Session 148: Daisy Edgar-Jones

The conversation blends personal anecdotes with cultural passion, centered around British traditions, music, and live experiences. The speaker shares a deep love for British culture—especially music like Oasis and Lily Allen, and events like Glastonbury—while reflecting on nostalgic childhood influences and the joy of shared experiences. A humorous story about a failed marijuana trip in Amsterdam underscores the unpredictability of youthful adventures. The discussion highlights the emotional power of live events, from theater to music festivals, and how they foster community and connection. It also explores the appeal of classic British cinema and the value of layered, character-driven storytelling in older films. The hosts express admiration for music biopics, particularly *Love and Mercy*, and how overlooked tracks can unexpectedly become hits. The episode concludes with a celebration of everyday pleasures—like a simple meal at Nando’s or a warm cup of coffee at Nero—emphasizing that meaningful moments often come from the ordinary. Throughout, there’s an underlying theme of authenticity, humor, and the enduring joy of living in the moment.

I'm so obsessed, cheers, I don't even want to put a case on mine. Why would you? They're light enough that you don't need one. I'm so waiting for mine to get set up. How long is it going to take? Is it restoring for my cloud? It's really hot. Do you think it's not like an iPad pro is it? I don't know if that has enough storage. This is why I'm saying like this isn't it? I don't know if you should have restored it from my cloud. How did you set yours up? I restored it from my cloud, but I got a new phone, remember? Your phone is so backed up. I've never seen a more backed up phone in my cloud. Okay. It's on my new phone, like not that many. What do you mean new phone versus all of those? Do you remember I got a new phone and I completely cleared it out and then I had to ask everybody what their number was. You don't remember this? No, you didn't do that to me, though. And you remember I couldn't share my location with anyone but you? I was about to say, and who did it work for? You. Because you wouldn't. You wouldn't give it up. No. I said, "Manny, you need to help us." Yeah. No way, wait. Oh, yeah. Tell them how much you love this sour poppy, okay? It is. I also feel like it's a great Halloween flavor. Because it's like sour apple. Halloween. I don't like Halloween. Do you like Halloween? It is my least ever holiday. Uh-huh. I would choose Thanksgiving and Christmas over and like Thanksgiving. I honestly, this is actually good for us to talk about. We are holiday grunches. It's not okay when we are doing a holiday together, immediate misery. But we miss it when it's gone. Of course. We wake up. I wake up on Christmas. We say, "Oh, the Christmas Grinch is here." You know what? That's what they say when she walks down the stairs. "Oh, the Christmas Grinch has arrived." Yeah. Every year it's something. Literally. Every year it is something. It is always actually like something that's worth everyone that we tell being like damn. Literally. Jake is, he plays all sides. You go and you, you're like egg on everyone else and you're like the evil, evil genius Christmas elf. But you love it. And you egg me on like no other. He'll like pull me into the bathroom like, wait, like, did you, is that, are you okay? I just, I don't know. And I'm like, "Oh, my friend, you guys." I'm like, "Yeah, wait, wait. Am I okay?" Like, I start freaking out. Okay. Why don't we do one Christmas without something happening? Well, I'll say, did, well, be like, wait, what, what was today? Oh, it was Christmas. It was. No, our holidays are the worst. How many holidays have we spent together now? You would think that like the older we get, the more mature we get, like, it gets better. Of course not. Of course not. We're just more self-aware. We still behave this way. You know, I leave a Alice voice mail every single morning. Mm-hmm. You're warm this morning. What was it? I'm so hungover. What Alice will do when I'm hungover is there is no one in this world. That will make me feel worse. I'm horrible. I woke up. I said I'm too old to be doing this. She swipes up. Bad. It's a joke. But be it hungover with you is we. What's wrong with me? Why? Why am I so evil? The fragile I was at that moment. You can imagine. It's just a joke. I did do that. I mean, the thing is, I don't realize the weight I have over me, like, on my actions. Like, that's so fucked up. I literally was like, like, you're having the scary and I'm like, yeah, that was bad. That was bad. I was not okay. Oh, God. That's funny. Well, tonight we have on Daisy Ager Jones, who you love. I do love her. She British. She's British. By the way, oh, yeah. What about it? Hey, the strokes, all Alice does is make fun of me for my performative music liking. It's ridiculous. She, like, what's a prime example? You're like him being pick me instead of saying, like, oh, my favorite artist is Taylor Swift. You're like, blah, blah, blah, blah. He's like, the strokes. And I'm like, oh, really? Really? Because like, who are you lying to? And then he's, he was saying for months, I'm going to see this concert. In New York. Oh, no. I can't do this. Sorry. Rejection will play. I can't do this because I'm going to see the strokes in New York. I'm like, oh, okay. So you're not going to know a single thing. He's like the person that is like buying vintage graphic tees. And like has no idea what he's wearing. Not. And you know how like people really hate those people, right? I do think we should see a way says when they're not comfortable. I love British culture. How much do I love British culture? You really do. I don't know what it is. You gravitate towards them. I love being in London. I love British people. I just die. Like they're your humor is so nasty and dry and just so unforgiving. Yeah. It's like to take it or not. So are you ready to go outside, face the light? This was wonderful. It's because of all right. Yes. It's because of our iPads. Eyes. Like. It's so good. It's so light. It is so light. You love normal people though, huh? I do love. Hey. Normal people wrecked me. Did it really? Mm-hmm. I was not okay. Wait. When did you watch it? Sometimes Alice will consume a piece of media that changes her life. Stopping hysterically. Didn't want to watch it with anyone else. Lily kept trying to watch it with me. I was like, I can't because I was a wreck. And look. By the way, then OG supporter of Saurpuss. Yeah. Me. You know, I get calls when I'm in New York. Can I go into your home and take Saurpuss? You know, your fiance swept up on my story of Brett saying, what the fuck is wrong with you? Why? We are scavenging. He said, he said, Alice and I have tried everywhere. We can't get anything. He's like when he was in Vegas, he went to go check when he was in the desert just now. He went to go check. Really? His whole family is like, we all bring us some more candy. I'm like, no, I can't even get the fucking candy. It's sold out, but look, for you. I didn't know if they were just, thank you. I didn't know they were just on display. No, no, that you can take this. Hi. Are we done? [LAUGHS] I love you, baby. I love you, baby. Enjoy the episode, Pussies. I love you. Welcome back, Pussies to Therapus. Tonight, we have on the star of the new adaptation of Sense In Sensibility out October 16th, the one the only Tasty Edgar Jones. Hello, hello, hello. Thank you for being, that was one of my best intros I've ever done. That was beautiful. That was amazing. Thank you so much. I do not know that the 1995 version was one of your favorite movies of all time. Oh my gosh. I mean, it is a perfect film. I think it really is such a beautiful movie. Have you, did you watch it growing up? No, the only version I've seen is your version. Really? Yes. Which you were fantastic in. Thank you. No way. Yeah. I think maybe because I'm British, it's such a, like, it's such a part of your life, like Jane Austin in all form. Yeah. So, that's wild. Yeah. I'm really bad with period pieces. Mm-hmm. I don't, it's tough for me to understand what everyone's saying. Whenever someone says period pieces, I think of, like, a period, and I think of Carrie, like, that's a movie about periods. Right, yeah. I'm like, I have to remind myself it. Is that movie about periods? Well, there's a, you know, a period scene at the start, like, you know. Right. Right. But you mean Regency films? Yeah. Yeah. I always forget that. Yeah. Yeah. But congratulations. Thank you so much. Thank you. What did it feel like when you got the offer? Oh, it's like, if you told me, like, at five, what would be your dream, dream, dream job? It would be to do a Regency Jane Austin movie with Working Title, who is one of my favorite production companies they'd, you know, gave us love, actually, they gave us Notting Hill, they're like, they gave us the Pride and Bridges with Kiria, and nightly, like, they are just so, such a, again, part of British culture. And then, like, it's, she's one of my favourite literary heroines. Like, I think Eleanor Dashwood is probably the most like me of any character I've ever played. She's a, a very sort of, um, introverted people pleaser that, um, has a lot of emotion, but is, like, quite, you know, able to govern it. And she, like, playing her was such a dream. Do you think you're introverted? I'm sort of like a mixture. I'm quite shy, but I, I kind of, that's why I love acting, because it's a chance to sort of be naughty and no one can tell you off or, like, be a sort of more confident version of yourself. Um, but yeah, I would definitely lean on the introvert scale. Where do you, where do you stand? I think I'm, I used to be, like, the biggest extrovert, but then when, like, when I started smoking a bunch of weed, I became like, really introverted and like, I didn't want to leave my house. In a good way? Kind of, like, I, like, I have my funniest bits come out of being high, but like, I, it makes me not, like, just like, want to, like, lay on the couch and watch TV. Do you remember the first time you go high? Yeah. I was at a party. I was 16 years old. And I, um, I, where I might have been 15 and I spoke to a spliff and I, like, coughed up along. And I, I don't think I actually got high, because they always say the first time you don't get high, but I remember the first time I greened out. What happened? Like I hit the pen to anytime. I was like 18 of my knees buckled in it. Have you ever been in a gristidies in New York? No. It's like this grocery store and my knees buckled in a gristidies and I fell to the floor, passed out. Do you remember the first time you got high? Yeah, it was not good. It was not good for me. I've actually told the story before on a podcast, but I went to Amsterdam because in when you turn like 16 in the UK, it's a big thing to go into railing and you get like one train ticket that takes you to loads of cities around Europe and it's a bit of a right passage. You just get sort of proceeding the more drunk in every location and then Amsterdam for me was like, oh my god, like weed is legal. I'm going to go and I'm going to have brownies and I'm going to have spliffs. So I had my friend Nazi went to this cafe and had a spliff and they give you like a menu and I was like, oh there's there's one called slagger Thor but it's got like four different strains of weed and in my brain I was like, oh that will be really like pure. That's like pure. Do you know it's just like, absolutely like what the nuns in California I'd watched a like a vice-to-emerge. Oh the nuns that grow their own weed. Yes, I was like, this is what the nuns are doing. I'm like, this is perfect, this is what we'll do. Anyway, I smoked the spliff and we were on the side of the canal and you know when you're high and someone makes random noise and it sets you off. So I think Nazi was like me or something like that. Anyway, it started laughing, she started laughing and then I wet myself and then I kept laughing because I'd wet myself. I was like, you didn't even realise I wet myself. So I was like, laughing, laughing, laughing and then I passed out and came to in an ambulance covered with like hot monitor ECGs and this poor ambulance driver was basically like, oh these fucking tourists. He was like, no one has ever died of smoking weed. He had a panic attack. You're fine. So anyway, I haven't really, I haven't really had it since. I would never smoke again in my entire life. It was so embarrassing. I was like, I can't believe I came to Amsterdam, had one spliff and ended up in an ambulance. But that's because the weed there is so strong. It's so strong. It's so strong there. And I was like, I'd never had any and like, oh, it's so crazy. I mean, it was just, and I shouldn't have had one with four different strains of weed as well. But I was like, probably like smoking like nothing's happening. Yes, yes. And like, you know, we're two, it was one massive spliff between the two of us and I think, yeah, usually it should have been shared. You know what I meant to ask you about? Well, you go to Glassenbury. Yes, have you ever been? No, I'm going for the first time next year. Yes. Oh my god. I need to hear everything about it. Oh my god. Oh, I'm so excited for you. It is my favorite place on earth like hands down. It's such a vibe. Like what? Like, but I heard like, it's like, you like, I have to rough it. Like you have, like you're like, you're being like, it's something so pure and amazing about like your first, sort of like, makeup wipe shower, where you sort of, it's amazing how quickly you become feral when you don't shower for a day. But everyone's kind of mucky and also my hair has never looked better than a Glassenbury. It's something about like the rain and the dew and the like mud. Also, Glassenbury's on these, they're on these specific like, I don't think they're called fault lines, but essentially it's meant to be a magical place. Yeah, yeah. And it feels that way. There's a sort of energy and a magic. And there's so many different like age ranges like there as well from like babies to like, people have been going since it began. It's, oh, I'm so excited for you. I haven't like started planning yet. But I know because they took, I wanted to go last year, but they took the year off. I know it's the fact, well, that isn't that pure. Yeah. They let the grass grow again. Oh, is that what they do? Is that why they take, they go one yes. Because it's on a farm and obviously like, it turns up the grass so much having all these people. So they let, they let the grass grow. Oh, that's beautiful. Have you got a Pinterest board of your like, like, festival looks? No, dude. Are you a Pinterest girl? Oh my gosh. But also like, for me, Alexa Chung and Kate Moss Glassenbury is like, okay, Moss Glassenbury is the pinnacle. So I'm always like, okay, how do I, how do I achieve that look? Oh, you've achieved it. Oh, thank you. You've achieved it. Honestly, Welles and like, oh, it's just, that was one thing I would say is that be prepared for either to be like, punishingly hot or, or completely like wet out. Because it's just London weather's crazy. Crazy. Yeah. It's either pouring rain or it's the hardest I've ever experienced in my entire life. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Do you have a favorite set you've ever seen a Glassenbury? That's a great question. Oh, Charlie X DX actually. Oh, I was so mad that I wasn't there for that. She was amazing. And I saw her twice at Glassenbury. I saw her like, 2021 maybe or 2022. And it was kind of before the brat era. And I remember like being in that crowd and just thinking she was like a full on icon. And then I saw her two years later come back and do her whole brat tour. And it was so amazing because like, she's so incredible. Yeah. And like all of like, Glassenbury, it was, it was crazy. We had to, we had to get there so early even just to get a space. So it was, it was wild. How long have you been going to Glassenbury for? Um, I think I went to my first Glassenbury in 2021. So I've only been three times. So you've only been after you became a public figure. Yeah. So you've never experienced it before. No. But do you find that like people like respect your space there or? No one cares. Like no, everyone's just there for the music and the vibes. Like it's, it's, it's quite fun for that that you're just walking around and everybody's amongst each other and also by that stage I've covered in mud. And I don't think I'm even right. Yeah. Have you been to Coachella? Yes. Since becoming like, do you do people leave you be or? Well, it's, it's a little different at Coachella because I think Glassenbury is more like everyone's together. Yeah. So everyone's on the same plane. Field bed at Coachella. Like there's different sections. And but I, yeah, I, I, you, I went to Coachella in college before this happened and then after and it is different. Yeah. You can't be like off your face. No. Well, I know. And also I so mad to me that in Coachella, there's drinking stations. We have to like, or that was where what happened when I went last time where you had to go past and and you could only drink alcohol and like specific zones. What? What? Is that was that another thing? It was that no, I mean, I'm sure you're right. That's information because I was like, oh, this is so different. For when, when I, when it was like, you had to be in this specific place to drink alcohol, you couldn't bring it out into the. That makes sense. Yeah. What year did you go? I went in 2021. It was a good year. It was a good year. I went like, it was Harry Styles and Billy Eilish. Oh, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Who else was there? Swedish house mafia. I think was there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. With the weekend. Mecha. Mecha. Mecha. Got to be brown. Got to be blue. Got to be violet, guys. Did you come up on like Lily Allen and like that type of music? Did you? Well, I like, I'm obsessed with British culture. Like obsessed. Oh, my God. Like beyond words. What's your, what's your like, what hooked you in? What my best friend, their entire family is British and they're like all gooners. So they're all like Arsenal fans. They must be happy right now. Yes. They're very happy right now. They all went to the game last weekend. So I'm obsessed with that. I'm obsessed with like sausage rolls and I'm right now. I'm getting into Oasis. Oh, yes. Oh, my God. Oh, I hope they go on tour again. I didn't get to start. Well, they are. They just announced that they're doing a show in Boston. We got a guy. Wait, should we? I mean, I would literally, I would pay so much money. Let's go see Oasis. I would love that. Let's go see Oasis. Oh, my God. Well, the most embarrassing thing happened. I was tried because the guy I liked sent me their album, what's the story morning glory. So I was like, listening to it and I sent him back. Like, don't look back in anger because I thought it was one of the deep cuts on the album and I went to go to the Spotify streams and I texted him. Like, have you heard of this one? No, I said, I said this the one. And then I went to the Spotify streams and my jaw hit the floor. That is so funny. I was absolutely mortified. Oh, my God. You're like, this one's quite good. Yeah, he was like, yeah, that's the famous one besides Wonderwall. Oh, such good songs though. No. And they have a new documentary coming out. Do that. I can't get enough. Like, I really, I love this sausage rolls in Oasis. So you're like, yeah, I'm gooners. So you're like sausage rolls, Oasis, gooners, Lily Allen, specifically the song LDN. Oh, I also have you, you know, the early stuff. Oh, my God. Yeah. Like the line in the wet, the fear. Oh, my God. Shit. Smile, Alfie. Smile, smile. I mean, she's just so funny and irreverent and like, I'm just, I love that this new album is so brilliant as well. Oh, it's amazing. Have you seen it live yet? No, but apparently it's incredible. It's like a theatre piece isn't it? It's, yeah, it's 40 minutes. She doesn't speak to the audience. She just performs the songs and gets off stage. I love that. I like it too. And doesn't she have like all the receipts? Yeah. She goes through the doing me back. Like, it's like, so good. No, she's awesome. But I loved her early stuff. Like, and I like that album. She's just too, but she doesn't like it. I don't think. Does she know? Would you have Alan? What would you have Alan? Lily Allen on the course, of course. I know. She's so awesome. And I was going to say other, like, other British culture things. Have you, like, watched Angus songs and perfect snogging? Have you watched Wild Childs? Of course, I've seen Wild Childs. A perfect movie. A perfect movie. They don't make movies like that anymore. They don't. Why don't they? I was thinking about this the other day. I watched this, I saw this TikTok thing where somebody was talking about the fact that, like, older movies of that time used to have, like, incredibly detailed and fun bit characters. Like, characters that came on did a bit and came off, but they were, like, really solid and interesting little funny beats. But I feel like now it's just, sort of, like, lead characters and then supporting, but it's not really. You don't have those, like, little cameos. You know what I mean? Like, in, like, parts of the Caribbean, like, there's this, there's, like, there's two, I can't remember their names, but there's two characters that, like, occasionally you drop in and they have, like, a little back and forth being like, oh, he's not. The back pole's not back. And they have, like, a little, like, bit. And it's funny and it's, sort of, not connected to anything. It's just a little, like, drop in. But if you look back in older movies throughout, there's always those sort of funny, like, for example, in Harry Met Sally when she's like, oh, I have what she's having. Like, these little, like, featured roles that are really fun. And I feel like, wild child is just full of all of those. Like, really and characters and all like, like Harriet. - Yes, yes. - Oh my God. - That's the Mean Girl, right? - Yeah, when she's like, think she's Kira Knightley and Pride and Prejudice. - Yes, yes. - She's like doing all of us. - That was good, that was good. That movie's amazing. - That's so good. - When she jumps into the ocean and her dad says, "I'm sending you away." - Oh, I got it. - It's honestly, I'm a Robert's. Like, that is my favorite role of hers besides AHS, American Horror Story cover. - It's a maze. Oh, also Aquamarine. That's her. - Oh my God, she was an Aquamarine. - She's so good in that. - When you were growing up in London, did those movies make you want to like, like did you enjoy American culture or were you fully immersed in London culture? - That's a good question. I mean, it's funny. I grew up on Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. I watched all of Hannah Montana and Wizards of Waverly Place. That was the TV I consumed. And my mom was such a huge fan of American musicals. So I watched a lot of meet me in St. Louis. I can't think of a single other one. But I watched a lot of like musicals. So it was a real mix. And my granddad was a huge Johnny Cash fan. So, and I lived with him for a while. So we had a lot of Johnny Cash playing, Dolly Parton. - Well, Johnny Cash, that's walked the line, right? - Yeah. - I've never seen it and I'm gonna watch on the plane tonight. - Where are you going? - New York. - What for? - Fashion week. - Who are you doing? - Who are you doing? - Does it? - Yeah. - Me too. - Really? - Yeah. - I'm so anxiety inducing. It's like, it's like the pinnacle of anxiety. It's like the most strange and crazy little blip of time. It's such a wild thing. - Do you remember your first show? - Gosh, yes. Yes, it was just before COVID. And normal people hadn't come out at that point. So I, it was a London show. And that was fun because I was like completely, a complete nobody. So I just sort of wondered him was like, "Oh my God." - Yeah, yeah. So I did what to expect and kind of just watched it unfold and was like, "This is kind of wild." But I mean, they are like little performance art pieces too, because the amount of time effort like from the sound design to the way the models walked to the clothes, obviously, it's such a, it's such a crazy thing for it. It's usually only like 10 minutes long and it's done. - I had no idea. - It's so mad. Do you remember your first show? - Yeah, it was Tommy Hilfiger and I sat down and I thought it was going to be like an hour long. - It's sort of like, it's like when you come too quickly, it's sort of like, "Oh my God." - But it's a weird environment because everyone's phones, you're being filmed at literally every angle. - Well, that's what makes me anxious. You're like, "If I have a bogey or I like, I don't know, like something goes wrong." Like it's so, you can't control it. It's sort of everyone, you have to be on the whole time. It's, it is wild and I think everyone also is feeling that kind of like sense of this is kind of strange. So I also feel like the energy of everybody else is a bit like, "Hello." - Yeah, yeah. - It's hard to, you don't necessarily have the most constructive conversations 'cause like everyone's sort of just like. - Everyone's on edge. - Yes, 'cause it's so wild. - Everyone's like also knowing that they're being filmed and like checking out their seat and like, are you going to Paris? - I'm not this time 'cause I'm doing a press tour for Sense, so I can't, I can't. But I went to a YSL show last time and that was really fun actually 'cause it was, the clothes were incredible and I was sat next to like two very lovely people. So I had some good chitchat. But I was so funny because do you find like whenever anyone, I never, 'cause people take out their phone to record, but I know, they always seem to do it in unison about like one particular line. - Oh, yeah, I've never known. - Yeah, I've never known with the piece. - Like, you know, this is the one. - And you always think someone's filming you and you're like, "I don't wanna be texting." And it's like, "Yeah." - It's all too much. I'm excited. I'm going to Calvin Klein, which will be cool. - That's really cool. - Yeah, I'm excited. - Do you have your Calvin jeans? What are you doing? - Yeah, I'm doing just the white T-shirt and jeans. So easy, but I'm like, I feel so bloated from all the traveling, it's like, past the point. - Yeah. - Yeah. - But I was gonna ask, your mom is a film editor, right? Or was a film editor? - She was, yeah, before I was born, yeah. - So does she ever have any input on the stuff that you do that normally you wouldn't pick up on? - It's funny, like, having an editor from other, like, she's got such great insight about what's useful for you to do on set as an actor, because I think like the more I'm doing this, especially, I realize that the film is made in the edit. It's completely made in the edit. And it can be completely changed. And so actually like the value of giving range and options and being playful, I mean, you have to place a lot of trust in whoever's editing it and shooting it. And that I find hard sometimes giving over that. Like, yeah, just sort of hoping that they, especially with something like comedy, it's so again, like comedy beats and all of that's rhythm and that's in the cut. So she was always really amazing about like, you know, give options, give range and her taste in movies. Like I grew up, she just loves films. So I grew up watching so many great movies. Like I remember like being really young and her showing me like the network or all the president's men and these like incredible movies that I like, a very young age was, you know, understood. And so I think I'm so grateful. My dad as well gave me such a great sort of like, history of film. And when did you start to pursue acting? I got into the National Youth Theatre, which is like a big company in the UK when I was about 15, I think. And that was when I sort of met other actors and learnt about drama school and learnt about agents. And I sort of just was like, I'm gonna act, but I didn't really know how that works. But I always loved it. It was the thing I was best at. And so that was a really great gift 'cause then I did loads of plays and theatre in like my teenage years. And then I got my agent through National Youth Theatre and then that's kind of what set me off. - And then more people. - Yeah. - And the normal people. - And what was it like for that to come out and explode during a time when the world was shut down? - It was such a strange experience. Like it was strange because COVID was so strange for us all. But then there was so much of my life that continued to be different after it because I came in with, you know, my life one way and came out with it very differently. So COVID felt like a weird simulation where I was like stepping through a door of some kind and things just shifting. And, you know, but I always think that like, I'm very lucky that in some ways that normal people it's such a kind of intimate and quiet show. And it really required people to like sit down and take it in. And I suppose we sort of, it was kind of the perfect climate for it to come out in a way. - Yes. - You're all really horny as well. - Yeah. - So it was like, I need, you know, I need something today, so. You were so fantastic in that. I mean, you're fantastic in everything. But, you've also been in a lot of both films and television shows that have been adapted from books and stuff. That's an original screenplay. What's the difference in filming like something that's been adapted from written material or an original screenplay? - Well, it's like, there's a lot more pressure in a way because you were like, oh, you know, people have a love of the thing and have a love of the character and ideas. And, you know, when I get very attached the version of the book in my head, so I totally understand that it can be difficult for an audience to like, okay, accept the choices. But at the same time, I think what's so magic is that you get such a perspective on your characters in a life and you have such a wealth of knowledge to pull from. And I don't know, I think so much of it too is hoping that the filmmaker's sensibility aligns with the book as well. Like for normal people, I feel like Lenny Abrahamson as a filmmaker, he's got such an incredible way of portraying like an inner life on screen and he's a very sensitive filmmaker and it works so well for something like Sally's writing, which is so, you know, you really feel like you're in the character's hair. - Right. - There's no-- - Oh yeah. - It's a very intimate read, you know? So that's so much of it too is like, does this filmmaker tonally match the writer? So it's, yeah. - Yeah. - Oh. (laughs) - Thank you Seaky for sponsoring tonight's episode. (upbeat music) - Did you grow up on like skins and stuff? - Yes! - I just started watching! - Wait, that's so funny. Somebody else just told me they started watching. It must've like, it's so good. - It's kind of the blueprint. - Effie from skins is the coolest human being that's ever existed. - Yeah, you kind of like look like her. - No. - Yes! - Seriously. Yes! - I think you do, don't you agree? - What? - Oh my god. - You're like very similar looking to Africa. - That is an honor. I cannot tell you like that is thank you. - We were like the blueprint for you guys in high school. - I mean, I didn't do as many drugs as you can tell I don't have the, the-- - Right, well, if you did heroin. - Temperament, she did a cheat day. I think honestly it kick started boozing culture. Well, there was always boozing culture in the UK, but like that kind of sort of party like wildness. But when you look at the show, there's so many incredible actors in it. Like Jack O'Connor, Deborah Patel. Like, it's amazing. - Nicholas Hall. - Nicholas Hall, who I'm about to work with actually. - Oh, what do you guys about to do? - We're doing a TV show called Mosquito. But I'm such a fan of his from that and from so much. So I'm so like, it's kind of like-- - Is that like trippy for you to be like? - Yes, I just worked with Rob Patterson as well. And I was a die hard Twilight fan. So like, it was trippy. - Do you want to one day act in the YA, like otherworldly, like dystopian? - Oh my God, well, those were my favorite books to read. Like I was a huge fan of Hunger Games and Twilight. And like, I loved, there was a book called The Knife of Never Letting Go and like Percy Jackson. Like, I mean, those kinds of movies too. Like Pirates, The Caribbean, Harry Potter. And I love those big world fan seasons. Also, just like how fun is an actor that you get to where like, Elf is in a cloak. Do you know what I mean? Like that is the dream. So yeah, I mean, I'm reading all of Sarah J. Mas at the minute. - What's Sarah J. Mas? - Oh my God. - Okay. Have you heard of a Court of Thorn and Rose's? - I've heard of this. - Okay. - Is it that good? Is the she writes this? - It's, I can't even describe it, it's crazy. So a Court of Thorn and Rose's was where I started. It's, it's very porn essentially, but like, there's also like great characters and great plot, but it's quite like, sexy. - Yeah. - But when you read that, so the next two are coming out. And then, so I started the Throne of Glass series, which is like, different characters, but-- - I didn't know that was different. - Still a fade world, and apparently I've not finished it. Apparently it links with-- - Oh, that's awesome. - Then there's the Crescent City series. It's like the Marvel Universe. You basically have to read everything. - Are you a Marvel fan? - I do love a bit of Marvel. - I love Marvel. - You know, it's funny. I've gone back, I've started watching them all again. - Which, which one are you on? - I started with Iron Man one. - Right. - Then I did the incredible Hulk, the first one with Ed Norton. Then I did Iron Man two. Then I did Thor. Then I did Captain America. Then I did Avengers. Now I'm back to Iron Man three. I'm just making my way through. - Those are some, those talk about what I watched during COVID. I like literally ran through those movies. - Which is your favorite superhero? Which is your favorite film? - My favorite superhero is Wanda. - Okay. - I just think she's so fabulous. I think like Elizabeth Olson is like so fabulous. - I'm obsessed with her and like, I loved it. Did you see WandaVision? - No, I haven't watched that. - Oh my God. - That's what everyone says. It's incredible. - It's one of the best TV shows I've ever seen in my entire life. - Okay, fabulous. - And it's like a Marvel show. You would never guess that like this Marvel show is like, so it is so, I like, you saw that at the end of it. It's phenomenal. - I'm so excited because I want to do all the, and then I want to get, like I want to do it in like chronological world. So because I've never, there's a few, I've like my knowledge of Marvel's a little like Gappy. - Right. - This is why I was like, I've got to be thorough. I'm gonna start from the top. So I'm so excited to get to one of those. - WandaVision is that you have to watch WandaVision after, and did you see, have you seen that in game? - No, I haven't seen that in game. But then my boyfriend, like ruined something big. - Oh, what? - He was so angry. - Oh, well that's like an almost infamous spoiler. - I was like, for fuck's sake. - To be honest, the only reason I knew that (beep) is because no, but everyone knows because there's a really famous tweet. Someone was like, someone tweeted like something about Taylor Swift, and then a swifty tweeted back, like okay, since you want to be an asshole, like a (beep) in that game. - No. - Do you remember that? - No. - That is so funny. - It's funny and so cruel. - Yeah. - Oh my, I was like, fucking, he was like, I thought everybody knew that. I was like, no, I managed to stay out of it. - Oh, I mean, talk about spoilers. I got something spoiled for me. No, you've seen it in skins. - Oh no. - Yep, and I know you know what I'm talking about. - No, no. - Someone's like, tell me what you're like, can you believe blank, blank, and I said, "Hey, this is my first time watching." - This is why, honestly, if I can remain offline, just to live through spoilers, it's so difficult. It's so annoying. - It's pretty bad. Are you, what are you watching on TV right now? - What am I watching on Telly? I just watched Widow's Bay. - Amazing. - How good was that? - Amazing. - Like, such a specific, it's own tone in such an interesting way. - Scary and funny, which is so, so hard to do. - I'm like funny and I'm kinda like, oh, I just thought she was brilliant. - Yeah. - I mean, they're all brilliant. - The one, the introverted one. - Oh my God. - Yeah. - I just thought her performance was so incredibly specific and like, like, drummed in. I just, I loved it. - Oh, TV, Loki has bangershaws. - I totally agree. - Bangershaws. - Have you seen, um, uh, Mimumur, presumed innocence? Jake Gyllenhaal? - Yes, I did see that. - That was really good. - That one was good. I just, I watched, do you watch Silo? - No, okay, that's not, do I need to? Is that what you get? - It's really good. But basically, the first season is really good. The second season kinda takes a bit of a slump and the third season's album, "Rage S." - Okay. - And I love her. She's amazing. - Oh, she's also in everything. - Yes, I'm excited for Dune. - Okay, I've never seen Dune. - What? - I know. - Where have you been? - Under a rock. Like, is it that good? - I mean, well, speaking of, like, brilliant, franchise movies, like the ones we were talking about, like, you know, very different from Hunger Games and all of that. But like, I love those kind of like event movies. Like, I love big franchises. They're so much fun where you're all like tuned in. It's so brilliant. I mean, it's like such a great cast of young actors and of all, and all actors, but also just like, villainov. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - Yeah, I'd recommend. - Okay, I need to watch it. Right now I'm doing my music biopics, but I'm gonna go back to it. - What do you want with me? - Well, now I'm on "Walk the Line." - I love the YouTube. Like, yeah, that's quite horrible. - So you're like, yeah, and then the music biopic, like, oh, I become very hyperfixated. - I love that. - Yeah, very hyperfixated. - Do you have a favorite musical biopic? - Yeah. Love and Mercy, the Beach Boys one. Have you ever seen it? - That's brilliant with Paul Dana. - Yes, yes, yes, yes. - That's amazing movie. - Yes! - It's no joke, don't know how else to talk to about this. - It's so, it's so good I watched that during COVID. - It is amazing. - It's so devastating. - It's horribly cancerous. - Yeah, his life was unpolled in, like, Paul Dana. - He's, can do no wrong. - Can do no wrong. - I love him. - He's amazing. - It's so good. - Wow, yeah, I mean, and it put me onto pet sounds, which is like, one of the best albums of Paul Dana. - Oh, and these are, I think, when I grew up listening to Beach Boys, I think I thought of them as like, kind of like, and kind of like, but when you sort of, when you delve into his work and his genius and you were like, oh, wow, like, the music takes on even more of a meaning, I think. - I had no idea. Like, I thought the Beach Boys was just very like, like, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, but he's like, you in love and Mercy, you see him, he's like, like, like, putting these harmonies, like, in-bit, like, he's like, he, like, Brian Wilson, like, created, like, for those that don't know, like, he like created, like, new, like, legitimate new sounds. - Yes, it was so inventive. And so, I mean, also, what's the song, oh, my God, I'm now doing it. - God only knows. - That song is so beautiful. Like, and I can't believe that was Beach Side. - I know, no, I don't know. But I do know that in the movie, he plays, and there are like, no one's ever gonna listen to this, this is the most depressing song ever. - It's so beautiful. And I think it is Beach Side, I believe, that like, it didn't even make the A-Side, like, they didn't think. - It's so funny, most songs are like that. Most break out songs are like that. Like, Nicki Minaj really took off because Super Bass was a B-Side song. - No way. - Yeah, it was a bonus track. - What was her, like, pitch with A-Side? What was her, like, what did you come up with gay with? - I forget, but Super Bass was a B-Side bonus track, and it just exploded. - Wow. - And like, same with, I'm pretty sure, Chappell Rowne, the good luck babe was like-- - The, like, another just like, another-- - It's just like an off-single, and it blew up and exploded her. Like, it always happens with the B-Side tracks. - It's also really cool that, like, I think with today's world, that music can come out, not necessarily have its moment, and then four years later, can suddenly, like, catch on. Like, I was listening to her thing with Suki Watthouse, recently, and she was like, oh, I wrote that. I can't remember the song name, but she wrote it, like, four years before, and then suddenly, I have nowhere to go over in it. - Yeah, it's crazy. - It's a wild. - I love Suki Waterhouse. What's that song I love by her moves? Yeah. - Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. - She's so good live too. She's like, she has this wind machine. And because she looks like she's from like a different era, like the '60s. She's just like, she's the hottest thing since "Lies Bread." A phrase. - What are you listening to right now, though? - Ooh. Well, I'm in my like, I think, just because, I think I need some peace in my life. I'm in a very chill piece. - You're right with my music. I'm very into this singer called Jessica Pratt. - Okay, I've never heard of her. - She has this one song called like, she's, it's hard to describe her music. Her voice is incredible, but it's like quite like low fire and like, it's like perfect for like an autumn day. - Yeah. - Where you put it on with the fire and you're making like a cup of tea. It's very relaxed and cozy. And that's what I need. I've had my brat summer and I loved it, but I need to be chill now. - What was brat summer like for you? - I lived up my brat summer. I think I really took the assignment and ran with it. So it was maybe the best year of my life. - I think it was the best year of my life as well. - Something happened. - Yeah, and I look back and I was so much less confident back then, but I was having so much more fun, which is so weird. - That's interesting. - I know. shift what to suit you feeling now, you feel more confident? I feel a little more confident. I don't know what it was. I just, I think Brat Summer was like the first time I've ever had actual fun in my life. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like I was like, oh, this is like, we're allowed to like, go out and party and it's encouraged. Do you think? Because are we the same age? How old are you? I'm 26. Okay, so I'm 28. I feel like our generation was slightly like stopped by COVID in terms of the party in thing. Like I feel like I remember being 18 being like, I'm going to go clubbing, like that was, and then I feel like COVID obviously took away that ability. But then I also feel like coming out of COVID, like I felt very tentative about like it was very much like a full stop. It like cut the like cut the legs of it a little bit. So then people kind of had the excuse to be like, well, do you see how much better you feel without it? And it's like, yeah, but nothing compares to a good night out. No, and now I feel like I'm with you at the right age of 28, which feels like a little late in the game. But I'm like, it's good. I feel like now I'm starting to get my like, even just my, my like a capacity to stay out. Like I think I get really tired of like midnight. I'm like, bed, bye. Me too. It's so, I'm like, well, is that I'm meant to be young and alive? No, alcohol like exhaust me. I guess so sleepy. Me too. But also the curfew and L.A. is like two a.m. So there's like, I've noticed that it sucks. So London, you enjoyed. Oh, I, I should do the Uber ride. Yeah, we got at home at like seven a.m. Oh, incredible. It was awesome. London's the best I was about walking the streets of London. The sun was coming up. Oh, it's so fun. This is amazing. Oh, there's also a really great next time you go. There's a great, I can't remember the name of it. So I'll find it. But there's a great restaurant that's open all night. And you can like have like a really good quality yummy steak and eggs at like three in the morning after like so usually I go for a cabab. But it's like, if you're feeling a bit posh, you can have a steak and eggs at like three a.m. What's your favorite? Do you, are you a Wagamama girl? I do love Wagamamas. I'm a Nando's girl though. Okay, I've never gotten into Nando's. What? I don't know why I never, I never did it. I was always like, when I'm in London, I'm always like, I'm always eating Wagamamas like all the time. Wagamamas. Interesting. You should get into Nando's. I feel like I heard a fun fact about Nando's. They play quite intense music. So sometimes I find it a lot in there. It's very like high beats. But apparently they up the BPM rush hour so you eat quicker. So they get more people in and out. That makes sense. So when I'm in there, I'm eating quite quickly. But I like Wagamamas. I love the katsuya curry. Yeah, of course. What's your order? I like the the chili ramen. The chili ramen. And I love the fried squid. And they're on the Wagamama and they have one in New York. And it just doesn't compare to the one in London. Yeah, it hits differently in London. Oh God, London's the best. I love that you love London. I just love, I tell you, I love the culture. Like, I'm like obsessed with it. I want to dress up as one of the Oasis brothers for Halloween. Oh my god. Eat my sausage rolls. Like, and what do you guys do on Christmas? You pull the crackers? Yeah. Christmas crackers? Do you not do that here? No. It's so fun though. I know. And then you get really terrible jokes and like look over her and a terrible gift. But sometimes they come in handy, like a tiny mini just greater. Yeah. I love that. Could you could you live in London, do you think? See that, I don't know. Because when I've heard like when it gets to the dark days in London, like it gets really dark and twisted. It gets pretty dark. Yeah. It is, it is, it is, there's like a sort of February period that is tough. It's tough. Because it's just a sort of like incessant gray. Yeah. I like a bit of drama with the weather. Like, I like a season change. Like, I think a little shifty pops where you're suddenly like, oh, who am I in autumn? Now I'm wearing like sweaters and I like that kind of, I like a bit of rain. As a Londoner. Yes. What are your thoughts on caffeine, Nero? Oh my god. Okay. Do you know what? Great question. Because obviously we've got, we've got Costa Coffee, we've got Caron Nero, we've got Starbucks, we've got Pratt. You know, this is the like McDonald's coffee as well, obviously, but I, I would definitely lean Nero. I would lean Nero. Thank you. Thank you. Because me and all my friends were in London and we were like, we're obsessed with caffeine here. They had this like honey iced Americano and people were literally commenting, get the fuck out of London. No. Leave now. Like, go away. Like, how is this the coffee place you're going to? We were obsessed with that. No, I'm with you. I think Nero, I like that they can often, they sometimes offer you the blend. They're like, do you want a darker blend? I like to blend like I like. I never even knew that. Yes. Sometimes you have a blend choice. And I feel like, because I don't do dairy. So it's challenging to find like a coffee that is made with almond milk that doesn't taste like like a cigarette, like the like cigarette butts. Well, happy Nero has that. Yes. The iced honey Americano. It's good. It's almond milk. It's actually good. It's the best thing I've ever had in my life. Oh my god. I'm so I'm too happy. Again, you have to tell me if you like it. Okay. Also, I rewatch Twister's last night. Oh, did you? Were you blown away? I was blown away and I was wondering, how did you, were you just like, was it constant wind on your face the entire time? Literally, I think I storm slightly deaf in my left ear because there was so much debris and wind that was like entering from a sharp left. But no, it was, it was a windy shoot. But it was quite ironic because we were shooting in a gohoma and often would have to like shut down filming because of an actual wind storm. Right. To then recreate a wind storm once it's like past. It was a wild experience. But what I was confused about, I know this sounds so silly, but what is the, because when I speak to Glenn, he like, Glenn, you guys talked to like real storm chaser. We went on a chase. What? Yes, we fully went on a storm chase. Was it scary? So scary. Like, it was so fun because obviously we'd been pretending to play storm chasers and we'd like met with these guys. There was one guy, Sean, who's amazing. He's still like sends Glenn and I. Yeah, that's, yeah, that's what I was with. Glenn, the other we comparison, he was like, look at this storm. Yeah. When Daisy and I did. Yes, Sean will still be like, oh, by the way, there's like a crazy weather front coming of you like see yourself like coming through Oklahoma, like, hit me up. And like one day I'm like, as we didn't see a tornado, it kind of like began and then it didn't happen, which is often the case that like you chase and chase and it doesn't happen. So it's why it's such a thrill when it does. So I definitely want to go back. But no, it was crazy. We like drove across state. We drove into Kansas and it was like midnight and all this crazy sheet lightning was happening. And I remember there was like a hook on the doppler, which like signifies it's like beginning. And Sean was like, I think it's to our left. And I was like, wait, we're not filming a movie like this is actually happening. I was like, what am I doing here? And then it ultimately like didn't didn't happen. But we still saw the like gnarly us lightning and rain and then we drove back in like rain that was so dense that like it was essentially like just like full. Oh, and then when it's just like spinning. Yeah. And you can't see like we had to drive like so slowly all the way home and like me, Glenn and Brandon were just like fast to sleep in the back of the car. But it was yeah, it was amazing experience. Wow. Have you ever seen a tornado? No, never. Where did you grow up? I grew up in New York. Okay. But so the only tornadoes we had hurricane sand. That was our that was that was the big one. Yeah. It was like we go to school for a week. Yeah. And then miss Halloween because it was ruined by the hurricane. Anyhow. Tisee, what are you therapist about today? I'm pissed that I have to fly home because I'm scared of flying. Are you really? I'm terrified. And even though like I have to fly like everything like so much every single time I it's like this is the end. Are you a podcast person on a plane music? I listen to a calm app meditation that like tells me to breathe. And I will like grip the seat like every time we take off. I always have to text my parents and my boyfriend to say like I love you. Just in case it's the last time. Even if they're sat next to me and we're on the same flight. Like it's now become a thing I have to do. But no, I then try and watch loads of movies. What about you? I it depends. I I never listened to podcasts, which is funny because I have one. Really? Do you know? I know I never do. Do you listen to your own? No. Well, I have to to like give notes. But you're not just like on a plane being like that was a good episode. Well, the only podcast I listen to are true crime podcasts and I listen to them on planes and it puts me. Yes, it puts me to bed. That's every single day. Yeah, it's like I'm just like I'm like because because when I I've such bad ADHD then when I have to pay attention to something that makes me so exhausted. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I pass out. You guys, I'm not even doing this. I didn't even force her to eat these. She grabbed these herself and you love them. I absolutely love them. If I see a sweetie, I'm having it. Okay, can I can I show you the sauropaths? It would be an honor. Okay. Oh, they smell so good. I actually can't. Right? Oh my god, this shows all right. I love them. Whoa. Right? That's really good. It's not amazing. I'm taking these times. I will give you. We'll like we'll give you like a whole pack. Oh my god. What are the different flavors? So it's cherry that one strawberry. Interesting. That one's strawberry and then blue raspberry that blue raspberry. That's my favorite. That's gonna not my socks off. Oh my god. So good. It's so good. So sweet. Oh my god. I'm so happy. You love them. What else? What are the other flavors? And cherry. It's just because I hate like those are like I like berry flavors. So I wanted them to all be like berry and like cherry to me counts as like a berry. Was that cherry? Yeah, it's fire. That one low-key that and blue raspberry are my two favorites. I really I love sour sweets. Yep, they're amazing, right? Sorry, that noise was great. No, but they're amazing. I'm so glad you love them. Yeah. That's my favorite. Yeah, it's good, right? Wow. They're really. - You're a fellow fan of reality television. - Massively. - What do you watch? - So, main jealousy is my absolute life. - Is it that good? I've never seen it. - You've never seen it? - No. - Do you know why I love main jealousy? It's because they always go to like really nice restaurants and they have like really lovely clothes and like it's just, it's like, it brings lots to it, you know, to the table. - Right. - But it's, you know, it's basically just posh people having relationship issues, but I could watch it all day every day. - And how long has it been around for? - Oh, it's been around, I can't even, I think I've been watching it since I was 11. - Oh, whoa. - And it's still going. - And it's just one series, just this main in Chelsea and it's a rotating caster. - It's a rotating caster, like me and my friend Sylvie love it so much that we've like gone back and we like started it from the beginning and like, it's so good. I would really recommend. - Have you ever done housewives? - Yes, I have done housewives. - Okay, which ones have you done? - I've done Beverly Hills with my mom. She's a big housewives fan. - I would love your mom. - She, I've also done Salt Lake City. - It's so good. That's why I think for a while. - It's so good. - It's so good. - It's crazy. Well, I was playing a Mormon so I was like, this is reset. - Oh my God, yes, and under the manner of having. - Yes, I was like, this is technically reset, isn't it, because obviously that she's from there. So, oh my God, that is so crazy. - No, crazy, crazy. - Do you watch New York? - I haven't, I then went on to Vanderpomp Rules and then-- - That's her hair show of all time. - Oh yeah, it's so good. If I could meet these Vanderpomp, it would be amazing. - I'm so sad, is it Ziggy? - Ziggy died? - Ziggy died. - I just remember when Lisa left Beverly Hills because she finally got called out for it. She couldn't take it. But that was like the ultimate betrayal by Kyle. - Oh my God. - It's such, I could be a fly on the wall in those shows. It's so, if you could be in any of the shows, which would you? - So, I think Salt Lake. - Salt Lake. - Because they know the assignment and they really understand it. - Mm-hmm. - Or, yeah, Salt Lake. Because they like every episode, I think they think they have nothing to lose and they just balls to the wall like. - Yeah, yeah. - And they just like, there was an entire episode this season. Are you caught up with Salt Lake? - No, I'm caught up. - Okay, this season was-- - I pulled it off, I need to get back home. - Utterly fantastic. And there was an episode where they all go to lunch. And there's, normally in a house I've said you have, them at the house getting ready for lunch, them dealing with their partners. This episode was a straight hour of them just screaming at each other at lunch. Well, they would get one by one, get pulled off to get read by a psychic. - No. - Yes, and they would all cry and then come back and start screaming at each other. - That's iconic. - It's amazing. - Have you ever been to a psychic? - No, I get scared. - I get scared. - I don't want them to tell me something I don't want to hear and I don't want to put it out to the world. - And then maybe like manifest it by thinking it's gonna happen. - Right. - I know, I'm with you. I have no interest. - And are you like, does, as do any of your friends, do psychics as your boyfriend, do psychics? - No, no, he doesn't, but he, I have a lot of friends. There's a lot of tarot that goes around. We do a lot of tarot. I don't mind that, that's nice. I like that. - And that's just like card reading, right? - Yeah, that's like, you know, you wake up and you pull a card. There's lots of ways of doing it. But there's, I have one friend who has fairy cards, which are cute, which he tells you are fairies of the year. I like that one. But no, I don't do anything too, too hardcore. - I'm big on astrology right now. - Oh, yes, so what are you? - I'm a Scorpio. - Okay, I like Scorpio. - I'm a Gemini, right? - I am a Gemini. - I'm a Gemini rising Gemini moon. I think that's why we get along so well. - Yeah, we've got a bit of Gemini. - Gemini, Gemini, Gemini, Gemini, Gemini, Gemini. But I'm big, I mean, it's always correct. - Yeah. - What it is? - I was hung over the other day and I read my app. What's it? Chani, Louise, Chani, Chani. And it was like, don't feel bad about party-ing. And I was literally like, oh my God, how'd you think that was? - That is, but okay, this is crazy. Have you been told about your satin return? - Yes. - Okay, I'm now apparently in it. - Yeah, you are. - I'm shitting myself. - Like, are you okay? - I don't know, because again, I'm like, oh no, am I manifesting it? But like, everyone I meet when I'm like, oh, I'm 28, like just turned 28, they're like, whoa, buckle up, like, this is like, the shit is gonna hit the fan. - But I think it could go, I think it could go, it's not, I don't think a satin return is inherently bad. It's just like, your life falls into place. - Yeah, and I think like, I do think there's something that can, well, even what you were talking about about, like, confidence. I do think there is something that does happen in your late 20s where you start to find your voice. And you're like, earn your confidence and like, love yourself more. I do think that I'm noticing that happen. Like, I'm noticing myself grow from the things I've learned. I've been difficult, like, I'm enjoying that. So I suppose you're right, there's like, any lesson is a good lesson. So just hopefully it's not too bad. - No, I think, I think it just, I really just think it puts your life on track. She's in the middle of her right now, too. And her life is on your life is going great. - Yeah, I mean, it's good. - Her life is, no, her life is, like, right now? - It's the best it's been. - Right now, you're up. - I think it's that, it's realignment. Yeah, I do feel the same. It's good right now, but we'll see. - But it also, like, can manifest in your, like, body. Like, my body had started to, like, creak a bit. And that's like what I consider, like, my satin return. - Yeah, you're like, my knees are going in. You know, like, my wrist, the earlier the summer I had a brace, I had like, I had like, oh, it was the worst thing on planet earth. And I'm the biggest hypochondriac. I think I read that you are as well. - I am too, yeah. - How do you deal with it? - Not well. - Yeah, it's tough. It's actually really tough. - My dad is one as well. - So he's like, get a hospital. - You've got a minute to live. - I was constipated last year. Sorry, TMI, and he told me to go to the hospital. (laughing) - I had a run in with some beetroot. I won't tell you more of the details on that one. - You can imagine. - I can imagine. - I genuinely was like. - Hospital. - Yeah, I was like, this is crazy. Like, I've got a week to live. - Well, I mean, my dad sent me a paragraph yesterday. Like, he called me on Tuesday and my hangover obviously had still prolonged and he was like, why do you sound so tired? I was like, well, I'm hungover. I just got back from London. Paragraph, colon cancer. - No! - Like crazy, crazy. Like, I was like, please. - 'Cause you're like, let me be hungover. It's a right of passage. I'll be alright. I just need to eat some chips. - Right? - That's the key. - I'm hungover cure. - Well, reality telly. Absolutely. Like a day on the sofa watching telly with your mates. And then, like chips, like pasta and chips. - Pasta, yeah. - I would just need like salt and like carbs and like, that's what I want. Like chips. - But is the best hangover cure? It is this big like bowl of like, it's like either chicken broth or beef broth or you can get vegan broth and rice noodles and you put jalapenos in it and sriracha and it's spicy and it opens up all your sinuses and hydrating to you. It's the best. - And bone brusket for your brusket. - Yeah. - Like you get all of that. Oh, that's great. - Yeah, it's amazing. - Okay, I'm gonna get some thigh and me. - You also watch Blow Deck? - Yes, I was gonna say if I were to be in a reality telly, I think it would be perfect. - What? I'd never gotten into it. - Really? - Yeah. - That was like, I actually had to like take a step back. Like I had to take myself out of it. The situation was like, it was like, all I was doing was watching Blow Deck. Like it was like actually a problem. Like it was making me unhappy. - Why is it making me unhappy? - Just because I was like, I have not achieved anything. All I wanna do is watch this show and like ultimately like, it's not necessarily like bringing me much other than, you know, I know a lot now about the inner workings of a yacht, but it is exceptional. It is exceptional telly. - And they like all day, they all beef under, under. - They beef, but they like hook up and then there's sort of like, fun because there's different guests on every show. - Right. - And like, there's like the first series, there's like a British chef called Spiky Hair, I can't remember his name, it's just like, 'cause you're sort of like also going on holiday with these guys, like you're seeing parts of the world and no, it's to be like, I'll give you a warning before you watch that because it's addictive. - Real Housewives of Saltley City and Blow Deck had a crossover this season. - Shut up. - Yes. - They went on a yacht? - Yes, and there's an episode of Blow Deck with The Real Housewives and there's an episode of The Real Housewives' Week, and it was one of the best episodes of television. I've ever seen in my entire life. - That's incredible. - Yeah, you have to, you have to do it. - Oh my God. - Have you ever watched industry? - Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah. What a great show. - What a great show. - I haven't watched the most recent season though and everyone says that is the one. - As long as you have nothing spoiled for you, like the character development of Yaz is like some of the most insane, by the end of what I think this is season four, you don't recognize her. - Ooh. - It's, I would do it if I were you. - It's so, okay, I've watched the first two seasons. - Have you ever seen the third? - No. - It's the best one. - Okay. - The finale of the third, I don't think they, I think they thought they weren't possibly getting a season four. - So they went like- - Oh my God, full of body chills thinking about it. It is one of the best episodes of television I've ever, ever seen. And I know I've said that about 10 times this episode, but I really mean it with that. - Okay, that's really, okay. - Yeah. - Okay, I need to download it. That's what I'm gonna do on my flight. - Oh. - I'm gonna watch it. - And you let me know. - Okay. - Okay, we have a segment on the show called The Tell Me What's Wrongs. We're the pussies right in and they tell us what's wrong and we give them advice. I've been lying to my family about having a boyfriend for a few months now. I'm in college and they keep on asking when I'm gonna bring someone home. So now I just made up a dude and plan on breaking up before the holidays. Okay, so she doesn't have a boyfriend. I sent pictures to our family group chat of quote us. It was a random guy I found on campus, but my brother recognized him. Texted that guy and exposed me in my family group chat. I want revenge so badly. - Wait, oh my gosh. That is big drama. Hold on a minute. - So she pretended she had a boyfriend. - Her family was like, do you have a boyfriend? She was like, yes, just to get them off her back. And then she basically made up that she had a boyfriend and her brother exposed her. - Exposed it. I wonder why she made up having a boyfriend. - I don't know, right? I'm like, I've never had a boyfriend. and I would never lie about it. - No. - I can't lie. - Are you, I'm not really lying. - It gives me the worst anxiety. I feel like the most guilt I ever felt 'cause in my entire life. - Yeah, I'm with you. I feel like you can see on my face. - Yeah, it's, and I just like, it eats me alive at night. - Yeah, yeah. - Like when I was like gay and a kid and like closet and I literally thought I was lying. So I was like, I would like be in bad being like, I'm literally lying. - No. - I know. So that's why I came out when I was like 10. - Oh, I know, and you were like, I can't, I can't hide it anymore. - And then I asked my mom for a toy and she said no. (laughs) - Wait, what type of toy? - I was like, can I have this like random toy and she was like, like no. Like I thought I deserved a present for like coming out to her. - Yeah, so where I see you were like, I need you. - And by the way, my kid came out to me, I would give them a fucking present. - Absolutely, especially at 10 being like, I know myself and I want to say this to you. I love that. - I don't know how this girl can get revenge on her brother. I'm not a big believer in revenge. - I, listen, I think, I think ultimately, if you take revenge, you ultimately are punishing yourself because it doesn't feel good to be mean and malicious. And I think, listen, you sit the person down, you say that hurt my feelings. I understand why you did it, but I don't appreciate you could have come to me first because maybe she could discuss with her brother why she feels she needs to lie about having a boyfriend and maybe there would be bonding experience. I agree, I think revenge or being like, don't hold a grudge. Just move on, it's easier. Or watch "Normal People" because your character and "Normal People" has the worst brother on God's green earth. - Yes. And then you might appreciate your brother. - Wait, I was actually like, floored. When I watched, I was like, how was it? - He was villain, he was a villain. - He hated you. - He just hated her. - He just couldn't stand her. - It was the craziest thing I've ever seen. - It was, he just really couldn't. - God, you were so excellent in that show. - Oh, thank you. - I'm sure you hear it every day, but I think I need to rewatch "Normal People." - If your heart can take it. - I know, I know. - It's sad. - My new boyfriend's friend Suck. He just invited all of them over to hang out and they're actually the worst. - No. - A annoying loud. He really comes out of his shell around them, which is nice for him, but I can't stand these guys. What do I say to him? - Oh, that's such a hard thing, isn't it? - Have you ever been in a situation where you hated your partner's friends? - No, I haven't, but I've hated my friend's partners. - And how do you handle that? - You can't. - Yeah. - Not hated, I don't hate anyone. But I wear you feel like, I don't know if that's the best thing for you, that's tough. But I think that like, it's hard if it's your partner and he comes out, but then it's like the version of him that comes out, do you like that version? Again, look, honestly, the key to a healthy relationship is figuring out how to communicate healthily. And it's so difficult, but I think you can totally just say, "Hey, I noticed this facet of you comes out, "and I like to see it 'cause I love that you're happy, "but I feel a bit uncomfortable around this person "or I find this facet of them difficult." Just see how he takes it. But I mean, I suppose it's hard, so difficult, or what would you say? - I would say maybe that I'm literally dripping sweat. Can you tell I'm dripping sweat, by the way? - You just look glowing, you don't. - Okay, you don't look. - But when we will show this episode. - Okay, it won't come out. - Yeah, like literally, by the way, as you were talking, I felt a drop dropped on my face and I was like, "Cool." So if you hate your partner's friends, I think you should break up. - Do you think you should break up? - I do, I think it's not. It is a recipe for complete and utter disaster. 'Cause I've had friends that have had, their partners have hated me. - That's horrible. - And that just, it doesn't work. It doesn't work. It really doesn't work. Like your friends are your chosen family. - Yeah. - And like it, and it's not like he hates you, if you hated his family, it's different 'cause he can't choose that. But like your friends being your chosen family, like there's something really special to that, that like, those are a reflection of him just as much as he's a reflection of them. And like, I don't know if it's gonna work. - I know what you mean. I suppose also like, people contain multitudes. There may be a way that you could like, I would maybe suggest having some one-on-one time, with each friend. Because if you love your partner and you see great things in them, then he must see more to that person than you have maybe seen. So I would maybe like, do you do diligence if you love your partner? See each person, see if you can find the kernel of what makes them special to your partner. If it's not there. - Yeah. - Then maybe. - Move on. - Yeah. - My friend's son had his first birthday, first baby in the friend group. At the party, I thought it would be funny to blow out the candles. Now my friend is pissed as fuck. Said I shouldn't have ruined his moment. It's not like he'll remember he said baby, it was funny. Now she says I need to apologize to the baby question mark. Wait, I would be, I would be, first of all, not only would I do that, but if that happened to me, I would be so angry, would you not be furious if someone blew out your baby's candles? - I think it's funny. I think it's funny. - There must be something deeper. She must make everything about herself. - Yeah, there is, because to be fair, you would be like, what, you just be like, I'll say, you know, but it's also not that deep, because they are one. - Right. - But I would make it a bit, be like, apologize to the baby and be like, there's this what you want to. - The truth is though, a baby can't blow. - Yeah. - Like, how's it gonna blow out like somebody else? - The bomb has to be, right. - Like it. - She, it's her. - It's her, she, yeah. - She wanted to blow out her baby's candles and make her baby's wish. - See when you look at it like that. - I see. - It's that. - That is sad. - It's a big moment for her. - And she, it's her baby's first birthday. No, I'd be so pissed. - Couldn't she just re-light the candles and do it? - No, it's not the same. I'd be so angry. I'd be like, are you serious? But I'd also laugh. Like if my best friend Pian did that, I'd be like. - That's funny. - I'd laugh. - It's funny. - Yeah. - And also because the baby is probably just like, you know, even if they can't do anything. - Do you have a, do you have a bunch of friends with babies? - I think she has a baby. - No, no, no. - Not yet. No, I don't actually. I recently have had a lot of friends with babies. - Oh, I love babies. - And I'm obsessed with them. I'm obsessed with the babies. - I love babies. It's funny though, there is a point where you suddenly see babies and you're like, oh, yeah. It's like, it just happens. I get started with me with dogs. I like dogs and now I'm like, I need a dog more than anything. - Right. - And now I'm starting to see babies and I'm like, they're tiny hands are so cute. - No, they're the hands. It's the hands to it for me every single time. - Oh my God. - And they're little walks, they're little wobbles. Like, oh, I can't take it. - And also it just gives you perspective in it. And you're like, oh, it's just that. Life's about being silly, isn't it? It's just about walking around. - And they have no perception of the world like we do. It's so insane. - Is it mad seeing your friends like jeans? Is mad seeing your friends as parents? - Yes, my like, it's just crazy. Like, they become a more calmer version of themselves. - Yeah. - Like, because their life is now, like Carrie Washington, like when she was on the show, she said like, when she had her kid, it's like she was like wearing her heart, like her heart was outside of her body. - Yeah. - And you can like see that on their faces. - Totally. - Like you can see like they, like everything they do is for their kid. - Yeah, and suddenly you're like, oh, I think that's it. It just puts everything into perspective. You're like, oh, as long as I can keep this, this little person happy in a life, I'm nailing life. - Right. - But that's also why what we were talking about about parsing, we shouldn't feel bad about it. This is the time. - This is the time. - To be selfish and just have a bit of like the crack. - That's what I'm saying. - 100%. - 'Cause soon you'll have to not be selfish, and you'll have to think you'll have to put somebody else before you, and he wants that. - Is it wedding season for you? Like, have you-- - Yes. - I just had a wedding on the weekend. - What do you think about rehearsal dinners? - I've not been to rehearsal dinner. I don't think that's so much of a thing at home. - But you guys have like a hen, right? That's what you got all at the hen. - Well, we have hens and stags, and sometimes you do stents, which is like a hen do and a stag do at the same time. - I've heard about this. - I think so much fun. - Yeah, I didn't know that's not a thing here. - I think it's completely separately. - Because then it's like, 'cause also I love my boyfriend's friends, and he loves mine. So it does seem like I don't know how I divide it. - Right. It would be more fun to just do it together. - What's the craziest stag hen that you've ever been on? - I've never been on one. - Okay, so wedding season's beginning. - Wedding season is beginning, and it is, so the reason I'm like, I can't deal with these rehearsal dinners is because you take it too far. Like, I got home from the box at 6am, and then I had to go to a wedding the next day. And I'm like, I wish I just didn't do that. - So you had to go to a rehearsal dinner and then the wedding? - Yes, it makes no sense. - But then like, but what? Yeah, because like, then you just have done the bit. - No, that's what I'm saying. Like, I think if I ever, it really like, I don't understand rehearsal dinner. It's like, you're not rehearsing shit. - Yes, to rehearse, you just have to walk down. There's literally a row that you walk down, if that's what you're chosen to do. - And yeah. - And then say you're a bit. - But that's the rehearsal. And then there's a rehearsal to it make, it's more of like a welcome party. - Right. - She goes to a wedding like every other weekend. - That's crazy. - It's crazy. - I understand like a welcome drinks the night before, if you're like somewhere, you know, nice. But like, rehearsing the wedding seems crazy. And then you've sort of like, you've seen it all. It's not, it's like, for me, it's the anticipation of like what's gonna happen. Where they gonna walk. - Right. Weddings are, and weddings can be some of the most fun I'll ever have in my entire life. - Oh, they are so fun. - Yeah. - They are so fun. Also like, it's just like, again, it's that thing. We're suddenly you're like, oh, I'm an adult. Like, I saw my best friend get married over Christmas. And I just couldn't believe it. 'Cause for me, she was like still 18. And I was like, but we're babies. And now you're fully getting married. It was such a magic thing. - My brother just got married. And he's literally like younger than me. And I just remember being like, I cannot believe this is happening right now. - It's crazy. - It's crazy. Where do you want to get married one day? Well, I I don't know like it's funny when you go to weddings. You start to think about. Yeah Would I like what would I do if I got married? I think I like the idea of like a London wedding Okay, yeah, I just went to one and it was really fun. I've never been to one I've only ever been to like a brought somewhere abroad Which is fabulous in its way, but I like the idea of like one crazy night out in London I want to do a country a London country sad wedding Oh, like like you could go to like Devon or Dorsey. I've never been I don't even know these places Have you been to the Commonwealth have you been no, but I've heard it's like the most beautiful and credit like my friend I love like you need to come. It is the best place on planet earth. Oh, well sense and sensibility is all shot in the British countryside And it is some of the most beautiful landscapes like you will ever see did you shoot that in the summer? Yes, let literally last summer were you so hot in those clothes? Well, we were shooting in the like moors in Dartmore, which are like this amazing like moorland with like wild horses and sheep So and but it would be like five different seasons and like one right here would be like winter springs I it was like so yes hot freezing all of the all of the temperatures Was it hard to memorize lines when they speak in? Well, I hadn't done an English accent in a long time. I hadn't done my own accent But it's not even my own accent because it's sort of like dearest, you know, it's got a different sort of cadence to it. So I loved it. I I want to use the term dearest more in my life Like I think the way they used to speak was so like gorgeous. Yeah, it's very romantic. Yeah, like dearest Do you not believe that you know? I just think it's so like be hold in the whimsical? Yeah, be like I do believe that I love him. You know, yeah, I highly esteem him all of the I just think it's like Beautiful. Oh the ending of that movie was so awesome. Oh, thank you. It was so awesome So yeah, I love that our movie is really about the sisters like it's it's a love story between them And I think that's you know, I think it's so beautiful and that's what the book is as well. So yeah, I was like that was about to say I haven't seen the the other one so or does this adaptation focus more on the Sisters it doesn't away like I think that that relationship in the 95 versions also really strong But I think that that's definitely what are like our filmmakers really was interested in because They're two sides of the same coin. I think it would be easy to think that Elana was sense And Mariam was sensibility and they they are but actually like both contain Multi like so much of each other's quality. Oh, you just found out the movie from me A sense and stability Yeah, that makes sense Elana is sense. Yeah, she's super In the book she's described as like being full of emotion, but she knows how to govern it. She's very like right You know and then Mariam is like all emotion and just like love and life and I want to you know meet the man I want to go to London. Yeah, like I fancy Willoughby. I'm getting married all of this whereas Elana is a bit more like but have you thought have you thought about it all yeah? So in by the end of the movie they kind of like it's a movie about balance really they like gift each other each other's You know, I think Elana is the one who's running through the moors and you know gives in to her emotion and then Mariam learns that you know she can feel things but she'd also care for herself and look after and be a little more sensible at times Wow, yeah My ex best friend's crazy boyfriend wouldn't let her use the bathroom when she was over He is a bum that lived in his parents basement. I'm sorry. I don't think I can do it Oh, yeah, you read he is a bum That lived in his parents basement post-grad by the way He told her she couldn't as there was no bathroom downstairs And if she goes upstairs to the bathroom their dogs will bark and it will wake everyone up in the house He then tells her that there is a bucket downstairs that she can use He did ask expector Have you ever used that word before in your entire life? No, and I was like trying to try and say well bumman as well He did ask expector to take a piss in the musty bucket in the basement And you know what she did Multiple times. Oh, that's just her and I don't speak anymore Okay, see that's why I'm confused but I know they're still together and I just pray for her sake that she can use the bathroom now I have no Interesting. I don't know how to help and maybe reach out and be like hey girl. I don't know if she needs help I think she just wanted to say I just wanted it to be known that like I'm all too conscious, maybe she's hoping that her ex-best friend might watch this episode and be like she still cares Oh my god, she still cares. She still cares. She still cares. You know, and stop pissing in a bucket Yes, please that's giving like kidnapped vibes Yeah, and also crazy that he would be like the dog is more important like don't wait the dog like pee in this bucket No, that's insane. I mean, that is giving Glastonbury, but like yeah, that's crazy. That's crazy She should deadass leave him Hey Jake, it's Libby. I'm speaking to a guy who's perfect But I'm starting to get the ick because he owns a motivational water bottle and myself sabotaging or is it hydrate or die? Or is hydrate or die genuinely a red flag like help? Okay, so my acting coach Has a water bottle that lights up when he you're yeah, I don't think it's a red flag at all It is very important to drink water. I agree. I'm sorry. It is an ick that he's hydrated No, a more of an ick would be if he's dehydrated and his pee would smell bad That's an ick. Yeah, that's really icky watch h2l just had water. Oh my god. Oh shit That's show ever actually that would be my dream job to play a mermaid I think that is achievable. I just like I loved it whenever they got flicked with water and they were like oh no So good. I mean that was like my we used to play that like as a kid like we would like throw water Uh, water has like we would put well now. Okay, you need to watch you need to read Okay, the court of thunder is this because instead of playing mermaids now people play master and you don't know what that means but is it like evil mermaids? She does a point. I won't say okay Well, Daisy. Oh What did we learn today? What did we learn? We're kind of similar. We're Gemini's We're kind of similar Gemini qualities. I happen to have this much fun in this room In a really really really long time Thank you Sorry Thank you all that so I've had such blast and honestly these sweeties are so good like coming home with me.
