Premium FPL Picks: Are Haaland and Bruno Locked for GW1?

The podcast hosts analyze the four premium forwards for the new FPL season. They begin with Isak, noting his price drop to 9m after an injury-plagued season. Despite concerns over his fitness, they argue he offers immense value when fit, rivaling Haaland for the Golden Boot. Haaland at 15.5m is discussed as a must-start due to his consistent early-season hauls and City's favorable home fixtures, though a new manager introduces uncertainty. The hosts caution against starting without him, as his explosive returns could derail a season early. Watkins at 8m is described as a steady but uninspiring pick, lacking penalties and prone to streaks of blanks. Villa's squad overhaul adds further unpredictability. Thiago at 8m faces the harshest critique; his reliance on penalties, poor end to last season, and team's lack of creativity make him a "flat-track bully" overpriced for his inconsistency. The hosts suggest he should be 7m to be worth considering for fixture-specific transfers. Overall, they emphasize Haaland's near-essential status and view Isak as the only other forward worth serious consideration, while Watkins and Thiago are avoidable at their current prices.

Support for this podcast comes from the patrons at patreon.com/fml/fpl Oh, yay! We're gonna move the Almond! Swash, what up, baby? Premium pod. Premium. I tried to get you to change the structure of the preseason pods and you just weren't having it. I kind of tried to. And we're back. We're back to the old way we did it, which is just the way we've done it for years. So we're gonna do premiums, not a lot of names this episode, but we'll probably spend an hour talking about them. Yeah, at least. Like and subscribe on YouTube, please, by the way. We get no fucking love on YouTube, and I want people to find our podcasts who have never heard of us. Also, the annual Patreon subscription discount bullshit is still up. Do that. It's a good deal. I have asked this a lot later in the episode. Good job, are you? Let's start on the premiums, baby! Position, should we get it with? I think we should start with forward, because there's only fucking four of them. Well, there's four of everything, but yeah, we'll go there. Yeah, basically. I was just gonna say what we did is since the prices are so flat and weird, as we kind of mentioned last episode, it's like, we just did forward eight plus, mid eight plus, defenders six plus, keeper five five plus. So it's really just the top end, but obviously a lot, you know, eat is close to seven five, and there's a lot of guys on the mid price episode that we should be comparing this to. It's not a traditional premium pod, I think, but it is what it is. So yeah. And if you don't like the way it is, complain, and we'll change it next year. Maybe. Or just complain. Yeah, just blame me. But that was gonna be a banger. Come on! Alright, so we got four guys. We got Holland at 15-5, E-Soc at 9, Oli at 8, and Tiago at 8. Yes. So I mean, talk about E-Soc. Okay, let's talk about E-Soc. Your team. Price hike to price dump the last two years. Big SNAPs. He had a grand total of three goals last year. Yes. He played less than 700 minutes. I don't really know why he goes down one and a half million in the same way that I was saying last potluck. Why is Soca dropping in price? And I think there's a better argument for Soca dropping in price than there is for E-Soc. Because the pens, and maybe there's a little bit of a roll change. And maybe his goal ceiling is lower than it was like two years ago or whatever. Whereas E-Soc goes from 8-5 and 24-25 to 10-5 last season. Doesn't play. He's basically never fit all season. I mean, it's a total right off. Curse season from hell. Drops another one five. I mean, he's. If he's fit, he's going to be a great pick and be a great donger and be a great servant to our field teams. That's how I feel about him. I think it's hard to price him because players that are so chronically unavailable almost means that even when he's in air quotes fit and nailed, just doesn't play. So when you're thinking 10 plus on that player, it's just hard to bake it in. I mean, nine's very generous. I think it's on the low end. I think probably like nine five would have been fair. And man, I think nine five would have been it would have been a good price for him based on the 15 five on Holland. Just because they don't not play 60 games this year. He's never been good when he's played three games a week because he's never really done it. We don't know what that's going to do to him. It's one of those where it's like he's fit until he's not. I don't know how much having or not having pens is going to really dent his fantasy appeal. It's always nice to have a guy on pens, but I don't think like because he's not on pens, I'm assuming he's not going to be on pens. I'm assuming it's going to be so fun. But some people, some managers just believe in like I want my goal scored to get the free goals. And I totally am fine with that opinion and that, you know. And I mean, we saw him let you know a 12 year old take pens last year. We don't know anything really about that yet, but let's just go into it, assuming he won't have pens. At nine when he's fit, he's still probably going to be getting chances. So he's going to be in the bucket of guys this year. Yeah, I think if I were making prices, if I were in the room, the war room making all these prices, I would argue that we should price people as if they're fit because, you know, if they're injured, it doesn't matter what their price is, they're picked in zero percent of teams. Doesn't matter. But if they're fit, that's the real value. And like, he did play like 40 games each of the two seasons before for Newcastle and all comps. You know, obviously not 38 in the league. And he's just by far the most likely to rival Holland for Golden Boot. If there's anyone even remotely likely, that's a different conversation. But he's definitely number two. And I struggle to even find who's number three. I don't think it's anyone obvious. And I just think nine is, yeah, it's just a really lovely, lovely price. I mean, we kind of have to see him fit and be like, okay, he's definitely starting. He's definitely sprinting his life's definitely work. But there's really nothing from last year that makes me not believe that he's just going to get returns if he's fit. And nothing has really changed in that department. Yeah, I think it just was going to cut me in a few years. I mean, I think nine or nine, I feel like who fucking cares. It's such a small minuscule anything. But yeah, you're just going to look at, you know, the texture of the team and seeing like, is this a guy I can fit in? And, you know, we'll see. We'll see. Yeah, good price. Good price. Yeah. Yeah, good pick. Good price. Good player. I was going to start on Holland because I think in a way, and you know, we'll get to Bruno later. Two most expensive players in the game, but Holland has just been so auto every season he's been in the league. And this is the first season, the first man city with no pep in a decade. We've never seen Enzo coach in a lead attack in any level. I mean, maybe the championship, but I didn't follow that season. I mean, he's not as ridiculously auto as he always has been every year. I mean, he's in 75% of teams like saying that as he hat tricks in like, you know, three fifths of the game to start every season. He's been in a league. It's kind of like blast from this. But I do think there's a little bit of a conversation because I think with Bruno's two fixtures. I will get to man in Bruno. It's just feels like absolutely insane to me to not go Bruno. And then like you start having the conversation of like, okay, do I want both? Does this hurt my team? Am I captaining Holland home Bournemouth? Am I captaining Holland at palace in the first suit? I think you can make a reasonable argument that the answer is no to both of those. So that's kind of like where I'm at in Holland. That's that he's in my tinker or whatever. But yeah. Well, there's a few. I think there's a few conversations like do you start with him? How do you view him over the long haul? You know, in the Maresco question. I mean, I think you're you're not really playing optimally if you aren't starting with him because he isn't until he isn't sort of. Am I skeptical on Maresco? Yeah. I mean, really, I mean, I was I hate him. I think he's a fucking idiot. And also like he just plays defensively and you know, maintain possession. We've seen a lot of at thousands of hour of minutes and you know, hours and hours of his football where it's pretty turgid. And all of that said, like man, city's just better than the team you had before. The players he has right now are better than the team you had before. So like that kind of football could work, you know, with the right players and the right mixture and the right balance. So, you know, are you captaining Holland Bournemouth of palace? No, I mean, you're just not you're not captaining anyone who's not playing over the first couple of weeks for sure. And then he plays Coventry at home and game McTrew and everyone's in a captain. Game McOne's a conversation, but like we don't have to have that now just because it's like, you know, we'll get to soccer also. Maybe the obvious one, but it's like it's still city home and there's not really another banger banger fixture that we love. Yeah, I mean, new manager Bournemouth, I don't know, but I mean, it's still one way or the other. If you don't start with him, you're just kind of backing yourself against the into a corner for unnecessarily, I think in the beginning. Yeah, I mean, I imagine with him that the things going to be like, you know, the season's going to wear on. They're going to play more. He always starts hot and then he fades and I think you'll probably have edges where you could kind of go. and look elsewhere, the bigger issue with this, I think, in the grand scheme of the season, is that there just aren't that many other places to put the money. So how much better is your team if you don't go holland and you go, you know, ESOC? And then where you put, like, oh, you get a couple of defendor upgrades. Like, I don't know. They're all kind of the same. Like, you know, you get one extra mid who's like, you know, yeah, maybe Palmer and SAC are both great. So you could do that and set, usually though, I mean, it's like, you know, you find a guy who's seven millimeters, like, just as good as fucking the other guy at nine. You know, so that's where I feel like, and that was something we ran into last year where there just weren't so many premium options as there were in, you know, three years ago, four years ago where, you know, if you have multiple 10 plus million attackers firing, it's like, oh, my God, I have to really make a choice here. There's just two this year. So will it make sense to go against holland at some point this season? It could, you know, yeah. Yeah. I think that there's always kind of like a point where someone nails it perfectly and goes against him and gets like plus 30 because they didn't captain them. They didn't even own him. Yada yada about figuring that out has always been difficult first, specifically us. I think we're really bad at getting on or getting off holland at the right time. But yeah, I mean, the other thing playing in his favor, obviously, I think is something that I've done really well the last two seasons, even though my seasons have gone poorly, which is start with the most expensive guys in each position. And it gives you the ultimate flexibility and it's like, you know what I mean? But like it's, you know, if they start slowly, whatever, whatever, it's easy to be like, okay, I'll make this like double move, triple move, whatever, downgrade. But as you, I think said, I think it was last year, you're like, if holland just braces against born man and you don't own, it feels like your seasons over before it's even started. Like I'm so immediately immediate emergency wild guard, because you can't get him with any double move. Yeah. So kind of kind of pigeon hold there. Yeah. And that's where like people are like, oh, if you're bench booze game, like one like don't have holland spread around like you're just like what are you doing? Yeah. How many times do we, how many years do we have to do this song and dance and have this conversation? You know, it's, you know, you know, you know, you know, you make the sacrifices elsewhere in your team. This isn't the spot. This isn't the spot. And we, you know, nine or something, you know, fucking fuck all starts cat, capping and they kind of don't do anything. I'm like, yeah, let's talk about it. But for now, it's, I mean, it's also like just looking at man city, home born with home coventry, homes underland, home at switch. Those are their for those are their home games to be in season for homes. Yeah, it's just ridiculous. Yeah. I mean, you know, you want, you want to be there. You want to be there. We, we will be there. Yeah. I mean, those are all, I mean, the three obviously coventry, sundry, and hip switch, those are captain games. And then, you know, yeah, born with, I don't know about that. I'll wait until we get a little closer, I think there. But yeah, yeah. Yeah. And so, yeah. And then there's Ollie and Thiago 88. I mean, I think Ollie is the shorter conversation just because he's, yeah, he's always good. Like everyone's always owned him at some point and also he's so inconsistent. Even in the seasons where he's great, he'll blank five games in a row for fun. And he'll also have like two double digit halls and four goals in a three game stretch. And you don't know when it is and you don't know who it's coming against. And I just feel like, I don't know what to do with Ollie. I genuinely am like shrugged. Yeah, he's fine. He's good. I don't want him kind of ever. Yeah. I mean, Villa are also going through quite the success of change. Yeah. Of change and overall the squad, which is, you know, very difficult to know how they're going to come out the end of it. But I mean, you know, it's really going to be looking like, you know, like five, five changes to the 11 this year, which I mean, it's like half the team basically. But I mean, eight is a good price for him. It is. You know, I mean, as you're saying, you know, I mean, last year it looks like he, it looked like he took a notice noticeable step back. And then he kind of finished the year really well. He was on fire then finished the season. Yeah. And, you know, no pens always is a big problem for him because that I think is one of the main things that I mean, look, they don't really get pens anyway. They don't get in the box because they just don't do anything. But it's, it's something that prevents him from just getting those extra, you know, 20 ish points plus per, per season, which kind of prevents him from getting it to that next session on of attacking the attacker. But you know, it's also like the, the assist to it's just hard because like he's always going to hit his XG because he's not very good. So the goal numbers are always okay. But like the assist is like four eight and he had the gear where you're 18. 18. And what the fuck happened that year? I don't even know. There's a lot of fantasy assists like, yeah, yeah, really. It's a pen falling down for pens, stuff like that. Yeah, yeah. Eight, three, like nine and in 2020, 2021. Like when you have the striker that's going to be getting like around five or six assists, it's just not a lot, you know, it's, it's really just not a lot. It doesn't add up over the course of the season. And you're just so much more reliant like on the goals and he's not that prolific and he doesn't have pens. So, you know, the ceiling really feels like it's 175. And you know, for eight, you know, is he going to earn that probably? Is he going to exceed that? Like, he could, you know, but it's just, it's such an uninduced, you know, that's such an uninspiring boring pick. And they have fucking fuck all. It just feels feels really bad. Yeah, the, the, the no pens, like you said, it, it lowers the potential echelon. It doesn't have that 20 point fluff on top of his total. But also it makes it so he can blank six games in a row. Yeah. But like even comparing him to Tiago who's also eight, it's just like, he'll just win, he'll just win a fucking dumb pan against Burnley or West Ham because they fucking suck and they're both getting relegated. And he just gets six. And it's like, yeah, I'll take six, you know, and Ollie just does not have that. He has to do the hardest thing in the sport, which is actually put the ball on the net and open play. Yeah. So, yeah, it's tough. But, yeah, it is tough. It is tough. Tiago, I mean, we talked about the, the price hike last episode and we're not happy about the price hike. I mean, I think in like looking a little deeper in that I kind of forgot from last year's that the one really useful thing about him was he was so predictable. All of his returns were basically against the worst team in the league. So I don't know when that is. I mean, I'm pulling up his fixtures right now. It's kind of immediately. Holmes Burr is at least. Holmes Sunderland at Bormuth is. Yeah, it's okay. It's not like amazing. Maybe it's like, you know, full, he has full on Newcastle, Ipswich, Coventry and a Row and in the pile up or, you know, something like that. But basically what I'm trying to say is I'm just going to be looking out for that and trying to find is there a run of five games where it's worth transferring in him, transferring him in and transferring him out. And otherwise I'm just like, ah, you know, he's still, he ended the season very, very badly. I think he blanked in almost every game besides a couple of pens. They ended the season very, very badly. Yeah, I just don't think they're going to be winning 10 penalties again. And I don't think that's a crazy take. It just doesn't happen. You're on your. You ready for this one? Go on. First manager fired Curlyheader. I could definitely see it. I could see it. His vibes are good, but how much does that get them? I don't know. I don't think enough was talked about how bad they were at the end of the last season. Like they collapsed at a Brentham A.B. Heard Slurmant level collapsing to not, you know, do the things. I mean, they were in the driver's seat and they just couldn't do anything at the end of the season. And like it was them and Chelsea. It was kind of them and Chelsea were like, there was a point where Chelsea were favorites for like fourth or fifth and Brent for favorites for Europa League at some point. And then they both just finished ninth and tenth. It was just like, what the fuck happened? They couldn't score goals. They couldn't score anything. They couldn't create chances. I can do anything. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I just couldn't. I feel like there isn't a less of a pick in the forward than Thiago. Like I just feel like he's so far away from being a pick. Yeah. Just the team. The team wasn't creating anything. He's a bit of a donkey. He scored 13 pens last year. He doesn't pass. I mean, I don't know. Like what does he do? He just, he's just. Anthony moved the needle. Like, no, they're the exact same team. They haven't gotten any better. They have a bad midfield. They have bad defenders and they have a good guy who throw a good long throw and they're good long throw. And coyote. And yeah, I'm just, I'm down. I'm down here big time on Thiago. So yeah, eight socks. I think he should have been seven. Seven would have been seven is the appropriate price. Cause like you said, you know, these flat track bully guys are really nice when they're priced at six. And you can just kind of put them in your team and forget that they exist. Cause then you don't have to look at like, oh, well, I can only have them for this window. But when they're eight, I mean, and they're not, they're reliably not returning. And it's the good teams in the league because they're reliably like two goal underdogs because they suck and they don't create anything. Like you just can't carry that. You can't carry that that way. So he doesn't have double digit halls. Really. He's usually kind of just a two. He's a pro. He's a raya. He's a eight million raya. He's two or six. And yeah, just five with the yellow cards. He did that a few times. Yeah, he did do that again. - Yeah, a couple of fours at Defconz, which-- - I know. - That's kind of funny. - Oh, and the Bowen Special. - Yeah, the Bowen Special. (upbeat music) - Yeah, so I mean, Issa, interesting, Holland's-- - Very interesting. - I mean, I saw there was a little bit of discourse on Discord about Holland's 15-5. I think people were a little bit-- I mean, this wasn't like this week or anything, just since prices came out, that was like a little bit high. Do you think that's higher? Do you think that's an appropriate price or a low? - I think it's right. - It feels-- - It's just fine. - Yeah, it feels right to me. Yeah, I mean, he's taken the mantle from Moe to just be year on year, most expensive player in the game. He will be until he fucking retires as he should be. And I like it being like a hard pill to swallow. I like it being like fucking fuck me. You could make every argument in the world as he worth six and a half more than so and so, 'cause he worth five more than so and so. And in the end, it's just like, yeah, but he's gonna be in my fucking team. - You know, like you can do that. You take your risk. He's in my team, you know? I like that. I like that. It's really hard. Yeah. It felt-- - Sure. - So I said we talk about Bruno, and I think Bruno is the place to start because second most expensive player in the game, he got a huge price rise to 12. I mentioned on last episode and got some negative feedback for it that I think it's too high. And I think it's too high from a season perspective, but the question isn't, how is his value for a season long pick? The question is, is it a good bet to make against a very highly owned Bruno who can double digit hall against any one in any game, takes every box against two promoted sides in game, one in game, two. And the answer's just like, no, you're fucking huffing glue if you think it's good to go against in a game, one in game, two, right? I mean, it's just auto. - Yeah, I am with you a million percent. I think you're absolutely stupid if you don't have Bruno. I think you have a much easier time arguing not having hall and then not having Bruno for game. - I agree. I actually agree. - Yeah. I think 12 is absolutely banana land and saying price for Bruno. And he will not be in my team for very long. That said, you look at the first two fixtures and you just build the team around it. And then you figure it out later, you wild card, you do whatever you want to do. But I think he'll probably be the highest captain for both of those game, one, game, two. - 100% game, two with the home. But yeah, he'll be really high in game, one, two. It'll definitely be really high. - Yeah. And it's great, great pick, great player, always available. It's just gonna be how long do you persist? What do they look like? When do you jump off? It's just the last time he had this kind of a price hike was about five years ago. And he just completely crashed and burned afterwards. And he had 24 assists last year. His assists is 12, 9, 9, 7, 14. And then 24, I mean, one of these things is not like the others. - Yeah, exactly. - Is he gonna be getting assists on every fifth corner kick he takes? Like probably not. And the goals are depressed because he doesn't shoot that much. And if they don't get six or seven pens in a year, then it's gonna be around 10. So, you know, he can't not get 175 points and at 12 million, that's not good enough. - Yeah, exactly. - And I mean, I view him more as like at 175 point player than any of them. - Yeah, I mean, that's just logical. I mean, we have, he's not one of the guys where it feels like we're like taking a stand at all to me because he has 3000 minutes for six seasons in a row. Like we know who he is. He's hit 244 in his first full season. He hit 235 last season. And the other ones are 151, 176, 166, 174. Very, very consistent. And I think that first year he hit 244. I think they had like 10 penalties or something like that. - Yeah, a lot of pens out here. - Yeah, like you said, just one thing is not like the other. He scored 18 goals out here. And he's never come even close to that in any other year. He barely had double digits. So, I think we're on the same page. And you know, they have Europe this year and that won't start obviously until when I'm not getting younger either. - He's not getting younger. They have Europe, et cetera. We'll get off him when we get off him, but we will both be starting with him. I mean, I think where it gets more interesting is, I mean, Max Bird in X-50 were kind of asking like, how do you compare the value of a premium, for example, Bruno against the cheaper alternatives in the same team, for example, Cunya and Buma? - Yeah, I think it's like a bias that doesn't make too much sense when you compare within the same team because I think what you're really supposed to be doing is comparing against the entire game and like all of the price bracket sort of. But like in a vacuum, I mean, who's gonna have value? Bruno at 12, Buma at 8, or Cunya at 8. Two of those players have a lot better chance of providing you value than the one that's 12 million. Does that mean either of them are picks like, to me, like no, I mean, I just don't really like either of them as picks, as long as Carrick's there and from what I saw last year. I know Cunya had some green shoots, but when you look at them playing 50 games and the squad is pretty thin, it's just not that robust with not that many options and I really don't like Carrick. Like really feel like he's a really predictable, easy to manage against type of a manager from what I was watching last year. - I just don't see it. Like he doesn't also strengthen, it's like let me get the most out of my players. It's like let me just like do something so we don't get whacked and maybe we'll win one goal game. So like that's what I feel like he does. So like, are they gonna roll, you know, switch and haul? Yeah, fucking, they better roll them. They're just, they've players I've never heard of like on all of the up and down those. - A lot of them. Yeah, and the players I have heard of are fucking terrible. - That's even worse. - Yeah. Like, you know, I'm not saying, you know, don't triple their attack game week one. Like yeah, go for it. You know, I'm not that could work out really well. But over the course of the season, I just, you know, Buma had so many issues last year and you know, Kun is just blow so hot and cold. I'm just, I don't want too much to do with it honestly. What's your, what's your, what's your, yeah, I mean, it's like, this is the struggle of a preseason pod is like everything has the context of like, what we think of them and the full season and their price and the value and whatever. And then also what do we think of them from game one, game week two? - Yeah. - I think Kunian Buma highly, great, great picks for game week one and two. Like starting with a triple men United midfield is great. Like as long as it looks like they're definitely gonna start, you know, they were kind of like, so so nailed last year with, you know, Ahmad and Cesco and whatever. But I think they will probably start and I'm all for that. But yeah, projecting, you know, long term season, I mean, we'll have to see, we would kind of have to see a role change that I feel like it's way too early to predict like Buma playing striker, Kunian playing striker, one of them having pens, maybe Bruno gets injured or something like that. But I did look back to last year to see like, the thing I was curious about when I looked back was sort of like, what was Bruno doing in the games in Kunian return and what was Bruno doing in the games of Buma returned and Bruno just returns every time either of them return. I mean, basically he's assisting the goal, so basically Kunian Buma both playing. Yeah, Kunian Buma both blanked in 20 matches that they played in each and then in the games were Kunian return, the average 7.2 and Bruno average 8.9 in those. And Buma weirdly average 8.4 and Bruno less 6.6. But basically if Bruno returns, then whatever, you know, the sky's blue. Bruno returns all the fucking time. But if Kunian is returning or Buma's returning, Bruno is almost definitely also returning. So like it's not coverage, it's just additive to me. It's like if you think Mandy and I that are gonna score three plus in either or both of these games, you should probably just have all of them, not sacrificing Bruno at all is kind of where I settled. Yeah, that's fair. Yeah. I mean, good luck putting all three of them in with Hall and that's gonna be a tall toss. I have it right now, but it's, you know, it's fucking July 27th. Yeah, I have it in. I've been in a band. It's a bad event. No, not a bench. Oh, yeah, yeah. So need to find like two more million. And then the only other meads that are 8 plus are Saka, Palmer, Semenio and GW. So where do you want to go here? Well, I mean, I think Saka and Palmer can be talked about a little bit together. Yeah. I mean, they both, both getting some price drops. They're just, they're really good prices for both players when you just look at their historical context in the game. Palmer, it's, it's, it's really almost the fools Aaron to try and really dissect and analyze Palmer because we just have seen nothing of Shabby Alonzo and the team, but when we're looking at, he's talking about, you know, him up with Rodgers and. Yeah. I mean, it was not a surprise that last year, you know, they just, the team, when Palmer's going to FPL, the teams built around him. And like he is put in a position where, you know, passes go to him, creativity is through him. He's the outlet. They're counter attacking. Last year they did none of that. And he can't just play and be an FPL God. He just, if he's just playing in a team, he's just bad, you know, he's just not a good pick. He'd be good if it was like seven million, but if Alonzo changes things and, you know, we, we do have a reversion to what it looked like a couple of years ago and Palmer was flowing, he's going to make a mockery of that price. I mean, he's like, he is like a 12 million, he can be a 12 million, a million player, who's worth 12 million. So I think with Palmer, it's just like. Monitor very closely. Yeah, exactly. And if you have any whiffs of like they're, they're doing something here and you're sort of like, you want to kind of be early, I think on that one. Yeah. For me, he's a big eye test consideration, not just the role because I think any manager with any sort of a brain will build around it. But every report is that he just was never fit for the entire day of last season. He had a hernia, some groin shit, whatever the fuck. He couldn't run, he never managing him in training. Yeah, he couldn't be anyone on the dribble. He could barely get shots off at his normal rate. No, he was really good at dribbling when he was Palm God formerly known as the artist formerly known as Palm God. And I just want to see that like I feel like it's, it's almost like one game is really all I need. Like if he just like destroys volume and gets, you know, a goal of assists and beating guys in the dribble and took five shots, which is like normal Palmer, then it's like, oh, yeah, here we go. Like he might be season long hold, nine, five, like you said, make a mockery of the price. He's going to hit 250. Sock is also the game of the game a week too is a big deal. Game a week. No, you're up. Yeah, exactly. And then Sock is so different because he doesn't have that ceiling, but he's more consistent than his team is more settled and way better. And it's just like he's going to be good. He's going to be solid to good at minimum, like whenever he's fit in starting in your team. And if they have three games a week, he might just like randomly not start one. And that's not great. And you're not going to get any press conference information ever in the games where he's not going to start. So that's also not great. Yeah, I mean, he's honestly a kind of a lot like esok to me in this in this way where it's like both lower ceiling. That's the problem. We're ceiling. Yeah, we're we're ceiling without pens, which is what we assume for right now. But like it's the same kind of thing like you're saying, you know, he's, you never know what his fitness is. I mean, we haven't known his, he hasn't been fit for literally years. And he's all, it's just at nine five, you know, I mean, when he is fit, that's an easy price for him to to provide value on even without pens. Cause he'll just, you know, he'll at least come in at like a 180 or something like that. Yeah. For sure. But yeah, I don't know. I mean, it's, it's, you know, it's July 27th or recording this. We don't know what shape he is. Maybe he was not being played by Tush. And then he hat tricks in the concentration. 90 and looks like just the best player on the pitch easily. So he could just come back and be in good, good neck. I mean, he's still in a, in the prime of his career type of age. Yeah. Um, would it surprise me if you played 3000 minutes this year? No, it wouldn't. I think we'll have early indications if that's going to be the case because with this with system, look, look, obviously you're talking about a game here or there when it's Christmas. Like, yeah. Yeah. And also, you know, he could play, you know, he could start 33 games and hit 3000 minutes with the odd here and their game being, you know, often international break or, or Christmas three games in a week. And, you know, he's being rested more in the Champions League group. And, you know, so I think there are, there are ways that he's a good pick. And yeah, I just, I just feel like Bruno, I think is so bad at 12. That's right. It makes these guys a lot more enticing. You know, just that, like, you know, going there makes so much more sense to me. Totally. So, you know, it's, I think that's the intersection point. Yeah. No, I'm with you all the way. I'm 100% with you. You know, obviously England made it far in the World Cup. I'm sure he didn't make it to the players. Well, he didn't do anything, but they still get the whatever time off, like whatever amount of weeks off. So I'm sure he's not with the team. I'm sure he's not training. I'm sure he's not going to plan for you season for a while. But yeah, I mean, like, I mean, maybe our Teta changed his ways and maybe it was a managing minutes thing, but it sure didn't seem like it because when he was fed, he was still playing like 80 plus in all the games. There were just these long stretches where he just wasn't fed at all and he was playing 30 minutes. And that was the disaster, the disaster point in the season. But when he's starting and playing 90s and he usually starts the season starting and playing 90s, just fucking really good pick. Just straight up a really good pick. And as I was saying earlier, like Holland's not nailed to be cap could be, but I think Arsenal home Coventry on Friday with the potential lineup. That might be the best cat. That might be there's just no player. Well, it would be him. It would be soccer. After no preseason, him playing more than 60 feels like us. Absolutely. Well, yeah, I don't know what the preseason is. It will be, but you know, three weeks from now, we'll have a better idea. I guess, but yeah, that was that was it. Yeah, I mean, we, I think you know, he just gets forgotten about because he's had a couple of down years, but last year he played 2200 minutes. Seven goals, tennis is 157 points. I mean, that's just 200 plus point. That's 200 point, 200 point plus pace in a full season. And you know, I think he maybe took one pen last year, I think. So yeah, I think so. Yeah. But, you know, even, but I mean, you know, saying that is like, you know, he's, you know, you bump it up to like 10 goals, you know, 15 assists or something like that, you know, in the full season, you're just 200 plus, you know, he's just good, good pick, still a good pick, still a good player. He was 5.7 per start last year. And pretty good. In 38 games, that's 216. Yeah, it's pretty good. Just, yeah, he's just he's automatic. He's a great player. Then the other is GW and some men. Yeah, I mean, both heroes like it's a menu and obvious second best city pick. And I just think like emphatically know, I mean, yeah, it's July, but like I just don't feel like I have any idea who the second best city pick is. It could be a fucking play. Kusinov, you know, like I have no idea they're going to be defensive possession team. I don't know how many goals they're going to score. I don't know how aggressive they're going to be. I don't even know who the front four is going to be. You know, so there's just so many question marks. And he's obviously very good. You know, like he was unreal last season and deserves all the plot. It's that he got and also I just, yeah, I just I have literally no idea if he's a big at all. And probably just won't go there. Yeah, I mean, it's just a big price. Like he's not priced to buy and you know, you're buying a player who overperforms his underlines, which is, you know, is this son or is this right? You know, he has a season where he just hits his underlines. On at at par and you're just a disaster is one of the worst. That's a game. Yeah. The big thing though is, you know, born myth, palace, Coventry home, one, two, three, when one and two are against new managers, you know, and you have two homes in the first three. It's just it's really kind. You know, I mean, it's just it's a really it's as good as a start as you could imagine, playing up our phone, a promoted side in the two teams with new managers. So yeah. Yeah, it's just it's hard. I think it's just really going to be hard to go there. Yeah. And you know, you mentioned phone in last episode. I mentioned Turkey last episode. It's it's almost easier to just see them fitting into a Marasca side. If we like, project that 24, 25 Chelsea team and he models the team, he models the shape in that same way, it's sort of easier to see them fitting in. Not that I don't think some end is going to start. I do. But it's just like, I don't know, I don't know who's going to be as involved. I think it might be more of like a two man game than a four man game, you know, and and if that's the case, I think it's going to be tricky to holland more often than it is anyone else to Holland or anyone to Zemenio. But yeah, it's too early to tell. I think, you know, maybe we'll get some free season stuff. And maybe he's, you know, second strikering like he did for a period under pep and we'll see. And then MGW, your your favorite guy in the world. That's accurate. accurate. I mean, I listen back to our post-mortem and my. I haven't listened yet. In a very high pitched voice was speculating like, is he going to be eight five? There you go. That's what I was so, I mean, well, I mean, I, I thought when I saw these prices eight was a little high, but on that, I was like, oh, okay, this better. This better than I thought. - Bargain bin. - Yeah, I mean, I thought the hike was gonna be even higher, but I just, you know, again, it's as I alluded to in the last episode is just talk about ticks every box. I mean, he just ticks every box. One game a week, new attacking manager, think he's on pens. - Yeah, I don't know. - He's just coming into his own. - It's like him, it's gonna be more wood, basically, but it would even, I feel like wood's not mobile enough to play for a glass. - I agree. I don't know how he plays more than 20. Like he's just gonna fucking die or get injured right away 'cause there's such a press, such so much pressing is required for the phone. - I think encountering and sprinting all day every day. - He might officially just a little bit be past it. So, but it's also like he has the arm bandit's his team and he's also just good at pens. So yeah, I mean, like we talked about, we were sort of a disagreement where you were kind of thinking like his ceiling was last year. And I thought that he has a lot more room to go with what he did last year coming into a full season with an attacking manager with one game a week compared to all of the, I mean, he had so much working against him last year and he still puts up 180. - Like four managers and European. - Yeah, I got it. - That's like roughly their situation. - And I mean, I think he banged, did he bang like two hat tricks last year? - I think both. - He had the one in the, like-- - We had a brace. - In the double, right? When people had him against Burnley. - Yeah, I think he, I think towards the end of the season when they had V-Tour, he had a couple game, like he did a lot of work in a couple games. Like he had two or three games where he had like very heavy returns. - He had one hat trick. - And he had one 13 pointer that was goal assist. And then his only other double digit was gaming 10, with Gimic 11, he had a goal. - Not as dramatic as I was meant to remember. - Yeah, he had no braces. He just said the one hatty, yeah. - But I mean, the thing that's unique about him is like, before last year, I mean, look, he's always, he's very available, right? Played 3,000 minutes every year. He's been there for four years. - Fit for sure. - Yeah. - The three years before last year, his assist numbers were 11, 12 and 12. They had no goals, he never shot. Last year, he had 15 goals for his assist. So he literally can do everything. And he just took a huge step forward in the goal scoring last year. And these are not, you know, tapens 'cause he's playing second striker. Like they're just bangers, they're good movement. Like they're all different types of goals. And, you know, I just, I just think he's one of the best players in the league. And I think this year, he's gonna start being taught, he's gonna start being talked about in that light. And I just think that the sky's the limit for him. So. - And too cool, didn't bring him for England. How about that? - Another box that you can check. - No, I know, but it's like this fucking idiot. - Yeah, I mean. - Summer off. - I wonder if we should be possibly looking back at Eze and Alise's best moments and just being like, can he be some combination of these two for Glasner at Forest? And maybe he can, and again, their ceiling's probably like what he did last year, like probably 180 out. Either of them ever got more than that 'cause of availability, but yeah, I mean, it's nothing from last pod has changed in my mind, where I'm just like great player, love him, he's awesome. And I'm still looking at 188 and it's like, yeah, that I think that's probably his upper end of like where he'll finish. I don't think he'll get 15 goals. And I do think he'll get way more than four assists and like both things can be true, you know? But great player. And you know, they start home leads. Maybe he finds his way into a bench for his team, At Liverpool may be a wide open game, you know? - Like they should be a team-finder. - It should be a team-finder, yeah. It should just be like a really up and down, crazy game, yeah. So he could be a good gaming-quant guy, even though I think the price is too high, which seems to be a theme here. I'm like Holland, Bruno, they're gonna be in my game-quant team. - Yeah. - Yeah, and it's gonna be also difficult because of the one game a week versus the teams that don't have one game a week. Like when does that come in to be a thing? - Yeah. - It's not Game Week 1, you know? - No. - So that's something also just, you know, 'cause I tend to have to heavily reliance on like teams that have won Game Week 1 game a week for the season where I'm like, I mean, 'cause a lot of times that doesn't really bare fruit until like, - Yeah. - February, because that's when the teams are getting tired, that play two games a week. - The team has heard and rotated. - Yeah, so like sometimes I have like a little bit too extra on the teams that don't play twice a week and thinking it's gonna be more advantageous than it is. And you know, this very well could be one of those cases because, you know, eight, you know, I mean, if you're spending eight on an NFO attacker, I mean, you're not spending a lot of money on an attacker on a top four team. - Yeah. - An NFO certainly are not that. So, you know, it's looking at that too, which is an, you know, - Yeah. - It's a whole new amount of it. - I mean, arguably the best thing about one Game of Week teams is just like, you can pretty reliably assume this lineup is just the lineup. But like Glaser's just gonna play 11 guys. I mean, he's not a big rotation guy. There's no reason to be their first 11s better than the rest of their team, especially. - It'll just be fitness. - You know, so that's like almost the advantage. Like if we're comparing him to Socka, aforementioned, right? Like Socka might just miss a random game. - Or like, right. - And that's right. I think some of the virtues probably are close to the game. - They might just, yeah. - And it's probably okay. Like he doesn't need to play at Sun, Socka doesn't need to play at Sunterland. They will win the game and he's available for 30 off the bench. And that's okay. And Gibbsway is just 90 every week. And that's just a big percentage of points. - It's also less stressful. - Less stressful. - Way less stressful. - All right, deep defenders. - Yeah, so six plus is basically there's the four solo guys. And then there's a few unmanned city and a few on Arsenal. So yeah. - More six plus defenders than we've ever had, or at least in all seven, ten years. - Especially because none of them are fullbacks except O'Reilly, which is really weird. - Oh, I guess. - New Nash, I guess. But yeah, it's like that. We got so used to that just like attacking fullback are the only options to ever pick an FBL. And now it's just completely flipped on its head. - Yeah, I mean, I feel like this is like back in the days when Vittic was a pick or something. - There we go. - Yeah, Terry and Jett. - Yeah, so Gab, eight. - Hello. - It's just nutty. It's a nutty number to look at. - It's great. - You know, the Defcons I still feel like are very unreliable there in terms of how they play. And what I, I still, as I will say this forever, I don't really know what a Defcon is. When I watch them play, I don't see Gabrielle do very much besides makeside passes. So I don't know how he was hitting the threshold so many times last year. I just think a really bad pick at eight. Arsenal though are a really interesting case because they have Saliba and Timber at six and six five both injured, which means three quarters of their backline are gonna be five five and under. - Yeah, we kind of just have to talk about all their defenders I think in this episode, even though it's not the premium because it's like, what are we doing? Like we, these are the guys. - We're teasing, we're teasing till next episode. - Fine, fine, fine, tease, tease, tease. But yeah, I mean, I don't, Saliba's apparently just completely fucked, right? Timber has been maybe fucked, maybe not fucked for four months. So I don't know what to make of that. In theory, he should be ready for the sort of the season, but I still read flagged, he still read flagged. - It should buy his brother, who is the look alike. - Yeah, there we go. - Just throw him out there, he'll be fine. - But the only, the big thing here is like, they play the first game of the entire season. So will we get a lineup that's reliable? And if so, yeah, leak. And then if so, you know, if it's mascara starting right center back, great pick. If it's hink, starting at center back, great pick. Cal, you know, like whoever's starting is probably just a great pick, especially with the one game of week until champions like start. So yeah, I mean, that's just kind of the end all be all, right, with Arsenal. - Yeah, I think it's a broader, I mean, the Arsenal question is more broad because they play at Villa Home Chelsea and then two away games, four and five, neither of which are Hizzy, Sunderland and Brighton. So it's probably as bad as an opening five, you could imagine. - Home Coventry. - That's the, yeah, the totality of the five. And the best and only good fixture of the five, there's one good fixture in the open. - I mean, I have Sunderland's good. Don't forget it's Arsenal. I mean, there, Sunderland don't attack like that. Like that's a clean. - Yeah, but at home, I mean, it's, yeah, it's probably a clean, but at home, it's still gonna be a tight game. It's not like a knockover. - Sunderland and Europa League. Like I'm not worried about that game. Yeah. - Fine. But I mean, just looking at the defense is like, you know, how far do you want to go? to stretch those players. Like how comfortable are you spending that amount of money when you, after, you know, assuming the game, one clean comes in. Yeah. We're looking at those players looking at, you know, the next couple of game, exactly like by happy here. You have to ask yourself that question. But, yeah, you know, ultimately, 5/5 and under defender, if they're all 5/5, I guess right? So 5/5 defenders from Arsenal are on the menu, but yeah, Gab at 8, I just, I just don't see it. I just really don't see it. I don't see it at all. He's in a quarter of a team, which I love to see because I, I would be really surprised to see him in a lot of like teams and discord, for example. Yeah. I mean, he's going to get points and so points are good. But we basically are in agreement as of now, at least that, you know, with Hollin and Bruno. Having Hollin and Bruno and chewing in an 8 million center back is, it's just not possible. I don't think. Just looking at like my whatever bullshit team, then front of me, like just going from a 5 million to an 8 million and trying to find that and not have it not being from Bruno and Hollin's just, you can't just not possible. You just can't do that. So, yeah, that's it for them. And then, you know, city, so, O'Reilly 6'5, Gay, he 6, Nunech 6, you know, they have 10 fucking defenders in the game. Also, and we have no idea who's going to start anywhere really. I mean, O'Reilly, we assume is left back. Gay, we assume will be one of the starters. I feel like I don't feel confident that Nunech is going to be the right back and I don't feel confident on who the other center back is going to be. Yeah, I mean, the windows still open. But, you know, we Nunech showed the world that he's just not very good and it would be a little bit, a little bit hilarious if they entered another season with him as the first choice right back because he's just so not good. He's just not good. I mean, my thing with looking at cities, like I just want to figure out who the guy who's not these three guys. I know, right? Who's the chief? Who are the cheaper guys? Cause it just feels like none of them are worth it. Yeah. I mean, O'Reilly, we just have to see the role. Like, I mean, he could definitely be worth 6'5, but we need to see him playing wing, you know, like he was last year. Yeah. Or as like, you know, auxiliary striker or support in the box guy. So until that is happening, it's just, it doesn't feel like there's, there's value here at all for me. Yeah, totally agree. I mean, I could see, and this is sort of like bleeding into the Don Aruma discussion we'll have in the next section, but like, I could see Maresca's man city keeping a lot of cleans. If they play the same way that he did a Chelsea, I mean, they kept 11 cleans, which doesn't sound like a lot, but they had fucking Bob Sanchez and terrible center back. So maybe that is a lot because they don't have those players on the scene. You know, it's a big upgrade. So I could see that world if there's like a nailed center back, like, you know, hopefully it's one of the five fives and maybe they can defcon a little bit or something like that. Probably a good pick, but yeah, it's just for now. It's just now, I don't know, you know, nothing, nothing grabbing me at all, really. Yeah, I'm with you on that one. Yeah. And then the six os are interesting. I mean, I want to start with La Croix because Chelsea's Chelsea's La Croix. How about that fee? Love to love the fee. Big fee, good, good fucking player, really good player. They'll make Chelsea better. Defcon monster last year for Palace. And this is going to be the first year where we're seeing like the manager effect on Defcon. Like, will he still be a Defcon monster? I have no idea. You know, same with like, Irola leaving and all these, all these things. But if he's a Defcon monster on Chabayalanzo's Chelsea, I think they're going to be a really good defense and keep a lot of cleans. That's how he plays. And I think he's probably just going to be really good pick. Yeah, I still want the cheaper guy. Like, I want Cole a lot five. You know, I mean, I still just want the cheaper guys. So unless if that's a disaster and Chalaba play, I mean, people are chopping in an out of the way. And I think that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to do a lot of things. I mean, he's not a pick until he is a pick. He's not a pick until he is a pick. He has to prove it. He has to be deathconning at the same rate as last year and starting every game. And they have to be good. Even he's just not a pick, dude. Sex is ridiculous. He's not a pick. If he's deathconning every game like he did last year and there are solid defense. He's a pick. You know, because they could keep 14 cleans and he could be legit. It's possible. Yeah, I think it's possible. I mean, they just retooled their entire men field and backline. Like literally entire thing. All right. Let's, let's, let's shout this one. I don't want to get into a spot right now. Yeah. I'll keep the most important position. Well, we didn't talk about Tarko or Verge. What? You just want to skip them? They're so annoying. But they are the ones who haven't changed teams. I think Tarko, out of all of these guys, is like the most sustainable in a way. Like Everton keeping 11 cleans and him just deathconning out his fucking ass and getting 10 yellow cards and hitting 170. I'm just like, yeah, I see absolutely no reason why that wouldn't happen again. I really don't. You think he'll regress in some way? Like, because the trees are not again. Like, I don't know. I broke his career high in goals and assists last year. Okay. He got, no, that's not true. It's three goals one year. But yeah, so you 2018, he goes down one goal and one assists less. You know, he's still gonna DEF CON every game. He's still just good. Like he's just so solid. - Yeah, no, I mean, he's the most bland set and forget of all of these picks, of all of this in this price bracket. - Totally. - I mean, LaCroix may be like in a similar kind of place. It's just like, oh my God, are we fucking going here? Are we talking? Again, are we really looking at Tarko? - That's the funny thing that happened last year. Yeah, so why? - Yeah, and then all we talked about in the pre-season of last season was like, he's just gonna get 50 DEF CON points. What the fuck, he's auto and then we don't have them. And he just finishes on 170. Should've had him all year. And it's like, yes, don't see that changing verge on the other end, I mean, six goals is a lot of goals. Like we kind of need to see them, see them, keep some cleans for him to even be in the conversation. He's six, five. - He should've been six. - That was a good question. - Yeah, yeah, it was just six. - Six goals is an obvious anomaly, usually scores three. And the defense is a mess and it's a new manager. I just don't, it's just a weird price by them, honestly. - Yeah, I mean, the DEF CONs, it's like, I just still imagine the DEF CONs manager to manage, like team manager, like you know. - That's the thing, yeah. - You're right. - And he did a lot last year under slot. Like he's just so active, 'cause he sweeps, he does a lot of the marshaling, he steps up, he does all of that shit. So, I mean, it's, he's fine. I mean, he's just, it's a good center back. - Yeah, and they kept what, 10 cleans less here, like that's gotta be the floor. I mean, I can't imagine a world where it's less than 10 cleans. So, he's in a dark kind of way. It's just like, yeah, he's gonna be a fine pick. He's not, he's definitely not gonna completely fuck you over in any way. I can almost guarantee that. But is this, is this the, do I see upside? Do I see a 200 point season? Like, no, no, I just don't. It's not, they're not that team. They need to keep 20 cleans and they're not going to. So, but it's also just, you know, friendly reminder, you know, we're talking about, you know, we don't need to get 200 points from our 65 defender, you know, or our 65 midfielder. We're talking about these guys like, they're the nine million midfielder's, like, are they gonna get 200 points? They're gonna get 160. - Yeah. - So, - Well, this is always the thing, right? It's like, 'cause we're comparing 65 defender to a nine five midfielder and be like, which one's gonna get 200 points? But then the replacement level is a four five defender or, you know, I don't know, seven midfielder and the math gets weird on like, you know? - Yeah. - That's why I-- - But it's still just, - Premium. - Yeah. But like, just talking about LaCroix and Tarko, like. - Yeah. - These guys are still exactly what we knew them to be at the end of last season, where they're just gonna be extremely high floor, extremely reliable, extremely available. - Yep. - Like, and, you know, it's, you're not obviously gonna look at them in a four game week window and spike, you know, two double digit halls. And also, like, you have to make your decision of how you're building your team. And there's a place for these guys. - Yeah, totally. - And Virgil's really good on bonus. And he, if you hold him for a while, he will hit some double digit halls 'cause he's gonna have an assist clean, he's gonna have a goal clean, he's gonna have a max bones, he's gonna have defcon, so yeah, they're all solid. And the keepers, I mean, 55 plus, there's only four here and it's kind of all the teams we've already been talking about, so. I mean, is there anything here? Is there anything, you know, Raya pick for, Raya six, pick for Dallas and Dunoruma, each 55 is there anything we need to like, get into here with these? - I mean, I think it's just an interesting one with Raya specifically because, you know, we obviously have, you know, Earl Urgek to some six million keeper, but. He finished last year at six two, you know, I mean, people forget that. And I know that was mostly down to everyone had so much money out there, fuck coming out of their fucking ass, I don't know what to do with it, but. - Yeah. - You know, I mean, he still just finishes first in goalkeeping like every year. So. - I mean, he's just definitely gonna do it again too, right, like we would both agree on that. - Yeah, it would take something unusual for him not to. So, you know, you could talk all you on about, you know, value and, you know, we're looking at getting four or five keepers and stuff like that. And, you know, how much, where do you put the one million into your squad? I mean, he's still just really good. And he's gonna get the most points at the position. And if you don't wanna like deal with some headaches of getting some four or five stain around a bad team who's gonna get, you know, 40 less points probably. - Yeah. - You got the worst million, million and a half to spend. - Yeah. - Like, if you just wanna go there and, you know, spend 10 on keeper instead of eight five. - Yeah. - And just get Raya, you know, you're gonna be probably happy with that in the grand scheme of things. - Especially on a first wild card. Like, yeah, sure, you don't wanna build your gaming one squad, but you wild card in four or five, whatever. - And when you have a better idea of who's who. - Yeah, like you want, you trying to pick someone who you're gonna be happy with for 20 plus game weeks? I mean, it's him. He's the guy. Very, very consistent and solid. And I pick for it also, 0.5 cheaper, is very, very consistent. He'll get his weird halls. He's an annoying prick, but he's good enough to yell. I mean, Allison is just not a pick with his injuries. - I was never available. - Yeah. And just Liverpool, I just feel like I have such a wide range of like, cleans or not cleans. I have no idea. But Donna Ruma, I feel like for all the reasons I said before when we were talking about City, is just, I'm interested. I mean, like, I wasn't really interested at all last year and I thought he was particularly horrendous at set pieces and commanding the area. If they kind of like, nerf set pieces a little bit, which maybe was a, you know, we got a preview of that in the World Cup. I think with Maresca and this team, like, yeah, they could just keep like 16 cleans and I just wouldn't be surprised even a little bit. It's possible. - I just feel like the 0.5 difference is in, I mean, things can change. We could be a game of eight and the landscapes, but I just feel like 0.5 difference between Ryan, these guys is just not enough. Like if I'm spending money on keeper, I'm just gonna get Ryan. Like I'm just not gonna, the only difference comes right now. If you're going with one of these guys for your like bench boost, Skameek 1 team, whatever, whatever. Obviously, Ryan has the best Skameek 1 fixture, but you really do not wanna be starting at Villa in home Chelsea, probably. If it's just this short term little thing, whereas like Donna Ruma at Palace, it's a tough away ground, but it's a new manager and then home Coventry and three. You just feel better about the three, I think, as a whole. - If we're looking at some opening diddle to figure out which one do we want for this small window before a while, we can put that up to one side. It's just, I'm just saying more like in general. - Totally. - Totally. - Yeah, Ryan, definitely better. - That's a tough one. - I mean, I like 6.5 almost, right? 'Cause it's just so much better than the others. - I think the prices are okay, 'cause I think it is interesting to consider and think about because people can get really fixated on 0.5. And honestly though, I think I prefer fuck for to Donna Ruma at 5.5. - Oh yeah. - I just feel like it's more. - It's more. - Yeah, it's the tarco thing all over again, right? It's the same manager and playing the same style with good center backs. And I know they lost Gunnage, but they got Hackney and Merlin looked okay last year and Garner, and they can still let in. - Moist, it's still there. - Yeah, like, it'd be nice if they had one good fullback ever, but they probably won't and they'll be the exact same team. That's just who they are. So yeah. - Yeah, but Ryan at right back again, yeah. - The only thing, like all I can tell from the BPS buff for keepers that they try to do is it seems like it's better for keepers who make a lot of saves versus not. So maybe, you know, Pickford probably doubles Raya saves every year because Raya never really has to make any saves. So maybe there's a world where like this is the year where Pickford gets his like, you know, 10 more bonus points over the course of a season. He had that one year at 22 bonus points and 23, 24 or something like that and finishes on 160. Like, I could see it. You know, of all of these teams, Pickford and Allison are the only ones that are gonna get a lot of saves. Ryan, Donna, Ruma play with like control managers and the whole idea is that they never have to make saves. - Yeah. And I mean, fuckford did have it. I mean, they felt 135 last year's down year. The two years before I had 158, 153. So, you know, yeah. - And I think those were probably most points. - They felt more, well, yeah, he usually finishes with the most. - Right, like, because Raya like missed some time or something and those were the, those were most of those years. So, yeah. - Yeah. - Um, I mean, I think that's roughly a premium episode. right? Yeah, that's everyone. That's everyone. So mid price next week is 5.0 keepers 5.0 to 5.5 defenders. You know where I'm starting next week. 7.0 to 7.5 mid builders and 6.5 to 7.5 forward. So a lot of guys. That's going to be a two. We might need a hop on early. That's going to be a two-hour job. Yeah, that's got to be like a daytime record I think because that's a fucking shit ton of players actually need to daytime that one. I think that's a pee break. That's a fucking pee break episode. That's how you know it's long. Yeah, okay. Let me slap asses our new Patreon signups. Quasicwack, Jake Sykes, Max, D'Souza and Simon. Yeah, as baby get in there. Sign up, like and subscribe on YouTube, get in discord. What's going on there? I don't know. Apparently YouTube is the only site that's not just like poison-pilled by some algorithm overlord and you can actually still discover new things on it. And so if people like and subscribe on YouTube, they might actually other people might actually see our podcast. Whereas on like TikTok or podcast apps or social media, it's just fucking- Do people listen to podcasts on TikTok? No, but like I post clips. I post clips on there and stuff because you have to and it's just it's all just such a nightmare. I mean, it's just brain off. You know, never see anything. Even with I have a viral clip that goes and it's fucking has a million views or something. We get zero bump in listeners. No one checks out the podcast. As I happen before, we've had a million views. I've had some viral ones. Yeah, baby. I'm big. Million? I'm huge. Well, I think the million one was actually wide-flank, but it's still all counted for me. This is Christ. Yeah, we've had some big ones, but YouTube on the other end, if people actually like and subscribe, we will actually get more listeners, which is amazing. So that's what we're trying to do here. Oh, that said, any last words, Vol. You know, I haven't made one tanker. Here's the last words. Yeah, that's kind of interesting. So it just means you haven't saved. That's what you mean, right? No, I haven't even made one. You haven't even dipped your time. I haven't even clicked. I'm doing something different this year. I like it. Usually by now, by the time we do the first pre-reimpaad, I would have had at least six saved images of different teams in my phone. I had a sneaking suspicion because usually on these episodes, you're like, tell me you're fucking midfield. You're like, okay, but who's in your forwards? As if my team is ready because you feel so good about your team. I knew something was up, and we found out what's up. I'm doing less drugs this year. Less drugs, less tankers. Yeah, your screenshot button is like, what's going on here? It's just my auto-pick team. I'm trying to turn that off so that I don't get too insane. I love that. I love that. Okay. I love that, mate. Good job, buddy. You check us out. And I feel like I'm also sure that I've found people supported. They're joining us. Sasha, we're gonna subscribe to the channel. That's good. [BLANK_AUDIO]

Podcast Summary

Key Points:

  1. The podcast discusses premium-priced forwards for the upcoming Fantasy Premier League season, focusing on Haaland (15.5m), Isak (9m), Ollie Watkins (8m), and Thiago (8m).
  2. Isak's price drop to 9m is seen as generous due to his injury history, but if fit, he is considered the second-most likely Golden Boot contender after Haaland.
  3. Haaland remains a near-automatic pick despite a new manager (Maresca) and tough early fixtures; starting without him is risky due to his explosive potential.
  4. Watkins at 8m is viewed as inconsistent, lacking penalties, and reliant on open-play goals, making him an uninspiring choice despite Villa's squad changes.
  5. Thiago is heavily criticized for his end-of-season collapse, reliance on penalties (13 last season), and poor team performance, with 8m deemed too high.

Summary:

The podcast hosts analyze the four premium forwards for the new FPL season. They begin with Isak, noting his price drop to 9m after an injury-plagued season. Despite concerns over his fitness, they argue he offers immense value when fit, rivaling Haaland for the Golden Boot.

5m is discussed as a must-start due to his consistent early-season hauls and City's favorable home fixtures, though a new manager introduces uncertainty.

FAQs

The four premium forwards are Erling Haaland at 15.5m, Alexander Isak at 9.0m, Ollie Watkins at 8.0m, and Thiago at 8.0m.

Yes, Isak is a good pick at 9.0m if fit, as he's the most likely to rival Haaland for the Golden Boot, though his injury history makes him risky.

Yes, it's generally recommended to start with Haaland because if he braces early without you owning him, it feels like your season is over, and he offers great flexibility.

Haaland's home fixtures are excellent, including Bournemouth, Coventry, Sunderland, and Ipswich, making most of them captain-friendly games.

Watkins is inconsistent and lacks penalties, which lowers his ceiling; he can blank for five games in a row, making him an uninspiring but decent pick.

Thiago is a flat-track bully who relies heavily on penalties, and his team ended last season poorly with little creation, so he's overpriced and hard to carry.
