S4E22 - Garland National Qualifier w/ Bailee Fields

Welcome back athletes to the third blood sugar interference podcast. I am back Brandon will be joining us later on however I am here joined with the Bailey fields so say hello Bailey Thanks for having me Yep, we are super fresh off of Texas Hill Country heats win in the Garland qualifier you know winning matches over some hotly contested games and while we did just interview a heat player after they won at SEI we wanted to do it again just to show our love for them and just how how dominant they've been so far this year so yeah I guess to get things started Bailey I mean everyone knows who you are but tell people like your origins how you've become the player you are now Yeah absolutely well first thanks for saying all those nice things about my team and I think I'm on my going on my 11th year now which is crazy to say I started a team called the San Marcus Shark Nados for all you guys who remember those cool cats so I started off at was Texas State to be team at the time then was moved to Texas State after the next year and I was a beater for them I never got to chase until the 2023 season I believe for the MLQ Austin outlaws which I was part of from I want to say my first year was 2017 until 2023 was my last year with them and then in 2018 I was also included on the national team so I have my toe dipped in a bunch of different team pulls yeah definitely so with your time with Texas State how much of that overlapped with a lot of the people that you're playing with now so I overlapped with Jackson and Ramp John Alvarez and um and Mel Kite oh Maya as well I didn't team with her as much because she kind of came in I want to say like my last year so we didn't get to team on Texas State at the same time but I did get some face time with Maya and then Farron as well who is coaching Texas State right now I guess the main reason I wanted to ask that is because obviously you've been beating with Jackson since like the dinosaurs so like what's it like getting to beat with the same person year after year and how important is it for you to be able to continue that chemistry and how you know how much does it benefit you guys as a team it's it's definitely really nice I'm very lucky to be a part of a team that has such great talent overall but I mean Jackson doesn't need any more glazing but obviously he's he's very good at what he does so to be able to just kind of build that chemistry on the pitch from the you know the beginning of my career I just you know I do feel very lucky I felt like it definitely helped develop me as a player and then you know flashing forward to now I think it is just nice to be able to rely on like a tried and true air I think that you know if anything crazy is happening we know that we can put Jackson and I together and we know exactly what we're gonna do you know how when you kind of play with someone new and you have to over communicate a little bit we don't really have that problem I think we don't really so we don't really communicate that much in all the pitches kind of just we've done it so many times we we just kind of know where we're gonna be at you know whatever given situation that is presented yeah I love that and it's crazy to me because like obviously you two have been you know teammates for a long time at all like all levels of the game right at even at the highest level with you know the national team and I guess my question now is just how do you continue to find ways to get better right you're in my opinion you're one of the best beaters in the world not like not you know you know you us beaters like best beaters in the world period so like what do you how do you find ways to continue to improve yourself as a player and even you know at the peak that you're at I appreciate you saying that thank you so much that's so nice I am so competitive in my nature and so I just have this like drive and that's for kind of anything whether it be sports related or not and so I am constantly pushing myself whether it be for you know quad ball or marathons or what have you so I I find a lot of drive from from myself just wanting to be the best competitor that I can be and then also I just honestly I it's been a while since I've I've won a gold and I really really want another one and I know there's a good chunk of people on our team that really want another one and that is always the goal every season obviously and so I just want to make sure that I can do my part to help the team kind of achieve that goal and so I push myself you know in terms of working out and keeping myself healthy I have a pretty strict workout schedule you can add to my roommates I borderline crazy when it comes to like my fitness and trying to you know maintain myself be in the best shape and best mindset possible so it's it really it stems from there is there anything specific that you work on in terms of getting better use its strength is it cardio is it catching is it throwing like is there anything in in specific that you think is the most important when it comes to developing as a beater that someone should be working on the most honestly as a beater I mean beating is so chaotic and it's so it requires so much of you you know from an athletic standpoint and so I honestly think of combination of everything I weight train I do you know yoga but I'm also like I'm sprinting but I'm also distance training and I'll train noodles hills are really good for getting and you know really good cardio shape especially when you're talking about like flag runner on pitch and you know that's like the most hectic hiring part of the game for for beaters sometimes and so it just kind of leveling or you know being a well-rounded athlete in all x's is kind of what I focus on I do a lot of different things and I think that in terms of you know just being you know in shape and in an athlete from like a physician specific perspective a will throw in like components of the beating game like at the end of like a cone drill or something or like I'll do ladders and then have you know like a sprint or shuffle like a drill that I've set up for myself and at the end I'll have you know sammy or mel boy live with you know have an exchange with me or throw a ball I mean I tried to catch it or just kind of work any scenario that could happen from a one-on-one interaction and doing so while I'm really tired because if you could do it while you're exhausted and you can do it you know when you're fresh and ready to go or you know on day two of a tournament and you know a semi-final or a no-no-sense match. And I think that's such an important thing like you know it's so easy to taper off at the end of a practice like if you know if we're our grilling practice you know in the middle of the summer in Texas where it's honestly. This heat yeah. Nobody wants to be there. Everyone wants to go home and go to sleep but I mean putting in that extra work at the end I think it's such a like a character thing too it's like like when I when I was in high school and you know playing sports it's like the last 30 minutes of practice is like showed like who really wants it you know. Yeah absolutely who's got that hunger. And sometimes that's all it takes you know we saw it this weekend with you guys with all the matchups like one goal made the difference in so many of the matchups. It was kind of crazy. Yeah. I love where the club seeing is like setting itself up to be for you know nationals and moving forward everyone's kind of talking about how level the playing field is now for all of the different teams that have popped up. It's really exciting to the high level matches that we've seen and are going to get to see how the season goes on. Definitely it's going to be really fun. And I guess just moving forward talking more about heat and you know heat individually right. So when it comes to I guess putting this team together that you guys have because I I understand you're in leadership I'm not sure who what the echelon of people is. Yeah so it's Sabi is the head coach and then we have two assistant coaches Mel Cuy is one assistant coach and Christian Cortez is another assistant coach and then I am the Peter and like conditioning path and J. Stewart is our chase captain. So that's kind of how the breakdown will be. Well, there it goes. So I guess when working with, you know, this group of people, because it's unlike, you know, previous years of he where you had, you know, you know, all these vets that have been playing for years at a time. And now you have young people that are fresh out of college. And then you have people from the big bang according to your Instagram. So like, how do you, how do you manage such a big group with such a wide age range from both a personality and, you know, building chemistry perspective off the field and connecting their play on the field? Well, it's really nice to have within our, you know, team several, like little groups of people have played together, whether it be from college or from an MLQ team or even, you know, SNT or DA. There's a lot of different personalities, lots of big personalities on this team, especially since there are pieces of, you know, championship winning teams that have all come to, you know, kind of end up here with us. And so lots of big personalities, which is not necessarily, you know, a bad thing. I think that what we have been trying to do this whole season is to, well, one, see kind of our baseline, which is generally who has played with each other before, what, you know, has generally worked so far, you know, what's our tried and true. And then which players may have certain playing styles that actually kind of work better with other players. So for instance, we've got, you know, your tech to state group in your UTSA group, but maybe a little UTSA tech to state line, you know, works better than you're full on, you know, tech to state group in your UTSA group. Or we have, you know, a full UTSA line, but maybe Ella Jordan fits in there with that play style. And it also is dependent on who we're playing, right? So not only are we managing different play styles from the players individually, but we're also trying to see what combination of players would be the best matchup for whoever we are going to be facing at the time. And I'm not going to lie, we're still trying to figure out what combination of players is going to be, you know, the best for any given situation or the most optimal because, obviously, I think that any line that we throw out there could do pretty well. And so it's just trying to figure out how best to use them for certain scenarios. If that makes sense, I feel like I've just been friendly in a circle. No, you're good. And that makes total sense. I think it's so important to find that chemistry. And that's what these tournaments are for, right? Like we were telling team, you know, after we lost, it's like champions aren't one in February, right? So it's like, like, now's the time to get all this out of our system so that in April, it is time to cray on someone. It's like, we're ready to go. We know exactly what's ahead. We know what to expect. We know how lines are going to work. And that's just kind of how it is, right? And you also get that exposure with the different teams that we, you know, haven't seen throughout the season yet. And so getting the different looks against a different style of play from, you know, rain and dice and, and proof city, it allows us to kind of see, all right, what are the things that we should work on? You know, just because I mean, we played you guys, you know, seven times and at this point. And so the game kind of, you know, we kind of know each other a little well, you know? And so getting a fresh look is kind of good to shine light on some stuff. Like, oh, we should really work on this. Or oh, this is actually pretty good, you know? I definitely feel the same way. I don't like playing you guys over and over and over again. So it's, I mean, I don't know. People about like, yeah, I get you. Yeah, it's, it's definitely nice like getting that fresh, I guess fresh air in a way. You know, where it's like, now, you know, going into what will be nationals, it's like, you know, you guys have gotten to play against, you know, the other, you know, biggest contenders as of right now on paper, right? Where, you know, according to fast-break news, you know, you've already played against the other, you know, among the four top teams, you played against all of them. So how do you kind of go into your next matchup with these people? Knowing that, of course, you've beaten all of them but dice, yet knowing that you still have to groan and still having to get better and keeping the minds fresh and not getting too ahead of yourselves or too cocky, right? Because it's really easy to say like, oh, you know, we just beat rain by a lot. We're good. But then also knowing that they're going to get better. So you have to as well. Exactly. I think the, you know, the main thing is we, we, you know, what you said, we really don't want to be complacent and we know that while yes, we did you know, some of the results that we wanted and we did pull out, you know, a win and we got our bid that doesn't necessarily equal that or job is finished. There are plenty of things that we need to work on and honestly, the product that we put out this past weekend while I'm very, very proud of my team and I think that we accomplished some incredible things and we had some incredible performances that is nowhere near the ceiling of, you know, it's nowhere near what we're capable of doing. I think that our ceiling is really high and I think that if anything, we're really, you know, we're, we want to work on, we know what we have to work on this weekend highlighted some, you know, some things for us and and we're not taking our foot off the gas by any standard. And we also, you know, we did take the, I think the L to die. So we, we, we, uh, we have plenty of things to work on and and we're definitely, while yes, we're very happy that we have our bid. We're very happy that we did win. We're not satisfied with, with everything yet. We have a lot more to grow and we're very excited about the potential of what we can bring coming into Nationals in April. For sure. I think one of the my favorite things about your team this year is, is just your depth, right? There's not like a clear, number one, it's not a clear number two. And, you know, in past years, right, you know, we've seen it, right, where, you know, the, you know, the lines get a little shorter, you know, it turns, you know, when it gets a little competitive, it turns into from a, you know, 21, it turns into an 18 and then it turns into a 15, you know, so I really love, you know, getting to see basically everyone out there in the final game, right? When it matters. And I think that's, that's growth to you guys as a team. You guys as a coaching staff being able to find minutes for everybody. And I love that for you guys. And I think not only does it help you now because, you know, you never know when that, you know, number 18, number 19, is going to need to go in there and play major minutes. But also it helps you guys for the future, right? You know, some of you guys are going to find forever and you're also training up the next generation at the same time. And I think it's also a testament to the work that our players themselves put in. We have some really, you know, dedicated individuals who want to grow individually as well as a team. And they're also just really good about being just great teammates regardless of whether we get them in or not. Because there were a few games where not everyone got to play this weekend. You know, as a coach, you never want that. But there are just certain matchups that do better against certain teams. I think that while we have such a diverse and incredibly talented roster, you know, some players do match up better to, you know, certain teams. And so in the instance where maybe you don't get as much playing time as you did in another game, there are players of really understanding and very, very helpful, you know, on the pitch and off the pitch as well. I think that there were a couple of individuals who, you know, didn't get the most minutes this weekend. But when they're not on, they're pointing out stuff, you know, from the sidelines, they're helping the coaches make calls. Like everyone is truly pitching in wherever they are needed and giving, you know, a maximum effort regardless of whether they're on and off the pitch. And it's really a testament to how incredible our players are. And I'm really just lucky to have the mom and team. Absolutely. I think that's can be someone of the like the hardest things to do as a coaching staff is not only manage like who's in the game, but also keeping, you know, in check the people that aren't in the game, right? Because some people don't really come from that athlete background of like, hey, this person's better than me. They're obviously going to warrant those minutes, right? And, you know, it's not always, you know, fair, right? It's like, I want to play too, but sometimes it's time to win, right? And some people don't really come from that background. So it's a testament to you guys, a testament to your team and the mentality of, you know, wanting to just go out there and win and doing whatever it takes to do so. So I guess for heat, I guess the big question is going forward, right? So I guess my next question for you is kind of a broad one, but what makes this heat team different? Like what do you see from this team that you really think makes the team stand out and ready to go make another run at a title? Well, I think that we have just kind of built off a very strong foundation that we laid in previous years. I mean, even last year, I mean, we were rolling up with pretty much our core that we have today, but with like, our tapeers and rosters and we just kind of, you know, grunted through it and worked through it and established a really nice foundation. And we have taken that and with the new additions that we have this year, we have just tried to build. And so I wouldn't necessarily say it's different in the sense that it's like, changed, but we're different in the sense that we have grown more. And we have, you know, that solid core that we've developed and then we've got some new additions from the college game last year. A couple who actually joined us for the tournament for Nationals last year as well from UTSA. They were unable to go and hopped on our roster at the last minute, but we, you know, invite UTSA kids out to practice and so we had been playing with them a little bit, right? You know, not a crazy amount, but they kind of had a totip into our system and now we kind of get to, you know, see what they really can do. Like Riley, for instance, has just developed so, so much. I really, you guys know that you guys had them on last week, but one of my favorite players on our team, not that I have favorites, but just like the energy that they bring. And then we also added on like, like Pete's energy is incredible. Also the height is really a big difference. Now that I say that, we are historically a short team. So being able to have some larger bodies like Pete and Riley and, and obviously we've had Casey, you know, one of our taller players as well. It's really nice to be able to see how that it's in with our, our play style as well versus, yeah, we've just historically been a shorter team. So that has been really helpful. We also picked up Melano, who just graduated, Elizabeth Violba has been absolutely incredible. I'm going to start shouting out every single person on our team if I have the chance. It's just the energy that we carry now after kind of a, I don't say a rock easy season last year, but it wasn't, you know, one of Pete's best to date for sure. We had a lot of growing pains. And I think that the tenacity that our team showed growing through those and then the energy that we have received from the new additions from college. I don't know. There's just a different energy about it, you know. I think what you guys doing is incredible. And I'm also very jealous because you guys keep taking the people we want to bring over here. I'm sorry. But it's definitely nice to like have people to constantly look up at and try to, try to match in some capacity. So there's that. But I think, I think something that's very important and you've mentioned it a lot in this podcast is building a culture, right? And different teams that mean something different, right? For some teams that means, you know, win at all costs. For some teams that means, you know, we're a group of friends that want to win. And for some teams it's something in between. And I think it's so important to have that culture builder or the culture people that are willing to just buy in and play with each other and do what everyone else on that team wants to do, right? Because I've seen it too many times at both the college level and the club level where you have half the team that's like, over competitive and ready to win. And then the other half is like, I'm here to hang out with my friends. And it's so hard to mesh that when that's a thing. And so I guess my next question for you is when it comes to, because obviously you've been there since, you know, roughly the foundations of he, what does it mean to you to be able to build a culture like that? And what steps are the most important when it comes to doing so? That's a good question. I feel like there were like two arrows of heat. There was like the pre-COVID era of heat, which was such a good team in its own right. You know, that's where I think you had mentioned it earlier. There was more season veterans on that version of heat. And then, you know, just more people who have played together. I can't remember. I'm pretty sure he was created like right off of a world cup here, our first world cup here. And a lot of, you know, chemistry had sparked on the national team between some of the players who ended up coming over to heat. And then, I can't speak to kind of everything that happened in that era, but it was just, it was kind of different. And then you had COVID and then you had kind of the rebuilding years. And that's kind of what we've kind of been sifting through. I know that we won in 2022 with kind of a mixture of the original pre-COVID heat and then some newer additions from, you know, recently college grads like myself. And after that, it was basically like, all right, we're trying to rebuild not completely, but it was a little rough for a couple of years. But then we, Sammy ended up taking over and Sammy and Jackson really worked to kind of get us back on track to build a really good foundation. And then ever since then, we've just been kind of cultivating with the addition of the incredible talent from the college pool. And I think that really they're kind of the backbone of the culture that we have tried to create and cultivate and their energy that they bring and very, very important to that. Sammy, as a head coach, one of his main goals and main focus is always on player development. What really drives him and his, you know, love for coaching is getting to help all of the younger players kind of grow into themselves. And so just that kind of atmosphere of we're here to push you, but we're also here to help you grow and help not only as like, you know, individual growth, but as a team as well. And it's just really blossoming into things really cool, I think. I think we're going to do some cool things hopefully moving forward. So I'm excited for where it has come and I'm excited for where we're going. I love that. I love everything you guys do. From like a player perspective and as like a human perspective, I think it's so cool. You know, obviously we're the cross-town rivals, but it's like I'm always like rooting for you all on the side. I want to root for everybody, you know, but especially you guys, especially with the tight thing that we have, you know, even though we hate each other when we're playing, it's like, we know you guys too well to like hate you guys. No, it's always like a good, I don't know how to explain because like you said, it's a very competitive environment on the field for sure, but it's, I love just getting to and a key key with you guys afterwards and just the camaraderie and, you know, I just, yeah, I don't feel that way about a lot of teams that we play, but, you know, playing you guys, it's nice that we have, you know, a friendship amongst our team. For sure. But I guess moving forward, I think we're really excited to see what you guys bring to the field and the win. You know, nationals comes around, right? There's a lot of bodies that, you know, me and Brandon have been speculating. It's like, okay, you know, when this person comes back or when this person re-lost yours, what happens to the other people, right? And, you know, what ends up happening with this team? Because we know there's bodies that, you know, we'll get rostered that weren't rostered this week. And we know there's bodies that are out there that we don't even know if you'll pick up or not. So it's like, Brandon and I are always speculating and I think that's the fun of the sport. It's like there's so many people out there still that you never know what could come of it, right? You all took, you know, Jack Wong out of retirement last year and me and Brandon were like, you know, like dumbfounded at that. Where did that come from? And we're like, I mean, it makes sense, but it's like, dang, I wish we knew. That was so fun for us. Jack's awesome. Jack's awesome. Not for everyone else though. But anyways, I appreciate having you on. I could sit here and talk to you for hours, I think. But I think we're going to move it forward. And last thing I want to say is make sure you all support Bailey's vlog thing that she does on her YouTube channel. It's really good, especially for some of you. This kind of getting into vlogging and editing and stuff like that. And it looks good. I have no idea what I'm doing, but it's fun. So definitely go support that and make sure that you're all over it and support, you know, heat and everyone, your local team, whoever, you know, if there's something happening, show up. Or even if you see an Instagram post, like just like it, like it's not that hard, it takes two clicks and you're done. But I think most important thing is we just keep supporting each other in the community because you know Everyone hears everyone's pessimism about how the sports gonna die and the I mean out of we don't let it Absolutely, so keep pushing everybody Bailey I appreciate having you on and We'll keep talking we'll keep talking about the rest of the Tournament because there were in fact other teams there. I have Brandon with me Brandon made it for home from work. We're all good and dandy um, and yeah, we're gonna get this thing rolling We're gonna talk a little bit more about the rest of the tournament because obviously there are more teams there than just heat So I think Uh, if you're cool, let's start with the college level Sure So at the college level there were five teams that showed up um, we had UCLA coming in from far away. We had UTSA. We had Sam Houston. We had University of Texas and we had Texas State and What I will say is I thought there wasn't like a clear number five Like all of these teams really really fought and really really competed with each other at every stage right Maybe except for a couple of these games But I think for the most part You know, I want to shout out UCLA especially because I mean traveling all this way To what could be debatably the toughest region to come in and just play against That's not easy to do and they came out here and they I mean they fought you know, they had They beat UTSA first thing in the morning in the freezing cold You know, they kept it within a four-position game or four-goal gaming in Sam Houston And I mean some of these other games that kind of let get ahead ahead of themselves But then they were in a golden goal situation at the end of day one Against Texas after having you know three grueling games getting back into the cold in almost knocking out Texas is a hard thing to do Yeah, I mean they outscored Texas there as well Exactly and quad ball points Right and I just thought overall they have a very good young core right obviously they don't get a whole lot of experience Getting to play with different people or getting to play with you know people they're not used to but um You know, they were very They they seem very disciplined when what they were doing they were very receptive to what their coaches were telling them to do And I really like watching them play. I mean they obviously had their Their stars right they had their their top top end players Who we're doing the thing but they had a lot of you know good role players and overall they were just good people Like they were fun to talk to they were definitely you know They weren't there to come in and rain on everyone's parade they were there to just come out hasn't fun and try something a little new But playing against different people Mm-hmm Yeah, I mean apparently this is their first like official tournament all year they played four games beforehand Again, it's lost boys And so coming in I was very impressed Uh, we played heat during that first game I believe we walked over and we're like what's the score? And I expected UTSA to be blown them out and it was a hundred to forty and I was uh UCLA was up and I was like whoa Or maybe not maybe not maybe it was like 80 to 40 but nonetheless Yeah, pretty impressive by them I think UCLA's always had a pretty good program um They haven't been in the limelight much recently, but you could tell they have some good players and some good coaching over there It's definitely I think there's the support from the club division is always kind of been there and you know As some of the other you know Strauss ended falling in the West. I think You know Lays that is the is the scene that needs to stay alive if if you know anything's gonna keep going for them Yeah, there's just the most players out there Mm-hmm, but yeah, I know I was talking about it before but I mean The cold out there was unreal Yeah, I I don't think I've ever been that cold at a tournament before I mean it feels like was one degree on Saturday Yes, and it just it felt like it just kept getting worse like Even though like it got better during the day like once once it started getting you know The sun started to set it just got bad again really bad yeah, and it was just it was hard to play through because You know in quad wall. It's it's hard like you could say like yeah, where gloves, but it's like In quad wall, I feel like like football gloves don't help like it only I don't I almost feel like I played horse with gloves on And it's also like if you aren't constantly wearing them it's so different Oh, you actually finally put them on Because like if I were to wear glove it would have to be like with my offhand like the broom hand Because like I can't do it with with my ballhand, and I don't know what it is and you look he just looks goofy with only one Absolutely, I think you look goofy no matter what sometimes depending on what gloves you're wearing yeah, but I think nonetheless It was a great tournament. I think Amanda Dallas Christian Barnes Jacob Erlich Trevor Smith And it could come all the you know all the volunteers that were there that were helping out the tournament Daniel Williams Charlie Lou, you know everyone out there that was just there to volunteer like It's great especially because you know almost everyone I listed there You know doesn't live in Texas and none of which live in Dallas So I just think that's a really cool thing that that we have so many people just coming out willing to Support the tournament. Well, there was one one volunteer from Dallas, Joshua Dunning On you that's true, that's true And so I mean, but he's he's the only one I believe Exactly, so I mean it's just a great thing, but I guess moving forward You want to talk let's talk some other club. Let's go let's go From here from bottom to top the next team I think in I guess in terms of this progression for me I think the fourth best team is there this weekend was It's a toss up because I mean obviously they beat Texas, but at the end of the day the end of their day with like seven people who are available to play Yeah, and honestly having a you know, I refer the game Them versus Texas state at the end of the day where you know Don't waste your time watching that game. It was a Let me you know, it was like a Get the ball after the score and then rip a shot because they didn't want to get hurt But they also didn't want to forfeit and lose their chance at getting a bid it was rough But I think for the most part UTSA has a Core that can compete with a lot of teams like they have a lot of You know, I wouldn't say a lot, but they're the youth that they do have is quality Yeah, for sure and they have the right pieces to start building back up They just need the numbers and it's easier said than done, but just getting getting bought These for these all right so that you know Sam Watson Amy Guvea, you know, people like that aren't having to play the entire game and then I mean I've inevitably you know Amy Guvea wasn't able to finish the tournament You got her in the first game Exactly and like forcing these people to put it through major minutes especially someone like Amy who is someone who absorbs so much contact consistently You need people there that You know can take those minutes and I know they had other people they have other people that just weren't available that day But I think for the most part you just got to go after bodies and you know I was trying to talk to some of the you know the rookies over there and some of the the younger pieces like Hey, like this is this is how you do this right? It's it's easier than just like Like it's so hard to sit there at a table and Find a random person that you've never met before and say hey you should come join this with me It's so much easier when you're in class and you got someone next to you and say hey you should come do this thing with me tomorrow Right someone you already have a relationship with people that are your friends your roommates That's where recruiting is done right you might get a couple people from tabling But it's also wildcard people random people that you don't know that you don't know the personalities Someone is pretty bad at quad ball either bad at quad ball or bad personalities that you just don't like having around Yeah, that is true. Yeah, when you get someone you're like okay, they're like okay at quad ball, but they're just toxic Exactly or they like even some people that are like super athletic, but then they're just jerks Yeah Yeah, I think it's interesting um You said you TSA is forth for you why Why not just I'll be honest I think I mean I do think like if they were to play a real game against CLA I do think they would have beaten them like even at the end of the day like if they tried Assuming like everyone you know would have come out of that game healthy and everything Well, I mean it was their first game of the day though. I feel like that's their best chance of beating UCLA and they got There's quite a lot of that's fair. I mean and I guess so I was mostly just saying forth as in like we are to talk about UCLA So forth out of the remaining cool. Oh, okay, but I mean, yeah, I do think I mean it does. I didn't get to watch the UTSA game. I felt like every time UCLA was playing, I was doing something else on another pitch. So give it a mind, we are recording this the day after the tournament. So we're really only able to go off of what we saw with our own eyes. And when Brandon and I are constantly being pulled one way or another for every single game, it's kind of hard to be able to focus on the things we actually want to focus on. Yeah, we pretty much resting, commentating or playing or coaching every single time slot. Literally, I did that for every single time slot this weekend, except for. Yeah, my schedule wasn't that bad. But. I don't know. I don't know. Moving forward though, the team that I think I'm the most excited for out of all the college teams is Texas. For me, it comes down to the effort. They have a very young core when it's all said and done. They have a couple people who are about to graduate. They have Salt and Floss who's going to graduate. I don't know exactly, but I know they have a couple of bodies that are going to graduate. But the main core of their team are juniors or sophomores. Just seeing the sheer volume of player difference from when we saw them in November to where they're seeing them now is huge. And getting to see them develop, you know, different players develop where you have, you know, you know, necosolinas is, I think they're best player and really showed it this weekend, right? Peter Mosqueda, amazing player. But then you have other people stepping up in positions to help them win games. I thought their beaters really stepped up. You know, I just like really watching this team play. I like seeing their progression. I think they have great leaders over there. They have good coaches. And I really just love, you know, time after time again, they keep getting better. And they're really trying to do so, right? They really want to win. They really wanted to get better. And they're not trying to see their program die. And they're really putting in that effort. I see them all the time on Instagram posting about how they're recruiting somewhere. And even if, even if it's like, you know, dang it, we, we ended up losing it. It didn't work out. At least they're putting in every little bit of effort to make sure it doesn't happen. I disrespect that. And I appreciate the effort from someone who wants to see them continue to succeed, I guess. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Just someone who loves the sport wants it to continue in their area. That's great. Absolutely. I really like this Texas team. I think they have a lot of positive people over there. They have a lot of, you know, great alumni that come back and help them all the time. And I think they're in a good spot to, you know, continue to grow and continue to get better. You know, at the end of that UTSA game, there was a little bit of just like, you know, in their UTSA game that ultimately knocked them out. They just had a lot of problems staying out of the box at the end of the game. Yeah. Really throughout the hustle. It was, and it wasn't even like bad, bad cards or anything like that. It was just them trying to make a play and it just didn't work out. I'm going to tell you, you'd say it was getting pissed off. It just about every single card. And I was like, guys, y'all got a chill. That's something I'm talking about. Nice. Yeah, I will say that score was 171 65, you to say one. It was golden goal at the end of it. I don't know if I would describe it as exciting because it was just like cards on either side of a flying and people were taking advantage of it. But I think a player that really stepped up for me, this isn't on UT side, but UTSA is Aiden Delarosa. I think like, when we first saw him, we were like, man, that kid's got some potential. You know, like he's pretty athletic. He seems like a good dude. And I feel like in that UT game specifically, you could see him like, he was on the field. And I was like, who is that guy? Because like, he knows how to play some quad ball. And it was Aiden, you know, the rookie who's, who's out there just kind of leading on the field. And I really, really respected it. And I just thought it was awesome to see. I don't know what like Dylan Farrow is doing over there, but obviously he clearly loves quad ball as well. And I think he's a great role model for the kids. And he's making Aiden really, really good, really fast. So I liked that. Absolutely. They have a lot of, you know, rookies over there, right? They have Aiden, but then they also have, you know, a couple of their bodies that are all just kind of growing together. And ironically enough, they're all from the same area. That's pretty cool. So I think that's super cool too, but. I just want to see them continue to get better and continue to grow because. You know, they were put in the tough situation, they were put in the tough situation going into just last year, especially, but. Even more so this year. Yeah. I just want to see them, you know, continue to work, right? I think they have, you know, building blocks to keep, to get back up to what they want to be. It's just a progression thing. I mean, I don't know who, how many people are graduating after this year. But no matter who it is, I think that, you know, as long as they keep this young core of, you know, freshman players that want to play and want to keep going, then I mean, there's always a chance. Definitely some, some heated stuff in their, their. Roll over and die game against Texas State. It definitely got really there. It was not even though it was a throw away. It was just bad stuff on both sides. Like people were doing really things. We saw, I saw people like throwing body parts that they shouldn't have been throwing body parts around unnecessarily. People were cussing at each other. Throw away game. Just because people were just frustrated with each other and. That's ridiculous. I thought it was, it was bad on both sides. It got to a point where, you know, we had, there were a couple people just, like, you know, cussing back and forth. And I just, I stopped the game right then and there. I pulled both coaches and I said, this happens again. We're getting right parts out. Like it's, I just wasn't going to allow that to happen. I wasn't going to allow each team to just like unravel out of hand over a game that doesn't matter. Yeah, that's crazy. That is a weird one to get mad during. I guess that's a good segue to talk. Well, let's talk Sam Houston. Okay. Just because I guess save the team that won for last, right? Yeah. But Sam Houston, I think, has, you know, obviously Brandon and our little bias when talking about Sam Houston, because we've seen these kids over and over and over again. But Sam Houston, I think, is developing players at an unreal pace. When you look at, you know, obviously, you know, the eyes go towards Andrew Costan, Spencer, Kintana, who. I mean, rightfully so are the stars for this team. We got to talk about Spencer real quick there. He got at least 27 goals this weekend. That's an actual stat from quad ball one. And I'm sure there was some that might have been missed here and there. So at least 27, that's crazy. Right. And that's like, and a lot of those goals aren't like easy goals. It was Andrew's confidence and Spencer to just throw it up and let Spencer make it move. And, you know, in the college game, obviously, I mean, that can work a lot of times, especially when you see like a team, they're like, they're blowing up a play or when your beaters blow up a pay. And you just let your best player, like your best player to create a shot, go create a shot. And when you have someone who's as dynamic as Andrew, you have to, you have to put all your resources towards guarding him. And at least Spencer in a favor will match up in a one on one or a two on one that Spencer can win a lot of time. Yeah. But I guess as a coach for this, this team, like tell me kind of what you've been seeing, like, not necessarily like behind the scenes or anything that like, you know, people wouldn't know. But like things that you think are important things to note about this team. First off, one thing that is, you know, I think a blessing, but also sometimes occurs is every single player on the roster, trust every single other player on the roster. And I say that's a curse sometimes because it sometimes they do put each other in bad positions where like, Haley Geiger, who's like a smaller player, they're going to give her the ball and like expect her to drive on someone and don't call them or something, right? Not going to happen most of the time, but then you have situations where they'll give it up to, you know, Bailey Wallace who gets it to Spencer and then Spencer scores. An important thing to note is that most of those goals by Spencer weren't just created by himself, but other people were assisting him on a lot of those goals. Another thing too is everyone's willing to sub really quickly, which again, sometimes that's a blessing, sometimes it's a curse. And this weekend in particular, I was worried about them getting gassed and they just really didn't like towards the end of the day they played how many games probably six at the very least. And I don't know if, you know, our listeners watch that. Call it. but they were tired, but they weren't guest. And they fought till the very last minute. I was early like on the sideline about to cry by just seeing how much those kids wanted to keep that game alive and how much fight they had. And so that's a big thing, I think. Even that practices where numbers are a little bit low is getting people conditioned and they're just all willing to take that quick sub and not come out too too late when they're too tired. But then their situation is like David Wright. He needs to stay in the game, right? When it's golden goal for Texas State, he can't be subbing for a rookie. You know, he's got to stay in and we got to get Gabby Lopez out there. And then that's what we chose to do, even though David did want to sub. And I think that they both clutched up a lot. And it kept that game going. I think Texas State took him 10 minutes to score their last goal. And that was just SHSU1 into fight. So that's all the kids. Really, I think Spencer and Andrew are great leaders for them. And they all want to fight for each other. That game was also the first time Texas State called a time out. And it was the first time I saw Spencer, you know, get everyone in the huddle and he started talking. I think that seeing the growth and like these two young men as not just football players, but leaders. It has been very, very nice. And it's making the team just rally behind them. Absolutely. I think, you know, top to bottom. This team is so per talented. And they just they just love being around each other. They love the community that they have. You know, in past years, like we didn't have like we had points where we were close. But it kind of got lost in the mix over a while. When, you know, a lot of people, you know, graduated at the same time. And it took a while to really get that, you know, come rotary back. And now I feel like the strides that they're taking right now is building that up to what it was. In terms of the, like a chemistry off the field type of thing. You know, I, you know, I'm not around as much anymore. I have, you know, a lot going on. But they, they, what I see from the sidelines is just, it's great. And I love seeing that. I'm always going to root for them, you know. And I just love seeing that. Especially, you know, you mentioned the growth of leaders, but also just the growth of people that, you know, like having played for super long or. Are getting their first chances to get real minutes, you know, Maddox, older, gray, or Mo. You'll hear on the sidelines a lot. Really showed up this weekend. Yeah. Look, look better than I've ever seen in play before. Had 12 goals, one more than Andrew, which is, I mean, something to be talked about. And then, you know, you have, you have the development, like you mentioned with. Hey, the guy, but then, Daisy Elfaro, Diakim playing major minutes for this team against one of the best teams in college. You know, most of the, most of the people on Texas state have been playing, you know, longer than us, longer than us, you know, and it's crazy. We're in club. Where it is 30 or second and a half year club, you know, second and a half. So it's like, it's unreal that they're, the amount of fight that they have. You know, I saw Andrew like, I'm going to say, you know, I'm going to say that they're, they're the amount of fight that they have. You know, I saw Andrew like about to top over and like, die, look like, but he just wasn't willing to leave that pitch for anything. And that fight for the fight for his team. And I just love that about this team and, you know, what they're building. Jason, I was so proud of them. And I think that was the first time a lot of these kids have been in like, a really big spotlight. You know, there are a few leftovers from, you know, well, we got to the semi finals back in 2023. But like, that was Andrew and Spencer's first time really getting everyone's eyes on them at a tournament and just showing out in it. It was only like 2 p.m. But it felt like Friday night lights out there with how intense that game was. He had Targo on one side who's a really young player and just very intense versus Spencer and Andrew on the other side. You'd Rey Nunez on one side versus David Wright. It was, it was so fun. I mean, I was just going crazy on the sideline. And it was fantastic. And then Katie Whitney got, I think her catch on the season during that game. And I believe she got two during the tournament. And she's just a seeker that she asked if she could seek it. We just kind of let her do it. And we don't even like, we don't know how to coach her. She just does her thing. She's just like that. And so it's that type of stuff. We're like, it's just someone who wanted to do it for the team and has found success there. Absolutely. Yeah, and I just, I love it, man. I love seeing what you guys are doing and just, you know, keep it up because, you know, we got two months and you never know what can happen. Yes, sir. But I guess moving over to the other side of this final game. I mean, as hard as they fought, it's so hard to beat, you know, a full line of D.A. chasers in college. You know, like that's unreal. Like when you have an, in my opinion, and might not even be opinion, it might be fact, when you have the best player in the college game in David Avila out there. And you have three players who complement him to a tee. It's just, it's so hard to stop that in either a fast break or a set offense. David just the IQ for David is on another level where it's like, it feels like he's always making a difference. Like he's always making the right play, whether it's a shot, whether it's a pass, whether it's a cut. If David is out there, this team is, you know, it's going to be hard to beat this team. But when David is off the field, when David's taking a sub, that's when this team starts to struggle. I'm not going to lie. Just real quick, you said that they're like really good at half court. I low key think they're fast break merchants during a lot of these. That first line's very good at half court and like just they know how to actually play football. But most of the team, I think is just fast break merchants would David kind of leading the pack. That's exactly what I'm saying. Making everything happen. Like I think, I think, you know, that first line David, Targo, Kat and Izzy. I mean, they know how to play together. They played, you know, all summer together. You know, David and Kat have been playing together since, you know, 22 swords. That's my one. And you know, Targo and Izzy have really stepped into those roles. And then you have other young pieces that have stepped up in similar roles. You know, you know, you have your Andy Alexander who's been playing really well this year. You have, you know, Bahuong who steps in, you have chance Cooper who played big minutes in this in this game. But I think for the most part, this Texas state team is extremely talented, especially compared to, you know, what the rest of the field looks like for them going, you know, into April. And I think what's going to hold them back is themselves. You know, I, and I say this with heart because I do want to see them be successful as a team. But the team that's going to beat Texas state when they go to, when they go to nationals is Texas state, right? In this game alone, they had one, two, three, four, five yellow cards. And maybe that works in February, but that's not going to work in April. Yeah, it was also a situation of like, I ref with Daniel and he said he wanted to be a situation where like, the players make the game happen. I don't know if that makes sense, but like, he doesn't want it to be like pushed one way or the other by cards. And so there could have been even more cards if it was a stricter ref who wasn't focused on keeping the game going. I actually prefer how Daniel was wrestling. I prefer it, but, but you're right. You know, you never, you don't get to choose who your HR is and different HRs are going to take things differently. I mean, when you have, you know, people who aren't a coach or a captain coming off the bench to scream at the about a call, you know, at nationals, that's a card. You know, you can't do that. Or when your team is mocking the other team or showboating on the sideline over something they didn't even do because they're just sitting on the bench. You know, they're going to hurt themselves when it comes down to it. And then the problem isn't the leaders. I'm convinced it's not Targonne's key. It's not obvious. It's not hey. It's not their captain's. It's the people on the end of the bench that aren't good enough to get in the game. They're going to screw it up for their team. And that's what it's going to come down to. The people that don't play the game. The people that won't shut up on the bench. The people that were being loudmouts against UTSA when they were getting a game given for free. And Targonne had to scream at the bench after I had already given a warning that these people won't stop going overboard. The people that are going to lose you a national championship and it's going to lose you the best opportunity tech to state has ever had since you know the people we just talked about the Jackson Johnson's the Bailey Fields era. You're going to lose the best opportunity you've had since COVID to really make a championship and win. But I do want to just like kind of harp on Targonne's key a little bit here because you do bring up like he had to tell him to stop that guy. That's such a good kid right there. I mean like there were multiple cards that I think should have been even called against Sam Houston kids. And I would go out there just to see what they're talking about. And the rest would kind of brush him off and he just didn't argue he was I'm just I'm trying to make sure we're all safe out here and just I appreciate that. But yeah, you're right. It isn't really the leaders. And I even saw that like I was watching film earlier and I saw like there was a miss shot and it was just like like it wasn't really done by Texas state players. like. like the same Houston players just miss. And like there was like eight people on the bench, you like erupt and I'm like, dog, it's just a, like it wasn't the defense that caused it. It was just a miss, you know? And so I can definitely see what you're saying. I didn't catch most of the college games Texas state had, but I can definitely see it. - Exactly. And to your point too, like Targonzki, in terms, like when Targonzki got first started playing, that kid was a hothead. That dude would get angry over everything. And just to see the development in him as a human being, as a leader, as a man, I love it. I love what he's gonna be able to do for this team going forward. After all, some of these older heads, finally end up graduating, who knows when that's gonna be. But like just getting to see him blossom as a leader, I absolutely love that. I love who he is as a guy, who he is as a player is unreal. And I think going forward, it's gonna be just as important for them to make sure that they hold onto a leader like that. And continue to blossom other leaders, right? David's not gonna be there forever, Kat's not gonna be there forever. Izzy, Baw, all these people that have been playing Major Ministers for them for the last four years, Brandy, they're not gonna be there in one, two years, right? You have to find other people that are gonna step up in those roles. So getting to integrate someone like Largo into that right now is so important for them. Yeah. And then going into the future is more important to find other people that are willing to do that too. I still can't believe that there was a heated game. You know, in a 22 point blowout that-- - 235 to 10. Yeah, what the hell, man? - And that was also like a game like they, like ETSA, orfitted it at 20 minutes. - Dude, what the heck? Especially when they're all like, well, I guess they're not soldados teammates 'cause the mushrooms are rookies, but man, that's really weird. - It is, but that's all I have to say. Like just, just not being rude, you know what I mean? It's not that hard. Yeah, it's crazy. They have, by far, the oldest team in college yet they're the most immature. - Are you? - Bro, I shouldn't cook too. I'm not even gonna lie. - That's all I gotta say. No hard feelings, just, you know, be better. Moving forward, congrats to Texas State and Sam Houston for earning their bid at, you know, USQ Nationals, both teams secured AD1 bid. And, you know, honestly, a lot of these teams that were also there, I mean, I could, I could make a case for all three of them. Maybe, maybe tougher for like, you know, teams that have been gonna play as many games, but I definitely want to see-- - Well, I want is, I want to see Texas and that D1 bracket. I'll tell you what I mean. - Yeah, I want to see Texas and D1, especially 'cause they were in D2 last year and they were very successful. And I wouldn't mind seeing you two saying D2 so that these kids can get some good experience in. They get to play people who are maybe smaller teams and, you know, like numbers wise, they'll be able to play people that are more at their level. - Especially 'cause then you're not wasting all this money to go out there and play against, you know, teams like Texas State, who, I mean, you just, you know, gave up against, right? You have a genuine advantage because you have, you know, Habitij Arena, who's, I mean, could be the best bidder in college right now. - In college right now. - You know, you know, you have that advantage over just about every team and you're definitely going to have that advantage over every team in D2. But yeah, so moving forward, I guess we should, we should do it how we just did it. Let's go five to one. - Where are cities? - And I want to say this because I feel bad, not because like they got beat, but I feel bad because they were put in a very, very tough position to play against, you know, according to Fast Break news, three of the top four teams in the nation. - Well four of the top five. - Yes. And it's, they put themselves in quite the predicament right there. And I personally, I don't know if I would have necessarily made the decision, but maybe it was the only choice they had. Maybe they didn't have the numbers to go to another tournament. - Well, the thing, I don't think they really care about winning. What they care about is one having fun, right? I think that's their big thing, but maybe not this tournament. What they care about, I think, is getting requirements so they can go to nationals. That's what I assume. - That makes sense. Because I do know that they, you know, going into every game that I ref for them or anything, they mention that they were, you know, they're going to go to open division. They've already, you know, declared that that's what they're doing. Because they're good for them, right? And they have a lot of pieces that, you know, surprised me a little bit this weekend. - Me too. - And the big one I want to shout out is Spencer, Spencer Reisick, over there who played, of course played for Chicago this summer. But I think just is a very good player, played for Pittsburgh in college, and now he's playing at the club, low back back in Wisconsin. - I forgot about that. - Got to talk to him about this weekend. And I really like to see his development out there. I think they have good pieces that they can build around. It's just a matter of getting more. - Yeah. Well, they had a couple that I found out were college players, like last year or the year before. - Yes. - And I was like, really, like, they don't look like college players. They look like club players. - Exactly. And I think as they continue to develop, you know, Zieg Majeski is doing a very good job of just keeping them engaged. I think Zieg's a very good coach for them, especially having to work with people who, you know, maybe not aren't, you know, super coach. I've never been coached before, or, you know, don't have very much sports experience at all on that sideline. And you're kind of having to balance some of those emotions a lot, right? There were a lot of people that, you know, were getting frustrated in some games, right? You know, they were losing by a lot. And then, you know, they do something wrong, get a card, and now they're storming off to the box because, you know, they're upset they got a card, right? - Yeah. And then again, on sportsmen like Conda Cards. - Right. And it's like, you know, that's obviously something you don't want to happen, but it's ultimately, you know, kind of what happens, right? You know, you know, I mean, when you're losing games and, you know, you're losing by 100 to points every game, you know, it's, you know, it's not easy to turn around and say, yeah, I'll shoot up one more time. - Yeah. But they did. - That's a big thing. I mean, they fought every single game regardless of what the score was. And I think that the thing is, I think that they actually like can play a pretty good half-court quad ball. They just can't finish the goals. Like, I never even wear play them. We beat them 145 to 20. I didn't feel like it was that big of a gap because they weren't just doing like, okay, here's one goal and now it's turnover. It was like one, two, three, four passes and then we would play good defense against them. And I think once they get to that next step of just finishing the goals, I think they'll, they'll be able to like develop a lot better. Plus, I don't remember how many people they had. It was probably like 12 or 13. - It was 11. - 11? Yeah. For five games, I mean, that's tough. And their last game of the tournament was actually their, their highest one that they scored in. They got five goals in that one, which was higher than any of their other games. - Yeah, so I mean, their best scoring games were against rain and against rain. So I mean, good on them, good on them to travel, good on them to get tested. And ultimately, it's up from here, right? Because, you know, they're not going to have to play the competition that they had to play here when they get to national. So it's all about, you know, keeping it going, keeping the ball rolling, keeping people engaged, keeping people happy. Because ultimately that's what they're going to do is just go have fun, right? And I'm also aware that they didn't have certain people because flights got canceled and stuff last minute, which is. - Yeah, it was super cold, they said, like winter was affecting flights and stuff up there. - Yeah, super unfortunate for that because honestly, you know, would one person, make the difference in winning a game? No, but it would make the difference in, you know, someone not having to get run into the ground. - Yeah. Because it looked like there was some injuries in that last play against rain, their last game of the day. I hope that they're okay. But they were, they were tired. They were gas. I can tell. - I mean, I would be too. I mean, I've done it. I've done it. We went to Vegas and we did that. Oh, boy. Tough. I mean, I saw you after a chance last summer. - Oh, yeah. - And it was on two games. - Yeah. Moving forward, best of luck to them. I think they're doing good things. I got to talk to, I got to talk to Zeke a little bit about just like what's going on for them. I'm looking at some of their other rosters from previous, you know, series. They have Anna Nelson on their roster at Rust Belt and Brian Melchior, which I mean, that's a big difference. - Oh, that's huge, yeah. You know, Levi Medieros, I think is one of the people that wasn't able to make it out. - Did it make it? - Yeah. - So that's a pretty big name. - Yeah. I mean, Brian Melchior changes a lot of things for that team. - Yeah. - And Anna Nelson, who's a. and MLK player. You know, so like you have people that are coming in and you know they've been talking to me about like you know what they're working on with different colleges up there so nothing but love for them. I just I wish the best for it going forward. But yeah moving into it the team who got fourth which I don't know if many people had this on the bingo car but rain. Nope. Ended up in fourth in this tournament only winning. Well I guess we only won two games as well but there are only two wins where against Bruce saidies where we beat rain. Therefore we would get the tie break. No they want to they want against dice. No dice beat them. They too. No day two they beat that. That's right. That's right. That's right. Maybe they're third then I don't know whatever they are technically technically they be second and dice would be fourth I think then. I guess that's fair either way I already started talking about rain. Yeah. So let's talk. I think for me rain is very much a momentum team. They when they have the momentum they will cook they can beat anybody but when they're down when they're when they're tired when you know things are going their way you know they have superstars and those superstars try to turn into Superman. And it just doesn't work for them all the way right they start taking bad shots they start taking bad drives they turn the ball over. And it's so hard especially because they had low numbers going into this weekend right where they only had what you know 15 16 people total and you know going into the weekend six of which are beaters. So between 10 people which ended up being 11 because past carols started chasing between between 10 people for most of the weekend they had to spell four spots for five different or six different games which is not easy to do and it's so easy to get gassed off of that. I mean I was kind of looking at it like oh no they're missing three of their 5,000 TMEO say players. I'm so disappointed but you know obviously we don't know what this team looks like at full strength yet. We haven't seen that yet and I don't think we will for a little while at least in some nationals and hopefully we do I mean who knows. But I mean this this roster was that without a lot of key pieces you know Darian Mercic Ellis, Sennimore Motto, Riley Usami, Anika Kim like all of which have been on the DA or the US NT right yep or both right. And probably other names too but it's just like when you're missing so many people that you're you know game planning for but then you're also. Having to deal with low numbers and having to force a lot of people into a lot of minutes you see people go down right you know. I hate it you know when we see Ryan Davis go down in two games for them yeah well especially because we're friends with Ryan and Ryan is their leader right in this because their captains are Sennah and Ryan Sennah obviously not being there and then Ryan going down that's that's a tough blow you know. To lose your your leader anytime I've played an tournament and you know Hayden Hayden went down it is just like completely just shit. Oh crap and it's just like it's not even that you're like oh man we're going to lose because we don't have this player it's like a oh man we just lost our leader. And obviously Ryan was still there on the sideline but it's just like not having that calming presence on the field is sometimes really hard to to replace. Yeah I mean obviously we commentate a couple of their games and I think what you just described Ryan as is perfect which is that calming presence someone who can like slow it down. You know like hey guys I know we're more athletic than them but let's like let's play some real quad ball here and yeah when Ryan was out we were like oh snap you know they're going to have to just be athletic again. Right because that's one of the hard things is like so let's say you know all their lines are based off of chemistry right prior chemistry because you know they all live across the country they don't get to you know practice together very often if at all. So when they do get these opportunities to play together it's like that's your time to build chemistry and so like for example if your line is is you know Ryan Davis with Miguel and that's meant because those two have chemistry with each other and then when you lose one of those and put in someone else it's like you know at the end of you know heat rain part two Miguel was in there for a while with Pascaro yeah I mean both of which are are talented chasers individually but neither one knows how to play with each other. Yeah I don't think they've ever played together before that. So it's like you know having to put in those last minute things is so hard especially when you don't have a true third line of chasers there. Yes kind of weird because like I see trying on there and I feel like he just doesn't fit the vibe of the team at all. So he's out there going to go I was like what the heck. Obviously I think that's the game they want against dice where that started happening so like yeah like the proof is in the putting right there. I don't know I just don't just like I look at trying on that team and I'm like you just don't fit to me. Yeah I just think at the end of the day when this team has a full roster is one will actually be able to judge how good they are. Yeah I don't I mean it felt either way like they came in with a small roster but they still felt like they were the cockies people there to me. And I think that that like is what hurts a lot of teams like especially in this matchup based quad ball that we're kind of in the middle of right now. If you aren't like 100% locked in ready to beat the team in front of you you're not going to at this point. And maybe that is just on like the higher end of the club division but I don't know just they have these weird calls to there's some all like horny and stuff like that's just weird. I don't know like we're all grown adults here talking about being horny on the sideline and I get it's just like a play call. But I don't know and that that's for every club team too like all of them have all these crazy calls they're coming up with. I don't even I don't even know what's going to be the point. Yeah like it just means left or right and so and that's not just rain that's that's every team but yeah I don't know I think that you know they came in with 16 but at the end of the day like we only had 18. And dice only had 15 so like it kind of ended up being pretty equal at the end anyways. But you're right I think it is the quality of players that we're missing that makes the difference for rain you already named them. Like Riley who saw me alone I think is like a huge difference maker at this tournament. Riley is just so freaking fast that like he makes a whole defense move on his own and then he shoots and he's a whole different level of getting under your skin. But he wasn't there right I don't kind of glaze in someone I wasn't even there. I don't know I mean I think the Joe and Brian line was kind of my favorite from this weekend just based off of like like people who are they have good sportsmanship but still not a turn of the intensity I think and so that that was fun. Their beaters were playing well I think TJ O'Connor on film from Winter Classic. He was like in my opinion he was low-key getting carried by Christian Barnes but I think that's because they didn't have a whole lot of chemistry before and then at this tournament it felt like they were kind of he was kind of figuring it out. He's playing a lot more with Maddie and Manny during this tournament and so sometimes he was getting cooked but you can see development happening already because you brought it up you build chemistry at these tournaments. And so we'll have to see how that continues but I think I have already seen a little bit which is nice. I think going forward for this team it's just going to turn into how well they can manage their depth right we're mentioning all these people all these people that are missing and you know how much of a difference it could make right like you know if Davis is playing major minutes and that's leading to you know calf you know giving out or anything like that that could just be on the be like I know Ryan runs a lot and is super fit. But you know sometimes that just happens right and you can't prepare for that. I couldn't even imagine Ryan like having that happen to him you know he's right so like Ryan if that happens to Ryan one of the most in-shape people in our sport they can have it to anybody. Just you know having those extra bodies having those extra people you can trust out to go out there and you know not only not lose you the game but go out there and win the game for you right. They had their line out there of you know when they when they ran gule with with mehio out there they were like they were trusting these young guys to go win the game right on the side on the side secret and like thought I was like huh why isn't Miguel in this game right why is it Davis in this game and they're giving different people opportunities to go out there and win the game which I. Real opportunities not not a here's a shot and then I'm going to pull you right real opportunities so that is interesting because like when they were playing heat for the first time I believe like Joe and Ryan met he played so many minutes at the end of that game. I'm in between on it I do think that it ended up being good right because they they ended up being diced the next day. And you know they ended up getting their automatic bid but while it was happening I was just like huh I may why why aren't we something guys definitely. Yeah unfortunately I didn't get to watch the rain dice game because I was graphing next state UTSA at the time so I don't. Very good recollection of that one yet. I'll have to go watch that one on film. It was fun. I was right thing that one It was pretty good Awesome But nonetheless, I mean, I mean we can only just wait I guess to see what happens with rain next I know they're scheduled to go to another qualifier Not sure which one and I don't like which weekend that one is but we'll see them again soon yeah And I guess I'll be horny at that tournament too. I guess so hopefully it would be a little bit warmer. Please for that Hmm, it's crazy even like you know Joe who like losing Minneapolis was like talking about like yeah, this sucks Winchail bro. Yeah, obviously he was like yeah, you know, it's not like you know, he was playing off that You know northern northern boy like oh it's not that bad, you know, but you know you could tell I mean, I was freezing my boat off. I could not feel my hands like literally like the day after like this morning Right, I woke up and I could like my hands are still like a little swollen like at the me - roots like and like I feel like at the bottom of my hand still like when I close my hands just based on how cold it was Yeah, I feel better today, but yeah, they're a little bit more stable and still me too But nonetheless, let's keep it going. Yeah, um, what do you want to talk about next then? Because I just talked about dice since we I feel like that last moment brought up for sure, so dice I really liked how they run their team this weekend I'm sad that you know certain people that were like listed on the roster like a shock the cut us war and weren't actually there Because I think that that made that could have made a big difference But I really like getting to see this roster at least their first line get to play together in person. Yeah You know, I I mean you you get used to watching, you know, Morella Potter Freed play the you know the whole summer together But getting to see them in a club perspective with you know any elite beater in front of them and take K again It just it's so refreshing like it never it never gets old, you know getting to watch great players Play great minutes. Yeah, 100% I mean Mallory was like an amard afterward. She was like the way they moved is just so Different than us and I was like yeah And part of that is like they all are very very high level players and they have them for a long time and like we're kind of Like a lot of us have been middle of the pack for a while. We're just starting to kind of find our footing in club But like like Lindsey in front of you while you're on defense. I you're just like oh my god Like I have to be perfect here, you know, and that's there's not that many people in quad ball That can make you think that like you're not scared, but you're like if I'm not perfect here. This is probably going through a hoop and That's important right that like pressure that they put on you as players who just play such a efficient quad ball Is very important for their game because that pressure doesn't go away and So I mean they had the smallest roster and They really prove themselves this weekend. I mean they beat rain at one point They also beat heat at one point both of which who got the automatic bids and not dice and Heat is the eventual champions of the tournament so You can you can take that you know, you can think whatever you want about that. I mean if they did have a few more bodies I don't know how it would be because having a smaller roster has its disadvantages But it also has its advantages because You had the same four guys playing the entire time and they're all quality and you're never sacrificing quality like they might go out there And have some bad reps but at the end of the day there are bad reps are probably better than most people's good reps and You're just giving them minute after minute like you're not running Leo freed into the ground but He's getting a lot of the bulk of that game and that's pretty important. I mean Molly and And Lindsay of course you also had the Turkish player you talked with her a little bit ashen what was her name? Yeah, her name was Osly crazy like how quickly she was able to just join this team I'm not sure like where she founded maybe through like Mike Lee or one of the other like you know international players But it's really cool that they're able to just go in you know pull someone like that and you know integrate her almost immediately right obviously She's still learning the you know the game of how it's played over here because it's so different than you know she was telling me like it's like the strategy over here is so different And she's still learning like the ins and outs of it right because Playing at IQ a level IQ a so is played so differently like the roles are Almost the same, you know, but different enough to work strategy Yeah, the strategy is different and I know she I know mentioned that they're still working on that But I think for the most part they have a good mix of like you know, hey, this is our US NT line basically And then we have you know people that compliment that right you have Mike Lee who plays who's played at a US NT That guy is so shift Ebro God, he's running at you and you can't even tell which way is this like he's phasing Exactly and then you have like Like young pieces or But then you also have you know older pieces that have just kind of found their their groove with this team right Jason Rosenberg Who you know has been playing for a pretty long while and is just kind of finding their groove back into the sport again Which I'd love to see right Jason Rosenberg playing major minutes and Might I add without a doubt the best flag runner there and one of the best flag runners in the sport now Yeah, I had no idea Jason was like that until we watched film from winter classic and then we were like can we have Jason every single time after that Every single time and then it's like you know max emigrant recent Harvard grad it looks phenomenal out there all their beaters did oh my goodness Top top Exactly so they're definitely doing something right up there They're definitely doing a good job of you know developing people keeping people out there They're definitely practicing together because I mean I have good chemistry like even people that we haven't seen Played together or like haven't got to play see play a whole lot, you know yeah Like take a tree no I was thinking like take K and Shrina Shaw like I've never seen him play together But it felt like they were a well-oiled machine as a beater pair and you could tell they'd been practicing Yeah, take K looks like a different animal out there as a beast I've never like When he turns it on it's like like you know when back in the day when we've like oh jack Wong When he when he's on it's unstoppable Take K's is coach so like You know take like it's crazy like that UT, you know Breadline from you know tape to Jack to Kaiser to you know loud and to Now you know what they have now and it's so cool to see like that progression, you know We mentioned it on the live stream, you know tape was going against his you know padawan Yeah, that was super cool But then I thought other people play them too You know, I really like seeing the minutes Balassa was playing out there. Yeah, I thought you know because I mean it must be hard being Leo Freetz of you know Oh, yeah, pressure there, you know, do I get a chance this game? No, okay cool, you know But Balassa played major minutes for them when Leo needed that break And they were high quality minutes, too. Yeah, I knew she looked really good was one of the best seekers of the weekend Made a lot of clutch catches for them Which is super important for a Leo Freed team because Most of the time Leo Freed is the one that gets sucked into that flag runner game And we've seen that come back to hurt, you know those days because Leo's not chasing But now that they have another flag runner that can trust 100% to go get it. I mean That's that's scary, you know going forward, you know what happens when you know You have in the you have someone who can replace them on that line and Mike Lee or shocked you could have sworn who could who could do that too eventually By the way, I had no idea. I knew you could run that fast Yeah, and it's crazy like dude has that much muscle and is still able to move that fast. I also like their jerseys Uh, I just want to leave. I just want to say that. I thought it was I thought it was pretty clean Yeah, I like their white jerseys a lot Did they have white points or do they just have white? I don't remember seeing black ones But if they did I think it'd be really cool to have like a black jersey with like a light blue Trim on everything I don't know. I would love that or maybe red something like like a color that would pop, you know, uh-huh But it could it had to be black and red right? I mean they're they're dice They're like gambling themed right? Oh, there it is. Yeah, I used to be red. Yeah, it has to be Anyways, though I I mean it's only up for this team. It's like The my favorite thing about going into nationals for this year is that I don't know who's gonna win Yeah, I think the last couple years. It's like you knew For the most part who is gonna win or the only new order is gonna win last year I mean that was yeah The year before it's like I think it was pretty obvious who's gonna win that one which is boom I was thinking it wasn't like obvious, but it was like you know who's gonna make the final Yeah, there you go. The gap after the finals there was like pretty big. Is it crazy to think that like that boom train win was two years ago? Like what not even did you get a year and a half? Like it feels like that year feels ancient. I did for real. That nationals was man. That was crazy. But yeah. But already, you want to talk about us? Sure, do you want to talk about, you know, the last I guess. OK, because they won and you already kind of talked to Bailey earlier. So you can go over what y'all went over and then get in their coach. Yeah, first off would be rain, which I was very, very happy with the game plan. Coming into this weekend was to beat rain. I know that sounds kind of dumb, but we took our first game again. It's heat very easy. We sat some players and you know, we we tried against heat, but they whooped us and that was just kind of how it was. We weren't upset about it though, because we knew we would get the win against Bruce at his next, which is 145 to 20. We knew that was going to happen. And we just spent that whole game doing something Ryan Davis told us to do on the podcast. I don't remember. He talked about being locked in during those games to stay locked in for later games. And so we did exactly that and we knew we could take rain and we did it. I was very, very happy about that. I mean, all of us were ecstatic. But what I think it kind of went to rain's benefit, not only because of how it ended up in the bracket, you know, with them getting into the final and with an automatic bid, but I think he made some of the other teams kind of sleep on them a little bit because they had already played them earlier in the day. Anyways, after that though, I think stars of the show, you're obviously going to have your Hayden boys. But like Carlos, Alarba and Joan boys, they were bananas during that game towards the end of it. I remember we had, you know, we two non-binary players, two males and two females in it. Everyone was like, brand and kid in there, get in there. You know, we're technically playing like, you know, four max one way or whatever. And I was just like, no, let them cook. And that line just, they finished it, right? We had a good catch by Chris Dorsey that got us back in the game and they finished it. I was very proud. This is one of like the first weekends I've ever had where I just felt like I'd retire roster, top to bottom, like letting people play, get some buckets. I mean, you went in there and you put Austin crews on his back. And that was like the only time I saw Austin crews play the whole day, which was surprising. I forgot to mention that earlier when we were talking about rain. That was kind of surprising to me, but I don't know. I mean, it felt really cool to get a win over rain, especially like two weeks ago, we beat the number one team in the nation at that time, which was boom train. They got moved down. Rain got moved up. And then we just dethroned another number one team. I mean, based on this weekend, I assume they're not going to be number one anymore. And so that feels really cool, especially like after years of heartbreak, right? I will say none of us were getting cocky after that, though. We're going to have to keep playing our game and playing hard and practicing and just working out and trying to keep up with all these other top teams because we're at the top five right now, but it's really hard to kind of keep up with the rest of them, I will say. I think the biggest difference in us as like a team and us in like shifting our mindset is that, you know, a lot of teams go into a tournament in one of two mindsets. It's, I want to have fun or we have to win. And for us, I feel like you guys as coaches and, you know, leadership very much help us create an environment where we can do both. And, you know, we're super ultra competitive. We're ready to win, but it's not the end of the world if we lose. Yeah. And, you know, you saw that with some teams out there this weekend that it's like once they lost, they shut down. They didn't talk to people. They were, I mean, sometimes a little rude. And they just, what they, you know, they go to the corner. And that happens every year, right? There's always that one team that's just like standoffish that is unwilling to talk to people that's unwilling to like unlock in. And that makes it so hard for people to just like enjoy their time, dude. Like obviously I enjoy traveling with my teammates. But one of my favorite things about quad ball is being able to go and talk to people that I talk to once a year. Yeah. And it's like now. And then when it's like when people are just doing that and they're just kind of like, you know, not associating with the rest of the people there. It just kind of kills the vibe sometimes. Yeah. And, you know, especially when you lose a game and everyone's sitting there and, you know, you're upset because you lost and rightfully so you lost the game. But it's not the end of the world, right? Yeah. You go out there, have some fun, enjoy your time and go from there. You know, I like that you said it because I feel like us and Dice were both pretty good about like getting out and talking to people and like even in our game, they were beating us for a majority of it in the end of winning. And like I just feel like both teams were still having a good time while remaining intense. And so I do want to shout out Dice for that, especially like Lindsey Morella was getting pressured by Sean Allen of like a 19 year old on our team. He's running out of it with his tongue out. That was hilarious. And like our whole team was just busted out laughing all the sideline and Lindsey's like running away. And her team's like, Lindsey do something and she's like, I can't. And it was just such a funny moment. And like all of us are just having a blast. I feel like we hung out with Mike Lee a good amount behind the camera because we were all commentating together and he was doing the camera and stuff. And just to like go with your point, I feel like it was very friendly and just like there was camaraderie with them. Even though I feel like I've never met, like I don't think I've ever talked to any single person on their team before this weekend. Oh yeah, it was crazy to me. I had a conversation with Leo Fried and it's like, I mean, obviously this dude went to Harvard. It was like insanely smart. And I just had a conversation with him. And it's like the speed at which he processed everything I said was kind of ridiculous. Like I'd like tell him something and then he'd process it immediately and say something back. And like I haven't even had time to process what I said myself. And it's like, it's crazy. How quickly his mind moves and then like getting a talk to all those people over there. Because I mean, for years right there on that Warriors team that was just kind of like, do I really want to go over there? Yeah, we were kind of scared of them even though they weren't like. They weren't like people. But it's like they kind of just like, they were just kind of keeping themselves right. They were staying within their team. And now that they're on this other team, it's like, there's maybe a little bit more of a friendly vibe. It just felt really good. It felt good to have new people out here. We keep saying it. Bailey said it earlier. Like it's like it's great playing against heat, but it also sucks only playing against heat. Yes. And it's fun to have, you know, you know, Boone Train came down a couple of weeks ago. You know, all these three other club teams came down this weekend. And it's just it's just a breath of fresh air to just talk to new people. And I mean, I'm even more excited now to go to Seattle in a few weeks to go down even more people. 100%. Man, yeah, I mean, and while we're on this topic before we get into like our last game of the day, which were the tournament, which was against heat, like, I feel like that's where I'm mehio to like, he's always out there talking to all of us and like, it feel, I, this is weird, but like, I feel so cool when he's like choosing to come up and like talk to me and just like, it feels like we're friends. And I just, that's what I love about cobble. You brought up earlier. There's some people you talk to once a year. I might have not even talked to mehio in 2025. But our relationship from 2024 was still there. And so I love that community aspect of quad ball. Yeah, I love mehio. Man, that dude is just a humble guy. It's crazy. Like when I first, when I first started playing against him at Crate and I was like, damn, that dude's an asshole. I hate playing. It's that guy. And he didn't even do anything. He didn't do anything. He just hit the crap out of people. And it's an aura. It's an aura about him where, you know, he was the harder ever. It felt like it definitely felt like it when he hit you. But it's just the nicest guy off the pitch. And it's like, you'll never know that unless you talk to him. Yeah, I love that dude too. But yeah, going into our last game, because we, so we went heat then, burst it is, then rain, then dice. And then it was nighttime. Then the next day was heat again, which I think that was the most we've like ever locked in to try and beat heat ever as a team. And I mean, like in the history of our club, like our clubs existence before we were the copperheads, we were the Southwest Alliance, right? We're probably like, oh, and 20 against heat, maybe like maybe even more than that. And so I have expected everyone to kind of show up day two and just be like, all right, we're done. But everyone was just, we're in warmups. And it felt like they're ready. Everyone wanted our, at the time, we thought it was going to be a rematch against dice if we were to beat heat. And obviously we didn't, but just the intensity at which we played defense, you could tell. I mean, it was the lowest scoring game of the entire tournament. it. That score was 100, right? So we held him the four goals before stitch on pitch. It was 3-4 or maybe it was like 2-4. They held us to pretty low scoring as well, but we were just so locked and I could tell my team was just so freaking hungry to try and get a win over them. And even though, you know, we didn't do it, we went through like two full rotations on the hoops of heat not scoring. And so I can feel us inching closer and closer to them. And there in my opinion and according to polls, I think now the number one team in the sport. And so I think like while we hate playing them, they are a great benchmark to playing against. And I think you could tell that a lot of them are starting to respect this more too. Like I felt like Sammy Garza, when you're going through like high five lines, you know, everyone's kind of like a good game, good game, good game. It felt like he was just so genuine about it. He's like, good job, good job y'all. You know, and like, I feel I could feel the respect and I really appreciated that. But it just, it felt good. Even though we only scored three in that game, keeping them to only seven, especially when they went in double drains, they more than double drain score in the final, right? It was 155 to 60. So double their qualifal points and a catch. It felt good knowing that like we held them to such a low number. Yeah, no, I think you said it best. And I'm not, I'm not going to say here and repeat what you said. I just want to say I love this team, man. I really do feel like we, everyone knows their role. Everyone knows what they're meant to be there to do. And I think people are noticing that because of the chemistry we have, because of the next band up mentality, because of the, you know, we, everyone's got each other's back, no matter what, you know, we got, you know, some teams go out there and run, you know, they might bring 21, but they might run 15, 16. We run 21 and we're proud of it. And that's what I love about our team, man, is we got fight from one to 21. Yeah. No matter what happens, we can smile afterwards and go to Chili's and, you know, enjoy it. I mean, Chili's meeting a sponsorship, man, we, we, we, we, we, we spent too much money at your restaurant as a team. We have spiked the Chili's economy by ourselves. We're the reason it hasn't gone bankrupt. We'll be expecting that patch within the next month. So the patch is crazy. But nonetheless, I mean, obviously we can sit here and talk about our team for days. Yeah. But I think I want to say one name before we wrap this. And I think this is one of my favorite players that I get to play, that I haven't gotten to play with up until this year, but Tanner Bonheimer is one of my favorite teammates right now. Me too. Yeah. It's already based on like, you know, never even gotten to practice with us, right? Came over from playing with Arizona State. You know, I first started getting to watch him when he was, you know, chasing for their D2 championship in Philly. And it feels like he's just already immersed into our team. Yeah. Off of, you know, spending time with us for what three total months. Oh, yeah. Yeah. You right. It was really three days total. And it's just like, like this dude just comes in. It feels like as a professional, you know, like comes in is not demanding anything. It's just willing to just come in work, willing to come in and be friends with us. And that's just what I love to see. Like we were just able to just bring in someone like that's so talented. That effortlessly, he's not coming in trying to ego minutes. He's just coming in trying to play a role and have fun. Yeah. And that's what I'd love to see out of him. And, um, yeah. I was talking to Chase about the earlier. I was like, bro, Brianna and Tanner joined us back when we were like, we're just a small little team. And that was only a month ago. They were there before the shame and the four not even dude. That's two weeks ago. Yeah. It was yeah. That's so crazy. But crazy. Yeah. No, you're right. You're right. It was fun. But, um, yeah. So what did you talk about with Bailey about heat so far? Yeah. So a lot of what I talked about was, well, one I was trying to learn a lot more. Because like obviously the last episode, we talked a lot about their season. You know, we talked about what they've done so far. We talked about, you know, preparation differences. And with Bailey, I wanted to talk more about heat as a culture and heat, you know, their origins of heat. What makes heat stand out? How do you immerse a team with people born in the 90s? People from this 2004, you know, the modern era of players, you know, pre-COVID, post-COVID, people from the Big Bang and people from 2004. It's like, that's a long time. So it's just, it's really cool to see how they are doing their thing because, you know, we, you know, we talked to Ryan Davis the other week about like how they run their team. And I feel like he has that same mentality too. But at the same time, they're all so close and they're all such good friends that like, it doesn't feel like they're being hard on each other. It doesn't look like it. It's like they're all still at a tournament smiling, having a good time, talking to everybody, enjoying themselves. And while also still having that same intensity when it comes down to it. Yeah. And I think that them as a coaching staff have done a great job, right? Bailey laid it out. Their coaching staff as Sammy as head coach, assistant coaches are Mel and Cortez. And then chase their coaches, Jay and beating coaches is Bailey. So, and I think they they've done a great job of keeping everyone level, keeping everyone's minds in it. And just kind of writing the hot hand, you know, they have too many people on that sideline that are talented to just have everyone have the same six people go in and close that a game. Yeah. Right. And I think, you know, if the lion, if you know, if Sammy's having a hot game, let's say I'm again in the game, if Cortez gets in there and hits, you know, two buckets, why are you take, you know, don't take him out of the game, right? But at the same time, everyone under this over there understands their role. Hey, if, you know, if, you know, if someone gets in the game, it's because they're supposed to do their role and then either keep it rolling or get out, right? Yeah. Get in there, get, play as hard as you can, know what you're there to do and, and just win. Like, that's what they want to do. They want to go out there and win, but they're doing it while having fun. You know, I think this heat team is deeper. Like, obviously, maybe not as much, you know, the one, once upon a time, Daniel Williams was on the team, once upon a time, Miguel Asparzo was on this team, but right now, I think they have the deepest team that I've seen out of them in a long time. Chemistry wise, it's gotta be two. Exactly. Like, I talked to Bailey about, you know, obviously, she's played with Jackson since, you know, the Stone Age is right. And it's just like being able to play with one beat or for that long and still finding ways to improve is so impressive to me. Yeah. I really admire the way that heat has their program going now because, you know, in the past, you know, that, that relationship wasn't always there. You know, in the past, it was, it was a little feisty here. And now it feels like it's just like a camaraderie where we hate each other when we're on the pitch, but we love each other when we're off. I don't know if I love them. I think I'd like them as friends. I don't know. Riley moment. I love that dude. I love Riley moment. But nonetheless, they're just good people. Yeah, I know. I appreciate having their cross-town rivalry, I guess. But my man, Peter Lawrence is that dude. Yeah, Peter. Oh, my, I meant like I can't even imagine let alone having the, you know, the balls to jump with Joe Goulet, but then stuffing him too is unreal. And then going down on the other side and dunking. Yeah. Yeah. Peter Lawrence showed out this weekend. Anytime they have a look at Mausines, they subbed in Peter and it just split the switch. Yeah. 100%. Yeah. Peter, I've said it twice in the past minute. Peter looked amazing out there. Even in that game, they lost to dice the like the golden goal game that they, they stopped dice and they brought it all the way back. I'm going to go ahead and find that score. It's like I let you know like how much heat brought it back by, but it was Peter like it was a team effort, but like Peter was the big, big name on that line that I think was really making those stops and then getting those buckets back. I don't think they rematched dice at all during that. But yeah, I mean, they outscored dice, but dice did get the catch. And so it was, let's see, 123456789. It was 125 to 1234567. And 125 to 70. And they needed 130 to win it. Heat brought it back all the way to 120. It was 120 to 125 when Lindsey Marola finally finished the game. Like that is what four goal five goals unanswered before uh, Dice scored another bucket. I mean, that is tough. And Peter was the one that looked good out there. I walked over there and I was like, Peter, you looked amazing. We dapped up, you know, it was such a great game to watch. I think you definitely got to check that out if you weren't on it. Absolutely. What three of those five goals were Peter and with a total of four of their 12 goals were Peter in that game. And this is also a game that they played without J. Stewart. Yeah, no J. Yet. Um, it was so good that like, we were warming up and Hayden, I were like, okay, guys, let's, let's watch the game. Like it was so freaking good. Oh, man. Yeah, no. I, I, I really like the direction this heat team is going and obviously, I mean, by now you've already heard, we, you know, what we talked about with Bailey and stuff like that. Um, but this team really has, it feels like a direction. Um, and it's just going to be exciting to see like what happens with them going forward. You know, what the team looks like at Nationals, you know, and how they're able to mix in all the people who did play really well this weekend. Yeah. Like, you know, I thought Maya Heinbach played the best quad ball I've ever seen out of her. Um, this weekend, just, just that role, you know, I love how they have their beat or core where it's like they have every person has their primary partner, but then they have a secondary partner as well. Right. Yeah. You know, for Jackson, it was Bailey is the primary and Baldi is the secondary, right? For, for Tracy, it was the same. But then Tracy was also beating with Maya. I get them out, right? Baldi was beating with, with, you know, a combination, but also was beating with Bradley a lot. You know, it was, it was really cool to see how they just kind of were able to flow through line so effortlessly. And their beaters, I just, it just never felt like there was a low. Like they always stayed intense. They're always able to go. And even if there was a low in a line for whatever reason, let's say, they put an in line and they start struggling. It wasn't just, oh, you know, you suck, get off. It was, it was gradual. It was, hey, you got this. Keep going. Keep pushing. And, um, that's what I appreciate it about is that they were willing to let people make mistakes and try to learn from and then when it was time, but I mean, of course, when it's time to go, you put it in your best line and you go in the game. Yeah. Here's an interesting stat I'm looking at here. Um, at the tournament, it looks like they got one, two, three, four, they played five games and they caught all five times. Wow. And it was according to the stats on qualba one, you got one, two, three, four different people making those flag catches. I'm not sure that's true. Qualba one might be incorrect. Four different people getting catches is crazy. And only two cards the whole weekend. I mean, it's, it's just good, clean quad ball by this team. That's a difference maker. And including catches, it shows 17 different goals for us for them. Dude, that is insane. Which is unreal. And one person, number 22, I can't think of who that is, but 22 had to assist no goals. But it's just like, it's just so cool how much of a, like a unit they've become and how much they care about playing for one another now. You know, in the past, you know, I kind of felt like it was, heat was like the ego team, right? They were the bad guys. They wanted to just go rain on everyone's parade and just beat everyone and, you know, in, you know, bad fashion. But now it just feels like it's completely different. And I like the vibe that they have. I love what they're doing with their coaching staff. I love what they're doing, with their player management. Clearly, you know, practice has been working. And it's going to be exciting to see what happens in two months for both them and all the other teams that we saw this weekend. Yeah, definitely. It was fun. This is one of the best weekends of quad ball that I've had in a while. Absolutely. I would say this is my favorite weekend of quad ball that wasn't like a national or a champ's weekend. Man, oh man, no. Yeah, I don't have too much I really want to talk about with heat. I mean, we just spent, I just spent 40 minutes talking about heat. Yeah, I mean, nonetheless, yeah, this team looks good. They look ready to go. And it's going to be even scarier when they add, you know, KCB was back in the mix and Kyle brought it. You know, and who knows who else can end up joining the mix. But I guess we'll have to wait and see. I guess we won't. Alrighty. So for those of you keeping score, what's the next qualifier? I'm trying to look for it is York County. So that's going to be out in South Carolina. And that is going to be at not, it's going to be in a couple of weeks actually. So there's a little bit of time before then. But make sure everyone is tuning into that one because it should be a good one for sure. Let me, let me pull it up real quick. Let's see who what teams are actually going to that. It's just going to have 10 club teams. It looks like. So we're going to have Atlantic Dragons, Carolina Reapers, chaos, DCQC, slice, flamingos, river runners, the washups, Washington monuments and boom train. So first time we're ever going to see the river runners play. If they exist, I've heard things, but I mean, if they have the bodies then absolutely. But I think so. I don't think we've seen them play at all this year. Every other team, I think maybe Washington monuments. I don't know if they have any games played this year. But at least I know that they exist. Yeah. Yeah. River runners right here on football one, zero games. Yeah. So debut for them. I hope they're able to travel and stuff. But either way, this should be a fun weekend, especially because I think I mean, obviously boom train is the heavy favorite in this one. But after that, it gets real competitive between some of these middle teams. And it looks like there is how many bids find that number one bid. Oh wow. I'm just kidding. I was kidding. I was kidding. Okay. How's that thing? Wow. I think I know where that one's going. I can't find it off the top of my head. But I mean, if it's two, if it's three, I mean, it could go a lot of different ways. And honestly, if it's three, that makes things a lot more interesting. Because I think in my head, I know who the two would be, but who knows? Yeah. Because especially with after chaos is most recent posts, seeing some of those pickups over there, that could that could start some things up for sure. So that'll be fun to see if that's actually the case or an if theory than actually there. But either way, I feel like I'm rambling a little bit. So you have anything else you want to talk about?
