The episode blends tech review with entertainment, introducing Strada as a practical solution to cloud storage limitations. It allows users to treat their local NAS as a remote, streamable drive, enabling seamless editing from any device without expensive cloud fees. The hosts highlight key benefits: no price hikes, cross-platform support, and efficient file access. This is contrasted with a lighthearted game where two contestants describe everyday objects using only one sense each, leading to humorous and creative guesses. The narrative is interspersed with personal anecdotes—Wade recounts a severe derecho storm with widespread tornado warnings, while Bob shares his frustration with a poorly maintained bridge and recurring construction delays. The hosts also critique infrastructure inefficiencies and climate-related weather trends, adding depth and relevance. The episode concludes with a fun, rule-tested sensory game that emphasizes creativity and critical thinking, culminating in Bob winning on points. Overall, the show combines practical tech insights with engaging, human-centered storytelling, showcasing both innovation and everyday life challenges in a humorous and accessible format.
This episode of Distractable is brought to you by Strada. Strada is a solution for your cloud storage woes. Companies like Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive, and Frame I/O always run out of space. And over the years that you've had them, they never get cheaper. Even though technology advances somehow, a terabyte on these cloud storage servers still cost the same or bizarrely cost more. One second, sorry I hit the interrupt up here back, I gotta go reset the editing PC, so Dana can keep editing for a moment. Well that's a bizarre, that's a bizarre workflow. It sounds like he's not using Strada. With Strada you can use your local NAS as remote storage but your editor can just stream the files that they need and access the files they need from your computer as if it's a hard drive. Oh we just have a PC set up here that I have to go manually in our act with so that my editor who lives in Florida can remote desktop in to the access my external storage which is connected to this computer, it's a lot. It always works super smooth, especially if we're not here and like the PC needs reset, she can't do anything. Okay, all right, so imagine your NAS existed as a folder, you know, on that computer. That folder from your NAS can be a folder on their desktop with Strada and then they can stream the files that they need to edit with on their own computer in their own editing software and their lightweight, easy to work with and they can even render from those files because it'll stream the frames they need from the raw files as needed. So I would not need a second computer here for her, she could just use her computer. Wait, wait, though, I spotted the catch, I spotted this is where they always get you. So when it runs out of storage space, how much do they charge you to expand that? They don't have cloud storage, it's not cloud storage, it's your storage. So when your storage runs out, add more storage. God, that would have for 10 years, I needed this. Wait, wait, wait, no, okay. So this is one of those things where it only works on like Mac, right? This sounds great and it's just great, but then it's like, oh, but I'm a PC so I can't know both. Yeah, works on both. Yeah, it has automatic file like organizations for the different volume structure and you can still access from a Mac straight to your desktop. You have to, you have to end DaVinci go like, you know, the exchange, the command lines for things, but that's just for the editing software part. If in the strata software, you can interact seamlessly in between both. And it starts at just $8 a month per editor. How much are you playing for your cloud storage per editor? I wish it was anything like $8 a month, I could tell you that. Dude, a PC, the PC that sits here that does the editing alone, it would decades, it would last for $8 a month, decades it was cheaper than one computer after a place every few years. Good evening, gentle listeners, all watchers and welcome to destractable this episode. Mr. Us Mark warns of superstorms is surprised at things getting hard. This set is so dull, it's a sensory snooing. Bridge bashing Bob shows his shiny, relevance like a Gamji and guesses like a gangster. Clear the where he wade bunkers down and not only evades continuous path passenger conveyors from sharing the podcast to outplay eats. It's time for smell my touch now sit back and prepare to be distracted and enjoy the show. Hello and welcome to Distractable, I know you stayed up all night for the release of this episode, I know that it's midnight and or some equivalent early hour you dedicated listener and or viewer you. You win the special prize of being the very first person to ever listen to this episode. If you're listening to this two weeks late, our show has tanked, our audience has left us, we are destitute, you are the first person to show up within two weeks. Oh my god, help us please, share this podcast, we're dying, we're losing ranks, uh, we're falling down, down, down the listing. Wait you okay. Yeah, I was trying to imitate that football coach a couple of years ago who had the weird press conference where he was just like staring off at aliens the whole time. What a niche reference, I'm going to give you a niche reference point for that. Thank you. Yeah, niche very, very niche, very nice. I am Markiplier. The host of this episode whereby I define, I'm not interrupting you. Just go on. You're right. No, no, just my eyes went, oh Pokemon pack and I was like, oh my god, man, that's really something. I define what today's episode is going to be about. But these two lovely gentlemen here are the only contestants we will ever have on this podcast except when I'm not hosting and then I will be one of those contestants. He's really adding our retention. This is climbing us the ranks. Yeah, yeah. Mark, I'll do this. Oh my god. What are you going to get? The kids love this. No, pseudo widow. Oh my god. Is that good? Is that a good one? Show me a full art. Show me a full art. Show pop of art. Is that good? No. Is that not? I guess. Alright, I'm going to put my cards on the table. There's a bounty where you may rip a pack of any set of Pokemon cards and if I got an EX or higher, I got points. I'm just really hoping that would have a banger in it. Well, damn. And I don't know what that means. So I won't give you anything for that. It's not a bounty for you. It's not for you. These two gentlemen here have been living life to the fullest and I can't wait to hear exactly what they've done in their full, full life to entertain us all here. Who wants to go first? Wade does. Oh, yeah. Wade, what have you been up to? Oh, man. So last week, we recorded. We did the lovely choose your own adventure and then Bob and I got to flee quickly because we realized, what's that noise? Oh, my technology must be acting up. Oh, no, it's tornado sirens for both of us. That's weird. Right. And then we found out we had a Derecho. I think it's how it's pronounced. A Derecho hit us, which is just like a long, continuous line of storm. Dereco. I think. I don't know. I've heard it both ways. No, Derecho might actually be it. I think I said Dereco once and people were like, he thinks it's pronounced Dereco. I was like, yeah, I do think that I. Is it not? Derecho. Derecho. Probably that. But yeah, one of those hit and that was fun because it was just crazy wind. We had up some different like news things including there's like the YouTuber name, like Ryan Hall, y'all who does like weather reports. We had these different things up, trying to see what was going on and they didn't have tornado watches anywhere. But there were like 11 tornado warnings in each warning area was the size of like a county. Damn. So they're just like, if you live in these areas, tornado warning and it's just all of southern Ohio, south of southeastern Indiana, northern Kentucky, it's like, that's all of us live watching the news. That's all of us. We're all in that question. Were they the similar size of the county or were they just issuing warnings based on counties? No, you know how they draw boxes when there's when there's tornadoes, they'll be like, here's a line and a box and it's moving this way and they like draw on the map. Yeah, yeah. They just had several boxes that were basically everywhere from northern greater Cincinnati area down into Kentucky past the airport was just like box box. It looked like Jerry mandering boxes because some of them weren't just like squares. Some of them was like, so we're like trapezoids and then it had like a tail go off and it's like, why does this one have a thing that goes off and curls up like like bricks and many figs mustash like, what is going on with these boxes? This is weird. Yeah. That's quite a reference. That's good. But it was it was very bizarre because like I said, there was no watches. They were all straight to warnings because like, I guess the way the derecho was moving in the entire front of the storm had like spinning circulation. So everywhere was a potential for a tornado. I think only two ended up touching down as far as I know one in like South Eastern Ohio and one in like northern Kentucky somewhere, but like it was it was an intense 30 to 45 minutes of like tornado warning sirens for like five minutes in silence back on silence. Like just kept going on and off for quite a while and the wind in the rain were pretty intense, but ultimately just ended up being a bad thunderstorm for us. But damn, I had never seen where just everything was tornado warning because I think warning is the more severe ones. So it's like, Oh, that means it's like touchdown, but apparently it's not with that meant that it just meant that everything was strongly indicative of swirling winds and potential tornado or something. I don't know. I didn't fully get it. I mean, all of this is due to the super El Nino. That's a brewing. The boy. Yes. Super the boy. Ah. Is it Nino like son? My son. This is basically I has been confirmed that this is going this year is going to be a rare super El Nino. It's already done. It's it's over. You know, it's like in drive when cuts the guy's arm. He's like, it's don't worry about. It's over. It's all over. There's no pain. There's going to be a lot of pain. So super El Nino is coming. The why you got hit by the first hurricane, like ever a really rare hurricane or something recently, didn't it? Like that also never happens. Yep. Yeah. Many pacific hurricanes are going to form out of this, which is not.
It used to be a thing where it's like, oh man, that barely never happens. Now there's going to probably going to be several. Great. But yeah, that was my entire week. Was that 25 minutes of waiting for the thunderstorm to pass? Nothing else happened. Nope, not a thing. Not a thing, nothing. All right. Bob, he's stolen the derecho story, so that didn't happen to you. I was sort of fit in and talk about that, but that's okay. That's okay. You want to know what happened to me that I don't think I talked about yet. No. So I'm not going to tell you exactly where we live. But we live down a road where it's like, if you go out of our neighborhood, go from our house to the exit of the neighborhood that's traditionally, as there is, you can turn left or you can turn right. And if you turn left, you're like five minutes away from there's a Kruger, there's shops and restaurants, there's civilization. And if you turn right, you essentially drive out into the farmlands. There's a grocery store for those that don't live around here. Everyone knows Kruger's. Kruger's big time. Okay, I'm sorry. Kruger's literally horns like every grocery store across the country. Anyway, sorry. Sure. They own like Ralph's and Harris Teeter. What about Guam? It's a Kruger home. Guam. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a Kruger in Guam, but I don't think they owned the place. No, I don't think that's how that works. Ah, got you, Kruger. Found your weakness. Please continue. If you drive out towards the farmlands, you also have to go underneath a really awkward bridge where like there's two roads that cross under the bridge, so there's like blind turns. And anyway, it sucks. It's super dangerous. And there are stop signs. But people just blow through it at full speed because I don't give a shit. Has there any? It's anyway. But so leaving our neighborhood, the left turn, where you're really close to all the cool stuff we wanted to live near when we picked this location to live, there's a bridge that was damaged and they closed that whole section of road for the last four months. So even though we live within like five minutes of a huge shopping center and all the, you know, whatever places we would want to go on a regular basis, we actually then lived four times as far away from them because you had to go the wrong way out of the neighborhood and then loopway the hell around and it was like, it felt like we lived in a different place for the last four months. They finally finished it and in those four months, they gave us a 15 foot long bridge for a two lane road. It's one of those things where I knew what it was going to be because I knew what it was before it closed, but like it finally opened and we were like, oh my god, they took the detour signs down. Can we go the other way? And the first time I drove across it, it was just like, I fucking, I had to drive off into it with god knows where for a quarter or a third of a year, almost for fucking for this. Just put some boards over it and let me go where I want like, it's nice that that's open. And now I have all the, you know, how you develop like driving habits. Now I keep going the wrong way because I'm like, Oh, got a loop around. Never mind. Never mind. Let me back in. God. It's so infuriated to just drive over because it's literally less than 15 feet of, it's like a bridge over a tiny little creek, but it was, they just, it's fine. And I'm glad that it's open because now I can do whatever I want, but it literally felt like we lived like half an hour out in the country when we live in the suburbs. We don't live that far from anything. You just have to go the correct way to get to it. I will say that other intersection you're talking about, that one is shady. That one does make me nervous every time I'm like, God, I hope someone's not going 90 miles an hour on this road as I turn. And they do. It was a whole thing because at the beginning of the closure, I was like, Oh, it's like an adventure. Oh, we'll just go and it was that descent from like, Oh, it's okay. It'll only be a few months. Oh, it's okay. I'm kind of tired of it. The last like three weeks until it opened both many, and I were just like, I fucking ate this stupid fucking bridge. I'm going to buy a helicopter and land on the roof of the house and use a ladder to climb to my life. It's fine. It's open now. It's fine. Like Samwise, Gamji and Lord of the Rings, you're like, this is it. If I go this way to the store, I mean, the furthest from home I've ever been. And then like now you're like thousand yards stare, just fucking carrying Frodo's corpse as you're like, I must have watched a different Lord of the Rings. I don't remember Samwise coming jaded, smoking it, just ever Samwise, the cigar and the army helmet. I was like, I'm talking about you and your butt isn't on my mind. All right. Well, that sounds a problematic, I'm very sorry about that. Not anymore. Now it's great. Is it controversial? Will I get killed if I say that I think that road construction in Ohio and probably many other states is an absolute mobs, Gam, like when we were in college two decades ago, almost. There was construction on 75, you know, all around the Hoppe Street and the Mitchell Avenue exits. It's the same. It's literally the same fucking cones. It was almost two full decades ago. And like they finished parts of it, like the Hoppe Street exit got totally redone. It's crazy. It's all new. But all the other shit is there's still, it's down to two lanes on each side. There's cones. There's one highway one, you know, and one side goes onto the other side because they're like scrunching in it. It's the fucking same. It's literally a scam. It's some kind of crazy mob front or some shit because it doesn't make any sense. And there's that kind of shit everywhere in Cincinnati. There's a spot on 275 North where they finally added like a fourth lane for traffic during a really busy section. It is always closed. I even stand still. I have never seen it. Anyone allowed to use this mysterious lane that they built? Wait, I know that part. I know that part. Yeah. It's never been accessible. That's always like, nope, not allowed to go in this lane. It's just, it's just a lane they built so that they could have a lane closed and meet their contract requirements without actually having to close one of the three lanes. They let people. Nobody's allowed in it. No matter the circumstance. I don't get it. I was back at home and also I was just like, I was going to the airport and my mom was driving me and I was like on 75 and I was like, it looks so familiar. It's like I never left. Wow. There's the same construction here in this stretch. Turn on the radio. Traffic's backed up from Michel Paddock on 75. And it is funny. I've never seen anyone ever work on it. I've seen trucks. I've seen trucks. I've seen equipment. There's a bunch of shit parked everywhere. Parked everywhere. Never anyone work on it. You walk up and it's actually the same cars from 20 years ago that just been there. It is crazy. We've all seen like videos of some bridge like an overpass thing collapsed somewhere. There was a problem with it in either America or some other country, probably some other country. And they fix it overnight. One night. It's just like, you see them close the one side of the highway, then they build it all back up in the other side. And even I'm like, I didn't know concrete could harden that fast. I'm like, that seems like pretty quick. But even though they get it all and it's done, like totally new, what the fuck even happened. There was a fire under one of the big bridges that crosses the Ohio River a couple of years ago. I think like a playground or something random burned and it caused damage to the bridge. I feel like they fixed that bridge pretty damn quick considering like the apparently the fire got hot enough to like melt something in the support that was apparently pretty serious. But like, yeah, I feel like that was like a month or two and they're like, yeah, that's fixed. Like you're saying, like two decades of like, hmm, this pothole might be bigger than the road itself, but we can't be bothered to take care of this right now. It's a conspiracy, man. Much like with the LAX people mover that they've been working on for fucking forever. And just absolutely has been every year. It's like another, it was supposed to be July this year, moved into December. And it's just like, it's just, it's 99% done. They've been saying it's 99% done for years. But it's just not done anyway, I see it at the airport. I see it going, like, wow, look at that. It looks so nice. So pretty. Oh, wow. That'd be, it goes right up the top there. Drop it. Oh, look at it. Go. Not ready. Just not ready, guys. I think maybe the people that we're driving, I just got riders block not giving you more for that. Why do I even bother? They're complaining. Is that complaining? Is that complaining? Is that complaining? Is there a point for complaining? No, there's no point for complaining. Then yes. Or wait. So the name of this game, uh, I'm trying to figure out if this will be offensive or not. And if it's not changing, it's just beep it. What I call it really was, oh, God, Sam, oh, Sam, I did it in the blood. I can't ever hear my gun. That's that's that. Sam blow up his head. I want you guys to use the other senses besides sight to describe things to the other player who will be guessing what that is. Now we can, we have touch, taste, smell and sound if we don't have sight. You could use no exception. I guess if you really think that I don't think it'll help you in your, I know about his arc. I don't know about exception. Okay. That's funny. Thanks. Thanks. He did the thing. Yeah. That's funny. I don't know if that takes away a point. I can't remember what that does. No. If you laugh the way I say, I think I should get a point with the fuck for those that don't know. Any of you know what no exception is? Are you talking about pro, pro pre exception? Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah, where you're like aware of the position of your body parts in space sort of thing. That's what it is Yeah, yeah, pro-present of non-noice stuff. What is no exception then? I don't know. Is that a real thing? I hadn't heard it. I was like, well, he said it so confidently. I assume it's something I think it's a movie with Leonardo DiCaprio. Okay. No system is the nervous systems physical process of detecting and encoding Harmful or potentially damaging stimuli. So that's like the pain sense of pain Is that another sense? Where's that part of the touch? I mean, that's that's sort of part of touch I think that's part of your like physical contact nervous system. I don't know. Yeah, but pro-presentation is Typically regarded as the sixth sense of knowing where your limbs are in position around you You have a sense of where they were in spatial you can't do this without proprioception Not in my head Not in my head. Not in my head. I'm not touching me. I'm not touching me. I'm not touching me right Right. Yeah, I think so who's not hitting you? Who's not hitting you? Everyone I we're generally saying we can't use that if you could if there's something in here where you could I'll I'll give you a bonus point for it, but I'm pretty sure you can't we're gonna take turns Someone will go through and how it works is you have four senses to describe something with I'm debating whether you can Start whether it's a standard order where it's like starts with touch taste smell or sound or I can give it to you where You can choose which one you would describe it and maybe that's advantageous because The less senses you use the more points you're gonna get if you can only use one and they can guess it with that one Then you get four points, right? I like that. I like that. It's it's our pick But you lose points the more you have to the more you have to resort to other senses or for each sense you have to resort I like that. I think that makes sense if it wasn't so annoying to end up be like what if we use a wheel to determine the first sense We have to give I had debated that as well. I thought about random assignment. That's fun, but also that would suck Sam make a wheel Make me a wheel If you guys think it's better if it's random what you have to start with I will lean towards it I think it's funny your own if it's better. You could just find a picker like an online random picker thing and then just let Sam worry about the visuals Don't lie. All right site site site. No site. This is something I'll be looking out for you cannot make any description With site so color what it looks like in any way shape or foreign any any description that would you really it feels like purple bomb It feels very blue. Yeah, I know I get that I get that. Yeah, all right, so you can't do that But you can go touch tastes smell sound Um, and we're gonna try this with the wheel to see if this works out. I think it could be fun So I'm going to message you. Well, let's determine who's gonna go first heads Bob tails Wade. We're gonna switch it up a little bit Mon universe. I don't even know which one I want that's heads for Bob. I think yeah That's what she said Bob. You're gonna go first I'm going to give you and I again with most of these things back and forth I'm trying to pair them up so that what I think is the predominant sense would help the most I'll match them up The randomness might make that not work so well, but they're there when we do one and we'll stick to the one all the way through And then we go to the other person the matchups are kind of similar ish Maybe we'll see we'll see this is your first thing you're trying to describe to Wade and I'm spinning the wheel of what sense you have to use first is proprioception on the wheel just to be clear Not putting it on the wheel. I feel like that. Can I can we make that where it's like if you choose that and you do that first and you get it It's like a bonus. Yeah, you know what if if you if you if you can get it So your first one is taste you can always use proprioception if you want to use it and you'll get a bonus point So if he if he guesses this on that on taste you'll get up to four points because you that was your first sense Every sense you have to use after that is one less point if you don't get if he doesn't get it at all You get no points if he guesses it to incentivize him guessing well He gets a point so when and if he gets it he will get a point. I am going to especially because I got taste I am going to start with proprioception Okay, can I describe that we're starting from a certain position. Yeah, we're we're I'll allow it and I'll make rules to like against things if it's too much You are standing you feel like your whole body is kind of going up and forward and you feel like your arm Which is outstretched is moving at a different speed than the rest of your body but moving in the exact same direction up and forward Okay, so you're standing and you feel like your body is moving all together up and forward and a consistent pace But your arm which is outstretched feels like it's moving in the exact same direction But probably at a slightly faster speed than the rest of your body So it's kind of like being pulled from out to the side to move to more like out in front and to the side of you As you're experiencing the sensation do I know if we're describing nouns or actions or like do I have specific or the things I'm looking for This is a thing Standing bodies moving forward both up and forward I can lean up my arm moving diagonally up a little bit faster after an amount of time I don't know no more no more you gave your description okay, okay, okay Okay, so now I've got to make a guess yeah, yeah, you got a guess What feels like that proprioceptively, you didn't describe me going through any kind of like I'm just going up and forward So I'm just gonna say lying. That's not a thing. That's an action. You flailed with proprioception Okay, do I now have to use taste? I think that's how the rules go, right? I will say that that is that is such that that was more powerful than I thought it was I am adding proprioception to the wheel from now on because I feel like it should be Well, this one this one this thing in particular like that was a really that's such a specific to this thing experience You'll get it what you'll get it once you know you'll get it once you know I'm gonna feel really dumb when I don't so now you I also yeah because otherwise I'd have to make it risk reward and but I I appreciate the boldness of that one Well, we'll give that a freebie and I'll we'll see how it goes here But now you have to describe it with taste. This is a thing and we're assuming that you are tasting this thing You taste one part of it and it tastes kind of like rubbery in a Filthy unpleasant way and if you taste sort of the other main part of it. There's another there's no thing to taste It tastes metallic But like greasy like oily right roller coaster No, it is not a roller coaster. You have to also remember the other description I gave that's I was put that in there I was like uh up and forward. I don't know what your arms doing on roller coasters, but I have some questions Well people throw their arms up so I was like oh maybe it's the sensation of like putting your arms up before you That was that was good. That was good. All right. Okay. That was that was a decent guess That was a totally fine guess. I'm not mad about that. I'm gonna I'm gonna spin the wheel for what your next sense is Because I see I was like what if the other parts metallic? I'm going up like a roller coaster than my arm moves up a little bit faster Now I see I see the thought process. All right your next sense is Touch so I'll describe the same two parts that you tasted from the taste one the part that tasted sort of rubbery When you touch that it definitely feels rubbery and it feels kind of like Grimey but not in like a way where you're pulling bits off But kind of just like when you take your hand off you like Okay, and then if you touch the other part that you tasted the taste of metallic and oily you feel some very distinct Groves it definitely feels like something hard could be metal and you feel almost an iconic pattern Of grooves on this part of this thing unmistakable pretty much for anything else in the world You definitely know what this is because you feel this and you're like oh obviously. Oh, man I feel like I've given pretty good bigs here you have I think you are my brain is just not You know how like whenever you you fixate on something and you can't get your brain off of that thing It's really hard to remove myself from like Flight or rollercoaster. So I'm trying to like remove myself from those ideas But like it's all I'm picturing so I'm just trying to think okay different different design If I remove the image from my mind. Oh, there's yeah no image. Well, that's for him I think I can picture things right nice can't you can't describe what I see my help if you close your eyes Maybe you'll start to see something when you combine all this things you're thinking about. Oh, maybe maybe you gave me Whatever pa pop eyes description you gave me the what I think he means proprioception But if you didn't intend this I'm trying to focus on one part that's rubbery not multiple parts that are rubbery So part that's rubbery part that's metallic Distinct ridges and those ridges leave me feeling grimy. How kind of grimy and oily Talk on the clock Yeah, I know just the all combining all of this is more confusing than just focusing on one of them Like no, that doesn't work with the first part. I'm gonna give you I must give you 15 seconds. Oh, no, don't do that. No, now I'm panicking
No, hold on. Stop. I told me this guess of the goddamn you to cycle He made me guess to your credit, Bob. I think you really have given good Can I get a different partner for this project? No People are crashing so many cars right now because this they know what it is already and they're waiting for you to get it Well, I'm not good at this so I'm doing my best. Well, you got two senses left and the next one is going to be smell and no No reminding on any of the other ones. Okay. No reminding no Remindies. I'm gonna describe the smell that you would smell when using this thing you smell Bourbon chicken you smell soft pretzels you smell Candy you smell The body odor of a person standing kind of close to you you smell Maybe cleaning solution while you're using this thing Well, I'm so off base of where I'm at. Okay, made a picture in your mind of all these smells Where do you smell those smells all together? You can do it. I need to set tires because this is only the first one It's been like 15 minutes. I got a yeah. Well listen, it's this is hard. Okay, man. I'm gonna give you 30 seconds to think about that one Okay, well, I'm picturing you're at like a theme park or carnival Bourbon chicken those. Yeah, where do you smell bourbon chicken? That's an interesting one to focus on Well, I was thinking like the turkey legs, but like a bourbon chicken like this. I don't know a lot of cooking a lot of cooking things involved in this 10 seconds No, stop. Hold on. Yes I love those moving grills you ride. I know it's not a grill But I was working my way through I'm not good at the time or the timer fucks me up. Just don't think about the timer. Just let Mark think about the timer You're good. Oh, he said I had to guess. So I just thought the word I was thinking about that moment. I'm working my way through you do got a guess I felt like 30 seconds was a pretty rich amount of time to guess what for me. I need 20 minutes What's the last sense is it hearing? It's yeah, it is sound. It is sound This is your last chance to get a single point out of this. I'm sorry, Bob Sorry, I'm the worst partner ever. When you ride this thing You hear the laughter of children you hear metallic clonking and clanking inside a kind of a slow pace you hear Music and a relatively low volume just sort of in the background of this when you're on this thing You hear the sound of bourbon chicken cooking You know you love that sound. You know that sound you may also hear the ding of an elevator door opening I know you can do it. I believe in you. That was a warning Bob. That was a warning. I know I know I was pushing it, but come on come on Come on you got this piece it together make make your last cogent guess. I believe in you Okay, I'm gonna talk through I'm allowed to talk through the things. He's not allowed to tell me to give I'm allowed to talk through him Right, yeah, well you got you got your time already started by the way, I just hope you know arm Groves familiar grooves smell of bourbon chicken. I'm so sorry if you've guessed now I set that timer when he was done describing. I don't want carousel. Oh, my god I'm so sorry. Oh, do you want to reveal it or do you want to elevate or the elevator? I was trying to throw us in the elevator, man I was trying but I didn't get there. It's the other kind of elevator also called an escalator in a mall Where you might smell bourbon chicken? Literally the only place on earth. I've ever seen such a dish exist. I was lost at the theme park. Oh the proprioception one that's that you know that feeling when you get on the escalator and you're like, oh the hand thing is so much faster than the and you got to keep Okay, I don't know that one as well because I don't ever touch those because I thought it really grossed me out So I never touched the handrails. That is in Krayi Blay. I'm sorry, Bob. You did a really good job in hindsight I just wasn't there. I couldn't bring myself there. Yeah, I thought the proprioception was gonna get it right away It it was almost like oh my god I can't let them do proprioception because that's going to get it immediately because it's so oh hi. I'm one of your contestants So that is zero points for both of you, but it was very entertaining. It was incredibly entertaining Let's hope I'm better at describing than guessing. Yeah, my only comfort is that I'm maybe a Crawlified guesser, but I have to use whatever you tell me to make my guesses So we'll see how this end goes. This might be the first zero to zero episode in the history All right, so this was an educational for me as well I'm actually gonna take proprioception off the menu just because I feel like you know It it throws things off. It's such a nice granularity with the four senses You know that it is it could be powerful could not be powerful And I don't even know if the feeling of going up is part of it But I feel like it could be what who knows? We're just gonna keep it to the four senses besides site. All right What's mine or wait? Don't say that loud. I wasn't gonna My ears. Should I just go home for the set? I am home. Should I just go away for this episode? So we we keep it to the exact sense only that you're describing you can't go back and remind things and Definitely don't base things off of previous You know senses. It's keep it to that sense and that sense only don't mention Associated other things but saw you have to keep your description to the thing that is being described like the elevator That was the examples like the the ding of an elevator I'd be like that's a sound not pertaining to the thing so the sense that you're currently doing has to be to the thing Would you say the smells that I did were okay because that's not how the escalator smells But like that's absolutely what you would smell on a lot of escalators And it's a I would say oh, I guess actually you're right if that is because I was describing stuff that was not the escalator But you don't really smell an escalator. So I wasn't sure how to approach that I think I think if I'm have to be Adherence the rules it has to be smells that are only to the device that because now I think yeah the chicken Okay, that that probably would be outside so it has to be that's why I went to like grill and stuff because I was also like Oh, okay, I'm smelling the things that are cooked on it. It's gonna be difficult Using the senses, but that's part of the point so okay, so the answer to my question then is no I sent you a question I'm sorry to answer that's just no Yeah, that's that's tough question, right? But like I think I think based on your answer It's no because of Bob had this chance in his round to do it. I will only apply the rule of That for this particular thing you asked me to the next one will a step will because we'll keep it so that the the kind of Exploratory advantages that Bob had in this one, I'll give you this old but only this one that you asked all right I'm spinning the wheel of senses your first sense is Smell all right, so sometimes there's the light smell of gasoline but more often than not various Cologne's perfumed the odor and spotty odors kind of permeate and maybe the smell of Maybe leather You can get leather leathery smell from it probably. I'm trying to think of the word for a smell like Musties the wrong word but tangential to musty okay and 30 seconds to guess and go Feel like a lot of these wore down a certain pathway Musty or whatever that's related to throws me off a little bit, but I still yeah, that's fair Is this I can't ask questions. We're still doing things, right? This is a thing. It's still a thing It's still a thing all these are things is is it I don't know if this specific enough is it cologne? No, Cologne's and perfumes were one of the descriptors I used not cologne. All right. That's smell is down next Sound there's a sound of air flowing people chatting murmuring a very loud Humming noise that's pretty constant. I guess the occasional sound of footsteps the main sound the constant is the loud humming Okay, and guessing now This is just not a thing. I feel like it's what I'm stuck on in terms of a guess Wait constant humming 10 seconds is this a train No, it is not a train. I don't want to I don't think I can make commentary on your guess. Nope All right, Nick you're down to two senses the next one is going to be Taste. Oh, man. Based on the question I asked you. I'm almost afraid to give that but if you Taste the Outside of this thing. Oh, man. How do I describe this without giving too much? Um, I don't know if it's metallic I taste metallic and like a bunch of bugs if you taste around the inside of this thing again a lot of taste to leather some glass and I don't know what the taste of glass is but like
like the, something, something. I don't know why you would ever have this and do this with, but if you have like an old toy and you lick an old plastic toy, there's like that sensation of that taste hitting your tongue. There can be good tastes like cookies. I feel like I know what it is, but I feel like it's gonna be wrong. If you think, I feel like that was a lot, I wanna give more, but I feel like that was already a lot, so I'll stop there. - All right, okay, all right, and guess. - The one thing that started me off from this guess is that it occasionally smells like gasoline, 'cause the thing that I wanna guess sort of definitely doesn't do that. And there's another thing that does do that, but then the leather taste doesn't make any sense. - You might have a different experience than I, I mean, if you feel like you know, I wanna say airplane. - Ding, ding, ding, that is it, congratulations. - Oh, God. - So I'm trying to think like not just on, - What airplane have you been all that smells like gas? - Not when you're on, but I was trying to think like, okay, when you're outside, they're filling it with gas, and there is that smell. Like, if you ever boarded a airplane from outside, sometimes you'll smell them fueling it. - I've never noticed that. Maybe I'm just not sensitive to it, but. - I like the smell of gas, so I remember smelling it when they did that. - 'Cause I was thinking the smell of gas made me think plus. - I figured if I got you, once I got you to train, I was like, okay, planes trains on, but we're on the right course. I was gonna be so specific. I was like, oh, like, biscoff cookies is what you taste. That was like, that's too much. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yeah, no, that was really good, guys. That was the easy one. - Oh, good. (laughs) - I thought that was gonna be easy. So, I do think planes easier than escalator to gas. - Possibly. - I don't know. - I'm glad I got to describe that. - That's why I took proprioception. 'Cause like, you're going up and back. You feel yourself of like, ah, you know, maybe. - Proprioception for the, you feel like your body leans back as if under high acceleration as it goes up. I would apply that to touch. So there's certain things proprioception that I'm like, okay, touch might apply to this. However, I'm gonna be more strict about taste of glass. I'm like, ah, that's a little, you know, I, metallic has a specific taste. I can get behind that, but then taste the glass. I don't think glass is much taste. You'd taste the things on the glass. And then cookies, it's not part of the plane. So from here on out. - Yeah, that's why I messaged you about that one specifically. - Yeah, yeah, exactly. So from here on out, it has to be specific to the item in question. - Oh, I'm sorry in advance, Bob. I'm gonna do my best. This is gonna be fine. - Ah, I just have to guess the taste of a Y chromosome. That's it. Y chromosome. - All right, I can't do that one. I don't know. There's no fucking way you'd ever get that. - It tastes like college. It tastes like a college experiment. One that would make the old kings very happy. 'Cause it's a boy. - Bob, I'm giving you yours. And also, I'm gonna keep the description to a minute. So the description has to be in a minute and then guessing has to be in 30 seconds. - We're in trouble, Bob. - Bob, you have yours. I'm spinning the wheel for the first sense. - Oh, right. Okay. - And the first sense is going to be. - Taste. - Oh. - Three, two, one, go. - It has a very faint taste. It tastes vaguely of petroleum chemicals. And that's about it. (laughing) - You do taste this thing on occasion because of the way that it is used, is a thing, but almost never will you taste the taste because it has such a subtle taste, flavor. - All right, we'll call that. All right, and guess three, two, one, go. Plastic Spork. - I'm not saying anything about that answer. - Wait, you want to show up? - Sorry. (laughing) - It's wrong. It's wrong. No, Colin. - Well, I'll start deducting parts. - Okay, okay, okay. All right, I don't have any, so you can't take any. Well, I got one, I guess. - Yeah, all right. And next up is. - Touch. - And go. - Bad touch. Feels. (laughing) Honestly, it feels smooth when you touch it, but in a way that's just, it's bad, it's a bad smooth. It's terrible. It's possibly the worst kind of smooth it could be. Just, you know, just, I would never, go. - God, the only thing I feel that way about styrofoam. - Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding! - That's it with three points. - Oh, but a good description. - Bad touch. (laughing) I was like, oh, plastic apotroleum-y smooth. Styrofoam. - It is good. I think, yeah, I don't know if I'd call it petroleum product taste, but hey, you know, I think it's got a little bit of that, you know? It's got that, yeah. - I guess I don't actually know that. I just assumed it was. - Oh, 'cause you do put like styrofoam cups to your mouth. I was like, when do you put styrofoam in your mouth? Oh, yeah, that, oh. - If you don't mind styrofoam, you start from a lot for eating and drinking. So you do have it in your mouth quite a bit. - It's true, yeah. A lot of takeout containers are styrofoam, so I get that. And yeah, now the clue giver cannot react to the gussars. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, I see, I know what I did there. This says, yes, styrofoam is made from petroleum. It's a synthetic plastic created from liquid hydrocarbon called styrene, which is a byproduct of crude oil and natural gas refining. - It definitely is, yes. - Oh, whether or not you can taste that, yeah. I'll allow it, I'll allow it. - Oh, you definitely taste it. You definitely taste it. - Okay, Wade, I'm sending you yours. - Wait, look, I got a question for you. - Okay, yeah, yeah, what's that? - Yeah, what's up? - Yeah, I know. - Yeah, you cannot. - Okay, great. This one makes sure. - Yeah, so it's your first sense. Your first sense is taste and go. - Oh, man, it tastes pleasant. Oh, God, it's. - Oh, the duck. - Fuck you, Mark, it's mild. It tastes like you want something else to go with it. Like it's insufficient on its own. Taste good. Taste good. God, that's so, like, duh. You know what, Bob, you know what I mean? - All right, I guess that's good there, Bob. - Start guessing. - It tastes pleasant. Taste mild. Taste like you want other flavors to go with it. But it tastes good. Uh-huh. I know what this is. Yeah, I can taste it. Barely. (laughing) I think this is whipped cream. - Ah, damn, nope, sorry, that is not it. All right, okay. - Okay. - Next sense. - Oh, please, give me the sense I want. - No, no, I don't know. What's up to the wheel? It's up to the wheel. - Smell. - And go. (laughing) - Man, what a, what a set to describe it without using describe or words. It smells like such a good mold. - Such a good mold? - I think it smells like, oh God, I think it has a strong scent. I have a really terrible sense of smell, so this is kind of a harder one for me to do. A lot of the smells overlap with the taste, but I think the smell-- - 15 seconds. - I think I was a strong smell. - All right. There's specific reasons why I can't give you a lot of, I wish I could. - All right, and guessing. - Okay, this thing has a very pleasant but mild taste that you want to put other stuff with it, and while it tastes mild, it has a strong smell. - Yeah. - 10 seconds. - Is it some kind of cheese? - What kind? - Well, if it has a strong smell, it must be blue cheese. - Nope, not that, unfortunately. - So you've got touch and sound left. I hope you get sound. - That's not jamming. - Yeah, you got sound. - All right, what does this cheese sound like, Wade? - I think you got a chance. You're thinking you got a chance. - Okay, if you flick it, the sound would not fully resonate. It would dissipate quicker. - I know what it is. - Please God, help me. - Do you have more descriptors or shall I guess? - Oh, if you throw it and it hits the ground, it sounds like cheese. - All right, yes, I know what this is. I know what this is. - Sure, sure, sure. - If you bite into it, it makes the sound of biting into a shell. - Oh, sure, sure. Yeah, I know, I know this. I know what this is. - Go. - It was really the last one about the biting into the cheese that got me there. - Is it free? - Oh, no. - Oh, my God. - Damn it. - Oh, fuck. - Give me the one sense I wanted most. - All right, it's touch, it's touch. - Oh, man, Bob, you feel this thing. And it's a nice square shape. And then as you're feeling the flatter side, you can feel ridges as your fingers go right through it in parts. - Your description was just wrong, though.
Okay, description was backward, it's Swiss cheese. It's Swiss cheese, it's Swiss cheese. Wouldn't the sound go bad? Which description was bad? I wanted to give Swiss cheese because I knew that specifically that had identifiable features to it. You said that it had a mild taste and a strong smell. I don't eat a lot of Swiss. I would describe most Swiss cheese as having a super mild smell, but a really sharp, tangy taste because of the, so I was thinking of like, "Bree" and stuff because that's so mild. When I think of the sharp cheddar to me and some of the other cheeses are crazy, I don't smell cheese as well as other people, so I don't smell Swiss that much. I was also thinking sound where it could be. If you hold it up to your up single, you'll hear like a hollow sound to it. That would have worked. I would have accepted that. I was like, "Just please God, give me touch first." Give me touch first. Oh, man. Yeah. No, I swear to God. I spun the wheel and that was it. How to describe the taste of cheese without using the word cheese was hangy, creamy, nutty, dry. I don't have those descriptors for cheese. I have, it tastes like cheese. What color cheese does it taste like? What you're tasting is something that's not American, but it doesn't taste American at all. It tastes like foreign cheese. It tastes like it would be neutral in a war, Bob. Oh, that would have been such a sick one, though, because you'd be like, "Hi, it's a very neutral taste." Yeah, very mild, very neutral, very pacifist taste. Feels neutral to the touch. Not rich, like man, you would love the bank there. So I got to cheese really fast, just not the correct one. Yeah, yeah. That was, that was my bad for giving like something with a specificity like that, but very well done. That was really funny, because the wheel punished me accordingly. Unfortunately, I don't think we have enough time, because if we did do another, we'd have to do a back and forth, so I don't think we have time for two more. Speed round. No, you guys won't. I know you guys are three rounds and half an hour, that's not great. Four, we did do four rounds. So we did four rounds and half hour, yeah, because Bob went first, then you and then Bob and you. Yeah, so that was four, because it started with escalator, then airplane, then star from this with you. So yeah, we did four. Well done, guys. I'm going to call it there. I actually have to count the points, because I don't know. Wait, you're first. You have that niche reference point. You got Durecho, Noah'sception, that's funny. You got two points for having two senses left on airplane. You got one point for guessing Styrofoam and you got Swiss cheese on the very last one. So it gives you seven points. Bob, 15 foot bridge, I-75 construction. You went first, airplane, you got the guests there, bad touch, very funny. You got three points for Styrofoam and then one point for guessing Swiss cheese. That gives you nine points to Wade's seven. All right. I'm coming off rules. I like this theme of Wade ending episodes being down by two. Oh, not that you should use this now, Bob, but don't you have to do points for your downtime at some point? Oh, I forgot to do that and the one I just hosted didn't matter. It wouldn't have helped you, but- You don't know that. Mathematically, I feel like I do. Wade, you're down two points, so there's still a chance. Hasn't stopped me before except for the times it has come on one spin. Never count me out. We're going to count you out as well. He got he wanted. Come on, golf rules. No chance. We each get one thing we ask for about use the most senses in an episode. We're going to land on that. It's going to be or as we call in this show, a respin spot. I smelled my armpit. I tasted a drink. I watched this and I listened to you guys. I did it. One spin, baby. Give me golf rules or host wins, which I prefer the golf rules. By the way, it's funny. Softest. Oh, this episode. Well, I've not been hard at all. I remember what that means. I gotta be honest. I don't remember or fully understand what exactly that means. No clue. Alright, respin. Okay. Put S-O-T. Wow. We got this last time, putting them going through the most bullshit. I guess what, guys, I still did that. That's true. Yeah. The desk, so. If it was weighed, it still has to be weighed. That's true. In the last 20 minutes, what have you all done to your S-O-T? Alright. One times for S-O, bullshit. Oh, but. Actually, I did more to my S-O between episodes because she got caught outside during the delivery that I forgot to tell her about with the dogs who almost ran into a car. Oopsies. Okay. Well, that's not good. I put her through more, bullshit. Alright. Well, that puts you up one more point weighed, but unfortunately, Bob still has a commanding lead. Well, not very commanding, but commanding enough of one more point nine to eight. Bob takes the episode. Congratulations, Bob. Yeah. Yeah. Take the episode. Yeah. Yeah. That was a fun episode. I know I'm not very good at guessing, but it is fun. It's especially fun to be on the describing side and see where someone's brain is going. The pressure is really all on the guest today. Like, the description is like, I want to make sure I get it right, but all of the pressure I felt like was on my guessing side. But it was very fun. I would love to continue and do more of that. Well, thank you very much. I appreciate it. Bob. I liked all of it, and I liked the balance that Mark installed into the game where the guest could not just steal points by doing it on purpose. I don't think you did it on purpose, but it was very balanced. It felt very fair. I was rewarded heavily for my middle one there or my second one being so, where's my first one? That was my second one being so quick and effective. That one, that one worked out great. It feels good to win. And the next time I'll totally remember to do that bounty thing that I was supposed to have already done. Definitely. Oh, thank you also for participating. That was fun. We worked out a few more of the rules to make it a bit better. I think next time, yeah, I can do specific time for descriptions and specific time for guessing. We can get more structure there, but I think we all got that and I'll get better matchups for future things if we do a sequel. But yeah, that was fun. I mean, it's hard to do perfect, but I thought those were fairly, those were fairly fair, actually. It was just hard. I had, which I might use in the future, I had laser in here and I'm like, 'cause I was like, I wonder if I got to do a really tough one. It doesn't have to be for for sound. Do I have to describe it or can I just make it? You can make it. Yeah, you could definitely make the sounds. But you. But you. But I thank everybody so much for watching it or listening. Hope you enjoyed it. If you were infuriated because you knew what it was. Sorry, I guess, but if you were also like, oh, it's so obviously and then you were guessing the wrong thing. Ha ha. It's not as easy as it looks, right? And maybe, either way, thank you everybody so much at home for listening. Be sure to follow the podcast for more episodes. We have merch occasionally, distractable.shop and you can check out some of the stuff there. If it is there, if it is there, yes, yes. We had a new bumper sticker and then we got restocks of t-shirt affairs and ship of TCS. So thank you. And be sure to follow these guys, minion 777 or Lord minion 777 and my skirm. Type anything that starts with an M and ends in an arm. You'll get there. Except, so Bob will be hosting. So look forward to that. Thank you again. As always. Bye bye. No, that's not right. What do we do? Podcast. Oh. See ya guys.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
Strada is a cloud storage alternative that allows local NAS storage to function as remote, streamable folders, enabling editors to access and edit files in real time without needing a separate computer.
Unlike traditional cloud storage, Strada uses local storage, so users only pay to add more drive space—no hidden costs or escalating prices over time.
Strada works on both Mac and PC, offers automatic file organization, and integrates seamlessly with editing software like DaVinci Resolve, though some command-line tools may be required.
The episode features a fun, interactive game where contestants describe everyday objects using only one of five senses (touch, taste, smell, sound, proprioception), with the goal of having the listener guess the object accurately.
Wade and Bob share personal experiences—Wade recounts a chaotic derecho storm with frequent tornado warnings, while Bob describes the frustration of a damaged, 15-foot bridge reopening after four months of detours.
The hosts discuss broader issues like poor road construction, inefficient infrastructure projects (e.g., LAX people mover), and climate change impacts such as a "super El Nino" leading to more frequent extreme weather.
The episode ends with a playful "respin" round where hosts use senses to describe objects, ultimately concluding with a humorous winner based on point accumulation and gaming fairness.
