Hello my love! I hope you had an amazing week and are just enjoying your day so far. Welcome to the busy yet pretty podcast. If you're new, we talk all about self-love, self-care, and ultimately how to become the best version of you. This is a recap of one of my favorite episodes that I want to share with you guys and it's something that I just preach so much and so often and I just think it's very important to relax, take a listen, or if you're on the go, take a listen. However you like, get your matcha, get your coffee, and enjoy. I am going to be back to regular posting schedule of new episodes soon. Hold out, don't worry, I will be back but for now while I'm just working on my medical flare, I just am taking it slow but we're gonna be back to schedule soon. But anyways, I hope you enjoyed this episode and I hope you have the most busy yet pretty day. Now without further ado, it is time to get into today's episode. Today we are talking about self-love spooky season. Honestly, overall the perfect spooky season inspo for you. Halloween costumes, movie nights, and romanticizing the season. Reminder, there is no better time to tap into the spooky side of fall or even fall in general if you haven't yet already than now. This year there is no last-minute costume planning of course. We are gonna be prepared and be able to be present to just enjoy the season stress-free and lean into the spooky side of fall. In the previous few episodes, as you may know, you and I chatted all about fall routines, solo dates, and autonomous inspo. But today we're gonna lean more into the spooky side in Halloween season and of course the perfect ways you can romanticize the season. Let's begin by talking about our home and our room because it is so important to shape your environment to the season because that's where you're spending the most time. Even if you are a teacher and spend the most time in a classroom, it's important you take that extra step to decorate very fall and Halloween to tap into the spirit. But let's start with our home or room to just be perfect for the season. So you need to start off by running to home goods or home sense or your favorite home decor store and grab yourself some fake cobwebs to just spooken up your home spooken. Is that a word? But also find yourself a perfect fall apple candle and a ghost mug. Anything that leans into the Halloween spirit and of course get a few pumpkins. It is not a fall or Halloween home without pumpkins. One of my favorite ways to tap into any season that you can easily do, it just is the perfect simple way to tap into the spooky spirit is change your phone wallpaper. Get a cute wallpaper off of Pinterest and change your wallpaper. It just sets the tone and sets the mood free of charge. So it is so perfect and easy to do. And of course, while you're at it on Pinterest, make yourself a spooky Halloween Pinterest board. Even if you don't have a necessarily goal of something that you're trying to find on Pinterest, making a board like that is the perfect way to get yourself inspired and works as the perfect mood board. But enough about decorating your home. Let's talk about the perfect way that you can plan a spooky Halloween fall night that you can have with both your friends, your husband or your boyfriend, or just yourself. And remember, if you decide to have this night with just yourself, remember to put the same amount of effort as you would doing it with someone else. Like I always say, it's easy to take the easy road and just not put as much effort or not be as much into dedicating the same amount of time or fun or even being present when you're doing something for just yourself. But that is so important. You do put as much effort as you would with others because your relationship with yourself is the most important relationship. Okay, I'm done with my little tangent back to Halloween. It is time you plan your spooky self care night. So start with ordering your favorite food. There is no shame in ordering in, so go treat yourself and pick up your favorite food and desserts to enjoy tonight. Once you have your favorite food, of course, set the tone in your home and play some nice spooky fall music. If you don't have a fall playlist already, go make one right now. It's the perfect thing to just flip on any time of the day during the season and just really taps you into the fall spirit. Once you're done eating, kick the night off with a pumpkin painting or pumpkin carving. There is truly no better fall activity than pumpkin painting or pumpkin carving or you can do both. I usually prefer pumpkin carving, but this year I'm going to actually do pumpkin painting. So if you're someone who likes your pumpkins inside of your house or your room, do pumpkin painting instead of carving. So it actually lasts because you know, pumpkins can't really last inside your home being carved. So just painting a pumpkin is a perfect way to have it last all season and is so cute and fun. I just got out all my paint the other day and I'm going to paint a pumpkin probably tonight. You can put some cute bows on it, little white ghosts. You can add ribbons on the pumpkin, whatever floats your bow or as I should say, whatever spices your pumpkin spice. And if you are not a pumpkin carving or pumpkin painting girl, build a haunted house. And I don't mean a real haunted house. I mean a gingerbread one. If you have a Trader Joe's near you, they have the haunted houses where you can get them and build them and decorate them. They are just the perfect way to get into the Halloween spirit. I think I just discovered my new favorite thing in my routine and that's taking my AG1. I feel like everyone's heard of AG1. It is not something new, we've heard of it, but have you tried it is the question. I love simplicity in my wellness routine. Don't get me wrong, I love a 20-step wellness routine and I do have that, but at the same time I do love things that are simple for me to just incorporate that's easy throughout the day. And I found something that I look forward to every day that replaces the need for a multivitamin, probiotics, and more. And that is my AG1. After I have my morning walk and do my physical therapy, I have just been loving looking forward to having my AG1. I love the citrus one, it's so good. And I just feel so healthy and happy knowing that I'm getting all these nutrients that early in the morning. Trust me, if I love this, I know you will too. So head to drinkag1.com/pretty to get a free welcome kit, including a bottle of vitamin D and free AG1 travel packs when you first subscribe. That's drinkag1.com/pretty. But after your little pumpkin party, it is time for you to have a little break for dessert. But first, put on a face mask. I know you have some of your favorite products that are sitting in your drawers right now, that are your favorite, so you're trying to cherish them and not overuse them. So it lasts forever, but this is your reminder to actually use things before they get old, because here's the thing. Things are going to come back to you. Your products, money, everything will come back to you, but time won't. So use your favorite things now and take them out for those fall moments. Enjoy them. They don't even need to be a special day when you use your favorite face mask, because every day you're alive is a special day. I keep getting off on a tangent, but I just want you guys to really remember that. Anyways, you have your face mask on and getting your dessert. Whether you're getting your dessert from the freezer or baking cute ghost cookies, pumpkin bread, or making s'mores, go get your dessert and put on a Halloween movie. If you are someone who loves scary movies, opt for a scary Halloween classic like Scream, Poltergeist, A Nightmare on Elm Street, or a true crime documentary, but if you are not a fan of scary things, I would recommend watching Halloween Town or Arles Steins Haunting Hour, Spookily the Square Pumpkin, just a cozy quote "scary fall classic". Another show that you could watch this Halloween is Monsters on Netflix. It's on the Menendez Brothers case, but a little disclaimer, I do not agree with how the show was written because I feel like it does not portray the case well whatsoever, but that is a little show that you can watch as well for the season. And if you really just do not care about Halloween movies or shows, I really recommend you just watching any fall show or movie. A personal favorite for me is Autumn in New York. That truly is just the sweetest, cutest fall love story, so I really recommend you watching that. But let's get into talking about Halloween costumes because we are coming prepared this year and I'm here to give you all the best ideas on what you can be this Halloween and also a little side note, I believe there is no age limit to trick-or-treating. I am almost 22 years old and I still trick-or-treat with my little nephew and cousins because when I walk them up to that door that they're scared of, and when we get to the door and the person offers me candy, my bag is ready. And I would happily give Halloween candy to any adult because everyone deserves a little sweet treat. But let's not get sidetracked. Let's get to business. Halloween costume ideas, rapid fire and spoe. So Victoria Secret Angel, perfect for the show because it is coming back. I think this fall, another one, Carrie Bradshaw or Charlotte York, perfect sex in the city, themed costume, another recommendation which I was last year which is Barbie. And of course you can never go wrong with a Paris Hilton simple-life costume. Blair Waldorf, never watch the show. I know, please don't come at me. Everyone recommends I should be her for Halloween but I still have not watched the show. Another one is Elle Woods. Classic is Princess Diary, The Girl from Scream. Another really cute one is a ballerina, Cruella or you can be Sabrina Carpenter from her short and sweet tour which I think her costumes were so cute and her hair, it is a perfect classic to have for a Halloween costume. Audrey Hepburn, which I was at breakfast at Tiffany's. I think two years ago, another good one is Dorothy. And this is a really random one but if you ever have a favorite drink or something you're obsessed with such as like a food item or a drink, it can be like matcha or coffee, you can dress up as your favorite snack or as your favorite drink. One year I dressed up as Boba because I loved Boba when I was younger. So I had made myself, I DIY'd myself a little Boba dress and a straw as a headband. It was honestly the perfect Boba costume. I saw someone was once a sweet green bag because their favorite food was sweet green so they wore the sweet green bag and I thought that was the cutest thing ever. Now for a few ways that you can romanticize your Halloween and the spooky season. Let's get into talking about that because that is very important. Number one, attend a local Harvest Fest. I know this can sound boring but remember we're used to our city and our town because most often we live there our entire life. So you feel like you already know everything and you don't need to go to anything. But if someone were to come to your town, everything is new and everything is beautiful. They would think that Harvest Fest is so cool and they would want to go to it. So you have to pull yourself out of what you feel is familiar and try to find the beauty and things that you haven't seen before. Another thing is the pumpkin patch. Go on a hay ride, do one of the corn mazes, go pet the baby goats. Another fave is haunted houses with your friends. There is seriously no better way to get into the fall spirit than going through haunted houses or or going to a Halloween amusement park. Another one, which I don't know if I should be recommending this but it's a Ouija board. I've never played it before but I have had a really scary experience relating to one. Let me know if you ever want the story on it and I will share it. Another thing that you could do which is really fun is throw a Halloween cookie party or a Halloween costume party. It's the perfect way to gather a few fun friends and altogether just tap into the fall spirit. Another classic is big a pumpkin pie or big cinnamon rolls. It truly feels like Halloween when you do those little baking activities. Of course, to get a spooky feeling in your home or your room, get some nice cozy candles to always have lit. It will just spooken, my favorite word now, spooken up your home and just have those dim lights and feel very autonomous. Lastly, read a fall or spooky book. There are so many great fall and spooky books out there that will fully just emerge you into the season. So I really recommend you just have a Halloween book on hand to always pull out throughout this month but I want you to remember that it is fall and Halloween spirit right now. It is not going to be in two months from now or a while from now. So use the seasons wisely and be present. You don't have to be doing every single fall activity or every single Halloween activity but do what you can to emerge yourself into the fall spirit and things don't have to be perfect. If you don't have money to buy home decor to decorate your home into Halloween, you don't have to. It doesn't matter. You can still emerge yourself into the spirit and the season other ways by going on Pinterest, looking at inspo. So take this time today right now to get yourself prepared and ready for the spooky season and most of all being present.
