Sex and the City S2E2: “The Awful Truth” with Jamie Lee
1h 7m 52s
Sex and the City: The Awful Truth examines the complexities of honesty, intimacy, and emotional vulnerability in relationships. The episode centers on four women navigating personal and relational truths: Miranda struggles with explicit intimacy and relies on legal precision to maintain control; Carrie faces a toxic marriage where her birthday party with Mr. Big is a painful mix of manipulation and awkwardness; Samantha breaks up with a partner over a small penis, highlighting body shame and emotional avoidance; and Charlotte’s chaotic life with her unpredictable dog, Henry, underscores the emotional toll of domestic instability. The show’s humor is grounded in specificity—like the "cashmere" pun or the dog’s disruptive presence—adding authenticity and relatability. The episode critiques toxic masculinity, particularly through Mr. Big’s verbal abuse, while maintaining a comedic tone that avoids outright judgment. Susan Sharon emerges as a grounded, emotionally resilient character who provides balance. The narrative reflects 1990s gender norms, where emotional suppression was common, and contrasts them with modern expectations of openness. Ultimately, the episode highlights how women navigate truth-telling in relationships—often through subtle, unspoken gestures or dramatic confrontations—showcasing the show’s enduring ability to blend humor with emotional depth. The underlying message is one of authenticity: real connection requires vulnerability, and sometimes, the most powerful moment is when a character finally speaks the truth, even if it’s uncomfortable.
Ugh, I hate Mondays.

Mmm.
King's Hawaiian Cinnamon Bites.
There's nothing like it.
The dirty talk they wrote for Charlotte was so interesting.
Yeah, yeah, like that.
Yeah, fuck her, come on.
I was like, fuck her?
She says fuck her.
Like, she's kind of like, mad.

Oh, my God.
Guys, freak the fuck out right now for Jamie Lee.
Oh, my God.
Thank God you're here.
I'm so happy to be here.
I was already telling you this.
But you on Crashing, it's one of the most remarkable performances, truly.
That is so nice.
Put Pete Holmes down.
Pete Holmes, a shame.
You're in Crashing?
Yes.
I play Ali Reeson, his girlfriend.
She comes in season two.
Got it.
Okay.
I've seen like season one, three.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I'm not.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ark and bull seasons.
Come on, please.
That's really nice.
Thank you.
You gave me a really good compliment.
You were like you were able to be like kind of like biting and mean at times, but still
likable, which I think is a nice compliment because I feel like it's hard.
For women to achieve that on TV.
I think you really and you are so encompassing of it and to also watch your character chill
the hell out too.
She needed to.
And she does it.
She gets an amazing ex-boyfriend not to ruin anything.
And she gets to go to New Jersey to do stand up.
Yes.
Every girl's dream.
Yes.
The Comedy Apartment.
Wait, I want to watch this.
Honestly, it's such an amazing show.
I want it to be on Netflix because I'm like, I feel like it's one of those shows that,
you know, a couple of people saw it.
But I'm like, I would like for more people to see it because it still holds up.
There's a lot of shows that don't.
And I'm like crashing still.
Like, I think it puts people in a good mood and stuff.
So it's honestly people that are a fan of girls.
Something that is.
Yeah, exactly.
Something like bio fiction, auto fiction as TV show, like even like a flea bag of sorts.
It's a little bit more between like high maintenance and a flea bag.
Right.
So it really it fits that narrative so well.
It's that tone and it's Judd Apatow.
So like, yeah, so funny.
The show he had done before.
Oh, maybe it was.
It was Love and then our show.
I don't remember his timeline.
He was.
I think they actually kind of over and overlapped.
I remember.
On Netflix in 20.
Love was 2016.
Okay.
It had three seasons.
Okay.
And then.
Yes.
And then crashing started in 20.
It ended in 2020.
Yeah.
Sounds right.
2019.
I don't remember.
Maybe so.
21.
You know, it was a really hard couple of years there.
Faces come out, came out the same year of his third season.
That's and then that was 2021.
Okay.
I think.
Okay.
Well, that was that.
You throw it at her.
It's really sad that I don't remember what years it was that I was working on that show
because it was three full seasons.
But I remember Lena Dunham coming into our offices when we were writing and I was like,
yeah.
Oh, my God.
She was just like so sweet and like just popped in because Judd, his office, he has like a
building in Santa Monica and there's a giant right when you walk in, there's no lobby or
anything.
It's like right.
When you walk.
In.
It's just like conference room.
And it's like a huge table.
And that's where everybody writes is this conference room on the ground floor.
So like anyone like delivering a package or like we had so many interactions with whoever
was coming through the.
Address again.
Sorry.
You're like I have something.
I have a Easter basket to bring.
Belated.
But yeah.
So she just like came in and I was like, oh, she's right there.
Oh, my God.
Yeah.
She was really sweet.
Well, no.
And it's also as.
We both do stand up and I don't think there's a better piece of media that encompasses the
story of a contemporary stand up where you.
I mean, we're both all comedians and I know your character, Ali.
She's doing.
She does alt and she does traditional.
Yes.
In the West Village.
But it's fun to see how well encompassed the trajectory of a stand up comedian is, especially
like pre-COVID, which I mean, we've kind of lost that whole crowd.
I know.
That's a different story.
Yes.
But it really does is because it's so specific.
Like, girls just keep plugging it.
It really it does have this like such a level of nuance that you don't get in so many programs.
Oh, it's beautiful.
I'm so glad you feel that way.
I also think that's really nice to hear because I think there are definitely comedians when
they watch a thing that they live.
They're like, this is so close to home that I can only find fault in it, right?
This isn't how I feel like these little like whatever miniature moments, you know, you
can just start to, like, pick it apart.
You're like, I live it.
Every day.
I remember when Mike Birbiglia's movie.
What was the movie?
Don't Think Twice.
Thank you.
Don't Think Twice ruined everyone's life.
I just remember.
She did think twice, though.
Did you see that?
But I remember when that came out, some people were like, this is exactly what it's like
to be in this realm of like UCB and auditioning for SNL.
And there are other people who are like, I don't know.
I can't.
It's hard to watch.
And so it's nice when you say that you enjoyed crashing.
Considering.
I loved it.
Honestly, I just watched.
Is this thing on Laura Dern?
And yes.
My God.
I, of course, had the same a million times before.
We'll earn it.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, that's another.
I mean, he's, of course, a 50 year old entering the comedy, which is fairly similar, honestly,
to crash it.
I know.
I kind of thought that when I was watching it, I was like, this isn't not crashing.
It's about a divorce if it helps.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
Which I guess his is kind of mostly about it.
Oh, well, it is.
I know.
I know.
When I watched it.
I was like.
Oh, you're saying.
Well, that's actually the perfect segue into this episode.
I love this episode.
Me too.
The awful truth.
So quick summary for the listeners at home.
Three of the girls wrestle with the delicate question of what to tell or discreetly leave
unmentioned with loved ones.
For Miranda, this means overcoming her aversion to explicit encouragement and dirty talk in
bed.
Carrie's blabbermouth causes a friend a divorce, and then she invites Mr. Big to her own birthday
party.
Oh man.
What a mess.
That's like great because we didn't know.
We don't learn one damn thing about the characters.
I know.
I know.
It's a good summary.
Does that help you guys at home?
Yeah, well, basically.
Miranda's Miranda's sleeping with a guy who wants to mostly talk in bed.
Yes.
Charlotte's got a dog that is a Jack Russell terrorist.
I'll just say that.
Samantha is breaking up with her tiny penis boyfriend.
Yeah, it's time.
And Carrie's doing her own thing.
He's always here.
No, it's crazy.
Being friends with Sharon, Sharon, Sharon, Sharon, Sharon, Sharon, Sharon, Sharon.
Her to Susan Sharon, Susan, Sharon came in hot like the opening scene of this.
I was like, oh, we're in for a fun one, y'all.
Yeah.
And also it's her birthday.
It's her birthday.
Oh, right, right, right.
Happy birthday, Susan.
Oh, my God.
I felt stressed.
I've seen this episode so many times.
I felt stressed watching Susan Sharon give a gift to Carrie.
Someone buying clothing for Carrie and like attempting to understand Carrie's style.
I almost could feel Carrie being like, oh, it's beautiful, but like not fully feeling that way.
Even though it was like objectively like a nice piece of cashmere.
I still was like her style to me is so nuanced.
That like how, not how dare you try to shop for me, but like LOL you tried to shop for me.
It is so funny that Carrie is like, this is lovely.
I'm broke.
Can I actually just take $900?
Like if somebody is buying her something, she's like, well, to be honest, I got to go get rid of it.
Right.
I'm not going to wear this and I need the cash.
So I'll just return it.
Susan Karen is one of those side characters that makes a show.
Susan Sharon.
We got to lock her name in.
And her too.
Yeah.
Yeah, she's great also.
Susan Sharon.
Oh, and I love the reading when she like walks out.
She's like, oh, I got this at Barney's.
Guess how much it is at a Barney's?
900.
Italy.
Free.
Basically.
And then Carrie goes, oh my God, it's a cash miracle.
I know all the puns.
Yeah.
Cash miracle.
You need the cashmere.
Wasn't there one like that where it's like she took.
Oh, can I return it?
Yeah.
And she goes, yes, please.
Why do you think they call it cashmere?
Yeah.
It's like they really milked it.
They really took that word apart.
It is amazing how earnest they are able to
to deliver the puns in this show.
I believe them every time.
Like, Samantha, exactly.
Yes.
Yeah.
They really do, like, integrate it so seamlessly.
It's very impressive.
Yeah.
If I were given that, I'd be like, I got to, like, hit this.
But they really are just like, it's just part of the way we talk.
They're not winking at all.
No, there's no wink.
Well, yeah, you can never book a comedian on this show.
I know.
So true.
Like, it has to be a really earnest woman, like SJP.
Yes.
Who takes it seriously.
You need a serious actress.
Me too.
I was really loving Carrie, the character, in this episode.
I was like, she is such a fun friend.
She is fun.
She's, like, listening to Sharon while she's, like, going crazy at the candy store.
And then she's like, Miranda's like, I would never speak.
And she's like, oh, tell me everything, girl.
I'm like, you are such a great listener.
She is a fun friend, but I think, like, Susan can carry herself in any situation.
She doesn't need someone else to have fun, but it's nice to be there because she can at least talk.
Totally.
Right.
That's what I like about her.
Now, what's the husband's name?
He scared me to death.
He's so scary.
The Tony.
The tone in which he yelled, like, set me into fight or flight.
100%.
And also that he's comfortable doing it in front of her friends.
I was like, yeah, like, whatever.
I definitely was, like, in a relationship with someone who was, like, verbally not kind,
but would always turn it off in front of other people.
Okay.
So the fact that this guy is, like, going full throttle, doesn't care who sees it.
You're like, whoa.
He really has problems.
To me, they're giving, like, the older version of Hannah and Adam.
Oh.
Oh, my God.
Like, right.
But shorter.
Years down the line.
It's actually more like Jess and Adam when they fight and he throws the, like, bike off
the wall or whatever.
Yeah.
It's Adam never encountered, like, human growth hormone.
Yeah.
And had early sex all day.
What does he say?
I'm on London time.
Yeah.
The way he barks at him, I'm like, oh, my God.
The fact that she's even, like, considered, like, it almost felt like she hadn't considered
leaving him until that moment or something.
And I was like, that's all I would think about if I was married to this man.
A hundred percent.
It's like, how do I?
I was surprised the conversation wasn't like, it's time I go, right?
Like, this is untenable.
She's like, huh.
I don't have to do this.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was.
Yeah.
I was like, oh, God.
Yeah.
Listen, I'll tell you, it's hard.
I've had that thought about this podcast so many times, but I'm still here.
You know?
Keep showing off.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.
Okay.
I'll tell you.
And I love when they're fighting.
When he goes, you know I'm on London time.
He walks into the room and then, and she goes, well, it's Carrie's birthday.
It's okay.
She's got it.
I came over.
I thought that special day.
She goes, 9 p.m.
You know, I need to be in bed by 9 p.m.
I'm on London time.
And then they start going, you shut up.
You shut up.
And he's so short.
He's like, get on his tippy toes.
Like, get her in the eyes.
It's so beautiful.
It's like, that's the real art of this show.
I know.
It's a little, specificity is so important and we often overlook it.
It's really true.
Also, like, yeah, I, I think that if that episode, I mean, it's hard to make this claim.
Do it.
But like, if that episode were written now.
No.
Like, we would be like, oh, this is an abusive relationship and it would really be hard to
find the funny in it.
And I felt like they weren't making light of this guy being an asshole while still keeping
it light enough to be a comedy.
Yeah.
Like, that's a hard tone.
It's a hard tone.
Yeah.
We'd be like, we'll kill him.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You'd be like, let's get him.
And then they're like, discussing it at brunch.
Like, yeah, I don't know.
Like, maybe he should.
I don't know.
And you're like, it's terror.
He's terrifying.
He's terrifying.
terrifying her but it is crazy when the four girls go to lunch and like carrie is like i just
suggested maybe she shouldn't stay married to a guy that verbally assaults her every minute of the
day and the girls are like you are not allowed to say that you're being fucking nuts i know it's a
carried stop and you're like no like she probably feels an obligation it's her friend who's living
with that monster yeah but again this is like the perception now and then when you watch it you're
like they did a really good job of making light of that like the dog brings them together i did
not i actually had forgotten that moment that like they actually started to get bad but then henry
that henry ends up being the thing that solves her marriage i'm like well for how long right for
literally 48 hours this was a cute little button for the episode but it was it was a it was a sweet
tag and you're like but they're still like we gotta solve this what happens yeah they need to
go to that shrink well i i will say to oh yeah they need to go to the shrink as a jewish like
Jewish
my parents talk i'll be honest i they really go in this hard yeah i come from a very fighty family
and there's definitely notes of that that i grew up with for sure oh yeah yeah yeah um but i think
i don't know just like her being married to you see my mom tried to park in front of my dad before
you know it's like that's how that's how i will say i have seen evan's parents do this quite a bit
yes the loot in front of anyone it's fun to watch
they do like deeply love each other but it's like but that it's not i wouldn't say it's so terrible
because they're both empowered that's the thing that's this was this dynamic was it felt like she
was losing but tracy owns it yeah there we go that's in a way it's like they're both losers
my favorite thing about evan's parents is they'll be fighting with each other and then both of them
will individually like turn and look at me and be like they're being crazy right yeah they need a
third party i'm the normal one they're nuts right and i'm like yes
it's really and then 10 seconds later it's like nothing happened that's nice though like i don't
know i my grandparents used to like bicker a lot and i really thought they had like the sweetest
relationship i'd ever seen like the bickering i was like very endeared to yeah again not susan
sharon not endearing not endearing but yeah no i i always wonder because i'm not that big of a
fighter in the way that they are but i'm also i have not been in a relationship for 35 years
it's a long time it's a long time back in the 80s you just get tired
yeah i know sometimes you just need you need fighting is like how you get your energy up or
something totally it's just kind of like wakes you up i think carrie even said that she was like
let me find it well it's also because they like they all i think part of it i i always reckon
with this is my parents work so like from graduating high school they just were always
like working hard in college or right after and they never had time to like even settle in
themselves for a second or even take note of who they are and because of that they didn't have any
time to reflect on how they're processing their emotions and it's like well now you're 60 so let's
maybe take some time yeah right let's take some my mom has some time so i'm like come on girl please
a little okay carrie is like was the fighting merely foreplay after she said leave your husband
and then she's like or maybe that's just a thing and i'm like okay carrie whatever you need but
the crux of this episode is really about like telling the truth in relationships what you can
and can't say and i do think that it is like very
much of the 1990s in energy because now everybody's more honest and open with their emotions but back
then like the way samantha's like you never bring that up or like you would never tell somebody this
and it's like i think now like we would right i mean i think that's like the underlying thing in
this whole episode with like even the way it's like big sent her flowers and the mixed messages
of like her being like i hope he comes oh he's gonna bring his friend oh wait it's actually a
guy who's the friend like just the fact that she's so uncertain all of the time and she's
kind of putting up with that i feel like we like now have a conversation around like that is bad
that like i don't think they use the word toxic back there i don't think toxic was we didn't have
toxic we didn't have toxic it was merely it was invented yeah yeah yeah it was invented later big
yeah exactly yeah what is big say the no best wishes on your birthday big i'd kill myself best
wishes best wishes on your birthday that's what i would say to somebody i hate yeah it's so mean
and also it's like the thing of like oh he's acknowledging my birthday but then he said
best wishes you're like those cancel each other out like whatever wishes like whatever you wanted
me to feel like joy wise on my birthday you just negated it by saying best wishes her being like
cool cool cool no thank you so much and if you want to come to my birthday party and bring your
girlfriend no worries at all it's brutal the cynic i think the cynic even in all of us is like well
big knew exactly what he's doing he's trying to torment carrie from the beginning and that's
why he sent her to flowers but sometimes you have to approach big with just so much earnestness
and it's like maybe he's just autistic i know i feel like that we didn't really ever explore that
because he has a lot of a lot of his qualities are like you wonder how insidious they really
are it's because he does seem very clueless like weaponized cluelessness weaponized cluelessness
i am not excusing him i just am like yeah there are some moments where you're like i don't know
that he but that's also the worst thing is yeah he just he should learn yeah i'm like you gotta
learn yeah you have to learn you have to learn how to like treat people better like even if it's not
coming from a bad place i don't know she's always going through warfare well all of them well let's
hop over to samantha so she's been oh yeah looking them in the eyes yeah so she's been dating little
dick guy but he was really nice but we were just watching the ball game episode yeah and she was
like i can't do it anymore i hate my life and then in this she's just like not having sex with him
because she doesn't want to and then he's like we need to get a couple's counselor and then she's
just sitting there like i can't say it i can't say it i can't say it fine i'll say it and then
the relationship immediately ends they love that though in this show yes i'm also surprised it was
it was surprising to see samantha like string someone along totally i feel like that that is
i mean her character definitely if she possessed any of that in the earlier seasons she was it was
gone by the end and then she's like i can't do it anymore i hate my life and then in this she's like
i was really surprised to not have her just be like it's not working yeah you know what i mean
like i was waiting for i was interesting that that was the choice that she
kind of is just like i can't break up with this guy it feels very not her it feels like charlotte
but then it feels charlotte but then it's like oh when she's like i never want to see this shrink
again fuck it that's like we're back to our girl yes that's true that's true this show this episode
is two amazing examples of sexist always you need to be yourself authenticity over everything you
are a woman and a 20th century girl rise up right and then 20 seconds later it's like you you said
like and i put a finger up your butt it's like relationship over and it's like there really is
like a kill word like it is there's always especially with miranda's hookups there's
always one sentence and then they never speak again and we never hear from them again no they're
done they are absolutely done what's that the nuclear football is where to keep all the codes
for the nukes in the u.s government um so have you whoever
is like the president has it and and he can only unlock it and it's like that one specific
phrase or past right right okay can destroy the whole world what's it a nuclear why is it called
a football yeah i didn't know the football part yeah and like that's kind of the term and i it's
like i'm good and that's kind of no clarity on our end no worry we'll live in the we'll live
and it's that because it is that
let's cut to our first break and when we get back we're gonna talk a dirty talk

better with these new soft and swirly king's hawaiian cinnamon bites taylor hansen nice try one
king's hawaiian cinnamon bites there's nothing like it
and we're back from the break what is everybody's relationship to dirty talk
um i'm definitely like i feel very connected to miranda in this episode because i've always been
more like sex is like where i go to shut off my brain totally not that it can't be like sprinkled
in but i felt watching this it was like he just likes to monologue no he doesn't he he can't
handle the silence yeah of any kind to the point where he's like i don't know what to do with this
or i was like i don't even know that he knows what he's saying he's just like i have to say
something it felt very like uncomfortable he's writing with any quiet while doing it yeah i'm
like girl you're doing it you don't have to say the words yes like he's like oh your nipple it's
like she knows like that was the thing i was like some of this isn't even dirty this is just talk
like you can't stop with the talk i would love to see susan sharon and him in turn
she's a talker girl the two of them he would yeah he would he would i think they would really
do well together yeah please who needs that jack russell terrier bring her and yeah bring him into
the relationship come on bring him in the fold yeah exactly it is it is so funny when they're
at lunch talking about it miranda's like i just really don't like this and charlotte comes out
with the line she's like um yeah you tell him to keep going go hard fuck yeah and it's like she
like peeps it out and it's like duh and everybody's like but her dirty talk the the dirty talk they
wrote for charlotte was so interesting because it was like oh my god i think it was like it was like
you know you just go like yeah yeah like that yeah fucker come on i was like fucker like she's
kind of like mad like annoyed slash mad and she's like obviously that's not how i feel but they love
the stuff yeah fucker come on i'm like wait what that's the craziest dirty talk it is annoying to
me that everybody is like well obviously you need to rise to the occasion i know i didn't like that
like okay maybe she could talk a little bit but i think she's allowed to be
wanting silence a hundred percent it's just and also again it's like the issue here i think what
they're they're not they're just kind of being like they're kind of talking generally about
dirty talk but like this guy also doesn't shut the fuck up and that to me is the larger issue
i actually don't think miranda has that i don't think she's that like has difficulty expressing
herself yeah like like she can't find the words like she can do it it's just like she doesn't
need it the way this guy needs it like it's
a crutch for him and you know the quick she uses in this situation goes oh sex no time for chat
am i overly articulate exceedingly verbal life or it's perfectly appropriate it is not preferable
but it's preferable to shut up god damn she really is a lawyer she is a law i had to say i go
she's fucking lawyer in that moment i go it's proven in that moment not that i ever doubted
it before but it is solidified in that moment so good yeah i love the way lawyers talk she also
said it like that
is such a mouthful and it's just such a testament to how great of an actor she is because i did not
feel like that was too written when i heard her say it but if you saw that on the page you'd be
like we should probably take out like 10 of these words some of miranda's lines i'm like cynthia
you are the greatest actor of her time believable well there's no profession i find that especially
for court attorneys that you can so singularly understand if someone's gonna do a job or not by
talking to them because law is so like so based and like i don't know i don't know i don't know
how even like you navigate an argument or even just like subtle moments interactions or command
energy yes and it's so easy with a lawyer to tell how like how like super successful they are in
their career just by simple dialogue i always i always love that and that's why miranda's so good
because you see these specific moments and she's always taking opposition yeah she's a lawyer and
she wants to fight it's just her nature yeah love her and she has salient points she yeah yeah i
step with her not all the time but i do find myself connecting with her a lot when i watch
words have power mama yeah yeah yeah words have power mama
and you can quote that um okay what else happens in the episode so they go to the shrink there's
a lot that happens in this episode well yeah okay so we're saying with samantha right here so yes
we're she has this interaction where first they're in the bedroom and he's like we you have a he's
like you're not connecting with me anymore and direct a camera without even looking to
him she was okay yeah we can go to couples i also can i just say a sidebar like the way she was with
him was kind of uncomfortable to watch like when she's like of course not you and so she got very
like vaguely british like no and i was like whoa i was like who's that yeah it is like we i feel
like the hbo is like we're gonna let you think that this is the way samantha is for this amount
of time and we're like we don't believe you no and then she kind of fully drops it that was the
only time i think for the whole series that i've heard her kind of go into this like very sort of
like willowy tone with the lover i was like that like that was really hard to watch that was that
was that was tough i do love the voiceover though where she's like the simple days of emotionally
unavailability and one night stands like she's like longing for like when people weren't checking
in on their emotions she would hate 2026 she really would hate 2026
it'd be hard for her i'm like who's checking in on their emotions in 2026 a lot of people
and hey a lot of people aren't i'll tell you i'm like better help has taken over the world
yeah but that's ai mama you know i know it's not proficiency it's just like there's quantity
versus quality now do you think samantha would be in therapy now no i think she'd be like taylor
swift where she's like i'm just never gonna do that and it's like work yeah i mean those are
i'm like if you think that dog is an emotional terrorist some of these therapists are too
that's true they will come for you yeah and they will leave you worse than you came in
yeah they'd love to be doing that i mean even this therapist in the scene so they finally go
to the couple's therapy they're arguing for an hour where samantha is being avoidant and then
at the end the thought of her going back to therapy is so trifling she has to release her
inner truth which is you have a small penis and then he walks out the door kind of like
and then the therapist goes and she goes i just couldn't do it
tiny dick and she goes don't i know it right it's almost like she lights a cigarette no she goes
I remember she goes, oh, please.
I hear that.
I hear that.
And the way she said it, I was like, because it was kind of this like earth mothery therapist woman.
And for her to be like, I hear that.
I was like not expecting that to be the way she delivered that line.
And it really pleased me.
It's so funny.
It's also so funny that he's like, Samantha, please just tell me like what you're thinking, what you're thinking, what you're thinking.
And then Samantha does.
And he immediately gets so defensive and he's like, well, maybe you have a big vagina.
I was like, no.
And it's like, OK.
All right.
I do love how so many plot points in his show are almost like there's so many things they talk about in Sex City.
And it's like they just like take every episode.
There's like three dice and he gets to roll it.
Yes.
Weave it in.
Weave them together.
Yeah.
This is slightly different because we have been we've done this therapist.
I think this is our third time now or at least second time in 13 episodes.
I'm like, that's a lot of therapy.
Oh, I didn't know that.
Because Miranda goes to the therapist when she thinks everyone thinks she's a lesbian.
Oh, I didn't know she went to a therapist.
I forgot that part.
And then she like goes to like a Craigslist thing for a threesome.
And then they're like, oh, thank God.
And then she doesn't actually hook up with them.
She's just like, oh, but it worked.
And then her therapy journey is over.
Which I love.
Which I love.
Every therapist should be like, honestly, you only need a therapist once half the time.
Good.
Let's spread that.
And Better Help is next, our ad.
Oh, great.
Do we want to talk about Charlotte's dog?
OK.
Wait.
Do you guys have any more to talk about Tiny Penis?
I feel like.
Is that a deal breaker for you, Tiny Penis?
And it's OK not to answer.
Tiny Penis, it's like, I don't, that's not a part of my culture.
I feel like that it's interesting.
I actually haven't been in that.
Well, that's not true.
I did.
I dated a guy with a micro penis and very briefly.
And I tried to do stand up about it.
And I always felt.
I always felt fucked up about it because I was like, there's no, I'm trying to not body
shame, but then there were certain things that like we actually could not physically
do.
Right.
And I was like trying to like, this was years ago that I even attempted to talk about it,
but it's just like never, I could never do it in good faith because I was like, I'm just
fully making, at the end of the day, I'm fully making fun of this person and it feels bad.
You're confusing your life for a storyline on crashing again.
You're always doing this.
It keeps happening.
But I remember being like, I like, I was like, the jokes are funny, but like, it's at the
expense of this person.
And it just felt, it felt bad.
It felt really bad.
Yeah.
It is body.
It is like, it's kind of a punchdown.
It is.
Well, this is how people are like, you need to talk about your family.
And then every time I do, I'm like, but that's my mom.
Yeah.
It's tough.
Yeah.
Well, that's a whole, I feel like, yeah, stand up where it's like, you're supposed to talk
about your life.
And then it's like, but your life is populated by people.
They're the ones that you're like having experiences with.
And then it's like, yeah, but if you talk about them.
Then it becomes something else when you're like, but I need to talk about that was tough.
And then you just end up like bullying yourself on stage for an hour.
Yeah.
No.
And also thank God there's men with like normal penises.
So we all can get an hour out of that.
And Nikki Glaser can have a career.
It's like, we're going to be so thankful.
That's so true.
It's beautiful.
Honestly.
And he puts it all together.
Yeah.
I, it's fun to see Samantha be like in a therapeutic setting because she's, it's, she leaves such
a departure from her life.
From her own like baseline.
And I guess the premise of season two is, or even season one, I'm like the, the day, like
we want to see how far we can take these characters while they're still being believable and the
emotional, like 10, 10, what's it called?
Tether.
Then they all have to who they really are.
I mean, it still stays strong.
And I think that's my favorite part of this whole show.
Yeah.
That's really nice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's, it's all I feel.
And that's, that's my one emotion.
2026.
What's the deal with Charlotte and the dog?
Like her love life wasn't even going that bad.
That's what I, yeah.
This storyline confused me on, on a, in a couple of ways.
Yeah.
I do love that they're being so funny.
Like, of course, Darren stars like, and so she takes her hair out and like opens the
door and then it's a puppy.
You guys.
Right.
She's dating a dog.
Um, yeah.
And then I, this was the one time I felt like they wrote Charlotte.
Kind of mean.
And I really liked it.
Like she was really rude to Susan Sharon.
She's like, he's a dog, not an Oracle.
And it's like, I don't think you even know this woman that well.
I don't think Susan Sharon's also your friend to where you can use that tone with her, but
also hilarious that Susan Sharon isn't phased by like a new person in her life.
Just being completely rude.
No, it doesn't take it.
Doesn't care.
Does it?
Yeah.
It doesn't hit her at all.
She really rolls off.
She probably, she's, but also it's like, she's so like exhausted.
She's exhausted by her husband.
She has like nothing left to give.
So she's just like, yeah, that woman can be mean to me.
Whatever.
It's like, it's dark.
She's throwing back another martini.
Fuck it, girl.
I do fear of like, even if Susan Karen wasn't in odds with her pair, her husband, she'd
still find another issue to quarrel over constantly.
For sure.
She needs it.
It's fuel.
It's fuel.
She's a girl who lives issue to issue.
For sure.
And I love a girl like that.
I think I kind of have that a little bit.
Really?
What's your issue right now?
Well, I don't have a, I have a couple of issues at the moment, but I've noticed that when,
when nothing is wrong, I'm, I have almost more anxiety because I have no, I'm, I run
on anxiety.
And then if I don't have anything to put it towards, I just sit with it.
And then I just almost feel like, yeah, I just sort of sit nervously.
It's amazing you bring that up because that's actually what I Google about most nights.
Really?
Yeah.
So it's basically like your body is used to the anxiety.
So when nothing's wrong and there's nowhere to focus, you feel unsafe because that's not
your baseline.
So it's like a nervous system regulation thing.
Where your nervous system is like, usually like this is the constant.
Where's the constant?
And so you like look for something.
But if you need help getting an issue, like Amelia and I are happy to help you with that.
Okay.
I'm going to talk to you.
I'm going to start.
We're going to get on a, we got to get on a group text.
So y'all all, yeah.
The other day.
Yeah.
Whatever.
I don't even know.
No, please.
Well, no, I, so I, whatever.
I was feeling, feeling not cute recently and went and I got filler for the first time.
Oh, hell yeah.
That's so exciting.
And I hate it.
I'm going to probably.
Honestly, after I leave here, I'm probably going to get it dissolved.
I think it's so weird.
It makes me.
World Trade Center straight to get to get straight to it.
Well, you're not the first girl in my world to tell me this.
Like my friend got Botox and then immediately was like, I look worse.
Like I need to get rid of this.
I'm never getting it again.
Oh, and that's because Botox, you have to wait it out, which sucks.
But they're like, it's not that long.
I think it's like two months.
Yeah.
That's not still.
Or if you do a lot of hot yoga, apparently you have to get Botox like once a week.
This girl was posting about how she sweats.
So much that it like breaks it down.
Yes.
Yes.
I'm like, girl, they call it.
They're like, they're like, it'll metabolize faster.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But anyways, got filler and was like just staring at my face in the mirror.
And I was like, oh no, oh no, oh no.
This is horrible.
And it's like, I almost think I got it because I wasn't planning on getting it.
And I was like, I think I got it because I knew I was going to hate it.
And then I'll have something to feel anxious about.
Like I didn't think that consciously.
But then after I was like, why did I do this?
Totally.
Like I didn't, I'm not anti filler.
I was just like, I don't.
I don't care that much about that particular, like I'm not sitting there like dissecting
my face in the mirror every day.
Right.
So I was like, I think I got this because I just needed like something to project on.
And you needed another hour.
I needed another hour.
Yes, please.
Yes.
It's a nice experiment.
You got to do an hour called filler.
It's all puns.
It's only tags and puns.
It's a perfect hour.
What does it rhyme with?
Chill.
Jill.
I need a friend named Jill.
But yeah.
I, yes, anyways, but that's my little sidebar about my, I hear people, a lot of these like
estheticians are now spending, like they're spending more time dissolving filler than
they actually are in injecting.
Yeah.
So many people are regretting it.
That's so interesting.
It only lasts like for three days because of the swollen properties.
And then afterwards it settles on your face.
And then it like starts to fall.
I know they tried to tell me not to get it, but they were like, you should get Sculptra
instead.
But then Sculptra is perfect.
Fairly permanent because it's not this.
Is this like the most boring thing to talk about ever?
So Sculptra is, um, they call it a biostimulator and it, it mimics filler.
So if you, wherever they inject it, it will like plump out, but it's your own collagen
that's doing it.
So it's basically restoring collagen.
So you're making the filler basically with your body, which is, I don't fully understand
how that happens, but.
I did the salmon sperm facial.
Oh.
That like makes.
That makes collagen grow.
Shout out to Sisu.
I got a salmon sperm, which is like, okay.
I like wanted to get something Botox adjacent just to like, you know, be with the girls,
but I don't think.
I think they're all fake.
I know.
It's a, it's a rough, it's a rough world.
And like, yeah, I think there are so few people who like know how to do it, um, in a way that
actually makes you like look better.
Yeah.
That's what I like about this show though, because everyone's face is aged so beautifully.
I know.
It really does.
It's true.
The, the humanity that dawns upon their face with age.
Yes.
It's such a revelation.
And, and I was even on like a Bravo party last night where so many reality TV stars and people
that work for reality TV stars.
First off, you can't discern a difference because at some point everyone becomes who
they watch.
And like, you know how you like, you become your, like your face slowly changes into what
your partner's face looks like.
There's like sign.
So, I mean, I think the same thing happens in a Bravo verse.
Like if you're on a cast long enough, girl, everyone starts looking.
like Kathy Hilton.
that's a beautiful part but it's so nice to like have the passage of a time like on character i
think that's what actually makes her the most beautiful is that she kind of looks like a little
not whether it's not the right word but like i know what you mean no no no yeah i agree and i
yeah and i love i love their faces like i could truly watch them forever and i agree it's there's
a the imperfections are what make them beautiful but it's not even imperfect it's like they just
look like people and you're like oh right that's what a face looks like yeah maybe it's a quality
to film though probably it's also that yeah and carrie's curls the way they frame her it's like
well this is absolutely stunning it's like sculptra yeah yeah she has hair can be like
sculptra it is true like because girls aren't drinking anymore to stay young and they're never
going outside like these girls are gonna tan and they're gonna be alcoholics and they're gonna
smoke cigarettes yep and they look gorgeous by the way yeah it looks good on them she's like
maybe the only person on tv
that makes smoking look like kind of beautiful the more the more episodes i watch i'm like i think
i want to get into this and it's like girl you're not watching the pit though because i'm like
some of those girls i'll tell you when the nurses get their smoke break i i am just a mesmerized mama
wait which one's smoke i haven't noticed oh dana dana smokes oh i guess i just didn't
not to put her name out there but maga monica smokes as well oh okay she gets lots of stuff
because you know she's like only working for me and i'm like oh my god i'm like oh my god i'm
she's on her time right she's on her even when she's at the pit right
um okay so let's hop over to carrie's birthday party at the arabian nights yes i wonder how
old she's turning 33 well yeah it's 33 because she's 32 jesus year oh that's right so they're
all yeah so stanford has organized a birthday party for carrie arabian nights at kind of the
restaurant i've ever seen we've lost the
concept of themed restaurants in new york i know like a true devastation i was watching this and
being like how come i never go to arabian nights dinner for my birthday it looks so fun i went to
a pizza shop like but you chose that we did mediterranean last year yeah you're right you're
right so i just want to put what place a shop did you go to um most general in williamsburg
it was really good that's really good it was good i want to go there it was like the first
day of spring it was awesome oh that's so nice there was no ac and everybody was sweating but
can you guys do 20 more on this yeah uh yeah it was really good there was pizza and friends and
it's like that's all we can hope for you grew up in the city right i grew up in westchester you grew
up in westchester okay which is some people are calling to the six borough yeah yeah i would never
put that on did you feel like there were more themed restaurants in new york at a certain point
because i'm like i don't think i've ever really been to one but i feel like they were of a time
where they were it was you could have a themed restaurant and it wasn't corny it was like
actually quite chic there's a lot of them in this show indochina was kind of themed oh yeah
but that's kind of like backyard themed but also the chicest backyard in thailand and then little
brick lane there used to be all those indian places that were oh right yeah yeah yeah right
and then where else i i guess we're kind of bringing it back like in bushwick there's this
place called black a red pearl which is a jazz themed chinese bar okay which you know hey come
do anything i guess you want and i'm walking in somebody's places a lot of dive bars a lot of bars
now are themed dive instead of it being an actual dive i feel like i've noticed that yeah yeah what
do you mean themed dive what makes it inauthentic and performative oh yeah right or the woods they
aged it before yes pre-aged okay that's what it is with like the patina on the walls like yeah it
is weird to me that people are like we want to create the dive bar with nice stuff but then we
like well what do you yeah who are you patina on the walls but not patina on their face
yes that is like the real global trend they want everything to look old but they want to feel as
young as possible that's right inside the old that's so maybe it's a juxtaposition guys i'm
getting this filler dissolved right after i'm leaving here yeah you can you can i feel like
it's beautiful so yeah and then okay so i if i was at my birthday party and i of course would
invite my ex out of anxiety it's just like something i love to do and all my friends are
crazy is like oh this isn't a big birthday party with all her friends this is an intimate dinner
and he's getting a seat at the table like and um it's so funny that it's just like the main four
girls stanford and then of course sharon or whatever i know karen sharon i like that you've
we've called her 50 different combinations of women's names susan sharon gets the invite and
it's like by the way you've never brought her up carrie like she's out of nowhere i mean but
carrie's like a girl this the city yes yes and she's like of course you can crash for a night
like i would say that to any girl i've ever met i feel like that's a little bit with my husband
because i'll be like oh i'm hanging out with my friend angela and he's like where we i've known
you for so long and i'm like angela i'm like yeah i guess it is like someone i've known but i'm not
i i like more recently started hanging out
with but like yeah i don't know i could see like the person in my life having to be like a witness
to that no yeah your husband's being sneaky and you need to check up on that well that evan will
be like well i'm going to this birthday party i'm like who is that and they're like you know
about me you've met them and i'm like no i haven't usually i have though but here's the thing you
have so it's actually not anything like that but sometimes like it doesn't actually matter about
the quality quantity of time sometimes it's just about the quality it is yeah i would bring her to
like because i look to girls like that as um i'm she can just she can hold herself in any setting
it's important to bring her to places because you've you just had lunch with these girls about
six hours ago you have nothing new to talk about here's the thing she can generate anything out of
anything right so it's we if you need 40 minutes of fodder girl throw her in there yes susan sharon's
yeah i wish she was in more episodes she's really fun well when they do bring in a new girl it
always is a fucking blast like always the one a couple episodes ago it's like it's like it's like
i'm glad they're getting messy over meze this time it's like that's what's a nice that's a little bit
of a difference messy over meze messy over meze big walks in and carrie's completely shocked to
see that he brought jack from episode one i believe oh is he in episode one yes right he's
got like a friend that he brings with him places yeah okay friend of uh yeah so episode one because
carrie has a similar situation in the first episode of the show and she's like oh my god
or it's the second episode she meets big yeah oh it's the second episode sorry she meets big and
big is like i have plans and then she crashes said plans because they were supposed to hang out
and because she thought he was on a different date but it turned out to be jack and the same
thing is happening now so it's an amazing through line and carrie's always flabbergasted right she's
like it's not yeah she's like i thought it was gonna be a blonde girl named sarah right right
this feels amazing but then of course
so some time has passed we're like is carrie over big and then obviously not but then they don't
hook up so it is crazy like when they're walking the street and they're both like so i guess we're
both gonna go home and not talk about the awkwardness of this and then they don't talk
about the awkwardness and then they go home and then carrie is like so i'm absolutely not over
him even a little bit yeah also it's her birthday i wanted her to i know like from birthday sex
yeah like would it be i mean it's already
fucked up that he's there like the damage is done she got fucked i'll tell you that i mean yeah
exactly like he also like sent roses i'm like right there i was like something's very wrong
like the of all and i know they ask like what flowers was it and everyone's kind of red roses
and i'm like it's really intense like he's he's so manipulative no like it's it like this is
clinical manipulation you could be able to sue for this now yes yes exactly emotional damages
yeah millions i know but you could do anything to me if you brought long stem
in a box in a box it's so chic it's incredible it's so powerful it's so powerful and it's so
fun that scene where she receives the flowers because she she's getting these gorgeous flowers
on her birthday yeah and then as she leaves the front door it cuts over to susan sharon and she's
asleep on the couch with her head dangling oh yeah that girl is everywhere she's everywhere
you want to be and then she gets to finally interact with so she interacts with jack who is
mr big's friend that he brought and she is just chatting away with him and he's like oh my god
with him and she goes oh did you try to pop a ganoush and he goes hey honey have you ever
shut up before and then she falls back in love with her husband and then she realizes my husband
lets me talk my husband it's kind of one of the only things he lets me do yeah and i thank him
for that though i'm snuggling on the couch with the dog i'm like y'all are so nuts this is not
real it was because yeah i guess what they meant with the dog being there and how it saved their
marriage is because he can just verbally abuse the dog which is like i'm like well this isn't
what we want either
yeah it was that yeah that whole thing i was like but if they're happy i'm happy same same i think i'm
happy um for us to cut to our third break and when we get back we will do our last two questions

king's hawaiian cinnamon bites there's nothing like it
we have a really important question to ask you okay i'm so excited girl what girl are you
oh
okay i think
that i'm oh man i mean kind of charlotte i guess it's for this particular episode right
is that right that's what we're saying what makes you charlotte well just because i we
my husband and i we have three dogs and i believe and also you have three dogs we have three dogs i
had two dogs when i met him and he had a dog so we like brady bunched our dog do you have a yard
no oh my god they're living in an apartment but they get lots of walks and we live across from a
dog park which is huge so you're um there's a whole system yeah so they're having a great time
in new york but um yeah but but one of our dogs is very uh henry coded a very yes like a complete
loose cannon he's like a schnauzer pickanese poodle mix i adopted him from china like this
woman was doing this rescue mission where she would go far away so far away on timu
where's your order
tiktok shop
you gotta be
this woman was like doing this rescue mission where she would go get dogs from meat markets
and fly them over here and adopt them out of the back of a pet store oh my god yeah the lisa
vanderpump of guanas oh thank you for saying that um yeah so anyways one of ours is he's he's nuts
but i would never i would never give him away to a susan sharon i just tolerate it and he affects
all of our lives it is crazy how quick charlotte's like well this just won't it was so fast
i think it's funny because like when i first saw this episode i was not a dog owner so i was just
like ha ha ha ha and now i'm like that's so cruel right you fully just gave up on henry because you
probably left him alone too long of course he fucking lost his mind like he's not just like
tearing things up for fun yeah i will say that's the worst kind of dog i love i'm like i'm not
coming back in my life to dogs but i i do not like jack russell terriers and i'm sorry if we
lose like half our listener base because of that you think we have a lot of actually don't know
Are they like poorly behaved notoriously?
I've never met a well-behaved Jack Russell.
Really?
Jack Russell, two male names.
Right.
I mean, that's bad news to begin with.
That's the male version of a Susan Sharon.
Exactly.
It's a terror.
Jack Russell, Susan Sharon.
Exactly.
Those things are awful dogs.
Oh, my God.
I had one in my friend.
He was the one kid in our middle school that everyone felt like a comfortable bullying.
Yeah.
Every time he would come to the bus, his Jack Russell would grab at his pants and rip, like
bite his pants and rip them down every single day.
Oh, my God.
And then we would almost like assault him worse than that with our words the moment
he got on the bus.
Oh, my God.
So that kind of had an easy day of it.
In middle school, everyone picks one person they hate.
Evan, this sounds terrible.
No, but it was a whole school.
That's like out of a movie.
The fighting of the pants, pulling the pants down.
That's like a 90s movie.
But life is a nightmare playing and then the dog gets, and then he gets on the bus and
everybody yells at him.
Poor guy.
I know.
I know.
So, yeah.
Well, that would color my perception of.
Like, Jack Russell terrors for the rest of my life if I saw that.
Of course.
Once, let alone every day.
Yeah.
I know.
He was getting in hard at home.
So, it's like, I can't believe.
And he had to go to the bus after that.
Oh, God.
It's a lot for one guy.
Yeah.
That is a lot for one guy.
Girl, what girl are you to speak?
I am.
Oh, I was going to say I'm Susan Sharon because I love a pod.
That is true about you.
Yeah.
The way she's able to speak and navigate through the world.
Oh.
And she has my dream life, which is.
To be a woman, period.
But to be like, I love a Jewish couple where it's like the female is like something vaguely
creative and the husband does finance.
Yes.
It's what I grew up on.
It's what I know.
Yeah.
It's my bread and butter.
And to kind of witness that, it's so beautiful.
Because my mom is like a full Susan Sharon.
Is she?
My mom is a professional namer and talker, I'll tell you.
Wait, what does your mom do?
She names stuff.
What does it mean?
Like products.
That's so cool.
Yeah.
She came up with M&M pretzels or whatever.
No, she didn't name them.
But she was on it.
She does also product innovation.
That's amazing.
She does like a very creative side of a kind of like a marketing.
I guess it's not a super.
It's a kind of sterile industry.
Right.
In general.
But she does the most creative.
But she does the creative part of it.
That's really cool.
It's very cool.
Do they call themselves namers?
Yeah.
That's so cool.
I've never heard that.
My mom's a part-time namer.
That also makes complete sense.
I don't know why I didn't know.
But it's like, well, that can't be a job.
And I'm like, well, that is amazing.
I think of, because there are people who like come up with baby names.
Right.
And so that's where my mind went.
And then I'm like, oh, right.
Product naming is like such a big thing.
No, everyone thinks baby names first.
Yeah.
They do?
Okay.
That makes sense.
Almost everyone is like, your mom.
And she's like, they came up with Evan?
Evan's a great name.
I know.
Evan and Jack is crazy.
Oh, you could have reached into a bowl and pulled those out.
Nothing so exciting about those.
Wow.
Girl, what girl are you?
I'm Carrie.
Because if there's one thing I'm going to do,
it's tell you to break up with your partner immediately.
And then be confused when all my friends are like,
you can't just do that.
I think you're being a good friend.
I'm constantly being like, they were evil and we would get rid of them.
And then they stay with them for 20 years.
And that is my bad.
Also, when Carrie's at her birthday party and she's like,
vodka's my only ally.
Literally, girl.
So real.
Yeah, I turned on her, so.
I, yeah, I feel like.
That's, that's a good one.
I feel like, yeah, Carrie at her birthday.
I don't know.
She had a good birthday.
I think it was an okay birthday.
It wasn't bad.
I just didn't like that her.
I mean, if you're going to bring that guy around.
Yeah.
You know.
I will say for like a show that talks so much about age,
she has no existential crisis about turning 33.
Like it's not even brought up that she,
the process of aging in the episode at all.
I feel like this show in general is very like,
like not like they're, they don't talk about it.
Or they're avoiding talking about it.
But I feel like it's very positive about age.
Except for the next episode.
What is the next one?
But then actually they come back around.
What happens in the next one?
Miranda gets, or Samantha gets called in her forties.
Oh, that's true.
Yeah, that's true.
They're not ugly.
They kind of just dump on her.
Yeah.
But then other girls, it's like,
they kind of are unscathed.
They're like, fuck it, Miranda.
Yeah.
They're like, we can do all of our aging jokes with Samantha.
Yeah.
Even though she's like a knockout.
I know.
Well, they're jealous.
They're jealous.
They're jealous little freaks.
Okay.
In our last segment, we were doing Carrie DeRay.
This is where we talk about our hot butt in moments.
We haven't come up with like kind of the tagline for this.
So we try something new every weekend.
It never works.
Well, don't be a bitch.
I'm not being a bitch.
I'm just being myself.
You guys go first.
I can take a bind.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
So my.
What are you getting carried away with, Evan?
Oh my God.
I'm getting carried away with.
I feel oftentimes people get so annoyed as we see in this episode by the Susan Sharon.
But again, she's an important element.
If any good party, you need it.
A lot of people are turning to the bathroom for a moment of sanctuary.
Find a chatty Kathy in the group because she will.
You just bring up roommates.
You got you got about eight to ten minutes of quality rest time there.
You shake your head.
You say, yes, enough.
I did a Pomodoro method at a party, girl.
I walk in.
I do my 25 minutes of real intense chatter.
I find a chatty Kathy in the back and I do that for about three hours until they burn
the cake out.
And then that's my night.
No Pomodoro.
It is beautiful.
It's so funny.
It can save a life.
That is so funny.
It is so fun to have that one friend where you're like, I can just take the backseat
and they do so much emotional labor.
Yeah.
I mean, not emotional labor, social labor.
Like it's very like they are really.
Yeah.
You can just witness.
You're off the hook.
Yes.
I'm like, I can just be myself tonight.
Yes.
I know.
I've I've I've a roommate like this.
And sometimes we can have really amazing conversations.
But sometimes I'm like, I got an hour to kill.
I'll just walk in and we'll get her started.
But I like it because she's so knowledgeable.
So it's like a smart girl.
Like if you just want to know about Southern Ireland for an hour, it's like get get here.
You're like, it's not not a podcast.
Exactly.
She's fine.
I'm like, I'm having a good time.
I don't need to say much.
She's taught me a lot about Ireland.
Exactly.
What are you getting carried away with?
I'm getting carried away with why is there no whimsy in current TV show naming the character?
We used to have.
It's so fun.
Susan Sharon.
Must I say it one more time?
Susan Sharon.
We had Booth Jonathan, like Lena knew to like pick up the slack.
That's true.
Be fun with it.
Thomas.
Yeah.
laird like mimi rose howard i mean we were having so much fun i have not seen a single girl i've
not seen a single tv show in the last five years with a first name and a first name for a first
name and a last name i know and i miss it and i just i want to whoever's making tv which it sounds
like almost no one um can you please like come up with a cool name i do think that her name is also
inspired by donna karen which i find so beautiful i didn't think about that it's an homage to new
york mama wow who's donna karen the designer she's very like big in the 90s and she's still around i
feel like i feel like she was dkny dkny don dkny the brand is donna karen new york whoa but it was
more i feel like now it's like accessories and it's kind of like i feel like i see it at like
discount stores yeah yeah but in the 90s it was like donna care like it was very it was like
i feel like i see it at like discount stores but in the 90s it was like donna care like it was very
i think dkny is a diffusion line of donna karen is donna karen still like a brick and mortar
okay it's just dkny got it the i don't know maybe there is still donna karen but still the the more
prolific name is dk okay okay she did a lot i believe huge i know it's diane von frost oh yeah
you did the rap dress the rap dress but dkny she did a lot with bedazzle oh and you know bedazzled
a huge part of what i love rhinestones mama rhinestones if you ever have miss me jeans
no oh you gotta get a pair wait what were they called miss me miss me jeans they're like bedazzled
they're like a big deal in texas i know what they are yeah yeah yep yep yep i feel like a lot of
people had those yeah yeah yeah i miss them which i kept mine am i conflating this with something
else were they the ones that almost had like a cross like yes jeweled on the pocket and they
would have like the contrast stitching too right yeah got it oh my god yeah those are big those
are still big right ict
jeans in them now and i'm like wow well if the teens are doing it i need to do it yeah can i
guess the brand of these jeans sure are they mother they're ayr they're ayr i just got them
and i love them they're so cute thank you they are very cute i love them it's like a very stiff
denim which is nice well what's funny is i think it's actually has like stretch but it doesn't
look like it has stretch i know which i like i don't want it to look yeah and it comes in a
pair of jeans i love them yeah have you tried those yet look at that they're so expensive but
they're so so nice like they're so nice i need to get jeans that are good i don't have those right
now i was not wearing jeans that were good for a very long time and then i bought these and my
still here jeans and i'm like i just they're on rotation i have like three pairs of pants that i
just wear constantly okay that's gonna be how i level up you kind of never see them in a jean
yeah that's such a good point never at least it's it's a structured
skirt yeah a lot of flowy tops in season five or six miranda it's a big storyline that miranda can
fit into her jeans again and i feel like that was like the only denim on the show and they
were like if we're doing denim it's got to be a storyline no it's true well it's not stapled i
think we have they wear denim but it's there's so much more staple denim now yeah it's interesting
to watch how i guess like the culture of jeans yeah changed so much that's so true
jeans have become part of jeans honestly become the outfit in a way that you didn't really have
in the 90s and 2000s that's a really good point right we used to have like a lot more diversity
in the pant space no no i think like less no but like like charlotte's always wearing like weird
pants girls don't wear those anymore yeah okay i'll give it to you charlotte's fashion really
evolves in an interesting way i feel like she gets very very park avenue but it did
not start out that way it was actually quite chill she was like soft girl yeah yeah and then
yeah anyways what are you getting carried away what am i carried away with this is such a small
detail but there is a scene of this episode where carrie is wearing this like striped like thin
scarf that like definitely doesn't keep her warm but she wears it decoratively and it's like it's
like multi-colored and it reminds me that i think it was the gap had like those scarves
that they were like pushing at one point around like maybe this is like early 2000s pushing that
it was like there was like a gap ad where everyone's like dancing and wearing these scarves
and like seeing carrie wearing this scarf um i guess i'm just carried carried away with wanting
that scarf to come back into fashion in like a real way girl bring it back you could totally
wear it now and people would think you're doing i kind of feel like everything's in style right
now like i actually don't know what is not allowed so maybe now is a good time to bring it back
where are you where are you next stand-up show okay just a
little it's kind of like waldo or whatever yeah but like yeah i don't know i feel like there's a
lot of trends that have come back around and that's one where i'm like i need i'm gonna need
that back yeah i'm gonna need i'd need like a colorful stripey like real sweater scarf to come
back i agree i love those honestly the moment you brought up i'm like i know i'm gonna go on ebay
for 10 minutes i want a scarf when it's like about to be summer but i was like that really
made me want it to be fall immediately
