Former Special Prosecutor Jack Smith appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee yesterday, where he answered tough questions from Republicans and defended his prosecutions of President Trump during the 2024 presidential race. Joining us now with more on that hearing and other stories out of Washington is Tim Rice, our DC bureau chief. Good to have you on. It was good to be here, guys. All right. So what were Republicans looking to hear from Jack Smith about those investigations into Trump? And what did they actually offer them? I think Republicans were looking to hear literally any sense of culpability, any kind of apology, right? And not just for the investigation into President Trump, which Republicans and the president hold was mishandled and possibly illegal, but also for the nearly 5,000 Americans whose personal information bank records and phone records, Smith's team probed as part of what was called Operation Arctic Frost. So that was really another a big part of the hearing today was Republicans trying to hold him to account for that in addition to his probe into the president unsurprisingly to anyone who is watch Jack Smith or lived through the investigation into Trump and Arctic Frost. They got none of that. He actually said at one point that given everything that transpired, if given the opportunity, if given the same evidence against the president today, whether Republican or Democrat, he would carry out exactly the same investigation and come to exactly the same conclusion. All right. So no regrets at all. No, none at all. So should we expect any consequences for Jack Smith after this hearing? You know, it remains to be seen. As I said, Smith is not admitting any guilt, but the president has repeatedly called for him to be criminally prosecuted. And one thing we did see from Senators Chuck Grassley, Ted Cruz, Marsha Blackburn, and others was that they are not going to let go of the fact that he pride into the personal information of everyday Americans in addition to Republican legislators and the president. So if there is going to be more action on this, I would expect to see Congress and these Republican Senators really push to get some sort of restitution or justice for those Americans, even if the president doesn't get his wish of seeing Jack Smith prosecuted. Now switching gears yesterday in DC, there was Trump's big AI summit with leaders from the industry. And he was clearly very enthusiastic about it. We've changed the name Steve officially to SI. I mean, super intelligent. So the name has been officially changed by the biggest, the smartest, the greatest people anywhere in the world at this. He's launched a new AI concierge for the federal government. What do we know about this new AI initiative? Yeah, it's called America.gov. And if you haven't played around with it yet, I encourage everyone to do so. It's pretty fun. It's basically a homepage for the federal government, but powered by AI. So anyone who's ever used Chatchee PT or any of the other popular AI interfaces will be very familiar with this. You go a dialogue box that says, "What can we help you with?" And the idea is that it can help with pretty much getting any information, any record that is publicly available in the National Archives or across federal departments. But it can also help help people negotiate different services or benefits. So some of the examples that it gives when you log on are, it says, "Type in. I'm a veteran. How can I access my disability benefits?" Or, "How can I enroll my family and snap things like this?" But the launch of the event was the Melon Auditorium in DC. A lot of folks from the cabinet and AI industry leaders were there. And this really was the, I don't want to say triumphant point of Trump's push for AI because he really only started pushing for this about a month ago, but definitely a peak. It was almost like one of the old Steve Jobs Apple rollouts where they demonstrated the website. And there were a couple of follow-on things for what you can use AI for outside of this website. The two big ones that are getting a lot of headlines, Marco Rubio announced that going forward, you'll be able to apply for a passport entirely online, including the photo taking, which is I think the essential part. And also the government is planning to roll out a one-stop shop website where people can change their names, which is of course by this administration being billed as something that women can use when they get married to avoid what I hear is a very hassle, heavy process to take your husband's last day. It's clear that Trump is really presenting himself as sort of the AI president at this point. Now, before you go, we also have some exclusive reporting from our colleagues here at Daily Wire related to James Tallerico, the Democrats, Senate candidate in Texas. Tell us about what was uncovered. Yes, our colleague Jacob Wheeler has been on a generational run of exposing James Tallerico, the latest video that he reported shows Tallerico assuring supporters that contraird what he said on Fox, there was a couple of weeks ago, none of his beliefs have changed since he lost this campaign. So if you think back to that interview and some of the other moderating statements he's attempted to make, that includes things like loving trans children more than his own family, not believing that God is a woman, not really believing in God at all, all of the radical leftist and controversial things that God had been in trouble, that he's tried to publicly walk back. This clip shows him saying, "No, no, don't worry, none of my beliefs have changed. Here's a little bit from the clip." The way I bought for trans kids in the legislature is how I will fight for the U.S. Senate and my position hasn't changed. Tallerico's Republican opponent, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton picked up this video very quickly after he went to press, so I'm sure that other Republicans are going to follow suit. The Trump administration is demanding answers from a New York hospital, after nearly every residency spot went to foreign doctors, leaving just two positions for Americans. Here are the details is DailyWire reporter Amanda Prestige-Ochema, great to have you on. Yeah, thanks for having me. Alright, so we've been looking at this hospital, the Trump administration's now very much interested in it. What exactly is going on here and why is this so concerning to so many people? Yeah, well, in this particular instance, though, this does seem to be a national issue, we're talking about Rochester General Hospital in New York. Their internal medicine residency program has really shocking numbers. Of the 82 residents currently listed by the hospital, only two attended medical school in the United States, 21 of them attended medical school in India, 15 in Pakistan, six in the Sudan, and then the rest attended medical schools in places like Nepal, Egypt, Nigeria, Jordan, and other countries. Now this is all public information. You can see it right on Rochester General Hospital's website, but what happened was over the weekend an account called exposed H1B visa fraud reported on this and it grabbed the attention of the Trump administration. That post said that 98% of the residency positions went to foreign workers on H1B or J1 visas. The account also said that many of the countries where these doctors went to medical school, they have high counts of cheating and other irregular behavior on the U.S. medical licensing examination. So potentially, some quality issues there, too. Now, what is the hospital saying in response? Yeah, so we reached out to Rochester Regional Health and they gave us a statement and didn't deny these numbers. I'll read some of that statement right now. Rochester Regional Health is proud to recruit and train highly qualified physicians who meet our rigorous standards. The statement goes on to say that at a time when physician and nursing shortages are challenging health care systems across the country, we remain focused on building a strong healthcare workforce. Now, I will add that there are nursing and physician shortages nationwide, but that doesn't account for these extreme numbers in this residency program. What has the Trump administration said about all of this? Well, Labor Department Inspector General Anthony Despazito, he specifically took notice of all of this. He's now demanding answers from Rochester Regional Health. He wants to know how many residency slots went to H1B and J1 visa holders. And he wants to know how many American applicants in his words got a fair shot here. He also fired a warning shot. He referenced a recent Trump executive order that puts visa abuse under a microscope and he added that quote, "If the system is being gained, we'll work with Vice President Vance's White House Task Force to eliminate fraud to expose it." So clearly this is a priority for the Trump administration. Yeah, definitely. And it's important to note that the Trump administration is really trying to hit this financial incentive aspect. So some visa programs allow companies to get workers at cheaper wages than Americans would demand. So the administration is moving to change that. They're raising wage requirements. They're also increasing the cost of certain H1B hires and making it harder to use this visa system to undercut American workers. Now, at the top, you mentioned that this isn't just happening in Rochester. It's more of a nationwide trend. Unpack that a little bit. Yeah, absolutely. There are residency programs across the nation that have extremely high rates of IMG or international medical graduates, meaning doctors who went to medical school outside of the United States. There are other hospitals in New York, for example, that have 98 percent IMG rates. But there are also programs in red states like Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas that report rates of 80, 90, and even 100 percent IMG rates. So this is a national phenomenon. It's not unique to Rochester, and it's not even unique to just blue states. I'm not surprising these numbers have gotten so much attention, including from the Trump administration. Amanda, thank you so much for reporting. You're welcome. After the first trial ended in a mistrial, Lindsey Clancy has come back to court. Here with the details is host of that so criminal, Lyndon Blake. So Lyndon, what was the purpose of this most recent hearing and what do we know about a potential retrial? Yeah, so the purpose of this was to start this process over from square one, start the new retrial process or start the new trial process, because in this case, it'll be rinse and repeat. But a whole lot of nothing came out of Tuesday's hearing, but what we heard kind of gives you a sense of the direction that this is going. So the three main takeaways from the hearing that happened yesterday was Kevin Reddington, Lindsey Clancy's lead attorney completely flipped the script on his argument for her during the first trial. The thing that took center stage was the post-partum psychosis and was Lindsey Clancy criminally responsible. Kevin Reddington said Lindsey Clancy killed her kids. The defense said it. They said that Lindsey said it, but now at this hearing, he's completely flipping it and saying there's no evidence that Lindsey killed her kids and there's no evidence that Lindsey said she killed her kids. That's something to watch because what Kevin Reddington is arguing is Massachusetts rule 25. He's basically saying now the prosecution did not provide sufficient evidence that proved Lindsey Clancy killed her kids and therefore there should be no new trial. Two more things to sit out from the hearing yesterday, the hold out juror. The prosecution is saying that no, the juror's notes should not be made public in this second trial. And Kevin Reddington is wanting everything public. He is wanting this juror, the loan hold out, investigate it. So there's a motion to investigate and that hasn't been decided, but it's just, it's very interesting because now you're talking about not even Lindsey Clancy and a lot of lawyers have spoken out against Kevin Reddington for essentially ruining the juror system if this stands. You have people, and it's not a debate on Lindsey Clancy. They're saying no matter what you feel about Clancy, Kevin Reddington is taking down the judicial system by scaring potential jurors for even wanting to serve on a jury, knowing that their life could potentially be exposed for all to see just for going with their convictions. Now we did hear from the hold out, the loan hold out juror yesterday. He broke his silence. He went on camera. What did we hear from him? Yeah. Michael Deseramville, Senate Statement, video statement to Fox News basically saying, stop making this about me. This case has been turned into about me where it should be on the three victims, Korra Dawson and Callan. He also gave credit to his Catholic faith. He was very humble talking about how his faith led him through this decision, and he was very thankful that he gets to raise his daughter. He talked about his family a little bit, but the driving home point was stop making this about me. He didn't want it to be about him. He didn't ask for it to be docs in front of the whole world. He wants the focus to go back to the three victims who he said obviously cannot speak for themselves. Well, definitely chilling to jurors, thinking that their personal information could go out there if they were involved in a case like this. Lyndon, thanks for reporting. Thanks so much.
