Recruiting Show: LSU Class Is Heating Up: 5-Star Targets, Flip Candidates & MORE

What's going on y'all, Bud Elliott here of the Cover Free Podcast. And this is the Cover Free Recruiting Show. It's Andrew Ivens, director of Scouting for 24/7 Sports. Drew, what's going on, man? Not much, Bud. Hey, week one in the books. Man, did it, did it certainly deliver, right? No doubt, man, that was, that was exciting. And like, my hope for next year is we get a little better action like midday and in afternoon as well. But like the nighttime that the, it brought the fireworks for sure. And the right kind of fireworks. Not the Rutgers shooting off a bunch of fireworks. So if you're losing the UMass type. But it really stand out to you from the weekend that like, you're like, whoa. Q&A Russell, phase in Brandon, leaking kind of holes. Hey, we talked about all three of them. I thought encouraging performances for them. So that's sent out to me. And just the, I think youth movement kind of around the country. I mean, certainly, I've a variety of different ways to assemble these rosters, but at the end of the day, you know, some of the biggest difference makers were homegrown out of high school. And a lot of them on the field early. So I think that's a big takeaway for me. The other thing, the parity in terms of, you know, the distribution of talent. I think that continues to show up game to game conference to conference. So I don't know, those are some things that jump out to me. I agree, man, let's dive in here for A block. Let's do a little class check in on a team that we talked about a lot last week. We're going to double dip them. Now, Lane Kiffin, we know the portal king and all that stuff. But they're also really doing a great job in high school, which is, you know, and this will make a small Miss fans mad. And I somewhat agree and somewhat disagree with him. But like, he kind of talked about like, that's why you go to LSU. It's because you can just get a different level of high school player there for whatever reason. And they're kind of killing it. After taking down Clemson 51 to 10 in front of a lot of recruits, obviously, what are your thoughts on their class so far? I think there's some work left to do, right? So they're sitting number 10 in the 24/7 sports team rankings, but out of all the teams in the top 25, they have the second least amount of current verbal commits. And where my mind goes right away is, okay, these guys are going out the spatula, flip season, and that lead up to the signing day, right? Early signing period in December. And, you know, they make a statement on Saturday night. The game everyone's watching. It was quite the environment there in Death Valley in terms of the celebrities. And obviously it was a huge recruiting section, but just having covered Lane and followed what he's done in the recruiting front. I mean, but don't forget not too long ago. He was wearing the Mary Flippness sweater when he was at Ole Miss. I think LSU is going to get this thing going. And I think there's a chance they have an opportunity to push into the top five of the recruiting rankings. And yeah, they're going to continue to supplement it with guys in the transfer portal. So to me, I see number 10, pound for pound, this is a strong class, but there's an opportunity for them to go out and get some other difference makers. And I think LSU, Lane Kiffin, LSU, that staff, they've got to be looking their chops just knowing what's ahead. No doubt about it. I mean, just the amount of buzz around them right now, I think that's a place that people want to be. Last year's class, heavy on the deepest side of the ball, we talked about that a lot. I saw Doose Gerald's getting the game quite a bit, Richard Anderson as well. Some mixed results, some good plays, and also some, oh, man, that guy is certainly a freshman, which I think you would kind of expect from some of his defensive linemen. This year, though, much more offensive for Lane Kiffin, a lot of good running backs. They also have the quarterback commit who look pretty good at all the showcase stuff and puts up big time numbers in high school. Yeah, I think the two, the strength of this class is that running back group. So they got three of them committed. And I would argue this is the best running back hall in the country right now. Two of them inside the top two, four, seven. Another one kind of knocking on the door. So it's Tray Martin, an in-state kid, David Saguera at a South Carolina, and then Brennan Lacey from the state of Texas. And they all kind of complement each other well. And after watching what LSU did to Clemson on Saturday night, I mean, they ran the ball. They wanted to run the ball. Who was kind of the bell cow. It was Dylan Jones, a transfer in from Wisconsin. I love that kid coming out of high school. He was running back 10 for us. I think in the 2024 cycle, he had a huge wrestling background. I thought I always thought it was a bit surprising. He wasn't getting more burn there at Wisconsin. So a bit validating to see him do it in a spotlight game like that. And I bring up Dylan Jones because Tray Martin to be very similar type of player, similar measurables. A guy that just is consistently finishing runs. And he can also be utilized as a pass catcher. So to me, he's kind of the most complete of that trio. But the David Saguera kid out of South Carolina. Super, super unique player, his background. This is a kid that was involved in like US youth soccer, national team stuff at an early age. He's also a wrestler, right? So I said Dylan Jones, wrestler. Okay, David Saguera wrestler, you can see that. Those guys are attack leverage as a runner. He's more of kind of a battering ram. You know, 215 pounds already. Kind of reminds me of Daniel Hill there at Alabama, that bigger back. And then finally, the print and lacy kid. This kid's got a ton of tread left on the tires. Like he is, I don't think his career, high careries in high school is like 11. So he's not a guy that's been driven into the ground already. And you know, not a ton of production, but the flashes are there. So really like what LSU is doing at running back. And we've seen it, you know, these committee approaches, get these guys involved super, super early. And I think it was a focus for LSU. And again, love the group and what they've done thus far as seniors in high school. I mean, I also just love wrestlers. Like if you're a wrestler, like generally you are tough, right? Like you can fight this adversity. That is a hard sport to play. Like it's not really like a vanity sport. And they almost always have like great core, great core abilities and great balance. Like you don't see a lot of wrestlers with bad balance. Like if they end up on the ground, it's kind of because they, you know, they wanted to go there. That's awesome. I trace a wrestler there. I love that. Peyton Houston, by the way, quarterback for LSU. Really interesting tape too. Like in watching this, I know we've talked about this guy who's getting more athletic. Like they're, their offense is kind of funky from a valuation standpoint. It's not a, not a knock, but it's just like that looks like kind of like a modified point formation within being that deep in the shotgun. And then he makes it work pretty well. Yeah, but, but I've been buzzing kind of like all the, the top quarterbacks in this 2027 cycle, right? Watching the full games. And I think I got the most excited about what Peyton Houston did this weekend. Now, Evangel Christian, they end up losing the Westman row. But what I saw from Peyton, it was electric and explosive. I mean, full speed, his ability to process and make decisions. He does it so much faster than everyone else. And you mentioned it's a bit of a funky offense. They kind of use this deep shotgun. But at the same time, it kind of showcases Peyton's arm talent. He had a 39 yard touchdown pass where the ball traveled 59 yards through the air because he was, you know, that far behind the Linus Grim engine. It was into the back of the end zone. I thought it was super encouraging. He brought a, him as an athlete. He ran for over a hundred yards, four to yards, passing five total touchdowns. Would have been a lot more if it hadn't been for some costly fumbles by some of his teammates or some drops in there as well. But I thought this was everything we want to see for out of a quarterback that we really liked over the summer. And he was the alpha dog at the opening finals for us. So there were some of the elite 11 quarterbacks were there. And look, here's the reality. Peyton Houston isn't the biggest guy. He's under 5/11. He's got smaller hands. You know, red numbers across the board. But he continues to show that he is an elite distributor of the football. He's a dynamic point guard. That's how I would describe him. But you know, you watch what he did this past week. It kind of reminds me of trying to have a chance. You think about, you think about, hey, Lane Kiffin, what he was able to do at Ole Miss with Trinidad. I think he's got another one on the way in Peyton Houston. And you know, so far so good for him. Extremely encouraging what we saw week one of his senior campaign. And that fast processing, I get just. Trinidad just sees it quickly and then it's not a long stride. It's not a long wind up. It's just like, you know, bang your dead, right? And it's just there. Peyton had this throw in that Westman row game where, you know, he's got the coverage going this way. All sun sees it, throws it back the other way and bang, touch down. You know, it's just. Those guys see their habit or they don't. And you know, it's odd, but honestly, it's kind of hard to identify that stuff on tape. So when you see it, like, you're going to invest as much as you can just at the high school level. So yeah, I mean, full speed processor, like that's how I kind of describe it. And then again, what he was able to do with his legs in that game. I go back to the opening regional New Orleans made you were down there. Peyton Houston, you want to talk about like a business like mindset. He tested and I think four different pairs of cleats. And then, you know, he almost broke four seconds in the short shuttle. So this is a guy that probably doesn't get enough credit for his ability to move around the pocket and extend plays. All right, so we got a sleeper here in this class. I think LSU made, they made got something here. for it receiver. - Yeah, and LSC, I mean, why do receiver you? You can make the case with that. And this is a kid that the scouting department at 24/7 sports, like we're closely monitoring him as a senior. And but he's one of these boundary receivers that can win on the outside, right? He's excellent in the red zone. He's excellent when the field has been shortened just with his coordination, his hands, his concentration, back shoulder grabs. You know, we can play above opponent shoulder pads. Now we see the fastest individual probably not. But he has fluid. He's got good spatial awareness. And kind of the more we watch with Kade Cooper, the more you realize he's gonna have a chance to make an impact on Saturdays. Kind of reminds me a little bit of Eugene Hilton there at Wisconsin, right? T.Y. Hilton's son, just watching him on Sunday in that Notre Dame Wisconsin game. But LSU's got three wide receivers committed right now in this class. We're trying to stack them in Kade Cooper's guy that certainly I can see, you know, making an impact on Saturdays. And then we'll see what he's able to do beyond that. But really good find for them. And I think the other note here is, like LSU's up there recruiting in Pennsylvania. It's been a while since we've seen them kind of expand that far out. But at the very least, Lane Kip and LSU extending and offering to take it to Kip, but from a Pennsylvania three star receiver, certainly got to continue to monitor him to see if they maybe found something there. Somebody who doesn't need a lot of additional scouting, but again, this show is more for the casuals and we want to embrace the recruiting casuals, right? 'Cause there's a lot of college ball die hearts who are recruiting casuals. We'd like them to become recruiting die hearts as well and check out all of Andrew's great work over 24/7 sports. But Eastern Royal five star receiver, current Texas commit. But LSU may not be done here. What do we got on him? - Yeah, but I mean, we talk about flip season, right? And we are entering it and Eastern Royal's kid right there in New Orleans, brother Martin, high school. He has been linked to LSU. I mean, probably since he was 12 years old, back in the days on the youth leagues and commits early to Texas. I mean, if you read Mike Roge, Tom Loey at 24/7 sports, they continue to suggest, I think Roach's words on Monday morning after Eastern Royal was in Tiger Stadium on Saturday. Was in there, taken in the scene. Is the smart money is on LSU? But at the same time, Texas Steve Sarkiesian, they've gotten a lot out of these wide receivers and in turn of how they use them. So this is a recruitment to track over the next three months, especially both of these teams continue to keep winning. And yeah, we are in the compensation era. There's a lot of packages out there. There's a lot of numbers being thrown around. But here's the reality. I mean, both of these schools want this individual. I don't think it's going to come down to $8 sign in terms of who's going to compensate Eastern Royal Lord. But he's a game breaker. Might be the fastest man ever to come out of Louisiana. He doubled at the Louisiana 5-8 track me this spring. Yeah, he won the 100 and the 200. Shattered a 46-year-old record. Oh, and he did it in the pouring rain. He is a thick, thick inside receiver. Yet I'm almost 215 pounds at the opening finals. But he can roll and I kind of love the comp from Gabe Brooks, the national recruiting analyst, compares him to OBJ a little bit. So certainly wanted to kind of monitor. And again, I said it, right. What does this win do for LSU when it comes to talent acquisition? I think it makes it a little bit easier to sell Eastern Royal on the Lane Kiffin lead Tigers. They're also going to play a little bit of defense, though. Five start tied in, and Mod Hudson, the guy that other schools continued to pursue pretty heavily. Yeah, and Heat 2 was at the LSU game on Saturday night. And but I think it was a year ago when we were doing this last fall. We kind of brought up a Mod Hudson and how unique is. And I would encourage everyone to check out the story that Eric Bossy on the 24/7 sports basketball side wrote about a Mod Hudson a few weeks ago. A mod has a chance to be the best two sport prospects since Ronald Curry back in 1998. So we rank him as 18 overall in the class of 2027. Number one tied in, the basketball guys and as the number 17 overall basketball prospect. This is a kid that wants to play both sports in college, LSU. Tons of ties there. They like to open things right now in basketball. And I'm not sure you've been following these developments here, Evans. Yeah, and I traded as green the tie-down for some minutes for the Tigers at some point. But Nebraska is the one school that has given a mod Hudson a lot to think about. And I'm never going to bet on LSU against LSU for an in-state kid, but he continues to kind of show up there in Lincoln. When I was there two summers ago, a mod Hudson was there for a camp. They've told him he can play basketball as well. I think at the end of the day, LSU is going to get this one done. But certainly another one to kind of just monitor. Because to me, I think a mod has great of a football prospect as he is. I always get the vibe that maybe he likes basketball a little bit more, which is wild because when you watch the tape, this is a guy that is a true in-line, wide-tight end. Like he will stick his nose in the fan as a blocker. So certainly just a unique talent. And but I mean, you know, the Ronald Curry one is before my time. I've been trying to think of other like two sport guys. I mean, it has been a while since the first two summers. Same school there, Iverson, who was always going to be a hooper, I think, but like was a really good high school quarterback at least. Shoot, there's got to be more like Pablo Bencero with the magic. I mean, he was he was a quarterback at one point, Anthony Black, who's also on the magic. I guess he was a wide receiver at one point. He's just been like a wild sense. Who is the guy who played like quarterback and basketball for Duke? This would have been like 10 or 12 years ago. Somebody in the chat, Ron Paulus, maybe. Yes, I think so. Yeah, not Paulus. Paulus was the was Notre Dame quarterback in like the 90s, right? I know here talk, but I do not have their their name in front of me. I mean, I remember Tray Donaldson, who I think was with Auburn. I mean, he was a football recruit. I mean, SEC wanted him. We've seen some baseball ones as well. But I mean, again, like Charlie Ward. You know, he's in trophy and, you know, New York Knicks for like a decade. Well, bossy brought up brought up with with Ronald Kareem. So McDonald's all American and basketball. And he was someone's national player of the year in high school football. So that's that's that is pretty wild. Man. So we'll continue to monitor here how LSU does in his high school class. And that is a great breakdown right there. If you're an LSU fan, make sure you give us a like and follow us on the channel. We'll probably talk a lot more LSU this year. Got we're going to step into the trade lab and talk about some some measurables we use kind of getting the analytics a little bit and identify some guys who've shown that in the past. And also some up and coming recruits are going to show it to us now. Welcome back here to the cover three recruiting podcast with Andrew Ivans. So let's step into the trade lab and we use a lot of different measurables at 24/7 sports. Basically, I think you've been really head of the curve on this. What do you got for us today? Well, but you said, all right, like what is one of your big takeaways? I didn't want to nerd out and like, they'll be a opener. As I sat on my couch for five days and watch games, I noticed a lot of the guys making explosive plays around the country week one where part of what we call the over 22 under 11 club. And what is that? All right. So over 22 means you clear 22 feet in the long jump and then under 11 is under 11 seconds in the 100 meter dash. And you would think, all right, there's probably so many of these athletes out there every year. And there's there's really not. I think of the UC report database, you know, we're talking under like 150 guys that are actually playing FBS football. So it's a it's a small, small fraternity, but in week one, right? It's according more at Oregon, you get a 62 yard touchdown catch. I'd say it's a tanga at Oklahoma 88 yard punt return touchdown. Trey Richardson for Louisville, he had a 62 yard touchdown catch. Marquis Johnson, 70 yard touchdown catch at Mississippi State. Malcolm Simmons had a 64 yarder for Texas Tech. And you know, there's others in the club. It's not just the receivers, Koy Perich, KJ Bolden, J. Timmons, Isaac Brown at Louisville, Terry Bussey, Reed Harris, Evan Stewart. It goes on and on. So it's it's this small club. But to me, like one of my big week one takeaways is, okay, these are the guys that are creating the explosives consistently in a variety of different offenses. And usually they are maybe the biggest individual, but man, the acceleration and, you know, they can shoot out there extremely fast. So those were the, that was a big takeaway week one, hey, this, this over 22 under 11, you know, something that we're looking for because it's not a math equation, right? If you still have to play football, we can't just throw a bunch of track guys out there, but those guys certainly answer the call week one. And Ivan's what stands out to me just thinking. taking back specifically to those touchdowns over the weekend, right? With everybody playing so much more to shell now, and trying to deny the explosive play over the top, a lot of those were catching run. Like guys who can get on it and bust it from a dead stop, or they'll take a comeback, spin out, and just be gone. Obviously, you saw the awesome moves that DeCorean put up there. It was a Tania as well. Straight Richardson was, I believe a catch and run down the sideline there. - He had a 30 yard run as well. - Yeah, I mean, the guys who could catch a ball underneath, which increasingly I think is where the ball is being funneled by defenses as they realize, man, the analytics are not allowing the explosive over the top. Really, it's a boring way to watch football, but it is an efficient way to play football. The ability to actually hit explosives from underneath is really important. So I know you got a couple guys circled here, who actually meet this this year. Let's go through these. First one up, Ossani Gales, Alabama commit, who, you know, you and I being in Florida, he's an IMG, this dude's got some juice, man. He is fun. - Yeah, the player comp for him is Mackay Lemon, right? So he's at IMG Academy, and I think a lot of viewers, a lot of listeners think, all right, IMG Academy, you know, these wide receivers, like they get the ball all the time, and that is actually not the case. You know, go back to Parnell Tate, who wrapped up at IMG Academy. He was a guy that never had a thousand yard season, right? So you really have to get out and evaluate these individuals. And Ossani Gales is someone that, you know, we've seen a play a ton of seven on seven, ton of private workouts, and I'm a huge believer on him. I mean, you see him right there, kind of knocking on the door of five-star status. Through three games, but this kid's got 14 catches, 261 yards, and three touchdowns. I think he's an elite separator, an elite route runner. You mentioned it, right? Can he take one of these underneath routes and find painter, and that has been the case through the first few games there at IMG Academy. A kid that's originally from California, Alabama beat out Washington back during the summer months. I'm talking with Tom Loey, who's been all over this recruitment, you know, national inside of 24/7 sports. He thinks you've got to continue to watch Washington here in that recruitment. And obviously Husky's big win over the weekend there in the Apple Cup. But yeah, this is a guy that isn't doing track now at IMG 'cause they don't have that multi-sport participation, but what he was able to do in high school. And I think about him in a Kalindabor attack. I mean, this is a guy that is gonna produce some chump plays. So he is one of the over 22 under 11 club here in the 20/27 cycle. - All right. I didn't think we'd have to talk about four states today in the show, give it one last night. But, you know, all right, well, I guess money next, we released the show on Wednesday. Sean Green, Camden County, Georgia, powerhouse program there in the Peach State. What do we like about him? - The same thing, right? State Qualifier and like the 100, 200 and long jump as a junior there, and one of the higher classifications in the Peach State, heck of a start to his senior season. 14 catches, 284 yards, and five touchdowns. So that's over 20 yards per catch as a senior. And it's the same thing. You know, they find him ways to get the ball in space. And when he finds that runway, I mean, good luck catching him. And, you know, yeah, obviously not the ideal Monday night there for Florida State, but Mike Norvel and that offense. I mean, they try to get those guys the opportunity and McKay-Banzi, one of the Florida State's wide receivers. He was also in this same club here. So he's been a fun one. And, you know, a lot of schools were in on him early. Florida State's the one that made the biggest move. I'm interested to see, okay, as the season progresses. And maybe there's some turnover, some change there in Tallahassee. Does someone look to add one of these explosive playmakers in Sean Green? But, you know, he's certainly got talent. Has always been a favorite of mine. I remember watching him out of camp two years ago. And it's one of those kids where you're checking the roster. And you're like, I don't know who this is, but he continues to make plays. So I definitely wanted to give Sean Green a shout out here. And the final guy here, Tori Pittman, his dude, who I had in my notes from the Battle Miami camp, like as a safety, like this guy was all over the place, man. Just like closing distance quickly. And it makes sense. He's a 22-11 guy, like the committed in Nebraska. He's from Nebraska. Look at that. Yeah, yeah. And, uh, safety is in these receivers are where we see the most of the 22-11s, all right. So I brought up Koi Parach and KJ Bull. Then Tori Pittman, you know, I was watching Trey Taylor, right? So the Nebraska quarterback commit in his week one game. It was Miller North and Tori Pittman was all over the field. I think it's six tackles, a pass break up, two-touch downs on offense. I mean, this guy, it sounds so simple, but range, range, range, range. But this guy can get to every, like, little quarter of the field. And AAU is where he made his mark in the long jump. He's continued to run track there in the state in Nebraska. You know, there are a lot of parallels to me of Xavier and O'Wampke, kind of maybe the last blue chip safety out of that, you know, Midwest region. And, you know, he was a 5 star. I know, you know, he wasn't drafted, but he did just make the Kansas City Chiefs, 53 man roster as a UDFA. So I want to give a shit out to Xavier. And, uh, yeah, Tori, I think he's, he's a problem solver, right? With this safety position, a guy that can clean up some mistakes. So, uh, Nebraska, it seems like we keep talking about their recruiting class, um, that rule, you know, this is a big get for them. All right. Let's go ahead and hit our final break. Er, well, second, final break here, second, final, good lord. Second, the last break here. And we'll, and next we're going to talk about a kind of under the radar find that you guys were on early, you know, other schools are on early as well with a cool name. So we come back. We'll unveil who it is. All right. Back here on the cover three recruiting show at Andrew Eibens, director of scouting for 24/7 sports. Man, it is fun when you find a kid, and they're like, oh, he's got like no offers or he's got like some very low offers like, am I missing something here? Like, sometimes you're not missing anything. Sometimes you're just first, right? And it is certainly a guy that, you know, I know 24/7 was on early and, uh, tell us about Antoine Cornbread Adams. Well, first off, he has the best nickname in the in the class of 2028. And I think we've mentioned this previously, right, you know, without accelerated recruiting has gotten. Yeah, sure. There's some schools that are making a senior evaluations as in that run up to signing day. But a lot of programs, a lot of departments, they've already shifted to the juniors, the high school juniors and trying to, you know, get the foundation in place or build out the foundation of those recruiting classes. And Antoine Cornbread Adams is a kid that has picked up offers in the past week from Oregon and Texas A&M. Now, he is a, a two way playmaker, right? So, uh, gets it done at, at wide receiver and gets it done at safety. You'll see him on the screen right here, also getting it done on, on special teams as a, as a kick-returner, played a sophomore year in the state of Mississippi. Now he's at Baylor there in, in Tennessee and through three games. I mean, this guy has been awesome, uh, but I think the big debate is going to be, where do you play him? I know Ole Miss and some other schools like him on offense. I have a hunch that Oregon and Texas A&M given what they do in the secondary with their safeties. They like him on defense. Um, this guy, it's almost in the, in the 22/7/11 club, but to, to me, on defense, just how he flows to the football, uh, you'll see him right here, open field tackler. He gets it done and what's funny, but as I was watching a game and I had him confused for a senior wide receiver, uh, that's committed to play Tennessee, just kind of similar builds on them, similar numbers, got, was confused on, you know, what helmet I was looking at. So, I think he could get it done on, on offense, uh, ceiling to me is higher on defense, give me those guys on defense, but cornbread atoms, I mean, heck of a nickname. Like he's one where, you know, sometimes blood you go on these school sites and you're like, wait, when did this kid change his name to, you know, like, cool eight or, or juice? Like wherever he signs, please just, we can list them as cornbread atoms because it's, uh, it's certainly a fun one. It's gotta be an NIL deal, a meat, like if he's a star, like what, whatever the big cornbread brand is, like, it needs to be part and up with him, you know, right now, like that, that is, like the way he closes the distance there is, is pretty impressive. Like the, you know, if you look at the one clip where he's, he's got, he, he gets the quarterback, but he also has to keep leverage on, on, on the, uh, on the bubble there and like, like, really does a great job, but I was, that's, that's, that's a good find, man, that's, that's a cool second. We keep doing this, we, we like to show love to these guys, you know, who are continuing to improve his seniors and, you know, like, some of my research shows, like, some of these guys just slipped through the, through the cracks for the guys who do, you know, kind of more breakout as a senior, um, also guys who, I tried to remember the actual population, but I think it was from like, hometown under 3000 people, right? So it makes it a more difficult evaluation if you've never seen the kid in person, like, because sometimes the competition is a little bit sketch, you know, I spent like, they don't verify, you know, testing times and obviously, you know, he, he does, uh, thankfully for us, but, um, and then also guys who transfer, like multiple times, like, I think that's probably not a positive thing in general, but sometimes like, you can slip through the cracks a little bit if you're like a three school and four, in four years type high school, or which is, uh, kind of a sentence. I think you probably have never been able to say up until the past couple of years when these guys transfer, you know, nonstop now, but, uh, uh, uh, sometimes when the evaluation starts with at 4th app. fourth high school in four years it's it's it's normally not a good thing. But in the case of you know cornbread adips going to the Baylor school there in Tennessee like you know what that some of those boarding schools have done up there it's you know they continue to add talent and talent and right now cornbread adips for us you know he's not 96 in the class of 2028 rankings right so those are the juniors this is a guy that's going to certainly scale up and again I think as you know schools kind of build out their you know wish list when it comes to recruiting I mean this is one where the CFP contenders are are going to have him circled so keep an eye on where I think he visits you know over the next few months in terms of that'll give you an idea of what schools are involved and like again what's going to be fascinating to me with him all right almost like something receiver does he want to play receiver or does he you know what it'll be in the secondary summer as well because we've also seen that defensive backs are getting paid a lot of money in the NFL these days yes they are all right we'll hit our final break here and on the flip side let's talk a little current college guys a little preview of a game I think we're both really excited to watch this weekend look at that and of course Paramount has UFC now which is fantastic as well speaking of being company men on CBS 330 pretty fun one here I was we have Mississippi State traveling to Minnesota like a lot of guys from this that we are really excited to talk about probably not more though then Camario Taylor who I know you and I both loved out the elite 11 and like that was what two elite 11s ago Mississippi State quarterback this guy's got some serious juice to him I call him a lottery ticket yeah and yeah you said we we loved him at the elite 11 finals I think we love them on day three because day one and day two it was kind of cover your eyes and maybe just see where the football goes and for those not familiar Camario Taylor what you were just talking about bud from from a small town smaller school there in Mississippi I mean this guy was extremely raw coming out but as a senior he really turned it on and he finishes Mississippi's 3a mr football there went 11 and 3 as a senior you know let his team to his third straight appearance in the state championship game but he passed from his 3,000 yards ran for 1200 yards and you know every time I saw him I just thought the game slowed down a little bit more a little bit more and I think what a lot of people forget about Camario and kind of his journey he picked Mississippi State over a UCF program that was led by Gus Malzahn and you think about some of these quarterbacks Gus had you know during his days at Auburn that was the initial recruitment so Mississippi State won that and then down the stretch in November right before signing day Georgia actually threw an offer in there for Camario Taylor and we're trying to flip him I don't know if a visit actually ever happened I bud always thought like very interesting relationship marriage between him and Jeff Levy but you look at what Camario did last year you know it was kind of package duty package duty starts the egg bowl and then what he did in week one and man this guy starting to figure it all out it's all come together I mean he is super sized and he can throw the football around the yard he can rip it all over the field I mean you look at him and it's like oh if he hits he's like no one overall traffic potential like now the the if is doing a lot of work there there's no doubt like last year as a passer he had negative EPA on dropbacks right so they're like there's work to be done but I think in week one just showed off the arm talent was ridiculous and I do wonder if he's a guy who would have been on more radars had he not been hurt as a sophomore in high school which I should correct because when I was on CBS I I misspoke and said senior not sophomore I wouldn't hear if they're in New York shooting the other preseason special and I got some feedback from state fans so apologies guys it is a little hard to do live TV constantly but I wanted to get that right I also like the accuracy improved like a little bit but also even though he's never been like a really high percentage passer he doesn't throw a lot of picks you know like like oftentimes you see a guy's 57 or 58 or 59 percent passer in high school and he's got like a two and a half to one I mean Camario was 48 and 5 and then 46 like he doesn't seem to actually like the his ball does not seem to end up in the hands of defensive backs very often which for guys maybe not the most precision of passers is is kind of important and honestly yeah and I think the other thing is like to this guy's built like a linebacker I mean you just saw the footage of them there uh in high school I mean you get around him he looks like a looks like a defensive end and um yeah I mean I regret not having him higher he finishes quarterback eight for us right so that was 80th overall in the country that's like a round three type of projection um but really you know behind the scenes down the stretch I was like man this this guy like he's intoxicating the more and more you watch him but the other thing too what's cool about this game Saturday right Cooper Patagon who is with CBS Sports and 24/7 Sports made him we're talking uh at the beginning of the season like are there any league pass teams out there and what do we mean by that like just you know like personnel sick of teams to watch and Minnesota and Mississippi State were two of these teams that instantly came to mind for us you know the other quarterback in the game Drake Lindsay uh a guy that you know we had is a a very high three star prospect Hudson Sandwich on our scouting team loved him Anthony Smith the edge rusher for Minnesota like I would just encourage anyone watching this game to kind of go through the 2v before and there are some playmakers on on both sides of the ball you know PJ Fleck and what Jeff Levy have been able to do you want to talk about the distribution of talent uh there are NFL players I think all over the field now they might not be day one guys but there's certainly guys are going to be seen playing on Sundays probably the second best quarterback matchup of the weekend I think with arch and Julian I probably the top spot there I would have to say for textile I was like this is going to be fun I I like Hayden Moore a lot too at uh yes from from Gainesville at Minnesota I've a buddy's an NFL scout and he was out at Minnesota's practice he's like hey this true freshman Hayden Moore like he's he's got all of something to him man now I've been to to to to cut you some slack on not getting comario higher higher you did bump him you know like from like 90 to 92 93 to a 95 which is a tremendous rating the next 10 guys you bumped him over no shade Matt dollars Julian Lewis AJ Hill Bryce Baker Adam Schoble Ryan Montgomery Achilles Smith Luke Nichol George McIntyre tie Hawkins that's like you want him over those guys now the only guys in front of him I think also you can argue as prospects and again like this is the benefit of hindsight now but as prospects drawn kiabe second potele pretty sure you got that one right as really how high grade you know doosnight who we'll see you know maybe the the air apparent there uh Malik Washington really nice freshman year for Maryland you know Long Street who's now at LSU tabian saying clear who you know is he next in line to Ohio State I guess we'll find out yeah I guess we'll find out right yeah right uh Keel and Russell who you know pretty uh pretty solid and the Bryce Underwood who has not seemed to you know hit yet at Michigan but high school wise was unbelievable so it'd be hard to like really you know knock him based on the based on the information we had at the time I guess so that's an hell of a time eight by the way yeah and I think the one that like the internal conversation was doosnight and we got a little gunshot like that was the one and so gonna be wrong doosnight looked awesome against uh who was UT Martin last year yeah yeah and and like it's hard to know exactly how these guys are gonna hit like the getting getting like getting it stacked we're like okay like this is different level of talent if he hits he's a rocket ship you know is is important I think eight is fine for this like under 60 percent passers saw the traits saw saw the improvement into production and I mean how many this top eight are getting drafted one two three four like the overrunners probably like five and a half that's a pretty damn good hit right buddy yeah I'll go to sleep feeling good about that one if we can uh if we can nail that and the other thing you know what to watch this weekend I mean it's gonna be a loaded visitors list for that Ohio State Texas game right I mean that is oh my god that is yeah and and I want to point this out again just with how much recruiting has changed you know when you look at the visitors list it might not be okay hey there's a bunch of seniors here but it's it's really the underclassmen because you know as soon as the season ends it the shift from the coaching staffs the personnel departments they're trying to lock those guys in as fast as they can and I it seemed like every day bud I've been looking at like these visitors lists and all these juniors are going to like 10 games around the country I don't know how they're doing it but um that's that's where the visitors really matter right is with the underclassmen because once we get to January February I mean spots or spots are gonna be filling up no doubt I was good show buddy and enjoy this great week on a college football on deck
