Post-Hype Sleepers, Ashton Jeanty’s Injury, and Deshaun Watson Named the Starter
91m 53s
The Ringer Fantasy Football Show hosts Danny Heifetz and Danny Kelly, joined by Craig, discuss fantasy football sleepers and recent NFL news. They begin with Ashton Jeanty’s ankle injury, noting it’s likely a sprain but stressing the importance of the diagnosis: a low ankle sprain keeps him around the 18th-20th overall pick, while a high ankle sprain could drop him to the fourth or fifth round due to risks of reduced explosiveness and missed time. They also evaluate backup Mike Washington as a handcuff option. The main segment focuses on post-hype sleepers—players whose stock has fallen but who could rebound. Marvin Harrison Jr. is highlighted as a potential value in the eighth round despite past struggles, with a better offensive fit under new coordinator Mike LaFleur. R.J. Harvey (Broncos) is praised for his receiving role and red-zone usage, while Bucky Irving (Buccaneers) is seen as a buy-low after an injury-plagued 2025. Matthew Golden (Packers) and Roman Dunsay (Bears) are also discussed as cheap dart throws with starting roles. Deeper sleepers include Juwan Johnson (Saints), a consistent tight end with top-eight upside, and Jalen McMillan (Buccaneers), who could emerge as a top target. The hosts criticize the Browns’ quarterback situation, avoiding their players due to Deshaun Watson’s poor performance and negative vibes. Finally, Cousin Sal joins to outline harsher fantasy draft punishments for the league, aiming to make them severe enough to influence draft strategy.
Welcome to the Ringer Fantasy Football Show.
My name is Danny Heifetz and I am joined in person in Los Angeles by Danny Kelly.
My guys.
We're here.
We're in Los Angeles.
We're going over post-type sleepers and we're going over some deep sleepers too, but we're
going to just, it's that time of year.
A couple of things from preseason week two, we're going to have Cousin Sal join us at
the end of the show to go over the punishments for the Netflix Ringer Fantasy Football live
draft.
We will be live on Netflix with the Ringer League with, let's see, can I do this?
Bill Simmons, Dave Chang, us three, Sean Fantasy, Chris Ryan, Mallory Rubin, Tate Frazier, Cousin
Sal, Joe House, Van Lathan, that's 12.
That might be it.
That might be it.
Maybe someone else.
Maybe I forgot.
So yeah, that is live on Netflix, 11 a.m. Pacific, 2 p.m. Eastern.
Check it out.
It's going to be fun.
We're doing the draft room punishments thing.
We're going to make them way worse this year.
Sal's going to come on later.
We'll talk about that.
And we have a live show on Thursday, August 27th.
Yeah.
At the Fonda here in Hollywood.
Few tickets left.
Come join us.
We'll say what's up.
It'll be very fun.
Tickets in the description of this episode, or you can go to ringer.com slash events.
All right.
We're in person the next two weeks.
We're going to go through sleepers and Ash and Jenty injuring his ankle in a moment.
But first, we're going to take a quick break.
This episode is presented by Verizon.
Let me tell you all about Verizon's new simplicity plan.
You get one plan, one price, just $30 a line per month, even for a single line.
So while everyone is running for trade analyzers before offering a backup tight end, Verizon
said one plan, one price.
Sometimes the simplest move is the best one.
Like the simplicity plan.
Head to Verizon.com today.
For new customers, $30 per line includes auto pay and switch discount.
Additional taxes, fees, and terms apply.
Unlimited data is restricted to on-device smartphone usage.
Domestic data roaming at 2G speed.
All right.
We're going to go over post-type sleepers, deep sleepers.
But first, Ash and Jenty hurt his ankle at practice on Sunday.
Danny Kelly, this sucks for a lot of reasons.
There was a five-hour window we thought Jenty was really hurt, but that's maybe a lesson in perhaps why.
Social media is not just immediately to be believed.
There was a lot of catastrophizing online.
I thought this man's leg fell off.
And then 12 hours later, it's like, it appears to be just a normal ankle injury.
He's going to be all right.
I'm like, what the fuck?
What's going on online?
The report that came out, and this is not like anyone was making things up.
Like the team got together after the injury, stopped practice.
They gathered everyone together.
People were weeping.
They started, they like were on a knee praying for this man.
It's literally like.
He sprained his ankle.
The internet now with stuff like this, because for a lot of people, it's like, I don't know.
I don't know.
I don't know.
For a lot of reasons, it's just literally a game of telephone.
You're like, Ashton Jenty's hurt.
It's like, I heard Jenty's hurt.
I heard everyone's crying.
I heard people gather up.
He's out for the season.
They medevaced.
He was in a helicopter.
And I'm like, and then Schefter's like, his ankle sprained.
And I'm like, okay.
Sprained ankle is just sounds so benign.
I've never seen a false alarm injury quite like this.
I know.
This is up there.
There was like a five hour point where he was falling down.
Like people were sharing like screen grabs where he was going in the 11th round.
I know.
It's funny now that people got Ashton Jenty in the 11th round.
They're going to win the league.
The thing is, people just be like, oh, he's hurt.
I guess he's out for the season.
I'm like, we need to go back to a morning edition and a late edition of a newspaper.
It used to be a morning one, late one.
That's it.
We need to go back.
I'm nostalgic for those days.
Cronkite.
Yeah.
Let's bring him back.
With that said.
An hour a day.
That's all I need.
Good night and good luck.
We have to figure out.
Actually, that wasn't Cronkite, but whatever.
I wouldn't know.
We have to figure out where we're going to rank Ashton Jenty now.
And Mike Washington Jr., his backup.
And also Dylan Lobby, who's like kind of the passing down back guy.
And here's the problem.
Adam Schefter said it's an ankle sprain for Ashton Jenty.
Not a long-term injury.
I feel like long-term injury in Adam Schefter parlance is like, he didn't break his ankle.
He's not out for the season.
It's not a surge at the end of the year.
Like, I think even if it was a high ankle sprain, Adam Schefter would be saying it's
not a long-term injury.
So the question is, like, is it a low ankle sprain, which Ashton Jenty might be practicing
again within seven days or 10 days if it's a low ankle sprain, and he'll probably be
fine for week one.
But if it's a high ankle sprain, now Ashton Jenty might be practicing again within seven
days, might miss week one, might miss week two, might have his explosiveness really taken
from him for the entire first half of the season, look like a different, lesser player
if it's a high ankle sprain, and be the worst case of, like, you're going to play him and
he won't really be that good.
So that's the difference between Ashton Jenty dropping from, like, our 12th player to, like,
maybe 18th if he's a low ankle sprain or 20th.
And if he's a high ankle sprain, we're going to drop him, like, rounds and maybe two or
three, four rounds.
And so we need to figure out what we're going to do, but let's just say for a second we
find out.
We find out it's a low ankle sprain.
Do you guys agree with me?
I think Ashton Jenty, we should put him, like, 18th to 20th, which is basically he, behind
the top 10 running backs, he now falls to the bottom of the tier of O'Meara and Hampton,
behind Chase Brown and the Bengals, behind Derrick Henry on the Ravens, behind Ken Walker
on the Chiefs.
Hampton?
Yeah, I think he's the bottom of those running backs because he's hurt and he's already
strike two because strike one is that the Raiders are not expected to be a high scoring
team and the other guys are.
So I think if he's a low ankle sprain, now it's like, it's Jenty versus Brock Bowers,
Jenty versus. You know, Nico Collins, Drake London, AJ Brown, Trey McBride.
Like, does that sound roughly correct to you guys?
Yeah, I think because we have limited information right now, if you're drafting tonight or tomorrow
or something like that, I do think you have to play it a little safe and push him from
a late first rounder to a second rounder.
So I agree.
There's kind of like a top 12 running backs, in our opinion, that kind of we feel like
you need to get two of.
I think he remains in that tier.
He's just at the bottom of it.
So yeah, we had him going at the end of the first.
Now it should go like mid-second, mid to late second.
And then obviously, that's to me even if it's like a low ankle.
Because I get nervous.
If it's a high ankle sprain and he might miss a couple weeks or up to a month or something
like that, he's significantly falling just because the chances of him coming back to
full health with a high ankle sprain.
We've seen what happened to guys like CeeDee Lamb last year.
It's really, really difficult.
If you guys find DK, if it's a high ankle sprain and he's expected to come back week
two to four, where are you putting him?
That's a really good question.
I'm dropping him down.
I mean, look, this is kind of what we're dealing with with Jarvis.
We're dealing with Jeremiah Love, who has a high ankle sprain, and he dropped in our
rankings at least a round, maybe two rounds.
He's now a fourth rounder.
He was a third rounder.
So I don't know.
Down.
Is he in that range, the Jeremiah Love range?
Yes, I think so.
And I think that it's hard because the Jeremiah Love thing is pretty similar because they're
both on bad teams.
We don't know how the run game is going to look.
I think that Clint Kubiak is going to elevate this run game and elevate this offense overall.
But you still have massive questions.
This was already question marks for Ashton Genting.
And some people.
Some people thought maybe he's even too high based on just the team environment.
And now you add in this injury.
You add in the fact that he's probably going to be sapped of some of the explosiveness
when he does get back.
May never look like himself this season at all.
Which happens all the time.
I think you have to drop him.
You have to drop him down.
You know, I don't know exactly where, but like, are you taking Javante Williams over
him now?
If it is a high ankle sprain?
I think realistically, I'm taking the receivers in those range now.
Like, we probably rank him behind Javante Williams if it's a high ankle sprain.
Just because, again, things like that.
They can be managed during the season, but they're not necessarily healing.
Like, you're playing in NFL season.
CeeDee Lamb is a great example of this.
The beginning of week three.
CeeDee Lamb came out red hot last year.
And then the beginning of week three, first quarter, he gets a high ankle sprain.
Wasn't really himself for like a couple months.
And ended up having his worst season statistically since he was a rookie.
But like, I mean, Odell Beckham had a high ankle sprain.
It was never the same.
Saquon Barkley lost like basically a year of his career to a high ankle sprain.
Michael Thomas had a high ankle sprain and barely played football ever again.
That's a higher grade high ankle sprain.
And there was surgery stuff.
But like, even a low grade affects you.
And I think if it's a high ankle, I'm like, I just don't want to take him.
So, I think we should put Jenty in a place, frankly, where you don't want to take him.
I think he's below like Luther Burton.
I think he's like a fringe top 50 player if Ashton Jenty has a high ankle sprain.
Because, again, it's like the moment you have him, if he misses games, then he comes back.
And then he might just not be himself.
He's not going to play as much.
It's just like the kind of thing you never want to be in that situation.
And the other problem with high ankle sprains, it's not like, well, in two months he'll be better.
It's not quite that simple.
And there's a risk of re-injury.
I do think like fourth, fifth round, I think, is reasonable if he has a high ankle sprain.
I mean, you're not going to be happy with him on your team.
It's going to be kind of an annoying run with him.
Literally.
And the other problem with high ankle, and again, it saps your explosiveness.
It's kind of like the space gym.
It takes what makes you special.
And if there's any re-aggravation of it, then it's like now he has to miss a lot of time.
So, I just don't want to deal with that on my team.
I just, generally speaking, if you have healthy players or hurt players, I kind of just don't want to accrue injured players on my team.
We should talk about Michael.
Mike Washington, now the backup, the rookie who has really popped for the Raiders,
who has really popped in preseason and has busted a couple of huge runs.
A guy who kind of has had—
He's busted them.
He busted some runs.
He made his runs bust.
But kind of a weird guy coming out of college.
He's like a big guy, super fast 40, but like a lot of the underlying metrics around him
were that maybe he's not like the best pure runner.
Yeah.
And now, with this Genti injury and what we've kind of seen already,
the little glimpses of the Kubiak scheme and Mike Washington,
what he's done, looking super explosive.
They have Dylan Lauby.
Laub?
How do you say it?
I think it's Lauby, but who do I know?
The way that they pronounce it on the game broadcast yesterday or whenever was crazy.
It was like—
They made it like four syllables.
I can't even remember how they say it.
Lauby?
Lauby.
Laubywee.
Is Mike Washington now a surefire person that you should 100% draft?
Is he like an official handcuffed draft pick?
I think he has to be at least until we have the diagnosis because, like, if Ashton Genti has a high ankle,
Mike Washington's going to—
Mike Washington's going to play a lot and probably get early down.
I don't know if the Raiders' backfield will be so fun because you're going to have Dylan Lauby,
Laub, whatever, taking the third down passing work probably,
and Mike Washington's probably early down goal line guy.
Sometimes, like, the backup running back—
on a bad offense
is never like as good
as you think it's going to be
no it's honestly
I think Mike Washington
is really similar
to Tyler Algier
where you're going to be
like a lot of similar
early down
like playing work
for the Algiers
on the Cardinals now
and he's probably
going to be lead guy
with Jeremiah Love
hurt to begin the season
but like you're not
really excited
to put him in your lineup
Mike Washington
is like a way more
exciting player
to watch probably
but he's way more explosive
yeah he's going to
break off big runs
but probably get hit
in the back foot a lot too
but doesn't do
what Algier does
which is all the little things
that coaches love
which is like
what Nate was talking about
last week
not fumbling
all these things
so I'm like
I would take him
probably in that range
but I wouldn't be
I don't
I feel like Mike Washington
is probably going to
go high in drafts
because people know
about Jenty
I think he should be
right around there
like Dalton Kincaid
Isaiah Likely
120th player for us
which is like
10th router
in a 12 team league
yeah that's right
about where I have him
I do think he should be
drafted for sure
but maybe you don't need
to reach crazy for him
and again
if it comes out
that Jenty has a horrible
high ankle
and he's going to miss
like a month
or a month and a half
then it's a different
situation probably
and I think Jenty
probably needs to be
I think he's like
I think we move him down
to like top 30
because I think
I don't know
I'm curious what you guys think
I feel like we need to
build in a little risk
that it's high ankle
like even if we think
it's a low ankle sprain
and he's back immediately
I think it's
I thought he lost his foot
so high ankle is kind of
a 4 out of 10
and that's the thing
so I feel like he should
be around Josh Allen
like right
probably Josh Allen
ahead of him
Chris Olave
George Pickens
Trey McBride
ahead of him
Malik Neighbors
is its own conversation
yeah there's kind of
a big gap in running backs
he probably slots in there
and then it's like
Devontae Smith
Ladd-McConkie
Tedaroa-McMillan
T. Higgins
Kyron Williams
like right around
those tier of guys
I think Jenty
goes somewhere in there
yeah I agree
and then if he ends up
confirmed having a low ankle
we would move him up
probably 10 spots
and have him more
in that range
around Brock Bowers
H. Ann Hampton
and just be like
okay he's now at the bottom
of the elite tier
of second round running backs
but he's hard to get down
third to fourth round
depending on the news
so check out
what the definition is
or the diagnosis
thank god he's
knock on wood
gonna be fine
seriously
alright let's get to
post type sleepers
I think it is a worthwhile
exercise where
this happens a lot
in every sport
this actually just happened
in baseball
where Jordan Walker
won the home run derby
and everyone had kind of
given up on Jordan Walker
he's like a top five prospect
he's supposed to be amazing
he came into the majors
and he wasn't very good
well he was actually
really bad
he was one of the worst players
I picked him up
on my major league
or on my fantasy baseball team
he's been great
and then this year
I didn't make the playoffs though
Cal Raleigh
yeah Cal Raleigh
was your first pick
I did not realize
that we were only doing
a five team playoff
so I didn't make it either
yeah I kept waiting
for you to know that
yeah
you didn't know that
five that's ridiculous
we don't do six
we kept saying
you were gonna make
the playoffs
I'm like you didn't
you guys were all
mathematically eliminated
and I was not
and I assumed
that's because I was in sixth
he's like sitting back
just like
what the fuck
who does five out of twelve
who does five
dude who's the commissioner
of this league
did we vote on that
I don't know
who's the commissioner
that's crazy
I'm gonna light up
that group chat
I've voted
I've won five straight
are you kidding me
I'm aware
I'm just
he probably tweaked
that last week
when he knew
I was gonna make it
I'm just gonna
cut Craig out
but the point being
that Jordan Walker
then has had an amazing
first half of the season
wins home run derby
everyone's like
oh he's amazing
and then he's
he's 23
like everyone gave up on him
people just bail too quickly
it's like they put
all their eggs in one basket
if it doesn't work out
they move on to the next
shiny thing
when sometimes
it can take a year
or there were
other circumstances
that used to be the norm
of course
yeah there's a reason
that it's don't
judge a draft class
after three years
so I wanted
we wanted to go through
some players
that we
some players who we like
some players we've written off
some players are
Marvin Harrison Jr.
and we basically have sworn
to being dead to us forever
but we wanted to just
have an objective lens
on players that are
basically the cheapest
they've ever been
but it wouldn't
really be weird
if they were just
really good all of a sudden
and we wanted to go through
which of these post
they're all post type
and we wanted to kind of
be like which of these
are post type sleepers
it's guys with either
high draft capital
that haven't really worked out
early on in their career
or guys who had a
great rookie year
and then a bad
sophomore year
and are now coming back
for this
yeah and you're like
well I guess this person
was really hyped at one point
I don't know why we're shocked
and so I think we have to
start this one
with Marvin Harrison Jr.
from the Cardinals
Maserati Marv
where you know
I suppose we've been
I have been closed off
to the possibility
of him being good
and we wanted to just
you're fixated on the idea
that his name is what
got him drafted fourth overall
which is absolutely not true
oh
that's not true
what do you mean
absolutely not true
it is certainly a factor
okay maybe absolute
is hard to say
but it was maybe
it inflated his value
I think it
maybe a tiny bit
he was a really good prospect
as simple as Malik Neighbors
probably would have
just gone higher
if he was named Fred
but still Marvin Harrison
was a very good prospect
I will stand
yeah
firm on that one
so but
why
what
why has he not been as good
as everyone
unanimously said
I think a number of factors
number one
I think he got in his own head
I think he's
he's been
his confidence has been shot
which I think is a big variable
for any person
I'm saying
talking about shots
sure okay
you know the Harrisons
you said it
his confidence has been eroded
and I think that has mattered
I don't think
Kyler Murray was a great fit
for him
or the offense that they ran him in
the routes that they were having him do
he wasn't necessarily very good
where he's just basically
you know running deep routes
on the outside
having to win at the catch point
that hasn't been his
his forte so far
he's bulked up in the offseason
I don't know if that's going to help or not
I keep
he has
he's bulked up even more
it is an
the way he has bulked up
he looks like a bodybuilder
it is not the way
other receivers
try to improve their bodies
in the offseason
I do think there's something subconscious
he does need to get stronger
at the catch point
it's like every time
he starts thinking about
people talking shit
he's like I gotta go lift
I'm gonna lift this out
but I do think
there's several variables
that could make it for
a big
like post type sleeper bump
this season
number one
a full offseason
well I guess he did
kind of miss time
with Jacoby Brissett
with the holdout
but a full offseason
with Jacoby Brissett
getting on the same page as him
Kyler's gone
I think he fits
into the offense
that Mike LaFleur is bringing
where
he's running more
in breaking routes
deep digs
crossing routes
over routes
we saw that in college
I think that was kind of
his bread and butter
I think he'll have an opportunity
to do that a lot more
I think they'll move him
around the offense
a little bit more this year
with Michael Wilson
I think also what you're talking about
and I think the quiet part
out loud with this is
was he a bad fit
with Kyler Murray
yes
that I think for sure
especially with the way
that Kyler Murray likes to
it's kind of like what we saw
I mean Kyler Murray
definitely leaned on
Trey McBride
but he couldn't find him
to save his life
in the red zone
I feel like there's a little bit of that
where Kyler Murray just
didn't really mesh well
with what
the way that
they were utilizing
Marvin Harrison
the first couple of years
so I think
I think there's a couple
of variables here
I still think he's
a good player
probably never going to
live up to what we thought
he would be coming into the league
or what some people
thought he would be
as this generational prospect
basically
the next
the second coming of
his dad
which was a super high volume
do everything receiver
I don't know
if his dad had the
record for most catches
in a season
but I mean think about that
like what he
what would Marvin Harrison
have been
if Peyton Manning
wasn't his quarterback
who knows
you know what I mean
like these things matter
the environment does matter
and I think the environment
for him this year
will be better
I think the offense
will be a better fit
and so I'm
I think at cost
he's a pretty interesting bet
he's going in
the eighth round
yeah
I think there's
a lot of upside there
to outplay
what he
where he's going
I don't disagree with him
that like
on paper
you have to admit
that there is upside there
taking him in the eighth round
a guy with his pedigree
I am
every year
there's always one player
that I hate
that seems to do really well
and I fully understand
that there's a world
where the Cardinals
are just as bad as last year
they throw actually a lot
because they don't want to do
as much passing
but they have to
because they're
behind constantly
they have the hardest schedule
yeah and that Jacoby Brissett
ends up actually
just throwing a ton of passes
to Marvin Harrison Jr.
in a better offense
and so yeah
and like when I look
I'm like
Parker Washington
is going ahead
of Marvin Harrison Jr.
which I think
if you'd said that
to someone 12 months ago
they'd be like
wow
who do you think
sees more targets this year
that's the thing
that's why I think
it's important to this episode
it's like a reality check
and I'm like yeah
at some point
maybe there's just like
a level of principle
of like Marvin Harrison Jr.
just solely on like
like he should probably
be drafted ahead of like
Rico Dowdle
and Jalen Warren
on the Steelers
like at some point
my bias is probably
getting in the way
you can talk yourself
into the fact
that Brissette
even though the Cardinals
are going to be terrible
Brissette is kind of like
a perfect garbage time
fantasy quarterback
he's just going to
fling the ball
he's competent
last year he had
23 touchdowns
and 8 picks
200 passes in a month
pass attempts in a month
threw for over like
3,000 yards
23 touchdowns
8 interceptions
and if you look at
like the last 5 games
with Marvin Harrison
and Brissette
like he was targeting
him a lot
there were some pop weeks
and so you're like
if you trust that
this LaFleur offense
is going to be better
scheme wise
they're going to be down
the entire season
and they're just going to
throw it a ton
I don't know
it's not that crazy
the player I keep looking at
I'm like I bet
Marvin Harrison Jr.
will have a better season
than like Cardinal Tate
who's going ahead of him
I think that really is
the thing
yes I agree with that
I think he probably would
the risk there is that
I guess it's possible
Cardinal Tate just becomes
CeeDee Lamb
and then it's like
wow you missed out on that
you probably know
Marvin Harrison Jr.
is not CeeDee Lamb
but weirdly you could argue
that the floor is hot
could be higher
for Marvin Harrison
versus Cardinal Tate
because the Titans
could be a disaster
and Cam Ward
might be really bad
we don't know
right
yeah I think you're totally right
the next guy
I want to bring up
is
I don't know if he fully counts
as a post type sleeper
because he like
he wasn't bad last year
but I do think that
everyone's overlooked him
I'm saying
I mean he scored 12 touchdowns
but
everyone's overlooked him
and has kind of decided
like
hey this didn't work
which is R.J. Harvey
the running back on the Broncos
who was a rookie last year
he had 12 touchdowns
as a rookie
which is kind of insane
I want to clear
I didn't know
who you were talking about
I thought
I thought you had someone else
oh I thought
you were talking about R.J. Harvey
12 touchdowns as a rookie
he caught 47 passes
he had 900 total yards
was probably a little
underwhelming as a runner.
Some of his, like,
his yards per carry
were low,
but you can always
find stats to support
whatever claim
you want to make.
Like, he also faced
the sixth-highest
eight-man boxes
in the NFL last year,
RJ Harvey.
But my point is,
is, like,
they brought back
J.K. Dobbins,
and then they drafted
Jonah Coleman,
who D.K. described
as the thinking man's
Cam Scadaboo
coming out of the draft
this year,
who has had a great camp
and has looked really good
in preseason.
And Sean Payton
pulled him quickly
out of the game
because he was like,
I've seen all I need to see.
Jonah Coleman's good.
And he looks good.
He looks like an NFL
running back.
So now it's like,
all right,
this is a three-headed thing
with Harvey,
with Dobbins,
and with Coleman.
But I guess,
you know,
you talk all the time
about how you thought
RJ, like,
everyone thinks
RJ Harvey's Alvin Kamara
in the Sean Payton offense.
He's actually Darren Sproles.
People are sick
of me saying that,
but I do want to say
it's not a guess.
Someone told me that
it works for the Broncos.
That's why I say it so much.
Why didn't you say that before?
Yeah.
Well, I'm just saying,
I know people are tired
of me saying it,
but having said that,
what if he's better?
I can't believe he averaged
10.8 points per game last. I don't remember him
being a factor.
A lot of it was inflated
by touchdowns.
He was the RB 27 in points.
In preseason week two,
just this past weekend,
he caught, like,
a 30-yard touchdown
wheel route from Bo Nix.
He's clearly a gifted
wide receiver.
He played every snap
on the first drive,
and he had three touches
on the first six snaps.
Like, he was heavily,
heavily involved.
And, you know,
one of the keys in fantasy
is, like, if you can find
the guy late in drafts
who catches a ton of passes. He had 47 as a rookie.
Like, if he catches
70 passes this year,
he is one of the best picks
you can make
in the ninth round,
which is where he's going.
This is the classic example
to me.
Heifetz, we've made
this reference to where,
you know, the meme
where Woody's getting thrown
in the garbage, you know?
And it's like a new toy.
We've got this new guy,
Jonah Coleman.
We can't wait for him
to get on the field.
He looks great.
Guess what?
R.J. Harvey's still taking
all the snaps ahead of him
in the preseason.
Guess what?
J.K. Dobbin's currently
not healthy.
Well, and Coleman seems
to be more of the
J.K. Dobbin's insurance.
Right.
R.J. Harvey's role
might remain unchanged,
and it's probably,
no matter what,
it's going to be
a two-headed backfield
like Sean Payton's always had
with Mark Ingram and Kamara.
And, you know,
I don't believe any
Sean Payton running back
has ever had over 200 carries
or 250 carries.
So it's going to be a split,
but it's what kind of
valuable touches are you getting?
And Harvey might
get the good ones.
Right.
And I understand
because I've probably been,
like, very,
not anti-Harvey,
but, like, I probably
have diminished him
in the process of
propping up Jonah Coleman.
Oh, my God,
I'm literally choking
as I'm saying it.
Literally choking
on my own words here.
But that's the thing,
is Harvey makes me
choke on my own words again,
which happens sometimes.
I admit that, like,
the Broncos are a scary team
to be against
for all the reasons.
I mean, Bo Nix had the most,
sorry, Dak had the most
completions,
but Bo Nix had the most
pass attempts last year.
And if the Denver defense
ends up being good,
or also,
they had a lot of turnovers, too,
if they end up
in a little more shootouts.
Like, don't forget,
last year in that process,
they had all those
comeback wins, right?
They had a lot of
one-score wins,
and I'm like,
I am a little afraid
that R.J. Harvey
could just be
an incredible player,
because, yeah,
if Dobbins goes down,
even if Coleman's there,
yeah, like,
he's going to get hurt,
and that's the thing,
is I haven't said
that other part of it is,
and again,
watch J.K. Dobbins
play the whole season now,
because I've said it
so many times,
but it is weird to think
that R.J. Harvey
is slated to have
a lot of playing time
on one of the best teams
in the NFL,
and the guy ahead of him
is the most injured player
in the NFL since COVID.
And he has a lot more upside
than, like,
he's going to reach
Corey Kroski merit
for Washington,
and I'm like,
there is so much more upside
than him,
or like, you know,
in R.J. Harvey
than, like, you know,
Rashad White
or someone like that.
It checks a lot of the boxes
of, like,
the late-round running back
criteria,
which is
ambiguous backfields,
guys who catch passes,
good offenses
with good play callers,
and he also scored
12 touchdowns as a rookie,
so he clearly is somebody
who is good in the red zone
and has an eye
for the end zone.
And so you're kind of
just like,
yeah,
I don't know,
but worst case is,
I guess he's just the same
thing he was last year,
but I don't really see
it getting worse.
So where do we want to put him?
Because we have R.J. Harvey
kind of around Blake Corham.
He's like a 34th running back.
We have him around, like,
we have DeJuan Stripling
pretty high,
ahead of Michael Pittman,
but we have him behind
Cortland Sutton,
also in Broncos.
I would see the argument
for taking R.J. Harvey
ahead of, like,
Josh Downs on the Colts.
I think you could convince me
to your point,
ahead of maybe Chuba Hubbard
on the Panthers,
where it's like, you know.
I would take him
over Rico Dowdle.
We have not talked about
those guys at all,
but I'm like, yeah,
it's like R.J. Harvey
over Jill and Warren,
and I think you. Probably.
I'd probably take a shot
on him over Tony Pollard,
to be honest.
And racking up receivers
in that range.
Yeah, you're just
on a good offense.
That's the other thing,
is, like, you can kind of
rack up those receivers,
and then, like,
when even, like,
a Marvin Harrison Jr.,
Carnell Tate is gone,
and then there's, like,
D.K. Metcalf with Rogers
is left,
and Jaden Reed on the Packers,
and Josh Downs at the Colts,
Diggs with Washington,
all these kind of weird receivers.
I like Diggs,
but Cortland Sutton on Denver,
like Jordan Addison
on the Vikings.
It's a weird range of receivers,
and if you've loaded up
on four guys by then,
then, like, you might be able
to grab an R.J. Harvey.
You made a good point, too,
with the stacked boxes thing.
Like, with Jalen Waddell
in the mix,
there's a chance they can't
stack the box against Denver
quite as much this year,
you know what I mean?
And he gets more opportunity
to rip off big plays.
I saw he had 57% of the teams
inside the five-yard line carries,
which is higher than I would imagine
for a guy who, you know,
like Heifetz has said,
is kind of more of a smaller
scat-back type of guy.
He's still getting inside
the five-yard line carries,
so, yeah, we're probably
overlooking him.
To me, he feels like
the classic example of
the guy fantasy people
want to get out of the way,
but then just doesn't
get out of the way.
Well, see, I feel like
most people like him.
I feel like I'm contrarian
for not being in love
with R.J. Harvey.
I think this year,
the hype has disappeared.
I think it's all Jonah Coleman,
and it's like, oh, now this is
a three-headed thing.
R.J. Harvey didn't work out,
now he's just like a 1B.
Yeah, I feel like. He's in a bubble with me.
I mean, he's the RB32 in. He's going in the ninth round.
Yeah.
It's funny, you think about
a guy like Tony Pollard
who's on the Titans.
The Titans scored 24 touchdowns
last year.
R.J. Harvey had 12 on his own.
The Titans scored 24.
The Broncos scored double, 45.
Like, you're just getting. You're just getting more juice.
You're in the right areas.
Like, the last thing you want
to do with your late-round
dart throws is, like,
getting a guy on a team
that doesn't sniff the end zone.
That's the thing.
It's like, well,
he won't score 12 again.
I'm like, yeah, but you do want
someone who's in the red zone
a lot with Sean Payton.
So. Another guy that I wanted
to talk about that I think
is perfect for this exercise
of a post-type sleeper
is Bucky Irving,
who was not hyped
coming into his rookie year.
Amazing as a rookie.
Terrible 2025.
One of the five most
disappointing players last year.
And now Bucky Irving is just kind of. And then Kenny Gainwell
showed up to Tampa.
Steelers MVP.
That's right.
I think, so. Team leader in catches.
Kenny Gainwell.
Yeah, Kenny Gainwell.
He gains well.
I think there's a chance
that we're completely
overlooking Bucky Irving.
This is more of, like, a. It's less of, like,
I feel very strongly
that Bucky Irving
is going to be awesome
and, you know,
be one of the best picks in fantasy
and more just, like,
a probability play
that what if. What if the Bucky Irving
we saw his rookie year,
it just comes back
because he's not hurt?
You know what I mean?
What if he comes back
because the offensive line
isn't decimated by injury?
So these are the. These are the kind of bets
you can make
where he's going in the draft.
He's going around
where R.J. Harvey is going,
which is, like,
ninth or tenth round
or whatever it is.
And so. Well, it depends
where you are.
Bucky, he's going a lot. Pretty decently higher
than that some places,
like, top 60 player.
Okay, yeah.
Sorry, I was a little
confused on that one.
But, yes, I think
regardless the bet is,
he just returns to form
after not being injured
all, you know,
all season.
And what we saw
from him as a rookie
was tons of broken tackles,
very elusive,
lots of pass catching.
He came out of nowhere
and immediately looked
like one of the better
running backs.
Yeah, he was their lead back.
And now the bet is,
or I guess, like,
the thought is
he's going to lose his job
inside the red zone,
which he kind of did
last year
to Sean Tucker,
who is kind of
just a hammer.
Who's still there.
Who's still there.
And then Kenny Gainwell,
who, to me,
the Kenny Gainwell thing
is less of a concern
just because he's so similar
to Rashad White.
Rashad White went to Washington.
He's a very similar player.
Like, I still think
there will be a rotation.
I think there will be,
you know, he's going to be. Gainwell's going to get
plenty of opportunities
in the passing game.
But I do think
if Bucky
is healthy this year,
there's a chance
he's just their lead back
again.
And, like,
returns to form
and is going to pay off
where he's going.
He's RB21
in ADP.
And, you know,
again, he was
really, really good
his rookie year.
And I think it was just
an injury situation last year
that he kind of, like,
fell off.
I'm just afraid of him
because I think. I like where he's at
and I think he's actually
appropriately priced.
He's the first. I think the players
we've discussed
are, like, really worth
considering going higher for.
And Irving, I'm like,
I just. I think the fear is
that Liam Cohen
was the engine of the
offense, rushing the ball
for the Bucs two years ago
and then the Jaguars
last year.
And that's where
the success came from.
And I think that
the possibility of
getting the lead back,
I'm like, it's kind of. I mean, he's near
Quinshawn Judkins.
We don't like. I mean, Cleveland,
I'm not into that.
But I'd rather have
Ramondre Stephens
than Jadarian Price
in Seattle.
I kind of like that better
on a team with a great defense.
Even Travion Henderson.
I don't. The running back's
Travis Achan for the Saints
now that Kamara's hurt.
I'm like, man,
Travis Achan's going to get
more, I think,
more third down work
despite the acquisition
of what,
Zemir White at running back?
I'm not so worried about it.
So I kind of just
like those running backs more.
And if I'm being honest,
I think it's like
an intellectual justification
for, I don't know,
that guy gave me the ick.
I'm like, I just got the ick
last year from Bucky.
And I. The other guys around him
just seem more exciting to me
on better teams
than, I don't know.
But to DK's point,
Bucky Irving is not going to be
a sought-after player in drafts.
Like, there's a chance
Travis Etienne on New Orleans
is like, ooh,
new team,
Saints are by low,
or Saints. Saints are kind of like
a sleeper offense this year.
Kamara's hurt.
I do think Bucky Irving
has no juice right now.
And you will be able to. I doubt he will start to rise.
If anything,
he will probably fall.
And so in that regard,
if you want to bet on,
honestly, just like
natural regression
and trust your eyes
that this guy,
his rookie season
was fucking good.
And he'll just be sitting there.
You can get him for cheap.
And he'll be the third
running back on your team.
And you never know,
maybe he'll turn into
the same guy we saw
two years ago.
Right.
I think the offensive line
thing is. You can't overstate it.
I mean, they just lost half their offensive line.
And Tristan Wurst is one of the most impactful left tackles in the league.
He's a really, really good player.
I think that could stabilize their offense completely.
I mean, we saw what happened with Baker Mayfield last year.
His performance fell off a cliff as well.
The entire Bucs team, yeah.
It's kind of just all connected to injuries.
And to me, if they can positively regress,
just not be completely decimated by injuries,
that's where Bucky Irvin can kind of come back and shine.
And I think that's kind of the bet I'd be willing to make at that spot.
Who you got?
The next thing I want to just ask, again,
I think these guys are definitely post-hype,
and then I want to figure out for the sleepers.
Sure.
You know, some people in this show were really into Matthew Golden this year.
I know, DK.
Last year.
I can't, yeah.
That was a bad pick by you.
It was not me, by the way.
He was really into Matthew Golden.
Saying bad things about me.
First rounder for the Packers last year, and he didn't play as much,
and then ended up getting a little bit of an injury situation,
but mostly just didn't.
He didn't crack the rotation, and I think what was really annoying
was he just then finally did something in the playoffs
and looked really good, actually, in the loss to the Bears.
Just enough wrote me in.
But then Romeo Dobbs leaves.
Don Taven Wicks is traded to the Eagles,
and so Matthew Golden's just going to start in Romeo Dobbs' role.
He's probably not quite as technically precise necessarily
as, like, Romeo Dobbs and all the little things,
but he's much faster and has way more potential to be explosive.
So I think Matthew Golden, he's not super –
he's going as, like, an 11th-round pick, basically.
Like, you know, it depends on some leagues
where he might go higher.
But for the most part, I think regular people
aren't very excited about Matthew Golden
because he's a second-year player, didn't really do anything,
wasn't that famous.
I do wonder, though, if he is –
Romeo Dobbs with, like, a way more explosive element,
if he's a good example of a second-year hype receiver.
Like, if Quentin Johnson can come back from Quentin Johnson-ness –
Sure, than anyone can.
That's kind of what I'm asking.
From Quentin Johnson-ness.
Because Golden's going later this year than he was last year,
even though now he's starting.
He has QJ syndrome.
QJ syndrome.
And so that's kind of –
that's a player that stuck out to me as, like,
I'm afraid to do that right again.
But it is funny to think that last year the concern was,
well, how's he going to play?
And this year I'm like, nope, he's starting
as, like, starting ex-receiver on Green Bay,
and he's going, like, closer to Romeo Dobbs
than where he was last year.
It's a great name to point out.
It does nothing for me when I see Matthew Golden's name.
But that is probably exactly why we're having this conversation
because you're right, he's going to start.
And if you want to start looking at the environment around him,
it's pretty good.
He's a first-round pick that's coached by Matt LaFleur
with Jordan Love.
Also, it's not like the other two receivers on his team
are not super injury-prone.
I mean, Christian Watson and Jaden Reed,
when's the last time they put together a full season?
That is super fair.
Tucker Craft's going to be on a pitch count.
Going to be on a pitch count.
You know, I didn't think about it,
but the Packers are a little bit like the Niners in that way.
Yes.
In that, like, Tucker Craft off an ACL,
like, Kittle off an Achilles, and then Jaden Reed.
Josh Jacobs might get suspended for all we know.
Like, there is a lot going on.
These guys could miss a lot of time.
I don't think Jacobs will be suspended, but you're right.
Jaden Reed had a foot surgery
during his broken collarbone surgery.
Like, they did it the same week.
These are just smart dart throws.
It's just like, once you get this late,
no one knows anything.
Yeah.
You should just have a list of, like, 10 to 15 names
that you've, whether you heard us talk about it or whoever,
you're like, this makes sense to me,
and I'm going to star their name.
So if they're there, I'm going to take a shot
because whatever situation is worth betting on.
The most basic stat that you can look at here,
and sometimes it just really is, that's simple,
is last year he played. 40 time.
So fast.
He was very, he is electric.
And I think the other thing to remember. Hold on, I didn't finish my. Sorry.
I cut him off.
He just powered through that.
No, no.
Sometimes it's as simple as snaps.
Like, he's going to play way more snaps this year.
Last year he played, like, 50% of the snaps for this team.
And with the dubs gone, dubs played, or dobs,
played 78% of the snaps.
And if he's just out there 80 to 85% of the time,
he is going to get more volume,
and it's going to. going to pay off.
And I think he still is that guy who was a first-round pick.
There's a reason he was a first-round pick.
He was making some really great plays
late in his career for Texas.
And I think we'll see more of that.
Just have more of the opportunity
to get into the flow of the offense.
Last year, it felt like he was coming in cold off the bench
and just didn't really. God forbid it takes a year.
Yeah.
I think it comes down to this,
is that I think he has the floor,
because of him starting every week,
of, like, a Michael Pittman.
Maybe not necessarily in the touchdown department,
in that he'll be. The worst case is Matthew Gold's a roster clogger
because he's going to play.
He'll have stats, kind of like Romeo Dobbs,
where you're like, you know, if I have to play him,
but he's not going to win your, you know, league, probably,
for, like, Michael Pittman.
Whereas Matthew Gold's upside is, yeah, to your point,
like, if he ends up actually being able to command targets,
he hasn't done that a ton,
but I just think he's very cheap.
I mean, he's going behind Tyler Algier.
It's a dart throw.
Before the football season begins,
every team is undefeated.
Every fan believes this could be the year.
The year their team wins the division,
makes the playoffs, lifts the trophy.
And with FanDuel, you can bet on any of it.
From who will win it
all and division winners
to season win totals and playoff futures,
FanDuel has all the ways to bet on the season
before it even begins.
Easiest bet, the Broncos are 20-1 to win the Super Bowl.
I don't really understand that
because the Broncos made the AFC championship game last year,
should have won, but Bo Nix got injured
and then kept the entire team,
and now they're 20-1.
That doesn't really make any sense to me
because the Broncos probably are going to have
the second best defense in the AFC.
I just, how do the Broncos have the same Super Bowl odds
as the Packers?
That doesn't make any sense.
Like the Packers would be really weird
if they made the Super Bowl,
or at least surprising.
The Broncos, it would be super normal.
So the Broncos are 20-1.
It just feels mispriced.

Another player I wanted to ask you guys about
was Roman Dunzay for the Bears.
Less of a dart throw, going a little bit higher in drafts,
but I think he's another prototypical buy low.
Like this is a classic case of you can kind of write off
what happened last year for a lot of reasons
that aren't really associated with Roman Dunzay.
Like many things.
One, he hurt his foot and he's been dealing with that.
Still dealing with it now.
Although I feel like, you know, he had that quote saying,
like, this is the new normal.
My foot's different now.
He's been practicing fully week after week
and everything seems fine.
He literally,
figuratively walked that quote back, by the way.
Oh yeah, you're right.
He did be like, that's not what I meant.
Yes, of course.
It's shocking.
People took one line and blew it out of proportion.
You know, all the teammates surrounded him when he said it.
Well, like in the same way that I have been hyping up
Emeka Abuka about, man, the first month of the season last year.
Oh yeah, yeah.
He was nuts.
He was so good.
Roman Dunzay was the same way.
Roman Dunzay was the number three wide receiver in fantasy.
Sorry, who is it?
Woma Dunzay.
Woma Dunzay.
Was the wide receiver for the first four weeks of the season last year.
Wide receiver three.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like he was the best guy on the Bears.
And in the same Abuka comparison, I was like, and now Mike Evans is gone.
I'm like, well, now DJ Moore is gone.
Luther Burden's got a groin injury.
And you just have Roman Dunzay, who's healthy here,
who's a third year guy, who was a top 10 pick,
who a lot of people think is a great player.
Yeah.
And some of the stuff with him was like the types of passes that he gets
compared to what Luther Burden and Colson Loveland get are high variance.
Rome is getting like the downfield stuff.
So like things that Caleb struggled a little bit more with last year.
So it is.
It is a little bit more like boom dust of it.
Yeah.
But I don't know.
Talent alone, like this guy's going in like round six or seven.
You're probably not going to get a more talented player in this round.
I think if you're doing the devil's advocate thing with,
because, you know, there's a ton of hype around Luther Burden.
I think it is valid hype.
But, you know, people are talking about how, oh,
Ben Johnson has said the most exciting things about Luther Burden.
He's like basically his son.
He's so excited about him.
And then he never says jack shit.
And people are like, that tells me everything I need to know.
Like the offense is going to run through Luther Burden.
But the offense literally ran through Roma Doomsday last year until he got hurt.
And so it's like that to me, it's like, OK,
maybe we've actually should go by what we've seen versus like the exciting idea
of what Luther Burden could be.
Because Luther Burden, I mean, for all the hype around him, he's probably,
he could end up being one of the least like the worst priced players in fantasy.
Mike Clay at ESPN said Luther Burden.
He was the most mispriced player he's ever seen.
Because we haven't seen it.
It's all it's all based on the idea and what things that Ben Johnson is saying.
By the way, I believe I believe all these things for the record that like I think he really is.
Ben Johnson really is excited about Luther Burden.
And Luther Burden is an electric talent.
So I believe those things.
But we've kind of built him up into this thing.
And by the way, we want to say, where did you go in the draft?
He's like a top 10 pick.
He's like eighth.
They had to restrain Ryan Poles, the GM, from trading up for him.
They're like, bro, we.
One more pick in the next five rounds.
He was ninth.
But still, like, yeah, he was one of.
I love that.
I was like, he was eighth.
He's like, ninth.
Come on, Craig.
Fucking idiot.
So it's not as good.
Moron.
Pretty good.
Well, I just wanted to be factually incorrect.
Sure, yeah, yeah.
Your joke was factually incorrect.
Yeah, a guy to die for.
This is the definition of a bylaw to me, Roman.
Yeah.
It's like, do you like Luther Burden?
What if I gave you the same thing for half off?
We're dancing around a thesis here, which is because here's the thing.
You could throw it.
You know, else you could throw in a bucket.
Here's Brian Thomas Jr.
from the Jaguars, who is going right around.
Like, Brian Thomas Jr.
is also going in the range of Roma Dunze.
And there is something of, if you just believe in the 2024 wide receiver class,
you could end up in a world where you get Marvin Harrison Jr.,
Roma Dunze, and Brian Thomas.
Well, the only difference is that the year that Brian Thomas went nuts,
Jacoby Myers, Parker Washington, and Travis Hunter weren't a thing.
Yeah, exactly.
Now there's, like, a lot of new things going on.
But I totally agree with you.
Yeah, but last year he was, like, the 15th pick.
And so I'm like, and he's going 75th.
And so just out of principle,
yeah, Parker Washington's there.
Jacoby Myers is there.
Totally.
And they are important in luck.
Their offense had outplayed him.
But I do just sometimes you just do sentences.
Yeah, he had 1,400 yards.
Like, last year he was a second rounder, and now he's, like, a seventh rounder.
Probably split the difference.
Yeah, that's kind of the thing.
I think there's an emotional aspect here, too.
Yes.
Because he ruined a lot of people's seasons last year.
He was the biggest miss of the year, maybe.
People don't want to – people don't – there's not really a benefit to, like, hyping him up necessarily.
But do you feel confident that he has a decent shot of being pretty good this year?
I wish there had been more camp hype, and it freaks me out that Parker Washington's getting so much.
Like, that's – to be honest, I thought coming into this season – I wrote in my notes at the end of the year,
don't believe what anyone says about Travis Hunter.
I was like, Parker Washington will start for this team.
And I thought that people were going to be doing the dance that, well, Travis Hunter might play,
and I'm like, Parker Washington can't come off the field.
And it's been the other way where it's like Parker Washington is just beloved,
and everything with Trevor Lawrence – as soon as the play ends off schedule and Trevor Lawrence is scrambling,
he's finding Parker Washington.
And so now Parker Washington's going ahead of Brian Thomas, which –
makes sense to a point, but I'm like, man, like, I don't want to lean too much on the draft talent,
but, like, you know, Brian Thomas was a first-round pick.
Parker Washington – was he even drafted, or was he –
I think a sixth-rounder, I think.
Yeah, yeah, he's a sixth-rounder.
And I'm like, yeah, but I – he just fits perfectly in this bucket to me.
The irony is that unlike Marvin Harrison or Roman Dunzey, he's actually –
he was a top-five receiver in fantasy two years ago.
Yeah, and like Rome, he's a little bit more high-variance, right?
Like, he's – down-the-field stuff is kind of where he thrives.
And so you're probably going to get –
you're probably going to get an up-and-down season out of him.
But I – I think I'm buying it.
I don't know.
At that cost, too, yeah.
The quotes out of camp with him are that, like, his –
they've basically, like, figured out and landed on what his role is supposed to be
and that it's working.
And that he's, like, come with a great mentality this year.
He looks good.
The drops are gone.
Like, it seems like the talent we saw in year one is real.
And so I'm buying that they just figured out what his role is supposed to be.
And maybe it's not 140 targets a year guy,
but that he can still be really valuable.
He's still at the right position.
Okay.
So let's say it's the seventh round in a draft.
Let's say you've had two running backs and you have four receivers or two running –
I don't know.
Make up whatever.
Okay.
Two running backs.
You have 10 running backs.
Yeah, yeah.
And you can pick.
And all on the board are Marvin Harrison Jr.
You decide – for whatever reason, you want a receiver.
And you're looking at Marvin Harrison Jr., Roma Dunzay, Brian Thomas, and Parker Washington.
Who are you actually taking?
Who are you actually selecting with your pick?
Rome, Parker, Brian Thomas.
Who?
And who else?
Marvin Harrison.
Marvin Harrison Jr., Roma Dunzay, Brian Thomas, and then Parker Washington.
I'd probably take Rome first.
I think so too, yeah.
And then I would probably take Parker Washington.
Yeah.
That's where my head went to.
I think I would probably take – funnily enough, I'd probably take Marvin last on that group.
Well, I don't know.
I think the Brian Thomas Jr. and Marvin Harrison arguments are pretty similar.
It's like he got hurt – well, Brian Thomas got hurt
and he was like – he lost his confidence.
He's like drops like crazy.
I think he got it in his own head.
And other surrounding talent.
And then it started to like snowball on him a little bit.
And I think that Marvin Harrison had kind of a similar deal.
The Bears and Jags are very similar.
You have two offenses – the best two offensive candidates from last year.
Number one picks that are crazy talented and were hype like Caleb Williams, Trevor Lawrence
that did not play well early in their careers that played really well last year
with Jacoby Myers, Parker, Thomas, and then you have like Burden, Colson Loveland.
There are pretty similar profiles overall.
Like a split back field.
So, yeah.
Okay.
Another – are there any other post-type guys you wanted to hit?
No, I think those are the right ones.
We can get into some deeper sleepers now.
These guys are not post-type.
These are truly like closer to last pick in the draft.
That could be like a secret gem of the season type stuff.
Very possible that these guys are going to be on the waiver wire all year
and will be irrelevant.
But we think that they have a shot to be like a surprise starting player
on your team.
Who wants to start?
I can go first.
This is a guy that we haven't really talked about
and I wanted to make sure we have this on the record
because I think he could have a better season than anyone is expecting.
In fact, he had a way better season last year than I think anyone realizes.
In fact, like when I'm looking at his stats, I'm like,
this is crazy that this happened.
I didn't realize this.
He was third in receiving yards among tight ends last year.
Who?
Jawan Johnson.
Yeah, you didn't say his name.
I was like building the suspense.
Oh, okay.
I was doing that intentionally.
The two of them, I think, are going to be the best.
The two guys that had more receiving yards than Jawan Johnson last year
are Trey McBride and Kyle Pitts.
There's no way that's true.
That is, wow, Kyle Pitts being number two also.
But Jawan Johnson, third most yards from tight ends.
Yeah, among tight ends.
And so he had, and it's funny because right now he's in ADP.
He's the tight end 17, 158th overall.
So he's last round pick.
One of the more under-discussed forgotten tight ends
who has been starting for like three straight years.
One of the quietest 100 target seasons in history.
He had 102 targets last year.
77 catches.
889 yards.
And really the thing that held him down
and kept him from being really more fantasy relevant
is he only had three touchdowns.
And to me, it's like touchdowns are so variant.
There's so much variance with touchdowns.
Taysom Hill, the Saints also kind of had like a weird rotation at tight end
even though Taysom Hill wasn't playing technically tight end.
He was part of that rotation.
He scored a bunch of touchdowns.
He's finally gone.
He was in there throwing passes and running the ball like a bunch of times.
It was last year, it was Johnson, Foster, Moreau, Taysom Hill, Jackson,
Stoll all got like major playing time.
So it was kind of a weird rotation.
This year, we could just see more of Jawan Johnson.
They did sign Fant in the offseason.
And they drafted a kid.
Yeah, Oscar Delp.
But he's a blocking tight end.
I think Oscar Delp out of Georgia,
I think he's going to be way more of like he's a competent blocker
and he's going to just allow them to play in two and three tight end sets.
I just don't know if he'll see the field that much, to be honest.
I think rookie tight ends never matter as much as people think.
There's a reason we're amazed by Tyler Warren and Sam Laporta and Kyle Pitts
is because it doesn't happen.
And I think that this is a great pick, DK,
because Jawan Johnson is the type of tight end like Kyle Pitts,
like Harold Fannin, where he is a receiver.
He's a receiving tight end that is blocked somewhat competently enough.
But with Jordan Tyson, the rookie receiver,
they drafted six this year with the hamstring injury.
It's probably two months, but who knows?
I mean, in the past, all these injuries that he's had to come back from,
it's a really slow process with the hamstring injury.
Jordan Tyson was drafted eighth.
Sure.
Fuck.
You know, as soon as I said it, I was like, that sounds wrong.
That sounds right.
Fuck.
Well, you know what?
Because six and eight are kind of round in my head.
Yeah.
Like six is just kind of missing that little piece.
Yeah, yeah.
We get it.
Fuck.
Anyway, Jawan Johnson, I think in all seriousness,
I think this is an actual sleeper pick.
Like sometimes you're like sleeper and people are like, what is that?
This is perfect because I think this is the exact thing people want with sleepers
where no one's going to take Jawan Johnson.
He's probably going to go after defenses and kickers.
But this is as good a pick to end up as a top eight tight end
through the first six weeks of the season as anybody
because he's probably going to go after defense and kickers.
He's probably going to be the number two receiver on the Saints.
It's probably going to be Chris Olave as like the number one.
And then Jawan Johnson's probably going to beat out Devon Valle
as like the leader on the Saints and catches targets, yards, touchdowns, everything.
He's a great red zone target.
And I totally agree, Dick.
I think this is a perfect player and like what a lot of people think
of Rondé Gadsden is for the Chargers.
Jawan Johnson's like if you're waiting on tight end,
this is the perfect target.
He's going like 50 spots after Travis Kelsey, 60 spots after Travis Kelsey.
I'm like, you're going to have the same year as Travis Kelsey.
Yeah, easily.
It's just one of those guys that for whatever reason, no one buys into him.
He's just been completely overlooked.
And I think a lot of people want to replace him.
In terms of whoever's going to be the next big pick.
He might be the least famous starting tight end in the league.
Yeah.
So I think if he plays marginally more snaps this year
because of that four-man rotation that they had last year,
I think he could end up being a top seven, top eight tight end
and you can get him in your last round.
Craig, who's a sleeper that you have a deeper sleeper?
This guy's very deep.
This guy's going 185th, which basically means he's not being drafted.
Jalen McMillan, the wide receiver on the Bucs,
is a guy coming into his third year.
He was on Washington with Roma Dunzey, Jalen Polk.
Yeah.
It was like the big three-headed monster in Washington.
They were all great.
Polk retired.
I can't believe he retired this year.
Polk retired, yeah.
Polk retired.
McMillan, as a rookie on Tampa, was really good
and closed the season amazingly.
He was like,
one of the waiver-wired gems.
Probably got you through the playoffs if you added him.
He had five straight games with a touchdown to end his rookie season.
He had eight touchdowns as a rookie.
He had seven touchdowns in his last five games.
He was amazing.
And I thought he just looked really good.
And then next camp, he had a horrible neck injury,
fractured three vertebrae,
and people were wondering if he'd ever play football again.
Kind of remarkably came back last year
and played four games to close the season.
One of those games, he had over 100 yards.
And so they took Ted Hurst, I think,
I think it was in the third round, a wide receiver.
Mike Evans is gone.
And I kind of just look at somebody who I've seen do it in the NFL,
who I think passes the eye test,
and is surrounded by Chris Godwin,
who's over 30 years old and has had two bad injuries.
You have Emeka Bukamata-Turftow,
and Mike Evans is gone,
and the other guy's a rookie?
I'm like, I don't know.
Is there a world in which Jalen McMillan
is like the number two receiver on this team in October?
I think that's possible.
There's a world in which he's the number one receiver
in terms of targets.
Yeah.
Potentially.
I can absolutely see this.
I think this is a great one.
I agree.
He's a good player.
I think the injury is really the only concern here
in terms of how often he's going to be out there.
Right now, he's dealing with a knee thing,
but he's not.
He's like practicing pretty much.
Yeah.
I really like this.
And the proven connection with Baker.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
I'm into this.
It's like the last player on your bench kind of stash, right?
Last player on your bench.
Okay.
And even if it's not,
even if it's like a guy who quietly has,
there's like a pretty good snap rate
week one and you want to add him up waivers like he's the type of guy to bet on even if his numbers
aren't great even if he has three catches for 25 yards but if he plays a ton or something like that
somebody to keep your eye on last player on your bench rankings would you rather have like jaylen
mcmillan for the buccaneers pat bryant for the broncos who i think is you know i mean sean payton
compared to michael thomas and the saints are rebuilt or the broncos are redoing the 2016 saints
offense would you rather have pat bryant who might not play early you could have ryan flournoy is the
third receiver in the cowboys i think debo samuel's going too high to be in that contention but like
would you rather have mcmillan than like random guys like that random guys that i have selected
to talk about today um just pick them totally at random it's a good question i'm a little bit more
dubious about pat bryant i i don't know i just feel like there's more up for grabs in tampa like
i feel like jaylen mcmillan could capture a little bit more of the work pat bryant with sutton and
with waddle and with harvey
and like the million receivers that they have there even if he likes pat bryant i don't know
i'm a little more scared about that ryan flournoy flannoy in dallas is like the surefire number
three he's like a six round pick no he was he was actually he went eighth wrong he went he was a
six round he was the eighth overall pick he went to southeast missouri state go red hawks um totally
but he's just like one of the more under the radar just everything out of camp is people
fucking love this guy he had 200 yard games last year
whenever pickens or or lamb went down he just like stepped up and was a legitimate starting
receiver and you could make the case that if any team could could support three wide receivers in
fantasy it's either the bangles or the cowboys you saw it with the bangles with tyler boyd who
was like legitimately relevant for a couple years small chance that could be flannoy and also if one
of those two guys gets hurt he's like immediately a starting receiver yeah my only question is when
you actually do your leagues is do you have a receiver as that last pick because i feel like
for me i just end up picking a running back in case someone gets hurt or there's some yeah you
probably go more hands-on if you're a receiver you're a receiver you're a receiver you're a receiver
hand cuff although flannoy is the very he's like a receiver handcuff yeah that's true uh dk do you
have any other deep sleepers you want to throw out there i want to throw out debo debo samuel yeah
yeah back on the niners he you know it's funny we always joke about players that when you see them
in the in a new jersey you'll be like oh mike evans on the niners and like debo on the niners
at this point might be weirder to me than mike evans on the niners dude i i think debo is one
of those guys you get you get one or two of these every year where uh like random fake pictures on
the internet and you're like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be like oh my god i'm gonna be
give you like a of him looking fat like i think it was from a few years ago it was circulating
where he had like a big belly but he's he's looking pretty trim in shape he quietly had
almost 100 targets last year kind of like erase that from my memory he's like one of like three
players that people care about what his belly looks like yeah it's funny dude that's kelsey
yeah well he's built on breaking tackles and running after the catch and i think when he
got a little bit bigger and people were worried about his overall elusiveness that is a
real concern but has there ever been conversations like seriously where the the niners are like debo
samuel showed up out of shape or no like are those actual concerns or do we just perceive that he has
a belly and he's actually just in shape oh man injuries have really been more of an issue for
yeah um but regardless get that out of the way he's trim i think he looks all right he looks trim
um but if you look at the way that he's been utilized especially last year like recent
seasons he's not a regular wide receiver he's basically a wing back that's what
the he made they the 49ers made him an all pro when he was basically doing this position
kyle shanahan thought up ways to use him where he became an all pro and i don't i think with
christian mccaffrey there he's going to get less carries in the backfield as he did that one great
year that he had but he's still a get the ball out quickly let him do his thing last year uh among
players with 50 targets he was there was three players that had a lower air yards per target so
basically used in the exact same way as him the three players were khalil shakir
rashid rice and malik washington so like get the ball in his hands let him do his thing it's cheap
it's a ppr scam i get it but this is fantasy he i think he's the type of guy who could be sort of
with stripling sort of the red herring he's doing so great in training camp he's doing so great in
preseason and then when the real games start the team just kind of decides to let the veteran have
a little bit more touches and do do more stuff in the offense they're not really like they don't
need to go out there and have diva saying we'll catch seven passes in a preseason game right like
they know what he can do and they're not really like they don't need to go out there and have
two and so i'm just looking at him late rounds you know he's going really really he's a wide
receiver 51 in adp um with your last pick of the draft a guy who's shanahan knows pretty knows
like the offense is perfect for him in terms of any offense in the nfl you can pick i'm picking
this offense in terms of getting getting him the football um and he's still last year he still
averaged over six yards in yak per reception so it's not like he's totally washed i think it's
like he's really just been battling injuries over the years i think to your point i do think
he's washed but he's priced as if he's washed so i don't think it matters if he's washed because
what you're saying is if he's not priced in like that's the thing is any negative thing i could
say about debas priced in because i agree like i think george kittle is a great pick this year
i think george kittle will play and week two and actually have like a way better achilles injury
than you generally see i think dijon stripling is going to break the kyle shanahan mold and be
like a really impactful rookie a lot of guys red shirt for shanahan as a rookie receiver
i believe in stripling hype and i kind of weirdly stupidly think mike evan state might still healthy
now if all those three things sound stupid then you're
absolutely right because there's a world where kittle oh yeah not great off the achilles mike
evans pulls his hamstring at some point and then the sub and then dijon stripling oh yeah he's a
rookie he's not gonna have a huge impact for kyle shanahan this year then you're right dk then maybe
debo ends up being an amazing pick it's like i mean he's you know going around like you know
backup tight ends like you don't need a ton to go wrong or the substation to eat one of the players
for this to uh to pay off so it is everything you're saying i think it does make a lot of sense
okay we're gonna bring sal in a minute but first just want to talk about the uh cleveland browns
debacle other loser from preseason week two just cleveland in general i mean just the run out of the
cleveland browns this weekend so shadouris sanders goes out and is the captain for the week misses
the pre the coin toss during the game they have a defensive end terrace achilles during the game
and he's out for the season deshaun watson plays so badly he gets booed during the preseason game
and then afterward deshaun watson has the like one of the most damaging press conferences to a
the audio because you maybe you've heard it but if not it's really worth hearing that Sean
exchanged at length so we have the audio I believe we can play that I have no reaction I think
the biggest thing is um I don't I think you guys know too and I think the whole world knows it has
nothing to do about the performance it's a little bit personal than that so I think that's a it's
a disrespectful thing um so yeah I mean I'm gonna keep whatever I feel with me and my family
internally on how I feel about that um and yeah just move on but don't you think the Sean that
that winning and playing better would eliminate some of that booing um last time I played on this
field I took my Achilles and that same fan base they cheered when I got hurt so does that does
that have to do with what does that have to do with anything about performance when a person
get hurt especially for your own city
and they cheer
does any of that make you regret coming here no I don't regret anything in my life you know crazy
thing put me through situations for a reason so I don't I don't regret anything at all but
you know I had uh different thoughts on how it was going to be but you know it is what it is
um you know sometimes you know the tables turn and I'm patient enough because I'm a child of a guy to
you know wait for that that time to change
um so I'm not chipping on it I'm not chipping on it the funny thing the funny thing about that is
is like obviously there's a million reasons to not like him off the field but if there's one thing I
know about like American fans is they can overlook horrible if you play well right right like
so him kind of specifying that it's not about performance well it shouldn't be about performance
but what we know about like you know culture is that oftentimes people overlook things when
somebody's playing well it's like buddy you were also playing like absolute in the second
half of a pre-season game yes it's like yeah maybe they booed you when you tore your Achilles
because you're not a good person but they also booed you because you were awful yeah poor canulos
I think my takeaway from this is he's one of the least self-aware people I mean in the world I'm
sorry I'm starting to wonder about this guy I don't know he doesn't regret anything in his life
okay that wasn't the question not a single letter yeah no regrets just well the other there was so
many about it so that Mary Kay Cabot from who covers the Browns then asked him like hey Deshaun
oh sorry oh forget that they Todd Monk and then the head coach then named Deshaun Watson the starter
today we're recording this Monday uh morning Pacific time and like then so Deshaun Watson
after all this then gets named the starter after basically being angry at the fans for being upset
about um you know the more than two dozen lawsuits against him
um in addition to just being literally the first six games he was the Brown starter uh a couple years
ago the worst quarterback in the history of the Browns which just say that one more time worst
quarterback ever in Brown's history like the combination of all that and he also the biggest
contract ever given enough history the only five you're guaranteed all fully yeah fully guaranteed
it's like and they give up three for sure of why they would boo yeah it is it's like they gave up
their entire all their picks and all their money for the worst quarterback ever who is also the
most reviled person in the league yes and and so he actually he's just given another statement
after being named a starter where he apologized for his comments human nature I'm emotional
putting a lot of time in the last two years he's basically like I've put my time I I've like
And dedicated time and money and resources and effort to, like, be a part of the community.
And so I was hurt.
You can tell.
Well, there's so much to go into this.
Obviously, he feels he's done nothing wrong about any of this.
Obviously, he's been stewing about being booed when he got hurt a couple years ago for the whole time.
The other part about this that's so funny to me is they were like, so do you feel like the Browns, if you win the job,
a lot of the early games are road games.
Do you think that could help you?
He's like, yeah, man, I guess I'm going to play 17 road games this year.
And he's like, I'm going to play 17 road games.
And the Browns' first two games are road.
And I think that's what the Browns have basically decided naming him the starter.
He's like, he's going to work remote.
Like, Shador's going to do the home games.
He's going to zoom in for the home games.
He's just going to be like, hey, guys.
God, that's hilarious.
Like, the fact that they're factoring in.
You guys get them on the weekends.
It's like they're divorced.
Jesus.
They're factoring in the fact they're playing on the road the first two games and naming them the starter.
It's hilarious.
Didn't the timing of that was odd, naming him right after that?
Like, what is Monken doing?
The whole thing's crazy.
I think that was the plan the whole time.
And then Deshaun probably messed it up by doing all this.
And I thought it was interesting that several beat writers for the team after the game were like,
you have to kind of cut him now.
I was like, I mean, after all this, like, that was what makes you cut him?
I feel like that's probably not going to happen.
I was going to say, you've come this far.
I mean, that, like, him being mad at the fans is like probably not.
Never mind the fact that because some cap stuff.
Again, he's got to do it.
He's got the only guaranteed contract in NFL history that was like an NBA contract, five-year deal.
And the consequence of rolling it back is the cost of cutting Deshaun Watson would be, I believe, $120 million.
So more than Tua is getting paid, more than Kyler is getting paid.
More than the Dolphins are spending on their entire active roster, basically.
Yeah.
Like, it's not—literally, there's not enough cap space in the league combined, basically, at this point to cut Deshaun Watson out, right?
It's a pretty brutal look for Shador, honestly.
Yeah.
You know?
Do you want to talk about that?
Like, how did—did you guys watch the game?
Was Shador not going out to the coin toss?
No, Shador not—like, the fact that—
Not winning this competition.
Deshaun having, like, a terrible preseason, having the worst press conference of all time, and immediately gets named the starter?
Is there—it is—and it goes back to Jerry Judy on Instagram Live, and he would, like, who do you want to play?
And he goes, like, four.
And he was like, oh, someone asked how old my daughter was.
That's why I said four.
I'm like, wow, that's a bad lie.
But, yeah, no.
Also, Deshaun Watson has the yips.
He can't play.
I don't—how much of it's for him?
How much of it's for football?
How much of it's, like, they want to fail in the beginning, and then they can bench Deshaun?
I don't understand.
Like, from a management standpoint, like, if you're the coach or the GM or whatever, it's easier to go from Watson, have him fail, and then go to Shador than from first Shador to go in there, not play well, and then go back to Watson.
I think it is.
It's just, like, harder to sell that to people, I guess.
But—
It's true.
I mean, like, Shador didn't do anything in particular to, I think, win this competition outright either.
Like, in this game, this last game.
He was late on a lot of throws.
To me, it's just, like, you watch him play, he's got these big pockets, and he just sits there and doesn't do anything with it.
And so, yeah, I mean, there's people that are going to think this is, like, they're setting Shador up to fail or whatever, or this is, like, a conspiracy against Shador.
Like, that's not what's happening.
No, I think it's the other way, where I think it's—
Unfortunately, this is just a tale of two bad quarterbacks.
They're just—they're bad.
They're both bad.
No, I think it's what you said the first time, where I think you were right when you're, like—at some point, it is a management question.
Shador on the bench is, like, people have to—
I want to bench Deshaun.
If the season starts 0-5 and Shador sucks, then you're, like, all right, guys, at least we have—Deshaun Watson is going to come in now.
Like, you're setting up Shador to be the hero and kind of swing in later.
I do think that's actually the answer, because you can't go through a whole season where Shador sucks already.
Like, if Shador's going to suck, at least do it when people are, like, oh, at least thank God the Deshaun thing's over.
I do think that's what it is.
And for fantasy purposes, I know we keep saying it, but now I really don't want any Browns.
I don't want Harold Fannin.
I don't want any—
I don't want any of these people.
This is the worst vibes entering a season I can—like, in a minute.
Even by Cleveland standards, this is bad.
It sucks, because if you watch these young players in their offense, the skill players are really exciting.
Like, they have some of the most exciting young skill players.
They've drafted well.
Yeah, they have.
So, obviously, Casey Concepcioni's looked good.
Denzel Boston getting rave reviews.
Quinshawn Judkins, everything we've seen from him has been great.
He's coming back from a big injury, but he's looked really good.
Harold Fannin, one of the better rookie tight end seasons in memory.
Dylan Sampson.
Dylan Sampson looks good.
They're a fantasy team, because the quarterbacks are garbage, and the offensive line, they
have, like, Spencer Fano's a good rookie, and, like, the offensive line's a mess as
well.
It is just, like, the misfit toys from other bad offensive lines.
So, I don't want any Browns, and then I think you can acquire them later, and maybe if Shador
comes in the middle of the season, they'll be good, but I don't want them.
Okay.
Now we get to be joined by Cousin Sal, and he's going to berate us over the fantasy

All right, we are now joined by Cousin Sal.
Sal, we're going to be doing our Ringer Fantasy Football League live draft on Netflix, 11
a.m. Pacific Friday, and you are going, you have volunteered to be the enforcer of our
punishments because the challenge we've ran into is that we can't convince or force any
of our bosses to do these punishments, and you think that we were bitches about it last
year and cowarded it out.
What are the punishments?
I love the premise of picking your own punishments to avoid other punishments, right?
You utilize the punishments as a draft.
By the way, I want to make this quick because I know Craig has me on a 15-minute.
I heard him off-camera saying, we don't want Sal.
He's something about, sometimes these conversations can get weird.
Like, so, sorry, fucking producer of 60 Minutes here.
I will make this quick.
I will get out of your hair, Craig.
I know you.
Tight 15.
Oh, we ramble so much, and this shows me a two-hour show.
All I was saying is. I wanted to keep this a reasonable amount.
I got you.
Hot mic situation.
I already set us back here.
Yeah, I got it.
All right, no, but I love this wrinkle to it.
And by the way, I'm on 15 leagues.
I've won over 30 years.
I've won almost all of them, probably all.
This is the only reason I love this league is the punishment value, but they have to
be. So, essentially, you could pick your punishment instead of a player, and you have to at some
point, right?
You guys want to explain that?
There's an extra round in the draft, so you would, let's say there's 17 rounds in the
draft.
You would draft 16 players, and then the 17th round, or whenever you want, at some
point, you can pick from a pool of, let's say, 12 punishments that are in a bowl, and
you're like, you know what?
The last thing I want to do is eat two cold cans of soup, so I'm just going to draft a
different punishment in the 12th round, so just in case I get last, I don't have to do
the soup thing.
But what happened was we picked them mild enough, and again, Cret, you came in last,
and you got no coffee for a week, and we were idiots, because you can't really film not
drinking coffee.
That's so stupid.
It was dumb.
I hate that.
And we kept thinking about how funny it would be if Bill or Mallory couldn't drink
coffee, and then Cret got it.
And the problem was it ended, everyone took it last, like defenses and kickers, and your
point was we need to make them so bad that you would consider making it like a third
round pick.
Right.
Yeah.
Jamar Chase or eat two cans of cold soup.
Yes, exactly.
But it has to be worse.
So now, since you're volunteering to basically make this like a punisher situation where
you're going to publicly shame them, and since Cret has us on a shot clock, because
I like the 60 Minutes producer.
I'm going to read you now some of the punishments that we're thinking about.
You like the current 60 Minutes producer?
That's a bold take.
Well, you know, the old one's up for hire now, so I think, you know.
Okay.
Ones that I think we want to keep, and I want to run these by Sal, so that, you know, we'll
make sure that these are doable.
We want to do eat two cold cans of soup.
We're going to run it back, and we live stream it, but this time the winner chooses the soup.
Okay.
That's fine.
That's good.
Chicken corn chowder.
Wait, can I cut in?
I want to ask Sal a question.
Okay.
Do you think every punishment should be the same level of, you know, like, you know, like,
intensity, or do you think it should vary, and there should be a couple at the top that
are horrible that you want to avoid, and it kind of trickles down to more reasonable?
I think they should all be, ugh, I do not want to do that.
That's your initial reaction.
They should all be bad.
And then there should be three or four that, there's no way I'm doing that, and so that
you're forced to avoid those four and make a pick earlier than you would have.
I think that stacks it well.
Okay.
So, I would say the soup one is mid-range.
Yeah.
Unpleasant, but I'm not going to die doing it, and I wouldn't be completely embarrassed.
But go ahead.
I like it.
Well, a lesser one.
Last year we had, we choose your phone background and your case for a week.
I think that needs to be 11 weeks, and then the one person each week from the league gets
to pick it every week.
Everyone gets their own week for a week.
I would suggest we even punt that one.
Okay.
Phone background is pretty weak.
Okay.
So, I think we keep eyebrow slits like vanilla ice.
That's good.
That one's great.
And if you have, like, caterpillars like me, then it's a disaster.
I think.
I don't want hyphens to do that one.
The one that I think we wouldn't have done last year that I think we need to bring back
is, Sal, we discussed this on the Gambling Show.
Joey Chestnut, you have to beat Joey Chestnut's hot dog record over the course of a week.
You have a full week to eat more hot dogs than Joey Chestnut did this year.
I might draft that in the third round.
I might take that first overall.
Or, like, take a different one.
Yeah.
77 hot dogs.
Yes.
So, it's 11 per day.
Yes.
Do it.
And by the way, you don't want to do that?
No way you're going to do that?
Then you pick something else.
Yeah.
Like, that's the purpose.
- Yeah.
a tier echelon there i would go with that this does all hinge on sal being able to enforce this
because because if bill simmons gets last place he's not eating 77 hot dogs in a week he's just
not so how are we what are we going to do well then because he has to then pick something else
that's the beauty of this right like he doesn't have to get stuck with that right if he picks a
lesser what he would consider punishment i think i think that's the that's your way out of this
yeah all right and sal and you're gonna you're gonna like lead the charge in the public you're
gonna you're gonna be clemenza you're gonna basically like you're gonna be the enforcer
here if someone doesn't want to actually do it well first of all i want to get what was the
you ran these by simmons ahead of time last year and then you presented them to everybody else on
the draft yeah i will help you present these and push these through if they're if they're
in that case i want to bring back the 24 hours in a waffle house because we killed that because
danny kelly was like i have a child i won't do it and now the answer is then fucking pick something
else earlier
right is it my fault we didn't do that that's true then we thought no no one would do that
no one with kids you and sean fantasy were like nope and we're like all right all right
well how about this give up your kids give up your kids for three months and then you could
then you don't have that excuse yeah is there what the waffle house thing i like it it's it's
kind of popular now i understand it has to be a 24-hour joint if we're going to pick a place
similar to the waffle house roscoe some people don't have waffle houses in their area um but
what else is open 24 hours i don't know if you're going to pick a place similar to the waffle house
seven eleven no that would be seven shakies in la like mel's diners mel's diner open 24 hours yeah
yeah i think there are like uh diners yeah okay i do like the the idea i think like three of them
or four of them should be eating challenges i i like next year's draft you have this is from eddie
next year's draft you have to dress as the hungry caterpillar and eat everything he ate in the book
at the draft next year what i like that one pretty good big caterpillar what did he eat i forget uh
it's not it's a bunch of weird fruit and sauces it's weird okay we can we can mix with it um i
like bean weekend you have to eat only beans for the whole weekend okay i mean that craig just sat up
um it's kind of typical for me but yeah uh this one's not as bad but basically the idea is we
should just have a humiliating youtube short or just like an instagram reel they have to make but
we pin it at the top of every social media channel at the ringer about how bad they are and they have
to like humiliate something like that yeah uh the other ones i like sal you said listen to the pat
did for 12 hour loop during an nfl sunday yeah during a sunday maybe even just the early games
and um yeah you know and uh celebration for cults his cults cia yeah exactly black site like
getting waterboarded by pat mcafee's music jesus uh last year we were going to wear a jersey of
winners choosing i think it should be for four straight shows the jersey is a good one yeah i
like that a lot yeah that's another could be mcafee thing yeah
that's actually kind of good it should be the pat mcafee punishment hour
all mcafee related if simmons has to wear a pat mcafee or aaron hernandez jersey like which is
he choosing at that point uh for four podcasts i think we have to keep piercing oh and you have
to get a piercing yeah you have to get a piercing of any kind that's pretty good okay that's full
you're committing yeah and then what i would say you have to you have to show the piercing on a
podcast sure
right last yeah i think your belly button yeah these have to be visual absolutely and then the
other we had last year must attend a concert chosen by the winners which could be like the
wiggles like two hours away or something or pat mcafee or pat mcafee doing a concert
is he going on tour yeah probably he's probably gonna headline stage next year i would bet i also
reminded i was reminded last year that one of them was bill just had eaten olive anchovy pizza
which is actually served at restaurants and that was the first time i've ever heard of that
was a punishment last olive anchovy yeah yeah it was olives and anchovies and i'm like that's fine
he won't do it because it has carbs but uh although like normal people i think would
consider that one's too bland just middle of the road so we'll we will finalize this list
and sal we'll make sure it's well let me i have some i have some recommendations
yes okay so i think like um i think i said it last week danny sneak a paintball gun into the
super bowl you know as you're going through security or something maybe more like a paintball gun
like a knife or a machete or something but yeah something that could land you in jail i think it's
always good sure um i saw something similar to this wear the same shirt throughout the nfl playoffs
and it's only like 35 days but anytime a game is on or any day a game is being played you have to
wear that same shirt without washing it of course um so i think that's good disgusting uh how about
this do a headstand in back of a waymo from your house to the local starbucks
okay that's actually really good that's actually i have to come to la for that yeah that's really
good can you see van doing that i mean it's a tate frazier this would be great you don't you
probably couldn't wear a seat belt doing that so bill be fine oh yeah oh that's right simmons
sign me up he's gonna draft that one yeah bill's punishment's just sit normally in the car with
the seat belt you see him breaks out in hives yeah uh oh okay this is good sit next to enos
canter at a women's studies class
wait you didn't hear the back part of that in a woman women's studies where was this
yeah and that might be hard to arrange or attend the bachelor party thrown by jed york
timely a lot of these are gonna take is that the punishment or is that the reward for the winner
no kidding we gotta figure it out yeah so i think you're on the the right track here's
i'd add a couple i'd take a couple away do you think we need buy-in from all 12
people or do we just kind of bully our way push these through again that's why you draft one
early sal's point was the problem last year is we sought too much agreement and feedback from
everyone and when people were like hell no yes we listened to them and sal's point was it should
only be ones that people were like hell no it should be the entire thing right yeah yeah it's
gotta gotta make you squirm all of them for sure this thing's a mess because there's no there's no
um i know you talked about it but there's no prize for the winner there's the the punishments for the
loser is really the only anything he's right stakes right so the last thing i wanted to talk
about sal is you hate that how we do the last decide last place which we have a toilet bowl
that's happening concurrently with the playoffs and you thought it should just be regular season
standings and i like the toilet bowl better because it keeps people engaged and doesn't
encourage everyone to check out for the final month of the season because i was like eighth
place but i made the toilet bowl and then i ended up losing so i got last at the which even though
i got last i do agree it's fun to keep the season going because otherwise the people who don't
make the playoffs are done week 13 okay but wouldn't you have as a if the punishment went
to the person who um who had the the worst record or the least amount of points wouldn't that give
them incentive to step it up the last few weeks of the regular season is when you really need it
who cares about this playoff part that most of the teams aren't involved in so they're they're
actually interested when you need them to be interested a and b what about the guy who goes
seven and is like third most points and gets stuck in this cockamamie losers bracket and has to like
that that's not fair right you know it's not at all i agree yeah right you weren't the worst team
was wasn't it fantasy who was the worst team like that's sean left the group chat because he was so
mad about that and then found out that he wasn't gonna come in last yeah i was like yeah um also
what we could do is is we could force the loser to have to complete their punishment during the
game oh oh yeah like coinciding with yes they have to do the one it's a good yeah it's a good
compromise okay that is i like that it won't work for some of these where the winner chooses the
punishment but uh yes i do in general like that that also brings into play like new year's eve
you know oh yeah yeah it's christmas you have to eat beans only on christmas day
right and only being christmas sounds good kiss your father on the mouth when the ball drops
yeah i like that like tom brady yeah oh my god dude sal thank you so much uh yeah i gotta do
craig is that okay i feel like we can keep going here but what else i would never do we don't have
any more punishments i feel like we had more i had like six i could send you more and uh i'll
let me i'll send these to you all day but should we get together wednesday or through email or
something and and finalize whatever list you don't want to dox your email but your email is hilarious
we're not going to dox it but your email is just like it's it's unbelievable how so well we were
just telling the the guys who had to send you the zoom link what your email was and the verizon.net
really shook everybody to their core oh really you know how it is with email like my wife has
hotmail you don't want to if you change it it's you're screwed everywhere everything you everything
you do also verizon way too long for me verizon is sponsoring this uh this live draft so it's
perfect
that's true we have verizon yeah what's wrong with you great great email account and i'm sure
a great service yeah yeah we didn't there's one other part we didn't uh discuss was that
do you think there should just be 12 punishments to choose from or should
there be a larger pool of like 20 horrible ones
look if they're all horrible like you say then do 50 i don't care but if it if it is there is a
benefit i think to just keeping it at 12 i have to stay away from these five i did if there's one
easy punishment like
if there's one that's like you know whatever you can't eat meat for a week
is there a chance that that goes coward takes it in the second round
If everything else is terrible, it almost would be kind of fun to have like a softball in there
just to see what people do with it.
Who's the coward?
Who's the coward pick?
Yeah, I think you're right.
We should do that.
That's easy.
I haven't done that since I was like eight months old probably.
Not a beat for a week.
The real version we might have to get to is that you were able to draft forcing someone else to do the punishment.
Like the thing you'd use – like Sal would use a first-round pick on is I want Bill to do this.
Like I want to pick if Bill comes in last, he has to do the judgment.
Yeah, right, right, right.
Oh, that's good too.
Like that's the thing.
Maybe we should allow that.
If you're willing to give up a round to give someone else a punishment, more power to you, right?
Oh my god.
That's excellent.
But then what if everybody's giving Bill a punishment?
Well, no.
Once it's given, it's done.
If you don't use the pick, you don't – like the first round –
It's the poison pill.
Like instead of Jamar Chase, you're going to take –
Oh, I see.
Bill comes in last.
He has to use 77 hot dogs in a week.
That's my first-round pick.
No one else can give Bill a punishment anymore.
Correct.
And then you lose that round's pick.
You don't see the player.
So you're really sacrificing a lot to give Bill that punishment.
Gotcha.
Okay.
I'll have to think that through.
We have to think about it.
I like the way you're thinking.
Just pros and cons.
We don't have nearly enough time to think about it on this show because I got to go.
You're running way long, Sal.
We're getting –
That's not what I meant.
I knew he was even listening to us when I said it.
I was like, oh, we just – we came up 45 minutes.
Oh, I don't know.
That's debatable.
That's debatable.
You could just hear Sal laughing.
It's all right.
I heard him checking in.
I love you guys.
This is going to be fun.
I'm excited for this.
Awesome.
Thank you, Sal.
We'll see you Friday, August 28th, 11 a.m. Pacific or 2 p.m. Eastern, 1 p.m. Central,
et cetera.
And yeah, thank you.
See you then.
And we'll see if we can get a seatbelt.
We'll strap Bill in.
We'll see if we can pull one of those off.
Yes.
I'm going to take mine off now and I'm going to bring it to the live draft.
He has to wear a seatbelt during pods.
It's a whole time.
I'm having to strap in across his shoulder at home on a pod.
Get like one of those big gaming chairs and you can put like a five-point heart.
Five-point harness on it?
Wow, that's pretty good.
Like a child.
Oh, great.
All right.
Thank you, Sal.
He's primed to be pulled over though.
We really, we should, I mean.
We got to blow out.
We got to get this.
Yeah, we got to get a cop to pull him over.
All right.
All right, fellas.
Love you.
Thank you, Sal.
Thank you, Sal.
Okay.
Thank you to Cousin Sal.
Thank you, DK.
Thank you, Craig.
Thank you.
There are too many people in the booth.
I don't even know who's in there anymore, but I think I want to say CT, Cam, Nikhil,
Austin, Chris, Jack.
Yeah, CT, the whole gang here at Sycamore.
LA, everybody, baby.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Shout out to the Sycamore squad.
And our rankings are fantasyfootball.themirror.com.
Everyone, thank you there.
But mostly, thank you, Lord.
Lord.
All right.
Continuing millennial bangers.
Millennial banger summary is almost over.
DK?
I'm going to go.
Okay.
To our good friend, Ludacris.
Oh.
Blueberry Yum Yum.
Are you guys familiar with this song?
Not off the top of my head.
You got to slow it down just a little bit.
I do not know Blueberry Yum Yum.
All right.
You guys don't know Blueberry Yum Yum?
I'm going to slow it down too much.
No, it's not a slow song by any means.
I can't believe you guys don't know this song.
You know what sucks now is now that we're in person, I can't play it in my ears right
now.
And we can't play it out loud because we get sued.
I do have. It's funny he's bringing up Ludacris because yesterday in our hotel, I turned on the TV.
You saw Ludacris?
Ludacris is there.
He's my. No.
Ludacris was hawking vitamin, multivitamin tablets in a commercial, and I felt really
old.
It was a big. It was a big paper cut.
Hawking.
How dare you?
Look, when Emmett Smith starts selling the diapers or whatever, I'm like, okay, well,
he's old.
Yeah, like Joe Montana doing Skechers.
Yeah, exactly.
It's 70.
That's funny.
Dude, I remember my mom's face when Springsteen was on the cover of AARP, and she was like,
fuck.
What's the. God, Jamie Lee Curtis doing that yogurt, Activia.
Yeah.
That's the one.
You know?
But yeah, Ludacris with the selling the multivitamin.
What is the song that you think of?
When I say the word Ludacris?
Get Back.
Oh, that's a good one.
Yeah.
I think that is it.
I also just think of him going from. What's the one where he says, backseat, windows up, that's the way I like to. You can say it.
To what?
There you go.
No, for me, it's Act a Fool.
Act a Fool for. And then, yeah.
He had some bangers.
And Move Bitch Get Out the Way.
Oh, Move Bitch Get Out the Way.
And Act a Fool.
Which I love it.
I was like, what's the name of that song?
That song is called Move Bitch.
Yeah, it's called. It's in fact called. Oh, that's so good.
Wait, how does. I like them like I used to.
How does your Blueberry Yum Yum song go?
Blueberry yum yum and let's get higher.
It's pretty good.
I don't know that.
Get your ladders rolled.
I don't recall.
Let's get higher.
Okay.
Okay.
I feel like that was. It was earlier.
It's 2004.
Yeah, that's right on the cusp.
So it's like a little earlier for you guys.
It's all right.
But for my. The last song I did was 2004.
For my little mini generation, I feel like this was a huge song.
I feel like we're getting deep cutty.
We are, just a little bit.
But we. You can throw out like. Let's just change it straight up to Move Bitch.
Move.
Yeah.
That song.
Or Get Back.
Move Bitch.
Get out the way.
Jackie doesn't love rap.
And so sometimes I'll try to play it on her.
What the fuck is he saying?
I'll try to play it for her.
And I'm like, hey, yeah, this is a classic.
And it's like, move, bitch.
And I'm like, you know, I get why maybe you don't love this.
Literally two nights ago, Saturday night, me and my wife and two friends, we just drove
around LA after dinner, just blasting Millennial Bangers from the playlist.
It's so fun.
That music is just so good.
It's so fun.
All of us were like, man, they really don't make music like this anymore.
Like, it is so just like happy and. It's true.
And great.
Everything was better when we were young.
It's true.
That's right.
The Ludacris also. I love the lyrics of this Move Bitch song.
Ludacris also in Fast and Furious 2, being the guy who puts nitrous in their cars, and
then Fast and Furious 3, he hacks the Pentagon.
Yeah, fuck yeah.
It's like all time come out for Ludacris.
Ludacris revealed that the 2001. Hit song Move Bitch was inspired by the everyday frustration of sitting in traffic while behind
the wheel of his car.
So relatable.
That. Do you think he was literally sitting on like La Brea trying to turn on his head?
Move Bitch?
And he went, Move Bitch?
And he was like, oh, wait.
He's like, get out the way.
Yes.
I do think that's what happened.
He called his manager.
I got something.
Wait till you hear this.
I've been thinking about. Busting you upside your motherfucking forehead.
I love that.
Also, wasn't. It's funny how many things are inspired by traffic.
Wasn't The Good Place inspired by traffic?
Wasn't Mike Schur in traffic?
Yes.
It was. It was like a guy turning left.
He's like, I'm in hell.
So someone ran the yellow and became red.
It's like how two people turn left on the yellow when it goes red, and you really shouldn't
squeeze anymore.
Sometimes you can squeeze a third.
The third person that ran the red light under left, and he remembers. I was thinking, who is that person?
Or it might have even been like the fourth, yeah.
Yeah, it was like the third or fourth person to run a red light making left.
He's like, who is that person?
What is their life like?
And they're going to hell.
Like, where do all those people go?
Yeah, I was like, well, that person's day-like.
Yeah.
It was. Okay.
Or. Oh, no, we already did thank yous, right.
Or I could have ended it right there.
Bye-bye.
Yeah.
No, well, Sal, we're on a tight timeline.
Yeah, we could have. Yeah, Sal really just took up too much time.
That's the problem.
Yeah.
Move, bitch.
Goodbye, everyone.

Podcast Summary
Key Points:
Ashton Jeanty suffered an ankle injury in practice, initially causing panic but later reported as a sprain; his fantasy value depends on whether it’s a low or high ankle sprain, potentially dropping him from a late first-round pick to the second round or lower.
The hosts discuss "post-hype sleepers"—players who were once highly touted but have fallen in drafts—including Marvin Harrison Jr., R.J. Harvey, Bucky Irving, Matthew Golden, Roman Dunsay, and Brian Thomas Jr., arguing they offer value at their current low costs.
Deeper sleepers highlighted include tight end Juwan Johnson (Saints), receiver Jalen McMillan (Buccaneers), and Deebo Samuel (49ers), each with potential to outperform their late-round ADPs.
The Cleveland Browns situation is deemed a fantasy disaster, with Deshaun Watson named starter despite poor play and a controversial press conference, making the team’s skill players risky picks.
Cousin Sal joins to discuss draft punishments for the Ringer Fantasy Football League, proposing harsher, more enforceable penalties like eating cold soup or eyebrow slits, to be picked during the draft to avoid worse outcomes.
Summary:
FAQs
Ashton Jeanty suffered an ankle sprain at practice. The team initially feared it was serious, but reports suggest it's a normal ankle injury. The severity—whether it's a low or high ankle sprain—will determine his draft value, with a high ankle sprain causing a significant drop.
If it's a low ankle sprain, Jeanty should fall to the mid-second round, around 18th-20th overall. If it's a high ankle sprain, he could drop to the fourth or fifth round due to concerns about missed games and reduced explosiveness.
Yes, Mike Washington Jr. should be drafted, especially until the diagnosis is clear. He's shown explosiveness in preseason and would take early-down and goal-line work if Jeanty misses time. He's currently ranked around the 10th round in 12-team leagues.
Marvin Harrison Jr. struggled in his first two seasons due to confidence issues and a poor fit with Kyler Murray. Now with a new offensive scheme and Jacoby Brissett, he's expected to run more in-breaking routes and could outperform his eighth-round ADP.
R.J. Harvey scored 12 touchdowns as a rookie and caught 47 passes. Despite the addition of Jonah Coleman, Harvey remains the lead back on a high-scoring Broncos offense, and his role could grow if J.K. Dobbins gets injured. He's going in the ninth round, offering significant upside.
Yes, Bucky Irving is a post-hype sleeper. He was excellent as a rookie but struggled last year due to injuries and a decimated offensive line. If the line stays healthy and he returns to form, he could be a value at his current ADP, though competition from Kenny Gainwell and Sean Tucker exists.
