Welcome. You're listening to podcast from Fear to Dare. I'm Jay Hong, known as Coach Jay. In each episode, I'll take you into a real-life moment where fear or strong emotions can take hold. Together we'll pause, notice and reset, with short reflections and simple practices that bring clarity and strengthen the courage for your next step. And today we'll explore the fear of judgment. You're about to speak up, share an idea, post something online or show a part of yourself. And suddenly you hesitate. A voice inside wonders, "What will they think? Will they approve? What if they laugh at me?" This fear can be subtle, but it shapes our choices, what we say, how we act, and what we allow ourselves to express. For many of us, the fear of judgment comes from earlier moments when being different, honest or expressive wasn't safe. So now we adapt, we shrink ourselves, let it our truth or choose the acceptable version of who we are. But the cost, this authenticity, when we rely on others' approval, we lose contact with our own voice. So here are the three questions when you notice yourself holding back out a fear of judgment. You don't need to have the perfect answer. Just notice what comes up for you. Take a deep breath when you hear each question and pause to reflect if needed. Question 1. Who's judgment am I afraid of? And why does their opinion carry so much weight? Question 2. How much of myself do I hide to avoid judgment? And what is the cost of that? Question 3. If I lived from my own truth rather than others' expectations, what would I choose right now? Here is a short reset you can try. Sit comfortably and take a slow breath. Bring to your mind the situation where you fear judgment. On your inhale, say softly, my truth matters. On your exhale, I release the need for approval. Inhale again, I choose to show up as myself. Repeat this 3 times, letting the words settle into your body. Remember, the people who matter are drawn to your authenticity, not your perfection. Thank you for being on this journey from fear to dare with me. If this reflection resonated, subscribe and share this episode with someone who might need a gentle reset today. And if there is a fear you'd like me to explore in a future episode, share it in the comments. I'd love to hear from you. Until next time, and remember, every pulse is a chance to reset, and every step is already progress.
