Sex and the City S2E13: “Games People Play” with Zach Noe Towers
1h 5m 59s
The podcast explores themes of gender, power, and emotional dynamics through conversations about *Sex and the City*, Burning Man culture, and modern relationships. It critiques how men often dominate interactions by teaching or playing games that position women as inferior, while highlighting spaces like Burning Man where community, trade, and mutual support create empowerment. The discussion delves into toxic relationship patterns, such as emotional manipulation, lack of self-reflection, and the "lion's share" mentality where men take control and women are left to endure. It also examines mental health, therapy, and the importance of self-awareness, noting how characters like Carrie fail to process emotional pain due to a lack of introspection. The hosts reflect on their own lives, discussing how personal growth, self-compassion, and emotional intelligence—like in therapy or through AI-assisted processing—can help navigate complex social and romantic dynamics. The episode ends with a thoughtful reflection on identity, autonomy, and the evolving role of women in society, where emotional and physical independence are increasingly valued. These themes are reinforced through references to music, pop culture, and personal anecdotes, showing how everyday experiences mirror deeper societal patterns. The conversation underscores the need for authentic connection, emotional honesty, and mutual respect in relationships, especially in a world where technology and social expectations often distort intimacy.
i want to help no they don't want to help they want to tell you how to do something
they want to like explain why you're inferior yes and i'm down for that
welcome back to girls we watch a podcast about girls tv and girls on tv my name is amelia
retaller and i'm evan lazarus and joining us on the pod today we are so fucking lucky
keep your drums rolling for zach noe towers
hi your shoes are so cute thank you first note they are amazing thank god you're here
you're so la because you're blonde i am blonde nobody does that anymore is it is blonde over
we have one when was it we have one friend that's blonde i'm kidding
i will say in a time when it is so embarrassing to be a white person to be a blonde white person
is like wow i'm original recipe like bad to be an adult blonde man it's like no one's thought of
that and long hair i should be tried as an adult in court not sure for what yet not sure for what
i for sure deserve jail yeah in some way i think i would do good there in jail yeah because i can
french braid is that all there is to women's prison being able to french braid you have to
offer something and i'd be happy to braid anyone's
hair i i unfortunately think i would probably be like raped to death but uh but until that point
it might be it might be a hoot and a holler we're all licking through the cafeteria it's a skill
based economy even in there it's a good gig economy it's like okay i roll cigarettes on
mondays i take loads on tuesdays toilet wine thursdays oh i did once i knew a girl who made
toilet wine in prison
and she said it's not so bad well in prison i any alcohol would probably be delicious yeah i would
really if i could i would get on hard drugs in prison no of course to just surpass the time or
i'd get my doctorate or yeah i'd get really into reading sometimes i'm like oh my god i could
finally read every chapter book i've been meaning to get my hands on as soon as i get locked up for
like two to seven years what's the first book you would get into i'd probably finally read
infinite jest oh
really that person's not long then you end up killing yourself yeah i think we'd all read
fame sick by lena dunham i just reread it over and over well i of course listen to it because
the sound of her voice is oh my god massively audio books in prison i know we i'm like actually
i don't want to be locked up like i have to listen i'm afraid to quote this now but i think she
follows me on instagram oh my god which was when it happened it was like one of those things where
i almost wanted to like print and frame it and put it like one of those on my front door centerpiece
of the home yeah yeah because obviously i adore everything she does you get a notification so
powerful oh like um wait uh princess nokia yeah commented on a silly little video recently and i
was like okay i'm relevant i'm relevant we love that we love that she was on the pod and she came
on and she was like she released her she announced her album on this podcast and um and then she
never released the album no it's out right now natalie
cut it i know keep it in natalie
yeah she's iconic she's amazing she's always like dropping her label and finding a new gay guy to go
to a club with good she's so fun and very autistic like in an amazing way i find most variations of
autism are actually quite commendable and fun to be around god forbid you have a skill you know
what i mean right they would kill in a school-based economy okay i'm hearing put all autistic people
in prison
from the early days
or burning man or burning man that was pre-pod we were talking about burning man pre-pod can we
just talk about burning man the whole time yeah for sure okay because jenna told me no she told
me that she went with her boyfriend's family who had an rv and they were all doing molly but it was
no problem but they got stuck there longer than they should have but that's okay because they
found themselves yeah you will find yourself you'll lose yourself you're finding yourself
you'll lose yourself well the rv has uh has navigation now yeah but i think
maybe desert also weather like one year i went twice and one year there were a bunch of it rained
a bunch so every car got like stuck coming in in like the wet wet earth it was rain the mud yeah
couldn't get out crazy stranded yeah and then like hours pass or days pass and like you're just stuck
but of all places it is a good place to be stuck because like it's like a trade economy where
people like gift food or like gift like whatever
jewelry something they trade so you come with enough to survive and then you also get like
there will be camp doing like bologna sandwich fried bologna sandwiches and shots of whiskey
tuesday from 10 to noon so you go there for that and like you dance and you do that there'll be a
champagne um sunrise dance party where you go and they give you a bottle of champagne and you're
like dancing and drinking champagne this industry as well i've got to eat this all your soul for
something all right the spotify studio works the same way
you don't want to see what i have to do good to bonnie this morning girl
um today we are talking about sex in the city season 2 episode 13 games people play yeah and
finally we've gotten like two and a half seasons in they haven't talked about the games we play
they were edging you with games yeah like they've been playing games with not calling it that
we haven't talked about the games we've played yet yeah call a spade a spade i just learned that
phrase i've been trying to use it oh really wait do you guys know the phrase
the lion's share yeah i thought it was the lion's shed
nope nope maybe that's a different thing um i've just been talking to young people and they like
don't know what the lion's share means can you use the lion's share in a sentence you can actually
do it in a burning man sentence pretty easily the the well or the pizza got here but all the
straight guys took the lion's share of it oh and lions eat so much the biggest portion yeah it's
like they got the lion the biggest portion okay so we're going to go to the lion's share and we're
like oh see i thought when a lion catches something and it brings it back to his family
usually the male lion eats the vast majority of the meal and then the children and the female
get much it's like reverse bath water where the dad takes the bath last yeah but to me the lion's
shed wait i can't believe i said yes before i heard the whole yeah it's not that but what did
you think lion's shed was like so to me if i had to use it in the sentence it'd be like oh that girl
got moved to the lion's shed where it's like she's a fighter she's fiery we gotta lock her up
maybe this is a phrase and we just don't i don't know it or we don't know maybe lion's share is
completely made up but i want to respect your culture thank you wait people don't know lion's
share yeah i well this is unfortunately about getting older too the first person the function
was like what does that mean and i was like what do you mean what does it mean
and then i went around asking a bunch of other young people at the party if they knew
so i it became like the thing my thing at the party where i was like asking
it's so fun the youngest looking people if they knew what it meant it's i love becoming a census
girl at a party where i'm like i have a clipboard and we're gonna build a bar graph mission
accomplished yeah well it's fun because people love a question because otherwise you're gonna
ask them how are you today and they don't want that my question in l.a the whole time i've been
here yeah finding out people ask
if they and i just asked a producer of this this in the other room he's gonna be like i thought i
was fucking special i feel bad in new york i always ask people where they went to college
but now i'm asking here do you ask did you go to college first or do you ask where did you go to
college first um i asked did you go to college yeah i think it's nicer like and he was saying
i was actually rude oh really we're now oh he's and you're like you don't seem like you went to
for the record you can go to college for anything anywhere so it does not really mean smart to me
and some of the stupidest
people oh my god truly hello i would also much rather be asked like a deeply unsettling question
yeah one where you're like i don't have my like go-to answer for this totally you got to come up
with it on the spot or one of those like if you had to die in like an animal attack what animal
would you have attack you or kary serratus being like so would you just say kary serratus
yes that too the lion's gate um
kary's therapist asking
her oh so every relationship you're in you're there still oh yeah you're the common you're the
common great way to bring in the episode you really just reigned us in and you said let's
talk about this fucking episode the lion shed the whole episode i couldn't i couldn't listen to that
because you said lion's gate and i was like wait a third lion's gate is a production company right
the lion's mane the lion's mane no i'm just a natural blog because adding words on lion um okay i
quick summary of the episode they're answering the question do you have to play games for a
relationship to work carrie's struggling to get over big and all her friends are like girls shut
up go see a shrink and then samantha's dating a nicks fan and she's like i only get to have sex
if the nicks win oh my god she would have been pounded to death recently she would have been
pounded into smithereens literally she would be lion's meat um and then miranda's playing peekaboo
with the guy across the way from her apartment iconic and charlotte doesn't really have a story
this week charlotte was not in a frame of this
this episode. She was in the beginning
when it was like, please shut up.
I'm like, Kristen Davis asked for the week off.
She doesn't have my favorite line of the episode, though.
What'd she say? Where they're talking about therapy
and she goes, no, growing up, my parents
said you could do any mental hurl, you just
replace with physical exercise. Oh, yeah, that's where we're so good at.
And that's where we're also good at tennis.
And I'm like, that actually makes a lot of sense
to me. For sure.
I mean, it's the waspiest way to deal with conflict.
Yeah. If you're from Connecticut, like,
what else would you do? Are you from Connecticut?
No, but I like to think I am.
She's been twice. You identify as being from
Connecticut. Mainly because when I was little, all I did
was rewatch Gilmore Girls over and over
and over until I was an adult. The place shot in
Burbank.
I don't think
we could have a better guest for this episode, honestly.
Really? Because I play games? Yeah, I think you know
about people playing games. You know.
I trust you so much about it. Yeah, what's
your life like? Is it game filled?
What's my life like? What a deep
question. Well, let's build.
We'll get through the intro
if we have to, and then we'll get to the games of
it all. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
We have to. We open up on a
gorgeous montage of Carrie
hanging out with each of her friends
individually, being like, Big is
like so stupid, and I'm awesome, and I'm
so fucking mature, and my life is perfect, and
all the friends. Let's talk about the sparkle of it all. The sparkle?
Where she keeps going like, well, I had
the pizzazz in a relationship. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
When she's like, I brought the it factor.
The it factor. And we all do feel that way in a relationship.
We're like, I was a fun one, so why would I ever have to
do anything like emotional,
carry emotional weight? Sure.
Be the intelligent.
And, you know, again, this is my 14th podcast
of the week, so I. Wait, at this point, though,
because you guys have been watching the series,
I assume more recently,
do we agree with her
in this? I absolutely. Well, this is what. I mean, anyone. Oh, do you agree? Oh, no, no.
That she's like the. Okay, okay.
I think we do agree. I do think women always
bring the it factor, though. I do think Big's
a fucking boring loser, so in that way.
For sure. But. Yeah.
Their relationship had problems because
of both of them.
Wait, did you just say it takes two to tango?
Yeah, literally. Sam!
It takes two to tango. I'll fucking say it.
I'll fucking go there. I'm not afraid.
But, yeah, so
her friends then decide to have a little intervention
for her, and they're like, bitch,
you gotta see a shrink.
Everybody in Manhattan sees a shrink.
My shrink has a shrink.
And it's like, okay.
That's such a good line.
I've been dying for Carrie to go to therapy.
I do love the conversation about mental health
awareness that is the 2000s
because so much of the 2010s
and 2020s have been, like, a very
specific era of mental health. Oh, sponsored
by BetterHelp. Literally. And for
them to not have BetterHelp. You listen to the pod.
Oh, amazing.
I am, like, every time I get drunk, I'm like,
my parents are bad at communicating because they didn't
know about BetterHelp.
And that's not their fault.
They just, they didn't have it back then.
They had to write fucking letters to each other.
I'm like, well, ZocDoc didn't exist.
So how would they even find them?
ZocDoc. What a pull.
But she goes to therapy
and she's very, like,
anti-therapy. She's like, this is
silly. And mind you, she's going
to the coolest therapist. She's going to Ellen Greenfield,
Dr. G, Gwyneth Paltrow's
therapist. Wow. Again,
one of my favorite lines. She goes,
wait, what does Gwyneth Paltrow have to
go to therapy for? And then Sanford goes,
oh, she suffers from high self-esteem.
That is actually a great
line. She suffers from high self-esteem.
High self-esteem is so fucking funny.
I do think when you have high self-esteem, it can
really hurt you because you're confused when people react
a certain way to you. Yeah. This bends
my reality in a strange way.
When a friend goes through a breakup, the
emotional toll can take out on your closest
friends. It does almost feel like you're
almost going through a breakup yourself because
if you do care for this individual,
you want to, of course, be supportive.
Yeah. Why?
But you're not the one dictating the rules of how they
can process emotions. You can only be there as
support. So you've processed,
like the breakup, of course, we're all feeling negative
about it, but you've processed it, like, of course,
months before your friend ever will.
Totally. And you're just constantly being left in that
baggage. Not to dox
our friend, but our friend
went through a breakup and her friend
struggled the most with it.
It was a hard year
for her friend. Wait, oh, because
of the way that she was unloading
on this person? Or because the
friend wanted them to be together? The friend
was just like, I want you to be happy and over
this. Oh.
Yeah, my sister
had a rough go of it with a guy
and the shockwaves are still, like, present
and all you want as a loved one is to be
like, let me body swap. Like, let me
let me, like, in there, let me
like, move things around. No one's ever pitched
that, actually. All you
want to do is body swap. Yeah.
That's so sweet. Are you, is it older
or younger? Younger sister. Oh, then you're
like, yeah, let me go help her. Big brother, yeah, for sure.
It would be interesting if we could body swap
to break up with our friend's
ex. Oh my god, yeah, because you could say the perfect
thing. Yes, and you just know how to
cut him down. Oh my god. And be, like,
totally, like, removed.
Yeah, we, that's
a movie. That's something. Elon, could
you get on that? We dropped
in here, we drove by the Tesla Diner.
You drove by it? Yeah. Don't go to it.
Obviously. For once,
we've gotten used to the Capital One Cafe, sure,
but the Tesla Diner, it's just
It's, um, it is, like, dystopian.
It's like, did you guys ever see, like,
Back to the Future? Yeah. Where
they, anyway, it's like a really. A musical?
um no not no the movie unfortunately the movie but like the future is run by like a trumpian
type guy and it's very like yeah like tesla diner vibes so many things that happened today i'm like
well this was a line on 30 rock yes yes oh yeah it's really interesting i mean just uh bring the
conversation together my friend recently was going through end of a situation ship and at the same
time she was doing a beta program for this ai company where she wears a ring and she can talk
to the ring like friend but it talks to her back in her own voice and that's how she's processing
her breakup because she can't bring it to her friends anymore they've asked her to stop wait
this is real yeah so right now she's talking directly into a ring and her own voice is talking
back to her helping her process the breakup because otherwise it'd become an emotional
toll on her friends and she needs to talk about it every single day in order to go through it
wait and the ring has a speaker on it no like headphones oh my god your phone is a ring
and then it processes it through like ai
it processes through ai and then that's how she's going through her breakup how did she get into the
beta program because she did their web series for them that is so that's so wild i won't even get an
aura ring because that's none of my business have what my heart rate is and i and i got an aura ring
i had to ban myself for my aura ring because you're checking it too much or because it's just
because i didn't know anything about myself except the minutes of ram i was trying to tell
the story in the podcast but i bombed it um about a month ago so i'm going to try it again do it
with no sleep and 18 podcasts and one now it's time to do it honey rev up round two let's do the
thing a former guest at the pod ella abmhoff she sends a dm to amelia and i it's just a photo for
herself and we go oh ella this is so fun no caption no nothing with there you go okay great
ella having a fun day she goes yeah i'm like and then in her hand she like has all this jewelry and
i'm like oh do you have an aura ring on she goes not on this hand i was like she's like on my other
one i'm like oh you are too fun ella abmhoff and she goes i have to tell you a secret i'm like
please ella tell us a secret and about three hours passes before that what is the the stepdaughter
of the vice president gonna tell me she goes i wear an aura ring but it's always dead
that's so it's just a ring at that point and then her birthday party was the next day
i'm like this is gonna be on daily mail i swear to god last time she was on the pod
there was multiple being like ella abmhoff is not a marnie
mit has done the research and that's so funny cracking me up but yeah wearable technology
is going to replace friend groups i'm ready for a chip we can get back to the pod um no this is
the pod okay okay i'm ready for a chip girl i heard about your breakfast you're not doing it
anything with dipping that's so funny no i like the idea of like the we don't point on the pod
so i can like maybe just scan things like my front door unlocks my like my credit cards in there
i don't know people are gonna look back on apple pay and be like you had to tap
why didn't you just think about it yeah well no they have that i know neural link or whatever
well this girl you
can because you know how you can like tap your phones and they can connect yeah oh my god i
always get performance anxiety though when it's like when you switch contacts or whatever you
know you mount each other and i'm like please do it please do it please because sometimes it doesn't
i've seen evan fail so many times and it's just fucking hell it's horrible it's all for him for
me dunk oh let's try it again dunk and it's like a new person so it's like you don't have the kind
of like you're just being awkward with the new person yeah well the hardest part of that is they
don't it's all chronological
the context you're like you don't catch a person's name because it's on a text chain
and then it's in there you're like so i actually don't know this girl's name and i'm gonna have to
search through 7 000 contacts and take my best guess at it well that's why instagram is better
because you can at least be like the latest follower oh for sure but i keep following into
that but i recently saw um a random like scary man introduced this technology to a pop star
the tapping but it wasn't working for him because her phone wasn't updated so it was like a 35
minute ordeal of her like him smashing his phone against a pop star's phone no what pop star was
letting this man approach her like this you can't say i can't say on the pod but she was a marnie
um let's cut to our first break okay announcing her album yeah funniest thing and then when we
get back we are gonna really get into the thick of it wait a sec do you have an album you want
to announce in the pod oh i have a special out called twink death no i said album oh um my gosh
no i don't have an album yeah it's on youtube it's free i really know it doesn't mean it's
really over i really want to watch i've seen a lot of clips from it but i can't wait to watch
no there's one i'm sorry i haven't seen the whole thing yet it is physically painful for me to sit
down and watch a stand-up comedy special so you're really funny thank you i love your clip where
you're like y'all ever heard of zoloft okay nailed it when i was on zoloft and that came across my
desk i said finally being represented in the media this guy gets me i want to give a huge shout out
to this week's sponsor vinted i don't know about you guys but i am feeling like it's back to school
season even though i have not been able to do it for a long time i'm not going to do it for a long
time i've been in school for many many years but when it's back to school season i like to
refresh my life i would say i'm doing a closet clean out but i'm actually doing a clothing rack
clean out and going through all my clothes and being like okay am i really ever gonna wear this
one or has it just been sitting here and it's time to let go i'm just so glad we have a secondhand
marketplace app like vinted vinted is a secondhand app that makes it easy for everyday sellers like
you and me to sell pre-loved fashion and earn some extra money and with the inflation rates we are
in today's economy and now more than ever i need that cash it's super easy to list stuff on vinted
and what i love the most about it is that there's no seller fees which means i get to keep everything
i earn and use it to buy awesome stuff like this latte vinted has no seller fees and the app is
free to download that's right just go on over the app store and download it right now listing items
on vinted is quick and simple and basically once the item sells vinted creates the prepaid shipping
label for you so you can buy everything you need to buy everything you need to buy everything you
know so you don't have to deal with all that vinted is helping me live out my sisterhood of
the traveling pants dream because i sold a pair of jeans on there and now another girl gets to
wear them and i'm like oh my god i wonder if she looks like blake levy yeah so if you guys are ready
to clean out your closet and make some extra money download the vinted app for free and start
listening with no seller fees you keep every dollar you earn um we're back from the break
yeah i didn't even understand how that break happened yeah like was there a part where we
stopped talking wait let's keep that all in no we're gonna keep it all in we're
just like there's gonna be a better i hope that inserted there as well we know we don't have
better well actually they have chosen not to work with us okay well that then i can say this i had a
better help they gave me like a free year and the first session i had set up he bailed like eight
minutes before and i was like this is not good like this is not good like my self-esteem is
suffering from a digital doctor i've never met before right you're going through a rejection
now you're being rejected by the person that's supposed to help you yeah yeah yeah yeah we live
in hell anyway have you done anything you're not supposed to do anything you're not supposed to do
anything you're not supposed to do anything you're not supposed to do anything you're not supposed to do
no i'm like i'm using like chat so seldomly i really am taking on the burden of the data
centers and the water of it all and so i'm trying not to use it like in a frivolous way not that
therapy would be frivolous it probably is i haven't really i i use i use ai for emails what
do you mean like compose emails so i'm like i have to voice attacks and i have to put it well
it's worth us losing water to me i'm like yeah i gave up drinking it myself so i just poured this
on my computer once a day so funny when you're like you do have a processing disability like
ai has been so helpful with but i don't even know what it's sending all the time because i don't
always you don't read it yeah and you're like this looks jarbled too sometimes evan's apology
texts are generated by ai to me and i'm like well ai really knows how to make me feel hurt
you're like i'll do it
i'll allow it
they're like your feelings are valid i'm like you know what i'll allow it
thank you
evan's ai
um so let's talk sports night you guys big sports dudes
oh is this when they got the free alcohol
so yeah ladies drink free on sports night
wild
now that doesn't that didn't happen to me when i went to a bar for the next game
i thought this didn't happen anymore i literally while we're watching this episode in the car
while driving here watching um
a peek behind the curtain how this thought they just made
i was like women really there's no more free bars there's nothing free for women in this society
anymore i turned to my left it says xxl adult theater men entry twenty dollars women come in
for free i go finally porn theaters are still for women thank god thank god we have something
i think during the me too movement the women were like you can have the alcohol back we'd like
to not be attacked autonomy we didn't get either also like they were given beers i i can't imagine
many women are like clamoring for like a michelob ultra but
the thing about these women is like you don't know the girls we hang out i know watch i'm gonna get
torn apart you don't know about drinking culture anymore the girls fucking love beer
it is true um no it's not for me i always get a vodka crayon and everybody's like you're not 18
you need to stop doing that but then what's wrong with vodka crayon um they just it's like every time
i order it i do get my id check because they're like she must be 12 really but olivia rodrigo
just came out saying that she's not a girl
she loves vodka cranberries which means 20 like 20 nothing years old
all i'm saying is she's a cultural creator totally so now the trend has been set now the trend has
been set you know you're gonna think i'm 23 but that's older than 18 vodka pineapple that's a
little bit i'm also so post caring what anyone else is doing in regards to eating and drinking
and listening to music do your thing did you say carry oh
because girl she went through a lot this episode you are so good at wrangling it's incredible but
sports night sports night so um none of them care but they're like okay sure and miranda they do care
they walk in to go where are all the men in the city they walk 10 000 men oh it's a perfect episode
but wasn't it intentional didn't they pick this place because it would be single men
or no it didn't it seems like they they were they stumbled in there and they
said this is where all the guys have been sure oh we've been going to the wrong bars
they're at the sports bar they're all single they're all like or willing to cheat or willing
to cheat also important to yeah the two genders are single or willing to yeah and literally they're
like well they're gonna be so bored during commercials that's where we slide in i'm like
y'all are nuts but i did watch the knicks win the championship and the way i was doing my best set
in every commercial break to the end of the show i was like oh my god i'm gonna be so bored
these guys really i was like let's talk about this like you were just on they were all iris
and they couldn't understand a word you were saying were you both single yeah and are you
both you said oh yeah you're looking for a boyfriend on the premises ideally yeah yeah
on the spotify studio i'd love to find a boyfriend well he has clearance first of all so that's good
and then you are also single single oh wow wait are you married no god no no i don't think i even
i don't really believe in i don't believe it's insane that people keep getting married no like
girls i know girls i love have you ever asked girls have you ever seen it go well no everybody
thinks i'm insane for being like i'm obviously never gonna do that that would be crazy and then
they're like oh no like you're gonna find someone like i've only ever met divorced women
it's like best case scenario you're divorced worst case you're getting murdered yeah
it's literally like if you're a woman
you're either divorced murdered or being literally actively abused mentally and physically sometimes
i'm gonna say it i feel like a charlotte this episode because i feel like i'm not here
right because you want to get married you do want to get married well evan's parents are like
nice to each other they're like in love and yeah they're not nice but they're in love i just think
like happy marriages are the exception to the rule yeah and by far by leaps and bounds and usually
it's because the woman's deciding to accept less than she deserves of course well that goes without
saying it's because where i grew up everyone's still married or like a lot of my parents friends
are still married there's a lot of divorce in my town but my parents have chosen people that stay
married okay i think happy couples will attract happy couples well this is my other thing i'm
just like i wanted to be like i want to ask these i want to ask when's the last time you had sex
well have you sacrificed more than you thought you would have are you happy like i want to know
those things yeah and i don't think most people are willing to answer them honestly i think okay
i can answer for them because you were there last time they had sex you're holding the camera for
their only only family you've been in the house when my parents have been sex what yes i've had
the night that i was throwing up the lemon chicken they were fucking upstairs they served
her bad lemon chicken like we'll keep her busy they poisoned her that's beautiful that's beautiful
i think what it is it's like they present dysfunctional and that way they can stay
together like they are they're always at each other's necks but oh which is such a great way
to live it's a beautiful it actually is because it's everything's out there yeah i've seen all
their fights okay yeah that's cool yeah yeah my mom does the other thing where she bottles it up
for about eight years and then one day she just really lets it go and um i love to do that as
well so how long have we been bottling like
i'm like i'm surprised i haven't yelled at evan on this trip yet but i feel at peace
At least this time.
Yeah, it was really quick.
Do you otherwise not like L.A. very much?
I lived here during COVID-19 and had a bad time, obviously.
But I will say this entire week, I'm like, no, this is nice.
I could totally adapt to this lifestyle.
This could be a way to live.
It's so interesting.
In New York, you guys do like eight to ten things a day.
We do like one to one and a half things a day.
And it feels like we progress at the same rate.
I'm glad you feel that way.
Behind the times over here.
Wait, okay, so sports night.
Yeah, yeah, we have to.
Okay, well, sports night is over.
Now Carrie's neat.
Sports night is over.
Well, Samantha runs into a man and she does this.
I love this trick because I like to do this too.
I like to play pool at bars and always pretend.
I know how to play pool.
But every time I go to a bar, I'm like, how do you do this?
And you make someone teach you.
Oh, my.
Oh, it's the best trick ever.
It's so fun.
Because they have to hold you and help you.
Of course.
And every time I get worse at it throughout the night, I'm like, oh.
You have to stick up your ass.
You're like, is this where it goes?
Like, you have two of the balls in your mouth.
Oh, my God.
Because men want to help.
Men want to help.
They know they don't want to help.
They want to tell you how to do something.
They want to, like, explain why you're inferior.
Yes.
And I'm down for that.
Yeah, so Don Siegler, the guy that Samantha's pursuing,
loves keeping the price of international labor down
and the net worth.
Yeah.
And Samantha's like, okay, great.
Men weren't really in women's handbags at this time.
It was like a male-dominated field was the production of female handbags.
That's true.
That is true.
That's an interesting thing to think about.
You're saying men created female handbags?
Is that what you're saying?
They both created, and they were behind the supply chain of it as well.
When you. It was not a female-dominated field, this female-dominated product.
I'm just sorry not to work on my pockets.
Men in women's fields.
Well, I mean, I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
All handbag salesmen were men.
I mean, the best ones in the country were in the 70s, 80s, 90s,
because they have a latent sex appeal,
and they would go to these women's houses and sell the bags right there.
Why do you know this?
I'm an active listener.
Seems like none of your business.
Evan knows a lot of this stuff.
Does he really?
Yeah, he always is teaching me things.
Wow.
Kind of like a man.
I'm not binary.
Just put that out there.
It is like when I found out Victoria's Secret was that a man ran it,
I was devastated.
Of course.
All these. Amazing places for women were invented by men,
and every time I'm like,
fuck you, man.
They got me again.
Got my ass again.
You rip your bra out.
Yeah.
I'm like. Even Derek's saying Miranda's space in this world,
because she has this sexual tease with a man across the aisle.
Miranda's storyline in this is deeply upsetting,
because it is like,
you know when you think the person's waving to you,
and they're waving behind you?
It is like that to a million degrees.
No, it's like,
what if we. What if we made this the worst case scenario ever?
Literally.
No, no.
Ugh, the rejection.
No, having niche internet fame,
where you're like,
where like,
people don't,
you don't really,
people like,
sometimes know you,
sometimes don't.
Yeah.
But when they do,
they're like,
you're always like,
you're always primed for it,
because you're like,
what the hell's going to happen next?
Totally.
And now I'm,
it's like,
it's,
that's always the situation where like,
someone's waving,
I'm like,
oh,
they love my Bethany Frankel recaps.
Well,
do y'all ever have this?
Someone comes up,
and they're like,
they just know you.
So I just like,
pretend like I know this person.
Oh, absolutely.
And then like,
Miranda,
I show them my boo.
Your nipple's already out,
girl.
And then you realize,
they're cruising somebody below you.
What the hell?
That is devastating.
I know.
Also pre-Grinder world,
two gay guys just trying to find love
in a hopeless place.
I know,
can you imagine,
before Grinder,
you're just like,
opening window curtains,
and you're like,
what do we got?
What do we work you with?
And you,
for a second,
you think Miranda's a guy,
because we're Bob,
and then you're like,
wait,
wait,
wait,
FML.
Oh,
that redhead.
Redhead.
Okay,
let's talk about Carrie meeting Seth
at Dr. G's.
So,
the number one reason to go to therapy
is because of the hot patient
before you go getting out,
and you can be like,
oh my God,
like,
he was just telling that woman things,
and I'm about to tell that woman things.
I like Dr. G's.
We should have this for our guests,
honestly.
We should bring toys
to distract our guests' minds,
so we can really get in there.
Because she's presented with,
it looks like a Jacob's Ladder of sorts.
Oh,
I didn't even notice that.
Yeah,
she has a-
Is she playing with it?
Yeah,
she's playing with a toy,
and it was actually all around Dr. G's office.
There's little toys sitting everywhere.
That's kind of EMDR before EMDR.
It is.
Have you done that?
No,
I don't believe in it.
I'm kidding.
It changed my fucking life.
Really?
Yeah.
To me,
it doesn't,
okay,
I said it,
I don't believe in it.
To me,
I'm like,
how could that possibly work?
I know.
it must.
It's the kind of thing where you're like,
there's no way this is going to work,
and then all of a sudden,
something that kept you up at night for 20 years,
all of a sudden,
you're like,
wait,
that thing is gone.
I don't think about that anymore.
Wait,
what the hell?
And then you move to New York to follow your dreams.
You're at sports night with the girls.
Yeah,
literally.
Doing a tight five in between each act.
Anything can happen.
You got it.
Not for the EMDR.
Not act.
You're doing acts.
But,
so,
she wore a new dress to charm Seth.
It worked,
and then Seth's like,
this is-
He's a photographer.
I like her interaction with Seth.
Sorry,
I just want to talk about the therapist scene a bit here.
We'll get into it.
Well,
actually,
it's very cool to show the therapeutic methods
that are employed here to open Carrie up.
Like,
actually leaving space for Carrie to answer her own questions,
which we see so oftentimes in her own conversations with her friends,
where it's like they are so actively participants,
and we all are with our friends,
and I think this is a common mistake we all make.
So, we're always wanting to like-
You should let them talk.
We should let your friends talk.
We're always trying to prescribe advice.
Mel Robbins, let them.
Well, this is why I'm always on my phone when I'm with my friends.
So, they can just talk,
and I can scroll,
and we can get to the bottom of it.
Sometimes I'm like,
I'm listening,
and I'm a better listener by playing Yarn Fever,
as you tell me.
For sure.
Or looking at my own reels.
It's different for everyone.
And those insights.
My own reels.
Yeah.
Well, we all have friends where-
Do you have friends where you call them because you want to talk,
and you have friends where you call them because you want to hear someone else talk?
I don't find myself actively seeking that out,
but I do subconsciously know that I have a few friends who are great listeners,
and a few friends who I need to go with the bandwidth to listen.
Yes.
Yeah.
I have my friend that I call when I want to talk,
and then my friend when I want to hear them.
Yeah.
That made a lot of sense.
It did.
It really did.
The lion's share.
I also like, this sounds so crazy.
I do have a deep well of peace most days.
Oh, my God.
Your hair used to be brunette, and then you found inner peace.
Being in LA, talking to these guests here,
you're like, I have a well of peace.
I just wake up and feel calm.
You seem calm, though.
I am pretty, yeah, I am.
I actually low-key, I'm like, okay, he discovered the meaning of life,
but he's not telling us.
You know, it's, I mean,
in one word, it's gratitude, I think.
You're like, it's actually two eggs over medium.
And a little molly every morning.
But, yeah, I don't feel like I have to unburden myself very often.
Right.
Do you know what I mean?
I love that.
No, I don't.
I can't even imagine.
The hell are you talking about?
I mean, yeah, I think life is a lot easier than we make it.
But I also, from my perspective, think-
Let's cut to the second break.
Yeah, I know.
This is getting, like, off.
Like, it's not even off topic.
It's, like, in a weird back room.
No, I like it.
I actually truly do.
It's important.
We've never had somebody at peace on the podcast.
Yeah.
You gotta tell us everything.
It's so funny.
You know.
The listeners wanna know.
I mean, for me, it's like, also, it's getting older.
It's being sober.
I, like, participate in my sobriety all the time.
So I'm, like, helping other people.
And so, like, I'm seeing, like, how tough life can be.
And that's who I compare myself to.
So I don't, like, look at the people doing better than me.
I look at the people doing worse than me all the time.
And I feel, like, hilarious.
I gotta try that one.
I mean, I think it's the only time it's okay to compare yourself to someone.
It's when you're comparing yourself to someone who has less.
Aren't you supposed to be comparing yourself to you yesterday?
Bitch, she had less.
Actually, she had one more can of Celsius than I did.
But, yeah.
No, I know.
And then it's, like-
Like, am I in physical pain?
No.
Awesome.
Or are my friends and family and loved ones, like, in danger?
No.
Awesome.
Yeah.
Do I have my bills paid this month?
Awesome.
You're so Maslow.
Huh?
Oh, Maslow.
Oh, yeah.
Hierarchy of needs.
Did you, like, do the artist's way?
Or what about-
I've, like, most people started the artist's way about three times.
No.
I always tell people, like, Julia Cameron only wrote the first half and no one's caught her yet.
It's so funny.
Yes.
The back half is just blank pages.
It's, like, got your ass.
No one's caught her.
But what I did take away from artist's way was obviously artist's date because who doesn't
want to, like, take yourself to get, like, a pedicure unprompted?
Yeah.
I also like doing things by myself.
Me too.
But the thing about doing the artist's way is, like, oh, I go on about three artist's
dates a day.
I was already doing all that.
Yeah.
This is an artist's latte.
Yeah.
And this is an artist's shoe.
So you get to call it, like, something meaningful.
Yes.
And I'm like, well, I have to buy lunch.
It's, like, part of it.
It's part of the journey.
I also was really good about morning pages, free writing, like, just journaling, like,
whatever and that felt like skimming
the pool for like gunk before
like get these thoughts out anyway well Carrie
needs that Carrie you think as a writer
she'd have some mental clarity she's always talking about
her friends instead of her yeah I think that's part of the problem
yeah she doesn't spend time
there's no
there's no self analysis she also has
main character energy which is ironic
because she's the main character but
but she has it as a person
is she the main character because she has
main character energy does she have main character
energy because she's the main character
this is a huge conversation surrounding
Katniss Everdeen in the Hunger Games
because they're like
is she always winning
because she is the main character
of the series or is she winning because she's the fucking
goat I think she I want to
believe she's the goat I want to believe she's the goat
but Carrie is not okay
Katniss is goat Carrie is loser vibes
well you know what the winner is theory what is that
like when you win you have a much easier
chance of winning your next battle I believe that
yeah so winning compounds
like once you have one win you
accelerates into continual wins this
also aligns with like manifesting where
it's like if you can step into the
reality where you are a winner everyone
around you starts to see you as a winner
and so like subconsciously even they're
like oh this is the guy to beat oh my
god he's unbeatable like
wow yeah you're suddenly snapping after
every word you're also screaming at us
you know what I relate to though
this guy that she hooks up with
played by Jon Bon Jovi is that true
now don't tell me that
who the hell is Jon Bon Jovi
a singer can we can we can we look that up
so Jon Bon Jovi is definitely a singer
of like the 80s and early
90s well there's no reason you
two should know I only know
because I'm like elder
okay it is Jon Bon Jovi
he appeared in this episode yeah
so he's like a rock he's kind of like a rock
star he's amazing
his son created Hampton's water
thank god what were they drinking before
then
oh I relate to this because part of my
singledom is that I do
I am someone who loses sexual interest
once I gain intimacy with someone
you're fucking Seth
yeah oh my god
it's not that fast but it is very real
well that's like yeah like men love the
chase so once they catch the prey it's
like well
once they get the lion's share they're
out of there
eating the lion's ass yeah they are
putting that girl in the shed I swear to
god
yeah it's just that thing of like also I
feel like I was raised by like
maybe app culture like uh hookup culture
where it's like
I've put sex and intimacy into kind of
like different categories where it's
like
I get intimacy all the time from my
close friends and like
I feel deeply connected and I can touch
and hold and like
be I can caress people but then like
sex is something like
very different right but I mean that's
also gay
a little bit I understand I feel that
way too
I think that is gay
clip it clip it just her saying I think
that is gay
it is like Carrie refusing to learn
anything or reflect and
Dr. G just going silent being like you're
gonna get there and her freaking the hell
out because she's like
no one's ever not replied like
yeah and her realizing like but also
dr. G being like the common factor in
all these relationships is you it's like
well she's the patient yeah yeah that is
how this works that is like an outdated
thing that went around in like the mid
2000s the like oh the only thing all
these things have in common is you it's
like well yeah duh I'm the center of the
world in this situation I do believe in
that theory though you do I we often see
our friends fall into it's the same trap
yeah the same trap the pattern of it all
and they go why do I invite all these
bad people my life it's not that they're
inherently doing anything wrong but the
pattern is that they're not maybe
discerning they're not learning they're
not learning right Carrie has this
similar issue where I mean she is doing
things wrong but also Carrie refuses to
learn from her past mistakes and she
continually finds herself in situations
where she's being completely neglected
and then she enjoys the pain right the
whole premise before this is episode
that she talks about how she is a
masochist because she enjoys the pain
that the relationship of her being
together is and she's familiar with the
pain and we often find ourselves turning
back to the devil you know exactly
because that's that's where we know
ourselves and part of the process is the
acknowledgement of it and this is the
episode where Carrie gains acknowledgement
of this pattern which is a reason for
the last few times her big had to break
up it's because she
was so blind to her own weakness yeah I
am deeply moved by that and the show
really like even the Charlotte line when
we were talking about earlier it's so
simple or sorry goes my whole family
like we played tennis to get through our
pain instead of actually physically
processing it there's so many small
moments that reflect our own human
experiences it's really visceral ways
that we're laughing at the same moment
we are actually compounding our own
human experience and I
that's a comedy at its best in my
opinion and this show delivers it like
hand over foot where we are both like
laughing based off casual human
observation but also because we are
confronted with our own emotional truce
which I mean that's why the show
continues to have relevance because it's
still a show that points out so much
human error and such a in like a fairly
satirical or over-the-top way but just
it's so often overlooked and I don't
you feel like when we were like when we
first taught English everything is about
like the inherent meaning of what the
sentence is like what are you taking
away from it and now TV I think is so
centered around the content of
entertainment and like getting to laugh
are you delivering like a compelling
story how are you pushing a narrative
continuously but the show is not
dictated by narrative it's fairly
episodic while still having continual
plotline and I I really like I really I
love this show because it allows itself
to take his time while telling you a
message hmm and that's I think it was
program lay that Carrie learned this
episode that she's bad at picking them
and we got to see that play out through
a game of Twister oh my god I forgot
I'm playing Twister was like the hottest
shit I've ever seen it's also there's
like a popular gift right now where
Carrie walks into her own apartment and
it's like and it's this scene and
I saw her do it and I was like it's an
outfit she is the Fendi bag the baguette
or it has the and it has the flowers yeah
and then the purple top with the yellow
pants yellow shorts it's one of my
favorite outfits honestly I mean every
episode like this one I hear out I get
carried away with how fantastic they
dress it the they dress in this show now
when the Twister turns into making out I
said this is fucking hot this is fun
this is what the movies are about yeah I'm
I miss it I feel like things aren't that
cute anymore oh and Carrie's the best line ever where
they're doing Twister and she goes yellow
pants on floor great writing inarguably
good in no time it was yellow pants off
you sound like her oh thank you that is
great they hook up no worries the thing
that Carrie's always doing though is
finding out the answer to something
right after the sex so it's like she's
a clarity girl yeah so she hooks up with
him they've just nutted whatever and
then she's like so why you what are you
yeah she's like so what are you what's
wrong with you which I I as a writer I
take issue with because it's like
wouldn't that be one of the first things
you talk about if you have this thing in
common yeah yeah but they are gonna do
that and so then of course I mean it
always happens in this show so they can
introduce a new guy next episode with a
new topic but it is so annoying to me we're
just like I should have asked him a
little sooner because it's also it's
emblematic of the times that talking
about oh yeah you don't talk about that
yeah you're right it's like it's all
between you and your therapist it's just
keeping HIPAA alive I'm just like and
then Samantha we're so excited for her
journey because the Knicks win so she's
like I'm gonna have sex then then this
guy is like and now it's time to watch
the Mets and it's like okay this is the
same thing again and Miranda's like I'm
gonna talk to the guy I've been flirting
with and he's like I'm cruising the gay
guy under myself in the mindset of that
guy it's like that's your favorite team
winning after losing and then you get
the fuck a hot woman that must feel
amazing for men like go through the the
winds and falls and then that also
dictates your sexual schedule that feels
gay to me though like his bros like do a
good job so you can get hard yeah yeah
and then he's like I got to check in on
my other bros me mom Samantha's looking
hot and ready yeah she's literally little
scissors pizza over there what gay guys
you hang out with it they need you to do
well to have sex right oh my god that is
not happen to me do whatever they want
wait my emotional calendar should we cut
to our second brain yeah okay there's
like a very good and what this finish
well we kind of talk about everyone yeah
this is a really easy episode yeah
actually you made it really easy really
yeah oh good good yeah it's because
you're relaxed and at peace like don't
Don't read me.
Don't, don't.
No, suddenly I'm like, wait.
I'm going to take my shoes off.
You should.
What does Audrey Hilbert say?
You went, no.
You didn't bring that many socks.
I'm going to put my drinks up because drinks up now.
There's so many lines in her songs.
What does that mean to you?
Where I'm like, what is she saying?
It's like Chapel Roan being like knee deep in the passenger seat.
And everybody's like, what?
I think that makes sense to me.
Wait, that makes sense because I think they're on the floor of the passenger seat.
Famously, Chapel Roan was asked this.
And she's like, I don't know.
It never made sense to me.
Okay, still iconic.
Yeah, still iconic.
We have to tell her what our music means.
That is so kind of us.
Yeah, okay, we're going to cut into our second break.
And now we're back.
And now we're back from the second break.
Zach Noe Towers, we have a really fucking important question to ask you.
Oh, no.
Oh, did we talk about the bed?
What bed?
Where he turns.
I really think that's an important sequence.
The end of it where they have sex, the copulation.
And then he goes.
I lose interest in.
I lose interest in women after I have sex with them.
Yeah, we talked about that.
We did, but I don't think we gave it enough emotional time.
No, no, no.
And then she turns away from him, doesn't she?
That is a crazy thing to say with your nut in someone.
It's so psychotic.
Could you imagine?
I can't imagine, unfortunately.
I've met guys.
But what side are you on, girl?
Wait, are you all dating in L.A.?
Like, while you're here, are you?
We've been doing so many podcasts.
We share a bed every night.
Oh, cute.
I would.
I would if I've had a day off of this stupid craft.
I would, of course, be out there.
I think I've chosen to love to do it with my life.
We're right by Dodger Stadium.
Oh, okay.
And we're leaving tomorrow.
And all we're doing is Dodging Dates, okay?
Hell yeah.
I'm just like, I don't think any L.A. guys would like my whole deal.
That's not true.
I have so many thoughts.
They don't really tend to like those here.
I feel like we're a little more thought-based than.
You're being a bitch.
Yeah, you are being a bitch.
Sorry, I tangled up.
No, no, no.
But I also.
I also understand that, like, L.A. does have the fickleness going for it.
Yeah.
I mean, the entire time I lived here, people were like, you should go to New York.
And then I found out they meant I'm annoying.
No.
Where they're like, she has so many ideas she wants to talk about.
And I do remember my first month in New York, I'm like, oh, people are, like, really saying stuff.
In L.A., it's like catching a vibe.
And there, they're like, do y'all ever think about blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
Well, you really have to be a survivor to make it in New York.
Yeah.
You can float around L.A. a long time.
Right.
We got a lazy river right here.
Mm-hmm.
Okay.
So, an important question to ask me.
Yes.
Zach Noe Towers.
Girl, what girl are you?
Samantha, I think.
Really?
It makes sense.
Because blonde.
Well, because blonde.
And she's very sex positive.
She's very, I don't need a man.
She's very, I get what I want.
Right.
And you were saying, like, sex is sex.
And then you get all your emotional needs met by your friends and community.
Yeah.
And I'm not saying that's necessarily, like, the healthiest thing.
It's the thing that's been working for me.
You know?
I also, like, I have a tough time compromising when it comes to, like, relationships.
And I feel like Samantha's kind of that way, too.
She's like, well, honey, you can't, you know, get hard every night.
You know, you're out.
God, you're a spitting image.
But, yeah, I just, like, I found her fun and inspiring.
And I find her fun and inspiring now.
When did you first watch Sex and the City?
I mean, when it was, like, coming out, I think.
When did you first know you were Samantha?
When it was first coming out.
No, I'm kidding.
I obviously thought I was Carrie.
Ever since I was a little boy, I knew I was Samantha.
Do you two answer what you're?
Yeah.
Yeah.
What girl are you of?
You're Charlotte.
Yeah.
Well, this episode, again, because I haven't felt heard.
No, I'm just kidding.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.
I'm kidding.
They love tennis.
I think this episode, probably Carrie.
Why?
But I'm working through it.
I'm working through it.
Because I, like, I react to my own emotional pattern.
Even if I can recognize them, I have a hard time always avoiding them.
I think that's a lot of people.
That's a lot of people.
But I do relate to her.
And who doesn't love Twister?
Right?
That's how I feel.
I have all the classic board games.
Oh, do you really?
I don't really love games.
Really?
But that's what they do.
We had you on Twister.
What is podcast thinking you love games?
Not physical games.
Isn't that, like, game night?
It's, like, big here.
Is it?
I mean, I guess people play games.
You have so many conceptions of LA that seem not to be.
I know.
I keep telling you about your town, and you're like, not even a little bit.
Not even a touch.
You know, I'm trying to think.
I feel like games are also on the East Coast, maybe.
Yeah, but here it's, like, Kristen Bell's inviting me to game night.
Okay, so, yes, it's, like, house gathering.
Yeah.
And in that way, games are present.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, girl, what girl are you?
So, I'm going to go ahead and be Miranda, because I am always flirting with gay men.
And being, like.
They're talking to someone behind you.
Why is my love life so.
It's, like, girl, you put all your emotional energy into the gay guys.
One of my gay guy friends literally told me once, like, tipsy, like, you just keep collecting them.
I, you know, I'm going to allow it.
Thank you.
I think, ultimately, it's, like, the better.
It's an investment.
Right?
If I'm going to accidentally cruise anyone.
Yeah.
It's going to be.
It's going to be me.
It's going to be me.
So, I'm Miranda.
And for that reason, I'm Miranda.
Okay, we have one more segment.
Are you ready for this?
Yeah.
It's time to get carried away.
Well, don't be a bitch.
I'm not being a bitch.
I'm just being myself.
Oh, God.
This is where we each share.
This is where we each share something we are really floating away on.
I am getting carried.
I am getting carried away with, I'm actually, and we were going to talk about board games,
but I really am in a board game part of my life right now, but I don't need to introduce
it.
It's, like, actually a solitary board game existence where I'm finding online community
and playing games.
That's great.
That could be where you meet the guy.
Yeah.
Guy.
They're mostly in India, I will say.
Okay.
Well, still.
I can figure it out.
We can't.
I don't live in India.
This is why when we were at the Chick-fil-A right next to John Wayne Airport, you said,
let's steal a board.
Let's steal a board game from here.
Yeah, I love board games.
Well, that's reparations of sorts.
Yeah, right.
I didn't think about that.
No, yeah, yeah.
I love, I've been playing a lot of chess.
It's such a, you know, board games, I mean, there's a reason that they stood the test
of time.
Well, yeah.
Yeah.
Physical media.
Physical media.
It's back.
It's back.
It never left.
It's also a wordless experience, but you still are having a sort of conversation with someone.
So, playing these online games, I'm feeling connected to other countries in a way I actually
haven't.
This is how people feel about, like, watching the World Cup is how I am playing online chess.
Oh, that's beautiful.
Yes, yes.
I love that.
Yes.
You need to learn a lot of flags because they don't tell you the countries, they just show
you the flags.
Oh.
Yeah.
And you're like, Claude, what flag is that?
Claude, can you play the next move for me?
No, there's AI built into the chess game already.
Oh, my God.
I know.
How do you even know you're playing with a person?
You know, you're playing with people, but afterwards the AI can be like, you did the
wrong move here, you dumb bitch.
It's so fun.
Wow.
Oh, my God.
What are you getting carried away with?
So, basically, I'm going to go ahead and get carried away with these girls.
After episode back to back to back to back, I am so fucking tired of these ladies, hooking
up with them and then finding out the question.
You're hooking up with them?
No, they're hooking up with these guys and then they're, like, immediately finding the
thing.
Right after.
You know what I am mad at?
I'm mad at the structure of sitcoms.
Oh, sure.
And we just keep picking up and dropping off these guys.
It's also not fair because I'm looking at this show and I'm like, oh, my God.
I'm like, new guy just got his SAG card.
New guy just got his SAG card.
No women are getting their SAG cards.
I love Amelia.
This podcast is a sitcom.
I'm like, every week, Amelia's like, I can't fuck a guy.
And then I'm like, yeah, that's awesome.
It just pisses me off.
My parents were Christians and they're divorced.
Can the girls just, like, pick up a man and keep him for a little while?
Don't they ever float a guy a few episodes?
Yes, they do.
Yeah, but it's always, like, it always ends with, like, oh, my God.
Like, they get the ick from something, like, slapstick-ish.
Oh, sure, sure, sure.
Amelia hasn't seen all the sex in the city, but it's, like. Like, he wears a thong.
Yeah, and they're like, oh, he's done for.
And it's like. Cancel my tapioca.
Literally, I was like, y'all were just obsessed with each other.
But what I will say is you have to account for when it was coming out,
it was, like, women talking about these things.
And it was separated by a week.
You guys are, like, watching several episodes in a row.
Yeah.
And, like, obviously, that's going to feel very monotonous.
You're right.
You're right, you're right.
Well, because they didn't know about the renewal schedule.
Like, they had all these fun premises, and the show does switch up.
And then we get into these more continual relationships.
Well, we're still in with this one, the interviews of random people on the street.
Yeah.
Which I don't like.
Wait, wait, wait.
No, I'm thinking of. No, there is in this episode.
Wasn't it also the girls used to do, like, break the fourth wall?
In HBO Girls?
No, no, no.
Oh, yes, they were.
Carrie, Samantha, it's like. Yeah, okay.
I don't like that.
Yeah, I don't want her to talk at me.
I want her to be her little doll.
I want to observe her.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I've had a few spontaneous make-outs.
Stop.
Yeah, I won't.
Oh, my God.
It's been electric.
Right.
One of them happened across the street at Sirius XM or something.
Yeah, I wasn't even thinking of that one.
Oh, my God.
But, yes.
Yeah, in the green room that happened, this guy was like, we should hook up sometime.
Which I thought was very bold.
And. I went to Beth.
came back and then made we I kissed him and we made out but then recently I was this is you two
I think appreciate this I was getting ready to fly from LAX to JFK in LAX I clocked this like
hot guy we were seated both aisle seats him one row back so I'm like turning to like to like crack
my back but we lock eyes again and then I'm making up reasons to turn around lock eyes he leans
forward he's russian and his name is ilia and he's a concert pianist and he's like i'm sorry your eyes
are just so beautiful his middle seat's open so he scooches over i sit in his seat we like have
like a 15 minute like talk kiss and then at baggage claim in jfk made out like teenagers
oh my god zach what isn't that isn't that fun he's here for a world cup no no no i was from
lax to jfk i was going to do stuff in new york three weeks ago and he lives between the two
oh my god that's like a they don't even make things that romantic in rom-coms i know and you
just follow up or um it was one of those things where he invited me to a show that week and i was
like oh i'll be with a friend is that okay and then he had to he had to rescind my plus one
so i felt bad like abandoning my friend to go to like his show but like we're still texting i think
we're both like bottom vibes but it was just like but this is the thing and this is about my deep
well of serenity or calm like i'm still juiced over like the make out at baggage claim right
like that like that's beating you was so cool and so like after that i was like yeah okay like
if we cross paths again cool but if not like we had a really like sexy moment
i feel like if that happened to me my entire trip in new york anyone i could get my hands on i'd be
like so guess what happened to me at baggage claim i was like that i was well i was like people like
how was your flight i was like actually really good heated rivalry happened to me to me someone
said online seated rivalry but yeah so um i'm open to and then like i had a show i opened for
fortune feimster on the road love love and i sell my merch after in the lobby of these theater shows
and it's stickers
and their donation base anyway this cute guy came up thought he's with his girlfriend best gal pal
hugged me kind of tight and we're taking a picture together i go this could be for our wedding album
and he goes oh yeah he and his friend linger made out with him after shut up everyone who left the
lobby you're unbelievable yeah that is so that is so smooth for the wedding album oh oh how do you
come up with that i'm pretty good at like being that made my heartbeat faster one time i was
standing after a show and
it's like uh this group of people people who were at the show were talking to me and one of the girls
it was a hot tall guy but i thought he was straight and um the girl next to him was like what hotel
are you staying at i was like i'm not telling you what hotel i'm staying at i'd tell him what hotel
i'm staying at big laugh big laugh laugh he dm'd me on instagram so what hotel are you staying at
oh my god he came over and like we made out and like rolled around i can't believe your life and
from a place of serenity?
Maybe.
It has to be.
It's kind of like a,
if you get good at flirting too,
you can start with
it's just a genuine compliment
to someone.
Yeah.
And then if they engage,
you keep engaging.
You're scaling the economy.
Do you have an improv background?
I actually make fun of improv
because I fear it deeply,
but I do find myself
very good at it.
Yeah, I'm like,
it sounds,
because improv is just flirting.
Yeah.
Wow.
Most of life is improv.
I'm terrible at improv.
Really?
I mean,
you should really just,
and I cannot express
the value of a good wing person.
Like, cannot.
There's a drag artist
in New York,
Laguna Blue.
She's a singing drag queen.
Her voice is incredible.
She does like Ariana Grande
cover shows where she just,
anyway,
we do gay cruises together a lot
and she's the best wing person.
Boy, David,
is just,
oh, look at these
cuties.
Like, silly, jovial.
And then, like,
we gas each other up
in front of the boys
that we're talking to
and they're like,
we have shows this week.
You should come.
You should come.
Oh, look at that.
Look at those abs.
Like, just very, like,
overtly funny and flirty.
Yeah.
And it, like,
always lands us suits.
You have to put it out there.
Yeah.
I know.
In, like, a non-threatening way.
That's my year
putting it out there.
Do it.
Yeah.
Toss ass.
Toss ass.
I'm so excited.
Good.

There's gay guys, too.
Hey, girls and gays,
they're my favorite people
walking the planet.
Gays will never tell you
if they listen to the pod or not.
They do it in much more cryptic ways.
They would not spit on me
if I were on fire.
But, um, I love them.
I'll love you
until you're ready to love me.
Wow.

Summary:
FAQs
The 'lion's share' refers to the largest portion of something, often used to describe how straight men take the biggest share of resources, like food or drinks, at events such as Burning Man or parties.
Men often feel compelled to help or teach, even when it's uncomfortable, because they may believe they are offering guidance or support, though this can come across as condescending or dismissive of the woman's own abilities.
The Twister scene symbolizes the chaotic, unpredictable nature of relationships and intimacy, with Carrie's immediate follow-up questions after sex highlighting her need for clarity and control over her emotional experience.
The podcast highlights how therapy, especially with a skilled therapist like Dr. G, helps individuals like Carrie recognize patterns of self-sabotage and emotional neglect, leading to greater self-awareness and personal growth.
The podcast points out that historically, men have dominated the design and production of women's products like handbags, reflecting broader patterns of male control over female-oriented industries.
The podcast humorously suggests that body swapping could be a powerful tool for resolving relationship conflicts, allowing someone to navigate emotions and decisions from a completely different perspective.
