Happy October Task Force! The Halloween season is upon us and we are celebrating in so many different ways this month that we wanted to theme the movie clubs around what sets the tone properly for you guys. So both movie clubs this month have been voted on by you and starting up we have the original The Evil Dead. It's available today right now exclusively at redwebpod.com and then later this month we're changing the vibe entirely. We're going to Halloween Town. But without further ado here is a sneak peek of today's episode. Deep in the woods an unseen entity glides through a hazy marsh before coming to a halt at the top of a hill overlooking a back road where a car filled with five Michigan State University students passes by. Inside the car are Ash Williams, his girlfriend Linda, Scotty, Scotty's girlfriend Shelly, and Ash's younger sister Cheryl. All anxious after hours of driving to reach a cabin they rented for the weekend. After a while, they're in a car and they're in a car and they're in a car and they're in a car and they're in a car and they're in a car and they're in a car and they're in a car and they're in a car and After hours of driving to reach a cabin they rented for the weekend. After hours of driving to reach a cabin after a close call with an oncoming truck the Oldsmobile turns off the main road. It carefully crosses an old bridge on which the car is briefly stuck after driving over a plank of rotten wood before finally arriving at the cabin. So many excellent moments to turn around dude. So many great moments of let's go home guys. Yeah I just I couldn't help but have the thought of like this is quintessential white people horror stuff that's happening. Oh my god. Yep. Just keep checking forward. It's like absolutely not. And you know what maybe that's where I lack the empathy uh Michigan State students. A boiler up please. Can I get a boiler up in the comments? Boiler up. Bro that's Purdue. Get over it. And then that Oldsmobile which makes an appearance on I think every movie he does. Oh. Uh he directs. Oh my god you're right. There's a whole scene about that in Rise. Yeah. Oh. That's so cool. Yeah. He puts it in every horror movie. It was in Ultima for some madness. It was in Spider-Man movies. Yeah. I love little easter eggs like that. Well because um I want to blank on the character that plays Ash. The actor that plays Ash. Bruce Campbell. Bruce Campbell. They were like friends growing up. Yeah. And there's like pictures of them like riding around the car and everything. And that's why Cassidy's like well I'm gonna shoot this movie that I wrote if you want to just star in it. And he was like I guess sure. Yeah absolutely. And that's how it that's how it happened. And the rest was history. Yeah. He was a little uh rough around the edges as an actor in this movie for sure. Which it didn't need it didn't need tremendous acting to be fair. But he's certainly grown into it. He's he's really solid now. Oh yeah he definitely grew into it. But I mean great for just starting off and you know your friend being like I wrote this movie you want to be in it. This is pretty gnarly. Yeah. And that's why he also cameos in a lot of movies too. He saw him cameo in Spider-Man. When he's like punching himself for the whole movie or something. Yeah. He's like I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. Yeah. And then he was the uh the person that checked in Peter at the restaurant. He's a Peter Becker. It's his little campiness. It does it does well in a lot of different scenarios for sure. As the group unpacks their car before nightfall Cheryl sits alone in the cabin's living room drawing an old clock on the wall across the room. Suddenly the clock freezes and a deep voice beckons for her to join us from the nearby cellar below. Her hand begins to tremble and move on its own drawing a strange rectangular shape with a ghoulish face on her sketch pad. When night finally arrives the group is gathered for dinner in the cabin's small kitchen when the cellar's door suddenly flies open on its own. Ash and Scotty venture below to see what opened the door only to come across something far more interesting. Tucked away on a desk in the corner of the cellar is a tape recorder, a shotgun, a strange dagger, and an old book with a cover that resembles a face. Hmm. Ash and Scotty gather up the items and head back upstairs to show the girls. Dude talk about more white people horror nonsense. The cellar door flies open and they go let me go and poke my head down. You know what? We should go down there. Must have been one of them drafts. Absolutely not dude. Hell no. And the first dude's gone. He goes down he's quiet for like five minutes. They're like oh what happened? Ash's like you know what I'll pop my head down there and check on him real quick. Yeah don't worry we only brought one flashlight here take this lantern that we found. Come on. Oh geez. Also like this cabin's a dump. It's a hella dump. It's also got the world's biggest cellar. He's like going through an entire mine just to find Scotty at some point. I was lost. I straight up thought the cellar was bigger than the cabin at first. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah uh big mustn't read from the book vibes you know we just covered the mummy um I also was like so thrown by the join us because what is said later I'll hold on to it but it's okay I'll just say it later on they're like why'd you wake us from our ancient slumber and I'm like bro you said join us so you should be a little happy that we woke you up from the dead gave you a couple of bodies go wandering around and get the moonlight kiss in your skin I'm getting mixed signals here yeah make up your damn mind you're like like you had corporeal powers on the car you're haunting the woods and then wait I thought you were asleep for ancient times so I'm again I'm again I'm getting mixed signals here but the newer movies lock that lore in a little more anyway
