S4 E48: Moondusk Masquerade Ep. 1 🌙 Secrets, Masks & Midnight Chaos Begin!

In this episode of "Auntie Gamer," the host reads through part one of the interactive story "Moon Dust Masquerade." The narrative follows Callista, a mortal orphan living in the fairy realm of Selaneroon after the Chroma Wars, where she serves her foster family—the overbearing Lady Rodora and her two demanding daughters, Briar and Anamone. As the family prepares for the Moon Dust Masquerade, where Prince Kaelan will choose dance partners, Callista is excluded due to court traditions against mortals and is left with chores. However, a magical moonstone flower delivers a mysterious invitation, transforming her into a disguised fairy with a glittering mask and gown. She travels to the palace, where a guard nearly catches her without proper credentials, but the Grand Diastella, Astromeria, intervenes, claiming Callista as her personal guest. Astromeria hints at a deeper connection and guides Callista toward Prince Kaelan, suggesting a fateful meeting. The episode ends with Callista nervous yet hopeful about her destiny. Throughout the video, the host apologizes for reading stumbles, attributing them to dyslexia and fatigue from recording multiple content types, but remains enthusiastic about the story's slow-burn romance.

(upbeat music) - What? (upbeat music) - All right, y'all, welcome back to another. What do I always forget what I'm calling this? This is Auntie Gamer. Welcome back to another episode of Auntie Gamer. Okay, and we are now playing a part one of Moon Dust Masquerade. Again, I'm gonna try to use my newly found voice acting skills that I have personally been training myself alone. Okay, no one has taught me. I am self-taught. Okay, so I'm gonna try to keep these voices straight. If y'all listen to the last audio, I'm not good at it, but I'm practicing. So here we go. I hate to say that. What is your name? And like I say, I always go with "Colista." Maybe a candle? Okay. Once upon a time, the far lunar lands of Selaneroon was where all my favorite story books and fairy tales took place. A land where celesteite, the fairies, would gather for glories, balls, and rejoice under the moonlight. A realm where enchanted surprises, sorry, enchanting surprises, would welcome you in every corridor. Be it the endless crescent, the chat I am not in a reading mood today. Be it the endless crescent cascades or gossamer delights or perhaps if you were lucky, even the hand of a handsome fairy prince. There was a time when I believe that I would someday find myself in such a world. A world beyond a rosy words are not there where am I reading them. A world beyond the rosy fields of "Vesdem" where I once called home. And now, I wake up every morning in Selaneroon, wishing I could revise my face. Reverse my face. Jesus. "Colista!" What is that name? "Animone?" "Colista, where are you?" I can't find any other dancing slipper. I can't find my other dancing slipper. "Colista, I need you to finish combing my hair out. Oh, and my ham needs mending. My brooch tore it again. "Colista, where could you have possibly hidden it?" Oh, yo, I'm so sorry. Let me start this again. "Colista, where could you have possibly hidden that other bloody slipper?" Didn't you hear me? You need to bring the needle in thread now. "Colista!" "Colista, this is my life now. A life of servitude in the court of Moundesque." The fairies here say that I should be grateful for having been spared and taken in instead of being banished back to "Vesdem" after the Chroma Wars. It all happened when I was just a child with nowhere left to call home. And all because my fellow mortals had tried to conquer the forbidden realm of the lunar fairies. In the process, the mortals even led the extension of the umbral fairies. Needless to say, the fairies were the clear victor in the war. With their shrill voices and pen pattering across every room, I have no choice but to figure out which of my foster sisters to attend to first. So this is some of, like, Cinderella-type shit I'm proud of being. Okay, choosing either of them first is always going to be the wrong answer, but here goes nothing. I've brought the needle in thread, Briar. Which part of the hand needs mending? All of it, really. I never realized that you left it uneven and I can't stop looking at it. Just look at the raw edge right here, see? No matter how many times I stare at the hand, all I see is my delicacy or work along a perfectly. Scalloped? Yeah, Scalloped-ish. Are we looking at the same spot because I won't see any? Well, of course you don't. You just don't want to take any responsibility for it. Hmm, I knew I should have just pushed mom to have the tailor take care of it. While she insisted upon letting you put your grubby hands on it, I'll never know. If only Lady Rhoda Rodora would stop clinging her face as usual. But I've lived long enough with the upstories to know that to be the real fairy tale. Okay, I'm sorry. I paused that because I was like, my dyslexia is in overdraft state. What is their last name? The overstarris? Overstarris. Okay, got it. Honestly, the last thing I need is to be looking like I've been caught in the wind, right when Prince Callum asked me to. by Cosmia's fate, Callista. Planned in Crickled Settin. And these names are gonna wear me the hell out. On an anamone comes crashing in and yanks me by the arm. Are you spellbound? Or do you think you can simply get away by ignoring me? The carriage has already arrived and I still can't find my dancing slipper. What do you think mother will do when she sees that I'm not wearing the diamond pair? She bought me, ugh, she bought me to match my mask. I'm already sick of these girls. Maybe that's why I can't, I'm flustered because I'm like a girl. How many sisters is it? And it's only one of me, yeah. Did you check under the bed? That's where the Ruby slippers were last time. Well, I, I, you go check for me. I'm already, I've already looked everywhere and I'm frazzled as it is. No, Callista, you need to fix my hem. How about you wait until after I find my slipper? How about you wait for once instead of always going first? How is it possible when it's always you, who's darlings, please? The carriage is already here. You both best be making your way to it now. The last thing you want is for one of the metalberry sisters to steal the first dance with Chris. Prince, Kaelan, as usual. I'll be ready in a moment's breath. As will I, mummy, I wouldn't dare let lavender metalberry take my spot again. You still have to wait for the second spot once Kaelan asked me first, though. I will not, darlings, carriage, now your father's waiting. As for you, Callista, with a sharp breath, lady Rodora went set me. I know I should be afraid of what's to come, but surely it's nothing. I've seen before from my so-called foster mother. That is, if she even cares to call herself that anymore. My dear, dear Callista, nothing bereaves me more than having to remind you what this evening brings, what this evening means to this family, especially to your sisters. Our attendance to this masquerade ball is not only necessary, but also a duty to the court. I'll have you know that if one of your sisters does well for herself tonight, even you might come to reap some of the benefits. Perhaps then you won't lament your lack of invitation, now would you. Well, you shouldn't even be upset at us for omitting you. The Moon Dust Court has its traditions regarding certain species, especially since the war ended. So why not simply support your sister's prospects instead? Surely tonight could have been an exception. Perhaps I'll find my own invitation someday. Okay, so either way I'm trying to get smacked down with these two two options, surely tonight could have been an exception. Okay, 'cause these, okay, 'cause she gonna, if I say the second, she gonna chop me down and be like, girl, please, you are not that good. You are not the birthday. (laughs) And then the first one, surely tonight could have been an exception. She gonna be like, why are you trying to test my judgment? But get back to cleaning this damn house. Okay, I don't know, hands or tails. Hells or tails, I am going to go with, perhaps I'll find my own invitation someday, 'cause I know she finna have all of the smoke for me. Either way. Well, perhaps I'll find my own invitation someday. Perhaps, yet for someone who claims to be grateful for being rescued when she did, one would think you'd cease making this about yourself again. With the current negotiations in place, I hardly doubt the card has any plans to change their stance on mortals and a vestum anyway. You're not about to say that you miss what wretched place. What? You're not about to say that you miss that wretched place, do you? One would reasonably miss anywhere they once had pleasant memories in. Surely you're not referring to the ones with your neglectful family, are you? The ones who would rather let you starve than stop invading our realms, portals? You've made your point, my lady. I don't need the memories. Well good, because I won't want you to be recollecting anything shocking, recollecting girl. And take two, well good, because I wouldn't want you wrecked real, why did I? Recollecting girl, recollecting. I wouldn't want you recollecting anything shocking. In fact, consider it a blessing in disguise that you won't have to be subjected to tonight's castle. There's certainly families who still don't see eye to eye about sparing the surviving mortals after the war. And that's heartbreaking, isn't it? Now, mind the house and see to it that breakfast will be ready for us by the time we return in the morning. Damn, they finna do it up, ain't they? They finna have a time, too, not. Oh, and one more thing. Yes. And I'm on a once milk berries with her morning porridge, freshly plucked. With that lady Rodora, don to her poomed mask and struts out the door. As soon as the carriage disappears, I finally come to my senses. Freshly plucked. As if I didn't pluck blueberries yesterday. I'm sorry, milkberries yesterday. Hold in my tongue. I pick up my basket and march straight to the garden. Milkberries. Why milkberries? I really hope this time I don't get stunned again. I cautiously approach the propitious little sapling in the corner. I already seem to know why I'm back again. As always, it starts boiling into a spiral and shakes as the bulb like a rattlesnake. Oh no, not today. Although, if I'm being honest, you'd be the last of any Mr. Creatured. I've had to deal with this evening. You'd be the least of any Mr. Creature. Thank you. Thank you for being a pleasure, John. Set in my basket aside, I kneel down to figure out my proper ankle of a tenement. When it comes to celestial floor and fauna, the rule is to assume that everything is looking for the chance to outwit you. Or rather, to remain the outwit mortals. Let's see. I suppose I could try the Kylix this time. The sapling is already shaking its head at me, but it knows I won't give in easily. As I reach in, I notice something sparkling from the moonstone blossoms nearby. No, what's happening over there? To the saplings' relief, I head towards the delicate light where a crystal envelope rests on the blossoms and livenary petals. It's an envelope, an envelope of some sky, but for moon. I can't tell what it's made of, but the paper keeps catching the moon light just like the blossoms. Do you think it's because the paper itself is made of new love? Honestly, I'm not quite sure. Oh, I stop it once, but I don't see anyone else in the garden. Where did that voice just come from? I'm tripping! Where did that voice come from just now? From the messenger, of course. Down here, Kalista. Down by the door. No, down here, right beside you. The largest moonstone blossom unravels. It's leaves on my hand. They said, "I find you here to deliver your invitation, and I believe I just did my invitation to wear." To the moon, that's masquerade ball, of course. Didn't anyone, or sorry, didn't anybody tell you that it's tonight? I keep waiting for someone to come out of the bushes, but there's no one here but me and one very luck-wacious flower. I take it, this is your first time to the ball, Kalista. They say tonight is going to be a special one, perhaps even fortuitous. Prince Kalen is expected to choose at least three potential suitors to dance with. That's three dances, three chances to lose yourself in those midnight eyes, those brooding eyes, you mean? I've seen an amone and blares sketches of him hidden under their pillows. Well, they say he might not be so brooding once his special guest arrives tonight. The flower keeps gleefully pushing the letter towards me. It's petals rustling under the shimmering moonlight. Go on, it's your time, Kalista. You can come out now, and I'm on aim. This has to be a mistake. Okay, so I know that girl was gone. She would not miss an opportunity just to print me, so this has to be a mistake. Oh, how come? Your Kalista, right? The foster daughter made of thee. But who are we going in? Oprah's story house, and that's failed different than the last time. Well, more or less, but I'm also a, you're a what? I'm also under the impression that guests like me aren't always allowed to attend. Or has that little sense changed? No, not exactly, but since when have rules ever applied to creatures like us? What they won't know, won't hurt them? The war has left my petal friends with some choice opinions about Celesteites anyway. I never realized that Ferries had also waged war with their very own flora. Oh, well, that's a tale for another day. I should consider myself lucky that you're paying this much attention to me, but I'd also be a minis, did I say that right, Jack? But I'd also be a minis if I don't send you off already. As much as I'd like that, I don't have much of anything let alone for a ball unless you consider a basket of respectable accessory. Oh, well, how about I sort that out for you? That way, you can't give me any more excuses. Now, all you have to do is pluck one of my petals. Won't that kill you? Nonsense, I'm a strong one. Now, just pluck a petal and fold it into the letter. Then, hold on to the moonlight and before you know it, the chat. Then, hold it out to the moonlight and before you know it, the second I gave my offering to the moon, then Silver Whist started binding onto my glows. A euphoric light soon overtakes me, adorning me in a silhouette made of stars and tiny moonstone velocities. Oh yeah, my screen just won't like you. Okay, it's not until the flower gives a delightful laugh that a glittering mask graced my face and seals my fairy disguise, well. It looks like someone's finally ready. I'm quite pleased with your mask. I'd say it's lovelier than any of mine. How is this all possible? I've known of Celestine Magic since I was brought here, but these upstories have never been a capable of something like this before. If you're the messenger, then who sent you here? Didn't I tell you that only you? What? Didn't I tell you that you only have so much time? Right at this moment, there's a ball missing the one guess they don't realize they need the most. So go, go on, Celestine, they're waiting for you as the flower playfully laughs a spot of floral, a spot of floral carriage already waiting for me in the front of the manner. For all the times I've wished upon the moon to change my miserable fate, is this really how it's finally sending its miracle out to me? Will it really come down to a flower, a mass, and a single night to unravel my destiny under the moonlight? Even before the carriage comes to a stop, the first glimpse ahead of the decadent spires of what is this? Estrelios? Leave me speechless. For years, I've grown up listening to Briar and Annamone gush about the rural family's palace. Eventually, the topic would always lead back to Prince Kailin's enormous assets, although they'd often bicker about which ones. But now, I'm finally here. I'm realizing that their tails pale in comparison to the majesty before me. I step out of the carriage as mass gifts show their irritations to the guard at the door. Not taking chances, I wait until they're busy with another family for me to fly past them and head for the silver stairs inside. At once, I'm welcomed into a world of twinkling gowns and haven-wist-masks or heaven-wist-masks. Their glorious facades, their no-hint of class, nor sensibilities, even for that matter. As I can barely tell whether the boisterous mothers who are pushing their offspring to go feel their dancing parts are either pleasant or nobles, or peasant or nobles. I'm starting to see a pattern between upstarts and the other noble families of the court. However, they're still considered tears away from the highest class in attendance tonight. I make the mistake of turning around right as the guard spots me from the staircase. Oh, no, surely he knows. The smite meller lives dragging. Despite my very disguise, I don't waste time searching past the crowd for a corner to hide. The guard picks up my pace, picks up to his pace, refusing to lose sight of me. You there, in the silver, where's your invitation? We can't let you in without a… Our gin-told. What has the court told you about scaring our special guest? Was this me? Astroamert, Rhea, oh goodness. Yes, is she yours then or I can't say his name. Astro-may-er-ya. Astroamert, Astro-may-er-ya. Yes, absolutely. Well, go on and return to your post then. With her regal… That's her? With her regal cape, swishing behind her. The mass musician gracefully offers me her hand, okay. Come along. I've been wondering when you'd arrive. I was even starting to get a little worried if you've lost your way. You've been expecting me? Well, it appears that you're my guest now, aren't you? Is the grand diastella of this court? I was indeed told that I could invite whomever I desired. Funny how that works, isn't it? Chuckling to herself, Astroamert, Sneaks a glance at our gin-told. Once the guard finally turns away, she drapes some of her cape down my back as we walk together. Ah, it's always so amusing when he knows he has to give up. As you see, there's nothing fearsome about our gin-told. You simply have to give him your most affirmative voice, and he'll assume anything, you say, has come from his majesty's orders or mine. It's amusing watching the expression, it's amusing watching the expression he makes although yours is quite as exciting as well. Why so surprised, my dearest guest? Are you my flower? Shouldn't you be returning to the royal family? Okay, so what would I think? I would think they are the sender of the invitation, but I wouldn't think they were the flower like in disguise or something. Shouldn't you be returned? You know what? It's a magician, so it may, she may have turned herself into a flower. I'm going to choose that one. Are you my flower? Am I your flower? Are you trying to tease me about my name? I'll have you know that I'm quite fond of it, so much so that I'm curious to know what it'll sound like when you call me by it. Girl, I'd already chucked and screwed your name. Shouldn't I be calling you by your coordinate, grandiastella? Perhaps you should be, perhaps you should be, perhaps you should be when we're among other officials of the court, but I don't mind if we made this our first little secret. Or if you find my name to be a bit too long for your taste, why not call me Nieria for short? Oh girl, yes, please. Although if you were trying to tease me just now, then I should point out that if I'm the one who picked you out of tonight's Celestra, Celestra B.K., doesn't this, what, doesn't this, instead make you my flower? Well, yeah, okay, so you're picking, okay. Well then, we should make haste. I'm sure that Kaylen will appreciate the introduction. Wait, you don't mean the Prince Kaylen, do you? Well, of course, there's only one Kaylen in the region, and he's currently off in the corner severely lacking in stimulation. Somebody needs to get that Prince to see the light, and I decree that it should be you. Am I dreaming? I couldn't possibly have heard Nieria say that I am going to be the one to save his night. As we cross deeper into the crowd of masked fairies, my world only becomes more surreal. Surely, this must all be one feverish dream, otherwise how am I supposed to believe that Prince Kaylen will spare me a greeting tonight, let alone a conversation. And then what, will he suddenly get down on one knee and propose to a mortal maid before this judgemental court? I can't help wonder if the oak starrys would set this up for their own cruel amusement. While offering smiles to the other guests, Nieria soon leads me to the corner, swathed in silk curfews and marble pillows. My eyes first wonder to the kindly oak star, to the kingly fairy, masked in gold, and his ethereal queen, as a servant offers them each a chalice. And brooding beside them in a midnight cloak is. Oh, shoot! Look at them show! Look at that chest! That's really Prince Kaylen. Now I'm certain that this is a dream. Why only a dream? A magician since his never lie. I've never been more. I've never been wrong when it comes to reading between the lines. Before we go any further, Maria graces gracefully takes it upon herself to straighten out, straightening my outfit. All you need to know about addressing his majesty is one simple rule. You must never assume that you will have the last word. When it comes to failing, however, perhaps you could tempt his mood a little. What would make me tempt fate? I'm so nervous that I wish this really wasn't dream. Oh yeah, I go alone. Oh, but if you woke up, then you'd be left without a happy ending, wouldn't you? And you believe that's what I'm supposed to have with Prince Kayla? I didn't exactly say that. However, I do think that the celestial seas have a way of weaving more than just one soul's destiny with another's. And my life's work, if my life's work has taught me anything, is that things are soul desires the most. Well, they have a way of finding themselves to us. That's a weird phrase. Okay. That sort of look isn't just exclusive to Harry's mind you. This applies for mortals too. All right, child. So this is my time. I could see this is also a slow burn, but that's okay. That just gives me more episodes. Okay, so let me love this. Oh, no, that's my love. Okay. And we're gonna exit to the main screen. Okay, y'all. So that has been episode one of the "Don't Desk Masquerade". I apologize for all the stumbling and stammering with my reading today. So I don't know if I said it in the previous video, but I have a week before I go to work. So I was trying to do a marathon of recordings. So I'm doing the anti-gamer recordings and I'm doing some audio novel readings and then also ASMR. So I'm doing three a day for five days so that I can have 15 weeks of content as I start my new job and get into full debt because I won't have enough time to build content. So by the time I get to the video game recording, maybe I need to reverse the order of recording. So I do the novel reading and then I do the ASMR reading and by that time, like my throat is a little drive from takes, my mouth is a little drive from takes and then I do this and then I'm just kind of like burnt out. Still having fun, but like, like I said before, I'm dyslexic and sometimes my brain gets a little burning above the eyebrows and yeah. So again, thank you for checking in and I will see y'all next time.
