S:3 E:36: Shows That Fed My Soul Since January

Hey all my nerds, geeks, blurts, and freaks. Welcome back to another episode of Geeky, Sexual, and Intellectual. It's your girl Q, the Cosplay Apparel Queen and Anime Whisperer, bringing you another episode full of teeth, love, and deep geek reflections. Today's episode is a big warm hug to shows and anime that got me through this year so far. Because you know, this shit has been shitting. Whether it made me cry, made me swoon, made me yell at the screen, every one of them left a mark. Let's jump into the shows that fed my spirit, got me emotional, and sometimes had me throwing snacks at the TV, girl. So I'm going to break these shows down by episode. I mean, not by episode, but the show that I watched. In no specific order, I'm going to break it down by summary, my key takeaways, and why I love it. So show number one is Cherry Magic: 30 Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard. First of all, that title blew my head back. Because I'm like, what? Y'all being very extra with this title. And we all know it's a running joke on the internet with these long-ass anime titles that these producers be coming up with, or the manga came up with. Hilarious. It fully explains what's going on in the show, but I'm like, why is this title a paragraph already? We get it. Okay, so the summary of the show is, Adachi, a shy 30-year-old man who gains the ability to read minds after remaining a virgin, finds out his handsome co-worker, Kurosawa, has been in love with him this whole time. It's sweet, awkward, and full of warm fuzzies. So my key takeaways are, number one, soft masculinity is so healing to watch. I'll just be like, oh my god, the cuddles! The next takeaway is, love blooms at your own pace. And that's okay. A lot of people try to rush it, or they get antsy, like, do they really like me? I don't know. Because it's just not fast and hard. I'm like, just take your time, revel in it, okay? My next takeaway is, the vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness. I'm like, you see that all the time with the main protagonist. He is super vulnerable, but again, he's vulnerable. He's learning lessons. Like, this is all new to him. So, I love watching it. I'll say, so now, getting to why I love it. The mind-reading twist gave us insight into emotions without needing drama. So yeah, we do our own internal drama all the damn time. It could be a whole show. Kurosawa was the soft, respectful king we all needed. Yes! Because he did have his moments where a little bit of toxicity was trying to creep in, like he wanted to take advantage of a baby boy. But he was like, no. I have to be respectful. We'll take it. I don't want to push him too much. And y'all work together, so slow that down. It also showed that love can surprise you when you're just trying to survive. Yes, that is hilarious. Because we still be out here, life and life, while we're trying to make romantic connections. Okay, so the next show is My Happy Marriage. Oh my god! I'm getting all the feels with these first two episodes, but yes. Got me through. So, the summary. Miyu is emotionally neglected and treated as worthless by her family. She's arranged to marry Kiyoka, a feared and powerful soldier, but instead of cruelty, she finds healing, protection, and unexpected love. So, season one, oh my god. Like, it was like everyone's trauma on different levels rolled into one, and then we got to hell by the end of the episode. And then season two started. Uh, I want to say about a month ago. Um, but yeah, I haven't finished that yet. But, uh, even those few episodes, it's like, oh my god, Miyu is just growing. She's speaking up for herself. She's learning new things. She's still be letting people come for her, and she do it in her soft-spoken way. Like, bitch, I am not the one. I am learning to love and protect myself. And it was just all of the feels and all of the heals. Um, my key takeaways from the show, um, healing from trauma takes time and the right people. So, yeah, she left them dastardly villains in her first life. Even the sweet friend she had. I can't even remember his name. He had been in love with her the whole time. But that nigga was trying to put her in her box. Like, he just wanted to protect her like this precious thing. But he, he couldn't, he couldn't strike the match. Like, okay, well, somebody struck the match. The fucking house burned down. But still, I'm like, nobody had her back until Kiyoka came along. And I'm like, yas, yas, daddy. So, I'm glad she found her people. Even the maid. The maid was wonderful. Her sister-in-law, wonderful. Everybody been wonderful until this second season. Their fucking, um, mother-in-law. I mean, I understand where she coming from. But, like, bitch, you been rich a long time. These men are perfectly capable of protecting the family name. Chill the hell out. You don't have to try to protect the family from this little girl. Um, but anyway, she has a ways. There's a reason for it. But she need to chill the hell out. Um, let's see. Your past doesn't define your worth. Everybody needs to. Understand it like who you used to be or the things that you used to take. And when you had no boundaries, you can always change that and just take baby steps. I love it. Love it, love it, love it, love it. Um, stillness can be powerful storytelling. Um, yeah, because it's a slow burn of a show and it's not a lot of high action in it. You know, it has scenes of action, you know, when Kiyoka's fighting, uh, against the demons that I can't remember the name of them, but yeah. And then their, uh, human adversaries, like it's, it's a slow burn, but then, you know, when the shit hit the fan, it hit it. So I'm loving that. I like the slow pace of it all. Um, why I love it visually stunning with a soft water color feel, love it. It's giving all the soft air feels, um, that emotional buildup who it wrecked me in the best way. Cause I'm like, oh my God, it's always so much tension. And I'm like, I'm glad that in second season, if you, I'm sorry, spoiler alert, spoiler alert. I should have said that before. Um, I'm glad that they're free. They're finally kissing. I wasn't quite sure if they slept in the bed together or not. Um, that's just kind of left out there for, for your own imagination, uh, maybe it'll come back around to it. I got to get back to season two. Um, let's see. And my last point of why I loved it, um, it gave slow burn romance with the real emotion with the real emotional states. That's true. Um, because they're always, it's always a push and pull, push and pull. And then on the last episode, I left our phone on season two. Uh, I think Kiyoka thought he was dying and he finally told me you that he loved her and he wished he would have told her sooner because you got to count these days. None of these days is promised boo boo. You got to put it all on the table. Okay. Cause it may not be no table and they'll never know. And you have regret. I mean, we really have regret. You'll be dead. Will you care anymore? Anyway, while you alive, let the love love. Okay. Um, let's see show number three that I've been watching. Um, I could never predict. I don't know how to pronounce her name, but, uh, uh, Meku MD, Dr. Detective, this show is so cute. And then when the first episode I watched it, I was like, this is kind of like house. I love it. I love it. Okay. Let me get into my summary. Dr. Ameku. Don't play. She investigates mysterious medical cases while battling corruption in the healthcare system. Think house MD, but with more eyeliner and less ego, she just a little ball of thunder. And I love her. She's so tiny. She don't bite her tongue. She don't choke on words. Okay. And she'd be letting these criminals know, or these, um, inadequate doctors know you fucked up. You're fine. You're fucked around and you found out, or I found out and put your shit on French street. So my key takeaways, uh, women can lead with intelligence and righteous anger because she be lashing out, but it's really at her, uh, what is it? Her, her assistant or her, her subordinate, uh, coworker and I can't remember his name right now, but he's super cute. I like him. Um, medical injunctions. Injustice hits different when you've lived it. Yes, because especially black women, we know we get underdiagnosed, uh, because of all these stupid, stupid scientific lies that the world has been told that we can endure more pain and yada, yada, yada. But there's even doctors that just aren't competent and just don't know how to find the clues or the delve deep. I can't even talk today. I'm so sorry. It is early in the morning delve deeper to find the answers to diagnose a person correctly. So they don't have to live in pain. Um, let's see my last point, uh, on the key takeaways is the truth can be deadly, but necessary. Yeah. I mean, how many episodes have I watched? Has it been three or four? But like it was one episode spoiler where, uh, there was a dead man that was bleeding blue blood and it was just, it was a lot. So she delved deeper. And she found out what took place. I think it was with a vet, a veterinarian that was trying to cover up the murder, but yeah, it was, it was deadly, but she had to take his ass there and she almost lost her life. But her, uh, coworker saved her life. The cops saved her life and it was necessary. So we could figure out what the fuck was going on. Uh, why I love the show is sharp, both literally and narratively. It really is because, uh, I just don't be taking no damn notes. There is a YouTuber that is a doctor and he, uh, has people that submit, um, medical anime shows to him or medical terms. that happen in anime and then he uh breaks it down if this is true or not if they did a good that uh deep dive on how uh literal it is in the medical community and he thought this show was very smart and hit the nail on the head uh so i thought that was pretty cool that knowing actually what i'm watching is real life medical uh shit um my next point of why i liked it uh ameku has that read you down to your soul energy and i love the way she be talking to these criminals like you could take my life but guess what you're gonna remember me when you kill me i'm gonna live in your brain rent free because i read your ass down and they just they they bubble up they do some of that uh scooby-doo shit like if it wasn't for these uh meddling kids i could have got away with it she's like oh but you won't bitch because i found all of your shit i rattled all of the skeletons in your closet and this is what happened and you just fucked up lock him up daniel i'm real corny this early in am um and the last point where i loved it it blends drama and suspense with real world critique like i was saying back to that doctor that said it was on point um medically like the terminology um the diagnoses all of this stuff really really really good so give that um a watch if you like something that's cute and also suspenseful like if you like something that's cute and also suspenseful like if you like something that's cute and also suspenseful like if you like something that's if you ever liked house or grace anatomy or any of that stuff okay so like show number four that i've been watching um tadaima okuri um let me just give you a little summary on it a gentle story of two married men raising their son domestic intimate and affirming queer love without the drama tropes so i'm still i love this show let me just start by saying that but i'm still kind of confused and i guess because i haven't finished the season there was an episode spoiler there was an episode where um the stay-at-home dad was going through uh an illness so i was trying to figure out the illness like is this supposed to be the um equivalent of like uh like a menstrual like women being on their periods for a couple of days or was he in heat i couldn't i couldn't figure it out quite right because i know that they actually give birth to their children uh the same-sex couples um so i just need to finish this season so i can get a better understanding but i i couldn't like break that down very well i guess that was also supposed to be left up to the uh viewers imagination if somebody knows please let me know but um i thought that was pretty cool though that you know he was like oh i'm sick i can't take care of the family the husband that goes off to work he was like super worried about him um and then he finally came out if the baby was like oh i want my daddy and he's like you can't have your day right now he's super sick it'll be okay just give him a couple of weeks and then he'll be like oh i'm gonna need to feel better and then daddy will be back and i thought that was really cute and uh true to life like when one couple one um member of the household or the uh romantic relationship is down and out you got to like cover all the bases so super cute and uh relatable um my key takeaways uh parenthood is a partnership not a performance that is a whole word okay because people out here think they know what relationships are until they get into it and they don't know what relationships are until they get into it and they don't know it and then when they are in the relationships they don't understand okay this is a partnership you don't just get to run it because you're a man or you don't just get to run it because you want to be the queen of the house like we have to do this together to make it work okay where is the love um representation of queer family life matters deeply it really does because all of our lives we've seen a straight heterosexual relationships we know what that's like okay but from the beginning of time there has also been queer relationships not all societies found it as this uh what do you call it blasphemous thing or a degenerate thing like they're loving homes they're just people that have the same genitalia that has nothing to do with anything it's not hurting anyone they're not asking you to watch it all of the things they're just people people that love each other and so whatever you do in your straight heteronormative uh relationship they are also doing because love is just love i just i don't know i don't know why that concept just goes over people's heads but anyway um the quiet moments are where love shines the brightest i know i just love watching them eat dinner and then watching the baby you know play his games and color and you know act like he know how to read but he don't i'm like bored life is a beautiful life i mean outside world i think it's boring but like you like revel in the simplicity of day-to-day uh life with your family when you had just been full love with your family okay so the reasons why i love the show it gave me cozy him feeling vibes like warm me so soup i could just just lay in bed and on my blankets and just watch this show because this family is so freaking cute their neighbors are cute yada yada yada um seeing a gay couple just you know live and love yes i just it's just so sweet and i just wish it was more shows like even irl shows like this uh if anybody knows any shows like this please let me know um i know i'm probably gonna move on for this subject because i can't remember the name of the channel it was basically lgbtq uh channel um like cable access channel um but yeah they had a lot of cute shows on there and i'm like just people live in life they just happen to be gay um and my last point on why i love this show it reminded me that softness is radical it really is because everybody want to be tough don't nobody want to take me take it you know quote unquote take advantage of but i'm like you can stop all this stuff you can still be your soft self and still have boundaries and have respect from others but the life is being soft okay finally i'm gonna be soft and i'm gonna be soft and i'm gonna be soft and uh you know common ground and love so that that's my little take on that show okay show number five we all love it we love to see it can't wait to season three solo leveling season two is what i'm talking about so the summary goes sun jian oh i can never say this man's name sung jinwoo is that dude uh from zero to beast mode this season is packed with insane boss fights power-ups and unexpected emotional weight can i just get it out the way that that man is so fine it was like his glow it was like uh explosive and then the voice is voicing that voice actor he's pretty damn cute in real life too but then that voice is like oh who you need me to rob daddy anyway my key takeaways um never underestimate your own potential yes that is like the truth to live by and that's why i love like when you go to different uh anime uh motivational anime instagram accounts where they have like all these inspirational quotes and then you know the anime uh it'll be a still image or a real is that like anime is highly motivational like if you ain't got your shit together watch you some anime go who gonna show you how to work out solo let me go show you how to glow up and believe in yourself and don't quit um my next takeaway is power doesn't mean abandoning your humanity exactly because that is the trope bitch you get some money you get some power and then you just turn into an automatic villain like even your backstory could have been oh i was bullied or i was weak or i didn't have a lot of friends and then the motherfuckers turn immediately evil as soon as they get some power like it doesn't have to be that way you can be the best of humanity with all the money and the power but we never see it we hardly ever see it even the real life billionaires today like it would be so cool if like a billionaire just woke up and was like you know what i can solve 50 percent of humanity's uh issues and struggles if i just you know fucking pay for it and then write it off bitch like you have all of the power but none of them seem to do that and you know yes some people are what they call a philanthropist but i'm like you're a billionaire giving out these little charities and i call this little five hundred thousand dollars it's nothing bitch just go ahead and pay for the resolution you could eradicate homelessness you could eradicate all these childhood illnesses that are terminal um or just chronic and you just you just won't i just i don't understand that i feel like i would be that type of billionaire and i think that's why i'm not a good quote-unquote business person because i don't like to take advantage of people i like to let people know all of their options um before spending their money like even me as an artist i tell people hey this is what my quote is um can you afford this and they're like i don't really have that so then i'll come back with another tailor-made quote well what about this it's a little less than what you wanted but it's not like trash that you you're not gonna be happy with you just pay me you just you hate what you pay for i like i like to help people where i can and i just don't understand why people that have the means unlimited means just can't and won't okay i got went off on a tangent let me get back to it okay my next point uh grief can shape heroes it really can because that man was out here trying to save his mama and did the damn do again everything i say moving forward is a spoiler okay i'm just i'm just chiming in with my thoughts so yes he did the damn thing just to save his mom that was the ultimate thing so i'm like now what is he living for that you know he saved his mom his family's back together i'm still trying to figure out why they they showed oh boy they came through the tunnel that they thought was like a feral demon but i think it's uh genwoo's dad i don't know y'all let me know um because i never read the uh the uh what is the webtoon is that where it was but yeah so they just showed him for like a couple of minutes at the end of an episode and then we moved on and never seen that yet um Listen, the reasons why I loved it, the animation had my jaw on the floor. Them fight scenes was out of control. Like when they were fighting this super ant. Why was he giving Hunter X Hunter the ant arc? But anyway, when they was fighting the ants, the super ant came out. He, Jinwoo and the ant was fighting so fast and hard. One of the dude that turned into the beast, his eyeballs was just moving him out of it. He couldn't even catch him like with the sight. They was moving faster than sound and light. So I was like, oh my God, it's so beautiful. And the fight choreographed scenes are everything. My next reason why I loved it, the story felt earned. His glow up wasn't easy. So I want to say this season it was, but first season it wasn't because he was going through portals where he was not prepared. And we didn't know if he was going to make it out of there by killing the boss or not. But then like the second season, he's just been flying through them fucking bosses. It was probably about two bosses. It was a little tough. And them orcs was not to be played with, but he figured it out. This nigga got all the ghosts, the shadow ghost army. He can figure it out. And he got all the unlimited mana. Let's see. And then my last point, that mix of fantasy, struggle and ambition. Peak anime. Okay. It's off the top. And, you know, I'm not good at pulling references too fast, but I don't remember the last anime that I saw like this where he had, you know, high stakes, you know, before his mom came back. But still, the high stakes is trying to keep all these people alive that don't know your secret because I could fight this fucking portal by myself. I don't need y'all. And then so also trying to keep this secret. But eventually he had to, you know, drop the curtain. And I was like, bitch, I can do it all. I'm not just a mage. I just let y'all run with this shit because I don't need y'all doing all my fucking business. And he fucking saved every fuck. Well, not everybody, but the majority. He saved 80% of the team from that. Arc thing. I don't know what they call me. I'm calling me ant arc. But, uh, yeah, it's just peak anime. Oh, shit. Hold on. My throat is dry. I'm going to take a pause. Okay. I'm back. Show number six is the undead murder farce. I haven't heard anything about this online and I fucking adore this show. You want to know what's crazy? No matter how much I adore a show, I cannot remember none of the motherfuckers names. Not the main protagonist. Not the supporting, uh, uh, characters, none of that shit, but anyway, love it. So the summary of this show is a headless, immortal detective, a demon like bodyguard and an all mysterious, uh, with all mysterious vibes is gothic is weird and it's addictive. Um, so my key takeaways were, uh, weird characters can be the smartest ones. Yes. Because the little woman with her head in a cage, I'm like, I adore her. She's so freaking smart. And she got all these little quips for, uh, the male protagonist on the show and the maid. I can't, I feel so stupid. I can't remember none of their names. I didn't write it down. I was just excited to get this episode out. Um, but it all works. Like they hold, they, they triple dynamic works and I love it. Uh, and they super weird, but they super smart as well. Uh, logic and chaos can coexist. Yes. Cause the main male character, I'm like, sir, what are you on one minute? I think you like highly functional. And the next minute you'll be on some goofy shit. Like, well, that's probably 70% of, uh, male anime characters, but I'm just like, it works. It works because he's whole, he's wholly chaotic, chaotic, but his chaos has logic behind it. Um, the world building done, right. Okay. Um, again, if you haven't seen the show, I'm sorry, but I like the way they're, you know what? They did stray away a little bit because the main portion of the show is that the head detective pun intended. The woman with the head in the cage, she is looking for her body that has been stolen, uh, by, uh, one of her rivals. I think he's using it to create monsters and give them immortality as well. But when they kind of strayed away from that and then they went into another, uh, plot line, um, trying to hunt down, well, they went to a different thing, solving different cases. And then the main, the ending plot of the season was about this group of, uh, humanoid werewolves. So I'm like, okay, what happened to Lizzie? Looking for the body. Are we going to get back on that? I'm not, you know what? I'm just going to enjoy the ride. Um, so yeah. So let me talk about why I loved it. Um, it's giving Victorian vampire murder with a twist. It really is. Uh, there's really only one vampire on the whole show and that bitch is bad to the motherfucking bone. Okay. And I love that her power is more like succubus powers because if she, is it, is it her blood or when she bites you and then the venom in her fangs makes you just. The full, feral, lustful beast. And I'm like, Ooh, that's tempting. I would love to have that power. Um, let's see the second reason why I love her, that, that humor dry, but deadly, it really is because the, the, the maid girl, I wish I knew her name. She be serving all of the shade to old boy, her, her co-star. And I think they got like some love tension shit going on maybe in further episodes. We'll see, but she be just, she just despises it. And I really think it's one of those. Uh, when you in love, when you're not in love, when you and your best friend are like, you know, I'm twisting my fingers, like y'all tight like that. And then a third wheel come in and you just be giving him all the shade. Like, Oh, this is my friend. That's your bitch. What are you doing here? I think that she's giving off that energy. Um, and then my last point, why I like the show, every episode had me feeling like I was solving the case too, because I was running in my head. Oh, it could be this. Is it this person? Is this what it was? This their motive? Like it's pretty damn good. Yeah. I need to give it a watch. And then get back with me and let me know what y'all think. I'm waiting for a season two. Okay. So, uh, episodes, I'm sorry. So show number seven, seven, um, is one piece egghead arc. Okay. I still didn't finish this arc before the new episodes came out. That's all right, because they're in English now. So sister can fly through it. So the summary of this arc, uh, the straw hats land on egghead Island, Vega punks lab of wild tech clones and world shaking. Secrets. Sci-fi meets pirate legend. So my takeaways from the episode, I'm so sorry. I'm just burping. Um, my takeaways from the episodes that I did watch oldest world building just leveled up again. Cause I was like, it is a lot of shit going on in this episode. Like this world is so fucking cool. It's like, um, it's a futuristic Mario. Uh, I don't know. Mega man. I don't know. It's, it's really cool. And I just love it. Um, next point, uh, the themes of truth, justice, and revolution are on full blast. As always, every arc is just give you the, uh, the raise the revolutionary rage of what the world government is trying to do in all of these arts. I'm just like, so relatable, especially right now. Like you are, uh, elected government officials. You know what? In the one piece world. I don't know. I think it's a linear thing, uh, how you get to be in the government. And then if you're a fighter, you can work your way up. But I'm like, these, you do know this little handful of people shouldn't have all of this power over the entire universe of individuals that's living in destitutes, dire straight situations. So I'm so sick of the world government. I just wish, uh, what is it? Uh, dragon would just take the ass. I just, just drop bombs. Just drop bombs. Anyway. Uh, what's my next point? Well, I didn't lose cause I'm thinking about our current political climate and I'm, I'm getting a little, little flustered. Um, let's see. Oh, my last point. Vega punk is that chaotic genius genius. We need it. I'm trying to figure out where he ran off to. That's where I am on the episodes because they had a plan and then he just dipped. But yeah, I kind of like his little world. He split himself up, uh, into multiple, um, uh, what you call those? Not robots, dro, I can't talk y'all. Um, I'm just going to say, uh, droids. That's the word I'm looking for. So he split himself up. I forgot how many of them they are, but they all have their purpose. And I'm like, he built a society with them. And I'm just like, is he schizophrenic? But I'm loving it. And I need to get back to it because the new episodes have started and my mission was to finish the episodes. That I hadn't. So I'd be on time with the new ones. I failed the mission. I got to watch all the shit. And I'm very, I'm very proud of myself because I don't even know what percentage of people I am in community with that have got through one piece this far. It's still people like, um, and, uh, and, uh, what's that damn seat? Don't get me going. Um, the arc where they was in the clouds with the sky people. And I'm like, bitch, you got a long way to go. Like, uh, Kevon state. He, he getting through it. And I love watching his journey, but he getting through it. Uh, the reasons why I love this, uh, arc, uh, it's one piece, uh, doing what it does, but surprising you. It really is. Um, and that damn Luffy is something else. Every time he just don't take nothing serious. And I'm like, this is all of the seriousness. We dealing with the world government. He was like, bitch, I'm just trying to be the pirate king. And when I have to touch that serious shit, I will tap into it. But otherwise I am fucking loving life and living it. Um, the science. I'm sorry, the sci-fi angle gave me cyberpunk chills yes it's uh it's pretty damn cool i didn't know when like before the art came out and i was looking at some of the uh the concept art i was like this this look kind of kind of kiddish but you know i'm gonna rock with it i'm gonna see what it's like and i am i'm actually liking it a lot it's a lot of creativity um and my last point of why i love it luffy versus the system i'm always here for it because he'd be giving them motherfuckers the blues taking that whole basis take it out they best of the best they think um and all of the things so watch the art catch up on the arc don't spoil it for me i know i'm in here spoiling for y'all but don't spoil it for the peoples because you know it's still people that's you know on arc number three or some shit like that okay and then the next show that i watched um was it's actually on max uh this is uh show number eight uh lazarus so i think it's only one or two episodes that are out i think i can't i can't think it's so much tv i've been watching um so the summary is set in 2052 a mysterious drug promises a disease-free life until it starts killing people an elite task force is formed to stop the chaos and take down the mastermind behind it so my key takeaways are sci-fi thrillers are at their best when grounded in real world fear yes because if it's more relatable it feels high stakes i'm like oh my god what if i was living in a situation fuck i'm just dead like why why why people just do unnecessary you know uh murder of the masses genocide um my second takeaway is action sequences don't need to be uh sacrificed they don't need to sacrifice from the story so yeah i hate when like action scenes it's just i'm gonna say the show is 80 action fight scenes like bitch where's the plot the plot ain't plot oh you should have just said this is just straight shonen we ain't talking about shit we just want you to see some cool ass fights and this is not that but the fight scenes are beautiful um my my point three mappa is just in a league of his own because i don't they like budget what fucking budget just draw just draw when we say stop and do the best drawing that you've ever done the best animated sequences you've ever done we'll talk about budget later and it shows because the shit is like liquid um liquid gold at this point everything they touch just like a phenomenon phenomenal phenomenal um and why i loved it let's talk about those points so i got three points on why i loved it uh the animation was fluid intense and stylish like i just talked about that like oh my god it's like a ballet basically a beautiful liquid ballet um the pacing was uh relentless in the best way the opening scene my my dude the opening scene in the jail the camera angles the way he was running around a jail the way he was uh um maneuvering the guards like getting away from it beautiful stunning i think i watched it twice because i also love capoeira it's a brazilian martial arts and i think the main character is brazilian um think about his name i think he's brazilian but yes capoeira is the most beautiful like fighting style i have ever seen in my life i think i did it for seven years and i want to get back to it but yes i was like oh my god my the the goose bumps on my skin was like standing up the hair on my arms was like standing up loved it um and then the last point um it felt fresh and gritty with every new twist um because we're just now that's why i say i want to say it's only two episodes but i can remember the first episode very clearly i think all of the the team members were like um giving a little bit of information about who they were and what they were bringing to the team and the lady that's over everybody and then her her lead which is the black dude with the glasses um i like it it all works together like they have a a good little uh blend of characters and they all work off of each other okay so now we're talking about show number nine this is not an irl uh irl like um seinfeld style tv show or max it's called the south side season one and two that's how far i've gotten if y'all have never seen the south side i'm just laughing thinking about different scenes in my head right now it is hilarious so here's the summary two friends fresh out of community college chase schemes and jobs on the south side of chicago is brilliant ridiculous and full of love these negroes is crazy like genius okay so okay let me get to my points because i can go off on a tangent about this show so my key takeaways hood comedy deserves a pedestal bitch and all the awards because i'm not from chicago but being black is relatable okay no matter where we're from and i just be like these fools are ridiculous but they comedy geniuses and we don't get enough recognition i have never heard of this show one day it just popped up on shows they think that i would like i was like south side let me see what this shit is and i'm so glad i clicked on it because i've seen it three other times um like at different points last year and i was like i don't know what that is i don't know what that shit is and then some i was i guess i don't know i was up one night and i was like let me see what this is and my husband was like yeah i've been seeing that one on mine too that was at like eight o'clock that night probably on like eight o'clock and i was like i don't know how many episodes in but from eight o'clock to like 11 30 and we was doing that oh just okay let's just watch one more and then we're gonna go to sleep okay let's watch one more we're gonna go to sleep and then we was finally done watching we landed in the dark and then like spontaneously one of us will bust that lab it was like what you laughing about and then the other one would say something from the show like his shirt too goddamn big and if you've seen the show you know what that that means i just we would just bust up laughing again all over okay point number two the south side ain't just struggle it's joy hustle and genius yes because these motherfuckers is struggling with all these little side hustles they trying to come up with these little side businesses and trying to uh skirt the system and i don't know help the community and also help themselves make a little ducats it's just it's hilarious and then they have all these uh celebrity appearances from um other uh residents of chicago that you know are in the entertainment business and then that shit is like a cherry on top cherry on top and then my last point is black absurdity is elite comedy and i just i can't stop laughing because i just think about everything so like one of the cops on the show she's so relatable to me because she a hot head i used to be a hot head but the most relatable thing is this bitch every episode she got a different wig on and i am the same way it used to be worse when i was in my 20s living in atlanta because one of my co-workers that i used to work with uh at crate and barrel shout out to isaac every time this fool would see me he would bust out laughing i was like what's funny isaac he was like bitch i'm gonna start calling you secret agent here because you i'm always thinking it's a new bitch working it's just you with some new hair and i just like man fuck you dog so yes i love it um okay so why i love it i laugh till i'm a fucking cry and every time i can go get out this podcast go watch me episode right now and i'm gonna uh shed 300 calories laughing at this fucking show um next point why i loved it every character was memorable that is facts because every show every show every um character no matter how big they part everybody is serving up comedy gold like to the smallest character to the to the main characters i'm like where are you where y'all finding these people y'all are and i'm just like give me more give me more and i don't even think it comes out no more i think it it made three or four seasons i get into it uh you know of course i'm gonna finish them but i'm like oh my god it's so much untapped talent in this show and it's giving like uh adult swim um comedy vibes like uh what was that show that title the creator was on i can't remember the title of it now and then all those you know goofy ass uh irl shows they used to come out on adult swim but this is like the top tier of them okay it's better than all of them um and then my last point of why i loved it it felt like family is loud messy uh loud messy hilarious family i just and that's that's black people that's us circumstances i think i ate that up so i'm gonna say it one more time the name of the show is oh my god yeah a series of extremely relatable circumstances so i don't know if you've seen this on max it's on max and it's an animated show i think it's a it's an adult swim cartoon i believe uh so let me give you summary a quirky series about the social and romantic chaos of everyday life it's awkward sweet and brutally honest so it's basically about these the main characters is it three is it three or four three or four black cheeks young black cheeks uh is it futuristic atlanta i don't know what the fuck because again Like all of Adult Swim cartoons, it is a hot fucking mess and it's all over the place. but still funny as hell um so these are my takeaways my three takeaways everyone's life is a little chaotic it's crazy i don't even know how to explain it y'all and i don't remember how many episodes they were and they they move so fast paced you're like what the fuck is going on but everything is funny yes i remember being like that because again i think they're like in their 20s like mid to late 20s maybe um and i remember me being the same way like a hot fucking mess but enjoying every second of it so i'm like oh my god they got to get their shit together eventually y'all do hopefully um point number two cringe is universal it really is it really fucking is because you don't have to be black to get this show and because this one episode i it was something about a roach but the roach had a whole life and like a family and a baby mama and it's just weird you if you watch adult swim you get that fucking comedy um and then point number three uh vulnerability connects us all yes because these girls they be there for each other they be like girl get your shit together but girl i love it but girl he is ruining your life but girl i guess i mean i kind of like it like okay no just you know be vulnerable and we're gonna work through this together okay so the reasons why i love it the storytelling was so specific it felt personal again like when i was in my 20s like yep we i guess we all live in the same fucking story uh just different races different ages um it leaned into awkward without being mean it did i'm sorry i'm so stupid i just be laughing thinking about different scenes but watch it y'all please watch it then my last point is gave me a reason to laugh at my own mess yes 20 year old quincy between 20 and 27 i had a fucking blast but i look back like bitch Jesus must have been sewn into the seams of your underwear because many a times you should have been dead. You should have made it through a lot of that shit. But you did. And you enjoyed every motherfucking second of that roller coaster ride. But, hey, you got to laugh at it. I lived through it. Now I'm, you know, 45 and I'm like, you was riding until the wheels fell off that shit. And then, you know, you get older and you're like, let me pick up the pieces of the ruins of my life and be an actual fucking productive citizen and adult of society. OK, so show number 11. Let's see. Common side effects. And it's on Max as well. And this has been getting some traction. The last show I've been seeing a few posts on Instagram, but this show I've been seeing a lot more on Instagram and a couple of blogs. So this summary of this show, it's a real drama about two friends drawn into a sci-fi conspiracy involving experimental drugs and alternative realities. So my key takeaways on this show. Don't remember these folks names either. I just remember a little fat dude. That's the scientist. And then a little skinny friend that works for the government. Key takeaways. Mental health deserves more sci-fi screen time. It really does. Because you get the feel feeling like it's a psychotropic thing. But. But psychotropics help because sometimes we got to step out of this fucking reality because it will take us down. Sci-fi can be tender and terrifying. Yes, because I could see the plot of this show being a real life scenario. And, you know, it's so much stuff that the government doesn't tell us. It's probably it's probably happening every day. It's probably drugs out there right now that will save us. But pharmaceutical companies and everything that follow up under that umbrella of people that capitalize on our pain and suffering, they wouldn't make money if they healed us. Like, how can you say that's not sustainable? We need people to be sick. We need people to be born sick. We need people to stay sick. And that's that's, you know, that's financially feasible for all of the evils involved, but not for humanity. And I worried about humanity. Worried about greenbacks. Don't trust the pharmaceutical industry. Facts. Because, you know what? Really, it's not the pharmaceutical company per se. And what I mean by that is the people that create the drug. They're just like we're creating this drug. And then that's purchased by, quote, unquote. I guess pharmaceutical companies. I don't know the tiers of what I'm trying to say. The people that make it and then the people that buy it from them and sell it to the to the world. Those are the fucking skeletors of the world. The people that, oh, well, I bought this created drug from these scientists at, I don't know, twenty dollars. And then I'm going to sell it back to the population for a thousand dollars. Like, what? That's crazy. Because your life isn't worth anything. Without our drug. A thousand dollars a day. Thank you. And I saw it on an episode of Law and Order. These people was taking a cancer drug that wasn't even fucking working. And it was a thousand dollars a day. Like people was losing their homes and everything. I'm like, how can you sleep at night? That's why I say it's evil. It's real life evil walking around out here. The reason why I love this show, because I haven't finished the series. I mean, the season yet. It got weird and stay weird. Because that dude on the pet shop. Bitch, if you know, you know, I'm like dangerous, but also kind, but don't fucking you know, what is me? I'm talking about me because he was high. He was giving vibes like, bitch, I am. I am a fucking threat. OK, but I will do my my very best to help you. OK, what do you need? I'm here for you. But don't fuck me because I will fuck you twice. Let's see my second point. A while of the show. It made me think twice about the cost of a healing. It really did, because I'm like, we got to take care of the health that we have now, because once you in a vicious cycle of pharma, big pharma, it's like it's hard to get out because we all hear it on the commercials. Like, how are you selling these fucking drugs? I had one issue, bitch, like my nose. I had allergies. But then I get on your fucking drugs and then you want to run this long list at the end of the commercial of 15 new fucking problems I'm going to have if I just want to get rid of my fucking drugs. Because my allergies. What? So you're giving me more sickness. And then I'm going to have to get on some more drugs to combat those illnesses that I didn't originally have to get rid of my original problem. Like, it's fucking weird. So last point. Don't get me on a tangent because they never go. They never cohesive, but they all mean something. Anyway, point number three, why I love this show. I was invested in the friendship more than the plot. Yeah, because I don't remember how far I got, but I was like, were they crushing on me? Did they crush on each other or was he just crushing on her? Did she have like a low key crush that she could live with or live without, live with or live without it? Like, why are you still with the shits? You have money. That's your exit out, bitch. But you just want to go get fucking therapy. Anyway, my takeaways, my key takeaways. Privilege is a monster. It so fucking is. And I just wish people would recognize more. That evil is, I mean, I'm sorry, privilege is the root of all evil because money comes with privilege. So, yes, bitch, privilege is the root of all evil. And people just no, no, I don't have any privilege. What do you bitch? If you have never struggled through half the problems of the world. At any point in your life, because a lot of us have been up and then back down, but guess what? We've been down, so we know how to get back up. And if we have to go back down, we didn't been there before. It's not a problem. It's you bitches that have never been down. It's one of your luck that fucking take your own lives when the shit hit the rocks. Like, you know, you have to rebuild, but you was born that way. So you don't know how to actually survive in this life without your money. Point number two, everyone's hiding something. I mean, that's a given, but we had no dead fucking bodies. And this season and all the other previous seasons. Point number three, the resort life comes with receipts. Facts and not and not one way like, you know, your fucking bill at the end of the trip. But the receipts of the bullshit of these people, I have never been on a vacation and have this type of shit. Somebody let me know. Somebody rich. Is this the kind of shit you go on when you go on extravagant European vacations? Or Asian vacations or African vacations?
