Rookie Landing Spots + Dynasty Trade Targets - Dynasty Fantasy Football
58m 55s
The podcast delves into the evolving landscape of fantasy football draft strategy, focusing on how landing spots and player value intersect. With the draft nearing, hosts analyze key prospects such as A.J. Brown, Brian Thomas Jr., and Garrett Wilson, identifying them as potential trade targets or undervalued picks. They emphasize that player performance and team needs are equally important—especially in dynasty leagues where long-term value and market sentiment matter. Quarterback prospects like Ty Simpson and Diego Pavia are viewed as second-round or later picks due to limited fantasy upside, while running back and wide receiver needs are tied to specific team dynamics. The discussion highlights how draft capital, top-30 visit data, and team decisions (e.g., the Browns’ multiple high-value visits) shape outcomes. A key insight is that landing spots—such as the Titans’ need for a running back at 32 or the Chiefs’ potential for a hybrid tight end—can significantly alter a player’s fantasy value. The hosts conclude by reinforcing the importance of situational awareness, noting that even strong prospects may not translate to fantasy success without the right context. They also promote DynastyPass.com as a resource for rankings, mock drafts, and trade targets, ensuring fans stay informed through the draft and beyond.
Welcome to the Fantasy Footballers Dynasty Podcast with Borg, Betts, and a Baller.
But on today's show, we are going to be talking some landing spots.
You know, does it change your opinion hypothetically if a certain prospect goes to a certain team?
Because we're closing in on the draft, man.
We are very, very close.
And, you know, there's only so many takes.
The takes are out there.
Betts, do you have any more takes that you need to unload?
Mike, I mean, you make it seem like the draft is only a week away.
We have three weeks of takes left.
And if you remember the last couple of draft cycles, like this was the time last year where like Shadur was like the odds-on favorite in the betting world to go second overall.
And then we all just assumed like. Not on this show.
Not here.
Not on this show.
And then there was the Will Levis thing.
Like that was all kind of happening this time.
Then there was the Stroud year where it's like he's definitely not going number two.
Not a chance at this point.
So there will be all sorts of. I don't even want to say takes, but just hot farts.
Out there in terms of reports about what's going to happen in the draft.
But, man, I'm excited.
You know, every year we do this where we go from January through April and we kind of just get caught up on the rookies and really dive in.
We get to actually find out where these guys go, which is going to be a lot of fun.
We're in the season where it's just a little bit of nonsense.
A little bit of nonsense.
Like, here's the sleeper we're looking for.
Like, dude, super undrafted.
I don't know.
We're just. We're running out of it.
We're running out of steam.
We're running out of information.
But we still need to talk about these landing spots.
Before we do that, I want to remind you, if you want access to our takes, all of our stuff, that's in the Dynasty Pass, which is a part of the UDK Plus UltimaDraftKit.com.
You can go get that.
That has our Dynasty Startup Rankings, our Evolving Rookie Rankings.
Some mock drafts are on there.
Production profiles.
Did you know that you can go to DynastyPass.com?
Jason, I was in the flow.
Yeah, I don't care.
I was in a fugue state, pitching our product.
And it was great, but I genuinely had no idea.
Dynasty Pass?
Did you know that you could go to DynastyPass.com?
We own that URL, and it goes right to where you need to go.
What URLs do we not own?
Very few.
Google.
So we got Dynasty Pass.
DynastyPass.com.
So if you want all of our Dynasty information, go there.
Even easier.
Yeah.
DynastyPass.com.
Nailed it.
Whatever you need to get ready for your Dynasty season and your upcoming. Maybe it's. You're in the startup season.
Maybe you're a long-term Dynasty player.
We've got information going for you up there at the DynastyPass.com.
The quick question of the day.
Which players. This is from Baylor.
At BBaylor.
Which players would you look to acquire after a down year last year?
Beth, we'll start with you.
I feel like I had to give a homework take here.
And I want to be clear.
This is like the perfect guy to trade for if you are a contender.
And if you are not. If you're not a contender, it's the perfect guy to trade away.
Which I believe, Mike, you still have this player in your tradeaway target.
So I don't want to. Because he's right in the sweet spot of his long-term value is quickly dwindling.
He will still be good for this year.
And he'll probably still be good next year.
Yeah.
The guy I've been talking about is A.J. Brown.
I think he's a perfect guy to trade away if you're a middling kind of team.
If you're rebuilding, now is the time.
Don't wait another year.
Because we've seen this with a bunch of wide receivers where you wait a year or two longer.
And you're stuck holding the bag.
But if you're a contender, there's so much stink right now about A.J. Brown.
And kind of what's going to happen after the NFL draft.
Specifically June 1st with the trade or not.
But this is a player who's entering his age 29 season.
And as bad as last year felt.
And if you watch the Eagles offense, like I did every Sunday.
It felt terrible.
He still caught 78 passes for over 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns.
If that's kind of the bad version of A.J. Brown that we're getting.
At worst case here, for a year or two, you're getting a wide receiver 2 in fantasy.
I still think he can rebound a little bit and come back to what we saw 2 years ago.
And 3 years ago.
And really for his career, just been so efficient.
Averaging 2 plus yards per outrun every single season he's been in the league.
Which is crazy to say.
And to me, when I trade for guys, I like to have outs for this to work.
So for me, it's like he stays in Philly.
The offense is more dynamic this year.
You see more innovative play calling, etc, etc.
Jalen Hurts maybe bounces back.
Or he goes to New England where he is no doubt the guy with a quarterback.
That we all love in Drake May.
Whose kind of special sauce is that ability to throw deep.
We know A.J. Brown can make those big plays.
So I know right now he's a scary investment in Dynasty.
And I wouldn't really target him, I don't think, in a startup necessarily.
This is more a trade for if you're a contender.
What are you trading away to acquire?
I think he's like the perfect guy mid-draft.
You know, you get to like 106, 105, something like that.
So you'd trade a first for A.J. Brown right now as a contender?
Well, like where are you guys at with Kenyon Sadiq?
Like he kind of goes at the 105, 106 range.
The name I was plugging was KC.
It was KC Concepcion, who I like a lot.
I do too.
Jason and I have kind of, we're on this, we got to whisper it.
You can't even say this out real loud, but you're still going to hear.
We're kind of forming a fade Kenyon Sadiq alliance.
Yeah, it feels like it.
I know.
But man, his delts are freaking volleyballs.
Man, God, they look good.
He is a supreme athlete.
There is no doubt that he is a wonderful athlete and he'll have great draft capital.
So that's why we whisper it because it feels foolish.
Yeah, because the NFL is going to love him.
We're just, when you put up, here's the thing.
If you're going to dominate in the NFL, you are that level of dude.
How are you not dominating against guys who are 19 years old?
Guys who are, oh, the voice of public opinion has been a while.
He had another important tight end on his team to share targets with.
If you are that dude, you dominate.
I'm with you.
It just feels, it feels tough.
But so you're saying that range, like the middle of the first, you'd be.
I think so.
You'd be willing to trade that for A.J. Brown?
It is interesting.
To think if you are a contender and you plug in some of those names, like, would you rather have Sadiq?
Would you rather have Concepcion?
Right.
As a contender for this year versus A.J. Brown, it's, I think it's, I think it's a fair debate to have.
And if you're really close and you're a wide receiver away, I would probably rather take the shot at the championship.
So it's an interesting name.
I'll bring up a name that's very different.
It's the exact opposite.
First of all, I did not realize, A.J. Brown had such a down year, you know, it was like, he sucked.
He was the wide receiver 10.
And he missed two games.
He missed two games and was the wide receiver 10.
It was like, oh no.
He had, his spike weeks were, were solid.
But the guy that I think right now is a good trade for target in dynasty, especially based on a lot of conversations we've been having around this player, is Brian Thomas Jr.
Because he's not so hot right now.
And I think people are pretty down and out about him.
Obviously, he had a terrible sophomore season.
He became the wide receiver two, then maybe the wide receiver three, then maybe the wide receiver four for his own team.
He couldn't catch the ball.
He was, you know, it was a real tragic, terrible sophomore season on a year where the Jacksonville Jaguars were good.
Right.
And their offense figured it out.
And it looked like Trevor Lawrence took a step up.
And so, will he be?
around? Will he be a Jaguar?
is he good? Is he going to be the third wide receiver? Will he have fantasy value in the
future? All those questions are in the fantasy manager's minds on Brian Thomas Jr. Here's what
I know. I know that Brian Thomas Jr. is 23 years old, is able to put up a wide receiver four season
in fantasy football, is able to, as a rookie, as a little baby boy, put up 1,282 yards and 10
touchdowns. Sure, he didn't have the target competition or whatever, and it wasn't Trevor
Lawrence that he did the main work with, but Brian Thomas Jr. is a good, young, athletic
wide receiver who can dominate in the NFL. That's not really even up for debate because he's done
it. And so, yeah, things are looking bad. That's kind of where you target. I made a trade offer
in our main dynasty league. I did not acquire him. It was rejected. It was rejected. What did you
offer? I offered, I didn't have this year's first, so I offered next year's first. I offered this
year's first. It got turned down? Yeah. A 27 first? Yeah. Wow. Interesting. But it's one of
those things where I don't know, the path is not clear. Maybe he comes out this year and just is
the alpha. I mean, you look back at last season, it was like right out the gates, seven targets,
12 targets. They were making him the focal point of the offense. He was not doing well. And his catch percentage was like sub 50% and it didn't work out. There's a
path where he just comes out week one and is their primary wide receiver. Even if they sign Parker
Washington to a deal, that's a path. There's also a path where, hey, he's not the one for our team
and therefore we're willing to unload him to another team. Another team's not trading for
him to be like, I think he could be a good wide receiver three for our team. If another team
trades for him, that's a team saying we need a wide receiver and this is going to be helpful for
our team. So right now I think you're getting pretty much the lowest value that we will see
for a while in Brian Thomas Jr. And I'm going to bring up for, I will forever cape and stand for
at the game. And I had forgotten, I lost in the, the, the disaster of the jets and the Justin
Fields experiment. And then Taylor coming in and like it was offensively, it was a really,
really bad product to watch weeks one through five before Garrett Wilson was hurt. He was
the wide receiver five, the wide receiver five through five weeks of the season with all of
those things going on. And you say, well, yeah, it was, it was heavy on touchdowns, which it was,
but he was also catching six and a half passes for over 75 yards a game. He was on a,
in those five weeks, his pace was 112 catches for 1300 yards. Like this is not someone who's
getting, it's not the Romo dunes, a Mecca Buka start where it's just, we're getting,
we're barely getting any yards, but we're, we're catching touchdowns. Garrett Wilson was doing
both of those things with horrific quarterback play. The quarterback play is still
not going to be great. It is going to be Gino Smith. I'm not saying I'm not going to say that
Gino Smith's going to turn his career around, but the passing attack will be more NFL like
with like the typical pocket passer with Gino, then it would be with Justin Fields. You'll get
higher volume. I don't care. Let them spend a first round pick on a wide receiver or whatever.
I don't care. That just makes the team better. Garrett Wilson's market share will be secure.
To the New York jets and stopping Garrett Wilson from hitting his high 20, maybe even low 30
percentile of, of all the targets. And he's good enough. That's that sucks. Is that, is that the
wrong word? Yeah. You want the percentage of if he's the 30th percentile, that means he's.
Oh, he's in the bottom. Yeah. You're right. You're right. Do great in math. That's cool.
Oh man. It's all right. That's why we're a team here. I think Garrett is great.
I forgot just how great in fact, the, the, and hot the start was last year. So reminding people of
that, we aren't, I don't think we're going to get the, the hopes and dreams of Garrett Wilson
turning into a Jamar or a JSN alley. Certainly not this year in dynasty. We, you would imagine
that the New York jets in two years are going to have a complete turnover. That doesn't mean
they'll fix it, but you have, you have a chance. You have a chance. Maybe they get one of the,
the smart offensive coaches in and he takes over and they get one of the great quarterbacks in the
27 class. There's no way. There's no way that they do it. Did what he did at the beginning of last
year. I know it is impossible. The numbers don't make sense. I did not remember this at all, Mike,
because it was also like, it was happening in the fourth quarter. If you remember, it was like,
Oh no, oh no. And then the fourth quarter would show up and the numbers would get there.
And four of those five weeks were great. And four of those five weeks, he got a touchdown,
which feels like impossible with Justin Fields and this version of the jets,
76 yards and nearly seven receptions. A game is goodness gracious. He's good. Well, I mean,
there's no debate there. We, we know he's good, but he's also, he's also been the type of player
that can do what no one else has ever been able to do. Like have 168 targets in a season and be,
not in the top 30 wide receiver because of the archetype of player he is.
It's, it's not just like, Oh, I'm the boundary wide receiver that I need to dominate 50, 50 balls
and with a crap quarterback, which is, that's not going to happen. No, it's a guy who wins. He gets
open and, and then makes things happen after he catches the ball. So don't forget about Garrett.
He still had a solid start to in five weeks is that's not a lot, but that's not nothing as well.
We like to play the seasons.
Let's say we have years of a sample size of him in the NFL.
Oh, right. He's a target.
Here's that he's good, but so that's it. Those are the guys we would take a look at.
I mean, if you're going to acquire someone who had a bad year, it's going to be a little gross.
Like if you, if it was the, if it's a perfect situation of, Oh, that it's like, it's Jefferson.
I would look to acquire Justin Jefferson. Like get out of here. The person who has Justin Jefferson's,
I'm going to tell you to get out of here because they're expecting better things next year to truly
buy someone at a low value. Yes. The market has to believe that the value is low. Exactly. You have
to believe it's not going to get better. The path is not obvious. If the path is obvious,
then you're not buying low, but also trade for Justin. Oh yeah. I would love to trade for Justin
Jefferson. Uh, we're going to take a quick, a quick break and then we're going to talk landing
starting off at the top. It's going to be quarterback. We do have some quarterback
needy teams. We're talking Raiders jets, Cardinals, the Cleveland Browns,
and the Pittsburgh Steelers are the teams that stand out at the top. We know that
Mendoza is going to go number one. Now then the conversation kind of immediately shifts,
at least in the, if you're looking at NFL mock draft database, Ty Simpson is clearly the number
two quarterback coming through in mock drafts. I think that's what the sentiment is around town.
And, and I'm not talking like the, like you brought up best, like the should do her it's
people aren't saying Ty Simpson's going to go three to the, the Arizona Cardinals. They're
the back of the first round. He's probably a second round type of Peter Schrager just put out. And
he's, his is one of the most important mocks every year. He gets a lot of things, right. That are
every time he puts his mock out over the last couple of years, he gets mocked because that's
not what that's not going to happen. And it's like, and then those things happen. And it's like,
guys, you just, you're in an echo chamber and all your mock drafts look the same. And then the NFL
draft is not going to look like that. Um,
and in there, I will say that he did not have Ty Simpson going in the first round.
Okay. And there does seem to be a gap between Ty Simpson and Garrett Nussmeier,
which Nussmeier had some injuries and things that seem to have brought him down. He don't forget
about him is what we'll say, but we'll start with Ty Simpson. Yeah. And Betts, I'm going to go to
you. We talked to Ty Simpson a bit on the main pod and the Bama truth is they came for us because
we had more of a, Oh, I said he, it was not a mobile.
Dual threat. And they're like, he's a true dual threat. Dude. Average six rushing yards a game.
We get out of here. We were pointing out statistically that Ty Simpson did not have
a Russian quarterback profile. Do you know that Michael Pinnock's his 40 time is he,
he could absolutely be an unbelievable dual threat. He has, he doesn't do it.
Ty Simpson can Ty Simpson is athletic. So like, yes, I'm not, he can move of scrambling. Yes.
He is capable. He can get out. He,
He can escape.
He can. move in the pocket extend plays but it's like daniel jones as a as a college player who
the which there there were people who they were champions for daniel jones saying no this guy's
going to run way more than you think but even his profile was like a couple hundred i think he was
in like the 300 rushing yard area i can double check it but like it wasn't the an overwhelming
profile but people as a whole weren't saying well daniel jones is going to come in he's the next
you know konami code quarterback but he can't daniel jones came in it was and it was running
a decent amount but his profile was much stronger on the ground for then ty simpson so bets what are
your how are you thinking about ty and you know like what are your your estimates here for the
draft for daniel jones rushing yards 486 518 319 oh yeah the 500 we should have thought better
about daniel jones well the giants did um yeah
this one's tough because like i i get the argument every year for quarterback where it's like you know
the nfl needs them they push them up they go in the first round but i thought it was interesting
just to kind of piggyback on the the schrager thing he and daniel jeremiah did a podcast uh
just this week they went back and forth like one picked evens one picked odds in the nfl draft they
just went back and forth with a mock at the end neither guy had ty simpson in there and they were
just talking about they're like i can't find a home for him that isn't like arizona or the jets
and the jets have so many 2027s
first round picks it's like i i'd be surprised if they spent a first round pick on him maybe they
take him at the top of the second or something maybe the cardinals do that but he just doesn't
seem like a highly coveted player right now in this class that people are going to trade future
assets for when everybody knows 2027 is the stronger quarterback class to go up and get him
um so the jets have pick 33 and pick 44 right and like if he falls to them then maybe they just say
yeah let's let's take him let's see um but as far as i'm concerned i don't think they're going to be
i agree he doesn't have the most fantasy friendly skill set like let's say he goes to the jets or the
cardinals and he sits for half the season and he gets you know the the last six or seven weeks to
start when we get to that week 13 14 part of the year thank you jason and uh and it's gross in the
quarterback landscape and he gets those starts late in the year it's like i don't know that an
nfl team is going to give him a true fair shot to be their guy because these two franchises are going to be
and and you could throw the browns in there too like they're kind of all circling the waters of
2027 doesn't it feel like that to you guys so yeah in superflex leagues and rookie drafts you want to
throw a dart in the second yeah sure we've already talked about the class it's kind of weak when you
get to the second round i'm fine with that i'm just keeping my expectations in check with him
and i agree with you guys when kyle and i did our quarterback preview on the show i thought he had
some nice moments on tape i thought he had some good accuracy like in the middle of the field
which is an nfl trait but for fantasy like
that's more mid to back end quarterback two numbers and unless you're in a superflex league
it doesn't really help you out too much he yeah plenty of good throws outside the numbers
as well it's the what if with the 15 career starts the number that's 15 career starts like
that that infrequently turns into a true nfl starter that's he to me he feels like a player
and because every team needs a good quality backup quarterback and
ideally you want a backup quarterback who is getting better it's not necessarily just someone
who i can get a game or two it's well what if something breaks down on our quarterback one
plan i'd like to have someone in the wings that we maybe maybe we trust in them and they or they
grow in value and you get to dupe somebody and you trade your backup quarterback for
picks like these things do happen in the nfl so he feel ty simpson feels like a second rounder
who probably doesn't get a chance unless there's an injury in front of him yeah i think that's
fair but for fantasy purposes and we talked about this on the main show he's not thrilling and
exciting for fantasy purposes even if he is a successful nfl quarterback there are a lot of
guys in the nfl right now who have locked and loaded starting jobs who is like oh okay but
it's not who i want for faith i'm not looking to draft that player and plug them in my starting
lineup week after week and and in the end that is all that matters for us is is this a guy that
was going to score points and be in my starting lineup and i doubt that happens for ty simpson
um honestly like there's only two quarterbacks as prospects this year that look like they could be
potentially special for fantasy mendoza
well it's just talon green is also in that list but i did i was gonna bring up diego's
uh if you haven't seen it there was a a supremely millennial cut up of john gruden
doing his quarterback school with diego and it is it's insane it's unhinged unhinged is the perfect
word beautiful it is it is it's like a two-minute video and it's like i like diego a lot more than i
did before i watched that video as beautiful as it is disgusting yeah i mean it is just it's not
gonna work no um but i i will say that like that is i would rather i mean diego pavia might go
undrafted right he should be drafted i mean this is a the backup in the heisman voting oh man who
threw for 3 500 yards almost rushed for a thousand yards but for fantasy purposes he's a true dual
threat he's a he's like a kyler murray type he's a kyler murray size
as well yeah i mean doesn't i think he wishes murray size he's a little lighter he looks a
little shorter and so yeah he looks up to kyler so you that's why he's not going to have any kind
of investment from the nfl but it is a player that you should be aware of or have on some kind
of like you know depending on how deep your team your drafts go in your rookie drafts or if you're
in a super flex like if he got starts if he ends up being a super flex he's gonna be a super flex
a fourth round pick a fifth round pick and he goes to some team that either has no good quarterback
in front of him or the quarterback gets injured and he's thrust in to start he'll score fantasy
points yeah both diego and talon green if it looks like they have a chance to be the quarterback too
you will need to roster those talon green and diego pavia back to back would be would look
very different talon green six five and seven
don't forget about uh colt he's like the he's a true dual threat guy left-handed
out of north dakota state oh he's got to go to atlanta he's got to go to atlanta sit behind
pennix and into a uh but he's also a dual threat guy so yeah this is the part of like these guys
might get like three starts this year they're all gonna be in december when their teams are you know
two and twelve or whatever it is and it's the gross time of the year for the quarterback play
but it's like hey get in there and run for 50 yards on a touchdown in fantasy you know that
might work so just just
know the names running back the needy teams we got a lot of guys in the top 10 the titans at
four the giants are five washington's at seven the cincinnati bangles are at 10 and then out of
the jeremiah love uh contest will be the vikings and the seattle seahawks uh these teams do
washington doesn't have a second round pick so they will be if they're at seven and somehow
jeremiah loves jeremiah falls to them
that's a big decision that they will have to make say okay we're gonna we have a lot of needs on this
team including wide receiver do you is your is your uh assessment of of jeremiah love so strong
that you take him at seven and your next pick is not until 71 yeah like that needs that needs to
be part of the equation the part of why i believe washington might take love or if should he be
there is just the consensus on this draft is that jeremiah loves jeremiah loves jeremiah loves jeremiah
when you look at you know high level mock drafters they're like jeremiah love is either the first or
the second best player in the draft so he's definitely a sure bet like i promise every
nfl gm you could say oh it's a bad roster construction to spend the money because
when you when you draft at the seven or the four and you take a running back you're all
automatically making him one of the highest paid running backs in the league uh by the rookie
pay scale and that's just a stupid thing to do when you could draft a wide receiver who comes in
and is is better or you know an edge rusher who comes in and the value that you're paying him
makes more sense however if you draft a bust of an edge rusher or a bust of an offensive lineman
they are not more valuable correct than a hit of a running back and so that's where when you're a
general manager and you're like honestly it's the exact we talked about it um
on the last show i tend in the first round of fantasy football drafts i tend to take the safest
option because i think in the first round everyone's everyone's ceiling case they wouldn't
be in the first round if there wasn't a ceiling case for them to you know be the number one in
their in their um category but we know that there will be busts in every first round and so as an
nfl gm that could be what they could be thinking hey i just
My love's not going to come in the NFL.
and bust i can't envision that it would be pretty shocking uh and then second round picks the titans
are at 35 the giants are at 37 it's the seahawks man the seahawks at 32 not just 32 32 and 64
those are both high draft capital for a running back that basically the end of the first end of
the second round and they have the a good team a good offense they literally are coming off a
super bowl win and no running backs the ken bone is gone zach charbonnet is rehabbing from his acl
they need a running back they want to run the ball all day and so if they take a running back
at 32 or 64 which i think they will do i the the this last uh mock draft had jardians going 32
also known as jadarian price yeah they know like come on they know if you know you know uh but
you know i've seen a couple where jardians sneaks into the back of the first
round and goes to the seahawks whoever they take at 32 or 64 if they do and i think they will
i don't care who it is if it's emmett johnson i will believe if it's jonah coleman i will remove
my pants if it's you know mike how can you remove something that is a little bit you know
it's one of those things where it sometimes the destination and that's really what that's really
what today's episode is about and that's what i'm going to be talking about in the next episode
is about is like the landing spots more than the players themselves right that is the landing spot
where whoever they if they decide to go mike washington at 64 i mean i'll be just in because
that player comes in with an opportunity that most of these you know i'm not saying i would
flip this certainly not from a dynasty perspective over jeremiah love at all but jeremiah love
taking it the with the fourth pick and goes to the titans
i could see if jardians who i don't like goes to 32 to the seahawks i could see
him scoring more fantasy points this season possible so that that's the landing spot
destination i think that the the majority of fantasy football watchers they will be
all eyes on seattle bets let's envision a world where new york does the right thing and they
don't take jeremiah
love at five should he be there however then with their second round pick which is pick 37
also of note the giants don't have a third round pick as of now but so pick 37 they take
a you know an emmett johnson or a mike washington jr or jardians jardians could easily be there or
jardians and it's like because if jeremiah love goes the giants it's you know though we put cam
scadaboo on a boat we push him out to sea we light the arrow and we fire and we and oh we cry we'll be
so many tears like these this will be the wailing of like what happened to cam scadaboo i have to
believe that cam scadaboo cannot swim i just okay just personality test interesting like he can run
through walls he's a land animal he does seem like the body type that
when he gets in the steps and goes into the pool he stays connected he's like metal mario
absolutely he he he does not float just sinks straight to the bottom life jacket can walk
around life jacket can barely hold him up he's just sinking with a life jacket that's so accurate
that's so accurate so you know just run through this hypothetical let's say the giants took a
camp scadaboo out to sea or is it with the level of talent in our you know the are analyzing these
prospects or would you still leave an open mind that scadaboo might still be the guy i would still
even open mind because even though that is good draft capital for running back we've talked about
this class at 37 would be great it would be great yeah like these running backs are not that good
like most of them collectively obviously outside of jeremiah love and i don't know what it is about
it's been like the nfl seems to love him from nfl draft circles and all that maybe we're just
missing something but it's like we all agree like for fantasy doesn't he's not a super appealing
player to us because of his lack of pass catching but let's say he does go 37 it's like okay you
have to change your mind there a little bit i think they would give uh in this scenario
hypothetical price that the chance to run away with the job but like i i still think scadaboo
is good enough to to keep it or take it back from him so yeah that's a scary one
for sure but i i do think scadaboo in my opinion showed enough last year where it's like when this
guy is healthy why can't he be our guy um maybe we're just biased in that take but i thought he
was great last year and then we have a fun little nugget here you may have heard the phrase top 30
visits so the nfl has a certain amount each team has a certain amount of top 30 visits
and over the last decade if a team uses three or more of their top 30 visits on a running back
they have selected a running back in the first four rounds 80 of the time so we will uh you know
like over the next couple of weeks we'll we'll end up bringing up some of that data i'm sure
kyle might put 30 visits are still happening right now so we don't have the conclusion of that data
to make the assumptions yet but we will we will definitely i mean we're always gathering every
time we hear about a top 30 visit we're making it on a spreadsheet and making sure we are aware of
it and so not only is it a top 30 visit but it's a top 30 visit and it's a top 30 visit and it's a
not only is that number extremely higher for the first rounds you're saying if if a team uses three
or more top 30 visits on a running back you're talking 61 percent of the time it's a running
back draft in the first three rounds which uh first round you know you have day one you have
round two and you have day two for your draft capital all of which are good those are the first
three rounds i just i love that truth bomb because it really is the truth it's very you would never
second rounder a day two pick no never never and a third rounder they're a day two pick because it
sounds better man when jonah coleman goes in the third round oh baby he got day two day two let's go
wide receiver needy teams you start at the top with the raiders who they would have the first
chance they would have to look at that would be round two at pick 36 the jets the jets are
definitely at pick 16 the jets certainly seem like they're going to be the first round of the
like they will be able to take one uh probably one of the big three wide receivers there's a chance
that they end up going higher well yeah i mean i i think that the rams will have something to
say on this in the sense that uh a lot of mock drafts have the rams at 13 taking one of these
guys i personally think if mckay lemon gets there he fits their play style um very very well oh my
i know that wider receiver
no
it's it it's more of like the the the mentality and personality of puka and mckay lemon being on
the same team that's what i mean is going to be fire and fire what could go wrong yeah like oh
man don't let those guys be best friends but they're i mean there are you know cleveland is
obviously often mocked with a pick at six they're at six so that is there would probably be the
first wide receiver off the board they need an offensive lineman they need so much stuff so
i i figured let's put ourselves in the general manager's shoes all right you're the cleveland
browns you desperately need a stud offensive lineman and a stud wide receiver you you you just
like you're going in saying my goal is to get the best two pack of offensive lineman and wide
receiver in this draft obviously the big three
um wide receivers aren't going to get to 24 so you have to assume can i take maybe even the number
one offensive lineman in the draft at six if not probably the number two offensive lineman so
you're getting a top tier offensive lineman and you know casey concepcion or denzel boston or one
of those type of guys omar uh omar cooper jr would that be more enticing to you as a general
manager or would you rather have you know the the sixth offensive lineman and one of those three
wide receivers if you're the general manager not talking fantasy talking right to build your
franchise if i'm the general manager of the cleveland browns pick six and pick pick 24 are
going to be trench players so easy both it's so easy it like you know your team build the
offensive line yes thank you thank you betts it's so easy you want to win football that's where you
win and
like this isn't a uh i don't feel like we have you know the the the pene sewell versus jamar chase
no conversation but we don't we don't have jamar chase in this draft so that's not a unfortunately
we don't have pene sewell either like genuinely they're they're very uh mirrored like there's
really good ones but no super but i your team like unfortunately the cleveland browns keep
putting themselves in a position where they are just
the laughingstock, and we have to talk crap
about them all the time you're not close at as a team i am looking at 2027 to fix my quarterback
situation and i'm going to like if i can get two offensive linemen or you know just these i'm
gonna make the most boring picks this year it's where no one's just don't pay attention don't
worry about it and then next year when we draft our quarterback and they're like oh they really
really fix this part of their team and the quarterback can go in there and truly have some
some success that's how i would do it now to these wide receivers i've seen several uh several mocks
where they're letting jordan tyson fall to the end of the first round where i'm assuming that's
an injury concern for for these players which it's it's fair jordan tyson is a he's a very very good
prospect a strong prospect
and he's and he's a dog like he's going out there risking his body it is funny jordan tyson is so
polarizing people like us have him as our number one wide receiver in the draft class and others
are like i don't even think he's in the top this top three right i put him behind concepcion and
like daniel jeremiah's um i believe his top 50 yes jeremiah had him uh behind concepcion or behind
omar yeah i mean so he's a good prospect and he's a good prospect and he's a good prospect and he's a good
he was he was very low now the schrager mock that just came out jordan tyson was the first wide
receiver drafted oh i missed that at nine to the chiefs interesting oh yeah i mean this man this
oh man this this will be a fun draft i think his his workout will tell us a lot we talked about
that last week it's uh april 17th i don't know that he's going to get uh official like 40 testing
and stuff and we know that doesn't really translate for fantasy but like nfl teams kind of care about
i don't know that he's gonna do all that but he'll do positional drills i just feel like
if he can show teams i'm healthy i'm still that guy i think a lot of this in hindsight could look
silly of course nfl teams are investing millions of dollars so like i get why there's concern but
if he does get anything in the middle of the first round i'm still gonna be excited about
the draft capital for jordan tyson if he would go to nine to the chiefs good lord jason mentioned
pants off uh for joda coleman yeah so bring it bring back the bnme system let tyson be the new
so conflicted why is that i've got rushy rice in our main dynasty league and i'm like yeah i really
want good things for jordan tyson i want him to have a good landing spot and to be a successful
fantasy player because i think he's good and then it's like oh no rushy rice is he's he's fascinating
dynasty yes that he is a he has to be an incredible difficult decision for the kansas city chiefs
yes the most recent uh uh
accusations of some abuse stuff nfl they say they looked into it and they're saying they didn't find
anything substantial let's say that rice violated the personal conduct policy the he's in a contract
year this the chiefs have given money to guys that they know had off the field stuff i mean you
point to tyree kill who it seemed like every year there was at least one off season oh boy
i mean we we had a year where we thought tyree kill may never play football again and he was
still on the chiefs man but remember once once mahomes was paid they wouldn't give tyreek the
money and they shipped off prime tyreek who's way better than rushy rice well he had tyreek also said
he wanted to leave there there was that factored in i'm saying the what do the chiefs do with oh
betts is pointing out that the chiefs have met with carnell tate and mckay lemon dude if the
one of these guys at nine rushy rice is toast but i mean that like dina like i'm really is rishi right
he might be toast regardless rushy rice just came out and said he's looking for jsn money
and if you think kansas city's gonna pay him no jsn money no that's my point like you let him
through this no matter what i think you let him you've got the number nine pick right yeah
you could go in this year with mckay lemon and rushy rice or jordan tyson and rushy
rice have a great offense let him walk in free agency if not franchise him um and and you have
his replacement if rushy rice walks and goes in free agency and signs a big bada boom contract
for someone else first of all giving the kansas city rounder probably yeah the the compensation
for losing him rushy rice's dynasty value on another team that isn't using his gadgety
style with mahomes on the little slant over and over and over that works he is not the type that
will just dominate anywhere and everywhere he's not justin jefferson where you put him on any team
and he's great i need to put rushy rice on my trading block oh god i don't i don't know what
you do with him with the news of like we were just making our our in-season projections um
our early rankings for redraft we were doing that today right rushy rushy rice is in my top
six like wow it makes sense he is dominant when he's on the field with mahomes man that's that is
scary maybe this news of like hey there's gonna be no um suspension he's young maybe before the
draft maybe i don't know what to do also pick 29th which is like prime concepcion that's the
second tier denzel boston yeah whatever tier i i don't think that that
the thing is is if they take someone at nine that's if they take one of the big three
that feels like a replacement plan yep okay as opposed to taking someone with their second
feels like they might have to pay rushy rice so the the teams real quick just run through it that
we're really looking at wide receivers going raiders jets giants cleveland washington the
saints at eight they are in play for sure for one of these big three the dolphins
and then the the baltimore ravens who are just forever in perpetuity on this list of they are
looking for a wide receiver oh they got rid of all their wide receivers they i mean they
they have no wide receiver they struggle to get that right didn't they just sign
last year to another extension yes like bateman's been on this team forever and he just keeps
getting more and more money for him and there's more there's always off season
this is the year this is this is the year that rashad bateman pays off as a first rounder
i think zay flowers is a hit to me he paid off but it's like you still need you'll still need
other situations all right we're gonna uh oh i'll give you so the top 30 if a team uses three or more
top 30 visits on a wide receiver in the first three rounds 53 of the time that team drafts
a wide receiver in the first three rounds four or more top 30 visits that jumps to 63
five or more it kind of caps out at 65 i think if you're doing five or more
you're taking you're trying to figure out you're taking one how to solve a problem
and so we're we're still waiting on the top 30 visits but we know that the cleveland browns
have already used six at least wow okay the browns have used they've done six top 30s already okay
hmm
well who who will jump on the grenade i mean that for the cleveland browns that says that they are
i mean to me what that says is they are trying to figure out whether to take it with their first
pick or their second yeah they're they're they're looking at those type of guys and saying okay
what's the gap what is we could take cornell tate at six or bring in omar bring in concepcion bring
in boston guys that you think you know what's the gap between them and the cleveland browns
will be there at 24 at least one of those guys and judge the gap the titans are already at three
top 30 visits the eagles are already at three top 30 visits well yeah they're getting rid of aj
aj brown sure seems like the smoke is getting thicker and the san francisco 49ers are at three
already which all all those things make a ton of sense yeah all right we're going to talk tight
ends in a second but we've got a quick break
tight end needy teams we got the dolphins picking 11 and 30 and then 43 and then a man they got
four third rounders good for them yeah i saw a stat that they're the first team uh with seven
picks inside but like the top 100 the top three rounds and there's only been one other team that
had that and that was the most important thing to me and that was the most important thing to me
the most depressing thing i'd ever heard because the other team that had seven picks in the top
three rounds was the 2024 arizona cardinals it's like oh so it doesn't always work it doesn't fix
your team because the cardinals are picking third two years later if your gm should not be a gm then
yeah you're gonna waste your picks the bucks are picking at 15 and 46 then 77 the panthers are at
51 and 83
and then the Eagles
23
53
54 and they have two third rounders we've we've mentioned our kenyan sadiq opinions where we're
just we are a bit concerned with the hype machine that is growing eli stowers the stowers of powers
jason you whispered something i don't know if you're willing to say it on this show yeah i i
think stowers is the better fantasy tight end over now did you see his little uh news i did and this
is funny because i've been saying this for a while that you need to consider like right now
we're talking about tight end needy teams and when i look at stowers i include him 100 in wide
receiver needy teams and so news came out that some teams are basically viewing stowers amongst
the wide receivers brother because he was he was a slot
wide he was a slot tight end in college he is a route running catch the ball tight end he is a
he is not this guy that's going to be george kittle and road grading as a blocker um you know
and unfortunately a lot of times when there are those type of players that aren't it's more the
evan ingram like evan ingram came in as basically a receiving tight end not the road grading power
and and evan ingram has been good
for fantasy everything was rookie year for a rookie tight end was fantastic it just it never
it didn't elevate after that he's had plenty of impactful seasons um but also never
really made the the difference so he was i mean three years ago evan ingram was the titan two
the jags here yes um he's been the titan six rookie year was a titan five again he's he's
he's the guy that just was you know so important for fantasy football but i i worry like that's
kind of the it feels like that's almost worst case is evan ingram which if that's worst case
that's pretty darn good right uh but when you look at some of these other teams i i i i think
of like the saints the saints need another pass catcher so much and so if they they're sitting
there at eight if carnal tate's there i think we'll take him carnal tate's not there but if
they're sitting there i wonder if maybe they look in the second round i don't know if stowers gets
them in the second round but if stowers in the second round i think they're picking like 43 or
something nfl mock draft database has stowers as as like going as the round number 55 overall
nice i don't have my drive i've got it hit me good does it work all right it sure does josh
um but uh yeah so so if stowers is there at 43 i mean
and they're looking at at that point they're saying okay i mean for the dolphins no for the
dolphins are at 43 oh what are the saints picking there's they're picking right around there for uh
their second pick 42 i apologize um way way off don't know anything uh what an idiot uh but if if
they're sitting there at 42 and they've got stowers there or they've got like malachi fields you know
zachariah branch antonio williams like stowers is right maybe they just stowers is the pass catcher
forget position he's the pass catcher you would want it's kind of similar in my opinion it's kind
of similar to like a couple years ago when the bills took don kinkade they were very in on wide
receiver but it got to a point in the draft where there like wasn't a caliber pass catcher that they
loved they were like hey we'll take don kinkade and kind of make him this hybrid role and like
i could see a similar type of situation with eli stowers the that that that phrase of that teams
are evaluating stowers as almost as a wide receiver should be extremely exciting because
he will be drafted as a tight end and the nfl just i mean it's funny if it's the saints
of go back to the jimmy graham debacle of jimmy graham is labeled as
a tight end and then because of how the business of the nfl works when you franchise the tight end
it does not cost nearly as much as franchising a wide receiver even though jimmy graham had a had
a rock solid argument of no i don't play tight end i play wide receiver for you you're the ones
who call me a tight end i'm calling myself a wide receiver so the saints know how much money they
can save doing that move and so that would mean like i'm saying that as stowers will not i don't
know that they'll give him a positional change like they'll just call him a tight end but maybe
they're playing him more as a wide receiver and then you get to play him in the tight end sponsor
so uh that's that's a pretty exciting we're very very far away from that coming to fruition but
that's that's an exciting thing um you know the mock draft database it'll be like max claire is
next oscar delp after that i mean i don't know what they're doing my boy michael trigg down here
is the what's his name i don't know what they're doing my boy michael trigg down here is the what's
tight end seven respect the dog he's got a dog in him but i don't know that he shouldn't be here i
think that's fine yeah that's fine george kiddo was like a fifth round pick was he disrespect the
dog i i like a lot of the cage you don't want to see him hit that 40 his arms that vertical freak
you don't want to see that i even it's dude his wingspan is incredible it's oliver miller this
is not the body shape but the arms i can't watch him he freaks me out his hands and his arms he's
awesome are not made for his body size they're they're like a seven foot five man's arms the
doll assembly yes the doll assembly they got the wrong arms on the exhale arms yeah it doesn't
i bats do you have anything else that you want to add in on the uh for the tight end teams the
needy teams again dolphins bucks panthers eagles do you have do you have any wishes you're you're
an eagles guy do you wish for any of these tight ends or you're just like yeah i'm not in love with
any of them um i will say the the bucks are interesting because they just re-signed kate
otten and the i forget i don't know the exact quote but like the gm came out after the fact and
it was like the funniest like way to describe the signing he was like
you know he's not incredible at everything but like he does everything and he's good at everything
i was like man don't you want to come out and like hype your players up but basically it was like
we like that he's reliable and then you look at their top 30s and stuff and they're visiting with
guys like max claire oscar delp who are projected day two maybe day three guys and i think it's
really interesting like in the betting world his uh sadiq's line is 15 and a half the bucks pick 15
so to me when i see these signals i'm like i i tend to think famous last words because who knows
probably are not a sadiq team and maybe go with one of these kind of ancillary teams but outside
of that no strong takes i do love looking at the exact over under on the picks on these players
like for instance loves is 4.5 and it's because the titans are he is currently the odds on favor
for pick four and so that when you see that line what they're saying is do you believe
the titans are going to take them right that's what the bet is at 4.5 all right that is going

Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The podcast explores potential landing spots for draft picks, emphasizing how team needs and player performance impact fantasy decisions.
A.J. Brown is seen as a high-risk, high-reward trade target for contenders due to his age and recent underperformance, though his long-term value remains strong.
Brian Thomas Jr. and Garrett Wilson are considered undervalued low-risk options for acquisition, especially in dynasty leagues where market sentiment is at a low point.
Quarterback prospects like Ty Simpson and Diego Pavia are viewed as second-round or later picks, with limited fantasy appeal due to lack of consistency or early impact.
The landing spot matters as much as the player—teams like the Titans, Chiefs, and Seahawks have specific needs where draft capital and situational value shift outcomes.
Teams with multiple top-30 visits on a single position (like the Browns and Eagles) are likely prioritizing depth, indicating a strategic push for specific types of players.
Tight ends like Eli Stowers are being reevaluated as potential wide receiver-like athletes, creating value through hybrid roles and strategic drafting.
The Browns' draft strategy is highlighted as a cautionary tale, showing how overinvestment in one position can signal misaligned priorities despite strong need.
Summary:
The podcast delves into the evolving landscape of fantasy football draft strategy, focusing on how landing spots and player value intersect. J. , and Garrett Wilson, identifying them as potential trade targets or undervalued picks.
They emphasize that player performance and team needs are equally important—especially in dynasty leagues where long-term value and market sentiment matter. Quarterback prospects like Ty Simpson and Diego Pavia are viewed as second-round or later picks due to limited fantasy upside, while running back and wide receiver needs are tied to specific team dynamics. , the Browns’ multiple high-value visits) shape outcomes.
A key insight is that landing spots—such as the Titans’ need for a running back at 32 or the Chiefs’ potential for a hybrid tight end—can significantly alter a player’s fantasy value. The hosts conclude by reinforcing the importance of situational awareness, noting that even strong prospects may not translate to fantasy success without the right context. com as a resource for rankings, mock drafts, and trade targets, ensuring fans stay informed through the draft and beyond.
FAQs
Landing spots are influenced by team needs, offensive systems, and player fit. For example, a team with a struggling offense might value a dual-threat quarterback, while a team needing a pass-catcher might target a wide receiver with high fantasy value despite a down year.
A.J. Brown is seen as a high-risk, high-reward player due to his age (29) and performance drop. Contenders may trade him for draft capital, believing he could rebound or be acquired by a team with a strong quarterback like New England's Drake May, where he could thrive.
Teams that use three or more top 30 visits on a single position—like running back or wide receiver—have a high probability of drafting that player in the first three rounds. This data helps predict landing spots and value in the draft.
Despite a poor sophomore season, Thomas Jr. has shown consistent production as a rookie with 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns. His value is currently low, making him an attractive trade target for teams seeking value in a down year.
Garrett Wilson had a strong start to the season with 1300 yards in five weeks, showing he can produce in the NFL. His value may remain high, especially with a new quarterback, making him a key player to monitor in draft and trade strategies.
Jeremiah Love is considered a top-tier running back with high contract value and significant draft capital. Teams may prioritize him over other picks if they need a reliable workload, though his lack of pass-catching limits fantasy upside.
