Self Confidence Habits-Part 2

In this episode of the Creating Unshakeable Self-Confidence Podcast, host Sherry Brazier shares two final self-confidence habits from her personal journey. Habit four is to style your hair every day with intention, whether washed or with a hat, so it looks purposeful and completes your outfit. Habit five is to own killer everyday shoes that are comfortable, fit well, and match your personal style, as they elevate any look and boost confidence. Sherry then addresses common fears that hold women back from being stylish, such as worrying about being judged or appearing selfish. She encourages listeners to redefine what being stylish means to them—focusing on empowerment, authenticity, and self-expression rather than negative associations. She introduces a journal exercise: write your current belief about being stylish and what you want it to mean. Sherry emphasizes that imagination is crucial—you must envision yourself as confident and stylish before you can achieve it. By replacing negative thoughts with positive ones, you can create the life and confidence you desire. She concludes by inviting listeners to join her Style Mastery program, which offers seasonal style guides, weekly calls, and support to build unshakeable self-confidence and personal style.

[MUSIC PLAYING] Did you know that you can have unshakable self-confidence? I'm Sherry Brazier. I'm an advanced certified style coach, personal wardrobe stylist, and seasoned hairstylist. I'm on a mission to teach women everywhere to see their true value and create self-confidence on the inside and then help you dress that way on the outside. Women, just like you, are creating strategies to dress your body shape stylishly. Tools you can use to help you love yourself and process disappointment and overwhelm, all while still looking put together when you leave the house. If you're ready to figure out your personal style and learn the tools to help you build and create more self-confidence, then you are in the right place. Let's get started. Hello, my beautiful friends. Welcome to the Creating Unshakeable Self-Confidence Podcast. I'm your host, Sherry Brazier, and your style Bestie. And this is part two of the self-confidence habits. Last week, we talked about the first three self-confidence habits that I started when I first started my journey of self-confidence. And so if you are listening to this one and you haven't listened to part one, you are going to want to pause this one and go to the part one so that you get the whole beginning part of why these self-confidence habits came into play and how I started using them. And then you'll come back to this one for steps number four and five, habits number four and five. Last week, we talked about one through three and this week we're talking about four and five. So let's get into number four habit of the self-confidence habits. OK, number four. I decided that one of the habits that I was going to do that changed how I felt about myself was I was going to style my hair every single day. Now that could have been-- that could have meant that it was a hat that day. And I didn't wash it. But I would style it so that it looked like it was intentional. I didn't just put a hat on because I was running out the door late and didn't have time to care or think about it. It was this outfit actually looks good with a hat. It's part of my outfit and I styled my hair around the hat. It was intentional and cute. So I don't wash my hair every day. I wash my hair two times a week, three times a week, maybe, max depending on what I've done and what's going on. But I realized that there are people that can't do that. They have to wash their hair every day. And that's fine. We can have a conversation about that on a different day. You can email me or we can have a Zoom call or whatever you want to do about products and your hair type and your scalp and all the things of whether you can wash your hair every other day or whether you can get two days out of it or there are products and different things that I've found over the years to help me be able to not have to wash my hair every day so that I can get that time back. That's what I was-- that's what I'm doing it for. I want to save as much time as I can. So some of you might be wanting to cut back on the overwhelm and the stress that comes with styling your hair from wet. Maybe it's a longer process when it's wet to dry. Maybe it's lots of curling and maybe it's physical issues. Like, a lot of my hair clients have shoulder issues. They've had shoulder surgeries and so styling their hair from wet takes a lot of time and a lot of effort because they have physical ailments and limitations and all of the things that's totally fine. But there are ways that you can style your hair intentionally so that it looks like you've styled it intentionally every single day. And I promise you, it doesn't matter what clothes you have on. People think that it's the clothes that make you look stylish. And that is part of it. That's part of it. But I can put you in a bomb outfit, like an absolute dreamy outfit. And if your hair isn't done or it's lackluster at best, then the whole outfit, the whole look just falls flat. So styling your hair is really part of being intentional. And putting on some makeup is part of being intentional. And I'm going to get probably a bunch of feedback about spending time and that's not my thing. And I don't want to put a bunch of makeup on and I have skin issues. And all of the things, that's fine. Do it the way that it works for you. Just have some kind of intention for it. Don't just wake up and walk out the door with not with no intention or thinking or anything about it. Figure something out so that it looks like you've put some work into it, at least, so that you can feel the best for you. OK, number five. This one's my favorite. And if you know me personally, then you know this is my favorite. Get some killer shoes that go with everyday outfits. So that I do have some killer shoes that don't go with everyday outfits. But I also have some really cute shoes that are just cute everyday shoes that go with lots of different outfits that are my style that I like and that look good with jeans or they look good with shorts or they look good with capris or they look good with a skirt or whatever. Like they're just really cute everyday shoes that are your style. And make sure that they fit your feet and that you're comfortable in them, obviously, right? Like that's a thing that we want to make sure that we do is make sure that they are causing problems. We don't want to cause problems the way there are no problems. So there are super cute sneakers. If you're a tennis shoe girl, there are super cute sneakers that you can get nowadays. They are super cute. So if you have a wide toe box, which means that the top of your, the base of your foot just underneath your toes is a wide, that's called a wide shoe box. There are shoes that you can get that tell you if that will work for if those shoes will work for your foot shape. So we can talk about that too. I can give you some pointers on that. If you need some pointers on that, it doesn't, they don't have to be heels to look stylish and cute. So all of the, all my, all my girls out there that don't like heels, that's okay. We can find just some really cute flats. There are some really, really cute stylish flats these days. So a couple of my clients last year that I had had some feet issues. They, one of my clients had a couple of surgeries on, on her feet and some different things. And then I had another client that broke her, broke her foot. And so she had a foot that was a little bit bigger than the other foot while it was healing and whatnot. And so I was able to go and find some shoes online for both of these gals that would work comfortable and that were cute while they were healing from their surgeries and different feet issues. And one of, one of these gals texted me not too long ago and just said that, that, that store that we got those shoes from has become her favorite store. And she's bought in several shoes, several pairs of shoes from that store because they had lots of different varieties and they have lots of different foot issue solutions. And so she was really grateful for that recommendation and has been able to find some really cute shoes for her. So there are places that you can buy really cute shoes and style issues that are not stilettos and uncomfortable or squeeze your toes or whatever. So just, this is, this is why having a personal style and knowing your personal style helps you out because it'll guide you to where your stuff is. Where your style is, where your clothes and your shoes and things that you will like and that will feel good for you, where to find them. So. After working closely with lots of people, lots of women in style mastery, there are some things that I see that a lot of them are holding themselves back. And these are the reasons that I see that women are holding themselves back from being more stylish, putting more effort into being stylish, putting more effort into being more confident in themselves. And the reasons that I have found that are most common are that you're worried that wanting to be more stylish will mean that you are conceited or selfish. Another one, you're afraid that you'll be judged for your fashion choice. Another one, you don't know how to express yourself through the way that you dress. Because you'll hear me say that personal style is self-expression. And a lot of women don't know how to express themselves through clothing. Another one is you haven't been successful finding the clothing that you like or that's in your unique style or that you want to dress in. And so you've kind of thrown in the towel. So if you can relate to any of those things, you are not alone. I have a whole group full of them. And there's several more. And these beautiful and just absolutely extraordinary women that are inside style mastery right now, many of them have these same exact fears. And they did have those same exact fears coming in. And that was one of the, those were the reasons that they, that they hadn't gotten help before. They came into style mastery. So I have worked with them and I would encourage you to consider that maybe you just need to define or change the belief that you have of what style it being stylish means. What does being stylish mean about you? Is it that you are conceited or that you're selfish? Or is it you have a quirky fashion choices and you're worried that people are going to tell you that you have weird fashion sense, right? What if you just changed it and what if you decided for yourself that it meant that you were only going to wear the clothes that make you feel beautiful or that you're only going to wear the clothes and the style that make you feel empowered because you like the way that you feel in them. The clothing choices that you are making is because you like those things and you like the way that it felt that you feel in them. What if you decided that it meant that people are going to pay more attention to you and give you more respect? When you are dressed stylish, your version of stylish. Or what if it was you can be more authentic to who you are through your style that you just decide I'm going to be stylish and my version of stylish means that this is authentic to who I am. Those are much better reasons to want to be stylish and to decide that that's what being stylish means. So in order to figure this out, here's some homework for you. And some of you tell me that you hate homework and that's okay. You don't have to do it if you don't want to. But for those of you who really want to change your confidence level and you really want to do the work that it takes to be more confident in yourself, here is two questions that I want you to ask yourself. Okay, column journal prompts. Journal prompts are really hot right now, the term journal prompt. That's really hot and trendy right now. So here's your journal prompts. What will being more stylish mean about you? What will it mean? What do you think and believe that it means to be more stylish? What will it what will being more stylish mean about you? So if you're going to change your style, let's say, and just wear the things that make you feel good, what does that mean? What would that mean? And what do you want to believe being more stylish will mean about you? And if you need some more clarification, this is a exercise that we do when we're trying to figure out what your current belief system is about a certain thing. And then what you want your belief system to be about that thing. So what is it now? What is your current belief? And then what would you like your belief to be about being more stylish? And once you get these this journal exercise done, then you'll have two columns. So that's how I recommend you do it or one page and then another page. So you'll have two pages. One is your current belief about what being more stylish would mean. And then another one is what you want it to mean and what you want to believe about being more stylish. Okay? And then after you've got this journal exercise done, then you'll have a clear direction of what you want to work towards. The list that you made of what you want to believe about being stylish is actually available to you right now. And you're asking me, what are you even talking about? How? So let me explain. Let's say that right now your current belief is if you spend time and money and resources and you know, whatever on being stylish, brain power, energy, whatever on becoming more stylish, that it will mean that you are irresponsible and selfish. That's what you think it means right now. That's your current belief. Because that's what people tell you that it means, right? And let's say that your belief that you want to have about what it means is that you are a confident woman that knows what she wants and can ask for it. So you have one belief that's your selfish and irresponsible and one belief that you're confident and can ask for what you want and get it. So those are the two examples. Okay? So your imagination is the keeper of all of the positive emotions and experiences that are for you. So the list that has both of the lists came from your brain. Both of the lists came from you in your mind. And the one that says, I'm going to, I want to be stylish means that I am confident and can ask for what I want and get it. That's what came out of your imagination. You were the one that thought that or something like it. It actually came out of my, but you see what I'm saying. So the list that came from your very own imagination is what's available to you right now. Do you know that that's how everything is created? It was in someone's imagination before it was created in the world. The internet, the phones, nail polish, hairspray, carpet, look around, look around your room that you're in, the car that you're in. Someone had that thought, someone had that idea in their imagination before it was actually in the physical world. So this might feel a little woo for some of you, but it's time to introduce the woo. Woo gets a bad rap because there are so many logical people in the world that need concrete evidence to believe something. And that's really unfortunate because in order to have concrete evidence, someone had to do the thing first. And in order to do the thing, they had to imagine it first. They had to be in their minds first and in their imagination first. You can't always have concrete evidence before the idea, before you do the thing. Because sometimes it's your thing to do. So it's got to come from your imagination. Imagination always comes first. So if you're looking at that list that you just made and telling yourself that you can never have that or it will never come to pass, it'll take too much work, it'll take too much money, too much time, etc. To get it, then you are going to be stuck creating the exact life that you have right now. In order to create something that you don't have, something that's different, you have to imagine something different, something that you don't have, you have to imagine it first and then start creating it. So if you're a person who wants to be more confident, wants to dress better, wants to have a mentor like me to hold your hand and walk you through into unshakeable self-confidence and be so stylish, then you have to imagine yourself doing it first. You have to spend the time thinking and imagining working with me, being more confident, wearing more stylish clothes, because what you think about you create, start thinking about and imagining the stylish woman that you want to be and start thinking about and imagining being in those places that are going to create that for you. Being in my style program with amazing new friends and exciting new ideas and style inspiration coming to you every single day, having me as your style bestie. If you don't imagine having it, you will never have it. What you think about you create. So create some habits of thinking about yourself with more confidence. Thinking about how you want to feel, thinking about how you're going to be intentional, about how you look and how you feel and what you put on and how you dress and how you carry yourself. You've got to start thinking about those things first before they will actually come true. So if you want to feel more confident, you have to imagine yourself being more confident. What would that look like? What would you be saying to yourself? If you didn't have all of these nasty, mean thoughts in your head and somebody could just push a button and zap and they're gone, what would you fill it with instead? What would you wish was there instead? You've got to start capturing those things and then start intentionally putting them in. It's not about changing the thoughts. It's about becoming aware of the thoughts and deciding which ones you want to keep and which ones you don't and then the ones you don't want to keep, you replace them with things that you do want to think. It's not about changing them. It's all about replacing and the way that I think about it is we are loading up the back of the car with all of the things that we love and it turns out that there's no room for the garbage. Somebody else is going to have to carry the garbage in their car because I've got too much stuff in my car that I want and so the garbage has to go somewhere else. There's just not room for it anymore. That's what I think, that's how I think about the path and the process that I've gone through the last 10 years is I have just pushed out those thoughts because I have added and created and spent time thinking about more positive things about myself.
