Rankings Risers and Fallers! How to Rank Vlad Jr.? (6/19 Fantasy Baseball Podcast)

The transcription covers two main topics: Instacart's grocery customization feature and a Fantasy Baseball podcast. Instacart's preference picker lets users choose produce ripeness and meat slicing, ensuring orders meet personal preferences. The podcast, hosted by Frank Samful with Scott White and Chris Towers, analyzes recent MLB pitcher performances. Gage Jump is spotlighted for a dominant start (7 innings, 1 hit, 7 strikeouts) and is deemed a must-roster pitcher due to his deceptive lefty delivery and high-velocity fastball. Sean Burke is praised for a surprising outing with increased velocity (98-99 mph), leading to a recommendation for streaming against a weak Cleveland lineup. Sean Manaea shows improvement with a sweeper pitch, while Shane Baz benefits from a matchup against the Angels without Mike Trout. Injury news includes Bobby Witt Jr.'s knee injury, Mike Trout's hamstring strain, and Francisco Lindor starting a rehab assignment. Christian Moore, a rookie called up by the Angels, and Mick Abel, a former top prospect returning from injury, are suggested as potential waiver wire additions in deeper leagues. The episode emphasizes strategic pitcher adds and roster management for fantasy baseball players.

Joy by Scott White and Chris Towers. Today on the show we've got rankings, risers and followers. Big bounce back starts and gauge jump. Looks like the real deal. Apologies in advance if this episode is a little loopy. If I'm a little loopy went to the next championship parade today. Actually made it into the parade which was like an accomplishment. No, no, no, just making it in to see the parade. It was a mission among itself. I saw a 30 minute wait just to get out of the subway. It was near the parade. It was as no way. You should have been on the float. You were the most famous person there, I'm sure. I think so. I have not slept very much, but here we are. Let's get weird. Let's talk about the players of the night. I don't believe it. I don't believe it. All right, Chris. You ask and you shall receive. I've got a little something for you. Gage jump looks pretty good. When he pitches, maybe we should all wear our shirts backwards. That was Chris Cross' thing, right? Yeah. And then there's the other guy, Christopher Cross, give up. Rock guy. It's Salon. Yeah. Those are both things. Gage jump. I had been waiting for a truly great Gage jump start because he had been more interesting than great so far. I think he was great on Thursday night. Now it helps that it was a Mike Trout less angels lineup. But look, seven innings, one hit, seven strikeouts, three walks, no one runs aloud against any major league lineup is pretty good, especially for a pitching prospect that we all really liked and who has looked pretty interesting so far. And I think there's a lot to like about Gage jump. The four seamer slider and curveball all missed at least two bats in this one. He threw strikes at a decent rate and four hard hit balls on 14 bad ball events. So I think, yes, 67% strike rate. That's very, very good. That's a great rate. The zone rate was only 44%. 44%. I guess that's what it is. But, look, when you get, I mean, he threw the curveball 24 times, only 8% of them were in the zone. That's probably one, maybe two. And he got a 55% chase rate on that pitch. It was a 40% chase rate overall. That's really good. That's a sign that the hitters were not picking him up well. And I think that's going to be a thing for Gage jump because he's got that kind of deceptive lefty thing going on. In addition to throwing a fastball that you can dial up to 97, 98 miles an hour. So I think there's a lot going on with Gage jump. And finally getting that first great start. I think we're looking at him 61% rostered. I think you're at him pretty much anywhere. And honestly, I think you probably start him pretty much anywhere next week. It's the Giants in San Francisco. It's a good matchup, great place to pitch. I think I'm not saying Gage jump is a must start pitcher forever. But I think he's talented. I'm not. Don't put that on me yet. Come on Chris. I'm talented. Jump in the pool. Warm it up Chris. I think he should be rostered in all leagues. As with all situations like this, you might look at us and say, well, in my team, I have X, and like, okay, maybe you don't have to add him. Your specific team, the specific podcast coming for your team will be later on tonight. But in general, Gage jump should be rostered everywhere. He's a very talented pitcher who finally put together a great start. I was messing around with the rankings a little bit earlier and just trying to figure out where to put Gage jump after this start. I sandwiched him. He's right behind Roki Sasaki and JT Ginn. And he's just ahead of Mackenzie Gore, Connelly early Jared Jones. Yeah. I'd rather have him than Gore. Does that sound appropriate? Yeah. So, all right. So Gage jump inside the top 70 starting pitchers. And yeah, I think most roster, he's big prospect. Fastball looks good, deceptive, great matchup next week. Jump on in. Let's go. What I like most is like 67% strikes in this one, even though he walked three, but 68% overall. I mean, either way, that's 68% is Brian Wu, which is fourth among qualifiers. Like he's. And this guy who struggled with our strikes at times in his myelons at times at times, but I think at times he didn't, at times he looked like he was really in control and so far he's shown that in the majors. All right, Scott. Let's go over to you a much more obscure, much more widely available pitcher. Talk to me about Sean Burke. I mean, he was a guy who was not so available earlier this year. I don't think, right? I wasn't there a time because he got off to a great start in his roster rate spiked, but now it's down to 33%. Yeah. He was even better than Gage Jump here on Thursday. He did not start technically. He followed an opener, but he went seven in a third innings. Strike at eight. Closed out the game. He did. Yeah. He wasn't the starter. He was the closer, seven in a third innings. Strike outs, one run allowed 20 swinging strikes on 88 pitches, including nine on his fastball, which was up nearly two miles per hour. Other pitches were, other pitches were up to, but not quite as much as the fastball. And this seemed to be, he talked after the game about how he felt like he and the catcher developed a good game plan that was just attack the hitters, which makes sense given that he had issued a combined 10 walks in his previous two starts. He was clearly not attacking enough and no picture can really get away with walking five guys to start. So he ended up walking just the one in the seven in a third innings. And I don't know if it was just a mentality thing like attack kind of led him to throw harder, but he sustained that higher velocity over seven in a third innings. No, he didn't just sustain it. His last pitch was 99 miles an hour. He averaged 98 miles per hour in the ninth inning. I don't know where the heck that came from. It's average is 94. Yeah. So I don't know that like it's a game changer for Sean Burke. Obviously we have to see if he can do it again and probably he can. But I think it's worth pointing out just because of who he is, who's scheduled to face next time, which is Cleveland. Yep. Sans Jose Ramirez. And for the year they have the fourth few as run scored. I mean, they've been or I'm sorry, bad with him. Is it fourth fewest? Let me double check that. Yeah, fourth fewest run scored and that's mostly with Jose Ramirez. So without them, without him, probably the worst line up in baseball. And you know, it, I don't know if these games will stick, but I know he landed on something positive in this start. So with that match of coming up, I think Sean Burke is a pretty easy choice to stream next week. Yeah. I love it. I love everything that he did here, the velocity being up, all the whips that he had as well. Obviously was struggling mightily before this outing, but very eye opening to go into Yankee Stadium. Do that against an Aaron judgeless Yankee team, but they have been hitting the ball without Aaron judge. So I think pretty impressive all around there for Sean Burke. Let's, let's just stick with all the waiver wire pitchers here. And I'll talk about Sean Monaya, who is solid at the Phillies, five and a third innings, three runs, two earned five strikeouts, 16 whips on 95 pitches in this one, 11 on the sweeper. And he uses sinker and his cutter more. He uses four scene fast ball. less. I think that's a really good idea. His fastball got hit hard in this one. It's been getting hit pretty hard all season long. And the sinker, the cutter just induced softer contact so far this season. And his sweeper was just outstanding. Again, 11 whips on that pitch in this one. He has made two starts in a row. He had a couple of bulk relief appearances before that as well. But over his last two starts, it's been two run runs in each. He's gone over five innings in each of those as well. He's 27% rostered. He's a spark for those who play in points leagues. Gets the cubs next week. They are pretty good against left hand to pitching. But I'm a little intrigued the way that Sean Meniah is trending up, changing the pitch, make sweep or looking really good. I might, hmm, would you guys take a shot on Sean Meniah or Sean Burke? It's it's kind of close for me. What do you guys think? I think I'd go Meniah just because we have more of a track record of success there. But I mean, this was such an outlier for Sean Burke in terms of velocity that it I'm open to just, you know, Meniah, we have the track record basically to point to of 2024 at the second half when he lowered his arm slot and was really, really good for like three months. But it's not like it's such a long track record that I can say with any amount of confidence that he's going to be good. So if you wanted to go with Burke ahead of him, I think that's fine. If what what Burke did on Thursday might hit at more upside than Meniah, it's just, it's basically one start where he's done something interesting. And I've never really been particularly interested in Burke before this. I think you kind of have to know your league. I mean, Sean Meniah just, there's some encouraging signs we talked about in his last start when he threw six shut out innings. And then, you know, he comes back and gets 11 whist on the sweeper. But it's not like it was the overall stat line was the sort that's going to attract much interest on the way overwire. And you know, since Sean Burke has that great matchup coming up immediately, I think, I think, I think, and mostly because you could probably, you know, add Sean Meniah to your scout team, let's say. And but if you're looking for somebody to pick up for next week, I think Burke is the better choice. All right, let's, I've got two other waiver wire pictures here. I'll just rope these guys in as well. Shane Boz took a tough loss, quality start at the Mariners seven innings three runs nine strikeouts 13 whiffs on 99 pitches here for him 73% rostered. So only out there in some shallower formats. The matchup next week is just primo here. He gets the angels in LA. No mic trout. So that instantly vaults to one of the best matchups in baseball right now. And then Shane drawing continues to do some interesting things. Five innings one run three strikeouts here against the guardians. He used his four seam his slider and his curve a little bit more in this one. And those are his three best pitches. So sometimes just don't overthink it, right? Like throw your best pitches. And that's what Shane drawing did here. And overall, he's looked pretty good so far to think of you a ton of volume. And I do wonder if he'll remain in the rotation. What's brain of Woodrow for turns? Well, brainless burp probably comes out before him, right? I would think so. And he left with an injury the other day too. So I think that that does make a lot of sense there. I think gauge jump is clearly ahead of all these four. But how would you guys rank Bos Maniah Burke and Shane drawing? Well, I obviously like Burke for next week. You point out you make a good point with with trout being down that Bos also has a good matchup. Bos I've noticed with him and it may have something to do with the hand didness because I remember you brought up a point related to the sinker with the hand didness earlier Chris. So maybe you can comment on that. But I've noticed four of his last five starts Shane Shane Bos has thrown his sinker less than 10% of the time. It was 3% of the time in this one. And those four starts where he's thrown where he's basically ditched the sinker have all been great, including this one on Thursday. The one where he did it was his last time out he threw 20% of the time. And that was the one that wasn't so great. And so I wonder if he's landed on something there or if it just is luck of the opponent having to do with the hand didness. What was it related to the hand didness that you do? He's just throwing it a lot more against Rides in particular. And so in this one he only threw it three times. He only had 22 of his 99 pitches against Rides today. So he basically never throws it against lefties when he throws it. It's about 20 to 25% of the time against Rides. And that's continued. Even over the past five starts it's been right around 20% maybe 25% when he faces Rides and then 0% of the time against lefties. So I wonder splits against lefties. I mean the lefties have hit him pretty hard. I don't know. That's that's that's weird. So if you think for the last five starts he's hardly thrown the sinker at all. Are those lefty loaded lineups then? Well, hopefully not because lefties have crushed him. There's I don't know. I don't know what's going on there. But maybe the simplest way to put it is over his last five starts is been really good. One little misstep and it wasn't like it was a total disaster even. So with that angels lineup coming up I think Shane Bos is a fine choice to stream too. I still prefer Sean Burke for next week. So I will say Burke Bos, Manaya and Drowin. I do like Drowin but I like him more conceptually than Yeah, I agree with that. In terms of like how how useful he is at the moment. He's another one for this cow team I would say. All right, before we hit our first break, Scott's week 14 sleepers and two star pitchers will be live on the site here on Friday. Our FBT Express episode previewing week 14 will be out this Saturday. So make sure to check all of that out this weekend. Let's take a break and we'll be back right after this. For all the red brios get up brox sampler now that we have listed is our eye at the ulfail. What's on street for God use God to walk a tour of God. Welcome back in fantasy baseball today. Let's hit the news and notes and Bobby with junior left Thursday night with a right knee injury after making a sliding stop on defense. He finished out the inning on defense. He did not take his next at bat after the game. He went for additional testing. Please be okay. We have had a lot of early round injuries, especially lately over the past month or so. Bobby with junior one of the best in the game. And it looked a little bit scary. I didn't like it. It didn't look good. I didn't like I'm surprised to hurt. He stayed in it all because you know, he dove and he kind of jammed his knee into the ground and then he like, like he went and he just kind of like while laying down on the ground, he kind of just like dribbled the ball back to the mound and like it looked like he was in real pain there. So yeah, that one glimmer of hope is that well they didn't take him out right away because like, you know, a lot of the injuries they wouldn't be able to put weight on it at all. So, but I think part of it might be they might defer to him because remember he had that the knee injury what last week last weekend and resist ended up playing through it. And so, you know, it could be that they defer to him and how he feels and then you know, he kind of came to and realized this is actually I'm not optimistic. I'm just looking for glimmers, glimmers of hope there because we really, we really don't want to lose another. I mean, it's been judge. It's been Aconia. It's been Jose Ramirez. It's been Ellie Taylor Cruz. It's been we're still waiting for Lendor. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's been a rough one. Yeah. For sure. Out of nowhere, Mike Trout was placed in the aisle with a right handstring strain and he is hopeful that it'll be it will be a short stint and stated that his concern level is quote, pretty low. Christian Moore was recalled. He's 23 years old first round pickback in 2024 and he was actually performing really well at AAA hitting 333 nine homers 10 steals OPS over a thousand of the walk rate way up to strike out rate way down. Definitely tooled up. He's 8% rostered. He started this game in the outfield. He played nine games in left field this season down in the minor. So I think he'll gain outfield eligibility. Do you guys have any deeply interest in Christian Moore? Yeah. I'm interested by those plate discipline gains, especially because we knew we had power. We knew we had speed. He seemed like a guy who got, you know, he it was drafted into the organization that's most inclined to rush prospects and then he got off to a blistering start. And so I feel like he he he did him he actually did himself no favors by doing that because he wound up getting promoted to before it was really ready and it didn't go well. So to seek growth there at AAA this year, you know, I'm reacting in real time to you pointing this out because it wasn't something that was on my radar today. But I can't help but feel like it could matter, it could matter, I think. and deeper route of leagues, it's worth, it's worth a look. - All right, again, that name is Christian Moore. So check them out in some of your deeper leagues. Francisco Lindor will begin a rehab assignment at AA on Friday. He's been out since late April with a strain left calf. Try Turner left early after taking a pitch off of his right calf. Josh Chisholm left early after fouling a ball off of his groin and I really hope he was wearing a cup. - Chirren seemed like he was. - No, it did not seem that way. - I hope he's okay. - Some of these guys are crazy not wearing a cup. - You know, I was talking to someone earlier today about this after saying that and when I used to play hockey, I was used to play hockey. I used to play hockey. That was my main. - The one kid in South Florida who plays hockey. - Yeah, playing roller hockey outside in like 95 degree weather. - Oh my goodness. - And I was a goalie for a little while. Golly's fun, except when you don't wear your cup, which I didn't occasionally. - Oh no, don't do that, kids. - No, no. - But, you know, I hope he's okay, man. - Yeah, hope so. Adley Rutchman left early after getting hit in the head on a throw to first base when he was running down the line. So we'll check to see if he's in the lineup on Friday. Julio Rodriguez was out of the lineup Thursday after leaving Wednesday with a hamstring spasm sticking with the Mariners. Josh Nailer was back in the lineup after missing two games with a bruise shin and a sore wrist. Also Luke Rayleigh is expected to return to the lineup on Friday. Mick Abel is lined up to start this weekend at the D-Backs. He is 54% rostered. The last two starts, we saw from Abel in the majors before going on the aisle. 13 shutout innings, 16 strikeouts to three walks. Is Mick Abel a. What's that? - I'd put him right there at gauge jump personally. I think so. Maybe even higher. - I'd probably put him higher. - He, we do not have a long track record of success with Mick Abel. He's a former first round pick who mostly stunk in his mind and really career was not very good last year, but since spring training, he's just been awesome. And it was, it's only six starts total plus whatever he did in spring training, but his velocity was actually up at AAA despite coming back, it was a no-bow strain, right? Or a forearm? - That sounds right. - Yeah. So that's a concern certainly, but his velocity was up during his couple of rehab starts and he looked really good. He looked like he'd figured it out after the first couple of starts of the season. So it's a very small sample size, but he's a super talented pitcher. I do think he needs to be basically 100% rostered. - All right, again, that's Mick Abel. So you guys are saying Abel had a gauge jump. I think I would put him right behind jump, but ahead of those other names, like Connolly Early and Mackenzie Gore and Jared Jones, I think I prefer jump, but it is really close between those two. - To me, it's like when in doubt, go with the better batmissor. And I think Abel's an order of magnitude better as a batmissor than jump. It's not just superficial difference in that. Area, I mean, better batmissing ability means better upside. And it's not like we were disappointed in what Abel was doing before going on the aisle. We were very encouraged. - Yeah. - So, you know, it'll take a starter too to figure out if that's the right call. Abel over jump and they both really need to be picked up, honestly. But yeah, that's why I prefer Abel. - Yeah, definitely putting Abel ahead of the other names. We talked about Baws and Drowin and that whole group that we mentioned earlier. Michael Garcia has missed two straight with left hand soreness. Ryan Jeffers began taking dry swings last week. He's working his way back from a left hand-made bone fracture. He suffered on May 20th. Quint Priester will have thoracic outlet compression surgery on Monday and is expected to be sidelined eight to 10 months. Kind of felt like it was trending this way all along. He's been, you know, dealing with symptoms often on since spring training, really. Anthony Santander. - I saw some questioning why he waited and tried to go through the rehab process rather than having the surgery early. If you look at the timetable, getting this done in March or April versus now, it doesn't really change anything for him. - And it's a major surgery. Like if you try to avoid it, I get it. - You can avoid it. Like it's a potentially career-altering surgery. And if he's ready for next year, he'll be ready for next year now or close to it. And that's not really going to change if he had the surgery in April. So it's the kind of surgery you should absolutely try to avoid if you can. It just, it did always feel like we were heading this direction. - Anthony Santander could resume hitting within the next week he underwent surgery to repair the labor in his left shoulder back in February. Manager John Schneider said Santander could be a factor by August. He's 5% rostered. Don't think we need to add him yet. I have no idea what he's going to look like. If the power is going to be, you know, sapped, you know, that does happen to a lot of guys coming back from a shoulder injury. But I think, you know, once we get into mid-July and if we start to hear encouraging reports, like I think that will be the time to maybe stash Santander. - Yeah, it needs, there needs to be something more than just he's coming back. I mean, he hit 175 with a 565 OPS for the time he was healthy last year. And I just, I don't have any confidence in how he's going to perform, but, you know, 44-home or guy in 2024. So it's, it's, if the surgery fixed what was ailing him and he gets back to being that, we should see signs of it on his rehab assignment. - All right, Scottie, your bravos, big old deal here. They acquired Joey Bart from the Pirates in exchange for Hunter Stratton. He'll be the backup catcher behind Drake Baldwin. Good news for Andy Rodriguez on the Pirate side of things because I do think, you know, there was a little bit of question about, you know, who would get the reps at catcher for the Pirates, but Andy Rodriguez has been hitting well. And I do think that he has earned more playing time with the team. According to John Heyman, the Tigers are seeking controllable pitching and athletic position players close to Big League Ready in return for Tarek's Google. So let's just get this out of the way. One of the Dodgers is going to give up for Tarek's Google, right? And it's Ian, James Tibbs. - River Ryan for sure. - Yeah, but he's an older prospect, right? - Yeah. - 27. - Pretty old. - He's pretty old. - Yeah, no, I mean, right, you don't see many prospects that still qualify as prospects at 27, but like, it's not like he doesn't, it's not like he's so old that, you know, he won't be worth acquiring. I mean, he's got years of production left if he's healthy. - Do you think half a, well, not even half, like two months of Tarek's Google is worth more than like Emmett Sheen and James Tibbs, or do you think it takes more than that? - I mean, the Dodgers have so much they can offer. I hesitate to even put specific names on it because like-- - Right, so much redundancy. - They have five great outfield prospects. I may be forgetting one even. It may be more like six. - Joe's way to Paula and, who's I here hope, Mike Soroda. - Mike Soroda. - Geez, man. - Unbelievable. - Unbelievable stuff. So being a little facetious, but I do think the Dodgers are the leader in the clubhouse to go out and trade for Tarek's Google. - Do the Dodgers are the leader in the clubhouse for every good player who's on the market? Let's be real. - So Scott, if someone else trades for Tarek's Google, are we gonna get the tweet? What does it say about the Dodgers that they didn't trade for Tarek's Google? I know that was here. What does it say about Tarek's Google that the Dodgers say? - Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. - What does it say about Tarek's Google? - Yeah, yeah. - Yeah. - So prospect updates, Guardians Prospect Cooper Ingle went for for for for with a triple dong for RBI at AAA here on Thursday. I think they're just not calling them up yet because they don't know where to play him. He's a catcher prospect who has played four games in the outfield. I don't think that they trust his outfield defense. And if you look at the Guardians, they have Kalman's Ardo and Reese Hoskins for first base in DH. I mean, not that, you know, Reese Hoskins is doing anything, but they really value catcher defense. - Yeah. - So that's my line of thinking. I think it's like, they just don't know where to play Cooper Ingle right now. So that's why the admin called them up. - Yeah. - I feel like Cooper Ingle is the sort of prospect that the Guardians have routinely passed over. Fumbled the bag on those guys. The bat first catcher, like Chris was saying, they want an Austin hedges behind the plate. - Oh gosh. - I mean, yeah. - You're not wrong, you're not wrong. - But yeah. - Yeah. So unless they are convinced Cooper Ingle, Cooper Ingle, thank you. I think it Cooper Pratt, that's not right. - Yeah, unless they're convinced Cooper Ingle can handle the outfield. Yeah, I don't. I wouldn't hold our breath on that one. - Or just pull the plug on Reese Hoskins and play him a game. - Yeah. I mean, what more needs to be seen there? It's not like it's a big financial commitment. - Just pull the plug. - Yeah. And Yankees infield prospect, George Lombard Jr. was placed on the ILA AAA with sprained fingers on his left hand. He got off to a great start at AA. He was promoted to AAA. He struggled at first, but over his last 20 games or so, he was really picking things up at AAA. So kind of sets him back a little bit, but I think there's a chance. Like August or September, we could see George Lombard Jr. up with the Yankees. We got some big bounce back starts here. here on Thursday, Brian. Woo! Up against the Orioles, seven shout out innings with nine strikeouts. He had 12 whiffs on 89 pitches last time out against the Baltimore Orioles. He got rocked. So this start was at home. He does have very drastic home road splits so far this season. Chris, what did you see here from Brian Will? It's just frustrating how kind of inconsistency has been this season. - Yeah. I think I said it after his last bad start. I don't really see any reason to be concerned about and Brian will. I know the ERA is only just now getting under four. That is frustrating. Everything looks fine though. On a pitch level, on a peripheral level, I don't really see any reason to be concerned about Brian will. I think he's just had a handful of bad starts and that 308 fit. I think the XERA is right around 330. I don't see any reason to be concerned about Brian will move forward. If there's still any kind of chance to trade low for him, I'm taking that chance. - All right, Parker Messick was coming off his worst start of the season. And he had a great one here at the Brewers six innings, two runs, nine strikeouts, which ties a career high. He had 13 whiffs on 96 pitches. His velocity was up crazy across the board. Scott, what did you see here from Parker Messick? Nice sign that he completed six innings as well. We haven't seen that in a while. - Yeah, that was just the second time in his last 11 starts that he had gone at least six. - Although he'd gotten real close three times. - He had come in the previous five. - He starts, he's gotten five and two thirds. - He is the master of the five and two thirds man. - When your, when quality starts counts for something, which is true and certainly the CBS points for Matt. Close isn't good enough. I'm not saying you can't be a useful pitcher in fantasy. If you're going less than six innings consistently, but it's hard to be that impactful when your start so that short. So, second time in 11 and 1 and 6 plus, he said they made some adjustments to his delivery prior to this start. We kind of got back to what we were doing. The first couple months of the season, everything was coming out a little sharper today. He said, now I don't think he was throwing as hard as this. The first couple months of the season. So it doesn't totally explain it, but. - I mean, it is a good explanation for it. - Okay. - He had seven days off between starts. - Yeah. - His last start I think was on the 11th. So that's a, that could explain a lot of it. - Yeah. - Could. - Yeah. - But I do like that he's not resting on his laurels there. - Sure. - After, you know, it felt like the shine had worn off a little bit on Messick. There's still a lot to like there. Yeah. Sticking with the bounce backs, Treya Savage gave up two home runs late, but overall a strong outing here at the Red Sox. - Oh yeah. - Seven and a third innings, three runs, six strike outs, zero walks, two, as I mentioned, two home runs allowed. 16 whiffs on 95 pitches here. Chris, what do you see from Treya Savage? I mean, the control. I mean, it feels like the biggest thing for him. - Yeah, you dropped that sound by it now. It's like, what? - Oh, yeah, Savage. - Yes. - He actually didn't throw that many pitches in the zone. It was only a 41% zone rate, but he did get a 40% chase rate in this start. So that explains some of it. I mean, I think a lot of it's always gonna be he's gotta get chases. You know, he's gonna work out of the zone. He's gotta find a way to get chases. That's not always gonna be whiffs. It's gonna be weak contact in theory. But for the most part, the slider and splitter have been very good this season. The foreseeable seems to have taken a little bit of a step back, but I don't see anything to concerning the XERA still, I think three 10 or something. So I, this is another guy I don't really have any concerns about. I know it's been a bit of a rocky start. Obviously the control, especially a few times lately, has been really bad, but for the most part, I think it's just things he needs to iron out, but nothing that needs, nothing that suggests he won't be a very good pitcher moving forward. I haven't really moved Treyas Savage down my rankings very much at all. It looks like from what we saw from last year, I mean, he came up and how did it go? He threw like, his first start in the majors was like, it wasn't a no hitter technically. I know because he didn't go the distance, but didn't he allow no hits in his first major league start and then his first playoff start, no hits and, his first playoff start was no hits. His first regular real start, he allowed three hits, struck out nine. It was like he looked really dominant is the point. And he looked like the sort of pitcher who could like if he was going to lose, it's because he beat himself. And he does that pretty often. That control can be shaky at times, six walks, seven walks. We've seen both of those recently in a start from Treyas Savage, but when he's not beating himself, that splitter and the slider both, like there isn't much hitters can do with them. And so it was nice to see him not beat himself in this one. I think there's a lot of reason to be optimistic, like Chris is saying for Treyas Savage, it's not, even when even at the darkest with those high walk totals, I wasn't ready to move on from a meter. He's 70% started on CBS Treyas Savage. We're talking about, I assume we get him back in there. If anyone had benched him two starts next week against the Ashows and the Rangers. - Yep. - Pretty easy call. - Yep, I would start him there. - All right, in the last name here, we have Ryan Weathers with a nice bounce back against the White Sox, six and a third, one run, eight strikeouts and this one, 14 whiffs on 88 pitches. Scout, what'd you see here from Ryan Weathers? Are we getting him back in the lineup at the Tigers at the Red Sox next week? - Well, I mean, two start week for a pitcher who just did what he did. I think it would be hard to pass that up. I was worried given, he was on a pretty rough stretch before then, Ryan Weathers. And we've seen the highs, we've seen the lows. He's capable of missing a lot of bats, like he did in this start. I think because the matchups next week are trying to remember what they are. Yeah, Detroit and Boston, like both, Boston says, is the worst lineup in baseball in terms of run scored right now, they've dropped to the bottom. And the Tigers have been rough all season as far as that goes. They are 24th and run scored. So, bounce back start, great matchups. I think it's a must and I think it's gonna tell us a lot about Ryan Weathers because I know last time we talked about him, we were kind of starting to view him in the same light as McKinsey Gore, where okay, we know there's potential here to miss a lot of bats, but it's just too volatile. And I'm not sure that the juices weren't the squeeze anymore. So if he can turn this into a good run with these two favorable matchups coming up, okay, I think maybe Weathers is back on board with Weathers as somebody who needs to be a must-roster. But as it is, I like him for next week. I will say this though, hope he has two good starts and you get that in your lineup and that's great. If he does, I think you try to trade him. Max Freed is starting to ramp up. I think Ryan Weathers is gonna be out of the rotation when Max Freed's out of the way. Maybe they go with a six-man rotation for a while. They're gonna have to handle Rodon and Cole obviously coming back from surgery. Cole is such a creature of habit though. Like he doesn't like anything to throw off his schedule. He's like very particular about that. So it's a possibility, but I would probably lean towards him sticking with it. But also they have to limit Weathers innings. Yeah, and he hasn't thrown 100 innings, I think since 2023 or 2023, yeah, 2023, I think. So like that's an issue as well. So I do think Ryan Weathers is likely to have not very much value in the second half of the season at some point. So thank you, you try to move him. - It's also very likely that something happens to the Yankees rotation between now and then just 'cause their pitchers are so brittle. But yeah, no, it's a good point. If he is able to take advantage of these next two matchups to the point that his stock is soaring again and nothing's gone wrong with the rest of the Yankee staff, hopefully by that point, it's not imminent that Max Fried has returning. And so it's like nobody's gonna want to listen on Weathers. But as long as that's not the case, it might be a good time to trade him at that point. - And Fried has started throwing, but he hasn't started still a way to catch him yet. - Yeah. - Yeah. - Two rookie bats I want to quickly ask about trying to snap out of slumps here on Thursday. Travis Pazana went one for three with two walks in his fifth home run. Previous 14 games before this one. He was hitting 132 with one homer and a sub 500 OPS. Carson Benj, three for five with his 11th stolen base. Previous nine games before this one hitting 162, a 441 OPS during that stretch. Chris, anything concerning with these two, Pazana, Benj, or is this just the ups and downs of a baseball season, the ups and downs of eight? the rookie season. The one thing with Bench, I think from a skill standpoint, I feel very good about him. I guess the one question I have moving forward is if Lindor is back next week, and I think that seems likely. Maybe not exactly next week, but maybe the start of the following week, right? Next 10 days, let's say. Where's Bench gonna be hitting in this lineup? 'Cause now that Beshed is hot, I don't think they're dropping him. You know, maybe they drop him to, maybe it's Benchlandor Soto Beshed, right? Maybe that's the top. - I think something like that. - But Bench, it's either top two, or are they gonna hit him third or fourth? That doesn't seem like it makes a lot of sense. So he's been pretty good out of the lead off spot. So I could see Benchland, Bench Soto Lindor Beshed, I think would make sense. - It could be. That's the one thing I would say is he could move down in the lineup, but that's not a guarantee. That's not a reason to drop him certainly. I don't think it's a reason to trade him. But Zana quality context pretty bad. 88.6 miles per hour average ex-vilosied. It's not terrible, but it started out good. But since May 31st, 86. Last 50 played appearance is 266 expected, Woeba. That's especially low for a guy who is still drawing a lot of walks. So yeah, there's a little bit of reason to be concerned here, but he's still running a decent amount. You're still getting a lead off hitter guy with a decent lineup spot at least. And their lineup is just so bad. - It's a bad lineup, but it's still decent volume. - Yeah. - So I still think Bazon is a starting caliber second basement, but maybe it's not the true impact guy we thought he was right away. - All right, let's take our final break. When we return, we've got three up, three down, rankings, risers and followers. We'll talk about those right after this. (upbeat music) - What's the point of this? Autovacutus Fennia's. Now it's 20% more than the average. Tutustutarioxen, Fennia is the biggest auto-vacutus ever. Tuleva is the best. Fennia. Three up, three down. Let's talk rankings, risers and followers. And Scott, we will start with you. Who's a riser from this week you wanna talk about? - I want to talk about Jackson Chewry. - Oh no! - Okay, I want to talk about Jackson Chewry. - We did not talk about this before, man. - We were supposed to do, not to tell each other. - Yeah. - I got to talk about Jackson Chewry. I'll find someone else. - Well, all right, so the problem is, if you look at the volume of his rise, it's gonna be pretty underwhelming, 'cause I think I had Jackson Chewry o' 9th or 10th at the outfield, and now he's sixth. So that's not a huge jump thing. - But for me, baby. - Okay. Julio. - Yeah, how do Julio? - In-- - I had of the injured guys too, I assume. Akunya and Judge, yeah. - Yeah, there's, yeah. - Since they're both gonna be out until August, and I'll like, - Well, Akunya might be back in late July, but it's gonna be a while, it's gonna be a while. - It's gonna be a while. - Cheerio just, it looks like he leveled up, and that's what we've been waiting for from him. A lot of the talk about Cheerio, the first couple of seasons is, for a guy who's supposed to be super told up, he actually doesn't hit the ball that hard. Average X of velocity was right around 89 miles an hour last season, quality of contact, the expected woe woe was right around average. Well, this year, everything looks borderline elite. He's leveled up to a 92 mile per hour average, Average X of velocity. Hard hit rate is up to 48%, expected woe bond contact, 445. All of that is career best. There's been a slight increase in strikeout rate, but even that over the past few games has actually come back down. He's only at 23.7% strikeout rate. So, I just think we're seeing Jackson Cheerio become the player he was always supposed to be. I don't know if I buy it as a 920 OPS the rest of the season, but I buy it as a real step forward for Cheerio and maybe that settles in as a 290 hitting legit, maybe 25 to 30 home or guy, although I know he's on an even higher pace than that right now. And still, a lot of steals, he hasn't actually been running lately, but that's 'cause everything's been extra based hits lately. So, I'm not too worried about that. And I think the walk rates up a little bit too. So, it just looks like everything's gotten better for Jackson Cheerio, which is what you should expect for a 22 year old. We have all these underlying stats and all that stuff. And that's great, but when you look at X of velocity and all that stuff, it all works under the assumption that talent is static. And we know that's not the case. We know that players get better as they enter their 20s. Maybe the peak, you know, when I started this job, I think the peak was 27 to 29. Now maybe it's 24 to 27. Well, Jackson Cheerio is still not there. He's still on the upward trajectory. So, this was one of the best hitting prospects in baseball, made his debut days after his 20th birthday. And I think we're just seeing the actual big step forward from him. And might be another step beyond this, given how young he is. All right, Scott, let's go over to you, a non-Jackson Cheerio, riser. All right, Zach Gelloff, let's, we've talked about him a lot lately. Let's talk about specifics. Let's talk about where he should actually rank. And I've got him all the way up to 16th at second base, which puts him ahead of Sam Mintonacci. He puts him ahead of Cedán Rafaelo, Jose Caballero, Brian Roqueo, who's cooled off. It's one spot behind Jose Altuve, who I guess I could call a faller, 'cause I got him down to 14th now. And I think Gelloff is, there's reason for skepticism still, but there are obvious improvements here from him that I think justify legitimate enthusiasm. Power speed threat, we saw that going back to his rookie year, but it's been more usable now because the strikeout rates down to 25%. The pull air rate is good, so he's getting, obviously he's converting his ex-velacity actual power. I think he's, you got that triple eligibility, so I got him 18th at third base, that's right around like Matt Chapman and Josh Young. I've got him in the top 40 in the outfield, which is actually the weakest of those three positions probably. So that puts him right behind Dalen Lyle and Carson Binge. I can't imagine a rodeo league right now with the extra middle end field spot, corner ends field, field spot, the extra two outfield spots. I can't imagine not starting Gelloff in that format right now. And so now my ranking reflects that. I don't necessarily disagree with where you rank him. I have him ranked in very similar spots, at least in rodeo. I don't really, you know, point to the guy, I think he's still pretty mediocre player, but boy, I'd be trying really hard to trade that Gelloff 'cause this is one where the actual production and the underlying stats are way off. He's having the best stretch of his career certainly since 2023, maybe ever. He had another hit today, so I think it's a 21 game heading streak. And his last 100 played appearances, his expected boba is 252. The quality of contact metrics have not been very good lately. And I think eventually it will catch up to him. I think it's fine to keep playing the hot hand here, but he has a 477 boba in the month of June. He is hitting 357. He is slugging 714 entering play on Thursday with an 86 mile an hour average ex-philosity. Boy, I think this is gonna end poorly at some point. I'm fine, rank, I have him ranked in a similar spot. It's 15 or 16 at second base, but I wanna leave someone else holding the bag at some point on Zach Gelloff 'cause I think this is gonna end. I mean, it's how rostered is even. I just don't know that it's, I just don't know that-- - He's up to 73%. - I don't think he's achieved a stature. - Sure. - Where he really qualifies as a sell-haw. - Okay. - 'Cause it's not like people are banging down the door for Zach Gelloff, it's like, huh, who's this Zach Gelloff guy? Do I need to pick him? Like I feel like that's where we are with it. - Sure, if you can't get anything for him, that's fine. But I just, yeah. I think this is gonna end with him not being very good. - Yeah, I mean, it doesn't hurt to just throw some feelers out there and try. - For the year, his average ex Velocity is 89. This is respectable. - And his average bat speed and fast swing rate are both way up. - Sure. - So the strikeout rate way down and average bat speed is almost 74 miles per hour, it's really fast bat. I don't know. I, there's reason for skepticism. I'm only-- only ranking him 16th at second base, not in the top 10. Because it could go wrong and whatever we move on, he's only the 16th best second base man. But I think this might be a miss for stat cast. I think, I think there is enough reason for optimism here that I'm not just going to lean on the expected stats with Gell off. Okay. I will point out that the six games that he played in the Las Vegas ballpark, he went absolutely ballistic. He went three four hit three 46 with three homers and an 1178 opus. So that that does help out the overall numbers quite a bit. And to my knowledge, they will not be playing any other games in that Vegas ballpark the rest of this season. So still pretty crazy that they played actual nature league games in that ballpark. Ryzer for me here is Bryce Miller. I moved them up to sp 34. I was tempted to push him inside my top 25, which I think that was a little bit more than two year responsible. So I haven't done that yet, but everything has looked so good so far. The K to walk the velocity being up for Bryce Miller. He looks like he is back to the pitcher. He was two years ago when he finished as a top 12 starting pitcher in fantasy that season. Great ballpark to pitch in the one kind of drawback is this whole like piggyback thing that's going on with the Mariners, but apparently they're going to cycle through all of them. It's not just going to be Bryce Miller who is getting piggybacked. Of course, because I pumped him up here, he pitches on Friday, he will absolutely get rocked. I know what's going to happen. So there is Bryce Miller an honorable mention to read debtmers and Dustin May who I moved just outside my top 50 starting pitchers. So they're in that range. I think they're like mustar pitchers right now. Debtmers and Dustin May, two of the hottest pitchers in all baseball right now. Scott, let's go over to you for a faller. I hope you don't steal Chris's guy again. We'll see. Minor in the rundown. So. I state my claims first. My flag has been planted. Faller, I got to go with Michael King here. Yeah, that's one of the ones I considered. Yeah, I moved him down about 20 spots at starting pitcher. It was about 25th. Now he's about 45th. And the reasons, I mean, I'm sure if you have Michael King, you know why it's been, it's been rough lately. Last five starts, he has a 641 ERA 146 whip. And then the most telling stat of all, I think 4.7 K per nine. My gosh. For the year, it's now a 450 XERA. This number's accurate for 50. Yeah, it's over four, both the expected ERA, the FIP, not showing much bad missing ability. Like he was earlier this year, like he has for most of his time with the Padres. Walk rate is closing in on four per nine. It's actually a 474 XERA. I didn't have the most updated number. Yikes. That's compared to a 360 ERA. So they're just like, and it may just be a rough patch for King, but I don't, it's so bad. It's so bad in every way over this five starts stretch from a guy who's spent most of last year injured and it's not like he had a long established track record before then. I'm quickly losing faith in him. And you know, I don't know. I look at where I have him now 45, even though that's just a 20 spot decrease, even though that's a 20 spot decrease here just now happening. I'm not sure it's enough. You know, I still have him ahead of Kyle Bradish, who obviously was great yesterday. I still have him ahead of Redepers. Yeah, I probably could stand and move him down a couple more spots. All right, Chris, over to you. I think this is a really good name because we have not talked about him at all, but he has really, really fallen off the face of the earth. Well, yeah, one thing that happens, I was talking about this the other day with someone. The best thing a player can do for their perception in fantasy baseball is have an awesome first month of the season or an awesome September. Those are the two times that stick and Chandler Simpson had an awesome eight. He was hitting 314 at the end of April. He looked for for all the world like he was going to prove everyone wrong that this profile could work. And I don't think he belongs in the majors right now. I know he's been playing through some injuries. He had a thumb thing that he's been playing through. There was something before that as well. He asked the explanation, but this dude has not stolen a base since May 11th. I believe he's gotten caught five times since then. He hasn't even attempted a steal in the month of June. He hasn't been playing. He has a 221 OPS in the month of June. It's unfortunate because Chandler Simpson is a really fun player when it's working and I was rooting for him. I would love it if a guy like Chandler Simpson could make it work, but there's just zero juice in this bat. And I don't care how much contact you make. I don't care how much power or how much speed you have. You can't thrive at the majorly level with an 83 mile per hour average X velocity, especially if you are not a good bunter, which he has not been so far in his career. So he doesn't have that in his tools shed. He doesn't really walk. He's too aggressive. I don't think it's working. He's been a bad base runner for most of the season at this point. He has actually been a phenomenal defender, which is maybe the one reason the race haven't totally given up on him. But I don't know. I think Chandler Simpson might be heading to AAA at some point. We've already seen them do it with him. The fact that he's gotten so much better defensively, I think we'll make it tough because that was why he got sent down last time. And gosh, his range went from 11th percentile last year to 96th percentile. The thing is, I think it was on fan graphs. There are a couple of weeks ago. There was a piece on his improved defense. It's still an adventure out there. He still doesn't look totally comfortable. He's just, he's making better reads. He's getting to the ball. The athleticism is obviously incredible. But he just, there is no pop in this bat. He doesn't walk and I just, for fans, he can't steal bases. There's not. And then there's that for fantasy. He's not giving us any steals. So what is Chandler Simpson doing? He has a bunch of caught stealing this season as well. Yeah, he's 11 for 14 for 22 or 14 and a 14 out of 20 which seems unfathomable with how fast he is. It's like who is actually catching this guy on the bases? I mean, that's, that's the thing though, it's not just about speed. Yeah. Trosh Naylor. So yeah, I, I think there's a real chance Chandler Simpson gets sent down. I think in point leagues, he's completely droppable and in roto, he's doing a lot more harm than good right now. If he's not the best base stealer baseball, I don't really see what he brings to the table. Again, that was Chandler Simpson. We were just talking about how quickly mentioned two followers for me and some big names here. Mani Machado, I have down to my eighth ranked third baseman and I think we're one more good week away. Good week from Boba Shet away from him leapfrogging Mani Machado as well. Machado getting up there in age and there is nothing redeeming in the underlying numbers as well for Machado and Kyle Tucker, I moved down to my 13th ranked outfielder. I think he's going to be better. He's too talented to be this bad and he's in the best lineup in all of baseball. But the guys that have moved ahead of him have just been so ridiculously good this season. I think that they have earned that Jordan Walker, Byron Bucston, Cody Belinger has been really really good this season as well. Not as good as some of those other guys, but just names I think have earned the right to move ahead of Kyle Tucker. So I have moved him down a little bit. I don't know if you guys have thought about it with Machado or Tucker. Definitely. Yeah. I've moved Tucker down a little bit, not as aggressively as I think most people would like, but yeah, there's not much to be optimistic about here except that he's Kyle Tucker. But even then he hasn't really been Kyle Tucker since the first half, first two months of last year. Yeah. So we're going on a year now and it was easy to write it off as the hand injury that he played through last year, but it's a lot harder to do that now. Yeah. I think it's reasonable to move him down. I think I wanted to just quickly mention here was Vlad Jr. sound the alarm. So he hit a home run. It was his fourth home run of the season and his first home run in over a month. The last time Vlad hit a home run was May 17th. He only has four on the season. Players with more home runs this year. Lane Thomas, Drew Romo, Josh Lowe, who has been in the minor since May 21st. Jonah Heim. I mean, I think you get the point I'm going here going with here for Vlad Jr. Look, he has track record. I totally get that. I moved him down to my fifth ranked first baseman. I thought about moving him down to like eight behind Alonzo and Freddie Freeman and Miguel Vargas. Just guys have been really, really good all year and especially over the past month. I mean, we've been here with Vladimir Guerrero before though. Four hundred if we've ever been four home runs is it's bad. It's not literally here, but. There was a pretty bad home run drought in the first half last year too. Like it's just he and Tatees, it's the most extreme. version for Dr. Tuttis is the most extreme version of what ails them, but it's the same thing that's always ailed them. It's the same reason why they always underperform their expected stats. They just don't. Glad to worse the angle. He had a stretch of 71 games, almost exactly at this point in the 2024 season where he only had six homers. He did have a 332, Woba at that point, right now. It's 317. So yeah, you're not wrong that he's had similar stretches before, but this is the worst one for sure. This is the worst one, but it's the same symptoms were familiar with. I think it's the sort of thing. When you're doing rest of season rankings, the longer a player is underachieving, the more you want to move him down, but it's my observation that if the skill set is still intact, a lot of times a very lengthy down swing will be followed by a very quick upswing. Yes, yes. And it doesn't follow. It's like a logical fallacy. But it does seem to happen a lot. It's the sort of sport where regression always wins at the end. For that to happen, a lot of times it means it happens all at once. And we kind of saw that with Guerrero in the second half last year. And I think we're going to see it again. So I'm going to keep the faith on him in him. Over under 19 and a half homeruns by the end of the season. Is that for right now? I think you have to take the over still. So why are you moving him down if he's got that much juice left? That's a 30 plus homer pace. The rest of the way though. If he hits 16 home runs from now until the end of the season, that's still, I mean, it's okay. That's like a 35 homer pace. They've got about 90 games left. I don't know. You moved him down to 50. I said, I moved him down to fourth. I've got him fifth. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I just contemplated moving him lower. And it's, you know, it's guys that are really good too. It's like Freeman has been really good. And for a long time, Pete Alonzo has looked like himself over the past month. So it's you moved him behind you moved him behind Freeman? No, no, I moved him behind Harper Ben Rice Olsen. And yeah, okay. So I've got a behind Kurtz Rice Olsen. Yeah. I still have him ahead of Harper Guerrero. Yeah, I mean, we're not. I guess maybe, you know, a lot of people will look at that and say, well, why have you only moved him down that far? And that's why. Like I think, I think Vladimir Guerrero is still Vladimir Guerrero. And he just hasn't produced like Vladimir Guerrero for the past two months. But again, these are rest of season rankings. These aren't where does he rank based on his production right now? It's what he's going to do rest of season. And so if he's still Vladimir Guerrero, I still expect him to perform like Vladimir Guerrero from today forward. And you know, obviously, you don't want to sell him short if that's the case. But I think I'd take the under on 19 and a half homers, even if he just gets to his numbers from last year, which again, that would mean he hits 19 more homeruns the rest of the way by end of season, 23 homeruns and bad counting stats. It's just, it's not going to compare to what these other stud first baseman are doing. It's just not. But it's today forward that we're doing. It's worth pointing out though. That's what we're ranking for. We were ranking him a lot higher than he actually deserved based on what he did last season. Well, that's that's a good point to the postseason kind of helped him. Yeah. Well, I think that's a an important thing to keep in mind is we usually don't do that. You know, we usually don't give players extra credit for the postseason. In his case, it's because we know what he's capable of. But you know, I do think it's possible we messed up there. He was the number six first baseman last season. Like, and that also had a down year and he was better than Vlad for fantasy last year. I mean, that's why I didn't draft him anywhere. It's like I ranked him that way out of the respective like I know what his talent level could be. And he showed it in the postseason. But I mentioned it all off season. I'm like, he doesn't do that in the regular season enough. He just doesn't do it consistently. Even though I know he has that talent in him, it's just really, really frustrating player. He might just be more like a fourth round pick than a second round pick. Yeah. Again, that was glad to like, we've got to wrap things up just because like the year you do that is when he's going to, you know, hit three, three 30 with 30 homers again. Yeah, it's very possible. Three, three 30s that you get, you get my point. Three 20s. Gonna have one of those better. Three 23 in in 2024. I mean, it wasn't that long ago. Let's quickly run through the rest of Thursday's action. I have one lonely waiver wire hitter. Can I interest any of you guys in Andrew Bedentendi, who over his last 16 games is hitting 283 with six homers and an OPS over a thousand. I'm good. I mean, you could maybe stream them at some point, but it doesn't look like the white sucks have the right matchups for next week. Yeah, they've got a bunch of good right handed pitcher or bad right handed pitchers coming up. Maybe, but I don't think he's very good. All right, hey, real quick, Jack Caglione hit his ninth home run and he continues this massive June here. 84% rostered. He's out there in a few leagues. I'm sure he's probably more available on Yahoo. Kind of feels like Caglione just needs to be rostered everywhere. How hot he is. And he pretty much is at this point. Yep. Salvador Perez, a big game here. Three for five with his 10th home run. Now holds the record for the most career home runs in Kaufman Stadium passing George Brett. He is I kind of feel like it's it's happening, right? Like this is officially the decline for Salvador press. The the my art reaction is happening. We're getting a nice seer. Maybe he's not all the way cooked. It's like rare right now. It's like a blue steak, but yeah, I think we're I think I think he's on the grill for sure. All right, Tyler Sotashrim has quietly been pretty good for a while now. He had his 13th home run last 23 games. He's sitting 342 with eight homers, 17 RBI and OPS over 1100 during that stretch. Underlying numbers don't technically buy it. Buy what he's done during this recent stretch. Any thoughts here on Tyler Sotashrim? Yeah, I think he's fine. I think he's mostly fine, but we are going to have to keep in our heads. That Vegas series is just kind of because like I saw the down the I saw the A's line. I was like, man, everybody's got no PS over 800. It was like one of the best lines in baseball. I was like, oh, yeah, they hit like 15 home runs in six games or whatever it was. Might have been more. Might have been like 18 homers. So, you know, there's some. That's just keep that in mind. We got some slight signs of life from these two George Springer last seven games. He's hitting 333 with two homers and three steals and Luke Keishel last five games. He has six hits, one homer, five runs and a steal. Any thoughts on George Springer and Luke Keishel? Very small samples. I mean, the only number I really care about for George Springer is average bat speed and fast-wing percentage. I guess that's two numbers. But if those get back to where they were last year, then I'm excited. If they don't, then I think he's pretty fringe, even if he is hot. So, you know, I need I need a larger sample than this to come to that conclusion. And Keishel, he has a long way to go to win back by faith. Yep, Keishel down 71% roster and that number probably could even be a little bit lower there for Luke Keishel. Some other leftovers, Joe Ryan, solid outing at the Rangers five shutout innings with seven strikeouts for him. Sunny Gray, a quality start against the blue J7 innings three runs for strikeouts. He's been solid just all around. A couple hitters, one, Soto, two for four with a double-dong. Last eight games, he's got four homers eight runs eight RBI and Shay Bangalore's another one hit his 19th home run at three RBI and he just continues to get better each season. He is now on pace for 40 homeruns this season. Again, that's Shay Langalere's and he thoughts Chris on Langalore's Soto, Sunny Gray and Joe Ryan. Once a number one outfielder in fantasy. I think he doesn't actually rank that way, but that's how I rank him. Battle of attrition. He's the last one. Last one not hurt. Yeah, he's awesome. The steals aren't there. That's the one thing, which we were skeptical that they would be, but we were hopeful and he's got six of them. So it is worth keeping his 30 in the second half last year or something like that. So it's possible. But I don't think you can expect that. I think he's back to not really being a base seal anymore. He won't get to a full seasons worth of games because he missed so much time. But his full season pace right now would be 47 homers in 16 seals. That would be pretty awesome. Three straight seasons of 40 homers. Three straight seasons of setting in new career high as well. If you get that. That's um this is what wants Soto and his prime looks like, folks. Sure does. Really, really. really good call to the bullpen for the blue jays louis harland was unavailable lefty mason flu hardy got the ninth and he picked up his first save of the season for the guardians katesmith got the final four outs he walked to he struck out to and picked up his 24th save for the mariners andress munoz picked up his 12th save and for the match steven Williams got the ninth with a three run lead he allowed a run on a walk and two hits but picked up his 11th save of the season to stream or not to stream on friday we have kate kavali at the raise griffin jacks against the nationals land in roop at the marlins randy vasskas at the rangers micima grivi at the royals bubba channeler at the rockies Jeffrey springs against the angels know my trout and conner pre-lipp at the defects i think group is fine with that matchup i think i agree with you what you say i like kavali why does Tampa rank so high in terms of run scored i was looking at their line of today and other than the top three hitters well yandida has jonathan aronda and jr. common arrow doesn't look very good they are below average and runs per game i guess they are down to 18th okay they've dropped up for them it feels like they have slowed down a lot lately yeah that makes sense that makes sense and matches up with what i'm seeing personnel wise last three yeah that kavali is fine last 30 days for Tampa Bay their 25th and well they walk a lot migrivy it migrivy at Kansas City so my top choice is probably migrivy and then kavali and then roop i think those are all fine on saturday we have Troy meltoning it's the white socks collen ray against the blue jays walker bueller at the rangers Trevor mcdonald at the marlins joey cantillo at the ashrows Trevor rogers at the dodgers wolf zack gallon against the twins yeah one of these guys is going to have a good start but i don't have any faith in any of them i'm going to pass hi if i had to choose one i think Trevor mcdonald at the marlins yeah i just i don't think he's very good i i know melton the results have mostly been good but the white socks are not really a matchup you should be targeting and i and he missed the one i start with a back injury too yeah yeah yeah i don't i don't like any of these guys all right it is it appears scott is avoiding the question so i think that tells you everything you need to know as well on the god on sunday we have robber gasser at the braves and your alvarez at the raise slates acony at the ashrows kaiway tang against the guardians i know he's been bad but i'm just i'm gonna bring up anybody against the guardians right now steven colic against the cardinals rindelson against the twins jack perkins against the angels so you're three best streamers for the weekend are on friday yeah i i could see a good jack perkins star but i could also see four innings you know i i don't i don't know have any faith in that um i'd probably say colic or rindelson on sunday because it tells us the best too and they're better than anybody on saturday but they're not great all right we're gonna wrap it up for scott and chris i and frank takes us always for tuning into fantasy baseball today please make sure to follow and leave a five star rating on apple or spotify and we'll be back again next week bye bye what's the mission this is a manhunt killer capture the critically acclaimed series the agency is back streaming June 21st on paramount plus we got him all i'm smoked out starring michael fastbender the agency is cleaning house Jeffrey Wright received a caution jody turn her smith you had not the good guys and Richard gear just not what i ever made the agency all episodes streaming June 21st only on paramount plus
