I feel like it's a weird day to record. - Why are we recording today? You weren't here. - You were in Italy late. - Oh, sorry. You never showed up. - Perfect. - I'm glad to be here. Oh, like on Monday, Tuesday. - And I said no. - Yeah, you said you wanted to record. I'm sorry about that, everybody. - We're here. - Okay, we're here. - I feel like you had a my trip. - Yeah, do it. - Let me tell you. - We're going to begin. I'm so happy for you. - Thanks. - I thought about you a lot. Actually, boy. - Really? - She texted me. I was like, I'm so happy that she. - No, I didn't want to bug you. - Your vacation. - Your vacation. - I told you, but I still have my phone. But I was like, look at her. - That's sweet. - That's sweet. - It was fun. - You're getting a little spendy. It was spending. - I love it. I love it. It just felt like, hey, our 20s, I talked about a lot. Our 20s were our struggle years. They were fun. They were formative. We had children. We had potential bankruptcies. We had launches, failures. And the last two, year and a half has been really up. Praise the Lord. I just feel like this was a year where, hey, we both turned 37 years married. We've had so much change in the last seven years. We've gone on some trips, the two of us, but they've all been pretty much work-related. It's just a different vibe when your husband has to go to a conference. It's just actually not a good vibe. - It's actually not a good vibe reading watery cheese. - Yeah, literally water cheese is horrible. - We went to the DR last year for Kielb's work conference and I've never had, I mean, no slander to the DR, just slander to this resort. It was the most horrid food. - But not slander to the resort because we're not going to say that. - I'm not going to say the name, but you can go back on my Instagram and not stay there. It just beaches not edible food. So anyway, anyway, this love is better. - I love that you're spending though because I listen to the ball in Caitlin episode, which by the way, I love it so much. I love the adi and Abby. I was like, "I just wish I could listen to this every week because if I'm on it, I'm listening." - Oh. - I lived it. Like, I don't need to hear me talk. - I'm a voice. I lived it. - I personally don't want to hear it. But you're advised for people before they got married. I was like, "Give me some money." I was like, "I didn't expect that one." From the girl that's like, "Hey, don't eat out. Don't have just subscriptions." - I'm like, "Spend your money. Spend your money before your husband tells you he can't." - Take that advice with a great assault. Oh my gosh. Yeah. - I was like, "Taking notes." It was so tough. - Interesting. - I know. But the Caleb on the trip was like, "This is why we didn't spend, so we could enjoy a trip." - I tried to go down that supporting in that way too. - It was. - It was just true. Like, we could go on this trip and spend money and not feel the pressure or the stress or the guilt about spending money. Like, it just truly felt like such a free. - That is what Dave really said. - We felt like no one else, so you can live like no one else. - Yeah, and I feel like we kind of experienced that this past week. - Which just felt like such a good episode. - So happy for you guys. - Such a blessing. Matt and I also talked about you guys a lot. Like, we're having so much fun. - That's sweet. We missed it. - I didn't see your other stories. - I didn't see your content. That was what I want to know. - Yeah, Caleb's whole life now. - Caleb was like, we missed her Instagram. - What? - He was buzzing in the moment. - I was like, "Travel Caleb." - Travel Caleb is a whole different beast. And I do have a video coming out about how I will miss that man. - He becomes so dad-like. - He was taking pictures of the stupid stuff. You know when you go and these trips and people take pictures of birds and just random things, that was scale-like zooming in. - I love it. - Take it that was random. - Travel Caleb. - Yeah, I'll just get looking at him and just laughing. - That's like, I love you. - That's fun. - Okay, so we did seven days in Italy. And we had been to Italy before for a honeymoon. We did a couple different spots in Europe and we did stop in Amalfi. And so when we were thinking about this trip, I was like, "Maybe we go to Greece. "Maybe we go whatever." And I sold Caleb on Italy because there was a Formula One race in this town. So that, ladies, if you have a man that maybe is super little hesitant about booking trips, whatever, just tell them their hobby is there. And you'll get him on board real quick. - I love that. - Yeah, yeah. - It was a little manipulation, but I think Caleb needed the push. It was good. - Yeah, he was like, this was the best decision ever. So we knew we wanted to go into Milan because that's how we could get to the Formula One race. We kind of planned our trip around that. So the first couple days we went up to Lake Como. And there were three cities there. We did three days. And then we did the Formula One race. And then we did a couple days in Milan. So it was just kind of the perfect both of, like, a little bit of the best of both worlds. We had the lake in the mountains. And then we had the city and the race. It was just a really good mix of activities. I will say, I have so many thoughts on this type of, on this part of Italy. The food in Lake Como was a little disappointing. Which you guys know, the food in Italy is insane everywhere. It's just unbelievable. It's the best of the best. And so I think that kind of put a little bit of a, not that we were, like, dampered but a little disappointing on this first couple days, because you just have such high expectations. And that's such a big part of your trip. You know, you go down, you're like, what are we going to do for breakfast? We're going to stop with the little restaurants along the way. Get a gelato or whatever. And split this and that. And just the whole day you're eating. And so when every bite is a little underwhelming, you're like, what's going on here? So the point where kills are rationalizing is like maybe when we were here after college, we just had children taste buds and like everything, you know, just we're matured. Our palettes are matured. And I was like, I just think they don't use salt in this region. Yes, yes, yes. But we had some really good food in Bellagio, which is, there's like three main cities in Lake Como. We stayed in one town called Verena, which was so gorgeous. Everything in Como is so picturesque, so, I mean, it doesn't even make sense what you're looking at. You can't even comprehend the beauty. So that was so fun to look at. Everything's so fun to walk through. It's really easy to get around by the ferry. So the town that we were in Verena, the food was not very good, but the other towns we went to were great. So there was hope. We were like, okay, it's just maybe this little city. That maybe doesn't have the best of the best. But overall, it was great. We did have a, or maybe, did you see any of this? No. Okay, our Airbnb was okay. I was like trying to find places that didn't break the bank, you know? So I'm like, okay, looking at hotels versus Airbnb's. And I find this Airbnb that I wanted something walkable. The reviews were a little warning like, hey, yeah, you can walk. But it's, you know, it's a hike. And so I was like, oh, well, are they just out of shape? You know, you just got to start to rationalize in your head. Like, maybe they just, we were gone a lot. We hike. It's not going to be a big deal. No, this hike was 20 minutes, steep inclines. Up a mountain. Up a mountain, okay? Clip in. Clip in. Also, I'll show you a video of it. And by the end of this hike, we only left our house one and then went home once. Because we were not going to go up and down this multiple times today. It was such, it was hard. Huffing, puffing, sweating. And also, you're kind of scared of that. Heights. It wasn't that, it felt, no, it wasn't dangerous. It wasn't a Heights thing. It was just a, wow, like, I'm wearing a nice outfit. And I'm absolutely pitted. I'm so stinky. My chest is just dripping. And it was human. It just wasn't romantic. It was actually exercise every day. I thought about that. The one day you guys, you went in the ocean or whatever. Was it why were you staying at that place yet? No. Okay, okay. I was like, so did they just bring their swimsuits with them. No, yes, we did. I'm sorry, yes. That was a plan. Yeah, we put our swimsuits in our bag. We just. One day, we put our bibles in our bag and we're like, "Oh, let's go down to the town and read." And then we get down there and I'm like, "Hey, Caleb, I'm sorry. There's absolutely no way I'm going back up that mountain today." So you're going to have to take care of your round or two thick bibles for like 12 hours. You hiked around with those things on his back and then had a hike up the mountain with them. It's like, "We're not going back up there." It was a hindrance, actually. And then we did find like, scorpion stuff. You know, it was just a whole thing, but it was beautiful. So for the men's, it's for the men's. I was like, maybe next time I'll just pay a little more and we'll stay in the town. But maybe we ate a lot of pasta and gelato and it was great. So that was like the first half. Then we went to the Formula One. Do we want like a full recap? Do you have a full recap? No, okay. So we did come out. It was beautiful, gorgeous. So then we go and we do the Formula One race and this was quite the experience. This was Caleb's, this was all you could think about or talk about, he didn't care about any other part of the trip except for this day. And it was really cute. There was something that stood out to me a lot. We went into town and I was like, I want to buy a hat 'cause I don't have any merch. You guys, America is just supreme at sales, merchandising. There was one little place where you could buy hats in the entire town. You found it. No, I didn't. They were ugly. So I waited until the day of the race and then when I got to the race, they had a bunch of spots, but like around the town. This is the one, this is like the Super Bowl. They only have this event one time a year at Italy and it's their little pinnacle of sports for them and you're telling me not one place. It's just like a bear-kiss for our rhythm. I know, I was shocked. I was like, I just wanted T-shirt or something. So that was kind of interesting. No tents, no merch. That's crazy. It was really crazy. I was like, this is insane. So they have this tradition at the Grand Prix where after the race, they storm the track. And when I tell you that, I thought I was going to die. I literally thought I was going to die. You think we're packed in there. Oh, great. Did you see the documentary about Houston, like the Travis Scott concert? I didn't want some people, but I actually did die. Yeah. Okay, that was just going through my head this entire time and I'm like, stop thinking about it. Stop thinking about it. Stop thinking about it, but that was the moment. Like, and I remember talking to Caleb and Mike, hey, this is probably going to be snug, right? And he was like, yeah, I probably will. And so I was kind of like a little mentally fine. Oh, no, no, no, no. So we go to line up at this gate with like 10 laps left in the race. And we've been there since 11 a.m. It's 93 degrees. It's so hot outside and full sun. Just sitting out there watching these race cars. It was very fun, but it was just to set this up. Okay, wait, it was so hot. When you're seeing a race like this, so what's your visibility? No, there's none. Okay. Like for like one second, there's like, and then you're like, you have to wait in line. Yes, and that's when you're there. Yeah, but if you like, if you have to make sure your eyes are correct or else you get dizzy because they go so fast, it's like, you can't, you know what I mean? You get like the whiplash a little. And then your eyes get a little cross-eyed. So every minute, I was kind of like, oh my, like dizzy, but it was fun. I don't know. I think Caleb addressed this on his Instagram story is that they also have screens. Yes, they do. You can see the other half of the race. And I was really into the contest. What I'm saying is that I didn't learn. It was, yes, it was very learning from me as well. It was a learning day. I think someone air dropped, I was confused. Sorry, I'm asking so many questions. Someone air dropped to a video. How did he at, did he ask for that? So it takes him, this is this environment. This happened. It was made for Caleb because it's very communal. Because you don't know at all what's going on on the race and also everything was an Italian. So we also knew nothing else going on. And so people are listening to the race, the broadcast while it's happening around them. And there was a crash that happened literally just after, like you could run, he could walk to it and see it. So when it happened to you right over there and he was talking to all the Italians and they air dropped him a video of this crash. It was very, it was really crazy. Yeah, Caleb was like a little kid in a candy store and it was the sweetest thing to me ever. And that's why it was one of my favorite things. He was just watching him be so giddy and happy. I was like, this is so fun. Just, you know, Caleb is like a, he's not the most expressive guy all the time. So seeing him like that was just so fun. Anyway, what are they talking about? Storming the track. Oh, yes. So we're getting lined up. Anytime you guys wanna jump in, jump in, 'cause I'm just talking and I feel like I'm boring people. We're lined up, the crowd's already, it's squishy. You know, I'm getting squished in there. I'm sweating. I'm like, oh my gosh. So then, I didn't know how this worked, but you know, you're not in charge of your body. You're just being shoved through a gate. You're literally like shoved out like a bottle rocket or like you let the air out of a balloon and it just, that's how you're pushed through these gates. I'm like, what are we doing? Why are we here? And so we get through, you know, in this video, I just posted a real, I took a video of it. I was really like, wow, that was horrible. Oh my gosh, like I'm in distress over this. So then we start running and we're like a half mile or maybe a quarter mile to where we have to meet, 'cause you wanna go watch the ceremony, then get the trophies, a spray champagne, then they have play music, it's like a whole thing. So we're running and we're kind of, we're fast. Like we run and we're passing a lot of people in the crowd. So we get there kind of early. And so in my head, I'm like, okay, people are gonna come in, it's not gonna be that bad. No, people are coming in from both sides of the track and squeezing us into us. So we're at the middle. It's the most claustrophobic I've ever been in my life. It's just getting tighter and tighter and tighter to where my arms are literally pinned to my side. I would actually panic. I would need a snorkel because I'm also short and I wouldn't be able to breathe. I'm tall, so I feel like that helped a lot because I did look this up. I am pretty much as tall as the national average of most men in Italy. (laughing) 'Cause I was like, I can see over most of the crowd actually. That was kind of good. I can breathe. But yeah, if you're short, like the girl in front of me came up to like my chest. She was, first of all, she was basically standing on it. She was tilted. Like, it was falling over. And when she leaned up against me, I was holding her up. So I was like waving on her. And my arms are pinned to my side. There's so many people. And in that moment, I'm just thinking, this is one of those moments where nothing bad is happening. Nothing bad has happened, but any moment, something horrible could start happening. It was so hot, you know, people I'm surprised for more people didn't faint, so. It sounds like a blast. Yeah, you know what? That part I didn't love. I just kept, you know, myself vulnerable at this end and I just kept taking deep breaths. I was doing a very good job. I'm very proud of myself. I didn't panic. 'Cause also, what are you gonna do if you panic? You'd stuck, you're trapped. You can't get out. There's literally thousands of people around you. So I was like, you can't panic, just enjoy the moment. And it was short, thankfully. But yeah, it was intense. And Caleb was so funny, 'cause he had his hand on me the whole time. And the crowds are like, you know, they're pushing people or trying to get out at the end. And I was like, just like go, I'll meet you up with you. It's so weird. Just like go. I was like, it's okay. I'll meet up with you. He was just like, he was like, no. I'm not gonna let go of you. Thank goodness, 'cause apparently, I had the survival skills of a fish. I think I would've just been likes to warm back into the crowd. I'd like never to be seen from my kids. And then he was like, oh, yay. Why did I think him letting go would've helped? Matt always keeps me in front of him. Well, Caleb kind of broke the crowd. I think he got the usher concert. And we gotta get on that little straight after work. It's like that, it's really heavy. I'm sure it's just like that. I'm like, help me, I'm bad for your not talking to me, 'cause he knows I cannot talk. I don't have the breath for you. You are clustered for me. See, you would've been really poisonous. It was crazy. That's hilarious. I was actually so, I was actually still on the edge of pain that when we got out of the crowd, I started to have adrenaline come down. I was through up. I was like, I'm going to be saying, like I'm shaking. I almost went, started crying. I was like, I killed like, that was the best moment of my life. I was like, ain't that makes me feel like it was really, really bad because I'm way more dramatic about that stuff. No, it was really bad. And, um, but Caleb was pretty confident. He was massive compared to everyone in this crowd. (laughing) He was like, I would've been great over just picked you up. And literally, he probably could've just put me over his head like, walked me out. Maybe just so much bigger than everyone in Italy. But, yeah, it was definitely an experience. I thought Milan was going to be really lame, just based off of what I saw online. But it was fantastic. It was so walkable, so safe, fashion capital of the world, it was pretty amazing. So yeah, we had a really good time. Are you not, well I wasn't going to bring up if you weren't going to bring up. I know it was a secret. No, it's not a secret, but I didn't want to brag. I don't want to go in and waste these sales associates time. It feels weird. It's kind of to go in and not have an appointment, but it's not just a place you go in and browse these stores, you know? So I just like, yeah, I'll go in and look, but it feels kind of weird to go in and not. I don't know. You're like, unless the door is open, unless it is kind of like, I want you to like, this is your Formula One race. Like this is your, you want to do this your whole life. So it was really sweet. And then I kept looking at kill and he was not making eye contact with me, but I can't approve that person. And I kept looking. I was like, wow. This is so pretty. So pretty. I kept looking for his eyes and he was just like looking around with his smile on his face. And then I was like, okay, I'm going to thank you so much. I can't just smile with my eyes. We'll be back. I wasn't going to start low. I'm going to start high. That's a rookie mistake. So, yes, it's really pretty. It's a small bag. I didn't want like a casual bag. I needed a nice like night bag. I just don't have anything like that. It's gorgeous. It's this burgundy wine leather. It's a soft, I think it's a calf leather. It has, it's like the perfect little shoulder bag. And I obsess with it. I know. And I just can't wait to wear it and give it to my daughter some day. Did you use it while you were in Italy? I did. I had to. I said I had to take my Ferrari for a drive. As you said. You. Get gone in the Ferrari. That's sweet. Thank you. I feel very giddy. It was just sweet to the moment. Like we go on this big trip. And it just felt like that bag is going to have a lot of sweet memories tied to it. Mm-hmm. Caleb was so excited for me. Of course. It was fun. It was so cute. It was an amazing trip. Essentially a souvenir. Yeah. Mm-hmm. A really nice souvenir. Really nice. I know. I just felt so special. That is really fun. They're happy. They're happy. This is so crazy about Italy. It's the last thing you're going to say because this really stood out to me. In Italy, when people are eating dinner, no one has their phones out. Mm. At all. Like that was one of the biggest things that stood out to me. The difference between Italy. I mean, there were a lot of things. But I was like, wow, this society is so social. Like, the phones weren't even on the table. They were nowhere. And I felt like that's how when I was looking around, I could always pinpoint the Americans because they were on their phones or had them out. Oh, sad. I know. I was like, this is a really good practice to just even have them away. And people were out. They would sit out there for hours and talk and just have dinner until like late night. They never had their phones on them. Mm. I know. It was very cool. That is awesome. I know. I feel like you're not on your phone a much. Thank you. I really try not to be. But then I also don't respond to things. I know. I know. But yeah, that was my trip. Thanks for listening to it. I hope I didn't ramble and bore you. But-- Not at all. How was it being away from the kids for that long? Oh, you know what? Okay, that first day. So we left on Tuesday. I was battling thoughts on the plane. Like, it was actually sad. I got sunk in. I've been there. It was my eyes to go to sleep and all I could think here was you're a selfish mom. You're so selfish. How dare you. You're going to die. Just like dark thoughts. How dare you leave them without a mother? Just terrible things. And I had to tell Caleb about it. And I was just praying through. I'm like, okay, what's true? This is not true. These are lies. Like, you don't have to feel this way. Mm-hmm. And I think Caleb didn't feel like-- Because I feel like guys are immune. It was so like-- We are. Literally. I was like-- Do you even love-- You don't even care about our hospital. I know. I know. I'm like, what? But they just are going to compartmentalizing it. And they are going to live in where their feet are. Totally. Totally. So it was good because I think if we had both been sad, obviously it would have been fun. And it different times we were. But yeah, I think that first day I thought a lot of guilt. And then I was able to kind of talk through that and like work through that pretty quickly. Do you want to know something really morbid? Yeah. I have a growing fear of turbulence. But if my kids are with me on the plane-- Knowing so better. I'm not that phased at all. No. Whereas if-- Which I'm like, gosh, I let them live. Why am I like-- If we're going down, we're all going down. I should be like, why is that my subconscious thought process? Let them have their life, I know you see. But I think we're all like leaving them when I'm like, you need me. Yeah. I'm like, I don't want-- I know. I don't want to-- It's so dark. But if you're like-- I don't even have a trauma. If you leave them like that. I'm like, that's traumatic. Oh, I can't do it like that though, because people trauma need to live. Okay, let's wait a little bit. Let's get it back on track. But yeah, I feel that felt that too. It was very dark. I know. It was very sad. And also the day before we did our will. So I'm like, really thinking about it. You did it the day before. You are in the point of doing the weirdest timing of the day. Yeah, I just had done it years ago. I'm like, maybe this should go down. No, don't worry. We got to make a will. How do you build that calm? Oh. I'm kidding. It's like 20 minutes. At least it's something for now. I got it noterized on Monday. We left on Tuesday. So. I thought I was like, who did you do it with? Yeah, free will that calm. But at least you still have to get it noterized. So it is official. It is official. Yeah, I said Caleb, you got to leave work. We're meeting at lunch. See you at UPS. And we're getting this baby noterized. So. It's in place. It makes me feel sick to think about. But it's there. No, we actually would surprise me. Is that one thing you made a will? I actually felt really good. Yeah. Because I think before it was like, what's going to happen? What's going to happen? It's like, oh, I know exactly what's going to happen. Like, I know where my kids are going. I know how things are going to situate. I don't know. I make me feel a lot better. I think also we have so much family and friends. Like such a good community that I'm like, if we had like had to move or I think Matt was deployed, like we had to go, I feel like that would be a way more scary situation. Totally, yeah. It would be for sure. Yeah, I'm grateful we have that in place. But it was, I was just thinking about it a while. So I had the guilt. It was really unique. I hate it. It was mean, mean thoughts. But I opened my eyes after my four hour sleep on that plane. I felt good. You never came back? No, I did a little bit here and there. Yeah. But for the most part, I could keep it at bay. CJ and Vivian were in such good spirits. They had the best time with my kids. I saw them. And every time I'd call, she'd be like, "Have a good trip, mom. I love you, bye." Like, he wasn't like dying to stay with me. Like, he was having so much fun. And then Teresa and John came in. So you got to see both grandparents. Like, it was like a vacation for them too. They were having a great time. They were having the best time. My mom said what I got home. She said, "I don't want to make you feel bad." But they weren't really sad. I think that's perfect. Because if they were sad, that would have been worse. They were. Yeah. Way worse because we've been there. It's not totally like if they're begging you to come home. Our mom is getting on a plane. I'm getting on a plane. I'm going home. Mom is getting on that plane. It took a couple of days. I feel like for Caleb and I had to settle and feel normal. Like, those first couple of days, I was like, "You having a good time? You having a good time?" Because you know, you just feel pressure to have a good time. You know? And then after like three days, I felt like I kind of stayed with him. You feel pressured. Yeah. I was like, the pressure's gone. And flashbacks to when he went to London last year, like Matt got me tickets for Christmas. And I had a full on meltdown in the, is it called Heathrow? Yeah. Readerport. To a person out of desk. I was like, I was like, my babies are back. I was like, this is a bad situation. This is a bad situation. Bad, bad, bad. I had a full on meltdown. Yeah, yeah. Because of the flight, it was a bad situation. And then they're like, you can't leave. And I'm like, I need to leave. Like, yeah, 15 planes. I can't leave. Okay.
The details of how bad the situation was it was just so it was so dumb like it didn't need to be the way it was and I was just trying to get through to her and it wasn't like you were in person freaking out. I was at home freaking I was like trying to escort me away. It was like I was like How do we fix this? I was yeah, I was just you know, I smell my bear coming in. Yeah, yeah, and she was out of control. Yeah Oh my god, but I was just really good and catch my breath really for a minute there Yeah, yeah, you know, I got to get pushed. Matt's already told me he was like four-year-old day. I want one night And I was like errr and then he was like please just think about it. It's in December And I was like errr not gonna happen. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was like love you so much one night It's too soon to think about. Okay, that's too soon. He's only a month old. Okay, he's only a month old. We put a deposit on a house. We have five hundred dollars. - Well, as you might think of this house. - Thank you so much for saying the record straight. - Just so I wouldn't know. - I actually, when Matt told me what we owe, like with our mortgage, and then like, how much we paid off of our loan and stuff, I'm like, how we walk around and say we own a house? - No. - No. - How we walk around saying that those are-- - I'm like, I need this house being closed. So exciting. - It's so exciting. - Let's just talk about our history, our living history from the beginning, because I think that's interesting. We've all had different phases of living. We've had roommates, college houses, renting with our spouses, marriage, roommate, you know, all the things. All the way up to buying. Which kind of feels like the last big step in the progression of your life of living. - Mm-hmm. Okay, you go first. - Well, in college, I did have two random roommates. Both of them ended up living with their boyfriends. - What? - So, freshman year. I feel so mature. I was just nowhere near that. Okay. - So here's the thing. Freshman year. I'm so excited. I went to college with some friends, but I would like, decided really late. And so they were already roommates together. I was like, no, I want a random roommate experience. I was like, so excited. And then I met her and like, we met her parents, like, I never saw her again. - Right. - She went and lived with her boyfriend. So then the next semester, I was like, I want a different roommate. And so I also wanted to live in the same residence hall as my other friends, because they had visiting hours, I just, I simply didn't want to follow those rules. So I moved into their building, got another random roommate. She also lived with her boyfriend. So I was living alone. - That's like your nightmare. - The whole, I know it was my nightmare. All the freshman year, I was alone. - Oh my gosh. - And yeah, it was really amazing. - Sorry. - That's some chilly. - Oh my gosh. It's not good. Just hit me. - And so I was just sad, but I think I needed to learn to be alone. - Yeah. - It's a good thing to learn. - Yeah. - I've never had to learn it. I've never done it again. And that actually, there's no funny stories from that house. Like that was all serious stories. We actually became really close with a lot of people that live there, and like I still think about them a lot. Nothing was sad. Lots of notable stories, but not one's appropriate for this segment. -Sure. -Moving on to our house in Hawaii that we rented by the beach. We were like, "Wow, we found a really affordable place." And it's right by the ocean. -Right. Crazy. And I'm also going to talk about this carefully because I'm still kind of scared of this landlord. But I've been kidding. I read the hood in a hauler. -She was a good time, but sometimes she was not a good time. And so what we didn't know is that the landlord lived about 10 steps from the house. How do you keep windows open to 1/4/7? -Yeah, the windows have to always be open because there's no air conditioning. So a lot of things happen while we lived in this house, related to just renting from maybe just not the best landlord ever. Probably a great person. -I'm so scared of her. I mean, she's kind of a convalent. -Yeah. -I don't know, you're talking about that. -So it's like she's scared of her. There's not many things she did that were legit conned. -What are the first red flags? This was a really tiny house, guys. It was actually 500, I think, scruffy counting the front porch maybe. -No air conditioning. So the windows are always open. Matt and I are in the bedroom. And we just hear "hello." -Hello. And we're like, "Surely it's not ice. We're in our bedroom right alone." -Right. And they're like, "Matt?" -Are you kidding? -Who is it? Like, "Yes?" You're communicating through the bedroom window. Yep. I don't even remember what she had to say. I think of that when I was just like, "Oh, lie." -This is a little odd. But also at this point, we are 21. And so nothing really is like feeling that weird. -Yeah, you're like, "Yeah, this is just life." -This just feels right. She wanted to ask us a question. -Right. -Of course. -Of course. So then another weird thing, we go. So where we lived, you'd have to drive at least a long drive to get into town. This house doesn't have a garage. So she would know when we left or when we weren't home, because the car's not on our front lawn. So we come back from being gone all day, like in town. And I'm like, "So weird. I didn't put my wedding ring on all day." I go, I'm like, "Where I put it?" I go, "Look, I'm not there." My wedding ring, my literal wedding ring. I put it in a dish in the bathroom. -Yeah, that's really weird. -Oh, no, no. I put it in a dish by the kitchen sink. I must have taken off while I was doing dishes. I'm like, "It's not there." It's pretty weird. Then we go and are like, "Was that there before?" Different home decor is up in the house, and a shelf has been taken down, and there's actually holes where it was. And I'm like, "Weird. This is the weirdest thing." And I was like, "Did you lock the house?" He's like, "Yes, I locked the house." Because we'd had packages stolen from our porch. -Yeah. -Now, it's all clicking. It's all clicking in it. -It's all clicking in it. -It's in it. -Never thought about that. It's all clicking. And so we were like, really made sure that we were like, people had come and taken things. We locked it. Anyway, he's like, "Yeah, I locked it." He's like, "You saw me unlock it." And I was like, "Weird." -Yeah. -Only person has a key to the house. -Wow. -It is our neighbor who is also our landlord. She would come in and move things. She moved my ring. She put it on a different shelf that she had put up. She put my wedding ring. I thought it was gone. It wasn't gone. It was just moved. -She just moved. She's rearranged in your business. -And she also stole our entire security project and some other things from us. -Yes. And she also sold illegally bread dogs. So that's the other thing too. Her dog got knocked up by the person down the street's dog and she was selling pure bread. -Pure bread. -Pure bread. Bad dog was not a cool foodel. I was like, I learned like, if I saw people, I was like, "Hey, bad guy." Because I was weird about people with allergies. Because I was like, "Yeah, yeah, that's true." That's not a golden dude. -She was like given titles to like F. You know, she had all the degrees and I was like, "That ain't right." -She's just a business. She's a hustler. -She's just not your hustler. -She's trying to survive in Hawaii. -She's trying to make a bug. -Oh, it's crazy. -I remember meeting her and she was sometimes super nice. -Yeah, we had margaritas with her some nights. -Yeah, she was like, "She's a fun person." -But then, oh, she did yell at us. -Yeah, she yelled at you guys a couple of times. -A few times. -And then she apologized. -That was sweet. -Yeah, I appreciate it. She came up to me and I was like, "I'm sorry." She was like, "No, I'm gonna stay like last night." She was like, "I'm sorry. I was on it." Like, I was like, "It's okay. She had some good stories for her." -She's a good type. -Who in all her? -You never know what you're getting against. -Then we bought a house. -Yeah, well, then you lived in one story. -Oh, that's true. -Then I lived in a studio. -Studio apartment. -Yeah. -Pregnant. -That was better. -Yeah. -That was better. -That was better. -We went from 500 to 100. -Right, right, right. -Like, put it in upgrade. -Oh, that was fun. I feel like I just had great situations in college with my girlfriends. I did transfer like second semester to Mizzou my freshman year. And so I got my, she's one of my best friends until it's this day, Lisaal. And we were kind of random. We knew one person in college were both transferring and it was kind of one of those, I just remember texting her and being like, "So, you need a roommate?" Question mark. Neither of us wanted to be weird and like ask, do you want to be my roommate? -Yeah, because asking someone to live with Emma is a really big thing. -It never met. -It never met. -Personal things. -We had never met. We met the day we moved in. -So sweet. -I know and she's still my best friend to this day. So, lovely, so. But yeah, she was amazing. We lived together two years and then I lived with some girls from my sorority for a year or two. And then. -Did you live in the sorority house? -No, I never did. I had two apartments in college. Then I graduated and I lived a home for one year. And then when Caleb and I got married, we lived in this apartment for three years in Kansas City. That this apartment was so big. It was three bedroom. It was as big as their house now. It's like 200 square feet. We paid 10, 95 a month for this apartment. It was in the perfect location. Like, we should have been charged an arm and a leg for this, right? But the reason we're so cheap is because the people that owned this building literally did not care about this building at all. And we're letting it just kind of crumble. So there were a lot of crazy things that would happen to us living in this apartment. Three or four times, we had water just pouring through our ceiling. The shower that we showered in every day. There was only 12 apartments in this building. So it was really small. And there was a basement that had shared storage lockers and the laundry and it was constantly getting flooded just from water. And I realized one of the culprits was our shower. And every time that I took a shower in this shower, the water just pooled like rain through the ceiling from our shower. And I was like, "Seriously, one of these days, I will fall through naked," right? I was like, "Oh, 'cause there was a basement." There was a basement. And that's where there was a door that people would come in. And that was where the storage was. The laundry was down there. It was like shared. And I was like, "Certainly one day, I will fall through this ceiling." And I will be nude. You would sting it. Just shower at us. But I kept calling them and telling them about it. And they were like, "It's probably not a big deal." It was raining down into the basement. Like a lot of water. You know, it was just like a fun place. She just loved that place. They lived there three years. Then we moved to Phoenix. This were things to be crazy. I always got kidnapped twice. Not funny, but kind of funny. We lived in this neighborhood that was, you know, the area around it was transitioning. And across the street from us was a transition house from jail. So yeah, around Christmas time, I got a sex offender. I got over 20 sex offender notices. In the span of like three weeks. They have levels. No, they have levels. Full pamphlet. I was like, thank goodness that we get this notice in the mail. Because most people, I don't, that's not a state law everywhere. This was the most detailed photographs of the individual. Yeah, it's all the details. "Height weight."
how long they were in prison for, what they did, degrees of dangerousness, so that was fun. Literally across the street from our house, there's only one that I scared of, Willie Jack. But Willie Jack was old, so I think I could win. - But anyway, oh man, yeah, it was crazy, I kept him. I actually still have him. - I actually was about to ask if you had those cushions. - Should I bring him for show and tell? - I'd like to look through him. - I mean, it's curious. - It was crazy, very scary, and I was pregnant, and we lived in this house, and so twice, I was walking in this neighborhood, 'cause the neighborhood itself felt really safe. One time I was walking, and this guy pulls up alongside the road with me, and I'm, you know, you know what someone's like coming up, and he's walking, driving alongside, and he rolls his window down, he goes, "Get in my car." And I'm just like, I'm like, "No, thank you." And he goes, "Get in my car." And I kept saying it, and then I was like confused. I'm like, "Oh my gosh, this guy is not taking "the hint that I'm not interested." Like, thinking he's hitting on me. - Oh. - Oh. - And I was like, "Oh, no, thank you, I'm married. "I'm not interested." Like, I'm little talkative like this. He's like, "Get in my car." And I was like, "No, I'm married. "No, thank you." He keeps saying it. And then he kind of stops and looks at me, and then I go, "Keep it moving." I'm not interested, and then he like peels away and just leaves the neighborhood. And then I don't know what came over me. It started to hit me. I was like, "Wait, that was crazy." That was really dangerous. - Did you really miss with you? - No. - And this was really close to the time that I was at the CVS nearby. - Yeah. - You almost had to find your car. - Riding behind my car. - Sorry. - I keep saying, "Holmes me." - I don't know. He couldn't have had a house Abigail. - I don't think that's gonna scare you out of it. (laughing) Anyway, that was scary. And then another time I was on a walk and the guy did that to me. And then he got out of his car, and I had to sprint. - Oh. - They had to run home. - Yeah, so that was really fun neighborhood. I said, "Hey Caleb, we're moving." (laughing) Can I bring your baby into this neighborhood? - It's very scary. So then we moved into an apartment. That was much, like loved the area, I was really safe. But our neighbor wasn't nudist. (laughing) It's really old. And he would always change his clothes with the blinds fully open. At night, with the lights on. (laughing) - Did you see everything? - He almost saw me. They could too, one time. Okay, because I was nursing. Sorry, guys, I'm all over the place. I was nursing and I was sitting on the couch to the door, like our exit door. And Caleb leaves it to go to work in the morning and I had to see just my boobs are full out. And I'm sitting there and I kept all of a sudden the door is wide open. I just see his little dog on a really long way. (laughing) He's starting walking. Walking towards the door. And I'm saying that I'm like, (laughing) 'cause I don't want to be loud so that he looks at me as he walks past. It's just his little chihuahua walking by and then chuck. And he's just falling and I'm like, (coughing) Caleb runs over and slams the door shut. Right before Chuck saw my taut does. And it was great. So, (laughing) Chuck wouldn't have had a great day. - Honestly, it would have been the great day. He was very nice. - Great day for Chuck. - So that was always fun. And then he bought her house and he's been great. - See, I think it's really good to have these character building moments. - Yeah. - You learn how to live with and around. - It's really important to learn around the live amongst people of all kinds and to be tolerant and to be kind and to just kind of give yourself a different perspective. - Totally. - Because we're just used to your own four walls what goes on in there. You don't even know if what you're doing is weird. - No, you don't. - It probably is. I'm sure people thought I was doing it for weird. And I had enjoyed it. (laughing) Some of you guys have some pretty funny stories too from this season of life. Okay, this first gal said, "My roommate left her toenail clippings "and chunks of literal meat on the ground, just the beginning." (laughing) - What do you mean by "me"? - Chunks are moving. - I literally feel creepy. - You just need a dog. - Okay, but how does that just end up on your ground? This one says she washed all her clothes, got stuck naked in the basement, when Rumi's boyfriend gave over. - I really thought something about what had happened at the coop. - One thousand percent. - It happened to my roommate's boyfriend in college. He stayed the night and then got locked out for all his sleep. But he was in his underwear in the hall. - What? - This is in the dorm. - Oh. - When he was in the underwear in his hallway and the hallway was three in the morning and he couldn't get back inside. They're people screaming and banging on our door for a long time. - Screaming. - But we were both such deep sleep homes. - We did it in here for a long time. - Did you hear about the time that Matt and I slept on John and Teresa's? - Yeah, they're driveway. - Driveway? - Yeah. - I'm sorry. - And it wasn't actually. (laughing) - So much lore. (laughing) - There's too much lore for the-- (laughing) - This girl said she'd eat cereal in bed and fall asleep. - And put the spoon and bowl with clatter. (laughing) That would drive me. That would send me. I had a roommate that made a blue doll with me and would poke it and sat it on her desk. - Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, you need to move out. - That would go down in history. - We had a sink in our bedroom. Walked into a roommate pouring out diva. (laughing) - No, man, sink. (laughing) - Honestly, where is she supposed to dump it? - No, I have a memory of Abigail. We shared a hotel room in L.A. - What do we do? - And Abby's out of the bathroom counter. You're staying with somebody else and you wash your feet in the sink. - That man? - She was in the bathtub. - And then I think you washed your armpits. (laughing) - I really did in the shower. - Why did I do that? - I don't know, I just remember that so much because the person who was like, "Hmm, and my head had probably made so much sense." - Yeah, that's what I did. - I will see you didn't strike me, so I looked at her and I was like, "Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah." - Yeah, she probably should have just-- (laughing) - She's just doing, she just doesn't want out of time. - I just need to clean my-- - She just doesn't. (laughing) - That's hilarious. - I don't know why that smirked that memory. We're just good, that's good. She left me to die. (laughing) And a tornado hours before my birthday. - Oh no. - I was asleep and didn't hear the siren. - She left me to die. (laughing) - I don't understand the story. I think she's upset about it, she'll-- (laughing) - Wait, she didn't wake her up in the siren. - Maybe her to go to shelter and just left her for the tornado to get her. - Oh. - That is kind of, that's low blow. - It might not have crossed my mind, honestly. - I think I would wake up the people around me. (laughing) - Like, hey, there's a siren. She went to shelter of low and it left her asleep in a room. That's a little twisted. - Yeah. - My roommate soaked her dirty underwear in a common bathroom sink and would leave it for a day or two. - Ooh. - Oh no, that's really, really, really gross. - I think it's out of commission. - My roommate's gotten me pregnant twice. - It's my husband. (laughing) - Great. - I was like-- - No, it's a scary story. - It's really easy. (laughing) - It's scary. - Ooh. - My roommate-- - Oh my gosh. My roommate used my razor and I-- (laughing) - Because they're a dark hair in it and I don't have dark hair. (laughing) - Oh, I got it in. - That is so bad. - Yeah, we can't leave evidence. - That is so bad. - That is so bad. - We can't leave evidence. - That is so bad and that is so-- You've gotta just move out. I don't think there's any more words exchanged. I think you're done. - You think it's-- - That works! - I'm saying! That is so, this is so crazy. - I can't leave evidence. (laughing) - That is so crazy. - I came back from a trip and found my roommate's cat. I used my Vanessa Litterbox. That I would, yeah. - Oh, so many stories about animals and pets that weren't getting taken care of. - That's a bad one, yeah. - My dog found her and visited line in our couch. - Oh, that's a bad feeling. 'Cause I'm sure that dog chewed her right up. - Yeah, like her roommate-- - She was a bad roommate. - Yeah, she was a bad roommate. - That's what I was thinking. - Unless she's upset that the teeth were in her couch. I don't know. - She put dish soap in the bread-of-filter. So me and my third roommate had diarrhea for weeks. (laughing) - Not the sabotage. - Oh, why would you give me the diarrhea? - I don't know, but-- - A dish soap, I thought. - Why would you put dish soap in the filter? - Maybe she's trying to clean it. - I feel like we literally just started using our bread-up just to keep water cold. I don't think anything was getting filtered. - Okay, my roommate's boyfriend stole my wallet and lied about it until I found the empty wallet in the dumpster. - Oh, there's so many bad stories with bad boyfriends in roommates. Ooh, that'll send you. - Yeah, those are some of the things you're like, "I hope you apologize to me once you break up with this crazy man." - My roommate was cheating on her boyfriend nightly in our apartment. - I did have a roommate that cheated on her boyfriend. It was an uncomfortable situation. - Did you say something? - I didn't actually have to because the guilt ate her alive. - Okay. - Yeah, so I think she handled it well. - Wow. - That was fun. - You know what? Here's what's wrong about me. I think I love stories like this. So when something like this is how, you're like, "Oh, I can't wait to talk about it later." - I know. - I can't wait to bring this up. Yeah, after, yeah. - After, yeah, these two are never-get-olds. (laughing) - Good times. I hope you guys can all look back on those moments, finally, even though it probably wasn't fun in the moment. - Right. - You learned a great girl so much for heavy roommates. - And you're not.
- You grow so much from buying your first house. - It is. - You learn a lot. - I learned a lot of things. And I actually still don't know a lot of things, which that's on me. Matt's probably trying to tell me a lot of things. I'll get there eventually. (laughing) Then the best who wants to be a real estate agent. - I do want to be a real estate agent, so I will have to learn. - You will learn. - The first thing I learned, this one's a more like a for fun one. To keep a poker face. - When you're looking at houses. - Because I would go through all these houses. I'm like, gorgeous. I love it. We could live here. We could have all of our babies here. Whatever they want to charge us, pay them double. Like, I would just, I loved it. Like if I, it was just like, very chatty and Matt's like, right, right. And I'm like, you're getting paranoid. He's like, no, like, you can't, if they know how interested you are, then they're not going to be willing to negotiate. Or like, he's like, just, you know, piped down. We can talk about this later. - Yeah. - And so, yeah, he's like, well, 'cause here's how we know is that one house we looked at. They had a camera in their kitchen. And I said something, I must have said something specific about like, maybe the price it was at. Or like, I don't even remember. But Matt was like, unless he was just totally paranoid, we after talking to a real estate agent too, they're like, yeah, they think that they probably were watching while we were in the house. And I was just like, you know, chatting away. I bet they probably were. We bought the house and they did not negotiate. - Oh, shoot. - So, is this house? - No. - Uh-oh. - Perfect. - Yeah. - That was our first house. - It's a great house. - So, yeah, we paid sticker. - Yeah, yeah, for him. - It had been on the market for a while. - Mm. - Dang it. - Hey, it was a great house, great location. - Learned my lesson. - So then we were like, other houses, I was like, I don't know how that's gonna work. (laughs) - I don't like that. - I don't like that you just fake me, things. (laughs) That's a good one. I think that's a really good one. I think also my first one probably, Abby, did you write it down? - Did you write it down? - I don't know what it is today. (laughs) - No, it's such a. I liked it this morning. - Yeah, let me see. - No. (laughs) - Zero words. - No, I have good ones. You actually, I didn't expect that you don't have to pay your first month mortgage. - Ooh. - That's a big one. - You didn't want to know. - Yeah, and I was, they told us that because I think the timeline when you're renting to buying, sometimes feels a little strapped. I think both situations, like if you have to sell a house to then buy a house, it's very stressful, but also like renting to buy and can be stressful timeline-wise. And we were like, no, we don't want to get stuck paying two mortgages, like a rent in a mortgage at the same time. Well, you actually don't pay a mortgage for quite some time. I appreciate like that first month and a half, you basically don't pay a mortgage. I can say from current experience, 'cause I asked this question with my realtor and our, so you don't have to pay the first month, but it is by day. So like, let's say we end up closing on November 15th. Okay, our next mortgage, or that would be December 15th. Our first mortgage payment is January 1st, the first of the month. So we have to pay those 15 days plus our first mortgage. - Yes, it's a little bit more. So it's a little bit more, so you don't pay that. It's like the second month you're in it is when you start paying, but you do have to pay for that. - You kind of catch up a little bit. - But that was a huge relief to us. - Yeah. - And it's like for you guys too. - So timeline-wise, just knowing that there is a little bit of a buffer there from when, it's not like your mortgage starts immediately. So if you're in that timeline, where you're like trying to match it up perfectly, a little wiggle room. - More on a financial side of things too, for that, is that I did not know that you need two years of income. And so this isn't even just if you're self-employed, it is especially difficult to get alone if you're self-employed. But even if you just have a job, you can do it, but it's gonna be way easier if you just wait until you have two years of income from the same place. - Yeah. - Because trying to make that work, in my head I was like, they can see that we can make, like they're like, you don't care actually. So, yeah, and I think there's a lot of avenues for people that are self-employed, but still is a lot trickier. - Yeah. - You have to really just find a more progressive lender. And so- - And underwriters. - Yes. Which they do that, you don't have to find those people. But yeah, we had a heck of a time getting our loan because of my income. It was just so hard. And they had to do some creative things. - Yeah. - Legal but creative. - Two years, which feels like a long time. - Yeah. - We also had to deal with that. And it's interesting because we had both. We're like, mine, my application part of it, super easy. I have had one consistent job for two years. Blake has had gaps in his from when we moved here and he was trying to find a job. He worked a job for a couple of months and then he didn't have a job, but he was looking for a new one. And so, they were like, you need to have dating back to that on like a typical application if you're just doing it online. And so, I had to go back to when we lived in Missouri, which was over two years ago at this point, to show that he had employment before that. And then they could accept it. But they just needed it, at least they did back. If you have nothing after you're unemployed at that two-year mark backwards, you have to put what was before that to show that there was a break in employment at some point. So, we also had to deal with that, but one thing our realtor or our loan officer told us too is that it should hopefully not be a problem. Depending on the timeline thing, so we applied in September or in August, Blake's two years of employment that we wouldn't have to date back to the Missouri one is in September. So, by the time we're actually getting our loan, it doesn't matter anymore. So, that's also if you have a little more wiggle room on the time when you actually file your loan, it can be fine. So, that's another thought. But for pre-approval applications, you have to do all that. - It's very confusing for me. - Yeah. - If it's self-employment stuff, I don't know. - I'm already dreading it. Look when we go to our next house. I'm like, how do we set things up now? - Same thing with like your latest taxes. I'm like, I don't know, probably I don't like. - Do you need to meet with a CPA? - Do you need to hire? - A student is passionate. - What? - I'm like, A, A. - Well, you can give me more guy. - That sentence me. - Okay. Okay, my next one. Three things we didn't expect by your first house. I think, look at what you prepared. (laughing) Listen, I saw like the renting horse stories and all that on here and I was like, great. And then now I'm thinking through this. I think I was surprised at how discouraged I felt through the house buying process. I think there's so much comparison. You get attached to certain homes. And also like when you have a certain budget, sometimes you're looking around, you're like, dang, if only I had a little bit more of this or dang, if only within that. I just thought, discouraged in a lot of ways throughout it. Which we ended up in the perfect house for us. Like I feel like God answered so many prayers with our home. And it was absolutely what our family needed. But during it, I think it's really easy to like feel those feelings. And I think I was surprised by that 'cause I didn't really expect that. I thought it was just like exciting and fun. Like you're gonna go look at houses and it's so cool. But you get in and you're like, shoot. Like, especially when you, you know, everyone has a budget. So trying to fit what you need and want in a budget. And sometimes feel tough. So just know that's normal. I think those feelings are very normal. I wouldn't feel as them. And then in the end, you're gonna end up in a great home situation. But you just have to have patience. - This one's really dumb. But I don't know why this one really surprised me. They don't clean it for you. - I'd be pleased. That is a great one. - Really? - I remember pulling up and I was like, they let, they forgot some things. - Yeah. - I was like, don't they take that with them? - They certainly didn't. - We had like baby toys that wouldn't, I thought they would just like make noise in the other room. And we had just moved in this house. I'm like, aren't there supposed to take their stuff? And also, it's grimy in here, right? - Right. - Aren't there supposed to clean it? No, they don't have to do anything. - Uh-huh. - I was like, where's the cleaning service? - No, I had to say the thing. It said, so what are they sending the cleaners? - And they said, they ain't, I was like, oh, it's dirty. - It's dirty. - And they, and they can't leave stuff. - They don't have to empty it out. - They don't. - Years of dirt and grime. - There was like a mattress. I was like, don't you have to take your mattress with you? (laughing) - I don't love this. - Yeah, I was like, those drawers. - Still have hair in them, in that mine. - That's what I'm so excited about. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Because I'm not a cleaner. I'm not that person, but I don't see it. I don't, it doesn't register in my brain. - Yeah. - So you guys would probably walk in and be like, "Daddy, that's bad." I'll be like, "Oh, is it bad?" - No, I was just surprised that they could just like, leave stuff in there. - That is it. - Because when you're renting-- - Leave their men. - They have cleaners come in and make them brand new. - Yes, that's why I assumed it was just part of the process. - No. - You're a realtor to make them rope in it or something. - Actually, that was a great gift for a realtor. - Yeah. - Yeah, so it could come dirty. Just know that. And I should have known that. - Yeah. It does, it does come dirty. - A third one, I kind of expected, you know, the neighbors would be really excited that you're moving in. (laughs) Your neighbors might not be. Not that our neighbors weren't, we have amazing neighbors. But in my head, I'm like, they're gonna throw a party for us. (laughs) Welcome neighbor. - Welcome neighbor, you know. - It's just another day. So, you know, the gesture of expectations on that. I mean, our neighbors are amazing level of our neighbors. But I brought them cookies, you know? - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. - You didn't see anything. - I didn't see anything.
(laughing) - My apartment, I brought my neighbor's cookies when we moved in because our dogs were barking and one of mine gave me a picture of all our Amazon gift cards. I said, "Addy, thank you." - Well, that was crazy. - We had a similar experience over Christmas. I went around, when we lived in our apartment, I brought all these cookies and like, put a little Bible verse on it and just send 'em off. We got some, we got like three or four gift cards in return, I'm like, "I didn't give you money. I gave you cookies." - And I thought, "I gave you a pretzel ride." - I literally gave you pretzel rides. - I was like, "That is so generous." I kind of think sometimes people are shocked by the kindness that they got into good tidings. - Yes, I would say this same neighbor makes us cinnamon rolls, she doesn't listen to that. She's, they're so bad. - Oh dang. - So when they deliver, we put 'em in the fridge for a couple days and then so. - Oh, we had our neighbor in our apartment as a chef, she was amazing. She'd bring us, I missed that. - I missed that, yeah. - I got you now. - Perfect. - I missed cinnamon rolls. - You have good cinnamon rolls. - Yeah, that's so nice guys. - I think Heidi's cooking. - Okay. - Oh, Heidi. - That was good. We have a few more that I'm gonna think of. I'm gonna talk about about a big tree on. Abby's prepared though. - I got, I got some. - Perfect, I got some too. I think, look at my feet. (laughing) - Okay, maybe I didn't get anything on purpose. - Heidi, do you have any that you wanna share in the main? - I was not expecting to buy a new build house at all. It wasn't even on my radar. The thing about a new build house is a lot of the times the rates are a lot lower, so you can get more for your price range monthly. Like obviously the price of the house is the price of the house, but your monthly payment is gonna be lower because of that interest rate. So I didn't know that. - Yeah. - We looked at four houses. We only, like we went to a new build community, looked at new build houses, went the next day and looked at a bunch of resell houses. And I didn't realize how much they don't look like the pictures. - Yeah, looking at magic. - That aren't like super expensive houses. You go and you're like, - Oh, that actually makes more sense now. - This feels a little bit more cosy. - Yeah, it feels a little smaller. - The kitchen. - I wouldn't do. - Oh, the flooring is completely different in this room than it is in this room. - That sends me when we walk in homes and every room would have a different floor. - DIYing is such a big thing right now. - Yeah. - It can make or break reselling your home. - It can. - If you do it cheaply. - If you guys are able to do it. - Caleb knows what he's doing. - He's doing a job. - But I think he's doing a job. - I walk into his mind, I think he's doing a good job. We walk into these houses and we're like, that was a DIY situation, you know. So I think that was like my other big takeaway was like, don't fall in love with the listings because they don't always look the same in person. - Yeah, that's good. - In that way. - That's all I can think of. - I do have two more good ones for Patreon. And yeah, I just wanted to know one of those experiences that you have and this is a funny experience or a really scary experience. Hi, howdy, howdy, howdy. - Happy birthday. - Hey, oh my God, you said so sweet. - So 15th birthday is so exciting. You get your permit, you get your driving. Listen, it was ugly for a while. Who is the worst driver of all of us? - Oh, I'm pretty good. - Is it me? - It could be me too. - Abby makes fun of my driving a lot. But she also never offers to drive. - I'm never driving. - What the heck? - I drove this bike off. - Listen, I drove this to that one concert and I was terrified how do you guys in my car would drive you? - I think you did a good job. - You did a good job. - Nothing is me. - That's really kind of me. - It's me. I had lack confidence, I had a good amount because I drifted. - You always talk about me talking. I like, doesn't know whenever I'm longer than me. - I get honked at a lot. And the kids are like, why are they honking? I'm like, mommy got a little too close to the lane. - I don't have that position. - No, me always, I just make fun of you 'cause the one time we drove just over to the last day. - Can't help but I ran the factory story. - And she kept going like this. - Yeah, you can drive next time. - Just over all our city. - I just got like, I'm just over-consuming. - That axle on the car was off. - So many quick jerks, back to back to back back back back back. - Can't help but I like, is this really how she drives? - Yes. - But this is so cute. - Yes. - It's not like that now. - It is though. - That is bad. Just the Tesla makes me a little nauseous. - Yeah, how do you feel driving the new car versus the Tesla? - I don't have, I'm not good at it. - Oh really? - I'm not gonna get an accident but I'm drifting a lot. - A drifting. - I am a good driver. This is the one time and I was like, this was a bad thing. So I used to work at this boutique and we would park behind and we had, they had like a little lot. And you're basically at the roof line because it's on a hill. Okay, so just a paint picture. So you park up against the staircase that goes down into the building and then you're below your parking lot. Does this make sense? - Kind of. - So a picture of the building, it's built into a hill. So I'm parked behind. So I'm technically on top of the building. - Okay, okay. - But it's a parking pad. And then there's the staircase that goes down that's in between the store and the parking pad. And so it's like a little bit of a hill that you're parked on because you're on a hill. And I finished my shift and I, you didn't put your car in reverse. And I put my hair in, you know, and I kind of gasped a little bit because I got to get up, I'm on a hill. So I gasped. - You were in drive, I was in drive. My car goes over the cement parking block. - Okay. - Hits the fence, almost falls. Like I'm almost, the good thing there's a fence 'cause I would have gone down into a staircase. - Cement staircase, knock it out of my car, I'm like, oh my gosh. - That's what you see now. - What do I tell? And so I'm like looking at it and like that was almost horrible, but I'm still trying to get out of there. - I'm also still turned around 'cause I thought I was going backwards. So I had to put my car in park and I had to go into the store and get the owner and I said, hey Nicole, you own this building, you own that fence, I drove through it. (laughing) She sprints at the back door, panicking. And she's like, oh my gosh, oh my gosh. Like freaking out 'cause I almost drove down into a literal staircase. Like they would have had to get a crane had to pull my car out. (laughing) And she's like, terrified. And I was just way too non-drawn for like a 21 year old. Like yes, I'm, I'll pay for it, dang, she didn't make me. - Gosh dang it. I might tell my parents this and they're like, what are you talking about? (laughing) She put up a really strong fence after that. Like she was like said. Because honestly, like I would have never sued her. That was obvious to my fault. But if anything had happened, that would have been really bad. That was crazy. Make sure it goes in reverse. - Okay, one more. - Hi Abby, Abby and Abby. My fellow Phoenix mom here. But to be honest, I don't ever take my double stroller out and about.
It's totally just for walks really like I never put my controller in the back of my car and take it to the store Yeah, like I'm either wearing Vivian I'm pushing her in the do now or you know Like she just walking or I'll put her on and he'll get in the do now just like push him around That's like a wee. Yeah, so I never actually bring my stroller to stores and stuff So it's totally for the purpose of walking so I feel like just get a stroller where you feel like you have the best walkability with it I really like my mockingbird. I enjoy it. It's heavy, but they're all heavy You know me put there actually not the Zoe one is 15 pounds really for the double Well, I just feel like you feel heavy. Yeah, but I love it a 40 pound kid and a 45 pound Yeah, it's gonna be a little heavy. Yeah, I love that you can with the mockingbird you can take out the bass and it like you There's so many configurations for it I the reason why I don't feel like I need that is because I wear them when they're that little and then once they're big enough They can sit up in the chair. Yeah, I put Vivian in it a lot Yeah, I do I didn't wear her for our like neighborhood blocks. Yeah, I put her in the bass and that portion of it and now she sits in the seat Um, I would say every most of the moms I talked to that don't have a side-by-side or like I really wish I got a side-by-side Especially because it's like when you're getting you and you have your first kid You're not thinking about oh, I need the capabilities to add stuff to it and obviously you're not gonna get a non-side-by-side that can add another seat if that makes sense so but it does feel so silly to get with just one kid Uh-huh. It's 20 to 25 pounds. The double is? Okay, it's still really light like I wear it on my back this double stroller, and I'm fine. Yeah But I would say like it's good for like the zoo for like anything You're doing a lot of things on the lot of Disney the aquarium going on walks. It says 27 pounds in single seat mode in 35 and double seat mode Yeah, I really love my mom 35. I think it's got really good walkability. I Pushed that thing every morning, and I love it. I think it's different for each person Yeah, which is not helpful at all, but like we just had a friend to ask us like Wagon or stroller, and then I was like wagon because and I was like but stroller because Get it all girl And then never bring it anywhere and just let your kids roam Strollers yeah, I started using one just so I could go on a walk with a baby See that's a thing. What about you know? No, you can't take your baby and a dude on a walk Those days are not meant for walk. Yeah, they're like It's the worst and they're all crunched in there. You ever hit a rock pushing that baby to do no? It's not meant for that. How far you go on your walks? Okay, these are like I got on our neighborhood. We're going around a little apartment in the road. Yeah Yeah, yeah, we're going on we're putting some miles on this bass and that one and it's Probably more comfy for the baby. That's why I was really supposed to sit in that I'm kind of weird about those rules I'm like so anti-more gear I think that's why I like the mockingbird because it is concise like I can just have the bassinet attachment And then I could take it off and put the little things on I don't have to have like a bassinet stroller in a double stroller in like all this stuff It's all just one you know, and it's really easy to store. Yeah, I just borrowed my friends bass in it Yeah, so I just passed those around. Yeah, that's why I like my I like the mockingbird, but yeah, that's good Everyone has their own preference. Yeah, I'm so sorry about that always hungry Okay, give me a second because you went to a cooking class Can you just tell us what you made with nani taught us banana? Yeah, hold me tell you Damn it that happened that you're super high I didn't really matter because it's not really about the taste This was more it was still fun to make it one time Matt and I went to a global cuisine class Uh-huh in Mexico and we made a Caesar salad And then left We were like this is surely just beginning. Oh my god. It's so gone And I had like dragged that was it, and that's what we got Global and a lot of wine. I was like I am oh my god. This is what I thought Really fun. See the global cuisine Okay, I can I just say my recipe because I'm actually just gonna verbally verbally tell you this is not This is not ground breaking or shattering. This is this is a tale as old as time But I just figured out how to make this and I feel like I Cook a lot. It's a sweet potato, but have you seen how people have been making sweet potatoes on my friends? I mean this this is the side of the internet that I've been sent How to make sweet potatoes really yummy literally just cut them lengthwise Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Rub a little olive oil salt pepper cook them directly on the pan face down Then cook them for like 45 minutes take them out let them sit for like 10 to 15 minutes And you turn them over and they are like caramelized Because they're sweet, but then you also put salt and pepper, so it's sweet and salty And I paired them with some steak. I've been making them. I'm gonna put chili over them tonight I'm like why am I just not discovering sweet potatoes. Yeah, like for me I always was like I kind of like sweet potatoes, but only if they're prepared right and I didn't really know I would always chop them up into small pieces This is so much better. I know this sounds so dumb because you're like duh. We know how to make a potato abbie but I didn't know so this is Maybe maybe someone's in the same voters man. Mm-hmm. It's so good. So good. I love a caramelized I forget that I like sweet potatoes as much as we're entering fall Let's be making more sweet potatoes everybody. They're cheap There's like new like loaded sweet potato type like recipes recently. Put chili on it. It's good Really want to show this recipe because it's so good But I also wonder if I need permission because it's from Kim but her it's slowly titled my friend Kendra's pumpkin bread She needs her to ask her friend Kendra. I don't know I'm sure Kim doesn't care it's a recipe. I'll share it and why did I feel that way about Caitlin's protein balls? I did ask for permission and I almost put on the video of permission She granted to share yeah Well, I'm gonna text her and if she doesn't give permission then we can cut my recipe out So just know that if my recipe gets cut out it's because I didn't get permission to share it but This is um Kim she's cut me some of my mentors She has this amazing pumpkin bread recipe that she got from her friend Kendra and it's literally titled my friend Kendra's pumpkin bread It's so good getting that recipe if she doesn't give permission to share it out the black market This is a this is a long recipe. So I don't think we could put it in the caption I think we'll just maybe let's just put on the screen. I'll send the picture Fantastic pumpkin bread. It's full good. It's full sugar and it is can we stop making not I know no healthy breads anymore I'm sorry the full sugar that was like when I was 21 and I was making the healthy bread with applesauce I did that too. Yeah, and then guess what I would eat the whole loaf And then I'm like was this really healthier because I've just ate a whole loaf I could just put sugar in it and have one slice True yeah But this pumpkin bread is so moist.
