Q shares her transformative journey from a corporate catering job to becoming a successful entrepreneur in the cosplay and geek culture space. After being deeply impacted by the pandemic, she reflected on her life and realized that fear had held her back from pursuing her lifelong passion for drawing and creative expression. With support from a close online friend, Dr. Tiffany Jonna, she made the bold decision to leave her job, relying on freelance work, Uber driving, and a growing network of collaborators to maintain financial stability. She emphasizes that entrepreneurship is not just about grand ideas but about realistic planning, self-compassion, and balance—highlighting the need to set achievable goals, take regular breaks, and build a support system. Drawing from personal experience, she advises aspiring entrepreneurs to use free resources like WikiHow, define their target demographic and brand identity, and prioritize their mental health. She also stresses the importance of fair artist pricing, digital branding, and active social media engagement—especially on platforms like Twitter—where visibility can grow quickly. Ultimately, her story is one of resilience, self-discovery, and the belief that small, consistent actions can lead to meaningful success, all while staying grounded in personal well-being and community support.
and I want to tell everybody I appreciate you for coming I know it's the middle of the day
I work from home I know some people you know listen to podcasts while they work
um so I mean it's kind of the same thing you don't have to look at me while I'm talking I
just wanted to get some things off my chest and help somebody if they're looking for help or
drop a bug in somebody's ear if they needed it
okay so it's 1103 and I'm gonna get into it so hi everybody I'm Q I'm the owner and creator of
Everyday Cosplay Collection I also started out with gadgets and geekery that's what got me into
social media and knowing all of you wonderful people um and then I also have a podcast called
Geeky Sexual and Intellectual uh through the Gadgets and Geekery Network and I'm going to
work um so yeah I'm doing all of the things so that's one of the reasons why I'm talking to you
I'm doing too many of the damn things so uh basically I wanted to start from how all of
this stuff got started to where I am today so I want to say you know everybody knows COVID hit us
and it hit us pretty hard and the only upside if there is an upside to COVID is that people
could take a moment to reflect like self-reflection uh reflection on family reflection on their health
uh so on and so on the list goes on so I want to say when COVID hit my job let me uh work from home
because I was in catering um so everything that I could do in the office I could do on my computer
I had a printer at home um I could call clients from home because I could bring my desk phone
which is a wi-fi phone to home I could do everything from home um and I had actually
been preaching this um at the radio station I was working at I worked in radio uh here in Texas for
six or seven years and so I worked in the digital department uh because that's my background I'm an
artist I'm a digital artist graphic designer all this stuff so I'm doing digital sales and radio
and everything I did all the software I ever used was digital there was no reason for me to hold a
brick and mortar office you know I don't know make an electric electricity bill go up so I
tried to talk to my my supervisors about you know working from home uh three days two days
a week whatever and we could do video conferences if it was an immediate need so that was like shoot
I don't know 2017 maybe 2016 2017 no I don't think I don't know how that's gonna work blah blah anyway
COVID hit and folks had to work from home we made it work it always worked I can kind of see into
the future sometime but I was like I bet whatever anyway fast forward working in catering working
from home so it really wasn't my passion but I've always had administrative jobs uh I like
organization I like uh creating organizational organizational uh uh programming and systems and
policies and all of that stuff so I enjoyed that aspect of it um but in the end it really didn't
work out um and I couldn't really tell you why and I don't really want to get into that anyway
that time of reflection uh in catering we did have to come back to work so when we got back to work
things were a little tense which is understandable we're all like stressed out from COVID but I think
we had to come back to work and so I had to go back to work and I was like what the hell is going on
I was like what the hell am I gonna do I'm gonna keep you know feeling this way coming in doing the
best I can and you know whatever the case and I said you know what I don't have a problem telling
people I'm now 42 at that time I think I was uh yeah I was 41 it was last year so I was like you
know you've been having this dream all your life you've been drawing since you were five years old
what are you doing and so when I thought about that it was fear fear holds you back from everything
and my fear was in like a level so it was like graduated fear so when I was young and in art
school I'm like I'm free to do whatever I want you know I quit a job get another job quit a job
because I only had to depend on me to take care of me so as I got older I had a daughter I have a husband I have
bills I have mortgage so all those things depended on a stable income and I was like I just I just
kept doing it because I was fearful that I wasn't gonna be able to take care of my family off of a
dream so I said okay it's a lot of jobs out there now what do you want to do you want to get another
job and I was like ah no I don't want to get another job hey hey hey ghoul cosplay oh I'm
sorry if I'm reading you do you feel do you feel a trigger
you can slap me in my DMs later but yeah so I was like what do you want to do you want to get
another job no I don't want to get another job well what you gonna do well I drive uber I can
drive you've done it before to get from one job to another job drive uber again I was like oh but
that's a lot of driving to like compensate for your regular salary what are you gonna do I said
okay so drive uber and then what else you gonna do so there's an app called up work and it's like
a job you can think of art accounting home assistance personal assistance anything you
can think of you put your resume on there you apply for the jobs you can be it's kind of like
a bidding system and you get jobs you get paid it is seamless it's like an awesome program and I'm
just not starting to see commercials for it so I said okay I'll do some freelance artwork on there
got on there you know got approved blah blah got a couple of clients so I said okay so you got two
forms of income now I made a friend I made a friend I made a friend I made a friend I made a
friend you know how we always say that ain't your friend well old people say that we in the future
we live in the future on the internet y'all some of y'all that follow me y'all my friends I've been
knowing y'all forever so anyway uh there's a lady by the name of uh well I'm sorry she's not a lady
they are they and they go by the name Dr. Tiffany Jonna um and we met through an artist by the name
of Saxton Moore uh to do an art project for Tiffany and so that was I want to say maybe two years ago
and we just I don't know we just meshed so we have been talking for years just stupid little dms
um and sending each other inspirational quotes and like she would say just put out posts that say hey
I don't know you and you don't know me this would say everybody it was just a post on her feet
if you needed to talk if you need someone if you need support write me today so I just sent her
I was like I'm having a bad day I don't know what to do with my life I have anxiety I don't know I
don't know what to do with my life I don't know what to do with my life I don't know what to do with my life
so I wrote her wrote them and then she I'm messing all my pronouns up they wrote me back and said
talk to me just talk to me like you just shooting it out into the air and I did and I cried like a
baby so they actually called me the day that I decided I wanted to leave my job and I had told
my husband like a week or two earlier I said I don't know if I can do this anymore um I've tried
to take it as long as I can and I'm like I don't know what to do with my life I don't know what to
do with my life I don't know what to do with my life I don't know what to do with my life I don't
know what to do with my life I don't know what to do with my life I don't know what to do with my life I can't I don't think I could do it so he told me hey I believe in you whatever you need to do let me know just let me know when you're gonna leave so Tiffany calls me and I couldn't get to the phone and they leave me a voicemail that I still have saved to this day and they just went on and on and on like you you deserve more uh take a chance on yourself it's okay to be afraid but don't live in that fear move forward um I'm here if you need me call me blah blah blah so I called them and I say you don't even know I needed that today and I'm
and I listened to that three times and I just sat in my car and cried and then um that day I put in my notice and my boss was pissed you know justifiably so but anyway I called Tiffany back and I said I left my job and they said don't even worry about it I got a job for you and I was like look at God so I could keep doing Uber I could do my freelance jobs and I could work with Tiffany so we were on a contract
uh job then after that I know you all have heard of the blurred girl I did a couple of projects with the blurred girl uh freelance so I was like look at God so and so it was like something was like come on Quincy you ever seen that meme where it's like Jesus it's a picture of Jesus and a little kid and a little kid has a little bear and God is like give me that and I have something great for you and it's like a big bear behind him but you can't
let go of something to until so you can get something great you can't it's like a monkey bar you can't keep holding on you got to move forward or backwards and I want to move forward so I released that to God and I was like you know I'm not a religious person but I'm a spiritual person I believe the universe sends things into your life you got to have enough courage to you know step on it move forward so I said oh my God I'm so fearful like I could throw up but I did it and I told myself you know what your husband supported you but you got to give yourself a cutoff time and I was like oh my God I'm so fearful like I could throw up but I did it and I told myself you know what your husband supported you but you got to give yourself a cutoff time and I said oh my God I'm so fearful
you can't just be out here an aimless dreamer what are you gonna do to keep supporting your family I said okay I'm gonna give myself six months to figure it out you know struggle or whatever drive it over and these freelance jobs and so six months came everything's still going good but before that six months I said okay what else you want to do because these contract jobs that I'm doing is still art that I love to do but step it up so you love to draw like I said
I've been drunk.
since i was five years old i said so how are you going to implement that in your life so over at
gadgets and geekery i was um like creating t-shirts since 2014 and i sell one here sell
one there blah blah blah but it was nothing immaculate that you know people was just going
i gotta gobble it up i was you know it was like font designs and stuff like that so i said i want
to expand on that so i started looking around um and i think i only found one maybe two companies
that were in the demographic of what i was looking for for myself so me personally like i told you
um i'm 42 been watching anime since 1994 uh so i just love anime my husband like yeah don't watch
no because i tried to watch crime tv and scared the shit out of myself he was like no that's not
your lane go back to anime so anyway my point is i was trying to look for anime clothes for women
um that followed my demographics
so i'm older women which is not just for older women but women plus size women i mean i love when
i was a thin woman i can wear everything under the sun the world under my oyster i can run the
gambit on clothes i'm not that woman no more and i'm fine with that but i don't want to try to buy
men's clothes and make it work for my body like buying a t-shirt and then cutting it up and you
know whatever trying to make it work because there's a ton of companies for anime clothes for
men and
women just you know well that's what's there i'll just buy that stuff and i got tired of doing that
uh because either it felt boxy on me it felt like it was rising up like shirts in the back my boobs
were smashing my chest suffocating me uh it was it wasn't made for hips and butt so it was tight
through there but then loosened the leg whatever and it just it wasn't cute like you could tell
even the color schemes like you know we live in the gender fluid uh world but you could tell this
wasn't made for women
this was made for men and hey if you show should so like it and you a woman then you know wear it
thank you for your money thank you for your contribution yada yada yada so like i said i've
been drawing on my life and i said i want to make women's clothes best of both worlds i'm my own
artist which can be a curse and a blessing because i was telling somebody i wish i had a twin that
knew how to draw exactly like me and then we could take shifts so i'm gonna give this wasn't supposed
to be like a seminar or anything
on how to be an entrepreneur i know the title says let's talk about entrepreneurship but it's just
talking about the life of an entrepreneur uh because everybody you know i'm not gonna say
everybody a lot of people say they want to be their own business owners but they don't know
what that really entails it's just it sounds glorious and it sounds amazing and then we see
you know the fabulous instagram uh uh profiles of people that are business owners i'm like who
they live in they best life bitch i want to be like them that shit's hard so and that's what i
what brought me to be an entrepreneur i'm not gonna say everybody a lot of people say they want to be
me here because i had to take a sabbatical um last week and then two weeks before that um i made
myself sick i had to take off for a day because i was telling tiffany uh we talk about entrepreneurship
all the time and so i was telling them that being an entrepreneur for me i'm not gonna say for
everybody being an entrepreneur for myself is like being it's the equivalent of being a crackhead
okay and so what i mean by that is a crackhead is always looking for
that next high right so me i'm in some ways a perfectionist so i'm always thinking about the
next idea like i got pages of ideas but i only got two hands and i only got so many hours in a day
and i have a family that i gotta take care of you know so i can't if i could i would draw from sun up
to sundown but that's not healthy that ain't gonna help nobody so i was telling her telling them that
i feel like a crackhead i said because i'm laying in bed and i'm thinking about what i could be doing
if i wasn't laying in bed and
they were like that's not healthy so you gotta implement off days i was like what's the off day
when you're an entrepreneur they were like yeah we know you but you gotta do it so i finally got
to the point where i started taking off saturday and sunday unless it was just necessary um and
they were like you need to move once you get saturday and saturday saturday and sunday down
you need to take fridays off because they were telling me that they have a friend that owns their
own business they take the first week of every month off whether it's to go travel to another
state vacation uh island something they just take the first week off so i was like i can't wait i get
that sweet spot and stop twitching out over here like a crackhead so that's where i was coming from
today like god i'm burning my i'm trying not to burn myself out i'm really trying because it brings
me so much pleasure and joy to create these clothes for everyday cosplay because i know it's
been women out there that feel like me but they didn't feel like they had another option
or they just didn't have the uh the artistic ability to make it happen so i'm just gonna do
a quick rundown uh because uh black unicorn my um my instagram bully friend she keeps motivated
but i call her my bully friend uh she told me uh you're gonna be telling folks like it's gonna be
like a step-by-step on how to be an entrepreneur i was like no but i can kind of throw that in
there i guess so basically my little bullet points is you know people like well how do
you know when you need to leave your job i can't tell you that you got to be ready to just strike
out on faith and just take a chance because like my mom told me a long time ago oh you can leave
a job like people stay at jobs forever in a day that's old school okay because it's millions of
jobs out here whether they're uh in a in a building or online remote um so because the
day you die that's not the last what how did she say it uh this is not gonna be your last job you
have many more jobs before you die so take a chance thank you girl the legacy is amazing thank you
um but yeah so just take a chance just take a chance and you can always get another job if it
don't work out let's see i'm literally in this exact position right now stepping out on faith
you got to because fear can be petrifying and you can't move you won't move you can't let it take
over you like that because it's just an emotion and then once you break through it you'll be like
bitch what was you upset about what was you what was you scared of
i'm country so yeah my country were scared don't be scared so anyway you got to figure out when
it's a good time to leave your job for you i had i think only like in just my my goof off money not
in our savings account but just like my goof off money and money i used to pay the bills i think i
had four thousand dollars in the bank when i left i said you're gonna have to make it work before
this four thousand dollars work out and start being able to add to this four thousand dollars
whether that's saving up enough money saving up three to four months worth of uh bills and
utilities before you leave your job uh driving uber i made good money driving uber i know it's
a lot of horror stories about uber and doordash and all that stuff i never experienced that and
i started driving uber back when it was brand new so i think i started driving uber back in uh
two thousand fifteen or sixteen uber is totally different than it was then
um you can make thirty dollars an hour messing around with uber and i when i was doing it i was
doing like part-time um so yeah it just was a means to an end so it was nothing i've done uber
full-time that's some hard that's like being a truck driver that is hard and i was driving people
and doing deliveries now i just do deliveries like you are your own boss with uber um you get
paid every week um you can even cash out early um they've even implemented the system like if the
trip is further than you need to go uh like this like let's say it's 30 miles away there's no
drivers in the area so they give you an additional fee for having to go so far out from where you
originally started because they know and gas prices jacked up they sent out an email about
that hey we're gonna start giving you a gas fee for that so they have been uh listening to their
drivers and implementing more ways to uh have a lucrative income and don't feel like you just you
know running your car down putting all these miles on it spending all this money on gas
uh yada yada yada it's a it's a good way i can't speak on doordash but i've driven uber for years
and i've only had one exp bad experience and that wasn't even bad my my passenger was just rude as
hell but that's it and like you don't even have to put people in your car so yeah so just come up
with a plan that you are secure with don't do nothing like well my homegirl said i should just
quit and just your homegirl ain't got to pay your bills you got to come up with your own plan um so
next after that brainstorm on what you're going to do next um i'm going to give you a little bit of
what you want to do i'm thinking of starting up my biz where can i get help with the business plan
there uh what is it ask.com i think that's what it's called they have you can type in anything
and it'll show you how to do it let me you know what i got my computer open right now i think it's
called ask hold on i'm looking right now because it's is that it no it's not it i think it's called
give me one second because when i found this website i was like why don't more people
know about this oh it's called wiki how so everybody know wikipedia and stuff so yeah
wiki how you can type in anything and it'll tell you how to do it step by step and it had like
these goofy illustrations on each paragraph but it's beneficial like you can you can do a business
plan through a wiki help i mean wiki how and it'll tell you how to do it step by step and it'll tell
sorry um.com um is your clothing most
for plus-sized women asking for us big boys lol uh yeah so a lot of the items
men can wear men have wore another one of my ambassadors Aisha absolutely Aisha
her husband wears the hell out of his Tanjiro hoodie so I would just say for
men what anybody I'm not gonna say that go to the website and make sure you
measure yourself because everybody knows especially plus-sized women a large and
a large and a 2x don't be a 2x you're gonna have to either try that on
I'm an online store so you can't but I put my measurements up if you go to the
FAQs at the bottom of the screen then you can click on sizing chart and then
you just measure yourself and just go by those measurements don't always go by
the letter inside of it where did I leave off Oh
brainstorming so yeah so if you already have a passion that you know you want to
strike out on then half the work is done for you
just start working on how to implement that go to a wiki how and figure out how
to start moving forward with that reach out to some people online that are doing
what you're what you want to do or you know in the same vein of what you're
doing and ask them questions sometimes people won't be forthcoming when I'm
doing illustration I've started using procreate probably about two years ago
got the iPad start using procreate I've always been a pencil and paint acrylic
artist so I was like let me try a digital art so I was like let me try a digital art so I was like let me try a digital art
couldn't figure out how to make my hand sturdy like the lines were just jacked
up and I would reach out to artists I was like hey can you you know help me I
don't know how to keep my hand sturdy people write a practice you could have
kept that you know you know I'm practicing don't play with me it's got in
that it's all these different slider bars in there to you know change the
effect of something so I was like I know I'm practicing I'm holding my hand I'm
trying to get it down so one artist helped me out and he actually took his
lunch break to make videos on how how to use the stabilization tools in procreate
and from that day my lines being Chris damn that Chris been a bitch okay and
that cost him nothing if you know some people think every minute of their time
is worth money sometimes the I get paid if you want to see it that way out of
helping people sometimes I guess I get high off of helping people and making
other people happy like it's been so many times I've helped people and people
like once you just too nice you give away too much information for free yada
yada yada list goes on but it makes me feel good if that's it brings me joy so
is it a selfish act maybe but I like helping people everything don't cost
something I'm not gonna let you take advantage of me because I've been that
a road to but just sometimes just help people it don't cost you nothing so I'm
So, brainstorm. Come up with, okay, how do I do this? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. How much money would I need for something like that? Can I do this online? Will I do local sales only? Will I do international sales? Blah, blah, blah. I don't know what your thing is, but just, like I said, always be brainstorming.
Let's see. So, I don't know why I wrote down working on your dream. I guess, what does your dream look like? Who's your demographic?
How long do you think it's going to take to get this product or idea live to your demographic? Let's see.
Oh, and the support. I should have said that first. It's good to have a support system.
If you don't, you and your higher being should be your support, okay?
The people you reach out to that you know through social media.
It was another post I saw. Ain't no support like an online friend that you ain't never met.
I don't know how many people I've met that just support me, ain't never been in the same room with me, ain't never hugged me, that support me.
One person, his Instagram is your pal Mitch.
No matter what I do, Mitch be on my goddamn side. Do you hear me?
He's like, oh, that's what you're doing now? Bet.
Oh, you started that podcast? This fool was in his Uber.
And made his Uber driver give him the auxiliary so he could listen to the podcast.
And the Uber driver's like, this lady crazy.
So that's why I say I never forget Mitch no matter where I go.
If I become big and famous one day, I'm going to always be shouting out his praises because that brother always had my back.
So yeah, just find your support system.
It ain't always going to be family.
Sometimes family be jealous.
Like I dare her have the audacity to think she can do better than what we've been doing.
What's wrong with working a job?
Nothing is wrong with working a job.
Somebody got to work to keep the planet spinning on its axis, but it ain't for everyone.
Some people are very analytical.
They feel like prize and praise and they get satisfaction out of working for a corporation.
Creatives usually don't do that well in corporate America.
And I've done corporate America.
I've been working since I was 16.
I was unhappy the whole time.
At one point in life, I had to be on medication to just keep working at my job.
I was on full blown meds to keep working.
My job that I should have left, but fear again said, you need this job.
Take these goddamn drugs to keep coming up to this corporate job you hate.
And that was sad that I did that to myself.
But never again, I'll never do that again.
And that was the thing, too.
I haven't been this happy in my life.
Yes, I was happy when my daughter was born.
Yes, I was happy when my husband was born.
And those are momentary events in life, but they can't translate.
And I was happy when my husband was born.
And I was happy when my daughter was born.
this geometric like diamond-shaped heart in the back of everyday cosplay
connection no if it doesn't even say everyday cosplay collection eventually
people are gonna know oh that pink heart that's everyday cosplay and eventually I
want to put it on the clothes like a Nike swoosh you can see you don't have
to say Nike you said it swoosh you know it's Nike you know I'm just you know
calling the blessings from the universe down upon me today then one day I'll get
to that level so I'm like yes you got to you got to if you believe in it the
other people to believe in if it looks like I like commercial look I like a
nice clean look so if it don't look like your baby cousin that ain't took but one
graphic design class at the Community College do it for you it's going to look
that way and my husband like you bougie I'm like I just been doing art on my
life you can always do it yourself DIY yes you can it's plenty of platforms
that allow people to create their own marketing whatever your social media
websites but if you don't have the training it can come off looking a
little elementary and what I mean by that is if you go to a website nine
times out of ten you can tell if somebody took the time and dedication
to do it themselves or paid someone that had that dedication and skill or it had
been janky everybody had been to a janky website you don't feel comfortable
putting your website I mean your credit card information on them websites so
take if you believe in it and you see it the longevity anything put the money
towards it it's worth it it'll come back to you like me and Frankie fantastic
Frankie we did a t-shirt design together and so she asked me what my price was
for illustrating I told her what my price was for illustrating you don't do
nothing crazy because at that point that's you you crossing over to it being
immoral because I'm like oh you know what Frankie got this huge following and you
know a lot of people gonna like this shirt so she asked me what my price is
this what my price is but Frankie finna make a killing so I'm finna knock my
price up here like that's just crooked as hell I told her what my price was she
did the damn thing people loved it and I didn't have to get the the residual
effect of that t-shirt directly into my pocket a lot of people saw that design
and people was rocking with it so people started contacting me that's how I got
my additional cost I guess there's somebody else cricket would have threw
on top because they kept bringing business to me they brought clients to
me so I'm like you got to think of it like that too so I always be executing a
plan so first I say come up with your your branding like what you want your
company company to look like is it gonna be quite is it gonna be cool is it gonna
be masculine you know we live in fluidity now is it gonna be masculine is
gonna be feminine you know what your color schemes are what's your company
motto why did you start your company like even with my clients when I do
their logo so I do company logos and websites I send them I think it's a oh
my god people be like but I send them a eight page questionnaire just full of
questions and that's another way that I try to figure out if people are serious
or not
about their company because the people that sit down and fill it out all days
for real for real because it get it what do you think shoes not to work with me
it's good for them to have it's a tool as a company you know starting a startup
company it asks tons of questions so then they
return it back to me I say okay they a1 they want to do this so then I know what
to create for them because they put their heart into this questionnaire so I
know where to start from let me see go back up to some
questions yes I'm trying I'm always trying to speak it into existence okay
black unicorn my bully best friend it says I have paid you for many things and
have been happy every single time people pay their price without arguing yes and
that's another thing if you let's say you want to do what I'm doing you don't
know how to draw you can still do what I'm doing you can find an artist there
are plenty of artists on Instagram but once they tell you what their price is
one of two things
you say oh that's a lot okay they told me what their price was let me start
saving up my money so that I can meet their quote and just say you know thank
you I'm gonna hold your quote when I'm ready to purchase I'm a move forward on
it or number two find you a cheaper artist that's the only thing you can do
I've had people actually try to haggle with me on my price this is what I have
said at my value okay you can't tell me what my value is
well okay you had a package so can you can you take this this this and I'll know
now you're trying to redesign my packages I told you what my price was
all you need to tell me is if we moving forward we're gonna take a pause or no
thank you please don't do that to artists please please please please
please everybody's value is different you may think well they work ain't all
that you okay you may think that but don't tell them that go find somebody
else thank you for your time I reconsider if I like to move forward
don't you ain't got a doubt belittle them and downgrade them I didn't have to
send it out child and then I just hit that block but yeah that whole branding
thing social media is very important and you know what I I don't think enough
people say this people be sleeping on Twitter okay if you go follow some
twitch gamers they Twitter's are off the chain like they got followers in the high
thousands the hundred thousands it's crazy because the I want to say the
algorithm rhythm is not trash Instagram trash Facebook trash I don't really know
about tik-tok yet but I'm on the fence but Twitter they algorithm is crazy okay
so I would say do some do some posts on spend some time on Twitter a lot of
people sleep on Twitter but Twitter is funny as hell first of all black Twitter
hallelujah but yeah you can do a paid post on Twitter for $50 and you can reach
over a hundred thousand impressions so I say give that give that a look and then
my last little thing was get the word out so like reach out to people once you
start getting the ball rolling you feel the most secure I'm sorry let me see
that part King you can't tell me what my value is I don't understand what people
don't get about that I don't need the child know who told in that who got this
started cuz that ain't the trend that's not the vibe anyway yeah tick-tock is
trash too I saw a woman that thinks she broke the algorithm because she writes
algorithms so she was saying the amount of views you get you should get this
percentage of likes and then that percentage of likes you should get this
many comments and I'm like girl you know funny I'm not I'm not gonna spend all
the time on this shit but yeah so I would say get the word out so the whole
get the word out is like we were just talking about get into your social media
once you start figuring out you want to do something you like the branding you
figure out what the name of your company is go ahead and get all those social
media accounts
because one of two things is already been taken then you're gonna have to
alter the way you spell it well you're gonna have to put some underscores in it
and all that stuff so go ahead and get your Instagram your Facebook your
Twitter your tick-tock your website if you're not even ready to just start
paying somebody to build a website you're gonna build it yourself go ahead
and buy your domain now because once I you you go in there you like I'm dead
set on this name this is my company name blah blah blah and then you go do a
search on GoDaddy and see this already taken and then you're gonna have to buy
it from somebody which you would the domain would have been $12.99 a month now
you got to buy it for somebody from 80 for $80 and then $12 a month like ah so
that it can be heartbreaking it can be done but it can be heartbreaking so to
say all of that this is what I come to so I've done all the things I got the
website I got the social media branding I've got the logo I got my wonderful
beautiful amazing ambassadors and I had the motivation to create create all the
things but I put these I don't want to say limitations but it's like they're
inflexible standards on myself I did that to myself so what I want to say to
y'all is don't do that you got time you you need to breathe you need to take
breaks because when I had got sick a couple of weeks ago that was scary as
hell like I felt like I was dehydrated every muscle in my body I had a flu no I
was just tired so take the breaks yeah because I was like I want to say I said
I took last week off so the week before that I was like okay so you supposed to
have this Jojo collection come out so right now every week I released three
pieces for the top tier collection if you haven't seen it so it's basically a
font design that has all the top tier anime that us nerds go back and forth
about no that's not goat this one is this one bit this is the top top tier of
all this I can't believe it why is that even on the list so that's what that
collection is and so that one was an easier collection to get out which would
allow me time to draw my chibi Jojo collection that supposed to come out
next month I may be the middle of next month because I started
drawing, uh, my stencils and then other work projects, uh, when my other freelance jobs got
in the way. And then I was like, I'm not finding time to rest. So I was like, Oh God, the deadline
is coming up. What deadline Quincy? I did that to myself. The deadline can be moved because you,
the boss, you, you put in all these expectations and standards on yourself. That's going to make
you panic and have anxiety and all this blood pressure up. So I was like, take the week off.
And I miss doing drops for the top tier last week, which I'm going to do this week because I feel
like I can breathe now and I can move forward with the next steps. So I'm going to start back
on the Jojo, um, Chibi drawings. So I can start trying to get that collection out, uh, the middle
of May. Um, but that's basically all I wanted to share with you guys. Set goals, but don't
set untangible, uh, goals and unrealistic expectations on yourself. Uh, because you
don't only want hurting you at the end of the day, because yeah, you can share what you want to do for
the, but at the end of the day, nobody's your supporters. They're not doing the work you're
doing the work. So you set up was feasible for you to complete in a timely manner where you don't
make yourself sick. Okay. So that's my time. How long I've been here? Cause I was like,
I'm finna go in here. I'm finna cry.
I'm glad I didn't cry. So it's, uh, here in Texas, it is 1144. We did this for about 44
minutes. So, and we had some good folks in here. We had some good comments. Let me see if we had
some questions. I don't think we had any questions. It was just all up in here, but, um, yeah, like,
uh, black unicorn said good artists aren't cheap and cheap artists are not good. Yes. And that is
also a subjective, but yes. So if anybody has any questions again, I'm your girl Q
over here.
Everyday cosplay gadgets and geekery. I also have Quincy be drawing. Uh, my high top tier
company is artists for hire. So all of those are my Instagrams. Um, you ever have any questions
or you want to collaborate together, uh, give us a holler in the dams. So that was it. I may do
this from time to time, you know, just to vent. I mean, that was a good event. That wasn't like
a negative blend. That was a fun, uh, uh, event and an informational event, uh, and inspirational.
So, uh, so yeah, just, um, just let us know. All right. Y'all have a good day. Be blessed,
be safe. Cause homegirl had an accident this morning and hallelujah. There go God. He was
like, Nope, let me cut this call.

FAQs
My inspiration came from noticing that most anime clothing was designed for men and didn't fit women well—especially plus-sized women. I saw how uncomfortable and boxy those clothes felt, and I wanted to create a line that was specifically designed for women, offering comfort, fit, and style.
I realized my passion was in art and organization, not in catering. After a period of reflection during and after the pandemic, I left my job to pursue freelance art and creative projects, which eventually led me to start my own cosplay clothing brand.
It's okay to take a leap of faith. You don’t need to be ready for it all at once—start with a small plan, like using side income (e.g., Uber) to support yourself. Fear is natural, but it shouldn’t stop you from moving forward. Always have a backup plan and a few months of savings.
I provide detailed sizing charts and encourage customers to measure themselves. I also use real-world feedback and adjust designs to fit different body shapes, especially for plus-sized women who often don’t find suitable options in existing brands.
Social media is crucial for visibility and community building. Platforms like Twitter and Instagram allow me to connect with customers, showcase products, and build a loyal following. I also use it to share behind-the-scenes content and engage with my audience.
I set clear boundaries by taking regular breaks and off days—like weekends or full weeks off. This helps prevent burnout and keeps creativity flowing. I also remind myself that it’s okay to slow down or pause when needed.
