She Crossed Over & Saw A Creature During Her Near Death Experience (NDE)
29m 47s
Noel Avinia recounts her near-death experience (NDE) that began with a suicide attempt during a depressive episode at age 27. After taking pills and attempting to drown in a hotel bathtub, she lost consciousness. In fragmented flashes, she saw a demonic creature, described like Gollum from *Lord of the Rings*, crouching in her place, which she interprets as a glimpse of evil vying for her soul. She then felt herself zoom out from Earth, where God imparted knowledge that her personal suffering was a tiny part of a vast cosmic battle between good and evil, yet her pain was not diminished. This experience transformed her from a skeptic of spiritual evil to a firm believer, as she now sees self-destructive acts (e.g., drinking) as creating vulnerabilities to dark forces. Having given her life to Christ months earlier, the NDE deepened her faith and gave her a sense of hope: life’s struggles are part of a bigger, unseen reality with benevolent forces working behind the scenes. She kept the experience private for years to avoid stigma but now shares it to encourage others to hold on, as there is more to existence than what meets the eye.
And now, from beyond our dimension, this is the Jeff Mara Vagas. Here's Jeff. My guest is Noel Avinia, who during her near-death experience witnessed the battle between good and evil. Noel thanks for joining us and welcome. Well thank you for having me. Noel, let's start on the day that you crossed over and go from there. I was actually living in North Carolina at the time. I was traveling to Asheville with my parents. I was, let's see, 15 years ago, so I was in my 20s, maybe like 27. I was traveling to Asheville with my parents for my cousin's wedding. And I don't recall being particularly depressed at the time, but we stopped at one more on the way out of town to grab a few things. And I got some dream, I mean, because I have motion sickness and I was going to be the passenger in this vehicle. We headed down to Asheville. We were staying in a hotel. And I was really struggling after the rehearsal dinner. Just I had struggled with depression my entire life up until that point. I remember some of my first thoughts as a child thinking, just I don't want to be here. You know, what's my alternative? And so those thoughts started very early. And after the rehearsal dinner, I was starting to feel depressed. I was like, gosh, you know, this couple, they're just so happy. And I've just never been happy. I can't relate at all. And I'll never have that. So I was also researching a diagnosis that a mental health diagnosis that I thought maybe I had that I hadn't been diagnosed with. And I was looking at the life expectancy and the likelihood of someone with that diagnosis taking their own lives. And it was not it was a grim prognosis. And I was just thinking, this is the inevitable outcome for me. So I went out to dinner with my dad because they had gone to the wedding. And I stayed in the hotel room because I was just too depressed to go. And my dad and I went out to dinner. And I had a drink that was the last drink that I ever had. And went back to the hotel room, was still feeling really depressed. And at some point, I have no recollection of making the decision of. I have no recollection of making that decision to end my life. And but at some point, I must have. And I took a lot of pills, both over the counter and prescription. And everything from that point on is very choppy. Like I just get flashes of images. One of the images was I had filled up the tub because I thought maybe I can lay down in the tub and drown because I'm going to pass out from all the medications that I've taken and that didn't work. And I have the recollection of like walking through the hotel room and being soaking wet. And from that point, I don't recall anything. The next memory that I have is me in the hotel room on the floor. And I turn and look at the door. And the door opens. And I'm looking at my dad and police officers in the door. And then that flash goes away. And the next image is I'm looking from the perspective of the door into the hotel room. And what I see in the hotel room is a creature of some sort in my place where I'm supposed to be. The creature looks like, do you know, like gollum from Lord of the Rings? This way it looks like he's like crouched on the ground. And that's where I'm supposed to be. And then the next flash is me back in the hotel room standing naked in front of a police officer, a female police officer. From that point, I don't remember anything else on the earthly plane. So from what I was told, I was taken by ambulance to the to the ER. And I was in the ER for quite a while. From my perspective, all of that was gone. And I was I kind of like zoomed out from planet Earth. And I was out above planet Earth. And nothing was said to me. It was all imparted. It was just knowledge that was imparted to me. And it was amazing because I was with God. And without diminishing anything that I had been through because I had been abused and without diminishing anything that I had been through, God was imparting this knowledge to me that this is just this is you. You're just a spec. You're so small. And there's something larger going on here. And it's from the perspective of like zooming out from, okay, here's your house, here's your street, here's your town, here's your state, here's your city, here's the country, here's the world. And there is just this knowledge imparted that there is this battle that is so much bigger than everything that we go through as individuals. It's just such a tiny spec because there's something bigger going on in the bigger picture of this battle between good and evil. And this is just a small, small part of it. But what was amazing to me was the fact that that God could impart this knowledge to me without diminishing anything that had affected me personally. So it was like, you're just this small little part of it. But what you went through doesn't, it means so much to you. But in the bigger picture is a part of something so much bigger that's going on. And looking back, that's the main just of what I experienced. But when I came back the next morning, I woke up and I was like, whoa, something crazy just happened here. And I was so aware of it, so keenly aware of it. But at the same time, you can't go around being like, I just, you would not believe what just happened. I mean, I really feel like, I really feel like from my experience, from my personal experience, I really feel like I got a glimpse of the tug of war that was going on before my soul between good and evil because I feel like I got snatched out of my body long enough to see what was in my place if I were to give myself over.
to that and I got a glimpse of I mean I really do feel like it was a tug of war going on between me. I was I was the rope and there was a tug of war going on between good and evil for me. And looking back on the experience, I feel like there's so much that opens us up to being vulnerable to evil and like just that one drink that I had that night with dinner, I feel like drinking is something that does that. You know, people people don't realize that anything that harms you, anything that is self-destructive is I feel like personally putting holes in your shield, which is making you vulnerable to that because a little context of this whole experience is, you know, I had gone through my whole life experiencing that depression, but this was at the end of July and in March of that year I had given my life to Christ. I had been like, you know, there's got to be a better way because I'm just miserable. This life is just miserable. There's got to be something better than this. So I thought, what do I have to lose, you know? So I made that step and so at the time I thought, well, this means I can drink now, right? Because I have Jesus. So, you know, most people find Jesus and stop drinking. I use this excuse to start back up, but looking back from my experience, I realize all those little self-destructive things that we do put holes in our shield, our spiritual shield that opens us up to something that we don't, we don't realize the magnitude of. I remember just not knowing whether or not I believed in these things before, you know, like, you know, demons, I don't know, that's kind of, that's kind of out there. So I had given my life to Christ and I had before we left on our trip for Asheville, I had gone to prayer at my church. We had a 6 a.m. prayer, I went and prayed and I was just in a state of prayer and I had visions while I was praying and I was like, this is interesting. I wonder what this means. And then I went to my parents' house and stayed denied at their house. Had a weird experience there, their house was definitely haunted. They don't live there anymore, but I don't know specifically the series of events, but something happened in that house and I had just had that prayer session that was like so powerful for me. And then I had this experience and I don't know what took over, but it was something beyond my personal comprehension because, you know, like I said, I had thought, well, I don't know about this stuff. This is kind of out there. And even even when I came out of my experience with so much perspective on the world and my own struggles and the fact that, you know, this stuff is real. People, a lot of people are like me and just, and don't think, you know, they're dabbling in things that they don't realize the magnitude of. And I'm telling you the battle between good and evil is very real. There are things beyond our comprehension that exist. And it really gave me a perspective of anything as possible, you know. I didn't know whether or not I believed in this stuff before. And then I had this experience now. When I had this experience, I didn't go telling people right away because you don't get out of a psych ward and start telling people that you've seen demons and you were possessed and and all that stuff because that doesn't sound very credible. So I told one person and that was that was a friend of mine who had gotten me to go to church in the first place because her brother had taken his own life. And my parents met her parents and they told her parents about my struggles. So they were the ones who invited me to church. So when I got out of the hospital, after my experience, she was the only one I told because I wanted to let her know, you know, this stuff is real. It's a lot more real than I realized it was. And for years, I didn't even tell my own family because I wanted to wait until I was in a stable enough place to be like, yeah, I had a near death experience. I saw a demon. And then I was like at that point, maybe I could be taking a little more seriously. But when I first got out of the hospital, I knew it wasn't something I should go talking about right away. The first thing I did when I woke up the next morning was write a prayer to God. I looked for it before we got on here to see if I could find out. I'm not sure where I put it. I used to save copies in my Bible, but that I wrote that prayer because I was just like, okay, this is real. This is no joke. So that's my experience. I didn't I don't think I really realized I had a near death experience until I read a memoir. He's a neurologist who wrote a memoir about, I think his name's Moody. Raymond Moody wrote the first book about Indie's and then there's Evan Alexander, who's theologist. Maybe it was Evan Alexander. Yeah. He had started an organization, I believe, for people who've experienced Indies. And there was a checklist. If these were a part of your experience, you had an NDE. So I didn't realize I thought you had to like see a tunnel and go through that, maybe have a live review and all that stuff. I didn't realize like the fact that you if you see a otherworldly being that that counts as one of the indicators of having a near death experience because I'm interpreting what I saw as a demon. Now I expected, you know, if you if you have a near death experience, you see like maybe angels or loved ones or something. But that's what I saw. And I was like, oh, hey, maybe I had a near death experience. So and then you know, the knowledge that was imparted to me and everything. I know that's part of it too. No, well, thank you for sharing your experience with us. If we go back to the to the part where you were looking into the hotel room from that perspective and you saw the creature on the ground. Are you saying the creature was you or was there a creature next to your body? The creature was me. The creature was in my place. So instead of me standing there, the creature was standing there or crouching there. What does that mean to you? I think I really feel like it was it was just a glimpse of the fact that I could I don't know how to put this be replaced. I don't know if that's the way I want to put it.
Just a glimpse at the fact that something else was in control. It wasn't me in the driver's seat. And the fact that I had done so many things in my life that had made me vulnerable, that had opened me up to that creature taking over. And I feel like there is the possibility of giving yourself fully over to that. But for my experience, I was given a glimpse into the fact that that was possible. That's what I mean by the tug of war. It's like God allowed for a moment for me to see that if I allow it to happen, that can take over completely and take my place. And now I know some people like fully go into their afterlife and their near-death experiences. I wasn't shown that what happens if I give myself over completely to that. But I think it was just a glimpse of the fact that this is what is vying for your soul. And you have a choice to make here. Do you recall what the creature was doing? No, it was just crouched down very much like Gollum from Lord of the Rings. I mean, the image is so clear to me. Later during your experience, you were looking at the earth, right, from a viewpoint from space. Yes. Did you see any elements of angels fighting demons or was there anything else that you saw that looked like a battle between good and evil? I don't think it was an explicit image of that. It was just like knowledge imparted to me. That's the best way I can think to describe it because it was like, it was just like an understanding that was given to me while we were zooming out on the big picture, like with the understanding that even though I was just to spec, it didn't diminish anything I had been through. Was it like a download that came to you like the earth is a place or a battlefield of good versus evil? Yes. Was it revealed to you why? No. You know, and this is these are some of the points that I started to write my book about it. I was like, there are certain things that, especially with my beliefs as they are today, I was like, I don't know how to write this because in my belief today is that there is good and evil, but at the end of the day we are all one. So it's hard to explain the two together. You already became religious right before this happened, right? That's when you went to church or went back to church. Did your religious beliefs change in any way after the NDE? Well, I definitely didn't necessarily believe in good and evil. I mean demons, I was like, that's far fetched. You know, that's just kind of out there, but I don't know how else to explain what I saw in that room. I was like, there was a creature and if you ask me what a demon looked like, I'd probably say something like that. So, yeah, I think it made me believe, it made me believe in the things that before I had thought were too far out there to consider. I mean, you know, I know a lot of Christians believe in evil and demons and stuff like that, but at the time I was like, I don't know, I had just given my life to Christ as a last dish effort to try to figure out some better way of living because what I was doing was not working for me, it had never worked for me. And some, some I believe said the time were very vague. I was like, and it made me more, even now with how I believe now, you know, at the end of the day, we're all one spiritually. And God, we are all one with God, which means good and evil, we are all one. Even though I believe that, you know, I had this experience and that said the battle is going on and I can't argue with the experience that I had because it was so real to me that and I have no other way to explain it. So you know, prior to having this experience, I would watch exorcism movies or demon movies and after the experience, I was like, no, I can't watch that stuff. It's too real to me now, like I, I'm not too much, I don't want to open the door to that. And ever since then, anything self-destructive, I don't want to open the door to that because I see how that can make you vulnerable and I don't want to go back there. Can you recall what you were feeling when you witnessed the demon? No, not really. I just, it's, because it's all just like flashes. So it's just a flash of, for some in the room and then I'm in the doorway and looking in and just like, you know, that's not me. What is that? What am I doing over here? Did you see any elements of God or Jesus during your experience? So I didn't see God, but God was with me right here. I felt God and God was the one imparting the knowledge to me. So I just had this awareness that God was with me and telling me all this information. Showing me this perspective that I haven't seen before. After watching this podcast, people may want to reach out to you and ask you questions. Are you open to that? And if so, how can they contact you? Yes, I'm open to it. I think probably the easiest way to contact me is on Facebook. No, well, before we finish up, can you leave us with a last positive message? I'll give up. I think there's, we have such a limited vision of our lives and what is going on and there's so much more to it than we see. From our human perspective, things can look quite dismal at times, but there's more work and more play than we realize. And there's more reasons to live and to hold on for because there are, you know, those forces that are working for us behind the scenes that we aren't aware of on a day-to-day basis. And if we keep an eye out for things, maybe we'll start to see those little signs here and there that this isn't, this isn't it, this isn't all there is. Noelle, thank you for your message and thank you for being my guest. You're welcome. Thank you for having me.
