Recapping ‘Survivor 50’ Episode 12! | The Pod Has Spoken

The episode explores key strategic moments and player dynamics from the Survivor season, focusing on the controversial "Aussie move" and its attribution among Jonathan, Aubrey, and Rizzo. Julie Rosenberg, a former player, offers insight into her low public presence post-season, emphasizing the difficulty of assigning credit in complex alliances. The analysis highlights Aubrey’s tactical maneuvering as a strong jury asset, while Rick is praised for his energetic, entertaining gameplay despite being a potential threat. His consistent effort, idol hunting, and bold actions earn admiration from viewers, even if they provoke discomfort. Joe’s recent claims about others’ eating habits are seen as strategic but not damaging, as the group’s actions and history suggest little real vulnerability. Tiffany emerges as a growing threat, particularly targeting Rizzo due to her vocal focus and strategic consistency, though her long-term game plan remains ambiguous. The episode underscores how jury perceptions are shaped by visibility, timing, and personal relationships, making it difficult to predict alliances or outcomes. Players like Rizzo and Seri are also evaluated for their strategic depth and potential to influence final decisions, with the conclusion that the game remains a balance of strategy, entertainment, and personal dynamics. The hosts note the difficulty of remembering specific details, emphasizing the need for constant mental reset after viewing, while acknowledging the emotional and strategic depth of Survivor’s gameplay.

ashley and riley uh rocks this year nobody's missed an episode everybody's here we're all having a great time and we are blowing up over on youtube and spotify again uh we're winding down and we are going to have more content uh in the future so some subscribe everywhere you can just so we can brag to our friends make us look cool uh and we have a very special guest today from season 38 edge of extinction julie rosenberg julie how are you i'm good i'm good how are you guys today good how often do you speak publicly about survivor uh never so i think that i have done that's not true one time seven years ago i did a podcast after i was a kid and i was like oh my god i'm gonna do this i'm gonna do this i'm gonna do this after my season um and that was the last podcast i've ever i i did so so thank you for having me and happy to be here was that your choice or you just like invites stopped like why did you no i do get invites a lot so i i just um over the years i kind of not that i haven't watched the show i've watched every season since mine i i am a big fan but i don't know i just something maybe it's you tyson i don't know like you it's it's you it's you i don't know i've turned out others down they didn't seem big enough or they didn't maybe i was busy at the time or i just felt like i didn't have enough to say so and or to you all right well you know some players on this season so you've played with with them as well and uh i want to get into this right at this because it's it's a busy episode it was really packed like if you're gonna make a two-hour episode have this one be the two-hour episode this was uh seemed like it was moving a lot we could have probably gotten some more information all around but jonathan claims the aussie move is his aubrey claims it's hers and i kind of think it's partly rizzo who's getting credit for this who should get credit julie so i mean yeah i i noticed the same thing where jonathan's giving that confessional when they've come back from tribal and that you know how happy he is that he led the aussie charge and the extra vote was used and all that um and aubrey of course definitely i think without her i i i don't know like what would have happened i definitely think aussie telling aubrey his entire game her using that information to go to each person but then also rizzo not not you know sharing with aussie like what the plan was like all of them had a hand in it for sure i don't know like what do you think i don't know how it would have played out if any of those three people were missing out but i think that this is a dangerous spot for the person who doesn't get the credit to claim credit like and it's it's arbitrary the but if you're if those three are sitting at the end and all three are claiming that this is their move and it's their big move is getting aussie which was the catalyst to get sari or whatever the claim is yeah and then they're arguing over it now it's for the jury to determine and decide like who gets this move uh and i think it's it it is it's it's not always what actually happened that the jury agrees is the truth so i think it's it's tricky here i think anybody who has behind the scenes maneuvers has a stronger case i think jonathan saying like jonathan being like it was my move and aubrey being like actually it wasn't and here's why i think that's more powerful and i think even rizzo could do that to jonathan as well or maybe even to aussie right i mean there's an argument to be made that it was aussie's move like he got himself i think without him doing that i'm not i'm not so sure like that that's what have happened so i agree with you though tyson that aubrey being able to call out in tribal council after somebody says oh let me tell you about the move i made and then her being able to give her side of the story we've seen that happen many times i think you're right that probably has the most power yeah does aubrey does aubrey get dinged a little because it was like she was you know the crosshairs were on her so it's like of course she has to scramble and make it anyone but her versus jonathan you know could have just stuck with the target being aubrey like he had the actual ability to sort of pick and choose a target but he also has the immunity necklace on so it's like does that negate some of like you don't actually have have skin in the game for that vote and then wasn't rizzo the last one that they told i mean they were talking about the immunity necklace and they were like a conversation last episode where it was joe and jonathan being like all right we've got three here of the five and then it was joe that was like well we want to tell rizzo because we might have to work with him down the line so i don't know can it like is the answer that it was like kind of nobody's move i mean i think aubrey's the one that's going to be able to claim it the most i and maybe that's right yeah i think she'll get credit as this was the the big move um at this point in the game that you know for her to be able to win some jury votes i think she's going to be able to get the credit for it yeah i agree i don't think that that that makes it any less powerful riley that she was the one like if anything it makes it more like she recognized she was on the bottom she recognized she was the target she's able to shift the target off of her like that i think that's the name of survivor like that's right like look what just happened with this episode and you know rick has been you know they kept how many people have been on the bottom and they've been on the bottom people call him public enemy number one right and unfortunately for me um since i'm a big rick fan he wasn't able to get the target you know off of him um so right you could make that argument although with aubrey you don't have as many people to really have to maneuver but yeah let's talk about rick we get some signature rick scrambling here he realizes he is his enemy number one um what could he have done can't could he have done anything i like i mean at some point the writing is on the wall but it's like did he do everything he could do uh so having played with rick before and what i saw especially like him waking up that early at the beginning of this episode waking up before the sun rises going on the idol search like i've lived through this with him and then having somebody or we were always somebody was trying to trail him right to see if he was finding an idol we i lived through this like the second half of my season and and rick and i are great friends but i'm not sure if i'm going to be able to do that because i'm not sure if i'm going to but i you know i didn't want to sit next to him at the end i think that becomes um i've i've seen that with a lot of people but like he's become too big of a jury threat and and he knows it and and and they all know it and and what what can he do right so at that point he he does have to rely a little bit on finding idols winning immunity which i think you mentioned this episode like on my season he won four immunity challenges like it was crazy i think he found three idols um so he nobody works harder than rick at this like that i've seen usually um play this game hard and and i and he's not like we saw that scene also in the hammock he's not going to give up he's not going to quit um i'm sure there were plenty of conversations he had just like he had on my season with people trying to get them to see a different path of instead of voting him out i don't think he was just looking for the idol um he does everything right it's just that i don't i episode but really it felt like two 45 minute episodes like it used to be right um and and we didn't get to see any real strategizing and and but it doesn't mean he didn't try yeah that is true i think that's where the lack of content was coming from for me was i was watching and it was fast i appreciate that it was a quick episode and then we got to the action quickly but i do think that we did lack some information as viewers on before by the way both tribal councils um yeah is rick as big of a jury threat as everyone believes because some people are annoyed by him. Like, if I'm annoyed by somebody enough, I'm thinking maybe I should go to the end with this person. Like, everyone seems annoyed by them. Or are they annoyed that he keeps gaming and figuring out ways to game and then that is dangerous? Like, I'm not. Because he's also at odds with people. Like, him and Joe have had beef this whole season. They have? I didn't notice that. Really? It's shocking. If Joe's on the jury, is Joe voting for Rick if Rick's at the end? No, of course Joe's not voting for Rick. So we're looking at, like, that's what I'm looking at if I'm in this game still. I'm like, who's voting for Rick in the end? I think it depends who he's sitting next to. I look at Rick as, like, I saw what happened on my season and I wonder if Aubrey was starting to see that as well because she was on the jury, right, watching Rick on my season once he came back from Edge of Extinction. And every time Rick came into Tribal Council wearing the necklace or playing an idol, the jury was eating it up. Like, they literally were, like, clapping and smiling for him and, like, dead stares at the rest of us. And you could tell he was the underdog where his back was against the wall. He didn't have many people working with him. He became the biggest threat. And they wanted him. You could sense they were, like, dying for him to win. He would have had all of the votes. And maybe part of that is, like, what's going on. And Aubrey's mind. Also, Cerise said it at some point in this episode, maybe on The Reward, where she could see the argument, right, if Rick gets to the end of why. She could see the argument in his game of why he was going to win. And, yes, I think, like, he can rub people the wrong way or they're getting annoyed with him, especially if they're still in the game with him. But I do think sometimes once you're on the jury, if he didn't really do anything crazy against you, right, maybe Joe, right, they have this personal issue going on and I don't know why, but. Anybody else, the jury starts to appreciate who's playing the hardest. That's how it felt when I played and why I knew, like, okay, they're not looking at me as playing the hardest. And I certainly wasn't. I was laying in a shelter, like, emaciated, could not get the energy to get up and look for an idol anymore. And Rick was 24-7 making fake idols, finding idols, putting his all into the challenges, having conversations with everybody. So I think the jury appreciates that. And some people can get past. They can get past, like, the annoyance, if they. Maybe he did some annoying things. And I think they're going to vote for who they think played the best game. And I don't know. It's like, out of all the people who left right now, when Rick was still in it, who's playing the best game? I don't know. You could probably make an argument for a few people, but I don't think you could for all of them. And I think they saw him as a huge threat. Yeah. I mean, as I'm watching Rick this season, I also. He likes to have fun. He likes to be entertained. That is part of his goal. But I believe there has to be a balance. If he's out there to make too much good TV and that's his number one goal, I think it's going to rub everybody the wrong way. Like, oh, this guy's just out here for camera time. He's sacrificing maybe his game to a certain degree just to do something silly. And so I also think if you're on the jury watching that, like, that's something that you are considering. Like, how much was for show and how much was for strategy? So when I think about the things that Rick has done, first of all, he had a good alliance with Christian and Emily in the beginning. He has worked with Aubrey at times throughout this game. There seems to have been something going with Ceri at some point, but it's hard to say. Like, Ceri seems like she's got something with everybody. And in terms of like his, you know, he even is playing it up. Like, oh, I'm chaotic. I'm, you know, these are like what antics. I think Aubrey mentioned his antics. Or, you know, they're not, she even says that his antics aren't just antics. They're actually like, there is, there's some momentum going there with him. So like, what's so silly that he did? Do you think it was a good move to make a fake idol and plant it at Tribal? Did it really save him and Aubrey in that pairs, you know, twist? I don't know if they would have been going home or not. But I don't know if I see anything that he did that is so silly, I guess. Maybe the dance. Like, he's, obviously he was excited and dancing after like he does the Mr. Beast coin flip, but that's a huge thing, right? Like anyone's going on adrenaline there after that. So I don't know. I see him as playing hard and making moves and doing whatever he can. Yes. And he wants it to be fun. I think Jeff said to everybody at the beginning of this season, we read it somewhere that play hard and like make this a good season. Like this is 50, it's on you. And you better, you better step up. I mean, he says that at the beginning. He says that at the beginning of every season. He does, he does. But like, I think Rick is stepping up, right? Yes, it is a game and you're trying to win the money. So that is, okay, is that your sole purpose? And it's a TV show. And I feel like without like Rick is being and a few others being on this show, they've made, like, it wouldn't have been so entertaining to watch. So I look at it as like a fan for who should win the million, but I'm like, I'm a TV viewer too and I want to be entertained. Yeah. That's why I like you so much, Tyson. Oh, thank you. Thank you. I do agree with what you're saying. My professional opinion or unprofessional, I don't know, it depends on if you consider me a professional, is there is a balance. Like you do want to make good TV, but if it's at the expense of your strategy or even rubbing people the wrong way because you're having so much fun, either when they aren't or they don't think you should be, like it's all kind of a game of self-awareness with the audience that is sitting there in front of you. Yeah. And so I can't tell, like I know Joe is obviously annoyed at Rick's maneuvering. And so like how many people are versus how many people aren't versus like how much can you do? So that's kind of like, I'm not saying Rick is wrong or right in these moments. I'm saying he's towing a line that some people that could be on the jury may not appreciate. I totally see your point. I also sometimes wonder how much, right, besides Joe, who we know finds, you know, Rick to be disgusting and inappropriate, which I'm not, I still, and I love Joe on his first season. Like I don't quite understand what was so disgusting about upping the prize money to $2 million. But inappropriate though, right? It was the airing out everything at Tribal that Joe took the most issue with. But like who, right, you're fighting for your life there, right? That's a game play for me. That's not even showboating. That's the game. Yeah. Right. Like, and right. And no, like again, I believe like there's some great Tribal Council speakers in the lifespan of Survivor. And I think Rick is one of them. Like he knows how to start a conversation. He did it on my season. I've seen him do it again. Turned this whole thing on Steph. And right. What are you supposed to do in that moment? Like that's another notch on his belt to like why, if he makes it to the final three, if he had made it to the final three, right, as to like having such an influence in that vote. It wasn't just the, the coin flip, but so besides, my point was, oh, sorry. Go, go, no, please. I was going to say besides Joe, maybe you're annoyed watching him, you know, but I don't, I don't know if everybody else is annoyed. Cherie's been talking about what a big threat he is. Like everyone's, Aubrey just talked about a big threat. Like they see, I think they see him more as an annoying threat than just annoying. I, and I don't know if that's also only what we're being shown because I think Rick, is a really nice, genuine guy and, and gets, makes it a point to get to know everybody in that game and have real relationships. Like you're just seeing his gameplay side or, but I think more people like him than maybe what you're assuming on that jury. That's what I don't know. Yeah. Like in my head as I'm sitting there, I'm like, is Rick the right move here for these people? How many of these people is it the right move for? That's kind of what I'm getting at. Is he as big of a jury threat as everyone is, or are the people that we're hearing from are giving him credit for? That's because you go, like you said, you go to tribal council and the jury will scowl at certain people and stuff. But also the jury goes to Ponderosa and laughs about targeting their scowls at one person coming back and being like, they have no idea what we're thinking right now because we scowled at the one and we laughed. Like they are doing that too. So I think it makes it tricky to, I mean, yeah. I guess. I never was on the jury, so I didn't get the Ponderosa experience. So I don't know what that's like, but I got some major scowls and it felt intimidating and I could say, okay, they're trying to intimidate me. But at the same time, when you just see these huge smiles, every time Rick came in wearing the necklace and unfortunately he hasn't won immunity, right? He didn't get to win immunity this season, but I don't know. I think they like to reward gameplay that is bold and, I think Rick's a bold player. Yeah. I think for some people, maybe like Seri, I think Seri is maybe beating Rick in the end. I don't know if she feels like she can. Yeah. Maybe there's a case for Aubrey if she keeps her momentum going. But I think these players, and again, you also don't know your jury power either. Like Seri probably doesn't recognize as we as viewers are watching it and recognizing that who's not, voting for Seri to win on her- I think Seri knew that. Fifth attempt. So if she knows, then like, why is she just, like, is she trying to just get to the end as much as she could? Or was she, did she maneuver herself out of getting to the end in any capacity? I think Seri did everything that she could. I don't know, because I mean, there were times where she was pushing a little bit. Maybe she didn't have to push because if she gets to the end with anybody, she's winning. But I, that's what I'm, like, I don't know. I don't think that she recognizes fully that she's winning no matter what if she gets to the end. And maybe she's not. You don't think she knows that? I think there's gotta be a doubt in your mind still. Like, maybe Rick did some crazy enough stuff. Maybe doubling the pot was a big enough thing. Maybe Aubrey maneuvering a certain way is scary. Like, I don't know. I feel like the second you believe that about yourself, you're going home soon. Like, I think you're clouding your own gameplay by assuming you're going to win in the end no matter what. I feel like her whole alliance with Ozzy is a testament that she thinks she can beat anyone at the end and that Ozzy would actually take her to the end and is one of the few. Because Ozzy's also this super beloved legend. Who wants to sit next to him in the end? It can only be a Seri type player. Okay. Right. And for her to align herself with him for sure, like, he was going to take. I think he was the only person that would take her to the end. And I think he probably would have. And I think she knew that, right? And she desperately needed him because I don't see a path. Or I didn't until, you know, this episode. I didn't see a path of how she was going to get to the end because nobody is going to want to sit next to her except Ozzy. I think Ozzy has to understand he's not beating Seri in the end. Do you think, though? I don't know. I don't know. I think. I think so. Maybe not in the moment when he got eliminated. But I think if we're down at final five, if we're down maybe even final four, I think he's at that point recognizing he can't beat Seri and maybe making a move. Maybe not. Maybe he's just like, this is what it is. I've made my bed and I'm happy to not win if it's Seri that wins. Like, maybe there's. I don't think that he, in the end, would believe he could beat Seri in front of a jury. Especially watching her. master manipulate everybody. Like, he's watching. He's got a front row seat to seeing exactly how it works. Right. Rick scrambling for the idol, Jonathan following him, and everyone just letting Jonathan follow him. Is this good for Jonathan? I think it's horrible for Jonathan. Well, what do you mean? Like, in terms of. I've been in this position where Jonathan is, where I was holding an idol. I had to follow people around pretending that I didn't have the idol. So that they didn't know I had the idol. All the while knowing there was nothing out there to be found. And I felt like a bully. And I could feel that they felt that too. But, like, I had no choice but to, like, follow and be like, oh, maybe you got, like. And I think the entire group just letting Jonathan do all of that. So, I was following Rick on my season, but it wasn't just me. We took turns. That's what we did. Because he's not just. He's just not. He wasn't just looking. And first of all, I don't even know how people are looking in the dark. I tried on Survivor. I couldn't even get myself to wake up in time to, like, look before everybody else is awake. I was like, how do people wake up? Like, I do believe everybody's sleeping at some point. And so. But there's people, they just wake up before the sun rises. And then I thought, like, I couldn't even look for an idol in the dark right now. Like, it feels pretty dark out there. And I had trouble when I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. And you're tripping over vines and finding where to go. So, I don't know. I don't know if Rick's doing it, but. What? In the night when you got to go to the bathroom, you get up, you take one step away from the shelter. No, no, no. Tyson, no. It's one step. One step. No, no. I'm surprised you even took the step. Because, no. I'm going at least halfway down the trail and then 10 feet into the jungle. And then. And maybe it's a little harder for me and I'm more exposed. And no, I'm not taking just one step. It's one step. And I probably went. I mean, I have a weak bladder. I always go up like five times throughout the night. But I would still. By the time I was finally asleep, I still was never really waking the first one up in the morning. So, Rick being up before the sunrise and then Jonathan trailing him, that's not the only time Rick was looking. Jonathan's not the only person that was probably trailing him. And I trailed Rick once. I thought it was hysterical when Rick said, like, Jonathan's blocking out the sun. Yeah. Because, like, he was so big. And, like, I trailed Rick and Rick found the idol one of the times. He found an idol. I was right behind him and he was two seconds in front of it. We were both looking and he just snatched it and was like, oh, well, that was fortunate. So, is it a bad look for Jonathan? I don't think he was the only one doing it. It's just what we saw. And we saw the funny moment, right? Rick saying, I lost the contact lens. Yeah. Yeah, that was pretty good, too. Yeah, I agree that if everyone's sharing that, then that's fine. But if Jonathan's. If, like, they tasked Jonathan and he's the only one doing it, it's. Yeah, it's not. Everyone can see that it's. It's a little bit of bullying. It's not, like, a true bullying, but it's, like, you have the upper hand. You know you have the upper hand and you're still, like, trying to sock it to this person. It's a power position that's very hard to balance. Right. I think what was a worse look for Jonathan was licking the dry rice right out of that mug. Yeah. Dude, what was up with that? Talk about disgusting. And inappropriate. That's disgusting. Even if it's going to get boiled. Yeah, you don't do that. You add moisture to the rice, it's going to mold up and stuff, too. No, it's. That was not nice. That was insane. That was not nice. But very funny with him, them crunching on the dry rice in the confessional after that. In the confessional, yeah. Which is kind of not, like, not being enjoyable. Like, just wait 15 minutes or whatever. Oh, my goodness. Have you never nibbled on, like, raw ramen brick or anything, Riley? Like, just, like. Ramen is a lot better than raw rice. Raw rice is, like. I know, but sometimes you're just sitting there and there's nothing and you're just like, I'm just going to, you know, put something in it. And you just, like, take a lick out of the rice? The lick was weird. He could have just taken a piece. The licking of it. Yeah. Where it's a communal rice. It was very strange. Like, on my season, we won coffee beans as part of a reward. And we would, every day, I would take one coffee bean as a treat. Like, that was my little treat, dessert, and just eat, like, a raw coffee bean. Like, a hard, like. But, I don't know. It probably tasted better than the rice. Yeah. I'd rather do a coffee bean than crunch a little bit easier. But I think. I think that's, to my point, that I've always made. You have to assume every single pet peeve that any person could ever possibly have is present within the group you're in. And definitely licking food from a communal pot is someone's pet peeve. If not everyone's pet peeve. Right, right. It should be everyone's. It should be, yeah. Yeah. Okay, but that's right. We went on a tangent. Okay. No, I liked it. We had to talk about this. Yeah, we had to talk about that. Let's go to the immunity challenge. Joe wins, chooses Seri, and Rizzo because they haven't gotten anything to eat, only to have Rick specifically poke holes in that. Yeah. Bad for Joe, good for Joe, neither here nor there. Is this just another reason that Joe is not going to be able to win this game? Because I would be annoyed. If I'm seeing that, I would be like, okay, Joe had some ulterior motive. He's trying to block it by saying that they hadn't eaten. They didn't work because we all recognize that they have eaten. I think it's neither here nor there. I just don't see right now enough going on with Joe's gameplay that he's perceived as a threat. And for them, I don't think it can really hurt or help him at this point. Like, it just feels too far into the game to me. And people, he's not the first to do this, right? You choose people for a reward and act like you're choosing for one reason. And you make up, like this isn't anything new. So I don't, I don't fault him for like saying to us, it was strategic, but not saying that to everybody else. Like it's, it's fine. I did think it was strange when he said that though, about everybody struggling. And I was like, wait, didn't they have that auction? Like not too long ago. I did think that in my head, but I couldn't remember. I don't even think I saw Joe eat in that auction. Actually. He was like the one that seemed to never be voted. Like maybe he ate something and they didn't show it, but he never spent any money until the end for the love letters. So I don't think it hurts or helps him. Unfortunately, I'm not sure there's, I'm not trying to be down on Joe. I just don't know. I don't, I don't see a path right now for him winning this game and, and, and what could absolutely hurt or help his situation. I mean, I think this is definitely not a positive check Mark that he got caught out with it. Sure. Everybody has these different agendas and they lie to cover up those agendas and their actions and stuff that's common, but to get caught doing it and not admit to it is, I think, poor gameplay. - Do you think that they were calling him out for it because it's like ha we caught you like you you're lying like the thing you say that you can't stand that like everybody else does in this game right like i don't i don't know how is it even helping them to call him out for it like no one has brought up his yeah it was rick scrambling at tribal council right and so that makes sense like okay let's draw attention to this because that's not really like why like those guys ate a lot um i think it was rick you know grasping at straws but i think it's i think it's bad for joe's image uh to for people to see it and recognize it whether or not anybody articulated it or anything like it's not a positive to get caught in a lie it's always it's always a negative on survivor to get caught in a lie i i assume um yeah so i think it's just one more thing and especially if he's being uh filled with integrity and honor like how doubly disgusting is getting caught in a lie yeah so i mean that's my point is like is uh yeah i think taking people for your strategic purposes totally fine uh claiming that as for something else totally fine getting caught uh and having it pointed out to the entire tribe that it's not accurate your reasoning is a bad law is a bad look you're you know what you're reminding me of something now i don't know if you you want to hear this but um on my okay on my season i won a final one of the final challenges um when okay who six were still in the game maybe and it was a it was um a reward immunity and and reward and it was like a steak dinner and i took lauren and chris and chris i the reason i gave in the moment was because um he's literally been on the edge of extinction for 35 days he just came back he hasn't eaten he just came back in the game like i'm i'm gonna take him but so i use the exact same thing now oh now i'm joe oh okay so i use the exact same reasoning but i but i was the kind of player that actually really felt that way like like i i couldn't get my emotions out of it like you know so there were things that like when i would make an argument of why we can't do this or can't do that it was because of how i felt like as just a human being and not as i should have only been a survivor player but and one of those things was like chris looks emaciated like i saw what he looked like in the beginning of the game and now i'm looking at him and like how could i not give him food um but that being said in that part of the game like the the strategy for me was also like chris was one of the only people i mean fool on me and that i thought i could beat at the end because i thought nobody's going to give the guy a million dollars who just lived on edge of extinction for 35 days right it was voted out third um we played eight games i mean eight days in this game so i really thought like okay i gotta get to a line with chris and lauren because maybe this is my best path to the final three of trying to beat somebody because i you know i saw who else was in the game so why did i tell that whole story i don't know um i because you're just realized because i'm joe call me joe for the rest of the podcast you're really but the reason you gave was also accurate even though you had a lot of time to think about it and i think that's a really good way to do it and i think that that is where the the distinction is um and yeah not that it's good or bad i just i mean i think it's bad for joe that he got caught doing it and uh we get also this talk about we get a camp that tiffany wants to target rizzo and she starts shopping that around and aubrey is now saying she's thinking about who she wants to target and she's thinking wants to sit at who she wants to sit at the end with um is it too early is it too early to think that there's seven or is there seven people yeah there's seven people at this point because it is a timing thing and it's she even talks about a timing thing in in uh in at tribal council about dismantling a bomb and making one wrong move and your game blows up who is she wanting to sit by at the end well first of all she did say peeling the layers back which to me feels like an onion and i references but yes um i don't think it's too early i i think she's got ptsd obviously she has said it from her first season and losing to michelle and sitting next to somebody who she didn't think had all this major gameplay but was very likable and she's now at the point where i'm going to correct my past wrongs and and i'm i'm going to make sure i get rid of every threat that i can't beat and so with seven left one of them's got an idol and she obviously doesn't even see him as a threat which we can talk about as well let's talk about it i you know and i liked watching rizzo on his first season i've liked watching him on this season i i think he the it doesn't seem like any a lot of other people are respecting him um in terms of what he's done or or what they know he's done or hasn't done and um and i think it's exactly like aubrey said who's going to give the young kid who who isn't even a kid right i think he's 25 but but he seems to be the youngest um who's going to give him two million dollars when we haven't even seen his first season he literally had maybe 12 days off and is back here and we've been how long has all we've been trying to win this game right like so i think that she thinks he's a perfect person to sit next to um and and that makes a lot of sense to me i actually don't i i think he has played a good game um but i could understand why aubrey's thinking okay i'm at the point where i need to figure out who needs to be here with me at the end and and and i'm good with him having an idol because i think i could beat him yeah i think uh i agree i watching rizzo i think he's maneuvered beautifully through this game um is part of it though that he's not a threat so people just let him maneuver or is it that he's doing all of this and people aren't recognizing or is it a combination of both i do also agree with aubrey that giving a 25 year old kid two million dollars like as a 45 year old person i'm 46 not 45 sorry i lied somebody's called me out i'll be 47 soon there's part of me on the jury that's like yeah a 25 year old kid no you shouldn't have two million dollars right now like from nothing to two million that's that's too much let's give it to somebody who's you know lived a life and uh and known the struggle like there's just part of i think maybe human nature i think aubrey's seeing that and recognizing that as well that said if rizzo doesn't win this season and he comes back for season 60 season 65 and gets to the end i think you give him the money then yeah yeah i think people watch these two and in five years and they're like rizzo did a really good job then and then he still was able to get to the end here give him the money this season i think he aubrey said it i think he's gonna have a tricky time winning there's people he against maybe but like joe he's gonna get more votes than joe in the end right i think so i think he oh no i don't know the honor integrity group is on the jury oh yeah but is so didn't joe post something online a week or two ago that like he he wasn't he's in the honor integrity but but he seems to be flowing in between groups yes like like he seems to be something with sheree going on he definitely has this thing with rizzo he was the one that really wanted to bring rizzo in on the ozzy vote um obviously no not with rick but he he seems to be flowing i don't i couldn't figure out if he's really in that honor and integrity alliance like locked solid like the others i don't think he ever figured out either you're right and if you're if you're in the honor integrity group but you're not with the honor integrity group then they're not going to vote for you in the end like if they've realized that your honor and integrity towards them was actually just right right so yeah that remains to be seen um a season of all honor and integrity people uh julie do we get uh 20 people who are morally opposed to any misleading or manipulation whatsoever no not a good not a good season i don't think that's a good theme it feels like it would be boring um i'm not sure how that forcing these people who are morally opposed to doing this stuff into having to do it yeah but how many really were honor and integrity deep down like in this game in season 50 yes you we've heard joe talk about this a lot jonathan certainly wasn't he he was just playing it as a role i think has been yeah i i mean coach was saying it but then also getting caught uh coach coach says honor and integrity is not does not play with honor and integrity but he does actually believe he is playing with honor and integrity right yes so whether that is honor and integrity is up to you yeah i guess i guess it just depends on where your line is as to whether or not uh it's okay and if you are honor and integrity or not tribal council you're not going to be able to play with honor and integrity and i think that's a good thing to do We get Rick playing the shot in the dark. He knew the writing was on the wall. We get this emotional goodbye from him. Let's send him off in style. Julie, what do you got for Rick? I'll go first. I'll go first. Here we go. No, no. You just asked me. No. Hello. Okay, go first, Julie. No, I'm kind of curious now. What were you going to say? Oh, I was just going to say that watching Rick and how much fun he was having, and even though I am posing the question, making good TV versus winning the game, where is the line? Did he tow that line properly? He did make me reflect on myself, and I also have a lot of fun playing these games. But I also, when I'm out there, get caught up in the moment of trying to win at the expense. Of having fun. And I think that Rick is a good example of being able to pull himself quickly away from focusing too heavily on something he can't control, which is actually winning. Like, he can't fully control that into enjoying the experience in the moment. So, Rick, thank you for that. Maybe that's a reminder to our listeners in general. You don't have to play Survivor to do that. But just enjoy the ride, whatever ride you're on. If you can. And if you can't, then look forward to being able to enjoy a ride at some point in your life. You know, like, maybe now's not the time. That was very well said. I couldn't say it better. I think that, yeah, I agree. Rick has a great time playing this game. I do think he has a great attitude. He doesn't ever seem to give up, and he's going to try various things, right? And he seems to play with his back against the wall, and he puts a big target on himself. And whether that's, you know, like you said, like, is that the right move? But he's having a great time doing it. I think he has truly appreciated this experience, having it the first time, especially somebody who, and like you, Tyson, like getting off of the edge of extinction, right? And feeling like, you know, wow, I've got to really do something with this chance I've been given. And then now he's been invited back. I would not, I would not be surprised if we see Rick again one day, because I do think he's a great player, strategically and entertaining. And that's what I like to see in players. Like, I can't just separate, like, okay, who's playing the best game. I want to see entertaining players. And Rick certainly gave us a lot of fun this season. And yeah, I can appreciate that. If I'm on the island with Rick, I think I would have a lot of fun with him. I would enjoy his antics. I would play with him. I would probably egg him on a little bit to do a little more than me as far as, you know, stepping out into the limelight for everyone to see. And even though I do believe I would enjoy playing with Rick, I would have poked and prodded that Rick versus Joe storyline the entire season I was out there. I was like, Joe, what do you think about Rick doing the old dancey do when he found the thing? Please tell us your thoughts now. I mean, I guess you're going to have Rick on, right? As an exit interview. Oh, okay. And I am curious. I, like, I'm in touch with Rick. I didn't, like, no spoilers. I didn't know what was happening this season. Like, he's never told me a thing. And so I didn't know that he was going out this episode. And I am kind of curious, like, this internal, or not internal, external drama between the two of them. And I'm curious, like, what's going on? And how it got to be so blown up. Is it still ongoing? Are you seeing it, like, via social media? Oh, no. I didn't mean it like that. Okay. I meant, like, on the season. What we saw on the season, like, wasn't one-sided? Was it really just Joe? Like, once something happened, he just couldn't get past it? And just, it was like tunnel vision on Rick? I don't know, like, what exactly he wanted it. Well, early on, Joe caught Rick lying to him when they were supposed to be talking about it. And they ended up being completely in an alliance. Right. Right. Oh, yeah, with Savannah. And what did Savannah say to you? And then they went to the well. Which if Rick didn't even, I don't even know why Rick had needed to lie there or something, or wanted to, but he did. Joe caught him out immediately because he, like, cross-examined everybody, like, right on the go, which is annoying. But you know that that's going to happen sometimes. So I think Rick was annoyed that Joe was so aggressive in cross-examining and telling Rick how the game should be played. Right. And Joe was like, Joe was annoyed that Rick lied for what? Because they should be in an alliance together. So I think that then, I think that was just like too wide a river to cross at that point that they were both. I guess. I guess. But do you let it consume you the rest of the game? Like, I don't think it consumed Rick. Joe is just like eating at him, just every single. Well, I mean, it makes, it feels like it's all of Joe's TV, at this point, is that, is that angle. Like, everybody's talking about the micromanaging of Joe and this whole thing with Rick. Like, that seems to be his entire edit at this point. So I don't know if there was more there or not. Yeah. We'll find out. We'll find out tomorrow. Thank you for giving us some inspiration there. All right, Rick, you had a good run. Hell of a game. And whoever wins the two million should buy you a Vespa or something, I don't know. We'll give you a little bump, even though I think it's against the contract, but who reads or cares about those anymore? Pre-game, split the money, do whatever you want. Following day, it goes straight into day. We don't get a night return. We don't get any of that stuff. Did you recognize, yeah, I mean, it stood out to me as that we are just like, straight back into it. We get a little clip of Tiffany, wanting Rizzo, everyone else deciding Tiffany is the biggest threat, and Jonathan telling Rizzo that Tiff is the target, but don't tell Ceri, and then Rizzo immediately telling Ceri. Yeah. And then the one thing that stood out is Ceri asking the question at the end, like, what if Tiffany wins immunity? And Rizzo's like, I don't know. And she's like, what do you mean you don't know? Like, there's not like a plan. So good. If there's not a plan B, then I'm the plan B. What's the plan B? Yeah. So I have a couple questions. One, is this the first we've seen or heard? Because I can't, honestly, after I watch an episode, I really almost can't remember that episode or any other prior episode. You do want to keep your internal RAM free of the TV. Like, you don't want to hold on long term to any of that. So that's the, that's correct. Oh, what's correct? Forgetting everything as soon as you watch it on TV. Yeah. Oh, okay, I thought it was just my old age. But okay. So I just can't remember anything anymore. So I can't remember now if, is this the first we've heard of Tiffany being like the big threat to get out? Like, or have we heard this before? No, I think this is the first. This is it. But it has been building to that. She has been more vocal in trying to drive the vote. She's been winning immunities. She's, I think it was, and obviously if you want to target somebody, like that's the line. You're just like, you know who's a big threat, who we haven't recognized as a big threat? Not me, it's Tiffany. Like that's, that's the sales pitch. Like you have to figure out who you can paint as a threat, regardless of if they are actually a threat or not. Do we think she's a threat? I think she's a threat. I was gonna say, I think Tiffany has been named maybe three times as a threat. Okay. But then immediately something else happened. So she's always slipped right through. So this is the first time she's, her name has been said and then it's stuck. So is she, 'cause obviously I do remember the first half of the, I'm saying half, I don't know if it's half. The first half of the game, we did not see a lot of her, right? That, and that was very apparent. We saw Zac Brown more than her. Yes. And he was in episode five or something. Right, yeah. And then we saw her and then we started getting more time with her, right? And then, but it felt like she was a bit on the bottom, right? She lost Camilla, she lost Dee, right? And yeah, she's made a path for herself. She seems like she was aligned with Aubrey pretty early on at some point. And then with Sheree for sure, it looks like now or did. And I think that is she, so she's definitely been playing a game, but is she being seen as like a physical threat? And people are starting to think about like, who can't, who's going to win immunity? And I need to make sure that I can have a chance at winning immunity. Because like she won that one challenge before she won obviously this one tonight. But, and then she thought she won that other one, which I would have loved to have talked about because like that whole foot debacle was hysterical to me. But is she that big of a threat? I guess I never was looking at her this whole game as a huge threat in all ways. But that would be my pitch to you. If we were in the game together, I'd be like, Julie, who's nobody thinking about? Like who is still here? here who has played from the bottom most of the time who has maneuvered who has won challenges and nobody's saying their name and then you're like tiffany and you're like you said it exactly tiffany you're right like that's like you so yeah that's it that's i i i think that there's validity to it which makes it real for people but again you can paint anybody as the threat like joe won immunity went on immunity tear last season he played he's also micromanaging people you don't want to get caught out with him at the wrong time there's like you can make the sales pitch for anybody like that's what a survivor player does but i think this this moment people are i think you think a couple things i think people are scared to go against sari because like they said like the second she gets wind of it she shifts the game onto you and you don't want to get caught out being that person so it's very tricky to be the one to name sari so everybody's kind of like tippy-toeing around it hoping someone else does it they don't have to because they don't want to be the one in the battle or the war with sari and so i think tiffany is like a little bit safer like she's with sari but so i think that there's a little bit of that as well do you disagree what what you think tiffany is not a threat to win i don't know i don't know um i agree i didn't know if people were seeing her like sometimes you look at it or i looked at it when i played is like who's a threat to win um and you don't really want to be sitting next to and who's a threat who's left in the game to take a spot in the final three because they can't win and they can't win and they can't win and you don't want them to get there because then they're taking up a spot um and so i don't who is not working with me and i am worried will come for me before i get to final three that's why i didn't win because i don't think like that i mean those are the three those are the i think there's more i'm sure people will weigh in with more but that's also a thing you look at is like can i trust tiffany enough to get me to the end am i is she gonna come after me like i think that's a question everyone needs to ask themselves about everybody as they're looking at this final six now so right well yeah she's made it very clear who she's going after she's she's got like very straight focus on rizzo um both of these tribals um and yeah and she yeah exactly so so in that way i'd be like okay tiffany is like so locked in on rizzo i don't really feel like she's she's looking at me i don't know um hard to say i didn't really understand why she was so locked in on rizzo too because it feels like everybody else she doesn't like the idol being there and she's hell-bent on flushing it yeah maybe she doesn't feel that's the other thing is like aubrey said rizzo's too young people on the jury this old school jury isn't going to give a 25 year old kid two million dollars maybe tiffany isn't recognizing that herself or doesn't believe that way or doesn't yeah so that's the thing is like your perception versus the jury's perception versus your perception about yourself versus people's perception about you like there's all these different perceptions that are not all aligned and so i think that she's a couple of things she's threatened by the idol like so what rizzo gets a free pass again he gets another free pass like how many free passes are you going to give him that takes up a spot where you know where votes could go and maybe she's also like this is a big move for me if i can get rid of rizzo or his idol or both at the same time and take credit for it that's also a notch on my belt well right she's not she's not wrong in terms of we the the beginning of this episode started with seven right and now we're down to five except he didn't play his idol both times and now he's he's in the final four so he's he's made it to four from seven to four and she saw that happening and i think more in her mind she's thinking we're letting somebody get to the final four and and that's i think she's seeing it as taking up a spot i don't know if she's thinking of it as rizzo's this huge threat to win and you know but then i don't know maybe why isn't she seeing it aubrey's way that i can sit next to him in the final like i want him in the final three with me obviously she she doesn't see it quite like that um but maybe she feels like he's going to take a spot and it could be my spot and so she's just trying to preserve that spot and she might not be thinking of her end game right now she might be like you said thinking of like spots being taken and not like you're opening up some freedom to target somebody else if you can get rid of the idols um so yeah i i we haven't seen tiffany articulate that she has people she wants to sit by in the end so she may still be in a different phase of the game in her brain than aubrey is who's to say what is right and what is wrong because timing is everything in these moments um but yeah i i think you're absolutely right because if you look at like aubrey has sat there right in the final three i forget where tiffany placed in her season but it wasn't it wasn't that far okay so right that far in the game so i don't think she's thinking along those lines like aubrey is um and and she hasn't been there to to do that and yeah there was something else i was going to say but i already forgot i'm sure it was profound uh what very very very sorry she was eight sorry i was wrong she was eight i'm sorry i did look it up i realized it's like i wasn't sure sorry you liar you liar i was so confident too i'm sorry i want to go to this immunity challenge and okay i want to take a vote more teeter-totters on survivor like i think we should open every single challenge with one of these horribly painful teeter-totters but the net part not just the balance beam part right the net part the net part balance beam where you go up and then it just like drops like full like i think it hit terminal velocity before it touched the ground right have you have we seen that before that actual piece in a challenge i i don't remember that i am not the person to ask i don't want to say yes or no because somebody will fact check me and i'm never i don't again i purge everything from my brain to make room for more stuff when it comes to the ram that gets purged through the specific challenges are tough to remember yeah those are cleared out but i did i wouldn't love to do that for myself i would be like can i get up it with my feet first so that when i fall i'm feet down instead of face down it looked very rough and it was and you heard them you heard the grunts like every time one of them like landed yeah yeah nobody hurt their wrist or something i thought maybe somebody would go forward and get hurt um yeah and then we get to the end of the challenge inconceivable not that hard to spell but you got to spell it twice because it's on front and back and there's different there's different kind of hard that that ei is the tough part but also you have uh multiple letters yes so the back of them isn't going to be the same on both sides so that's where also you have to to yeah that's where i think the challenge was won or lost if you're tiffany you got to be concerned here like i don't even think we got a confessional of her being like everyone was working together against me like we didn't get that that was wild yeah when it was happening when i was watching it and it was happening at first i just see it's jonathan and joe right like what is it what is it i'm like okay i kind of understand they're working together this makes sense they're friends they're just trying to help each other but then when aubrey got in on it and and maybe yeah siri was kind of off to the side so she wasn't quite there yet and i was like wait what's going on like like all of that like and jeff started commenting on it like how they were all working together and then it was very clear right it was to to everyone to beat tiffany um i was kind of surprised right like i i don't know like sometimes in my mind like if it was me i would have been like okay like focus like just focus on your own puzzle right like like you're literally hurting you're hurting yourselves right now right and exactly what aubrey said after the fact that she should have just focused on the puzzle because she probably could have won it i'm not saying like maybe tiffany would have won it anyway but joe jonathan i'm not sure they they they could uh at that point they were just a bit confused but um or whatever rizzo rizzo probably could have won it um no if he tried why why challenges he's always one of the first out of challenges no oh but has he had a spelling challenge i don't know probably okay well immunity last uh immunity uh earlier in the episode well he also had to balance it but he had to balance this one too i'm not saying he can't win something but he's never he's never in the mix to win i agree that it was i would be concerned if i was tiffany and again i was still kind of surprised that all of this just came in this episode at least i thought it did that all of a sudden she's the biggest threat and they're all against her and trying to beat her in this challenge so that they can vote her out and and it just feels like it came a bit out of nowhere to me but maybe maybe they've been thinking this all along and we just never saw it i don't know i think there's a relief for people who feel like they should be the targets and all of a sudden tiffany is the target like if you're sari you're like hell yes yeah yes i will do whatever's in my power to make it look like i'm willing to vote out tiffany like and everybody when it's this slim of pickings everybody's on that same train they're like okay everything's stuck on tiffany we have to do everything in our power individually each of us to show the majority of this group that we are targeting tiffany too so i think that that's where it came into play like showing everyone at the challenge that you're willing to work with them and willing to help them to get the win so that tiffany doesn't get the win is all part of this uh this alliance that is formed specifically to just get tiffany i think if you're aubrey like that's a huge relief like everyone's looking at tiffany let's keep that momentum going in so much that i'm going to tell joe what he's doing wrong hoping that he can win because then it will show him that i'm with him yes that makes total sense i feel like it doesn't have a lot of honor and integrity though you know this is an individual challenge and you gang up on somebody you work together some would call it disgusting others would say like you know maybe your definition of honor is askew it's okay yeah yeah maybe maybe i don't know i i haven't i don't know as much about honor as some of the players this season but it feels like against the spirit of competition to team up in what's supposed to be an individual challenge i also well okay i i i've never liked when they have the challenges side by side and you can just go and look at somebody else's and i feel and i get maybe for filming reasons why they can't have blockades right and they need to have like that be able to have a good view of everybody or whatever i i don't i never understand why that's allowed right like it feels like yes this is like part of the show is the physical competition and the puzzle solving and everything and and you should you shouldn't be able to cheat like that and just look at what somebody else did like that and whoever's on the end like i know that they draw for spots so it's random but whoever's on the end has you know half as many people that they can easily see and cheat off of versus if you're right in the middle you can step back and look at everybody yeah yeah well a couple things having it open like that creates more social dynamics sure they want the drama i get what the drama there's conversation around that it makes good tv and then secondly it keeps the game tight like then you don't have these blowouts because nobody's like if somebody gets the puzzle first and then everyone gets to see how the puzzle kind of comes together then people can catch up and it makes for more bare bare minimum victories which is also good tv so i think that i think they're doing it right i i think survivor should always focus on creating the perfect environment for people to make choices on how to navigate rather than have a hard and fast rule of you can or can't look like have a conversation about it you determine yourself like that's on you guys and then you also have to deal with the repercussions in the group on your actions based on how disgusting there may be one person in this season feels about a certain act sure yeah that's that's my two cents i would be making the case you know if i if if i were like in a final three with joe and jonathan if they started saying they played with honor and integrity this would be one point i would have to say that wasn't very honor and integrity yeah okay yeah yeah right like you you win or you lose but on your own merits and and by the way and then i would say and by the way you're still lost i want so this is what i want i want jonathan and joe in the end both yelling at each other about what was actually honor and integrity i want just a full argument about what are you what honor and integrity means to them and just like accusations blame yelling screaming oh man that's a dream for me is but I don't really think so i see jonathan is separate from joe even though they seem to be working together i i don't see jonathan is saying that he's playing this huge honorable game like i don't feel like he's trying to make that claim i don't know i feel like he's trying to be more strategic that's his whole story right i learned from my last season i can't just be the challenge beast and i wasn't very strategic and now i'm going to be much more social and much more strategic and i learned from various past players and and like he is playing an extremely different game um than his first season and i'm going to be much more social and much more strategic and i learned from various time it feels like to me and i don't know i feel like he's just playing he i think he's playing a great game i actually do and i don't think that he's so caught up in in the honorable part of it i don't think he is either but if the honor and integrity group believes that he is he's going to have a hard time shedding that if he's like no i actually wasn't they're like but you said you were with us and he's like survivor they're like well that wasn't very right honorable i think that if if jonathan ends up in a final three and coach's question from the jury is something like i will vote for whoever played the most honorable game so present how you played with honor and integrity there will be some players who will basically be able to say you know what i never set out to play with honor and integrity and i didn't i set out to play the best game and they can just kind of own their game jonathan will i believe like fall into the trap of being like let me show you how i played with honor and integrity and kind of like blow up his spot maybe that won't happen but uh you know i think he's like enough in like he was one of the four horsemen right like once you're one of the four horsemen before the apocalypse yeah did he get coach's four horsemen did you erase this already um yeah tiffany wins and uh go back to camp aubrey needs a new plan and decides to target sari not only does she decide to target sari but she goes to one of sari's number one allies as her first conversation rizzo yeah now question before you continue does anyone at this point like we know does anyone know that rizzo is working with sari i don't think to the extent that they're number ones ish i don't think that they recognize that rizzo is locked in with sari that tight which is beautiful like i think it's a really good uh situation for both of them honestly and rizzo does recognize like because there is a moment like if you would have said sari to him two tribal councils ago he would have just ran back to sari and told her and aubrey would have been done like i think that i think that the timing was perfect i think aubrey's pitch about not being able to beat sari not having many more opportunities all of that i think swayed him and uh i think the thing that honestly swayed him the most but also shows us how good sari is at this game is when she pinned the information rizzo gave to her on aubrey this was so good oh that was phenomenal she knew she had information she knew that rizzo wasn't supposed to tell it to her she wasn't targeting rizzo so she pinned it on aubrey and i do believe it did leave a big question mark in people's minds for a lot of the afternoon yep yes yes that's where i felt like this is the master class in in survivor gameplay um for sari just to me always looks very calm she doesn't look like she gets flustered like i was like like this the whole time i was out there it was very stressful situation for me um and and i don't handle stress very well so i was anxious i was emotional i was stressed out um sari where she is the biggest target probably right in this game never she just looks calm and composed and everybody seems to be bringing her information on that hammock which we need to talk about the hammock um but everyone's bringing her information throughout this entire game she seems like she has a hand in every relationship and alliance and then she plants the seeds of what to do right like so that they think it's their idea like but then for her to turn that information and put it on aubrey um even though it didn't work out in the end what was was phenomenal in my mind i feel like and i think she obviously in between a rock and a hard place she has to do something she does this i feel like it had some power to it but i think when rizzo recognized that sari was doing that it gave rizzo more motivation and and reason to vote sari out like on heroes versus villains early on uh someone told me that sandra was telling everybody that coach and i had been having secret meetings in ponderosa before the game started and she heard them through the window none of that was true but i was like oh this is sandra's game so i went to sandra's like hey i recognize what you're doing let's just do it together like don't why are you targeting me to do like what is and she's like oh okay and you could tell she was like a little embarrassed that i i caught her uh but like we locked in at that point and i think that rizzo recognizing that sari was doing this was dangerous for him right but i also think like he knew at the like we i think that rizzo has never thought that he's going to be sitting next to sari at the end he's had this alliance all along but he was never going to want to be at the end with her so if he knows he doesn't want her in the final three and if he can get to the final five without playing that idol he's now in the final four where he doesn't want her to be then it feels like he knew this was the time right Ozzy is now gone and now it's time even if Ozzy had stayed in what if Ozzy was still here is Rizzo then still like are they all three still committed to going to the end together was Rizzo never going to do that I don't think Rizzo would want to sit next to Ozzy and Seri at the end how does he think that he could beat the two of them I just don't I don't see that so I think there was there's there had to have been a plan at some point that he had to turn on them I think like then the question is so he's losing he's definitely if he gets to the end he's lost Ozzy's vote like like that's not happening and I don't know about Seri so like then you have to weigh like was it the right time the right move I mean it's all timing in that moment I think if Ozzy were still in the end he would win it and they strong-armed Rizzo into going to the final three with him and they had that I think he might be stuck maybe not but I think that I feel like maybe there was a time when he was like yeah I will go to the end with these legends he's a huge fan of the game like he is an encyclopedia of the game like as a 25 year old fanboy what better story is there than going to final tribal council with Seri and Ozzy like that's an absurd story for someone who's loved survivor for his whole life I agree but if he it's just whether or not he thought he could actually beat them because I still think he's he's a huge fan of the game and like fanboying all these players but I don't think he's the type that would want to sit next to people he knew he couldn't beat I think he truly wants to win this game yeah I think so too but I also feel like there's part of you when you're going to the end that believes that you can win no matter who you go against maybe it's not like ideal but you're like there's still a chance there's still a chance I could pull this out if I just say the right things at the right time or or the jury receives it differently than what we think they're going to or I I don't know I think that's yeah I could be wrong there no I think you're right I think I probably can try to convince myself right like that I could win but there's not gonna be a chance yeah I mean you get to that point you gotta you gotta hold on to something yeah you do you do so I mean you're it's denial or whatever yeah yeah yeah and maybe yeah I mean the game would have been so different if Ozzy were still here and Sari and yeah so we there's no way of even knowing what would happen but we like to speak in hypotheticals here so Sari goes home that's I mean I had a note that said tribal council and then I read through the notes of tribal council I was like we don't need to go over that Sari has kind of hinted at this being her last time do you believe that are we going to see Sari again has she you mean on the show or off the show she's on the show okay oh no off the show off the show she has I think in social media see she might have hinted at it being her last time correct but uh exactly I feel like I've missed that then but yeah it could be her last time I think she has another show in her if they depending on when and what it was um I don't know how old she is now but I she certainly doesn't seem too old right that she she couldn't do another show at some point even if it was in 10 years um so she was so I'm looking at the cast list right now she was 54 when this filmed at least which is also the same age yeah which was the same age as Mike White and Chrissy and then Colby was 51 coach was 53 you know Colby was like that was clearly his last you know the send-off they did for him one last time Donaldson you know whatever this one it's like they didn't make it you know totally feel like oh this is the end for her to me I was like I feel like the door is still a little open like I don't necessarily expect it but I think it's open I'm not sure I think if she wants to play again she will be able to but I don't think she's going to be able to play again I don't think she's going to be able to I don't know if she will well Jeff did kind of say that he was like we love it when you say yes it almost sounded like they invite her every time yeah yeah yeah I think I could I mean but and here's to say whatever she was thinking at that point at the end of the game when she got voted out like she could think something totally different in in now like this many months later or in two years or 10 years um you know I think um you never know you hear other players saying like nope like that was it and then and then they go back um if they get the call so yeah yeah I could see her going back I mean it's what is this number five on on American Survivor so it's a lot is that the most that somebody tied for the most with Rob and Ozzy and Ozzy oh right I just think yeah I mean it was interesting that Ozzy and Ceri's goodbyes at the tribal council after they got voted out were very different like you could see the pain and the hurt in Ozzy and and how hard he took it and Ceri to like she just was like so grateful like to have had that opportunity and it just had a different more positive attitude and she had a hell of a run like this season assuming she was going to be an early target navigated extraordinarily like that I think this this season being reminded of why Ceri is so good at Survivor but this is like the perfect window to that for viewers so I think uh yeah it was exciting to see um and fun I thought it was going to be I thought it was going to be tough for her to add to her legacy and reputation this season just thinking oh she's going to be a really early target um and her her reputation is already so high and then you come out of it and you're like wow I think even more of Ceri after Survivor 50 right yeah I I mean she played a fantastic game I don't I can't think of any real missteps that she had along the way um maybe there were but I can't remember them but um every or or her edit just was so strong right like they just showed all the positives that um and you don't always see that sometimes you see people come back and and like they had this great season the first time and then they're right it doesn't go that way um and and then then mentally psychologically it really affects them where for this right it couldn't have gone better for her right so I don't see I don't see her stopping necessarily um yeah I don't know she should have drawn the same colored rock as Ozzy last week so they'd be on the same beach that was her one misstep yeah yeah what about playing the shot in the dark like I've kind of as this was building into she has played it yeah this this was building into the tribal council I was like no I thought Rick's I thought Rick's time playing it was the last time you could play the shot in the dark oh it was yeah you can't play it I think that's correct I think somebody said it's the last chance you can have to play the shot in the dark but why would it be at the final seven I don't really even under I I have a hard time following the shot in the dark and remembering it exists because we didn't have that in our season we don't see it that often and it doesn't play out that often uh okay never mind then it looks like it is final seven okay well so she couldn't so then she really and I was wondering about oh yeah go I was just thinking that the group was so small I'm sure she was just like I have to keep my vote uh that's why I assume she didn't play it but also I was like sorry you got out from advantage again you also uh lost Micronesia partly because it shifted to a final two from a final three because of whatever timing issues they had filming this is your moment like if anybody's hitting the shot in the dark on attempt number five at winning survivor it's gonna be sorry like uh I was so I was like sorry you're the person that's gonna hit it you should so but it makes sense if she couldn't play it then not even uh not even a debate not even a thing I was forgetting that like I thought it was strange when Rizzo was at the reward talking with Siri and Joe about his idol and should I play it tonight and and then I thought wait why is he even asking them like and then I thought oh well maybe because he's like saying we'll use I can save it one more time and maybe I use it for us as a threesome or something and then I remember my son reminded me at some point a week or two ago that and I remembered that like that boomerang idol can only play be played for yourself I don't actually think it can be played for somebody else so then it was like yeah he just likes to tell people that he might play it all the time hoping that that information spreads that's literally all he was doing was being like yeah well I'm probably gonna just play I should probably just play it tonight just because like why not you know and then everybody's like well we can't vote for Rizzo because he's gonna probably play his idol tonight he said probably yeah I mean it is interesting this has been oh okay this has been for this to happen back-to-back seasons for somebody to go this long right with the idol and nobody actually you know going for him is interesting um is that a testament of his good gameplay or is it a testament that nobody thinks he's a threat I'm I'm I'm thinking for this season for sure nobody thinks he's a threat right except for Tiffany really just wants that wants that gone or idol flushed um but nobody else seems to care is talking about it right I thought it was odd that Tiffany was in the hammock with Seri and when Seri was like I think the vote's on me and Tiffany was acting surprised like wait you do like how is she not seeing that like that of course Seri is like the next person to vote out like why was that a surprise to her the fact that Seri knew it immediately she was like the moment Jeff said Tiffany won the challenge I knew I was on the chopping block and she's like it's me and they're like you think so of course it is who else would it be yeah right and I wondered when I saw her saying that I was like oh well maybe she's in on it and she's going to turn on Seri so she's just acting surprised but then no she voted with Seri in the tribal council for Aubrey so no she really was surprised I thought that too it was interesting she didn't Tiffany didn't understand that Seri was probably going to be the target and Tiffany also didn't understand that everybody was against her in the challenge anything else from the episode before we get into Riley's reads I do have one more thing I wish they would have shown what happened to the relationship between Tiff and Aubrey because they were super close at the beginning of the season and then they slowly drifted apart and then Seri and Tiff were always on the hammock and then Aubrey's working with Jonathan like what's what happened why did that happen I think it would have been a really good storyline to have if we saw them kind of like break up a little bit and then we came to this episode we're like oh my gosh Aubrey's actually going to do it but we never I don't think we got enough footage of it or well they have footage of it but they didn't show it and I don't know why they didn't show it yeah that is interesting I agree I now that you're saying it right I'm wondering wait yeah what did happen there and I'm also thinking like with Aubrey's gameplay like Tiffany seemed to be the one person that she actually had the connection to who she was playing with you know we saw them join together and she was like thank you Tiffany oh my god you're like a lifesaver in this game and I don't know if Aubrey's had anyone else like that at any point like it doesn't seem like she's actually been in an alliance with somebody that was like you're my ride or die like we're going you know we're doing this together so that was seem that did seem like that was her only person yeah yeah that is weird it's true we saw so much footage of them of Tiffany feeding Aubrey information and protecting her all of a sudden to like not even conversations with each other really so yeah well we'll have to get to the bottom of it next week yeah Riley what do we have oh go ahead Julie what about the hammock we're not going to talk about the hammock breaking like what do you want to say about it it's funny it is yes I mean that hammock has had a lot of air time more air time than most of the other players that have been voted off and like the hammock was like like the office right where everybody had their like the water cooler right where you had your conversations the one thing you could rely on was the hammock yeah yeah I mean that's where all of Ceri's gameplay happened right all those amazing moves so like for that to like break and then like the and then obviously they fixed it and then the next time she came back and then she went to sit on it with Jonathan again and she sat on it like so gingerly to make sure it went I just thought it was funny yeah I voted for the hammock to break oh you voted for that yeah I voted for that I didn't know it was going to break on Ceri but I voted for it dang Riley's ruthless dude that was the right end vote he was like have the hammock break we did have the we did talk about the votes we got the final four challenge so we're going to see that next week we got fire making will it or won't it and the live finale which we as viewers already know is happening but they I guess in the game don't know yet so that'll be interesting to see how they reveal it well and then there's something like we don't know yet I guess probably the people who listen to this podcast will already know so maybe we should just cut this part but there's some sort of vote tonight too that Jeff said was coming are you sure not on the episode not on the episode but like in the there was like an article yesterday about some sort of additional fan vote I saw that and people were speculating is it going to be like who's the fan favorite and gets like a hundred thousand dollars or something that will reveal next week but then I thought I saw the article but then when when Jeff said in this episode about okay here are the three things that fans still have voted on but you won't find out until the finale maybe in the article that's all he was actually referring to and like it just came out in a different way when I watched it but it would seem like if they had Jeff talk about a vote we would see it but maybe not right so do you guys think there's going to be a fire making challenge or do you think the fans voted against it well I know I voted against it but I voted against it too but I also didn't vote for I didn't vote for a lot of stuff that happened so I don't know I'm prepared for the like wider survivor audience to let me down a little bit I think there will be a fire making challenge yeah so I don't know what do you think I think there'll be one but yeah did you vote for one I don't think I voted I'm not sure I voted on that I voted on something I'm sorry I'm sorry was all the voting at once or was it like this week you can vote it was spread out so I didn't vote for everything in the game I voted for a few things and now I have no memory of what it was that I voted well you can't complain if you didn't vote I don't complain I still complain Riley what do we got well I just want to go through the finale kind of rundown here we're at final five so we're going to have a final five vote something at final four to eliminate somebody and then a final three and ultimately a winner and I felt like we could just run through our predictions Tyson you and I both had Sari previously as a winner so we're wide open Ashley you might be still locked in on Tiffany tell us what you got Ashley who's the final three with Tiffany gosh final three with Tiffany well who goes home at five do the whole let's do the whole thing well we know Rizzo Rizzo's not going home yeah Rizzo's gonna make it or he's never gonna play that idol no he'll play it I know he's supposed to he's gonna play it he's gonna play it he's gonna be there I think man this is there's a lot of people here so I think they're gonna bring Joe to the end I feel like they're no matter what they're gonna bring Joe to the end just because of possibly him not getting any votes and then of course Tiff because she's gonna in my brain she's definitely gonna win because she's as everyone said this episode the strongest player out there if she was against Jonathan because I feel like if she was against Aubrey it'd be harder for her to get her votes so I'm thinking Jonathan would be a better person for her to be with against in the final three and I think he might have made people angry enough not to vote for him because I think with D Camilla she's not there she's not there is she oh and licking the rice you're right oh I mean that alone once Tiffany spills that at the final three I think that's gonna cancel out any votes for Jonathan so yeah I think my final three would be Jonathan Tiffany and Joe and Tiffany wins I think for who's going home next to like who's not making a to the final four I would think if Tiffany loses the immunity challenge she's gone because we just saw the entire they just talk that's all they talked about so if she doesn't lose I mean no if she wins it then yeah she's in it Rizzo's in the final four and then I think Jonathan's making it through or he could win the challenge and then he's definitely making it through I think Joe's making it through because nobody has ever brought up his name to vote him out that I know of so so then who's so I don't know so if Rizzo and I think Rizzo's a lot well we know Rizzo's a lot to stay in the final four Joe feels like he's going to the final four so then it's between Aubrey Tiffany and Jonathan if Tiffany loses I think she's gone and then you've got your final four Rizzo Aubrey Jonathan Joe I think Joe's making the final three because I think people want to bring him to the final three and then it's maybe Rizzo if people think they can beat him right if Aubrey thinks I can beat Rizzo we've seen that so it could be a Joe Rizzo Aubrey final three I don't know okay I can see Jonathan in there too I just don't think Rizzo's going to win because I don't you don't get a lot of content on people respecting his or talking about his gameplay or him being a threat so I don't think so so if it was Aubrey versus Joe now I would have to remember who's on this jury I mean the like honor and integrity people are Coach, Chrissy Stephanie and then it would be Jonathan right in this setup that feels like they'd vote for Joe but that's only four you need how many are we going to have on this jury I think it's 11 Rick probably wouldn't vote for Joe Christian, Emily Christian and Emily right they're not going to Yeah, I don't know what D is. yeah and d is hard to yeah interesting i don't know that that's the final three but i think that no i mean we're we're speculating well what do you think are the final three i think i think if tiffany does not win this challenge she's gone i agree with you and then i think if and i think that she won't and so i think that she'll go at final she'll be the final five vote um you know again purely speculating she could easily just win and then move on and then i think at final four i kind of think joe's gonna win i feel like he's really good like we saw you know here he's really good at these like steady sort of like endurance balance type challenges that tend to come up a lot at the end so i could see him winning final four it being a fire making and then it's like he probably perceives that the big threats to win are the big threats to win and then it's like he probably perceives that the big threats to win are both aubrey and jonathan and he puts those two in fire and he takes rizzo with him or does he put himself in fire is he a firefighter yeah and he probably right he might be thinking like that i mean there's a little bit like what chris did in my season right he gave me the necklace and put himself in fire and he was basically told by everyone on the edge of extinction when he was there you're gonna have to do this to to win the game like you got to make these moves but um i think that joe might maybe joe sees that i don't know yeah oh i had not considered that but that definitely could be the case but then so i think then it's um it's either aubrey or jonathan like whoever comes out of that winning i think and i feel like if i'm i just think that if jonathan won they wouldn't have showed him licking that rice uh so i feel like my gut is my gut is it's aubrey that's his that's his loser edit is just licking the rice there at the end that's me reading the edit is i'm just like i think they would have left that on the cutting room floor if he were our winner so i think it's interesting i think it's between tiffany and aubrey for the win i think they're looking at each other i don't think both of them are going to be in the end together unless it's something real crazy so i think they're going to be targeting each other it seems like aubrey has the momentum of pushing everything on tiffany so i feel like that's gonna happen um um so i think tiffany is going to be gone as soon as they can vote her out um and then i think like if you're if you're looking at people like joe yeah he's going to the end but who's he want to go to the end with and then who does so i think in order of who can win this thing now i think the favorites are tiffany and aubrey yeah if they get to the end they will win if they're against each other who knows um and then jonathan may be the winner um and then jonathan may be the outlier in third place for a victory outlier in third place for a victory outlier in third place for a victory with joe and rizzo having a real uphill with joe and rizzo having a real uphill with joe and rizzo having a real uphill battle towards getting enough votes to battle towards getting enough votes to battle towards getting enough votes to win win win yeah and so yeah and so yeah and so i believe that i think they're going to get tiffany and i i think they're going to get tiffany and i i think they're going to get tiffany and i think it's going to be think it's going to be think it's going to be aubrey rizzo aubrey rizzo aubrey rizzo and joe and joe and joe with with with the final three yeah so um yeah the final three yeah so um yeah the final three yeah so um yeah that's it i would like to see tiffany versus that's it i would like to see tiffany versus that's it i would like to see tiffany versus aubrey in a final tribal council aubrey in a final tribal council aubrey in a final tribal council that's that would be yeah that would be that's that would be yeah that would be that's that would be yeah that would be interesting interesting interesting yeah but it doesn't seem like they're yeah but it doesn't seem like they're yeah but it doesn't seem like they're gonna gonna gonna you don't think that that's gonna be able you don't think that that's gonna be able you don't think that that's gonna be able to happen i think they're gonna to happen i think they're gonna I don't think that's going to happen. I think if Tiffany wins immunity, she's going to push hard to get Aubrey and everybody will jump on. And if neither of them win immunity, I mean, if Aubrey wins it, I think she'll push for Tiffany. And then if neither of them win it, they're going to be like going at each other. Yes, yes. Rizzo maybe is the only hiccup there is if Tiffany's still hell bent on getting Rizzo out and she wins immunity at the right time. But Rizzo is going to play his idol next tribal council. He's not going. There's no way. There's no way. Why would you not play that? Yeah. All right. That'll do it here at The Pod Has Spoken. Remember to like and subscribe. Do all those things. We'll be back tomorrow with Exit Press. If you want to read two books that feature me, like I like to read, we've got these two in the background. The Tribe and I Have Spoken by my friend Rob Sesternino and Survivor Legends. I'm also highlighted in that one by Shan Merchant. Both of those are amazing reads. That's it. Julie, thank you so much for your time and energy and insight. We will give Rick all of your love tomorrow on our Exit Press. And Riley will give all of his love to Seri. Riley, are you doing okay? Because you said emotionally you probably would not be okay once Seri is eliminated. I'm doing okay because I feel like she did everything she could this season. And she didn't get out. She didn't get out by the game. It was by the players, right? It wasn't by a twist. It wasn't by something silly. It was she just ran into a dead end for the most part. And I'm so impressed and happy with what we got from Seri this season. So even though she didn't win, it was such a great showing. Now, if she had gotten the Jimmy Fallon twist and gone home, I don't know if I'd still be on this podcast. Okay? But she avoided that stuff. So it's good. We loved Seri this season. I had a great time with her. Good. Okay. That'll do it here. Thanks all for tuning in. Till tomorrow. See ya. Bye. Bye.

FAQs

Julie believes the Aussie move was a collaborative effort involving Jonathan, Aubrey, and Rizzo. While Jonathan claims it was his, Aubrey’s strategic use of information and Rizzo’s involvement suggest shared responsibility. The jury may ultimately decide who gets the most credit, but Julie notes it’s arbitrary and not always reflective of what actually happened.

Rick is seen as a strong jury threat due to his bold gameplay, consistent effort, and entertaining antics. However, some viewers believe the jury may appreciate his hard work over his behavior. His consistent performance and ability to win immunity make him a formidable player, though jury perceptions can vary based on personal biases and strategy.

Aubrey played a key role by sharing information with others during tribal council and using that knowledge to shift strategic targets. Her ability to call out others’ moves and adapt in real time gives her significant influence, and she is likely to gain credit for the move as a pivotal strategy.

Joe was criticized for suggesting the reward choice was strategic, especially since the group had already eaten. This was seen as a potential deception, and getting caught in a lie is viewed negatively in Survivor. It undermines trust and signals poor gameplay, even if the intention was to create a strategic impression.

Tiffany has been vocal about targeting Rizzo, especially due to his idol, and is seen as a growing threat. However, her focus on Rizzo rather than broader alliances suggests she may not be a top-tier threat to all players. Her strategy appears to be about eliminating specific targets rather than a broad, all-encompassing threat.

Rick’s antics, like dancing after finding an idol or licking dry rice, are seen as entertaining but potentially inappropriate. While they add humor and fun, they may also rub people the wrong way. His actions show a balance between strategy and entertainment, which is key to winning viewer appeal and jury support.
