This was an unbelievable one o'clock window. Awesome four o'clock window and then an all-timer on the Sunday night game Nate ties joins us every Monday from Yahoo Sports and football 301. Let's start real. The chamber commerce on the call with that one filled in up Baltimore in Dallas and historic stadium. The shots were great and everything. Let me just let me let you go first because I felt like my notes. If this was a game story and I had a right for a newspaper with a deadline, you would just be writing two entirely different stories even though all the same things happened. Yeah, even when I had to you know recap the game because I've created my own monster and like trying to do in depth X's nose takes right after games. I kind of was like all right, this was the big drive for the team. This was the big drive for that team. This was the big and it was just like one after another. So I kind of felt like that away. Also a nice natural quad box by the way. I love when there's four afternoon games and I don't have to worry about that. I can just do that multiple. Yeah. Just get all the four. The natural quad box is always the goal. No, but I this I really thought these were two good but flawed teams going at it and that's kind of you know, I'm going to have some questions about some other teams that we talk about where I don't know how high I can get on everybody because the flaws are so glaring for for the Cowboys. It's the back end of their defense. The front played much better shown up in those short yardage plays. Jason Barham looks like a star which isn't just those flash plays in short yardage. It's those that he's done this in a preseason. He did in practice during apparently training camp. Now outside week one once they put the green dot on the last two weeks. It's like, Oh, okay, here we go. This this guy has it whether it's on the edge or as an offball linebacker. But then I mean just the Ravens it just shows how dangerous the maris not only just seven seconds also by the way, very friendly timeout given there. Not sure which ref was looking at Lamar to give them the time out because I saw I looked at the end zone angle and one of the refs was looking at the sideline. So very friendly timeout given there. But that just shows how dangerous they are. And honestly, you just maybe show how dangerous and why I was so high on the Cowboys going in was just their offense can be so explosive now the run their run game got going a little bit more. You can see them adding little tweaks and even the setup before you know the drive after barham stopped on four down got that stop on Derek Henry. There's Dac and CD connecting on a concept called 99. Then they followed up with the same call 989. But then Dac checks it down to Breven span forward who rumbles for 19 yards. Then it's a slant to George Pickens. Then it's a jet sweep to turpent. And it's like that's why I was so high on this offense. They have so many cool stars but also auxiliary role players that are kind of high end at what they do. And the Dac is just seeing the game really well. So to me it was two awesome quarterbacks going at it, two fun offenses going at it, but two flawed defenses also going at it. When you're watching Dallas Gauja Merle here like okay and this is my whole thing of the summer about Baltimore was like to be favoring them coming out of the AFC. There's a lot of assumptions about some things that I don't know whether it's old line, the weapon next to Zay, whether it's where Lamar is with this running. But specifically the pass rush, which is why they did the Max Crosby deal back down a bit and then went ahead and brought in tray hundreds because they were like look we need we need whatever our combination is up here. We need something that closes some of these games out because it was going to be another loss like an off the chart stat of having a double digit lead late and then JJ Watt mentions it's like that's not just a stat I think I'm paraphrasing a bit but he was like that's an identity. And so then it becomes kind of a Lamar thing even though I didn't necessarily felt like if they had lost that game it was like oh you know Lamar you know because we can do that a lot with quarterbacks if you want to kind of tell that kind of story and it felt for me as it has in the Saints game as well is like where's the closer where's that closer defensively and so they find a way to hold in the field goal and this thing's tied up. Sando had the note this morning as you'd expect in his pick six column on the athletic where if you go back since 2000 there's been 110 possessions with a team snapping the ball at their own 35 with one to seven seconds left only Baltimore actually scored points and won the game. So I'm with you on the timeout I couldn't believe they got it down and you know I wonder to some of us that don't always immediately recognize everything's happening out there but it was across the board how you could ever be playing man coverage on that Zay flowers completion there and you know there's a new decordiner that everybody's excited about but I mean is this one of those instances where actually everyone is 100% right that you can't be in man when you know if you just have Zay on a deep crosser and you're you're holding up pass rush wise which I don't know is that challenging necessarily against Dallas especially when you know it's like this is that one rep where you just can't let anyone get loose even as this play is going to have to develop is everyone right about how big of a mistake that is. Yeah I thought they should have got more depth with their coverage and flood it like just you can drop eight like just drop it like you know just get a whole bunch of bodies out there you have to burn off seven seconds so even if you rush three in the Mars bouncing around that's good yeah more time is matriculating down I think you're using the wrong term there but but no and even the end game sequence for on offense from the Cowboys was weird like they had a great drive and then they kind of got they had a botched fault fault start by a schoonemaker the backup tight end and which is just like the Rudolph's like you're in there for 10 snaps and you fall start but then the also Brian shot and hammer I'm not sure if he was covering for DAC you and I've been really liking Brian shot and hammer but he was like oh I was overcoached in told him to throw away and I'm just like that was very weird for me because pickins runs a comeback there and it's there you know and in how they just use the clock there they weren't maximizing the time that is that should have been the last possession no matter what whether field goal or touchdown and they just kind of got weird with the clock again the fall start doesn't help so it's just a yeah it was just a weird sequence for them and I thought again maybe they just galaxy brained all this whether it was shot in Humberton deck to you know sail it whether he's covering for DAC but also yeah the coverage stuff I thought it was just drop eight drop nine just put way bunch of bodies in there and if the Mars wants to run around just fine that's totally fine do a they call it mirror now which is essentially a spy have that loop him around if you want to just heat him up move make them move left just limit his possibilities and safe flowers like you know he was banged up and that's why he's kind of on the pitch count but I again credit to Declan Doyle that the run game got going at some parts but passing game wise it it was stark and I tweeted this way it was like the Wizard of Oz and color watching the Cowboys and Ravens offenses how they designed stuff and then a lot of all other offenses I watched on Sunday which was I can black and white it was just the use of motion use of formations like okay if you look at the Ravens who's their best receiver safe flowers there's three times you caught a ball it was on the same exact concept
And on the same exact concept, they got Zayflowers against a linebacker just because how they use the tight end motion And if you really want to get into it, it's like this is man zone and match coverages man to man is I have number four I literally have the player that wearing number four zone is I have this area spot drop zone I have this area curl flat deep half whatever it is matches. I have number three from the outside I have number one from the outside number two from the outside from number three from the outside The motions that they were doing on this play, which is just called shower cross. It is what it sounds like on the tin It's a shower cross five. Yeah, it's across the cross the field It gets Zayflowers at the number three spot, but it gets them on a linebacker because of how the motion works And it's just a little twist that Doyle does, but it's like all right. We're only out there for 20 pitches They're all fastballs, baby like we're throwing 102 with you and again, it's just that's what the good teams do and I I've up and down on the Cowboys defense because their front plate so well, but the back end is so worrisome and those types of plays It's why it feels worrisome. The secondary is a mess Yeah, we know because of of injuries on top of everything else But you know the guys that they're running out there and I know Kay looks kind of you know It's a rookie. He's kind of all over the place He feels like he's playing a little closer to the line of scrimmage. I don't know. I mean, I'm guessing it just feels like the times I noticed him he's coming up and support more so again just kind of playing free safety back there They're the worst defense right now in the NFL based on EPA per play Which you know is a little shot because I remember we were talking about it was like a yardage thing But it was like yeah, but this pass rush actually wins more than you would think and you'd think from that That interior line like none of the thing I was looking at yesterday was you know Henry's got the touchdowns But I think he only had six carries at one over five yards and you could argue like hey That's part of the body shot approach with Henry But they stuffed him way more than I expected which could maybe be something that indicates something else later in the year with Henry I also thought based on a third and one conversation on the deep shot They took against the Saints so it presents itself twice in that game And I was like wondering what they're going to do and they ran Henry right at the middle and he got stopped for like a few yards behind Line of scrimmage Yeah, and then they had Lamar on third and one were I Guess that was designed, but it was such a scramble after the snap It almost looked like a bit of a broken play where Lamar was looking out to was right So I don't know if that was like as designed, but look he's gonna get it But I'd also point out like I think when he turns the corner it doesn't quite seem Like peak Lamar, which is a little concerning only three weeks into the season You're nodding and are you gonna agree? No, I think it's like 80 it's 85th percentile Lamar You know, it's not as bad as last year where he was barely running. It's but it's definitely not 2019 Lamar or 2017 Lamar 2018 I should say No, I agree with that they and they sprinkled into design runs and that's where that could help I'll leave like the Ravens office line has some injuries center left tackle. It's tailies out. Yeah, yeah The other guys are center went down right yep, and I only their guard is cross train at center and he's pretty good the guy from Penn State They're just trying to find bodies there and again the Ravens office line coach is really good He's gonna like these guys are trained to prepped and everything but like They sprinkled in the Lamar design runs. He doesn't always keep him. He used to keep him a lot more But here this was a good game for him to keep him because that Roshan Gary takes the cheese every single time He's one of those guys. That's like you could target him every single time on design runs or boot legs And you think 14 will get targeted a little bit in the secondary there Markey's a Markey spell. Yeah, Markey's bell. You text me that and I died because I had the same note last night I was like, oh my god. He is just he's lost to he's just going to a rock spot. That's time. It's just yeah That's the thing is like you can get dunked on and just lose an ability, but if you're in the wrong spots, too It's that's that's bad. It's no way to go through life Sun I think I know the injuries touchdown though He was he was I think he was right in the coverage to trail the guy to the Left side of the end zone and then I think it was 21 for Dallas who got kind of caught up in the wash there a little bit So because they put the camera on Dallas like Jesus. You're putting it on him now, and I don't even think it's this fault The the Hibner one the the the tight end touchdown Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, no, you find it. Yeah, I know a big white tight end they all blend together. No, that was that was just Lamar and Hibner just playing football Like there's a beat extra beat. He's pumping pumping pumping side arm and then Hibner on coverage just has a smart play there That was like players making plays as opposed to like oh, that's a botch, you know that side They put the camera on 14 again. I was like oh wait I'm like I don't go back and watch I was like you guys are now putting it on when it isn't his issue there I look it was a really tough game. It was a really tough game whoever would like there's no I don't think anybody I think your top point on this is the right one like these are probably two pretty good teams We are probably nitpicking here a little bit But the Dallas defensive stats are just as bad as they were last year and that that's a problem And they I just don't know where the reinforcements come like the deep the front is starting to feel like how I thought the front What Quinn Williams is like oh, yeah, you're really good like truly a top 10 defender in the league and it's just Yeah, the linebackers bar, but it's whoever's next to bar like all those a flower place. It's D winners It's just like oh god, like just cotton in the middle of no no man's land and there's no one else around them to help There's no reinforce. You know over showing coming back might help a little bit But the back end is still very something the safety's just look poorly coached to me that that's one thing That's really stood out to me and you need that in this defense like big fan Joe defenses. It's all the spine You need detachels smart linebackers that can fill and smart safeties. So if you have rough safeties Could be could be pretty rough I don't know what to do with bonics Oh boy five fourth quarter comebacks last season as I watch it all happen. I was like, I don't know I'm like, oh, yeah, he just won the game again That was second most the NFL last year Caleb Williams had six of them. They've got another one last night and They pulled this one out they pulled this one out with the pick six They pulled this one out with an atrocious flag on the interception that he threw It was Wallace there who they were clearly picking on That was that was Bryant right 13 that Brian right right right who's a little cell that Brian's like one the strongest receivers in the game He Have a lot of divock there. So, you know, it was there was a good sell there I have a thought on that in general that we'll do in quick hitters at the end of this whole thing So look, I mean the Rams are one and two and And I'm like sitting here going Yeah, bonics won the game again Although usually when bonics was having these comebacks It was like some of these deep shots, and you know, he had he had the big crosser there as well and then he runs it in so I'm I'm kind of lost after this game because I just don't see like to me It's over and Denver wins and I'm like I think L.A. is better than him I did too. I mean again, that was another game where I was taking notes and it was just like I had to keep adding a new section because a new drive happened The pick six by the way was not covered - it was a blitz and it was cover zero Which is an all-out blitz and Huffanga is extremely smart like he's a very smart defender Former quarterback in high school like he and he has I mean people have interviewed him about this is a guy that reads the game really well He's a big studier and on that play he's guarding the tight end that the Rams are in empty He's guarding the tight end. He falls off on Kyron Williams and just picks it off He just makes a great reading great play aggressive Because the tight end the safety behind him truly has the running back has Kyron Williams there And he just falls off and that's why it looked like cover two But also why would a safety be be it fun? Says hey, that's a mistake by staffer because he thought it was man, and it was owner's past stop And you're saying it's actually a little different. No, I think it was yeah I think Huffanga just made an incredible play. That's really that's how I read it. It was cover zero All-out blitz and he just fell off and well There was really something happening there was what they were telling their defenders in the back to be like jump every single route That's how you had the mumfield insane. Yeah, yeah Reception where you were like how do the ball even get through all that stuff although on the sideline replay You were like, okay, maybe it wasn't as close as it looked like on the on the actual broadcast camera of it But it looked like those guys were jumping all over the place and because it was like alright We're gonna double move these guys like Adams and it up getting one because of that stuff Riley falls down and that other mumfield huge score. So Maybe that was all part of it on top of it where they were just like hey start jumping a lot of this stuff here Well, so that again, you're right because if you're running cover zero like on that play or cover zero Yeah, cover zero on the out-nup to mumfield Defenders are taught to jump because the quarterback in theory should be hot So hey, he has to throw this in two seconds, which Stafford was on the pick six so jump it And then that's how you catch him on the out-nup is that if you do wadded up and block it It's gash or be gash and then boom. We can just hit you over the top easier said than done But that's again is that's the danger if you're an empty and there's a cover zero on I know that I can The quarterback's gonna be hot because there's no running back to protect it So that right there is again, that's knowing tendencies knowing formation Hefanga's very aware the Rams started getting into more empty and so again That was one of those things where it's just awareness and sometimes defenders can do that defenders are paid to to be smart and Make plays as well. It's not always the quarterback screwing up and so as a quarterback He's hot. So I think there's two Robinson Is running right at Stafford so he's just thrown to a spot gone. Okay. That's my hot route out route right there And then boom, you know, how fun go falls off and gets the pick so it was pretty great But the mumfield out and up was the emotional blitz from Vance Joseph, which I always love it was they got gash twice in a row
Rams are going tempo their guest and then he just sends it okay I'm sending the house all right I'm tired of this and then out and I'll touch down so that was a great little I thought that was gonna be the capper to the game and then more plays happen as as we saw that in the fourth quarter inside we've been together now a few weeks so I feel comfortable but I used to reference I used to call it the Mike Tyson challenge when it was there's a challenge your dad has and I need to go I've been looking for it and I just don't know if I'm going to find it it's like 99 or 2000 I think or something where the refs are like you can't challenge that and he was so mad he's like well then what can I challenge and he they were like are you serious and so I need to find you're nodding as if you know exactly what line it was against the lines yeah there's a pot there's a pot it was because he thought it should have been down at the wall and it was a touchback now you can't challenge that and he's still through it yeah but then he challenged something else and I think he used the challenge because he was making a point and so I used to just I don't know if you'd ever heard me say it but I was like that's like a Mike Tyson challenge there yeah I was emotional challenge yeah all right he's he's taking off he's taking you know he actually he was part of the reason they changed the challenge rules that if you got two and a row right you got a third one he goes hey if you're hot at the table you should get a bonus one he was he wet the charge on that competition committee change and uh no that's funny you bring that up he's still ticked that scores and turnovers are automatically challenged now because he wasted a lot on those as well like because that used to not be automatically challenged that so he he's pretty ticked off that his like challenge like stats are ruined because of that but yeah that's pretty funny he would launch a thing midfield near his promises of some Mike Tyson facts at some point so um we'll we'll do that maybe in a slow or weak or something like that all right so we've got that um we both agree on the flag on Wallace is terrible you know the next thing I just I'm oh he's just he's gonna retire I don't know what it's gonna look like at the end and I'm just gonna go I don't know man I don't I don't know if he was that good and I think last night's game is another example of it because like the pressure stuff that you'll show us right and if you have that I'll give you a little time to find it again but they show that stats it's the start of the 24 season bonix leads the NFL it's lowest sack percentage is 3.9% so clearly it's the old line talent clearly it's patent this is another game by the way just like the Jacksonville game where it's like what are these guys you're doing and then they come out of the half and it looks like they're looking for the one-on-one shot so I don't know if patent gets with Davis web and they start talking about all this all this stuff and look the Davis web conversation I can't fucking do it anymore folks and part of that was a Monday night football game and now it's a Sunday night football game and I know it's all kind of part of it but it's also a lesson all the kids out there when you do something different but you can everyone can point to how it's different and then it doesn't work you get way more criticism than just not being good in the same ways so they're struggling the first half Davis web Davis web Davis web which I also thought it was interesting too when they were like well he looked he was gonna leave if we didn't give him play calling it's like so wait a minute the argument then is we're gonna let him do something we don't think he should be doing and taking away from the person who's like considered a genius at doing this because we were afraid we're gonna lose him so you're gonna do something that you think makes you worse that you don't prefer because he could have gone somewhere else now maybe that's me being a little dramatic about the whole thing but it's been talked about so much because they've been a disaster in in what a full game and then the two first half yep and so that means the game planning is that they I think they just always have too much fat on the game plans and again that's where Sean Peyton is a genius he's one of the best guys of adjusting about trimming everything off and that's what it felt like against the Jags that's what I felt like in this game there's also a theory that it was eye opening by the way I started to rub it like it's the Jags it's like okay so they're they clearly just went no we're now we're doing only doing this yes so we're doing these formations we're doing this play action we're doing this run concept and that that game it was very stark no I I'm right there with you I I've been so curious about I think web still is kind of a meat shield and in some ways of like just in case it does the bottom does fall out because some of the things too there's a theory you know I might prescribe to this is that with nicks is that because he runs around so much in bail's pockets he tires out defenses and in the mile highlight a mile high air like and then that's why the fourth quarter has happened because if they're just like gas they're just like oh my god this guy's breaking contain again and that's that's a double edge short he doesn't take sacks but he also passes up a lot opportunities and and the Broncos fans will launch into how many completions he has of 20 or more air yards but that is not really indicative of how he plays when I usually say push the ball I'm always talking about that 10 to 20 yard area between the numbers which is digs benders you'll hear me talk about all the time with certain quarterbacks that's where he doesn't push the ball and the times he does that's where all the juicy plays happen that's where he against the jacks he had a bottle on an over like that's where the good plays happen but they're so few and far between that that's why can that offense could just feel so still did also they're trying to give Jonah Coleman some more touches now he's on IR so like that's why the run game feels off yeah they're there's just such a weird team I I truly have no idea what to make of them I they caught the Rams though at the right time like that that's one thing I will say no pukin to kua tarant Ferguson gets banged up no miles Garrett of course like and it's kind of just like some if you miss going on even though they had some nice moments couple smaller things to 77 left tackle their jackson for the Rams we're going to give him the Kevin Willis award for trying to box out Benito on a pass rush he gets turned around and actually puts his back to him in arms I loved it any means that guy guy play ball guarantee that kid played high school basketball uh I want to eliminate the check downs that kill your running backs oh the Harvey throw oh I don't know if you have a note on it but it's just when you're in that spot and I understand like maybe it's kind of like that Kirk cousins throw where you just go in with bours on a blame them where you're like this is behind the sticks but yeah you know if you can just make one move like two yards could be seven yards so it's worth it so I'm actually not even knocking Kirk on that stuff but there's there's some of these quarterbacks where it's so predetermined to take the bailout option they're never looking at their teammate and going hey I might kill this guy if he catches it and the instinct is always like you want to touch the ball you want to catch it you want to add to the stats like hey I haven't touched the ball maybe in a and that throw to Harvey I'm like what is the point of even having that route in there um I understand what the point of having the route in there but I guess there's just certain quarterbacks like even on the touchdown on the back of the end zone where the two guys fall down defensively on the crosshair nix is late is can be on that uh granted he got it to him so it now I know it sounds like I'm being really hard on him but that Harvey throw drives me crazy and he's not the only guy that does that we're like all right cool completion like oh I'm completing 68% that shouldn't count towards your completion number that's why success rate man that's why that's why completion rate lies to people and I that's why I always use success rate and you can do success rate just on throws as opposed to just dropbacks as well and his is always gonna be lower because of that he always has nix will have good EPA not I would say relatively good average like success rate though he's always bottom 10 bottom 12 because it's kind of not as efficient like you say those check downs that was I even tweeted this when it gets the jaguars game data second down and he he doesn't let the play breathe sometimes before he gets to the checkdown if you want space on the concept to get to the checkdown you usually those checkdowns are with deep routes and Sean Payton loves having deep concepts big digs big overs if you get to the checkdown right away the defenders aren't sinking they're stolen oh okay all right now I can just close on this checkdown underneath like the classic touchdown to checkdown kind of thinking um but really right there it's like when your eyes come down that quickly it shouldn't work that way unless there's a botchen coverage so I agree with you and also he throws them like a fricking two strikes 100 mile hour fastball down on the way like they're low all weeks to like the little submarine throws too so it's not even just ones that are in the chest like they have to kind of work for those as well so I have no idea what to make it I I actually predicted the Broncos win this game because I did think that the Rams were kind of like in a iffy spot right now but it was kind of one of those like not like this you know not like this this is this is just kind of a weird game for you but they pull it out Broncos getting the turnover margin in their fate well not actually overall turnover margin but actually getting takeaways something they actually struggled with last season Broncos fans are going to hate that but like you know we won right but this is what we do we go just poke holes really you know do chicken fingers one love let's be really positive and we'll start with this I don't care what number anyone can come up with Minnesota has the best defense in the NFL it is horrifying let me run through some numbers for you by the way there's a lot of numbers that tell you they're also the number one so yeah it's not like I'm like I had numbers ready for you anyways you want to just number
in the Vikings defense, let's just go back and forth. All right, number one in opponents, third down conversion rate, 23%. Last season Seattle led the NFL holding opponents to 33% conversions on third downs. They have kept the offenses to the lowest success rate period. It doesn't matter, anyway, you slice it. Third down, early downs, no matter what. They have allowed offenses to a 20, I gotta do his backwards, 29.1% success rate, which has absolutely got awful. You're trying to get the 45% just for reference there. Okay, good segway. Touchdown percentage allowed in the red zone, 11% so far in the season. Jacksonville's number two at 20%. Last year Minnesota led the NFL on opposing touchdown in the red zone percentage at 43%. So that led the league, that 43% number, three weeks in, it's 11%. That's absolutely absurd. They have the best run defense in the entire NFL. We talk about all the funkiness, but they literally, anyway, you split it, but I'll just throw out rushing success rate because that's what I do. They are first, they have held running back to a 25% rushing success rate. That is like worse than what the Raiders were last year, which was one of the worst run games you've ever seen in your entire life. Okay, this one a little different. They're lasting yards per play on offense. 4.3 San Francisco 7.3. By the way, you want to watch why I like the guys that Kurt Warner rave about Brock Purdy, the way he was dealing yesterday. I mean, that is it. I know Arizona's sort of, hey, look, no one loves Arizona more than this podcast. Sneaky, get back into the game, but Purdy was dealing. So that, what we're telling you here is that if you look at the QBR performance, so it's not the overall QBR average, but a week by week, I'm just gonna give you the average, QBR performance 69 32 25.4 from Kyler back as a starter yesterday. So that's a 42 average. I know this isn't like the perfect number here, but the last season, the only quarterbacks of the QBR below that 42 number, per set, Flacco, Tua, Geno, and Cam Ward and their 3-0. That we probably have some Vikings offense thoughts as well. Another Vikings defense stat though. First in sac, sac rate, 12.3% of the pass attempts turn into a sac for opposing offenses. That again, is absurd. Anything above 10%. The league average is 6.9%. So they are close to double the league average so far this year. So coming into this week, 'cause I can't imagine what the number is now. They were leading in pass rush win rate with a 69% win rate coming into this game against Tampa. And I can't wait to see what that number is after this because as I was watching this game, and I sent you a text, I think later last night, it was, I was looking at the, I was like, what is the combined third down rate between these two teams, 'kay? 'Cause Kyler, I have some Kyler's thoughts. I'm gonna hold off, but he couldn't do anything, and I know Jefferson's knocked out of the game. And then you've got Baker back there where it's like, when it was third and 26 twice, and yes, there's probably three or four face masks missed in there. So I get it, Bucks fans, but look, I don't know. I don't know if that was gonna change, of course. - We love the game. - You're right. What do you want to say, exactly? - Because you watched the game. - So when it was, both teams were four of 21 for third down. I just sat there as a neutral guy, only rooting for third down failure. 'Cause I wanted to see how bad that number would get. And you know what I got? I was rewarded. They didn't convert another one from that point on. I don't know when it was four of what of the lower number. I noticed it. I wrote down four or 21 and just timed. It ended up four of 32 combined on third down. And I loved every minute of all the ineptitude because this defense I think is even scarier than it was last year. 'Cause everybody knows like all that stuff that you've talked about, all the stuff that Greg Olson's talked about. I kinda think, I mean, this quarterback play is so bad for them, but I don't know that I can like rule them out of anything. They're your number one seed, maybe a little early for that in the NFC, but go wherever you want 'cause the floor's yours. Oh man, all right, third down stats. All right, boxy, I went two of 17. Oh, for 13 when they need to three yards or more. So both of their conversions were technically in third shorts, which is the one or two yards. So, oh, and 13, and I looked, and usually I have one of my cut offs on these stats. I go back to 2002 when NFL went to 32 teams. That's when my dad's first coach was first I had coached too. So it's near and dear to my heart, but there have been 1,195 instances where offense had 17 or more third down attempts in the game, which seemed really high, but that actually number tracked 1,195. They tied for the fewest conversions when the team has had 17 or more too. They tied for the third worst conversion rate when the team had 17 or more, which again, it was like 11% whatever it is. They had 18.8% success rate. So I mean, which is less than 105 plays. 1,195 plays went for a successful play. So again, that's five yards on first down. And that's another thing too, is we think blitzes. Oh, that's third down. That's passing down. It's as early down as they're kicking ass, and they're doing of like two high looks. And I can again talk about some of the blitz stuff they're doing, but it truly, and I mentioned this before, where it's like the big brother, I'm not hitting you, I'm not hitting you, now I'm hitting you. They truly kept the bucks like whole entire offensive scheme one page behind. So they were doing the kind of what the hot dropper stuff. So Blake Cashman, Eric Wilson. So these guys are over the garden tackle. They are occupying the back, because the bucks kept running six man protection as opposed to changing it up, which is what you should do against those fighting defense. Move the guys, do five man, do seven man, you got to change it up. So otherwise you just get teed off on. Like the bucks did. So they occupied the back, 'cause one linebacker blitzes, the other one, 'cause the slides working to him, drops into the hot spot. They did multiple times. But then, this is what's so cool about the NFL, especially as more games and more dad and more Tennessee breakers happen. Then they go, we're actually gonna blitz both of them and we're gonna drop the edge on the other side. So once the bucks thought they had the protection down and what they had to do, then the Vikings were running a change up off of that. Okay, no, they're both coming actually and then we're gonna drop the edge. And they did that several times. And then they did times where everybody just dropped out. And so how you have to beat that is you have to launch it over the top or work to the outside, just I'm not gonna mock this. I'm not gonna try and read this out. Yeah, yeah, yeah, as a quarterback, Baker's eyes just came down every single time. Like he was just like, it came down. He was throwing a go route against cover two and you don't throw go routes against cover two. You throw a whole shots. It's a big difference. He's launching go routes against cover two 'cause he just, I gotta explain the difference then. Oh, okay, so yeah, cover two side, cloud side. You know, that's what the Vikings will do behind it sometimes when they don't blitz because that is a kind of a safer coverage. But cloud side, you have a corner and the flat area and then you have a safety as a deep half of safety. So because they're working like that, if you have an ISO receiver over there with nothing holding them underneath, the area to attack is that kind of whole shot corner pocket area. If you throw a go, that just been physics, unless you have Randy Moss and the Cowboys on Thanksgiving, you can't throw it over the top because the deep half safety is taught to be deep as the deepest wide is the widest. So he's just gonna be over the top of that go ball. So if you're throwing it late, it's just a, there's no fruit to bear there. Like that is just a bear in play. And that's when Baker, a guy that's 31 years old with all these starts is throwing that, that means he's discombobulated. 'Cause that's just not a wrap you throw. Like ever, it's not a possibility. You know, it's not a read that you were gonna go to. So when you have quarterbacks doing that on top of the pressures, on top of the run back, it's not getting out. And on top of that, the coverages, the Vikings are playing where they pass everything off. It just creates a mess for offenses that are not on their p's and queues. Like the two conversions they had, both on third and two. One was a play action to Kay Dotton, which actually was a nice throw and catch, but they weren't heavy personnel. They weren't in spread. You know, they weren't in the kind of light bodies. And the other one was Baker tried to scramble and he ended up getting tackled before the sticks and he rolled on top of the defender and barely got past the first time worker. So it wasn't even like a successful read or anything. It was just luckily rolled on top of the defender and had to go to replay assist as well. So just absolute dominance that the fastballs, the changeups, the knuckleballs, wherever you want to call it, they're all working for the Vikings. That was just the epitome of great defensive play. - I can't imagine how much fun you wouldn't have if you were Baker yesterday. And so then he hurts his thumb on that last play. - Yeah. - And I'm shocked that Jaylin Daniels is their backup. I'm shocked that they must like him that much with zero experience. And in that spot, we're not even talking about that spot and the impossibilities of that whole thing. But when I go through all the depth charts and you're looking through it and you're like, man, they must love him if this is a great preseason. - I will say. - Yeah, I've been watching Jaylin Daniels for years 'cause I kept thinking he was gonna declare from the draft, declare from the draft and he just stayed at Kansas. So I feel like I've watched him for so long and then now he gets in. So he had a great preseason. Just watching him against the Jats. I know it's preseason, a way different animal than the NFL regular season. But he's got some juice. I mean, he's not the tallest guy, but he's thick. He can move around a little bit and he'll launch him stuff. So I don't know. - Well, he was a lot of fun that one year. It cancels us a couple of years ago when he had turned things around. So, but he kind of plateaued. I kind of felt that it cancels us off. - It just felt like for a team that you know, you can win that division, falling out of bed. - Yeah. - So it's a disaster already. Again, which we're already seeing. Like Caroline is still technically the divisions.
playoff entry because I was looking to play a seating. Again, I don't know why I look at playoff seating. I just think it's it's kind of funny. Um, so, you know, the Baker part of it, I understand now, speaking of quarterback depth charts, uh, Minnesota was the only, I think, I want to know what I'm sure it's happened another time, but all three quarterbacks start to season were top, uh, it would be top 10 picks. Was McCarthy 10? He was, I forget, the 10 or 11. I can't remember now. But if that feels right, I feel like him or if it's 10 or 11, is the right one. When they, when they declared that they were traded up for Drake May and then they couldn't get to them because the Patriots back, we're just going to take him. I'm sorry. I know, I know you guys want to move up, but we're going to just going to take him at pick three. 10th overall pick. All right. So it's time to get. Kyler Carson and JJ all top 10 picks. Yeah. JJ's been traded to the giants. We'll get some thoughts on that here quickly. I know Kyler's coming off the concussion thing, but if it's going to look like that, it's absolutely pointless to play him. I mean, it actually, you want Carson Wentz back. If that's, and let's give him past a little bit, but I'm just telling you, it was horrible. And I know JJ went down, but I'm like, he, he's looking to run. Like he looks like a guy. He looks like a rookie. Yeah. There's times too. I wash it back. Because again, sometimes TV copy lies and why a quarterbacks scrambling, we can get into an arch discussion too if we want. But why a quarterbacks scrambling makes more sense when you see how the routes play out and DBs play out. Now I watch some of those drawn gennings wide open over the middle of the field. Like there's stuff there. It wasn't all perfect. Don't get me wrong, but it's much better than what he finished with. He had six successful dropbacks on 34 dropbacks. They, they Viking is like, I just bashed with the Bucs did, 18.8% success rate. The Vikings finished with 21.7%. And it was mostly the run game actually doing some decent stuff. Like they should do non-zone runs. But yeah, Kyler was just, they had the one drive where he peppered at us in twice or he launched that at us. And again, I even tweeted this, that was like, this is where my office is. Optimism came from with Kyler and KOC. Kyler, there was a nice deep ball. They have a lot of guys at us in and Jefferson. I can get that deep ball in the track it. But the in between stuff, it's got to be more. I mean, they, they have a shot with his defense. Like, I mean, they could be in every single game. So he has to find a way to get the six or seven explosives. I feel like your fans already make them fun of me how many times I use explosive. But it matters. The extra base hits. Like he doesn't have to be like career drew breeze and hyper efficient peppering everything. But you can't be tucking it and leading to not a lot of balls in play. But you can't be throwing it away. You can't be scrambled. Give your dude some chances. And I don't think he's taken enough chances. They play the dolphins this week. So maybe that's going to help him out. And after that, they got the Saints, Colts and Lions and Bill's defense isn't that great. And then Packers, which is okay. So if you can't do it over this next stretch, then it's like, all right, Carson, get back in here and do your pump fakes and get close on again. So I'm right there with you. I look at this. Yeah, he just, I mean, he got absolutely killed in that Packers game. And I thought but then the other one were the versus the flag on him. I didn't think it was even as bad. But let's see what Kyler looks like with another week. Cause I think the deep shots of Jefferson's healthy. Like that's kind of what you talked yourself into, but the tuck and bail and then reset out of the pocket stuff. Like that's that's that's young guy stuff, man. He can't be doing that anymore. It also must speak to how bad they think JJ McCarthy is because they've seen when it's granted Kyler won the job. So he gets hurt week one. They're going to give him the job back. And then they see that and they still trade JJ McCarthy today for a fifth round of the giants. Your thoughts. Yeah, I mean, a long time coming with the again, like I pride myself in kind of coming to my own conclusions and not, you know, source off anything. But the context clues from the people that we're talking to sources were like very telling to me like about, hey, you know, they're not like now he's committed to this. Hey, they didn't really like how that how he celebrated right there. Like after he was told not to and it's like the fact that that was getting out. I was always like, that's curious because I can watch on field stuff and then they can say off the field and go like, hey, actually, no, we know he's growing. He has to learn some things. But thing to me was that the game in this style, I felt there's certain guys that it's like, hey, give this guy some time. Like, hey, the situation's not great. Yada, yada, yada. But then there's time for you to watch a quarterback and you're like, the game is way too fast for him. And McCarthy always felt like the game was way too fast where it was like, I don't feel like you're studying a lot or if you are studying, you're just not seeing it. So many throws come out late and he throws everything 110 miles an hour. And if you ever look again, if you're throwing late and you're there's a nice little saying with quarterbacks, it's like your feet tell you if you're late, the feet tell you if you're late. You always see with McCarthy's, he overstries because he like Tim Linchico, like he's just like, I'm going to I'm going to juice this throw in there. And then that's why he sprays. He's such a wine drive throw that it's going to go all different angles. Accuracy comes from throwing it early and easy. That's why Josh Allen got so much better. He saw the game well and then his feet got so much better and tidier. And so now with his otherworldly arm, he can throw it early into a spot. He doesn't have to throw it 110 miles an hour. McCarthy though, it never got better. It got worse. And so that's why whenever you see him thrown to the left, his kind of mechanics kind of always on furl because he's trying to just gun it in there and he's always late and not seeing the game. So I've I always I'm pretty a silver linings guy, like, you know, I held on to stocks with Justin Fields until I was like, yeah, okay, now you're no, no, never mind. But with McCarthy, it's one of those roles like he, it's just too fast for him. And I think these guys know a day to day, like they are going to see it even more. And it's just like, sort of fact, like they just kind of listen to what they're telling you. And that's kind of how I feel about them. Little quicker on this one. How much do you think it was the personality on top of his limitations? Like do you think there's a version of him if he's chased Daniel where it's like, all right, we love having this guy around. We we're going to see if we can't figure this out considering the certain like you would think they would be going, we're going to need another quarterback here. So I wonder how much of the personality part of it because it was like when he's winning, it was celebrating, it was like, oh, he's doing this. And then when you lose or you're not good, it's like, okay, a lot of this stuff's annoying. And not to be insensitive about it, but it's just the truth, the way these like, whether it's football or at the office, I wonder if that made it, I don't know, I'm asking you. Do you? No, no, no, I agree. No, I think that's a big part of it. There was one little play. And again, context close. They beat the Lions last year in Detroit. And I don't know if you talked about this before, but he's getting ready to, so it's kind of a aggetomally thing. Like, hey, we got the ball game. Just take a knee and get out of here. Like, hey, as soon as the clock gets under 40 seconds, just line up, take a knee. Don't milk it out. I can make the other coach wait. And on that, they're, so they're about to take a knee. They're getting ready. They're in a huddle, clocks under 40 seconds. And McCarthy is kind of celebrating in a huddle. He's like, you know, and this is all on video. I'm going to try and find it. You know, tapping guys on a helmet and everything. And then you see KOC, yeah, and you hear him going, Jason, where the fuck up? And then he's like, oh, oh, and I was like, oh, I've never seen that before. And so like, again, I'm not trying to extrapolate too much. But when you see that, you see the gritty going in the end zone and KOC said, no, I told you not to do it. And McCarthy goes, because he told me not to do it, I did it. Like, that's not quarterbacks. Don't have that. JJ or nine, though, that's right. Again, it's again, nine is German for no. And that's again, that's what I feel like when I watch him. But it's one of those things where the what comes out is very telling if they're just like, ah, kids are kids, you know, okay, but they're you could tell KOC was pissed. And he's in whoever's leaking to the, you know, the sources of the world or the source gatherers of the world. It was a very telling to me how this offseason went. And so yeah, that again, context was a quarterbacks don't have to be boy scouts. Like, they don't have to be what we always think. They don't have to be the raw raw. Hey, everything's great. I'm I'm Tim Teebo hype and everybody up. You don't have to be like that. But if you're not good, you can't be like you said, you can't be freaking annoying like because then it's a slide. That's got my point. Right. It's a sliding scale. Like they'll tolerate you if you're good. Look at a lot of annoying football players out there. It's because they're talented or athletes. I should even say, like, yeah, man, we can. No, no, I was going to go talk about giants and they're quarterback right now. Not dark, but James. It's like, okay, how much good will are you guys giving them here? Because he's a good quote because for a backup quarterback, that's played a lot of football. He is acting like he's over working sometimes too. He's running into camp scataboo on a hand. Did he not know he was playing this week? I mean, he was probably doing a video. Like, although he has the best type of scataboo of any player this season. So that's a positive. Look, even Marvin Harrison, Jr., right? Like during the broadcast, I was kind of waiting for it. And great. It's a new head coach of what is he going to say. Yeah. But like some of the excuse making for him, I was just entertained by it was like, well, Wilson's really good. So you have to understand on some of these routes. You're like, are you? Did you just seriously go like because the other guy's good and the primary. So take it easy on Marvin Harrison, Jr. My favorite player from Marvin Harrison, Jr. is when they scored a late touchdown. He celebrated. He put his hands up. And I was like, all right. Actually, there's something to build this game with his best blocking game. I want to wash it back. So I was like, okay, again, blocking is all efforts. Like defense and basketball. So the fact that he was blocking, I was like, okay, all right, we'll take that for the number four overall pick that was supposed to be hyped as a dude. Yeah. He by the way, like Randy Moss famously was like, I do not
run all of these routes, the same, and you win. - Okay, no problem. - That's fine. - Like fighting scale. - Yeah, we got mad about it. And then it was kind of like everybody with them was like, don't get mad because it doesn't matter. It's fine, it's not matter. Harrison Jr. is not afraid when he is not the play side option. He is not afraid to come out of his route being like, I'm not doing this, like Pickens will do it a lot. - It's actually you could probably if Edith Filth, what's that? - Yeah, Pickens is a great call. He's the king of that too. Mari Cooper was the king of that. - He, Mari Cooper. Mari Cooper is too smart for his own good. Like he knew the concept and he goes, I'm number three here. And it's like, no, no, but you still got to run. You might still get the call you never knew. - The call you never knew. - The balls you taking attention away from all of this stuff. - Yes. - And I was watching Harrison Jr. like sometimes he'll sell that he's going into the route and then at the top of it, he's like, whatever. This is fucking pointless. And I caught Pickens a couple of times yesterday. And then the thing is, it's like you could basically, if you said, hey, who are the receivers that you think decide when they're not in the play, that they're just not going to give this route anything. And I bet you most NFL fans would be like, I probably can figure out who like the top five are. You just sit around. Like that guy's probably. - That guy's usually the, yeah. So usually the ball winning X that has just dunked on guys their whole career, they're like, I don't, like, 'cause their route tree's never been some expansive thing. So they're like, I just run vertically. Like, all right, throw the ball. - You need to sell this option dig a little bit more. You're like, what's a little bit like that? - I'm not doing any of this. - That's why I think I, for love of the game routes. It's like, it's not like, if people think it's a joke, it's like, no, seriously, for the love of the game, you got to run when you got to go, 'cause it helps everybody else out. - Like, I'm not fucking Rudy. I'm talking about him, six five with a four-star recruit dude. Got 24 touchdowns, are you kidding me? I love the game then. - They changed the rules in high school because of me, man. - Don't worry about, don't worry where I am from 12 yards deep on this one. What do you want to do? Do you want to do a little cults? Do you want to do a little Houston cults? Do you want to talk about? - I mean, I feel like you have to rave about what Jacksonville is, but that story is overwhelming of like, what's going on with the AFC rep out of the Super Bowl. So, whatever you want to do here, 'cause we're still small. - We do Texan's cults because it's filled out, by the way. - I am too. - Fishing, yeah. - I know the Texans were all in three last year, and they turned it around. They won 12, so they're all in three. Yeah, I think they went 12 and 2 the rest of the way. I watched the whole game there yesterday. I want you to dig into all of it, but I know last week I was like, "Hey, I'm not worried." I think they could get them. They'll be in this spot and then, you know, they lose in the field, will. - It kind of, again, and I kind of overstate this word on my pod, but microcosm plays, you know, or canaries in the coal mine, whatever you want to say. Like, the things that worry about the Texans is they're not learning their lessons. And that's where it's worrisome. Teams that adjust, and this again, once we get to week four, there's always a boost after week four. Week three is funny. I always call it rubber band week, because it's just like, it feels like, you know, hey, the team, oh, bulls are going to blow out the chargers. You know, all this, and it's like whoop, it snaps back, 'cause that's how the NFL is, because tape gets out there and stuff happens. But Domingo Rines, they go for it on fourth and one. I've already brought up the step. Many of times tweeted, talked about many pods, is that they are, their own line is not built to run zone place. And then they go on fourth and one. And I know Domingo Rines not call plays on offense, but this is kind of, there's a trickle down effect here. They call another fourth and one, after their last zone play got blown up last week against Dexter Lawrence. They do it again, and it gets blown up again. Dave and Montgomery could have maybe cut it back, but I kind of saw what he was seeing. So that gets stuffed again. It's kind of like, all right, here we go again. Then Domingo Rines, who's now going for it on fourth down, that's always been kind of his thing. He's not really aggressive on those fourth down decisions. Turtles back up. They had the fourth and fourth and plus six, and he kicks the field goal. And that was not even like a ner thing like, "Hey, it's like 1.2%, that's five and a half percent." That's significant, as far as how much he should have gone for it. That's significant in these kind of go for it scales. So again, they're not helping yourself out. Your defense is playing well enough. Jalen Travis, the tackle for the Colts, allowed 10 pressures. Like they could not block them. Daniel Jones was starting to make mistakes. Once, Shane Stuykin could still dial him up. Like that's still a thing. Like he can still dial him up. It's just sometimes the execution isn't always there. But that's the thing is your defense is still pin their ears back and going. And then if you don't get it, you have them backed up. And a game where obviously the game for points are paramount. Like you are a touchdowns worth, before the extra points, worth twice as much as a field goal. When should you take that every single time? You know, not even just the kid, it's fourth and fourth, the plus six. You could still get a first down and not get the touchdown. So there's actually possibilities of not scoring and still being okay because you get a first down there. But that is those two things, those two fourth downs. Offensively, not adjusting, not understanding what your personnel are. And then defensively or really head coach wise, coaching decision wise, not kind of knowing what you are knowing what the game for is. That is so worrisome to me. There, you know, more to get into as well. And I think it's most disappointing because I watch it. And like Strauss doing good things. Like they're actually like that. He is not the issue on the offense. And it's just kind of one of these things where it's like, give yourself some more chances at all this. And they don't. And I think in a game that's week three is not a must win. But oh, and three, you know, you're putting yourself behind the eight ball, especially in a division as the Jags in it who are cooking people right now. So very, very, very worrisome. And I can even talk about, sorry, I brought this up, but I was talking about that little motion with the Ravens and changing everything and changing the number count and everything. This is where the thoughtfulness goes in between the offenses like the Ravens, the Jaguars, the Bears, the Cowboys, the Rams, the 49ers, the real dudes is the Texans are doing a little speed motion where they out motion. They do it on third down. But all they're doing is creating a normal trips formation. With the tight end, you know, I mentioned Zave Flower at the number three spot, that's usually the tight end. So it's just Dalton Schultz there and two receivers on the outside. So you're doing all this motion splash in the water to then just create the most basic formation that the defense just goes, OK, so it's one of these things, they don't, I, they just do stuff to do stuff. And again, that's worrisome to me because they just don't have that offensive talent to overcome that. And I guess they aggressiveness to overcome that overall. Certainly without Nico for another game here is part of it. But you looked at this Colts defense off of that chiefs game and you go, OK, like we're going to get right here. They still can't run the football. They couldn't run it last year. They're 29th and yards per carer. They're 25th this year. It was, again, I'm going to say maybe one last time, but they transfer portal foeline preview. Hey, it's new. So it has to be better. It is not better. He's now been sacked 10 times this season, three more yesterday against the Colts team that you're not really. Again, you're not, you're not supposed to score 17 against them. And I think Demiko's a great coach. The good news is like the past rush win rate stuff that I was looking to come in into the week. Houston was bad because I do think the two teams they played were like, whatever we're doing, we're not letting these freaks kill us. And then Will Anderson ended up in a headlock on one of those plays. So I think like the past rush part of it woke up a little. So when Houston's lining up to win this thing, I'm kind of like, all right, this kind of makes sense here. Although it could have gone either way with it. But Demiko terrible clock management, where they didn't know what they wanted to do. And considering what Baltimore did on their last possession, they're likely in position to kick a game-winning field goal. If they had called the timeout, they burned. I had it when I was doing it live. And then I went back and watched, but it was like 35 seconds. It was an absurd number because they were kind of like, and they still had. So if you go through it, like there's no, a lot of times of the timeouts, I think people lose their minds because it's so easy to point to like, hey, here's a mistake. Well, I don't have to worry about coverage and routes and all this kind of stuff. Like you screwed up. So now I'm going to get so mad. That was one of those. And sometimes I'm like, well, he's kind of in between going to my giving the colds more. That was a no-brainer got to call the timeout because then they had a call. And they still ended up having the one when they got the ball back. So it still would have played out as the same numbers because they called the timeout later anyway. So the point is, is like, Stroud throws one out of bounds. The whole thing's a fucking mess, man. And another thing I noticed too, is Stroud is he, and I don't know if that's because of the pressure rate to start this season, although it's actually technically lower than it was other years. If you want to look at some of the advanced stuff, there's some advanced numbers for him that are better, than the completion stuff is now career lows. I thought he was going to have this bounce back season, despite everything we're dressing now. Yards per temp now's career low too, as well with him. But he will drop whatever it is. Like, hey, how many step drop on this play? Then he drifts. He's always, he drifts back, mad and drop. Yeah. Great call on the mad and drop. Because people realize they hold the stick back. Well, the video game it works all the time. On Sunday, you're kind of like the old line going like, where is he back there? So I can't believe they're all in three. I know they were all in three last season. I still think the defense is good enough for them to kind of turn around a little bit. But it doesn't exactly feel like you're super bowl participant from the AFC right now. No. And what's telling too, and I appreciate Michael's commentary, you know, JJ Watt. And this is related on that failed fourth and won by Derek Henry. He says, hey, I know it failed. But the process is good there to stay aggressive. And it's like, all right, JJ Watt, former defensive player, who usually the guys going like, why are we doing it? It didn't work, you know, he's understanding. No, I love that. Well, JJ. Yeah, JJ is smart dude. And he loves to learn. He loves to learn. What you say? So those Madison guys, right? I don't know. You know, we're transfers, too. You sent, you know, he was a machine guy. I came right after him. He was the first guy when I transferred [BLANK_AUDIO]
to add me on Facebook, too. - Yeah, I mean, it was two guys I played with him from Minnesota, but then he added me. And I was like, I thought it was a stage name. I was like, "JJ what?" Really? Like, what kind of name is that? I told him that, I interviewed him. But, so I will say one little, again, silver lining son, all this. - The name of a game record is what it is. - It is. - JJ, how many puns you can make off of that? It's so easy. Is, I have a little stat. It's my version of OPS for football. It's quick and dirty. I had success rate and explosive player rate. And it's just easier for me to explain sometimes an EPA and all that. Kind of comes out the same. Sometimes as EPA, they're very near each other. The Texas on offense are 12 in suplex rate. They're above the bangles. They're above teams like, I mean, the carinals who are frisky, easily a bunch of teams. Way above the Eagles, they've employed yet. But just, they're 12. And it's just, their success rate's been pretty good. And that's what I think is so frustrating. Is that they just can't put it away. They can't finish. Not just finish games, finish drives, finish execution. And there's something just missing there. Where they just thought that. - We liked Stroud last week. - We liked him. - I did. - So I thought this was gonna be good. - I thought this was gonna be the one. Speaking of announcers, I want everyone to understand how great Tom Brady is at this. And I know what you're saying. Hey, of course you're saying that. Look, did you think Tom was gonna be bad at something? Because he's not bad at this. And I know the anticipation everything was crazy. He is already the best at being critical in a way where it's not nasty. Now, some guys will just not be critical. Or they give you the cliche, you're like, "Oh yeah, that's not gonna happen." I actually would prefer somebody being like, that's not gonna work. What the fuck are you doing? I don't know if we'll ever get there in broadcast. Certainly on network, okay? But Brady's disdain for what the chargers are in offense was so entertaining yesterday. And here's a little Herbert thing to understand. There's a second and eight. He's got a free Russia coming at him. He's gonna turn his hips throat over the Russia who is unaccounted for. That's Herbert's guy that he has to beat either with his legs or his throws. You could argue, "Hey, maybe you don't wanna do "that all season with this guy, okay?" Because it's something they clearly like to do. He completes it and that play, Brady is an awe. He has another one that's sort of inverted. It might have been a third down. It was later in the game. We're Brady, like, Burkhart who's awesome too. He's like, "Oh, is that a tough throw?" Brady's like, "Are you kidding me? "To turn your hips and then the free Russia." That's what I appreciate. And then to get the ball off, he's like, "Are you insane? "Do you know how hard that is?" And that's why so many of us that love this sport. And you know, I got like Jimmy Johnson a couple of years ago. I think he was taking, say, take Herbert over any of these guys, okay? Those are the plays, kind of like Cutler's arm. I'm like, "Why does everybody keep talking "about this guy all the time, all right?" And I'm telling you right now, I like Herbert probably more than I like Cutler after a bunch of years in. Although I started to feel so bad for Cutler, I was like, "Maybe this is why he's a dick." Because that doesn't look like it's like Tampa Bay against the Vikings every week with this old line for the Bears. - Oh. - All right. That's close to home. I was part of my family right there. A nine-sack game against the Giants on Monday night. Oh, that was a lot of fun. - I was at the airport watching that game and that's what changed everything for me. I can't believe you just referenced that Giants game. I remember seeing at the airport waiting to get my connection back to Hartford and I was watching that game going, you know what? I'm actually, I feel bad for Cutler. I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna, I get it now. I get it now. All right. - So, Sacks are a quarterback stat. - In some cases they are not. That's one of those where it's like, yeah, sometimes an old line does matter for somebody to sacks that. But the beauty of this is Brady's pointing that out. This is why people fall in love with him because of those two throws and there's many other throws throughout the course of the season, the game career that you point to. And then he's like, yeah, but this is not sustainable. And then he goes meet ball sandwich. He was so disgusted with Herbert on that pick to the safety where it's like, how are you not figuring out pre-snap? How are you not looking? You've been playing this game long enough and that's what I thought was just brilliant about Brady on that broadcast. Is he let every one of this know he was disgusted with what they were doing on offense, but it never felt nasty, but it still felt like a more critical way that was entertaining, which I think some guys never get to in that spot. - I'm with you. From where he was your one to, you know, it most improved player last year to now all pro or you know, all announcer team, that's, I agree. I have no, I know he's works at it. I know people that work with him on some stuff and how much he wants to study and get better. And you can feel it, it's palpable, but it's not unnatural. Like you say, the confidence to be negative, but not be negative to be negative for negative sake. I think it's a fine line. I actually think Troy Ekman's got a lot better at that. I actually appreciate him. Sometimes when he's like disgusted and stuff like. - We're lucky, like every national broadcast, we are incredibly lucky how great all of these teams are. So thoughtful. - And again, they're getting better info. They're better at using the tangible info as well, but I agree with you that highlighting the highs and highlighting what the differences between these guys that are, that touch the upper echelon of playing these positions. Not just a quarterback, but other positions too. That's what I appreciate because it's like can't, like that's why all 22 is so great to watch. Sometimes people are like, man, when you watch it from this angle, those are tough throws. It's like, 'cause they are tough throws. They are incredibly hard. You watch an NBA game and you're like, oh yeah, it's just a normal basket. But then you see, oh, they shot it over a 6/11 guy with seven foot five wingspan. And it's like, yeah, that's not just a normal jumper. Like it's like, you have to highlight what these highs are, but I agree with you. That's what some of these negative plays should be pointed out. Even this is getting to what the chargers are doing wrong. Even their best plays are bad. The key Mitchell touchdown early on, the guys on, the guys unblocked by design, but it's the wrong guy was unblocked. So key Mitchell had to make a defense tackle miss in the backfield. And it was like, yeah, that's like great play by key Mitchell, but that should be highlighted or low-lighted. And that's it, again, canarian, coal mine, microcosm, whatever you want to see with the chargers. The Herbert Interception of CJ Grunner Johnson was one of those maddening plays. And that's where I feel like it's a trickle down of all the bad things happening to Herbert, and not just to Herbert, to chargers I'm saying, but then Herbert's just making it worse compounding issues, which we can talk about with the Patriots game too. But that was just bad. They picked the CJ Grunner Johnson, 'cause the deep safety, it's a cover three safety. They are literally called the deep safety, it's called a post safety, because they're taking away the post route. And if anyone doesn't know it, it's called a post route 'cause of the goal post. That's where the safety is. Why it's a post safety is you do not throw a post route. And there's nothing, I watched it, I was like, oh man, I must've been disguised. And then I watched it on all 22 and I'm like, it was just plain cover three, and he's just throwing it to MVS. It's not like, again, it's not Randy Moss going out, hey, give him a shot. So a trickle down of everything, the negativity. So I agree that it's just, it's refreshing when they're negative for the right reasons. And, you know, I wish they highlighted the line play a little bit more from being honest, but quarterback play, it's like if we're gonna focus it, let's highlight the highs and low light the lows, because I think him and Aikman, I think are doing a great job of it. - Yeah, I really appreciated the broadcast, and if you're not gonna win that one, charges in your plus four of the turnover, then, you know, I like it. - Hey, by the way, are all this later getting worked? Or am I just seeing that on the replays? - They are. All it looks so much worse. It's not just injury stuff. He's laid off the ball. It's rough. And he's like looking like one of the best young tackles in the game. That everybody's worse. Like nobody's playing, like even guys, that's a pretty interesting way. - There's, there, some, I want to say KOC uses this term, come to a con, but it's like load bearing players. It's the sense that, hey, if everybody else has heard, usually if you have a top-end quarterback, he can be that a star tackle. We can change the run game. Not have to give him chip help, but the load bearing players for the chargers are worse. Herbert, Joel, Slater, Durwin, James. And I would say credit the chargers for creating those turnovers and having the best game on defense. But Durwin, James is like botching stuff. He's taking himself out of plays in the run game. Again, like, and not again, but the bills. - What about Matt? - Well, Matt looks like he's ready. - Matt's playing well. - Yeah, he's playing well. - I'm trying to think of anybody. Like, you could argue lad, considering what he's going through here. - Lad. - To the trade he made another pretty good. - You know, it's like, hey, we didn't use West and Edelman on these go routes. You know, we had, this was, this was me just picking apart. And then past rushers just absolutely bored out of their minds after three hours. And he made another amazing point on lad. He goes, you know, think about small receivers. They get a lot smaller. I love that point. - The further down the field that they are. And then you're like, you know what? - It was not like he was like, Brady's wrong. But you're like, what a great point. - Physically. - Because now this catcheradious stuff. Like, where's the going, buddy? - Yeah. - And they've just laughed. - Because, you know, they've got Lad running out and Quentin had a bad drop in the game too. - Yeah, it was just. - Well, that's a way to watch in the, we talk about giants, but the Titans game. It's like, Wendell Robinson. Like, there's a couple of throwers who came work through to him and the mic. And if that guy, Wendell Robinson has like the shortest arms ever. Like, period. And like, one of the shortest on record. - One of the right things now. - There's a corner route that came work throws. And it's a good ball, but it looks worse than it is because Wendell can't reach for it. And I was like, if he's six foot with normal arms, 30 inch arms, 31 inch arms, that's just a normal catch. But because he has the throwdown feel to the tiniest target ever, which was their big free agent signing by the way on offense, 'cause Brian Davels gotta get his guys. That's like one of those words like that's that's the
issue, everything becomes harder. And if you're building the whole plane out of the short guy, the small guy, it's really hard to live that way. Brady had Grock too. And that's good living. Like just chuck it up to that guy. And that's why Nick says Pat Bryant is his fourth option. If Mims is healthy, maybe coming in and now like, look, he's still probably, I don't know if he ends up being the two or Sutton, but it gets a really good example of like, hey, if you're throwing these tough throws on these sideline routes, maybe you shouldn't have your under six foot slot guy doing it, right? And I said, Broncos are getting the red zone because Nick says there's a can of an arm. So he can hit it in tight spaces. And they have giants. And Sean Payton says that. He even says, I always go after the big guys. I want to say it's because he watched those old 49er teams or Denver teams. I'm sorry. It's one of those two. And he's watched his old Shane Han teams to had a McCaffrey, the original McCaffrey had McCaffrey and had all these other guys that were just monsters out there. And that's that's where size comes into play. It's tight spaces. So you need a guy that can go get a rebound. And that's sometimes I think teams get away from that. By the way, lad, 5/11, 5/8. We're going to give him the six feet on the comeback. I think it's been my comparison for him whenever your man or Sanders was in a ball winner. There's something for everyone when it comes to Reese's Reese's is tradition. Reese's is a standard. Reese's is delivering on expectations. Think of it this way. If there's a movie and you're like, who's in it? Not chocolate and peanut butter. Everybody would see that movie. Oh, do capriots in it? I'm going to give it a chance. What's this story about? I don't even have to worry about that with Reese's. I know what the story's going to be about. It's going to be fulfillment on a promise that the best Katie in the game is making to all of us. If you want to do a sports analogy, you could talk about relationships. I think Lamar Jackson's eight flowers is still too new. Not really. It doesn't have the runway that this peanut butter cup that we're talking about has. So I'd have to go back to one of the other ones that they always want me to use. But I'm trying to do a newer one. So I think the capriot expectations, you know exactly what you're going to get. And you're probably going to enjoy it every single time. Reese is the official candy partner of Arsenal sports. Go get Reese's wherever you shop. Okay. I want to be positive about Jacksonville. Top four defense in an online that's only given up four sacks. I think we knew the defense was going to be terrific. It feels like there's more weapons. Sure Trevor's got a couple of throws in there. But sometimes I'm just like Jesus. Like we're going to have a clean sheet because we don't want that. Not on this podcast. We want eight ten or seven interceptions a year. Seriously. Like unless it's like the peak Roger Manning Brady, where it's just hey, I'm not going to make an mistake for 16 straight games. I don't want to see 21 touchdowns and two picks from some of these other guys. I want to see like eight or ten of them. So while we're not going to get in Trevor, even though there's probably one or two in there, you're like, what's going on? But he's only been sack four times. I think that's super important. So there's a lot of positive there. But to stay kind of on the theme of this, New England looks like a mess. I thought they'd be worse record wise. I didn't think it'd be this much worse. And I don't know. I mean, can this be fixed? It has to be fixed at some point, right? Yeah. I am. And as a guy that has always been high on bay, it's always a little bit better. Like the Steelers game wasn't as bad on rewatch. He's still high in success rate because he's doing a lot of good things with his legs as well. But again, that's why you watch, watch it back. There's reasons why he has to scramble and make those plays. Nothing's easy in this offense. And all their good plays are a broken place because it's made creating. That means the structure of the offense is not going as design. And the thing about Josh McDaniels, and it's almost kind of like the downside of having success really in winning a system coach of the year and Mike variable winning that all the stuff and going to the Super Bowl everything is they bringing a room back. It's a very, very old school offense NFL offense. There's not a lot of fresh ideas in its scheme wise. So it works when you have dudes winning. But they don't have dudes. Matt Collins, who was a cast away special teamer that the bills are like, yeah, yeah, we got to upgrade from this. They're like, yeah, we're going to we're going to dial up plays with you one on one against Travis Hunter. You know, that, that is tough pop dog loses their downfield option, talk about small receivers, Romeo dobs who they brought in. So I'm not even bringing up AJ Brown, yet Romeo dobs who they brought in. They're not even using him how he was used with the Packers. He was a weapon on out breaking routes with the Packers. Him and Jordan love had incredible chemistry for whatever reason. Certain guys are better at certain routes. He's better at breaking routes. You don't want him go vertical. You want him breaking it eight to 12 yards on out routes and in breakers. This year or last year, 16% of his routes were out routes that defied by next gen stats. This year, it's 6% 22.5% out breaking routes in 2025 sets of corners flats. All that's 11% this year. 44% of his routes are vertical. Last year's 30% and it's not like, oh, he's he lost it. That's just Jordan love in the offense. He has three targets on outbreakers this year. They gone for three catches and a hundred yards. And why I'm bringing that up. And again, microcosm. Do you know your personnel that that sometimes I watch them like, do you know what your guys are like, what how these guys have to work? They don't do anything to protection wise to help out anybody. They're leaky all over. That Jack's past rush wasn't getting home against the Broncos. I think they had six total pressures last week. This week they looked like a freaking 85 bears. And on top of it, May is feeling it. So he's compounding issues. He's making mistakes. Young guy mistakes. He still is the youngest starting quarterback in the NFL. I want to remind everyone that. But he has the interception in the end zone and actually felt like Trevor when he was younger, when he was just compounding issues and throwing picks in the end zone, some of the stupidest interceptions you'll ever see. But now you see him playing it again. This was the Wizard of Oz thing watching the Jags running staple concepts, but doing a little twist window window dressings. If you watch the Josh Cameron touchdown, watch the motion on it. Love Josh Cameron, by the way, but watch the window dressing on it. Then you watch the the Patriots on that pick in the end zone. It's like chism is in there. Mac Hollins is in there. And like, that's not a lot of juice. Remundri Stevenson's running the flat on the underpick. Yeah, on the hundred pick. Yes. Right. I know which pick. But now the remundish Stevenson flat route, that's designed to be a foot race. Why isn't Henderson that back running the foot race? The guy they can run a four or four. I like Stevenson, but he's like a steady Eddie back. And then the design routes going to chism, who falls, who trips, may makes it worse trying to make a play happen. And he should just throw it away. It was a dumb play on top of it. Mac Hollins, who's in there, the block and be a smart player. He doesn't block and pin the edge. So it's just Josh Heinz out and right in the back. So what I'm getting at is everyone's fucking up. And this is they brought a lot of guys back. And they don't do anything with their scheme that I'm like, Oh, yeah, okay, they're going to they'll catch on like last year with the Jags, they're making mistakes. But I was like, they're doing some cool stuff. Just wait. No, it's like they're running the same old stuff that McDaniel has been running for 20 years. And there's no one on that staff. I'm like, Oh, this is a young guy that's doing cool things. Doug Marones, like, I mean, they're not doing this stuff with scheme. And I have one last stat. Patriots receivers haven't made a single guy miss this entire year. They haven't broken a tackle. They haven't juke the guy. And that's there's a stat called Miss Tackles Force. They have zero. They have zero Miss Tackles Force. Chris Godwin off injury has five. Jamar chase had four alone yesterday. Emmett Johnson the backup running back for the chiefs had six. They have zero. So no juice, bad scheme. And now May is just kind of feeling the heat and just kind of making bad problems worse. I don't have a lot to add to that because I was reading Barnwell this morning. And it was like, Hey, just a reminder. But last year's, you know, tight window throws, Drake May was at 48%, which is an absurd number. This year, it's two of nine with three picks. If you look at the expected catch rate of three of the receivers from last season, whether it's digs, booty, Mac Collins, all three of them were 10% or higher over expected rate. So it feels a bit like a pitcher who has this great season. They're like, yeah, but did you see the like the defensive adjustment number behind him where everybody was making these absurd plays defensively like this might be an outlier for his stat line. So you could, you could get into some of that stuff and clearly AJ being down. They're like, Hey, some of it actually look pretty good against Seattle with AJ and some of the stuff that they were doing there that he goes out. And now it's like, OK, but I think that was the beauty of last season is you went. OK, digs is on a pitch count. And he's their primary guy. And yet he's still clean. I mean, eight interceptions last season. He's got six and the fumble. And he's been fumbling, you know, in general. So small hands. Yep. Small hands. Look all pepper light here. Oh, God, you're just really some wounds, man. I know. I don't even do that. Tell your dad. So I was also reading like in Barnwell's piece about what you know, they're a heavy design run on first down. And I know how all of you guys for years now have been in love with passing first down as a passing down. It's a passing down. It's a passing down. And then you're like, OK, they also don't do any play action. So it's like, is there a way to lean in to more design runs? And then it's kind of like, Hey, stop fucking it up. It's kind of my thing would be you, you brought up the personnel stuff. But like, may just going to do a better job. I thought the hunter interception at the time was a fabulous play by Hunter. But hunters, I think it's both, I think he's turned around and you've got to eat it. And the problem is after the Seattle game, you're like, so what are you going to do? You're going to start being like dangerous red zone guy. Like that's the worst thing you can be as a quarterback in this league. I don't imagine this is who he's going to be all of a sudden because we do have last year to look at. And then the Jones interception, I mean, he could
receivers covered on that one. So I don't know if that's frustration or what that one was because that's not, oh, I didn't see the safety or the linebacker did something or, oh, I got unlucky. It was like, you just kind of threw it. That guy looked like he was totally covered. So ugly count for the Super Bowl participants from last year. Yep. And I actually was liking some of the stuff they did on defense, but it was just that and then they kind of that's what's that's what stinks. And then the Jags were just like, okay, we got better stuff on offense, which again, I mean, the Jags pounded on them, like 58% rushing success rate. They just stomped it on them and then Trevor made some big plays and read out the game while on third down. He was great on the pressure, but yeah, blah. They're a bummer to watch. Who knew England? Yeah, they're a bummer. Yeah, it's a bummer. Well, I mean, good because I want to just, I mean, Jacksonville stomps them and needs to be, needs to be emphasized. All right. You want to go first? Sure. Yeah, I'll start with Brock Bowers. Top five weapon in the NFL went healthy. And I feel really good about saying that holy crap. It's always a reminder of when he's out there because he gets banged up so much, but when he's out there, it's like, oh my god, like a true, I call him a Tino tied in a name only. And, but it's like, he's actually a guy that does it. Like they're, they're just lining, they're getting to 22% now. They have a full back, two tight ends out there, but they'll line him up just as a receiver. So defenses are just like, okay, I think we have to play heavy here. And there is just running real deal downfield routes, you know, running out wide. And, you know, there's some noise with some of these alignment numbers, but with Bowers, it's just, it's incredible with how they're all they're lining them up. So like he, they had him as a Z, which is, you know, just outside receiver. That's a flanker. If you want to get into old school, but he had five. Flanker. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So an X is a smel. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He's a Z. That's so that, if you want to old school, that's an X is a split end, you know, tight end is a Y. And then a flanker is a Z. And then we just get into XYZ much, I think much easier. But, uh, no, snaps out wide, get 18 snaps out wide, lined up as an outside receiver, eight targets, six receptions, 81 yards. This is a tight end doing this. That's like Tony Gonzalez stuff. Uh, third down, they just lined up as a ISO receiver. Like it is an X, a split end. Um, and there's cool in, cool in McKinstreet. And he just beat them one on one, like just one on one running a real deal route. Nothing fluke on it, just, hey, ISO ball gotcha, uh, and Kirk is just firing it to him, which is really fun. Uh, then there's a bunch of stuff in the slot. They're running choice routes to him. It's, it's really cool to see a tight end. Be the, the main focal point of the offense, but like, deservedly so. And so yeah, actually matches Kirk's throw palette right now. It's kind of perfectly too. Yeah. Yeah. Timing stuff to the outside. It just let him go. Let him cook. It's great. No, it's, I really enjoyed watching the Raiders, S.V.A. And now, you know, there's some other cool stuff. They have masses, this DB that's had a really nice rookie year. You know, Max Crosby's, Matt Crosby, but you know, they're pretty fun to watch on offense right now. All right. So let's stay with the Raiders. Is there any possibility Mendoza sits out the entire year? I still put it at the buy week. I think it's after, I think it's week 14. So I, I don't know, man. Cousins also looked like Jeff Hardy out there. He was getting ragged all like it, like his crumb, people need to, I just needed to make this clear. If you're 38 and you're pro athlete, you're not decrepit. Just because you haven't done anything with your body since college, and it's been 17 years in an activity, then we treat these guys like when LeBron dunks at 40, people lose their fucking minds. You're like, he's 6A and a pro athlete. Like he's, he's 40. He's not 80 and Kirk would who I, yeah, right. Like I realized Kirk's taken on the chin here among other body parts for a few years, but him, him doing anything out there. Like people run away. Man, you hit late 30s, early 40s as an athlete and people just like lose their minds, although there's not that many early 40s to even choose from unless it's been a dairy. Steve Nash was like, keep playing, buddy. Um, he's sure. That's another thing. I want to help. I'm with, I think Mendoza plays, but it would be really interesting if they were to 6 and 0 and then you start going because then everybody would be rounding everything up like Bryce Young last year. It's like, well, you know, they made the playoffs and Bryce has taken this step and all this different stuff. I think you're like, three and overs, three and no. There we go. Maybe not. Maybe not on this one. Then they got the Patriots. So it might be a get right game for the Raiders, which is so backwards of what I thought how the season was going to go in for those two teams. I looked at the spread for Minnesota Miami because I was looking at Minnesota's thing going, hey, are they going to be 6 and 0? Because I think with their defense, again, they can do anything. But knowing the NFL, it's like, Miami's probably going to win that one outright. And then I was like, I wonder what the line is. Did you already see it? No. Do you want to guess? Is it a Minnesota or Miami? It's in Minnesota. Oh, mine is, is it minus 12? Yeah. Good instincts. Minus 10 might be minus 11. Yeah, it's a huge number because I was like, if that's a weird number, if that's a line that's way too small, then you're just going to have to take Miami. And even with this quarterback play, what this defense is doing, and Malik's been, look, my expectations were low. I think he's been okay. Yeah. No minus other than Douglas. And now H&S out with the ACL. So that's factored in. Obviously in that spread, but I was like, man, that number is just, hey, you got Malik Washington. You got a new slash. Have you seen this guy? Number six, he's been there for a few years now, but he's just doing running back and receiver for them. So we got a new slash, which I always appreciate. And then with the guy that can legit handle both. So yeah, maybe you can ask for double the contract like Levy on bill. Jimmy Graham. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. I'll have you on bill one. Oh, man. Great. Well, if I'm a receiver and running back because you make 40 and we're like, or no, I don't know. Or you should take care of your body too. Yeah. No, CMC is like the one guy that actually should ask for that. Like, hey, I'm a number three. Well, there was a two, I think there's a two stat stretch there on Levy on where like, I thought it was a nice try. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I like the idea, especially at that position. And he saw where the league was going. Hey, this is a passing league. I can't, I can't fall still. I can do it. Yeah. If I look at it, let me well, maybe, I don't know. What are we talking here? So in 16 and 17 East India, basically 1300 yards and then receiving. Well, damn, I mean, he had 83 catches 24, 75, 85, 66. Again, it was a nice try. That's those are like, if you're running for 1300 yards and you've got 85 for 655 on the ground, like, it didn't work. High usage. It's a high usage. I know. It's a lot of reps. I'm a lot of reps. Marshall Falk probably should have asked for that too, back in the day, because he was like, that was like all him for a couple of couple of years there. I forgot in the Bauerstein, because they threw up most tight and yardage first two seasons of a career. And I think Brock was fourth, I can't believe Ditka is still first. Ditka is still the first in most yards for any tight end to start his career this first two seasons. The 14 game seasons back when Buddy Dial was fifth in the league, I think, in total receptions. That's how pits broke, right? But his rookie year is he broke Ditka's record. I think as a rookie. And then, you know, we don't want to talk about Kyle pits on the show. He's banned because it just leads into fantasy. Like, oh, I have him on my fantasy team. Everyone has sad. It's sad. It's just what could have been. What could have been talking about mining them up as a receiver. That's what they were doing is rookie in second year. And then the injury happened. He was so filthy in college. All right. Is that was that one each there? Do you have another one? Let me see. I got. I'm kind of digging, kind of digging the jets. Oh, okay, I got another one. Stillers. Oh, line. I do want to talk about it. Yeah, we ever Rogers has to be addressed today because it was of all the teams since days revamped D like, hey, what's going to happen? Whoa, this is way better. Okay. And it was also one of those things where it's like I was kind of curious. Again, the Texans game where I was like, CJ Stroud had a lot of success to the slot into tight ends. I'm still not sold on those linebackers for the bangles. And I think Rogers, Mike McCarthy watched the tape too. A lot of attacking of the linebackers. They like, I even has that, yeah, throws to the seams sets in between the numbers and the hashes, 1219, 196 yards, two touchdowns. I'll just throw us to the seams. That's, you know, that's the area the linebackers are going to cover. Some in breakers, they changed their formation usage as well, which I thought was interesting. A lot less spread. Actually, just mixed it up a little bit. But the key thing is they revamped the line. They max a integer who I loved. He was my number 11 overall player out of the airs on a state. Really cool story came to football late. Juco guy, just a freak and looked great. They also put in a right guard to more of a fact. I Brock Hoffman, but the old line looked more cohesive. The run game looked better. And Rogers pushed the ball at 9.77 areas of target. That was the highest these had since he joined the Steelers. They had 10 explosive plays and they they're explosive play rate was 17%, which is the highest Rogers Rogers has had since he's been with the Steelers. So it just felt improved. It felt like a real offense as opposed to check down, check down, check down launch play, check down, check down, decay drop. Like actually felt like a real offense with run game and pass game. Alright, final thought. I'm going to end it with an impossible headline. Maybe roll one of these out every week.
So it's just a thought that enters my brain when I'm watching on Sunday and then be like, what if in a year this were the headline? The Cleveland Browns are excited to announce a contract extension with Deshaun Watson. - Oh, excited, it might be wrong. - It might be the wrong word. - The Cleveland Browns have announced a contract for Deshaun Watson, how about that? - Oh man, I don't know if they want to do it anymore. Have you ever seen, have you seen what is like deadcapist, his void years, whatever I should say? 'Cause they just kept it in the can. - That's right, yeah. It's all, there's still four more void years on there, right? - Yeah. - Yeah. - So maybe that's why they want to do it, just like change up the path for them. - You can't run, but they get to stop running keepers for him. - He cannot. - His no first. - No, that's what two of you always does. - Right. - But. - I'm not hearing a lot of Shaddore Sanders stuff anymore. - No. - Say that. - No, you're not. Or, hey, why the Browns get rid of Baker, didn't hear that, didn't hear that much after that came. I will say, Munkins down it up. He's, they got some cool players, man. Harold, fans, cool. - What do they have? - Six. - Fan is a beast, too. - He's in state. - He's in state. - 24. - You're so back to it. - Then they get to A&M. Back to back weeks, he's just dominated big time schools. I know, yeah. He's a weird player, but he's cool. I, my, yeah, but they got two rookie receivers. What is it, six, first or second, four rookies and two second year guys in the offense playing? - Yep. - And they're all good. - Quinchon, John, John, they're all good. Casey conceptions good, and him and, Tenzo Boss and that perfect synergy. So Charles McDonald, who I used to work with at Yahoo, he's now at the athletic. He had a great comparison for Held Fanon. On field ability only. He runs and moves like Aaron Hernandez. And once you, once you see it, you can't on see it. They juke the same, they run routes the same. Even some of the yak body strength stuff is the same. And it's like, now I can't on see it. It's like, yeah, I had a Jeremiah Love comparison that OJ Simpson on field only. And again, now it's like, why did I say that? 'Cause they, that same upright running style. Like they, they run the same. Everyone said they're good. - Oh, nice to see him get some touches yesterday. - Yeah. No, a card over a game. - They finally were like, hey, we did spend a really high pick on this guy. Why don't we, it's gonna go. I mean, like, maybe he's not great in past pro. We don't give a shit. We're gonna get 20 touches today, please. - I just got juice. - No, what about your cam war thought? 'Cause I agree. - Oh, the last pick was understandable. - I think the last pick is our Valarice. - Look, cam war has been terrible. There's a clip of him where he looks like he's at a barbecue. And it's the game. And by the way, if anybody watched the cam war from before, you're like, man, the casual stuff could be concerning. But when you win and you put together the season he had at Miami, it's like, man, it's kind of like my Dominic Rayola stuff. Like, I don't like it when it looks casual. And then when he's doing it and it's working and you're like, man, he's just so smooth. He's so connected. He can't hurry this guy up. - Yeah. - Yeah, man, this guy sees everything out there. So with cam, it was like, he's get great confidence into abilities. And we've seen now through a year plus of cam war's career. They're like, you just stop doing some of this shit, man. And so that drop back that's making the rounds where you cannot believe it's a quarterback in an NFL game with live bullets flying around all over the place. Having said that, they get an encroachment on fourth and one that moves the chains that they're going down for the game when he touched down. They're taking shots all over the place. Some dudes are throwing out of the back of the end zone. Like, really good quarterbacks are even doing it too. I know whether concern all this different stuff, but he's got first and goal. And Javon Hall and the safety for the Giants, I actually think is bad as you can make it out to be because of where this cam story's going and because of that earlier clip and because he's had just a disastrous, like he's been arguably like the worst one. Quarterback, yeah, through this many games and it's a number one pick. So I immediately was like, you've got to be fucking kidding me when I saw it live with him. I'm like, how bad is this guy going to be? And then I watched it again, I go to Javon Hall and having the instincts to get back to that. Like, I don't even know if it's going to be complete because the receiver that he's locked in on has still got a pretty good trail coverage there by that corner. But there's no way, I don't care if you're cam ward or if you're Aaron, you do not think Javon Hall and is cutting back that way. You think he's clearing and you're at least going to have a chance at a contestive catch. So I was going to, so we agree. I thought I was going to be on an island on this one. - No, well, some people are saying he should have ran it. Arvel Reese's got an angle on him. Arvel Reese ran a freaking door for six. So they, and cam ward cam ward's not, he's not that guy, he's not that runner. Not Lamar, you know. No, and that's, I actually watched that game back 'cause I did not pay attention to it live. And I was like, you know, it's, I got to start narrowing this field a little bit as the season goes along. And I watched it back and it's one of those again. It's like, it's not as bad as it looked. And I was like, really? It wasn't. - On the pick or the game, just the game. So I think cam ward looked better than people think. - Yes, I know, I'm just damning myself here. - Holy shit. - And again, I, I, I, I cam ward is the guy that grew, I mean, grew on me as a prospect, you know, and then grew on me kind of like, you've watched the Seahawks game last year and again, you're trying, you don't want to extrapolate everything. But some of the stuff you can do, he has a good feel for some stuff, you can trick shot stuff, create throw angles. This game, it was like, get a drop by a window around, and sound the first third down, right in his belly. Again, high paid for the agent. Third nine, they also were doing a whole bunch of run run pass. Then third nine, there was a sign of the Calvin Reilly. - Love it. - Yeah, a little behind. But Calvin Reilly. - And you're so crazy me that Jim Fossil said, Sean Payton can't call calls. Like, you, you can't, you can't call plays anymore. - I know, you got, you mentioned it. Was that this first year plan call in place? - They branched him. - I would never forget this like call into WFA and back when I used to religiously listen to it. And some guy calls in a Mike and Mike and Mike in the dog. Excuse me, Mike and Mike hadn't started yet. And he's like, yeah, Fossil, he goes, "A run run pass punt." And I just thought it was so funny. And not like it was the first guy to ever say it, but it was very true, especially that era of the NFL. And then as this Davis web thing has made the rounds, just imagine in a world where Jim Fossil told Sean Payton, enough of you, like I'm doing, it makes sense. It makes sense from back then, especially him being unproven. So keep going. - Especially when you just don't have a dude at quarterback, they were just like, yeah, of course I'm gonna throw it all the time. Like that, if you ever looked for the last 10 years, it was always like the high pass rates. It was like, yeah, I bet you the bills and chiefs have high pass rates for a reason. Is that David Brown? - It's good. - You know, those guys can really chuck it. But no, you know, I was watching a lot of third downs 'cause all the throws early were on third downs. It was runner-up pass, runner-up pass. They throws it a little out to Wendell Ramson. I already talked about that when the corner out. Third and 14, Carnaultane, Wendell Ramson, run the same route. So he checks it down. That's happened multiple times with this team. Has the screen, where it's just an RPO package play where everyone will call it to run play with a little screen on the outside and you read the box count, reads it correctly. Calvin Ridley just doesn't block anybody. So the screen gets smoked. The second half, they started to throw it on early downs and you could see him starting to get into a rhythm and start cooking a little bit. So again, it was one of those upon rewatch, it was more understandable, like, yes, stats or stats. It was a rainy day, the chill out play. And even on the chill out play, he was waiting for the back to get out. 'Cause it was a very chill. - It was a very chill. - He did that in college though. - He did it all the time. - Obviously, people didn't see it. No, then, like you said, complimentary, sweet. Look how chill he is now. - He's made him up. - No, he can't do it. - But no, there was a two-man route that they've done this for years. He did it with the bills, but it's a run pass check. If it's single high, you throw it. If it's too high, you run it. The outside routes are covered and he's waiting for the run back to the week out. And so that's why he was like, all right, where are you? Like, get out, get out. But it's one of those. Can you look just a little bit more urgent and maybe people won't get on to you. But upon rewatch, it wasn't as bad as it seemed. It was more just like an average performance with a lot of disappointment around him. - Okay, a vote for cam neutrality, abstaining maybe. - I should say. - Yeah, I would say, yeah, abstains from cam wore criticism after week three. - Yes. - You can check out more of Nate on Yahoo Sports. And of course, football 301. Great Monday, man. Thanks. - Thanks for having me. - Four weeks into the college football season. So that means I put together my very, very important top 12/ top 14 with the expanded players. I can't wait to do top 24. It's gonna be awesome. Anyway, look, I think the overall feeling we have a month in right now is whatever we thought about the title contenders. I don't know how anyone is necessarily like in love with any one of these teams. Now clearly, one of these teams could be doing something. Maybe it's Georgia early on, Notre Dame, Miami, where you're like, hey, they were just rolling everybody. Anyway, so we should have known which would be totally fair, right? But the problem of college football, even more so now with a transfer portal of all the four major sports that we talk about, we are the least educated on college football, even in the older version. And now it's even worse, right? So at the beginning of the year, what was the clear thing? Especially as we talk about like the big 10 in the SEC, it's like, I don't know which SEC contender I put up there with those three big 10 teams. Like granted, we knew stuff would change. But now that we're a month into this, you're like, okay, what do I do with the three big 10 teams? And wait a minute, if everybody likes Texas, like, yeah, there's a couple of nice resume wins on there, but what do we do with Texas? So look, I have Texas number one. I don't feel like none of this is like me pounding the table really on any of this stuff until I get to the coaches pole, maybe a little bit later here. But you know, Texas rolls in a Knoxville, and clearly they're a better team for an afternoon. The past rush is ridiculous. I mean, what they did, Brain.
in the freshman phase on Brennan and they knock him out of the game, he left, then came back in, and he not only, like, couldn't handle it, which is totally understandable for freshman in this spot as young as he is. And like, there's a little bit different here, because Texas's past rush is incredible. And even Simmons with his absurd celebration where they actually had to have an official say, simulating using the restroom with that celebration. The best part about Simmons celebration when he whips out his fake dick and then pisses all over the place is that I would guess we call it an air dick. Um, he put his hands up after like, what? What did I do? I mean, like, man, you kind of did something there. Anyway, he's one of my favorite players to watch in college football and not only was, like I said, the past rush all over the place, pick a number from Texas who was making plays. I think Brennan actually made it a little bit easier because he was just so lost back there and he was like turning into some of the past rush, so absurd numbers. I think there's two things with Texas that were sort of frustrating. One for an afternoon, to pressure this kid all day long and completely nullify anything they have on their offense, including, you know, probably three offensive players of the skill guys who I really like for Tennessee two receivers in the running back. You then decide to play like prevent coverage against them and dial back everything and then they go right down the score, touched down and make a 2017. And now you're like, okay, well, there's like a version of this where it's still a game where it shouldn't be a game. Bigger picture here is the explosive chart stuff that Bill Connelly had up this morning for college football teams. I think maybe you've been up last night, but I was looking at it. And, you know, Georgia's off the charts. Miami's off the charts. Oregon's got a good number there. And it's basically like how often and then the rate of explosiveness, depending on yards. And Texas is kind of mid to below average on this chart. They're down there. We're like Michigan, Michigan state. And I don't think anybody that's watched those teams on offense this year is like, man, that's exactly what I want my offense to look like, which feels impossible with Texas's personnel. So, yes, I have number one because of the Ohio State win, another ranked win on the road in the SEC, but I don't feel like I'm not in love with them nor am I really necessarily in love with anyone. After that, it's Georgia. Maybe it wasn't just Matthias Thumb, which we spent all summer talking about. This Oklahoma offense, they're doing the exact same thing that they were doing last year. They're 10th and opposing yards per play defensively. They were insane defensively last year, with maybe the most putrid offense we're going to see from playoff team and it's happening all over again. And the turnovers are missed. Georgia and the other side of things, they, despite not having explosiveness, offensively the last couple of years there, as I mentioned before, in the chart, kind of off the charts, exactly what you want. And the defense was just pounding everybody all over the place again. I mean, number nine for them was just a machine on top of the touchdown that he had. So, I do wonder, though, I was a little surprised I was looking at the Heisman odds because I feel like, hey, it's Georgia's eight know, like what's going to happen with Gunnar Stockton's Heisman campaign, because it feels like a default thing that you do happen with Marcel Reed last year, who I was wondering when he was going to be benched in that game against LSU. I actually kind of was wondering, maybe against Arizona State, or at least I was looking up who the backup was for A&M. But when Marcel Reed was getting the push, it was like, okay, well, he's the quarterback on what is now the highest ranked SEC team. So this guy's like going to be in the Heisman race. I'm like, you know, if Jeremiah Smith were to lose the Heisman, if he keeps doing what he's doing to the 12-0 quarterback, I'm going to be upset about it, because again, this award should be about who we think the best player in college football is. And I understand the value of the quarterback thing, clearly known as more valuable than somebody that's great, but if you're just kind of on the team, that's also awesome. And Stockton, this is like four guys on Georgia. You have to worry about carrying the football. He's been terrific, but I never watch him and think this is one of the best players in all of college football. So Georgia number two, I've got Notre Dame three. Maybe they are number one. Maybe it's Michigan State 1710, half-time score. Maybe I'm giving Georgia more credit for Oklahoma than I am for Notre Dame against Wisconsin or Notre Dame, although lookout Wisconsin. Nice comeback against Penn State when it looked like that was never going to happen considering the turnover problem they were having. The good news for Notre Dame is just killing everybody. You turn it on, produce up 35, nothing. So I'm not watching them as much as I probably should be, but it's also 35, nothing and there's other games on. So I don't know that I need to go back and watch it take. Mike at Gilbert, the junior wide receiver for the Irish had 170 against Michigan State, another touchdown against Purdue. So receiver wise, another guy either have to handle. How about this stat from number four Miami? Again, they might be number one. Wouldn't argue against it. It's just I've got to reward some of these teams, at least for playing somebody. Darian Mensa right now is 94 of 106. His completion percentage is just a tick under 89%. He has 14 touchdowns in 12 incompletions on the season. And now I think we know why Wake scored 20 against the Canes. Look out, go Wake. I juggled this back and forth, but I really, you know, you're seeing this in the voting with Indiana getting first place votes in both polls because there's just so many people. I remember Mel Kuiper being like, you should be number one as a defending champ, no matter what. I was like, if all 100 guys are different, you should just be number one until you lose and he was like, yep. And I love Mel, but I just disagreed with that 20 years ago. I disagree with it now. But some voters are still doing that. And if I'm being true to my, did you plan any one thing? I have to put Ohio State with the loss at five ahead of Indiana at number six. If you watch that Indiana Northwestern game, the fact that Northwestern got back into that thing felt impossible watching Aiden Childs run that offense in the first half. I'm like, how the hell I'm granted they scored 40 the week prior, but it was a mess. Then three real touchdown drives plus a field goal in their second half possessions. So they were, it wasn't like, hey, a turnover and then short field or, you know, big kickoff return and all these different things. They were like real drives with real plays in there. And I think there was a turnover in there. But, you know, you dig into some of the Indiana numbers and you go, okay, opposing yards per play last year, there were 17 this year. They're 28th. There's not a huge drop off. And if you look at those total numbers and how they're baked in and who Indiana was playing to close the season, it's not shocking. Maybe that number isn't a little bit higher considering how much we love their defense last season. The offense right now yards per play is fourth in college football. Yards per carries fifth. And if you were to just look at the Mendoza stat line last year, the high's been winning Mendoza stat line from 25 against Hoover. It's not nearly as like, I was shocked when I looked at it that it's this close, both completing Mendoza last year was 72% 41 six touchdown interception split 11 air yards intended per attempt, which was the best number in college football. His passer rating was, was nuts. Hoover's numbers are actually like right there 70% 11 touchdowns, no picks 10 and a half yards per yard attempts on on these throws. His passer ratings actually higher. But look, Indiana, you know the deal and anyone as well. It just doesn't feel the same. It doesn't feel the same. It feels like there's some misthrows out there all over the place. So I'm not digging them up a ton here. If you have them five, go ahead, but I have to credit Ohio State for going on the road, going into Texas and still losing and blowing that game. All right, a couple Ohio State things. Julian saying a quarterback last year was probably one of my favorite quarterbacks because I just thought he's never going to make any mistakes. Yes, there were some training wheels on him. Yes, they ran a slow offense. We've covered this where there was a priority from Ryan Day being like, I actually want to run less plays because we expect to play like 16 or 17 of these games. You you look at like as we 16. So if you look at the stuff I like from saying, it's still a lot of the same stuff. But man, it just feels like something physically with him where I thought maybe a year later, there'd be a little bit more juice to him. And there just doesn't seem to be at least for me enough juice. And there's times when I watch him, I'm like, man, if he didn't have Jeremiah Smith, I wonder what this would look like because Jeremiah Smith makes up for everything. And I still cannot believe there was a big 10 coach that told Bruce Feldman that Jeremiah Smith was just DK Metcalf. That's fucking insane that that's somebody who works in this sport. All right, number seven. Gators, I'm serious. That was an ass kicking down in the swamp. And when it's right, it's one of the best places in all college football. You already knew that. Now we could say a Ole Miss bit of a hang over all the emotion of the LSU revenge game. And sure, I think that's fair. I mean, it was kind of like one of those spots to be expected. It's 17, six of the half. But then Ole Miss comes down scores is 17, 14. I'm going, hey, Trinidad's going to respond. That's what this guy does. And it's 17, 14. I'm like, okay, things, things will settle in. And then Ole Miss got dumped trucked. I mean, Florida's next possession is touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, game over, run out the clock. Stomptom. Over 300 yards rushing. This is the best running back combination in all of college football. Jane Ball, you've heard me talk about him going back to last year. He's so much fun. He is one of the few running backs where like, remember back in the day, you're like, kind of running back, just lead your team to victory. I mean, I don't think it can happen in the NFL anymore. In college, you know, follows all right, the Georgia Tech quarterback. I think this offensive play calling is fantastic. I thought they did a great job breaking all that stuff down. Florida makes you look in places where the ball is. They're just so good at it. And due Clark, the backup to ball is also insane. And then you've got your boy number 99, Oya Badejo, who McShay talked about this week, who Bruce Feldman mentioned in his notes leading up to this game.
He has 36 inch arms, which would have measured longer than any measurement at the 25 combine and Apparently like sometimes people say oh, he didn't pick up a basketball like what do you mean he didn't pick up a basketball until 17 like he was near a hoop and he just said no not for me and he was six seven I think a lot of times. It's like we didn't play organized basketball He's playing pick up against his uncles and his older brothers for like since he was seven. So it sounds good Number 99s from the UK Manchester and apparently did not touch a football until he was 18 years old And he looks like a freak. So I have Florida ahead of Bama, which is a little bit different there. So Bama At the half against Florida state. I was like look if Mike Norville gets fired Auburn might just hire him considering what's happened With Florida state against Bama here. It's the best Florida state had looked in that first half Florida state actually has some dudes to man telling you and then Bama just Rolls him but still gave up 36 points to him and I've also talked about Keenlyn Russell Which I know as a freshman first time out there There's gonna be stuff that you don't necessarily like but when I'm talking about Bama like potentially winning the SEC I'm going alright. I get how gifted he is but he's got to stay in the pocket and trust these receivers a little bit more I know he's so gifted that these kids just get away with it their entire lives of just baneling and some guys get away with it all through college Let me see what happens DNFL, but I thought two of the things I love the most and I need to go back a watch the whole game Because of the Dylan Stewart stuff as well, but watching the Keenlyn Russell snaps like the first one to Brooks He stays in the pocket. There's a lane to bail and probably pick up 10 yards and he stays in the pocket and then Ryan Coleman Williams Gloves on again On that shot just kind of staying in the pocket letting that route develop You know on the first one to Brooks. He has like a couple throws underneath. There's like all sorts of stuff that he can do So I don't know if that's them saying wait wait on this But I love that on on a couple deep shots and some of the other stuff that I was watching for him It's like this is great like he can bail when needed but he can't bail before everything else develops and that's exactly Once you want to see this early into all so yeah, I have Bama and Florida flipped there Ole Miss Covered it already I have him nine in the AP BYU is 10th. Why now? I think BYU is good I picked him to make the playoffs, but I mean this is based on who they've played so far There's strength of schedule ranks 116. I know Utah tech can be feisty But they're last in the big in the big sky and then Arizona Colorado state so I don't understand why Texas tech is behind them in the polls I think Texas tech's got a rank win against Houston and I think they're probably being dinged for that Oregon state came You're like what the hell's going on here Oregon state not actually terrible. So I have tech 10th I have LSU 11th. How about Lane Kiffin? Maybe the only coach ever who gave an injury update when not asked about Sam Levitt and Said he's hurt as you can see he's hurt But there's coaches that somebody could be decapitated and they would go to the sideline reporter and be like he's questionable to return just go with that So yeah Lane train and it was kind of funny too because it's something I feel about watching Levitt where he was like yeah the calf injuries actually like Now he has to stay in the pocket That was like yes, I agree with you 12 we could go Utah. I would probably go Utah over BYU, but I'm gonna go Iowa Shout out Waterloo I'm gonna say the Hawkeyes with their win a couple thoughts on their comeback against Michigan So before I get to some final thoughts here from the weekend in college football. How about the coaches poll? You guys get mad at us about MVP voting Jesus the coaches still have Penn State ranked Remember when I had my whole Nebraska you'd have to be an OG to remember my Nebraska thing like the coaches poll refused to remove Nebraska back in the low pollini days Michigan still ranked They have LSU ahead of Ole Miss, which is the one who you're like what are you doing? An SMU moved up six spots after their battle with the Missouri State Bears Iowa I've seen the future And his name is Wanami number 81 tight end. I Will run out three tight ends. They could do 14 personnel. They might be the only team to pull it off and This game was just like every other Iowa game that I watch I watch Iowa, Iowa State and at one point I was like is it paused on that screen? What the hell's going on? I was like, oh nope. That's all live the game is still on The positives from Michigan. This was Bryce underwood's best game Good not telling you it's like all-world, but This was even in the loss. This is something you should feel a little bit better about That last drive Because you're kind of wondering like what's what's Iowa going to do here? Because there was a there was a previous drive where it was fourth and one They're lined up to go for it They're still down so the field goal isn't gonna tie it and Then it's like they get back up False start fourth and six appearances and going for it there in that spot. It's a really tough field goal. They missed the field goal All right, so they get the ball back and They have two plays that are in balance and I'm not like making this an Iowa thing This is an overall football thing, but it happens in college more than does the NFL USC's a perfect example this Get out of bounds or stop giving your players options to make plays when the clock is your enemy here And it doesn't matter about the yardage where guys are in bounds like these throws to the flats Like that emergency bailout take the couple yards or maybe your guy makes a play I don't even know if I want to give that option or do some of these younger quarterbacks because they're gonna take it because it's open And it's like well that's worse and then Hank Brown had a run where he almost busted and got dragged barely touched Just how strong a defensive lineman was for mission to get him down in that spot and keep him in bounds and Then you have Iowa kind of not knowing what they want to do with the timeouts and they cost themselves Like eight seconds The other tight end makes a great tip catch They they ended up getting the game winner there and there's a part of me that's like man can Michigan be one and three I don't feel like Michigan was the wrong side in the Oklahoma game, but Oklahoma with that big turnover at the end certainly made it a lot easier for them So yes kind of a weird Michigan thing the defense is fantastic But I think Bryce played a lot better and that's why I have Iowa up here because I just kind of respected that win and how tough that was All right, that leaves us with USC and Oregon Both not in my top 12 SC Lincoln Riley's been there since 22. Okay, and if you watch the game Dante Moore gets knocked out by eight for USC He's been suspended for another game by Lincoln Riley. I think the late hit thing I mean clearly it was late hit I'm not going to get up in arms about the actual late hit because I think sometimes it happens This is somebody who was fifth and tackles. I think last year in the big 10 Desmond Who's been suspended? But then he gets up and starts flapping his duck wings around and he's that absolute dick the whole time and he loves it And then he's on the sideline and he's and look eyes I get older and I'll say this all the time because I'm not gonna go the other way I don't think science, but You just like all right defensive players kill kill kill mentality out there. They're high five and like I get it It's not great. It's not what you want, but I understand it and I'm not gonna lose it I thought him flapping around while Dante Moore is like out and they're getting a stretcher for him It like hey, dude figure out that nobody wants to shit right now. All right, so there's that part of it Rayola comes in which is crazy that he's even there in the first place considering his recruiting and background and knowing that He's gonna have to sit the year, but I guess the cell is like hey, and I L and Dante Moore did it behind Dylan Gabriel So it'll all work out I've never been a huge rail guy because I just was like yeah, I get it I get where the talent is, but it just feels a little too loose to me. He was phenomenal in this game And the Oregon pass rush look better perich the transfer who you know comes over and at this point He's like, oh, he's he's not thing him and but it's like well, he's not gonna be a first round pick defensive back So it's a disappointment. He has the pick in the back of the end zone But there was a lot of good stuff. I think you're defensively they shuffled around I think the tackles as well for Oregon. So you know, there was just some better stuff Like you know, it's not like I'm watching them going. Okay, they're back to the national title conversation here because what is USC Other than extremely disappointing throughout the entire Lincoln Riley tenure Now Riley came in in 22 and if you go through the ranked wins here the question I'm gonna ask you was like do they actually have a defining win where you're like Here we go In five years under Lincoln Riley, which is like of all the programs that look in the mirror and see something different than what the rest of us See nationally like USC should look in the mirror and see that thing Like I remember doing this segment years and years ago where it was like when this program was gonna mayor You know who do they see and then who are they actually and like with SC I don't blame them For looking in the mirror and expecting like greatness that tier one level of of whether it's the history or whatever like SC Should be one of these teams everybody has their down cycles But SC should be one of those teams are like okay. They're back. They're back. All right and When some other coaches are brought in it's generally Disappointment. I mean look at a and M with Elko. They're like Elko. I thought we were getting Next statement.
you know, and that's what everybody wants to do. And when SC got Lincoln Ryder, you're like, damn. Okay, 'cause I remember having McShay and I was like, hey, if all the college coaches right now that NFL teams are raving about, who is it? And it didn't take him a second. He's like Lincoln Ryder. When he was doing a local home, back-to-back, high-smist, back-to-back, number one picks, who just faced off in a battle in the NFL. So this is an absolute home run, based on anticipation, who you think you are. And like, yeah, he came to us. I mean, it's probably felt a hell of a lot better than James Franklin announcement, which is being rumored for a while there. So in '22, they beat number 16 UCLA, beat number 15 Notre Dame, but they ended up two and three against ranked teams. In '23, they were only four against ranked teams until they beat number 15 Louisville in a bowl game. They allowed, by the way, in their last seven regular season games in '23, 42 points per game. In '24, they beat LSU in Vegas. I know. LSU was 13th. LSU was an above average team in '24. They went nine and four. They lost their next three ranked games, so finished one in three, and then beat unranked NM in the bowls. In '25, they lost to number 23 Illinois, beat number 15 Michigan, who was nine and four, so kind of like an LSU team, where you're like, okay, you guys are good, but whatever. Lost number 13 Notre Dame, beat number 21 Iowa, lost to number seven Oregon, two and three. So that's six and 14 against ranked teams, including the Oregon loss. They are against top 10 teams, 0 and 5. Their defense since Lincoln has been there and yards per play allowed. So opponents yards per play, 1/19, 93rd, 78th, 53rd last year, and they were pissed. And now it's back to 92nd again, and I don't know if those numbers sort it out again, and how bad it was. There is no signature win in five years for Lincoln Riley to see. And it was supposed to be Saturday night. And when Dante Morgan goes out, it's an unfortunate as the whole thing is, it's like, all right, you've got to win this game. And yeah, there's talented guys there, and you can get in the NIL thing and the difference, but it's not like Ellis or Susan, it's not like USC's Boston College here, who I think is last of all the power for programs, like 8 million. When Boston decides it doesn't like something, it doesn't like something. SC's like 40, maybe 37, 40 base of the numbers I looked at this year, maybe 10 plus 13 plus less than Oregon. So I don't really think you can do the NIL ship on this one, but you want to talk about the home run higher that has not delivered since he's been there. It's Lincoln Riley. I have every tour you can possibly imagine. And best of all kids, I am liquid. So now you know what's possible. Let me tell you what's required. - Life advice. So Rudy back in the mix, Kyle. Decked out is always looking great, Dapper. Good spirits. It appears this is deep from Kyle. Rep in the Pats brand despite the disappointing weekend. - I just think they need me now more than ever. - I just think they need me now. I was like, I'm like, don't do the cowardly Johnny's Cab to just come on. It was bad. It seemed like we were the only bad football game yesterday, which was a huge bummer. Especially because I was like fighting for seats in the bar. There's like a dad who like laid across four seats. So his 20 minute late family could come and sit at the bar and sit at the table. So I was already like, you know, I made a choice not to make a scene, but I was like, this is wrong. You don't save seats at the bar, go get yourself a table. And then we had a, you know, the worst game of the window and the day, just tough. I don't know that Giants Titans was a good game. I had it if it was close. If that had been an action, they're like, Dan, I felt always delivers. Look at this excitement. - Did I see a stat that it was like the most one score games in like NFL history or something? I saw something like that. And it's like the notable exception would be. I don't know what you saw. Yeah, I guess it's true. - Where are you at, though? Like panic meter. - Doesn't feel great. I gotta say, it doesn't feel great. Like a reminiscent of some feelings I had about the low points of the Mac Jones era. But I mean, the phantom fumble thing, I thought Barstow was like, "Man, Titans, girlfriend, with the strip sack." I'm drinking, I'm sorry. - From Will Hunting to Gem, give us a scale of, Pam, no, it's not good. It's not good. I'm just choosing to feel good about it somehow. - Because Will just got in a car and decided to drive. He made the right choice. Gem, however, no, I'm sticking around. It's definitely a gem. - Good. - Oh, I don't think, yeah, maybe I do a very good job. That didn't really work anyway. Do you want me to read some emails? - Yeah, let's move on. - Okay. Do we read a dream? We have dudes checking in with their dreams. - I mean, dream stuff, I gotta be honest, but I think that's just a personal thing. - Okay. - It's gotta be what I do, but. - Yeah. - Did you preview it at all? - I don't know, yeah, they're almost never good. (laughing) - And my friend who has a rule is like, I never, don't ever tell me about your dream. It's an awesome rule. Be great if we can just have it be an unspoken one. You know, everyone. - You think it should be part of Vows? Newfound Vows, so death do us part. And I will never tell you about my dreams. - Keep my dreams to myself. - What's the ranking for things you least want to hear about? It would be like, tell me about your golf round, hole by hole. - Yeah. - Dream step by turn. - Fantasy trap is probably high up there. - Trying to remember what hole seven looks like on a course you haven't played in a while, that sucks. - I would rather you whiteboard me out your entire golf round than tell me about the fantasy team. - Yeah, that, yeah. - No, the best is the guy's like, "Oh dude, I had this in my other league." And you're like, that's it almost hit, yeah. - All right, oh yeah. - That's it almost hit. What, the one that drives me crazy is like, when the guy tells you I had a guy who would tell me, he's like, "I just lost 12 grand." I'm like, you did. And it was like a 10 leg thing. - There's like a full grant of space cash that he never got. - Right. - He was like, "Okay, I got $42 down." But I was so close. - My friend that comes and watches with me, he's on all the different ones looking at all the promotions and he's constantly shoving his phone in my face. And like, when the pets are doing okay, I have a little bit more tolerance. But I was like, was getting a little heated with him yesterday. I was like, I'm gonna throw your phone out of this bar or door if you put it in my face one more time. So that was tough. - You check out the latest odds on traffic. - Yeah. - Definitely. - So, here we go, am I a cranky audience member? Jim Statz, that was a little Andy Cohenish, deeper. Jim Statz, 32 years old, 63, 225, great frame. That's like a big cap frame. Recently benched 300 pounds for a personal record. Is it bad if I can bench more than I squat? I'm sure some people will tell you, yeah. Hopefully a quick one here. I've always loved movies and TV shows. I'm not known to be critical of most of the things I watch solo or with friends and family. I've noticed in the past couple of years, I'm constantly trying to poke holes in the plot. I don't want to spoil anything specifically, but honestly, it's mainly this small stuff. I caught myself as recent as this week saying things like, quote, oh, they're just in DC now. Not one person is going to recognize her. He's got four of these. There's not an RA in this dorm. How are they throwing a party? Of course, he survived that car accident. I used to just sit back, relax and enjoy the show, but now I can't help but aptly, oh, shoot me. That was such a marathon, my part. But apply logic to situations or just question. How the story moves on. Figure this would be a fun conversation for you guys. This just happened with age. Is it now my personality? I have a newborn. I don't want to, what I don't want to do is jade the viewing experience as we watch things when he's older. By the way, he just moved to Iowa City, Go Hawkeyes, great timing. When the field of dreams minor league game, which is one and a half hours away, I felt obliged to watch the movie for the first time at age 32, honestly. You want to talk about poking holes watching a poker movie. You must have been embarrassed during that one. So who's talking? What's the property tax on something like that? I'm even making it as far as I'm doing well. Honestly, I really enjoyed it. Didn't even want to plug my logic. Describe above a wild series of decisions that were made. Now I know why people kept asking, is this heaven when I told them we were moving to Iowa? Okay, game day in Iowa this week, by the way. This only works if you have a partner in crime that wants to do it with you. Sort of like how you and Steve
like you hate the same things and that brings you guys closer together, like you have to have somebody that's willing to play ball. Otherwise, this is awful, man. This is tough. I think that's a great point. Does it make Ryan and I happier? Probably not, but we at least, sometimes I'm just like doing better. What's that? I think we're doing a lot better about not doing that anymore. Yeah. Yeah, I think you're right. You have. I think I made it like a sort of a self-awareness check. You're like, I just got to stop spending 20 minutes before we actually talk about what we want to talk about, just shitting on stuff. And then I thought about this a lot, because like, you know, like back in the day when it was like Walter Cronkite was on the news, and like everybody was watching the same TV shows, and you're like, everybody just like like stuff, like that must have been cool. Like now everybody just hates fucking everything. And and I got nightrider last night. She was awesome, right? Yeah, you know, like, and it's like, this is the bad people are poking holes in nightrider Kyle. Unreal call. Yeah, you're just like, Hey, no one had a problem with kit. Not one fucking kid I know in my class. Well, actually, I don't know, I just I sometimes I'm like, I have like, I have FOMO, but I and I like part of my life was in that era where like things were just kind of cool. And then we just have graduated to this thing, we're just like everything we have to just knock everything down. And that's just what we do in culture now. And it just sucks. And I don't know that I have no excuse for it. But I like where your head's at because like I think about that with my kids all the time is like, don't be a downer. Don't like everything's awesome to them. So just like be awesome act like everything's awesome. So at least I think that's that's like that's a good thing you're doing there. Maybe you have to watch something that's so off the you're like, I just showed my wife true blood. You know what I mean? That requires an insane amount of buy-in. You have to like, it's something that you just can't you would do it 20 times an episode. If you were going to be that guy, maybe you just have to like beat yourself over the head with something that's so impossibly full of holes that like maybe it just gets your little reset. Maybe not true blood. That's a big commitment. But by the way, you guys were just nailing it though because I was thinking about it the other day like we are now being designed for whatever reason. It is now a rush to be like, here's this thing and then it's like, okay, what's wrong with it? Potentially. Where's the quote to it here? Right. That's all anyone's doing. It sucks to sit with somebody like this. I'm just telling you, like it's a TV show. It's a movie. Like, yeah, Tom Cruise did survive. He's gonna another fucking 90 minutes to go man. Yeah, like believe it or not. I'll be back in two years. The new crew and didn't get him this time. Yeah, the star, the star of this TV show in episode two season three didn't die. Although of the sopranos, you know, usually they would. So there's a lot of that. Well, you have to understand like in storytelling, there's a lot of like, oh my god, this might not work out. Oh, it did work out. And then it's back to it didn't work out because of like things worked out all the time. Then I don't know that anybody would watch it. But sometimes we want like a boat. I think on those 30 minute sort of, I don't know, almost said something else, but shouldn't these 30 minute things we just kind of like, I remember somebody who was talking about writing for TV and it was like, what people lose all day, when they go home, they want to win. But then I think it got to happen. Yeah. But then I think things evolved. It's certainly away from like some of the 30 minute comedies and all that kind of stuff that they put a bow on it all the time. But I think with like some of the more prestigious television stuff, it was a cycle of like things not working out, but you still had to do things with the characters to make people feel good about them and want to hang out with them as much as they were hanging out with them. So look, I think the quickest answer to this whole thing is like, yeah, no shit. You can do that. But if you've ever sat in a room, like I have a couple of family members that do this and you just can't even get through anything, I got to leave. I hate it. I hate it. Because you just sit there and you're like, what do you guys think there's a, is there an award? Are we keeping standings of who's calling out the most stuff throughout this now? Yes, I think there's sometimes like, I watch a Netflix movie the other day where I was like, come on. Yeah, and I had to look it up. And then when I looked it up, it was like the book does a much better job explaining why this thing is this, this, and I was like, okay, well, that makes sense. I'm like, employee, they just, they just went right over the top of that one with a steam roller. So yeah, I would dial it back, but I think the fact that you're writing us in the email and you've got a kid to Saroo's point, an easy fix, easy fix. Yeah, only do the top tier ones and then maybe look over, check your audience if she's not into it, then like just go back to watch the movie, you know what I mean? Don't do the beat here. Save it for the S tier. Come on. And then, and then, you know, maybe peak over and see if she was into that or not. She's probably not. My wife thinks she can beat Kate and Clark one-on-one. My wife, who I loved dearly, legitimately thinks she can beat Kate and Clark one-on-one. The start is a fun habit. Usually this would be like my husband thinks he can beat. I just had a conversation like this at the boys golf trip where my buddy, who is six-two, he's probably two-fifty. He's big dude. He thinks I was like, what do you think you would do Angel Reese, you one-on-one? And he's like, I'd win. I was like, I think you'd lose 11-nothing. Like easily. He's good at hoops? No. He's not like, he's not like a bad athlete, but he's just like, I was like, dude, you can't dribble. He's playing high school. You don't have any, no, you don't have any post moves. I'm like, you would, he's like, I would just get, I would just get rebound. She's only six three or six four. I was like, ah, no. I don't think so, dude. I don't do a lot of rebounds. He's a classic bar room. I can't tell you how many times this or a very 90% similar thing happened across frolic room bars, you know. It's just, it's, it's kind of like perfect fodder. It never, it never gets old. Dude, he's a big guy with wide base. Like he, but I, well, if he can't dribble ever, you know, she's not my favorite player, but I don't know. I don't know. He was like, what's her vertical? And I said, well, what's your vertical? You know, like, it's not, he's not setting it right. There's that's for one of these people, right? Yeah. If you were really good, like high school player had some post moves and you just back down to 250, like, it wouldn't be fun. Yeah. So if he can't do any of those things, I mean, look, hand up. There's a reformed 20 year old, like I'd get 20 a game in that league, which is 100% what I believed at the time. I, you know, a little older now handles a little creekier. I don't want to do that conversation anymore. And now I, yeah, whatever. This isn't about me. Let's go back to the email. It's about a wife. The start is a fun conversation over beers with family and friends on at least two separate occasions. Everyone had a good time with a hypothetical until I started getting questioned for not believing in my wife and not supporting her. Going on weeks of this conversation and me, you know, you know, why are we doing a dudes out there? We just, how about this? How about this week? We just announced it right now. Take it easy on dude week. Seriously, like you're getting starts. Yeah, Monday included. We're making a short week, too, because it probably has to be for guys. You know, right. Can't be a fool. We're not going to get guy months. All right. I go on weeks of this conversation and me clearly thinking she's delusional. She's still 100% believe she would win. I'm at a loss for how to handle the situation. My logical brain will not allow me to say my wife would win. And she's getting more irritated every time I don't. She's 35, 510, very fit, played basketball her entire life. She could have played small D1 if she wanted to, but decided to go the normal college route, winning a couple club national championships along the way. All right. So she's a really good player. She's also 35 and 510 in Katelyn Clark's one of the five best players in the world. She's widely confident when it comes to things she's good at. And I truly admire this trait in her, but she simply cannot be Katelyn Clark one-on-one. Not that I even need to say it. Simple question is, what do I do? Things that advance love the pod. Just tell her to really get away. Change my mind. You'd win. Yeah. This is this is the only. Yeah. Introducer that way. Hi, this is my wife Helen. She could be Katelyn Clark one-on-one. Oh my god. That would be diabolical, but awesome. I'd love that. This is one of those things you would like see on the four you page and be like, that's stupid. I'm not going to waste my time with it, but it's just you. It's in real life. And yeah, it's been like, hey, man, not worth. There's got to be some other argument. I've got to save my energy for. Yeah. There's going to be one that you wish you saved. I think there's there. Can she listen to this? I mean, like, here's the thing. I get this might be a little worse for him. Yeah. But you know how somebody will say like, oh, he's so competitive. There's also like, do you want to be a normal person, though, too? And it's like, yeah, I know Michael Jordan cheated a fucking monopoly. It doesn't mean you have to be a dick at the office, okay? There's this weird pride in, well, we need competitors. We need competitors. And then there's like times you just go, that's not being competitive. That's insanity. That's not fun for anybody. And nobody looks at you and goes, wow, that's a foxhole guy. Look how serious he's taking this issue. So it's great. She has confidence. It's great that she's competitive, unbelievable basketball deal there. Like I get it. If you're winning like those kind of club things, like you're a really good player. You're also not in your 20s. You're not big. You know, if you're that good, then try out for the WNBA. Correct. That's it. There you go. Open trials. There probably are some have her alleged, put her name in, put her info in and tell her she's eligible for the WNBA draft. Send some videos. I don't know. There's a huddle thing or whatever. Take some videos in the backyard. Send them in to the mission. Whoever it ends it. Yeah. My journey to the WNBA. Like you go try out. Tell
Let her go try out first. If she's better than one of the five guest players in the world, she should be playing for the fucking storm. - It's tough 'cause it's not really a good way to test her theory, right? Unless you like go down to the, you know, you butt into a women's D1 practice near you. So like, there's really not a good way to, you know, get some sort of comp, you know? And it's like the men versus women thing. You don't do that. You don't just show up to pick up, right? Like a, you know, normal pick up hoop run. So there's really not a good way to refuse this. It's just kind of lives in the ether. So, like the, like the dude equivalent of this, I didn't even know what it would be. Like you would, so a girl who could have played low D1. So your buddy who played at like, you know, Quinnipiac, for example, things he's better than, like Cooper Flagg, I don't, I don't even know. Like, it's worse than that. It's like Anthony, I was like, who is that? - Yeah. This is like playing, having an awesome intermural career at Stone Hill and then saying, you're better than, well, Yannis would be a little difficult because of the physical nature of it. So maybe because of the physical part of it. Yeah, like, yeah, but I don't think anybody would say they were better than the step. By the way, not, there's no open trials for the WNBA, which as soon as I said it, that would probably be problematic. - Good job refuting that. - Yeah. - Yeah, well, just in case Chad decides to show up, like, nope, I'm a woman, just going to leave that alone. - Ball up top. - I did have a, I wouldn't even call him a buddy, but a guy I went to high school with who did not play on the high school team. He wasn't a terrible player, but I wouldn't even say he was like a good, reckless player, who was like, I could walk on it, you come, if I wanted to. All right, man. I mean, my brother still comes into this day. - There are extremely manager roles 20 years later. - The world might need dudes like that, though. How does stuff get invented? - Yeah, we get the moon without it. - If a guy doesn't think, you need a few dudes like that in every city, so yeah. I do remember, though, when I found out about the walk on/student manager role, 'cause somebody was arguing with me about these guys on an elite team, and I'm like, there's no way those guys played at that high school that are at this team, and they were like, yeah, actually, they are. And then I had to know more about it. It was like, yeah, there's kind of like this student thing where you know you're never gonna play. I don't know if it's preferred walk on or what. So it's like, I don't know. But even that, you know, how about I just shut up and read more more about it? - I should know more about this, you guys probably do. What was Titus's deal? He was like a, right, he was a walk on. Okay. Was he like a decently read guy like in high school? - In high school, yeah. - You wanna go to a high school? He was at like the most winningest high school in Indiana or something like that. One of those kind of brownsburg, it's like a big deal, I think. Their basketball stadiums, like a football stadium, I think they do like a, it's really important. - Was it part of the Odin package? - It was like that. - His, well, his AAU was like legendary. His AAU team that he was on was like, you know, awesome. So I mean, must have been good enough to keep sticking around, you know? - Yeah. - Always a good vibes guy too, yeah. - Yeah. All right, last one, five, nine, two, 30 unit, 29 years old, back squad up to 365 in college, currently working to get the 5K time under 30 minute consistently. As I've gone more towards running than lifting in my adult years, pickup comp is a lazier, heavier, ish, Smith, that is, that's great. You can handle the rock, facilitate, not necessarily incapable of jump shooting, but I definitely shouldn't be taking shots away from more capable scorers with any regularity. Early last month, I played in a fundraiser golf outing for an athletic program at the school I coached for. All right, that's probably important. On the second hole, I dropped a seven iron, about four or five feet away from the pin, 170 out. As an 18-handed cap, I'm already stoked to put a good shot out there. Even more so with it being closest to the pin for the outing. My ball was the closest. - Yeah, that's a great shot. - My ball was the closest at the time, so I wrote my name on the stake, and by later that afternoon, I was still in first place. At the end of this round, I had another obligation out of town, I couldn't stay for the award, so I tell a couple of buddies of mine to keep an eye out, let me know if I won, and to let me know what my winnings were. Both guys texted me to let me know that I won, but neither responded when I asked what I won, and if I won anything, this was annoying at the time, but I see both these guys regularly, so I figured I'd mention it to one of them within a week or so and get to the bottom of it. Well, a month and a half has now passed, and I completely forgot about the situation. Is it too late to say something, especially not knowing what the cash prize was or if there was a prize at all? I feel cheap going back and saying, hey, remember that closest to the pin at the golf outing in August? I never got anything from that. Is it a bold assumption that there was a prize at all? If the money stayed with the Booster's Club, I guess I don't have a problem with it since I'll eventually recoup those funds in some way towards the sports program. So that's actually like an important hack and charger to the game using Kyle's letter earlier, because it's kind of all baked into what you're doing, but I don't want to be in a situation where someone else kept the money I should have gotten. Is this putting too much thought into an undisclosed and likely nominal amount of money and it just need to charge it to the game or am I a pushover for even considering not asking about it? I don't care about the money. I don't care about the money and services, right? Probably not money. I got to know what happened. Yeah, I'm asking somebody. Yeah. And I don't think it means you're being cheap 'cause you're right. If somebody's getting over on you, I don't think you're wrong. I don't think you're, I mean, I think it's tough to go to the actual event six weeks later, seven weeks later by the time we read this and be like, "Hey, but if it's connected to the school, is there some sort of enroute or can you just ask your buddies be like, "Hey, I don't care. I just have to know what happened." Now, who knows? Maybe he had a couple of SAS marillas and then we're like, "Dude, we didn't even, it was $100 and we figured it'd pick up your gift card." Like, yeah, I forgot. 'Cause yeah, a lot of times this stuff isn't cash, right? When it's charity, it's usually like their sponsors and it's like, you know, a booklet of car wash coupons, free car washes or gift basket, spoffer too, whatever. That's probably what it is. - Yeah, if your buddy has a massage book in a couple of weeks, then you probably know what the deal is. - But I understand if like, it's not like you want to raffle and you run around, they pick the next guy. Like, you want to close it to the pin, which is fucking awesome, awesome. But how stoked you were when you saw it land there, wrote your name on the little thing in it. Like, you want to see this through to the end, even if it's just knowing what it is. So, I think dudes would respect that. You should ask. - Yeah, I'm with you. It's not about the prize, the money, whatever. Is there, do you know anyone else? Do you know like the guy run on the function? Can you just be like, hey, you know, he told me to ask you kind of thing, played dumb, just, you know, sniff around. 'Cause your boys at this point are, I just don't know if the truth's ever really coming out. Fortunately, unless you just like catch them right handed, doing something nefarious. But I would just, I would ask around the other guys and the other groups if they know and they're probably not gonna remember either. 'Cause I can be honest with you, I don't remember that. If I didn't win it or somebody in my group didn't win it, I'm not gonna know what the price is for most of this stuff was. Unless it's something I really wanted. But, yeah, if your boy shows up with like a, yeah. But if your boy shows up, you know, with the new like, you know, 50-grade Vokey wedge, you probably know like something's up in the house. - A little long for you, isn't it? (laughing) Anyway, all right, that'll do it for the show. Today, thanks Tom, Kevin and Kyle. And good to have somebody back. Fives are fine though, last week. - Good, good to hear, yeah. - A little nervous about it. - Yeah, we made it a point where like, let's really lock in. It's just the two of us. We don't have our sorority buffer. And we'll be back on Wednesday, all of our episodes on Netflix, Reiner Silla Show, Barstrel Sports. (upbeat music) (upbeat music)
