Speaker 2I just have a really big heart for this to be part of your life, that it's been super hard on both of us to just figure it out and say it right and want to do it right and just figure it all out so that it's everything that needs to be said is said to you. And so I'm super thankful to be finally sitting here doing it because I feel like, you know, like crawling across the finish line to get it ready because it's so good. It's so good. And it's so necessary. Yeah. So we're talking about praying scripture today, just specifically scripture. And then in the next couple of weeks, we're going to go through like specific scriptures that we can pray through. But I don't know, like when we talk to you all about praying scripture, there's kind of like there's the, yeah, I don't really know at all. Never heard of that before. And then there's also like, you can do it. Oh, it just crawled off that.
Speaker 3It's a big, giant wasp. So scary. That's right.
Speaker 2She conquered it. Oh, it's dead. Mm-hmm. Okay. So. So a lot of
Speaker 3people have questions. Yeah. And it's like. I mean, pray scripture.
Speaker 2You've never heard it before. You're like, yeah, I, I like, I'll read a verse and then pray about it. And then there are some of you who, who understand this and have heard it. So it's kind of like all across the board. We've kind of heard like all different, different understandings of this, but it's really cool. Just when you understand praying scripture and the power that it has together with prayer is one of our weapons, which is what we talked about. And then the word of God is a weapon. And so, you know, putting those two things together. And store the spirit. Yes. That's what I was thinking in my head. And I was like, yeah, so we have that together and God meant for it to be used together. And I think that's something that the enemy kind of likes to kind of confuse, but also just kind of keep quiet because nobody really talks about the power of scripture unless you're around the people that do. But other than that, I think the majority, like as we've talked to y'all. Like y'all have kind of said that you don't really feel like anyone talks about praying scripture. So, and really for me, like, because, you know, we're the same age, but like when I was younger and you weren't younger, then like, I definitely didn't really, I guess I probably knew a little bit about it because I did like, I grew up with like the beginning of this, but it wasn't really a part of my life. And so it's definitely been a part of your life longer than it has been a part of my life. And like this, not the seriousness of it, but the importance of it. And I think we talked about how like the word of God, like is so alive and it's like life giving. And sometimes like you grow up feeling like praying is before a meal and before you go to bed and like maybe when you wake up in the morning.
Speaker 3And that's the religion part of it.
Speaker 2Yeah. And then like you pray at church, you pray at weddings, you pray at funerals. But like other than that, it's just really boring. And like you fall asleep praying. And like all of those kinds of things, like, you know, you're supposed to, but it feels like it's supposed to. Yeah. Right. And then, but then when you have the word of God and you're praying the word of God and you're actually like entering into this relationship, like everything we talked about our first couple of videos in this series is like, this is like life giving conversation relationship.
Speaker 3Yes. Because John 1, 1 says in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. That's one of my favorites. So
Speaker 2when you are praying
Speaker 3scripture, like we've said before, you are praying God and you are allowing God to breathe through you. And also Psalm 120 verse three says that the angels obey his word. And so when you are speaking scripture, you are like the angels that are around you just have to have to move because they obey his word. And so that's. And that's what we're going to get into is the how to change the trajectory of your life through your relationship, walking and talking with Jesus as the word every day, not just praying because you have to because you're a Christian or praying because we say the blessing before meal, but incorporating, but allowing the word to be your relationship with Jesus.
Speaker 2Yeah. On like human level, it's like those conversations that you like have to have and the people you have to talk to and like you have to get things done. So you have to do this. And then there's like your best friend that you love to talk to and talk to all the time. And like after y'all talk, it's like so much fun and everything's fun. And then you walk away and you like feel so much better about yourself. That's like the difference in religion, prayer and like the prayer that we actually have in the Holy Spirit. Because it's like the life. It's like the life giving and then the like dreading, like, you know, let's open up to page blah, blah and read this that we don't even understand what it means. And it has a bunch of big words and yeah.
Speaker 3But Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. And Jesus is the word because of John 1, 1, what that verse says. So that's why when you pray scripture, you are rejuvenated and your spirit is connecting with Holy Spirit who you were meant to have relationship with the father, the son. And the spirit. So we just, we get to live this. And that's why Jesus said, I came so that you can have life more abundantly because, you know, he entered into this relationship with us. He is. And so that's, that's the part that we're going to dig into and how to actually grow into all the potential that we have.
Speaker 2Yeah. And John 3, 30, it says like, we must, we must decrease as he increases. And so we talked a lot about like, as we pray scripture, we're really like taking our flesh and we're exchanging it for Christ in spirit. And so, um, and renewing our mind. Yes. Like Paul says. Yeah. So I thought about like the spirit. Well, it's in Galatians five is really like the whole thing. And it says, walk by the spirit and you will certainly not carry out the desire of the flesh. So when we think about like, praying, we've talked about, or we will talk about how we have talked about like spirit in scripture, but also like we have the flesh too of like the physical of like raising our hands and saying it out loud. So I was thinking how it's cool how when we, when we, um, walk under the authority of, is this the right way? I feel like you say this. When we walk under the authority of scripture, then like our, our physical comes in. To what's that word? They always say like in agreement with like, you know, like we,
Speaker 3we're walking in confidence in the authority of scripture over all things because knowing that Jesus said it is finished. And when Jesus said it is finished on the cross and then, you know, God has put his word in print so that 2000 years later, I mean, we still have it. It's still true. Yeah. And so when we, when we know God's word and the truth that it is, then we allow that power to overcome our flesh.
Speaker 2Yeah. So I was thinking that this is all in my mind of like how, when we pray scripture, like we said, it like makes you a lot like it is life to us. And then like, as we continue to do that, like, it's weird at first to like pray out loud and like raise your hands and just like all of a sudden that you always talk about like it, it feels weird. It feels weird at first, but then like, just do it as we continue, like in the spirit, like that's when our, when our physical, like it comes in, whatever you just said, like it comes into like alignment with like, it starts to not only like, it's just, it's what you want to do.
Speaker 3Right. Because, you know, years and years ago when I started doing this and I was sitting in my closet and I was praying and, and then I heard somebody said, you need to raise your hands when you're, when you're worshiping. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I didn't really do it at church first. but I started doing in my closet and so I just you know put my hands up and I said praise you Jesus I love you so much and just the things I say well then at church he's like why don't you put your arms up here why are you not gonna do it here but you don't do in your closet and I was like okay you're right so I close my eyes and again it doesn't matter what anybody else is doing because we we are in worship and I know that's different in different settings and it's all your again this is a growth progressive relationship with the Lord and and he's gonna meet you where you are and you're just honest with them you don't do something because somebody says you're supposed to you know that's law but you talk to Jesus about it you talk to Holy Spirit and growing them we say we do it because we've had those conversations so again and the more you do it the more you get used to doing it and you just realize that there's you just realize that there's a lot of things that are happening in your life that you just realize that there's a lot of things that are happening in your life there's actually a different joy that you get when you don't think about anything else but worshiping Jesus who who did every hard thing for us yeah he endured it all for us
Speaker 2yeah and it's I was thinking about like how our actions and our words are like the overflow of our heart and so like that's kind of what happens when I mean it doesn't just happen when you're like just praying straight scripture but it really does like that because the word is alive and makes us alive and gives us life like that's the life that is breathed into us makes us life like that's the life that is breathed into us and like that's when and like that's when and like that's when like our our actions become so like your like our our actions become so like your like our our actions become so like your hands just go up and like they just they hands just go up and like they just they hands just go up and like they just they go out when you're praying for people go out when you're praying for people go out when you're praying for people and you just I mean there's times where and you just I mean there's times where and you just I mean there's times where like I'm maybe not praying for someone like I'm maybe not praying for someone but I'm, like, with people who are praying with them, and then all of a sudden, like, my hand's on that person, and I'm like, I didn't even ask this person for me to touch them, but, like, I've always grown up, like, you just put your hands on people that you're praying for.
Speaker 3Because there's a verse that says you lay hands on people.
Speaker 2Yeah, and it's just, like, I remember the first time, like, that my hands, and I grew up worshiping, like, with our hands up more, like, than, I mean, we did, like, I would do it in the car and stuff, but I didn't grow up, like, doing it in my quiet time, like you've taught me, and so, like, it's cool to see it's kind of the opposite, I guess, for me, because I, like, grew up with it, like, as our outward expression, but it wasn't ever something that I, like, really did on my own, except, like, we did it, I mean, I would do it in the car with, like, music playing, but I guess what I'm trying to say is, like, it's different when you're doing it, too, like, without music, because you're still worshiping.
Speaker 3It's a choice to use your whole body to worship.
Speaker 2Yeah, and, like, standing and, like, hands up and hands out and hands on, and, like, there's just so many things that just, like, it's just, like, we get so excited at football games, like, I mean, I know everyone uses it, and, like, it's kind of overused sometimes, but, I mean, there's so many times where we get so outwardly excited that, like, we can't, like, you're screaming and yelling, and your hands are up, and you're jumping up and down, and, like, before you know it, you're, like, falling off the bleachers, and, like, we have those expressions, and, like, that's what. It is possible. Yeah, when we're completely, like, alive in the Word of God and in the Spirit, like, and we have that, like, experience in prayer, like, you just can't help but, like, outwardly express it, which is really cool, and I think a lot of that power comes from when we pray Scripture, because that is, that's the power that He gave us. So, that was a lot of just outwardly stuff, but I think it's important just because a lot of people don't, don't talk about that, and it is something that's, like, so freeing and life-giving in our prayer life, because it really is in, like, Galatians 5. It's just talking about the fruit of the Spirit, which we know is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. The law is not against such things, now that those who belong to Christ Jesus have been crucified, the flesh with its. who have crucified the flesh, with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another. So, it's just really cool how, like, as we walk with the Spirit, like, we become aligned and in tune to the Spirit. That's right. And that's really what praying Scripture is. It's just bringing our flesh in tune with the Holy Spirit and what He wants for our lives.
Speaker 3And the plans that God the Father has, what He wants for you. Mm-hmm. And so, God's will for you is in Scripture. Yeah. And so, as you pray God's will over your life, that is how you become more like Jesus. So, we want to talk about that. Yeah. So, here's kind of, like, if you've ever wondered, well, what are they talking about? How do I do that? I mean, there's not a formula, but there kind of is a formula. It's just kind of how you. It's just how you think about things. Because, like we said before, when you know that Scripture is the final authority over everything, and Jesus said, it is finished, everything you pray in here for yourself is going to eventually happen. You know, like, we say the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Okay. Okay. Well, as the Spirit grows in, you are going to have those things. So, again, I've, you know, told y'all so many times, when I would find myself lacking one of those things in any kind of situation, whether it was while I was driving, or, you know, with someone I know, or with one of my children, or whatever, if I didn't have joy, I would say, I would first remember, you know, that this situation does not have to be forever. You know, I will not always be sad, or, just in general, or I will not always be fearful. I don't have, you know, it's not, the situations around me don't define me, and they will not dictate the future. They won't stay that way forever, because, because God said He's given us everything that we need for a life of love and godliness. And so, I always measure where I am against how Jesus is, and, you know, how He would, live in a certain circumstance, or situation. And so, I would say, you know, I'm feeling this way about something, and I would talk to, I would pray about the situation, I would just tell it like it was, you know, what's going on, how I'm feeling, and then I'd say, so, you know, Lord, please take all my impatience, all my fear, all my, whatever you're feeling in that situation, and take it, because I know that it was all put on the cross, because that's what Corinthians says. I love that verse. I think it's, oh wait, don't turn, because I'm, don't turn yours. Yes, it's 1 Corinthians. Nope, it's Colossians. So, it's Colossians, 2 that says, when we were dead in our sins, and in the uncircumcision of our sinful nature, God made us alive with Christ, and He forgave all our sins, and canceled the written code with its regulations that was against us, and stood opposed to us, and He took it and nailed it to the cross, and disarmed the powers and authorities, and made a public spectacle of them triumphing over them by the cross. So, you say, I'm feeling these ways, but I know that I'm not. I know that I'm not supposed, that, it's not that, hold on. I'm feeling these ways, so please take these feelings and replace them with your truth. You know, just take my emotions, take my yuck, because that's our flesh, okay? Like, it's okay for us to feel stuff, but that's our flesh, because at the same time, Jesus said, don't be offended. You know, and that is the ultimate, that's our goal, is to never be offended by someone else's sin because Jesus wasn't. And because when we're offended, we're thinking about what we're not getting that we're supposed to be getting. Like, they're not being respectful of me, and so we get mad. Or, they cut in line, so we get mad. Or, they took my spot, and we get mad. Okay, so the ultimate goal is to not be offended, but to love like Jesus loves in every situation. And so, wherever you're failing, you say, please take my blood, because you've already put it on the cross, and give me your love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control, whatever you need, fill in the blank. And you just say, Holy Spirit, thank you that you are these things in me. And then you can do that for fear, and say, I will not be anxious about the situation, because your peace that surpasses all understanding keeps my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Thank you, Father, for your peace that keeps me, that keeps my heart and mind in Christ. And so, you just really take your situation, and you find the scripture in your concordance. that you need to apply to it and then you do you pray it over that part of your life
Speaker 2yeah and like we don't always tell you use the bible app but some of some of you like might not have the concordance in the back of your bible or i know like it's it's where y'all are like you have the bible app so i mean if use it but also keep your bible like don't ever just have your bible app but i mean we are thankful that you have access to that on your phone and um and so you can always type in a word into that bible app and it's going to pull up every bible verse that it has like with that word in it and it's super convenient and um and that's really a good a good place to start too it also brings up like a bunch of other like there's plans for that word and videos you can watch and things like that so it really does it's a good resource to have but definitely don't ever not use your own bible um sometimes i like to use that for like a resource but also take those verses that it pulls up and still go to my bible and read them from my bible and make notes like in my bible just so that i can have that but that's always a good um a good place to to go for y'all that have your phones and your bible app um just to be able to type in like if you're struggling like and if you're struggling with just fear i mean if you're struggling with fear not just fear but like if don't just type in fear like type in peace and like type in what is the opposite yeah type in the truth struggling with yeah and that's really where you want to pray like you don't i mean you can pray like help me not to be afraid and like pray those scriptures that say do not be afraid but also make sure you're praying the scriptures that are talking about peace and how jesus left us his perfect peace and like you know all of that i know
Speaker 3i just want to find all the ones to i know to pray i just want to turn to all of them um say i will not fear because i have not been given a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind yeah um i will not sorrow for the joy of the lord is my strength and and again you know make your note cards the things you struggle with um here was one i made a long time ago um i just didn't know where you know not that i didn't know where my life was going i just wanted to make sure that i was going in god's direction and so i just love what he says about what he's done so i made a note card with isaiah 42 verses six through eight says i the lord have called you in righteousness i will take hold of your hand i will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the gentiles to open eyes that are blind and to free captives from prison and y'all i'm laughing about this i haven't read this in so long but but i was probably reading this back in like 2006 and 2008 and as i continue to read his word his heart that what he's done for me has made me want to do this for other people and so that's why um and i'll finish reading it says i will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the gentiles to open eyes that are blind to free captives from prison and to release from the darkness of the darkness of the darkness i am the lord that is my name and we know that like this is what isaiah was speaking to the israelites and god called the israelites out and he you know jesus was the way he pulled them out but as we read this truth over our lives it's the same for us as it was for the israelites so we can sit there and we can pray his heart for our lives to be this um light for others and so again like when i was a teenager or whatever i had not really felt god's call on my life yet but when i started having children i did and it was really all him working a little bit day after day after day so if you're not where you want to be or you don't even know where you want to be yet that's okay you know i mean all you have to remember and pray for over your life is thank you lord that you have plans for me and i'm going to pray for you and i'm going to pray for you and i'm going to pray for you and i'm going to pray for you and i'm going to pray for you and not to harm me plans to give me hope in a future and you don't have to have that plan all written out like i had no idea i remember my boss sat me down one time in my um evaluation and he looked at me and i was probably like 24 years old i was the big 24 years old and he said where do you see yourself in five years and i was like i don't know like what does that mean you know like some people have the plan and other people's don't people don't other people don't and that's okay because when you are when you're framing your every day with god's word he's the one that has the plan and he will open the doors and he will close the wrong doors he'll open the right doors but what he wants the most is the relationship with you yeah and so as we're going through this i know it sometimes sounds like we're repeating ourselves in these videos but it's because it's the truth yeah it's the core truth of what we do and um we're going to get into this in the psalms but just find i think the best place to start is find a verse um there's a um oh that's in a different book
Speaker 2i think if we if we do repeat ourselves it's really because of matthew 6 33 like the key to life with christ and all god godliness is to seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and like he promises like matthew 6 is about all the it's the lord's prayer and all the things that we worry about and then he ends it with like if you'll just follow me and like do what i like not only like what he's calling us to do but if we just follow the example of christ and we live like in his righteousness and have that like right place with god then like he's going to give us everything like my favorite translation of it is like he's going to give us every like he's going to provide for us everything we need and um and like that's really if you just take that one verse and it's not
Speaker 3going to be like a big thing of fireworks no like it's daily living every single
Speaker 2day and being able to look back and say like you know what it hasn't been perfect it hasn't been easy not everything has been like fireworks and butterflies and but it's all been really good and he's been faithful through all of it and like you can look back and see which is like sorry i don't mean to interrupt you but i was thinking about like even like just have like if you i was thinking about when you're talking about like not knowing where your life is and like whoever you are watching this video whatever stage of life you are like there are like where you didn't feel it until like you were a mom and had kids and like watched this video and you're like oh my god i'm not going to watch that and like you knew you wanted to give it to others too like for me like i have a i have journals that i wrote in like my whole middle school high school like i had no clue but like i knew i wanted to be in ministry somehow but i wrote down like it's it was once and it's like give me a heart for middle school girls and i know i've told y'all that before but like i don't even remember writing that i remember not liking middle schoolers but i don't remember writing that i don't remember wanting that and i don't remember praying that but i found it in a like when i was in college after i'd started girl talk and like i was like what like this is not and so like i mean you told me all the time like and i'm i've gotten really bad at it because i'm now i'm such a like i have to be a perfectionist to write down anything but like you really don't like just get a get a journal and just write down all your prayers like one word sentences paragraphs bullet points like whatever it is because it's so cool to just be able to go back and look and say like i'm not going to be a perfectionist i'm going to be a perfectionist i'm going to be a perfectionist like i had no clue what i was doing or praying or had no clue where life was going to go because pretty much we can both tell you that like whatever you think you're planning that's not not going to be it like even if you do end up going to college you always wanted getting married having kids like even if it is like the skeleton of what you thought life was going to be like your daily life is not going to be what you ever thought and it's going to be the coolest part is getting to that and being like you know what this isn't any place where i ever thought but i can see my prayers and i can see god's work and i can see exactly what he has done and what he's planned and it's all been ephesians 3 20 like better than you could ask or imagine like immeasurably more and like that's really you know the essence of girl talk in our life and all of it and so so as i was flipping through here i
Speaker 3was like this would be a good one just a good um you know a good prayer um to pray over yourself well i think we all want wisdom i think we all you know want to be the wise person because i mean usually a life well lived is a life lived with wisdom but did you know that there are two kinds of wisdom there's worldly wisdom and then wisdom from heaven and so um a while back i thought i found uh in james verse one no chapter one verses five and six james one james one james one five and six when i was studying
Speaker 2that for like four weeks straight and i kept saying james one and you're like james one are you reading
Speaker 3that and i was like yeah i love james one james one starts out with being thankful for trials yeah that's a good one for when you're going through hard times you can turn that one into a prayer um so james one five and six talks about wisdom says if any of you lacks wisdom he should ask god who gives generously to all without finding fault and it will be given to him so i kind of turn that into a prayer and i say father i just want wisdom i want wisdom because at this point i had children and i knew that i did not have what it what it took to be a mom because i had a single mom she didn't raise we never went to church you know there's just lots of there i had lots of junk from growing up and so i didn't want i just wanted to be a good mom and i didn't know how to do that because i never not that my mom wasn't a mom but i just you know there were other things that i saw that i wanted so i just wanted to know how to do that and so i said lord i just want wisdom father please give me wisdom because your word and i thank you that your word says that you give wisdom generously to all who ask without finding fault and that was my prayer for wisdom and well then he showed me that wisdom that comes from heaven is pure then peace loving then considerate then submissive then full of mercy and some other things i'm going to stop with those because as you're praying for wisdom you can also say father i just pray for the wisdom of heaven that is pure and peace loving and considerate and submissive please help me have that wisdom thank you that you freely give wisdom the wisdom of heaven to all who ask without finding fault and so as you continue to pray for that which is i think is one of the best prayers because you know god was overjoyed when solomon who became king at 17 when that was the thing that he asked for he could have asked for anything in the world more money more respect more fame more honor but he knew that he was about to rule over a whole kingdom and he just wanted to know how to take care of the people well and that is god's heart is to take care of his people well because that's what he's done for us with jesus and holy spirit so when we pray for wisdom that's the best thing we can pray for so um and then we thank him thank you for giving me the wisdom that comes from heaven that is pure and peace loving and considerate and submissive and so on and so again as you pray that day after day after day you'll see how all of a sudden stuff that comes out of your mouth you never would have thought of you know there's there are situations when people ask me questions and i just start talking about something i'm like who said that that was not me yeah but he does that through you to bless others because that's why we were created yeah we were created to share his love to show his love to others who need it and i remember i
Speaker 2used to like when i was in middle school in high school we had instant messenger and it's like you know texting on the internet and I would like get into conversations with people and like lead them to Christ and like not even know like I'm like what I go to school with these people like what am I doing and like I don't even know like why we started talking or like what but it ended up it was always about like how can I pray for you what's going on and like I would always like growing up I always had people telling me like what their problems were and like how they needed prayer and everything but I just remember there are so many times where like people that I didn't even talk to at school I would end up like leading them to Christ like on instant messenger through just like really hard things that they were going through and then when I got done I would be like what what did I just do and why did I just do that like that's and so yeah it's definitely it's cool because it's it's everything that we're talking about like when you fill yourself with Jesus and you fill yourself with scripture like that that's
Speaker 3what comes out yes another good one to pray is Ephesians 1 17 through 20 which I know y'all have heard this before but when you actually start saying these things over your own life every day that's where this is where Holy Spirit just fills you and again you just change it's just I mean it's just what he does and and I used to remember um I remember I used to just go through something I wouldn't handle it the right way and I would go back in my prayer time or not even just prayer time I would just be so sad that I did something because I didn't I didn't want to be that way you know he was already working in me and giving me his desires and here I am just blowing it in a certain situation and so I go back um which again is godly sorrow that he gives us if you want to pray for godly sorrow not just the sorrow that the world gives because that's just being sorry that you got it wrong and so I would just go back and I would just go back and I would pray for godly sorrow because I thought um or that you got in trouble for something so we want godly sorrow and so we go back and we we say oh lord please take this it's so gross take my sin and give me your righteousness and there's a verse it says may your love I think it's Philippians 1 9 through 11 it says may your love abound in knowledge and depth of insight so that you may be pure and blameless filled with the fruit of righteousness all to the glory of god so that you may be able to discern what is best I think I just got it backwards but it's that one and so as you pray that for yourself you know that is the kind of prayers that command the angels and they have to obey so as you're praying those for yourself and your friend can we find that Philippians 1 9 through 11 and this is my prayer that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight so that you may be able to discern what is best I think I just got it backwards so that you may be able to discern what is best and be pure and blameless filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of god so those are the kind of things if you look through we'll go over this more but when you pray the gospels when you pray Paul's letters to his people that's God's heart for you that's God's plan for you that's God's will for you for you to be true to yourself and to your family and to your family and to your family and to your family and to your family and to your family and to your family and transform to his word because his word is Jesus and so when you pray those things that's the kind of stuff you're praying over and over every day those are the things you want to make note cards out of so that your heart can be changed and and and again don't don't just wait for a Speaker 3words right right and that's what i love about um james three it's it talks about taming the tongue and that's what i was about to say i know that's what we we we have this because james three talks about how the tongue you you bless and curse with the same tongue and you have the ability to set a forest on fire and it says verse six says the tongue also is a fire a world of evil among the parts of the body it corrupts the whole person and sets the whole course of his life on fire and is itself set on fire by hell you can say that okay so if it can do that yeah with our words that's why we don't pray our words right that's why we don't leave ourself to our flesh yeah that's why we replace this you with god's word because if we have the power to do this it says um i mean it just keeps going down and talk about that but but again we have the power to change we are like the rudder of the boat so that's why you pray scripture and not your own words and lord please help me lord please help me because again when you're saying like lord please help me not be mad at this person well all you're still focused on is the power of the word you say jesus take my anger because it's already been paid for by the cross you've already taken it on the cross when you said it is finished and you've got your holy spirit in me so thank you for your peace in me so you thank him for what he's already done thank you that i'm full of your forgiveness thank you that i'm full of your peace and your love and your goodness and faithfulness and gentleness and self-control thank you that i am full of your love and your goodness and self-control thank you that i am full of your love and your goodness and self-control so you that's why when we were talking about walking in the spirit earlier you set your mind on what the spirit desires that's why you memorize scripture and so when you set your mind on what the spirit desires you walk in the spirit which is galatians 5 yeah okay so you're you're walking in the spirit and living by the spirit and that's galatians 5 16 is where and then you don't set you don't gratify satisfy or walk in the desires of the sinful man okay so that's that's how you and even if you're not 10 years old if you're not you know even if you're 25 years old and you have never done this before you can stop the cycle of whatever your family is like you know so many people say well you know pawpaw was just he was an angry man you know and and there are and i'm not making light of anything like there are tons of horrible situations that people find themselves in every day and god is is talking to you saying you don't have to live that way every in anymore you don't have to be like your dad you don't have to be like your mom you don't have to be like your grandmom you don't have to be like your sister and you don't and i am living proof because i did not grow up in a christian home my mom was a single mom she was an alcoholic you know i there was a lot of junk but god showed me a better way and and holy spirit taught me how to do this because all i did was just want more of him and so before there was youtube or books or or any of these things it was me and holy spirit and my bible and i just wanted something better and i knew there was something better so no matter where you are in life um it's not too late it's never too late there is always forgiveness jesus came for all of us that no man should perish but should have everlasting life and it just it just gives me every time because um because he did he he the one who is in you this one who is in you when he is in you is greater than he who is in the world and you can you can have hope you can be healed and you can be restored because he wants to restore the years of locusts have eaten and there are um if you finders yourself in that situation the book of joel is a great one where is it um the book of joel is his restoration of israel when he the book of joel is where he talks is is where joel um prophesied to the people and the locusts came and invaded them and and he called the people to repent and because he's like look all this stuff is happening and it's it's just the consequences of sin is really what it is and so he um called them to repent and so they god said i will drive the northern army far from you pushing it into the parched and barren land and so he just continues to go throughout chapter two talking about all the wonderful things that he wants to do for his people so if you haven't read that yet um it's a good one it's a good point and i'm going to read it to you and i'm going to promise for what god wants to do in your life so uh and i love it i love it
