Reddit's Most Disturbing Relationship True Crimes

A Reddit user shares a deeply disturbing story about a husband whose wife engaged in prolonged, calculated online harassment of an ex-best friend. The wife created fake LinkedIn profiles, sent malicious and false messages, falsely accused the woman of drug use and infidelity, and manipulated her husband into sending a threat to her husband, who was unaware of the full extent. The harassment escalated to a baby shower infiltration, where the wife spread rumors and created a false narrative of betrayal. The victim, who was already pregnant, suffered severe emotional distress, and the relationship ended when she sued the wife for malicious conduct. The husband reveals his wife has no remorse, blaming her actions on jealousy and insecurity from a past friendship, and admits she has no empathy for others. While the wife was sentenced to community service instead of jail, the story highlights the severe emotional and psychological damage of such behavior. The husband reflects on the need for therapy, but his wife resists, showing no signs of regret. The case underscores how obsessive, manipulative behavior—especially when fueled by jealousy—can devastate lives, and how victims may need legal, emotional, and psychological support. The broader takeaway is that such actions are not just unethical but potentially criminal, and that trust in long-term relationships can be dangerously fragile when one partner engages in covert, harmful manipulation.

Hi everyone, it's Vanessa Richardson. Real quick before today's episode, I want to tell you about a show I host with forensics psychologist Dr. Tristan Engels. It's called "Serial Killers and Murderous Minds". Every Monday and Thursday, we take you deep into the psychology of the most chilling murderers and uncover what drives them to kill. Those serial killers and murderous minds available were ever listened to podcasts. This friend told me that my partner had been collecting slugs from the garden on the fruit that he has been putting out there, and then putting these slugs in my food. Blending them up, he even sent this friend who was telling me this, pictures of a bag of slugs he had collected, and a picture of those slugs then blended. Welcome back to Crimes of Reddit. I'm Sabrina Deanna Roga. I'm Alexis Linkletter, and every week we're going down reddit's deepest rabbit holes to uncover the most disturbing and bizarre stories posted by the people who actually lived them. And I'm so excited. For today's topic, because I've three reddit stories all about shocking discoveries of Crimes committed by partners, which was a dangerous one to do for someone entering the dating world, or someone who's been in the dating world, or been in several relationships which we both have. I mean, I'm sure there's going to be some triggering moments here. And also, there are some moments where it's like they've been together for a very, very, very long time, and there's a reveal about a partner. So it's like, even if you're in a happily committed relationship, those are so doomsday of me. But you never know who you're dating. You never know who you're sleeping next to. You never know. So never let your guard down. Dump your boyfriend just kidding. Maybe though. Be single forever. I'm excited about these stories and these horrors. These three stories are true crime relationship stories. And there are no murders in these stories, thankfully. But they are about the worst partners imaginable. So grab your drink, because that's what we're doing. And get ready for some horrifying dating stories. Buckle up. Buttercup. Okay, let's start with the first story, though. This is titled My Wife, so the OP is 36 male, wife, 33 female. My wife was sued. I'm feeling resentment towards her and I don't know how to move past it. Alrighty. Are you ready? Yeah. Okay. This is not a post asking for any legal or financial advice. We already have a lawyer and have help financially. No offense to Reddit, but I'd rather not get any legal advice from a forum, but I am okay with getting relationship advice it seems. As the title states, "My wife was recently sued, she lost, and we had to pay. The money is a significant amount for us, and we didn't have much in savings or emergency fund to begin with, and both of those accounts are now empty." But my current problem is trying to move past the resentment and anger I'm feeling towards my wife. Still now, I've always felt like we were a partnership in our marriage, but since I'm the breadwinner, I can't help but feel like I'm spending my money on something that isn't my fault. I've had no problem paying the mortgage and taking care of various financial burdens that come with being a married homeowner, however, I have been the only one to put money aside in our savings and other accounts to prepare for an emergency. I thought an emergency would be like a total car or someone losing their job, medical bills or an active God. How does stupid lawsuit where I know my wife is guilty? She has a part-time job and doesn't make much money, but pays for smaller things when she can, like, groceries and some random bills. But she does take care of a lot of cooking, cleaning, and caring for our pets. What did my wife do? Note, I had no idea this was happening while it was going on. What a build-up. I mean, get to it, buddy. I know. Oh no, but it's not you. It's worth the build-up. I can't wait. I can't wait. I can't wait. Let me tell you. I know someone you've been with them for a very, very long time, but you don't. Okay, my wife used LinkedIn to find her former ex-best friend. She ended up creating a realistic-looking fake LinkedIn profile with a vague occupation of a recruiter. My wife ended up sending this ex-best friend who will call Laura a few messages pretending to be a recruiter in her line of work. Laura finally responded thinking that this recruiter was real. My wife wanted her phone number, but Laura ended up giving her a personal email address instead. My wife created a second fake LinkedIn profile and started to send messages to people with similar titles as Laura at her company. These messages said derogatory things about Laura, a mixture of truthful but embarrassing things, and also fabricated bullshit to make Laura look bad. Laura's manager got one of these messages that claimed that Laura was a heavy drug user. And Laura's manager talked to her about these messages, and he felt like the messages were bizarre and seemed like someone was trying to troll or harass Laura, which is lucky that she has a manager like that. Well, which was exactly what was happening evidently? It gets worse. Yeah. Laura's team had her back and helped her save these messages. And not only that, but Laura requested that she be drug tested anyway to provide further evidence that she was clean. My wife didn't know this at this point, but Laura was also pregnant. All of her co-workers, including her manager, testified on Laura's behalf. Using this personal email address that she got from the fake recruiter profile, my wife was able to find a few social media platforms that Laura was on and able to figure out Laura's husband's name. She did more internet sleuthing and then found Laura's husband on Facebook. Laura's husband didn't have much on his Facebook profile, but you could see his business email address on it. And so my wife sent him an email claiming that Laura was cheating on him. The husband confronted Laura about this email and Laura encouraged him to keep responding to this person and save messages as well as to start asking specific questions about this supposed affair. My wife thought she was being clever. She ended up telling the husband that Laura was cheating on him during the work week, even gave him specific dates. But what she didn't realize was that Laura had something turned on in Google Maps where it keeps a year's worth of historical GPS data. So some of the dates that my wife had given her husband happened to be days where they were both working from home. And she also ended up giving him dates during a time they were on vacation together. Laura had her husband continue to respond as much as possible to my wife to back up all correspondence. Then when my wife learned Laura was pregnant, she found out where and when the baby shower was going to be. One of Laura's friends had created a public registry for her and had the invitation online. My wife decided to show up unannounced to the baby shower, which was taking place in a semi-public place and they had rented out an area connected to the public business. Keep in mind OP has no idea any of this is going on as it's going on. It's so disturbing. And now you could see why the target of this obsession is the ex best friend. I mean, I can only imagine how the friendship was when it was going on. I know. And we do get more context on that. Okay. My wife did not make herself known immediately at the baby shower. Instead, she started looking for patrons that were entering and exiting the rented out room. She was able to get the attention of a few guests that had never met her and she started gossiping about Laura and my wife was telling people that Laura didn't actually know who the father of the baby was among other things. And this was an event that her husband was at as well. So then we're got back to Laura and Laura spotted my wife and apparently immediately put all the pieces together of what had been happening. I'm leaving a fair amount of information out. My wife was able to find phone numbers, social media accounts and emails for other people in Laura's circle and sent them messages about Laura on multiple occasions. All of the messages were trying to paint Laura in an extremely derogatory light and all of the events that I mentioned so far took place over a year or so. My wife didn't think to mask her IP address so it was pretty easy to find out that all these made up messages came from the same IP address which was ours. Many of Laura's friends and family testified on her behalf and Laura had everyone save as much digital evidence as possible, which was a lot. So once Laura put it all together, her and her husband hired a lawyer and decided to sue my wife. They had ample evidence against her, all the saved messages, close friends and even her manager spoke on her behalf. She showed that she went to see a therapist once all the harassment started because she was depressed and anxious, which of course, yeah, like someone was trying to destroy her life. Actually messing with her work, like messing with your livelihood is terrifying, yeah. She showed that she and her husband went to counseling after the accusations of her cheating because even though she wasn't cheating and they can prove it was someone messing with her, that plant seed of doubt and relationships that sometimes is hard to like come back from 100%. It's so sad. Laura even went above and beyond, had more drug tests done to show that she was clean and to prove that my wife's accusations were 100% false. She even had a paternity test done to show that my wife was again wrong and choosing to lie. I honestly feel awful for Laura. There were lots of tears on her end and you could tell how much emotional stress she had gone through. She said that being pregnant during the majority of this was absolutely horrific and she was worried the stress and anxiety would somehow hurt her baby. She was pained that her one and only baby shower was ruined by my wife and that was something that could never truly be repaired. and that my wife's harassment continued even after Laura gave birth and was trying to manage a newborn child. My wife has never done anything this crazy before. I knew she could be a little petty and jealous of others, especially people she used to be friends with in the past, but it was only talk, no action. We've otherwise had a very happy marriage. We rarely fight, we have a lot in common, we have a lot of fun together, but she really fucked up this time. I don't know how to move forward, I know someone is going to suggest therapy, but I really want to start building up an emergency fund again because we're really pretty screwed financially for a while. It's so fascinating to me that the financial focus is where they end because that is not the biggest problem through dealing with you. I mean, this kind of behavior is so disturbing. But here's what I think, because even in the comments it agrees with this, like a lot of people are like, I think the bigger issues, not the financial problem. But if she's doing this to someone who used to be her best friend, what would she do to the original poster if they were to get divorced? 100%, that's the thing, it's like people are either capable of this kind of thing or they're not. They're capable of living this kind of double life where they're messing with somebody. I mean, there are a lot of famous cases like this. Like, are you familiar with the Luca Magnata case? It's like the don't fuck with Kat's case. Oh yeah, okay. Where it's like, they can live these like diabolical internet lives where they're juggling like multiple sock puppet accounts and they're juggling a bunch of user names to harass and stalk people. And it's like, you're either capable and willing to do that or you're not. And she is. Well, also the OP is talking about financially struggling, the amount of energy that their wife is putting into this harassment. Yeah, think about how much she could get done. Yeah, she could, like, she could get a job. How productive could she be? Yeah, she could make so much money. Seriously. Put that energy into like, I don't know, knitting. Make an essay account. Some things, ceramics, anything. Yeah, it's just really evil to try to come at somebody's life in that way and to try to hurt them in that way. And it really is like psychological terrorism. So one of the big questions that commenters were asking was what happened between his wife and Laura? Yeah. For her to feel this angry and we do get an answer about it. But I don't think any betrayal would warrant this in my mind. Well, and I don't think she's angry. I think she's obsessed and fixated and I think there's some other element here because like that's not what angry people do. That's something else. Yeah. So I'll read a couple comments and then we'll go to the updates. So one comment is that is absolutely not normal. Your wife clearly has some serious issues that I think you and she obviously need to start addressing that level of harassment and the duration of it is frankly terrifying. And I feel like you should be concentrating on dealing with that rather than just the financial fallout, which is kind of what you said. Yeah, there's much bigger issues here. But I do understand how that would be scary all of your life savings. It's just gone. Just from a practical standpoint, it's like you put your bills and keep a roof over your head and that I understand that's stressful. Also, I'd rather focus on that because it feels like something you can fix where focusing on the just horror of the relationship is too scary. Well, his wife's dangerous. Yeah, that's dangerous. And losing your house and not being able to pay her bills, that's stressful. Yes. You know, but that's not dangerous in the same way. And then so one of the other comments was, homeboy thinks this is just one occurrence. It wasn't. This was hundreds or thousands of vindictive actions over months or years. They said that she belongs in jail and that O.P. needs to grow a spine and divorce his wife. Nowhere in his post is he mentioned that she feels any remorse for her actions. Okay, so here are the updates. There are some common questions I wanted to address to provide additional clarification. So the first question that the O.P. is responding to is, how did she avoid jail? I only mentioned the civil case since I felt that was the most appropriate to write about because I was originally angry about our financial situation. But there was also a criminal case. Our lawyer thought she would originally have to go to jail for three months. However, we were able to get her punishment to be resolved by community service instead. She has a lot of community service hours to complete within a year, which is good. I feel like she needs to stay busy. Yeah. She will also be getting visits from a parole officer. Laura and her husband did file restraining orders against her. I honestly can't blame them for that. It helped my wife that she had a clean record and has a family that works in law enforcement. It helps a lot. I want her to finish those community service hours before we talk about her working more hours to help pay me back. Then the next question, this was like the biggest one that I had, is, why did she do this to Laura? That's a good question. I have asked her this multiple times over the past several months to try to understand what this woman did to my wife. She would tell me that Laura deserved everything horrible that she did to her. That Laura was a shitty person, a narcissist, a liar, and overall a scumbag, but she would never give really specific examples. I've been pressing her for more info, and when she told me some specifics, it made me feel sick to my stomach. Not because of what Laura did, but because of how far my wife decided to go due to some petty things that happened in their friendship. So their friendship ended about eight to nine years ago. They had been friends since early high school, and it was over a man they had briefly both dated. So this man, Matt, my wife dated for a few months, she broke up with him because she thought that Matt had feelings for Laura. And Laura said she didn't want to date Matt because he had dated my wife. My wife decided to test Laura and her loyalty and told Laura that she had her blessing to go ahead and date Matt. And Laura and Matt did end up dating for a few months, which is shitty, but like happens. You can't play the mind games and tell someone it's okay when you don't mean it. Agreed. And also not worth nine years later, but trying to destroy someone's life over it. If Laura had gone to the wife and said I want to date Matt, and then the wife without meaning it said like fine, that's different. Then Laura saying I don't want to date him, you dated him and Laura pushing it on her and then punishing her. The wife pushing on Laura. Correct. And it's like, because then I could see how it's like, okay, Laura asked the wife and she wasn't comfortable with it, but what do you say? It was a brief relationship. No, the wife literally planted it and then punished her for it. Yes. So once Laura and Matt broke up, my wife told Laura that she had failed the loyalty test. They fought and ultimately it was Laura who decided to end the friendship with my wife. No, in case it's not clear, Laura's husband is not Matt. So I was able to get some information from my wife about what inspired her to do this since their friendship had ended so long ago. My wife said that she happened to see by chance, not by stalking Laura at a restaurant about two years ago, and it looked like Laura had lost a lot of weight and was fit. My wife and I are both fairly overweight and apparently Laura used to be overweight too. So my wife admitted that she felt angry that Laura had lost a lot of weight while she had ever been able to. My wife was also insulting Laura, saying that Laura doesn't make a pretty thin person and that her new muscular body was too masculine. It's just so sad like this woman clearly has a lot of like insecurities and is taking them out on someone else. No, there's nothing Laura could have looked literally anyway when she ran into Laura at the restaurant and she would have been angry. So it doesn't matter what Laura does, she's living her own life. I'm sure she looked great before, she looks great muscular, like there was no winning. No, there was. No, okay. My wife also insulted Laura's husband's looks and physique as well. I saw both Laura and her husband in person on multiple occasions, they both look like normal, attractive people who obviously work out. I could also tell my wife was irritated when she saw Laura at the courthouse the first time because Laura had just had a baby and you couldn't really tell. So it's jealousy. Yes. My wife admitted that she just wanted to do some snooping to find that Laura wasn't doing well in life but instead found the opposite and was jealous of Laura's success. She first found out both of their job titles because they work at tech companies with some sort of engineering title and then estimated their salaries by using something called glass door. And if that's accurate, then both Laura and her husband make really good money. My wife also saw a photo on Facebook of Laura and her husband standing in front of what appeared to be their very beautiful and large home. And she said she was angry because she knew Laura wasn't deserving of any of this. So it's all jealousy and it's all the OP's wife building this like narrative in her head that who knows what's true. Correct. She proceeded to then insult Laura about how she's not that smart, not pretty, not responsible. She claimed that all Laura did through college with drugs, drink, have sex with anything that had a penis, skip class and failed a lot. My wife said that Laura is the type who would cheat on her husband that she's manipulative and always up to something, although I would say look at the mirror. Yeah. Both Laura and her husband seemed very sad and exhausted throughout the whole ordeal. I never picked up on anything sinister from Laura at all and if anything, I feel absolutely awful for her. Which I, like, OP seems like a great, great guy. Well, here's the thing, when you uncover another side is someone you think you know, if you're willing to be introspective, you know that you've been lied to a manipulated, not in the same way, but in many other ways. Yeah. Because there's no way, I mean, people who are duplicitous like this are not capable really of keeping it contained. Yeah. They control all the people in their lives. playing chess constantly. So I'm sure he's had some come to Jesus moments. - Well, going back to what someone said in the comments of how this was like so many hundreds to thousands of like small, vindictive choices over months and years, I'm curious who else she's done this to because she got caught in this situation. But the way that she was like so good at it, it makes me wonder if there have been others in the past. - Well, it's effective. - We're going after someone's job. Normally, Laura's manager happened to be, they had a good relationship at the point where the manager defended Laura, but that's not always what happens. - Do you watch Real Housewives of Rhode Island sometimes? - Okay, 'cause in that, there's like, I can't remember the names, 'cause by season two, I remember all of them. - There's so many. - But there's one woman who called out a husband of another woman for having an affair and that husband and the wife, like we're trying to destroy her career, calling her boss and all this stuff. It's crazy. - Play deal with your own shit. - Okay, I'll go back to OP, says. OP says, I felt absolutely awful for Laura. I felt extreme shame and embarrassment whenever I was in the same room with Laura and her husband. I don't think I was ever able to make direct eye contact with either of them. So yeah, I was expecting Laura to have done something truly evil or sinister in the past, but that just wasn't the case. The next question OP answers is, does your wife feel remorseful? I want to say yes, she does. She's been really depressed since this all was finalized. However, I can't help but think she's only sad because she got caught. She hasn't directly said anything that would leave me to believe she's truly remorseful and she's still angry at Laura for escalating to the point of a criminal in civil case. She feels like Laura overreacted. My wife believes every horrible thing she said about Laura, she's convinced that Laura is some alcoholic, drug addict who cheats on her husband is the type to lie and cheat her way to the top of her career. And somehow Laura is able to hide all this from everyone in her life. My wife felt like she was doing work to try to expose Laura for the monster that she is. And she feels like Laura pressing charges and suing her is additional proof that Laura is vindictive. My hope is that she has time to think while she's doing her community service hours over the next year. I think she feels bad that I had to empty out our accounts and sell some things to come up with money. I did talk to her about working more hours when she's finished community service and she agreed. Okay, the next question OP answers is, are you going to get divorced? Because that was like everyone's comment. Yeah, like divorce her. OP says, the thought has crossed my mind, but we've been together for so long and I still love her despite this disgusting thing she has done. I can't see my life without her, but I know, and I'm having a hard time admitting this to myself that if she doesn't improve or learn a lesson from this mess, then I can't be with her anymore. But a lot of people have mentioned that if she can do this type of thing to an ex-friend, then she can do the same to an ex-husband, which has me worried. And I'd like to believe she wouldn't go nuclear on me if I did file for a divorce. But I will be taking precautions in case I do have to defend myself in the future. Well, definitely do it while she's on probation. Yes. But listen, Laura and the original poster was wife, stopping friends eight to nine years prior. It didn't seem to matter that time passed. 'Cause it sounds like there's a lot going on in the OP's wife's life. Like maybe she's not fulfilling fulfilled, which is why when she saw Laura, like all of these own deeper insecurities came flooding out. Not that that's an excuse, but I think she needs a lot of therapy. Yeah, but I don't think people like this, like this is, for me, my, you know, perspective, it's akin to stalking, where I don't think it's curable. Like these kind of obsessive fixations, if you're capable of it, if your brain does it, if you really are so driven to destroy someone, then you have it in you. I truly think it can, it's like a thing that can get switched on. I think you can have it in you, but I wanna believe that if you did enough work on yourself, if you were willing to be introspective enough, you could channel that energy into yourself. That's a nice thought. Trying to be optimistic. No, it's very optimistic, and I do think like, just being in true crime, you know, there needs to be rehabilitation, 'cause you can't throw someone in jail for the rest of their life for something like this. Like, yeah, you can't. Right, so it's like, yeah, let's think that hopefully with therapy and maybe meds, and maybe some guardrails like probation, a probation officer. Yeah, like we like to think that it can stop, but I don't know. Yeah, I'm skeptical. Okay, so the next question is about therapy. Everyone was asking what about therapy and OP wrote, I know we need this both as a couple and as individuals to deal with this mess. I've talked to her about this, and she doesn't seem totally solid on the idea of therapy. I've expressed that I think it would help us both, and she seems indifferent at this point, which I think is the biggest red flag. If she's not willing to do that work, that means she doesn't think she has a change. That she doesn't think she did anything wrong. She doesn't care. Yeah. Because if you can be okay with ruining, forget an ex-friend. I wouldn't ruin my enemy's baby shower. I don't have enemies, but if I did, I wouldn't ruin their baby shower. That's the biggest thing is, I just can't waste my time on people who have wronged me. I don't care. I don't have wronged you success and happiness is the best revenge. I don't believe Laura wronged her. I don't either. But here's the thing, ruining a baby shower. You didn't just ruin Laura's day. You ruined the father's day. You ruined Laura's family's day. The ripple effects and how many people you're hurting along the way to not consider that, to not have the empathy, to explore that possibility is it's a certain type of person. I divorced them on for less than this. So, if I were OP, I'm out. 100%. I've never actually dealt with a personal relationship with someone like this. I've encountered someone on wood. Where's their wood? I've encountered someone like this. But I have? Yeah. Well, I did a whole, my old podcast unraveled. I did a season called The Stalker's Web, where this guy was a diabolical stalker who ended up going to jail for it. But, like, internet stalking that ruined, ruined people's lives, like, had naked photos of people, sent it to their coworkers, sent it to their family, like, did the most horrible, psychologically, terroristic things, you know? And it's like, he's still not done and he's been doing it for decades and he's not over these fixations. So, like, I'm a little bit more skeptical about people's ability to change if you're capable of this. There. Yeah. But I hope you're right. I hope so too. I hope that for the original poster's wife. Okay, the last thing that OP says about therapies that I'm leaning towards that she has had some mental breakdown of some kind and focus all of her energy on this one woman in her life. I'm not going to give up on my wife yet. It's very possible that she has some underlying mental illness that could very well be treated with therapy or meds. Kids are not involved. And what's next is that is what the OP wants help with. I sat down with my wife a few times since the post and can feel some resistance coming from her about starting therapy. I think she's irritated at her parents who offered to pay for therapy for us. She has stated that she would rather us solve our problems together without interference from someone she doesn't know. And then OP says that she's afraid that we're not going to like any therapist we find and that the therapist will attack her throughout her sessions. So, she doesn't want to be told she's wrong. No, and she knows that she's the problem. So, the therapist may be like, "Hey, she doesn't want a therapist to validate her husband and then always have to be in the wrong in every conversation." And then she can live in the delusion right now that he's part of the problem. And that it's not all her fault. She can live in that denial. Not that Laura is the problem still. Yeah, so just to end this story, I'll read a couple of comments. Someone wrote, "Dude, I hate to break it to you, but if you're hoping this post is going to make people more sympathetic to your wife, that's not happening. You need to make it clear to her that therapy is not optional here." And I do agree with that. Like, I feel like that should be a deal breaker. If she doesn't go to therapy, he's gone. What she did is beyond the borders of all rationality. If things are going to get better, she needs professional grade help. If she refuses to acknowledge that, then you need to ask yourself what you're trying to preserve here. And then someone else said she doesn't want therapy because she doesn't want to be told that she's wrong. Yeah, she's embarrassed. Yeah, like what she did's embarrassing is shameful. I don't think she feels the embarrassment yet. I think she knows that if she has to go to therapy, she will feel that resentment. Or maybe she's a sociopath and isn't feeling embarrassment. She just feels rage. What do you all think, our listeners? Red heads, that we're calling you? For today. Okay, red heads for today. What do you think? Let us know. Okay, are you ready for the second story? I guess. I mean, what's going to top that one? Okay, this is going to, it's truly the stomach turning. Oh no. It's sickening. Okay, I'm ready. I'm not going to read what it's called 'cause it'll give it away. It will give away. And I want to preserve the horror, the shock value. Yeah, okay. This might be one of the most horrifying things I've come across. And I feel like I'm going to say that every episode as we read stories because reddit has some disturbing things. But okay. I, 22 female, have been with my partner 24 male for four years now. I've never known him to do anything like this. But I noticed he started acting a little strange around a month or maybe a month and a half ago. My partner started putting fruit on the floor in the garden. And I thought it was a bit weird. But he said he was feeding the mice family that have nested in our shed. And I thought that was sweet. And so I helped him do so. Fruit on the ground like outside? In the shed, like, or in the garden for the mice. Okay, cute. I love mice. So indoors are outdoors. Outdoors. Anyway, he started being really nice to me around two weeks ago, and was making me food, baking me cakes and stuff, which he usually never cooks. So I was happy that he found a hobby. I did notice that sometimes I felt sick and dizzy after eating, and I just put it down to a lack of sleep or hormones. Anyway, a friend of my partner came into my work today, I worked in a cafe, and he said he needed to speak to me when I was free. I was free because there weren't any customers at the time. I feel really sick to my stomach. I don't understand why my partner would do this, this is so out of character of him. And I asked my partner why he was doing this, and my partner accused me of snooping through his messages, which I would never do, and then he got angry at me for not being able to take a joke. I feel disgusted. I love him to pieces, but I just don't understand his way of thinking, "Am I overreacting? I don't know what to do. I feel lost." There's so much wrong with it that I'm speechless. First of all, I like slugs. Do you do? Well, not us to eat. No, but they're cute. They literally don't bother anyone. They don't do anything to bother anyone. Maybe they eat leaves off some plants, annoying if you're a gardener, but this isn't that. It just seems like a bizarre, cruel thing to do. It's abusive. And possibly poisonous to his partner, and like, what are you getting off on here? I would be interested to know if there's a weird fetish for just tricking people in the eating things, because this is strange. It's horrific. Yeah. I mean, who knows how long it had been going on for, too. But also, if your partner has never made you any food, and he just started randomly baking you cakes like red flag. I'm sorry. I'd be like-- O.P. was like two weeks ago, he started being extremely nice to me. And that seemed alarming to her, which is also like, your partner should always be nice to you, first of all. It feels psychopathic. Well, it means that he's getting off on dupping her, you know, and like manipulating her into doing this. Like, that's what he's enjoying, and that's why he's being nice. Which is really interesting. And then his response to get mad at her, like, total Darva gaslighting. So all the comments kind of agree with us. If anything, you're underreacting, you need to leave this psycho. He's going to cause serious harm. Slugs are notorious intermediate hosts for human parasites, which is terrifying. This one, please forgive me for asking. But are you fucking kidding me? And O.P. said, I wish I was. Someone else said, if this is real, and I'm leaning towards not because it's so fucking bizarre, you need to leave him immediately. He is trying to poison you. He's lying about his behavior. He's hiding it and trying to play it off as a joke where there's absolutely zero way this is a joke. And now that he's been exposed, he's likely to up the ante to physical and emotional abuse. You say you love him, but you should love yourself more and leave. O.P. responds, I just found a jar of slugs under the sink. It's becoming a reality now. I packed my bags and left. He was scaring me. He was just staring at the wall the whole time, not even speaking. Okay, no, there's an update. I went to urgent care last night, early hours of the morning, and was finally seen around six AM-ish. I had some tests, and I have a high level of metal to hide in my blood, which is primarily functions as a mollus decide. It's to kill slugs and snails and other gastropods in agricultural and residential settings. So I was kept in the hospital for monitoring, and I have some ulcers in my stomach, which I was aware of as I was hospitalized two months ago for a burst ulcer. So I originally thought I was stressed, but now they said it could be because of poisoning. So O.P. has fully been being poisoned. Well, the slugs may have been. Then he collects, like, people poison the slugs at their own homes to get rid of them, and then he's collecting the slugs. And the poison's getting into his partner. So he's poisoning his partner? Yeah, with slugs. I could have an infection of some kind as my temperature is high, but they haven't found anything that could be causing it yet. They've checked my heart, and it's fine. And then as context, the O.P. is also due to have heart surgery this year, but they're delaying it due to the ulcers and infections. I have an appointment to see my cardiologist on April 20th. I contacted the police and wrote a statement and was asking some questions. My ex refused to say anything to the police, or to me, however, he did say he would speak to his friend and only him. So the friend who, like, which, thank goodness, this friend who did the right thing and he added out his good person. He then spoke to me. I was not alone. I was with some friends. And my partner confessed to doing random experiments on me and tests starting a few months after we moved in together. It started with spitting on my toast. And then a week later, he replaced my medication, beta blockers with salt. And I want to add, my partner was my medication holder because I have a suicidal history. So he handles my meds and gives them to me and thought it would be funny. We're dealing with like, oh, really? Yeah. He also admitted to these things, like swapping my lendemacartney vegetarian sausages with real meat. I have IBS and struggled to digest meat, so I became a vegetarian. He also replaced my corn nuggets with real ones. Oh, he also had a pet giant African land snail, and it went missing in the summer, which I assumed escaped as I left the lid open on the box, but he said it died. So he scraped it out and put it in my curry. And I vaguely remember the day he did this because for some reason, he kept laughing whenever I went to eat my curry. I got really paranoid, so I put it in the kitchen and stormed off. He then brought it upstairs and told me to taste it. And I did. And I realized he added loads of chili powder at the time he said he was laughing because he accidentally put too much chili powder. But now I realized he was laughing because he put my snail in there. He also said he rubbed my toothbrush on the toilet and then washed it thinking it was too far. Truly, all of this feels like a dream. It just seems too dramatic to feel real. I'm unsure of what is happening on the legal front. He says he didn't know why he did this, that he does love me truly, but that he felt compelled to do it. I'm sorry, he doesn't love you. No one who loves you is going to do this to you. He's evil. Yeah. I suffer from OCD and I get compulsions too. And he does love taking care of me. He feels it's his purpose and he didn't mean to cause me serious harm. Also the fact that he feels like it's his purpose to take care of you. Well, that's interesting and I think there can be some nuance here or overlap of what's going on or what's motivating him because maybe he's trying to make her sick so that she needs him and he can swoop in and be the same, some weird version of that. Either way, it's a direct fault call. Yeah. And then OP ends the update saying, I think he could be stressed. Just have stress as I have mental health issues that could have caused something in him to break. So they're trying to put it on themselves. Which is not OP's fault at all. Have you seen obsession? Yes. This reminds me of I'm a great, there's like a much bigger theme with that movie, but just for looking at the context of like the film, the cat situation. Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Here are the comments. We do have another update afterwards, but I'll read a couple comments. What the fuck? This is seriously abusive. He fucked with your meds, fed you things that could have really hurt you. Feeding you your dead snail is just wow. I sincerely hope that you're going to pursue charges against him and never be with him again. He is dangerous and disturbed. Another one said, do not try to excuse what he did to you. He is abusing you. Never speak to him without someone else being there. And don't believe him when he says he loves you. Your life is some messed up experiment to him. And I did find one additional update where OP wrote, my partner was diagnosed with ASPD, which is anti-social personality disorder yesterday, and admitted everything to me and how I was his way of looking normal to the outside world, that he manipulated me by giving me everything I wanted, love, affection, and compliments, that he began testing me emotionally at first with cheating to see how I'd react. But I forgave him, which then is why he began with the food and stuff to see how long until I got sick. He's a sociopath that that's what anti-social personality traits like that's what that is. It's like you don't conform with the norms in society, which is governed by the laws of we don't hurt each other, like there's some trust here, like he totally took advantage of her trust. Yeah. The exact description of ASPD is a mental health condition characterized by a chronic pattern of disregarding the rights, emotions, and well-being of others. Individuals with ASPD often manipulate or violate others without showing remarks and may struggle with law, impulsivity, and substance abuse. Yeah. Like truly a horrible human being. And I've talked to like psychological profilers before who talked about how sociopaths and people who struggle with this, like they need titillation. So they don't do these things for any reason other than it's exciting, exciting for them to get away with it. They're pushing the boundaries to see how far they can go. But they need that. Like that's why they cause chaos when they're in like even in business environments. It's like they have to be making someone miserable and they have to be sewing chaos or they're bored. Yeah. Truly thank goodness for the friend because have that friend not told OP what's going on. Who knows how long it could have been. have gone, who knows what could have happened? And I did to end this story in a somewhat positive way. I found their username and then looked up at all the comments they've made recently. And as recent as July, they had posted on Reddit saying, I'm doing okay. Well, one, they were commenting on jewelry. So they're buying jewelry, having a great time on Reddit over there. But then in pertaining to this case, they said, I'm doing okay. More stuff has happened throughout the years that made me reevaluate myself worth as I was dating these horrible men constantly and realize that I didn't have to accept below the minimum anymore. And thankfully, now I'm with someone who's taught me what real love is and has helped me heal to the point where I can even make jokes about it now, not fully. And I can't see or hear the S word slugs. But I can call them creatures. And I started eating mushrooms again and other foods that do remind me without noticing that I made big changes. And I am happy and proud of how I'm doing. Yeah. Good for them. I mean, yeah, that's traumatic. Like, there's no, I might know words. And I also, it's just I can't even fathom. So I'm a vegetarian. I have been my whole life. I was raised vegetarian. And I've had partners who like find that as a problem and like make jokes about replacing my like vegan patties or vegetarian patties with me, which I find so offensive because it's like, I'm not impacting you. Yeah. Like just because I don't eat meat doesn't I'm not stopping you from it. Yeah. Why do you care so much about like what I'm doing? Right. And diet is so personal. Yeah. What people eat is so personal. And like, I don't think anyone, I don't think vegans or vegetarian should try to convert meat eaters. I don't think I should try to convert vegetarians. Like, I think it's such a personal choice that like, we all got to do our own thing. But yeah, it's just what he was doing was so insidious, violating it's abusive. Yeah. And what's so disturbing too is that like she obviously has big underlying medical conditions had something happened. They probably would have blamed that 100%. You know, like she was scheduled for heart surgery. It's crazy. It's so seconding. Yeah. Okay. Our last story. I mean, what could possibly be after the first two this one. It's not at I mean, it's dark, but it has a little bit more of an uplifting. Okay. Slightly. Slightly. Well, and you said there was no murder in this episode, there's slug murder. That's true. Many slugs. Yes. Yes. We're blended up. Yes. Oh, it's so gross. I hope no one has to eat lunch after this. Okay. The last one. I 21 male got a friend request from my dead ex girlfriend, 21 female in eighth grade. I met this girl north. She was in my band class and the two of us hit it off. I asked her out on a movie date and we became boyfriend and girlfriend. She was my first girlfriend and things were going all right. That was until her dad got a new job across the country in California, which meant that North moved away. But we decided to try out long distance dating through our freshman year of high school. We were not built for long distance dating. I couldn't protect her from bullies. I couldn't hug her when she was crying or tell her it was going to be alright when she told me about her depression. We got into arguments about God knows what, but decided to keep the relationship going because her dad was trying to transfer back closer to our hometown. That was until she stopped texting me around Christmas and her sister sent me a funeral program and asked me to go to California. North sister told me that North took her own life because the bullying was getting so bad and because I wasn't there for her when she needed me. It broke my heart that I couldn't go to California for the funeral and for the past eight years I have mourned her loss. First of all, North sister can you know the words like seriously and it's like these are kids you don't blame kids for things like this. But I also do understand if you're caught up in that emotion wanting to blame someone else and I could forgive that. But the guilt that OP probably felt is I can't even imagine. No, and I could forgive that too, but just the idea that you weren't there to protect her. Okay, your family moved to California. What is one of my supposed to do? He's a minor. Yeah. Move by himself. Okay, I'm just waiting because there's there's a turn coming. Yeah. Okay, I spent the entirety of my high school career trying to rebuild myself from all that damage. I went to meetings for people who've lost family members and loved ones. I went to therapy for four years to try and help process this loss. I had to learn how to become dependable because I didn't want that to happen again. And after working on myself for four years, I finally asked out one of my classmates, Lucy. Lucy and I started dating at the tail end of our senior year and are about to celebrate our four year anniversary in April. Last night, I got a notification from Facebook saying that I got a new friend request. I opened the app and found that this friend request was from North. She looks older and it is undeniable. It is her. There are pictures of her as an adult with her fiance and her new born daughter. I spent eight years of my life believing that North was dead, but here she is undeniably that she is living a great life without me. My stomach is in knots. My heart is sinking to the ground and my mind is racing to try to figure out what happened and what I should do. Do I accept the friend request? Do I ignore it and try to move on? I feel completely lost and I feel like my entire life has been a lie. I spend the entire night looking at pictures of her and her family. Lord that she would do this to me. Do you think it's real? It's either North who did this or North sister. I would ask the question and give them one opportunity to explain because what if North sister is evil and told North that he died? I will give you one chance to explain this before I block you and write you off until you are a psychopath and never contact me again. One thing when I was first reading this, I'm thinking about AI and how you can create images of people when they look older and you can create so much with AI these days that I could also see a world where someone was fucking with OP and is like, oh, that girlfriend that died. Hey, actually, she's still alive, but it's all fake. But who? Why? If it's been eight or nine years and the truth is she's not dead. That's great. Isn't that crazy? That's really messed up. Okay. So the comments are she faked her own death to break up with you. That is beyond cruel. Dude, has been mourning her for almost a decade and then she has the guts to send him a friend request. Whatever you do, please discuss this with your girlfriend as well. She will likely feel betrayed if you take up contact with an ex, which you never got closure from without telling her. That being said, I would accept the request and ask her about the fake funeral and everything because you have a right to know. And OP wrote, Jesus, I didn't even think about how to talk to Lucy about this. I know I need to tell her, but I don't even know how to bring it up. So we have an update. So I decided to wait until Lucy gets home for work before I make any decision on whether or not to accept the friend request. I want to know what she thinks and I can always depend on her to keep me level headed. But until then, I just kind of want to sort out my feelings. I remember the day that I found out about North's supposed death. It was a few days before Christmas. The snow had just started to hit the ground. And I remember walking to the edge of the neighborhood along Main Street. I sat on the sidewalk, watching the carers thinking about how if I walked into the road, they wouldn't stop. I was sitting there on the sidewalk contemplating for what felt like hours if I wanted to keep living. It was the most important choice of my life. Now that choice feels hollow, it feels meaningless. Every decision that I made since then has come from that choice I made eight years ago. And now it feels empty and without promise. Please don't think for a second that I plan to do anything drastic. I really don't. I want to keep making the choice to live. But for now, I just need to figure out my meaning. Yeah, like the last eight years of their life was a complete lie. Okay, update two. I accepted the front request. After Lucy and I talked about it, we agreed that the possibility of getting some sort of closure would be worth it. So I accepted the front request and sent North Atex saying hello. About half an hour later, I received a notification that North responded. And we started talking a bit, talking about how our lives have been. Turns out her and her fiance were in town visiting family. And it started to make her think about all the hurt she cost me and she wouldn't feel comfortable moving on with her relationship without knowing if I was okay. She tried to apologize saying that we were dumb kids and that it seemed easier to ghost me instead of break up with me. She told me all about how in some messed up teenager way she thought that giving me an explanation to her ghosting me would make it easier to move on. So she and her sister concocted the whole story about her death. I told her about the years of therapy, the years of loneliness about how guilty I felt when I started dating again. I told her how I used to think that she was the one for me even through the nights of arguing and that she left me more hurt than if she had just thrown me away. And I told her in some weird way, I'm thankful to her because her death, although it was fake, did change me for the better and that I wouldn't be the man I am today if it wasn't for her. I then said, having said that, I will not accept your apology. It is a shallow attempt to free your own guilty conscience before you get married. If you were really sorry, you would have said something sooner. You would have apologized sooner or you wouldn't have done it at all. You took the coward way out and I do not forgive cowards, which truly beautiful response. Yes. Because also like cool, I get the whole you guys were in like ninth grade. Yeah. I get that. Okay. I don't get allowing your sister to blame him. No. I don't get that. Like that's make it his rule. - Yeah, I don't get waiting almost a decade to clear it up. And I also don't understand how like in a social media day and age, she got away with it for so long. - Yeah. - She said she understood, hope that one day I could move past the hurt that she caused me and find it in my heart to forgive her. I took screenshots of the whole conversation, and I sent it to her fiance, because I don't know if he knows the story between me and her, but now he can have enough of an idea that they start the conversation. I hope they can figure it out and move past it. After all they do look happy together and the mistakes of a teenager should not affect her current life. However, I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a part of me that hopes it crashes and burns, which I get. - That's fair. - These weren't just mistakes of a teenager though. They dragged into her adulthood. - Yeah. - By not clearing the air, like bizarre, bizarre thing to do. On the bright side, I can now truly move on from the relationship that cost me eight years of my life and put the whole story of North behind me. Thank you to everyone who helped me find the courage to face this head-on. And thanks to everyone who sent kind words. - I guess that's a happy ending. In the sense that she's not dead? - Well, the original poster is choosing to look at this with a glass half full attitude. - Yeah. - But they are choosing to do that. You know, it depends on your perspective. And I guess like because they're able to see this through a healthy lens, it's a happy-ish. - Yeah. - Ending-ish. - It's like dark, man. - It's super dark. - So dark. - What's like your worst breakup? Like, have people lied to you for breakups? - I believe so, but they must have done it well because I don't really know, but like, I obviously have the kind of breakups where people are like, "No, there's nothing going on between me and so-and-so "and then we break up and then they're like narrated." - Yeah. - So that's definitely happened where he's like, "No, I don't even find it attractive." Like, you married into yours. So that's happened where I'm like, "Okay, something must be going on "because that was like a coworker." - Yeah. - I've had some weird stuff happen. I've definitely had like love bombing and then like total abrupt breakup. - Yeah. - Like, you just told me you love me though. Like, kind of shit. - Yeah. - Nothing like this. - No. - No. - Pretending to die? - Pretending to die? - Pretending to die. - Yeah. - That's the most. - And you and I have talked about this about how you and I are both bad at breaking up with people. I don't see like, we wait for other people to break up with us. - Yeah. I remember the first time I tried to break up with someone, I started crying because they wouldn't let me. And they thought that me crying was me not wanting to break up with them, but I was crying because they wouldn't let me break up with them. - Yeah. - Oh, literally. There was one person that I did break up with, but they did not want to let me either. Like, no, let's move it together. I'm like, that's the opposite of breaking up. That's literally not the opposite of what I'm trying to do. - Yeah. - Oh gosh. - The worst break up I had, and I'm grateful that this is the worst, is when I was in, what was it, like, seventh grade? I had a. - This is the worst, your seventh grade break up. - Only because it's funny. - Okay, I've had worse in terms of relationship issues, but I had an AIM away message on, and a boy sent me a message saying, "Hey, it's over." - I had an away message on. I wasn't even there. What was the away message? - Probably like. - BRB. - BRB, like, with my girly, playing soccer. - With my BFF. - Yeah. - And it was the lower case. - T-T-Y-L, lower case, upper case. - Yeah, 100% in terms of the stars. - Yeah, but I got broken up with when I had an away message on. - So rude. - I would take that every day over this. I hit my mask. - Yes. - Over this. - I'm like, "Okay, well, at least be a little bit more elaborate." Like, what if you'd been like, "Cool, I'm on my way to the funeral." Stage of funeral then. Like, you guys really do it then. - I know, then they would have had to make up something else, or I don't know. - They literally created a fake funeral pamphlet. - Impressive, actually, for like, high school kids. - Now I'm curious, all of you, thread heads, if that's what we're calling you today, our listeners. 3. The original partner expresses deep emotional and financial trauma, but believes his wife has a severe mental health issue rooted in jealousy and insecurity, particularly over a past friendship and perceived loss of weight, and calls her actions a form of psychological terrorism.

Summary:

FAQs

The wife created fake LinkedIn profiles to send derogatory messages to the ex-best friend, falsely accusing her of drug use and infidelity. She also manipulated the friend’s husband by sending false emails about an affair, used GPS data to fabricate dates, and attended the friend’s baby shower to spread rumors, causing significant emotional and psychological harm.

She continued the harassment to inflict emotional and psychological damage, even after the friend was pregnant. This included spreading false rumors about her parenting and the baby’s father, and she targeted the friend’s family during a vulnerable time, which caused severe distress and added to the trauma of the situation.

No, she was not arrested. Instead, she was sentenced to community service and required to complete hundreds of hours within a year. She also has to comply with regular visits from a parole officer as part of the resolution.

The wife admitted she was jealous of the friend’s weight loss, appearance, and financial success, especially after seeing her at a restaurant. She developed a fixation and believed the friend had a life of privilege, which led her to fabricate damaging stories and engage in prolonged online harassment.

She claims to feel some regret and depression after being caught, but she still believes the ex-best friend is a manipulative, deceitful person. She doesn’t feel remorse for the harm caused and continues to see the actions as justified revenge.

The partner collected and poisoned slugs, then secretly fed them to his partner, who later developed poisoning symptoms and health complications. He also manipulated food and medications, replacing her diet with harmful options and even adding a dead snail to a curry, which caused severe distress and health issues.
