S4 E47: Tavern Talk – Episode 1 🍻 Cozy Chaos, Potion Tea & Fantasy Flirting Begins!

In this episode, Q plays "Tavern Talk" for the second time, taking on the role of an innkeeper who serves magical drinks. The gameplay begins with a conversation with Fable, a ranger who expresses deep boredom and a desire for excitement, feeling trapped in her routine life in the forest. Fable shares her dream of becoming a hero, meeting nymphs, and singing songs of adventure, but she lacks the courage to leave her home, especially due to her brother's disapproval. Q encourages her, suggesting that her adventures can start with herself. The core gameplay involves crafting drinks for patrons. Q learns the process from Fable, who orders a "Swift Strike." This requires using a journal to note orders, selecting recipes, and mixing ingredients from five bottles representing stats like dexterity and strength. Q struggles with the controls, making mistakes and pouring incorrect amounts, but eventually succeeds after multiple attempts. Later, a mysterious customer orders a "Spoken Heart," and Q again faces difficulty with the recipe, but manages to complete it after trial and error. Throughout the session, Q engages with the characters' stories, particularly Fable's internal conflict about following her dreams versus fulfilling her duties. The episode ends with Fable reaffirming her desire for adventure, and Q saves the game. Q also mentions her ongoing commitment to improving her reading and voice acting skills through gameplay, and she plans to continue playing this game alongside others, inviting viewer feedback.

(upbeat music) - Hey y'all, welcome back. This is your girl, Q, playing Tavern Talk today. So let's just jump right in. This is my second video game playthrough ever. So, if you haven't watched the first one, please go back and watch it. It's episode one of, what is it? Bam, Bam, date, everything. So let's get into it, Tavern Talk. All right, let's see how the controls work. Okay. Yeah, wanna be a she-her? ♪ Once upon a time in a world far far away ♪ ♪ In a realm ruled by dragons and magic ♪ Well, actually, it was this line specifically. - It's nice. - No, that far away, let me start over. Once, put a time somewhere in Gaia. No, that far away, there was a tavern. There's a place for anyone looking for an adventure or a quick refreshment. A place open to everybody, even chat doors, I suppose. But I'm not just your typical innkeeper. My drinks are infused with magic to aid ambitious adventurers on their quests. To make sure they always return victorious. This is a nice way out. - Big shoes to fill, I know. Then again, what's the worst that could happen? - Girl. All right, A to continue, it'll be Questboard. I ain't in keep, how's it going? All fine and dandy? Can't complain, how about you, Fable? All fine and dandy. Yes, yes, all fine and dandy, okay, y'all. I had such an exciting day, really, really exciting. Did you go on an adventure? Even better, I took a walk around the grove and then I replanted a mushroom that had fallen over. Then I patiently waited for it to turn into a mushroom monster or a mushroom mimic. Maybe a gnome? Did it? No, but I got to take another walk around the grove. How was it? Great. I got to see the same stones and the same trees. The same, I'm a rippin hydroguarding, the entrance to Avalon, the same moss. I even got to the water, what? I even got to water the asterisk. They didn't really need it, but I was there, so. Sounds very exciting. Who am I kidding? My life is as exciting as a roasted net. Nuts are healthy. Very thrilling and sauces, or as a snack. They are of their various types of nuts. Walnuts, peanuts, hazelnuts. I'm allergic. She's sad like me. Oh, I didn't know that. Oh, no worries. I mean, I never told you. Tend hay. At least something would happen if I ate a net. Just not something very fun. I don't feel like it's shocking all that. Does that count as an adventure? The stick out is dead. No, I think that counts as a mistake, exactly. So what are you saying is that you're missing some spice? Oh, no, no, no. I have a very sensitive stomach. I don't think chilies would help me much. Though I'm very good at growing phoenix chilies. I was talking about spice in your life. Ah, oh, that's what you meant. Well, yes. Yes, exactly. That's it. There's no chili flakes, no garlic, no dragons. Just a lot of salt. Unlike a bland soup. So a classic case of boredom, I see. Do you know that feeling when nothing exciting is going on in your life, girl, don't I? Like life isn't bad, but it's not, it's also not particularly fun. Have you tried visiting the circus? Have you tried adding some zest to your soup? I'm gonna do the bottom. I don't feel like me. Okay. Huh? Drama buzz, excitement. Something fiery. Go to the theater or gala. Arrive in a hot air balloon. A hot air balloon? Don't they fly up? Really high? Yes, I think that's the point. I'm afraid of heights and of people and of actors. Jesus. But apart from that, I'm trying. I tried singing. But what is singing if not telling a tale? Telling a tale. How can I sing of things I have never lived or anything if I've never lived or anything? What do you mean? Well, they in, they out. I live in the same green soup of routines. Sure, I have my forests and I look after it, but I want to get out there and see something. Like for example. Listen to this song that started writing. ♪ I wish to be a hero, flying mighty drapes ♪ ♪ I wish to meet a pretty nymph ♪ ♪ Resting by the lakes ♪ Sorry, I'm with my singing. (laughs) A pretty nymph. That's pretty daring. That sounds like a good song opening to me. Yeah, I'm gonna go with the bottom one. Oh, really? You think so? Well, perhaps it has a nice flow to it. But nothing actually happens in it because all I do is sit around and wish for things to happen. I don't even know what nymphs do. I've never met one. Taxes maybe? (laughs) No, I don't think so. I would love to sing about the exciting magical things I encounter. But to be honest, the most exciting thing in my life is coming to your tavern and discovering new drinks. I didn't even see that little pop up. Not a lot of songs you can write about that. I wouldn't mind a jingle. I'll think of one. Can I mention nymphs? I'd prefer you didn't. Okay, maybe one day I'll get to offer them their own jingle. In the meantime, can I offer you a drink? Yes, I'd love a drink. The usual? Yes, please. That means a swift strike in case you forgot. Thank you for the reminder, Vable. It's my favorite. It always makes me feel like a feathered light nymph floating on the waves of a sunny lake. Do you want to be with a nymph or be a nymph? Be the nymph. Both. But mostly I want a swift strike. Message received. Although, although I was wondering, I've been coming to your tavern for so long, and I still don't know anything about how you make your drinks. Could you show me? Yes. Really? Yes. What should I do? Do I need to put it on an apron or summon up familiar? How do I summon up familiar? Just follow me. She's getting too excited. Welcome to my drink making nip. So this is what it looks like back here. Hello, Anbu. Careful, I haven't fed him yet. Here we start. Well, usually I start by figuring out what my patrons want. To make sure I don't forget what they ordered, I take notes in my journal. Let's have a look. Because of the journal and why, order. I don't know what it is, wind and three drops of frosted lagoon, swift strike, spoken heart, southern brawler, and I can't see that with my bad eyes. What is it, sparkly nebula? Okay. Oh, you pinned my order. I did. If I want to look for specifics, I check my detailed notes. I do keep a log, just in case. When I'm sure I know what was asked of me, I browse my recipes. Pensions is freehand, make something to see what sticks, girl. No, I like to mix and match for a more varied result. But the right balance is crucial, so I stick to my recipes. When I've set it on one, I can use the chop to draw it on the board. What if you pick the wrong one? I can either erase it with a sponge or just pick a different recipe. My ingredients are stored in the five bottles on the right. Oh, that's pretty as well. They look like the old-school perfume bottles. There's dexterity, intelligence, defense, strength, and charisma. I think dexterity sounds the tastiest. I had a feeling you might say that. Once I mess up, I want to redo my drink for any reason. I can simply feed my mistakes to hando. Once I'm done, I ring the bell to activate the primordial vortex. What kind of drinks is this? Actually, I don't need to bore you with the magical details. Just try and make a drink, you've got this. Okay, so we're going to open up the journal. She wants a swift strike. Okay, this is the relief on the win with the swift strike. This must have, for any dexterity-devoted adventure, grant you agility, speed, and remarkable accuracy. Oh, and a tasty drink. Just in order this delicious, you'll see any dwarf's kill count in no time. Okay, so what the hell do I do now? Because, okay, so I drew it, and then I would. Let it tell me shit. Let it tell me shit, y'all. I don't know what to do. Yo! Missy, remove infusion, pick up, old sponge, finish drink. Chow, I don't know. Listen, I remember saying this little win mark, let me open this back up. It says what, and who? Okay, so let's see. Yo, it did not tell me what to miss, or is that what they're drawing us? I think we close it, and it's laying in towards that, okay, so I'll click that. What? Okay, but how many parts? Yo! Are we finna mess up? Okay, and then, a little bit of this? How do I do that? Okay, and then, I'm gonna go back to this one, because I barely got any in there. Okay, so I see. Okay, and then, a little bit of who? There was a little time to do this. Girl, isn't that it? I don't know, y'all, we'll have to see, okay, so this is. Finish the drink, this is not the right drink, let me read that again. This is not the right drink, it has to be, it has to be recipe that fits. I don't know what the hell it made. Okay, so we finna, what we finna do, get this to Andrew? I don't know what the fuck they do, y'all, okay, what's it up to? I don't know what the, I don't even know what them symbols mean. I remember she read them off. Oh, I read them off. Okay. No, I don't think it's that one. It's not the most. It's going to be that one. Is that enough? That may be a little too much. I don't see it. I think. Did I move in? Did I move in, y'all? Oh, shit. What about it? I'm not going to have to do this to Andy. Now I'm not going to work on it, so I'm going to have to keep it to Andy. Okay, so we're starting. Well, I want to take my bag. Okay. Okay, we're going all the way to the edge. Was it more? Because it, I don't know. I don't know, y'all. Why won't it let me go? Okay, there we go. All right, so let's try this one again. I was supposed to stack. I was supposed to stack, y'all. I don't know if it's going to work. Oh god. Okay, so that one still like that. I think it is this one. Nope, it's not working. I'm going to have to give it to Andy again. This game is kind of hard. Okay, so I don't have to, I don't have to give it out to him. Shit. Okay, so let's try this one again. Oh, Jesus. Okay, so let's try this order. Okay. Okay. Now it's the, this one. Shit. I think I got too much, too much, I don't even know what the contents are. The yellow substance. I think that, okay, okay, the marks on the measuring glass. So that's when I need to stop pouring. I think I got it. Okay, stop it. Okay, so I got two feet, I got two right there. Okay, so it said three drops, I think. Okay, so that's three. That's three. That's three. Okay, so then this one, I don't know how many drops. So is it a slide of the hand? Is it one drop? Okay, so let's try this one. I did it, I did it, I did it. Okay, so finish the drink. Okay, so I got it. Now the drops is the first most, I guess, ounces. And until you have many drops to do, will you stop? Okay. This should be digestible. Maybe even tasty. Okay, so we're gonna do this guy and then we're gonna stop because I only do 30 minute gameplays and I'm almost there. So let's finish up the storyline with him. Thanks. Almost washes away the memories of that banshee hunting the lonesome lagoon at night. And her bone-shattering song of sorrow. Almost. Okay, we're more like song of bones and water. All right, the brooding type I see. What's going on? Where's she's sweating? What are you thinking about, Fable? Just dreams, yours or someone else's. My other people seem to have the courage to follow theirs. Why can't I be like that? Isn't that up to you? I wish it was. My brother says my dreams are a fool's errand that I'm running away from where I belong. We're Rangers, Fable. We belong to the woods, like the stream that ripples down the mountain. Oh, okay, brother, what you trying to be poetic? But you're also keeping this girl in the cage, you don't want to be, or the birds and the trees. Keep the balance. That's what we were meant to do. And is that what you want to do? Yes, no, not really. I want to experience things outside of the safe borders of the forest. I want to live a life so full of adventure, boredom will feel like bliss. I want to be brave and strong. And I want to sing songs about my adventures that make other people yearn for that same freedom. Of course, I can never leave the ash and grove behind forever. It's my home. But there's nothing wrong with going away for a time, going away from time's time, right? I mean, my brother looks after the grove, as well as my sisters. I think it'd be fine without me. Then you should do what your heart desires. Will it stop aching then? I think so, yes. What if it's wrong to leave, though? What if destiny never meant for me to leave? What if it did? That would be a dream come true. Be your own genie, Fable. Your adventures start with you. Thank you and keeper. You really are the most exciting part of my day. Okay, well, that was the end of the day. It's probably, uh, okay, big girl, brick house. Okay, but let me just let the end of the game play. Let me see. I'm going to save. I'm going to put that data. Let me see. Okay, so it is back there. All right. And then I'm going to go to the main menu. Are you sure you want to quit? Ah, yes, yes. All right, child. So that was today's gameplay of Tavern Talk. This is episode one. So right now, the two games that I am currently playing are, um, what is it? Uh, date everything and now Tavern Talk. I may add a couple of more, you know, just to mix it up and just, you know, run through all of them, not consecutively, but just, you know, whenever I catch a fill in or if I have to play one. And so, uh, thanks for stopping by again. I hope you enjoyed it. I'm going to work on my reading. I don't know if a lot of you know this. I am, uh, very transparent. I hope this guy knows that this lexic when I was a child. So my reading skills, uh, reading my head, and what? not loud, not so much, but I do love really romance novels, so I'm getting better at that. So doing this will help me practice my reading out loud skills, and also will help me with my voice acting. So yeah, so I'll see y'all next time. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed yourself.
