Rules to Win Your Draft. Plus, Bill Simmons Pitches Fantasy Football 'Grenades'
103m 30s
The episode centers on fantasy football draft strategy for the upcoming season, with hosts Danny Hype, Danny Kelly, and Craig Korolbeck providing actionable advice. They begin by analyzing Stefan Diggs' move to Washington, ranking him in the 80s-90s as a flex play with upside, while noting he elevates Jayden Daniels' value without diminishing Terry McLaurin's role. The 49ers' injury crisis ("substation") is a major red flag, leading them to advise against drafting Brock Purdy or other San Francisco players due to the team's cursed vibe. Core strategy emphasizes waiting on quarterback and tight end unless elite values like Josh Allen or Brock Bowers fall, prioritizing two of the top 12-13 running backs early and stocking up on five receivers in the first 10 rounds. They stress knowing your league's sharpness and platform (e.g., ADP discrepancies like Kyler Murray on Yahoo vs. Sleeper) to exploit value. Tight end sleepers include Sam LaPorta, Dalton Kincaid, and late flyers like Terence Ferguson and Greg Dulcich; running back sleepers like Jonah Coleman offer late-round upside. The hosts also propose a fun league "grenade" rule where teams force opponents to start a waiver-wire quarterback, inviting listener feedback. They close with rookie hype (e.g., Denzel Boston) and praise the season's strategic depth, urging drafters to chase league-winning upside rather than safe floors.

My name is Danny Hype and today I'm joined by Danny Kelly and Craig Korolbeck and today we are going to talk draft strategy for this year.
We're just going to tell you what to do and who to take because at the end of the day, that's kind of all it is.
And we're going to actually just tell you strategies.
And then we'll just give you names.
And that sounds about right, right?
Yeah, and Hypevitz will provide his phone number
so when you're actually drafting and you have a question, you can just call him.
I feel like half the battle with being a fantasy analyst is just people just want someone to blame.
So like sit start advice, it's like I don't know what to do so you tell me what to do
and that way I can get mad at you if it's wrong.
We should set up a phone number that you can send, you can take a picture of your draft
and be like what grade would you give it?
And we just automatically text back A+.
Wow, you crushed it.
You got him then?
Damn.
I do think historically if you draft off of our rankings, you get a terrible grade in like
whether it's Yahoo or ESPN or whatever.
We're just different.
That's sites rankings and we're like don't use the site.
So the site's going to hate your draft.
But that's the point.
So the people get upset.
It's a rite of passage if you listen to our show.
We're going to get a draft strategy and then the end of the show we're going to have Bill Simmons on.
So Bill Simmons is going to come on.
We don't know why.
Will you?
I have to talk to you guys about something at the end of your show.
Classic Bill saying you don't know what the segment is, but I'm going to come on and we're like okay.
Really?
Cool.
All right.
So we're going to get into that and some news.
Stefan Diggs, Simon Washington.
But first, we're going to take a quick break.
This episode is presented by Verizon.

Draft strategy, Bill Simmons.
But first, Stefan Diggs signed with Washington Commanders.
Brandon Ayuk kind of blew that one.
Felt his knees in a Walmart.
They asked Adam Peters, the GM of Washington, if they ever take social media into account with signing a player.
And he said, usually not.
No.
Yeah.
Usually.
There was like one word, one little phrase at the very end where he was like, usually not.
Usually not.
So the Washington signed Stefan Diggs.
I mean, it's interesting to me for the NFC East and for fantasy in general.
But I'm curious.
We purposely did not talk.
Where do you guys want to rank Diggs?
We kind of avoided doing it until he signed.
So now that he's on Washington, obviously Terry McLaurin's the number one.
And Diggs is two.
DK, where do you want to put Diggs in our rankings at fantasyfootball.3 or.com?
I don't know.
I think he's probably in.
He's probably honestly not that far behind.
Terry McLaurin.
Now, I don't know what he does to McLaurin.
I think he does drop McLaurin down a little bit.
But I do.
I do think he can still play.
You know what I mean?
Like, and he's been pretty much everywhere he's gone.
He's been productive and he's elevated the quarterback play.
You know, you can talk about his personality and whether that wears on people.
He's kind of moved around a lot in the league.
Why?
Because of the four teams in four years?
Yeah.
So he's a little bit of like a mercenary at receiver.
But everywhere he goes, he, like I said, he raises the floor, I feel like, of the quarterback.
And he's probably going to be productive.
So whether that's like, I don't know, in the 80s?
Where do you guys think?
Like, just off the top of my head, I'm like somewhere in the 80s, maybe?
Yeah, looking around, I do agree.
I think 80s, I basically was like, which guys here looking at fantasy pros ADP?
Like, would I take Stefan Diggs over?
And I'm looking at Chris Godwin at 91.
I'm like, I think I know Stefan Diggs.
Would you rather have Cortland Sutton?
It's exactly where he is.
Sutton, Michael Pittman.
I'm like, give me Stefan.
Thanks.
I think like the 80s, I'm starting to look at Alec Pierce, Jordan Tyson, Parker Washington.
Then I start to slow down.
So I think around the late 80s, early 90s range.
Dude, Diggs, there's a world where Diggs is still really good.
And when he was in Buffalo, he was like a perennial, like borderline first round pick, early second round pick.
Like he was up there with CeeDee Lamb and these guys at the end of the first round for when he was in Buffalo.
He's not quite that good anymore.
But if you just look at the rate stats, like the ones that matter.
And yards.
First per route run.
And then first downs per route run.
First downs per route run is my favorite receiving stat and probably the best one.
It also just makes sense.
Like how often is a guy getting a first down?
It's like a perfect test receiver.
And it also perfectly translates to fantasy football.
Stefan Diggs was fifth last year in first downs per route run.
And the list is like so matches the eyeball test.
Receivers last year in first downs per route run were Puka Nakua was number one.
JSN was number two.
Zay Flowers was three.
Amon Ross St. Brown's four.
And then it's Stefan Diggs is five.
CeeDee Lamb six.
Drake London seven.
George Beckins eight.
Nico Collins nine.
Jalen Waddell ten.
Jamar Chase was eleven.
Terry McLaurin twelve.
George Kittle was thirteen.
Like that totally adds up.
And then Diggs is top five and top ten in yards per route run and first downs per route run.
Everything.
And I'm like, he's going to run more routes because he was coming off the ACL last year.
I was going to say, that was him coming off of an injury as well.
And we should say he played all 17 games last year.
He caught 85 balls for 1,000 yards, four touchdowns.
He tore his ACL in 2024, halfway through the season at age 31 or almost 31, I think.
And came back, played a full season.
He'll be 33 in November.
You should probably have to factor that in a little bit.
Sure, yeah.
But to me, I see him more productive for Washington than I do productive for fantasy.
Yeah, you're right.
If you like it, he's 32.
Yeah, right.
33 in November if you don't like Stefan Diggs.
I lean towards this is better for Washington than it is like he's a great fantasy asset now.
Because they rounded out a pretty thin receiving crew there outside of McLaurin.
And like their rookie, Antonio Williams, digs slots in really nicely.
I don't know.
This doesn't jump out.
I feel like he's a flex player at best to me.
I think he's going to be ranked where we're talking about him in every platform.
Like, I think he's going to be around like Michael Wilson and the Cardinals and like Michael Pittman and the Steelers.
He's way better than those guys.
And he's a player I want.
Like, I don't know if I want him on the Giants in real life because he seems like a volatile guy.
But what's one more, though, you know, for the Giants?
Who cares?
Dude, you don't like the Odell Braxton Barrios Juju Smith Schister competition for the last round?
No, I think Diggs, he's the exact kind of player I think you should you should throw a dart at.
And kind of one of the things we're going to talk about today, which is upside.
And like Ryan Heathrow, this great article of fantasy points about upside and how upside wins championships and just the idea of league winning players.
And we talk about that article.
Tristan Cockroft writes at ESPN every year of just usually like 20 ish players that just taking them doubles your chances of making the playoffs.
Just those guys or double your chances of winning a championship.
Or if you get like a true league winning guy, like triples your chances.
At winning just because you had them and they had a great season.
Diggs could be one of those 20, man.
I just he still has it.
And that's the thing with receivers is like they kind of maintain the level of play longer than you think.
And then when they drop off, it's like a cliff.
But it's not like the slow, gradual decline you imagine.
It's kind of like you're good, you're good, you're good, you're good.
And then you're kind of out of the league.
And it's I don't know.
It's tough because this group around the 80s and 90s is like either like kind of veterans that have a really low ceiling, but maybe a high floor.
I'm talking about like the Cortland Sutton's, the Chris.
Godwin's and the DK Metcalf's.
But then you have like the ceiling is the roof, guys, where you have like Jordan Tyson sitting there at 86.
Like I would rather have Jordan Tyson than Stephon Diggs, I think, for what he could be.
Or like Parker Washington sitting there at 87 at NADP.
Even a guy like Alec Pierce, who's kind of has a really wide range of outcomes.
I think I would take Diggs over the like Cortland Sutton's and DK Metcalf's.
But I'd probably rather have like Jordan Tyson and Parker Washington.
Yeah, chase the ceiling a little bit more.
Yeah.
I think there's also a lot of variance with a lot of these guys like Alec Pierce probably have a lot of variance week in and week out in terms of like what he's scoring.
His ending stat line probably will look good, but it's going to like his points are probably going to come in bunches.
I would say the same for like Michael Wilson.
So, yeah, it's definitely I mean, this is fascinating from a football point of view, too.
Like, I do think this raises the ceiling of the whole offense in Washington.
So that's that's another variable that we have to like.
put together here. Does this make
like does this change your opinion on jayden daniels like does that raise him up a little
bit does he pass anybody or is it kind of absolutely status quo i think the real life
washington offense i think the thing about washington is their offensive lines better
than you think and maybe people don't think about their offensive line at all but they've
quietly invested like quite a bit into it because the right tackle of josh connerly jr he's like a
first-round pick out of oregon cliff kingsbury's legacy there other than jayden will be having that
guy they have larry tons of left tackle and then one of the best left tackles yeah yeah they have
a random guy named chris paul that's actually become a pretty good left guard that i used to
joke about being chris paul he's actually really good and then sam cosby's coming he
towards acl a couple years ago but i mean he's a good right guard i they have a good line and then
jayden daniels i really still believe in fully and then now you've mclaurin and digs and i just
think digs is going to play more because they had him on a snap count off the acl i actually think
this is a really good offense so i am more willing to take jayden daniels and i don't move terry
mclaurin down that much because i think that what you lose in volume to him i think that the
competent they the players around terry were bad last year and i mean when terry got hurt dude this
he's been at the stat that five players for washington uh caught passes last year that
were not on the team when week one began that's crazy that's wild yeah and so i don't know i i
think that it'll open up the offense for terry more than it will take away to be honest i don't
need to move him down it's a nice so i think this is good yeah i agree the other thing i want to hit
dude this 49er substation thing i it's broken contained i i swear to god this is the biggest
story in the nfl kyle uschek broke his finger the other receiver they have i can't never pronounce
his name jacob cowing yeah i think that's right so they're they're down five receivers now and
they're fullback and then george kittle tours achilles so they're down like 10 skill players
in the eight days every time the substation just gets bigger every time somebody there's literally
a mean where somebody makes the substation larger it's like a lot of people don't know about it it's
like a lot of people don't know about it it's like a lot of people don't know about it it's like a lot of people
the substation larger it looms larger in the distance every time there's an injury uh did you
guys ever see um the fifth element i feel like we've talked about this but like the fifth element
i have not seen what the the alien scary thing that they're going against if you shoot stuff
into it it just gets bigger and more powerful like it like takes the kinetic energy of your
weapons just like i think the the substation is just absorbing these injuries and it's making
him more powerful um every time
you don't know if the substation him or her they yeah uh i feel like pretty soon we're gonna see
in the background a mordor looking volcano happening that is like the name of it is just
like wow this is gonna get out of control it's just the eye of sauron is overlooking it's so
funny dude art but make it sports did a did a thing on it too it's like dude i think that's
the best one they've ever done that was unbelievable my brother is my painting is hell
it's actually just called hell they got me the uh art but make it sports as a book and they got it
for me for christmas and i i might print that one out they put it into the book for him all-timer
i think the question for the niners right now or i guess the question for people who are thinking
about the 49ers from a fantasy perspective is are you just fully out now is it over you know
like is this enough are you ready to to to sit up to sit out this season with san francisco
because of the vibe because their head coach almost died in a car accident and has a severe
concussion everybody's gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my
god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be like
20 guys were missing practice the other day because they were injured already and it's
early august is it and the only healthy guy is a 29 year old running back who had bilateral
achilles tendonitis are you just out what else do you need to see to be out how many versions need
to be thrown into this volcano until you're like i you know what i'm not gonna be on this team
or is it a by love it's early august i feel like this maybe things will be all right yeah i i mean
the the pierce all thing is not great like losing one of your top skill players immediately just
because for no reason the nice thing about pierce all being out is i feel like he's never been in
you know so it's like when i think of like how could you miss someone that you've never met
he never on the field anyway so what are we really missing
it's like that's boy math boy math is well joel will be barely plays anyway so it's really all
we never had it like how could i miss yeah uh we can't
be so bad if we were never it was never over i just i don't know how many omens i need
but i have enough i i just i'm not that famous tweet uh where it's like tarot card reading lady
flips over a card and it's a hot air balloon running into some electrical wires and i'm like
is that bad like that's the 49ers season thus far well this this actually dovetails nicely into the
the conversation because does this mean we talk about how we want to take quarterbacks late this
year is brock purdy off the board for you guys now you're just like i don't want to be up i don't want
to be in northern california on my fans if i'm being honest a little yeah because i brock purdy
is a video game controller for kyle shanahan to play the game through and i'm out on
i i like honestly yeah i believe in the niners every year and i i but
i am not just going to like automatically as we have done the last seven years be like well
kyle shanahan will have a great year with this quarterback no matter what because he was in a car
crash where he almost died and he still can't read or have multiple people speak to him or listen to
loud music and also like their healthiest players now are mike evans at 34 and george kiddo off his
achilles george kittle is one of the healthier goddamn guys on this team now we're just adding
play in week one because he's just hanging out yeah mike evans is 32 not 34. there's no way
that's true he's biologically adding years to mike evans his biological age is much older we got to
get brian johnson to test mike evans as much as possible we got to get brian johnson to test mike
evans his biological age we should have that as a column on our rankings age and then like
biological age like 29 going on 41. look i haven't i do think you're right like i i do think i i just
this is not a risk worth taking this season there's plenty of other options quarterback
is very deep you know receiver is very deep it's like maybe i don't need to take a shot on
party and mike evans or whatever the going on in san francisco
i just yeah if you want to if you want to like play final destination with your fantasy team i'd
just dk the other what i saw is that famous tweet that is so funny that's someone who's like i was
having a conversation with my neighbor and i explained to them that like yeah like we keep
adopting the straight cats but the coyotes keep coming for the stray cats so then we keep getting
new cats from the shelter and and having the cats and you know it's every month you know the cat
just keeps getting taken and the person was like it sounds like you're just feeding shelter cats to
coyotes every month and then he's like and then my daughter started crying they're like the niners
are just feeding football players to the substation they just opened a cafe for coyotes at their house
the substation just keeps eating players uh yeah but the okay here's the thing though
everyone's going to be saying that like everybody in your league at home is going to be like the
niners substation don't want to touch that so everyone will probably fall you know what i mean
like maybe nobody will take brock pretty but but how far does he need to fall before you'd be in
interested in them uh well if i'm taking purdy i'm assuming i'm trying to be the last person to
take a quarterback so i would need to be outside the first 11 rounds because i don't is there a
huge difference to you between having purdy and bo nicks i guess not no not with the current
situation that san francisco is experiencing no what do we talk about wait with the evil curse
that is hovering over san francisco or santa clara no craig what's santa clara like have you
been to santa clara i know i know no one you grew up in the bay you grew up in the bay area by the
way i just think this is hilarious maybe i already said this sorry if i did but san francisco truly
one of the most beautiful cities i've ever been to like the bay area driving around you're like
this place is fake it looks so beautiful everywhere you go like whether you're going
over in san francisco you're you know that it's like 40 no i know i'm aware that's why i'm saying
like have you ever been to santa clara i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't know i don't
know i've never been there but like it's just so funny to me that they found the ugliest place
in the fucking state to have their practice facility inexplicable scientific phenomenon
i what how look i'm not going to pretend like i know a whole lot about santa clara i've driven
through it i'm sure it's in the south bay i've never i don't really i never i didn't spend a
lot of time going to the south bay growing up um but yeah it's just kind of there uh dude i the
substation i i have six months ago when there was a super bowl in san francisco i was like this
thing's fake come on people and now i'm like who knows it's just growing stronger stronger by the
day the older you get stronger and larger religion more and now i'm like you know what maybe there
is an evil spirit like marie curie was handling radioactive stuff with her hands you know i mean
sometimes we're you know we don't know anyway okay um some people don't want to use like ear buds
ear pods air pods or whatever like some people just want i think about that all the time i have
uh air pods just think of power like i billions the whole air pod corded head something you know
i i took a day and i tried to do my own research like my boy rogers it appears as though there's
nothing there that that wearing air pods is actually not bad for your health and that like
whatever electromagnetic blah blah blah that you think you're transmitting into your brain is like
so minuscule and that like wi-fi routers have even more of that coming out of it yeah so i don't know
the research i've read craig because i did my own research
as well uh by reading someone else's research um well obviously and what am i gonna do
what am i gonna do how's my head feel after a day uh do i need to go to the moon myself
or to believe we went to the moon or can i trust other people
what i
read is like basically your phone emits way more waves of like potentially harmful waves like by
magnitudes orders of magnitude or whatever and they've found that like no connection between
your phone and cancer so they're like the bluetooth thing is not going to give you cancer
i think it's a cool like 90s early aughts vibe to like wear corded headphones
you're you're a headphone hipster yeah it's back corded headphones is definitely back
a hundred percent it's back it's like an aesthetic it's a pain in the ass but it's an aesthetic and
that matters more i hate wearing corded corded headphones it's the worst all right i want to
talk about fantasy strategy for this year uh because some every now and then i just like we
do need to just tell you kind of what to do or at least how to think about it and i want to shout
out ryan heath at fantasy points fantasy points great website it has you know scott bear is there
brett whitefield's there ryan heath is there ryan heath um kind of like fantasy ben solak i don't
really know how old he is but he's very good at his job i don't know if he's
old enough to buy he's the one he's a wonder kind yeah a wonder kid baby fantasy assassin
yeah right yes ryan heath the baby face fantasy assassin he wrote he's written a bunch of great
articles anatomy of a league winner and um upsides everything and all these things that scott barrett
used to write about but basically again it's the idea that it's power law where it's like i think
scott barrett and ryan always talk about how they're like yeah it's fantasy is kind of like
investing but not really because there's only one person that freaking wins like
you know it's like oh can't go broke making a profit yeah i've
fourth place is the same as 10th place then like you can go broke making it it doesn't matter
the point is to come in first so it's about ricky bobby players you want guys that are like
home runs you know what i mean like rob gronkowski a few years ago might not play and retire but also
might lead tight ends and touchdowns guys like that so anyway i think the the way that i think
about this and i'm you know the simplest way is you can tell the story of a fantasy season
every year by like 20 players 15 20 players you know and those are the guys that really mattered
when there's a there's
hundreds of other guys that were there and were a part of your team but probably didn't win you
weeks week in and week out and there's there's a handful of guys who really matter every year
and trying to find those guys obviously is the hard part but if you have one of those guys it's
like your chances of winning the whole the whole league go up exponentially the way scott's try to
say it i think sometimes it's kind of like you're trying to hit home runs instead of singles but
imagine if a home run was worth like three like three runs every single time like when you draft
you should go up trying to hit a home run and you're like oh my god i'm gonna hit a home run
an eight run home run yeah go up and hit a nine run home run that's the swing like otani so yeah
dude i saw some video of otani hitting a home run the other day craig good lord that guy guys
he's he's fucking unreal man good at baseball uh okay do we want to just lay out our strategies
or anything you want to set the table with here or just like how to approach it or what would it
i will say like i i think it can get a little difficult to have a broad strategy that we can
recommend to everyone and i think it's going to be a little difficult to have a broad strategy
everybody it's like we're mainly going to be talking about like if you're in a 10 or 12 team
league where you start one quarterback and you do a snake draft that is largely the most common
fantasy league so like that's what we're going to be sticking to but even deeper than that like you
know there's ppr there's half ppr there's standard that matters as well in terms of like leaning into
guys who catch more passes running backs who catch more passes um but i also wanted to bring up say
real quick on that ppr half ppr don't overthink it like for the like the short answer is if you're
like ppr versus half people don't worry about it it's not that big of it it's not that big of a
difference but ppr versus standard big difference yes but people don't do that anymore people don't
do zero catches for a point anymore i feel like it's mostly half people do some people do but for
the most part don't overthink the people that are wearing the corded headphones are playing
zero ppr right now my point is is that you know what your league's rules are one two know who is
in your league i do think this matters a lot like there are very not every league is created equally
like some leagues it's with your high school buddies for the last 15 years you guys are die
ends like you know every single sleeper they know every single sleeper you listen into pods they
listen to pods so like the guys like luther burden you're not gonna get a discount you're not gonna
be able to sneak in and get luther burden in your high school league because everyone's gonna be
aware of him he's probably gonna go for too much if luther burden comes up and there's like seven
erections in the room then it's like okay everyone's been listening to pods all summer
the irony for for craig is he's not gonna have any luther burden this year no it sucks
it's awful because i really want sick irony of what you do for a living all the guys i'm gonna
be like a mecca bucca luther burden i'm gonna be like a mecca bucca luther burden i'm gonna be like a
luther burden all these guys are like i'm not gonna get any of them but yeah um yeah so no
sleepers are sleepers parker washington everybody in that league is aware of parker washington
so the boring guys the older guys the less sexy guys maybe you're like your mike evans is i feel
like those are the names that you should probably try to go after the players that just kind of sit
at the top of your draft tracker that nobody wants because they're viewed as boring that's
that kind of league then it's like if you're in a work league and people want to win because it's
fun for the office and they get bragging rights but they're maybe not the biggest
diehard sports fan like that's a whole other conversation that famous players go way earlier
quarterbacks go way earlier you're josh allen's mccaffrey saquon barkley travis kelsey like you
see quarterbacks going round one in those leagues even in a single quarterback league just because
like people join the league they play and they go well shit i want to get josh allen they take
him 12th overall even though that doesn't make it fun to have this guy yes they trust adp more like
whatever platform you're using yahoo or espn or whatever like they will just take the people
closer to the top of that so then you kind of can't get cute then you can wait on guys like
luther burton who aren't that famous so definitely know like how sharp the people in your leagues are
because i think it makes a huge difference in how you draft i think that's a great call and maybe the
way we should do this is we start with just the beginning which is start with like try to win a
work league a league where like maybe josh allen's gonna go with like the 13th pick you know what i
mean and maybe we start with that and then we'll be like okay and then what if it's like a like a
somewhat sharper league but the other thing i just want to say that's really important and
honestly when people ask me or text me for advice the thing i always start with which
is what platform are you drafting on like most people are on ebay or something like that and
espn or yahoo or uh sleeper i feel like these days is the probably 80 plus percent of drafts
but it's just know your platform because at the end of the day when the draft is happening
and people are have been measured time and time again everyone's worse making a decision with a
timer and so people just look at the rankings in front of them like if you're on espn or you're
on yahoo you're looking at the yahoo window no one wants to scroll down people are afraid
to even now even now i still find myself being like oh god i could probably i can't draft this
guy he's he's 12 spots lower it's been so bad by me it's just so funny it's like a psychological
barrier it is a psychological barrier it's the same reason that people love a discount when
you're shopping people don't like the idea that you're taking a bad value so if you're like with
the 78th pick and you're looking at a guy who's ranked 88th and you just scroll a little even if
you think that guy's ranked like it just it's a hurdle so the point being understanding where
certain players are ranked differently on platforms uh like is huge
so just to give you one example kyler murray for the vikings on yahoo he is a ninth round pick
he's about the 106th overall player on sleeper kyler murray is a 14th round pick he is going
behind five different kickers it's kind of wild that's a huge discrepancy so if you're on yahoo
you might want to take jayden daniels with your fourth round pick but if you're on sleeper you
probably don't want to take jayden daniels with a fourth round pick if you can take kyler murray
in round 13.
you know what i mean and so that is just understand it's worth understanding what
platform you're on i think that so to craig's point know the people you're playing with
like rounders like you play the people but also just know what the the people are going to be
looking at the freaking rankings and understand where those rankings are just off from everyone
else yeah and along those lines i mean if you're motivated enough to print out some some rankings
that you trust whether that's ours whether you know someone that you've had a lot of success
with in the past and cross-reference it yeah against the draft that's happening it's kind
of hard because it goes quick but if you're just like crossing guys off and as you get to like fifth
sixth seventh round you start seeing guys that are on the the physical ranking in front of you
the piece of paper that are like way higher that are kind of just staring you in the face
that's the point where you can just say i don't really care where these guys are ranked on
you know the the the list in the whatever platform you're drafting on and you can just start scooping
up really good value yeah vlad mcconkey's 25th in your rankings but he's 45th in the platform's
rankings you're using
it's okay if you take him 30 seconds it's not a you know it's it's a reach on the platform but
it's not it's actually a value pick for your ranking that's kind of what i'm saying is like
it's validation that you're not actually reaching on this player yeah so yeah sanity check do you
guys feel like you still actually want people to print out a piece of paper and cross it off with
a pen yeah i think it helps me honestly i do that every every year so here's the extra layer i'll
add to our advice this year i mean this figure out what your printer plan is because now it's
a disaster plan like what are you going to do in an emergency it's like do you know where a printer
is a printer how are you going to print have you tested it have you plugged it in like because if
you don't you're not does kinko still exist is that a thing you're gonna drive and pay money
that's a great question dk i don't know it's like staples fedex staples still yeah they probably
you can just probably go to like starbucks now and print something i don't know i feel like that
do they print stuff that's i don't know i feel like they should honestly that would be a draw to
a coffee shop we have kind of like a hidden value there printers are wild because the printers are
one of the few technologies no generation ever figured them out i know no one no people are
just like one of the one of the most challenging machines to operate of all time machines it's the
printer i got one right there it's like i feel like i'm doing witchcraft every time i'm trying
to get that thing if somebody shows up to your house and he's just like can i print something
i'm like fuck we're we're screwed i don't know i told you it's an hour i told you there's a trump
aid that they call the human printer
because he wants everything printed.
He won't read anything on a screen.
And she has five different prints
printers that she and she has to bring three of them with her at all times and like it's her
entire job is just figuring out how she's got like a mobile printer she brings with her that's kind
of multiple mobile printers because they all break they're always breaking yeah there's like
and they don't have any parts it's like it's like late soviet union they're running out of parts
they can't fix these things i love all there's like there's like a few like legendary hollywood
guys who like still who are like older and and they don't use technology and they like need to
have their emails printed out saban say oh nick saban yeah nick saban never used email i always
find that to be just fucking fascinating no there's a there's a person out there who has to
print like martin scorsese's emails my brother always said this about every like election he's
like can i get one person running for president who's used email i know one person who is a gmail

only bj's home of the save moving on strategy you want to just okay so that's the table let's just
like i think the strategy we go position by position but in a nutshell i think you should
take a quarterback unless an elite one kind of falls into your lap and i feel the same way about
tight end and stronger that unless brock bowers or trey mcbride or colson loveland or maybe tyler
warren falls into your lap i think you should be the last person to take a tight end and resist
the urge to be the ninth and take a tight end the 10th or 11th round and you should probably take a
quarterback maybe in the 10th or 11th round unless one of a specific group falls in your lap and you
should probably be taking five receivers in the first 10 rounds and you should try to get one of
the top 12 running backs at least and maybe two of the top 12 running backs so probably two running
backs in the first three rounds but at least one running back in the first three rounds five
receivers at the first 10 rounds and then in there it's like wait on quarterback wait on running back
and you're trying to load up on running backs and receivers and then if a great amazing value
falls to a tight end or quarterback you can do that otherwise wait and like is that
the simplest way to explain what we think about this season i think so i feel the most strongly
about waiting on quarterback and getting running backs early i think those are the two pillars that
i'm going to follow this season i do think this is the deepest quarterback
ever been since we started this show there's always the caveat of like it shouldn't be a hard
and fast rule you got to be like nimble when you're in a draft shit can change you got to
figure it out like if josh allen's sitting there in the fourth round you should probably take him
what about the third i was actually wondering about that while you guys while hyphens was
laying it out like what does that mean when they fall into your lap so i wanted to ask you this so
i want to ask you guys let's start with quarterback because i think on paper we were saying you should
wait on quarterback you should wait on quarterback because there's so many good ones and again what
it comes down to is there's so many guys that can run now that it just the advantage yeah the
advantage the elite dual threat guys i have a josh allen philosophy of when i would take him if you
want it i would yeah that's exactly what i want to know um i think there's 12 running backs i want
and i want two of them i think there's an easy cliff and i think it ends right around derrick
henry depending on your ranking like it's basically the chase brown to kenneth walker
to derrick henry that range is josh jacobs in that jeremiah love in that or no no i think it's
tops right before jeremiah love and josh jacobs and kyron williams so there's a top 12 starts with
jameer gibbs and bijan it's uh jonathan taylor james cook ashton genti a-chan hampton derrick
henry saquon barkley and kenneth walker and chase brown for me i want two of those 12 if if i have
the opportunity to take either josh allen or one of those 12 i'm taking one of those 12 if the 12
are gone and josh allen is there i would take josh allen roughly i like that would you say this
would you say the same about like a brock bowers or trey mcbride no okay i'm i'm less keen on i'm
really reaching for one of them which we can get into when we talk about tight ends okay but if
brock bowers was there in the third round you take brock bowers third round absolutely yes but
it's like if we're i mean these were these running backs i'm discussing are basically get drafted by
the end of by the middle of the second round i don't know if i need to take brock bowers like
18th in my draft i agree so i i i have thought about it more and more i agree about getting
the running backs and just because what it comes down to to get ryan heathard a great article of
fantasy points where it comes down to running backs in the second running backs early generally
are the guys that can break your league and like getting ash and jenty getting chase brown guys
that can catch a ton of passes or run for a lot of touchdowns and hopefully high scoring offenses
or offenses that score more than you think um you a league winning player the way ryan defined it
which i thought was smart was basically are you scoring five points more per game than we kind of
thought you would based on where you went which is a shorthand of being like are you kind of getting
almost the equivalent of a touchdown per week in value more than we thought not literally a
touchdown but the equivalent of six points five points six points uh and you probably need to
catch a lot of passes in the uh participation trophy ppr leagues or you need to score a lot
of rushing touchdowns so that's like derrick henry on the ravens team the ravens don't a good example
the ravens i don't think play a playoff team from last year to like november so the ravens i mean
they could start nine and one and have all these derrick henry game scripts and you need something
like that or you need chase brown catching a ton of dump balls from joe burrow or ash and jenty
catching a ton of dump off some kirk cousins and that is kind of why we feel so strong about these
early running backs uh but having said that yeah bowers doesn't fall to me and like if those
running backs craig are gone that i do want brock bowers or maybe trey mcbride solely because i do
feel like i kind of like them a little more than uh the receivers in the third round where i feel
weird taking like chris olave or george pickens over trey mcbride when i'm trey mcbride has it
even though i don't love the cardinals the idea that trey mcbride could just be better than them
at the tight end spot kind of makes me queasy you know what i mean yeah the thing you want to get
into tight ends i feel like we all agree about quarterback it's like yeah well no the quarterback
i want to name the players though so we're like oh we'll wait on quarterback my question is the
players that i'm looking at are jalen hurts kind of like like like i want jalen hurts trevor lawrence
justin herbert i'm perfectly comfortable those guys be my quarterback jayden daniels if he
falls but i feel like he won't um and i basically there's a like a lot of players that i'm looking at
jalen hurts who's been like the tush push if they bring it back you could just have 15 rushing
touchdowns in theory and it is highest ceiling thing and he's going 70th trevor lawrence i think
has like some of the like top five most rushing fantasy points per game last few years like he
can one run way more than you think herbert like you just need someone who can run but one of those
guys will fall yeah like i basically am thinking like there's the top six guys which i think
everybody generally has is josh allen lamar drake joe burrow jayden daniels and hurts i'm comfortable
getting the bottom six like caleb dac
dart herbert lawrence stafford darts maybe a little bit risky but like caleb dac prescott
justin herbert trevor lawrence i don't know you could weave in bo nicks brock pretty stafford like
i'm i'm totally fine with any most of those guys i think if you if you wanted to wait even past that
and just do the real true late round quarterback process or strategy that was popular you know six
or seven years ago um to me it's malik willis or kyler late and then if if those guys don't work
if if if malik willis has like a justin fields type of season where he just can't complete a pass and
he's benched by week seven so be it then you can stream after that i mean daniel jones jacoby
i was looking at this they're they're scoring from last year obviously jones coming off a major
injury but um you know they were they were basically averaging one to two points less
per game than the guys who are ranked six to twelve last year in terms of like yeah so it's
like you're losing a point or two a game on average and you can just stream based on on
matchup or whoever there's there's
especially in one quarterback leagues obviously this is different than super flex but
yeah you know i i do think you can probably get away with streaming if if if your late round pick
doesn't work at quarterback i feel like if if you want to take a guy like malik willis i i think you
need to chase it with like a jared goff yeah that's stafford 100 or stafford i mean stafford's
still there absolutely yeah um even like working out yeah it's like and you want somebody consistent
you just plug in jared goff get you 250 yards and two touchdowns every week yeah here's the key
to me though because we actually are higher on the quarterbacks than a lot of these platforms
because here's the question i think we're talking about like again like like an office league or
something yahoo and espn have it like where lamar jackson's like the 50th player the second
quarterback will be the 50th player and in my experience there's no way that that happens
like there's no way that 10 or 12 teams are going to go four rounds and one person of a quarterback
i think quarterbacks always go up higher yeah and so i think it even though we're
higher than other platforms on quarterbacks it's weird because i'm wondering if we should
move our quarterbacks back or if we kind of reflect like more really like what it's actually
going to look like you know what i mean uh that's like the one question i have is because we're like
oh wait but realistically like we have lamar jackson like outside the top 30 uh but i also
don't think you'll get him at that spot if that makes sense so i think that's the the question
is like it's weird because whatever site you're on i just the quarterbacks are going to i think
people will be scrolling and kind of picking them they always go earlier quarterbacks are
always go earlier if you think you're going to be able to get lamar josh allen at a bargain
it's rare that you can do that which is why i think our rankings almost reflect like the
reality of when they go i think that the way i it's funny too to be like well we'll just wait
until they're a good value i don't know what that means but the way i think of it for you guys is i
need the quarterback or tight end to be mogging the other people around them right and like i
can't explain it but the point is like it needs to get we need like lamar jackson or like luther
bird or josh jacobs you're like oh man that's a good question but when it's like jalen hurts or
tony pollard a hundred percent you i'm like it's just like the the eye tests like taste in your
mouth comparison where you're just like do you want giovante williams or josh allen at a certain
point you're like fuck it i'd rather just have josh allen trevor lawrence or courtland sutton
well sure like give me trevor lawrence and i think that's like it should feel
you it feel very easy to be like oh my god this guy is so much better than that but if you're
like oh brock purdy or roma dunzey you're like well maybe roma dunzey actually yeah could be
something special
this year um but i think that's great it's kind of like a not a hard and fast rule it's just kind
of like a say the two names out loud and say the two names out loud and if you feel silly for if
and if you're like would i ask another person that or would i feel silly then take then that's
when you take the quarterback yeah uh which and i think i actually feel that way about the tight
ends too where it's like brock bowers or uh o'marian hampton or brock bow you know what i
mean you have to think about but when it's like yeah brock bowers or davante smith yeah i'm like
well shit brock bowers could just do davante smith's numbers give me brock bowers and that's
how i feel about the tight ends colston loveland or i mean yeah derrick henry could be a real thing
i'm like give me derrick henry colston lovely or garrett wilson i'm like i don't want to watch the
jets i want to watch the bears yeah tight end every year to me is just the most fascinating position
because everybody tries to figure it out myself included you want to be the genius you get sucked
in by the tight end five you get sucked in by the tight end five you get sucked in by the tight end
even though it's probably he's probably just going to score nine points like the tight end 15
um ryan heath again at fantasy points when he mapped out tight end he went through basically
like all right what are the most common traits for for the tight ends on your playoff roster
so he basically looked at like the most common tight ends on on over 50 of playoff rosters
and he had like six main points which was that okay these quote-unquote league winning tight
ends in a given year always had these qualities got over eight targets a game the year before
that they averaged five to seven targets a game um oh interesting half of them were in year two
of their career which is like very specific like out of every other year combined it was 50 and
then year two 50 uh they ran around 30 routes per game which is a lot only mcbride and bowers did
that last year and colston loveland over the last few games they're on offenses that that do not
have multiple other pass catchers going in the top 60 adp
and they're on teams that score 25 points a game like just straight up offense it's not fantasy like
real life good teams and so it's an intriguing list and it kind of allows you to go through and
like look at who qualifies who checks what boxes and i have to say unfortunately fellas like i know
that we're saying like it's mcbride or bowers or wait i i am sucked in by the sirens of like the
top six or seven i'm like kind of like fuck there are guys here i like and i would take i would take
a gamble to be honest like
i can get into a few if you want like to me looking at a guy like sam laporta
who might be the sneaky number two option in the passing game i don't think it's jameson williams
you could argue it's jamir gibbs but he's on a super high scoring offense they're projected to
score the third most points in the league they have an easy schedule um he's young he's done it
before his offensive coordinators drew petzing who just did with in arizona what with trey mcbride
for the last two years and i'm looking at adp with sam laporta here are the guys sam laporta is going
around let's do the name test sam laporta is a guy who's been in the league for a long time and he's
or rj harvey chuba hubbard rico dowdle tony pollard to me yeah i'm like i would rather take
a risk on sam laporta who had 10 touchdowns his rookie season and in a way that ryan kind of
mapped it out which i thought was very interesting is he was like basically look at it this way when
you're considering taking a tight end just treat them like a running back and be like what are the
odds that they can score 14 or 15 fantasy points a game whoever you think is more likely to do that
you should just take that person because there's no reason why you should be treating them
differently and 14 to 15 points is like a low-end rb1 that's like probably closer to like a league
winning type guy when you take them this late in the draft so when i'm looking at sam laporta
versus rj harvey i'm like who do i think is more likely to have a season where they score 14 points
a game i'm like fuck it maybe i just take sam laporta yeah tight ends weird this year because
i think another thing that in the past that has worked is the worst bets you can make in fantasy
are usually for you like you don't get one of the first six tight ends or maybe you don't get the
first six tight ends you don't get one of the first six tight ends you don't get one of the first six
tight ends you don't get one of the first six tight ends you don't get one of the first
six tight ends you don't get one of the first six tight ends you don't get one of the first six
always splitting time, so he's a little bit
outlier i agree and i think he's on the giants now he's on the giants now i think a guy like
dalton kincaid who the only thing working against him is just the routes other than that basically
when he's on the field and he runs routes he's fucking awesome and he's a high scoring team
yeah ck who are the other tight ends that you like um well if you go by kind of some of the
criteria that craig laid out high scoring team you know um limited competition limited competition
i think kincaid is a really interesting one like the the arithmetic is seriously just if he plays
more he's probably gonna smash um and then the other guy i kind of think about and this doesn't
he doesn't fit the mold of limiting competition but terence ferguson for the rams who yes um
you know they drafted him in the second round he really didn't do a whole lot in his rookie year
but mcveigh sort of revolutionized the way that team's not revolutionized but he they were using
13 personnel three three tight ends more than just about anybody
um and if a davante adams gets hurt or puka nakua gets hurt like there's a solid chance
terence ferguson kind of could step up and be the number two receiver on this team so i think he's
the type of guy who could be sort of a dark horse out of nowhere um i don't know if he could be a
league winner necessarily i think he could i 100 agree with you he's free he will not terence
ferguson probably won't be drafted any leagues you're in and he's i completely agree he's like
has the most upside of any of the late tight ends
the guys so he would he would probably be the guy that i think of i i do think jake ferguson kind of
the same math where if one of the top receivers on the cowboys gets hurt jake ferguson could have
like eight or nine targets a game and really kind of fit some of the molds in terms of high scoring
team number two option on the offense and he's proven in the past that he can catch a lot of
passes i think basically it was just hurt all of last year dac prescott has a history of throwing
the tight end position he's very comfortable throwing over the middle of the field so he could
be a sleeper um and then i think he's probably the guy that's going to be the guy that's going to
be the guy that's going to be the guy that's going to be a sleeper um i don't know past that i think
it's more like floor play type of guys like greg dulcich is like a really deep sleeper because he
might be the top option in the dolphins passing game um but yeah like that greg dulcich yeah
dulcich and ferguson i think are dk are perfect sleepers at tight end the problem with dulcich is
like you think they're going to score any points like you just have to hope that this team they're
not score points they're not going to pass very much and they're not going to score very many
but they're free dk's talking about guys that are probably gonna get added on waivers after week
one that i think are perfect guys to have on your team in week one and you cut them if they don't
sure
but there's a chance that they lead the team like that's a real sleeper i think a ronda gadson to me
is a guy that like you can draft him super late wait for three weeks see if it's a thing and if
it's not you can drop him but like a guy who quietly just had 660 yards as a rookie and you
talk about competition outside of lad mcconkey i wouldn't say it's daunting i i know they brought
in david and joku so like the whole thing might be stupid but i'm like mike mcdaniel what he did
to john who smith what he did to darren waller
like right like you never know well ronda gadson could turn his 600 yard 600 yard rookie season
into something much bigger second year with mcdaniel and it's like he immediately becomes
like a top 10 tight end overnight but again it might completely not work out he might not play
enough and you can just drop him but i think that's another guy i'd be willing to take a shot
on yeah so running back strategy uh are we kind of in agreement that there's basically about a top
12 running backs that you want to 13 depending if you want josh jacobs in there jeremiah love but
there's 12 or 13 running backs that you want to drop but there's 12 or 13 running backs that you
want to and you need you really want to get one of them just because your life is just so much
easier and ideally maybe two you can if you get two of the top 13 running backs and we have our
rankings up i don't have to read them all but like it ends you know and then after that you
want to probably load up on receivers yep right i have a question if you if if you get just from a
in a snake draft if you have the first or second pick you get bijan or gibbs
and then you come back you're you know whatever it is 24th or third or whatever
um what do you do in that scenario craig because then you're then you're staring at
probably not a running back again maybe a quarterback or maybe a receiver at that point
is that probably what you're doing yeah it's why i think first round picks tricky this year because
i don't think you'll be able to get another one of those elite running backs so you'll i don't know
it turns into like best player available it's like yeah if brock bowers or there's an aj brown
or nico collins or somebody like drake london is there you're gonna have to do it but it's why you
know if you're in the middle if you have like fifth pick you can get mccaffrey you can get
second round you go get chase brown and then in the third and fourth round there are still guys
like nico collins and malik neighbors sitting there i would much rather do something like that
but you're right dk like the first pick or the second pick you might just get one guy yeah then
it kind of changes the strategy if derrick henry falls to me if you can get jimmy i mean yahoo i
think derrick henry's going 34th or something and i'm like if you can get derrick henry if you can
get derrick henry in your second round i'm fine with that because like i really think running
back is a good idea i think it's a good idea because i think it's a good idea because i think
gets nasty like when you start moving down the ranks here you're looking at like i don't know
like you can take risks with dudes like quinn sean or trevion henderson or tootin and buck
irving and david montgomery but it's like relying on those guys to be your number two dude scary
risk now the flip side is maybe you end up with amon ross st brown in the first round and then
you maybe you get a running back but then it's like oh you ended up with trey mcbride and then
lamar jackson fell because i don't know whatever and then you're like oh i need another running
back yeah there are still plenty of guys i like um i
if you again to the spirit of the ryan heath article i think there are certain guys like
basial tootin for the jaguars is a big guy that if he ends up getting a lot of travis etn's travis
etn's carries in jacksonville he could be really good maybe he does more passing down work i still
like romandre stevenson as just an undervalued player play a lot jordan mason is like a very
cheap player that like will just probably lead the vikings and carries and touches and um probably
just get more goal line work and the vikings had almost no goal line carries and he's just like a
very boring player that enables you to have like a more aggressive build elsewhere the one random
player i want to throw it is a dude who's like a guy who's like a guy who's like a guy who's like a
true sleeper we haven't talked about at all is jonah coleman for the broncos who i just think
by the end of the year will probably just be the starting running back in denver and he's got some
buzz early on yeah i think there's a misunderstanding the denver backfield i think people want rj harvey
to be alvin camara rj harvey's darren sproles and jonah coleman is like i just j is to me
the next jk dobbins but jk dobbins has never played 13 games in a season i think jk dobbins
will be very productive for denver and he'll probably get hurt at some point which i don't
know right and then jonah coleman is the cam scataboo mold of a big guy who gets all the
goal line carries and can do short yardage but he can catch and block that's hard to find an nfl
player who is big enough to be obvious goal line candidate and also can block and has good receiving
routes and hands and jonah and sean payton said he's not like a rookie and sean payton doesn't
mind red shirting a rookie if they're like immature but jonah coleman's like a leader i i think he's
of another free player a lot of pat bryant actually at receiver who i think could just be starting at
the end of the year i think he's going to be a good receiver and he's going to be a good receiver
as like the michael thomas rookie year role from the saints 10 years ago so i don't know i think
jonah coleman's good running back late keaton mitchell's like an upside guy but um yeah i
think five yeah i was gonna say coleman kind of fits the mold of and i i said this during the
draft period that he reminded me a little bit of bucky irving in a lot of ways where he's not fast
he didn't even run i believe it was your comp the thinking man's cam scataboo with him oh yeah that
too um but like from a
prospect point of view because i do think they both run really hard and break a lot of tackles
and are sort of low center center of gravity type runners but like from a prospect point of view
coleman reminds me of bucky rookie or bucky that who wasn't hurt all of last year um that because
number one he's not fast that was like a huge knock on him he didn't i don't believe he ran the
combine he was you know worried about running really slow obviously um but i mean if you look
at some of the underlying stats and the same with bucky irving like breaking a ton of tackles
really elusive um and with
uh with coleman good in pass pro good in the passing game good hands good vision in space
um basically the knock is like he's he's small i guess coleman is short and slow and that usually
isn't like a great combination in the nfl but i do think he has sort of just a combination of
traits that could work in the nfl and sometimes does work in the nfl um but but again like and
he was a day three pick so it's kind of hard for those guys to find the field if he gets the
job and hold on to it so saying get top 12 running backs get get a couple and make your life easier
yeah receivers that's yeah and we're saying just get five of the top 10 receivers because as ryan
heath's article pointed out like there's basically never just been a true league winning receiver
that's five of the top 10 receivers what do you mean sorry five of the five receivers in the first
10 rounds as a shorthand a rule of thumb of after the first 10 rounds it's just harder to find a guy
that will contribute for the most part we know yeah the first 120 130 picks those receivers are
going to be the guys and they're going to be the guys that are going to be the guys that are going
and i think we've talked about a lot and i'll just read a bunch of names and you guys tell me who
stands out to you i think davante smith lad mcconkey christian watson luther bird and jalen
waddle is on denver now james williams the lions terry mclaurin for washington i think dg more on
the bills like brian thomas of the jaguars stefan thinks in washington now like those are guys that
jump out to me and if there's 20 receivers that we think could be you just want to get as many of
them as you can and hope that if you pop and that you're able to start those guys each week yeah
as you go down so i kind of
circled a few guys early rounds like second or third round maybe i was looking at get one of
pickens nico or neighbors to me those guys have immense upside if things fall right with neighbors
it's if he's healthy with nico it's like if stroud is even remotely good this year then nico could
absolutely go bananas and then i think pickens is the the bet is maybe he's just better than cd or
at least has a better connection with um dac prescott and he's in a high flying high scoring
offense in the middle i'm really happy for
for Pickens, man.
I'm happy. - I know.
- I love that we're here.
Like I love that, I can't believe
We're like, yeah, there's just a world in which George Pickens is better than CeeDee Lamb.
It's fucking awesome.
George Pickens is so good.
I'm happy for him.
I couldn't tell for a second if you were doing a bit or not.
No, no.
Genuine.
I'm happy he got off the Steelers and is succeeding and hopefully gets a bunch of money because he's fucking great.
Yeah, he's really, really good.
As you go down, and again, this is like finding one or two of these six guys like Devante Smith, Emeka Buka, Burden, Waddle, McLaurin, McConkie.
Those guys, I think said all those guys.
I totally agree with those as targets.
And then as you get later down the draft, Parker Washington.
Josh Downs is really interesting to me with the Colts because he takes over.
Michael Pittman's gone.
Alec Pierce is injured currently at the moment, and we don't really know if he's going to inherit a bigger target volume type role.
I think there's a chance, like Heifetz said on the last show, that he could just stay doing what he did last year, which is taking the top off the defense.
And then another guy that I think is interesting, and this is a capitulation in some ways because I have not been a huge fan of him, but Quentin Johnson.
I think he's a great guy.
but you have to assign the week but as we're doing the draft maybe there's a week where you're like
you know what actually the the browns playing the bangles defense like they might actually be able
to put some some stats up i kind of want to grab week seven home at cleveland thursday night you
know they're going to put up points and maybe you take that in the 12th round because that's going
to be an advantage for you but this goes back to when we were at grantland the bad qbl the bad qb
draft oh yeah trying to figure out like how to incorporate bad quarterbacks i just love the idea
of having like oh this is going to be great i have atlanta laying at week 10 they're playing
new orleans and then two of throws like three pick sixes and just single-handedly ruins your
week i don't know that i feel like there's something here tell me where i'm wrong so i
like the idea where you you give it to your opponent but do you have to choose your opponent
right away or do you choose them like at some point down the line you're saying it's like you
pick like week five grenade
i
playing the bangles and so i will draft the browns quarterback situation for week five
and i have to start them week five oh yeah because i guess the way to do this with the website is
nobody's going to have those three quarterback like nobody's going to have a browns jets or
atlanta quarterback on their roster so if i'm playing craig in week five i'm going to be like
you know what i'm using my hammer this week you don't get to start lamar jackson against me
actually you'll be starting geno smith but i still feel like there should be scarcity with the guys
interesting
oh i see i didn't realize you give it to your opponent that's fun yeah well if i said scarcity
i would just be like run off this podcast that's all i'm going to say but i'll leave it at that
scarcity yeah it's okay and we have pronunciation dyslexia and they're they're they're no you're in
my support group if it's the only one i'm the only one who's as bad as yours this raises a larger
conversation about fantasy leagues where it's like do you like the gimmick league or do you
like to play it straight you know what i mean like in the ringer league we already did this
weird thing last year where you drafted up your own punishment and everybody had to play it straight
should we lean into the gimmicks and like get weird or do you play it straight i think you have
to shade one way or the other and if you're gonna do it you do it so yeah i like i like the idea of
the grenade my my immediate tweak would be what if instead of being like we're gonna take the
browns in week 12 because i think what that takes out is if a team's better than you think or like
sometimes a lot of injuries hit and then you're like oh my god like the rams stafford's hurt
rams are playing ty simpson he's the worst quarterback ever like mccarthy last year
with the vikings i think what if it's as simple as the highest scoring team each week can just
pick another team in the league that they're not playing that week and like you have to start a
quarterback of our choosing this week oh it's like a perk yes like if sal's team has the highest
scoring points it's like sal could just be like assholes the game yeah like yeah you know what
heifetz is mean to me this week heifetz has to play shooter sanders this week well or it's just
the pick or it's just every each player in the league like all of us we you each get one of the
teams in the league and you get one one time you get to give a waiver wire quarterback to an up to
your opponent so maybe that maybe that's what it is maybe it's somebody who's starting but like on
friday was not picked up by anybody yeah and i could just be like oh chador sanders is getting
the start this week in in houston yeah this is it i'm using my grenade i'm giving it to craig
and i'm gonna cripple craig's team this week like imagine it's week 13 we're all battling for the
playoffs i haven't used my grenade yet yeah you saved it i've saved it i'm playing heifetz and i
go oh shit it's carson beck's first start this week against the texans you have to start carson
beck against me heifetz has to start carson beck against me yeah i guess the waiver wire does make
it where i just text you and say hey sorry dude i'm using my grenade this week yeah and it has
to be a quarterback that is starting has to be a quarterback that's going to start that week but
you can pick anyone on the waiver wire yeah the only problem i guess is that
what if we're going to win the game yeah we're going to win the game we're going to win the game
we're in a super flex league how many quarterbacks will be on the waiver wire i guess the shitty ones
will still be on the waiver i don't know i think that's the only concern is part of me wants the
ability to pull it off someone's bench like if carson right there i kind of want the ability
nope screw it we're getting eminent domain the worst matchup i also think it'll be funny with
the grenades when people use them because like craig will overthink it and save it to like week
14 but then he'll already be out of the playoffs i'll be four and eight by then yeah yeah but house
will just immediately use it like week two you're like oh you're just like
won't be able to wait to put his trying to build momentum to begin the year yeah he'd just be so
excited to use it he won't be able to keep it in his pocket what's nice is what we can do is is now
like that our listeners are hearing this send send us like ideas on how to perfect this idea
yeah email us at ringer fantasy football gmail.com to tell us how to use the grenades i think the
grenade it's a great idea i think the grenade is the idea too it's like you're throwing a grenade
at someone the only other thing i was thinking is it could it be qb or defense where defense you you
get your grenade and you're like oh my god i'm gonna throw a grenade at someone and i'm like oh my
god i'm gonna throw a grenade on either but i could be like oh dolphins going against the
cowboys this week you you will have the dolphins defense it's good but i think qb is more i think
qb is the higher upside of just being completely tortured as the guys you know they're like let's
go to cleveland another bad play by shadur sanders and meanwhile like the guy you're going against
had to start him if i had to predict sal's gonna love this yeah i was gonna love it and sean's
shit we're somehow going to use the jets against him like week 13 and he'll lose he'll quit the
league yeah he'll be pissed storm out of the tech he'll leave the text chat um but i i think i i'm
interested to see what your listeners think and i do feel like um i do feel like there's something
here the only other thing i have to say is denzel boston who was 45 to 1 yesterday for rookie of the
year and i couldn't wait anymore i had to get in on it uh i saw some in the training camp yesterday
and i was just like i i i have to have
have some denzel boston so he was 45 to 1 it's dropping now but the the the quotes and stuff
afterwards nothing's better than august people like oh my god he actually levitated above the
field i watched him climb the uprights and catch the last pass and uh it's just amazing people are
so in on him now there's i don't think any one player has more hype than denzel boston right now
it's also hard because sometimes the hype is actually warranted sometimes you can just
tell immediately that a player's gonna be awesome and then sometimes it's like case and williams and
he just looks awesome in the preseason and then he gets cut you know what i mean like i you just
there's there's no in between i feel you had the best you had the russell wilson one was the best
one ever like that whole training camp every single day was like it was like what's going on
why are they talking about him yeah people knew about russell wilson uh by after the first rookie
camp that they were like oh this guy's legit the other guy that i was thinking of that you knew
immediately because he was just making plays every single camp was doug
baldwin he was undrafted and then all of a sudden he had like i don't know what it was
900 yards his rookie year um i believe the boston hype though i i'm actually i i thought he fell
way further than he should have it's interesting that he's getting way more hyped than casey
concepcion um he might he might have not been he's down to 40 to 1 today yeah but when you
think about it like who would you bet on for rookie of the year which ties into some of the
fantasy stuff we've all talked about but because i don't think it's going to be jeremiah love i
don't i two other running backs fernando mendoza is probably not going to play enough
so it's it's much more wide open this year i don't think it's going to be any there's no tight end
prospect tyson will get hurt yeah he's already hurt so tate would be probably the safest pick but
you know boston would have the thing where he does not have a quarterback yeah i mean it's there's
like mckay lemon but like mckay lemon has gotten zero hype compared to boston no i earlier in this
episode i love jonah coleman for the broncos is 60 to 1 and that's the guy that i'm like jk dobbins
goes down to week three i think you get a three and a half months of jonah coleman as the starting
back on a team that could win 13 games for denver and in a year if the raiders actually don't play
mendoza for a long stretch then like that's kind of what it would take is mendoza not playing or
playing and not playing well one last year right was the tet last year didn't he end up winning it
did win rookie i think he did i think he came back more importantly who's the hottest rookie
that's another conversation all my friends and i are having you're right ted did win
yeah um the only guy i think jordan tyson would like i don't know a lot of a a lot of a
health like jordan tyson might just be fucking great and if tyler shuck is good and the saints
offense is good and jordan tyson has 1100 yards i think he could win yeah i there's got to be a new
name you're you guys are coming on my pod to do the uh i like that guy awards or whatever we call
them but there's got to be a new name for the guy everyone has completely given up on because of
some sort of physical stuff like a lot of it last year who then was really good and everybody was
like yeah he said too many concussions i'm out but then he was good
ignore him every year i feel like no one talks about chris alave because they just think he's
going to get a concussion well i wonder who is that guy this year yeah to it he could be the
starter just a whole year i think he's gonna play 70 he might play 17 games for the falcons this
year yeah about brandon he won't be on my team i think the guy this year that i can't talk myself
into because he'll just always get hurt is xavier worthy i think he's the new version of that he's
all right i just yeah yeah that guy if i if i tackled xavier murthy he might sprain his ankle
i i don't think i can buy into that it is funny when you read
the august pieces and i read a xavier worthy thing today and it's almost like being at a cocktail
party where people are offering you appetizers like would you like a pigs in a blanket it's like
i think i would and i was i was seeing the xavier worthy there was an article about like
nothing went right for him last year he got hurt in the first game in the first half i was like
yeah he really did maybe he's really good maybe he just had the year from hell i i started my
brain started going there but that's the best thing about august you start thinking about
denzel boston is terrell owens and it's a great time things are heating up let me ask you for the
your fantasy league do you like the punishment system where everybody drafts their own punishment
do you like that or no you think it should just be one punishment i think it would be more fun
to open it up to the listeners for what the punishment should be after where we give them
like seven choices and they vote i'd like to bring in the fans we had someone did email in and say it
should be the the i don't know that we can come up with a better but they were like the est like
the est as in like the sourest the like just basically just a bunch of superlatives for like
this like having to eat the sourest candy or the hot maybe the hottest chicken wings or the hottest
it's hot sauce and everything has to be like the worst version of something is there any way to
replicate matt damon having to listen to the sirens in the odyssey is there could that be a punishment
yeah what concert we tie somebody around a pole with rope and something terrible happens i'll just
record an album of me like singing 2000 songs or something and then just make sal listen to it
we make bill watch like like captain america civil winter soldier i'd rather quit the week
maybe it's just high fits and i'm mispronouncing confusing names
just just long long names that have more than 10 we make bill do captain america month on the
rewatchable he has to do all four in a row who would win if high fits and i went head to head
with uh with a speech dyslexia sports thing who would win it's pretty bad who's worse
um my experience high fits high fits yeah i think it's high fits mine's worse but i think people
correct me more so you keep yours for longer but like bill's like bill will say cory barker instead
of curry barker which is not like him he's not he didn't mispronounce it he just got it wrong
actively mispronouncing words that he's reading and knows how to spell well that's because high
fits and i are both writers we our brains read where we move like a writing i don't know why
up than danny but yeah i've always done i've always had this issue speak which do you do you
pronounce the l and almond this is a big deal no isn't it almond yeah almond you pronounce the l
you do almond who doesn't pronounce the l danny do you think who do you think no also apparently
a majority of americans don't pronounce the l i think it's an east coast thing or something but
there are apparently a large swath of people that say almond and not almond if you go to any
dictionary the pronunciation guides it says the l is silent and they still are mad at me what do
you do for for aunt haunt oh i say i say i i say ants i say ant yeah my family says ant yeah i say
ant but a lot of people are on and and haughty about it yeah yeah wait if it's you're saying
that you say ant i kind of i think i weave i think you say honestly i say
on and i don't know i say a lot of words wrong i mean god they never let it go i said maestro
instead of maestro once about ben johnson i never heard the end of that one um how did you say
grantland is there a grantland is there a how many words were there to say people would mess
that one up grantland say what grantland grantland grantland if you say grantland i love grantland
grantland okay they wouldn't say the lent adam friedland yes it's just like adam
but most people see it and they want to say friedland but it's friedland it's friedland
yeah yeah see it's the kind of stuff you learn all right open it up to your listeners i'm interested
to see what they emails at ringer fantasy football gmail.com for punishments and then
are snake drafts still booger eater drafts are we doing a booger eater draft for this
yeah we're doing yeah i'm kind of coming back on snake drafts i think just because i'm getting
older and stupider so were you wrong before or you like eating no i'm just dropping back down
to where the booger eaters are it's a safer place
ignorance is bliss you know i think this is one of the great fantasy years of all time
it's like there's a complete it's almost like what's happened in movies
with uh where movies got really good this year and we started moving away from
you know superhero movies and terrible ideas and we're actually like building around
creative people yeah now that we have so many good quarterbacks it's completely unleashed fantasy
again and it's and it's good play callers now it's like we're building around ben johnson and
yeah there's there's real strategy again it's
not just like oh i have a 60 running back and then let me let me get lucky with receivers it's
like do i want to spend money on a quarterback do i want to back an entire offense there's like
five six offenses you can just be like i'm getting everyone on this offense um do you want to go the
old school way i like where we are with it and there's the rookies are really hard this year
too you can't just be rolling the dice with i think rookies and especially rookie running
backs like you could in the past it's nice that like trevor lawrence is a great coach liam cohen
caleb williams is the number one pick that has been johnson and even seriously like number one
pick a lot of like the most talented quarterbacks are working with the most respected coaches
yeah right and listen sleep on drake may your own list uh own risk everybody where are you on the
patriots they're gonna be good what are we doing they're gonna be better than they were last year
they have more talent they have the same coaching staff for the second year their schedule is a
little harder fine but the team is better there's no question they have more talent is a little
part of you happy that like the big coach story of the offseason is now kyle shanahan
as opposed to your guy listen it was nice to take some pressure off uh my guy vrabes no one's
talking about it anymore now now it's the substation there's one person one person is
talking about it craig aaron rogers yeah true think about the things that bump variable off
aaron rogers the substation all the san francisco stuff aaron donald may or may not come back that's
the thing that we're talking about justin herbert's like in la la land with his new fiance just
numbers canoodling on the sidelines that's been great yeah um now there's some good people just
realized tampa didn't fire their coach last year that's been a fun one it's like wait todd bowles
still the coach i thought they i thought he lost his job nope he's he has his job um and then like
the really stupid stuff like lamar revenge season lamar lamar's gonna try harder this year like i
narrative of, oh, now that new coach, he's going to really, he has something to prove. He's nothing
to prove. He won two MVPs. The only thing he has to prove is how far can he go in the playoffs.
It's not, I don't think his mindset's going to, do you guys think anything's going to be different
about Lamar? I don't know. We do this every year with both Josh Allen and Lamar. It's like, this
is the year they got to get to a Superbowl or it's over. And then they don't get to the Superbowl.
Then the next year happens and we see the same thing. Like what could they have done differently
in preparation or anything? Like in basketball, sometimes they got like, there'll be a year where
like Luca can come in and be 30 pounds, you know, in better shape or Joel Embiid. And it's like,
oh my God, those guys got, but you can't, you can't not be in shape when you're the quarterback,
right? When you're Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen, you're not going to come in fat.
If anything, I think being fatter is better. I feel like most of the great quarterbacks of all
time are not ripped. I usually, I don't like, I like when they have a little extra padding.
I wish Drake May was 20 pounds heavier. I know. Caleb lost weight. I don't know if you saw that.
He lost like 10, 15 pounds. It looks great.
I did. Listen, you guys expounded on it in the hottest quarterback section.
Yeah.
He's he made a, made a run in the top seven. It was unexpected. It was a Cinderella story.
You could argue he should be four now after the weight loss, but
it looks really good. I didn't, I didn't really appreciate or like the Burrow ranking at all.
You think number three, I have a 21 year old daughter, um, who has been on my podcast many
times. And if she came home with Joe Burrow, I'd be upset. I'd be like, this guy seems like a goober.
What's going on with this dude? Is he going to be your boyfriend? I don't know. There's something,
something off with him. Yeah. Yeah. I wouldn't, I wouldn't be psyched about that.
We always talk about this hypothetically. If we had as much money as Joe Burrow,
would we buy a Batmobile? And you actually can talk to this. Would you buy a Batmobile?
Yeah. Joe Burrow spends his money like a, like a middle schooler.
Is it like a Lamella ball penthouse situation?
I just saw that. I couldn't believe.
The Josh Baskin penthouse. He was like that kid in big.
He is. Well, the idea that Joe Burrow bought,
his lineman Katanas is like the funniest thing to make. I got you really cool swords.
It's funny. He looks like Macaulay Culkin a little bit and he kind of lives like Kevin in home alone
when his parents are gone or he's just eating ice cream every day and ordering pizza. Like that is
kind of how Burrow lives.
Maybe this was overlaps with what you already did, but the, the single coolest quarterback is
another interesting rankings.
We talked about this. What was it? High Fitz thought we were saying Mahomes is cooler than
somebody.
Well, no, I said my homes was cool and you and Craig were appalled at me.
I don't think my homes is cool. I think Baker Mayfield is one of the cooler quarterbacks.
I think it has to be only judged by how cool they are to their teammates and command of the
locker room and the huddle and just Baker ability to have people follow them. I think is what it is.
I think, I think Josh Allen has that a hundred percent. Not positive about burrow.
I think it's Allen. I think it's Baker. It's Rogers. Um, Rogers had it. There's no question. Yep.
Um, he probably still has it. Um, I think, I actually think Roethlisberger had it for a while as, as his, as his play declined and declined. But I do think like he was like a big, like, you know, jump on my back. Rivers was one of the best ones getting hurt all the time. So yeah, rivers is a good one. Rivers was good. Like a leader of men, like the leader of men draft is, you know,
we really had those in the seventies and eighties. I felt like we had more of those, these guys that were like, I'll leave my leg on the field for you.
Yeah.
I'll just play with the other one.
Who was the best? Who was the like defining guy on that?
Leader of men?
Yeah.
I mean, I,
would say montana i was gonna that's what i was thinking too marino marino and elway were both
good with this too marino i think marino was everyone was afraid of him um supposedly phil
sims was pretty good at this like some of these guys that were like kind of like you know above
average quarterbacks but the leadership intangible smart stuff pushed it over the top high fits can
you there was some good phil sims stuff yeah sims it's funny because like jeff hostetler ended up
winning one of the super bowls which is funny sims true that team was loaded though the more
you heard phil sims speak as an announcer i think the less the lore uh got to me in the past it was
like the brady thing yeah exactly i will say tom brady i hate to say this but tom brady's the
answer here because dk i thought i still think my favorite thing summing up tom brady's career
is what dk said which he compared him to alexander the great that people would like because he never
lost a battle everyone thought with him he couldn't die it really was the bucket ears yeah
everyone's just like well tom brady's on my side which i thought you saw in the world
cup with argentina all the argentinian players are like well we have messy we're going to win
the game and you saw that on the other teams they play where they're like yeah they're probably going
to tie the game and like england screwed up england's whole thing is because they had messy
and everyone like you can't like the confidence having a great guy like that like so much of
execution is confidence yeah and that's it's the thing that it seems like the with the eagles is
the question with jalen hurts even though he's already won a super bowl but that they're still
like that when you have those qbs where like there's still like that little bit of doubt
you know i cam ward might have it for all we know like there's some young guys that
if they have better teams around them um we'll see if it comes out but it's a it's an interesting
time for qbs it does feel like there's there's about to be a shift with this class this entrenched
class that we had but there's this next group coming like caleb might by the end of the year
be one of the five best qbs in the league or he might just be exactly like he was last year who
knows it's weird that a lot of the quarterbacks that have been like the guys for the last so many
30 now it's just weird that mahomes and joe burrow and lamar jackson are all like 30 or turning 30
um all these we don't have a ton of sample sizes of like a bunch of mobile quarterbacks aging like
there's a wear and tear yes we but we don't really know like what lamar at 35 or josh allen at 35
will look like well the the history for lamar is not that favorable for the guys that run a lot
i alan i think is excluded from all this because he's superhuman he's basically like having an
advantage as a quarterback or playing quarterback yeah but lamar is a little more of a normal body
and you know i was shocked by his rushing stats last year with like half of what they were
at his peak and is that like an aberration or is that just where we're headed with him
i know i completely i took him in the fantasy the ringer fantasy league and he ruined my entire
season because he was genuinely hurt he was he was definitely very hurt but looked horrible in
the pocket i mean he took so many sacks i mean he it just like completely sapped his his his skill but
i do think i don't know i mean i'm probably going to bet on him to bounce back than i am him to be
just terrible all of a sudden it's usually he's got every other year right for him he's 29 burrow
is another every other year guy it's an even year which means the bangles are going to be good
usually in the odd years they get injured hey the last time burrow was in the in the playoffs
i was trying to think what were we all doing in 2022 we're still wearing masks here and there
you know what's going on like
it was a while ago burrow i burrow gets a lot of slack from everybody it's pretty it's pretty
interesting well nobody will see they're like a yana situation the bangles are like an nba team
trying to keep a superstar because if the bangles missed the playoffs this year i think they went
very in i think they're afraid burrow might leave i think other executives think that the burrow
might want out and it's very much like trying to placate luca or trying to placate the honest
where like they need to keep joe burrow wanting to play in cincinnati and do they that is that is
yeah
yes they do yes if they miss the playoffs four years in a row yeah yeah i think other teams are
wondering if you'll want to leave you're looking at him aren't you high fits you're thinking about
it he'd be a great stealer there's all everybody's already connecting him to the rams like future rams
quarterback joe burrow yeah with the rams with all their first round picks they have just ready
yeah what could they possibly pick well it's high season aaron donald's contract yeah yeah danny do
you think quarterback i was watching get up this morning because i woke up super early for god
knows why i had coffee and i didn't want to go outside yet because it was still dark so i put on
get up and they did a segment about if aaron donald comes back to the rams will this be one
of the greatest defenses ever and greeny was ripping off the defenses and i was just like
what's going on like um even if they have aaron donald would this would they even be
one of the best defenses of this decade like they have two awesome guys
but like for an 11 person defense i wouldn't they're not going to be like the first defense
drafted in fantasy or anything i don't think i think it's gonna be houston i mean yeah going
into the season even if donald comes back you still look at the seahawks you still look at the
texans probably a couple other teams but i do think donald is going to be good like i do think
he's still going to be really good which is they're also going to put them they're going to
use him here and there i they're definitely they're going to probably keep him super limited
to try and just make it just passing down
yeah i think i don't know i mean first of all they did trade for trent mcduffie who was the
first team all-pro cornerback a couple years ago i would say this bill i think the question is if
aaron donald is able to get back to how good he was let's just say it's possible because
cam hayward's older than him cam hayward's made second team all pros so let's just say if aaron
donald does aaron donald's the best defensive tackle the 21st century and miles garrett might
be the best pass rusher of the 21st century and if they play together they make everyone else better
and so i don't know if they will it's certainly i think one of the better defense like automatically
have the potential to just be dominant because it's they those are two just scheme breaking
players but that's a different question though the two guys together as like one of the best
duos we've ever had i don't think that i don't think that translates to this is one of the best
defenses ever it's a season long versus one game kind of question i feel like like if it's the
playoffs and it's you have aaron donald and miles garrett for one series you might take that over
any defense it's like having mariano rivera right i would take the texans or you know seattle well
he's starting to get worried about the seahawks i can see it in his eyes no i i'm amenores waits
to get surgery and he's like yeah i'm gonna get it now hey danny didn't like that god this is
terrible man like aaron donald he left you got it you can't come back you're not allowed to do that
he's like dr loomis you're out of my life he was dead we buried him you know you can't come back
it's not allowed i just really want him to go find something else that he loves he's definitely
coming back oh he's coming back yeah yeah it's um i think this is gonna be the most fun
football season from uh i don't know what the f's gonna happen standpoint that we've had
since covid yeah i really think you could make a case for like six afc teams seattle versus the
rams is great bears lions packers that whole division is awesome eagles versus cowboys like

Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The hosts (Danny Hype, Danny Kelly, Craig Korolbeck) discuss fantasy football draft strategy for the upcoming season, emphasizing a "winning upside" approach over safe picks.
Stefan Diggs signing with Washington Commanders is analyzed; he's ranked in the 80s-90s, seen as a solid flex with upside, and boosts Jayden Daniels' value without hurting Terry McLaurin much.
The San Francisco 49ers' injury woes ("substation") are a major concern; hosts advise avoiding players like Brock Purdy due to the team's curse-like situation, despite talent.
Core draft strategy
Platform and league awareness are crucial—ADP varies (e.g., Kyler Murray is a 9th-round pick on Yahoo vs. 14th on Sleeper), and draft rankings on sites like ESPN/Yahoo shouldn't be blindly followed.
Tight end targets include Sam LaPorta, Dalton Kincaid, and late sleepers like Terence Ferguson, Jake Ferguson, Greg Dulcich, and Rondale Gadson; running back sleepers include Jonah Coleman and Jordan Mason.
The hosts propose a fun league "grenade" idea
Rookie of the Year bets and hype are discussed (e.g., Denzel Boston), along with pronunciation quirks and a nod to the season's strategic depth.
Summary:
The episode centers on fantasy football draft strategy for the upcoming season, with hosts Danny Hype, Danny Kelly, and Craig Korolbeck providing actionable advice. They begin by analyzing Stefan Diggs' move to Washington, ranking him in the 80s-90s as a flex play with upside, while noting he elevates Jayden Daniels' value without diminishing Terry McLaurin's role. The 49ers' injury crisis ("substation") is a major red flag, leading them to advise against drafting Brock Purdy or other San Francisco players due to the team's cursed vibe.
Core strategy emphasizes waiting on quarterback and tight end unless elite values like Josh Allen or Brock Bowers fall, prioritizing two of the top 12-13 running backs early and stocking up on five receivers in the first 10 rounds. , ADP discrepancies like Kyler Murray on Yahoo vs. Sleeper) to exploit value.
Tight end sleepers include Sam LaPorta, Dalton Kincaid, and late flyers like Terence Ferguson and Greg Dulcich; running back sleepers like Jonah Coleman offer late-round upside. The hosts also propose a fun league "grenade" rule where teams force opponents to start a waiver-wire quarterback, inviting listener feedback. , Denzel Boston) and praise the season's strategic depth, urging drafters to chase league-winning upside rather than safe floors.
FAQs
The hosts recommend waiting on quarterback and tight end unless elite options fall to you, prioritizing running backs early—aim for two of the top 12—and loading up on receivers, taking about five in the first 10 rounds.
You should generally wait on quarterback because the position is deep, targeting players like Jalen Hurts, Trevor Lawrence, or Justin Herbert later. Only take an elite one like Josh Allen if they fall to a value spot, such as the third or fourth round.
A league-winning player scores about five points more per game than expected based on their draft position, essentially adding a touchdown's worth of value weekly. They often come from early running backs or high-upside receivers.
They placed Diggs around the 80s to early 90s in rankings, viewing him as a flex player at best. Despite being older and coming off an ACL, he remains productive, but they'd prefer higher-ceiling younger players like Jordan Tyson or Parker Washington.
The 'substation' is a joke about the 49ers' injury woes, where every setback makes the situation worse, like a monster absorbing attacks. The hosts suggest being cautious with 49ers players, including Brock Purdy, due to the team's curse-like bad luck this season.
The grenade is a proposed league rule where each team gets one use to force an opponent to start a waiver-wire quarterback for a week, potentially crippling their lineup. It's a fun gimmick to add strategic chaos, and hosts are seeking listener feedback to refine it.
