It was. You know I don't think I can even mimic his voice and accent because it is just he's such an evil nasty bastard. Billy what are you saying? I don't think there's a bad role he's been in in any movie he's been in and honestly I think he is a uh he is a former soccer player or footballer and you know you're talking about Vinnie Jones. Yes. I shoot you you go down you die remembering the old Vietnamese guy was trying to shit yeah what great movies I don't know if y'all have ever seen. And he was a he was a thug of a soccer player. Now it means we you know we get uh searches we get uh seen a little better the algorithms a little better but uh it it has made the page take off we're actually moving towards a million finally so we've I think they just wanted us to pay to do it is what it seems like. That is not an expensive either I've looked into it I really like to get it but I can't justify it right now. Well see they never even gave us an opportunity. Is that what you're saying? Oh yeah and you know it's based on the size of your page how much they make you pay for it. Yeah it's no fun. And you know five or six months ago for me when I looked into it it was like six something for me and I wasn't here was that on X or no this is Meta and uh yeah it's an Instagram and Facebook. So you'll pay for an algorithm manipulation I love it. Oh Elon started it that's a place started on Twitter and the others are like oh this is the money we're missing by not doing this another. I mean you can't really blame me. It wasn't bad on Twitter until he jacked up the prices last month and then I cancelled my payment on them. I don't have to pay for two extra people to view my crap. Well and uh well congrats on that I've been noticing you have been kind of growing quite a bit and I see well I see my feet all the time anyway because you're a favorite so uh yeah y'all on fire y'all we're starting to grow quite a bit over there on on Facebook now as well we're inching back up at 150,000. Have we got Instagram access back yet? No not yet I haven't even tried honestly I've just been kind of a breath of fresh air not even have to deal with it. We all kind of we all kind of going a little bit on TikTok over there we're over 3,000 uh I really hate that but you know you got to do what you got to do I need a place to bring our Facebook. He does. Um it's kind of personality's kind of changed too. What Billy? And your glasses. Yeah you all right he needs an introduction. You already speak. You know who it is. Appreciate you coming back up here and being a part of this as always. Yeah fun to get out of the field for a minute been pushing trying to get some hay in while it's dry stop and get up here sit down for a bit simple. How many people you reckon out there are listening to the show while they're bailing and cutting hay the past couple of weeks? Probably a few. How many of them ain't supposed to be doing it but they're still doing it? Probably a few. That's the reason why right there. Number one in the German Baptist community folks. They take that away from us. We just are hitting them in the nights in the almas pretty hard too. I think Amos has got a buddy who's going to try and bring down here at some point in time who's fairly interested. I need to uh you don't don't don't think we're not already there Billy. Yeah well and I think you know we probably need an AM transmitter before we need these cameras personally. You know we need to follow where our followers. Yeah I mean it probably wouldn't be nice to put up a shower somewhere. Oh yeah let it let it ride just put it on repeat. Yeah put the show on repeat. You know every day you have a shuffle of four different shows. Let me just tell you right now. The GB hotline is faster than the internet. I will believe it. I mean something pops off it'll be coast to coast north to south before you could ever find it up well before you would know something like that that was worldly on Facebook. I mean them women they got they write on it. Well since you got they opened the cabinet door and there's a whole list of people that they're going to call and that people's got I mean boom speed dial. Well since you do you do have your ear to the wall so every heart in that community whatever honest the goodness like hell you know well like a lot of people out there know what we're doing with this you know what I mean like because you're on it and yeah of course a lot of them know probably he wants to know if we really are number one is what he's asking. Oh yeah. Yeah. I mean people say he writes his little minus the minus the custom. Well I mean obviously even my mama gets mad at that you don't you don't got to be in church to get mad at the custom but we've got a lot better but they didn't do good at I mean the F count or anymore we used to count how many times Simon dropped an F bottom we finally got away from. I've actually I think well apart from the last show where a few slipped out. One maybe. No I think there were several. It happens. I've actually tried to contain myself for you know the main show and be respectful but when things get easier and every now and again the the filter just kicks into default and the default is actually fairly good. So what were you saying? Nameless or well received obviously you know not nothing bad. Oh no I definitely ain't. Well I'm saying we kind of we kind of shine a light on community. I don't know if whether they like that or not or maybe like being appreciated or you know. Well I mean there's rules and regulations to everything. I mean do you think they're gathering you know once a week and going well this is what Billy and Simon had to say. Oh we're everybody. Well we're definitely talked around the tables. But you know a friend of mine was had raised produce and stuff was like gonna sell some stuff and like somebody basically for him you know started an online presence and I mean that was big ruckus real recent this year but you know because some of the old timers they can't comprehend that. Yeah and my question's always been you accepted a car and a telephone. Now the telephone was granted back in the day for business use only but that business use kind of spread on into the gossiping of mamas when you know. Well like everything does everywhere. So why wouldn't you accept the modern day newspaper. Well they they all get newspapers. Well the internet's the modern day newspaper. Well I mean it's so much rolled into it but there's no way to really take the bad out of good. Yeah because I mean yeah and isn't that true of every progression that they've accepted. About telephone maybe. With the telephone that you know then drop whatever it may be. You're saying there's a slippery slope in here. They're showing upwards. Yes possibly. They've slid down way slower than most. Well sometimes you got a treat grab on to you. But a lot of them definitely do push the edges on what they're supposed to do. I mean it won't be long now if internet goes into effect. There'll be only fans out there in their tractors growing up and down the field showing the cows getting milked and everything like them boys would be making a ton of money. It'll be Amos of the conch. Like the Peterson boys. Yeah absolutely. That's where we should start Amos's channel. Only fans. Only fans. Only fans. You ever heard of that? I mean like the teachers are get fired for having only fans or something like that but no I mean I really couldn't I mean I kind of know what it but not really. There was this original attempt was to be clean. It was. That's right. You'll never be lonely. I mean the county culture. The county culture. I gotta say I know nothing about only fans. No but you've got Schuettburg style. I know nothing about only fans. I really don't. Genuinely I know nothing of what you're talking about. You pay a higher subscription you just get unfiltered Amos. Now basically people would pay to watch you interact with stuff on the farm. Uh oh that doesn't sound very healthy. You gotta reword that man. Oh no I don't. I said that exactly the way I meant to. I'm gonna tell you what. Fifty dollars. Wow. It's a blurry picture we gotta see what it is. Think about the percentage of people that have never ever seen work on a farm. Period. Any of them. Think about how fascinating it must be if they would spend one day just following a farm or whether it was through a cow having a calf or going fieldwork. You think about how fascinating it would be. The number one show in the UK right now is Clarkson's Farm. Clarkson's Farm. And I think that they said that this year they had the most amount of college applications for agriculture. Yeah they've expulsed agricultural participation from the youth. Uh it's brought British farmers to the forefront. They should be. Absolutely. Well exactly but what's happened now is that he really has exploded that market and we just need to find the guy here that would do the same thing. Same across the table from us. That's exactly how it would work. I just like to follow. You know and Clarkson's Farm has done. I think his stand-up though was the fact that he had the massive audience at Top Gear and Grand Tour brought him plus all of his other work on top of it. Well I mean. He's the most impractical man on the planet. But he's also had to fight the local council which have been. Oh that's brutal. I mean so obstructive. I'm just like that's why I left England. Every time Emily's been like oh we should move to the UK. I put on an episode. She's like absolutely not. So you're talking about the UK. Yaw yaw yaw. What about here? Yaw yaw yaw yaw. What about here? Wait a minute I can't do that. Roll right over me. Hold on one second before you jump into that. You know I don't respect to love God. I still got to introduce our guest. Well you heard him speak and obviously you've been a show. Excuse me a fan of the show for quite some time. You recognize that uh that voice. I mean. A good friend Smokey the Appalachian standee is back once again probably seven or eighth time you've been on the show maybe. I don't even remember at this point but I know every time has been better than the last and I hope this isn't the last time that I see this wonderful cabin. Thank you for having me guys. Yeah you are looking back to it. You're probably one of the uh one of our favorite people we've met over the years and got to know kind of doing a song. We've had some really good times uh up here at this cabin doing these shows. You're actually the only person to ever do every show here I think other than one we did at your house. Do you have a man crush on here? Simon was looking at me. It's just because our daughters have the same name man. It's a bond. But uh yeah we've got uh and I'm glad to have you down here again once again. You know you just live over the mountains so it's always a pleasure. Saw you didn't get a chance to make it to uh our event like two or three weekends ago. We had a really really really good time hopefully. I'm kicking myself to that I didn't drive a little bit faster but you know uh coming back from you know visiting family and everything like that. We were just down in Tennessee and spent a lot of money and I had a lot of stuff to do around the house so it was one of those like uh. Going to take care of business. Yeah well it's kind of bittersweet you know you couldn't come in that day which I you know I kind of wanted you to meet a lot of those people you know like we did get to know them and kind of work on this coalition we're trying to build here but and after listening to it though I'm happy that you know all I could have contributed with the little part that I had involved in Hurricane Helene and whatnot. I'm happy that I got to sit there and listen to you know what Billy and um um Cassie had to say you know from their experience with them and uh. Gosh what's his name? Tramp's? Travis yeah yeah it's Liberty Extreme. Sorry Travis even though we hung out a week ago. Great pocket it was a great time. Those are the things I can have more time to do. Super cool. Obviously you'll be at those but um. You give me more than you usually text me midday on a Tuesday. Hey we're recording in three hours can you come down the mountain? Not Billy. I want to give you quite a bit of notice on that one because I really wanted to be there for you. That was my bad. No no that's good you know everybody's got uh things going on obviously but um the bittersweet part of it is we could kind of get to have you by yourself down here for a show. You know we're such a good conversation it's you know it's kind of good we got him down here and don't have a lot of other people around and we can kind of uh have some fun with it so appreciate you making the journey down here. Another Appalachian opinion. Absolutely one of the best. I'm getting messed with hardcore today. I don't know if they all got together ahead of time and and I think you were late. I said between five thirty and six. I got here about five forty-five. I thought it was five thirty is what I saw. He texted me five thirty and six and Emily walked in the door five twenty five and like crap I gotta go feed the pigs still before I come on down the mountain. The twenty eight minute drive down uh five mile mountain made it. Oh that you can do that. Made it in seventeen minutes. Oh might need some new tires. Might need some new tires. Well I got a text message from Call Me when you get this so like on four different occasions I humped it out of the field up on top of the hill where I had one bar and kept trying to call fail. All right do another load come back finally like on the fourth round at four something this evening we finally made contact but I thought he was going to cancel on this way he was talking he was like setting me up to let me down. Oh yeah I was in the field. Yeah mate this is it this is your this is your window of opportunity. Yeah and in those those back bowls and I know exactly where you were and uh that is it it's a beautiful place. Oh yeah beautiful photos so I've been sharing them and they've been getting you know quite a bit of uh quite a bit of attention on across two or three different platforms. It's the best place to be in a while. My 11 year old nephew takes his eight hours round the clock it don't matter what time three o'clock in the morning out of bed he comes he takes his eight. Well I'll save for future reference so I like the video you sent me that worked pretty good but in the future moving forward just for the uh sake of professionalism try and hold it as straight as you possibly can and get as much of it and then get as much different things as you can not just that like other videos and shit anything you see out there interesting dude I throw a little music to it I throw some little saying in there to it and I throw it out there and do this just it's build that's have you tried to drive a tractor and work a joystick to move a loader while driving a tractor with a bale on the back and spear bale on the front and hold a damn phone. You ain't gotta be moving the the uh loader at that point in time you could just be riding around in the field showing a mountain view or something like that there's a picture tracking the man I wish he was I wish he was that he just tiktok shamed you I need more I need more is all I'm saying and I'm giving you suggestions of what that more when I'm the bale's out of a field as fast I can harm to the barn unloading as fast I came back to the field 70 80 in a day I'm not riding around the field looking at a mountain view I am but I'm I'm what we say is I'm moving hey we need a cameraman Billy 30 of those seconds Billy I could already load two bales we need a cameraman well yeah obviously but in the meantime we can pull his phone out for 30 seconds at 4.2 miles an hour I do it my skids to your driving down you know Cambria on top of lefts the corner I can go wrong real quick right click every now and then but they'll get it well that is my request so you can find 30 seconds in there a couple of times they do I'm telling you people love that I think I took a couple more I didn't send you they eat it up they really enjoy some to me for you leave out of here and get to no service again but uh when I was doing it I was thinking to myself Jesus Christ how because I'm I'm using the steering wheel with this hand a joy stick here drive with your knee like all of us do well he's just gonna critique you again why are you gonna send him more videos you know he's gonna die and then he's gonna say he's the one that took it anyway and all that in the video I can't appreciate that that's why you well how do you think that I got lined up to the bail and stuck the bail and left with the bail and never stopped they don't know that and you're requesting this with how much a lot thank you very much I'm saying they just they don't understand all they see is the views they want to why don't you get yourself one of those farm interns from like tech or from farum college and tell them like yeah their job is just a video I'll tell you a lot about farming we can tell me around the camera don't tape them to the roof and when they say they didn't learn nothing be like oh so you weren't watching the video I really was thinking about that when I was up there doing that hey trying to be I was like you know what if I had one of these video game nerdy dudes that knows how to run all this stuff literally they could come to the field and just do all kinds of clips and it would be badass I would even watch enough to go pro on his hat look camera on the tractor and then on the front of the tractor and put a couple of Facebook marketplace ten dollars an hour you know a mexican video video so you might not show up anymore that's all you need or it could be a crackhead I'm not sure which one you know what would be better I'm not gonna go down having my 11 year old nephew doing all that stuff and video in him because that's what's unbelievable that's what you should do I mean he can farm like any of us at 11 years old that caption by itself would go crazy yeah you're sitting on the gold mine I mean like a champ to start mine 11 year old you know doing something like that that kid at the uh with the uh the John Deere kid yeah him talking like he's a 40 year old man yeah I love that that's my nephew it's just like him Zane yeah I mean I mean he when he's washing the meat grinder when we're processing buckles he's telling me what to do and I'm just going to tell yeah yeah okay well yeah what's the minute wrong damn it but there's also that has his downside as well because you gotta try to explain to 11 year if you're even though you're right yeah you can't tell an adult that they're that ain't right you're not right that's dumb let me tell you how to do it Zane you can't do that no he didn't do that he didn't do that he could tell everyone around this table at least that yeah no he didn't do it he didn't do it like that it was it was he didn't let me down really easy yeah he didn't humiliate me in front of anybody that's great didn't he tell you to slow down the driveway keep Uncle Jack happy oh yeah he did catch me speeding down a driveway because you do know this is such a gb way of doing things as well you do know that the speed limit on this driveway is 10 miles an hour and that is now you can dismiss it on your own respectfully like that you gotta just be like you're right I apologize and it's just like there's a meaning behind that that you need to listen to it keeps Uncle Jack happy you know what I said yep keeps Uncle Jack happy and arguably I may have been doing 13 or 14 miles an hour um you know so I thought I was being pretty respectful as it was but apparently you feel like you're dragging any slower but apparently I got hit with the gb speed gun and I was guilty I got vision boy by nine year old by nine year old I'm real bad at doing that on my road I got you've seen my wonderful dirt road and I'll speed down it big dust cloud third because there's no speed limit on it so it's 30 well no mark speed limit so it's 35 and then I'll be out in my driveway and some will go past faster than a brisk driver back so damn we're so hypocritical I know that's my gravel that I'm spraying all over the side of the road you can't do it you're on the west side or east side I'm on my house on the south side of the road but it all comes from a valley up to my hill so we don't that's kind of good though it's free life it's real nice when I have to uh open up the windows and dust down everything constantly yeah it's a thankless task well yeah I think Zane would be better getting videoed than me no both we need both why are we both for how eliminating ourselves I need you to argue with one another about oh he don't argue that you're both right about you he don't argue with Uncle Amos now him he'll argue his dad oh he's even told his dad you're doing it wrong German I was like why do you think I'm doing it wrong ain't the way Uncle Amos does oh I wouldn't say that as well oh I think the big topic at hand here is the fact that Amos is starting to kind of realize he's sitting on my gold mine I've been telling him this for years and he kind of looks mean telling me I'm stupid and now chip over here so you're talking about the cows and his eyes kind of light up he's like oh maybe you know maybe I could put some cameras out there I gotta say so are you saying you're gonna start an only fans in his name absolutely that's been planned all along I've been a prostitute my whole life so it ain't but it's all nature not even hawks too just all the small birds trying to pick up all the seeds and stuff they're cut off the grass oh I know small birds out there with them hawk circles and how much work and coolest part about everything she does for us is you know one day when we're long gone our kids and grandkids are going to be looking at some of her photographs like man look at the cool stuff they were doing back in man why didn't daddy dress up that day when everyone else dressed up on the 4th of July what daddy got his eyes closed y'all congregate behind closed doors and all talk about those because I heard that's the same thing the aimless and silent and bitching out because of the way sir they live the daddy of Asian got his eyes closed country man Jamaican grill our good friend Dennis who never fails to show up and we really need somebody to impress he was so happy that that shout out from holland oh really oh he he was so happy that that's a big shout out to yeah you know he's have to work today he showed up with omelets pulls up to the house this morning with omelets for us all and god they were good too that they were yeah so with him you're you know you're supporting a good person too not just somebody who you know does favors for favors or anything he's a genuinely good person he's part of the family up here you know he's part of the official the Galway family so and when you're going and chasing him down I think every week on Facebook he posts where he's going to be at the address in the location make sure if you're checking that out when you go up to him say farmer yep today you're in a different hat Amos is a dude who takes a bunch of immigrants and kind of ships around in terms of Appalachian but the wildest part is I don't think he's ever got a Hispanic immigrant or anything he's uh who do you have what have what what I just noticed your bottle of bottle of water by the way he's talking about you he's got a hard one he made his drink he's a little hard as a famous as a guy he takes immigrants and turns them into Appalachians and I said give him the give him the number oh yeah I what he said no that's me yeah I'm saying Ivan I'm saying I meant Ivan is 13 well English and uh Jamaican are probably less than one or two percent of immigrant population around here in Hispanics around probably 70 or 80 so it's just odd that uh he's going down the list I just wanted Jesus Christ you guys me and Dennis we fuck people up all time it's beautiful I mean we can we can fight clubs we can quiet a whole Walmart we pulled in the local garage mechanic shop to get a sticker on the truck and he's riding with me and there's like you know five old timers and bibs in there and I get I walk in and all of a sudden everybody I didn't notice that a couple of them was like hey Amos and I said not everybody's looking past me I know apparently Deniston got the truck and he's walking in and I'm pretty sure they never been in Jamaican through the doors of that building and put the Walmart in Rocky Mountain? No just a little mechanic shop oh back in the country and I was like hey I look back I was like oh I was like that's Dennis and I was like that's my brother he's born in the dark and they all laugh I get the sticker on the truck and I was like here Dennis put this in the glove box we get pulled over I gotta show that to the cops he was like and there's you know a bunch of kids and stuff out there in the garage park he's like uh-uh he said I'm black and cattle like burst my hands gonna be able to see him he didn't have the glove box yourself and everybody in there you know first up like I said D&T they never been in Jamaican through the doors of that and every one impression he created oh they were all laughing you know cracking up like damn did he just really say that um what great guy yeah make sure you're checking them out often we'll make sure you're following all of them on facebook bet has some phenomenal photographs she shares of nature quite options anybody else we missed out there we need to give a shout out to I think we've covered all the basis I should know all these things but I'm going off about three hours I'm going off about three hours of sleep for about five or six in a second and uh yeah and mixing alcohol with that lack of sleep today is kind of got me it's an interesting experiment that we're witnessing here by the way I hope you enjoy it whatever it is it's giving you a good laugh well however how have you been otherwise you know what's new with you what's going on uh wife and child obviously doing okay yeah just been busy working on the homestead um you know raising our little girl um we're uh and only now we'll be having our three-year anniversary this fall so we're going we've been planning a trip we're going to go hiking in the Alps for a week um for three years yeah well we've been doing morning I don't know by our stake or something at that point she I give her flowers once a week and stuff like that um so I kind of well yeah so uh yeah yeah yeah all the looks I just got what's like rain we appreciate all takes is one I'm to listen to why not don't have to listen to what I'll say is I used to delete I used to be a smoker I haven't smoked in cigarettes in four years now well congratulations thank you and uh I told my wife that uh the money I'd spend one once a day on a pack of cigarettes I can at least spend once a week on some flowers for you so you'll gotta spend a lot of money you buy the four dollar Walmart fucking flowers and she's very appreciative of that and I love my wife but uh man talk about pressure everyone's over one's on their way to food line right now we're over oh man I'm so fuck you're gonna have to start getting them for your daughter too because she's gonna have to know the ones I got yesterday birthday they get flowers I'm not gonna well the ones I got yesterday for though I got home and I told my daughter I said hey I mean she's 15 months 2000 sounds like look if you're real good for me until mommy comes home I'll say that we both got the flowers for it she was an angel until mom came home so it was 15 months now yeah yeah it's a beautiful time period you weren't playing like me you're both not with that type she's funny man she she's smart her personality starts permanent oh yes personality comes in at two o'clock in the morning because her teeth are coming in too that's you know uh he was kind enough to name his first daughter after my first daughter based on the fact that I'm yeah that you know what it is and say well my hero billy riddle that was his daughter's name as well yeah yeah I named my daughter you're right dude it's a beautiful name I my family comes from that county in Ireland and so we don't have that county actually he's anyone but uh but of course as soon as we named it uh I heard that uh my wife was going to say we stole his daughter's well honestly my wife uh lady who was a uh bridesmaid gone wed and has twins and I think one of them's name is Claire so they probably it's it's a good name I would much rather be more Claire's than you know whatever the flavor of the month is yeah what do you have going on over here on the sidebar this is why number one we need our cameras up because we're having a conversation we don't need any cameras on the conversation and just losing y'all this poor man we were just so damn funny we were just complimenting y'all's conversation on our side that's right that's what it was kid were you able to uh hear uh their conversation was going on where you tend to tune in to ours right Jesus Christ he was like I kind of started I didn't help I started I didn't have anything to do with it no here's how it started so I was like damn I just figured out that apparently there's only one that's got good swimmers all the rest of us had girls yeah first oh and Simon says I can't knock him I can't even say this no I know that's why we needed what were you saying Billy all right is it something about knocking something off no you gotta get us all and try to get one hell yes I would honestly goodness it's uh more than one would probably be difficult that boy is uh ace karma rolled up in a nice little fireball you talk about little amus yeah well so I'm the fourth in the family of eight and my mom and after we were all adults mama told me one time you were the fourth and I know nothing about raising a kid trying to raise you and I can pretty well thanks for the minute hey there's big uh numbers in the fourth my uh so my cousin's a third and he finally had a boy about a year ago as well and so his son is now the fourth and he's hoping that his son will continue the oh I'm the fourth kid in the family yeah no they've they have so you're talking about like junior one two like yeah but it in a consecutive line too so not like you know a gap and then somebody else like oh hey we're gonna pick up this name again Alan I could say I don't know I got a perfect the first time I got I got a perfect the first time they got a big one you're good but I think that's I think that's terrible work I want to say raising a single child yeah I'm gonna have to be careful have multiples yeah you don't end up like me if you're a single child same here yep but I just look at my I look at I really feel like that's it I look at my girl and I feel like that's a disservice to have one child no playmate there in the house you know there's so much you have to learn with your sibling how to share how to do this how to do that you're a single child it gives you a good and your sport I don't know I'm just saying when I say sport you know I know it's man we're lucky enough I mean got a four-wheeler as soon as she could was big enough to have one you know I mean most kids are not that lucky yeah I mean I call her a free grazer because we live in the middle of nowhere on tons of acres in my 30s so she's better off than I am but you're an only child I am wow yeah I know I did not for some reason I thought you had a sibling but well I have like step brothers like later in life and all that but nothing I didn't grow up with you're not a child I'm an only child I got step siblings now that so at what age did your y'all get steps uh I was in college my twice so I don't really fucking care but but I grew up literally literally it was it was fun times two of my step brothers were my neighbor I got I love my family and I'll all say on that front is uh you know both my parents are happier than they've ever been and that's all that matters in my mind for them but it is funny being like oh yeah this is my step brother we used to play kickball when we lived next door now what I will say if you can do it perfectly Billy probably hit that mark as girl boy girl so little brother you know Claire be older but it ain't gonna be long till little brother's gonna have sisters back yeah and then he's gonna be big brother to the youngest one and it's three uh I mean that to me I think that's the ultimate well most importantly too is you know me and Terry obviously had children a little bit later than most people do I just turned 43 and LLB won in a couple of weeks um you know we're gonna be going faster than then you know majority of that's most likely um so what's important to me is Benji has a sister below him and above him to help look after him as well because he's gonna be super super smart but he is a little boy with the namesake aimless and brothers need sisters yeah so you're saying he's gonna be a professional podcaster when he grows up oh it's 50 percent from you I will say I will say that Claire would probably more suited for that she's a person of a was as an as an only child I did not appreciate I can see my boys now that you can have completely opposite people as siblings oh yeah and I had no idea because they I mean these these boys they can count on one hand the times in their life when they have agreed on something they actually know it like they they really have opposite opinions on absolutely everything and that blows my mind and how much do they agree to disagree on it well that's the problem they just they fight all the damn time okay oh good yeah that's great it's constant you've instilled that old that old mountain wisdom of you know me against my brother my brother and I against my cousin my family against the world right and and they're coming off how close are they in age uh you got a seven-year-old and nine-year-olds two and a half years in between them for my brothers literally two under two right that's right me the next boy is 13 months younger than I am and the next brother is 16 months younger than so all of us are in a lesson for you yeah and maybe six month break 13 months but you know I really think I think I really think that's what it that sets people up for success more than we can imagine because from as young as I've as far back as I can remember everything in life was a competition between me and my brothers I don't care if it was hauling water to the animals or riding your bicycle off the barn roof you know it was all about competition competition and our sisters I mean they helped us do chores they were out on the farm with us as well and you know I really think that from little up when you there's things that you learn having brothers and sisters that a single kid that it's impossible to learn that's why they try so hard to to kill the family and kill family values and say well you don't need kids young you don't need a lot of kids it's bad for the environment blah blah you know families stick together and and families look after one another and the more they kill that bond the the weaker we become as a society you know I wish my only regrets I didn't have started having kids 10 years earlier I like that five or six it's unaffordable to have I mean yeah but you always find a way though can you imagine having eight kids oh not today y'all did it in a one bedroom in a one bathroom house I would I would maximize my life insurance if that's what my case was so that they would all and eventually they would all but I don't I enjoy it I don't necessarily agree with that if you were been 18 years old and you just cranked out eight from 18 for how many ever um when you're 50 years old all your you ain't you're retired all your sons are doing the damn work they're mowing the grass they're doing you know the tax man has crushed every one of those dreams I use that mentality at work with my part-timers uh I tell my staff don't look for your back look for your but looking back on as a child just like it wasn't like I felt obligated to I liked it I enjoyed it I mean you know my granddaddy made it and that's the problem the generational thing you know my daddy couldn't make two boards stick together with a nail if he tried I mean he you know he's a maintenance man for the government I mean he clean-taughts for a living um but my granddaddy feel you know we were raised on the farm you know feel that whole hey you know and we formed with grand you know that don't exist no more my old tension purpose is that Amos should be a Amos should be a statistic like if you put you know his growing up conditions and just put Baltimore Maryland in front of Coway Virginia your whole entire reception on what was going on would be completely different you would say eight children one room less than thirty two thousand dollars a year you know you would there would be stereotypes you'd be falling feels in Baltimore and and almost 100% none of those kids would make it I couldn't stand up in the living room with a house now every single one of your brothers and sisters y'all all turned out really well like I ain't none of the bunches behind bars none of them is you know flying drugs under teal water you're still tired top top of the line citizens eight out of eight is I mean that's ungodly unheard of especially coming from that that socio-economic background like I said if you were any else in the country in the ghettos and stuff what do you think the percentages in there out of eight children make them it may be one very half of one and mom on one maybe you know we're becoming Mexican ghettos oh and that's me and Lester like that's our one of our giant talking points we talk about all the time no different ran away from home with less than 200 bucks and a change of clothes in the birth certificate and and it is super successful by all standards who has you know so why is the statistics not the same for people but I mean and I can tell you what it is it's the wheel it's the want to it's the I'll show you I can don't be stupid while being stupid you know and that's what it is it's the grit don't be stupid while being stupid that was my granddaddy's saying uh I've got a bumper sticker made up for you but if you're in a huge family close in age like I was I can remember barely 13 12 13 years old like at night being upstairs in the girls bedroom because it was all the boys slept in one bedroom five of us five boys in one bedrooms and it won't be I can tell you and all the girls slept in upstairs bedroom and mom and dad slept in the bedroom but Sarah or Sarah and Hannah me Jeremiah Levi we're all close enough in age at that at that age in life I can remember all of us sitting upstairs talking about like our dreams like willing to work together as a unit to make it happen and mom and dad decided when they decided to move to Wisconsin um you know four of us stayed behind and we bought bought the house didn't bought the whole farm eventually but you know and it we're as a unit working with each other more bouncing ideas figuring this out figuring that out you know and my good support network yeah and that's the difference that right there is the difference yeah with siblings you've got somebody to bounce stuff off of that you otherwise wouldn't if you're you know coming up on your own you have to figure that out on your own or have friends and encourage you know when my sister was in med school and stuff you know we have people you can trust too you can my wife talks to her older sister literally three times a day oh we might we don't do that shit well i mean i don't live in the same community neither but when we do talk sometimes me and my brothers will talk like i've talked to my one brother in wisconsin we talked one night for three hours and i don't even know how that's i'm happy that my wife doesn't talk to her sister for three hours because you know that's about the time that i get with her when i come home from work after we put down our daughter for the night and if it was three hours every night i'd be like look i love your sister but can you please talk to her while you're at work so i can talk to you too well there's sometimes men my wife might not even see each other for three and sleep in the same bed she goes to work at four in the morning and you know if i'm especially in hay season yeah i'm not getting home till maybe midnight or i might mo hay till three o'clock in the morning she'd get in the shower go to work because i'm walking in and dragging my butt in the house to turn around wake up three hours later get the daughter to school and go back at it again and what you got i mean that's just that's what we ought to do yeah but when you get the chance to sit down and talk that's why you can talk to your brother for three hours well family's important here really is and you know family doesn't have to be blood out i look at y'all's family everybody's sitting on this table you know yeah and and that is as important as family in my old highland clans is even though you don't have the same last name you all you know we strive towards the same kind of you know goal at the end of the day but you know we all have kids and everyone want all of our kids know all of our kids know that this is daddy's friends we're all friends that in itself kind of keeps a check on what they would do if any one of us was in the presence of them without their daddy not that they thought we might jump them but out of respect you know they're not wouldn't maybe be as slick as they might have been you know and i think that's as important as the family is the village family absolutely um very much very much and we're we've lost that and we can see what the outcome is but we haven't lost it society might why that's what i'm saying i think up up here in the mountains and you get other communities isolated communities it's still you know prevalent but the majority of you know the third most populous nation on the planet has lost to the sense of community but it's because you know you got to consolidate everything and got to sell the farm and move to the city to make more money oh thanks parents i'll bet you this region would have be the fastest region in this country to have each other's back if something went bad we might fight each other every day look at hurricane helene man how many apple actions came together to break through to other communities who were high school football rivals yesterday had a deep hatred for them but hey you know they got flooded out we're going to go down there and give them everything we can to help them out and still try to compare that to the fire in uh california yeah how many how many people were inspired by what was going on here and inspired by the rhetoric going on like uh you know what's the name out the out west uh pnw guerrillas is handle but uh alex yeah uh yeah he packed up came clear cross country probably a thousand dollars o d g g l l c is his company that sells milk serpent he donated tens of thousands of dollars of his products you know taken a loss in his company but not out of a oh hey i'm trying to gain social media respect but out of hey these people are in you know trouble and they need help and he came here and he showed us um he was even helped he was even helping restring power lines on the side of the road because the road was closed and the linemen weren't doing anything and he asked them what they had to do they said we got to pull up the line yeah man his boys got out on the side of the road and restring freaking freaking three telephone poles and the one thing about the you know the flooding down there the thing that helped them greg biffle and what's that where the cletus mcfarlane who's that youtube guy that uh but you know biffle i mean that that's his that's his country and you know he's lucky enough in life to have in that from nas car have money had his own helicopter and but it's a youtube it is cletus mcfarlane i'm not sure i'm not aware i think it is i'm not uh but i'm sure that guy hey you know get some good video and biffle but that right there's what really made it explode in the social media worlds was you know because mcfarlane you know he's already got tons and tons of followers and biffle had to help you know and they were they were realized holy shit this is bad this is real bad you know just like the podcast we had you know that was my whole thing when you realize how bad it is stuff and trying to get it out he was the first person that i saw any footage out of black mountains one billy bull and stuff oh yeah right i think he was the first person to get stuff out and i started sharing it that crap went viral fast but you know as we said in the the days and weeks after is as awful as a tragedy was it was apalachus finest hour you know our people came together and i got a buddy that works disaster relief who's still down there right now still working on stuff he said they're going to run out of money long before they actually complete anything because you know government bureaucracy but well wasting money too yeah i mean he's getting paid obscene amounts of money to load a tractor you know a dozer onto a trailer and drive it five miles because then sit around all day because they haven't gotten an authorization to actually do because by regulation instead of 15 man company from virginia that had would haul their equipment down there and work for a week and do it at an eighth of the price just like they would up here and come back up here you know somebody's getting prevailing wages and predict i mean there's so much waste in that shit he works seven days i was talking to him he worked seven days a week and i asked him what do you really do on the weekend said unless we have a ticket open to actually go do something we nothing our trucks and we sit at the yard until you know whoever the official is above them tells them that's why they run out of money and like i mean god he travels all around like he goes to you know i think he's getting ready to go down to florida with his company he goes up helps build the ice roads up in the last like so he actually goes and does stuff he says a lot of them just but it's all going to contract jobs yeah and that's all it is as long as the government money is there no one cares at least the corporate side of things because the corporation is getting paid well it's just so it's so run so choppy that nobody knows i mean i really think a lot of people would care if they actually could comprehend what they pay in taxes versus the amount of money that's wasted how many people how many people do you think nationally think that uh you know everything's fine in north carolina right now that everything's back to how it was you know september 27 of 2024 well most people don't remember what country don't even know anything bad happened in first place exactly except for people who listen to this podcast people that see us push online well uh i gotta ask you real quick to this probably the question of the hour though uh before we jump on a couple of things have happened in the past couple of weeks of relevance uh what do you make of the news we had to drop on last week showed kind of exactly what all the old sentiment was that i'm heartbroken that you're leaving brother but at the same time the fact that you are doing what you guys want to do you know i i respect it 1000% is it like you jealous no because i grew up at the beach and i'm i you know i grew up as a little kid at the beach spending weekends there and i love the water but the mountains are my home and we my wife and i were actually toying with the idea of moving back towards richmond a couple of months ago i had applied for a job down that way um it would have paid enough that she could have been a stay-at-home mom and it was kind of one of those like the the good was that way in the bed but in the back of my mind i was like you know what if we do this we're buying a property up on the mountains and i'm literally every week and going back up to the mountains because this is where i belong but uh as anus so uh nicely put it you know you can't keep a semen away from water for too long but no i'm looking forward to uh every time you guys are back at least having a drink with you and seeing you and oh absolutely every now and then being able to make our way down to bimini and uh yep yep yep yep yeah telling our daughter like oh hey uncle uncle simon and heather uh have a beach house for you to come visit come on let's tear it up no it's it's gone it's bittersweet like uh you know it's a very it's every week that i get into this hope sister this projects this you mentioned it on you mentioned it at the fifth of july and and emily and i came away and we were driving back and she said what do you think the chances are of them when i say if simon even brought it up it's happening and it's probably happening soon so yeah it was we're gonna miss the fourth and fifth of july parties up well yes i mean that yeah that's gonna be a big yeah that's a bummer um yeah but every every week has been just progressively more reflective in in you know what we might be not leaving behind because it's always their memories are great right and and you can't you can't you can never get rid of them absolutely which is which is beautiful um but yeah it's it's it's very bittersweet um we're actually catching up with some stuff funnily enough um but yeah the i had a whole letter typed up that i was gonna bring me like hey i found this in this the stuff i bought from you last week and it had like the the british royal seal on it and it said like mi6 has reassigned sir simon wench to me i completely forgot it i got halfway down five mile man i was like son of a no that would have been a good one i'm happy for you guys and hey i got some good chickens off of you too so that works excellent i wish i could afford the property but uh you know the the lottery gods weren't that kind to me last week they didn't get me either because i want a bigger boat but bigger boats they're always trouble i don't know about you chipp it hasn't quite it hasn't hit me yet i don't know i'm thinking it'll be gone for like two months i was gonna wake up one day fuck i got the countdown going on oh it ain't gonna happen that quick unless someone's gonna be checkbook checkbook from the bank load of money but we'll see i mean the person's out there that would that wants this place i'll miss up hey simon i got the international hung up on this hill can you come over here and get it while i get the tracker up up to the front see if we can drag it yeah
