The podcast hosts, Specky and Paul, discuss recent car and detailing news. A major topic is the cancellation of Waxstock 2024, confirmed by organizer PJ of Dojo Juice. While disappointed, they understand the logistical challenges and hope for its return next year. They consider organizing their own small car gathering to maintain community connections. The conversation shifts to automotive design trends, highlighting manufacturers like Renault and Lotus that are reviving classic models (Renault 5, Lotus Esprit) with modern electric or restomod updates. They criticize Ford for misusing the Capri name on a dissimilar vehicle. The hosts also reflect on the increasing size of new cars, such as the VW ID.7, and the difficulty of parking them in older, narrow spaces. They share personal experiences with hybrid and electric vehicles, noting the smoothness of electric drivetrains but missing traditional engine sounds. The episode ends with humorous anecdotes about tight parking and the challenges of modern car dimensions.
Hello and welcome back to the Specky and Paul Talk detailing podcast. We are the TikTok and YouTube of the UK detailing community. This is season 6 episode 7. It never rains but it pours. My name is Specky McSpoirer and I'm joined by Donald Trump's hair stylist, Mr. Paul Dolden. Brood, topical, love it. How many have you ever seen? Yes, I have. It's horrendous. It's like Donald Duck. It's shocking. We don't want to talk about politics. It's very, very bad at the moment. Don't even get me started on that. Welcome back to the illustrious podcast. You're lucky I'm awake. I've been having some sleep in between work. We'll talk about that in a moment. Basically if I go off on like a bit of a rant and there's a gap and you hear Paul not talking, that's because he's just waking up after I make him nod off. Just nipped outside and just continued polishing. It's funny. You sent me a voice message today. I was double checking with you to see if you're still okay for today and you sent me about this voice message and I just thought Jesus Christ, this man sounds like he's on death's door as far as like being able to stay awake. You must have been using matchsticks to keep your eyes open because the way that message came across, you sounded absolutely wrecked. It wasn't very enthusiastic. Yeah, I've been rather busy and very, very busy. In fact, we're going to talk about it in the news in a moment. But yes, it's been, well, hence the topic of the conversation we're going to be having in the podcast about never, never rains at pause. He's gushing at the moment and not in a good way. Sorry. I don't know what happened there. I just came out literally. And this is the thing. It's a bit early for that, isn't it? When people ask us like, how do you guys come up with this stuff? Do you ever write scripts for yourself? No, it's just all blerts out of Paul's mouth. You couldn't make this shit up. Even if you tried to write it, you could go on there. Oh, dear God. Well, first piece of news is actually an important piece. I mean, use for those of you who really care about car care and detailing and you're into the scene as a social situation. We had an update from PJ from Dojo Juice who runs Waxstock. And lots of people were messaging me recently asking, is there going to be a Waxstock this year? Do we know if it's happening? And honestly, it was all kind of radio silence from PJ for a long time. And he finally came out with a video and basically said, here's the story. So basically, there's not going to be a Waxstock this year, but he's not giving up on it. So it was a kind of a bittersweet message, you know, that it wasn't happening. And we kind of, well, I kind of expected this was going to happen anyway. But knowing what PJ's got going on in his life, I also completely understand it. So I'm not going to give him a hard time for it or anything. But he said, um, he still fully believes in Waxstock. He wants it to come back bigger and better. So it is going to come back in the future. Hopefully next year, we'll see what happens in the industry and see what kind of things people are saying. But I'm really crossing my fingers because I saw this and it was sent to me by about six or seven different people on Instagram. All as soon as it came out, they were immediately pinging me with this update. So I get what's going on. I get that lots of people want it. And I said to my wife, yeah, it's, it's definitely not happening this year. And I'm gutted because it's the one opportunity I get every year to go and meet up with my friends. And it's really sad that it's not happening. But I also said to Paul afterwards, I said, we're going to have to do something. We're going to have to get together. I think we're going to have to get like a car show on the go. We're going to an Airbnb. We'll get a couple of us lads together at the very least two of us. Maybe a few others, maybe get Adrian, maybe get dad and maybe get Vicky to come over. Who knows? I will all just have a, you know, just a car car show we can do for ourselves instead. So, um, I said that and everyone else went, yeah. Maybe, yeah. Who knows? Who knows? Maybe. So I'm like, all right, screw you guys. It's difficult, isn't it? The logistics of it. People are really, really busy. That's it. That is the hardest thing I've booked. And we're not teenagers anymore that can just do things on a whim. You know, got lives on from them. Coming to the park. No, I'm busy. Yeah. Polish in the car, mate. I really think I'm doing it. Yeah. So that's that's that piece of news. I'm kind of like, I say, I'm sad for that, but I understand why it's all. It was kind of expecting. I think this is like late in the day. Yeah. As late in the year. Because these things take a huge amount of organization skills. The, we kind of expected it. And it's a huge commitment from brands and every individual that are going in. They come back stronger and bigger and better next year. Yeah. We wait. And if we get any updates, we'll let everyone know. Absolutely. Yeah. We think with beta breath, and if it happens, you can guarantee we're going to be there. And, you know, it's funny because people have been asking me at work. And they always ask me every year, are you doing any shows this year? I've stopped going to the West End doing that sort of thing. Apparently, I can't sing. So. But your legs are amazing. Yes. Since I've shaved them. People ask me that. And I, years ago, I obviously used to do stuff with data as passions. I mean, this is a long time ago with Jamie. And it stopped. We, he's got his own business with Aqua Detail doing yachts. So that kind of fizzled out. And then I started doing my own stuff with cars. So I haven't really done any shows. Apart from Wax Dog. Cars and coffee events are very early on the Sunday mornings. I don't really go to those new morgues. I'm always in bed from work. And I'm very busy with other stuff at the moment. So, yeah, it will be nice to do it. And maybe some other stuff next year. We'll see. So it happens. Yeah, absolutely. Another interesting thing in the world of cars, which I found quite cool, actually. There's a lot of, well, there's a few car companies coming out with cars, which are harking back to older models. Oh, I think I thought, I hope this is the car you're going to talk about. Well, I don't know. Let's find out. Okay. So, I made a mind sent me today. It was a, a RESTO mod, essentially, of the old Lotus Esprit. Yeah, remember the one using James Bond car. So this company has basically done like a sort of modern interpretation of it. They've kept the body pretty much the same. But it's got updated things. And I believe it's got a 3.5 liter V8 turbo engine. And it just looks amazing. Like, I love the fact that they have not messed with the body at all. Because the body was all, it was already a pretty car anyway. So I found that good. But I found it interesting from a sort of bigger manufacturer perspective as well. You've got companies like Renault bringing out the new Renault V, which obviously the Renault V was a compact car from many, many years ago. So they've reintroduced it as an electric car. And I have to admit, it looks good. It does actually. I actually quite like it. I like it. I think so. I mean, fairly iconic. Yes, exactly. I mean, I think they haven't, they haven't gone to normal route. They've gone, they've gone a little bit retro, but they've made it modern. But they've made it sort of a car you can remember, rather than just being a typical Tesla jelly mold. No, that's a few little tweaks on it. Yeah, they're not doing a forward thing. And just like resurrecting the name, the resurrecting the design language that was behind the original Renault V in the first place. So it's unmistakably a Renault V, but it's a modern twist on it, which is really nice to see. So I like that they've done that. And, you know, I've seen a few other kind of concepts, but they're doing this. They're also bringing out a new fully electric Renault Twingo. It's going to be out soon as well. And again, it's undeniably a Twingo, but it's going to be smaller. It's going to be aiming for the cheaper market instead of going for upmarket electric vehicles all the time. They're going for what people actually need. So I find that really cool. So I saw a thing an article that came up on Reddit, I think. And it's about Citroen, possibly doing the same thing with the two CV. Oh, come on, really. Now, listen, if there are pictures out there just now, and I don't know if this is something that someone else has come up with, or if this is Citroen's idea for how, you know, if this is like a pre-production thing, maybe it's all AI generated, I don't know. But I'm telling you now, if you go and look up,
Or I might be able to send you the picture at some point. Look up the picture for the Citroen 2 CV electric. I honestly, I love it. I'm genuinely loving this. Again, it's one of those situations where you will 100% see that this is based on the original 2 CV, but obviously it's bigger. Isn't it funky with the wide arches? Instead of using alloy wheels, it uses larger steel wheels. It's kind of flatter design, which is again closer to the original instead of putting fancy big alloy wheels and things on there. It looks wicked. So I'm loving the idea of this. I think they're trying to capitalize on the popularity of the Renault 5 and basically saying we could resurrect this. This is the thing that I wanted Ford to do before they made the monstrosity of a car that they called a Capri. If they had just come up with something that was embodying the original design but made it electric. I guarantee you they would be sell, they wouldn't be able to keep up with production because people would buy them. But instead they just went, we'll just use a name and ignore everything else. They really did put their foot right in it with that. I really don't understand the design team because retro stuff is always going to come back because people always look back, don't they? They look back on their romantic stuff. I know there's a company that are doing the XK120 and they're putting the EV motor in it, but it looks exactly like XK120. Jack, so it's incredible. I can't get wide of done it. I'm not a big believer in it, but I understand what I've done. The same with the Renault 5, it would be nice to have an option of maybe a hybrid, self-charging hybrid rather than just a fully V or maybe a V8 option, you know, some killer features. You know, like here, okay, here. So this is a weird thing that I discovered that I wanted recently. So last week, where we had the local holidays here, the Easter holidays, and we took some time out to go and visit my sister, Dylan and Helen's brother. And so this is the first time I've really taken our our cana hybrid on a properly long drive. And it was great. Don't give it wrong. It was absolutely fantastic. It's a lovely car. It munches miles brilliantly. It's quite economical. I'm a big fan of it. But I found myself getting annoyed for two reasons about that car. One of them was that every time the engine kicks in, you don't really notice it. Like it's seamless. The way it starts the engine when you run low on battery. It's seamless. You can't tell that it's turned on. The only time it's been switched on, the only time you'll notice is if you need to speed up a bit because it's not a particularly powerful petrol engine in it, it likes to rev a bit higher. So then when you're you're doing 65 on the on the Joe carriageway and you want to speed up to 70, it drops a gear and it revs a bit higher than you normally would in in any other car. But again, it's revving to what is like the peak efficiency for the engine. So I get that. So one thing I thought to myself was sometimes I just wish this was fully electric. And I didn't think I would ever, ever say that because I've never driven, well that's a lie. I have driven a fully electric car, but only like round a couple of residential streets. My auntie owns a Nissan leaf. And that was nice. Sorry about that. It works great for her. She's chuffed a bit. She's over them. That's the car that looks like it's going backwards, doesn't it? The front, the front that's locked the back and the back looks like the front. You just think that's odd. I do question the design of the leaf. It's never been a particularly pretty car. But I think all of the cars that were either fully electric or hybrid that were made at that time. None of them really had any nice design about them. It's like they all said, let's just make this a low effort. Who cares? Because people care more about the the drive train than the looks. And then that's all changed. You move on just, you know, five, 10 years down the line. And suddenly they're like, no, actually people do care about what the design looks like. Because the leaf is ugly. The original Prius was ugly. You know, all of those kind of early hybrid cars and early electric cars were pretty damn ugly. There were never really any pretty ones. So anyway, I've never really driven like I say, for any kind of distance, a full electric car. But I thought to myself, I would love it if my icon I was just fully electric and just be even smoother and quieter. My old mini bus at the old company I used to work for. They had a fully electric mini bus that I drove it exclusively for two years when I was working with them. And I loved it. I genuinely loved it. I didn't love the fact that it had a low range because the bus was so heavy. But when I was driving it around Aberdeen, I was abs. I just adored it. I thought it was great. No gear box to worry about. You're not using your brakes much because you're using the regen braking. There's no engine noise. It just sounded like a milk float. Yeah, I kind of get I suppose I get it in a way. But I do like the the I like the engine noise of anything really to be honest with you. But I suppose as you get older and it doesn't really bother you. But there's always going to be that side of this going to want, you know, that rumble from an engine. I sat in a ID seven last night. Oh, yes. That's a big car. There's a big car. I mean, yeah, I've actually got it as a job as a detailed job. So I sat in it and I was quite impressed by the layout for one thing. VW design, really good quality plastics and all the rest of it. And they'll get to look the same after a while. A very central screen, a great big screen in the middle. The guy at work said, it's got a bit of a party trick. He said, wait for this. And he pressed the button and you had the massage in seats. I just clever. That's some clever stuff. So this is what it was. You weren't actually polishing the car. You just sat there and had a massage for four hours. Did you? I went to went to price it up. And I think I might have put him off anyway using because I went down to my pants because I'm enjoying so much. And he said, you're going to have to stop that. I didn't really. I took him off. Put it on speed 10. Where's the tissues? No, it was really impressed. I mean, but one thing I really blew my mind is the size of these cars. They are huge. Oh, they're big. Yeah. So the boot in my skoda, I've got a scooter space back. They call it a space back. So it's in between in the state or an event and a hatchback. It's odd. Yeah, it's a very very back or something, isn't it? Is that not where it gets you? It's called a space back. You also called it a rapid last time as well. Yeah, but it is actually called a space back. It's called a space back because the people that buy are in all these space down drugs because they would buy one anyway. Including myself. It's got a huge boom. And he opened up the tailgate and his car and I was like, oh my god, like that is huge. And then there's two little levers. And all it does is just flicks the seats forward just like that. There's another this like getting in there, reaching over, pulling a lever. He just took two little buns and he's just went forward and it's vast. He could put like a bloody great wardrobe in it. And the anything I said to him was, well, so it's a lovely looking car in regards to data. I mean, because it's got these lovely curved lines. So it's going to be quite reasonably easy to polish. But I feel that you part that in a standard gap in a car park. That's not going to look like that for long, is it? Yes. I think we're getting bigger cars, but we're not getting bigger car parks. I said that. I said that to Natalie when we were away, didn't he? And I said to her, you know, like the arcana is not exactly a big car. It's big compared to super many things, but it's small compared to some other cars. And yeah, I was thinking to myself, this is this is starting to push it. We're seeing cars, car park car park in spaces are when you spot a gap, it's usually when you're in a multi-story car park. And it's, you know, as my father used to say, every time we pulled into a multi-story, he'd shout to everyone else in the car, ice peeled for a space. And that's what you did. All everyone is looking around, you know, all angles trying to find a space and then someone goes, Oh, over there. But you see a space from a distance and you go, that'll do me nicely. You drive up to it and you realize, shit, that's going to be tight. That's going to be ridiculously tight. And I, yeah, I do worry about that because you're absolutely right. We've got a lot of car parks in this country, which are old and they're not being changed. No one is going around and changing the width of the parking spaces, the width of the lanes between them, because they're trying to squeeze in as many as they can. But squeezing is the operative word. I mean, I remember my father used to do it years ago when we had an old Mark III escort. And he would say to my mother. I'll you jump out.
so that I've got more space on this side. And that's back in the 80s, you know, and some car parks were still tight then, you know, and now it's different. Now it's, we've got the basically the same size of spaces that we had in the 80s, when cars were like half the size, when a Fiesta really was a small car, when a Mini was a dinky car. And now all these cars, you look at the latest Minis and the range of Minis it has. They're freaking huge. - Oh no, they're vast. - Especially the countryman, the countryman is a hideous, it's a hideous looking car. It's gross. - It's horrible. - It's not my cup of tea either. - It just looks like a fat kid. - It's horrible. (laughing) - I'm sorry, it does. It's got piggy eyes. It's not really nice looking. It just looks like the marshmallow man from Ghostbusters with four wheels. - Oh, don't get me started on the knees. I saw a straight top. - You get to the car park. - Oh, go on, go on. - Yes, that's the car park. - Go on. - Go on. - They shut a car park down in Colchester. They got it the wrong way around. They should have shut down Colchester and kept the car park with a shithole. Horrible place. By root. It's dreadful. They shut this car park down. Probably could lack of interest. No, you wanted to go in there. And when you went up, the first thing I used to say was, "Pilla, can't park there. "Pilla, can't park there. "Pilla, can't park there." Eventually, we got, no, we're gonna, the film's starting in 10 minutes. Come on, this is Bulley, it's only 20 seconds to go there. Watch a film. It's like, it's a bullying. And then you've got to climb over the gear stick and the handbrake and get out the other side. Meanwhile, you've parked two meters away from the other pillar and your wife's open the door and just gone, "Bank, oh, sorry. "That's all right, don't worry. "That's all right, I'm a detail. "I can do that." - Well, that is court that my father had. That thing eventually had to go because of a pillar. It was a pillar problem. We were parked in a car park in Aberdeen. We'd all gone in as a family and my father chose this pillar space for some reason. Didn't think anything of it. And then as he was reversing out, he put the left hand down to swing it out a little bit, completely forgot that the pillar was on the right there and the whole front right wing just punch right into this pillar. It just panned it right in. So that's when he said, "Okay, time for a new car." And so we took that to a dealer in Aberdeen who the car that he chose, he'd gone from a Mark III five-door escort with no rear seat belts 'cause that was the time. And we drove to this place and he said, "Ooh, this looks lovely." - Come on. - Thinking back now, it probably wasn't really the best car. It was an Austin Maestro. (laughing) - Oh, it's different by time. - I like it. (laughing) - Lovely. Yeah, those-- - Austin Maestro was Austin and lovely. (laughing) Never, never in the same sentence. - Never. It was a silver Austin Maestro Mayfair. And he actually-- - Shoes. - I tell you what, say a lot, say what you want about my father. He's got some bizarre taste in cars. He really liked this car. He was chuffed to bits. It was a dereg. And he thought that he was just the bee's knees. He really was. He said, "Hey, look at this thing, isn't it lovely?" And he genuinely liked that car until it basically was rotted out from underneath them. So anyway, that was that. Right, the second thing that annoyed me about the arcana, going back to this, I'll get back there, is modern safety features and modern convenience features. Some of them-- - Oh, don't get me on them. - At least one of them bugged me. This is what happened was what I noticed when we were coming back up to Aberdeen, sure from Helen's, but we were on the A90 and the A90 from Perth to Aberdeen is basically entirely covered in average speed cameras. So you sit at an indicated 73 miles an hour, which means you're pretty much bang on the speed limit and everyone's doing the same thing. And everyone pretty much these days, modern cars, you've all got cruise control, brilliant, no problem, everyone is sitting at their speed. But my car has adaptive cruise control. So it knows when there's a car in front of it. So when I set my cruise control for 73 miles an hour and I'm cruising along, if I come up behind somebody else who's in the left lane and is doing 65, my car will automatically slow down and match their speed and it will hold the gap. And there's a button on the steering wheel, you can change how close you want the car to be. So you can change the distance. It's good. Very, very good. But I found an issue with it and that was, when I come up along behind somebody in there, maybe they're doing 72 and I'm doing 73. I can't really floor it to get past them 'cause obviously my average speed could be careful. So you indicate and when you indicate, the car goes, okay, you're passing this person. So I'll sit back up again. So it speeds up. So then as you're passing that person, the car that's in front of them decides to pass the car that's in front of that one, when they pull out into your lane, you get slowed down again. You know, so I ended up in this situation where there was these two SUVs, there was like a Volkswagen Tiguan and then some sort of like a Honda CRV or something and they looked like they were traveling together. So they were just the two of them the whole time. One of them wasn't passing the other one. When the one in front pulled out, the one behind would do the same thing and they would do the same maneuver and they were just constantly doing the same thing, sticking together. And every time I was nudging to go and pass them, they would see the gap that my car is holding and think, oh, I'll just get into that gap. That's no problem. So then as soon as they pull out, my car goes, oh, I don't, there's somebody here. I go slow down again. And I just thought, I'm never gonna get past these, I can't say the word, but, (laughing) I can't get past these. Get past these James Hans. These buggers that they are, oh, and honestly, I was getting really annoyed as I said to the wife, this is the drawback. I can't set cruise control without the adaptive situation. It's only adaptive cruise control. So it controls what I do. So if someone pulls out the only thing I can do is to turn it off and use the throttle myself. But I was also getting kind of lazy 'cause I was like, I'm loving this. I don't have to touch the pedals at all. If it wants to slow down, it will break and slow down. If it wants to speed up, it will throttle up and it will. They do, they're self-driving pretty much. It almost is. The only thing you have to do is steer. And then you've got the sensors all around so that if you've got someone in your blind spot, you've got little light comes up on the mirror to show you someone's in your blind spot. I tell you, one of the really good things is it uses those sensors for when you're reversing out of a parking space. So if you've got crossing traffic coming behind your car when you're trying to reverse out of a space, it blinks both the mirrors out, you'll let you know there's a car coming, which is actually very, very good. So I will admit there are some really, really good functions but some of it just annoys me because it's almost like, I felt like the people in these two SUVs, they kind of knew my car was adaptive or they thought I was a pussy 'cause I was never really pushing up enough and they were like, well, I'm just coming in. I'll just overtake here. It's okay that you're, you know, three car legs behind. I'll just manage to get in there. They would never just be sitting there for the wheel and let me cruise by carefully. No, no, no, they had to pull out which is my car kept saying, oh, steady on here. So that annoyed me. That was a real pain in the arse that was. - Yeah, so I don't have this luxury of having all these fancy toys 'cause I've got the pensioner spec, Scoda, where electric windows are pure luxury. I literally got nothing. The only thing I've got is probably DEF CON-5 which is called third gear and it's get passed. So he's (beep) (laughing) Just red line of shit out of it. (laughing) So yeah, 'cause I just hate people to hold me up but I have lunch 'cause I've obviously been nicked for speeding and the average speed camera thing is, it's one of those things. It's settling, pussy music on. You get there when you get there. It is annoying, but there's nothing you can do about it. - I tell you what, that speed awareness course has really worked wonders for you, isn't it? - It has, yeah, yeah. 'Cause every time there's no cameras are driving like an absolute nut job. (laughing) Right, that's it. Why did that sort of time? (laughing) I mean, 71, sir. - Do you know, my car will only do like 104 max? Because you mean on private land? - If you were to, yes. If I were to take it somewhere. - Yes. - I think it's published top speed is only like 104 because it's the way it's geared. So it's basically tough. Yeah, like, this is not a speedy car. Don't worry about it, it's not a speedy car. Interesting that. Also, a little bit of fragrance news. I spoke to our lovely friend, Steve Gorman, who had asked for the recommendation for the, if you'll remember, it was the links Africa mixed with a bit of garage therapy citrus. And I selected this, this, oh, I forget what is Icarus. No, I don't know. - Can't wait. - Can't remember what the hell it's called. Now it's gone right out of my head. Nevermind, doesn't matter. Anyway, he sent me a message. First of all, he said, wait a minute. Paul said to me, Paul said that I'm hogging the limelight. Excuse me, how many years have you been doing this podcast? (laughing) Fair play to you there, Steve, fair play. But he said, just to let you know the review wise, it's a really good fragrance. And the ladies in the office have definitely,
appreciated it. So you're welcome. You're welcome for that one. I did get myself more fragrances as usual. I will say if you ever go into a shop and you smell this fragrance, I swear it's one of my all time favorites, but the name annoys me because it's so long. Why do fragrance companies do this? Sometimes they have just a ridiculous long name. So the name of this fragrance, I've absolutely in love with is Valentino Womo, born in Roma, coral fantasy. Who the hell has time in their day to when someone says to you, "Hey, you smell really nice, what are you waiting?" I haven't got the time. I haven't got the time to say all that thing. Okay, I'll get my words mixed up and you would never get it right, Paul, because you can't even say ADBL or anything. So well, I can't because I just ordered some. Well, that's just because you can type it in or to correct. What I bought was a dupe of that fragrance, which is called Latafa Jassur and instead of spending 80 quid on coral fantasy, you can spend 25 quid and get Latafa Jassur and it is guaranteed exactly the same beautiful, beautiful fragrance. So a big, big, big fan of that one. Anyway, right, that's all the news I have now this episode. We said it never rains, but it pours. This is your idea, Paul. So I mean, just I don't know anything about this. You literally gave me a topic name and nothing else. It needed to be. So I'm exterious. Now it's something that's happened very very. Guys, how do you make such a successful podcast? Pure luck! Roller the dice. It's just a podcast lottery. This has come about because in the last few weeks, I've become exceptionally busy with cars. So much so that I literally don't know which way to turn. So at the moment on the drive, there is a 330D. If you follow me on Instagram, you'll just send it. This happens to be a friend at work, Jared. Jared, if you're listening, very keen fisherman. He's quite big in the fishing world in Anglin. He's actually sponsored. So he does a lot of the carp fishing. What is that? Boilies and yeah, yeah, he's sponsored fishermen. So Andy's a vlogger. He's got a YouTube channel as well. So it's got this 330D. It's coming up for sale. So he wanted me to sort it out. So I recently had that in. It's going into us probably about two and a half days. I think I'll be on it. It's going to get finished tomorrow. It's going to get a coat in put on it. Mumplepull stays polished. Jim with this car, which I'll talk about a polish in a moment. And also my neighbour, the road has got a Porsche. He's come back from his holiday. He wants me to sort his car out. My neighbour to the right of me. I'll just sort of think, see which way I'm turning. Yep, to the right. I've got a little voxel. Is it a gillia? A gillia? Yeah, it's only the whole thing, aren't they? Really, really small. That's in for a deep clean inside of out. But the one in our car, that is. Well, it is. Yes, there are. They're all, they're elderly. Okay. That's all over that. Yeah. Is a pensioner car. You're right. It looks like it's been squished in a vice. It looks like it's just been cramped. It depends which model it is because the old gila, like the, I think the very first gila that ever came out wasn't actually a voxel at all. It was a Suzuki. Oh, it was a really. Yeah. It's like the postman, postman, Pat one. Yeah, it looked like a little tiny van almost. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I remember that. Yeah. The original gila was, it was a Suzuki wagon R that was basically rebodged as a voxel gila. Yes. Right. Interesting. But the other thing was really, really impressive. This is going to have to be filmed. So I think it was a week or so ago. I went to my brother-in-law's and I did his McCann GTS. And then I did a Skoda Citigo, which was absolutely disgusting. I remember seeing the pictures of that. Oh, my God. The cup holders had so much coffee residue and fag ash that I had to APC them, actually drill brush the coffee cup holders. Wait a minute. It's turned into fag ash. Yeah. It's a smoker as well. So fag ash, mixture of that and coffee. But I didn't think smokers in cars ever used in it because we're like, we don't have ash trays in cars anymore. So people just fuck out the window. So how do we happen? It happens. I don't know if I should say the car doesn't make sense to me. It blows around the car because your window is open and it just lands everywhere and this stuff was everywhere. It was disgusting. So that was hideous at car. So one of those up there, I then walked down the bottom of the garden. They've got like a thing where the horses go around, men ask the thing and tell this call, excuse me, then. You've got to somewhere. Oh, you got to occupy yourself and you even isn't it? We're walking through and we're going to look at this whole box, which is going to be the next big video. People keep asking me to make a big video. I haven't finished the plumb in wet-vac video. Now we'll be filming a video about a horse box. I've got to make another video about the other being fixed before I do the video on the horse box. I'm a little bit busy. Told you. Never rains it pulls. So on the way through, there's a summer house and in behind that, there's a bit where this horse was stood and it had like a muzzle thing on it and I was walking through and I'm not that keen on horses. I just don't trust them. Also, the safest place for a horse is in between a bit of French stick. Sorry, I'm a little bit of a horse mate. I was walking through this field and I was trying not to make eye contact with this horse. Because you just know what's going to happen. I think I've got away with it. I just got to the gate and my brother-in-law was just like pulling the latch up and literally this thing hit butted me in the back of my shoulder. I won't tell what a turn around says this horse but I wasn't very pleased. I literally just turned around and I was like, I can't, I'm going. I'm literally leaving your field. It was just like get out my field. Honestly, really, really weird. Get off my land. And it got worse. I went around the back and saw this. It's a three-axle horsebox. We've living quarters in the front and then the horse goes in the back. That's not a horsebox. That's like a full-on. That's one of those Katie price humongous. It's practically a lorry kind of thing. No, no, no, it's not a lorry. I'm living quarters if it's not a lorry. It's a you tell it. It's literally like almost like a normal horsebox, but like a limo. It's like caravan that you put your horse into. I don't know. It's got living quarters in the front with net curtains and all that stuff. This thing is brown. It's absolutely horrendous. Anyway, you know, I'm an animal lover, obviously. There's enough. There's a brown horse. Exactly. There's a brown horse in the field right next to this and I just went like in my usual horse voice. Oh, hello, naturally, because I said he talked to a horse. It's like just went up to touch it. My brother-in-law goes, I wouldn't do that for you. He goes, that fence is low. I just wouldn't. Whoa. Okay. Oh, I wouldn't. I just wouldn't have warned you. I'm sorry. I would have I would have started hitting record on my phone first. I know what I could think of was following through. I just said to my dog, I don't have any touch because I just want to shit myself. I like cattle prod like Rick Maill. So I'm not doing this thing. This thing is really tall. I said, have you got any steps? He's like, oh yeah, I think I've got some ladders. I think the high piads, because it's going to make a really dodgy video. I came back and I turned my back to Smethor. I finished for the day. I said, oh, my brother, I've got to go back. It's actually this set that I'm going to film this thing. I said, I've got to go and do the horse box. It's really tall. I said, we've probably fallen off a ladder and break me an instrument. Well, don't say that. I said, all right, on land on grass, it's fine. Hence we were talking about, I've just bought a new extension lead. I can plug into the summer house and we can run water down there. So that's what could be doing very, very soon. So yeah, at the moment, I literally done a which way to turn. I've also said, price is car up, which was yesterday. This ID seven for a ceramic coating job. I've got another three to do near work, which I'm going to do those. So yeah, very, very busy. And it's weird because last year it was, it was okay. I mean, I was working with Paul and I was doing bits and pieces with Terry. But this year, it's really sort of took off for myself and I'm really grateful for the work. I mean, I love it. It's great. The only downside is you think, well, hang on Paul, why can't you make some more videos because you got these vehicles you're doing sadly not. It's quite difficult. So I have got videos I've been recording stuff, I've been, been recording stuff for the wet faq. I've also been recording bits and pieces.
pieces, so I can make some videos, but honestly, I know it is like, when you do a vehicle, it literally puts hours on it. We were talking about before we came on air. I mean, hours, I mean, I've had this BMW here for longer than it should be here for, but I've got a kind of relaxed time frame from it. He's not in a hurry for this vehicle, which is weird because I've been in a hurry to get it done. So I can then get on with the next job, which is staffed really, because I shouldn't really be in such a hurry. I'm in a previous position because it's not my main gig. Yeah, the moment I literally done it, which way to turn it, it's gone absolutely nuts. Well, this is it. I mean, I'd like to do more work for money if I could, you know, part of the reason why I don't get paid. I do it for the church. And as if you believe that you'll believe anything. There's a reason that Paul can afford all these seven, eight, nine and 10 percent beers. Oh, can we quickly talk about polishing? Oh, he's got a shock fox. Talk about shock night. Oh, Fox in a minute, the sequel. If you don't know what that is, it's a look at up. So I think, do we talk about this in the last podcast about my dump farm and I found this polisher? Have we spoke about the polisher? I don't remember if we actually talked about it very quickly, very quickly. I'll recap. If I've, if we do talk a lot of shy, I mean, we do talk a lot of really informative stuff. So I, yes, sense, bear with me. I found a flex polisher. I didn't nick it. It was in the dump, local dump, where I live and to put a fuse in the plug. And it works. But ever since I've had it, it was a very, very faint smell of electrical. As soon as you start it up. And I remember my, I think my group has used to do this and certainly my rotary from shine, mate, had a little bit of a burning smell and it used to just go away. But I've been using that polisher with, so I've got two VRG's, four rotation. I got the new four rotation from flex and any older model. So on the newer model, I've got like a medium pad, the one from flex, which is a six inch and on the other one, I've got a five inch pad, which is the hex logic copy. It's by a company called Shark Fox. So on AliExpress and I honestly reach out to these guys because it's so durable this thing. And I'm blown away by it. It's really good. And I've got the red pads as well, which is the finishing ones. But I'm beginning to think that obviously a lot of these places are these huge factories. A lot of these pads are made, I've got to be made in one area, sure. Yes, of course, of course, of course, it's foamy's foamy's foamy. It is up to a point. But I mean, I'm sure there's going to be some companies that cut corners. But when it comes to this kind of massive pad industry, you realistically, you can't, I can't imagine that you've got one company that just makes them for this brand and then another company that just makes them for that brand. There's going to be one big company that knocks out a whole range of different pads. And some of them will use slightly more premium quality materials. And some of them will be slightly cheaper and not as good. Some are terrible. The back income, and I'm like, yeah, and they're not very good. And I get that. But I was really, really surprised at these. The blue pads are like the polish impads. Yeah. Because I've obviously, I've got cut in pads. I don't really need any of those at the moment. But after every vehicle, I tend to put an ordering. So now I've got more pads to do the next car. So I've got a multiple so I can put a load in the wash and I've still got new ones to use because I right. I take my pads quite a lot as in usage. But yeah, I was quite pleasantly surprised. Shall I say? I mean, I can imagine that the hex logic pads, they're probably, yes, they're probably just different material on them. And then they'll be sold as chemical guys and one name and then shark fox and the other and then something else. I mean, I remember early doors in my detailing career, if you could call it that. I was buying SPTA pads. I forgot them because I do buy them. But you know what? They're decent. They're decent. They are decent. Yeah, they are. Because Ali expressed through those sales, don't they? Yes, they hang up on your phone and it will say SPTA or shark fox. And it will say the smallest amount, it will always give you the smallest figure won't it? It will say, I don't know, this is say £5.50 and you think, oh great, I'll click on that and then you go down the bottom and you select the color you want and then you select the size. And obviously as you click on the size, the price increases because they choose the one the size of a thimble, don't they? Yes, yes, it starts at the end. It starts pricing from which annoys them. Have you noticed that? They do a lot of that on Ali Express. I've found this the other night. I was looking at the, so I've got one of those little effectively. It's like a dream. They, I think SPTA made them. There's loads of Chinese manufacturers made these. It's a battery. It's like a dream. So you put your cone attachments in the ends. You can do it behind the door handles. Yeah. Well, if you get the other one, which is the one that connects to the rotary, that's like the kit, isn't it? And you get all the cone attachments. When they put the advert up, it's like, I don't know, £2.50 and then you suddenly realise that the first advert is like the bag. Yes. And then you think, no, I don't want a bag. I want the polisher. Yes. And you click on the third bit along. It's like a hundred and fifty quid. You think, well, that's not £5.50 is it? I know it. I know it well. I mean, I'm trying to get you in specie. Yeah. You do. Of course they do. Well, I mean, they do this. They know it's for that. I know you know, they know you're 55 and you can't think for yourself. They do it on eBay a lot of the time as well. You know, you're looking for something and then, oh, that looks like a good price. But then you click on it. And what what eBay do is they say, oh no, the cheaper versions are stock. But the one that we have in stock is three times a price. Like, well, you've done that deliberately just so that you show up for the cheap skates of us that go to that thing at the top of the list and say, sort by price lowest to highest, you know, they know that their stuff is never going to show up on that at the beginning of that list. Because the only one they've got in stock is three times a price. So they'll say, we also do this one. It could be as cheap as this. Oh, sorry, so it is out of stock with a shame. But have this one instead. How's it with this three times a price outside? Yeah, great. Thanks. They do the same thing. And I mean, even TikTok shop does the same thing. I've been buying a bunch of stuff on TikTok shop. And I see things on there. And I think to myself, hey, that's good. But when you click on it and you realize the one you've selected, it's like, no, that's not the one I wanted. I want the one that you show in the main picture. Oh, no, that one. Yeah, that's so that's 40 quid more. I don't think so. That annoys the hell out of me. So I know where you're coming from. But yeah, those parts, they wouldn't need to be. They wouldn't need to be really careful because eBay do it as well. One subject of buying online eBay will say, actually now competing off our. Yeah. There's literally one person watching it. And it's like, yeah, they get, well, how can I be like, I had it recently. This is an interesting story. When you add something to your saved list and then they get in touch with you and say, hey, I'll give you 50 P off. Oh, yeah, we, I bet. Yeah, the deals, the deals. Oh, God, don't even go there. So I've done if I told you this, I've recently bought two more kites because one's not enough. Of course. I think I got four now. And Samantha was saying to me the other day, she goes, you don't need any more kites. You can only fly one at once. Oh, yeah. Oh, she is. I'll show you a trick. There's no, there's no kids about. Hold my belt. Oh, I've got a story to tell you when we finish recording because I am shoot as hell, not telling it publicly, but I've got a story to tell you. Carry on. So I bought a kite from a guy. It was what they call a deep power kite. So it's essentially a training kite for kite surfing, which I'm never going to do because I'm too scared. And it's really expensive. And this kite would have been dismantled. Now, most people would think, oh, well, hang on a secite. It's two lines. It's not. It's five lines. One of them is a deep power line, two brake lines, two flying lines. And he took the entire bridal apart. Essentially, this thing was just in bits. I looked at it, didn't have a clue. Try to download the plans for it. Try to download the manual, got in touch with a seller. Unfortunately, it was his uncle's who's no longer with us. I felt really bad. We can't agree. I've got some money back on it. I thought that's fine. So I can now have a little bit money back. I can find someone on the island that can teach me how to use it. So I emailed this guy. He's fairly like I won't say where he is. Just start the road. My suspicions were, I was a bit suspicious because he didn't get back to me straight away. We are really going off an attention. This is gone from data into kite. I know, but this is just to be wary about certain things. So I got an email back for him and he said, I'll do it. I'll do maybe how he should sound. And he said, don't tell me sorry. This is obviously pos. How do I know that from an email? There you go. He said, I've been on a kite safari. I thought, that's a farry.
I can't think they're that dangerous. I think tigers maybe, but not kites, kites are fiery if you will, these such a thing. Yes, you said I used to fly those, I can help you out. No problem whatsoever. Slight pause in the emails sector. Next one comes back, 65 pound an hour minimum of three hours. And I thought, I'll be out of pocket, I only paid like 50 odd quid for this. So I left it anyway. Meanwhile, on my watch list, I had another one on there, which is a very, very fast kite. It's got a flexi-force staker. They're really, really quick. Go ahead and add it on there. It was up in Coventry. So he's miles away, collection only. So I'd look, always do this is a little bit of advice. We'd like to give advice on the podcast. Talk to people. If it says collection only, just message them, because they may post it. Maybe they're just a bit nervous in the pants. They don't stand. They don't know what a post office is. They may not really English. I don't know. Message this guy. I said, look, any chance you could post it. He came back with the typical answer from most of them. How do I do that? Okay. We'll take it out of the post office. They weigh it and they go, that'll be 9,000 pound. Yes. So you're real meal. Yeah. Yeah. So I thought, I left it. Then they ran anything back for about a week. So I messaged him and said, "Any luck with the postage?" He said, "Oh, sorry, I forgot. He said, "Do it tomorrow." Which he did. Then he came back to me and I said, "How much was the postage be?" So very long this guy was not 52 quid, which is a banger of a bargain. He's never been flown before, still in the bag. He went, to be honest, he said, "It's taken that long to find out about the postage. You can have it for free." So he didn't actually charge me the postage that he was going to charge me. So I didn't have to pay any postage. And he sent it. He sent it for free. And it turned up. Yeah, but they some chaffed a bit. What a lead. Yeah. Kicked in the left testicle with one purchase. Tickled with the other one. I was wondering what you were going to say there. No, that's wicked. Speaking of postage. Always talk to people. Yeah, absolutely. Speaking of postage, my, our good friends, too, got in touch with me and he said, "I've got a couple of bottles of fragrance here." Oh, yeah, because you really need those, don't you? I do. Of course, I do. Shut up. You're down to your last 500 bottles. Exactly. Listen, listen, I got, I got a message. I posted a picture of these. I got a message from a reference, Savicki. And she said, another one. Well, she said another one. And I said, listen, I've only now got 73 bottles. And it was 71 at the time. And she replied and said, I was going to say something, but I thought better of it. And I was like, no, no, no, say it. Come on, say it with a chest. Come on, no, get out there. She said, I was going to say, why do you need 71 bottles? And I said, and why didn't you say this? And she said, because I knew what the answer would be. And I said, and what would the answer be? She says, why do you have 71 cars? More cars. She's absolutely right. Exactly. Why does she have so many cars? You either collect cars or you collect fragrances or you collect stamps. Who the hell cares? It's a thing. And some people just like these things. So anyway, I like my fragrances. So Stu had two bottles of Paco Raban, one million. But there were different versions. One of them was one million elixir. I saw this on your story. That's right. Yeah. The other one was one million per film. And he said, I'm selling these. The boxes have been opened, but the fragrances haven't been used because I've basically I've already got other things like them or I've got these already and I don't need them. Would you like to buy them off me instead? I'll give you first refusal before I go and stick them on eBay or something. I said, oh, well, well, that's interesting. How much you sell them for us. So he told me and I said, listen, I would like one of them. And my eldest is interested in the other because he's getting into his fragrances too. So he said to me, I've got some birthday money. So I'll pay for one of them and you pay for the other one. I said, right, wicked done deal. So we did it. We agreed the payment. I sent it over on PayPal. He chucked him in the post for me. Fantastic. Two brand new bottles of Packer Ban one million, one elixir and one part from he's a lovely guy. Now what he also included in the box. This is where it gets funnier is he has been dabbling with making his own. And he sent me two of them. And he has these little little glass bottles, 50 mil glass bottles. And he's got a label printer. So he sent me these two in the box without me knowing what they were. So I took them out. One of them says blackbeard's delight. The other one, the other one says sex panther by Odeon. And I was like, he's gone down the anchor man route. If you don't get this is the coffee right. It's when he says at the beginning, he never ceases to amaze me when you say, what are you going to go for blackbeard's delight or no, no, London gentleman. He says, no, no, she gets the special one. It's called sex panther by Odeon. So even on the back of the bottle of the sex panther one, it says at the bottom, it says disclaimer, it's quite pungent. 60% of the time it works every time. He's a clever guy and he really is clever. The sex panther one is nice. Blackbeard's delight. However, he's made this. He's made a gorgeous, gorgeous fragrance. And I haven't actually told him this yet because I keep forgetting to tell him. So that's amazing that he came up with this absolutely incredible. So thank you, Stu. Appreciate that. Before I talk about maintenance, yes, we've detailed him. We'll be arguing to talk about that. Because why would you not? Very quickly. Where did the sign come from? First refusal. Because to me, that means you don't want it. I mean, it's, it's weird. What, what does that mean? First refusal? I mean, essentially the way I would look at it, first refusal means, you are being given the, the privilege of the first person to say no to it. That's what first I've used. I've actually just typed it into Google and it literally says dictionary, first refusal. Now, the privilege is, you see, damn, I'm good. The privilege of deciding whether to accept or reject something before it is offered to others. So there you go. That's first refusal. So you are privileged to know when you set the English in school. What's up front? Well done. No, I was sitting there and out of the bloody window. I, I, I, speak Scottish, not English. I got a chocolate. I forgot this. I added this in my notes, but I left it further down because I was adding something else. I forgot about this. Got a funny, funny thing here. Smart cars, right? Not the old ones, the new ones. Have you seen the new smart hashtag one? No, I'm going to use my internet provider and have a look. Right. Go and look up the smart hashtag one. There's a funny thing coming from this. Why it's called the hashtag one, I have no idea why they decided that it needed a hashtag. I am not sure. They're expensive. They're expensive and they're pretty ugly. It looks like if someone sat on a mini, it's a bizarre looking thing. Right. I remember seeing one of these in the flesh. In fact, I saw three of them when we were at Mercedes Benz World a couple of years ago down in, down in England, sister, Shire, there were Mercedes Benz World they had there because Mercedes Benz owns the smart brand. So there were a couple of these cars sat there. Now, there is, you know, how some cars they have the boot release. It's under the little lip at the bottom. And there's a wee button you press in there and that releases the boot. Yeah. The smart, the smart doesn't have it there. Where is it? On the back of the car, on the back of the boot lid, it says right in the very middle, it says smart, right? The actual word smart. Okay. So you see the letter A. Yep. You have to push the inside of the letter A. So where are you putting your finger? Oh, yeah. In the A hole. How do you think of something such? Oh, I'm not the only one that thought this. It's I thought it and then someone else posted it on TikTok and said and to release the boot lid, just push your finger in the A hole here. And there it goes. And the boot lid releases. Honestly, I mean, okay, I think the car is ugly, but I think whoever designed that idea has a fantastically wicked sense of humor to say that that is where you're going to put it. You could have put it anywhere else, but you decided that the A hole, the letter A of the word smart is where you should do it. That's just dast and silly. And not funny at all. It's not very grown up. No, we like it. We like it. It's brilliant. It just tickled me. Yeah, back to the day.
- Great, great. - So all right, we have only covered tonight, kite flying, e-bay purchases, dodgy sellers, A-holes on cars, fragrance corner, we haven't had any travel this week, which is bizarre. I don't know why. - Well, Kay did. - Kay did better travel, I did better travel. - There's a travel show after all. This is the Italian maintenance. So, we are coming out of, hopefully, you won't be for another three or four months, winter. We are approaching spring-like weather, slightly warmer, a bit of changing characteristics of the stuff we're using. So I've been using a lot of spray on rinse off sealants because of quick and easy to use. They're affordable and it's just quicker doing cars. But I am gonna switch to going with to maybe a different sort of LSP, very, very soon. I found this out, that's my stomach, sorry. I hope my, I hope my mic is not a fastened pickup, that's my stomach. - I just heard it, I'm gonna have fun. (laughing) - I just forget E-Bull and I, reoccurring, how do you? Good job, I have no idea, oh my god, weak hands terrible. - I had a mistake, yes, I made the mistake yesterday. I went to Tesco and I've been, I've had seen some orange juice, so I bought a liter bottle of orange juice and I drank it while walking home. I finished the entire liter of orange juice. I tell you what, if, (laughing) - You don't banged up. - Don't, don't, if you're going to do this, don't plan on going anywhere. Don't go anywhere because at any moment, something is gonna come creeping up and scream at you. (laughing) - Leiter. - My wife was killing herself, she was killing herself laughing. My dad was over for his tea last night. I said, "Hang on, sorry, wait a minute, I have to go." And as mid run to the toilet, I then had to stop and hold on to things for a minute until the spasm passed so I could get into the toilet and she said to her, "My dad, he just drank a liter of orange juice earlier." So no wonder he's at the run. (laughing) - God. - Oh, that is a pulling. You wouldn't be the podcast without some toilet here. - Oh, I know, I know. - Anyway. - Yeah, but yes, get back to it. - Get back to it. - Come here. We're thinking about maintenance, especially on snow foam lances. So. - Oh yes. - I found, yeah. So I've got a car sky, one which I use. I think I've got about 10 lances. I'm such an idiot. And I noticed it wasn't performing very well. It kept hunting. If you don't want to hunt, is it literally means it's literally like. - It's kicking off and kicking off, isn't it? - Yeah, it's a bit like when I say a bit, no, I want to. (laughing) - Say, yeah. So I've been having some adult fun and I go to do a wee. Takes a while, eventually comes out. It's a bit of a dribble. (laughing) Leave it like that. (laughing) I think you get the picture. - It's a long. - It's like Samantha doesn't listen to this podcast. - It's on. - It's off. It's on. - And it always hits the wall. Why did I do that? I don't know. No wonder that toilet roll holder's gone rusty. (laughing) - Sheep stainless, high-blind BNQ. So. (laughing) - It was like that. And this is brilliant. I mean, it's just so me. And we were sitting at the garden and just having a cheeky drink. And I thought, well, I'll sit there, get me screwdriver's out, pop the clip off the snow foam lance, take the front of this part. This is bizarre. They're so basic, aren't they? These things, I can never remember how it goes back together. Honestly, you wouldn't. It's literally a blade, isn't it? It's a couple of blades. - It's a couple of blades. - Yes, I don't even call them blades. So I think I made a video once and called them deflector pleats. - Okay, deflector blades. - Deflector pleats. - Clevary cogs. So I took this thing apart. The literally, just every single beer bit off. And soaked it in lime skull removers or thought, that would do the trick. - What's that? - And I thought, and I thought, I literally thought, no, it can't be that. Why would it be the orifice? Why wouldn't it be? - Why wouldn't it be? - Yeah. So I didn't manage to get a flat blade screwdriver and I took that out. And what had happened, narrowed so much, you could barely see through it. And it was congealed, it was congealed wet coat. It was, and it's the ceramic, which is in the wet coat. - Yeah. - And this is what happened. So it can block up the filter. It hadn't blocked the filter up, but it had literally some sort of a scaly residue. You have to use one of those little things you use to get the SIM card out, you phone. - Oh yes, yeah. - I use one of those and I managed to scrape out this stuff and it's really, it's quite tough to get out. And then put it all back together again. And now it's literally like a brand new lance. So don't think you need to ditch your lance. The other thing is, I've never had an issue with this, but one of my IK FOMers has started to buy up. Once again, it's got the, get up in the middle of the night, dribble problem. - It's not, it's not spraying properly. And it's just not coming out. It looks like toothpaste when it comes out. And those things have filters. They're like a little white filter, like a little sponge. - Yeah, sort of thing. - Yeah, and I think that what's replacing, it certainly wants some maintenance and it wants cleaning up. So yeah, try and look after your kit. Bear in your mind, you've detailed last year and then you're going into a new year you're moment of look at changing some of your kit and then have a look. - That's a fair point. - Yeah. - Or if you live in Scotland. - But how's keep just don't worry about anything like that because we do it. (laughing) - Yeah, this is a problem. Yeah, we've hard water areas. And it does it place, have it with stuff. I've just recently bought the new hose dock as a new hose lock set for my tap because that started leaking and I now probably got to replace my hose 'cause I've got like a Pimperic hole. It's always in the most stupid part of the hose, isn't it? It's dragging it across the driveway. Eventually these things, you just get holes in them. So yeah, a bit of maintenance. The arv has got to be fixed. I've got the o-ring kit for that. But you have to just look after your kit. So that's what I'm doing at the moment. So yeah, don't neglect your kit and wash all your cloths regular as well. - What's your best thing since you've been doing polishing? What's your go-to method for cleaning your pads? - There's a couple of methods I use. If I'm out there with a pressure washer, I will literally coat them in APC so I have a pump sprayer with me and then I will blast them out with a wide fan on the stubby gun. And then I will spin them up on the polisher to get the most of the water out and then put them to one side and then rotate the pads. That's how I clean them out. Now on this vehicle, I've actually had enough pads and funny enough, the hex logic ones disperse residue quicker than a normal flat pad because obviously it's got the grooves inside. - Well, yeah, it'll be kind of catching it more there than on the surface. - Yeah, so that's not been too bad. So on the first day I threw everything in the washing machine, the pads, all the cloths, everything and then just rotate them and it seems to work. You can wash them by hand, but if you do that, a lot of the junk comes out with a scented deform, they go like a little bit wonky and funny enough, you'd think that would be like that putting in a washing machine but actually I come out of washing machine non-deformed if you like. - See, I wash my hand. - I've done it in the past, washing my hand. - I guess it depends. I've done both, but generally speaking, if I'm washing the pads, it's because I've put everything else away, I've put the pressure washer away, I've tidied up in the garage and washing the pads is pretty much the last thing to do. Grab all the towels together, throw them in the wash and wash out the pads. And so most of the time I just do it in the sink and the deforming situation, I've found that that gets sort of fixed by hot water because it relaxes the foam. If you use cold water, it stays kind of a bit stiff and not willing to move, but hot water, a final hot water rinse brings all the cells open up again and the foam starts to relax because of the heat 'cause it's more willing to move with that higher temperature. So that's how I do it, but it's literally just a case of, I rinse them off as much as I can first, then spray on some APC, work it in with my hands, I do have a little brush sometimes to use it if it's really stubborn, but most of the time, I'm just using the thumbs, I'm just squeezing it between my fingers and thumbs to squeeze out all the stuff in there and give it a good rinse. I've never had any real issues go in that way. I'm looking forward to getting more content made this year because we are starting to finally see some better weather here, not to say it's perfect, but it's definitely better. What annoyed me was I was going down to Hellsbury last week to see my sister. And in Hellsbury, in my local town, it was like eight degrees. In Hellsbury, it was like 12 or 13 degrees and Stu messaged me and he's down Manchester way. He was getting 20 degrees. So. - Yeah. - We really disappointed. We have beautiful countries out here, beautiful scenery and crap weather. Yeah, we hit 23, I think, the other day for a die. It was really weird. And everyone sort of came out in shorts and started cutting their lawns off one does. And then the next day, it was Baltic, it was freezing. It's just been really, the wind here has been unreal. When I started the car on Friday doing it, the afternoon I was in a t-shirt, but then I had to wear like a body warm because my nipples got cold. I won't lie. This is my age. My chest. (laughs)
My chest got cold. I had the best compliment from my wife the other day. I had to try some Try some clothes on because I'm 55. I don't buy me any clothes Okay My wife buys them like many of us. Yeah, try this on. I'm not wearing that. It's her super Ted All right, let's put this So I put one on and I know my wife's face basically She's just is like is it goes over my chest she starts grinning and then she just in What she wants to say fat bastard So I and I this is it's such a back-handed comp It's not even a back-handed condo is actually in salt. She just went you sure you've lost white God That can you imagine her face if you said that to her? Cutting yeah, yeah, I'll go I wouldn't I got what I And why don't we men do this? Probably why don't we men do this? Anyone who listens to this podcast please message us about this because this is this is happens to me all the time I was in I dance I the middle class shop signs be as every day someone in there partner to evolve though obviously and I had to go upstairs to get my wife a dress she wanted this dress They didn't have it in her size So I did the thing I video call her and said what about this one? It'll make you look taller Get over that one Stripey Not not widthways vertical like a zebra crossing Got this got this dress. She literally put it over her head just Just literally don't let it drop like that. Yeah, you don't like it do you? Like I'm gonna chance to look at it yet What does it look like? It looks good. Are you sure? You don't like it and they more or less Shoot aside no, it looks bloody awful. Take it off. It's gaslighting you to say something else so that they can agree. Yeah, I knew it was wrong Yeah, it's crazy so I I've been buying except been looking on T-Moo and and I found a few bits and bobs and obviously I got some of the detailing bits I have bought another thing from T-Moo Which is going to be used in a carcare video so keep your eyes peeled for that one, but Why I was there was looking for a bunch of other things and you know, you've got to place a certain minimum order to get your free delivery So I was like yeah, okay fine. I've ended up with a spent like I don't know 14 quid on there I ended up with 19 quid credit back So I've got credit on my team who account that I got to go and spend it on something of no idea what But I was looking for things for myself and then I was looking for things for Natalie and I found a bunch of stuff on there And I thought in the pictures this looks nice now. I know it's hitter miss when it comes to T-Moo But I thought you know, this is a nice top here.
