S2 - E8 - My Daily Routine

(soft music) Asalaamu alaikum. Ahlan wa sahlan wa marhaban bekom fi abit al-harabik. I am your host, Qawthar. I hope you all are doing well. In today's episode, you will learn how to talk about your daily routine using verbs in the present tense. And as usual, make sure to check out the vocabulary list attached here that I have created for this episode. (soft music) Let us begin with some action verbs in the present tense before we put them in sentences. To say I wake up in Arabic, we say, and there's so many other verbs to use, but this is the basic and most important and the mostly used. I shower or I take a shower, as the him. I brush and this is referring to cleaning your teeth will be will not lift, which is the same verb for cleaning or I clean. I make or it's the ritual performed right before prayer for Muslims and it's I make I pray, I eat, I get dressed, or I go, Now we'll have two different scenarios. One will be a morning routine that you wake up and go to school and the other one will be waking up to go to work. (upbeat music) Let's begin with verbs related to go into school. I arrive, or always followed by the preposition two. Or I arrive at, which is I'll say and you also find this on the quiz letter I provide for you. I attend I meet up or I meet also followed with the preposition with I eat again, If it's lunch that you're having a year's, when I say I'm having lunch, you'll be I have lunch, I have dinner. I head home, basically, you're going somewhere, so you'll be saying I head home or I head to the library or I head to wherever you're going, you're gonna have to have the preposition two, which is and here will be comes from a face, is face in Arabic, so when you say basically you're putting your face and you go and towards that direction. I go back home or I return would be I go back to and then you can say I will count I review, and this is referring to reviewing your lessons when you're a student, I review I do my homework, not necessarily translating the verb I do, which is but in here you, it's the same verb used for I get up. by my work, which is homework. I do my homework, and I sleep, (gentle music) (gentle music) Okay, let's put these in sentences, which we'll turn into short paragraph. I'll be writing the translation off what I'm saying Arabic right now or I'm about to say an Arabic right now in the description section of today's episode. Let's listen and follow. Every vocab I use and verb is the verbs we just did and also anything extra, it will be in the vocabular list on the quislet. (gentle music) And now, let's do some of the verbs you might need if you're talking about your daily routine going to work. which is something we've done before, some of them will be repetitive so just bear with me and it's repetition and review. I arrive at I greet I work You could also say, I do my work. Same verb we use for homework if you remember. which is I do my homework. Here if you wanna say, I do my work I meet up again I have lunch, or like I said previously, I continue to work or I continue to do something. You can either say or On my way to home I call Every time you wanna say, you call somebody, the preposition that's followed, that's following which has I call has to be In English translates to the preposition by, but it makes no sense in English, but in Arabic, it is very much needed when you say I call like a person. So and so. I go to I go back, So a lot of these verbs are repeated. I rest And the last one, last one, is I go to sleep and there is another one that I'm using for the working people, which is and and (gentle music) (gentle music) Okay, here comes the fun part. I'll do it again. Same process, few sentences. That will, of course, turn into a paragraph, talking about a working person. It might be super basic, but we can add to it later on.
