BBC News with Sumant Gammery. More than 50 children are now reported to have been abducted in North East Nigeria in attacks on three schools on Friday. Most of them are between two and five years old and were taken from nursery schools in the Musa area of Borno State. Krasavalka reports from Legos. Musa community is now in mourning. With traumatized parents desperately waiting for information about their children. Some residents have begun fleeing the area. There has been no contact from the kidnappers and no group has claimed responsibility. A teacher said gunfire rang out before armed men, stormed classrooms abducting their children. Witnesses say their attackers arrived on motorcycles shortly after troops left. The security forces gave chase but could not fire as the children were used as shields. The Nigerian military has hailed what it called a landmark joint counter-terrorism operation with the United States. The killed senior Islamic State commander Abu Bilal Al-Manuqi in the Lake Chad Basin. Daniel Boala, a special adviser to President Tanubu, told the BBC how the killing will affect the group. It would diminish their capacity together. It would demobilize them. It would probably also stop the funding because those who finance terrorism do so to individuals or terrorist organisations they believe can carry out. Hamas and the Israeli military have confirmed that the head of the group's armed wing, Ezzadine Al-Hadad was killed in an Israeli attack late on Friday in Gaza City. Al-Hadad had been the deep thakto leader of Hamas since last year and was the last surviving member of the group's senior leadership that planned the October 7th attacks in Israel in 2023. The Israeli military has begun a new wave of air strikes and what it says are "hespilar sites in southern Lebanon" after ordering residents in a number of towns to evacuate. The latest attacks come a day after a nominal ceasefire in Lebanon was extended for another 45 days at a meeting between Israeli and Lebanese representatives in Washington. The BBC's Rami Rohiam has this assessment. The new thing here is the language used by the Lebanese negotiators in Washington. They actually framed this as a win for Lebanon. Previously they were trying to call on the US to get Israel to at least stop the systematic demolition of homes in areas of the South and also the attacks on paramedics and civilians. And now we also know that there's going to be in addition to the political track, the direct negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, a so-called security track which the Americans are saying will involve talks between the militaries of the two sides. World News from the BBC. At least eight people have been killed and 15 injured in a collision between a freight train and a bus in the Thai capital Bangkok. The accident happened near Mucca Sun Station and caused the bus to burst into flames which engulfed several other vehicles. Firefighters managed to contain the blaze while rescue teams worked to pull victims from the wreckage.
