Rethinking Society: AI, Democracy, and the Search for Truth with Mohamed Nabil.

Today we examine in how AI, critical thinking and civic responsibility could receive the future of society. Today's guest is Mohammed Nabil, author, social innovator and creator of EDOP, a framework that uses artificial intelligence to open the challenge and create published work is also the creator of the concept of enlightening, populizing and encouraging people to think independently rather than blindly following opinions or trends. Mohammed, welcome to Freedom of Log. It's great to turn you here so thank you for the introduction. All right you're welcome, yes so, Mohammed before we dive straight into what we have for you today, can you tell my audience just a little bit about yourself? I'm an author and an independent philosopher, I, with three main pillars. I have ADOP or AIDP which stands for AI debates amongst publications. I have enlightened populism which is a behavior pattern of communication and I'm advocating for the establishment of a global government to be ruled by hyper local citizen assemblies. So these are the three aspects of main aspects of my philosophy and all of my books revolve around these ideas. All right thank you so much, Mohammed thank you very much for that wonderful introduction of yourself. So, Mohammed, what actually inspired you to create the ADOP and what problem were you trying to solve through it? Okay so let's define it properly, properly first for the audience, AIDP which stands for AI debates amongst publications involves a content creator prompting an AI tool to criticize their own content and publishing the entire analysis transcript of back and forth argumentation within 24 hours of the exchange. So, what inspired me, at the beginning I was thinking that ideas and books are typically dead if they are not debated and discussed. So I wanted to make sure that my own ideas and books are debated and discussed openly and publicly. So, I started getting into intensive debates with AI tools and publishing the entire content online and then I started realizing the revolutionary potential of ADOP or AIDP within publishing education, policy making, humanities and social sciences. It's a method of radical transparency and intellectual humility, it's about maintaining human sovereignty in the age of AI. Sorry, thank you so much, that was a beautiful one, Mohammed. How can AI become a tool for improving critical thinking rather than simply providing answers? It depends on how you prompt AI, we need to intentionally get into debates with AI tools, we need to tell the tool that it's like it to take an opposition opposing to yours, tell it to your position and then ask it to take a position opposing to yours and then it will do it, it's best to expose any logical fallacies that you might have or any weak spots that you didn't notice. And this way you can create a beneficial exchange instead of confirmation bias. So you actually distinguish between the blind, elixir and ignorant populism and the enlightened populism, right, so can you explain this concept and why it mattered today? Enlightened populism is a behavioural pattern of communication that involves listening to multiple experts trying to understand how they reached certain conclusions and investigating the information to discern the truth, it contrasts with the two dominant behavioural patterns of communication in today's world, blind elitism, which entails blindly following an expert or an elite on a certain issue, and ignorant populism which also involves the absence of investigation while relying on feelings or trends. So enlightened populism is about investigating for the truth, it's about it's a truth seeking behavioural pattern of communication, it's about critical thinking and unfortunately it's not the dominant behavioural pattern of communication in today's world, the dominant ones are blind elitism, you can see that lots of people just start adopting a certain position or start believing in certain idea just because a member of the elite promoted for it. And on the other hand, you can see ignorant populists people relying on feelings or trends, online trends or offline trends even to form their own opinions without any sort of investigation. So enlightened populism is actually the cure, it's a behavioural pattern of communication that involves listening to multiple experts trying to understand how they reached certain conclusions and investigating the information to scan the truth. Thank you, thank you so much. So moment in a world that is overwhelmed by information and how can ordinary people become more discerning and better at finding the truth? Okay, so there is an economic aspect, the question enabling enlightened populism and that's mainly covered in my books, that minds free and humanity's money. It's about the economic aspect, aspect is about sharing the benefits of technology instead of massive layoffs that may occur because of technological breakthroughs, including AI advancements. We can have a severe reduction in working hours, allowing people to have the time and energy, to practice enlightened populism across fields. And then there are sociological aspects and these are covered in my book Truth is Sexy. These involve all agents of socialisation including media, so let's take media for example, the traditional media organisations offer polarization of the surface while remaining united in terms of agenda setting imposed by their corporate or state masters. We need to normalise long form debates across fields, not only politics, this will further enable enlightened populism as people will be able to follow experts reasoning across topics. Social media relies on personalisation showing each person content based on their historical interactions within the platform. This ultimately creates a situation in which a person's use of social media is an endless state of voice confirmation even if the person doesn't suffer from confirmation bias. So what do you think about making a shift from a push agenda, to a pull agenda from social media to rely more on all al-Ams and search engines, what do you think about that? Alright, yeah, well I think it's actually not a bad idea and it's actually an ex-concert anyway. Okay, so even when we move from push agenda to a pull agenda, even search engines and al-Ams can turn into echo chambers if not used wisely as they both rely on historical data of interactions using private incognito mode occasionally while submitting multiple queries through multiple search engines and digging deep for multiple sources is advisable. Same goes for al-Ams, with the additional feature of intentionally getting into a debate with al-Ams by prompting it to take a position opposing to yours. Alright, I would thank you so much, Mohammed, so I'd like to add this question, right? You've advocated for, you know, greater transparency in publishing and details. how could add up transform the way knowledge is created and should. For the world government? Yes, I said for some more translators in publishing and education. Yes, within the scope of publishing, it's about radical transparency and enabling enlightened populism. You're actually inviting people to follow the reasoning behind your conclusions instead of asking them to accept your conclusions blindly. So this is the main power of aid up or AI DUP, which stands for AI debates on one's publications. Within education, we need to tackle the current panic in education because of LLMs. Anything assigned to students can be done via AI tools. And this issue will continue to grow over time as these tools become smarter. Tutors can solve this problem by requiring students to submit an aid up. AI DUP dates on one's publications session at the end of each assignment and hand in debates with other students on their findings. The catastrophic idea that students get LLMs to do work on their behalf then teaches let LLMs mark the submitted content on their behalf means that oversight is needed within all levels of the educational system. So why do you believe direct democracy deserves more serious consideration? Because I believe we need to take matters into our own hands as regular citizens. We don't need the representative democracies represent of democracies didn't. Didn't get us anywhere represent of democracy failed at solving the main issues we are facing today, which are recurring pandemics. Climate change and billionaire greed, the massive world cups, when you have hundreds of millions of people living below the poverty line and living within extreme poverty around the world. This means that the current system is a complete failure and it must be changed. The idea that we can take matters into our own hands as regular systems is primarily based on popular spreading enlightened populism is a prerequisite for the establishment of the global government to this citizen assemblies. Sorry, thank you. Many of your ideas, you know, challenge traditional political systems. I believe we need to take matters into our own hands as regular citizens on the planet. Direct democracy is the only way out of the current problem. We have relied on representatives of democracies for long years and they haven't solved the world's biggest issues. Billionaires agreed or wealth inequality, climate change and potentially recurring pandemics. These require us to move toward global cooperation and they require us to move toward the citizen assemblies and direct democratic participation instead of relying on representatives. And that's mainly because these representatives are influenced by other people and they are typically bought by billionaires around the world. They don't get they don't act based on our interests, they act based on their own interests. So we need to take matters in our own hands as regular people and vote on each issue. Thank you so much. So you have actually proposed the ideas of the global government. What challenges do you believe this could solve and what concerns do you acknowledge people may have? Well, at the beginning, some people may think the idea is a little weird or out of the box. At the beginning there might be some resistance here and there. And some people may think it's in applicable and stuff like that, but I've tried to talk with the different groups of people and then we reached, we almost most of the time we reached the conclusion that this is applicable and it's necessary and highly needed. So the main challenge now is spreading the message that we need a single global government. We need to end wars all over the world. We need to save the trillions of dollars that we have been spending on weapons to redirect them toward introducing basic human rights such as shelter access to clean water and food, education, healthcare, freedom of expression, freedom of movement and basic stable, stable speed internet connections. So when we talk about a global government, people may think the idea is still new and they may get surprised at the scale of it. But then you'll have to talk with them about it and spread the message, spread raise awareness at this point so that future generations can make this happen. Thank you so much. So you, mom, you argue that the access to education, healthcare, clean water, internet and freedom of expression, you know, should be universal human rights. So what are these foundational, why are these foundational for human progress? Well, shelter access to clean water and food, education and healthcare are typically essential for any size of function properly. Shelter people need somewhere to sleep and people need access to clean water and food they need to get nutrition and as for education, they need proper education and healthcare proper healthcare. So they can feel safe and at the same time they can, education opens up your mind and enables you to follow the reasoning and education is done properly for the reasoning behind experts conclusions and as for the internet connections, the internet allows us to dig deeper into issues. You can probably ask people to be enlightened populists or to solve problems of the 21st century using tools of the 19th century. You have to enable them to use the tools of the day to solve the issues of today. Thank you so much for that beautiful answer. So your book covers, you know, hell of a lot from philosophy, justice, economics and society. So what central message connects all of your work? The pursuit of justice is the central main threat and it's it's mainly about the three core ideas that don't do about AI debates on ones publications enlightened populism as a behavior pattern of communication and establishing a whole government with equal rights for all to be ruled by hyperlocuses and assemblies. As AI, you know, continues to evolve, what opportunities and risks to humanity, you know, humanity be paying the most attention to it? Well, we need we need to work on ourselves to be at least as smart, if not smarter than the tools we're using. We need to out more out smarter the tools between our hands. This is basically what we need to worry about. We need to reclaim our critical thinking and maintain humans of unity within the age of AI by applying by applying weights on ones publications or alternatively anyone can get into debates with AI tools without publishing the content if they are not a content creator. And we have to elevate our own reasoning. So that we can maintain so humans of unity in the age of AI. So yeah, how can my audience, you know, get access to some of these things that you do?
