Reality TV Rundown | 103

The conversation explores a personal journey from initial resistance to deep appreciation of reality TV, particularly shows centered on women’s lives and relationships. Initially viewing reality TV as chaotic or unrefined, the speaker reflects on how early exposure to shows like *Real Housewives of Atlanta* and *Workout* shifted their perspective—highlighting the power of female friendship, emotional authenticity, and cultural representation. Key moments, such as NeNe Leakes’ sharp dialogue and the “I don’t believe in fairness” *Project Runway* incident, are celebrated for their storytelling and realism. The discussion also touches on formative shows like *The Bachelor*, *Room Raiders*, and *American Idol*, which provided both entertainment and emotional connection during formative years. The speaker emphasizes how reality TV, especially women-led content, offers valuable insight into complex family dynamics, personal growth, and resilience. Ultimately, the conversation concludes with a lighthearted but sincere call to explore more reality TV, including Southern-based housewife series, and to consider participating in high-drama shows like *Love Island* or *Traitors*, rooted in a newfound respect for the genre’s emotional depth and entertainment value.

I used to have a boyfriend. I could have gone anywhere. Okay. Tell me about him. And he said to me, I don't think you should watch Real Housewives of Atlanta too early in the morning. Because when you watch it too early in the morning, you start looking for a fight. And after I started doing this podcast with you, I'm on his team. He wasn't wrong. He really wasn't wrong. I would be watching it together, and I'd be like, looking for a fight. Just looking for something to fight about. Going out looking for dust. I was like, are you ready yet? Are you ready? Can we go? Oh, finally. Horrible. What can I say? I love reality TV. And I used to be one of those people who would turn up their nose at reality TV. Oh, yeah. Snob. And now I'm like, no, women's stories matter. Yeah. They just matter. And truly, some of the best reality TV I've seen have been women's friendships breaking up, coming back together, and that true sisterhood of Bravo is really important to me, genuinely. Yeah. I never stuck my nose up at reality TV, People's Princess. But I definitely thought I was too pure-hearted for it. I was like, oh, I can't take on the emotional turmoil and just the below-the-belt comments, acting like my mom. I was like, my mom isn't from Oakland, and I'm not a bitch. I was like, okay, girl. But I was like, this is crazy. You're like, you? Yeah. But I, and then I realized, like, oh, no, like, I, this is what raised me. I just took a break. I took five. Yeah. I took a cigarette break, and I came right back. That's true, because growing up, I did watch a lot of reality TV. Yeah. Not a ton. There were some that I wasn't allowed to watch. Yeah. The Osbournes. And that's on having a black parent. Like, that's so, I think once my aunt wouldn't let her kids watch it, because she said, look how they talk to their parents. Like, no, we're not going to do that. We're not playing that here. That's a different kind of white. But we, today, are going to do, like, a dedicated reality deep dive. Yes. We'll start with, like, the OG shows that raised us both right and wrong, move into a little bit of, like, competition show faves, because there's so many, it's such a diverse pool of content. And then we'll end on exactly where you think we'll end on, which is housewives. Home. We can tuck Hunter into bed. Yeah. So, yeah, I guess let's, here we go. Let's get into it. Let's get to know each other, shall we? So, you, Nepo Baby, were almost on a reality TV show? Yeah. Tell us about that. Oh, my God. I wonder if I signed an NDA. I guess I'll find out. For a canceled show. You're still locked into that contract. What do they do? But I, there was going to be a show about People Magazine. And if you, if anyone remembers correctly, if anyone really goes deep in my lore. Yeah. I ran that shit like the Navy. Let's be clear about that. And I did their, like, I led social for a long time there. And so part of the reality show was going to be me and a few people who didn't work at paper ever just kind of planted in. But, you know, they needed some personality. Yeah. And so we flew to L.A. for like a week and like shot a pilot episode. And mind you, I was young then. I think I was like, I don't even know. You're so young now. Of course. I mean, I looked the part at least. But my phone. My phone, because I was that version of young, though, shattered. So I'm getting filmed doing social content, like pitching ideas for like digital whatever with like a cracked phone. Shattered. Not even, not like tape was holding it together. I said production couldn't even fly me in a new iPhone. I'm like, you guys. But that's showing the artist's way. That's showbiz, baby. That's so funny. And it was, I just think for the, I'm not going to say the talent name, but DM me and I'll tell you. But it was a total, total mess. And it ended up almost looking like Black Friday. And that's all I'll say. So we didn't get greenlit. Wait. Let me just. I didn't expect it. I know. She is kind of everywhere, though. She does go to those random stuff. She might catch a case. She kind of would do that, though. She kind of would. Someone's like, it's a good idea. She's like, okay. So that's the second, the first time I was almost on. Wife swap. Wife swap. Yeah. And my mom sense was like, no, my dad, foolish, was like, let's do it. But no. So we suggested a different family instead. But yeah. I love that you were almost on wife swap. You, I'm, that could have like made your career. I would have given King Curtis a run for his money. Yeah. You know me as a kid. I was acting up. I act up still. I'm 32 and I'm acting up. But that's my, and that's my reality TV lore. But. I was never almost on reality TV. But the time might come. And I would answer the call. You're going to be okay. You're going to be a friend of one day. We all know that. I can't wait. But I want to know, like, what is your reality TV at the very least? Like OG, like watches. Like what were your favorite things to binge as a kid? Okay. I was thinking about this last night and it's, I've always been an ally. Okay. I watched the show workout. It was on Bravo. It was about a lesbian personal trainer and her like, yes, it was, I think her name was Jackie something. And she had this girlfriend who was much younger and very petite and the girlfriend was so annoying. And the whole time she was like, I don't know. The whole show was like her managing her like other queer staff and then like her annoying girlfriend. I've never heard about this. Yeah. I looked up the woman last night on Instagram. She has like probably 30,000 followers. Like it's so OG. It was like 2006 Bravo, like pre Housewives. It was crazy. I was watching that. That's insane that you were watching that, but she's been putting in the work for years. Yeah, exactly. That's how you found me. Okay. Keep going. We're written in the stars. I was watching that. I was watching Atlanta Housewives from season one, episode one. Of course. And I was watching, my mom watched Flavor of Love. So I'd watch sometimes that with her. And I also watched The Bachelor. I was a big Bachelor girl growing up. My mom and I would watch it together. And I mean, this was like before you had influencers. Yeah. And we would talk about, you know, like what's like appropriate, what's inappropriate, like what's respectful, what to look for in a man. Crazy. You and mom sitting down watching me. It was like our night too. And I remember. Two, because my mom worked at a TV station that they would all talk about reality Steve, like reality Steve and the winners. And that was, yeah. You're kind of my reality Steve now. In some ways. Reality. I'm trying to remember. I can't think of it. I'm not clever right now. And then also the MTV shows, of course. Of course. The hits. Room Raiders. Golden. Oh, and Trading Spaces. What was that one again? That was the show. I remember this one time that they made a big Lakers backyard for this guy who loved the Lakers. And I always watched it. And I always wondered, like, I wonder if he still loves the Lakers. Hope so. Anyway, but that was one where a black family and a white family, the neighbors had swapped houses and they were doing like renovations. And the black mother, it's like viral on YouTube. The black wife goes out there. She's like, oh no. The basement? Oh my God. Oh no. She's like, oh, I hate this. Oh, I hate that too. Oh no. Hunter, that couple is us. It's a big reveal. And you know why it is us? Because it's you being like immediately no. And me laughing. Yeah. Being like, she gon' pay. She gon' beat your ass. I'm like, oh no. I'm just laughing because I know you're in trouble. And also, he's like, oh, and look at that. And she's like, oh no. They wanted a prince theme, right? And there's a little tiny Corvette in a corner. Yes. Bro, don't piss me off. I loved those Get a House HGTV shows. I loved them. I was very into that. I didn't really, HGTV was like never my gospel, but all of the MTV shows were. Even like, remember Pimp My Ride? Oh, so you want to be a player. But you're right. You better hit us up for a pimped out ride. That's a social clip right there. That was good. I was so nervous for that. You gotta pimp my ride. Bring that back. Actually, they broke a lot of laws. They broke a lot of laws about it. Well, I mean, it's like, what kind of car are you driving? You need a jacuzzi in the back. Jacuzzi in the back. Yes. That was for my, in my, but as a kid, I'm like, that's fucking sick. Why am I getting in a Toyota Corolla right now? And you know what else? As a kid, my super sweet 16. Oh, of course. Yeah. Deanna Taylor. That show, I was mad at my dad for years. I said, why can't I have a super sweet 16 like that? That was really good representation for bitchy, privileged black girls. Yes. And also, this is so Oklahoma. Watching my super sweet 16, I said, the richest people in the world own, guess what? Car dealerships. Yeah. They are the rich families. The car dealership. And it's like, obviously they're on that show because they can get cars for free. No, you could not tell me that was like, not the height of love. Not the height of luxury. I know. Okay. Reality TV, like OG hits for me. Mm-hmm. Tila Tequila shot at love. Because bisexuals exist. But she should not. And she is bisexual. Happy bride, I guess. This is what pride brings out in her. She starts acting different. Okay. We see each other. I think like, oh, I think class looks like the hills. I didn't do Laguna Beach, but I like, I was a hills girl. I love it. I love like the room Raiders. I loved Next Bus. Oh, of course. That was just camp. Deep Cut, Bret Michaels, Rock of Love. I was smitten. I was smitten over Bret Michaels. I'm gay now, of course. Totally. Because that's like, not lip filler. Totally. Or maybe they're natural. I don't know. Let me know in the comments if you know. And then, of course, another woman who Raiders does. Yes. Tiffany Pollard. Ugh. On a little show called Flavor of Love. And then I love New York. But what a woman. What a, what, she really paved the way. She's still singing no matter what. And she's been through so much. That was, it's crazy to watch someone, like to watch a show and you're like, oh, there's the star. She's right there. I don't care about anyone else on the show but her. And like the consistency in like, in everything she's done since is just fantastic. I mean, I think that there was a big moment and I'm so glad she's back in the limelight now that I felt so badly that like she didn't get to make her career as lucrative as all these new girls popping up now, right? Because you weren't getting like brand new after brand new. Social media was less of a thing then, right? Yeah, you're really looked down upon. Yeah, and I think now, again, I'm so glad she's getting her flowers. She's still booked on, did you see House of Villains? I watched a little of it. Oh, yeah. That big brother, like she's still, you know, in the zeitgeist, thank God, and hopefully getting paid just 10 times more. But she really, she did it for every girl that came after her for real, including us right now. Okay, are there any like iconic reality TV lines that are burning your little brain? Yes. A few. Well, on being Bobby Brown. Yes. Aired on Bravo for one season. Bobby, Bobby, it's okay, it's Mother's Day and he's like, okay, well, we're like on vacation with his family, of course. And he's looking at Woody, he's like, go and put your shoes on. She's like, go, yeah, yeah, okay. Okay, okay. Me. He's like, we're going to go. She's like, it's Mother's Day. It's not all everybody day. Why? You're supposed to leave your kids at home, not bring them with you. It's Mother's Day. And then later in the episode, I wrote this for the newsletter a couple weeks ago. It cuts to this little boy that she's like a nephew that she's talking to. And she's like, it's you, isn't it? You're the one who brought all these kids with you. You're the kid person. And he looks like. He's like, I'm sorry. He's like, I don't want to be here either. And then, of course, because Bobby Christina is on the show a lot and it's really, really, I became very emotional watching it in present day because it's just like, wow, how devastating. I know, yeah. But incredible TV. We should have sunglasses on for this. I know, I know. We should recreate that on TikTok. I mean, a ton of, a ton of Bravo lines that we can get to later. Yeah, yeah. One of my favorites is, one of my favorite episodes of reality TV is the Wifesop episode with King Curtis, who is just this little kid who just wants to eat chicken nuggets. And God bless him. Like if I'm siding on the, like the little hick family. Wait, is that the white kid? Yes. Who's like about to get a bendle and a stick and go hitchhike home? And did. He went to, it's like, King Curtis has left and gone to his grandmother's house. That's literally how it's announced. He's like, I keep making deals. I keep losing at deals. He's me. He's me as hell. And she, he's talking about this strict wife swap mom. And who's black? Who's black? Of course he's black. She's like, we're taking out the junk food. And he riots, mind you. And he's like, she thinks I'll shave the princess and we're the sorry people. And it's so funny. I hope he's well and probably. Absolutely. No, of course. Of course. Like was at January 6th. But that really brings up for me. I don't have a specific line from it, but Super Nanny. Go in a crisis, I'm on my way. I didn't really watch that. I just watched that gif a lot, to be honest. I watched it. I watched it. And then like the one, is Super Nanny the one where it's like, she's dark sided. No, I don't know that one. You know the one? Yeah, I don't know that one. Brain rot, brain rot. A line that's of course just fabulous is, you know, I would let Gemma know that she is a fat cunt and the shoes she gave me were not something I would particularly buy for myself. They were old maiden type of shoes. And she said those shoes were meant to be worn on a beautiful woman. So if that's the case, she should have put them back on the rack where she should have never purchased them because she was unqualified to own those shoes. I think that Gemma is a disgrace. She's a disgrace to humanity and she's a disgrace to women who are actually beautiful and classy and just doesn't have the vernacular and the skills that she thinks she possesses. Somebody lied to her. Somebody lied to her several times, told her that she was fly, hot, and sexy and beautiful and she is nothing like that. She is nothing of the sort. And that was just off the dome. That is like iambic pentameter. Like that's something really incredible and special and it's giving genius. She really came out the woman in the know. Yeah. I believe her when she said that. Yeah, so did I. I have a similar experience. That tests everything, everything that woman does. I didn't watch Bad Girls Club, but I don't know. I was young. I saw this video on YouTube where the woman has the pots and pans and she's like, I didn't get no sleep because of y'all. Y'all didn't get no sleep because of me. And she does it a couple of times and everyone just like stays asleep. She says, okay, I'll get something louder. The way that she says, okay, I'll get something louder. That's like my favorite. It's like such a stem in my head where it's like, oh, we're just going to go. Let's go harder. Why not? I love when it's not the line that everyone knows. It's like actually the aftermath that hits even harder. So many of those. Luann Singh. Not really. Yes, so good. Oh, so many. We're going to come back to that in a second. But until then, are you looking for a safe space for your secret celebrity opinion? Do you need someone who understands your latest internet obsession? We're best friends who connect over fussing and discussing all things pop culture. We're your first stop after that TMZ push alert from Higher Ground Audio. I'm Peyton Dix. And I'm Hunter Harris. And this is Let Me Say This. Let Me Say This. Let Me Say This. Let Me Say This. It changed my life. I thought Survivor was something you watched in a hospital waiting room. Absolutely. Uh, no, this is life and art. It was, it, I went crazy. I've watched so many seasons in the last two years. Um, it's incredible television. I had no idea. I am now such a Survivor person. Yeah. And I, oh, I love it so much. Are you watching the current season with that? No, I don't like watching it live. I like watching it. I like to binge it. I have a certain way that I like to watch it. Um, I'm talking about like the race war season. The season with Coach, season with Cowboy. That was a race war season. Um, Ozzy. Oh, you would love Ozzy. And who was that one guy? Oh, well, Parvati, of course. Of course. And Serene, of course. I saw that one video of her standing. Oh, on the pole? Yes, on the pole. Yep, at the Mike White season. Oh, Natalie, can I have your jacket? Can I have your jacket? You don't know what you don't know. I don't know. I'm actually like, I know that I would love Survivor. I'm just like, it seems so daunting to start. There's so many seasons. The way that you have to watch Survivor is that you, you have to watch Survivor. You have to have a wise gay man who will tell you what season to watch in what order. As mine said, to get you on a path to micronesia. Well, you've seen the gay men I keep around me, so they ain't leading me nowhere good fast. I'll tell you that. I would never say that because I love them and I'm Natalie. Yeah. Um, but that was, that was like kind of my first time watching a competition show. Yeah. Other than like American Idol or The Bachelor, Bachelorette. Um, I had no idea how satisfying, I'm not a gamer. You know, I have no idea how satisfying it is to like watch someone play games on TV. I mean, I would kill one of the endurance challenges. I'd be so good. I could not do the eating challenges. I couldn't eat a bug. I couldn't do that. Wait, would you say that Big Brother is a game? Like if you come from Big Brother, it's gamer. Yeah, I've never watched it though. Oh, okay. I was just curious because I was like, oh, I couldn't, I don't know if I could do Survivor because I don't want to be outside like that, but. I do. Well, hello. But now they used to switch locations on Survivor. Right. Like different islands, but eventually, um, Jeff Probst didn't want to leave Fiji. So now everything is set on the same island. However, now they give you quite a lot of stuff to start. You have a certain like amount of race and some fresh water, I think. So it's not exactly how it used to be, but on the race war season in the Latina tribe, which Ozzy was on, um, they were thinking about like voting him off the island. And he said, who gets all the food? What are you guys going to eat? Right. So don't vote me off. I loved it. That was just sense. Sense of sensibility. Loved it. And Ozzy is hot as fuck too. And our OnlyFans. Which is the, oh, love it. Multi-hyphenate. What's the race war season? What up? Cook Islands. Do you like, uh, is it called race wars? Race war? You just nicknamed it that? No, it's not called race war, actually. Well, sometimes it's, I think we're just transferring. It's on the CBS of today. Um, cause I was like, maybe I'll give it a watch. Maybe that's where I'll start. No, it is a really good place to start. I also would recommend the first Mike White season. If you're wanting to watch Survivor, the Mike White season is such a good season cause you already come in rooting for someone. Yeah, yeah. Um, it also has a ton of good gameplay, a ton of good characters. There's one iconic photo to me of Mike White on a beach drinking red wine, just like fucking over it. Yeah. Of course he's good at the game cause he's a TV producer. Um, but he really is like playing. He's game playing. Ooh. And, um, what else about that season is good? Um, I think that season is Brains vs. Braun. No, that's not it. I think it's, um, yeah. I think that might be Brains vs. Beauty vs. Braun. Oh no, David vs. Glock. that's that season oh yeah but loving the titles wishing Razor was real Yeah, no, I wish. Well, I guess speaking of shows that have been on for forever, American Idol. Used to be that girl. I haven't watched in a minute. Maybe it's still that girl. Well, some of the judges shouldn't even be judging. Anyone specifically? Never mind. And she ate that and she was right to say it. Okay. That was Patti LaBelle, everyone. That was Patti LaBelle. Were you blowing up the phone lines at home voting? I was blowing up every phone line I had. I was in my mom's purse. I was in my dad's jacket. I was on the landline. I was doing everything. My vote matter. My vote count. We used to vote in this country. This country used to be a country. I used to love American Idol and I would watch it with my, it was like really, even amidst my parents very clearly on the brink of divorce, it would still bring us together in the family room, watching and voting. Was American Idol your ministry? It was, but it was hard because I think it aired on TV. It aired on Tuesday nights, at least one of the nights, and I wasn't allowed to watch TV on Tuesday nights because I was at my dad's house that night. Oh. So I kind of, that divorced kid stuff. Shoot. Okay. Well, do you remember, did you have any like favorites or? Oh, well, Ruben Sutter, of course. Sorry for 2004. That song is a banger. I voted Clay Aiken though, sorry. And, oh, speaking of race war. It's the mixed. It's the mixed. Also, of course, Fantasia. Oh, yes. Yeah. And Jennifer Hudson. Jennifer Hudson at the time. And then look what happened. Her show. Now you got a moment to pick. That's what happened. Honestly, the American Idol star to me, different time. Bo Bice. See, you say different time, and that could be you today. That's not surprising to me at all. Oh, of course, but knowing what I know now. What do you know now? He's like a huge Republican. He's so racist, of course. But, but, but, can you sing? I mean, the art and the artist. It's like Bo for Bo Bice, you know what I mean? I love me some Bo Bice. I loved his gray. I love my mom and I were like, he's hot. But honestly, I feel like one of the biggest, like, cultural moments after that show was from Justin to Kelly. Did you press play? Miss independent. Miss self-sufficient. She was working on the beach. Mind her business. Yeah. That was such a good movie. Miss almost grown. You're going to hit the court. Where are we going to go? We're going to get the bridge. I know the whole idea. I know it all. So, I mean, what was the name of the album? What was the name of Kelly Clarkson's album? Oh, Breakaway was a big one. I did a monodance of that for sure. I know you did. And I tore it up too. Roaring applause. Standing O. But that movie, oof, made me believe in love. Breakaway? Now, wow, what a moment. Yeah. What a moment. I will, behind these hazel eyes, beautiful disaster. Here I am, once again. And guess what? After all she's been through, and she's still singing. And she's botting a few of y'all. Y'all better be careful. Don't let, don't let, I almost said Kelly Pickler. That's a different one. Don't let Kelly Clarkson find your song. Find your best track. She'll lap you on it. Do not let her. And it's hard to have Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson on TV at the same time. Yeah. And it's like, so. But Kelly Clarkson ended her show, right? It's over now? Yeah. It's sad. The wrong one ended, in fact. Unfortunately. However, I did see a tweet once that said something along the lines of, it's actually crazy how American Idol had one job and nailed it immediately. Yeah. Immediately. Yeah. The job was to find the best singer in America, and they did it. And now, well, I guess we're on season 25. Is J.Lo a host now? No. Is J.Lo a judge? I have no idea. Or judge, yeah. I saw Pay Attention to the Judges after Nicki and Mariah. And that was a moment. And that's fair. They said, no worries about the singers. We got to have some drama judge. Judge drama. We don't even care about them anymore. Yeah, that was, I wish it hit the same way, but I don't know. It is what it is now, whatever. I don't watch any of the talent shows, but I know you are a, so you think you can dance? I would, like, bop ma on my leg, but my toes are out, so I don't know. I don't want to give everyone that right now. And I know what bop ma means. Yes, she does. She said, kickball change, five, six, seven, eight. I was a so you think you could dance diva, but I do think so you think you can dance. I'm being very real for a second. I think so you think you can dance gave birth to a lot of, like, trendy competition performance type of dance. Where, like, the Tate McCray thing we talked about a few, like, a couple seasons ago. Dancers versus movers. Yes, where it's like, you're not storytelling with your movement. You're just him. Hitting a mark. And I think one of the best performances, which is why I kind of stopped watching it. One of the best performances was season eight, Sasha and Kent dancing to You Made a Fool of Me. If you pause this podcast, go watch that on YouTube right the fuck now and then come back. It's the kind of dancing that's like, oh, she I think she was a runner up, but she was the only dancer. I didn't have like these crazy, like crazy extension and a bunch of turns, but she had passion drive. And storytelling and stage presence. She had it all. I loved her. She was everything to me. That turned me out. Was that your gospel ever? Does it sound like it was? I'm just nodding along, girl. I'm just, oh, whatever you say. And I agree with you, too. Well, I'm being correct. So, you're on the right track. No, I was over there watching Project Runway. You were. Oh, some Wendy Pepper, some Santino. That was season one. Those are words to me. No, I remember watching. I remember watching Project Runway early season when they still kind of did the they would have the camera in the like the dorms that they lived in. Oh, and this one. I swear to God this happened. It might be like a Shazam thing where it didn't actually come true. But I think it happened where a white girl puts her clothes in a closet and like goes out to like go to mood and buy fabric and stuff. And this black girl comes in. She says, anyone here? No. OK. Takes her clothes out of the closet, puts them in the hallway and says. She says, I don't believe in fairness. And moves into that room. And the white girl was like, wait, why did you do that? She said, I don't believe in fairness. You weren't here. I took it. I wanted this room. I'm going to win this. I need the best room. I can't really argue with that. No, I think about it all the time. What are we going to do? Convince you to believe in fairness? Then I look like a fool. He says. No. But Project Runway really held me. I'm talking about when it was on Bravo. I didn't know that it's even been with us for that long. Oh, yeah. Yes, it has been. Yes, it has been. I loved it. Tim Gunn, Make It Work, Nina Garcia, Heidi Klum. That's the moment I locked in with 5, 6, 7, 8. Even to dinner. Oh. Yeah. That was, that was a, yeah. I mean, that, that was a kind of like after the prime, according to me. But, but no, I was. Ain't that one line though? I watched marathons during the day in the summer. I'd just be like, let's just lock in. I loved this one. And there was one time that he won a Barbie competition. And he said, Uncle Nicky just won this for my niece. And it was so cute and sweet. And unfortunately, you know, as most reality TV does, it gave us a true villain, which is every Christmas you're in a dress, you see it on a red carpet or down a wedding aisle. But has he been hosting for a really long time? He wasn't. I thought he was new for some reason. No, no, no. He was a competitor on the show. Oh. Yeah. I did not know that. Yes. That makes sense. Yes. And he was a wedding. And he was a winner from like one of the early seasons. Yeah. Oh. Mm-hmm. Got it. Mm-hmm. Got it. I know everything I need to know now. Honestly, competition shows that are taking it right now, since all of our OGs are not, traitors. Oh, well, would you be a traitor or a faithful? And you know that answer. I know I'm a faithful. Both. Bisexuality. Okay. No, a traitor, of course. What would you be? Fatal. I would be both. I would want to, here's what I would want to do. I'd want to like pair up with the traitor and act like, oh my gosh, like, I'm not going to tell anyone. And then at the last minute, turn on them. Wait, that's actually ideal is like faithful. And then you get, and then you get brought in at like a peak moment as like the show is, you know. Oh, like get recruited. Yeah, get recruited. Yeah. Yeah. That I think would be like dream cast, I guess. What I do love about the traitors though, is that I like the way that they bring together gamers, like from Big Brother. Yeah. Whatever. And housewives, because they have different, you know, mindsets, agendas. I wish the housewives were a little bit more strategic, but it is funny to see these gamers say like, so what's the strategy? I don't know. And they're like, just stay alive, I guess. I don't know. I will say like a moment that was like, maybe I could dabble in that straight stuff again was watching, was it Phaedra with CT? Dabble in that straight stuff again. I can return to, I can figure it out. You would so be a faithful. Yeah. I'd be a faithful trying to convince people I'm a traitor. Class president three times in a row. You would so be a, they said term limits. I can't help it. Pure heart. Whatever. Okay, wait. Well, perfect transition. Okay. If we're talking about some housewives, let's be talking about some housewives. - Let me kick off my heels. Come take your bra off, girl. Yeah, get comfortable. Wait, when did you get into the Housewives? I guess Atlanta, you said. Yeah, I was watching Atlanta in 2008. And it's season one of Atlanta is really to watch a present day too. It's like a fascinating time capsule. It's right after Obama was elected. And you see this like, you know, just like a different type of black woman being shown on reality TV as being successful. And wealthy and, you know, like not just related to like a male gaze. And it's just fascinating. And that was when the show was a lot more about like sort of fly on the wall. Like how do rich people live? But NeNe Leakes, when I tell you, Remy's middle name was Lanidia for a reason. Where is your scooter? I said what I said. Wait, what's the one that sometimes me? When the girl comes up to her, came up to her. That was not even on the show. But there's this one video of NeNe at like a bistro. And this girl comes up. NeNe's like, hi. Oh, hi. Okay. It's so funny. It's so funny. But back to what you're saying about my favorite lines. The best lines in Housewives are like the line after the famous line. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Where after NeNe says, I said what I said. And Candy says, well, what you said was symbolic. Bullshit. And NeNe says, well, okay, so what else? What else? You want to move on? You want to talk about it? What else? I like when she says, don't make me call Portia. I don't even know the context, but I'm like, oh. She has such a way. It's not just a way with words. It's a rhythm with words. Like she knows exactly when to pause. And like, you know, the inflections are perfect. Yes. And the fact that she, I mean, that's kind of the linchpin of a like alpha housewife. Is that you really do want to be friends with people. And you are friends with people. And I love the way every season she said, we're going to have a girl's bonding trip. That's exactly how she does it too. Bonding trip. Dressed like a grandma. I love it. But she doesn't miss a thing. She's so funny. And now why am I in it? Now see how I get brought into something. I didn't even do nothing. This is basically just an episode of us quoting like iconic women. And it's not so wrong. Okay, so what cities are you fluent in? Frequent flyer. Well, you know, I am late to housewives. I started with Potomac during COVID when I was in LA with my mom. We started it together. And my mom, of course, was obsessed with Giselle and was like. She has the light eyes. Okay. You know, light skins be choosing light skins. That's how it goes. Not me though. Oh, Lord. I can't say it. But my mom like became like entranced with these. She was like, when we finished, she was like, I wonder what they're up to now. Like, I was like, let's just check their Instagram. I could tell you. But that I really enjoyed Potomac a lot. I think it was a harder entry point to me because I could feel the production element in it and the performance element a bit too. But something we talked about that I really love is like the relationship between like the older, like a Karen, like the grand dom. And then like these younger, maybe like Ashley or even Giselle to a certain degree, like aspiring to be her. And I really like that dynamic. I think it's really fun to play with. And then from there, I dabbled in, but didn't. I think Finnish, Atlanta, New York, Salt Lake, I finally put my toes into and really loved. Okay. And now, I mean, just press play on Rhode Island. So I'm kind of doing that thing where like, I know a lot about a little, you know. I'm just like, I'm just nosy. So I watch a few, get familiar enough and then get the fuck out of there. I really am a completist when it comes to housewives. Yeah. Okay. Except for someone did get mad at me because. I was watching Beverly Hills and I said, I'm like skipping half of this season. Cause like nothing is happening in like some early Beverly Hills. It's like, it's pretty slow. Was that when you were working to get to that dinner scene? But as I did watch five seasons of Beverly Hills, which are a lot of boring episodes where nothing happens. It's Kyle being a demon. Kyle's gay. One is gay now. Yeah. Happy bride. Not to her. Yeah. Vile Kyle. I watched all of them. I watched all of those seasons to get to a dinner, the Amsterdam dinner where Lisa Rinna breaks her glass and Kim Richards looks at that woman and says, you beast. Yeah. Beast. Beast. And when I tell you, I've maybe never made a better decision in my entire life. Yeah. It was worth it. I had to, I had to go through the mud to get to the promised land, to be able to understand every single, like. Just whiff of drama and cruelty, because it's really crazy to watch. The way that Kyle Richards treats Kim on the show is absolutely crazy. Yeah. We have a ton of cities already, but like, what should be the next Real Housewives nation? The real next Housewives city. Where should we go? Unless I'm missing it, I feel like we should get some Southern bells involved. Do we have anything down South besides? Just Atlanta. What do we have? Yeah. And Miami. The Watcher Crapman's men told us that that was a really good one. I've heard that a lot. There's a lot of gay guys. Yeah, but I feel like I want, like, there's somewhere in Texas. Well, like in Nashville. Yeah, yeah. Or Nashville. Or even a, you know where I went one time? That was crazy. I guess Charleston. Is that the place where they do a lot of Bachelorettes? Yeah. Yeah, maybe. Yeah, I don't know. I just want to get a little bit more South with it. They do have Southern Charm, though. I've never watched that. And I'm probably not going to. Summer House is the only, like, non-Housewife Broadway show that I watch. Same, actually. Okay, but for you, what do you think is the most underrated Housewife? Dinner scene? This is hard. I, now there are the classics, of course. Yeah, yeah. Of even throwing her leg. Life's not a fucking cabaret. Well, Candy, why don't you go find a studio where we can drop some beats? That's another, that's from Rody, Roa. But what I, the one that I really love is a kind of middle season Atlanta episode where Michelle, just a random friend of, comes on the show for like two episodes wearing this latex dress that looks crazy. And she says to Eva, oh, you know my friend. Oh, we've actually met before. Eva says, well, how, where, where would that be? She said, well, my best friend is your best friend. She said, well, how have we never met before? And she said, oh, we have actually. You just keep forgetting. I'm that bitch. I'm Yvonna from Clark, C-A-U. It is so good. I love it. I love a woman who has 20 minutes on screen and makes the most of it. Yes. Yeah. It's incredible. It's really cinematic. And that's why I wasn't that mad at Carl's mom. So, diva. But I love the woman that's raised us. I think that's why we are, what? Not well in the head, of course. And I'm happy to be that. Me too. Thank God for Tiffany Poehler and thank God for NeNe Leakes. You're welcome. Send them a thank you note right now after this. Listen to this podcast. It's a great podcast. Happy Mother's Day. Yeah. Okay. Well, to close us out, if you had to go on one reality TV show, any type of show, what would you choose and would you win? Why? My easy answer is Traitors. And yes, I would win because I was class president multiple times in a row. That's why. The true answer is Love Island. And I've unfortunately been told that I have the personality and often the body to succeed on that show. So, you know, whatever. Girls, I'll be honest. I'll be in Fiji for a little. Why not? That is really high praise, actually. Yeah. Shout out to Sarah Hockey. What about you? What would you go on? I would love to be on Love is Blind. I would love to be in a love triangle on Love is Blind where, you know, like this dumb boy picks another girl over me. So I get to have all the drama, go like super hot at the cocktail party. I would love that. You keep that show in business. I do too. You do. There's a man on that show who feels like he's going to be on Love is Blind. Who failed his sleep apnea test because he was cheating on his girlfriend. Yeah. And that doesn't make you want to press play? Well, how about to you, audience? What show would you go on and why? And what show would you see us on? And don't tell us why. That's our CTA. Tell us.
