneto. I don't think he's got the chops yet to do a Magneto. So as long as you go out and get a great actor to play the role, then I'm okay. Then I'm totally okay. Anyway, all right. Again, I think there's 50 different actors who could do great in the role. It's just a matter of I can't pick one when I don't know what this version of Magneto is going to look like. Because we've had many great jokers, but all of those jokers were totally different from each other. Yet they were all definitively joker and they were all really great, at least most of them, but you know, you got to find the actor who's then the right fit for that particular version of the character. And since I don't know what that is, I can't really just pick one actor, but I think there's a lot of great actors who do great in the role. Tom Hiddleston covers all media this year at the night manager, season two, Pompey, Broadway and two movies. Given those pretty painful rumors about Loki's role in Doomsday, do you think he will stay in the MCU after secret wars? MCU seems to be slowing him down for now. Oh no, the MCU's not slowing him down. The MCU doing MCU stuff takes 5% of his time. Literally 5% of his time. And obviously you just made the point that it is not slowing him down because while he was while he did do Doomsday, he was able to do night manager, Pompey, Broadway and another movie and more. It's clearly not slowing him down at all. Do I think Tom Hiddleston is done in the MCU? I don't. Every time something happens to Loki and we say, Oh, well, now Tom Hiddleston, but nope, he just keeps coming back. So no, I will never answer your question. Jorita, I don't think he's ever done. I don't think he has ever done. I think he will be around and still playing Loki. Even if he's not in the next four or five years, I'll always believe he's going to be back at some point.
