I spun it too much. There's too much spin. It was a little bit of a problem. But today's show here, we're going to run through some of our top storylines of the week. Things we're looking forward to the most this past week. A few notes from being on site today, not a lot going on out here yet. I definitely feel like I'm here too early. Some of the best stuff we've heard in interviews so far, some kind of bigger picture, president's cup, president's cup stuff as well. I got some Twitter questions. We're going to make some picks as well on who's going to win. Maybe margin of victory might be a little bit more interesting there. Some studs, some duds, some top rookies, things of that nature. And a lot of little weird fun nuggets at the end as well. But I'm going to kick it to you first for top storylines for you heading into this president's cup. Yeah, I was just, I was researching all morning and guys, I got to say you know, I'm not the biggest president's cup fan. Not the most watched event for me personally. And that's fine. I feel like it's Scotty versus Wikipedia. And I see this as a bit of a resume builder. And I think it's interesting that what Scotty's record in team golf right now is not good. OK, so president's cup, he's three, five and one rider cup, he's three, six and three. But you know, and then you say, well, I mean, Phil, Tiger, and I have some of these stats of kind of, but when you start comparing him historically, like that team golf record. I think it's important as a resume builder. And I think it's an interesting little wrinkle with Scotty with him being kind of the undisputed best player in the world right now. Like this is starting to get up towards 10 mat, he'll be at 10 matches, you know, after Thursday. And are we going to flip this losing record in both of them? So right now is president's cup record. I had a graphic for Cody. It has him on par with like Graham Delette, Y.E. Yang, little above Kevin Kisner and Cory Pavan. That's where we're kind of living right there. So this is the, this is the rider cup ones flip over to the other graphic. I sent you Cody if you have it. This is the, the, the overall one. So I look, I was kind of like, all right, where did Tiger and Phil stand, right? Tiger Presidents Cup 27, 15 and one Phil 26, 16 and one overall, Phil, the highest point gitter. But those guys, the president's cup was, was, you know, 26, 16 and 13 Phil have 13. Sorry. Residents come at just that. This is remarkable. That's true. Excuse me. The overall, right? This is the, no. This is the good mind. There's no way, just president played in 55 Presidents come at him. He might have. I think he has. He played in a gabillion of them. This is the, sorry, this is the original graphic I was looking at. Is this the right one? This is the one I wanted. Okay. But I was going to move to the next one. I'm sorry. I guess the rust coming off here. I haven't been in the seat in a minute. But Sam Burns, three, three and three, and then you've got Keegan, four, three and one. And then you go down. I'm just kind of trying to find the Americans. I'm like, where does he stand kind of historically right now? Guys, this doesn't look like a great grouping of people for the best player in the world to be with, you know, kind of coming up on J. R. Gallagher. Is that Jim Gallagher Jr.? That's Jim Gallagher Jr. TC. That's exactly right. Is it heavy? So I just, and the Presidents Cup almost is a counterweight to the narrative that Tiger and Phil, you know, they have losing records in the Ryder Cup. If you go down the list, speed had is 13, five and one in the Presidents Cup, Jim Furek, 20, 10 and three. And so I was trying to find like the mod, I was focused on modern golfers. But where does he stand among like the, you know, the top of the, the creme de la creme of American golf over the last 20, 30 years? It stands out to me, right? It's early because I think Sky is going to play in a bunch of these. But I'm just, that's, that is a storyline for me. It's like, are we going to flip this to a winning record at least in the Presidents Cup? Because the Ryder Cup is crazy. You start going down the list, Tiger and the Ryder Cup, 13, 21 and three. Not great. Phil, 18, 22 and one. Then I started asking myself, I don't want to make this a Ryder Cup segment. But like, who has a good record, America, who has a winning record on the American side in, in kind of the modern era, since I've been alive, let's say, you've got Dustin Johnson at 12 and 9, Patrick Reed, 7, 3 and 2, Justin Thomas, 9, 6, 2, Zach Johnson, T.C, 8, 7 and 2, Xander, 7 and 5, can't lay 6, 5 and 2. That's, that's what we're at right now on the Ryder Cup side. So I give him a little bit of a pass because it's, it's not, it doesn't look very good on the American side for, from a Ryder Cup standpoint. But man, the president's cup, Scotty, we got a, we got to, we got to fix this, man. We got to, we got to flip that wins and loss record. And I know it's not, he's not getting in the hall of fame unless he flips his president's cup. It's a fun thing to track. I mean, it might be the only blemish right now that we can see, right? With, with kind of Scotty's resume. So that to me is a, like, what am I going to be watching? I kind of want to see how Scotty shows up this week. That's interesting to me. I think it has happened enough in these events that it is to your point, like, it's a storyline coming in. There's been enough times where Scotty's just no showed these events that you're like, Oh, like, do you have it? You didn't cry. You started crying. You know, like, it just feels like a thing to me. I'm like, is he going to ever be good in these? Like, I don't know. Let's find out. If, if, if he doesn't do very well against this international team in a home president's cup, then it's, let's, we'll sound the panic alarm comes Sunday night, I think. This is going to be a pretty good opportunity to do some stat padding this week. I think. And that's what I'm looking at. All right. Solid stat padding is like, I mean, even the, the, the great tiger fill, they were all able to pad their stats here. The fact that you can't even, he's not even doing that is, it's alarming a little bit. Like, come on, man. You got a problem with me, say, referring to it as this international team T.C. Or something. I don't. Okay. I don't. That's kind of my, my theme was going to be like the golf course, like Medina reintroducing itself. So I'm Medina. The course is great. We'll get to you talking about your first look at the renovated one being out there today. Solid. My thing is just like, man, like this whole, this whole event every single time, it just feels like a bad dessert. Like you're full, like we're full from the, the, you know, from a big dinner, from a big season of golf. And not only do we have this team event, it's a four day team event. And we've got five matches tomorrow or, or sorry, five matches on Thursday, five matches on Friday. Like, there's not that much golf going on out there on Thursday and Friday. I remember being there at Muir Field Village way, way back when it rained and rained and rained. You were in the corporate tents that week. I was. You mean, Randy, we're in the rain. Yeah. And I just remember thinking like, man, where's all the golf? And there's the PGA tour website for this thing. There's no information on it. Like this whole thing just feels like a total incomplete ad-- Roll up hasn't gotten there yet. We're going to get there. It's on my list of things to get to, guys. Roll up has not touched the president's cup yet. You can kind of tell. I just feel like the-- I feel like with all the change that we've had, the biggest theme this week, coming out this week is going to be like, man, we need to fix this thing. This thing is clearly broken. And Ogle V's T's dad did a little bit, which will get to some of those quotes and saying, hey, we need more wherewithal and autonomy over the international team, who's eligible, all of that stuff. But it just feels like we need to inject some life into this thing and quickly. I sent you guys a graphic earlier. I was on the president's cup website. And I was trying to figure out, like, when do they play ForSums? But OK, so it's 5 matches, Thursday 5. And it is a Q&A section. And it says, Thursday will be ForSums or 4 Ball. And then the next day will be the opposite. I'm like, well, why do I not know that? Are they going to announce, like, why wouldn't you just tell me what they're playing, which I found very, very funny. Yeah, this is it. And then it's the next FAQ is like, what is ForSums versus 4 Ball? And we will tell you, would we figure that part out? Yeah, I'm like, OK. So the fact that we don't even know-- And then this has 4 Ball Thursdays. OK, so it's 4 Ball Thursday. Great. But then there's 30 points available, not 28. So it's just like slightly different than the Ryder Cup. And I think it used to be what, 34 solid. And then they changed that in 2015. It used to be-- and then they were like, well, the depth of the international team is really on display. The more points you put out there, let's limit some of it. It has brought the international's in closer in some of the more recent cups. But it is five sessions in the early going instead of 4, like it is in the Ryder Cup, less strategy that kind of goes into kind of more personal who you're benching is, who you're actually sitting out when you only got to set out 2 versus 4. But I think there are a couple of things. I feel like I've done enough President's Cup shows now at this point in weeks where it's like, I've come in every year to this, just shitting all over it and just like ready to dismiss all of it. And like, there is a lot to address on the competition front in this event. And I think this week has the potential to make that part of it worse. But there's still a lot I do love about this event. I think there's like, it's a worthwhile event overall in terms of like content and just things of interest happening. You get the night night stuff from Seewoo and Tom Kim. You get the guys bitching about gimmies. You get Patrick Reed's catty pushing a fan. You just get like, there's always stuff that happens in the President's Cup that is worth breaking down. And I like how they do the pairings and how they, you know, they go one by one, match by match, there's a lot more strategy that goes into that and just kind of submitting it blind. And I think the Ryder Cup should go just separating out Thursday and Friday as well. Like I just think that makes for a less condensed week, less super early mornings, tough, you know, it's just a little easier to digest the earlier part of this week than I think Ryder Cup we can be. So that's my storyline is there's always something, man. The guys are going to give us something. It is not the liveliest bunch of people. It's not the liveliest rivalry. But I don't know, you got Scotty and Tom Kim barking at each other after they made those two putts back to back in Montreal. Like it just, there's always, there's always something that happens on Arbonne La Heary, you know, doing the point when his team was down like 14 to two, Daniel Berger saying, I hope we beat the breaks off of him even worse tomorrow after they all celebrate two early Saturday night. Like I'm still like pro president's cup. I just think there's some things we got to fix. But we can focus on that in a different day, I think. - And believe me, we will. Like I am excited about the golf course. I think the golf course is going to be interesting and we'll get into some of the individual players too 'cause I think there's some misconceptions about certain guys that like I was expecting to pull this up and see young Tom Kim's record be better than it is. - It's all about three and five on that graphic I showed T.C. - Three, five and one, you know? - Yeah, not good, not good at all. - So at least he like brings the performative nature of it. Like I kind of don't care what his record is. He brings the big moments and has brought us shitload of energy and I mean, they're, yeah, it's still, I don't know. - Talking about partners. - What? - You guys are crazy, Solid. - What? - We're giving him the poopy on the potty because he brings big moments. - Well, yeah, like who if his partner's been, like he goes up against fucking Scotty Shepard? - He's a one and just single. - It didn't help. Neil led without thinking Scotty's been. - Yeah, but still he's the best player in the world still. Like, who are you more excited to watch this week? Tom Kim or Christian Poseidon? Like, let's be honest. - That's kind of a killer, man. - He's been a giant killer. He has three one and one. - Entertainment product. Yes, he gets a poo, yeah. Who do you, who are you more excited to watch this week? Bridgeman or Tom Kim? - Oh, I don't know. - I, I, I, I'm not legally able to answer that. - I mean, Tom Kim, that's fair. - Yeah. - My lawyers are telling me. - Tom Kim understands the assignment of this event. - I mean, if Ryan and Ron was in this event, it would have been a different story, okay. - Sure, what had changed the entire, you know, JJ Spawn got absolutely snubbed guys. - Well, that was me into my, my story. - Well, real quick, real quick on the golf course, just that TC mentioned. So a few nuggets out there, it has rained a lot. It is, the rough is up through, I talked to Jim Fierrick a little bit about this. He said the roughs up significantly from what it was 12 days ago. Brent Snettaker had some comments. He said today I was very clear with our tour staff on how we wanted this place to try to get to, kind of eerily similar to what happened at Beth Page. It has not gone according to plan. So you can have a great plan in front of you, but Mother Nature throws a wrench in it, and there's some other factors you have to deal with, meaning that got a lot of rain, and it's soft. - Wow, I'm already providing excuses. - I still don't know that it rained as much at Beth Page as they keep referring to. I don't remember that being a thing coming into it. Well, that's a topic for another day, but it is soft out here. It is definitely, you know what I was not expecting by this golf course, you see? It is so grainy around the greens. Like super grainy. I was watching JT and Jackson Coivan and Russell Henley Chipp from behind 15 green and kind of experiment with the different lies and just, you know, going with that approach of just truly stubborn it, taking a divot and Russell Henley was hitting shots. Like what's on the screen right now is a bunch of like very significant, pretty innocent divots that JT was taking on not high speed chips from just long of that green and watching Henley kind of hit like more thin shots. A little bit, they were a little clickier sounding to make sure the club didn't dig. So that's something to monitor this week as well. There's a decent chance we see some flood chips around these greens. - Short grass, baby. And yeah, lots of options and creativity and everything, but Celia, I just can't, you know, the European tours at Lake Golf National this week and Jim Furek is the next, or the current U.S. President or Ryder Cup captain. I just, I still can't believe you brought Bryson Phil Tiger and Fino to Lake Golf National. You should feel great about that here. - Big tone did his part in that one. The other guys went completely, completely witness. And don't you, you're trying to get me worked up with this Bryson one, two events leading up into it, where they're gonna leave him at home. Phil never got left at home. Tiger just won the FedEx Cup the week before TC. We've been over this, we've litigated this. Jim got a, got dealt a tough hand in that one. Did they, it didn't, it didn't work out very well for the U.S., but I don't know how you, Phil was the one that they could definitely could have left at home there. But why are we talking about Lake Golf National right now? - TC is deflecting, 'cause that leads right into, I keep hearing the word depth. The international's don't have depth. And my, my natural question is like, why? Is there a reason? So I took a, kind of a peek at the captain's picture. And I wanted to see whether like live players not being, you know, this being a PGA for run event. Like, what are we missing here? Are there some, some obvious omissions? Maybe due to live or other things. Obviously my guy Keen is 25th on Data Golf. That's, that's a walking Neiman. He is definitely staring at you. Like, hey, that'd be nice to have, right? Lucas Herbert, another one. He's 48 on Data Golf. I think again, another guy you'd like to have. He see this surprised me, Mark Leishman, 73rd. The Data Golf rankings right now. He's way down the board on the OWGR. But probably maybe a veteran presence that you'd like to have. Neil, all these guys do is play team golf. And that's, that's kind of what I'm getting at. He's like, that is a factor here. And we're talking about how this is going to be a blowout. So lopsided in the US is one, you know, the last 10 of these. And I'm just like, man, it would be, it'd be nice if the international could field the best players. So you go down the list, Nick Taylor. I'm shocked this is his first, this is his debut presence cup. I was like, he's got three of them, you know, but he hasn't. 38. So he's 74th, bez is 75th. And then you've got Brandon Grace, Cam Smith at 79 and 80 on the Data Golf points list. Casey Jarvis, I was thinking he was kind of like, oh, maybe, you know, he had, he had a moment earlier this year. Like, why is he not on the team? He's 70 and OWGR, but he's 141 in Data Golf. That the trend line doesn't look great. So you start going out on this potgator. Jason Day is 114th potgators way, way down there in the 200s. Some, some kind of names that that I was thinking, like, oh, why did they take, you know, bez and not, you know, So my point being, I don't have a problem with that. these captains picked because I think they're handcuffed a little bit with like who's eligible. And that in some way, it's a shame. Um, and and also it just made me think that I always imagine that, uh, Australian golf should be deeper. You know, you've only got two Australians. Nobody coming up to the pipeline right now. Lucas Herbert, leash, Cam Smith, can't play. So that's part of this. But I'm like, I, in my head, I'm like, shouldn't there be like three or four Australians on this team? And there's not. And that just makes me scratch my head a little bit, which might be a conversation for a different day. Anyway, Jason, you got, yeah, you got Jason Daye hurt. Uh, Elvis smiley went to live. Yeah, I've got, uh, yeah, you got, you know, it was an eligible as well. Yeah, exactly. And then you got, you know, you got the Southern guards are not eligible. Obviously they're doing the Rhino jive. Who stays in short soul, Dean Bermister, Brandon Grace. Yeah. So it just kind of it, I would say, um, it nukes the debt that to me is what's new in your depth. Now, your top, you don't have a lot of top end speed here on this squad, either outside of Seawoo Kim. Uh, it doesn't, uh, and Hadecki, I would, I would put up there. But, um, yeah, not, not no offense to Ryan Fox, but I wouldn't say he's a, you know, international stalwart. And then Adam Scott is, you know, father time, but he's, what is this is 12th one. Um, so it's hard to talk myself into the international squad TC. And I was trying to, I was looking for reasons as to why that depth is not, um, not as deep as it should be. Yeah, it's not just a live problem. No, it's, it was a problem prior to live exacerbated a little bit more, uh, from live. Really, it's Neiman. I mean, Herbert would probably make this team as well, but it's hard to argue. He would be like a massive, uh, value over, you know, whoever the bottom of the barrel, uh, that they picked for this one. But it, again, you go back to like what the founding of this event was rushed and put together to beat IMG, who was trying to put stand up their own event. And there was, you know, VJ Singh, there was Ernie L's, there was all kind of, you know, Steve Elkington in that time period, there's Nick Price, there's all these massive international stars, getting them in a team event, made a ton of, ton more sense than it does like the debut appearance of Nick Taylor in this event. And, uh, yeah, we'll get, we'll get into a little bit more of that as well. But do you see what's next for you? Uh, can Cory Connors do anything? Can he make a putt? Can you win a match? Uh, just generally speaking, Cory Connors, you know, pop things you're looking forward to this thing. Yeah, it is because they have no chance of Cory Connors can't do anything. The Canadian Ash Brothers big spot for them. I mean, they must have the top guy, the top guys play over the, if, if Foxy and the Decky and Adam Scott and Seawoo show up, it's going to come down to the Canadians, man. I mean, you know, the Bash Brothers got to be playing together. Like, are they going to show up to you? See, I'm right there with you. Our eyes are on the Canadians. Cory Connors is two and seven in this event. Guys, that's fucking horrible. He's, he's one three and one in four sums. He's O three and O in four ball and he's one and one in singles. And no theatrics. Like, that's where I'll defend Tom Kim, at least your dancing out there, at least you're giving us some things to react to, to clip, to make fun of and talk about. Like you're, we are, we cannot be an NPC, Cory Connors, they'd go two and seven. And T.C., I see him as the swing votes here. We gotta have the Canadian show up. If, if you're beloved international squad's going to make any noise, we just, we have to have it. Yeah. And I, I would love nothing more than to see that because it's not like he makes the putts in regular week to week PGA tour events either. He, he ball strikes the shit out of it and then puts poorly. But I'd like to see the ball striking at least show up this week. So, and, and I just want to give right now, I'll give Mike, we're a shout out, 13 9 and, let's see, 13 9 and 2, you know, one of the rare international, like winning records, which is good stuff. So just, you know, it's the one of the Canadians a bone there because we're, we're, we're putting a bullseye on him right here. I'm a big Nick Taylor guy. I like Nick Taylor, even though he beat my guy Tommy in Toronto. I think Nick Taylor is a dog. I think Nick Taylor is going to be good in this setting and Sally fights for his life. Yeah. Anyway, you can take this phone call. Yeah. I'm just trying to try to move my guy over a little bit. Now chief, I'm in the zone. We can't hear a don't worry about it. I feel completely indifferent. How I feel about most of the international team. I just feel quite, quite a different about that. But it, it is a new, we got some exciting, some new blood in, it's a new chapter starting of American golf in this, in this president's cup. Yeah. So excited to see it. Some of that new blood I was mentioning, I'm really excited to watch Chris Goddard play match play. He had a, you know, a really good press conference this week. Just talked about, you know, you know, he's kind of viewed by some as being a little bit of a snub from the rider cup. He himself said, look, I kind of shot the bed in the playoffs. I didn't necessarily think I deserve to be picked. He feels like a little bit of a different player. This go around and feels like he's earned his way onto this team. And I like that situation kind of presenting itself the way it has. There's kind of no, no debate, no question whether he should be on this team. He is definitely one of the 12 best Americans. And it just kind of seems ready for that moment and ready for it to be a less nerve-wracking experience. I would imagine than it would have been to throw it into to that atmosphere at best page. So I he's the, you know, we're excited to see Coivan. I know and it's I think it's very cool that he is playing this event. But I think there's somebody that's really like ready, maybe ready to play five matches as well would be got her up. And I think he's going to be one of the guys. The US team potentially leans on the hardest and I'm very, very here for that potential dude. Yeah, potential. And I had Coivan on my list as a story. Can he can he rise the occasion? I mean, if if the J J spawn stuff is going to, you know, have any legs here on him getting snubbed, it would I think Coivan's going to get that heat versus got her up like you just said, sorry, like got her felt like, oh, that's a, you know, it's great resume this year. So that'll be interesting to see if the young buck makes any noise and how he handles it. Can I can I just get anyone that's doing the the J J spawn snub thing. It's one of the one of the worst revisionist history things I've seen in these teams. We haven't even gotten to the event yet, but they usually wait till afterwards of like, why didn't you pick this guy? Like no one was saying this when the right after he withdrew from the Torch Championship. And like wasn't he wasn't even one of the 12 best Americans over in the three months leading up to that moment. Like I thought it seemed like there was some communication issues with Brandt's Nettaker and J J spawn and J J did comment that he was led to believe that he was going to be on the team. That part, I'm not going to defend like that's not great off in the captaincy standpoint, but I think him being left off the team was very, very justified considering. I mean, I still think Ryan Gerard should have made it over over spawn and and there's a gap between him and his, you know, he wouldn't have been probably at the BMW PGA and had that opportunity to win last week if he was on the team and and it just is not in line with how the timeline of how these decisions get made. So I'm not saying that no, I know narrative. I'm just saying if the US comes out flat, they don't get off the bus and it's you know, it's a historic week with an international upset. Then I think that Coivans, I think the smokes coming his way versus somebody else. I, I, I, even if they lose this week, I refuse to start Sunday show with like, man, if they would have J J spawn, I think they could have, they could have beaten Christian. No, you'll be like, they should have brought speed. Why didn't they bring speed? I'll do that if you want me to. I'm on that note, I am curious to see how JT plays because JT is the one in my opinion that probably shouldn't be on the team, but he's the boys club pick on it and kind of the, we can do this again. He's like 10, 3 and 1 in these. I know, I know. He's, he's been better of the last three months than spawn was leading up into it. I don't see how that's a boys club thing. I think it's just, but I, well, I think Ryan Gerard should be on it instead of Justin Thomas. You know, you have in Justin Thomas for future, for future Ryder Cup, future presidents cups. It's, if this is such a, a mismatch of talent, let's, let's identify that being said, I think the, I, I, I can, I can get behind that, but I think the idea of JT Coivan pairing is like, are that's all about Alabama. There's some really good. I know we're going to get the pairings towards the end, but there's some really like, just clear pairings, like personality and storyline pairings for the US. Kind of fun one. and and JT Quavin is like a yeah, please give me the Alabama versus the world. That's good stuff. And I saw those two playing all shot today. JT was going off the even holes, Quavin going off off the odd holes. So I think it's fair to say we'll see that pairing on Friday. So and they play different golf balls, which is interesting. I asked JT about that. And he's the answer is pretty simple. He's just like you just play the other guy's ball off the tee. Like these guys aren't as concerned with the spin difference and field difference between ProV1 and ProV1X off the tee. And it's more about having the guy hitting the ball into the green using the right golf ball. And he just kind of dismissed that as a problem at all. So Well, sorry, which one is is it data or is it history? Which one matters more? The the current year data or the history of the guys right there? They're all factors that you consider in there. I think it paints a picture and it leads to telling you a story of what golfers you should trust the best. If I may shout out as well, I know you're not a Scouts Consulting fan T.C. But Shane Shane Ryan had a great interview with Jason Aquino just talking about like media narratives in team play and versus reality. It's like 10 10 things 10 questions in there. I would shout that out on golf digest. That was just an interesting read in general. Yeah. Oh, he's scoutsing. They're not doing anything for this this year as the my understanding that that is correct. Yes. Okay. Interesting. I thought that was just a media narrative that they'd been kicked kicked to the curve. Who said that? Who said that? My speaking of like interesting pairings, this is the first time that there's been a fellow Japanese player on the team with Hideki. So Rio and Hideki missed one another. Like Rio was on the two before Hideki. And then Hideki's been on a bunch of everything from 2013 onward. Really Chicago you're saying? Really Chicago. Yeah. And I think that if we're looking at places to lay blame for the lack of depth, the president's cup international side, I would look at Japan because outside of Hideki, there really hasn't been a whole lot. There's been nothing coming through over the last decade. And so I am very excited to see Hitsatsune because he is he's 23 years old. He played really, really well first half of this season and should start to play better again the second half of the season. And I think I don't know. It's not just that they don't have depth. They're not much much youth either. You've got four guys on this team in their 20s. You've got Hitsatsune, you've got Tom Kim, Sungjae and Min Woo. Those are the only four guys in their 20s. So I think, I don't know, it'll be interesting to see if they if they pair up Hitsatsune and Matsuyama together. God, nothing come out of Japan despite TC's best efforts with the Kano Naya. It's just all the names. TC's tried to make. He's all of his boys that he's tried to lay claim to Sally and for him to admit that is big. It stinks. All the more reason to make this a mixed event, which is not going to turn them out like crazy on the women's side. They've totally caught and I would argue surpassed Korea on the women's side. I think that's very fair. Final storyline. We all see it. We've been dancing around it here for 30 plus men. The margin. The margin gap between these two teams, I think has set us up for something that's going to be interesting either way. Do you somehow lose this one? I think they're minus 400 favorites. It's going to make for an all time just beat down from a media standpoint. It's going to be the easiest show we ever do on Sunday night. I think that's something great to look forward to. And if they blow them out and destroy them again and go to like 14 1 and 1 in the history of this event with a new CEO and a new commissioner here to hopefully help them reimagine this event. Like get it over the line. Like the only thing that would be not uninteresting would be just kind of a marginal victory or kind of an uninteresting victory kind of like kind of like the last couple have been. And that's, but I think either way, I think this is probably headed towards the blowout. And I think that makes for just how long can we do this? How long can we keep going with one of the most lopsided rivalries in sports history? So it would this be a kind of like the miracle on ice. The international team pulled this off. I think that was longer hot than this. I don't know for me. I know we're getting a movie and a documentary about this. But no, I mean, I'm good. Data golf isn't like a 16% chance or something like that to win. That's that's that's not nothing. I mean, on paper, it's just, it just doesn't feel like they have a chance. I'm sorry. We're playing on grass though. We're not playing on paper. That's a good point. Well, well, it's that DC. That's a good point. All right. Just, yeah, a couple of other quick notes just from some things I saw out there today. The groupings on the US side can't lay zander Scotty and burns were out in the first group. Not a lot of energy in that one. I hated seeing all four of those guys walk past a couple kids, you know, that we're looking for some autographs in between 14 and 15. That was, it was just just just low energy out of that one. The day was saved by Wyndham Clark in the next group. He was the only one that went up and was signing, taking pictures and just like the first guy that looked like he was having fun out there. It was Wyndham, more a cow, got her up in young. Got DC Wyndham, Wyndham and Colin together. That's got to be the top of your big board. Just two, two guys. I would love it. I kind of want to see Wyndham versus Tom Kim and just just make that a make that arrival real week. Get them chirping at each other. I think Goddorp and Young could make for a lot of a lot of fun. That was one of those pairings. It's like kind of obvious on paper for sure. The other one like Bridgeman and Henley is like the people might even know are those guys pros, you know, like just blending in with like they're definitely getting paired together. I think I think so. And yeah, you don't, it's hard to, I think Goddorp Young will make a lot of sense for four ball. I don't know what they're going to do. I don't know enough about the golf balls either, but like Goddorp's only one that plays the bridge stone ball. And I know you can, I just mentioned you can, you can kind of put whatever ball and play you one off any particular tee, but that would be I think a little bit different going across brands. I would, I would think I would imagine somebody like JT is at least flirted, you know, with the Provi won and Quavins, at least flirted with Provi won X and played a little bit with it. But I don't know what's going to happen exactly with Goddorp in force him, just kind of him being the only, the only bridge stone guy, but I feel like he's got that kind of tee at high, let it fly like the high launch low spin, which is similar to what cams got as well. Possibly. So, uh, Goddorp, he can't lay Xander Scotty Burns, uh, for some is just like, it's like an ETF or something. Yeah, it's unfortunately again, make sense. And probably certainly what we're going to see, but it just like, it's hard to get up for that, uh, in terms of, you know, that's, that's, there's nothing new about about any of that. And then the Scotty Burns pairing is just not meshed the way that the US has really needed, uh, when they need it to. So, like I got, I look, it's looking like they're at least going to keep drawing that one. So, uh, JT upset about some of the trees that were taken out out there at Madonna. I, I didn't hear him mention that, uh, T.C. I don't know if we got to know. Okay. Question there, T.C. Well, he's been chirping at Pebble Beach about the tree that they took out in front of 16. Okay. Well, yeah, it's, it's, it's different, probably a little different situation. Um, Jackson Koyman did not look pleased with how he was hitting it. Just kind of looked a little, little frustrated. Just, again, I did a small sample size of seeing that, but, uh, just kind of shaking his head to just not, not high vibes, uh, out of him from a little bit that I watched of him. Um, the, I mean, Jacob Bridgman almost aced 16, which is, I think, first of all, I think we need to be very committed to just talk, just using tournament routing this entire week, not trying to pretend. Yes. Uh, just not mixing up what the actual holes are. Uh, on the real routing, it will get very confused very quickly, but part three over water. You may remember it as the second hole, previously, uh, at the rider cup, but he almost aced that one and almost nobody applauded. It was just a, it was a weird vibe out there. I don't know what, uh, was the weather good today? Yeah, it was fine. It was a little cool, like cool and windy, but in overcast. I mean, it didn't make for the best, best light out there. There's not that many people out here, um, on a Tuesday, but it was just, was awkward. I was kind of surprised with, um, I mean, it's an old, old golf course, but just how awkward some of the T's are in terms of like where these pro T's are fit, like a couple of times you're hitting over other T boxes. I got to five T and I couldn't even tell where the hole was because like you're hitting back a little bit over four green and, you know, seven, it's at the one back in the corner, Sally, it goes back towards the other part five. Yes, or no, I don't know if it's part five or not. It's where I, it's where I, uh, I think six, no, six is a part five, six and three are part fives. But five's a part four that kind of goes back, but it didn't look like a golf hole from that T. Like, I did literally stood on that T and look where they were aiming. I'm like, I do not see the golf hole here. So that was, I don't think it's going to really affect a lot of the viewing, but there's going to be, I did see there were two T's set up on the sixth hole, the part five, like they, like, it's over 600 yards from the way back and it looks like they can play that one from farther up. They want to, or they were at least signaling that they were planning to move it up for at least one, one session in there. Oh, I'm seeing. All right. So yeah, two, two's in the corner, three's coming out of the corner, and then yeah, five plays over. four green, which four is one of the coolest holes out there, like it's that hole is freaking awesome. I would stand on that tee and watch guys. Like that'll be a very decisive spot, especially if they move that tee around. And then yeah, five, certainly an awkward one. It kind of goes up and over that that crest of that hill there. A little bit more of a connector hole. And then you get you get back down to six. But yeah, it's definitely when you're playing the regular member tease, it feels like, Oh, this is like, you know exactly where you're going. I think to to find a little bit more distance and versatility, they definitely tucked some in there. Sally, I know maybe you don't have a ton of experience with the traditional routing, but does this routing make sense? The way they changed it. It does for crowd flow, right? And that just the big like the the golf starts on one side of the lake. And you know, there's only a couple bridges that move over there. And then we'll get, I think it's 12 is the new short four that goes across the water. And then you come right back. You play right back across on 13. And then you tee back across on on 14 again. Like it will be a little tough to navigate in that part. But a lot of the golf is happening if you're looking at this image on here on the bottom at the bottom of the screen in the early matches. And instead of, you know, kind of starting on one side coming back over, it just makes it a little bit more simple. And yeah, the build out around one's awesome. Like it's it's a it's a scene. It's a vibe. I know Quail Hollow was tough, just because it was so freaking hot still in Charlotte and it was just basking in the sun. I don't think we're going to get scorching hot here. And it's going to be a it's going to be a fun fun environment around that first team. So Sally, having been to Medina previously, having played it several times previously. What was your? And then like having talked to cocking two weeks ago, like what was your big takeaway from? You know, it is a in my leading up to all of this, I'm picturing a firm and fast golf course, you know, I'm picturing a golf course kind of defined by the wind and and and and how much that's going to bring slopes alive. And I just hope we get a little bit more dried out in that because the way I look at it now, like some of that OB that comes in on those first three holes, there's OB right down the left and you're kind of playing near that. It looks a lot more intimidating when the fairways are going to our firm. And if you get a ball going left, it's not going to stop. And now it's kind of you look at the hole and you're like, oh, you'd have to really pump one way left to get one out right now is is where I'm hoping we get to see the Medina that we are hoping to see out of this. And I don't know how much if they're going to void rain from here until Thursday, it'll be a more enjoyable watch than what I think it was out there currently. But I mean, I certain I didn't it felt like I'd never been on this property before TC and it's been seven years since I've been here, but I I recognized old 16, which I think is again 11 or 12 on this current route in the Sergio hole. I when I got there, I was like, I recognize this spot. The rest felt like a completely new golf course to me in almost every way. I'm looking like 18 will be almost an afterthought of like if if matches make it to 18, 18 will probably be a pretty awkward finishing spot. There is a little bit of a grandstand on the back of the build out on one elevated spot, but it is one of the worst greens to view around. There's no other seating, no other grandstand, no hospitality around 18 green. And it's kind of up on a perched spot. And it is going to be it is going to be a little awkward environment around 18, but just like that's not a typical for a match play event because just a small percentage of matches actually get there. But yeah, if you're hoping to last minute see some action on 18, you're going to be kind of out of luck. And I also wouldn't recommend you camp out on 18 hoping you see some action there. So just might be a little weird vibe around 18, but I don't know, I don't know what you really do about that. So what's next? Anything else? Do you guys want to get into some pairings? What's jump? What are any other pairings we haven't talked about that are jumping off the page? We haven't really talked much about pairings on the international side as well. I didn't think I didn't make it over to see what the groupings were on the other side of the golf course. And they finished earlier than the U.S. team did unfortunately. Well, to wrap up on the U.S., I'd like the pods that you laid out are kind the ones I'd be expecting with like Scotty and Burns. I know it's kind of like, is that worked? On paper, it should. And then I can't lay in Zander are going to be together. But I love the God are up cam young pairing and JT Coivan. And then Bridgeman and Henley just, that makes me chuckle, you know, because I feel like any casual fans out there, but like, who are these two? Who were they? You know, so that's, yeah, no real notes there. I don't, it doesn't feel like anything out of the ordinary, Sally. T.C. on the international side. What's, how do you do this? I truly have no idea. And yeah, I know they've got, I'm assuming Bez is on there for, you know, reasons. With Nico's plan right now, I'm sure they're probably going to have to hide him a little bit. Yeah, I mean, I think you just hope that like, I'm sure they've got their, their strategy for who to pair together in four sums, or in, in, in four sums. And then four ball, I think four balls easier for them. I'm wondering a little bit if, if Snettaker didn't say, hey, let's soak this place. Because I think that, that, that plays against the international's even more. I mean, I think they literally just got a ton of rain, like all, all weekend. I know Snett's is a man of God. I don't know if he's that great of a relationship with the man above to be able to to dictate that. Exactly. But I don't know what you're good at the rest of the week. It does. I don't know what you do either, T.C. But I, I do think the, the leadership group on the international side, I don't want to say they have tricks up their sleeve. I think there's, there's maybe, you know, they're in the same category as the European side of like, I do trust those guys to get the absolute squeeze every drop they possibly could from an analytic standpoint, from a, a, just, I feel like team bonding is never the right word, but just like a managing the entire process from beginning to end to get the absolute most they can out of every single player to the point where it still might be a blowout. And we could stand up and say, like, it's very impressive what they've done. That's what I, after Quill Hall, I just remember being like, holy crap, man, that was a hell of an effort, treble, I'm, I'm, I'm, Trevor, when it was a cap, a captain of that team, like they made that close near the end when it had no business being close. And I think they could lose by six points and still will look back and say they did a heck of a job managing this team. Even, even two years ago, like, after Friday, it was, they were down five nothing after Thursday. And then they did four balls first on Thursday. They put four sims on Friday. They swept four sims. It was, it was Hadecki and Sungjae. They beat Cantley and Shoffley seven and six. And you got Adam Scott and Taylor Pendrith want against the Gala and Morkawa five and four. Bez and Day. So you're, so you're putting Bez with somebody new, Conor's and Hughes. Hughes obviously not there. And then Seawoo and Ben on. So you're looking at pretty much all new pairings on that side of things. Morning four ball in on Saturday, last time around Seawoo and Tom Kim played together. And they'd be handling beat Wyndham and Keegan. You had Hadecki and Sungjae played together. And then, yeah. And then I just, yeah, I don't think there's, it looks like Seawoo and Tom Kim is the one that's jumping out. And maybe Hadecki and Sungjae. And those were kind of the two that, I don't know what the drop back out, the data would say. But there is some just like, there's, there's pairs of countrymen that is, you know, a casual viewer would be like, Oh, yeah, pair the Japanese up together in the South Koreans and the two Australians. And then you have a few floaters like Etch of Maria and Ryan Fox, that, you know, but the data might say, like, that's not smart. But you're saying Tom Kim and Seawoo is a good pairing. I don't know. I feel like Minwoo and, and hits out Sune could be interesting. I kind of, you know, Minwoo's kind of volatile, but that could be a good balance for four ball. But I still don't know. I, you know, stupid me. I'm like, what? Everyone's like, all of the pairings for four s'ms are so important. Like, what are you looking for? You know what I'm saying? Like, what is the strategy there? You want somebody that, like, hits their irons well that balances out? Like, somebody that hits the T ball well, I still would love for one of these staff people to tell me, like, what the formula is? Well, we've asked that podcast on this podcast, a several people that make those decisions. I mean, basically, you take, take the golf course from one to 18. You lay out, you know, the, the, I'd say it's Rory McElroy and Tommy Fleetwood. What would it look like if Rory hit all the drives on the odd holes? What bunkers would be in play for him? What's expected strokes gained? How that matches up with the expected win direction and the conditions you've got at hand? And what kind of irons does that leave in play for whoever his partner would be? Does that match up really well? If you're giving Tommy a bunch of wedges, is that as good as giving Tommy a bunch of mid irons? And then you reverse it and you say, like, what happens if Tommy hits off these holes and Rory's hitting irons into these and how that matches up onto the different pins and buckets of expected approach distance? And then you then formulate Pull that out into how does it extract that out to say how if you're going to sip somebody How's that going to work would you rather sit up a guy in four ball or in foursums and what your contingency plans are is Is the stuff that like that's the stuff that like makes like judging the captain's picks really difficult because you don't know exactly How a guy fits into a particular plan how a guy fits into a foursums plan and and and kind of Even how that fits into four ball of kind of what holds guys score really well on part three scoring first part four scoring dog like left There's dog like right all that stuff is the granular data that like the public just doesn't really have the same access to and isn't able to judge these decisions on But the good we's good captains are doing that. It's all we certainly don't have access to much data at all I'm just trying to find like a scorecard of for the current routing of how they you know All right, what are the what are the par three's fall? How do you how do you think about this stuff and can't even get that? They're really holding out on us. I mean, you could go with like the the bull moose cup, you know kind of a Teddy Roosevelt vibe Uh, you know, it's I was trying to workshop a few things of of uh Maybe along the jingle is to quiet power Realm um, but it is Uh, I think it's going to lead us into your your ogle v stuff which is that The pj tour probably has too big of a grip on this. It's too. It's it's controlled in too much of a US centric way to probably be as competitive as it could be Yeah, Jeff Ogleby. This is from front office sports um He said I'm not very well-scoulding corporate structure, but it would be advantageous to the event I think to get a little more separation between the two teams or obvious challenges that come along With both teams being operated out of the same building Uh, he said I think the shield and the players we have on our team are global icons, and I don't know if you can really be as good as you can At that from ponopy bead your beach flora And I don't know where I net out on this because I don't eh It's it's a one event every two years and it's a really haphazard group of Organized group of people just from all around the world except Europe like there's it's they've done a great job forming an identity in this shield And I give them serious credit for how they how they've managed to do that from early else to Trevor to you know all the down to ogle v and and the continuity they've had in that and tc, you know, but I shield often I just don't know if like you're I don't think like the problem is that it's coming out of panavitra and there's probably a ton more I don't know about how it is run But I think it's like yeah, and I love Nico at your veria, and I love you know I don't know anything about Nick Taylor enough to love him But like that's kind of the problem here more than it is the tour having too much of a say you know I know the tour dedicates a lot of resources to the international team from a photography standpoint from a media standpoint like They're doing their their best to kind of prop up The opponent here, but it is still just a little bit like hey do you guys want to come over to my house and watch me beat the computer 77 to zero Which I used to do back in the day with some of my friends maddened I feel like that's sorry that takes me back to to freshman year college No, I think I mean obviously this whole thing's owned owned and operated by the pga tour regardless of if it's held in the us or held their internationally which we'll get to but the Yeah, I think some of that probably goes to like the the the resource they have is one or two player relations guys that are like oh no like for for this week you are Looking after the international team and from a psychological perspective I think it's probably pretty powerful for the Roris and the Mac and Tires and the Poulters to have an entirely separate corporate entity behind them, or their membership organization behind them, which is exactly which is the European tour. But again, I don't know how you fix that, right? Like what's the, it's just an amalgamation of a bunch of different countries and, you know, again, they own a hundred percent of this thing. And it was stood up as a, as a way to fence off from IMG setting up something else and the whole thing again comes back to it's a cash grab. It's exactly right. And I, I was saying about this today, like who, who says no to this? Why, who, the Europeans could use a little bit more of a challenge as it comes to some of these team events. Why can't, why don't we, why don't we make it, you can have a maximum of six Europeans on this team as well. Like the top six and maybe not all the Europeans would want to play it and maybe Rory wouldn't want to play this, but like open it up to six possible Europeans and the top six from the rest of the world. And it's an entirely different competition and I get it's against the spirit of what this has been, but it is a cash grab and we are, it is not good on the competitive front. It is very not good on the competitive front at the moment and not trending the right direction, who says no to that part. Solid, what about if you did member guest scoring where every hole is a point and you did nine hole matches. I did a bunch of different. We're dancing around the, you know, it's been around since 94. It might just be a stain on growing the game internationally or the DJ like to see the year point about the Japanese pipeline and I kind of said it earlier about the Australian pipeline. It's like what what are over these 30 years it doesn't feel like it feels like there's a real strong pipeline of European young European players and has been for the last 10 15 years in at the top of the game, but it doesn't see that has not. I felt that in other markets outside of Europe. Well, I think it, you know, a lot has changed with the PGA tour since 1994 namely being Tiger and the corporate dollars that followed that and the like the concentration of worldwide golf in the US has, you know, is hurt golf around the world, I think in a hurt a lot of national opens around the world and it has potentially hurt, you know, the development of some of the international players just knowing how far from home you got to go to play. On the world class tours to get the points you need to do it and be extremely competitive. It's just it's a very different landscape than when things started. Not dissimilar to the European, it's just different, a little different from Europe, you know, to the US compared to Australia to the US compared to South Africa to the US compared to Japan to the US to create the US like it's just a lot bigger time zone shift, travel shift lifestyle shift in that kind of, you know, what you'd have to do to be really competitive in the US and that again, it's just not trending the right direction. It's not, I don't think 2028 is going to be. And I'm not laying that at the PGA towards feed it's just where it's a really interesting thing to kind of track of like you go back to the 90s and and sorry when we did that PGA toward deep dive, I mean, like six of the top 10 were those massive international player, you know, Nick Price is number one player in the world and it's like, OK, it's a global game and it's like, OK, what's the where are the development programs in Japan, TC what you're saying about the women's game versus the men's game coming out of Japan is fascinating like I don't know why, but I'd love to find out. That was the development for a long time in South Korea as well. I mean, a lot of these countries, the women's programs just just happen to, you know, mature faster than the men's do. I will say that the junior president scubs which wrapped up, I don't know if that was this morning or yesterday, the USA completely beat the breaks off of the international team there to 17 and a half six and a half led by captain Matt Kusher CT pan led to squad of the international is this, you know, did not have the horses in the back. CT pan like they did it was the first time. Same thing as so I'm the first time ever that the junior president's couple was was played at the same at the host venue. Good on them. That's awesome. Yep. So there is signs. I would say I think I'm an honest question here is, do we think the PJ tour cares about the competitive nature of this. Like is it affecting the, is it affecting revenue? Because I don't say I don't think I'm looking at energy transfer and for this measures, I feel like you probably have no offense to them, but there feels like there could be some bigger blue chip brands that would want to be associated with a more competitive product. Like yeah, they, I think it, I think they should care, like, but not everything can be the best, you know, and I would say this for an event that like is just routinely stroking out 20, 30, 40 million dollar events like not everything can be the best all the time. I would say you would think that this would be an elevated event for them. I don't know, maybe like definitely behind the players, but I don't know how, how much higher you can possibly get it. It's an exhibition event. Yeah, I think I mean, if we know anything about what roll ups about it is about the competition is about the products, right? And I just don't know if there's a small tweak you can make. I think it's a change will be drastic and I don't know if the tour has that. Let players play. Yeah. I mean, lives going to be knock on wood. Lives could be gone. I mean, if it's about the competition, there, there's an easy suggestion for you. Yeah. I don't think that would be drastic enough. This go around to and even going forward to level the playing field at all. The playing field should be level in these things. Not like it, yeah, 14, 1 and 1 or whatever it is is is pretty comical. But we also is funny because we sit here and we talk about this. And then we'll, we'll row, you know, next, get to next year and we'll get beat by the European rider cup team and. You know, like it's all, it's all miss which that's that's at least what gets me excited about. A, it's a bummer that it's that it's soggy up there. It's all and they've gotten a bunch of rain, but B, that's what gets me excited about Kingston Heath in 2028. That that was the last time it truly felt really, really engaging when was when. That was an international showcase. Yeah. And yeah, and like, all right, you're coming into our fun house and we're playing the game on the ground this week and you're going to have to think your way around. And again, I don't even, I hesitate to hesitate to like suggest this because the answer is, of course, money as the reason why not. But like, I think you make a very strong case that like this event should just be international. There shouldn't be US versions of this. Like this should be the PGA tours. Get it, they're talking about in the same front office sports article. It's about India being a potential venue in in 2032. And like, how much more creative you could get with some of the venues you're going to if you went abroad every two years. That's an interesting concept. US, the US is barnstorming where they got their level of playing field. You're on the road every two years. Is a, that's I like that. That's almost a good. I mean, I imagine the US guys will be like, oh, yeah, we got to travel every time. And you know, this guy's don't love traveling anyway, but the hero president's cup presented by Dr. Moonjall at dlf would be. That would be sick. Now, the only Indian golfer that you can think of to captain the team would be, uh, bond. He went to live, which is also tough. I guess time heals all wounds. You see 2032. I think we'll.
