Tell us, what have you done with him? And what do you do? Is it more just keeping him cotton wool and hoping he doesn't do anything stupid? And I guess part two to the question, is he a stupid horse? You know how there's some of those horses that just find trouble? Or is he pretty clever?
Speaker 2Nah, he's not accident prone. As far as racehorses go, there's not too many as intelligent as him. Yeah. He's lovely. He can do everything with.
Speaker 1When did you get the call? Who rang you? And when did you get the call to lock him in?
Speaker 2I had quite a few calls, but Nathan, one of the guys in the horse, he sort of set up a syndicate with some of the owners and some mates and whatnot to buy tickets before the draw. So we actually won our own ticket.
Speaker 1Perfect. So that makes it pretty easy then.
Speaker 2Yeah, look, I think he would have got in because I had quite a few of them call me up. It just sort of, yeah, made it a, took a bit of the pressure off anyway.
Speaker 1Yeah. So with obviously leading into the Cosi, it was all part of the plan to get him right, you know, and this, this obviously this weekend, et cetera, this is part of it?
Speaker 2Yeah, for sure. Like he's only had the four starts and it's going to be a big day down there in a couple of weeks. He's got to handle that sort of atmosphere and just giving him another race start, just, just having that little bit more season for it means he's stirred up into it. He's a big, strong horse too. He takes a bit of work and, you know, just gives us an extra run and then two and a half weeks into the, to the main one. It all sort of fits in really nicely.
Speaker 1Yeah. And I'm presuming that Michaela is locked in as well for the Cosi?
Speaker 2Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. She's done a lot of the work on the horse and yeah, we're, we're solid there. That's no worries at all.
Speaker 1Have you got a plan for Cosi Day? Like I'm sure there's a big ownership group. Are they all coming? Like, how's it going to work?
Speaker 2Yeah, they'll all be there. They've got to, they've been at most of his, his starts. So everyone will be there and yeah, hopefully the horse is there. No setbacks. Everything's good. You nervous? No, not really. No, I just feel like I have the right horse and you can only sort of get them fit and healthy. And I feel like I've done my job, you know, to the best of my ability. So the rest, you have to sort of lump on the horse, you know, as you go. Good enough or isn't he? But, um, I think worst case scenario is, um, he's going to win a nice race, whether it's, um, this one or not, um, remains to be seen, but I'm pretty sure, you know, if you look back in 12 months or so, he's, he's going to end up a pretty nice horse.
Speaker 1Yeah. And I mean, I wouldn't be nervous about weather either because he's one on, uh, you know, the three on the good, and then he's got through the soft as well. He has never seen a heavy, but he, does he give the indication that to say, let's say if we did get a heavy track, that would be of concern?
Speaker 2He hasn't given us an indication that it, it, it would be a worry, um, in saying that it's hard until they race on it for him to give us any sort of indication, whether he'd love it or not. But yeah, I don't, I don't think he's sort of too complicated from anything we've seen so far, as far as those sort of things go. And thankfully he's a lovely sound horse. And as I say, he's easy to train. He's got a good brain and he lets you train him. We're not sort of having to, to, um, you know, do anything too spectacular with him. He, he's a good horse. He likes working and, and he likes eating. So it's all pretty simple.
Speaker 1So we go to Rose Hill. That's Lord Remlap, race seven, number one, punters, Michaela Weir, 60 kilos. So he's going to know, uh, he's in a race on the weekend. What about spends a lot in Oakfield, Utah? So he'll have some company on the weekend?
Speaker 2Uh, yeah, today he's, um, he's got a couple of stable mates on there with him and, um, they're, they're in good form and I think they're in the right sort of races for where they're at. Spends a lot of definitely be competitive, um, whether he finds one or two, a bit strong for him at sort of about where he fits in, but, uh, lovely and fit and he'll run that trip. And Oakfield, Utah has not a lot wrong. Um, it's one five from eight and the right sort of time to, to bring him down and, um, and see how it goes. And I mean, if they keep winning, you have to expect them to, to be carrying a little bit of weight. So, um, yeah, we'll see where he's at today.
Speaker 1Should we have a bet? He's 390 Lord Remlap. Like he's been 460 into 390. I love how you just said, yep. Can we just get on?
Speaker 2Mate, I think the horse is going terrific and I'd be surprised if he, I'd probably be surprised if he didn't win, to be honest with you.
Speaker 1Yeah, I like that. We like that. We really liked it. And I know our punters love that as well. Oakfield, Utah, by the way, uh, $9 in race three today spends a lot is currently, uh, around $6. You got McAvoy on both those horses, Michaela on Lord Remlap today. And just while I've got you, Quirky Princess goes to Tamworth tomorrow.
Speaker 2Yeah, look, right race for her. Um, definitely the right race for her. Um, a bit disappointed with the last start. Thought she'd go a bit better than that, but very hard placing majors that need that sort of journey. Um, but that's certainly the right race for her to be in there tomorrow. Um, not sure what price should be. I don't think there's anything flashed, but she'd be a, she'd be a decent enough chance.
