Recruiting Show: Texas Class Continues To Grow, 5-Stars On Flip Watch

That's Andrew Ivins, Director of Scouting for 24-7 Sports, National Director. Ivins, what's going on, buddy? Not much, bud. Hey, I'll tell you this. Saturday night, my first or one of my first thoughts about halfway through that Texas game is I think Jeremiah Smith's going number one overall in the 2027 NFL draft. And I've been waiting for some time. I've been waiting for some time. I just want to put that take out there. So I'm owning it now. I think he's going to go number one. I think that's entirely fair. Man, like, people are like, are they throwing the ball to Jeremiah too much? I'm like, they're getting 11 yards a target. Build the whole plane out of Jeremiah. He's box office, right? Like, just what he's able to do in these type of games now, you know, when it's not a powerful opponent. But, man, just how he gets open, everything he does. It's a lot of fun. I don't think we realize how special what we are watching. I mean, he could start for, I think, all 32 NFL teams next week if that was possible. I 100% agree. Like, the guy is just physically unreal, you know, coming down with the ball, getting open like that. That was an awesome game. You know, we could talk about, like, the mismanagement potentially or interesting management choices at the end. But, like, yeah, like, Jeremiah was box office. And, you know, Arch, by the way, like, down the stretch. Made some. We're probably talking a little bit differently about him if Coleman hauls in that ball as opposed to making an interception there in the first quarter. But, you know, two former five stars really balling out, which gets us into our first block today. Want to talk a little recruiting news. No flips yet, but certainly DJ Jacobs, Ohio State edge commit, is a guy that I know personally, you've heard as well, a lot of teams think that they have a shot to flip. And so over the weekend, DJ Jacobs did indeed. Visit Georgia. What do you got for us on that? Yeah. Number one player in the top two, four, seven. And but every time I turn on the tape, I feel like I'm watching a highlight tape. I'm talking like full games. I mean, DJ Jacobs is just making plays, making plays, making plays. And he was at Georgia on Saturday. And it's kind of a unique situation. He is a UGA legacy and he's got a younger brother in the class of twenty twenty eight. So those would be the high school juniors. And he's a top two, four, seven defensive lineman. And he's going through. The recruiting process. I don't think they've officially said package deal or anything like that. I mean, they're not twins in any way. So a good chance I can end up at different schools. But as Dawson Jacobs goes out and tours different colleges this fall, DJ is coming along with him. And this is a kid that committed to Ohio State back in December. And he kind of shut things down. He picked Ohio State over Miami. A lot of people thought Miami was going to be the choice, but he's going to be on the road. And Georgia is the first one that got him on campus. Ben Wolk for 24-7 Sports reported over the weekend that he thinks, you know, everything still signals, hey, this kid's going to end up at Ohio State. But Gabby Arrutia at the Miami site reported that the Jacobs brothers are going to be at Hard Rock Stadium for the Florida State game in a few weeks. I believe the duo is also going to be at Oregon this upcoming weekend. So I think this is one to monitor. And obviously, it's the number one player in the class. But to me, this guy is just so unique. You know, initially, I thought, OK, maybe he's more of an edge rusher. Ohio State was telling him, hey, you could be an Arvel Reese. We're going to play you at linebacker. I thought maybe more ideal long term, a guy that's going to play, get more interior looks. And, you know, I'm back kind of at a crossroads. I don't know where DJ Jacobs is going to line up. I know it's going to be somewhere in the front seven, and I think he's going to wreck havoc. But at Blessed Trinity this fall, they've been kind of using him as a Mike linebacker. On some situations as well. So just an unreal individual and a guy that's playing really well here as a 12th grader. The displacement of other humans when he makes contact with them is fantastic. These guys just go flying, man. It's unreal. The one clip we had there, literally, the tackle, I think both feet are off the ground as he just kind of ejects him from the protection plan. You know, I mean, I did. I did CBS TV on Saturday night with a guy named Kevin Carter. And we were talking about, you know, like different different players and what on college and where they project the NFL. He's like, man, sometimes the answer is just just simple. Just let let let him be a strong side end in a 4-3 and like let him be real meaningful in the run game and also getting favorable matchups in the pass rush game. Like if he's what we think he's 6'5", 240 listed on a 24-7 profile. Like, I don't know what he's going to grow into, but, you know, if he can be like, 6'5", 275, sometimes your best guys, you know, like what makes him special is the ability to stay outside with insider size, you know, and like that there's been, you know, guys like that we've seen, you know, in history. Like, I think he's more quick twitched than like a Mario Edwards Jr. Was, but like a lot of that was like, was this guy gonna have to kick inside? Is he going to have to be a D tackle? I was like, well, no, like he not until he proves that he can't play outside. I mean, if you can put that serious size on the outside, that's that's oftentimes differentiator, you know, this is. This is an exciting prospect. We think Georgia is the main threat here. I think it's Miami, right? And that's just me reading, reading the tea leaves here. You know, it's been a while since Georgia has got one of these five stars to stay home. Now, Kirby Smart has certainly done it. But if you want to talk about the shifting landscape in college football recruiting and with the name, image and likeness, you know, these kids are looking around. I mean, Sammy Brown's a guy that that that Georgia really, really wanted, and he ended up at Clemson. So usually you think, hey, with the legacy prospects, it's kind of a fast break layup. And usually it's it's not the case. I would keep an eye on on Miami and Jason Taylor, you know, point of attack focus program. So is Georgia. So is so is Oregon. But they they sunk their teeth in there. They thought they were going to get him back in December before he picked Ohio State. And then the last thing on DJ Jacobs, you know, not in the highest classification there. And, you know, I think it's going to be a tough one. I think it's going to be a tough one. Georgia, but they took on a Milton squad a few weeks ago. They got like a 235 pound quarterback headed to Tennessee and Derek Baker. And, you know, DJ took over that game. And it was, you know, highlight play after highlight play. So someone's going to be getting a good one. No doubt. All right. Let's also go to another prospect who's committed to the Big Ten. And that is Dakota Grant. Top, you know, 247, you know, five star receiver man visits Michigan over the weekend. Didn't see a high flying passing show, but certainly a great atmosphere as Michigan pulls the upset over Oklahoma. You know, he's obviously committed to Oregon, but visiting, you know, visited Michigan. We think Michigan's got a shot here. And what do we like about Dakota? Yeah. I mean, Tom Loy, national insider for 247 sports seems to think so. And, you know, I think what I wrote down here, but is, hey, Michigan's got to figure out this, this passing attack, right? JJ Buchanan, Andrew Marsh, talented players. Those guys have 13 catches. through two games, no other receivers. has caught a pass for Michigan. I don't even know if any of them have been targeted. And you look at Dakota Grant, number one player in the state of Michigan. So this is a guy right in the Wolverines' backyard. Previous staff was in on him. You know, Kyle Whittingham comes in. Michigan thought they were going to get an official visit. Doesn't come to fruition. He picks Oregon. And now they seem to be back and involved. And wide receivers are a really big need for the Wolverines. And, you know, I just rattled off, hey, only 13 catches for the wide receivers. I think a lot of people are going to point to Bryce Underwood. But when I look at that roster, I look at that wide receiver room, it's not deep. And they got one wide receiver. Pop heavy. Yeah. You know, they got one wide receiver committed right now in the class of 2027. So those would be the seniors. And Quentin Burrell, he's been awesome as a senior. A guy that's going to be at the Navy All-American Bowl. But they need to be throwing numbers at this situation. And to me, Dakota Grant reminds me a little bit of Donovan Peoples-Jones, if you remember the former Michigan player. Another guy from the state of Michigan, you know, thick, kind of inside-outside receiver. And what stands out about Dakota, you'll see him here making a bunch of contested grabs. And that was the case all offseason at the OT 7, 7-on-7 tournament. But he heats up after the catch. And he's a guy that is difficult to bring down with his acceleration and his power and his momentum. And, you know, again, Michigan's got to get it, going. So certainly one to monitor here, I think, over the next few months. Especially, you know, we don't know what's going to happen with Oregon and what it looks like coming off that loss to Oklahoma State, just in terms of, hey, you know, is there going to be a coordinator change? Is there going to be a philosophy shift? So Michigan chipping away here. And he could solve, I think, a big problem for Kyle Whittingham and co. And obviously, you mentioned the contested catches and the run-after catch. We don't like when guys are only contested catch. Like, he obviously has the ability to get open, too. And I think some of those, like, after-catch, you know, traits will probably continue to showcase himself as he becomes an even better route runner, too. Like, you know, like, it's usually a red flag if it's just contested catch in high school. I know you know this. I'm just saying this for the audience at home. But, like, the ability to get open and then also when you're not that open to make yourself open by going vertically, by winning those balls, is key. We're going to continue to monitor those, man. All right, back here on the Cover 3 podcast recruiting show with Andrew Ivins, National Director of Scouting for 24-7 Sports. So, Ivins, man, we were talking, you know, pre-show, how awesome that game was there, Ohio State, Texas. You actually saw a lot of the studs from Texas' class in 2025 play quite a bit against Ohio State on Saturday night. Texas obviously looking to pull in, what, their sixth-rate top-ten class under Steve Sarkeesian and Cade Phillips, Lance Jackson, Grayson Littleton, all played, to your notes here, over 40 snaps on defense against Ohio State. Winston had, what, three catches. And it's, if you're going to, hey, these guys out of high school, you kind of got to play them. Otherwise, it's, you know, dead money on your roster for a year. And sometimes it's just opportunity costs that you have to go ahead and absorb, like for the guys that have the crazy upside, but are a little bit raw. But it's good to see, I think, for Texas, some of these young guys playing and making a real meaningful impact early. Absolutely, bud, right? I mean, certainly a variety of different ways to assemble and build a roster that's going to contend for a spot in the college football playoff. And Texas has a bunch of guys and a bunch of transfers out there that are difference-makers. But to me, kind of like one of my takeaways Sunday morning, you know, drinking the coffee, going through the PFF is, man, a lot of those guys from that number one ranked recruiting class two years ago played. I mean, you just highlighted a lot of them. Grayson Littleton, the interception there at the end, man, he was awesome and awesome coming out. And you said it, Texas right now sitting number five in the rankings. And to me, when I look at this group, where's the strength? It's at the point of attack. And we haven't talked about this guy on cover three. We don't normally talk about offensive linemen, but Ismael Kamara, they call him the French freak. This is a kid that was born in France, moved here two years ago. He's the headliner, five-star interior offensive lineman. As a senior now, he is playing kind of a little bit of everything. They use him as an H-back. They use him as a tight end. They use him as a defensive tackle. And, you know, he is 6'5". He is pushing 350 pounds. And this was a huge win. Four of the Longhorns. Oregon was involved. Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M. So basically, all the big spenders wanted the French freak. And he's committed to Texas. He's playing there in East Texas high school football. A guy that's probably going to need some time, right? As he's still learning this game. But the genetics are there in terms of the size. And he's a big, wide individual. When I watch him, what I love is he finishes. You know, as a move blocker, they get him out there, shoot him into space. And he gets guys on the ground. So I love him on offense. I think he's the big headliner there. And then on defense, Kasai Curry. Defensive lineman out of the state of California. Reminds me a lot of one of the current Longhorn defensive tackles. And Hiro Kanu. I saw Kasai two weeks ago down in Florida at the Broward Showcase. Just an instigator there in the middle. Not a lot of guys in the class of 2027 that are built like him. And, you know, something I've realized here over the years is that ever since Texas has moved into the SEC, we see them more in the state of Florida and just recruiting nationally that brand. And I think you can do that when you have a guy like Arch Manning that everyone knows. So impressive group. Starts at the point of attack. And then I also want to give a shout out to the offensive firepower that they have on the way. Not surprising with Steve Sarkeesian pulling the strings there. We've talked about Easton Royal, the five-star wide receiver. He was in Austin over the weekend. LSU's working to flip him. That's a kid that's from there in the boot. And then Landon Williams-Calas, running back, bud. This was the 24-7 sports preseason national player of the year. He's related to former Oregon State running back Jaquez Rogers. This guy entered his senior season with over 7,500 rushing yards. He could finish as the all-time leader in Texas. And you think about the Longhorns, right? We saw Hollywood Smothers. They got Relique Brown there. They like Derek Cooper, the young running back they got. But there's going to be an opportunity for LWC to play in 2027. And as much as we talk about David Gabriel-Georges and Kamon Spell in this class of 2027 with the running backs, Landon Williams-Calas is not far behind them. You see running back number three, number 38 overall. So a lot of potential difference, makers in this group for Texas. And of course, you know, tied in Brock Williams as well. I will say they got another receiver. I know you and I chatted up when we were out at the opening. I just, this kid, when I watched him, he popped up. Bryson Thrower. Is that how we say this guy's name? Bryson Thrower? Get him on the team. Come on, bud. Dude, yeah. Bryson Thrower. I just think this guy has real juice, man. Like he goes up, he makes plays. I think there's something been really there. Obviously our rating, like we're as an, uh, as a company way higher on him than the composite score elsewhere. So clearly we see something in him at 24-7 sports. I just think this guy has serious, serious potential. I would co-sign that. And Bud, this is why we travel around the country and go to camps. And, you know, it's shirts and shorts and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. It's not real football. Bryson Thrower at the opening regional in Dallas, right? It was Memorial Day weekend, last one on the circuit. Didn't really know much about him. Saw him go through like four different releases. And I'm like writing that number down. Who is this individual? He is 6'3", over 6'3", 185 pounds. Now the thing is with Bryson Thrower, as a junior, only had 500 yards receiving, five touchdowns. And you're like scratching your head because it doesn't add up when you see him going through one-on-ones. Well, it turns out, yeah, his high school quarterback as a junior, that was Legend Bay, who is now catching passes for Ohio State and is described as like a Percy Harvin type of weapon for the Buckeyes. So he hasn't maybe been in the best situation to showcase his talent in pads. Now he's off to a good start here as a senior. But, yeah, you know, it feels weird calling the number 21 wide receiver in the country a sleeper. But to me, this is the guy that's not talked about enough in Texas' class. You know, rare size speed combo guy that can get vertical, stack DBs, and then attack that post. So big fan of Bryson Thrower. I'm excited to watch him continue to develop as a senior for sure. All right. And then if they're going to put like a little cherry on top on this class, right, might involve a flip because we know a huge percentage of the top 247 right now in the class of 2027 has already committed these deals, moved fast and furious earlier than they ever have. What about Kentucky linebacker commit Sean Fox? Not to make the Kentucky fans all mad here, but certainly something we know Texas continues to be involved with here. Bud, I love this kid. OKG for 24-7 sports in the scouting department. So we had him at the Navy All-American Bowl back in January, had him at the opening finals in June. That's when he committed to Texas live on the CBS sports set. And so we put him through the ringer multiple times in terms of measuring him. And this is a kid that has added 20 pounds, has grown an inch in like six months. And we list them as a linebacker. That's because he primarily played off the ball. But now as a senior at Warren Central, they got him on the ball. And he's got 35 tackles in four games. And Kentucky has one here. I said it on the set when he picked Will Stein and the Wildcats. Like this guy, bet on the size, figure it out later. And he's only gotten more comfortable in his skin. Kind of reminds me of Greg Russo. If you remember him at Miami. Yeah. That started at safety. Got closer and closer to the line of scrimmage. That's what you want to do with these individuals. And as Manny Diaz told me about Greg Russo, you always bet on the size. So Sean Fox, Kentucky holding on here, Texas involved. I wouldn't be surprised if more of these CFP teams start kind of sniffing around here and trying to pry him away because there's just not a lot of guys with his length that can come around the corner, flatten, and get the quarterback. So we'll see if Kentucky holds on. They certainly. They certainly have plenty of playmakers there in the bluegrass state. But Texas, this would be a nice shot of life into that recruiting class. And what a weekend to have kids on campus. I mean, like you don't start hot, but you finish super strong. Some of the social media clips, it looks like those guys had a time after the game for sure. You know, Cam McGee, the number one player in 2028, was in town. You know, Bryson Wright, number one receiver in 2028, a kid from our backyard here. Florida, you know, Jalen Adai, the number two receiver in 2028 as well. That is what Joseph Adai, there's some relationship to Joseph Adai. Is it his son or? It's his son, bud. And yeah, I think it's a ways away. I think Bryson Wright, Jalen Adai, it's going to be a battle there for wide receiver one. And then, hey, the third rank wide receivers, Jet Harrison, Marvin Harrison's brother. So Jalen Adai, to me, he is a bouncy, bouncy individual. But you're right. You know. We talked about Texas. Hey, top five recruiting class. So this year could be the sixth year in a row. In 2028, the framework is there. It may be potentially, you know, challenged for another number one ranked class if it all comes together. Dude, I'm excited to see what Texas can do. Like, they just showed good fight. You know, and that's not always something I feel like they've shown. And maybe they're really turning a corner with that under Sark. So I'm curious to see, you know, shoot, if they clear, who's better? You know, but then they, for. For, like, the last 20 minutes of that game, they absolutely clicked. We'll hit our second break here. On the flip side, we'll take our medicine. We'll take a look at maybe a guy we missed on who's, you know, like, wish we had that one back, potentially, and why. I'm Andrew Ivins, Director of Scouting for 24-7 Sports. So, 24-7 gets a lot of them right. And this is a hard thing to do. You know, it's not just picking your favorites. You've got to put ratings on damn near every player out there. You know, thousands of kids a year will get a rating. And, you know, even though I think the ratings are awesome and they have real predictive value, occasionally there's somebody who slips through the cracks. And I've always enjoyed kind of going through the why, right? Like, I've got a whole, like, spreadsheet of it going back years. Like, okay, a lot of times it's, you know, hometown. Under 3,000 people. High school, under 500 in enrollment. You know, late growth spurt, post-high school. Like, you know, if we're judging these guys for, like, you know, come NFL draft time. Like, my stuff says, like, it's not really great practice to predict somebody to gain 25% additional body mass after high school. But it does happen sometimes. Like, the late growth spurt guys or the weird birthday guys. Some international kids where it's hard to benchmark, like, exactly what the competition level is. Thankfully, a lot of them come over to, you know, some of the boarding schools. Now, you know, years ago, you really had not much to go off. But we have one here, Ivins. And if you watched Oregon State-Houston, I had over it as a pick for the show in that one. And that hit, thankfully. Just because I wasn't sure about Houston's defense. But you watch it, you're like, damn. Oregon State's quarterback can play. It might be a little bit of a threat in the Pac-12. And they keep spamming this kid named Jesse Legree. Who, you know, wasn't like he was a two-star or a no-star. He was a three-star, right? But right. Right now, he's leading the NCAA in receiving yards, which is pretty solid for a true freshman, and continued to ball out in the rain against Texas Tech over the past weekend. So what's the background we have here on Jesse Legree? Yeah, I put this in the rundown, but I said the missed question mark. I don't know if we missed on Jesse Legree. I will tell you where I missed. When I did the preseason freshman All-American team, I had Jesse Legree on there. I had him on there. I had him on there. And then someone talked me out of it. And that same individual, I think it was second quarter of the Texas Tech game, they texted me and said, yeah, sorry for maybe underselling what Jesse Legree is. This guy is electric, and he was the number 96 ranked athlete for us, three-star recruit. But we had him with a grade of an 86, and that means we thought, hey, power for starter. And Brian Doan at 24-7 Sports actually had a great story. I think it was like three days after signing day. He had a great story about Jesse Legree. He went to St. Francis Academy, one of the most talent-rich programs in the entire country. They had 14 guys sign day one of the early signing period. Jesse Legree was not one of them. That coaching staff there had to work and work and work to find him a spot. Eventually, that new Oregon State staff reached out, hey, we'll take him. And Jesse Legree signed with Oregon State, sight unseen. And from everything I've heard, since he stepped foot on that campus, he has been a difference maker. I think back during spring practices, he had 30 explosive plays. And someone told me the next closest player had 12 explosive plays. So they knew he was going to break out. And a guy that's just maybe, hey, on the smaller side, 5'9 1⁄2", 156 pounds is what we had. Now he was a 4'3 9 guy on the lasers. And going through our notes, Hudson Standish on the scouting team, when we graded him as an 86, right, so we thought he was a power four player with no power four offers. We thought he was going to play corner. That's what he was playing as a junior and then made the switch to wide receiver as a senior. And the game everyone remembers, excuse me, and I had a few college coaches text me about this one, is in the overtime national championship against Corner Canyon. I don't know if you remember that, but it was on ESPN. He had six catches for 65 yards and a touchdown. Also had a kickoff return touchdown and a 40. A punt return touchdown. So, yeah, a guy we probably wish we had a little bit higher, but we knew there was a chance he was going to be electric. And now I think every personnel department around the country probably has the name Jesse Legree on that whiteboard as a potential transfer target. Yeah, this is Oregon State right now. Like start passing the hat now to make sure that they can find a way to hold on to Jesse Legree, which, you know, with NIL, maybe they're able to do so. I will give you guys a 24-7 sports credit. The highest rating on him, you know, by a good bit, 97 on the athlete for 24-7, the industry composite 118, 31 in Maryland, 35 in the composite. So still meaningfully higher than the rest of the industry there. You know, we ain't going to get them all. But look, we've already done our homework and we've already realized where do we miss here? And I remember. I texted him back and forth with some standards the day after that game. Hey, should we make this kid higher? And I don't know. For some reason, we just we just froze up. But man, Oregon State's got one. And certainly one of the better stories here, I think, through two weeks of the college football season. I'm looking trying to pull up on Max Preps the the stats for St. Francis passing because they had a couple of pass catchers last year. Good luck. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But sometimes guys on a Super Bowl. Super loaded team can hide like we we have seen this with Aquinas kids before and you would think the high school is going to play like the best receiver and spam him quite a bit. But sometimes you have, you know, like multiple good, good pass catchers on a team. So the numbers necessarily don't pop from a production standpoint for sure. That was a fun one, man. I'm interested to see shoot once he gets in the Pac-12 play, man, if he stays healthy, you have a field day. Also want to talk about a new find. And if you know about this kid, congrats. You are absolutely one of. Like. The most diehard recruiting fans in the country because I was we're going to talk a class of twenty twenty nine player, which means a guy has several years of high school left. Quite obviously, that's quarterback Ty Snell. Three, you know, in the first three weeks as the starter at Allen High School. Obviously, a lot of good players around Allen. Y'all may know a dude named Kyler Murray, who at one point was a very good quarterback there for Allen High School in Texas. He's beaten Duncanville. He's beat DeSoto and he's beaten South Lake Carroll, as your note here says. They have a combined 15 state title. That's not a bad start, man. What do we love about Ty Snell? Yeah, but I can't believe I'm doing this, but kind of calling my shot here with Ty Snell. And this is a high school sophomore, but I think he is going to be potentially the number one quarterback in this class. And he's going to be a national recruit. He's a kid that already reports over 30 scholarship offers. What is a scholarship offer? I'm just saying traded some text about what he was able to do. Against South Lake Carroll, I think a lot of schools are going to push all the chips in for Ty Snell. And he's the number two quarterback for us, like I said. When we ranked him there, he didn't start any varsity games last season. He backed up a senior at Allen High School that ended up signing with Florida Atlantic. What I saw against South Lake Carroll, given his age and he's age appropriate in that class, one of the best performances, one of the best games I have seen from a sophomore, just his ability. To get the ball out time, deliver from a variety of different platforms, get it around the yard. And then I think some of his best stuff came on the move with his balance, with his precision on the run. So very, very encouraging. Through three games, he's completed 71.4% of his passes. You said it, 638 yards, nine touchdowns and just two interceptions. We loved what we saw from him on the camp circuit. Again, though, we need someone. Some like on-field context, you know, to be a football recruit, to be a football player, you've got to actually play football. Well, we have seen it now from Ty Snell. I don't think anyone in the country has had a good of a start to a sophomore season. You know, the quarterback ranked ahead of him, C.J. Cypher. He has been just as productive through the air. I think there's maybe a little bit more to Ty Snell, but hey, you know, C.J. Cypher, he's already committed to Miami. Sounds like he might jump eventually into the class of 2028. And I think when that happens, Ty Snell is going to be quarterback one for us in the class of 2029. And he was at Texas A&M on Saturday talking with Tom Loy, who just spoke with Ty Snell. Ohio State's in there. Oregon's in there. Tennessee's in there. USC's in there. He camped there in Los Angeles this summer. So I know it's early, but a name to know, Ty Snell. He's got the prototypical frame, super clean, you know, mechanics, footwork, all that stuff. And a guy to certainly start getting familiar. Because you're going to be hearing a lot about him over the next two years. And it's not just some of the physical here. Like, the ball is out on time. He seems to, I mean, these are highlights, so we're going to showcase the good plays. But a lot of these good plays are as a result of him seeming like understanding where the ball is supposed to go, getting it on time. Like, it's not just, hey, this guy's a freak athlete. He runs around. He launches the ball down the field some, which, you know, is awesome. But also, there's a lot more development that has to go. It's just, like, pretty polished stuff from a 29, man. It is, bud. And, you know, I've been watching a lot of senior quarterbacks. You know, I'm talking, like, full game breakdowns. And then you just flip on Ty Snell, and you're like, whoa, okay. Like, this gets me a little bit excited. Arrows pointing up, or maybe some of the others, the arrows pointing down. So, yeah. I would agree, advanced is probably a word I would use. Now, still some things to clean up, and, you know, a lot can change. But I think he's going to fill into that 6'3 frame. And the anticipation, the timing, it's there right now, and that's what you want to see. No doubt about it. All right, let's hit our final break here on the flip side. time player for old miss guy they retained obviously in the offseason everybody wanted him almost went to battle and were able to keep him there in oxford if old miss can spring the you know very small upset obviously the the spread here is on under three as we speak if they can spring that upset this weekend eckles disrupting the interior defense or the interior offensive line uh of lsu is probably going to play a pretty prime factor what do you love about him looks like he's gonna get some accolades too man yeah but i think we're two for two in this space right it was it was lincoln keen holes week one camario super mario taylor week two will eckles here is is like the guy i i have circled appointment viewing this weekend obviously a spotlight game here but this is a kid uh that unique story with him bud uh he finished as the number one player in the state of mississippi for us in in the uh in the 2024 cycle and he was a two-way guy at the point of attack he played on both sides of the line everyone viewed him as a defensive lineman but we needed a spot at the last second on the offensive line for uh the navy all american bowl and i remember messaging will uh a week like a week before the game he just got done with the alabama mississippi game and i said hey we got a spot would you come down and just play some guard for us and he said absolutely showed up um and and held his own all week during practices i mean we i don't know what he graded out but he didn't look out of place and it's just funny to me bud with where we are now agents in this space you know this guy's not gonna work out here this guy's not gonna run here he's gonna shut it down he's gonna shut it down he's gonna shut it down look will eccles he's in the latest cbs sports mock draft they have him going number 10 overall right number 10 overall to to the new york giants and this is a kid that always wanted to compete would play out of position uh before he started classes there uh at old miss and it's just been fun to see his rise we're always convicted on him you know cooper protagna had a big role in his evaluation he's an outlier for us and just an awesome human and a guy that can get after the quarterback when he needs to i mean dude uh also had a pretty nice mississippi alabama all-star game for sure and to your point yeah uh 77th nationally got him inside the top 100 industry consensus was 135 so uh you know definitely like pretty meaningfully higher than everybody else there on that one on that one and that's something we're always looking for in in the trench players right and and certainly every situation is different some of these powerhouses these guys aren't going to go you know both ways but i think it's going to but if you can find an offensive lineman getting two-way snaps you can find a defensive lineman getting two-way snaps that's usually a key indicator of success and specifically with this lsu matchup we've talked about deuce gerald's the the true freshman interior defensive lineman for the tigers you know he ran for 500 yards dublin as a running back there uh as a uh you know as a senior in high school lamar brown the one of the other prize freshmen for the tigers i could have been iol one in the class of of 2026 so just you know a little little nugget of of what we kind of want if we can find it doesn't happen all the time but um the big boys that aren't leaving the field usually those ones are are ready to hit the ground running and that was the case with with will eckles and the guys who like to play football like the the the devo the diva lineman they work out sometimes like some of them are just freaking out that it does still work out but like he you gotta like the guys actually are willing to get in there and mix it up for sure i i'm curious this weekend because you know old miss thought it had kind of fixed its secondary with some of its portal additions and and some better health uh going into the year which maybe they have uh against louisville i don't know if we can definitively say that all the secondary stuff was solved but you know lane certainly gonna be trying to scheme those explosives for lsu and um man if old miss front can actually meaningfully disrupt what lsu has going on maybe you put one extra you know guy back in coverage maybe make uh you know make levis or not levis um why am i blanking on the lsu well no i will but um uh the lsu's quarterback um levitt levitt excuse me i said levis for a second that was that was dumb uh if you make levis actually drive and be consistent on you like maybe you have a little better shot so at eckles he may be like the most key non-quarterback in this game ball knowers bud we'll we'll see we'll see what he's able to do on on saturday
