Stellar Blue Coffee introduces a charitable initiative, "We Brew to Rescue," where each ready-to-drink can sold funds one pet adoption, connecting consumer purchases to real-world animal welfare. The cans are crafted with 100% Colombian coffee and include protein for sustained energy across morning and workday routines. The show’s segment highlights the NFL season, analyzing key matchups, injuries, and player performances—particularly focusing on quarterback Caleb Williams’ recovery and the emotional impact of his injury. The discussion also delves into broader cultural conversations around masculinity, internet memes, and sports fan reactions, including criticism of perceived softness in players and the humor surrounding social media reactions. The team addresses injuries to key players, such as Jayden and Kale Williams, noting their health status and recovery timelines. A notable moment involves the end of a college football game where NC State’s final play backfired in a dramatic and controversial fashion. The show also promotes NFL Sunday Ticket and DraftKings’ sports app for fans, emphasizing access to live games and live betting. Throughout, the discussion balances serious injury analysis with lighthearted commentary, reflecting on toxic masculinity, internet culture, and fan loyalty, while maintaining a focus on sports integrity and player resilience. The narrative underscores both the emotional and social dimensions of football, from player perseverance to public perception.

Welcome to part of my take presented by Draft Kings. The crown is yours. Today is Wednesday, September 23rd. And boys, we had James Winston on Monday night football and it didn't look great. I mean, James hasn't gotten any reps. He needs a week with the one. James is a reps guy. He's been, he, you know what? I give James a PFT greetings of an A plus. Okay. Because his assignment going into this game, you have to, you have to understand a lot of people that just watch these games on TV. They don't know what the assignments are for each, each guy out there. Yeah. James is assignment going into this game. Be the best backup you can be. Yes. Gas up the boys on the sidelines. Yes. James A plus absolutely delivered. If you don't understand that that's what his job was, sadly, you're not a real film watch. I agree. Give him one week with the ones next week. They're playing. I don't remember who they're playing. Oh, they're playing Titans. Titans. James is going to go off. I was just more sad. We'll talk about the Rams. But when James, it sucked the Jackson dark got hurt. The giants like had a torture watch on Monday night football, where you have all the vibes as high as they could be after the Cowboys win, where Jackson dark plays a legitimately very good game. Everything's working. Defense looks good. Camp scataboo. And then you get into this game. Arvel risk gets hurt. Jackson dark gets hurt. Malik neighbors hurts his shoulder. Then comes back in. But it was, there was a moment there where we were like, what did giants fans do to deserve this? Because it really, really sucked. And it sucks that Jackson dark probably is going to miss some time. But the giants, that was last year's giants or the year before, the year before that. That's what we watch on Monday night football. And when Jackson dark went out, I was like, Oh, James, like this is going to be this game is about to get crazy and fun. Didn't go that way. I think it's fair to say they still need some help protecting the quarterback. Yeah, that's still a big need for the giants. I don't think that any amount of harball in the locker room can fix that overnight. I thought Jackson dark leaving the game trying to come back in. They had to steal his jersey. Yeah, they had to the people in the locker room. I don't know if it was the doctors, the equipment staff, some sort of coach actually had to take his jersey away. So he wouldn't try to get back into the game, which is great news if you're a giants fan. Yeah, I think he's like, I got to get back out there with Cam, Cam, when Cam fight his cam's losses. Yeah. And the Rams, I kind of expected the bounce back and boy, did it look good, especially the Devonte Adams part because Puka not playing and Devonte Adams being he looked like like Devonte Adams of old. He looked like stretching the field, catching these deep bombs, Stafford look comfortable. He did have like one Stafford throw where it was like, what are you doing? Dude, there was two guys draped over Devonte Adams. Like, fucking, I'm just going to throw it up there. But and I think Stafford did. Stafford become six all time in touchdowns last night. That believes so. That's right. Yeah, hallfamer. He's going to be a hallfamer. Just amazing shot a while ago. Amazing first half from Devonte Adams too. Just like lit everything up. And it looks like for a while, you know, they were, they were just kind of a red zone pairing, like Matt Stafford. Right. And it was like, I'm just going to get inside the 10 yard line, you're automatic. You're my go-to guy. And I wasn't sure that Devonte Adams still had it in terms of like that all around receiver and deep threat. There were a few times last night. It's like the timing's there with him and Stafford. He was throwing the ball before he was open, trusting that he would get some separation. And it was, yeah, the, I think the Rams, the Regents fall or maybe who we thought they were before the season. Credit to McVeigh by the way for saying like, sometimes your coach is a dumbass that doesn't understand how time works. Yes. And yes, I like hearing that because as a dumbass that also doesn't understand how time works, it doesn't also mean that we can't be great coaches. Right. Right. Yeah. And you're right about the Devonte Adams, like the the touchdown merchant stuff last year. I mean, that's also when Pooke is in there. Yeah. Pooke is stretching the field, but that was a scary sight for anyone who's in the NFC to see Devonte Adams feel like like that was a classic Devonte Adams game. I know the giant secondary is being dubbed. And I just trust McVeigh so much that even if Devonte Adams was out for a while too, he'd find one way to get one of his four white tight ends to be a downfield threat too. Somehow, yeah, you end up seeing Parkinson running like a 4 3 40. Yeah, Terrence Ferguson scored last night. Yeah. What'd you guys think about this Rams jerseys? Gross. Disgusting. I did not like. I, I didn't mind it, but that's just because I grade Rams jerseys on a scale of like, they get a, they get a lot of leeway because they've got some ugly ones. I made the yellow worse. Yeah. Yeah. I, so my first reaction was these are disgusting. Then they started to grow on me. Then I saw Harrison Mevis in it, and it went the exact opposite way again, where I was like, oh, these are really, really bad because Harrison Mevis, he's a big boy. It's not flattering. It's not flat. If you're in really good shit, like a lot of things, if you're in really good shape, those jerseys look good on you. Yeah. And if you're not, they kind of, it's kind of like a highlighter for BMI. So the higher it is, it's like, it draws your eye to it. Yeah. Like, if you see Davante Adam standing next to Harrison Mevis, you're looking at Harrison Mevis and those jerseys, and you don't want to be looking at some of these. No, Davante Adam's looks cool. Harrison Mevis looks fat. Yeah. They're kind of like, they're very Swedish coded. Yeah, they are. I feel like this is Ikea football. They also, yeah, it just doesn't feel like a real NFL team. Yeah. It feels like a fake at like a NFL team, you'd watch in a movie about the about the NFL. About the league. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. About like, this is the Kurt Warner story. Yeah. That's what we're watching right here. We're watching the Los Angeles bananas. Yeah. Oh, gross. Don't don't put that idea on it. Fuck you for putting that in the universe. Football. Fuck you. I don't know if it would work. I don't think I don't think doing a backflip over the middle. If a fan, if a fan can get out there and make a tackle during a play, it counts. Yep. Yep. Okay. That was Monday, football. Also, I don't know what it is. Aaron Donald, his, so his return. Yep. He didn't have like a maximum. He didn't have a spectacular Aaron Donald game. Max was rooting so hard against him. Max, you admitted you were rooting against him. It was personal. I just don't want Aaron Donald to be as good as Aaron Donald used to be because that's bad for the Eagles. Okay. And I was also right. They didn't get a sack. Didn't get a sack. Yeah. He did get a tackle for loss. Not a sack. I thought it was a tackle for loss. He looked which. I have a question. Is it another way to say a sack? That's incorrect. Well, you could just a separate. Well, no, but a sack is a tackle for a loss. It's just a random thing. But a tackle for a loss is not a sack. Right. We randomly say it's a sack because it's the quarterback. Oh, because the quarterback, it's now a sack. But it really is the actual definition of it is like it is a tackle for a loss. Here's a thing. You think it's more weight. Do you think it's more valuable for him to tackle. Here's a thing. He's more talking about tackle for a loss for him. We're talking about sacks. Would you rather have him tackle for a game? This is also a fight that the two of us are having that listener has no fighting. I'm not fighting either. You guys are fighting. No, that sounds racist that he's like it's more impressive.
when he tackles a white man, what? Yeah, quarterback. You're like, oh, sack. Who was playing quarterback last night? Jackson Darts. Jackson Darts. Yeah, for the majority of that game. Starting, what do you mean majority? You don't like minorities? Oh, see, the majority means that he played a majority of the staff. You're discounting the minority. So the minority cornerback actually was Jackson Darts. Correct. Wow, that's interesting. Oh, you saw your saying that he's being replaced. He had a minority of the snaps. Okay, interesting. I think you've revealed a lot about what makes you tick today. And thank you for that. Yeah, we actually had, so we were to catch up the listeners. We were interviewing Scotty Sheffler at the team hotel last night, and we were waiting for Scotty Sheffler. And I realized this, we've been doing this show for a very long time, and we've been in these settings a lot of times, and we got to start recording them because whenever we're just all sitting in a small room together, we just start doing a show. Without the show, without anything on. And so we started doing the show about Max Hating Aaron Donald. I think we should, I think we should start recording that and then putting out a best of what didn't make the show. Max does root against Aaron Donald. He's admitting that, but it's mostly just because he thinks that Aaron Donald is a threat to the Eagles. Yeah. We do have a lot of these on PM TV of what you're describing. I don't think you've never heard of it. Aaron Donald, check it out on our YouTube. He looked okay for not having played football in a couple of years. I just invented PM TV. That's exactly what you did. Whoops. Okay. My bad. Oh, that's why Shane had the camera. Yes. Oh, man. Okay. When else going on guys, anything going on in the NFL world? Yes. We talk college football. Yes. Let's do our injury check in. Yeah. Let's do the injury check in. How's Jayden? With Dr. Hank. How's Jayden doing? Dr. Starrow. Dr. Hank, can you give us an injury roundup? Probably. Drake May, Clean Bill of Health. Okay. I'm good. Thank God. Jane Daniels. I don't know if it's because we talked about this on the show and the algorithm, just the, there's a lot of memes, not AI memes about about his teammates leaving him talks about. I don't know what happened at ASU with like people celebrating when he left. But there's, there's rumors in Scuttlebutt, which I, I don't believe. I, I believe if T that there might be some locker room issues with Jane Daniels. I don't know how that's related to his injury, but-- - Hank said he doesn't believe though. - Good, yeah, I'm glad he doesn't believe that. - It's just the speculation just goes up and up by the day and there's just more and more. - One thing we want to - Is speculate. - Did teammates really have a party for him when he left the issue? - Yeah, some of the teammates were happy that he left. - Yeah. - What? That seems-- - We don't know. - You can, the rumors are out there that like, maybe they didn't love his mom. - The Jackson Dart one was crazy. Like I assumed there was, this was like a taken out of context of something. Did you see this one? - Oh, side by side? - Yeah, I mean, it is apples to oranges because one was the very last play the first half and the guys were on their way to the locker room and the second was during a play and the guys were staying on the field. - Yeah, I figured, yeah. - They wouldn't walk off the field if they had another play they had to run. The other was, honestly, I don't think that you need to make up stories about Jaden being a locker room problem. - Agreed. - Amanda's, there's enough, there's enough to go around to talk about Jaden and the injuries and the will he won't, he should he come back. - Yeah, this seems unnecessary. - It seems unnecessary. I honestly do not believe for even a brief moment that his teammates don't like him. From everything that I've heard, his teammates love him. He was voted captain by his teammates. - Yeah. - So, and this is the first year I think with Dan Quinn where it's had, they've had season long captains and not just like week to week. And they voted him as a captain. - What, quarterback has to be a captain. - It's not all, it would be a, not always. I mean, if you're a third year player. - Right, you've been in the spot like, if they wasn't the captain, that would be a big red flag. - But if they hated him, I don't think they, the point of what I'm saying is I honestly don't think for even a second that, that team doesn't like him. I know, from what I've seen and I pay a pretty close attention to the commander's news and like interviews and shit and train camp, they love him, his teammates love him. So, I'm not, I'm not worried about that. - There's just a lot of talk, not only about the injury, but kind of how he is off the field. And the same with Kale Williams, because he's perfectly fine. He's probably practicing today. - That's just not true. - Hold on, hold on, would you put him ahead or behind of Drake May in the health power? - Yeah, I put him on healthiest second Drake May. - If you take out, if you take out grade two and three hamstring tears, what's the most severe hamstring injury you can have? - Grade one, grade one, which is what Kale has. So, discounting two and three, he's got the most severe one that you could have. And thank God his body is like Wolverine and he healed so fast. I don't know why all these disgusting, you know, Andrew Tate, Connor Filiberto, Dave Portnoy's of the world are just making fun of a guy for showing a little emotion. On a football field, football's an emotional sport. - I sat, it wasn't, I think it might have been in New York, but I sat, and you guys talked about Mac Jones crying getting taken out of the field. - That's because he had for probably an entire episode. - Let me ask you a big cast specifically, it's being like, if you're a quarterback and doing this, you guys suck. - Let me ask you a question, Hank. - This is not a sign of a QB1. - Yeah, I asked you a question. - The DUI's that he had, like blood shot red. - Oh, that was, yeah, that was the DUI. That wasn't the DUI. - No, no, no, no, no, no, no. - No, the crying eyes, you just made up, like you just tried to deflect. - No, the DUI's is what we were talking about. - Yeah, the DUI's, no, it wasn't. - It was not. - Well, let me ask you a question, Hank, are you, how old are you? - That's, you can't ask that question in the workplace. - What? - That's a legal one. - That's a good point by Hank. - Yeah. - You're not all about that. - How old is he? - He's 30. - Never asked Dave Porton how much money he makes. He never asked Hank. - His age. - Why, never asked Dave Porton why does he only take one bite? What, you're 34? - Whoa. - 33? - Yeah. - Okay, you're 33. - Would you say that as a 33 year old, you're the same guy as you were, you know, when you were 25? Like this Mac Jones thing you're bringing up, I was 37 years old and only a father or two. People can change. - This is, this is like, how long ago was this? - People can change. - I had forgotten. - I think about, I think about 37 year old me. I was so immature. - I'd forgot about the Mac Jones tears. Thank you for bringing that up. - I was so immature. - 2022? Was it? - 2022. - So, I mean, how was I, I was 37. I mean, that's a, that's a baby. I'm not even a man. - Would it Mac Jones? - Now I'm a man. - Oh, a high ankle sprain. - Is a high ankle sprain? - Crying is actually good. - I don't remember the grade. - I would see the thing is, I'm watching this from afar and I'm secretly envious of Bears fans. - Why? - Because this is, 'cause our quarterback is Wolverine. - This is what you would want if you're, if we're talking about injuries during the week, as somebody that's dealing with the other side of that coin, I would much rather my quarterback be a giant pussy than be injured. - I don't know if giant pussy, that's a lot. - That's a lot. - That's a lot. - I would throw that out of port. - I would love it. - Do you know? - If he was a big winner. - Okay, so in the moment, he was very hurt. - I pray for days like that. - In the fact, we're having an injury. - In the moment, he thought he was very hurt. And then, did you guys know that your heart rate often rises just before it had to start a crying and drops breathing slows and respiratory sinus arrhythmia. So it actually calmed you down. So, basically Caleb healed himself in those moments on the cart. - Which is actually amazing. - It's incredible. - The human body. - We should be talking about that. - So you think that he went down with it. - When the injury happened, it could have been a great three. - Great three possibly Achilles. Okay, that's just a different part of the body. - But you don't know, we don't know. The doctors weren't able to look at it. They got him on the cart. He put the towel over his head. Quick little cry, heelt. - Like what Caleb did was he made his own personal injury tent with the gatorate. - Correct. - And then while he ran there, he responded. - Yeah. - Yeah. - That's impressive. - Yeah, that's impressive. - We should be talking about his ability to have as a quarterback. - His ability to come back from injury is insane. - It's surreal. - I have a question. Either of you toward your hamstrings in the past. - Yeah, I had a grade two. - I have. I had grade two borderline grade three was almost all the way toward through. - What was your reaction to that? - I don't remember, I don't think that anyone knows what it was. - I cried. - Okay. - Yeah. - I don't think it's possible to tell. - I think I actually was. - I might not have heard of this. - Unlike NFL quarterbacks, I don't get these injuries on film on a football field. - What was actually, oh wait, shocking that we do have this injury on field. - What is this? Are you saying people can't have different responses? Have you ever heard of people who are in shock? - If they have a different response, they don't even remember something. - I heard a big hat, trauma is by individual to individual. - Exactly, max. - So one individual can handle it a little bit better than another individual. - One individual can be really, really tough and strong. - What part of? - And a real guys guy. - What part of Caleb's handling of it was not good? He was retweeting stuff about, like he seems to be in his fields about it. - No, not at all. He's taking notes. - What? - He's taking notes online. - Let me look up his retweets. He's writing these down. - What do you mean? - I mean, some of them are retweets. - A porn oil. - A porn oil is a disgusting pig. - What about, yeah, what about the TikToks? - That guy made some great points. - Toxic masculinity. - Toxic masculinity is a problem in this world. - Right now, some of us are displaying toxic masculinity. - Exactly. - Some of us are actually,
Yeah, mature adults who understand that it's, first of all, the way these guys are battling every Sunday for our enjoyment and then they get hurt and oh, they're, they're now soft as you say. Come on, please. So you're saying. So you're saying, if you call them a pussy. No, I said, I would rather, I was playing a game, would I rather, and from where I said, I would rather people be saying those things about my quarterback, then to actually have a quarterback that is, you know, maybe his left arm might fall. What were you asking? Uh, you're saying that he, it's okay for him to have feelings while simultaneously saying he's not in his fields about people chirping him. I don't know. I, you, how do you know that he's on in people's fields, retweets are not endorsements? I'm looking at his Twitter right now, but everyone knows retweets aren't endorsements. I have it in my bio. He does not have that in his bio and, but there's no retweets, he's also gone all over multiple platforms, repost on TikTok with a guy on Instagram made some really good points, really, really good points about how this world is, I mean, we're going to hell in a bucket. All right. And those guys don't even know how to make girls calm. Right. Exactly. Yeah. I don't. Wait, what? That's what, that's what, that's something I started off. The other one was the, uh, people are like weirdly, the, the, the, the losers going after Caleb are weirdly attracted to him, which I think that's true. I think Dave is probably attracted to him. Uh, I'm looking at, I'm looking at the retweets from Caleb. There's no recent retweets. I guess he deleted those or he un-retweeted them. That's fine too. But he slipped. The most interesting reply that he has is a guy that was talking about his hot ones appearance saying, going to door dash to 12 piece and sit in my living room, but ask naked with a bottle of bourbon. So it feels like me and my bro are eating together and he replied, cry, cry, cry. Yeah. He killed most recent. That's the most recent. Killed for the fans. What are you showing? PFT's hamstring for. I just wanted to see it. Oh, I forgot about that. We got hurt. We didn't have this on camera at a football. Oh, yeah, I popped. I kept running a little bit and then I get to the sidelines like a football guy. Yep. Get out of bounds. That's good. Get out of bounds, young man. This was probably grade one as well, right? Yeah. No, it was a very high grade two, almost grade three. Listen, I had the same thing to do as PFT. No, I talked about it a lot last year, even though I did the interview. I can submit my MRI if we want to analyze it. I'm all right. Mine too. You guys are just being on the side. I scored on the plan. You did. Got all the way there. Tuddy. Tuddy. That was a grade two. Yeah. Very high grade two. Almost grade three. Almost grade three. If you want, you can feel the lump in my hamstring that's still there. You're not even walking with a limp. I didn't know. I did. You had a limp with a big lump. Yeah. Also adrenaline is a thing. Yeah. Killed by the limp. You had a light limp. What are you saying? Are you saying you didn't have a light limp? No, he had a severe limp. Now you're just trying to race the facts, memes? I read reports and I feel like you didn't want him not to play this week, just so you can say he's more injured than he is. No, the place is Wolverine, like I said, he's, he's somehow the greatest ever to come back from injuries from severe grade one hamstring injury. He wanted to play. Yeah. Roller coaster yesterday of being like, let me attack everyone who said he's coming back because it seemed like he was going to come back against the Eagles. And then you were like, oh, oh, okay. Well, no. And he's probably not even going to play this week. And you said that. You don't have the injuries. Accents of relief. No, no, no. Yeah. The injury news. It's all over the place. There was relief when you said that. This week, then it was not even back. I wanted to play. And he, he'll probably play because he's the toughest guy I've ever seen. But you were like, oh, listen, two, two, two guys, two guys, two guys, two guys, two guys. Oh, yeah. Because everyone's freak out. As I've heard it, Tom Pillicero says that he's playing and then chef says he's not. Let's get on the same page, guys. But wouldn't you be? Let's see that you're part of that. Two guys. One guy on Barry. I am. I do. I wanted to play on Monday. I'm so upset. I want him to play on Monday. But you were relieved when you, you know, because I was relieved that they were actually getting real news. Tom Pillicero is just conjecture. Wild conjecture. That also wasn't real news from Shafter. It was real news from Shafter. I trust Shafter. He's never been wrong about any injury news, except for the one that he got wrong with Kobe Bryant in the preseason. But that was specifically about the bears. Maybe his bear sources. Isn't great either. Neither here nor there. I remember I was going to say, but it was going to be a good point. How long is Jay? No. It depends. He's seeing a specialist today. They're going to tell him whether or not he needs the surgery or not. My fear is that he's going to try to play through it. Give himself like three weeks off like you did last time. Put the brace on. Get back out there. And then America will have to watch him just locate his left elbow the next time he tries to brace himself for fun again. And that's I don't know. Nobody wants this. I know that he's a tough guy he wants to get out there and compete. He's trying his hardest to get out there. Oh, I wish that he could play next week. That'd be awesome if he was healthy enough to play next week. But what happens if he has to get the surgery? Then probably out for the rest of the season. And there's Hank root for injuries again. That sucks. Yeah. Room for injuries. This whole I was thinking about this on the way and this whole off season has felt vaguely starting. It is. No, let me finish my point, please. It's felt recently in DC vaguely snider-esque in the way things have gone. He injured starting left tackle in preseason out PR mistake involving quarterback out. New offence coordinator asking quarterback to do things that he hasn't done before. Check stadium renderings come out after a bad loss against the division rival check to like pat you on the head. They're there. It'll be okay. I catastrophic injury involving your quarterback in the future. Check. It feels I don't want to cast dispersions on Josh Harris, but it feels like I can blame LeBron for this. That LeBron has has taken Josh Harris's eye off the ball because he had to spend the entire off season coddling his new player for the sixers. So I kind of blame Josh Harris for LeBron James, by the way, at the Rams game, not a practice. Not a practice. And Josh is probably very concerned about that. Not a practice. In LA. He seems like he doesn't want to leave LA September. Yeah. Can I do real talk for a second? Real talk. I think the internet is crazy. The fact they're not applauding Chicago had two serious, serious injuries on Sunday. Alex Breggman broke eight bones in his face. And Kale Williams had a severe mild one or severe grade one hamstring. And both guys are going to probably play like that's insane Chicago tough. That's crazy. Those are very similar, right? Both very similar. But no actual real talk, I enjoyed the hell out of yesterday because the memes about Kale were funny. I like that's the internet being the internet. You can't actually be upset about the memes. They were like there was. You don't know that. You know, you know how he's feeling or the king of don't tell me how I'm feeling. Henry Lockwood. I started repulsing stuff on my story and remember this, I remember saying that's that's time. I'll tell you what I'm feeling. Good point. It maybe Kale had passed. It can't exist. Maybe he's got resting injured face. Click that video. The video of the guy. That guy is making a great point. What? What? Emstring. Most of you guys don't even know how to make women come. Exactly. He kind of looks like Colton. Sounds like him. Yeah. Yeah. That's a good, great point. In serious this, the memes were very, very funny. If you get upset about the memes, you're a loser because that's the internet being the internet. I also think there is a weird undercurrent of people who actually do hate Caleb and they will use it as like like it's not a meme. They're just like he's the softest like pussy ever and like this is crazy. Most people are weird to me just because they'll hate Caleb for anything. And I actually am a little excited that it was getting a little too calm. When Caleb gets drafted, the fingernails, everything, like everyone's, oh, this guy can't be a quarterback. And last year he was just, he wins a playoff game, beats the Packers twice, week one happens. People stopped kind of hating Caleb. Now we're back to people hating Caleb and I love it because when he wins, it will be that much sweeter. So I'm excited. I'm excited for the opportunity. Yeah. You'll have it on Monday. Yeah. Hopefully he'll play. The memes were very funny though. I mean, that was a, there was an onslaught. It was from like nine a.m. to, you were getting mad though. You know what? You got mad at memes. What? When? In the morning. What did I say? It means like I meamed. I said, I texted him and I said, meme anything you want from the part of my take main account. Did I not? Yeah. Man, masculinity, you, wait, did you think I was being serious when I was, was saying memes you're being mean? Kind of. Okay. I'm sorry. You were, you were half, you, you like were in your field first and then my tweet. Hank. Hank. Hank. Hank. Hank. You can call my quarterback soft. You can call him pussy. You can do all that stuff. If you thought that my tweets yesterday were not having fun with the whole situation. You're basically, no, you weren't, you weren't. No. What? The tweets I called out, I called out personal sports. I, I saw. I don't know. I know. I saw you yesterday. There were stars. You couldn't really tell what you were talking. That was today. I called them out with the stars cause I don't want, I don't want to be a fucking name searching me. It's disgusting. Hank. I could guarantee you that those memes, I was having a very good time with, with people, the Legos guy, which that is actually a serious injury. It's going to be great once the, you're right now of trying to gaslight. What's the brand start getting involved? That's when it's really going to. Yeah. I think we're about like three days away. Oh, the brands are getting approval. From Honda for spiring off. Like McDonald's doing, uh, when the, when the milkshake machine is down.
- Yeah, no, these people are toxic masculinity as rampant in our society. Clavicular, Dave Portnoy, Andrew Tate, Connor Philberto. - I hope, I think we'll be back. - The big four. - Are Bayer fans actually mad at the memes? - Of course, anyone who is being a loser, I think Bayer's fans are mostly more fighting against like people I was talking about, the undercurrent of people who actually hate Caleb, like actually despise him and want any excuse to like call him out. If you're mad about the memes, you're a loser. Those memes are funny. - Memes like they'd say, ultimately do you, I think Caleb probably is sitting at home right now being like, I probably maybe wish I hadn't, you know, taken the cart, knowing that I'm not that injured. Like, what, it happens, what are you gonna do? - Memes, did you get upset at all the Aaron Rodgers memes when he towards the killings? - I still get upset because it gets tweeted out every single day. - Yeah, it has really lived on. And he actually towards the killings? - Yeah, that's a real injury. - Yeah, snaps. - That kind of like, there's not even one. - I didn't think about that until, until yesterday, and I was like, memes has just been dealing nonstop with Aaron Rodgers American flags. And like, I don't even think about that meme as being, like, something that's even related to an Achilles. That's how, that's how Poison, my brain, has become from the internet. But it must suck as a Jets fan, like all day every day, to see a reminder of a very promising season that got brought down by an injury and like, the second place. - Yeah, yeah, you just see it, but people just like-- - It was such a sick head. - They rubbing in your face because it's just like, "Oh, it's a Jets. "Who cares like your quarterback got injured." - It was a bear's quarterback, yes, injured. It's, you can't meme it. - No, you can. What are you talking about? Who's saying you can't meme it? - There are bears. - Yeah, there are bears fans. - But Jets fans were saying you can't meme it too. - No. What? - We just said, we just accept it. - Oh, come on. I think we're, I think we're just using some things here. You can definitely meme the kale of injury. - I didn't say tweet, I was talking, we were together all day. - I told, I text it memes right away. I was like, unload the clip. I don't give a fuck. It's funny. You gotta do it. You gotta do your job. - Okay, I was wrong, my bad. - I mean, they're like, it's a ridiculous story. It's a ridiculous, the whole thing is crazy. He's not that hurt. And it's funny that it all happened. - It's great. I thought he was, in that moment, I thought he was very, very hurt. Yeah, the bow tie doctor, I don't trust by the way. That's when you get a guy, a guy can't go on TV with a bow tie. I'm like, I'm a doctor. - I love doctors after like a big injury happens that they just call the news. And they're like, hey, hey news. - Yeah, I'm a doctor if you wanna have me on the news. - Yeah, I was, yeah, the guy who said the, yeah, this is Barstle Sports being gross. Conversely, yeah, it's disgusting stuff. Barstle Sports is a plague to society. I think we can all agree. - Yeah, some of the longest-term employees, I would say Barstle Sports, agreed. Yeah, Blutman getting it on it, sad stuff from Blutman. Really, really sad. That's a good quote. I'll just remind everyone, crying doesn't mean your week, sometimes it's what you need to do to get strong again. - You get a lot of crying and he got strong really quick. - Yeah. - Thank you. - So, point proven. - Great quote. - Yeah, and the. - I thought I was being dead serious with that quote. - In the serious injury, commanders wrap up, 14 starters are out with injuries now. - 14. - 14 out of 22. That's, I would love for the biggest controversy to be that my quarterback can't handle a little bit of pain. - Yeah. Do you see the exclamation point? That's the giveaway. - Mean, memes, exclamation point. That's a pretty good giveaway that it's, I'm not actually saying memes. - But counterpoint to that, I think we're entering like minute 10 of you arguing that you're not mad. - Well, because I don't like that Hank is doing this where he, I guess I now realize that's good counterpoint. - Yeah, it's good counterpoint. - It's good counterpoint because he didn't come with any facts and he just said that, oh, you were really mad. - Yeah. - He is gasoline. - I know. - I now understand why Hank gets upset at us. - Yeah. - I get it, he's gasoline. But you let's hear about the commander's injuries. - No, I was just saying 14 out of 22. - Yeah. - That's a lot. It's a lot. One guy had to spend the night in the hospital. He almost died. - It's bad. - It's bad. - Hope Nick Cross is okay. - Okay, anything else with Caleb or commanders or any injuries? - Dallas Goddard. - Yeah, what happened with him? - He's hurt. - But he got Zach Hurtz. - He got Zach Hurtz back. - How long he was discovered out. - Couple of weeks. - Okay. - Yeah, it'll be fine. - Did you cry? - Probably, I don't think he cried. - I don't know. - The Eagles do a very good job of like, that's what Big Dom does. - He makes sure nobody can see that. - Cover up the tears. We also should just be talking about the fact that Caleb's mustache did look cool in that moment. - Oh, it look great, yeah. - It look really good. We need to have more conversation about his chisel jaw. - He did look much about the tears. - As far as a guy crying, getting carted off the field, that was probably the hottest, it's ever looked. - The Trump Caleb mashup was pretty good. - That was good, yeah. - Fight. - Flats in front of him. - It was crazy. We went from Caleb Derek Rose mashups to Caleb Trump mashups. - The media. - Yes, yes. - It was like memes to like the saddest of grade. - Yeah. - Like clowning him. - Ultimately in 12 hours. - Yes. - The fact that he's not very injured is making it so that we can, people can laugh about it because it would have sucked. I mean, I did think he tore his Achilles in the moment. Very wrong. - Very wrong. - Very wrong. - I'll just say one likely to land on IR is just okay. - What happened with him? - It says stinger. - Yeah. - How can you go on the IR for a stinger? - Well, I've never, like, long stinger. - Have you ever stepped on a B? - It hurts. - Actually, I don't know if this guy is legit. - I'm just watching by fake doctor. - Max watching film. - Yes. - I am watching film. I've, we've had a really busy couple days. Turn, all 22 doesn't come out right away. That should, they should do that. And then Monday we weren't, I wasn't by a computer for the entirety of yesterday. So I've gotten in the film this morning. I'm about two and a half drives in. There's some good plays, there's some bad plays, there's notes on almost every play. That's almost every play. - Some plays, it's just like, everyone did their job. - Everyone did their job, the defense did their job, and it's like, it's a run for a three yard game. - I would actually, I would actually love breakdowns of the most boring plays of the week. - Everyone did a good job on this play. - Blocked it up, beautiful yard game. That's what I'm talking about. - No, no, no, no. - Those are not no note plays, no note plays are runs where we just didn't get quite enough push and the defense filled the gaps. Those are my no notes plays. - Got it, that's a film watcher right there. - Yeah, yeah, that's the thing about film, is that. You gotta, I got nothing on film. I'm still trying to figure it out. There's some plays where I'm like, I think that this person should be doing this, but I don't know if that's their assignment, so I have those in the notes as well. - You just have to guess sometimes. - I guess I'll just post a full breakdown of all of my notes when I'm done with them. - I like that, I've been watching film too. - All right, yeah, how's it been going? - Slow, it's a grind, it's just a grind 'cause you gotta watch every player, you watch one guy and then you rewind, watch the play again, watch a different guy. - So a lot of that, everything. - Yeah, so unless you're focused in only on one player, I don't know how Paul does it, it's fucking insane. - He does so quick. - I know, I guess when you know what you're looking for. - I think probably just-- - Probably a little easier. - I think he just watches and he just hopes to see violence on every play. - Yeah. - And he's like, oh yeah, that's some good violence. - That's it, the condor. - That's some good violence. There's a shark in my backyard, hang on, the condor. - Looks good. All right, let's do some college football. I win the big. I haven't seen that. That's it's a little early to be doing that. Well, they're saying it's career. Yeah, it's career. Yeah, we need I think a bigger body of evidence. I actually thought and Max hopped on Wub this morning and I agree with his point that like I watched that game and I was impressed that LSU came back. Obviously Trinidad Chambles was phenomenal. He's he's rapidly going up. I mean, he's the best college football quarterback right now. We'll have to see when Darian Menta plays someone with a pulse. But LSU coming back was impressive. That to me was more of like a is Sam Levitt, a little overmatched type of deal that it was Lane Kiffin. They could have won the game, right? The opportunity was there for LSU to win and they had a quarterback that just then there were like two plays that stood out on that final drive, where there was an opportunity to win the game. And he didn't make the plays. So you could say, yes, sliding doors moment. That's also on Lane Kiffin, by the way, for not having him prepared to make those plays. Like that is coaching to a certain point too. I also, I don't know that we can say he can't win the big one at LSU yet. Oh, I don't agree with that. This also was an environment. This was maybe the biggest one though. Like this was an environment that I can not really think off the top of my head of more hostile environment for regular season college football game than this. I mean, it's this or the Michigan Ohio State after the mace year, you know, but even then that wasn't, I think Michigan, Michigan won that game, but they weren't, I know, was that the one that might have been the year when they put the flag down with the year they won. When they went into it though, they weren't a playoff team. So maybe not as big. Yeah, I mean, we have rivalries and LSU Ole Miss is always a big game, especially if it's in Oxford. Like they hate Ole Miss. Yeah, the crowd was awesome. And the crowd was great. You know, a very, very intense environment to play in, which is great. I love to watch it. Good for Ole Miss, by the way. That's got to feel really good for those guys. Yes. And Trinidad Chambles might be the best college quarterback. Yep. I don't know if he's going to be necessarily like the best NFL quarterback or talked about in those, like is he going to be a top 10 overall pick? I think he might be though. Yeah. If he's not depending on how tall he measures in at, I think he probably should be talked about as being the guy that you want. Like maybe I'm prisoner of the moment right now. But Trinidad, he's clearly a better quarterback than archmaning right now. And I don't think it's close. He's. 64. Yeah. He is older. Six feet. He's six feet. Six, one, but everyone's saying six feet. By the way, he's 24. Yeah. Did Trinidad's older than Drake Bay? They're the same age. I don't know. The birthdays, but. I'm just saying Trinidad. Right now. Trinidad Chambles. That's going to be a problem. That is. He's right. It will be. But he is the best college football quarterback. Yeah. You know what I'll say? I was too old to be a good rookie in the NFL. Can he pick it? Tyler Schuck. Oh. Yeah, sure. That's true. Good point. The Ole Missile has the best resume right now through three weeks because they beat Louisville on a neutral site and then they beat LSU at home. They have. We're in that portion of the schedule, which I think these teams are good, but they also haven't played anyone. I mentioned Miami. Like Georgia, Georgia, we talked about it on Monday, but Georgia doing defensive line work in TV timeouts because Arkansas wasn't like doing enough to get them work. Yeah. Was so. So, like. Kirby just. I think he's got a ship back to him. Kirby. He's got a little edge to him this year. I. I'm thinking about the other games that happen to notable stuff. Kentucky was an awesome win for our guy, Will Stein, on the road, Texas A&M, top 10 team. He might have been a fraud, top 10 team, but still, there were 17 point underdogs. They win outright. That was awesome. Like, very excited for Kentucky fans. Yeah. It was great to see, and he was pumped up after the game, too. Yes. I don't know. Kentucky might be secretly good. Oh, yeah. I mean, they had. And Marcel Milligan's Alabama for a half. And Marcel Reed might. Can Messi give the Jersey back? Yeah. Marcel Reed's not very good. That's looking back. It was hilarious in the moment, but looking back that Jersey swap is going to be even funnier between him and Messi. But yeah, good for Will Stein. That's awesome. Did you guys see Archmaning? He said we are the fucking storm, which is just a. It's bad. That's a pretty hard quote. It's bad. Did you guys see that Archmaning has basically. They ripped his personality out after the AI controversy. He did a press conference. He's a robot now. We're never going to get another quote out of Archman. That's. I mean, he's never. He's learned his lesson as a man. He's never done ever showing you any personality. Yeah. Well, you guys have officially beat me down. I'm not going to pull my pants down and put my butt cheeks on a trainer anymore. Yeah. Do any of that funny wacky manning stuff? Ball sack. Ball sack. It was a ball sack. I think it was a ball sack. Okay. A legend. Yeah. I mean, this was going to happen eventually. The mannings we're going to get to him be like, "Hey, you can't say this. Just keep your mouth shut. People will forget about it. And then all states are going to pay you $60 million. They're about 10 years. Yeah. That's where we're now getting like this weekend. Make sure you're watching college football. We've got. We finally got like the weekend where it feels like there's some big, big games. USC, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Florida. Like there's some big Texas A&M, or sorry, Mississippi State, by the way, Camario. He's awesome. He's. When they talk about like the ball jumping out of your hand, watch him play football. That's what happened. I think he might be the second best quarterback. Yeah. He's playing. He's incredible. Like he's fun to watch. When do they play? Who? Mississippi State Ole Miss. Ooh. That's the end of season. Egg bowl. I do also. I will defend our guy, Brandon. I do think that it sucks that the discourse now with today's college football is if a player's really good on a lesser than team, everyone immediately is like, can't wait to see him play on Ohio State next year. It's them all big. Yeah. Yeah, maybe Yankee. You're a Dodger. Yeah. It sucks. It does. Maybe Mississippi State alumni will get together and just say, let's scrounge up every dollar that we have. Bring back more cowbell. Yeah. So, do a cowbell drive. Yeah. So, a limited edition Camario cowbell, all proceeds go to keeping Camario in Starkville next year. Yeah. You touched on it very briefly on Sunday, but I feel like it should get talked about more because it was, I feel like it kind of got swept under the rug, but the end of the NC State game was one of, like, the most insane endings to a football game I've ever seen in my entire life. So, I assume a lot of people listening have seen it, but I'll just say it anyway, NC State was leading all game. They were up 31, 28, I believe. And they got, Vandy was driving with like two minutes left, NC State got a pick at the goal line, so they have less than two minutes left. All they got to do is get a first down to run out the clock. They get to a situation where they're on the two yard line, they're six seconds left, they're up three. All they have to do is take a safety and most likely win the game by punning, doing a safety punt and like, you know, they're going to have to do a lateral play, whatever. The NC State quarterback goes back in the end zone to take the safety, doesn't go down and Vandy strips them, falls on the ball, wins the game with one second left, kicks the extra point, wins by four. It was so mind numbingly stupid. The, the point, like getting a safety was the right play, but you just have to run out of bounds. Not even that. Yes, you can just run out of bounds. You can also just pull, you can hold everybody on the offensive line can intentionally grab their guy, tackle them in the end zone, and it's still going to be a safety. That is to play. We've seen it countless times like, it's a, it's a smart move to take a safety there. Also cool thrown, Greg Siano, like, yeah, when it looks like it's time to take a knee, played to play to the E and whistle, yeah, finally, finally, Greg's master plan worked out. Just go out of bounds and then punt it, like do a safety punt, even if it was three seconds left, they're not going to win the game that way. He could have taken his helmet off the quarterback could have ripped his own helmet off and thrown it into the crowd from the end zone. And that would have been the correct play in that situation or, or just throw the ball from there. Yeah. Like, why didn't you think about throwing it? Just throw it deep, throw it way up in the air. Yeah. Yeah. Just run, there's a moment where he goes back and then he runs forward. I know. The moment where you run forward, just go backwards. You're right. How many? It's the only, it's, it's so stupid. It's, it's, they're just kids. How many, uh, they're just kids? How many people watching that game change the channel after the interception and was like, well, this one's over, not me because I knew NC State. They do dumb shit. They're always capable. I knew innovative ways to break your heart. I was watching this and, and I was watching it live because I had NC State and I thought they were going to do the dumb move of trying to punt, which that was on the table of them punting and then Vandy catching, doing a fair catch, immediately infugal range. Yeah. So when they lined up, I was like, oh, they are actually doing the smart thing. Guess, guess what? No. They actually did the dumber thing by not going down. Well, it was, it was maybe the dumbest finish. I would say this is maybe second in a recent, recent memory behind that. Was it Miami, Georgia Tech, yeah, where they just decided to run plays, crystal ball decided to run plays at the end of the game for absolutely no reason. Yeah. Oh, man. So, so brutal. Uh, I also have, uh, I want to read a couple headlines for you guys. Are you ready for this? So organs had a tough start to the season. They were one in one going into week three, uh, they lose so almost
they struggle with Boise, they then get Portland State at home, smash spot. Oregon wins 84 to nothing. Here are the headlines after 84 to nothing by Oregon. This is from the Wall Street Journal. Is it rude to win a football game 84 to nothing or am I just soft? That's an actual headline. That should have been a poll. Yeah. And then the other one was Oregon's cringy blowout of Portland State, a different kind of embarrassing shame on them. Cringy blowout. It's a safety issue. So Daniel, I didn't can't win. Yeah. Well, he loses. Yeah, they want but they lost because it was a cringy blowout is very cringy. Are you even happy as a ducks fan or you hope ultimately you'd rather lose that game. Yeah. I do sportsmanship. Obviously, we we have draftings as a sponsor. I've no no shocking news, but I love to gamble. But when this one guy was like, I was like, maybe maybe we are talking too much about gambling, because I saw this one treat on my algorithm. Some guy was like, this game is rigged. Watch Oregon score a touchdown to ruin my teaser of under 85 and a half. And I was like, dude, there's no way they're thinking about rigging Oregon Portland State for teasers on totals. Yeah. In college football. That's a you might be gone too far. At that point, you might want to just like have some ego death. Yeah. Probably take a heavy dose of psilocybin. Do you realize that the world is not about you? Do you know how hard it would be to to to rig a game and but have to make sure you cover all teasers as well. It's perfect crime. Just be like, Hey, not only are we going to rig this for the spread, but remember, there's seven point teasers, 10 point 13 point. We got to we got to cover all our base. I mean, I didn't want to get into it, but you kind of forced my hand. The the PFT is with the bucks and the browns. Why did they why did they delay that football game? We never we never used to delay football games ever before true. And now we're delaying them all the time. My theory is it's the government because the more football games that they can delay because of weather, the easier they can sell us this climate change stuff. And start taking carbon taxes. And oh, you you think that the weather doesn't impact you? Well, guess what? Oxford, Mississippi, we're going to have to delay a football game because there's a thunderstorm in the area. Bet you love Democrats now. Give us all your money. That's my theory for why my personal teas are lost. I like that. Yeah, it goes deeper than you think it goes way deeper. That's very deep also in the matchup of the Sweeney's dabbo versus Bill Belichack. That was a tough loss for UNC. Yeah. Real tough. Other that was also a weather delay. Also weather delay. Yeah. Exactly. Real tough. You and see I don't know if they look good or it's just like this is the new normal with Clemson. No, I think UNC is very similar to how they were at the back half of last year. They have a good defense. Not at the end of the game. Well, like they they were selling out to try to stop the run in the guy should have gone down. Yeah. Well, no, me like the last I think it was the last three drives for basically the airfield. Yeah. But I mean, there's a weather delay. Mm-hmm. The weather delay fucked them. Yep. The government. Yeah, that was a big win for dabbo, which is kind of a sad state of Clemson football that that's a big win. He needed that, but he needed that bad. I would I would love to just have you and see in the mix later and have them like maybe they're going to be the the ACC championship game. Maybe they'll be a spoiler. They could be. You never know. Yeah, get ready for this slate though this weekend. It's going to be sick. Also Texas Tech used to was a great game. Texas Tech. Those polto seems good. I don't know. It's I guess good for the big 12 because they didn't they didn't take each other at like Houston beating Texas Tech and Houston losing later. I think that's the hardest game. Texas Tech's going to have so BYU. Yeah, they have BYU. I think it said home. I can't remember. They might actually not have BYU. They have a very easy schedule. I believe that is like remark. I think that was West Virginia. Richrod is back by the way. That was a big win for them. Yeah, they know they don't have BYU. So that was that was there. Okay. And they have West Virginia at home. So that was their biggest game of the season. They, you know, passed that test. They should be able to not cruise, but they they have an easy road ahead. Okay, breaking news. Bad breaking news. Hank. Sad breaking news. Jackson Dart. Most likely out for the year. That sucks. I feel bad for Giants fans. Yeah. Giants fans got the old run around because you had about 10 minutes last night where you were like, oh, shit, seasons over. This is the worst. Yep. Life is pain. And then you got the ray of sunshine when you had number one, the sideline reporters and the Adam Schefters of the world reporting might not be that bad. Yeah, might be back soon or rather later than you had to lip reading experts on the sidelines, looking at the trainer and saying this might be him saying four to six weeks. And then today, they kind of have to go back on that. So it should be illegal. What happened? The course of you should never have this happen. It should always be the worst. And then you get better. Yeah. So yeah, the worst better. That's the way to do it. Yep. I would agree with that. Now, you should be allowed to sue Adam Schefter is where I'm getting at. Yes. Emotional distress. If you're a Giants fan, that's a bunch of bullshit. So feel bad for Giants fans. Jackson Dart. Like even as a, I'm going to do the as a commander's fan for them, but they were such a fun team to watch. Like I like, I like watching him play football. It sucks. I hate that he's in the division. But I like watching him play and and the turn around had a lot of promise. One week, you look great. And then all of a sudden, it's the things get taken away. It's brutal. The Giants have not had a quarterback start every game in a season since 2018 with Eli. That's insane. Yep. I all the, all the good vibes, everything that was coming after week one, and it's just ripped away. That it fucking sucks. Yeah. Was that the 2015 draft? Jamis, Mariotta, one, two. Yeah. Back. Yeah. Both back in 2015 all over again. Yeah. Brutal. So feel bad for Giants. I hope it's not an ACL. I hope it's just like, I don't know. We're not, again, we're not doctors. So the fact that his foot didn't look planted gave you reason for hope. But I guess there's other ways that things can tear. I don't know. We don't know what it is yet. I don't think that they even know the extent of everything. And if they do, they're not going to tell anyone. No. Can I have a little point that was actually pointed out by our good friend Tom Fernelli, just now he texted me. Can you pull up and we love, we love Shrager, his new show. You can go watch it in rap port. You can't be reporting news, looking like your trigger 16 year old in high school. Pull up the, there it is. Watch this. Play the clip. You can't report season ending news in a T shirt in a leather jacket. T shirt with a duck. Yeah, that can't happen. Make that jacket. Make, make the screen play this clip. Yeah, but that can't happen. Do you agree? That cannot happen. You got to put on something. The viewer on the listener is going to be very confused. We cannot show that. We got a tweet because we're going to get one of these like, oh, all the producers suck at their job. Why can't they put, put this clip in rap, put this clip in rap port. Looks like he was outback smoking a cigarette when he got the news. He was like about to hop on his hog and ride away with his old lady. And then he got a taxi. He's like, ah, better go back on the TV and report this. Now back home to my son's van. Okay, that's crazy. You got a, you got it. It sees an entering ending injuries need to be reported with a suit in time. I mean, he looks like he's like chilling at a ski loss. Yeah, listen, I, there's got to be decorum in this world. Ideally, you'd like for it to be like somebody coming to your door and knocking on it like and taking their hat off. Yeah, delivering it to every fan personally, like sit down on your couch. The marines show up and they're like, hey, there's a car. It's dark. You're in your farmhouse. And there's a car that you see coming down the road about like a quarter mile away with all the dust kicking up. And then you just go out to the front porch. You open up the door. You see Adam Schefter step out of the car. And you just paint into your rocking chair that's how he says Jackson starts out for the year. And you just say, why do I care? I live in Nebraska. Yeah. Yeah. Like why are you here? She is. Who are you? Yeah. I'm, I'm going to shoot you. Um, get off my property. Also other injury news. Obviously nowhere near the jack star. We do feel bad for giants fans. Like that. Just sucks. Your season felt like it was going, everything was going in the right direction. And then to have Jackson Dart miss the entire year. It's just, it's brutal. Absolutely brutal. And it feels like they're going to just go back to what they've been doing, which is being like, uh, four to six win team with a couple frisky games mixed in. Who knows? Like that's a, that's just sucks. Who knows? Max, do you want to say something as an Eagles fan? You feel bad? No, I don't feel bad. Um, we're going to get more jammy. That was so easy to just say you feel bad. You feel bad for giants fans. I feel bad. No, I feel bad for Jackson Dart that he's injured. Do you feel bad for giants fans? Okay. Is there any giant fans? I don't like to see the play like that that hurts is, you know, is his future is, you know, it's sad for Jackson Dart, not sad for giants fans. I'm sad for giants fans. Why? That's what you're just lying. Okay. I'm sad for Jackson Dart. Me too. I'm sad for the other players on that team. Not the fans. So you're sad for the team. Yeah. For the players on the team. Correct. But no sympathy, whatever for the fans. After all they've been through. They won two super balls. That's a valid point. Yeah. Point. Um, I don't feel sad. I didn't feel sad for you actually when Jane Daniel got hurt. I'm pretty much a player on the team. That's why he's part of the organization. Max, other injury news, are you ready for Case Keenum?
'cause you're about to get a buddy. - Yeah. - So Tyson Pageant in Cushion Protocol. Case Keenum. Yeah. - There's one notable game the case Keenum played the Eagles. - And it did go a little very well. - Not a lot younger, I would say. But yeah, we're gonna go case Keenum on Monday night. What a fun event. - Ben Johnson though. Ben Johnson. - That's the Michael Pannex scheme. - And we won't be caught Michael Pannex and then we also got case Keenum. - Yeah, right. This is a surprise concussion. 'Cause I don't think anybody knew that he was hurt, right? - He got hit really hard on that last play. - Okay. - So I think that's what it was from. - Okay. - The last sack, if you wanna pull it up, I believe was what it was. But yeah, Case Keenum. I had a few people be like, this is how I found out Case Keenum was still in the leagues. - Case Keenum. Case Keenum actually, I think his neighbors with Caleb and good friends. Yeah, this is the play. - Oh yeah. - He got slammed to the turf. I'm gonna try to do one of those analogies about like what to expect with Case Keenum. I think Case Keenum is the Andy Dalton of Cooper rushes. - Okay, wait, hold on. - He's Keenum. - Andy Dalton is better than Case Keenum. - No, that's not what he's saying. That's not what he's saying. He's the Andy Dalton of Cooper rushes. - Oh, I think he's better than that. - What would you put him at? - I think he's like, oh, he's one of the great career. - He's one of the best of the rushes. - Cause Case Keenum was, did have a like a legitimate good year. - He had a couple years in Minnesota and then a decent year in Denver, I wanna say. - Yeah, he made that up. - 38. - He was our starter going into a season one year. - Yeah, so I think he's better, he's, he's, and he might be the Patrick Mahomes of Cooper rushes. Do you think the Patrick Mahomes of Cooper rushes? - No, no. - Because Cooper rushes are bad. - Right, right. The Patrick Mahomes of Cooper rushes might be Drew Locke. But Drew Locke was also a starter. - He slings it. - Like, Drew Locke was, I don't know. Cause Case Keenum was kind of like drafted as like a backup kind of. - Kyle Orton might be the Patrick Mahomes of Cooper rushes. - Yeah, but there's, yeah, this is very far from being Patrick Mahomes of Cooper rushes. - True, yeah, true. - Okay. - And also he's not, by the way, he's not maybe more. - Case Keenum. - Tom Brady of Patrick. - Case Keenum's. - I think Tom Brady is the Nick Folls of Cooper rushes. - Yeah. - Of True Blood Sows. - I'm great. - Case Keenum's good year. - I think that might actually make a lot of sense if you think about it. - Yeah. - Case Keenum's good year and the NFL was nine years ago. So it's no longer. He might be, he might be the Jack Strand of Cooper rushes. - At this one. - Which is also like an improvement. - Maybe. - Or maybe the Philip River of, that would be good though. The Philip Rivers of Cooper rushes. - Yeah. - Yeah, cause, yeah, journeyman and old. - Yeah. - Max is getting, what you guys are doing. - It's okay. - I think I'm kinda getting that. - Max, we're trying to get in. - That's the point I'm saying, yeah. And nodding and I'm moving on. - Yeah, we're there. - No, come on, you can be nice. - You're being nice. - That's not gonna be a nice, yeah. - I'm feeling weird. - Good point, Max. - We're gonna stream this game, Max. - Okay. - We'll stream it. - Yeah. - Case Keenum in week three is, you never want to hit the case Keenum button in week three. - It's a little early in the day. - It's drinking all that case Keenum. - Way too, way, yeah. - It needs to prescribe you Case Keenum. - Yeah. - You can't just be getting, case Keenum off the shelf. - That's the way till we get off work before we start casing. - Yeah. - Okay. - Also, Caleb Williams 2-4. We talked, we talked about that. - We did, yeah. - We didn't. - 2-4. - Yeah, so we're actually taping this like three hours after we talked about everything. So is verified 2-4? That's the top frame. - Oh, generally that. - I still feel like we don't have a real answer. - We don't. - That's from rap before. - It certainly seems like Caleb Williams unlikely to start this week and next week we will see 2-4 weeks generally the diagnosis for these kind of hamstring injuries. - Yeah, not really. - Which are pretty severe hamstrings. - Not really. - 2-4 weeks hamstring. - Which is why? - Super severe. - I mean, 2-4 weeks is what's the, a cicada's life is what three weeks? - Yeah, and when you think about a fruit fly. - Yeah. - This is probably like thousands of fruit fly life. So Caleb Williams got the death sentence for cicadas. I'd say for at least like 10,000 fruit flies. - Yeah, and in time, just put it into perspective. - Civilization of flies. - Next time you make a joke, just stop yourself and say, what if Caleb Williams is a fruit fly? Maybe tough. - And then be like, wait, why did I ask myself that? What did these fucking guys say? And then you go on with your day. - All right, let's do hot seat cool throne. So I think I might just be an age thing, old eyes. But yeah, there was the video of Jane Daniel's teammates running away, even though Mark's Mario had a state. People are saying, if you're glad, I'm glad we're. - Some people are, like, if it was halftime, wouldn't that mean they had time to watch to make sure he was good? - No, it means they're all leaving the field at that time. At halftime. - But it's like, all right, it's a break. Let's just make sure our quarterback, our franchise quarterback, our captain is a, like a move. - Halftime is free time. - Got him. - You can do whatever you want. - Right, so they, if you want to say how have you knew whatever you want. - Yeah. - Right, so they could have stayed. - Most coaches, they could have stayed. Like if you'd like to sit on the bench by yourself, read a book, that's cool. But they were like, if you, so if you want to stay and watch your quarterback, that's cool. But they were like, nah, let's go to the locker room and like, eat an orange. - Yeah, that's what they do. Yeah, Dan Quinn passes out Tangerines, actually. - You read very ugly. - And the barrel drinks. - But regardless of that, that was not my point. That was not my point. - Right, there was another. - This is a misstep because the thing I am not concerned about at all is that his teammates like him. - Me too, I trust, I like him. - You know, so remember, he's gonna spend all his time trolling. - You are my guiding light in the situation and I thought about that more big cat. I don't think, you know, as a 41 year old man, that's not, I don't have time to be, I don't have time to waste trolling a 33 year old man. - A 33 year old man, boy, yeah. - But there was another video circulating today of LeBron James in like a preseason workout, just bricking shot after shot after shot after shot. - AI. - I think so. You guys watching and you tell me, - Yeah, you say maybe the judge. - I genuinely, that's where I'm a little skeptical. - Max, when you bring it up, I noticed you didn't look this one up. - You have Miami Georgia Tech. - Well, we were talking about Miami Georgia. - Yeah, we were. - Are you gonna? - I've sent it if Max can, you know, lock it and find it. - Also, how did you send it? - I've got it. - I texted the group. - I've got a brown fan. - We could just type in LeBron brick cat. - Oh yeah, I saw that guy. - Which one? - Did you, the guy who tweeted us or no? - No, the different guy. - Okay. - Different guy. I think his name is like number one Cleveland Browns fan. - Okay. - Which is a great-- - Oh, that was brilliant. - Okay, let's see what he's doing here. - Brick. - That's a tough shot running. - This is sad, what are you guys doing? - I'm not doing it. - Sad. - That's from half court, a little heat check there. - That actually makes it, you're terrified. If you're looking up LeBron practice videos for-- - I'm not looking these up. These are flooding my timeline. - Flooding. - He's had a double flood. - Flooding. - If you've been paying attention. - That's hard to have, too. - It's hurricane season. - It's, it's, Hank has recently been stricken with, in ability to tell what's AI and what's not. So he's just asking us for help. - Yeah. - 'Cause he used to be real. - Like did you see the video of Trump and Vladimir Putin wrapping together? That was, that wasn't real. - Oh really? - Yeah. - But these videos, you're like, they might be real. - This one looks so real, but it's LeBron. So it's like, there's no way he's throwing up as many bricks against absolute nobody's. - Yeah. - Sure. - No. - Right? - Yep. - It is kind of crazy. - Oh, it is. - It is through the ball at a bench. - This looks like our Friday afternoon pickup games. - It does look like, you know, fuck. - He definitely sucks. - Father time is undefeated. - Yeah, for sure. It's come right now. - For who? - It's come for LeBron. Yeah, I mean, we're talking about high school gym practice videos. - Yeah. - That's a, that's a telltale sign. - First thing you, you-- - He stinks. - First thing that you lose is your building. - We may as well just cancel the season. - You're telling me that we have practice videos at a high school gym. - Well, it might not be real. - Oh, yeah. We're watching full tape right now. - Well, I like that. Oh, yeah. - Yeah, you don't watch tape. - Oh, yeah. - Cancel the season. LeBron's done Celtics champions. I guess Paul George, he's young, right? - Yeah, he's got him in the great hairline. The jail and Brown fencing, those are cool clips. He's in France like practicing fencing. - Is he really? - Yeah. - That's not your guy anymore. - He's sword fighting. - I know, I miss him though, I mean, I miss him. - It's cool. - Why is he practicing fencing? - 'Cause he's jailing Brown. He's a eclectic guy. - He should be practicing defense. - And then my cool throwing is Flashlands. National Sports Show. Nationals. Sports Pod. - But are the fart guy. - On national sports television today, I saw a segment I woke up, turned on my TV, was watching Fox Sports 1, and saw Saints quarterback, Tyler Shock talking about how my fart in the off season, what did he say, he said, "Waves through the locker room." - He said, "Shock waves through the locker room." - Was he talking about the Saints locker room or the Pelicans locker room? Because they. - I don't understand why this is, I was wearing the. I said that on the show, it was close to the Pelicans facility. I said that because I was explaining why I was wearing that dumb ass hat. Yeah. Yeah. It was because your initial, your initial explanation why you farted was they share a team facility. They do. And that's why I was working the hat. And that's why the clip was embarrassing. Not because of the, the, the, like, the fart echo chair, but because I was wearing the hat. Because the facility was connected to the same facility. But yeah, but either way, like, go share, you know, it could have been considered a bad moment. I never thought about it that way. And it's clearly inspiring our guy, Chuck. So no, I don't think he said the word inspiration, definitely didn't say inspiration. He may have. No, I think he, I think he might have said the, the first half has been the first half of the first game was bad because of Hank's fart. I don't think he said that. I'm pro, the fart being the difference maker for Chuck also Chuck did say, uh, Kelly Moore gave out more game balls and meetings on Monday when they watched it. Okay. Love that. So more than six. Did he say how many? He said the big guy's got a bunch every offensive line. Yeah. So I, I was happy because I was my first question. I was like, dude, what happened? Only six game balls. He's like, no, he went back for more. We got to get those numbers up. Yeah. My first question was about Hank's fart. Yeah. Good. Good question. Okay. PFT. You said government in tune. That was crazy. What? 100 lockup. Well, yeah, you're journalist. 33 year old. Yeah. I mean, 181. 181. Wait, what, what, what did you, what would you like him to call you? If he's listening. Well, I don't call him Christopher. I wouldn't say, hey, Christopher, but then he followed, I also noticed he followed up with a Hank. Right. Which was good. Yeah. That means he was, he was very aware of your prowess in that. Yeah. He respects HIPAA. Okay. So just for future reference, I'm never to refer to you as Henry again. You can. But again, like, I'm not going to call you the E word. Thank you. I could. But out of respect for HIPAA, I don't. Okay. Jerry Julio and his got the e-pass. Yeah. Yeah. Dan Campbell. Dan Campbell. Dan Campbell. Dan Campbell. Oh. My hot seat is Mike McCarthy. Hey coach, the Steelers. Okay. A lot of people are saying the Steelers offense looks a lot like it did last year in the year before that and the year before that and the year before that were people were part of that. Yeah. We have said that. Yeah. So yeah, when I say that, a lot of people, I do include this room because it does. If we're being honest, 100%, but Mike McCarthy is not on the hot seat for that. It's because it feels like Aaron Rogers is exercising almost too much accountability for himself. And I think he has to get his quarterback in line and be like, Hey man, you can't take everything. Yeah. All the blame on your shoulders. You can spread that around a little bit. We're a team here. So Aaron Rogers, after the game, he said, the best teams are player-led teams. We have to keep taking ownership in a game like today. There wasn't a lot of flow to it. We need to be better. And it starts with me. That's really mature by Aaron Rogers said that really, really mature. He says starts with me at making sure Mike McCarthy knows what's working, what's not working, and that our coaches know so we can all feel like we have a better chance. So this is a great job by Aaron Rogers taking full responsibility that he needs to do a better job of educating his coaches of what plays they're calling and which ones suck. Yes. That's good accountability. It's really good accountability. Really good accountability. And I think there's a big step forward for the team. I'm looking for the Steelers to bounce back this week. What a leader. Big leader. Yeah. My cool throne is going to be James Madison. And it's not because necessarily we have a 19% chance of making the college football playoff again this year. Oh, yeah. But the fact that I thought looking at the rest of our schedule, what that's going to have to mean for me for the rest of the season, which is going to be a lot of talk about how easy your schedule is. And I would never attack a team for playing an easy schedule. Like if you get your wins, that's, you deserve every advantage that you have in the playoffs. And if someone were to find you attacking an easy schedule, you could simply just say, well, that was old me. If yeah, yeah, that's 41 and I'm mature and evolved. And I was like, you're part of the bar solidification of the universe. Yeah, I'd agree with you. Yeah. You can't be held accountable for things in the past. Right. So that's crazy. That's crazy. It would be here now. Yeah. I'm currently not committing any crimes. Right. So I don't know what your problem is. Mm-hm. Also Virginia Tech's fault. And James. So I looked at the numbers. Wait. No, because they canceled the game. You canceled the game. You don't play them. Yeah. You were supposed to play Virginia Tech, but Virginia Tech can't. I mean, this has happened against multiple power conference members, where they just canceled games against Jamie. So we can't play a hard schedule anymore. But the stat is we're 23 and 0 against the state of Virginia. And since 2015, and we got another one coming up this weekend against ODU. But I thought more about what that's going to look like at the end of the season. It would be great to make the play off again, like twice in a row as a little bitty school that used to be FCS. But then what would that look like? It's like every year we make the college football playoff and we get our asses kicked. Mm-hm. And that doesn't seem like a great like, and what, what max? I feel like that seems like the best case scenario for you right now. I know. That's what I'm saying. That's a very weird best case scenario to be in, is to make the college football playoff, go up against like the third best team in the country. And then hopefully cover a 21 point spread. And that's kind of, that's a weird place to have that be the ultimate goal for your season. But anyways, you play who's in front of you. I'm just, I'm excited. I'm excited that Jamie is back in the conversation a little bit trepidacious of what that's going to mean. Hell yeah. Hell yes. Uh, all right. My hot seats, I don't really have a hot seat. I have a cool throne. Uh, yeah, we've talked about everything. My hot seat is anyone who made fun of Caleb. I'll just say that. All right. My cool throne is, uh, Dishon Watson, because Todd Munkin said that he's, uh, a young player that is going to continue to grow. Yeah. 31 years old. Yeah. He's older than Patrick Holmes, Josh Allen, Joeborough, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens offensive coordinator. He's a young player that's continue to grow. I'm a little concerned about what parts of him are going to continue to grow. Young player continue to grow. That's, um, yeah, it's sometimes coaches just get up in front of the media and they're verbally just hitting the fast forward button to get them out from doing more media. Yeah. It's like, let's just get to the end of this practice. I'm going to say words that I've heard other coaches say before and hopefully you won't follow up. And then I can go back to doing my job. Yes. Yes. Young Dishon Watson. Ideally, young Dishon Watson was a great player. 31 year old. Is that make Hank old at 33? Yeah. For a quarterback. Yes. Yeah. In Lester Tom Brady. Yeah. Or in Rogers. Yeah. It's taking accountability. Mm hmm. All right. Hotsie. Cool throne. Zach. My, uh, Hotsie this week is going to be miracle drugs, uh, because we may be at the end of the line when it comes to GLP ones boys. You see all the lawsuits that came out this morning? No. Uh, all GLP ones are apparently making people blind. Ooh. Are you guys familiar with what are they still skinny? Uh, I don't want it 99, 999 of them out of a 10,000 maybe, but also blind. But if fat and can see blind and skinny. So skinny, maybe can't see yourself skinny though. So. Still fat. But then you can't find the fine eyes are working pretty well. I've taken them as well. Yeah, I feel like you took them like once a year, once a year, I got to get back. Oh, you haven't been taking them? I've taken them. What's the most consistent you ever were with taking them? Wedding. No. Before the wedding, I was taking them pretty consistently. Is it something I usually drugs aren't you supposed to like, when you get sick and they give you antibiotics, you're supposed to take them every day until you're better? Well, it's supposed to be once a week. And so you just are like, you know what? I'm taking a couple of weeks off. Like every drug. I'm just going to, I'm going to do it whenever I want. No. Okay. Sometimes you forget. You're taking recreational gel. No. No. I got to get back. I got to get back. You're just smoking it. When you feel like it. Okay. No. I got to get back. But you can see. Yeah. Eyes are good. Eyes are good. How many people are blind? So they're saying right now, one in 10,000, probably get it. And it's, I think those odds are fine. Yeah. You're trying to get sick. Is it permanent? They said, yeah, so it's not, not permanent, definitely permanent. It's antiretic. Wait, what? Perier. So it is permanent blindness. Like it leads to like, it's not like, oh, I couldn't see for like two days. But now I'm back. Are they called antiretic, ishmedic, optic neuropathy, and it leads to rapid and permanent vision loss. So I thought we were in a good spot, but back to square one. I thought that this time, the miracle drug that made everybody lose weight and get skinny was going to come with no side effects. Yeah. They made it seem hot. Like we got all the commercials. We got great guys on. No, everybody making it seem like good idea, but yeah, Shaq wouldn't put his name behind it. No. Inferior product. What's the number? What's, if I, if I said to you, the max is upset, I feel like one in 10,000 every single drug has some sort of side effect that was, that was Hank doing his max impression. Yeah. That's pretty good. No, that was, that was honestly a fair, but what, what would the number be for you to not do? So like, if I told you there's a miracle drug that gives you endless energy, makes you look hot. But a hundred out of, or maybe a thousand out of 10,000, do you die? I need you to take that. I need to go one, one out of a thousand out of 10,000 would be one out. That's one out of 10. No, it's not. Oh, yes. Yes, it is. Sorry. I didn't know you needed me to reduce the fraction. One out, everyone were, you're always supposed to reduce the fraction. Okay. Sorry, I didn't reduce the fraction. One out of 10. Ten out of 100. One out of 10's too many. Too many. Ten out of 100. That actually sounds bad. That's also one out of 10. All right. What about?
three out of a hundred one out of one out of a hundred is where he started to have the conversation. One percent, he won't sense that I'm saying I'm still considering a one out of a hundred one out of 10,000. Yeah I mean it would be real shame if I got it. It is funny though to think about like how our brain works like what's the number if they're like hey this thing will fix everything but all the one out of one out of every 20 people die are you you're like hmm am I am I good yeah 19 or am I one ultimately this I think it does a lot of good like a lot of people losing weight that really need to lose weight probably probably extending a lot of lives out there definitely certainly but like blindness. Blindness is a tough side effect. What do you guys thought of 10,000? I might be down to go blind if I was born blind but I think becoming blind has to be way worse because you know you're missing. You're also one one paranoia guy. That's true. Oh Zach I disagree with that though I know what you're saying but I think if you have some frame of reference to how the world works and then you go blind yeah you know what you're missing but at least you understand like conceptually what things are. Oh that's fair that makes a lot of sense actually okay. I think that this is a worse headline than if it was like one out of 10,000 people die. Definitely okay yep. Like just in terms of like shock headlines if it says one out of 10,000 people go permanently blind for the rest of your life people are like oh shit like that shocks you a little bit. They said they were they're flooding their zone with lawsuits today so I'm sure. Also not to be like super woke but I assume all of these headlines are just the drug companies fighting against the food industry and they're just playing it out online and sometimes so they will get another one in a couple weeks it's like there are no side effects for GLP ones and they're actually miracle drug and then the food industry will come back and say actually you die re out of your asshole and die and then we just have to decipher which one like the people that that's just all this stuff is yeah they might have just got me with the minus big company big big big food and big drug having a nice old dust up in the streets of the internet and we just were the ones to suffer from all and then meeting behind the scenes with a negotiator being like guys if we can come to understand everybody can eat yeah there's room to go around we just got to compromise you you need to it's like a mob meeting yeah sit down behind the scenes like you need to go 10% softer on the accusations of blindness and you need to pull aside like some of your most potent drugs that are making people not cheetos yeah lobbyists is gonna get involved and we're gonna nerf the GLP ones and then the GLP want the drug companies are gonna get like stock options in big food yeah sir for you and the losers will be us again a lifetime supply of Twinkies sir for your dedication to public health that was what's like keep America fat but you guys can get a piece yeah right exactly that's how all this works then my cool thing is we can be active vision because we're finally hammered down on a guy's virtually cheating recently they came out that a chain of video games 8.5 billion dollar in industry annually and we're finally taken to stand okay how all right so they shut down like side of pledge 365 major cheating operations okay sent out roughly 80 season assists they're hammering down on the cheaters it's actually bigger than you think it's bigger than you think it is the ricochet anti-cheat from Activision historically dog shit but now they're just arresting guys like all right if you don't want to play by the virtual terms take these IRL cuffs wait are you serious yeah I'm I'm kind of okay with that me too sent them the brink the gulag yes gone not coming back don't respawn how are people actually getting arrested because like it is illegal to sell these like these cheating subscriptions and these like wallhacks and a bots and the forever greens of stuff is it illegal that by them huh I don't know the answer to that I would want to say morally yes on paper probably but often they just couldn't just go to like a country where not illegal to sell these and then just sell them you're you're describing the war on drugs right now that is you can they probably won't extradite yeah so you probably could go to different country I can only speak on domestic soil what's going down it's nothing's interesting there's gonna be cartels but guess what what you have to do is you have to eliminate the market for cheaters in the United States Joey Greco yeah Ashley Madison that'll never happen though because that's a moral conflict and guys are gonna cheat forever guys are always this is huge it's actually big did you guys watch the Madison doctor but I mean it's like they're like yeah I was 99% dude just talking to each other yeah it's great it's like you just you best golfer on the planet Scotty Sheffler in person is that cool when I say best golfer on the planet I mean you are I mean yes still not still not quite quite used to it yeah you should be used to it yeah I'm the best golfer a couple weeks a year yeah you're the best golfer but we're here presence cups here in Chicago this week very excited for it your third presence cup third presence you're too no is there any pressure knowing like you guys have to win this you have to win the president's cup I mean I think anytime you're representing your country I think you feel the way to that like I think sometimes that almost makes it more challenging knowing kind of like what we're representing like it's not just playing for your team or playing for your partner like we're playing for the country and these tournaments are something that that kind of everybody can get behind yeah but like the nerves and the pressure you feel is like you're doing something that matters and I think that that's a really cool feeling yes is there anything that you do differently in the preparation like team golf as opposed to individual golf mentally has to be a lot different but like besides the obvious nature of you don't want to let you know let down your teammates is there anything different that you do to prepare I mean as far as like the golf stuff not really but I think mentally it needs to be a little bit different because you know every week out of the year I'm doing my own thing pretty much all the time like and if I let myself down that's that's okay like it's a lot easier letting myself down and then when you're standing with your partner I think there's definitely kind of like the added weight to it yeah and so mentally I think you need to approach it slightly differently than you normally would approach a regular tournament but overall it's just a matter of going out there and trying to execute and you know I got some some of my best friends around this team and I'm looking forward to just going out there and competing and and having some fun with the guys right so not to do the thing where regular guy compares himself to a professional athlete but I'm about to do
that. When I'm a terrible golfer, when I play in any type of team setting scramble, I always feel so bad because I'm just letting down everyone that I'm playing with. And I say, sorry, like console. I'll literally be like, just hit a drive, just be like, sorry, my bad dude. Do you think that you being the best player in the world, like your partners ever feel that? Do you have to give them a little talk being like, dude, I'm just Scotty, like, let's go win together because I do think there's an element. I mean, you saw it with Tiger when he played in these tournaments, Phil, when you're the best, the guy you're playing with your partner probably feels extra pressure that you're not putting on him, but he might be putting on himself. Yeah, I think that a lot of that just comes with the team environment. Like I grew up playing team sports and I always felt a little bit more pressure there just because you're playing for your teammates as well. You're playing for something that's you don't bigger than yourself. And I've never had that discussion, but I've always become really close with the guys that I've played with just because going out into that environment where there is so much pressure, there's a lot of stress attached to it. Like, you really feel like you're, I mean, you're stepping into the arena in a big way and it's, it's very important that you're on the same page with whoever you're out there with. You say sorry in team golf? So I have one one one story about that. Sam Burns and I were playing, this is my first presence kept. We're playing alternate shot. And we had agreed not to say sorry to each other. Yeah, that was like, we're not going to say sorry, like we're not going to do it. And we get to, I think it was like the ninth hole and I cold shanked an iron shot off this part three, like a hundred yards straight right into the woods. And like he's completely screwed from there. And like every part of me wants to be like, dude, I'm so sorry. I just like literally cold shank like straight, like clearly going to lose the whole. And we kind of just walk over and Sam's just like looking straight. He has no idea what to say. He's probably never even seen me shank them all before. Right. And he's just kind of looking straight. He kind of just like gives me the look and I kind of look at him. And I was just like, good luck, man. I love it. I love it. If I were him, I would have said like it's a, you should actually apologize. It is, it's a good rule to have. It's a really good rule. Like I said, I mean, when I, I know it's different playing professional, but like when you play in these settings, I just, I just, I like, it's like a machine gun of sorry that I throw it whoever I'm playing. Well, yeah, because you, I mean, you want to be able to perform. You want to be able to hit the shots and especially in your shot where you're actually screwing them over. Yeah, he's got to go hit it. Yeah, I got to walk up to the right exactly. Yeah, but I mean, it's like you want to hit every shot great, but I think having the understanding that that's not going to happen. And so there's no need to apologize. Like I know he's trying his best. And you know, as I'm trying my best at some things that sometimes things don't go as you plan him. One of my favorite things about team golf is, is like the hand shakes in high fives, whenever something goes well, because I think golfers are like over 500,000 on agreeing whether they're doing a fist bump, a high five or a handshake when they're excited. Like, I don't think it's ever connected. I think it's always like, there's only one choice. You know, out of the three that you that you have to make and it never links up. Do you guys have like, I know in team sports, you get traded to a new team, you have a bunch of new handshakes and stuff. Do you guys have anything like that? I think we probably need to be a little bit more connected on that. Like I can definitely think of some examples of like not knowing exactly how to celebrate. Especially some of you like isn't very performative to begin with. So then like when you do get really excited, like, yeah, typically like it's hard to get on the same page. Like I like Bryson and I, this is my first rider cup. We're trying to celebrate something. And I think we almost missed the high five and then we somehow ended up like stumbling into a chest bump somehow. We know what to do. And then like I think I tried to high five them again. He just like walked off. Yeah. Yeah. The problem is with this golf is to sport these shake hands. Yeah. No other sport are you like shaking hands as much as you shake hands and golf, especially at the end of the round. So you guys aren't used to the high fives. We got to get I like the jumping hit bump. You know that like the jump side thing. We need to get like a, you know, I don't know if it's allowed for the presence cup, but it'd be great if we got like a Dominican baseball player on the team just to like teach you guys. Wait, I was about to say we need somebody to teach us. Just loosen it up a little. You know what I mean? You just like have some fun with it. I would like to see something like like a scramble at one of these, if it's the presence cup or if it's the rider cup, like let the boys go out there do a scramble, see how low you can go. Like how, how low do you think you could get with like you're, if you were to pick three other guys from the president's cup team, how low do you think you could shoot at Madonna? Oh, if you have four of us in the scramble, I mean, you could shoot, you could shoot pretty low. I feel like a, I feel like a par would be like a fairly disappointing result. I'm sure that would happen over the course of around. Like we've never actually tried that, but I think you like having four chances is significantly different than only having, you know, one or two. Right. Yeah. How many of us could, now we couldn't be you. Yeah, we could. There's nothing. Like I was saying, like we have 20 guys. We're 20 guys. We're all between 15 and 25 handicaps. Yeah, well, you win a hole. Yeah, for sure. Like golf golf is one of those sports where like you guys can probably all, if you get, if you're given enough tries, you can all do the things that we do. It's not a sport. Probably not. It's not like watching somebody dunk a basketball. Yeah, you'll like never be able to dunk a basketball. Yeah, but but I'll never be able to hit one straight 330 yards. Yeah, but you could hit it eventually. Like you'll hit one to 50. Yeah, sure. You know, like the more you try, you'll learn how to hit to 70. But like eventually you could do something very close, like maybe not hit it 350, but you could hit 300. Yeah, hit it 350. And so I give it enough tries. Like you can pull off the shot. Yeah, you have like 10 guys. You're not going to be able to keep your eyes on all of us. We're going to cheat. Yeah. Yeah. So we can take a couple of those. You don't still have hand foot and mouth, right? Um, okay. Did you ask all the remnants? All the remnants are actually got up until my kids had it too. And we, I actually, when my oldest had it, I didn't know he had it. And I was just like, why is it baby crying? Like, why is he like, why is he touching his feet? And then I learned about it. I was like, oh, this is serious. Yeah, that's so fortunately, Remy or younger or six months old did not get it, but Ben and I got it pretty good. It's brutal. Yeah, it was. You're warrior for being out there. The worst part was my throat. Like I, I remember walking off the course on Thursday. And these guys wanted me to do like my media stop. And I was like, I'm very rarely ever say no. And I was like, no, like I can't do it. And as I was walking off a reporter, I'm really close to it was like, hey, can I just ask a couple of questions while you're walking? I was like, no, I cannot talk. Yeah, my throat was that bad. Um, but that's just part of it. Yeah. Fortunately, like the blister stayed for a long time on my hands. That's like, it was pretty succulent. Yeah. Was it like gripping the club? Um, the first couple days were, we're not great, but it got better as the week went on. They, they gave me like some steroid cream that I put on my hands that helped. Like the, I'll measure if you got popped. Hopefully not. You're like, dude, I just like it. Unfortunately, the tournament had a doctor. And I was like, listen, man, like, I think this is what is. And he's like, oh, yeah, that he looked at everything. And then I should if they were like, oh, Scott, he's on the gear. He's got, he's on steroids. Like, no, dude, my kid has hand for mouth disease. Right. He's like, yeah, I think I got that too. What do you want me to do? Oh, man, it was not. Yeah. No, not fun at all. Not fun at all. Um, also congrats to your youngest who's not a jinx. Cause I know there was a time when he hadn't been in the, uh, he hadn't, you had one, right? And then he was born in March. I didn't win till maybe like August or yeah. Is there ever a moment where you're like a jinx? Oh, I had that with all my kids when they keep were born. It's like, are you a jinx? There's about gambling. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. When gambling, you definitely believe in jinx is for sure. Oh, the kids fall. Yeah. These days, my first, first born was born, I went on foreign WNBA overs and I just, he's a jinx for sure. Do you have any, like, actual superstitions? I mean, I've used the same yardage book for a long time. I used the same ball marker every round. Oh, what is it? It's a Dallas Cowboys coin. Oh, okay. You're kind of a piece of shit. Would you like to apologize? I'm a man. Being a Cowboys fan is not fun. Good. Yeah. No, that's true. Yeah. It's not like I jumped on some bandwagon. Like the last time they made, I think an NFC championship was before I was born. Yeah. Yeah. So like I'm I should get like a board for being as loyal. That is true. Like if you're, I mean, you can relate to that. Like it's not he put a jinx on the Cowboys yesterday. I was like, Oh, no, what's going to happen? They're not going to make an NFC championship game for 30 years. Like they're jinx. I was, it was, it was a moment of emotions were running high after the game. And then I went back. I saw the post that the Cowboys put out before the game on like Friday. And it was Jaden injured lying on the ground from last year's game. And so I was upset about that. So I put a jinx on the Cowboys. I will remove the jinx if you apologize on behalf of the Cowboys. I don't know what they posted. So I can't I can't dive into those waters. We don't we don't celebrate injuries, but the Cowboys did. So I had no choice but to jinx them. But I mean, they look pretty good right now. It's a curse. It's a curse. I was full blown. I was out of options. Yeah. I had nothing. I was just kind of flailing at the world. But they do look good this year. Is this the year? The offense looks good. I tell you what, I was really excited for the season to start just because like we drafted a bunch of guys on defense. Like the defense actually got better as a year went on last year. Like the, the guys we traded for at the deadline. Like and then they played the Giants. It's like this was awful. Yeah, that was bad. Yeah. And then I got to watch a bit of the game yesterday. And it was it was better. But then like you're playing a backup quarterback. I don't know how much that factor's in. But yeah, he's pretty good backup. He is a good backup. I'm still I'm just hurt hurt people hurt people. That's what I'm going through right now. But you guys got to watch watch the games together. That's that's kind of cool. Yeah, it's fun. Like for for me, just be able to sit down and watch football. Like we
We were sitting at the course, and I'm like, my kids are at the hotel, this is some free time that we don't really get it, wasn't the worst thing to get rained out, so we kind of just caught up with the guys and watched the games. Do you guys take a bus to the course? Yeah, a bus, of course. That's probably good for you. Yeah, that's it. Yeah. It's not bad. It's not bad. It's not bad. That all happened. Yeah. Like, it's been enough time now where we can just be like, that was nuts. So, like, people always joke about me getting arrested, like, I got, I got, like, I didn't just get arrested. I got charged with assaulting a police officer, like I didn't just like get like a, like, I got charged with assaulting a police officer, so like Sam actually wore the t-shirt with my mug shot to the, to the, our team room last night, so I love it. The joke continues to. It's crazy. Like, I just remember in that morning, waking up and be like, what's, Scotty, what did he do? Yeah. Had the same story came out or just like, oh, okay, this is not, he didn't do anything bad. It was a wild miscommunication, but yeah, street, you know, street credit for you. Yeah. Don't mess with me. I'll go to jail. I mean, at one point it's got to be, you have to understand what a ridiculous situation it's in. But then when you read, like, felony, yeah, like, excuse me. What? Well, that was, it wasn't like I just went to jail. Like, I got charged with a very, very serious crime. Well, you did ruin his pants. Yeah. I read the police report the other day. I had to remind myself the very last, what is the police report said? The very last sense of the police report was in the officer's pants were damaged beyond repair. Yep. Pretty disgusting. That's the classic Cowboys fan stuff. Yeah. I said. And by the way, credits you, did you, I assume you never dropped like a, do you know who I am? No. I just said I'm playing in the tournament. I would assume. But to be honest with you, I don't remember a whole lot of what happened after. But when I remember him trying to like get me out of the car and I was just like, I'm not getting out of this car until some police officers show up. Right. Like, not knowing who the person was trying to get into my car. And then like, next thing I know, I'm in handcuffs and like the back of the police car. And I was like, whatever this guy tells me to do, like, I'm not saying a word. Yeah. Like smart. Like, I can only get myself into trouble right now. Right. Yeah. Right. But not like, honestly, like the, if there was a video of you being like, do you know who I am? That's the worst for like a celebrity or a famous person. Yeah. I was like, I like, in that situation, I was just like, okay, like I know I didn't do anything wrong. So like if long as I just like do what I'm told, everything will work out and everything worked out. And like, what did you shoot that day? Shot. I think six under. Yeah. It was good. So sad. Is there what's what's a lead that you're like, all right, I'm probably out of this because you had won this year. Was it the masters that you were like 13 back and then you got all the way down to like, yeah, I mean, is there, are you like, I'm always going to be like, I'm going to, I'm going to be back in this because you have, I feel like that is something that you're really, really good at that like you can be hovering around Thursday, Friday and then Saturday, Sunday, come. It's like, up here comes Scotty. Like, this is what's happening. He's making a charge. Yeah. I think it's like, I always pride myself on trying to do my best and like, that's not something that I take very lightly. And so like, if I'm going to show up to a tournament, like I'm showing up to play 72 holes in place, hard as I can, I feel like that's what I'm called to do. Like, my calling when I get to a tournament is to compete as hard as I can. And, you know, there's been some tournaments where, you know, I could have maybe been out of it. And then I played some really good golf to get myself back into it. Yeah. Like, there's definitely some examples over the course of my career where there were some times I could have given up. And like, one of my think about often is like, when I, the Olympics in France, I shot I think maybe like a 29 on the back nine to get into metal position. And it was just like, I remember walking off the ninth green, just so pissed, I wasn't holding any puts. I look at my caddy, and I'm like, I'm like ready to break my putter. And I was like, Teddy, like, I think I'm going to put better with my lava, which is like, it's probably time to break it. Like, it's over. And he's like, no, no, no, no, just don't break it. Like, give it to me. And I was like, Teddy, I'm pretty sure I'd put better with my lava wedge. Yeah. Like, in that moment, you feel like giving up because like, it's a hard game, it can get really frustrating. And but Teddy, talk me off the ledge and we end up going out there and having a great back nine and put ourselves in a position to do something really cool. Yeah. I think when I look back at my career, like I want to say that I gave everything that I could and yeah, like that, that's mental toughness because I'll tell you right now, I would quit so fast if like, if things start going bad, it's like, I'm out. Yeah. I mean, just like if you work really hard for something, you don't want to just give in. And I don't know. I feel like I take a lot of pride. And like, if I get up to a tough start, like, it's part of, you know, perseverance and fortitude and all that stuff, getting in there and just continuing to grind things out, like I, yeah, I'm definitely proud of those things for sure. Yeah, definitely. You should be. I mean, that is like, I really do mean it. Like, there's, there's so many times where I'm watching a golf tournament and in the first couple of days, you're like down there and it's like, Scotty will be heard from at some point. Like, he will, there will be a moment where everyone will be like, watch out, here come Scotty. And that's, you can't say that about every guy, you know, there's, there's some guys that like, when they're, when they have a bad first two days, like, that's it. There's no coming back. It's like, you're always a threat. And I feel like other people feel that too. Yeah. I mean, I just, I really don't have to elaborate on it. I feel like, I feel like when I step up on the first tee, I want to tell myself that, that I did everything I could in order to play well and now my job is to compete. And so then, you know, we're giving another four days to compete. And that's, that's what I'm called to do. And I don't really, I don't really think much, much past that. Yeah. You seem like a process guy, somebody that takes a lot of joy in the process and then the results kind of speak to the work that you put in, but you definitely, in order to achieve what you've done, I'm sure that you have goals and things that you want to accomplish. Like, what, what do you want to have accomplished when all of a sudden done in terms of your golf career? Well, that's a heavy question. That is a heavy question. I've never been a guy that's like written down goals. I've have like what I would call dreams and aspirations, but I've always been on my best when I just live really day to day. And like, I am a process guy for sure. Like, one of my favorite things in the world is going out and practicing by myself. Like, I just love trying to figure things out and golf is a puzzle that can pretty much never be solved. And that's one of my favorite things in the world. Like, I love practicing and trying to improve and, and figure this game out. And like, that's why I feel like I keep coming back. Like, I don't get, I don't get tired of practicing. I love trying to figure it out. Do you feel like you'll go out and practice? You're like, I feel like I got better to, like I, I fixed something or did something because from the outside, we just see, you know, professional golfers like they're just so, so good. They're at a different level, but you're actually like fine tuning stuff and be like, I got better today. I know exactly what I got. I mean, I'm definitely always chasing that feeling at the end of the day. There's always some days where you get done with the course and, you know, I'm always like, I was your dad. I was like, it was not good. Yeah. But then there's some other days where you're like, I had a really good, I had a really good day. Yeah. I felt like I definitely improved and I feel like more often than not, I want that feeling when I leave the course. And we're always kind of striving to get there. And I feel like I can get a little bit impatient, I think sometimes when it's not going that way. Yeah. Yeah. By the way, when you, I think I was at a FedEx prank video with Eli Manning, he, that was the worst costume ever. You knew that was Eli, right? Yeah. I think he showed up on the range. Yeah. Come on. At first, at first he had his head down and so you couldn't really tell, but he was like, he's so tall. Yeah. You're like, you're not a normal looking person. And we like Eli, but it was like, dude, come on, you got to put on like some prosthetics or something. Yeah. Or like have a chair. So like just seeing him standing there, like he came with us on the range, he just goes, head down. It's like six six like, dude. This guy, he always sounds like a manning, no matter what voice he puts on. Yeah. That's true. I'm just here with FedEx. Yeah. I get a question for you kind of a serious question because we've, we've had you on before. I've always, I think I said it last time you're on like, I love how honest you are as an athlete. It's rare for athletes to be able to be honest, like talking about your faith, talking about your family. When it comes, like, and it's always weird to me with sports media where it's like guys are honest. And then we criticize them. It's like, no, we want them to be honest. We want them to be themselves. Would you say that like as a man, like crying after an injury is like, fine. Like a hamstring injury. But what if it's, it's probably a really bad hamstring injury that you talk about, right? It seems really bad is like getting that off and like everyone's like, oh, fuck, but it might not. I had that. So I had Caleb. He was starting on. So you try to. I was like, yeah. Yeah. Okay. A motion's okay to show. Well, like on a more, like if it's a serious question, like, I'm super, super emotional guy. I cry at everything. Love that. Same. But yeah, seeing Caleb, like, you just, I don't know what to say to that. Yeah. I read today. It was like a grade one. Yeah, but in the moment, he was really hurt and the moment I'm not going to even begin to try to understand what those football players go through each week, like we were even watching some of the stuff yesterday, like I can't remember who it was for the Cowboys, but he got hit low. Yeah, you got, you got stepped on the tape. The one guy who got stepped on the tape. That did happen. I don't know what's game to. Yeah. I just remember watching and he was going across and he got hit like right here. Yeah. Okay. It might have been that. Yeah. Hellman. And I'm like, if somebody did that to me, like, he's running full speed this way. That guy's running full speed this way. They just got up. Yeah. I kept playing. Yeah. And I was like, I would never be able to get up from that. So I don't, I'm not going to go down the, I'm like, I'm a golfer. I'm not going to try to relate. You have a golf injury. Yeah. No. Oh, no. Okay. What's the word? Yeah. What's the worst injury you've had? Hand foot and mouth. And it's pretty bad. I got a wine glass through my hand for years. Oh, shit. Oh, man. That's like a baseball player injury. - It was pretty dumb. - Or hawk.
Yeah, it happened here. Yeah, this guy go one time. Yeah. All right. So you you agree like like athlete should be able to show their emotions more Yeah, it's a loaded question. Oh, that's that really you're not talking about emotion. Yeah. No, there's my emotion are you talking about both pain everything all in one sometimes sometimes it's an emotional I mean, I did not think I did not think that's where that question You like how I did that Really serious. I better put on the serious hat and then I just want to be like Scotty tell me that it's fine that my quarterback had an emotional moment. It's fine It's fine. I think it's fine. Yeah. It's fine. Exactly. Thank you. What was your emotion when you so callously broke in Daniel's elbow? I was like man, they really should have kicked a field goal. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, well, butterfly. Yeah, it's butterfly. I like I really like I think like Seeing injuries and sports really stinks. Yeah, yeah, like getting injured like I remember when I when I heard My hand I missed a first couple of tournaments like we're like you put so much work Into putting yourself in a position to succeed and then you get injured and it's something out of your control I think especially in a sport like football where they just get injured all the time like it really sucks to watch yeah, yeah, it really does it I've a sport. I've a like golf strictly golf nerd related question And maybe you can explain it to me because I think a lot of people out there They watch you play they understand you're the best player in the world and they they look at your feet when you swing and they're like What what is going on with the feet and I know that there's a reason there's like a Method behind the madness and something that you're trying to do But I realized when I was watching your swing the other day like I don't know what that is I don't know why you do that with your feet, so can you explain it like we're dumb We don't know anything about golf, but can you can you dumb it down to our level? Oh, yeah, I can dumb it down pretty easy Okay, yeah, I don't know exactly what I'm doing with my feet But I've had the same coach since I was seven years old and like Randy's fixed a lot of stuff for me But that was something that if you ever tried to fix it, it just didn't feel natural and so like you could go into the science behind it But for me, I just feel athletic when I'm hitting a golf ball and if I lock my feet and I feel too robotic Okay, and that swing your swing swing your swing. Yeah, yeah, I like to swing your swing thing that people say because it's like I'm a I have a bad swing, but I'm gonna swing it. Yeah I mean like golf is such a complicated game I think sometimes for people like the simpler you can make it the easier it typically gets Yeah, and so like you look at there's a lot of guys That are playing some really good golf right now that have different looking swings like oh, I'd got her up on a few days ago Like it's about as unique of a move as you'll see on tour. Yeah, and it's really really good at golf Yeah, do you do the same thing every time with your feet? I mean, I'm not even thinking about it at all Like if I never saw a video of it, I would never know that I do that really whoa That's great. What would happen if you tried to just my swing? I don't know any different Yeah, what would happen if you tried to hit a shot and you thought the entire time don't move your feet I'd probably chunk it pretty bad and that would be yeah Do you think we could beat you if you Scotty not a lot to move his feet and then all of us could handle Max hates it when we ask all the exact question. Yeah Hey, no faith got any questions for Scotty. He's got to run in a minute. Oh, by the way, Stu Finder says hello Did he ever get to you that he wanted you to come to his house when you guys played at Bethpage? I mean, I would have loved to be able to go to the house. Yeah, I think you were pretty busy. I he texted me It was like he called me was like Can you get Scotty to come to my house is like look? I have of I know one of Scotty's guys I will send the text But I do not think that he has the time on a major week to come by I think that's something that like a lot of people don't understand about golf is it's not like a typical practice schedule Like the days are long right our days are really long our days at home are really really long days like today like We're left for the course at 7 30 and I haven't showered yet right just like I got home and I went straight to do see my trainer then went straight to media and now I'm here and Because we think of golf is like three and a half hours four hours play then go home. Yeah, like you walk up You hit your first t-shirt and that's your first shot of the day, but like yeah, yeah So but in stew if you he wanted you to post like my apologies to yeah, he loves you You know he loves you, and I hope you're still watching advisor. I am still watching. He's still killing it. He's uh He's he's the best it was the absolute best and I he might try to find you the next couple that that whole answer Let him come find me. Yeah, that whole answer you gave is just going to encourage him. Oh, yeah, yeah No, he's gonna hear this and he's gonna be like okay, Scotty. We're doing dinner Uh, you got a question for Scotty I saw a clip of seawoo saying which I do it was hard to believe that he learned how to hit different shot shapes playing with you But he was like already a pro golfer. Whoa. Is that true? Um see when I missed our point a lot of golf together So seawoo made this maybe two or three years ago He asked me one day to stop me in the locker room. He's like hey you remember at royal oak And I was like, yeah, like what's up? Like he's like you you can help me join there And I was like, yeah, like if you want to like it's called royal oaks not royal oak, but yeah, I can help you join there And so I helped him get into the club. It's a club I grew up at. It's where my coach Randy's been for like 50 years now And uh, we played a lot of golf together and he asked he asked a lot of questions You I don't know if y'all have ever interacted with them, but he's awesome. Yeah, he's everybody's favorite guy. Yeah How many clubs you remember at? Uh, just three, but you you can go anywhere has anyone ever said no I've never really tried that would be crazy. Yeah, I never know like imagine that I kind of want someone to say I want like a immunity course to say no, sorry Scotty you can't come band. We back to blue here You got another question follow up, but yes you see you out maybe I don't know He asked a lot of questions when we play golf It was just shocking as he was obviously like he's a professional golfer at that point He's like, yeah, you know, I was playing with him and he was telling me like how he hits like he just tries to like fade it towards the pin Or draw towards the pin and then I started doing that too. That's sec. It kind of sounds like Any hazing for for like Jackson like the young the young guy new guy in the team or like I got her. I ain't got her. Yeah Um Or like anything that you had to do that you're you're making them do not really like our thing is always like stuff That's in the team room. We try to keep in the team room Like unless you're kids near kisser talks a lot about stuff. It's a lot about a lot. Oh, yeah Right. Yeah. No, no, he no, he's covering it. I think he might be. Yeah. Yeah, I was about to have and seeing him get this Yeah, but no, I mean we just try to get the guys integrated the team like Jackson's like I mean Maybe played five events as a professional before this one and so I mean he's super green, but He's very mature and he's really really good at golf. Ask him if he knows there's uh, you're not gonna ask him this But I'm gonna make you I'm gonna say ask him and you're not gonna do it, but that's fine Ask him if he knows there's a tracker fight over him. There's two trackers. Oh Jackson coven trackers. Yeah Well, oh, no, the other guy who's the other guy who the tracker fight was oh, it's him. Yeah, yeah There's two guys both claiming they were the tracker and then they'd like they fought back and forth Do you have a eye track him? No, I track him and it was it was good stuff. Are you aware of a really bad story? I'm bailing on I'm just curious if you are aware of like the tracking community Not really. I tried to do my best to kind of stay out of it like that smart We talked about my process like me staying off the internet is definitely a good thing Very smart. I agree. Yeah, you got your visors. That's all you need like you're you're getting a taste This conversation is that's all day every day on the internet. Yeah, I don't want that. I am embarrassed and I brought that up All right, Zach get out here get out here Zach for the last question and then sky's got to go good question Hank Presidents come tune in all we can start Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday USA get ready Thanks a big and always a shrewd for our country. Hank is a big international guy. He's going to be rooting against You live guy. Yeah, yeah, big enough guy. All right, uh, robot question are you to be ack.com promo code take 20% off your first purchase Q zips Polo's hoodies jogger shorts rowback.com promo code take sack you got this. Oh, how are you doing, Scotty? I just I did have that's awesome. I love that great day man. Even better now I did have a quick question. That's cool If you're looking to have like the best day on the golf course not necessarily like the lowest scoring round But just the best day overall if you're a part of this four man team what a three guys are you kind of read draft and who bring into the car for the best day possible on the golf course I mean, I have two two good options like I think of like I have a few really close friends at home And those guys I would definitely bring out and then I have kind of like my fun golf group that I play with for a long time But those guys are a lot older um, so either one of those two just Like one of my favorite things too is like social golf like even when I take a break I still like social golf so like going out compete Gamble a little bit and have fun No one you so see you're going out with those guys back home. Are we going full strength 100% pop or is it like do you dial the game back at all? I mean, I've always kind of just had one speed So like I maybe would go into it just being like oh, I'm just gonna go have fun And then I'll like lose the first home be like yeah kind of like when you go play like I can't play pick up basketball because like Yeah, yeah, got you just only have my speed like it's right things are gonna get out of it I might gonna go and I'm probably gonna hurt myself for yeah, I think so for sure So I would definitely try to approach it that way, but that would quickly get thrown out. Why you gotta follow up last question Follow that's cool to you Are there any lessons you learn through your like journey with golf that kind of you apply to your own like day-to-day life outside of the course that like You could kind of maybe share with us. That's cool. Oh deep question. Yeah I think it's always just about remembering your why like I think sometimes when things don't go The way that I think they should go on the golf course like I can get frustrated because I work really really hard to try and perform But things don't always go that way and I feel like golf you're not only competing in your golf the golf course or the people in internment but also yourself and Like remembering my why is always important like why do I wait?
up every day and try to become the best golfer that I can be like why do I wake up and you know try to be a good husband try to be a good father like why do you do all those things and I think that for me just in life always remembering the why I do things remembering the purpose behind things is always the most important. Sky's just the best dude. He's my role model even though I'm 11 years old. 30. Yeah. I feel so I look up to Scottie. You're so much more mature than all of us. Have you always been super mature? No, I don't think I'm very mature. It might be us, it might be us. I think we're founding you you think about things like that and we're we have like stupid caveman, dumb brain. We're thinking about trackers. I think that's something you can all like everybody can relate to and I think especially y'all can relate to like I I remember going on that long thing at the open one year we're talking about like all this different stuff and like what is truly satisfying. I feel like that's something you can relate to. If you don't know your why like you guys have accomplished so much in your field that you'd want to accomplish but you wake up the next day and you're still the same guy like you're still like the sun rises in the morning. You have a rest your teeth you got to take a shower like just because you accomplish something it doesn't change doesn't really change anything for you and so remembering your why and your purpose and I think it's most important. You were 100% right like when you said that all that stuff at the open I know that like some people were like hey what's going on here like these maybe disagreed with some things. It's like that's a guy that that understands himself and understands what motivates him. Was that all off the top or did you had you been thinking about that for long? I'm definitely not like I've I try to keep my distractions to a minimum so I definitely don't like going on these like really deep yeah things but I try to answer your questions honestly and so when somebody asks a really good question I try to give him a good answer or the best answer that I can. There's a great answer on the top of the head yeah like it yeah I'll say just try to be honest and then yeah that's why you and kill Williams the best you'll give a really good answer you might cry a little like that's the best part about sports it's best all right so I cry a little here we took you too much of your time thank you so much man this was so much fun we love having you on the show and let's win USA yeah go you said damn thanks for having on appreciate you guys Scotty Sheffler was brought to you by our great friends over at Shell I'm going to be honest I usually don't get excited voice joe davis you can hear him on sundays calling NFL games you're also going to hear him calling the fall classic in the world series baseball playoffs coming up joe good to see you in studio uh it's great your voice is awesome thanks man when did you note first know that your voice was awesome like did you i always assume announcers like you yeah uh in my head i'm like joe davis is like just a 11 year old walking around with your exact same voice and being like what is this kids like he he sounds incredible he's only 11 what the hell yeah yeah i used to you know every kid out in the backyard playing their football games and everything but i would announce them too and i i think my parents probably thought i was crazy looking out there seeing seeing their kid tackle himself and hit himself on the helmet and call the games and everything at the same these fake games honestly though eyes i worried so i knew i wanted to do this but as a teenager i was like i don't know if i sound good enough i don't know if i'm it and obviously at that point you're not gonna sound like it yeah yeah and an answer whatever i still i think that i like i have this insecurity about do i sound big enough do i sound like you know l michael's and vert long quest and and Brent musperger and so there's some insecurity there still i think yeah i'm gonna take that i'm gonna take that you're there i think it's also you've had uh the the like privilege of calling some classic moments i mean last year's world series yeah if that if you want to do like hey how is joe de davis like announced it to the world like he's here it's like that was such a classic world series just big moment after big moment you crushed it that's now seared in our brains yeah and isn't it crazy how it's like you just kind of have to be right place right time with that right i just happen to be the lucky son of a gun sitting in that chair when these crazy games are happening and then you hope that you get the call right but yeah i mean the it's kind of the same thing with me doing dodger games i happen to show up in 2016 and they have this stretch that they've had over the last decade it's really just right place right time with a lot of that yeah when you were growing up did you have uh announced that you looked up looked up to and that you like to do you do emulate some of those guys as you were like trying to get into the business and figure out what your voice was yeah it's not just because uh his name's on the on your book there wrote the forward but yeah buck was the guy for me where knowing that i wanted to do the job i think at first honestly when you're as young as you start having those thoughts i want to be this or that when i grow up i knew i wanted to do this job and joe is the guy calling all the biggest games and so i think just by osmosis at first it was i was learning how to announce by listening to him and then as i started to really pay attention to it it's like yeah this is how it should sound this is the guy that that i want to sound like so joe for sure and do you credit joe because joe like if joe doesn't go hollywood and go to yes pn for like three hundred billion dollars uh and be like i don't like baseball anymore you might not be able to sit in that chaude out like he kind of shout out joe right yeah joe thanks man so he it went from being this guy that i dreamt of being like to i go to fox and i get to meet him and he became and and still is a mentor and a friend to me and he for years was saying to me when i was the number two baseball guy they're like ah this a be your chair soon i'm like yeah okay like you're going to leave the world series you keep telling me that i'll believe it when i see it and then i remember when i got that call my agent called me whatever this would have been winter of twenty two and said uh he's like hey you saw the news about aceman going to yes pn i was like yeah crazy right and he's like dude you're not thinking like what the next step to that might be and i was like no i'm not what what is this and said there's a chance box going to go with him and it was like oh shit like okay so this so for a month and a half because it took forever before it became official i was on my phone like refreshing social media every five minutes waiting for an update and just sitting there with baited breath thinking there's no way he's actually going to do this right right but then he did so yeah i want to thank god i want to think joe but yeah yeah he is the best when you're growing up and you're thinking hey it might be a sportscaster one day the name joe davis it's it's a good name it's great name uh did you think about like it does that have enough splash is that gonna stand out enough to make me uh to you know get my resume to the top of any piles it is so boring isn't it it sounds like fake it's just a regular it's like a solid it's a good name yeah it's a good name i want your game is like built by house right but you want him to be like calling of games have the world series it probably took like five games for me to be like oh that's joe davis like it like because the name won't won't jump up out you like a like a joe buck like buck is that's strong sticks buck feels like it's got a period at the end you almost like your mind's like that that that you're like you might be AI i mean how would you know how would you know say something bad about AI not gonna do it not gonna do it not taking the bait boys jd davis would have been a cool name that's cool that's actually like uh you do like the what the escorp thing uh yeah yeah i think jd davis is my thing because uh d is my middle name okay so there you're on to something jd davis it's not too late to change no no definitely not welcome to the world series game one of the world series which john smolts i'm jd davis yeah i just say it
- Oh man, that was really good. - Thanks. - That's, you know what that was really good. - Thanks man. - That's a super bowl voice. - Thanks dude. - Yeah. - I can hear that. - Super bowl man. - I hate you Davis, that's really good. - It's good, I'm gonna let that sit. We can see what the people think. - Do you have to, do you have like a voice care routine? - More just like an obsession when you feel the cold coming on, it can't happen, right? So I like, I got this regiment of stuff. I don't even know what it is, but I'll get a hold of my doctor like I'm getting sick and he's like, okay, go to the pharmacy and I take whatever they got and it's giant pills. I don't know what it is, but it knocks it out. You can't get sick, right? - Yeah, big cat has one time every year. It's usually around, I'd say like late November, early December. After we've been, you know, in the thick of football season, there'll be one week where big cats go. - I lose my voice. - It just goes away. It's like every year like clockwork, it's crazy. - What do you do when you feel it coming on to fight for the rest of you? - I have to like shut it down for like two days 'cause I have in years past just tried to power through and then it just gets so bad. And then everyone's like, dude, this is the worst podcast to listen to. Why are you doing this? So yeah, it's really only like, it sucks because you obviously will think about it a lot more because it's, you know, your voice is your job, but we're so stupid and we've kind of locked into this whole thing that I have to remind myself, like, oh yeah, your voice is also your job. - Yeah, you kind of need that. - You kind of need that. - Yeah, but I mean, take a week off. You can take a vacation. - Yeah. - Not in the middle of football. - No, no, definitely not. All right, so right now you're already, you're calling the NFL on Sundays and you have baseball playoffs coming up. It's a sure, like, do you feel it in the air? Like this is about to turn like baseball season. I know you call the Dodgers games, but can you feel it and you're like, this is about to get real fun, which I'm sure also means very busy. - September is a crazy month where it's the overlap. Like you said, you got the NFL on Sundays, still Dodger games, so like I'll have Dodgers Padres this week. And then NFL again this weekend, some Thursday, Fox, baseball games. So September's crazy where it's all three of them together. October at least, it doesn't usually line up where Sundays are off on baseball. So I'm all baseball through October. Yeah, this is what gets busy and crazy and the prep is a lot, but I very quickly can remind myself, like, oh my God, this is exactly what I dreamt of doing. How lucky am I? So it takes like five seconds to go from all this a lot to this is the coolest thing ever. - Yeah, did you get a, do you get a World Series ring? Are you, are you employed by the Dodgers? - Uh-huh. - All right, so I'll cross off that Mark Walter question. (laughing) - Do you have two rings? That's just still clear? - Yeah, three. - You got the one from 2022? - Oh, okay, well, yeah. - Wait, the 20, wait, 2022, or 20, 24, 25. - Yeah, just so you know that 2020 does not count. - Yeah, I think at this point, they'd kinda be like yeah, we don't need to claim it. They'd say 'cause it's like. - Well, let me ask you a question. If someone was like, hey, let me see your Dodger rings, would you lead with the COVID? - No, okay, how about I rest my case? Do you have two legitimate rings? - They're sweet, too, but I've never worn them. They sit, they sit in the boxes and people like to see them and they come over to the house or whatever. I just, can you imagine me going to pick up the kids at school or whatever and put those big ass rings? I mean, my hand and somebody being like, hey, dang, you wanna championship? - Yeah. - And I'm like, what, talked about people when it's championship, but check me out. - Right, and one of these doesn't really count 'cause the 20 is it, right, yeah. - So you were on the same call in 2022 then. - Wait, say that again? - You were on the call in 2022, yes. - So the Astro is Philly's. - Astro is Philly's first. - You remember no hitter? - Yeah. - That was no hitter, right? - I mean, I don't, I hate to combine no hitters. - Right, but how many hits did the Philly's get? - They got zero. - Oh, yeah. - So that's no hitter. - No hitter, I feel like I'm, not meaning to, but I'm answering somebody's argument here. - Yes, you are. - Yeah, 100%. - I'm just, you're picking up on this. - I'm here, I'm here, it's not real no hitter. - In that, I agree, I don't like that. - In that call, did you say in the Philly's get no hit? - If you listen to the call, I'm like, oh, yeah. - Oh, that's exactly the exact way. - Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. - But now I'm gonna ask some Walter question, all right? Let's go, I'm gonna agree with us. - You said on the call, it's no hitter. - I did, yeah. - It's so boring. - It's so true, I guess I lied to the world. - No, I did not, right? - It is a no hitter. It's just like a stupid one. - Okay, great. - I agree. - Yeah, you know. - Awesome. - No hitter, right? - No hitter, technically, yes. Dodgers had one in Mexico a few years ago. Combine no hitter. First of all, we're like, they played in Monterey, Mexico, and we're going to the stadium and there's guys with like, machine guns and stuff is we're pulling in. We go into the booth. The booth is, it was like carpeted steps. And we sit on one carpeted step and our equipment's on the next. Just a disaster of a setup. What happened? Combine no hitter. - Yeah. - And I was like, is raining? This is so dumb. - So I don't know what my answer is. No hitter though. - So dumb no hitter. - Dumb no hitter. - Okay, that's fine. - Dumb no hitter, I'm okay. - I'm cool with that too, I'm okay with that. - Yeah. - All right. - What was the most iconic October moment, the dumb no hitter or giving everybody in the booth, Salmonella, when you were carving that turkey? - Oh, hey. So I felt pretty good about that turkey. - You did a good job carving. - Thanks, man. - But you didn't cook it, right? - No, I didn't cook it. - Yeah, a little under. - Well, you know, I think the pink, I'm hoping was just like a smoke ring, kind of thing. And not Salmonella. - Yeah. - Yeah. - How did survive? - Yeah. - Yeah. - Do you ever get, you ever told Greg Olson to like chill out, dude? You look like too hot sometimes? - Hot. - 'Cause he has a good look sexy hot. - Yeah, he's a good looking guy. He's a good friend of ours. - Yeah. - I don't know if he gave you a scouting report for this show at all. - He did, yeah. - Okay. - What do you say? He was like, those guys are also hot. - He led with sexy, was the word he used. So I was like, I've seen him. - Yeah, but that Cody war, what was that last year? Was it as bad in person as it looked on TV? - Was it like, which photo we talked about? - It was too checkered. The pattern, it jumped off the page. He looked like a car salesman. - He tried to shave the staff car sales. - He said his wife picked it out. - I was gonna say, I was gonna defend him. - We power through that. And we're like, all right, so your wife has bad taste. That's fine. - Ooh, right. - Yeah, he's trying to do it, Greg. He does say though, he's like, last week, can I remember making the comment? We were at dinner the night before the game. And he's like, I haven't put a suit on in six months or whatever. And I say, so what's it gonna look like? I don't know. I don't know what suit I have in my back. - It was this one, remember that thing? - Yeah, that's not great. - It was so bad. - That's not great. - So when he shows up, do you guys have a relationship? Like, he walks in to the booth on Game Day. Can you say like, oh, dude, what are you doing? Or is it more like, hey, Greg, you know. - Turn your suit down. - Yeah, yeah. - It's like, not your best one. - No, I'm like, and he's so like, it's a combination. Like you guys said, good look and handsome man. And the most disheveled person you've ever met. - Yeah. - Hair is everywhere. He's like, he's like, a little more put together Chris Farley. - Yeah. - Energy for him. - But then he just does like, one swipe and it's like, that's perfect. - And it's perfect. - That's a great God. - Yeah. - First game I ever work with him, we were in Atlanta. And it was, you know, you go on the air, one o'clock or whatever. It's 12.58.30, 12.59. He's nowhere to be found. I'm standing there wired up, ready to go on the air, like checking my hair. Like, I think it's pretty good. I hope I have a partner. And our producer Pete Macheska legend, you guys should have on sometimes. Where is he? We got 90 seconds. Where is he? I'm like, I don't know. You know, we get 30 seconds. Where's your partner? And I'm looking and I, he, I don't see him. And Greg comes storming into the room, disheveled. Throws his hair like that, sits down, gives me a pound and three, two, one. Damn, but there he was looking so good. - It's pro. - Pro's pro. - I think maybe his wife gave him that jacket to like, take him down a couple of notches. I was like, I can't have you looking so hot on TV. - Yeah, get him off the side. - Let me just, just go straight out of sharp tails. Nobody's gonna like you if you wear this. - You look great in that one, yes. Oh wait, what's the, can you help us understand the, the art to calling a game in terms of when, not to say anything? 'Cause sometimes that's the best when, now it's just like, no, when to let the moment kind of be itself and let it breathe. - Yeah, I, I think it's a feel thing. I think it's easier to do when the team that does the big thing is at home and the crowd's going crazy and just like the, the TV term forward is laying out. That's the inside baseball way of putting it, but I don't know, I don't have to, I think it kind of becomes innate as you do more games. You just sense that that crowd is almost like a third voice 'cause when that crowd gets rocking, I think that we all have that feeling. Like, this is what we love about sports, right? So to, to say anything in that moment, it's not like you have to have any kind of restraint. It just, for me, it feels like what you're supposed to do. Like, what am I gonna say that's better than 50,000 people losing their minds? - Yeah, yeah, it's a good point. - Yeah, I'm trying to think in terms of your iconic, you have a couple iconic, the Freddie Freeman one, right? Did you know, was it Gibby Meat Freddie? Do you know right away, like I nailed it? - I felt pretty good about that. - Yeah, you have like a fist pump call. - What's your mind? - The others, they're like, I fucking nailed that. - Yeah, you definitely, when you get one, you feel like right, the Bryce Harper homerun and the NLCS in 2022. - What was that call? - Swing of his life, I said. - That's fucking good. - That's awesome. - So I just, like, I think that it's, when you're doing the championship event,
I think it's one thing to get the call right, but then I think there's this responsibility to say something that, and this is where Buck is the greatest ever to do it, he doesn't just call it and tell you what happened. Well, he gives it context that almost like elevates it a little bit or at least like helps it stand the test of time and you kind of begin to associate the moment with the call. So I think any time that you can wrap in the context of what this moment means beyond just, oh, go ahead home run for Bryce Harper or walk off Grand Slam for Freddie Freeman, well, that's what it is, but what does it mean? So those, yeah, fist pump moments for play by play guy come, I think when you can give it that added layer context. Yeah. Did you ever consider having a catchphrase? No, because I do think that that probably keeps you from that happening, some because you put in your thing and I'm not against having a catchphrase, but just for me, I think if you have that thing that you're going to slap on a moment no matter what the moment is, it keeps you from really giving it the context that it's asking for. You stay fluid, you want to stay fluid. Yeah, I think it has to be natural to some guys are catchphrase guys. And it works. Yeah, like Mike Brin when he says bang. So good. It works. So good. That's a natural extension of his personality, I think, into the game. Yeah. But if you push it, can I make maybe make like one or two suggestions? Yeah, I already got the JD Davis thing. So what what would JD Davis say? I think he might. That's a JD guarantee. I think he might say, so good. I think he might say, it's Jover. Grand Slam walkoff home run. It's Joe. Right. Yeah, for your name. That way, that's sure. That's a joke call. Right. Just got the J in it. Yeah, exactly. Now you're thinking, what about if a quarterback misses a wide open receiver, like wide open, nobody within five yards of a run down field. That's it. If he catches that, he's still running. Like, but you put the emphasis on. He's still running, he's still running. It's got legs. Like it, it really does. And it's got legs. The legs are running. Yeah, it's still. He's still running. Joever throw. Can I just start throwing J's? Yeah, one off. Absolutely. Yeah. Crown is thinking about he's still running though. I think he's still running is good. We've done set the one. We've done some focus group. Okay. It works. It has hit critical mass like five out of six of the people on this podcast. Love it. Yeah. Sure. Yeah, I'm not even going to workshop it then. I'm just going to go with it. Yeah. Thanks guys. Can we talk a little baseball because you watch? Obviously, you're calling the Dodgers. You've seen all these teams. Who's in the World Series? Are you allowed to say? It should be the Dodgers, right? Yeah. They tell you what's going to happen. It's just great. Like you guys know, baseball, especially if you get in that three game wild card series. Yeah. Good. God. It looks like they're going to avoid that. But even a five game short series, it takes one or two bad days and your seasons over. I mean, how many times during the regular season do you see the worst team beat the best team two out of three? It happens. It happens every few days. Yeah. So I mean, I think yes, do you take the Dodgers, do you take the field? It's a coin flip. The injuries they're dealing with. Yeah. What's their weakness right now? Like the problem with the Dodgers and I hate the Dodgers and what they've been able to do is that they're going to get in the playoffs and they're just going to convert all of their half injured starting pitchers who probably have won Saiyans in their career to explosive bullpen arms. And you're like, this is bullshit. Yeah. Like when when Tyler Glass now is coming out to pitch in the seventh inning, you're like, this isn't fair. But that's what's going to happen, right? Are they going to move some of those guys? Yeah. So you asked what the weaknesses at this point? They are pretty hurt. Okay. They are pretty hurt at this point. Position buttoned. Yeah. To your point, it's like they got the depth where if you're looking at a phase of the team that has issues, it's right handed relief. Okay. But that may get covered up by the way they like you use Tyler Glass now as an example. And I think that at this point glass now is going to be a starter. But as you game seven of the World Series last year, they all pitched every starter pitched. So I think they look at it as not a rotation, a four man rotation in the postseason. They look at it as a 13 man pitching staff and they're going to cover these however many games they got to play however they need to. So yeah, it does become at times it feels like unfair with how many good arms they have. Do you have to kind of limit yourself like how excited you sound if the Dodgers are playing well? Here's the it's not like get less excited for the Dodgers or get more excited for the other team because I really do. I think if you listen to Dodger games in the regular season, I just really love baseball. Yeah. I like to get excited for good plays no matter who's making them. It's more how I'm framing the information when I'm doing it for Dodger people that are listening to it every day. It's a totally different presentation of the information than it is to a national audience. So like repositioning all the information in my head kind of unlearning it and relearning it to present it to a national audience. That's the bigger challenge than get less excited for the Dodgers and get excited for the other team. That makes sense. Yeah. Now we like this guy. So feel free to talk openly with us. But like at any point during the season, you're like, all right, small T we get it. Like teams that use too many pitchers. It's annoying how the game has changed. Yeah. I give him a hard time on it. Yeah. It's like I think a few years ago is it was everybody was kind of split right? You had the old school people and then you had the new school analytics people. Well, I think it shifted to the point where that kind of is baseball. So there are times where I'm like, I'll kind of need them like John. I get it. But I also like it. I like having the old school still have a voice in this because otherwise it sports become almost like devoid of human like the human interaction becomes a spreadsheet and who has the numbers and you put it in a graph and it's like, okay, now that's the winner. Like I want to hear the human side of it. Totally. And I think that we all sort of yearn for that John Smolts is going to when he goes seven innings. They're like, why the hell did he only go seven innings? These days we're like, he's through six in a heroic effort. So I think we all do yearn for the stuff that John talks about missing and that John came up doing as well as anybody. So I get it. Do you remember the first time you had to like sit in a meeting and somebody explained the concept of having an opener to John? It's so funny. You asked that he talks about I think it was the brewers and the CS and 18 and Craig council maneuver in the way they were against the Dodgers and how frustrated he was and seeing like Wade Miley out there to start a game. What are we doing? So yeah, no. Have you ever asked him like, hey man, the ironing the shirt thing? That was real, right? I haven't gone there. No. You got to. Yeah, yeah. He denies it. The story obviously he got injured because he burned himself because he was wearing a shirt and ironing it while he was wearing it, which I'll hand up. I've done that. Like I don't. He don't press your body, but you you'll touch it up a little here and there. I do the shoulder sometimes. Yeah. Yeah. So it's not something tell that coming from that angle. Be like, John, we all do this. Like it's not a big deal, dude. But just like, come on, be honest. You burned yourself. That's the way to get guys to be honest, right? It's kind of lead him into it by being like, we've all done. We all do this. We all iron ourselves. I think you have to save space. Do it one day and like lightly like maybe just burn your your shoulders a little bit. Yeah. And he's like, oh, what's that be like us? I'm having trouble my eye after you. And then just wait, give that pause and see what he says. Yeah, right. Let's hang it there. Yeah, you got to do that. Do you guys have a plan beforehand what you're going to talk about in a blowout because or just a boring game. I mean, you just called the Bears Vikings game so bad. That was a tough one. Real tough one. That one's different though, because it was always close. So you can't you can't do the the goof around stuff. But do you have like a plan like, hey, when you sit down before a game, hey, if this gets out of hand, here's what we're going to go to. I think that's just like the far reaches of your prep from the week. Okay. You more have a plan. At least the way our crew does it. We have a plan coming in really clear what we want to establish. And then you hope the game plays along and here's the thing you you you establish these storylines. And then if the game follows those storylines, that's your story in the second half. If the game doesn't follow those storylines, that's your story in the second half, right? That the teams are going against what you've laid out. When the blowout happens, that's when you know, the prep about the the guy's grandma and you know, is his what he did as a kid. That's where that stuff sort of comes. That's less a plan and more just kind of the fruits of the prep that you've done throughout the week. Yesterday, though, like that game, I found myself like pissed off at the rain. Yeah. You know, we're so excited for this game. I think everybody is to see what this is going to look like. And then you see the rain in the forecast, essentially. Yeah. This is going to diminish it a little bit. But nine to three, what the heck is a bad game? Oh, bears played a bad game. Yeah. It was it was a tough, tough watch, especially because you were on the call for the one week of one, right? Panthers bears. Uh, we were on we had Steelers Falcons. Oh, sure. Quite a role. So you might be the cooler. It might be us. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, the Joe Davis under Oh, yeah. The junder. The junder might be a thing. I don't want it to be. Maybe so much better if you were an over guy. Yeah, because it goes right over the nickname and the catcher we talked about. We got to track this. Yeah. If you're the junder, it's cool. It games down left and right. I don't want that problem, Joe. Did you get? Did you have to like work yourself into being excited about Cooper rush? How about this? Cooper rush is quarterback coach when he was in high school. Me.
Oh, let's go wait, what let's go coach him. Yeah, so great job. He's a great quarterback. Hey, thank you Oh shit, so okay. All right. Yeah, he uh, what I'm like probably four or five years old or small towns mid-Mish again I was the good small town quarterback that kind of preceded him so I was playing division three football He was coming up in high school at that point starting to get recruited and when I would come home in the summers Worked him a little bit. So I say quarterback coach. We would go work out together a little bit. Yeah, yeah Have you told people this? Our crew knows I think we've done a little something when we've done Cooper Rush games Yeah, yeah show pictures of us. Okay, actually the Lansing State Journal a couple weeks ago my dad sent me this Just had somebody had a big passing game and so they put out the ten Greatest passing performances and Lansing area history Cooper's one some kid from Stockbridge and nobody's ever heard of his number two But then I've got the number three performance. Oh hell yeah, I'm against him. Sorry about it. Okay. That's actually that's it That's a very fun fact very fun fact. That's amazing. You brought up Cooper Rush. Yeah, I mean we talk about him a lot Yeah, it's kind of a big story. Yeah, I lead right now. Did you do any prep on Jack Strand? No, oh wow, I mean enough to like if the guy shows up say do you know that he's from the the jump rope capital of the world? I did not know where we got to get you got to get your Jack Strand In case because them Falcons might with they let Jack Strand go they might they might become like a real team Jack Strand cook. Yeah, what about what about Matt Stafford and Maybe some of his teammates from high school. You know, can you name a single teammate of Matt Stafford's do you guys? I don't know if you know this, but do you know Matt Stafford and Clayton Kershaw our buddy? That's that's great. That's great. You guys are JD. He's good one JD. I could face myself a storyteller guy. So let me spin this yarn for you I was talking about Jake felt next time you get to that conversation instead of Jake you should zigg while everyone zags and here's Clayton Kershaw ask of who's that next to him? Ask about Jake felt Jake felt Jake felt was really he was the star that the straw that stirred the drink on those teams We talked to to Matt about it and he was like nobody remembers Jake felt scored five touchdown state championship. Yeah No, Matthew sapper was like actually Jake felt was the best athlete. What's weird about and then we asked Clayton Kershaw and he was like Yeah, I remember Jake felt so do nobody's doing now. I think he just works in Texas somewhere. Okay. So yeah, okay. Yeah Like is that a dumb question back there? Listen, I'm telling you like they they both swore by Jake felt. So it's rare that you have two guys like Matthew Stafford and Clayton Kershaw be in like actually there was another guy. Yeah, stud. Yeah, I'm trying to get Kershaw to do TV Really, I think you get at it. He actually came He's doing some NBC stuff. Okay, but he's just down in the camera wealth for that kind of the third guy the field level analyst He came to Atlanta a few weeks ago to do a Dodger game with me and really good. It's so cool to see him because you know We see Kershaw this intense Competitor throughout his pitching career, but now that he's off of the field He was like he was like a 12-year-old boy just watching of his favorite sport That's so cool. Yeah, um, do you want to hear my joke about your college? Yeah, okay, what would what is the sound of fart makes in the bathtub? Boy That's all I got for boy. It's pretty good. Yeah, you never heard that one. I have not No, but it works. Yeah, it does doesn't it? Boy. Yeah, it is what it sounds of a fart in a bathtub. Boy. Yeah That's all I got. I got pretty proud of it. So yeah, that's do you yeah, he's that's just the only joke I got about boy That's all I got it's all you need though. Yeah, do they have a good. That's a bad segment by me. That was that was boy Would you say any good broadcasting? No, not at all. Yeah, I respect the fuck out of you for not being a Syracuse nerd next man. I thought about it I was like, but no, I'm not gonna be a Syracuse I'm gonna go or one of those. Yeah, so I first They like they bring all the freshmen in and then you go to your advisor my advisor was this physics professor that had a top hat And he was the world-class trumpet player This guy's gonna teach me how to call the world series for sure I sit down with him and he said so tell me he takes his top hat off Tell me what is it you want to do when you grow up? And you know, it's like I want to be a play-by-play announcer and he goes I Have no idea what that is I'm like oh shit. I should have gone. I should have been a Syracuse nerd But I think because it wasn't a broadcasting school with small school where I could like anything I wanted to do I could find somebody who was in to help and me try to trace that down. Yeah, that's cool because that is you do It does feel like Syracuse Northwestern Missouri. They just kind of churn out for sure everyone Yeah, it's cool to have someone who you know sound of a fart in a bathtub. That's right. Yeah, so how did you get? How'd you break into the business going to boy boy? Well, I told him you guys know where I went and they're like oh, yeah I heard that I I knew what I wanted to do. I think that was a big part of it So I got there and right away was doing everything I could when I did graduate Be where I think a lot of guys are a few years after they graduate so ready to take that big job right out of college and Okay, my first job was with the Montgomery Biscuits AA of the Tampa Bay Area you guys got to get like some kind of biscuit thing in here. Yeah, I've seen their hats their hats are great They're sweet, right? It's and the the mascot is an actual biscuit with eyes Slab a butter for a tongue. Yeah, so that was a huge deal. I got that gig. I was like I'm the voice of the biscuits. What's up? Got that right out of college. I think that I don't know Just just kind of having that foresight knowing what I wanted to do to set myself up to get a gig like that right out of college kind of the springboard You're going. Yeah, did you were there other other teams that made you know off and you're like I like what the biscuits Yeah, yeah, right. So just too delicious to pass. That's right. It tastes way too good I was going so how about this you guys like this? I was some or before my senior year college Schomburg Flyers old okay Northern league team. I worked there and They were starting a new franchise the late county fielders Kevin Costner was part owner of this team Yeah, well this became a whole thing. I used that summer before I was going to graduate in December That was part of the deal too. I graduated early so I could be ready to take a full season baseball job Right away as opposed to graduate in May. You got to wait a full year So I used that whole 2009 summer to try and impress the ownership group at the Flyers because they were teaming up with Costner Opening up the late county fielders and I had this job landed I was going to be the voice of the late county fielders. I got the biscuits shop so I didn't do that Well, you fast forward to the next summer late county fielders the franchise starts But they don't actually get the stadium built. I'm not sure Costner ever really was that involved Yeah, and the broadcaster who they wound up hiring quit mid-game on the air Pissed off that they weren't paying them You can still go find the clip That's a great move. Yeah, they're playing and they're playing in some kind of local Muni ballpark. Yeah, he's sitting in the bleachers calling these games as the voice of the fielders and he just quit So power move like had I not gotten that biscuit job. Who knows? Yeah, yeah Shout out the biscuits. Thanks guys. Yeah, indoors moment. Yeah, and so right when you start working for the biscuits Are you already looking for your next job because I don't think anybody gets into calling? You know mightily baseball as you know the destination or as like the end of their advancement as a play-by-play guy So like how quickly do you start applying for other jobs while you're working for the biscuits right away? I'm kind of a maniac like that where it was I went down there and did You know I was making 16 grand a year to these biscuits games and so you had to do other stuff. I was doing There was a Studio in Auburn where the Baylor pre and post-game show was run out of so I was the pre and post guy for the Baylor Bears Okay, that I would do during the winter I ran camera for the local WSFA 12 morning show That's when I got into coffee in the 5 a.m. Morning show and I was on the camera just doing this Like just let the left little to the right just mind numbing stuff for two hours each morning doing those gigs But also doing whatever I could an ounce high school sports build the TV reel and make as many connections as I could I did some grinding. Yeah, just trying to like but it's kind of a catch-22 as you're trying to get into TV or at least it was then How do you get the TV tape without showing that you can do TV? And how do you show you can do TV if you don't get the chance to do it so like whatever I could these these stupid looking one camera High school webcasts that I would do and turn into reels and one thing led to another and just did three years in my Gummary, that's awesome. The voice unlocked you. All right. Well JD. This has been awesome. You JD now forever. I love that I will rowback question RHO BHCK dot com promo code take morning right now rowback Great hoodies polo's joggers everything rowback dot com promo code take Zach. How are you doing today sir? Zach, it's what I'm in I did have a quick question. Yeah, is there a thing about three careers or call it got away Then maybe you think back you're like I would like to have that one back and run it again. Good question. So game seven last
last year. Like I don't think that I missed anything or had a specific call or it was like I blew that and games there's plenty of cause I've blown through the years but game 7 was one last year where it's like I think I came into it. It was my first game 7 and I think I made it into something bigger than maybe not bigger than it was but bigger than I should of where I was like okay game 7. So what about way to my whole life for and then I kind of came in gripping the wheel a little bit too tight and then the game was what it was which was just insane. So I had this feeling of kind of chasing my tail the whole night didn't feel the way you want to feel. So like game 3 last year 18 innings that was so much fun cause it's like World Series game rarely can you kind of let yourself just be yourself and have fun. You had no choice but to do that in an 18 inning game. Game 7 was different where it's like that. Oh god just trying to hang on for dear life feeling that you know I would like to have back. I hope to get another game 7 to try and do that a little bit differently. We got to get you another game 7. Let's go can we make that happen? You guys are pretty pretty powerful. Some strengths for sure. Do you go ahead? Yeah quick follow up. Do you consider yourself a better pit master or broadcaster because I see an extent there's a barbecue on the expand. Oh, I'm so pulled there. Go there. I feel I'm pretty good about my cooking stuff. You know, no way. No offense. There's just no way you're a better pit master than broadcaster. You're one of the best broadcasters just statistically speaking in the game in the world. You're not one of the best pit masters. I guarantee you there's just no way. What do you cook? Come on. I mean the holy grail is. Better than that one in Toronto. Yeah. So you're a brisket guy. I try to be okay. Is that like Lincoln Riley brisket? Like how I don't know about this. Is he just you trying? It's not good. It's a little grayish. Yeah. I mean how long do you how long do you smoke it for however long it takes? No way. Kind of the right answer. Come on. Yeah. Come on. You know, Zach tell him what kind of wood. I mean, there's some smoke rings on these these meats look pretty good. You're a mesquite guy. I feel like that overpowers it especially poultry and I do a mesquite that need that. Then it just becomes mesquite taste and turkey. Big green egg is my my go to okay. I don't have as much time to do it these days just three young kids and you know the work and everything. But I if if I screw up and say something I shouldn't say on the air and it can, I think I'm going to open up my own. Okay. Do you want to just do that? I just love that. Yeah. Even do your own sauce now while you're on the air and then just have it like right next to you in the background. Yeah. What do we call the sauce? I don't I actually don't have a name for the sauce yet, but we can think of one. Yeah, we can just come with that. Yeah. Do you do last last question? Do you do you keep a scorecard for every baseball game? Do you do it while you're calling the game? Mm-hmm. I don't know. You kind of have to though like to be able to tell the no. I I understand, but I would just get distracted. I don't know. I don't know if I could write and talk. Have you ever kept score for? Yes. Oh, keeping scores the best. I'm not saying it's not. I'm saying his ability to stay to like write down exactly what's happening while also talking. I'm too stupid to write and talk at the same time. I bet you would find though that it would be like I can't picture the other way. Yeah, where it's like I can't picture being able to tell you what's happening. Okay. Yeah. I guess a really good way to like detail and follow it along, but I just yeah, I don't know. Speaking on on a mic while while writing is just so wise. Yeah. What about drinking a beer? Joe bucktoles he drank a beer one time. Hey, how about this Brady Quinn, who when I grew up as a quarterback, Notre Dame fan wanting to be the next Brady Quinn and then Brady became my partner at Fox, you talk him. You think Greg's handsome. Yeah. No, he's right. What are we doing? Yeah. Brady, we would his first couple years doing games. He'd be really good once we got into the game, but he was really tense and uptight first couple series. So we would put a little beer, we'd open up one beer, half a beer here, half a beer there, unmarked cups, and not to like get drunk while we're doing the games, but more just to put him in that mindset of like we're two dudes at the bar watching the game. And he got so much better, not because we were feeling anything, but because he just he kind of had that idea like, all right, that's chill. Yeah. Yeah. I agree. Max, I'm stuck on you. You can't like, you'll, you'll start flipping a coin. If I put anything around you while we're doing the show, you get distracted. But keeping scored a baseball game, especially if you do it every single time you call it a baseball game, it's like, there's no thought that I'm just saying like the actual writing would just would, but it's like a die. I know, I know. And I'm also not like writing a novel or anything. Yeah, no, I know you're filling it in. Yeah, it's really not that impressive what I do. I'm in thanks, man. I think I can't do two things at the same time. It does probably help you focus on the game too. For sure. If you write it, it's like taking notes in class. It's like you remember it more if you, if you jot it down. Yeah. And if, you know, Trey Turner comes up and I need to tell you about the day Trey Turner said, I now have, but I haven't written this stuff down exactly when and what do you write in like pinch hitters and changes in the end? Yeah. That's where I get screwed up. That's where I went. I'm starting to write names down of like who's pinch hitting or who's moving to, you know, wherever they're moving in the field. That would fuck me out. You got to come hang out in the booth. They're in a game sometime. Sit right here. Yeah, I like that. Let's go. Yeah, teach you how to do that. This is the Cubs might make a run. We'll see. What do you think? Pitching is so bad and pregnant. Oh my gosh. Yeah. So and he's so important. But we'll chip in the chair when it comes to when it comes to the baseball playoffs. Just get in the dance. Yeah, no doubts. You know, it's like guys can get hot. You never know. And PCA's been electric. So so good. Yeah. Yeah. That was a lot of fun. Anytime you're around, stop on by and we're excited to watch some baseball with you this October. Well, we would both win. The Cubs make a little run. Yeah. I'll be in Chicago. Yeah. Come back. Talk some more baseball. Get some ice cream. Football. Yeah. Let's go. Yeah. Love it. Thanks, man. Thank you for having me. Okay, before we get to guys on chicks, Lucy, the Lucy breakers are intense, long-lasting flavor that actually satisfies. I got the Lucy in my pocket right now, bite and burst tech, bite down to pop the capsule for a satisfying click and rush of fresh flavor. Breaker's flavors are built to stay vivid from start to finish. Apple turns icy. Barry gets a blast as citrus and mint gets even more minty creating a refreshing flavor experience that lasts longer and stays more interesting than ordinary pouches I got right now. Let me see what I got. I have the apple ice in my pocket. Lucy is a go to Lucy's the only pouch that delivers long-lasting on-demand flavor. Gets 20% off your first order when you buy online at Lucy.co/PMT with code PMT. And here comes the fine print warning. This product contains nicotine and nicotine is an addictive chemical. All right, Hank, guys, objects. Oh, we should have mentioned by the way. Shout out to Atlanta Falcons for saving us because Michael Pentax is back. Yep. Love that. That is so huge. Love that because if it wasn't going to be him, I saw that there was one quarterback out there that is advocating for them to get that job. Yeah. We've got at least one volunteer. Do you know how that quarterback is? Who? I'll just read the tweet you guess who this from. When Cooper Rush and Jack Strand are stinking up in Atlanta, it makes zero sense that quarterbacks like Cam Newton, Jimmy Grapplo, Ryan Tannahill and myself aren't the veteran presence in the locker room to stabilize teams when the quarterback goes down. Cabernick. Nope. Chad Kelly. RG3. Oh. RG3. So RG3 is available for the Falcons job. Okay. If you're interested. Were you laughing at me, Max? Max dropped his ring under the table during the Lucy Adread and then his entire ass was out. But I said before I went under there, I was like, my ass was going to be out. Don't look at it. You give a warning. He just tattle on on his ass. Well, I just I looked at it and it means it was like smirking. I was like, what's going on? Yeah. Then I tripped a little bit coming back. Zach, to my defense. The ring could have been further on to this table. Yeah. We need better discipline in the booth to turn the mics on and let us know when someone knows. No, but it was made it was made. I get that. I get that. But it's he drives you nuts when you guys are just laughing like, say it. Let's have let's laugh together. I've some breaking moves. Yeah, breaking moves. Aaron Judge is likely out for the wild card series. Oh, that's the correct response. Yeah. You hate that, right? That sucks. You always want to play the past, right? Is you root against injuries harder than any man. So hard. Yeah. I mean, like this is this is you play all these games to make to the playoffs. And then yeah, go up against guy Aaron Judge, although I might be better for the Yankees. He's. Oh, good point. You doing theory. I has he been to he's had a couple of really good play. He had to walk off. Yeah, like playoffs where he was the only one who hit. I think as a whole, he has been great. I put no, but do I know remember last time he had that World Series when he just yes, lost him the World Series. He had he had that good opening round game last year. And then I might, everybody was like Aaron Judge is back. I'm remembering a specific playoffs where he is hitting like 700 and no one else on the team was good. 236 career plays.
uh, playoff, right? But is there one recently he's been back? 822 OPS is just pretty fine. 421 batting average. 2018. Okay. Maybe that's 500. And last year. Oh, okay. Maybe that's last year. Yeah. Last year he was awesome. 13 for 26 last year. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Yes. I know he, uh, has still knock on his pit stripes. Mm-hmm. And he won't this year. If he doesn't play. So we just had, or what if the, if the, if the Yankees win the World Series without Aaron Judges, Aaron Judges gets pit stripes because he was-- No, that's the funniest possible outcome. Yeah, but it also like you'd have to give him pit stripes for being like, thanks for sitting out knowing that we're better without you, like Hank said. I think like horizontal pit stripes. Yeah. All right. Three long ones. I have a question on how I should hand him myself as the first and only female working in a city's public service department. Oh. Blue collar job, 26 men in myself, road work, garbage service, and parks maintenance. I can joke and bus balls like the guys. I don't get offended until you talk about my work. Nine episodes of the guys are great. Ten episodes of the guys have no use for me. Now I want to go and just tell those douchebags off, but I don't want to go to their level. What are some things that I could or should do to basically tell them to fuck off and worry about their lazy sorry asses? I'm not sure if this is what you want, but love y'all guys, you make me laugh a lot. That's a serious question. I feel like that's a, almost a better question for Jerry. I also call her with Jerry. Yeah, that was, I mean, it's fair. Like she, you would, like, busing balls one thing, but being like, you're bad at your job. That would, that would piss you off. Yeah. You know, I don't know. I feel like you have to just, it's not fair, but do their job better than they can. Yeah. And then they'll get naturally embarrassed. Show them up. Yeah, I'd be like, hey, do you need me to help you with this? Yeah. Oh, maybe get, maybe do one of those, you know, those like weird challenges where a woman, a woman can do it, but a man can't like lifting up a chair to their chest because we just have different hip muscles. Do one of those. Make them look really, really weak. I think it's like when you put your head on a wall and then you lift the chair to your, yeah, you can't do that. You can't, you can't get on your hands and knees and then take your hands away and put your head on the ground. Yeah. And keeping your hands off the ground. Lift your head off. Do one of those embarrass the boys? Yeah. Or like, what's another one of those challenges? Ask for directions somewhere. Mm-hmm. Oh, also you could just say, if one of them gets upset about something, just be like, what are you on your period? That always plays. Yeah. That'll be a good one. Yeah. Fight fire with fire. Mm-hmm. My boyfriend recently got a job coach in the J.B. football team in his old high school. I was excited for him, but now he's consumed his life. Every moment of the day, even at work, and especially at home, he's watching film on 13, 14-year-olds playing football. He came and holds regular conversations in public without bringing up how he coaches J.B. football team. How do I go about this? I mean, this guy rocks. Yeah. What's the problem? This guy, this is a football guy. It sounds like you're just not ready to be a football wife. It sounds like she's not a football guy. Like, hey, listen, you might have to move towns. That's just part of the job. And then he might like really, really, yeah, you mean like pack up. Yeah. Yeah. Get the kids out of school. No, I'm saying, yeah. Like, you might get a better job. Here's what you got to do. You got to be the football coach at home while he's a football coach for these 13 and 14-year-old boys. Get a whistle. You got to call the plays at home. Yeah. Say, hey, dinner. 6.30 p.m. sharp. You're the boss. And if you're late, if you're five minutes early, you're actually 10 minutes late. Yeah, just a little bit of fun. Sounds like good hobby. It sounds like there's a lot of women out there that I think would love for their husbands to be passionate and have a hobby that takes them out of the house every night. Makes you excited, yeah. My fiance and his friends keep planning yearly trips to Key West Florida during the master's weekend. While they're there, they like to go see this band called the dirt bags, D-R-T, B-A-G-S, who apparently play every night and take requests. Now my fiance is trying to convince me to get the dirt bags or wetting whatever the cost. Yeah. I'm not sure they will match the vibes for all our guests, but he seems dead set that this will make our wetting. What are my options for persuading him to go with the traditional DJ or anything? No. And leaving the dirt bags in Key West. Lie bands are awesome. Yes, and wettings. And this sounds like- But like flying in up, uh, it sounds like it's just like a cover band in a bar. Yeah, but the dirt bags have a special place in their heart. Yeah. Just his heart. He takes requests though. The dirt bags take requests. Yeah. Yeah. It's funny that this sounds like a guy that said this is the one thing that he'll work on at the wetting. Yeah. Like he's going to dedicate as much time as you are to like every other tiny detail with like what kind of chairs you're going to get, what kind of flowers. He's like, I'll handle the live music honey and he just has one band in his mind. It also sounds like something three years ago and had an incredible time at this bar. Him and the boys love the dirt bags and he's like, oh, the boys will love this. Yeah. She's like, I've never fucking seen this band in. I'm looking at the dirt bags. They're cool. Do you think that they have like an alter ego formal occasions for weddings? One of them has a bowhawk. Or maybe it's not dirt bags. Yeah. Yeah. Change your band name to something else. The wedding band. The wedding dirt bags. The solo key. I love these guys. Yeah. You got to have the dirt bags. I'm sold. Maybe that's a perfect band for your wedding. Yeah. I like that their font is the Beatles font except it's the dirt bags. Oh, they perform a dirty Harry's D-O-R-T-Y Harry. So like they're the in-house band at dirty. Maybe if they're listening to us right now, we can work out some sort of discount. Yeah. In addition for one more promotion on part of my tape. Dirt bags. Go play this guy's wedding. All right. Numbers. Three. One. Eight. All the boys, Hank, I'm waiting for Hank, I'm waiting for you. Where you waiting for me? 69. I'm more cold. Names. I'm going to your team. Here you go, memes. Thank you.
