The Open Championship at Royal Brookdale delivered a dynamic yet uneven day, with standout performances from Sam Burns and Bryson DeChambeau. Burns, who recorded a strong 65, was praised for his consistency and pressure management, while Foxy’s 62 was celebrated as a dramatic, well-executed round, though critics noted it occurred in less challenging conditions than earlier in the week. The day’s performance felt more grind-heavy than flashy, with many players struggling on key back-nine holes, especially in the bunker on 14. Commentary emphasized how the reduced penalty for rough misses and favorable wind conditions skewed scoring, making it difficult to assess true competitiveness. The discussion also centered on Bryson’s controversial backswing moment, where he was accused of violating the rules by stepping over the grass. While the rules committee cited a "careless" error, media analysis questioned whether the incident was intentional or performative, and criticized the lack of clear evidence. Several commentators, including TC and DJ, argued that the incident was more about attention-grabbing than rule-breaking, and highlighted the need for greater transparency in rule enforcement. The broader theme was that the tournament reflected not just golf performance, but the evolving role of player behavior and media scrutiny in modern majors. Despite the controversy, the event maintained a strong sense of drama, with players like Tommy and Bryson engaging fans through performance and visibility. The commentary reflected a deepening awareness of how social media, player conduct, and rule interpretation shape public perception of the game.
Be the right club. Be the right club today.
Johnny, that's better than most.
How about him?
That is better than most.
Better than most!
Expect anything different?
I saw that golfer out there airmailing greens and having rules incidents at Royal Brookdale.
I was like, hey, I know that guy. I've seen that guy before.
I didn't see that. I saw an actor in his prime. That's what I saw.
A true thespian. I saw Fez, Deej.
Yeah, it was Fez Fest out there, man.
It was good day at the Open.
Sully, good to be with you. How are you?
That is the voice of DJ Pajowski. I am excellent.
These first couple segments here are going to be presented read-free, ad-free by our friends at
DJ Pajowski and the new GTS drivers.
Hard for me to mention the GTS drivers and not get into my sales pitch about how amazing that golf clip is.
But it's not even written in the script tonight, so I'm not going to do it.
Deej, how are we feeling? How are we looking?
54 holes and after quite an eventful Friday, maybe not quite as eventful of a Saturday morning and afternoon here.
Yeah, one of those where you're chomping at the bit as soon as you wake up.
I couldn't get enough of it yesterday. Today is going to be just as good.
I think we were due for a little bit of a hangover, right?
And that's to take nothing away from Sam Burns.
Who played awesome golf. Excited to talk about it.
Takes nothing away from the great man, Foxy, who played great golf this morning.
Injected a little bit of coarse discourse and excitement into the morning coffee this morning.
But yeah, it got a little, you know, a little flat.
I feel like Scotty couldn't get it going. Tommy kind of sputtered.
Johnny Rombo was nowhere to be found.
Like the big names and then Bryson was kind of sputtering on that front nine.
So it was a little bit of a little bit of a hangover day, which I think is to be expected.
But I think we're set up for.
For a nice final round.
Neil, what say you?
Yeah, I mean, PC called out.
He's probably somewhere over Virginia or something.
Who knows? We don't know where he is.
Where is TC? We do not know.
You know, we can't really get a confirmation there.
But there's some looting going on this morning.
It felt like it.
It was like, oh, my God, Foxy races out and all credit to me played awesome.
And I was concerned that, you know, the guys were starting to be freed up out there.
I said yesterday, it didn't feel like those 62s.
Like those guys were pinning their ears back early on the day.
I was like, man, the years are are pinned and then the score and then the course got harder.
It held up.
I thought both par fives on the back played, played hard.
I'd call out Sam Burns.
He birdied both 14 and 17.
I thought that was kind of I'd have to look at the numbers, but it felt like I test wise gaining on the field.
Everybody was struggling with that bunker on 14 so that the course held up.
But that led to a little bit of the you know, maybe some of this is.
The telecast as well.
Feeling like you're stuck in neutral, like somebody do something, you know what I mean?
It was a lot of like and shout out to Bryce.
He made a ton of big par putts, but felt it had a little bit more of a, I don't know, a grindy US open field to it today on that back nine.
Which I think is such a funny contrast with a lot of the a lot of the commentary.
And I hate launching immediately into just like commentary and reaction to commentary and reaction to reaction to reaction to react there to come.
Go on, dude.
But I just I.
I feel I feel a little crazy at times this week where I'm just like, it's easy in the morning and it's not easy in the afternoon.
And I think that's like pretty, pretty cut and dry.
You know, the 62 was it was the best round of the day by three or four shots.
I guess it was what?
Three shots because Sam Burns shot 65, but it's like nobody else was even close to that.
Foxy made a gazillion putts.
It's not it's I get it.
It's it's a little softer than people would like.
And I think I tend to be in that camp as well.
But.
It's not a it's not TPC Birkdale, man.
It's it's it's not there was consequence out there this afternoon.
It was an interesting still like display of different strategies out there.
You saw how Scotty and Tommy played today versus how Bryson certainly, but also even like Jackson Suber and Herbert were playing more aggressive.
And you've seen people's aggression kind of change throughout the week.
I just think there's still a lot more that meets the eye to this place that I've I've still really enjoyed watching.
I don't think it's some sort of free crack giveaway, and I think people see 62 and they freak the fuck out, which I guess is understandable to three of them set setting setting record.
But I just don't think I don't think all 62s are like created equal, I guess.
Well, yeah, there's I think there's a big difference in like, hey, one or two in this, you know, on a daily basis, one or two guys out of like a wave of like 78 or, you know, 44 in the morning, whatever it is this morning, one or two of them.
But an excellent, excellent round.
And for me personally, I don't care what that number actually ends up being where the problem comes in is like, hey, the dude that had like the 18th best round was like 65 today.
Like that's where like, dude, we the the median level of play here is too low and it's really hard to separate and we're just probably not headed towards interesting golf.
Like I compared this leaderboard right now and I know it's par 72 versus par 70, blah, blah, blah.
But like there's one player better than eight under par like that.
One of the one of the majors we were the hardest on setup wise scoring wise championship test wise was Valhalla in 2024 and there were 16 guys at 10 under par or lower after three rounds in that tournament like that.
That was the one where it was like, dude, if you're not shooting three or four under you're losing massive amounts of ground like you should 67s out here in this tournament.
You should three of them.
You're in second place right now.
That's a good good golf tournament if you ask me and but it is interesting to me of like in the whole distance debate and discussion, which we have stayed away from.
Almost entirely this week of like how upset people get when somebody is taking it low should be like the sales pitch we've gotten is like, yeah, everybody loves birdies.
Everybody loves the low scoring.
It's like people freak the fuck out.
People care about par two and like put that on the like we that is not a selling point at this point of like watching guys just tear places apart.
So and to put the blame on golf courses for that is my opinion is completely misguided and.
Just just like you said, you know, watching the difference of this golf course without much defense in the early part of the day into just like a little bit of wind like that's not that much wind like they've had wind, but it's not been dramatic.
Frankly, we played in much stronger winds when we were in Northwest England two months ago and at the same time like that this the golf course more than stood up this afternoon and there was one really good round.
I was saying Sam Burns at the round of the day.
If you ask me, I know Foxy shot lower, but I agree to do it in that spot, man.
I that is that.
That was some of the most serious golf.
I would, you know, hot take would be like this was a better round of golf than his 62 yesterday when we didn't see the 62, but like it is so different to do it in the back half post 3 p.m.
or whatever post 2 p.m.
Tea time that he had today and like Foxy's got to go do that tomorrow.
Like he gets it does not have the morning tea time tomorrow.
Burns did it today.
Like hats off to him and I'm stoked to see him bounce back this quickly after Shinnecock.
Can I I will say this though, and this is part of Lynx golf and he heard Fitzpatrick talk about it.
But.
That you I think the optics of the rough not being super penal is is a has a massive impact on this discourse that we're talking about and and Burns got some breaks today.
He hit it way left on 10 was a tent.
No nine.
I think he hit it way left on that and then he played 17 like they were talking about on the broadcast Smiley and facts.
It was good back and forth of like, I don't know what he's doing here.
He took iron off of 17 missed it left and he tried to like he hit push on 17.
He was up the left side.
You're right.
Then he tried to push a I think a six iron like way up there and they couldn't figure I hit that way left and that comes to rest like, you know, you get you get a few breaks in this rough and it can it can then he hit a great shot from there made birdie.
So I think the fact that guys are able to get out of jail when they blow it into the crowds up on the dunes.
There's it seems like more often than not there, you know, unless you're Bryson missing right on five coming out with like a, you know, a pretty good chance to get the ball on the green more often than not.
Not all the time.
So I think that's impacting the maybe the the course discourse, if you will say this, the data golf had the the missed fairway penalty at point four shots, which is stronger than a normal PGA Tour course, notably stronger than deep rough aeronomic that we saw earlier this year.
So that's just a and I think that that's including miss missing in fairway bunkers, which is obviously a much stronger punishment than missing the fairway, but that is still part of to your point, though, like the biggest flaw.
I think and we can understand the natural nature of how we got to this, but it is like throw the rough up.
I'm just saying, no, no, I think if you're just flipping this on, you're like, oh, man, it is.
He should be punished for that.
You know, it is hard to watch wide misses go.
Yeah, he's fine there.
Right.
But I think what the wind has given us is when you do get way out of position later in the day, even that little bit of wind, it has made those shots from out of position that much harder.
Like it is, you know, especially if you're downwind, like holding the ball on the greens gets a lot more challenging.
Guys are having no problem holding these greens from the fairway.
But if you.
Do you get the wind going the wrong direction?
just watching balls land into 14 today second or third shots in there with the wind coming off the
right i know the greens haven't been as firm as some people would like but you landed a ball with
the wrong spin on that green it was not holding like it would straight up and a great pin because
that bunker was eating people alive uh in front of that pin that was great and you know what i
loved was downwind 115 on seven yeah it was a fun one those guys i was giving guys fits they were
all trying to like lay off like sand wedges you know it was just it looked like a lot of guys
making uncommitted swings there and jackson super looked like his like his the level of his head
dropped like yeah i know his knees he's like yeah he was wishing that one on the green it was great
it's great yeah should we bring in our fourth our fourth have we heard from him he's he's here he's
in the room he's in the room with us right now where is he is the question will he or won't he
can you guys hear me
hello
oh
crazy yeah i got this whole place to myself
it's wild what was it 7c is that your seat 7a uh usually well that's that's on that's on domestic
flights if i don't get upgraded normally i'm uh i am uh mr five five l
i'm in my house okay yeah for the for the folks listening on the audio uh tc is uh
do you have a statement you'd like to issue uh yeah i was watching it with my son freddie today
and like he was like rooting tommy on and he's like man like this is all and i was like i don't
want to leave like i i just didn't want to like even when i don't know scotty or uh tommy was was
playing really well early in the back nine there and um you know just hitting the shots and i just
thought you know what like like and freddie asked me he's like dad can we watch the golf and like i
i really want to see tommy how's tommy doing and i was like man that's sick like he's he's he plays
golf but he's not really into watching pro golf at least until sunday afternoon at like 4 30 or 5
and uh yeah and then i figured man it was just like there were thunderstorms up the east coast
today i was gonna miss my connection to munich and uh and then i was gonna have to drive down
to orlando and and i was just like you know what like i just want to and i think you see you know
i mean yeah
fantastic father but maybe uh you're not fan at what cost
you're gonna have to suffer those slings and arrows uh i i can honestly say if not for the
international feed for the world feed and the feature groups i probably would be on an airplane
right now because uh like it's it's been a delight to watch the sky feed and and you know all of that
versus what what nbc is subjecting us to so we can get there later though we'll we'll get
you're not gonna you're not gonna uh skate on that diminishment of foxy 62 either
yeah what'd you think of the great man foxy today tc but it was inspired stuff uh i don't know i mean
it's listen we've been over it the greens aren't quite as like they've been putting more water on
them than i think they probably should be but otherwise i like the setup and sally i think
you were spot on like you got to go get it the best guy you know minus 10 is leading
two guys at minus 8 65 66 67 those are very good scores um but if you want to pin your ears back
and get the momentum going you can there's just some booby traps there i wish there was a little
bit more penalty like you said neil for wide misses uh but the wind's not blowing and the
roughs down so it is what it is it's forged by nature except for the greens uh i thought
foxy was brilliant today he was absolutely brilliant and he's played his way into this
thing
with a 62 a meaningful 62 yeah we had uh he was even par we had uh no one we said minus we said
even par was too far back last night um we didn't he was i think he was 750 to one uh to win the
championship starting today i believe as of right now he's plus uh he's seven and a half to one so
he's cut his odds by whatever that math is a hundred times uh just in in in 18 holes of golf
so it was it was incredible round of golf and we we did say like
last night i was like there there is the conditions are gonna be easy in the morning
somebody might be doing it we we talked ourselves into it being rory it most certainly was not but
um i i was i was 99 sure that's where you were going to start deflection wise tc instead of
addressing the tommy situation uh tommy wise it was exactly what we've witnessed over the last
like that that was the tommy experience like dj i'll put it to you i don't like it watching that
yeah i joined you at the beginning of the week on like you know what i'm gonna i'm
i'm a romantic as well i i'm i'm picking tommy what a story it would be and every i don't think
he's like it doesn't until i mean the shot on 14 today the shot on 18 today it's just long
long stretches where it's like this guy is it's not capable of missing a shot it's it's really
fun to watch and everything's sawed off all those kind of like half mid-irons that he's hitting to
just perfect distances he's scaring a lot of the putts he's not making all the ones he should make
but he's scaring a lot of the putts he's not making all the ones he should make but he's
scaring a lot of those long ones and it's just it's invigorating the whole crowd is is you know
they're singing rider cup chants to him as he's walking up it is absolute scenes tc and i'm i got
fully fully fully wrapped up in it the last two days and to see him miss the one on 16 yesterday
was just like i hate this i why do i have why am i doing this to myself and then seeing him do it
on 14 today granted he got it up and down for par but it was like it's just i even called out to you
football but like look i i know that this is how it works i know we're about to get rug pulled here
i know i've i've read i've done all the reading i've watched all the history i i understand but
like man this guy looks comfortable right now having said all that this guy looks really
comfortable and he immediately dumps into that bunker with a wedge on 14 and it's like it's i
don't know shifts of uh of he who must not be named uh who we eulogize yesterday i think there
it's just the the heart wants it the eyes want it uh the eyes want it the eyes want it the eyes want
it the brain knows probably what's about to happen uh but man it's been a really fun ride and we're
not we're not out of it we're not out of it yet we're not dead but we got six yeah we got one more
put the heart back in and then rip it back out we got one more run he makes about seven runs per
tournament if we've if we've been on this roller coaster before it if how tony fee now got the
reputation amongst you guys for the for throwing it in reverse after a hot run i don't know uh but
it every time like there's zero zero percent chance he's not three under through five tomorrow
like he will 100 if he goes and does his his shinnecock 63 tomorrow if he shoots 63 tomorrow
sam burns has got to shoot 67 to beat him you know it's not guaranteed sam burns gone what 62 65
hard to back up two low ones you know he's you think it'd be hard to back up 62 but apparently
not primo spot for that top 10 though just sitting at t9 oh top five yeah it's it's comfy
the most frustrating part was like i was totally at ease or you know at peace with like he's gonna
win this thing and i'm not gonna be there and i'm gonna be watching with with my family in the back
porch on the couch and it's gonna be great and then even when he hit that shot on 15 that chip
on 15 uh and of course like he missed the putt but i'm like man that that chip was awesome all
right we're back
we're back that's momentum and then you know stuff sit on like like oh damn near tries to
hole it a couple times coming in uh 17 yeah and then you know that was when you know he damn near
holes it nbc's in in playing through the chants are loud he's coming up to the green all of that
it's great he made a big putt to keep it in it but um i don't know i was i was pretty i was
pretty jazzed up after the birdie on seven because neil neil to your point i thought that
was one of the most interesting holes of the day with how short it was downwind you know it's just
a gnarly little one and um yeah so anyway we're we're t9 and we're how many back four back five
back five back i think if you want to if you want to be critical like i don't think he's played this
hasn't been like loser he hasn't driven it well he's been he's been a lot of service to 63rd off
the team so yeah it could be a lot of he's not pushing it up there too that's exactly what i was
going to say that i think he's been a lot of service to 63rd off the team so yeah i think he's
i think if you wanted to be critical it's like didn't get nine or ten he's laying it back a lot
it's a lot of like man if this if they were playing at shinnecock i think you'd be winning by
five you're technically playing the golf course as it's uh you know as it's laid out but i'm like
some other guys are just taking more risk man and able to push it up there farther and it just
puts a lot of pressure on continuing to hit those irons as as good as he has so and it's he's he's
so accurate with driver that it's that's the kind of frustrating part that he's not
i don't know that that that's the part i do i don't like questioning strategy just because
like these like finno and tommy and like yeah questioning tommy's strategy like on
legacy golf seems silly but having watched all the other players hit as many drivers as they
have and seeing the the lack of rough penalty like we've talked about i i i maybe that's it
like he's he's so accurate that his inaccurate shots are likely to more more likely to end up
in the bunkers fairways in the bunkers instead of in the rough that
uh you know he's got to think about it a little bit differently yeah we're starting to simp well
i will i do want to say one one highlight for me is uh the like kind of deep
throated cheers for tommy it's not tommy it's like it's like thommy it almost gets to be like
homie come on homie come on there's like no tea anymore you know get in there now i know i've
been watching too much golf because i'm analyzing the pronunciation of his name but it's just like
you know from all angles you just hear it uh from the english it's great i think i mean overall he's
answered the bell it's been a i can't imagine how draining this week is and it seems like he's used
the crowd the correct way to you know like he's leaned into it and stuff too and it seems like
he's enjoying the week which i love he said he said no i don't feel pressure i felt nerves this
week and excitement and adrenaline that but that's my own expectations the crowd have been incredible
they've made a massive difference to me i said over there whatever happens tomorrow like like
yesterday evening the first tea everything today when i was in contention that stuff i'll have for
life to be honest how many people in the golfing world get to experience that with the crowd that
much on your side it's been a very special week for me no matter what if i can get it tomorrow
i could make it even more special we'll see uh tc i don't know how we found ourselves in this
uh sam burns versus tommy heads up bet every week but that's proved to be uh very prescient i don't
know if we if we need to do a little say something nice about sam burns challenge but uh i feel like
he's i feel like he's winning you over yeah he's definitely one of my respect of he's meaning like
he just hasn't gone away he's he's stuck his nose right in it i'm it's all i like all joking
aside with the foxy stuff i thought burns is 65 today was the round of the day considering the
circumstances and everything um it's much different teen off at 9 a.m versus 2 p.m and yeah
you know he wants the ball man like that's that's the thing with burr he just looks like he wants
it he looks the higher the pressure gets the harder it looks like he swings in terms of like
this will not be if i'm going down i'm going down hard all right and he doesn't really go down like
he's been close uh without really like he's been close uh he's been close uh he's been close
like melting down uh on top of himself and i don't know i i think he's i think he's well tomorrow's
sam burns in the final group at a major is becoming good theater you know it's becoming
it's a thing now and i'm very very excited uh to see how he reacts to that um he's because
and yeah i know we're to say something nice but he's not an exciting golfer for me
if that um you know i don't mean that as a and i don't mean that as a diss he's just so above
average at like everything it almost blends you know it's
there's not um it's not super loud it's just really really good um so i yeah it's an interesting
spot for him again tomorrow i think i've been yeah like he never grabbed me and i never really
he i think he always just struck me as kind of a like this sounds bad to say but kind of a dumb
redneck when he came out of lsu and how could that sound bad i don't understand i think there's a lot
more like it seems like there's a lot more to him and he's got some he's got some substance to him
he's a thoughtful interview um he's a dog he wants the ball and and yeah he's he's like i think he
knows how to hit the right shots he knows how to hit the proper shots so um sam burns you know i
i would have no no issue with him winning tomorrow in fact i feel like that's master i think that's
one of the better outcomes for tomorrow i think it frames it up in a in a historical way better
than almost anybody else i think if that happens tomorrow you'll find us you know around a campfire
with each other grabbing a vodka seltzer a vodka iced tea maybe a tequila seltzer no matter the
occasion uh high noon has something for you i reach for the peach today today was a peach day
you know it was it's it's a very solid flavor not my favorite but a very above it's above the
line for me uh and today just felt like a nice peach day what do you got what do you got there
i got watermelon today no i got i got watermelon back to the basics that's a top top two one for
me there if you're looking for your next

12 pack for moss fiesta all are made with real tequila real juice perfect for any fiesta no
matter where you plan to throw it find the high noon tequila seltzer fiesta pack nearest you
at high noon spirits.com high noon sun's up one more thing on sam burns uh i we got god i'm really
i mean they you know with harman they might punch themselves out on that one i mean talk about you
know there's a lot of like uh you know we have to apply the rules fairly everybody's stopping their
their lives down well i think this is in that same category okay you know it will it uh what
they call harman the butcher butcher yeah brian the butcher yeah which of course is john robb who
didn't who actually i think john robb and sam burns are the same people who did the same thing
you can tie these together i think what i like about sam burns and what i like about foxes around
i think putting these greens is an immense skill and some of these guys look absolutely flummoxed
by by the greens i mean scotty is the most the most obvious example but it's it's scotty it's
rom it's cam young today there's a couple of these guys that like i mean they just look lost out
there and i think yeah i know sam burns is hitting the ball amazing as well but i don't know i i
think he feels like a not overly
technical let me just figure out how to get the ball in the hole on the greens type of guy and i
don't think it's coincidence that he's now on 62 65 on these greens i'm not even supposed to be
there like unexpected this was right around the due date of his daughter the daughter comes two
weeks early and kind of a little bit of a surprise gets you know is able is able to play across the
pond like this is the probably seemed like a very low odds to himself that uh that he was going to
be able to to pull this one off and that's when you play the best soli low expectations man you
know
that's that's it so i thought i was gonna say newborn phase is not when i played my best but um
uh you guys want to get to the the thespian as uh i should ask you i should ask you i should ask
you to uh to pronounce that one again uh hell yeah let's get to him bryson uh did indeed play
uh despite you know the very very real threat to not play uh last night uh showed up on site
you know came to the first tee that
was in playing through of course uh played i mean he shot 100 that's so up man that's like
straight up it's so up i i hate i'm sorry for the language i hate to be crass i hate to be maybe
there's something i don't get about this but i'm like man for 12 hours as a gold fan i'm just like
is he gonna play is he not gonna play at what's the crowd gonna do what's he gonna look like is he
gonna wave what's it gonna be and it's in a playing through on nbc and i'm just like that was
the moment where i was like yo i'm i'm not doing this like i had to fire up peacock i had to go to
a different tv where i had peacock installed and like go to the sky feed it's just a it's a nightmare
that's like i know a lot of times we're just like oh i can't believe they they misspelled this name
on the graphics like what a disaster like this is like storytelling stuff and usually what i would
give nbc a lot of credit for i thought they were awesome yesterday on like when news is breaking
i think nbc is really good you know and i think cbs is that way too but when when it's like a we're
locked in on the story follow us for updates as they develop i think nbc is really good and they
were really good about that yesterday and so for them to to completely miss that today is just like
dude are we what are we doing where are we we're stuck in the middle again here and it's just
anyways it was very emblematic of just kind of a rudderless sort of experience i mean i got
kisner clapping at solly from the booth during during the broadcast uh listen in defense of
kids i'm gonna throw him a bone here they got like 11 guys in there he's got some serious breaks to
phil you know what i mean like come on it's like we're gonna kick it over to terry and brad for 15
and and kids is just scrolling just yeah clapping back at me yeah like hold on guys yeah go over go
over the other side of the booth i'm gonna i got some stuff to handle here yeah so they opened the
broadcast um you know with mike terry or um was it terrico no it was dan hicks with them um you
know opened the nbc uh or when that team came in i guess because terrico was originally on but that
team came on they did a reset uh kind of introducing this this whole thing uh hicks teased kisner up
he says obviously from the bryson standpoint nobody likes to see him walking in there like
he's a wwe wrestler going into his first match high stepping through the grass uh through the
grass no other players doing that then he says i
the walking official was over there during this every group has a walking official why is he not
part of this it was obviously an awkward situation we have officials in every group he should be over
there so we're not having to do all this post round if the walking official is there he could
explain to everyone and had eyes on it so we didn't have to use video cameras i think that
was a big miss uh and then he would go on later say every time you're back home and you call an
official and i know bryson didn't call an official in but lots of guys were over there the official
could have easily walked over there they remind you hey you're a penalty area hey don't knock any
limbs off the trees things like that it's very often that happens which this was a lot a lot of
stuff to pre-crime a lot of stuff there and this was my opinion that i stated on this was like
well that was like a little bit on like bryson breaking a rule here and like we had a whole
massive performative will he or won't he withdraw they went back out onto this like the scene
yesterday was the ruling going back out there and i thought that was
pretty massive story and like that was kind of their chance to to weigh in on that i thought like
nbc did an incredible job last night like you said
live from last night did an incredible job amin was great brando was great mcginley was great
rich an absolute pro and i thought this was like a really big moment for like the lead analyst
in the open championship to like weigh in on this and he spent the majority of the time talking
about a walking official there and how that could have prevented some of this and i don't i don't
say don't even know if i understand what he's talking about was it that it could have been
that the walking official could have penalized him right there had he seen it which to that i
would say i don't think it's the walking official's job to like all three players in the group on a
friday watching every single one of their moves uh and determining whether or not they broke a
rule and also that an official didn't have like the dead-on face-on look that we saw on the
television camera one or two like it almost like sounded like he was saying that the rules official
should have been there to warn him like if you step on the grass back there and i don't want to
put words in his mouth but that that's kind of what it felt like in there and you know like hey
if you step on the grass here that's going to be a penalty it was like hey like the
rules of golf are on bryson here this was not about a walking official in any way the rules
of golf apply to all of us that play this game like if i go break this rule it's not going to be
a rules official's fault uh for not calling it out in the moment or something like that which
was my opinion kisner clapped back with yeah you guys have you know with all of your experience
and your tour starts was like the typical athlete thing of like we're not going to debate the actual
topic here it's you're disqualified i know what i'm talking about you don't play we play a different
game up here
super disrespectful like that they usually don't enforce even yeah you don't understand the rules
don't apply to us here uh because you know somebody like if i if i was a tour player i'd hit people
with that a lot too i gotta say if it was about like strategy or like i disagree how to hit a
technique or you know what it's like to be under i can't comment on any of those things i can't
comment on your role as a media person uh and your opinion that you gave out on this matter like
this was not i was not the only one that had this opinion as well sports illustrator wrote this up
of like how bizarre this was of like what was that about like i don't understand i really didn't
understand it so sally i thought like i was actually impressed with kisner that he came out
and said hey like like basically bryson was in the wrong he clearly broke the rule here that was
started there like that was where he started and i was like oh hell yeah like all right i was
expecting kisner to you know like i'm fascinated to see what scotty says about all this like he
you know he rightfully deferred everything
until after the tournament but like i was pretty disappointed in some of the stuff henley and max
were saying after their rounds today we're like and you know maybe we do the rory stuff now maybe
we do it a little bit but like i think everybody's got an opinion on this and i would say 80 80 of
the tour guys i've talked to both pga tour dp world tour corn fairy whatever or you know veterans who
who are now retired like eight out of ten of them have been like oh yeah like that's so out
of bounds there like well just to close the loop on this i want to clarify like i i'm i i think this
is a shame i i hate x for a lot of reasons but this being one of them is like i'm a fan of kevin
kisner i think he's a great personality i think like i think he has a role in television and i've
said this before and i'll say again like i think the lead the part of the reason why i'm critical
of this is like i think it is contrasting at times for him to be the lead analyst of nbc
and major championships when like for this reason exactly i think this probably the
lead analyst here should have taken this in a different direction is like my critique there so
i think it's a really big spot for him and i don't think that analysis and commentary met the moment
here when you're introducing and bringing this topic to the network television audience that
might be like taking it in for the first time i didn't feel like that met the moment that's my
opinion i i'm sure he's gonna have an opinion on this i would agree with you soli and what i would
say is i've never really heard of the the walking referee or rules guy is not a soccer referee
they're not they're not out there handing a yellow card they're not
referees they're they're there to like like yo if you need me call for me that's how it's like
so for a pro golfer to like relate it like that it's just that didn't make any sense to me so
yeah he's not a consultant or he's not a yeah it's it's it's i think sol the other thing too
is like kisner saying that he slept in or he he went to bed early last night and missed all this
yeah and that's like yeah i'm putting that aside even of all that just like try to meet in the
i i again i think this is like the example of like why we're critical of him at times why we're
critical of nbc at times like this this felt feels fails to have met the moment in my opinion but
again i think he has a role in television like i think he's got a great personality i think nbc does
not put him in a good position because i don't think they put anybody in a good position to
succeed with how many people they have in the booth we've covered that uh on repeat but that
just felt like um i don't know i i i if you can't tell i i don't like me like that uh that that
constant attitude like hey i'm trying to talk about a topic here and the i played on tour you
didn't you're not qualified to ever have an opinion on anything is uh is pretty disrespectful
so to be fair he also takes his analysis in that direction like often as well like some of the
stuff that he says and taking the player's side and stuff dj i thought you said a great thing
earlier today when it was chorico and kurt byram early on and it was like wait like how fucked up
is this that we're going from
chorico and and byron does a great job in like into like we're we're taking them off screen so
that we can bring in the quote-unquote a team i don't know how the a team doesn't include the guy
who has done this for so long but also does the olympics and also does football and again in two
like there's getting antics there yeah it's just a it's a very weird we're gonna replace him in
the aggregate sally yeah i guess with numbers i don't know can we i do want to talk a little bit
before we get to the rory stuff and some of the commentary i thought bryce had a really gritty uh
round he's agreed he spotted early but man he made so many big par putts except for 18
uh you know his getting out of jail on 14 was really impressive from that bunker um so you
know just credit to him because he shot on 15 was incredible yeah i and he is hitting it's so funny
because he's like really mechanical and i think you know i said like his
driver setup looks like a hydraulic arm on a trash truck like you know he's like lifting up
you know and but then he hits like some really artistic stuff too like he's hitting some
some cuts he's shaping the ball um you know but then yeah like so it's it's it's like god he's
all it's it's uh it is magnetic to watch and i was really impressed with he got off to a bad start
and i i kind of felt like he was gonna fold a little bit and he didn't he he showed a ton of
grit on the back nine he he's got a lot of grit on the back nine and he's got a lot of grit on the
totally agree until 18 really he like he hasn't had that big left ball going that we've seen from
him when he gets into contention to majors lately of like that ball he can't keep off the left
whatever adjustments he's made equipment wise which we know he the crank driver or whatever
like it's been a good adjustment for him jason statham driver out there
soli i would actually say i think on 18 he lost his focus he started playing in the crowd started
you know kind of i don't say mocking the rules official but a little bit of theater there on 18
and then he's you know he's walking up 18 he's waving to the crowd and then he just yeah he kind
of just hit a bad chip like that was it was it seemed like he just got a little uh lost in the
in the performance there this image is on the screen right now keep in mind sandbirds is two
shots clear of the field it's a saturday g.i walk up the bryson's three back of him bryson goes first
and like the applause that they save for like the the guy leading the open and this isn't the sunday
walk but like the guy you get your 54 whole walk you're gonna take it and you're gonna take it and
you're gonna take a lead into the final round of the open chip bryson goes first takes the hat off
waves at the crowd flashes the thumbs up at him as if it's all for him that would
floored me that absolutely rocked me like just content king him doing the tiptoe through the
fescue doing this it's it's very uh bigger he's working on he's working his thumbnails
optimization here you know we're trying some stuff he's like bill murray and kingpin is
very much what it's starting to starting to feel like
god finally above the law yeah i'm finally above the law
um let's get to the rory video let's get to rory yeah let's let's go for that
so i was watching it live i was up in the players lounge watching it with a few other players and
um as soon as he made the step into the ball we all sort of looked each up each other and we're
like that didn't seem right um and then when i heard that he was
you know he was called in by the rules officials i think we all it was pretty obvious for for why
um yeah i mean i think you know i think there's no doubt that he improved the line of his backswing
so you know and again it's like whether it was careless or whether it was intentional i don't
think it matters hopefully it was careless um but i think the two shot penalty was was justified for
sure what did what do you think the scenes after obviously you guys were delayed getting your tea
times as well because of it all going on late night for everyone
yeah um yeah i like i you know i won't pretend to be up here and defend bryson i'm not particularly
fond of him um i think a lot of it's performative uh i think a lot of it's for attention and yeah
you know to to hold the tournament hostage like that and have all of us volunteers players
everyone waiting on him to depart i didn't feel like it was a great look
do you do you think anybody was doing look he's gonna say like again i don't
I'm not in his mind.
I'm not in his – but it didn't look good.
A lot in that.
I'm sure he might be winning me back.
It hits a lot harder when you see the video of it.
I don't know.
It's refreshing to hear someone speak directly like this.
I'll say that.
I think you could have your issues with Rory,
and has he been performative?
Sure, but I don't think anything he's saying there is wrong.
DJ, I think you said it earlier.
If we can't agree that Bryson's not performative,
then I don't know if there's – is there any truth left in this world?
Yeah, I don't think words mean anything if we can't all be like –
and I'm not even saying that's a bad thing.
He's tiptoeing through the fescue.
He's literally performing.
Yeah, he's the guy who makes YouTube videos.
He's the guy who did the bacon frying video.
He's the guy who –
Where's the stupid hats?
He's the guy who – he does –
The Nickelodeon golfer.
Yeah, if we can't agree – I'm not even saying it pejoratively,
but it's like if we can't agree that he's performative,
then it's like, okay, then we can't say the sky is blue.
We can't say that up is up, down is down.
Nobody can agree on anything.
That's the part that I'm like,
you can have all the brain worms you want for Rory's actually horrible,
but, man, you can't deny that he's –
the use of that word is spot on.
I think we need to start there probably.
It really isn't – he makes a clear statement on this,
and there's one part that's just not necessary of like,
yeah, I'm not really fond of him.
You could have made the point without saying that.
You know what?
I would argue that I love that he did.
I think that that's like the – that's my favorite part of it,
not in some mean-spirited way.
It's like, hey, he's providing context.
He's getting it out there.
Like, hey, this is the angle that I'm coming at it from.
I'm not particularly fond of this guy,
but, yeah, this is how I feel.
Like, you asked me the question, and this is –
and I don't know.
He could have deflected it and said, hey, I'll talk about it on Sunday night,
but, you know, he didn't feel like it.
And I imagine he probably would have if he was T4,
but good on him for speaking on it.
Contrast that with Scotty who just refused to speak on it publicly.
I also didn't have a problem with that.
Yeah, I get it.
Scotty was thoughtful about how he said that.
He was like, I do have a lot of thoughts.
I just don't feel like doing it right now.
Like, there's – you know.
And then, actually, at the very end of the Scotty clip,
a reporter's like, so follow up in a week or two?
And he's like, eh.
I think you're going to – yeah.
And then the video cuts off.
Media studies class.
But I think once you get to –
I think once players see how Scotty handles stuff like that,
I just think you're going to see a lot more of that
where you see, like, oh, man, if I do it with grace,
I don't really have to talk about anything.
Because I was listening to Scotty.
I'm like, I'm fascinated.
What the number one player in the world has to say
about the integrity of the competition
and did one of the other players in contention bend the rules?
Should they have been penalized?
Was it fair?
How do you feel about this as a player?
Like, I have a million questions about what Scotty feels
and thinks about that.
But I also have immense sympathy for him being like,
hey, I'm trying to win the championship.
I'm trying to go win a major.
Unsaid here, but basically between the lines is like,
if I say something, it's going to turn into a huge shitstorm.
And I just don't really need that distraction.
Yeah, no, I don't do that.
And I'm going to try to focus on making some putts.
Because I'm like, ah.
Oh, I get that.
Hard to argue with, man.
I get it.
But I love that Rory's just like, fucking bring it, dude.
Bring it.
I do not care.
I do not care about your little egg avatars coming out.
I do not care.
You're just jealous because he's playing better than you.
Which, there's this thing going around about Rory hitting the sand
on a backswing.
Have you guys seen this thing going around?
I have not seen it.
I don't think there's.
I've seen the chatter.
There's a ton of chatter on it.
All I can tell is that somebody.
This week?
Well, so here's what I think happened.
As far as I can tell.
There's like an AI screenshot, AI summary screenshot going around
of Rory hitting the ball, hitting the sand on a backswing
at some point at Berkdale.
But like, if you like, find the link.
I went searching for the video.
Couldn't find it anywhere.
If you go searching in the links for it,
it brings up the bunker shot he hit last week at the Scottish Open
where he spun it really hard.
And it's like he accidentally hit the sand.
And the club bounced off the sand and it nipped it perfectly.
And it spun really hard.
But like AI is taking that and blending it with like, yes,
he accidentally hit the sand and making it about the backswing.
And every all the bots are screenshotting this,
sending the same screenshot of the AI thing around saying that,
you know, the RNA is burying the Rory thing and penalizing Bryson,
which look, if there is video, please send it my way.
I just have not seen any evidence that he scraped the sand.
I didn't think the AI deep fakes were going to come for golf rules.
So maybe they're not AI deep fakes.
Maybe it's just Lady J and she's leveraging her entire platform with AI.
And to the point, it's like I saw, you know,
so well, if this was anybody other than Bryson,
like, honestly, I thought about that all last night.
I'm like, if it was, I'd feel the same way.
Like Lowry.
Like, yes.
Yeah.
Last year, Lowry.
Yeah.
It's like, dude, the ball moved.
Sorry.
That sucks.
But like, that's a stroke.
Cam Young and Cadillac, like all move, man.
Sorry that I hit somebody up on next for that too.
It was like, hey,
he's like, if this was Rory, you'd be, you'd forgive it.
So, hey, if Rory does this, takes rules officials out there,
does all of this, clearly threatens not to play,
goes and hits balls performatively into the dark for an hour after the round,
threatening not to play, won't confirm as of last night,
holds up the entire field, getting tee time,
because he won't confirm if he's going to continue the champion.
When Rory does that, we will call him out.
Just like when he peeled out of the parking lot.
Yeah.
A little month for 18 months.
Yeah.
You guys, what's your problem?
You just,
cause, cause you lost your phone number.
You guys don't like, yeah, you guys are so great, man.
But it's just like, that's disgusting.
I still don't understand how Wyndham stepping directly behind his ball at the
US Open was different, but we can take that offline.
No, you can't sprinkle that in there and take that offline.
Like it, it, one is extremely conclusive evidence of down the line.
We're watching the grass bend backwards from Bryson and the wind up in
different directions.
Totally.
Yeah.
The wind up thing is it.
There's not multiple angles that show like that level of improving the
backs.
And first of all, it's not like waist high, uh, for Wyndham.
Like it is for, for Bryson.
And it like, it was just such a weird thing.
It was like directly behind it.
And I'm not certain the whole compression, but I agree with solid here.
Like, I don't think you're wrong to be like, ah, you know, it's uncomfortable,
but it's like, there wasn't, I don't think there was enough evidence with
Bryson and some of it is, I hate to say this, but it's like, well, now we
need cameras everywhere.
It's like, well, some of it is like, yo, if you're like, you know, if you're
like, if cameras are on you, like heavy is the crown baby.
And like, that's, you can't just not enforce the rules because some people
might be getting away with it.
Like that doesn't work for me either.
I totally agree on that front.
Like the, the, you know, some guys have the camera on them more often.
Cool.
Like that, that means the best players and like, they've, they've earned
the most consequential shots for the competition.
So like sometimes a penalty doesn't matter if you're four off the cut line.
Like it just doesn't like, and we, we're not, we're not like, you know,
saying it's okay to cheat if you get four off the cut line, I'm saying, but
it's just like part of, but it's part of the nature of the game is like, if
we are going to, if there's going to be evidence out there of you clearly
breaking a rule, then they're good.
You're going to get penalized for it.
Right.
And yes, is it a little unfair, but also like that's there almost to
protect you.
Like, otherwise you broke a rule and just got away with it.
Like what, what's the goal of that?
Like, that's, that's, that's not honest.
That's like, it's a tree fall in the forest thing.
Like I was wondering this, this morning, like,
Bryson was so, um, you know, he was like, he was not stepping gingerly.
Right.
Some of it is just like effort.
Like it's a little bit of editing of like, are you, it's a little bit of
acting, you know, where are you like performance?
Yeah.
Are you making an effort to like, I'm stepping over here.
You don't, you don't like some of this does come down to that.
And I, you know, you look at the clip of him and you're like, man, that's
just like, you're just, I don't know if you're just not thinking, man, but
you can't do it like that.
Like, that's not how it works.
That in that exact spot at minimum, Bryson has to show care around the
life.
Yeah.
That's what I'm getting at.
That is, that is the most damning part of it is like, you can't, you can
dispute whether or not it laid down the grass enough to affect his
backswing.
Like, I think that is a fair thing to dispute that we don't have like
indisputable evidence on that, but you cannot dispute that he was not
careful enough.
He brought this into question to the point where people thought that the
rules officials thought there was a violation and they are also a
game of honor.
Like if, if, if it's, Hey, you know what, man, there's a chance that, that,
that, that, that did affect it.
Cool.
I'm going to accept the penalty.
Like, that's the thing.
Like it's been so flipped on its head as a sport.
Oh, it's on everyone else to prove that, that I did something wrong instead
of making best efforts to play by the rules and, and go out of your way to
appear as though you are playing by the rules.
Man.
I also just, I go back to, you know, this is an internet,
social media, larger cultural thing probably.
But the, the amount of, I got so many texts today that were like, I don't
know, man, that doesn't look that different from like what I do on the
course.
It's like, well, you probably don't know the rules as well as the guy that
are the guys that are enforcing it.
And that's kind of how I feel too.
And this is why I turned into such an imposter with where did it cross
Twitter?
Where was there?
I'm just like, yo, I, I shouldn't be making this call.
I don't know.
I don't know.
But like the guy, there were six or seven rules officials whose job it is
who the last.
fucking thing they want to do is bring the shit storm.
onto themselves like they don't want to give that penalty they're not just like licking their chops
looking for a way to get to insert themselves into this these are the guys that literally write the
rules for most people on planet earth at enforcing the way the rules are written and what is and what
isn't and it's just when you get people on twitter just like i don't know man agree to disagree how's
he supposed to line up his ball it's like well well dog like you're not technically you're you're
not guaranteed to just have like a fucking runway to your ball to do your pre-shot routine if you
hit in the middle of a tree like that's not how it they don't you don't get to chop the tree down
so that you can do your your whole pre-shot that's not how it works you might have those texts too
and it's like yo it's it's coming from you know friends it's like well you're playing like the
whatever ball you found in the woods you can't do that either you know you guys see that was a rule
like it you know there's a one ball rule that you don't even know like it's it's it's it might be
like to max's point because he he had some takes as well i think he's what i interpreted
with max which i disagreed with is like the rule he doesn't it seemed like he disagreed with the
rule itself like oh it's for like the junior golfer that's like that there was intent involved and
it's like the fact is the intent doesn't matter here you know again they've made abundantly clear
yeah and i think gave him an out on like this was he there was no malicious intent here this was an
accidental improvement of the lie which this is the same as pulling your club back and knocking
leaves off or whatever you know it's like you're doing that on purpose but that's still still the
rule which a couple things there mark darvin ceo of rna uh today said it's a clear-cut decision
that's one two we didn't talk about this last night but like the language the rna came out with
of like they said inadvertently was kind of like that that theorizing here that had to be what was
under like the the what was under such discussion late into the night last night had to be around
what the statement's going to be because like he yes honestly that i understand from bryson's
standpoint of like this is a shit storm for me and uh the last thing i need is being perceived
as a cheater here and like getting that language into it was probably a foul call thing i would
imagine and like that probably was a lot of the hold up and a lot of the you know whatever
razzmatazz what's the word i'm looking for around around the whole thing hullabaloo
i would say also though uh rory had just a little bit of like a i'm gonna get the exact words uh he
said hopefully
it was careless uh in there was very was the most beautiful way to suggest it might not have been but
i'm not saying that it was uh intentional but hopefully it was care i'm not in his head you
know i i can't say i can't say uh i mean yeah good man like let's get a little let's get a
little action in here deej huh that's right turn it up rory turn up that pavarotti for me baby
good stuff uh if you're gonna be so when we went
actually over in those right tree of the in that when we played there at birkdale like it can it can
get around your ankles but like you're gonna be pretty heavily protected if you wait in there and
you're wearing the uh delta looper pants uh the delta the delta pants i believe from robeck uh
i like to just go we've been doing this lately i want to go around the horn everybody quickly
shout out one product you're vibing with from our friends at robeck neil i'm gonna go with i mean

options that the hezzy has i mean it's the it's got to be the best seller for for robeck uh pick
yourself up a new hezzy hoodie deej uh i would shout out it may look like i'm wearing just a
normal polo but no au contraire this is a sweater polo uh it's something a little bit a little bit
elevated a little a little warmer for those you know when the sun goes down but maybe you're
sitting out on the 19th hole tc uh it's just i love these i can't get enough of the the sweater
polo they're great especially up here tc uh i gotta do it to him the grit short you know i'm a dog
i'm gritty i'm a rat i like the grit short it's like 98 degrees here in florida today
um and the grit short's perfect for it i've not been outside yet today but if i was the
highlands hoodie would be great even to go outside in the summer it's lightweight uh but it's just a
great hoodie to wear uh around the house a little lighter than the hezzy little little little little
bit more substance than the blitz uh the tech hoodie robeck.com r-h-o-b-a-c-k.com code n-l-u

away oh how about that all right why not
i feel like trying to get your hands on the physical scorecard for no reason that's essential
stuff and not performative horrible comment too yeah this guy sucks but i think no we got to give
it to him we got to play by the rules beaver you've had a lot of bad takes in the chat i've
been following him but we're not gonna we're not gonna we can't stack the deck that way
yeah that would be a way to back we're men of honor here this is fair and balanced i understand
i don't like it though we're not gonna we're not gonna we're not gonna we can't stack the deck that way
okay i'm gonna do it i don't have to like it exactly all three of you cody at no laying up
dot com we'll give some pro shop credit away uh a little bit later on in the show
beaver gladiator now i'm looking for a comment what did he say yeah what did he say uh something
about us being pussies and just not admitting something and it's just uh i don't know yeah
it lived up a lot of first amendment stuff man yeah a lot of a lot of outrageous twitter bias
coming at us yeah exactly uh real quick i think we kind of glossed over it because i think the most
impressive shot i saw all day was foxy from the bunker on 18. oh pushing that was chips in man
it was awesome it was awesome yeah i mean he cleared the i don't know it didn't even clear
the lip it like grazed the lip as it as it came out i mean it was just awesome stuff i loved
it shouldn't be an upset because everybody keeps telling us like trust me like xander's xander's
xander's cool xander's laid back he's like i know people love xander uh but just him and foxy
being like best friends was just it was delightful to watch i loved watching them kind of ham it up
together and clearly had a great time it was it was lovely the blow bys on uh by all accounts
blow bys there by all accounts foxy is the greatest bloke to ever walk the planet i mean
he's the bloke he is to the blokes he's got that that uh suburban
uh garage gym look going just yeah just guys solid man super solid a little bit of a gut but
super solid in the in the shoulders and the arms he does sport we do have whole locations uh i'm
not sure if this will quite uh show up any fun pairings but uh we can look at that as well but
back right whole location on seven like we were expecting in that new part uh of that green that's
the whole location we played and we can can confirm that is indeed a gnarly one
um looks like back middle on 17 front right big time front right on 16 that one's that one's
hidden in there also all the way on the right on 14 is an interesting one all the way back right on
11 uh as well um nothing other not nothing out there two crates front left on four will be
interesting today i thought right on five back to today i thought the pin on 12 was so good back
right and mcginley was was in the booth that he said come on join the squad uh he's doing a great
but he was calling out like this is a no-go it's a suck a pin can't go at this pin and uh you know i
thought that was a turning point i bring it up because i thought it was a turning point in
bryson's round he dumped it in that front bunker that front right bunker and he uh got that up and
down and i feel like that gave him a ton of mo um head heading towards the end of the round i know
this is not possible because he does sky stuff he's like the busiest man ever but well i'm just
voicing what i would like to see torico and mcginley 15 hours a day i that's all that's all
that's right a bunch of on course reporters with bones on course yeah john wood on on course sure
yeah smiley too i think i think that going down yeah anyway we've we've talked about that we can
get to that tomorrow to your point 12th hole today um five total birdies uh and only one in the
afternoon um on 12 on 12 to that back right hole location yeah two guys we haven't talked about i
mean we haven't really gone down the board we maybe we do this when we're doing tea times
um neil you're you're siwu kim distressed that play i know i'm happy happy with that selection
uh talk to me it's a lot of golf shots from siwu but great 67 today can you talk me through that
uh talk me through that
a little bit i mean just a guy that perhaps no bigger no show in the history of major
championships among players that have been just like world-class players uh and what made you
bite this week i mean we're all when we're doing the draft stuff we're all looking at the same
sheet and it's just like it's either him or i go way way down the board and you know like pick
joaquin neiman if i'm randy you know it's like no i'll just take the guy that's had a great season
i know he's had no show but you got to think it's gonna at some point he's gonna show up because
he's getting a lot of look he's getting a lot of reps and he's has a lot of good finishes on
uh you know normal pj tour stops 68 67 67 kind of that uh you know mix of playing styles we're
talking about coming in too when the golf course is super firm guy who doesn't have you know doesn't
bomb it can yeah i contend in a different way so i'd say biggest massive disappointment with cam
cam young i fooled me i'm gonna lose
some nuggies on that one i was feeling real bullish he looked great on the front nine he
looked like between him and burns i felt like both of them every time they cut to the two of them
they look so solid it looked really easy and then he just started driving it kind of erratically i
think he bogeyed 11 and 12 and and then it just kind of got dropped from coverage from there and
it just was not a good day for cam young the guy that i uh like we haven't really talked about him
i think he's a pretty serious dark
horse contender tomorrow is ryan gerrard uh he really didn't have it going today he was one over
through three one over through 12 and then birdie's the 13th one of the best birdies of the
day uh you know he he he laid back off the tee like 220 in made it 20 25 footer birdies 14 and
you know kind of salvages the 69 and he's he's sitting there at seven under
three back and um yeah he's like i just i don't get the sense that ryan gerrard
scared of the moment like i think i don't i have confidence in him to to rise to the occasion
i i agree i feel like this was his his stuck in neutral round you know and like you said he
clearly didn't have it going couldn't get forward momentum but but stayed in it didn't shoot himself
out of it which would have been very easy to do playing the open for the first time in his career
like it would have been easy for this one to to get off the rails and instead fought back and got
it in red numbers great iron player i think it was i think i mean super active similar boat here
doesn't feel looks pretty comfy out there like heads up who i know uh gerrard's got you know at
seven under supers at uh six under but who do you think which side of that you're taking neil
i'm taking super i'm just picking gerrard i'm gonna stick gerrard as well um gerrard in the
liverpool area he's done it hard to beat he's made the impossible possible oh it's a short corner
the odds as of now
per fan duel sam burns is plus 125 siwu plus 500 ryan fox plus 750 uh ryan gerrard plus 1300 like
what a crap what a top four that is uh only major championship only major champion on i believe in
the top 10 right now bryson dechambeau plus 1500 ludvig is 1600 lucas herbert is plus 2000 tommy
fleetwood plus 2200 and scotty plus 2700 suber is plus 3500 officially super got the detective
named on his wikipedia page
um and got a shout out on the world feed today so i did congratulations
congratulations to the whole law enforcement community
uh how about a herbert shot into 17 oh i thought that was legitimately like
i thought that was like a golf ball being hit from another hole or so i was like oh there
clearly isn't his ball there's no way his ball ended up there what a shot man talk about another
guy like i know he's been a pro for a long time he's played a lot of a lot of golf tournaments but
didn't let it get away from him today when it started to get squirrely i mean he's still still
within shouting distance uh again kind of backing up what what seemed like a very just heavy for him
62 yesterday like i think the i think he grasped everything that went into that 62 and it would
have been easy to kind of lay an egg and you know one over is not ideal on this golf course but
could have been three over could have been four over could have been like
not going to see him again but still has a good fighting chance tomorrow tc anything on ludvig
under today kind of snuck in there he woke up yeah i mean the putter's been just atrocious
all week and um most of the week i think you know especially thursday um clean car bogey the first
and then yeah no i mean the ball striking's there it's been he's just exhausting himself trying to
get the ball in the hole i think so um we'll see him and if there's a guy that can go just fire at
him i think he's just going to have a tough time but i think he's just going to have a tough time
i i i'd say ludvig is qualified to do that as anybody um dj any any comment from you on
rasmus near guard peterson sitting yeah we're monitoring this i think for those just joining
the program tc and i have a lifelong bet uh first rasmus to win a major i have rasmus hoikard he has
all other rasmuses uh present and future and so this is you know we haven't had one knocking on
the door for a little while so we'll be have a defcon 2 here yeah we'll be monitoring it i'm not
super worried about it but we'll be monitoring it we'll be monitoring it we'll be monitoring it we'll be
you can hedge it if you want he's 101 to win um if you wanted to sprinkle a little something on
that t times for tomorrow last pairing out ryan fox and sam burns uh 210 is ryan gerrard and siwu
kim uh two o'clock ludwig oberg and lucas herbert uh 150 jackson suber bryson de chambeau uh tommy
and rasmus dear guard peterson will be at 140 eric cole
xander shoffley at 130 hideki kazuma kibori sneaky sneaky great little spot for kazuma kibori
there at four under par um cameron john i'm not gonna lie that is the first time i've ever heard
that name not just uh i did not realize he was four under par uh in this tournament there was
one point in the tournament cam smith cameron john jordan smith and jordan spieth were all like
in the same area and it was just really playing with my brain rom and lowry we planned together uh
but jose luis bias biester is playing with scotty scheffler tomorrow max homa had a nice day today
he's at three under par he'll be with alex smalley tomorrow um cam young and big shot bob
mcintyre are playing together at 1205 uh jordan smith will be with rory mcelroy a little
disappointing uh kind of continuing uh tournament here for colin morikow after a really good start
he's at two under he'll be at 11 20 with francesco molinari who would be uh who would be uh who would
be uh who's your guys's ideal kind of storyline tomorrow what's your preferred your preferred
outcome if you if you had one and let's say maybe we keep it five under or or better
not like rory shoots 56 i feel like you almost gotta take can we keep this yeah can we do the
second can we do our second yeah everybody's on the same page it's tommy right that's the
best thing that can can happen what's yeah what's after that neil i'll throw it to you first
um burns holds off a charging bryson by one stroke and then we get all the discourse around how
bryson should have won that's what you don't want that no i think that's sick i want that it's good
for ratings i think it's it's it's i want that yeah because i'd like yeah i would like to see
sam burns get it done tomorrow i think i'm in the same boat yeah i think i'm rooting for you
if you're eliminating like a a great final round 62 from like the end of the season
scotty or cam young or you know bryson would that be super interesting if you did something
like that rom doing that like would be a really interesting uh final round then yeah i want i
want burn to get one i think jackson's super winning to his first time like ever playing
lynx golf would also be just a you know not quite a ben curtis level wrinkle uh but like
that maybe because he kind of looks like ben curtis that was the first thing that popped into
my head uh yeah listen ben curtis people think that's a slight ben curtis had a had a nice career
he did
but at that moment i think he was after 396 in the world uh he's from australia ohio um like i
we we knew ben curtis in in ohio and like that that was a transformative uh sporting event in
my childhood of like a somebody a massive massive long shot can win the game's oldest championship
and like that like it illustrated the beauty of this championship is is that'd be really cool if
super did it i mean it wouldn't be like ratings galore and probably the most popular story in the
certainly monitoring um i mean you know setting aside tommy ludwig going nuts would be awesome
i think i'm gonna say foxy i think you're just having a having a you have to say foxy tc
having a proper bloke yeah he's he's a dude like having a dude win it but i'd be fine with sam
burns i'd be fine with ryan gerard before with siwu like i like i'm i'm just i'm excited i just
hope we get good action tomorrow that's that's what i'm rooting for yeah i'm i'm i'm prepared to
be entertained tomorrow like i'm there's no storyline that you know other than i'll obviously
be rooting for tommy but there's nothing like there's nothing that uh i'm bound to in any way
if sam burns blows up yeah okay all right well something else crazy is going to happen like
sometimes you go in with like this needs to follow the script or this is going to get really ugly
tomorrow's just give me the chaos like i think it uh it's gonna be any wrinkles with the with
the forecast tomorrow with the weather
or is it looks like stronger wind uh as of the last official forecast that was on uh the media
site
for the open um looked like just a little slightly slightly stronger wind in the afternoon
um than we've seen so far again nothing like crazy dramatic but um i can get you the exact
oh we have that here there we go um looks like around two o'clock local time or i guess noon
local time uh 10 to 5 to 10 miles an hour gusts up to 14 uh two o'clock uh out of the northwest
10 to 15 gusts up to 18 and then by four o'clock uh 12 to 18 gusts up to 24 uh and gusts up to 22
continuing all the way up until six o'clock so that's that's the strongest we've seen um
and and and we've seen with burkedale like it doesn't need a ton of wind for it to have an
effect so um again if i'm watching the water off one of those early guys man like it's
there could still be a low number out there in the morning i and i i think if that happens
i would recommend
any of you listening or watching i get really upset about it like i would let that ruin my
sunday morning if i wake up and somebody is really deep in the red like i would just get
worked up about it i think that's a really good use of your energy i i dig that vibe it's really
fun it's all i i i waste my energy on far more trivial matters really what like how much how
much water they're applying to the greens uh tc foxy's never had a top 10 at a major
i think i might be i might be rooting for it tomorrow i could it would be it'd be awesome it
would be sick then solidly solidly in shambles tomorrow night there is something there's
something cool about like we say this all the time we've been on such a run of just heavyweights
winning majors that it's like 20 yeah 2026 remember what like aaron ryan foxy won those
two majors like that's it's a cool blip in uh in the history of our sport so yeah i don't know
that would be fun too a lot of bad options tomorrow
weird major year we do have some setup notes for tomorrow they will be moving to an up t on four
with the front left hole location on that par three it'll be playing 183 yards they'll be
returning to the championship t on the seventh hole playing 154 yards to that back right hole
location uh 15 will be playing back as well uh this will be stretched out to the full 241 yards
to the back left hole location so we saw back t today to the up pin on 15 but they'll be going
with the northwest winds do i have that right it'll be off the left off the left yeah um that'll
be that'll be a tough hole tomorrow i think that that will definitely play as one of the
more challenging ones i feel like foxy already feels like he won this week because the all blacks
beat beat ireland this morning and and he came out on the right side of that bet everything else is
gravy i can't believe i i forgot this on first blush when you're doing tea times but it was also
wasn't it sam burns and foxy buzz that's right when foxy got the plaque put in i mean he already
you know tvc toronto tvc parkdale he's done it before he's done it before yeah tc any comment
on p yeah um be pretty disappointed both p uh alex fitzpatrick just laid a fucking egg today too
that that one stunk bud collie laid an egg today uh just some guys i was expecting more from but
he was he had him right where he wanted me bogeyed the bogey the first hole birdie three out of his
next four and i'm like all right we're cooking he's cooking meanwhile foxy's doing his thing and
and you know guys are going low and then yeah pete just too many bogeys today man he had five
bogeys today and uh just just not greasy enough his putting wasn't good lost shots putting he
wasn't good off the tee i thought i thought off the tee but he was good off the tee and he was good
off the tee it was going to be more of an advantage for him this week of like just shaping
it and being kind of mediocre like it was going to be more of a you know hey this is an iron
player's golf course um and like his iron play has been fine but overall the putting's been
absent so hate it hate it we're losing we're losing tc's voice with all the screaming he's
done uh tommy i think we have a update for our leaderboard for this week again remember all
you're trying to do is outrun the bear on this one you just don't want to finish fifth
very interesting you gotta do a get ready with me video uh fifth place currently is big randy
the only two players make the cut scotty and got her up a lot of a lot of state a lot of stock in
in scotty's round tomorrow's got her up went backwards today he's in a tie for 50th uh so
randy's in fifth dj's eking it out into fourth it's a zander versus scotty thing tomorrow that
is gonna be an interesting match uh to watch for this tc not in the clear he's not in the clear
be
randy or me i mean i'm only 60 grand ahead of randy he's got two players i have four players
i got p bobby mac bitchy bob uh alex fitzpatrick and and russell henley
so i spot in it i'd rather be one of the guys in the top two right neil uh right me i'm at 1.3
mil neil at 1.8 with siwu carrying a lot of that i will say yeah um yeah but still you know spot this
good spot this yeah i don't love where i'm at with basically putting min woolly and scotty and kind of
a heads up tomorrow is not doesn't make me feel doesn't make me feel great but you know we're not
out of it yet cody we're all right we're still we're fighting another day i honestly thought
we were done yesterday so for sure i thought it was like oh my goodness there's life we're i was
already over here i was planning with the girls like they're you know they're gonna help me uh
everybody's excited in this we're gonna outsource the get ready with me to cody
no no i mean i hadn't been discussed at all i dj dj will do it for sure but i of course am a part of
this uh this coalition and i will stand the ground with him i threw it out that you can opt out
potentially out of the get ready with me video if but you have to watch the will ferrell golf
series and report back to everyone on it like you have to watch it in totality and report back
the hawk
i don't know what's actually i think it's called the hawk yeah uh real quick i want to give shout
out to somebody who is right around that two over usually you know when we're talking about people
who are two over like oh that stinks this is a rare occasion marcus plunkett west point grad uh
former transpo officer in the united states army first major ever sitting in there made the cut
gonna make a check basically i'm pretty sure he has zero status anywhere right now so uh good
on him i'm kind of ashamed that it took us this far to to shout it out but yeah there we go
um just look we'll do our this or that audit uh tomorrow here i'm just i'll highlight some of the
some of the worst we've seen of it so far dj is the only one that took minwoo lee over joaquin
neiman uh compared to everyone else um we did all take ryan gerrard over jake knapp feel good a lot
better about that one uh that feels good
um big shot bob versus the top 10 is certainly one that we'll need to follow uh into tomorrow
as well but uh what's bob at t20 t23 under okay yeah yeah it's exactly the man the guy's making
these lines the kind of round that he he goes out and he pins his ears back and then he has a late
bird has a late bogey trashes the place and then goes back to oban should we linger or loiter and
get our winter picks and get
out of here sure yeah um sam burns loitering loitering yeah has to be i keep showing up man
ryan fox yeah foxy was looting this morning yeah
yeah you know god are we concerned at all about the amount of downtime that oxy's lingering
yeah lingering i think it's no i think foxy probably had a couple beers this afternoon
top 10
exactly playing in the final group i think he's lingering plus he plays so fast like i don't know
if he i think that could come into play for him tomorrow i desperately desperately want him to be
loitering and it's it's i'm gonna believe in it i'm gonna believe that he's loitering i think he's
gonna make it interesting tomorrow but uh he just he hasn't before is all i would say ever
uh lingering i will say lingering
say loitering see woo
i i want a scar tissue man i think he's lingering like i think he's lingering too
i want you to be a bad boy so bad i do too i do too all all these guys i'm rooting for these guys
but we gotta you know we gotta pick some see wound gerard's gonna be so vibey tomorrow too
we're gonna see three shots from that group yeah it might be i take that under yeah t shot on one
tap it on 18 yeah i'm playing through uh
gerard i'm gonna say loitering yeah i'm with you
herbert i think he's lingering yeah i think the the like i i give him credit for keeping
on the rails this afternoon but he uh i think he he used up a lot of energy getting it in the house
for that 62 on friday keep a few good few good they could they could go the opposite way and
could have been a big number broken it's a big number it's a big number it's a big number it's a
par one time this week, and it was
the only time that the getting was good.
that was friday morning i'll say i'll say loitering just for for the sake of argument
i'm just trying to engender uh sympathy from the live bots i think it's for sure
ripper ripper gc nice he's listen guys won before he's won on tour he's won the dp world tour
three or four times i think he's you know he knows if he if he catches the scent he
he's done it before ludwig launching i think lingering i think lingering for just fool me
fool me a couple times hope again i hope it's not hope he hope i hope they all win but uh i'm
gonna say lingering i'll say loitering oh oh you're just trying to this is political you're
trying to he's on my team he's on my team back into good graces i get to enjoy the heck out of
tommy and ludwig this week right i'm running them straight to the top welcome thank you uh bryson
lord's a leaping miming performing uh yeah loitering man yeah he's got the he's got the
firepower yeah leveraging and the grit i mean truly like kind of didn't seem to have it today
and he manufactured a round to keep himself in it i'd say loitering i don't know
i am gonna say lingering i feel like we've we've
seen him seen him waver 100 par today was not that great of a round i think i think it uh yeah
i'm gonna say lingering jackson super loitering or leaving uh lingering bogeys today i think he's
on borrowed time yeah i need to get our guy like uh an ivy or something like that felt like he's
he's limping in the house come god he's gonna have he's gonna have a front row seat tomorrow
playing with bryson that's that's an
interesting parent that's a full that's a two-shot penalty that was a weird take that was a weird
take yeah yeah i don't know about that one welcome to the show brother last two rasmus near guard
peterson truly who could say yeah uh lingering lingering here i hope so tell me do we need to
do tommy no one's ever been loitering more more than i think tommy could be lurching like yeah
doing something very suddenly and then but not consistently so are you ready for tomorrow
right around lurch tc are you ready for tomorrow night yeah whatever comes comes what may um you

Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The tournament featured a mix of high-energy performances and a somewhat flat midday round, with Sam Burns and Foxy (Bryson DeChambeau) standing out for their aggressive play and low scores.
The course held up well despite wind, with rough conditions being less penalizing than typical, which contributed to lower scores and made it harder to distinguish between players’ performances.
Commentary highlighted the contrast between players’ behaviors—Foxy’s showmanship, Tommy’s emotional engagement, and Sam Burns’ consistent, disciplined play—while criticizing the media’s handling of rule violations, particularly Bryson’s controversial backswing incident.
