PMS 2.0 1660 - TNF Preview/Picks, Jason Sudeikis, Sylvester Stallone, Mark Schlabach, Kirk Herbstreit, Chuck Pagano, & AJ Hawk
3h 11m 25s
The NFL season’s Week 9 matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Jacksonville Jaguars is positioned as a pivotal game, showcasing the rise of the Jaguars as a dominant, defensive-powered team under new head coach Liam Cohen and the dynamic leadership of Trevor Lawrence. The Ravens, facing a tough road, must rely on backup quarterback Joey Fagnano, who starts with a serious ankle injury, raising questions about whether he can perform under pressure. The game is expected to be a high-stakes battle, with the Jaguars’ elite defense—having limited rushing touchdowns and holding the Colts to just 40 yards—presenting a formidable challenge to the Ravens’ running game, led by Derrick Henry. Despite a three-game losing streak, the Jaguars are now seen as a top-tier contender, with their ability to demoralize opponents and their growing confidence making them a major force in the AFC South. The matchup could signal a shift in the NFL's power dynamics, especially if the Ravens manage a surprise win. Meanwhile, broader trade discussions around quarterbacks—particularly Daniel Jones and Carson Wentz—are heating up, reflecting NFL teams' strategic realignments. The segment also highlights cultural moments, such as Jason Sudeikis joining as guest picker for Notre Dame and the enduring legacy of Sylvester Stallone, whose real-life resilience and physicality mirror the themes of perseverance and underdog success seen throughout the sports narrative. This game is not just a contest of skill, but a symbol of transformation, resilience, and the unpredictable nature of modern football.
Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our humble abode, the DraftKings Thunderdome.
Bruce is on the stick. This sports program begins now.
Football is the absolute greatest. We're so incredibly lucky that we get a chance to chat about it every single day.
And tonight, week nine of the NFL season kicks off in Baltimore as a crowd that hopes like hell that their team can survive.
In this first year, as Jesse Minter is the head coach, see themselves as 10-point underdogs at home in primetime against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Now, if you don't know, you're about to be told tonight, I do believe, about what's happening down there in Duval.
This Jacksonville Jaguars team is outrageous. Liam Cohen becomes their head coach late.
And they develop an attitude. And Trevor Lawrence develops his confidence.
And they start really humming on all cylinders. The defense is big. They're hungry. They hunt.
And Trevor Lawrence is playing football.
Like the guy we thought he was going to be whenever he's drafted out of Clemson and heralded as maybe the next John Elway or Andrew Luck.
This is the next one. Down in Jacksonville was a little bit of an abyss for a while.
Now, they gave the Colts problems on more than a few occasions.
But in all totality, the only time you saw the Jacksonville Jaguars was whenever they were playing in London,
which was potentially going to be their new home because maybe the city of Jacksonville had lost faith in the organization being something that should represent that city.
Instead, what the Jacksonville Jaguars become.
Is a dominant sleeper down in Duval that will take you not only by storm, but dominate your ass as well.
Trevor Lawrence can throw it. The defense can hunt and they can get the ball out of your hands.
And I think on display on prime tonight, you will see a Jacksonville Jaguars team excited to showcase to the world just what they've been cooking against the Baltimore Ravens team.
That, for lack of a better words, in a bad spot, just just a bad spot.
Lamar Jackson, he gets hurt on the first play after returning from another injury.
Yeah, backup quarterback who's gone to the Pro Bowl in the past for them because he's had to play whenever Lamar Jackson potentially gets injured.
He gets hurt as well. That's right.
Then they have to activate the third emergency quarterback.
Guess who he is? Who's that? Joey Fagnola. Dog.
Yeah, he's absolute dog. Whenever he was in college, he's on an NFL team. He's an NFL quarterback.
He's a backup. He's certainly a great quarterback. But is he a quarterback supposed to be on?
He gets hurt, hurts his ankle. Yeah.
So you start seeing pictures out of camp and you got Joey Fagnola with maybe a triple quadruple wrap on that ankle.
He's going out there to make.
To start for the Baltimore Ravens on primetime against the Jacksonville Jaguars team, that's an absolute wagon and a sportsbook say, oh, this is going to get ugly.
But what if? What if they find.
A little bit of success in a hopeless place.
What if Joey Fagnola actually dials this thing up?
What if on the way for Jacoby Persett heading into Baltimore, we see a team that can run through the running back now doing that against Jacksonville Jaguars is going to be tough.
I think they're the number one defensive rushing in the NFL.
They've only given up four rushing touchdowns.
So Joey Fagnola.
Was going to have to, he's going to have to be the one here.
Derrick Henry.
I think they're going to probably eliminate him from the game plan.
Everybody plans to do that.
Derrick Henry is an absolute monster.
But this Jacksonville Jaguars team, if you look at their defense, look at the stats, look how they play.
I mean, he dominated us just last week, beat us by 35, held Jonathan Taylor less than 40 yards rushing.
Jonathan Taylor is one of the best.
Obviously, we move on for Quentin Nelson.
Our offensive line is not as good.
But this team, they really demoralize squads and they just did that to the Colts.
And I think they're looking to do that on primetime to maybe get a little bit more respect going into the year.
Liam Cohen said.
I open all these websites and I see everybody talking on TV.
Caleb Williams is coming back.
That's great.
Okay, that's good news.
Oh, Los Angeles Rams.
They traded for Myles Garrett.
Okay, that's good.
How about the Jacksonville Jaguars?
Anybody talking about them?
Nobody.
Tonight could be a big, how you doing?
It's a new era.
Not only for Jacksonville, the AFC South, but the entire NFL.
That's what's possible tonight.
I think whenever it comes to optics because it could get ugly out there.
Talks tables here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt.
Ty, great to see you.
Love what you got going on.
And you.
Come in funny.
You wore that sweater today.
Is that the hometown remix for the NHL, pal?
Yeah, funny.
If it is, this is Bulldog Swayman.
Obviously, as you can see, Olympic gold medalist, the starting goaltender tonight for the Boston Bruins as they take on.
Oh, the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It's nice you to wear the silver medalist captain jersey that you got there.
I don't know.
You talk about second place in the Metro last season.
Yeah, that's what we were.
And we found ourselves back in the playoffs in the Metro.
Yeah, in the Metro and the Metropolitan.
Division, obviously.
Yeah, this is Sidney Crosby.
Young goat.
I don't know if you know about him.
Multiple gold medals.
We don't talk about where he wins those.
But let's talk about what he's done for the city of Pittsburgh.
This guy's been here for most of his adult life.
Should be considered an American at this for how many years he spent in Pittsburgh.
But he still got it.
39 years old still cooking in tonight.
I have we don't know if they're wearing these jerseys.
We thought maybe they potentially were because I think we both received them at the same exact time yesterday.
So we thought that was the case.
But we got a good one for the NHL this evening out Jags.
Ravens happening on Prime.
So you can't quad box at that is a little frustrating.
Yes, but pens Bruins happening is a big deal because I heard.
Gino Malcolm might be coming back.
Oh, is that right?
And I've heard the pens have been a bit ass or shite.
They say lost three straight tonight's a big one.
When the Bulldog Swayman has to take on young goat Sidney Crosby and the boys.
So good luck in your hometown remix jerseys if they're wearing those tonight.
And if they're not wearing those tonight, it's crazy.
We both decided to wear these on the same day.
Yeah, I believe they're wearing them.
One week from today against Montreal Canadiens.
And I think you guys were those ones two nights ago against the Vegas Golden Knights where you lost.
But yeah, I'm looking for novel.
We're close though.
We had a five on three late.
We end up losing 32.
We couldn't put it away.
So maybe we run the jerseys back because of how good we got at the end of that game.
Even though we lost that day.
Yeah, Gino Malcolm might help you but Carter Hart's no Bulldog Swayman.
So I think it might be a little tougher to score it to your point.
It's definitely a to TV night have one eye on you know, the game tonight on Prime and
then have the other right on the keen eye of the God in which will inevitably it will
be a pizzeria will turn into you're talking about.
Yeah, you're talking about the blessed.
I said, yeah, it's got a one half of the hammer died.
Cowboys AP tone huge spread tonight for a Thursday night game.
Yeah Road home dogs.
How have they fared this year?
And how are we viewing this tonight for them?
Yeah, home dogs have kind of been the story of the season.
They've been great all season long winning not just covering but winning all
season long in this situation and the Ravens are one of those, you know, if this was like
a backup quarter for any other quarterback for any other organization.
I would say yeah later 10 but the Ravens like in these situations with backup quarterbacks
before because it's not the first time the Mars been hurt have done very well in this
situation because they are a good organization.
The rest of the rest of the roster is really really good.
Even though the Jaguars, you know top five and offense top two in defense.
So it's a tough one tonight for the Ravens, but I think they will perform.
Well 10 points is a lot of points for a week on primetime.
And is there any weather who knows a little maybe a little in the second half of the rain
and you got Derrick Henry.
I mean, so Derrick Henry can really eat some clock a man that knows that his former head coach
for the Indianapolis Colts 37 years in the coaching ranks of football 18 in college 19
in the NFL our coach coach Pagano coach 10-point dog at home on Thursday night tough spot for
Jesse mentor and the boys your thoughts early before you give us a pick later.
Yeah, they're riding a three-game losing streak Jacksonville comes in.
18 and 2 over their last 20 looking back to last year going back there for their last
five Trevor Lawrence playing exactly like a MVP caliber quarterback.
The defense is humming Campanelli another good Paisan down.
They're going to be on a lot of short lists.
There's going to be eight to ten jobs open again every year in the National Football League.
This Campanelli don't do it.
Okay, he's got those boys humming down there.
I know and I appreciate the fact that Pagano Paisano with
the Julio gassing them up.
We're certainly going to find where Italians are doing well.
So let's talk about fun.
Y'all know Joey fun.
Y'all know tonight for the Baltimore Ravens.
I know you're excited about another Paisan getting an opportunity at starting quarterback.
What should we expect out of him?
Especially if he's got a bum ankle out there.
Hey, look, I do start doing some research probably like everybody else
because I don't know if anybody knew about this guy,
you know stats were last year at UConn really good 3,500 yards passing 28 touchdowns in one.
Interception.
Oh, what is that?
He's six three 230 pounds.
So he's he's a he's built cookies were good a big dude.
I know he's got this ankle going on.
But I people are fucking I mean shoes pieces.
I'm excited.
Yeah, because there's not much to like right now about this unit.
I mean we're giving up.
Being outscored in the second half by 84 points.
Like we're doing good in the first half.
I say we.
Was a former Raven obviously was there last course.
Yeah know a lot of these folks in that building.
They'll show up tonight.
They'll show up.
Finano.
Good Paisan from Abruzzo.
Same hometown as the Julio's people.
Where's this at?
It's about two hours East towards the Adriatic Ocean.
They're in Rome.
He's the Rome where Fagnano was born.
If I know has a chance tonight to make his Roman Empire start with the Ravens.
Jacoby Brissett's getting traded to the Baltimore Ravens.
Is that the backup Joey Fagnano?
Yep.
We'll see.
Have to be Thursday night football.
We know Jacoby.
We love Jacoby.
And everybody's going to know Joe Fagnano.
Okay, there's a chance.
We'll see and the Jacksonville Jaguars could demoralize them like they just did to the Indianapolis Colts a few days back.
The Jags are an incredible football team.
Have a chance to show that tonight.
It's going to kick off a magical weekend of ball.
Not that it hasn't already taken place.
I mean there was a comeback on Tuesday night.
I believe in football but week nine of the NFL season here on Thursday night kicks off a magical magical run of ball and on Saturday.
There's games galore.
That have impacts and ramifications that are going to be from a month and a half now where we're going to look back and say damn.
that saturday in november really set us to this point college game day returning to one of the
hallowed grounds of ball notre dame cannot wait to get up there story out of miami is certainly
interesting with malachi tony injury happening in practice yesterday him being out he's top three
candidate for the heisman massive piece of miami's offense will they be able to figure that out
against the backs against the wall notre dame team we shall see but what we do know every time game
day has gone to that beautiful campus where you walk around you can feel football bouncing off the
buildings there's history literally everywhere touchdown jesus is welcoming you to where we're
standing the crowd's gonna be electric yeah the guest picker legendary notre dame just announced
moments ago the guest picker for this week's college game day is jason sudeikis jason
notre dame says with deep family roots right here at notre dame
having his first game of the year he's going to be the first to be the first to be the first to
on campus feels like home ladies and gentlemen the celebrity guest picker for our return to
notre dame the iconic genius saturday night live obviously ted lasso all the movies i saw him off
broadway okay where this man was just captivating about 150 of us in real time in dead poet society
ladies and gentlemen jason sudeikis thank you gentlemen thank deep cut pat i appreciate that
i was there
you crushed it man it was uh it was it was phenomenal uh my lady and i we um we enjoy uh
vitamins you know and when you're in new york just enjoying some vitamins going to a show
we saw your name working off broadway we're like love jay said we'll just go watch him doing it
one of the greatest things i've ever experienced uh it was like the most interesting and you
crushed it which i assume you will do this weekend as well we're excited to hear you're the guest
picker can you tell me a little bit about your relationship with notre dame and marcus freeman
which i think is going to be a big part of your relationship with notre dame and marcus freeman
which i think is only growing by the moment yeah absolutely um well basically i mean yeah it's big
big in my family you know growing up my folks are from chicago my my mom from the south side
her father my grandfather was a graduate from notre dame uh i have another uncle my uncle jim
he's a graduate from notre dame 1975 my uncle george uh the actor george went legend or mine
cheers he he went to notre dame uh dropped out after his junior year
uh because he skipped all his finals so you know uh this is this is the way it all it all went down
and then i went to the basketball camp there in sixth grade so you know that's you know
it went further and further down yeah and you just dropped out early this is the pinnacle of
my notre dame yeah exactly right yeah you know me and uh digger pelps we didn't see eye to eye
i didn't have what it what it took and so you know that's fine and we're okay with that where
we've moved past it okay so jason tell me about you
being the character ted lasso i think athletes coaches the sports world we thought it was gonna
i think as a lot of people have probably told you in your world you take this character that's
supposed to be for bits and make it into an entire show a lot of us were worried like hell
the ted lasso character that we had seen in bits and spurts was going to get ruined instead what
we watched was this beautiful display of leadership and accountability and storytelling and i think the
athletics world fell in love with the character that is ted lasso in the coaching style in which
he had been in the sports world for a long time and he's been in the sports world for a long time
he has can you tell me a little bit about that is that how you feel and is that how you marcus
freeman have maybe linked up and become friends and how many other coaches or players have reached
out and been like hey we really like the way you depict a coach uh in ted lasso well i love it seven
questions at a time baby yeah your floor jason yeah your floor your floor uh well i'll tell you
what man no one was more worried about us blowing it than than those of us that were making it so
we appreciate you know the people on the outside having their thoughts feelings and opinions as
people outside of locker room and i think that's a really good point and i think that's a really good
point and i think that's a really good point and i think that's a really good point and i think that's a really good point
opportunity because there is such a, with most things, you know, a gatekeeper mentality there.
And the fact that we, as a bunch of, you know, Americans were allowed to come in there and,
and have some, so much fun and, and, and thought and feeling within the realm that they created,
you know, over a hundred years ago has been really, really special for us. But yeah, man,
like when you start striking a nerve with people in the sports world, because, you know, sports
and music are those, are those wonderful places and the arts in general, that you can really see
people come together and have, and realize how much we're a little bit more similar and how much
we all really go through a lot of the same stuff together, even though lots of folks tell us
otherwise. And, uh, it was really, really neat for us that, that the fact that folks in the sports
world liked it and folks in the comedy world liked it, uh, we were proud of what we did.
We were proud of how we did it. And yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's still, uh, humbles me and shocks
me, uh, each step of the way. And the most recent one towards your, uh, your seventh question, uh,
is, uh, over the summer, my, uh, my son and I were at fanatics fest, uh, out there in, uh, New York
and we got to run around, you know, see a bunch of cool, like sports family memorabilia by, you
know, trading cards, making deals, uh, but then getting to meet some folks, you know, getting to
hold like the NBA, you know, championship trophy as it was handed to me by a cat.
But then one of the neatest experiences was the fellow we were walking around with my buddy,
Alex was like, Hey, uh, coach Freeman would really love to say hi to you. I was like, well,
awesome. Like, that's great. Like I would love to meet him. Uh, and we got to, you know, chat for,
you know, I met with him, few of his players, CJ car, a couple of the other fellows, a couple
other alums, they were doing like some signings or some greetings or whatnot. And I got to sit
there and, and, and chat with him. And I told him about, again, my, my family's history with the,
uh, with, uh, the university and specifically the fact that I went, my very first Notre Dame
football game that I went to was October 15th, 1988. The, you know, the,
uh, um, you know, the Catholics versus convicts game as it was, as it was known way back then.
And, uh, he was like, well, Oh, this is hilarious. I'm literally, this is a garbage truck right next
to me. Hey, this is my studio. This is what we do, baby. We appreciate them keeping the streets
clean. Absolutely. Thank you. Yes. Um, but anyway, I was at that game. I went to that game with my
dad, with my, with my uncles, with my, with my grandfather that I mentioned, uh, my dad bought
from a guy sitting right in front of us for like, he was like, Hey, where'd you get that t-shirt?
He goes out in the park for 10 bucks. My dad was like, I'll give you a hundred for it. And I watched
my dad give a guy a hundred bucks. The guy took it off in the, you know, in like the cold October
weather and took it right off the shirt and get my dad threw it to me. Like he was mean Joe green.
And I wore that, I wore that thing thin man. Uh, and I told Marcus, you know, our coach Freeman,
the story, uh, and he goes, we're playing them this year. I go, well, you know, we're playing
him again this year. I go, well, you've played him since then. He goes, well, you've played him
the first time in South Bend since that game, you got to come, uh, bring your son and be my
guest. And so I was like, yes, sir. I mean, just like his players, just like a lot of moms that
let their young men go, go, go, uh, leave home for the first time and go play, uh, go to school
there. I was like, yes, sir. And so that's what we're doing. We're coming, we're coming out and
going to be, uh, hanging out with, uh, my buddy, Brendan Hunt, who plays coach beard on the show.
He's going to be there. Uh, a few of my cousins are going cause they still have my grandfather's
seats. And yeah, I, I much like all of us when we watched Disney plus and watch these star Wars
movies with our young kids, I'm going to get to relive my childhood, uh, with the, uh, Miami
versus Notre Dame game, man. That's magical. I can't wait to hear how it goes for you. I'm excited
and thankful you're coming and with inflation, I mean, no, no, 1988, a hundred dollars. So
inflation 2026, it's about how much a t-shirt is going to cost this weekend. Yeah. But I'm saying
you need to negotiate a deal with somebody out there.
I mean, I mean, you might have to offer it. I might be my dad, my dad's smooth and lovely and
funny and, and, and loquacious and outgoing, but that was the most Frank Sinatra move I had ever
seen that man pull off. And I was flattered and astounded, not as much as the guy in front of me
that got the a hundred bucks, but still, I was like, that was, that was a pretty dope move. I
hope my son doesn't expect the same. Yeah. That's what I'm saying right now. You better have that
number in your head. You got to go in there with what you got to go in there with some ideas on
what you're willing to do. Yeah. So bring Floyd Mayweather's,
uh, backpack. Yeah.
We can't wait to see you up there. We're appreciative that you're doing it. Uh,
we have coach Pagano here. Who's obviously a massive fan of Ted Lasso. He has a question
for you. Go ahead, coach. Coach. What's your message? Good to see you. What's your message
to this Irish team? Let's say you're given the pregame speech. What's your message to them
ahead of this massive, uh, matchup against UM?
You know, coach, coach Holtz is watching. What do you got for him?
Oh, that's pretty deep. I mean, that's real. Coach Holtz, by the way, they're honoring him
throughout the game. They're putting lights throughout the stadium. I believe Jerome Bettis
will be doing something as well. I saw him post about it. It's going to be an emotional
weekend in South Bend. It's backs against the wall for this Notre Dame team. I mean, for real,
have to win, must win. Uh, and hopefully you'll get all your picks, right? I think you're going
to go perfect, Ted. Perfect. Great. No expectations. I love that. When you're writing these speeches,
as a motivational coach, where are you drawing from? Like, do you ask coaches? Do you go to like
previous movies? Like, how are you writing these speeches that coaches are given on a regular,
but these coaches are trying to reach their players. No matter what sport it is, you're
trying to reach your players. However you can for certain moments for Ted Lassie, you have to give
like a second chance. You have to give like a second chance. You have to give like a second
speech as a coach every single episode and they're all good seemingly no no offense or pressure but
they're all good where do you where do you draw from how do you go about doing that yeah well i
mean i do i will say this editing and music helps you know that like that gets both fired up you
know um so i right i recommend that for any coaches just you know throw on the ted lasso
theme or the rocky theme underneath underneath whatever you're saying and uh it'll get you get
people cooking um you know some of it is references to movies obviously like we did one this last
season where i'm sort of you know referencing there's no crying in baseball saying that there
is crying in football um but but then a lot of times it's sort of like when i've felt certain
ways what would i've loved what would i've loved the best part of me like my wisest self say to me
when i thought i needed it because that'd be an example like i was saying like where anything that
the folks are going on in the show we like to
you know we like to
pull from stuff that we've all gone through so if you're sitting around in a writer's room of 10
people and one person starts telling a story and then each of the other nine start going oh i went
through something like that i went through you know a version of that my own version of that
uh metaphorically or you know directly then you again you realize oh sometimes we just need
to realize uh that like the right medicine shows up amongst the group of us and you're just like
okay what would i if i could predict the end of this as we get to it in a television show
what would be the most helpful thing to hear and say so i think you know as a as a fake coach
i think you know what are you trying to get out of these what are you trying to get out of these uh
these characters and what are you hoping an audience pulls from it it's probably not too
different than what you want out of your players and what you hope you know they're fans you know
uh one i i would assume you know i've never coached for real my daughter's basketball team but
you know that was mostly just about getting to stop dribbling the ball and pay attention
yeah yeah understandable yeah it kind of ran out of my head and i was like oh my god i'm not gonna
hang there yeah i get it not motivating yeah exactly right yeah so um i think you need to know
though you need to know it is hey jay said you need to know that yeah like you're obviously
talking to richmond fc and richmond wfc as ted lasso but i think the reason why we like it so
much and all your speeches resonate because it feels like you're coaching us at home like we're
taking little tidbits away from you in our life so it's crazy that you've been able to resonate
uh you say comedy and sports but it's every person that watches pulls something from the
speakers are trying to do this shit every single fucking day on it uh on social media
very rarely reach coaches are trying to reach everything very you every episode and when we
thought it was over incredible ending you come back everybody's like oh no once again you talk
about people outside the writer's room going oh no what are you doing and then we're all watching
and it's like damn they did it yet again it's it's phenomenal stuff you should know you're very
talented in this realm and we hope uh you continue to explore that and i think it's because you're an
awesome uh that you're going back to notre dame this weekend excited to see that but in terms of
your uh your nfl fandom your chiefs are you uh are you worried about this team i mean i know that
listen they lost to the seahawks and the denver and the broncos both on the road but what's kind
of the temperature of chiefs fans right now i think it's the uh the calm before the storm i
think this is this one you want to lose you don't want to lose in december and january so like let's
let's let's get that feeling out of our out of our system now and and
uh yeah it's not it's nice to have you know i think again if i were writing the story it's this
is the second act you want people to have some doubts i don't know i don't know if luke skywalker
has got it in him you know i don't know i don't know if he's if he's ready i don't know if he
knows how to use a lightsaber i don't think i think the force may have control of him versus
the other way around but it's uh it's been it's been fun that we have we have our our you know
this charity event we do called the big slick and we have this uh text chain with like me and paul
uh heidi gardner uh eric stone street dave kechner all of us from kansas the kansas city area
and there's a lot of enthusiasm there a lot of storytellers in there that are like yeah yeah
that's all right we're just in the we're just in the forest right now we're getting ready to come
out of uh through the through the uh the back end of this hero's journey that we're all we're all
hoping for and i know all of america wants for us yes yes everybody wants to see the chiefs win
definitely that is exactly everybody i like that's what i that's what i sense i like the
descriptor of the group text a lot of storytelling
i mean we we got a lot of people spinning a lot of narratives in there right now all very
entertaining uh very very good gift game very good gift game amongst them all right we'll tell
all of them we appreciate their uh contributions to society and we appreciate you taking the trip
to south bend this weekend we'll see you then absolutely thanks for having me hey tell that
garbage truck great job too you know from all of us they're already off they're off they keep
motoring they they had they only know that they're now that they were on the pat mcafee show i mean
they'll find out soon i'm sure
i mean i hope so that was one of the best garbage truck appearances we've seen especially if they
were that efficient everyone's yeah yeah because they're driving those sticks these days you know
they pick the thing up and drop the thing and it's picking it up like i'll say the the days that
they're running out of the back and jumping and doing the toss those are kind of old it's like a
rocket show let your kids play video games just let your kids play video games that's the future
no yeah no easy chalk we don't need it so that's the worst babysitter in the world don't do it
we don't need it for the third week in a row christ yeah sorry he's gotten
his speech a couple times yeah he's he's about sick of it we're done with it too uh you're the
man ladies and gentlemen guest picker this weekend jason said that off broadway thing he was really
good he's honest you know hear him start talking about everything it's like oh this is all very
very very very deeply thought out which uh when he was at saturday night live what was the they
had a crew i mean it was unbelievable yeah it was one of those things where in the moment it wasn't
like a legendary crew and now it feels like looking back on it it was like just superstars
the theme song for mbc mbc
uh mbc right yeah tim robbins mbc basically basketball give me give me give me
jason what a stud gonna be a guest picker in notre dame i i like the notre dame announcement
by the way notre dame also i think were the ones that were like we'd love for this to be the case
um him and marcus freeman's relationship i think is like that with a lot of coaches i think there's
a lot of coaches that i don't want to speak for every coach but you guys are trying to draw
motivation from a lot of coaches i think there's a lot of coaches that i don't want to speak for
them a lot of things i assume there's been multiple coaches in multiple professional leagues
that have saw a ted lasso episode saw an angle in which a speech was going oh that's actually not a
bad idea i'm gonna pull from that he's incredible at that that's not an easy thing to do motivate
inspire reach not look corny not look fake not disrespect coaches because anytime you're playing
a coach for instance i'm playing a drill instructor from world war ii it's like there's going to be
drill instructors that think i'm the most disrespectful person of all time which is what i
possibly could but coaches are a miserable group of people i mean normally a miserable group now
this ted lasso guy's portraying a coach and he's super happy okay this must be nice fairy tale life
taking biscuits into the owner every single day and doing this so for him to win those people over
i think was a very difficult test just with how you guys the jib in which you all were cut
is a manner in which to hell with that i mean jeff sardy got hired as a head coach did you
hear the coaches yeah yeah weren't happy not they were not i mean it's just like uh
yeah he's looking at these eyes yeah it is a uh it's a real thing so i appreciate him i must call
him ted cannot wait for coach to be there this weekend okay let's talk about some things since
we have uh coach pagano here trade market heating up in a big way tonight jacksonville
baltimore huge storylines already baltimore is trading for jacoby brissett the trade should be
finalized by today they're saying but obviously won't be in time for him to play he will next
monday night i believe they play uh the chargers he will be ready for if that is
you know necessary after how joey fagnano plays exactly there's been some names though in this
trade market it's quarterback position uh both for the ravens and maybe the vikings that have
been out there maybe kirk cousins raiders have come out and said no way we're not going to do
that jacoby brissett as soon as he gets deemed third uh string for the cardinals his name's going
up for trade is daniel jones getting traded away from the indianapolis bulls is that about to
it feels like we it had been mentioned in our show i assume others had mentioned it as well as people
are piecing things together with what the colts are currently doing we do not have a one coming
up but we do have a plethora of other picks but we still do not have a number one overall pick in
this upcoming draft because we traded it away for sauce gardner who's still on our team which is
great news to forest buckner we trade him away for a fourth round pick yeah fourth round pick
jeffrey simmons goes for two ones and a four uh
jeffrey simmons game wrecker absolute stud we believe so is deforest buckner even though
deforest buckner is fresh off of a very serious neck injury he played great this year has played
great this year and has proven to be an incredible player nonetheless we couldn't get a third round
pick for a second round pick jeffrey simmons goes for two ones and a four deforest buckner
three years older coming off an injury okay only goes for a four quentin nelson has been an all pro
literally since he stepped foot in the nfl out of notre dame we only get a third and a fifth round
but hey interior offensive lineman that's just what it is it's like well we're trading away all
our good players we're not getting much in return a quarterback though potentially under a uh easily
navigatable contract which i think he's only owed 35 million next year or whatever and then his
guarantees are done and that case is daniel jones about to hit the trading block i guess that is the
big conversation that's kind of starting to heat up right now and if it is it'd be back to a place
in which he knows minnesota vikings he was literally just there and then you start thinking
yourself as the colts does that mean everybody's getting traded that when are these trades
happening
How are these trades happening?
But Daniel Jones getting traded feels like it is more open discussion
than it has been.
Ty, do you agree with that?
Yeah, yeah, without a doubt.
And I think the big question was just contractually.
How does that work?
What does the new team have to pick up?
What's the dead cap?
All that kind of stuff.
But I think it's pretty clear that once the Colts traded to Forrest Buckner
and Quentin Nelson and then said, hey, we're willing to listen on Jonathan Taylor,
it's kind of open season now.
And obviously he hasn't played the best, so I think ripping that Band-Aid off
and kind of again saying, hey, what do we have in Anthony Richardson?
We kind of need to see.
But, yeah, I mean, I didn't think there was any way it was going to happen,
but you listen to some of the insiders now.
It seems like there is a very good chance that this is going to happen.
It's just the Vikings, I mean, I feel like Carson Wentz has played fairly decent
for them, so I feel like this is a big swing for, I mean,
unless you truly believe that Daniel Jones is much better than Carson Wentz.
Well, let's see what Carson Wentz does.
He's on Monday Night Football against Josh Allen.
We are Carson Wentz fans.
The Carson Wentz experience is one that I'm happy he's no longer on our team,
but I do enjoy watching him play football,
and I do enjoy the fact that he was a part of the Colts.
So that's an interesting, it's kind of a juxtaposition here.
And I have no idea how his family and friends are able to survive watching him
play football because they say he's played like this his entire life.
And it has led him to an MVP-type conversation, and then he got hurt,
and obviously Nick Foles goes in.
And wins the Super Bowl that year, and then all hell breaks loose
over there with Carson Wentz and his career.
But at his peak, when he's playing good football,
he is top five quarterback in the NFL.
Top six, I'll say.
Just because, if there's an argument, I would like to add one more person.
Top six quarterback in the NFL right now, whenever he's playing his best.
Carson Wentz?
When he's playing his absolute best, he's extending plays.
He's throwing it all over the place.
He's got Addison and Justin Jefferson out there.
Now, if they get a running back in this entire thing,
which I think about even though Aaron Jones is back there,
yes, his upside, which is coming for at least a quarter.
Why are you laughing?
Why are you guys laughing?
Top five.
He's top six.
Top six.
At his best, if everyone else is at their worst, I agree.
No, him at his absolute best.
You guys are letting all the other shit get in the way,
which is the other side of Carson Wentz.
Then there are some decisions where you think to yourself,
man, this is a bottom quarterback.
He might even be top 50.
He doesn't get hurt in Philly.
Who wins the MVP Super Bowl year?
Carson Wentz.
There we go.
That was like eight years ago.
Hold on, though.
Just a couple years ago, he was on the Colts.
And Aaron Rodgers is 42 and playing at MVP level.
Aaron Rodgers and Carson Wentz.
Let's not do that.
Let's not do that.
We're not doing that.
I'm just as far as age.
As far as age, you're saying eight years ago.
But on that note, Carson Wentz at his absolute best.
One of the top quarterbacks.
I think top six in the NFL.
When he's not, though, which does happen, and it will happen,
and we will see it in every game in which he plays somehow, some way.
He's worst quarter, maybe not even showing up being the XFL.
So it's like it is such a crazy polar performance that could come from Carson Wentz.
And I guess we just kind of hope that Kevin O'Connell will be able to bring out
at least a mediocre or above mediocre because with the way that Vikings' defense is,
with the pieces they have on the offensive side,
Will Riker just missed his first kick maybe in four years.
Their punter bombs balls.
It's like the Vikings, if they have a quarterback,
go and do a lot of great things.
He doesn't have to be anything but average, though.
He can actually see the receivers down the field.
Okay.
Farley.
No, I'm serious.
And he doesn't have to be an MVP.
He doesn't have to play at that level.
To your point, Pat, about the way the defense is, the special teams,
B-flow, the way they are.
Just don't turn the ball over.
Take care of it.
Push it down the field to your receivers.
Hand the ball off.
You don't need it.
You just need average with that defense.
This is all we've been talking about.
We've been saying for multiple years now.
Yes, it is.
After they move on from Sam Darnold,
Sam Darnold goes on to win Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks,
sign a new deal, have success after winning 14 regular season games
with the Minnesota Vikings three years ago.
They move on from him, and all the conversation is,
we just need above average quarterback play.
We just need above average quarterback play.
And then we watch the team this year.
They only have one loss.
It's like, I think they kind of only need above average quarterback play.
Will Carson Wentz be that guy?
I don't think so.
I don't know if he'll just be cool with being above average.
He's going to want to.
Yeah.
He's going to want a Carson Wentz this thing.
And when that hits, nobody can touch.
I mean, we saw it with our eyes.
This guy, he was in the end zone to win the AFC South.
Yep.
Fourth quarter.
We're down.
No, maybe it's a tie game.
I forget what it was.
They were like up four, maybe.
Yeah, whatever it was.
Maybe we're in it.
This is bad.
He's in his own end zone.
He's about to get sacked, probably by Jeffrey Simmons.
Probably.
Jeffrey Simmons probably has him in the end zone.
Takes ball, switches to left hand, shot puts it.
Straight up in the air.
Other team.
Pick six.
Zero yards.
Never seen it before.
Comes back out.
Very next drive.
Very next drive.
Scrambling.
Runs around.
Puts ball on ground.
Keeps himself up.
Boom.
Who's down there?
Michael Pittman.
Triple covered.
Who cares?
Wham.
Michael Pittman goes up.
Catches it.
60 yard game.
We're literally, how is that the worst play we've ever seen?
Literal next play.
Oh, my God.
This guy's the best.
That is what Carson Wentz has the capability.
So, if we get him with the ball on the ground balancing act, we're getting back up.
We find Michael Pittman in the middle of triple coverage and he makes a play.
Good.
Left hand shot put in end zone.
He sprained both his ankles on one play.
He did.
He sprained his ankles because he didn't want to.
We caught him two springs.
Yeah.
Because he didn't want to give up a play.
He wanted a touchdown.
So, if Kevin O'Connell can wrangle that, he might be in the Super Bowl.
Sure.
But it sounds like they don't think they can, which is why they're kicking the tires on Dan Jones.
I think they just need to exhaust all options.
Okay.
Okay?
Ladies and gentlemen, let's get away from the NFL and trade deadline because it is certainly
a topic that will continue to be discussed.
Joining us now is an icon.
No other way to describe it.
An absolute legend.
A New York Times bestseller.
A man who has put up $7.5 billion at the box office.
Paisano.
My hero.
Yeah, yeah.
Paisano.
Ladies and gentlemen, you might know him as Manfredi.
You might know him as. Rocky.
Rambo.
Gabe Walker.
You might know him as Barney Ross.
Bingo.
Ladies and gentlemen, an absolute legend.
His book, The Steps, is available now.
Sylvester Stallone.
Yes!
Why?
Thank you.
Hey, hey.
Paisano.
Hey.
Hey, what's up?
Anyway, my God.
You are. I didn't realize how fantastic you are at your job.
My God.
And you never get a sore throat.
Amazing.
Well, there's been a couple years where I've had to build it up.
You know, like, I believe last year.
Yeah, the muscle.
Yeah.
And then this off-season, I didn't really rest it as much.
I just kept yelling, kept singing, kept doing stuff.
And I feel like it's going to just drop out of me at some point.
But I am very lucky to do my job.
I am very lucky to get to experience the things that I do.
And one of them was getting a chance to work alongside you.
And I want to. I want to let you know, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to watch you do your thing.
Your family was so kind.
That entire Tulsa King family down there, everybody that's a part of it, were so kind to me.
I appreciate you, man.
Keep going.
Which one. I want to ask you now.
50 years in this business.
Okay?
Yeah, a long time.
Yeah.
Yeah, but your energy's remarkable.
I'm watching you hand-rewrite scripts in between takes inside the RV.
Can you just tell me why that is the case?
And how do you feel at this. At this stage of your career versus maybe in the past?
Because from what I saw, it was unbelievable to watch you do your thing still.
Thank you so much.
You know, it's. People say, do you have nothing left to prove?
But as you say in your profession, you're not even thinking about proving.
This is what the animal does.
This is basically how I perceive life.
It's just constantly working it.
I mean, we finished a 12-hour writing marathon last night.
My wife had to. Pulled me away from the table.
Because, you know, you get into that almost meditative state.
You just don't want to stop because it's flowing.
And I've been very, you know, gifted in having that attribute.
And I just don't want to rest on laurels.
Just keep going and going and going.
And, you know, just like the challenge of the book.
The same thing.
It's just trying to show that everyone can sort of be the hero in their own life.
You know, if you've gone through some really horrible things, you can list them.
And they're terrible.
Yet, you got to the other side and you're still standing, having been through all these trials and tribulations.
You're actually a hero.
You know, not a movie hero, a real-life hero.
So, that's why I wrote the book, really, to convey that.
How long did it take for you to write that book?
You just talked about 12 hours of writing last night.
I literally, with my own eyes, watched you rewrite an entire scene for Tulsa King that was going to be shot the next day.
And then somebody had to come take a picture of him rewriting it because it's all digital these days.
But he doesn't do the digital.
He's still doing the handwriting thing.
So, they had to take a picture.
Get a look.
Yeah, exactly.
And still send it over there.
But how long did the book take for you to write?
And did you find yourself emotional revisiting some of those things?
Excited?
How did you see it?
No, it gets emotional.
Because what happens, I think you suppress a lot of memories from the past, especially when they're not very favorable.
And then you have to dig in.
And it gets to a point.
Sometimes you don't want to go all the way down, Pat, because I didn't want the world to, oh, it's a pity party.
Look.
Poor guy, it's just enough everybody.
I've always said it has this kind of movie in them.
No one has it all, you know, green lights and blue skies.
There's a lot of trials and tribulations.
So when you dig into that, I mean, sometimes you're crying on the page.
Sometimes you have a bittersweet feeling.
But it's like a time machine.
It's very, very, I guess you could call it therapeutic because, you know, you survived it.
So that's good therapy.
But the main thing is it took about two years to answer your question because it was every time, you know, you finish something and you go back and you go, who wrote this crap?
What person came in the middle of the night and rewrote me?
That was a certain time where the brain flow was not as magical as it is right now.
I appreciate that you're a perfectionist and it does feel like you're continuing trying to better everything you're a part of, which leads me to how do you feel about?
I play a Rocky movie.
I think I've seen the guy.
I've seen him talk now in the way he looks.
He looks and sounds just like I don't know how many people have tried to impersonate you throughout your life.
Probably everybody.
But what are your thoughts on the I play a Rocky movie?
OK.
At first, I went in there being incredibly skeptical because usually they make these movies after you've kicked the bucket.
They're doing it while you're alive so you can critique it.
When I saw his.
His auto tape that he did in the beginning, I thought I was sort of looking at myself and go, I went to my daughter's.
I go, is this is authentic as it looks?
Oh, my God.
You know, is that kind of reaction?
And I said, do I really talk like that?
Yeah, that's that's the truth.
So I ran the film and it's still in its work print form, Pat.
And I went, damn, damn, this is this is literally history repeated.
And it's still in its work print form.
Almost on the same date, 50 plus years ago in November.
And it's so surreal because I think this kid's going all the way.
I think he might be walking down the aisle on this one.
You know, he might be grabbing the trophy because this is not him.
This is not his engine at all.
He's a very different character than I am.
So this was a real portrayal that he built from the ground up because, you know, he's not that physical type, but he became.
Very strong, very physical.
So you like it?
Oh, yeah, I do.
Yeah, OK.
Sounds like you like because you're not it's not necessarily your film, right?
Like you talked about.
No, I wanted nothing to do with it, Pat.
They came to me, said, I would like to be a producer.
Absolutely not, because I don't want people to think that I'm sitting there, you know, doing a puff piece for some money grab.
So, no, I had nothing.
Zero.
I have no idea.
I didn't.
They didn't even read my book.
This is all original on their behalf.
Wow.
So I want to let you know, then, that congratulations on living a life in which there are people making full movies about things that you've accomplished and you've done in the past.
You're an American dream story, Paisan.
And I hope you get these flowers and take these flowers as they're happening from outside of your world.
Now, the boys have some questions about your legendary run.
Connor has the first one.
Yeah, Mr. Stallone, it's an honor.
But everyone kind of knew of you from, you know, the big screen movies and everything.
And now with Tulsa King, it's much different being a TV.
What were the challenges for you going from movies to TV and just the difference in production and everything?
And did you kind of dislike the idea originally when it was like, hey, you could start doing TV, whereas you're so used to doing, you know, big pictures on the big screen?
Well, the truth is, I really embraced it because I we myself and Arnold were at the really the beginning and maybe the end of the real action genre, per se, before it became.
You know, you know, Marvel World.
So my I've been cloaked in like a really more of a outdoor physical look for years.
And now in Tulsa King, you're completely covered.
So the only thing you have going for yourself is this, that you have to convey through this.
Actually, you don't have muscles.
You don't have explosions.
You don't have this kind of cast of thousands.
So I love it because to me, it just it came along.
I don't know.
If I could do this at 35 years old, it's like there's a worldliness.
As you know, Pat, there's a heaviness that, you know, I bring to the character that is experienced, which gives it authenticity.
So to answer your question, I think it's fantastic.
If I never did another film again, I wouldn't be, you know, be remorseful.
This more than enough checks my boxes.
You know, watching you piece together an entire scene is it's I mean, I was just sitting there just watching it all come together.
I'm watching a master at work right now.
Like, I am literally doing that.
And I everybody else on set feels the same exact way because your folks at your show there were so kind to me.
They knew that I wasn't like a very, very deep actor.
You know, it wasn't like something I was very comfortable with.
So everybody was so kind, so welcoming.
And then there was a lot of people that were just like cash.
Most importantly, it was like, hey, whenever Sly starts talking, just if you want to learn it, just kind of just like what I just kind of just watch him.
Yeah, he's the best.
But it is.
It is very cool to watch you do your thing and be a part of it.
And there's no reason I should be.
And the fact that you guys let me in there was so kind.
I want to let you know that slot.
Now, you brought an authenticity that a lot of actors can't achieve because they act.
And when you you are and that's what you when you came on there, I said, this guy's killing it because he's not trying to be anything other than himself.
It's like, OK, if Pat now was a professional cop, this would be his.
His personality, he wouldn't try to be dour or loud.
So what you delivered was exactly who you are.
And that made it so real.
So don't don't underestimate your presence.
Everyone loved it, by the way.
OK, cool.
Everybody was kind to me.
I enjoyed it.
I'm excited to watch.
First episode I was part of comes out last Friday.
I believe this one where you and me share a scene together, which.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You should.
I'm shitting my pants before that.
You know that, right?
You know that that's happening.
It is.
It's nerve wracking.
This is a whole.
This is.
It's like me going, hey, you want to play quarterback for the Ravens?
Like, nah, thanks anyway.
Yeah.
In this scene right here, it's literally me and him at a at a table.
And we ended here a little bit early than what it gets into.
But it's this is a real scene.
It's real ramifications and real story that's taking place in there.
So it was it was cool to be there.
Thank you for the opportunity.
I know you guys are shooting right now, but season four is from everything I know about it as Tulsa.
King fan.
I original Tulsa King fan.
So whenever the opportunity is presented, it's like I know the story.
I literally know everybody that's in it.
I understand the situation.
So that was easy for me.
But then reading through what I got to read through, which isn't the entire season, but
certainly the parts I was part of, I'm like, oh, season four is damn good.
Not easy to get seasons like that and keep people in.
I'm glad you said that because you've lost the element of surprise.
So people think, oh, it's just a sequel is a money grab.
Quite often it is.
But it's very hard.
Don't press the audience like with Rocky.
I was the key was I had to get a bigger, tougher opponent.
That was it.
I had to get.
It's all about the villain.
So in this show, the one that you're in, we have some major villains which really kind of propel the show.
Yeah, I think so.
And I I'm honored to be a part of it.
Watching myself and everything is still kind of a bit weird.
You know, it never will get easy.
I'm just warning you.
Well, I want to let you know your kindness is real.
I had.
Peter Berg coached me up and then I had Sylvester Stallone saying the words of the words, the words of the words.
You're a good hand.
You're a good hand.
Yeah, I'm trying to.
I'm trying my absolute best.
I am.
I absolutely am.
Ty has a question for you, Rocky.
Yes, Sly.
You just mentioned how sequels are money grabs.
And first and foremost, I just want to say, if you ever consider doing a cliffhanger sequel, I will write you a blank check right now.
So that may be true.
But I'm still I'm still waiting for that.
But I am curious when it comes to Rocky and Rambo.
And I guess, you know, pretty much the Expendables as well.
While you're making the initial movie, did you have any idea that it was going to spawn so many sequels?
And, you know, like, hey, I'm going to be able to play these characters for the next 40 years of my life.
Like, could you feel that while you were making the first one of all those different franchises?
I sort of did, because you don't know quite yet how it's going to turn out.
But in the middle, there's this kind of sixth sense you go.
This is a good film, and I can work with this because this character can go on.
And also, you know, when it's a turkey and you have another six months to film, I know it's going.
We all know we're going down.
It's not like everyone gets together.
How do we make a bomb?
But it happens quite often.
And it's a drag.
But, yes, you know, certain ones work, you know, like Stop or My Mom Will Shoot will never be made again.
You know what I mean?
What about Cliffhanger?
He's in a blank check.
Cliffhanger, the fact is that time has moved on.
I think that film came out in, like, 93.
So it would be pretty hard to be that I would still be coming to the side of it.
No, we believe you would.
We believe you would.
This is the highest grossing.
Your protege.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Look at those fingers.
They're ready to walk in there like Alex Honnold.
Highest grossing action hero of all time.
Okay, no questions asked.
Whenever you talk about that world.
He's also maybe the greatest stogie smoker in the history of television.
vision and cameras go ahead tone yeah mr sloan as a uh fellow stogie smoker um you are one of the
most famous cigar smokers in the world not because you i'll go out there and you always you're doing
it on film or anything but people know that you do right all the time and do you have any recommend
since you've been doing i believe you quit because of uh rocky you quit smoking cigarettes and moved
to cigars during rocky so as a 50 year cigar smoker do you have any recommendations what's
your favorite type a connecticut rapper a dark rapper anything else that we should be i'm gonna
give you this wow this is a new cigar affectionate magazine no one has seen it i'm giving it to you
a month early that's awesome thank you sly i the fallback cigar to me has always been money crystal
number two the bullet the torpedo i mean speaking there's just a kind of a foolproof cigar i think
but that will put you in the poor house after about a box of those you're geez i gotta get a
second job and i've actually started to come out i just literally have one coming out by the money
crystal brand that will probably launch in about six months i think it's going to be called 72
which it represents the steps it's really quite beautiful the cigar so it looks just like a money
crystal but you know you find your own blend like i tend to like a cigar that doesn't knock you on
your ass yes because i've had those i've had cigars so strong past it i go out to the first
team and i'm like oh my god i'm gonna get a cigar i'm gonna get a cigar i'm gonna get a cigar i'm gonna get
tea at nine in the morning and i literally took a swing and fell can't have that i took a knee i
took a knee on the first tee i go i gotta stop right here this is that's how strong the cigars
were so i'm trying to make it a little less brutal okay so you got a monty cristo cigar coming out
72 in six months we'll take 10 boxes and then um you got it it's on the way it's called 72
has this been announced yet no no not exactly but the the whole process
it's really quite remarkable when you put it all together because it's it's just gorgeous i mean it
really is i wish i was i i if i had planned ahead of time i would have shown it because there's so
much there's so much going on here when when they do the whole with the deck you know and it's all
it's beautiful and the steps it's gonna be pretty major i'm gonna i'm gonna really go out and promote
it that and you know the vodka that we talk about and i wanted that dwight wants to get into the
liquor business
because it's naturally with gangsters so we went out and we literally started a vodka called
carbonati which we go to italy and that was you work it into the show yeah of course live the
gimmick brother yeah live the gimmick i love it because you are you know dwight the general man
freddie on set and you know it feels like you do pull from your life now what what happens you know
behind the scenes the general's got to do what the general's got you know the general's got to
handle the business that he's got to handle but you know the general's got to handle the business
but i like how real the sets i walked into i mean it's an actual bar down there the buck it is actual
bar the bread the buck yeah yeah bread the buck they have it's an actual bar full you could have
a they could open that up and people would be like this is an actual bar yeah then they have a uh what
the winery the winery you guys build an entire winery it's like you walk into italy this entire
thing is kind of happening the sets are immaculate everything's so professional that you do thank you
for giving us the heads up about cigar aficionado a month out thank you for giving us a head
uh heads up about 72 monte cristo coming out in six months and if you want to break any more news
uh you said you were writing yesterday for 12 hours and yeah yeah you know you see because we
this season it we're in new york right now as you can see we're filming
oh hey because we thought that tulsa it needed to be upgraded like we we pretty much we burned
tulsa to the ground now we need to a new hunting ground so where do the gangsters go where do the
gangsters come from new york so i come back and it's going to be a really interesting should dwight
have ever come back can you really go back home again and reclaim your youth and the answer is
not really you know you have to accept you have to accept transition and be graceful about it you
cannot have what was in the past it's never quite the same you know you might get it but it isn't
as romantic as you think it's going to be so it's a really interesting story we have some very bad
guys there's so many different gangs now in new york i can just keep shooting all day they still
come out like cockroaches well good luck out in new york uh general and i don't want to spoil
anything but if you need a detective you know you just you just let old was the act no you know you
you let detective was the act no if you need anything that's right was the act you got it
back keep punching thank you you're the man ladies and gentlemen that's new york times bestseller
sylvester
yay
there's a bunch of them shooting in new york a bunch of people just watching them in the middle
of the street shoot you know and i'm seeing like the people that i've met on set in the back i'm
like man it's really cool like they've done an incredible job with that show but the people on
that show have been around like makeup costume uh shooters you know that director is interesting um
and i don't know if this out is for everything but i think because of it being a series a show
you you rotate the
directors i guess so like movie director is director peter bird for instance did the mosquito
bowl then go to tulsa king i went down there multiple different times had different directors
for it and i guess they rotate them to get more people in there more opportunities or whatever it
is but he's rewriting the scripts for the tomorrow shoot literally by hand in his rv and then somebody
from the show who's been there for 10 years comes in and they take a picture of it then they send it
in the group it says uh sly wants to change
blah blah blah to tomorrow and then they take a picture then somebody has to type that up then it
gets put in the thing and then it gets shot right back to us on hard sheet in like 10 minutes it was
like the efficiency of the entire thing is how it operates it's like this guy's fully invested in
everything he's still doing he's the one that brings the juice to the set every single time
and whenever he walks in you literally just kind of like holy shit you know and he's okay hey you
know and he's always smoking it is the aura that's one-on-one that's why it came out like uh
pat mcafee's gonna try to be the next sylvester sloan it's like there will never be another
sylvester sloan i know that i'm not the person that said that whoever said that i think he's
trying to maybe draw comparisons of like build it yourself own it yourself blah blah blah that
whole thing but it's like there will never be another sylvester sloan biggest action hero in
the history and uh very rarely gets his flowers i'm happy it's gonna happen right now ty yeah
he's the man and yeah like you said that there are no action stars anymore to the level that
he was in the 90s he's the biggest star in the world arguably yeah and his pen

football is the greatest not too shabby that's our coach joining us every single thursday his
picks haven't necessarily been the greatest but his brain is impeccable 37 years as a football coach
18 in college 19 in the nfl our coach coach mcgaughan good to see you charlie regardless
i've got a chance to chit chat with um you know sylvester stallone that last hour i know he's a
legendary italian has he won the super duper italian of the year award that you got a couple
years back right
ten times over he's not on that list something's wrong okay well i think maybe we should start
pioneering for him to or lobbying for him to uh potentially win the super duper italian of the
year because i didn't see it in his list of accolades toxic table at boston connor at ty
schmidt did you see it con me i didn't see it and it should be called the stallone award i don't if
he what is it called then it's a fake award it's a super duper italian that's one half of the hammer
god cowboys ap tone i think it's called the super duper italian of the year i'm pretty sure it's
not called that he knows what the chuck it's called well i don't know i'm i'm trying to look
it up chuck what's it called pull the i got a damn sheet up again pull it okay so you don't
know what the name is it's a national italian of the year duper no i didn't hear a super
over the year okay so it's a national italian paizano the year chuck pagano has won it many
other uh legendary italians have won it we have lobbied for many italians in the past
we are happy you got a chance to enjoy that up there on
lake geneva yeah up there we can't wait maybe we get the broadcast from up at the garazzi festival
i'm not
sure but we need sylvester stallone to win one of those and him writing right now for 12 hours
yesterday that's for what he's shooting right now that's what he did for rocky so when he was
filming rocky he would shoot rocky all day boom boom boom go take a nap or eat some food wake up
right the next day shoot it again got it done under budget and under time and then it would go
on to be one of the greatest of all time you're talking about a super duper italian right there
maybe he should get introduced at grazie festival sometime joining us now is a man who will never
win the italian of the year award well i don't think so but he is a college football national
champion super bowl champion and a rider cup winner ladies and gentlemen paisano aj
yeah i'm sure uh no i don't think i have any italian uh unfortunately for for you guys but
yeah sly and jay said all in the first hour what a show man yeah pretty crazy you know i assume um
um
i assume that's supposed to be normal but it is not and never will be uh in our lives or
anybody's very thankful for both their time excited to see jay sud as guest picker this
weekend at notre dame huge weekend huge story coming out of college football aj and uh i'm
telling you devastating news for the miami hurricanes fans in which we have one that is uh
within earshot of me 80 of my life during football season just heartbreaking news out of miami malachi
got a high ankle sprain we'll have uh the tight rope surgery i do believe is normally the surgery
that is performed on these types of injuries he will hope to be back by playoff time but obviously
going to miss the next few weeks certainly miss a massive game against number 11 in the cfp polls
notre dame this weekend gumpy i don't want to be the the you know guy that says hey gump you need
to speak now but this is tough for a team that just got number one in the cfp run it back after
losing in the national championship last year and i don't want to be the the you know guy that says
you have two guys in the top three of the heisman award and one of them now who's one of the greatest
players we've seen in college football look misses extended time down the stretch i'm sorry this
happened at practice i'm sorry this happened to you gumpy college football is weeping because of
this everybody but notre dame college football everybody but notre dame are weeping because of
this gumpy yeah it's an absolute heartbreaker whenever you needed a big play it was him
every time every third down every fourth down he got the ball
he always had the ball in his hands but uh we got some guys that i think will be able to fill his
boots a little bit we got dre jacobs south carolina transfers pretty good barcade who came from duke
with mensa he's very good uh those guys are gonna have to step up upshaw as well can play in the
slot so he'll probably fill in there and lofton right there doing that jump he's gonna get the
ball a lot more so we got to just kind of weather the storm here until we can hopefully get him back
notre dame was five and a half point favorites yesterday it's moved to seven and a half point
favorites now after the malachi tony announcement college football so unpredictable i mean aj you
guys lose your starting quarterback in a game in which you win over indiana then you get absolutely
slaughtered by usc not saying it's because of the quarterback but everything can change so quickly
i think we're experiencing that on a wednesday at practice down in coral gables yeah we are and we
know we hear about the whole all the nil stuff and all the talent being spread spread around that
teams aren't able to be as deep because you're right if you're a four or five star guy sitting
in a you know the two or three deep you're going to transfer somewhere but let's let's
see how deep these teams are but the thing is like malachi tony is one of one special talent
we saw him as a true freshman uh in person last year and he's just what he can do like you can't
teach you can't coach but yeah you can try to you know use the rest of your talent they still have
tons of talent in that team but yeah just a heartbreaker for this team and for malachi spreading
your ankle in practice means you're going 110 practice to everything this guy does is good he
blocks downfield he is everything you want in a wide receiver everything you want in a guy that
actually win a heisman and obviously miami's going to have to miss him mario crystal ball
next man up mentality hopefully he has the guys ready for a huge one in south bend notre dame has
to win this game to remain in the cfb now joining us now is a man who might have some thoughts on
this he's a damn good dog oh i believe he's the biggest writer espn has for sure so that would
mean largest one of the largest journalists is that is that oh yeah he won the largest
journalist award i think journalist of the year award and then he lost a lot of weight
is that right yeah joining us now we don't know if that's true ladies and gentlemen
march law back
but i thought you said you were finally pronounced my name right the next time i was on i thought i
did it right there did i not schlott back i said pete then we'll have to tell you the correct
pronunciation schley ball nah schley ball like play ball but it can yeah i remember i told you
the the greatest pronunciation ever
was down at the beach with my buddies remember what i told you no what'd you say
sugar bitch party of seven yeah we see we don't do that i got a delulio the other day yeah there's
a couple names i will say i said schlaw back and i thought that was what you told me down at that
game and said completely wrong it's play ball mark play ball okay got it okay so we're doing
baseball back there let's do college football a little bit mr schley ball um everybody's pissed
about the ranking
for the college football playoff about a couple different things obviously why is ucla that low
indiana they haven't looked like their world beaters barely beat michigan barely beat minnesota
now they're the reigning national champions have only lost one game in like 26 or something like
that but people upset about how they've looked maybe in a couple of the wins that they've had
instead there's also a lot of sec question marks happening some other stuff what's your big
takeaway schley ball from the first cfp and what do you think happens this weekend with all the
games that have impact on all these numbers at the top of the ranking yeah when i saw the rankings
tuesday night the big ones that jumped out to me were indiana at number four haven't beaten a ranked
team you know another soft non-conference schedule obviously the the defending national champions but
uh struggled to beat michigan in overtime you know had needed a 60-yard field goal to get to
overtime against minnesota great kick you know if you're perfect i think that makes up for the um
non-soft non-conference schedule but them at number four bama at number five and texas at number
seven you know i know kurt signetti and kurt ferentz and other people have taken exception
with the espn's close connections to the sec and and everything else i don't think there's a you
know an inherent bias with the selection committee i just think they kind of feel like sec losses or
frequent flyer miles if you had enough of them you might get to go somewhere in december
uh you feel good about that you feel good about that
how many times have you used that they uh you know they just it seems like they just you know
want to give the tide and the longhorns a participation trophy and a first round buy but um
i think up to this point it's about who you've played and who you've beaten more so even who
you've played to see two lost bam up there two lost texas up there two loss old miss up there
10 sec teams in the top 25 i think five in the top 12
um that's a lot but you know i i get where signetti's coming from and i get where kurt
ferentz and others are coming from but look the big 10 talked a lot during the summer about being
the preeminent conference in college football and unseating the sec and we really haven't seen it
why we got three different national champs from the north pal
signetti i believe i'd have to go back and check my notes aj but there was a lot of talk and
straight national championships so you can talk but then you gotta you know you gotta continue it
yeah the game start well we'll see how this playoff run goes but i would say that there's
a lot of disappointment in some of the teams at the top of the big 10 and how they're representing
big 10 football and what we were expecting out of their massive rosters and a lot of success i think
oregon is at the top of the list of what everybody thought would be versus what they actually are
and it's crazy to think but if you you hire two bad coordinators or coordinators that aren't
really best for your team you can go from penthouse to outhouse really quick and i think dan
landing's experiencing that in oregon and i think what a lot of people in the sec would say is yeah
exactly now that the big 10 is a little bit deeper and a little bit better northwestern's good ucla's
good minnesota's even a better team than they had been in the past you're gonna fall into some of
these losses like the sec has been having for the long time is basically what the south has been
saying right am i not i don't want to speak for you guys because i don't have the proper draw
or maybe the proper perspective
but i do think you guys have been pounding the drum about how deep you are for a long time
big 10 feels as if they finally have some real depth because of nil and now they're all beating
the hell out of each other which kind of goes back to what you guys say about the sec every
year is that an accurate depiction of how you guys are kind of whining a little bit about what's going
on here no i mean it's why they didn't want to go to nine conference games kirby smart after he beat
florida last week said he can't practice the way he did back in 21 and 22 when they won national
and he talked to other coaches about it you know it's it's like do you want to do you want to practice
hard every week and or do you want to save guys for games and and i think people across the country have
they've had to pull back on her how on how hard they've had to to practice i don't know that the
bloody tuesdays are as bloody as they used to be in athens georgia okay speaking of georgia georgia
sitting at number two in the opening ranking for cfp six teams in the last 12 years have gone on
to win from the number two hole feels like that's the actual spot that you want to be at uh in these
rankings. Anybody outside number four winning only happened once. That was the
first year with Ohio State. So seemingly the CFP committee, Malachi Tony injury, certainly throws
quite a wrench into the entirety, but they normally have the top four teams right. Schlebaugh, do you
kind of view it that way this year or do you think this year has more parity and unpredictability
than maybe years past? I don't think there's any question there's more parity. I think there are
only three unbeatens left out of the power fours. I think when I looked on Tuesday night when I did
the playoff ranking story, I think there were only nine teams in power four with one loss.
So I don't think there's any question. I mean, look, Georgia's sitting there at number two.
Georgia's got the worst loss of any team in the top 12, the loss to Auburn. That's a bad Auburn
football team, but they played well enough that day and Georgia turned it over three times.
I thought BYU, when they knocked off Notre Dame, I had BYU at like number six in my way too early
around the clock. I had BYU at like number six in my way too early around the clock. I had BYU at
number six in my way too early around the clock. I had BYU at like number six in my way too early
and people thought I was crazy. And I think BYU is really good, but then they go to, they beat
Notre Dame and then they go lose to UCF in Orlando. So it's a lot more parity. I agree with what you
said at the top before I came on, you know, you don't have as much depth. I mean that 21-22 Georgia
team at Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter on the second string defensive line. Those days are
never happening again. I mean, you look at Ohio State, Ohio State, AJ,
great football team until saying goes down.
Yeah. AJ has the last question for you about all that with the Ohio State and injuries happening.
Yeah. What do you think happens in Mr. Schleyball when like, when all was said and done,
obviously Ohio State, no, they got a win out to get in with two losses. Is there a chance
a team like that with three losses gets in and how do you think everything plays out?
Yeah, I think, I think there could be two, at least two teams with three losses that get in.
I mean, if it's an SEC team, you definitely know they're getting in Pat, but, um,
we don't, we don't promote that. We don't believe that we don't believe, um, I mean that lost last
week. I thought fade played. Okay. And the defense didn't show up. I mean, given up 30 points and this
is a defense. He has the most, what they'd given up in their last 31 games when in Indiana, which
is obviously going to hold up. They got to win at Iowa, which is really difficult. It's going to
hold up a one point loss at Texas. Obviously the committee loves Texas, um, play Oregon at home,
Northwestern much improved at Nebraska tough. And then the game at the end of the year, I,
Ohio state wins out there. They're in, I think, you know, they lose, lose one more. I think they'll
have an argument. Um, you know, if the quarterback keeps playing well and gets better, uh, I think
they'd, they'd have a better argument. I think, you know, you can write off last week is not
having the quarterback, but I think there were more question marks than, than just the guy on
their center. Agreed. You're saying Jeremiah Smith get a catch right there. There's been
numerous things like that, that Fahey was able to do. He is a rookie. He is going to learn. He is
seemingly hold injuries against you. Uh, and I, I, I mean, it popped up here while we're chatting
like Miami losing Malachi, Tony, they lose the Notre Dame, lose a couple other games. I think
this committee will, Oh yeah, they will punish them. I think they will punish them for an injury
to a very, very impactful player. And that we still have all that in front of us with a lot
of big games. We hope no more injuries, but getting it right. And who's available. Who's not available.
Who's hurt. Who's not hurt. It'll never be good. That's why the 2014 playoff. Oh, looking nice.
Huh? We can sit here and complain about whether or not five loss Auburn should get in. All right.
That's a lot better than what it's going to be whenever inevitably some three loss or maybe even
a four loss team after the conference championship game, which is going gone, gets into the tournament.
And then there's some team that has like one loss or two losses in a different conference and they're
getting overlooked. Then maybe they're going to get in. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
Maybe the sentiment towards 24 teams will change, but until then, radical change doesn't matter who
is going to be, especially with the stats that the top four teams are probably going to end up
winning it anyways. So if you make this a 32 team to a field or a 64. No, it goes top eight and top
16. You know, you kind of just have to multiply it and all those teams will have an opportunity
to win a national. No, what we're saying is the stats say we pretty much already know who's
probably going to go. All this other stuff is just kind of.
I think it's different this year. Yeah, I think so, too. I genuinely believe. But until we see it.
Right. Yeah. Like if the number two, if Georgia wins at all, it's going to be like, OK, for the
11th straight year, teams that started in the top four ranking have won the national championship.
Do we always know who it's going to be before we even get into it? And we're just hoping other
teams are going to get hot because Miami snuck in last year, almost got the job done. So maybe
there will be a Cinderella story in football, just like there is in basketball. Now, speaking of
Cinderella stories.
We saw we went to ESPN dot com and we read Connor has a question for you, Schleybaugh.
Yeah, Schleybaugh. I'm not calling you Schleybaugh. I'm calling you Schleybaugh. But Schleybaugh,
I read your article about the live golf. You seemed bummed that there's a chance it might be
coming to an end. What is the latest when it comes to live in the PGA Tour? And where do you see
everything kind of going from here? Yeah, I mean, not to dance on anyone's grave, but, you know,
they could not.
Come to an agreement with B.C. Partners Credit, a U.K. based financier that pledged three hundred
million dollars to kind of take over for for Saudi Arabia's public investment fund, which pulled out
in April. So they're going to file a new bankruptcy plan on Monday and go towards liquidation. What
they have, it's actually worth anything. I'm not exactly sure yet. But there's a couple of golf
bags. They got goat. Yeah. Yeah. Right. Go. So we're saying it's over the B.C. Partners in London.
The financiers were going to be the ones that were going to front the money that they owed to the
golfers. Right. That's what it was. It was going to be three hundred million or something like that.
How was that going to work out? The three hundred million was, you know, that was the primary
financing. It's for live 2.0. And they were going to have 10 tournaments, maybe five in the U.S.,
five overseas, 10 million dollar purses. You know, they couldn't make six billion go around.
So I'm not sure how they're going to make three hundred million go to everybody that wants it.
But yeah, it's it's over.
After five years, six billion dollars. It's over. It started with a shotgun start and it ended with a Nerf gun shot.
So here we are. Oh, nice. You felt so good about that. I know. Look at the bright. Yeah, that one was the best.
What were you calling it a couple of months ago? Barely live, barely living.
Now it's no longer living, unfortunately. Look, it's going to be really interesting to see what happens.
I think it's going to be the twenty twenty seven season might go down as the greatest season in DP World Tour history.
Yeah, because you're going to have.
John Rom, you guys are waking up at six a.m. to watch John Rom and Tyrell Hatton and Sergio Garcia, my guy and Ian Poulter, all those dudes going back.
You know, I think it's August 24th of next year would be the first time any of those live guys could come back to the PGA Tour.
If we go off what Patrick Reed and some other guys that have had to do a one year suspension from their last live tournament.
Bryson DeChambeau, I'm not sure, guys. Again, I told you before, I think he's in.
A different pod, as the selection committee likes to say, the fact that he sued and remained a plaintiff against the PGA Tour and has said some negative things.
I think his punishment might be a little more severe.
OK, so we think live guys coming back to the PGA after a year with the DP Tour.
And we think Bryson DeChambeau probably not coming back to PGA if we had to project within a year, within a year.
And look, he's one of the biggest personalities in golf.
He's a villain to some, you know, a two time U.S. Open champion.
You'll see him at the majors. I just don't know where you're going to see him the rest of the year.
I just I have a pretty strong suspicion it's not going to be on the PGA Tour.
And look, Brooks Koepka came back in that under that returning member program back in January, paid a five million dollar fine, gave up equity in PGA Tour Enterprises.
That was a one shot deal. DeChambeau was eligible.
Ron was eligible. Cam Smith was eligible. None of them took it and stayed with live golf.
Brian Roloff, the PGA Tour CEO, has said numerous times that that was a one time deal.
And as of right now, we're not bringing it back.
There are consequences to your actions.
There was very loud conversations whenever live started about how bad PGA is.
Now, I do believe PGA players have benefited from live being added in with purses and elevated events and better treatment and scheduling and everything like that.
I think live did point out a lot of things that we did not know, but just the thought that we didn't know they were looking to try.
To make it a positive business.
It seemed like they were just kind of like creating something to create something.
Turns out, if you don't earn a dollar in your product to shit, the people that are seemingly a bottomless pit of money are going to inevitably turn that off at some point.
If something very serious happens that they need to turn their attention to, it feels like that's what happened here.
We will all learn this lesson as we go forward.
And we can't wait to see all the best golfers back playing against each other.
Not so far from now.
You're the best.
Thank you, Schleybaugh.
Thanks, guys.
This is my buddy, Randall Shambly.
He just said on Golf TV, on Golf Channel, live thought they were beachfront property in Malibu.
They found out their rental share was in Toledo.
That's Mark Schleybaugh.
Schleybaugh.
Toledo, Ohio.
Which is a great place to have a rental share.
Especially because the Rockets are really on the up and to the right train.
Yes, they are.
The Toledo Rockets are really bringing them in.
So, live's done.
Yeah.
Who could have seen that coming?
Good run.
When that guy came out with those.
Shoes on.
You remember?
Whenever the Saudi Arabian fund said, we are no longer just going to be your.
Oh, they're like.
bottomless piggy bank, and then they hired
a new CEO or a new president,
and he came out sitting on really cool chairs,
and I forget what his shoes were, like maybe
Louis Vuitton shoes or something, and he said,
we're going to keep this going, we're going to be able to find it.
We just didn't fully understand where he was coming
from, but he had a lot of confidence, literally from
his shoes to his brain, and
inevitably it ended up not being
a piece of content that they wanted. So if it was going to be
Live 2.0 with a different backer, they were just
pitching a concept and trying to
prove that it was going to be different than the original.
That was probably never going to work, but
happy they made changes to golf to make the golfers'
lives better and our golf fandom better.
Them getting back under one
umbrella will be good for all of us.
Shout out to them. And if there's a season to miss,
it would kind of be next year because
the FedEx match
play at the end of the season tournament
that they're starting in 2028
would probably be the best time to be back for
those main golfers to be in it.
Here's Live Golf's official press release
on shutting down. Throughout the wind-down
process, the company will remain open
to and continue to. And continue to consider any value-maximizing
alternatives with third parties
that may arise. Hey, if you got a
shit ton of money, we still got ideas.
We're not dead yet. We still got ideas
over here. Super Geniuses
everywhere. We do appreciate the efforts
and I like that athletes got flooded with
a bunch of money, but as a group
of people that covered this in real time,
it felt like there was real heat between
the players that stayed and didn't take the
hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars
and the players that did. And
I think the PGA. Brian Rollup, who was with the NFL at the time,
wasn't even with the PGA at the time.
He has a fine line he's going to have to walk
to not piss off his constituents that didn't
take $400 million, life-changing money, to go golf
for $500 or $700 million, whatever it was,
whatever Rory was being offered at the time,
to stay with the PGA for the good of golf.
We're doing this for the past. We're doing this
for the future. We're doing this for the PGA.
There was a lot of those guys. Rory was the face
of it. Turned down a lot of money. Those guys all took
that massive paycheck. And they're like, "Yeah,
well, we're going to beat you." And it's like,
that got really contentious. Really, really contentious.
So now that Liv has failed mightily, those guys have
still got a majority of the money. These guys never
got any of the Liv money. And now they have to come
back. Good luck to Rollup balancing all that, AJ.
- Yeah, it should be fun to try to, yeah.
'Cause, and they're always around each other, too.
Like, they're so, they share the locker room every
single week, every tournament. They eat, like,
similar spots. Like, it's going to be, it'll be fun.
Hopefully, it'll create some robberies that Netflix
is still filming their behind the scenes stuff, aren't they?
- Yeah, I mean, whenever Vince bought WCW, you know,
everybody had to kind of put their swords aside,
come together. But the swords still kind of being in the
backs of a lot of people almost generated the best type
of stuff. Sounds like Bryson DeChambeau probably not
going to be back with the PGA. Did you hear that?
- Yeah, it sounds like that might be a done deal.
- That's what Schleybaugh basically, I don't know.
Everybody else, I think there's a path.
DeChambeau, he kept his name on the lawsuit.
He was very open. He's still a plaintiff.
A lot of things he said pissed a lot of people off.
Once again, Rollup wasn't there whenever this happened.
He's now the head of PGA. How do they avoid it?
We saw. Let's move on to the NFL tonight.
Week nine is kicking off. You go ahead.
- Well, DeChambeau is also the one on CNN where the, you know,
he took a brunt of it, too, on the other side.
Remember the anchor asked DeChambeau while he was being
interviewed about, you know, the families affected by 9/11?
Like, he was the face of that side and he was definitely kind
of made out as the villain of all those guys, him and Phil.
- Yeah, him and Phil. And then Rory was captain of PGA.
- Biggo, yeah.
- So it was, and that was when DeChambeau was hitting the ball
400 yards. He was the greatest show in golf at that point.
- 12 protein shakes a day.
- Man. How will it be-
- Blew up.
- Yeah, he got you super jacked.
Super handsome, you know? Nerdy guy, super handsome.
All of a sudden he became a desirable figure in golf.
And it makes you think, we were excited for the athletes
to get offered that amount of money.
- For sure.
- Like, very happy for athletes.
Getting offered that amount of money to do a sport,
something they've worked their entire life for.
But what could have been, you know,
with all those guys playing against each other?
We'll see it again a year from now, from my understanding.
- Or we won't.
- What? It sounds like we might.
- Might take a couple.
- All right, let's get back to the NFL,
'cause you got a big one tonight.
Week nine's kicking off in Baltimore.
Joey Fagnano leads the Baltimore Ravens
against Trevor Lawrence in the Jacksonville Jaguars.
On the call this evening is a man
who's the face of College Game Day,
the face of college football primetime
on ESPN and ABC.
Friend of the program, absolute legend,
ladies and gentlemen, Kirk Herbstreit.
- Yay!
- Hey, Herbie!
- How we doing?
What's going on, boys?
- Well, I'll tell you, we didn't expect to do
the live is dead conversation,
but Schleybaugh wrote an absolute masterpiece
and got to the bottom of it
after we chit-chatted about the college football playoff,
which I can't wait to hear your thoughts.
Let's get into it.
Herbie, you were in that room.
You were the one that put the CFP rankings out.
You are the face of SEC/SPN.
We know that even though they have a list of people
on that committee, we know that they have a list
of people on that committee,
and your name's not on that list.
And we didn't see you put a hat down, okay,
on the hat rack and walk in there.
We know, exactly, you probably told them
that's what they should do.
We know that you have a phone call,
a direct line into that room to tell them
if you like it or you don't like it, what they're doing.
Is that true or false?
- What the hell are you talking about?
- I'm just kidding.
I'm just kidding.
- Okay, okay.
- Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
There's gonna be some sheep out there
that think you're serious.
- Okay, okay, you're right, you're right.
I am lying, I am joking.
Herbstreet has as much say as we do, but he is-
- As Peter the dog, as much as Peter has to say.
- Peter might have a little bit more say.
If he's picking your team-
- He'd probably do it better.
- You need to go the opposite way.
Your team's in a bad place.
- How about the run he's on?
0 for 9, that's hard.
- Yeah, he's, I think Pete's just trying to play-
- He's making a mockery.
- A mockery of it.
- Yeah, I think so.
I think Pete's saying- - He is.
- He's saying, listen, Hertz, I love your golden rental,
and I'm a big fan of it all, but I'm not your clown.
I think Peter's a big, I'm not your clown guy,
which is why we love him.
- I think he's rebelling against the picks, for sure.
He's got a hell of a run, though.
That's hard to go 0 for 9.
Reese is doing a pretty good job of it on the Superdogs.
- One point, one point.
I didn't even know that was possible
in the Superdogs thing, but you're right.
Peter is off to an incredible start.
If you were to fade him from the beginning,
which I think he tried to tell us
when he was barking, we just couldn't understand
what he was saying, classic, classic Peter miscommunication.
But whenever people see the college football
playoff rankings, everybody, for every,
even the Big Ten coaches are like,
well, ESPN obviously has say in this.
ESPN has say in this.
We know who's in the room, and we heard
from Hunter Juracek with his conversation with Reese,
the football guys had some say in the final rankings,
'cause how close everybody was.
What were your first reactions whenever you saw
the rankings, and what are your thoughts on this group
of people trying to piece together who the right 12 people
or teams are that should be in the tournament?
- It's an impossible task.
Every year, whoever's in that room just gets destroyed.
I don't know why you'd ever sign up to be on this list.
No matter what their rankings are, they're wrong.
It's one of those things that you're gonna piss
everybody off, no matter what you come up with.
And honestly, man, I've been getting ready
for this Thursday game.
Joey and I did a quick reaction thing Tuesday night.
I mean, you could go, you could dissect it.
If you wanna look at Indiana at four,
I've heard people that are up in arms about Indiana.
How are they at four?
Like, I don't care.
I really don't care.
It's the first rankings.
There's teams that are gonna lose games.
I'm not in the mood to argue about it.
I don't wanna get yelled at.
I'm just, I'm listening to what the committee's doing.
They're doing the best job they can.
Alabama's overrated.
Oh shit, what are they doing up there at five?
So I just don't really get caught up in it.
I let it, I let another four weeks go by
and then I'll go ahead and get involved in it.
Right now, I'm worried about Finiano
and hoping he can get some first downs tonight.
We won a hell of a game tonight, you know?
Yeah, okay, I like the fact that you don't wanna say
anybody's overrated or underrated
'cause you know, in a couple weeks it might come back
to get us, 'cause we have no idea
what's gonna happen on the field.
It's so early.
Where was Miami last year at this time?
What were they?
18.
18.
I made a case that,
'cause there's gonna be three lost teams
that are probably gonna be stacked up there
in early December, right?
Who knows if there's gonna be one, two, three.
Who knows how many might get in?
If you look down there in the '20s,
you know, I was looking at Oregon.
Everybody gave up on Oregon, said their season's over,
they're terrible, let's get rid of, fire everybody.
They just got a big win last week
and it's almost like,
I'm not saying they're gonna go to Columbus and win,
but if they did, even with three losses,
they would set themselves up to have a shot,
if they win in Columbus, they'd have a real shot to win out
and they'd be sitting there at nine and three.
I think you have to look at teams like that.
Like, who could come on late
if they have a big win this weekend?
And I think Oregon falls into that category.
I think South Carolina has positioned themselves.
There was another coach, fire his ass, he's terrible,
he doesn't know what he's doing.
And then all of a sudden they beat Tennessee,
they've won three in a row,
and all of a sudden they've got a little bit
of something going on with Lenore Sellers
playing like he did in 2024.
So I think it's exciting to see who,
who is still alive.
Instead of going up there in the top 10 or 12 teams,
I'm looking down there at some of these other teams that possibly, you know,
I know people are upset about Wake Forest.
You know, what's the difference between Wake Forest and whoever else,
Notre Dame or whatever people are saying?
And I'm just going to be, this is my opinion on this stuff,
and I think we're all guilty of this.
I remember when Boise State, years ago, Pat,
you might have been still playing at West Virginia.
This is a long time ago.
Nobody really knew much about Chris Peterson and Boise State.
And then they kind of stacked about three years in a row of upsetting teams
like Oklahoma and the Fiesta Bowl with the Statue of Liberty play,
and they went over to FedEx Field in a preseason game or a non-conference game
and beat a really good Virginia Tech team with Kellen Moore.
But it took, like, beat Georgia in the Georgia Dome,
you know, a highly ranked Georgia team, traveled there and beat them.
And after about three or four years, I think the masses started to go,
they're no longer a cute story.
Like,
they're in the cool guy club now.
Like, people are accepting them as being a brand that's real.
But I feel like it takes some time to build that.
I'm not saying that's fair.
I'm just saying that that's what I've witnessed with people,
is it, like, a Wake Forest coming out of nowhere.
You know, I think it's hard for people to give them the benefit of the doubt
because it's new.
Yeah.
And I think if the people inside that room are being honest,
I'm guessing that's part of the reason they're still down at 16.
They can say all they want about the schedule and strength of record.
And I think it's the fact that the teams ahead of them have a stronger reputation.
And again, I'm not saying it should matter.
I'm just saying I think it does.
I understand what you're saying.
And it might be why UCLA is at eight, the lowest ranked undefeated team,
because we haven't seen it out of them in a while.
Indiana just had to go through this, I think, the last couple of years.
Even after winning a national championship, I think people are still saying,
we don't believe that they're real.
And then let's pivot that, actually, to tonight.
I think a lot of people are finding themselves in a position of,
I can't believe the Jaguars are the Jaguars.
This Jacksonville Jaguars team is unbelievable.
Chuck, what is their record over the last 20?
18-2.
18-2 over the last 20 games.
Okay.
Last 17 games, Trevor Lawrence has, what, 44 touchdowns, 11 interceptions.
Yep.
Okay.
They just demoralized the Indianapolis Colts down in Duval.
Their defense doesn't give up rushing yards.
They don't give up rushing touchdowns.
And Trevor Lawrence is playing better than ever.
But I think everybody outside of Duval, and maybe the AFC South,
I think the AFC South probably has a little bit more respect for Jacksonville
than everybody else.
But I think from a national audience perspective,
we're going to have to see it to believe it.
That's how people really feel,
which is why I think tonight might be pretty important, Kirk.
How do you view this year's Jacksonville Jaguars team?
And do you think enough people are talking about them,
and maybe that changes tonight?
Great comparison and looking at Jacksonville, because you're right.
I do think, and just prepping and getting ready for this week,
by the way, I liked the uni there last week against the Colts.
I was a fan of that.
That was strong.
Yeah, okay.
Thanks.
I'm with you on all of this.
I think Liam Cohen has brought a kind of a chip on his shoulder type of approach
to who he is as a head coach.
I think the team is taking on that personality.
They've got a really good defensive scheme
where they are determined to stop the run.
They were number one in the NFL last year in defending the run.
They're number one again this year in defending the run.
Now, Devon Hamilton going down with a quad for the season is devastating
because that has a lot to do with why they're so good in the interior against the run.
So it'll be interesting to see against big Derrick Henry tonight how that goes.
But this is a team that, you know, there's a lot of great teams in the AFC.
I mean, we know that I still feel like with a healthy Pat Mahomes,
it still goes through Kansas City.
Buffalo, there's, I mean, you go around that AFC,
there's so many good teams that are going to be,
if they stay healthy, are going to be in the mix
when we get into December and January.
And I don't think Jacksonville has been maybe taken that seriously.
And I think with the way they're playing offensively right now,
Trevor Lawrence, you just hit the stats.
You know, it was interesting.
I talked with them this week and they said we changed his footwork.
Like he would have left foot forward.
These are small little details, but for a quarterback,
that's a big deal.
Your whole life, you've had your left foot forward in the gun.
And now they changed that around.
Different terminology.
This is going back to last year.
Coming off the shoulder injury.
And he had to almost recalibrate his entire way of playing a position
because he finally learned for the first time in his career,
going back to Clemson and going back to the first few years of his NFL career,
the first time that he was asked that every step that you take in your drop
is about the timing.
And the depth of your receivers routes.
And last year, about middle of the year, it seemed like the light went off.
He started to kind of get it.
And then this off season, he kept drilling that footwork,
drilling that footwork to now he has commanded the line of scrimmage.
They give him, you know, he's canning it.
He's getting out of the bad play into the good runs,
complete autonomy at the line of scrimmage, which is again, new for him.
And so I think that freedom and playing faster has,
that's him making better decisions.
He's not turning the ball over.
That was always a big problem for him in his NFL career.
They got good, good backs.
You know, they're running.
They don't have a lot of depth at receivers.
So you'll see a lot of 12, 13 personnel tonight with their tight end room that they have.
But it's a, it is a fun team to play.
And, you know, and, you know, from being in locker rooms,
you and AJ and all the guys, I mean, it's when you have guys that really like to practice,
they really like to play.
They really like to be coached and they really like to hang out together.
That's a dangerous thing that you're going to be going up against.
So there's a lot of, there's a lot there to like about this team.
And you got Jackson that, or you got Baltimore, you know, at home tonight.
And as you guys, I'm sure have talked about with this rookie undrafted free agent,
you know, a quarterback, um, imagine this guy, he doesn't, he didn't get a, you know,
guys don't get drafted and they, they get a free agent opportunity.
This guy got invited along with Diego Pavia.
And I think that's a really good thing.
I think that's a really good thing.
Just to kind of evaluate him and see how, what he was about not getting hardly any reps.
Skylar Thompson, who was the three goes down and camp, he starts to get a few more reps.
And then truly wasn't probably going to make the team.
They're probably only going to keep two quarterbacks up,
but he played so well in the preseason that they started to kind of scratch their head.
Like, damn, this guy, this guy gets it, you know, and he's, he's getting the ball out.
So.
Yeah.
He earned his way to become, to get an opportunity to be that third guy.
And, and now with injuries to Snoop and to Lamar, he's there.
He's going to start and go up against this, this nasty defense of the Jaguars.
You talk about that workout that he had with Diego Pavia, the rookie minicamp.
They're there sometimes just to be throwers.
Like, Hey, we need to work out wide receivers here.
We need to work out corners here.
We just need ball throwers.
You know, that's what we need.
And Diego, I think, and Joey Finiano inevitably make team.
Diego gets like,
you know, Joey Finiano continues to do his thing.
Chuck, what are his stats from college?
What did he do at UConn last year?
3,500 passing yards, 70% completion rate, 28 touchdowns, one interception.
Is that good?
Yeah.
Is that good?
I mean, that was at UConn and UConn.
28 and one.
3,500 yards.
Yeah.
And, and got UConn to a nine and three record.
Yes, he did.
Finiano.
Yeah.
I mean, the guy can play six, three.
He's a big guy.
Got a bum wheel though, it looks like.
And they just found out, you know,
he just found out they're trading for Jacoby Percet,
which they're going to have to add depth of quarterback anyways.
But there is a coach in there, you know, who has his,
it's his first time being a head coach.
Interesting predicament for him.
Go ahead, Con Man.
Yeah, Herbie.
Jesse Minter, seemingly kind of the next upstart young gun
when it comes to these head coaches.
He's a defensive genius.
A lot of people think,
what was your kind of impression from meeting with him this week?
And do you believe we're going to see him as the,
as Baltimore Ravens head coach for a long, long time?
Because, you know, they're four and four,
but they've dealt with a lot of stuff early on
and they're still afloat right now.
You know what, Con, I've been impressed with his temperament.
I mean, they're four and one to start the year.
All kinds of injuries.
They have more offensive line combinations than anybody.
They've started six different units up front.
Just been banged up.
They're starting their fourth center.
Of course, you guys know they made the trade for Cam Juergens to come over.
He was their fourth center.
I mean, imagine going through in the first half of the season,
you're on your fourth center
and you had to get him to a trade with Philly to be able to have a center.
It's just been that kind of year up front.
Besides the obvious with Lamar being down for three games,
he comes back, hurts the thumb.
So they have lost three in a row.
When we talked with him,
I was really impressed with no panic,
no like, man, woe is me.
It was more of just, hey, this is an exciting challenge.
You know, we got to figure this thing out.
It's going to be different.
He keeps saying the different formula,
then what we've done in the past.
You know, we got to kind of get back to the Ravens football of the past,
which was going way back,
which was defense and special teams and field position and turnover margin.
You know, I think over these last seven plus years with Lamar,
the defense has still been good,
but not that level of what they build their reputation on.
Because I think end of the day,
not that they're trying not to be a great defense,
but they know that number eight is going to bail them out.
You know, when in doubt, they got number eight and it's all good.
Now they don't, and so they're going
to win with a tenacious defense um you know derrick henry it's going to be declan doyle
the who came over from chicago kind of running a ben johnson system be interesting to see
how they get creative you know how they how what they come up with to try to get derrick henry
going and at the same time you don't want to be too conservative and too one-dimensional
against the team that leads the nfl and rushing defense so early down shots maybe downfield
trying to get zay flowers matched up one-on-one where he can separate and make plays um this kid
can spin it you know you know chuck just read you know his stats from last year but you do not want
to be throwing on third and six and third and eight with a rookie undrafted quarterback you
know just nothing against him it's just you're going to give the jags a chance to get very
creative with a lot of pre to post snap looks and try
to mess with his mind not to mention the offensive line that's been dinged up so how do they how do
they get some some positive uh results i think it's a lot of derrick henry but you can't just
be derrick henry i look for some early down shots to try to hit some explosives if they're really
going to try to make some big plays in this offense and win this game once again the jacks
for jaguars defense number one in the league whenever it goes uh to rush yards giving up
they saw jonathan taylor last week without quentin nelson which is a big deal to less than
like 35 yards or so and he's not the only one they do that to absolutely everybody i think they've
only given up four rushing touchdowns all season so when you talk about stout up front there's
certainly that derrick henry though is a different animal whenever he gets rolling and they're going
to need him tonight let's go to the baltimore ravens defense some offseason interesting
happenings over there go ahead aj kirk yeah trey henderson obviously has brought over from the
bangles to the ravens i guess i think he has a couple sacks throughout this this far out there
in the year but like what do you expect from this ravens defense are they going to have to
become more aggressive try to get some takeaways obviously to help an offense with a young
quarterback basically wearing an air cast on his ankle barely able to walk it seems like
yeah absolutely um first of all going back to the jags real quick they lead the nfl in turnover
margin you know because they're not turning the ball over um and their defense has been very
opportunistic so if you go back to that formula the ravens defense is going to have to create
turnovers are going to have to give their own offense a short field um we're going to have to
get different temperature like a different a different energy from baltimore these guys need
to get back to being the intimidating defense that they've been for for decades you know and
can they be that you know i think i think they've got some some injuries themselves you mentioned
uh you know some of the guys that they've kind of been banged up i think that uh talking to
kyle hamilton this week he's got a he kind of has a look in his eye that he understands what's at
stake and what this defense has to do um you know he's another one of these guys i'm fired up to
watch him because they move him around and do so many different things with him and you know i think
that this is a team that's more than capable of winning games with defense but up to this point
they've not really put 60 minutes of football together on that side of the ball there's been
moments where you're like shit there they are that's the ravens defense but it's it's especially
the second half they've just kind of lost their edge they cannot if they're going to win this
game tonight they got to play 60 minutes got to play the best game that they played and they got
to bring some juice they got to bring some energy
playing at home on a thursday night uh against trevor lawrence and liam cone they they got to
bring the heat tonight to have a shot 10 point dogs at home are the baltimore ravens on prime
time crazy to even say to the jacksville jaguars but i think that's because everybody who is at
the sportsbook world and also the gamblers understand what the jacksville jaguars have
been so they're not going to let you get one for us our boost will be going live in three and a
half minutes okay okay okay how have our boosts been doing
uh come see come saw i believe is how you would call completely par on schedule for
we're not up any or down any trevor lawrence two plus passing touchdowns once again 44
touchdown passing touchdowns in the last 17 games to 11 interceptions
pretty good what if we had parker washington to this no no no it's not
we don't need to we don't need to justice hill
we're thinking finiano maybe they're down gonna have to throw some check down justice hill first
drive check down justice hill check down to justice hill justice hill can get it i like it i like it
thank you i like it the check down can come very late in this game okay so we will always be alive
trevor lawrence throwing two plus touchdowns we're gonna have to get one early okay we're
gonna have to get one early to feel comfortable but we're looking to hit this it's boosted to
plus 200 this is our biggest that we've had in some time let's go ahead and get this thing
tonight herbie let's go and get this what were you gonna say there chuck so they like to pressure
right campanella you gotta imagine they're gonna try to get him in the third long right and get
after this guy herbie so what's what's good versus pressure how about a little scream to justice hill
and that guy can roll he is a great dude a great kid a great teammate and he can roll when he gets
in space this is not a guarantee no none of it is none of this is guaranteed but trevor lawrence has
been throwing touchdowns i mean we just wrote a highlight of trevor this year unbelievable so
i feel really good about where we're at not a guarantee not a luck please only gamble responsibly
don't be an asshole okay you'll ruin it for the rest of us but if you're of age coast to coast
come join us on the best sports book and best prediction markets gumpy's a little bummed out
he hasn't been able to look at the trades on the day for the last couple days because we're in
indiana but we'd love for you to come gamble responsibly with us have a little action on
the game tonight boosted to plus 200 this
is live in a minute and a half i feel good about it i think this could hit and we need
we need one more than you could imagine heading into this weekend herbie do you know um nate
wiggins questionable is he is he a go tonight do we know yet game time decision i think he's a i
think he's a go i think he's a go and basial to basial is he a go he hasn't practiced he's gonna
he's gonna they're actually gonna work him out pre-game and depending on how he does will dictate
whether or not he goes tonight
what a player he is true game time decision there too pretty important to what we have going on here
with our boost and the secondary there the baltimore all right we appreciate you
i appreciate you we'll see you up there in south bend brother i like i like your jersey
yeah i don't know if they're wearing it tonight so they wore it two nights ago but yeah not even
those jerseys could help so we got we get these two shout to the nhl sending us and fanatics
sending this to us um unbelievable well down has the name spelled right and the numbers and
everything so i know yeah i think it's going to be a good game i think it's going to be a good game
i think it's going to be a good game i think it's going to be a good game i think it's going to be a good game
it's really good work we appreciate that rare but connor got one and i got one and the pens are
playing the bruins so we both naturally gotta do it we're doing this tonight and it wasn't until
about two seconds before we go live that we both were like are we wearing these jerseys today like
no absolutely not it's like great so uh these are available i think they're super nice super
comfy really good sizing this one i can even strap in you know like a diaper if i wanted to go play
nice yeah this thing's legit here i can get it in there
but the boys are you gotta pull your blue jackets they they they came out with another jersey they
don't have a hometown remix in columbus yeah right they're not doing that for the blue are you serious
herbie that's not real check the standings we're already we're already in the standings they
stumbled into a victory over the abs the other night scored like seven goals we got our whole
week's worth of goals out in one game over the colorado avalanche that's good hockey clubs and
they got pretty sweet hometown remixes it's like a cannon the columbus blue jackets
but it's gray it is great for no reason it's gray you're telling me they're treating the
blue jackets like a real nhl team they got an olympical ball club yep puck club aj you need
to represent kid i know i need i need to get one i'll go buy one and show me the site
cbj if they're listening they'll maybe send you one over there so you can wear it we bought these
from i bought this from the penguins yeah i bought money for the players look at that look at it here
we go
texas hockey's coming to town i like that don't worry about it herbie hold on i i don't mind just
a plain ass cannon right yeah the cannon's cool but you can't be the blue jacket around we just
got the cannon out there and wear gray columbus gray jackets i mean they're better than the pens
ones to be honest well it does have a hint of blue in there but i don't like that the penguins are
doing this shit okay i guess yeah why are you just adding a weird color blue in there i don't
what is that about what they wore for the winter classic it's legendary it is legendary i guess
before i knew the pens they had this color at some point but like sky blue yeah but when we did the
draft in pittsburgh it was this too it's like pitt's this color obviously so i i probably don't
necessarily love it but we have black and gold black and yellow is literally pittsburgh i mean
that is our we already do that that's stupid colors yeah that's why i don't love this type of
but i like you know i don't mind i don't look at it hey can the mounties go down to lubbock and
compete yes you know that's why i don't like it i don't mind i don't like it i don't like it i don't
you know that the mountaineers rich rod said are playing for playing for the school they're playing
for a state they're not just playing for a paycheck we got pittsburgh a bunch of different
colors around the bottom of the ass yeah i don't know if you ever see it but when i'm running in
front of you you just see pittsburgh behind you yeah you know kind of doing kind of chargers
colors and that's interesting because your team is basically the chargers of the nhl we've won
we've won games swing missed it bruce missed it completely yeah it was how about connor's uni there
everywhere else the top of the table the wyoming bruins yeah i got bulldogs soaked in poop yeah
shite jersey.
Oh, Wyoming? Oh, that's so
interesting. You would call your own school shite.
You old bag.
I'm glad you're wearing that,
because as much as you ate, if you could
stick a needle in him, he'd land in Lebanon
right now.
Come on.
I'm not going to Lebanon right now.
If he stuck a pin in you right now,
we might not have a
choice, brother.
He's eating like he's
going to an electric chair.
I ain't eating shit like this, brother.
Barbecue Bill
made it to the below table.
Pitched about the donuts and proceeded
to eat five.
Bill made some great dip.
I mean, he was like
a feedback. He killed everything.
Put a feedback on that shit.
All right.
Hey, Herbie, good luck tonight. Remember,
two for Trevor, ten for
Justice Hill. Okay, we want T-Law
and Justice tonight, and we need
a little energy out of you guys if that hits, because we need
this.
If it hits, I'll let everyone
know it hit.
You don't need to actually say it, because there's too much of us out there,
obviously, but you say, there's some lads in a
thunderdome who needed that right there, a little bit
more than anybody.
We appreciate you. Good luck tonight. Is Peter around?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Wag his tail.
Wag his tail.
He has dogs.
How you miss him?
He's a man. He got off the bus, and he saw all those cheerleaders and people, and he said, fuck that.
Cut right back around.
He lives his own life, man. That's Peter's football, baby.
That's why he's picking the opposite of what he thinks
is actually going to win every single time, because he said, I'm not
a clown. I'm not doing that.
Which is why we love Peter. We appreciate the hell out of you, too.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's Kirk Herbstreit.
Yay, Herb!
The people that hate our show,
every week when we bark at Peter,
Yeah, I don't love it.
have to hate it. Just think about people watching at home,
you know, just accidentally left on
after first take,
and then, you know, they're waiting for big day
with big shrinks, and we're in there, and they got
a couple dogs around the house, and they're just
in the kitchen doing something, cleaning up something, and all
of a sudden, we're, hooray!
And they're dogs fighting each other. These dogs at their house
start, hooray! And then they're jumping on
top of each other. That's what we're, we apologize.
We do apologize. But that's
our weekly time to
talk to Peter. That's the only way to talk to Pete.
So. What do you want us to do?
If he understood English, that'd
be cool, but I think we have to
do as the Romans do.
You know, they say. Yeah. Bark at
Pete. Yeah. Now,
I do not sniff his butt. I do know
there are some people that go up to Peter and sniff
butt to say hello. It's Hamill, right?
Humans are doing. Hamill does it, or people do it
to Pete that way? I think Pete deserves that.
This is crazy.
Ha ha ha.
All right. We've got about a minute before. I mean, that would be a. That's a funny visual to think of.
It's a Peter. He's in a nice suit right before
he goes on air. Oh, my
daily tradition, Pete. Farmer's dog
this morning, eh? I would like to
say. I would like to say
that I have never seen that
happen. Okay. I'd like to go on
the record. Have you heard anyone else
that has seen it? Have they told you? Well,
I mean, I've seen a mascot try to, like,
you know, endear. Not Cougar.
And Peter had no chance out there at BYU.
No. But I've seen a couple mascots, which
we know what's going on there. We don't
have to just, you know, kind of kayfabe
this thing. We've seen a couple mascots do
like a, hey, how you doing? And I get really
intrigued by that. I go,
so what do you think?
What the hell are you doing? What's going
on here? Peter's a legend, though.
And I know there's some people that hate Peter out
there. If you met Peter, Peter would
be a dog that the people that hate Peter would
like. I mean, this dog
walks up to things it does not like.
Yeah, right.
No, I'm not doing it. It just goes the other
way. I love Peter, the
dog. I'm a part of the Peter fan club.
I don't have a hat yet, cheapskates.
Yeah. Maybe we need to buy one of those.
Anyways, big day with Big Shrags.
Breakdown on big plays is next. We continue
digitally. Goodbye. Nailed it.
Bang. Nailed it.
What mascot is sniffing
Pete's butt? I'm not going to out any of these
mascots. The butt guy.
It wasn't Big Nut either. Okay.
Okay.
Wow.
What are you wailing?
No, I'm just
running down the list of who it possibly could be. I'm trying to think
where you were so far.
I mean, I've been with Peter for multiple years now.
I mean, I've known Peter since Peter, a little baby
puppy Peter who's
everybody on set is scared to
death. He's going to shit and piss all over everything
the entire time. That was the first year with Peter.
You know, it was
an outlaw. Little puppy
Peter was big.
His paws were gigantic. We knew he was going to be
huge. But at that time, he was big.
He had no idea what his name was. No.
No clue what his name was. He did respond
to Kirk's whistle, though. Like, Kirk's
whistle would get Peter back
around. But with those crowds and those
people, he was just living his best life.
Hey, how you guys doing? Good to see you. Let me get a rub
here. I actually got
a dump, actually. Where's that Home Depot game
day logo?
Peter's part of the family.
I love Peter. I do wish
he would react a little bit more when we bark at him
because it feels like he maybe doesn't want us. He's sleepy.
Yeah, we always get him sleepy.
I've always thought this. Can he even hear us
because Kirk has his AirPods in? Or are we just
barking at Kirk? Kirk doesn't have his AirPods in. Oh, he
doesn't? No, I don't think so. Okay.
He didn't today, but you see, a lot of times he does have his
AirPods in. Last two weeks, he
hasn't. Okay, so he changed it.
I think he stopped wearing them for the barking.
How old's Herbie? Fifty
eight or something like that.
Hearing's good, then.
Yeah, but I think
the TV people,
any TV people have a little bit of hearing something.
What?
Let's get to our break.
Well done.
Very good. Love you, coach.
Very good. Love you, Hawk.
What? I don't know what I did.
What? Are we doing
What the Chuck right now? I got a question.
We got What the Chuck on the other side might be the best one
yet. We've added some gimmicks.
We've added some production value.
We actually couldn't do it on ESPN
this time. Yep. Okay.
That's how you know.
That decision was made.
We don't need people walking.
Through an airport.
See what's coming down.
I don't give it away yet, but yeah, we don't.
You're right. I didn't think about that.
Yeah, we didn't. We didn't.
My God. Very smart.
We didn't need that. Yeah, thank you.
I feel like we're at a different stage of our entire program.
This Chuck, you want to see if this is going to go in
just to win some people here.
We did say Q yesterday.
Yeah, it's colossal warm up.
Do you want to throw one just to see?
Oh, hell yeah.
See, that's a man who accepts a challenge.
Mm hmm.
Like Pablo Cashelis.
Yes, like Pablo Cashelis.
Pablo Cashelis.
Best cellist in the world.
Mm hmm.
He was practicing until he was 92, right?
Ninety three.
Ninety six.
Okay, shit.
Can you imagine?
Great year.
He was so good.
The cello is the big guitar one.
Yep. Yep.
Best in the world.
I seen a guy on the internet play with his feet.
Really? Really?
Yeah.
Cello?
Yeah.
See, why, why?
I got no arms. No arms.
That's why, Charlie.
Yeah.
That's kind of a Picasso situation.
Yep.
You know Picasso?
You ever heard of Picasso?
Yeah.
You know Picasso?
You ever heard of Albert and Albert Durer?
No.
No?
Albert and Albert Durer?
You ever seen the painting Praying Hands?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Sure.
Shout out.
Great story.
Was that a Picasso?
No, it's a frickin' Albert Durer.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Albert and Albrecht?
What group were they?
Nuremberg, Germany.
Okay.
Oh, boy.
Late 1400s.
Can you turn us down a little bit here?
Huge family.
Like 19 kids.
Coal mine town.
Similar to. Yeah, got you.
I'm thinking of Chesney.
Ken?
Ken or Bob?
No, Bob.
Oh, okay.
I guess he worked in a coal mine.
He did.
Saw that this week.
Bobby Chesney?
Mm-hmm.
Wow.
Love this guy.
Yeah, me too.
So these two brothers, Albert and Albrecht Durer,
wanted to go to college.
Wanted to go to art school.
That was their passion.
Dad, there's like 18, 19 siblings, they say.
Coal miner, simple means not going to be able to afford
college for these kids.
So the one brother, Albert, says, "Okay.
Here's what I'm going to do.
I'm going to go down on the mine.
You go off art school, all right?
And I'll go down on the mine, and I'll make the money to fund."
So Albert shows up at art school.
He's better than every teacher there.
Pencil, paint, crafting with his hand, no matter what it was.
Unbelievable.
This guy was just a natural, right?
Phenom.
So he just becomes him.
You got "himmies" in football?
Yeah, he is him.
He is him.
H-I-M.
He becomes him.
So he just does fabulous work.
So meantime, his brother's been down in the--
fucking kidding me?
That wasn't me, Charlie.
I hope not.
This is a story about going down on the frickin'--
I was locked in.
This is a story about going down on the mine for your brother.
Charlie, it wasn't me.
I want to hear the end.
Ty.
We're through, Charlie.
Ty.
So he goes--
Fess up, Ty.
So he comes home.
It was me.
Arrive at the point.
Yeah.
And the father--
Holy shit.
Is this a plane around the world?
Can you land it, lad?
The father-- oh, you know what?
You're not running this show.
I think this man--
Thank God.
Thank God.
Shut your book.
- This is right, Carver.
I went to break 10 minutes ago.
Get out.
Get the fuck out.
You ain't got to sit around.
Charlie cried regardless.
So the dad, he's coming home.
He's the best in the world, right?
So dad said, well, let's throw him a party.
Let's throw him a feast, honor what he's done.
So they do that.
He steps up and he says, you know, to thank everybody, thank his brother.
He says, now what I want to do is a toast to my brother, Albert,
who went down in the mine for me.
I'm going to go down in the mine now, send you to art school.
Wow.
And so what happened was after four years down there,
we saw the praying hands.
His hands were mangled, broken bones, arthritis.
He couldn't be an artist anymore.
This is because of what he did.
Burt or Brickt?
Burt.
What are you talking about here?
This is Albert.
After becoming a prolific artist, he now goes into the mines.
He's going to go down the mines so his brother can go,
but he can't.
He can't go because his hands are mangled.
Brickt.
So in honor of his brother, he did the praying hands,
which we all know is famous for his brother.
Yeah, the emoji.
Like we do on this program, like many teams do,
Saturday, Sunday, Monday, whatever,
they go down in the mine for each other.
That's right.
And that's what we're going to do in this next hour.
Thank you, Coach.
I needed that.
I'm going to cry.
I just don't know.
Let's get to a break.
We're back on the other side.
We got one more shot.
Can we pull up the praying hands?
No, we got it.
We got it.
Let's make this thing longer.
Let's make this longer.
You're right.
Look at the strokes.
Look at the detail, Connor.
Unbelievable.
You can see.
Now, is that Burt or Brick?
You can see them on mangroves.
That was Brick.
That would be Burt drawing Brick's hands, I believe.
Did he have to pose?
Yeah.
It's Albert and Albrecht.
Look it up.
Like the swine DC.
Don't have to now.
I just got their Wikipedia read to me.
That's what Jeff was named after, the DC for the Falcons.
No, it's Albrecht.
And I believe he's playing in Germany this week.
I thought for sure Spain, Madrid, I think.
I think it's Madrid.
It's not Germany.
And it's Albrecht.
This is Albrecht.
I mean, we just got to really dial it in.
Okay.
Burt was the phenom.
Okay.
Okay.
Is that a number two, AJ?
He sacrificed what he had built because his brother had sacrificed for him.
And that's what we can all strive to be like.
Not only for our family, but our friends, our community.
Thank you for reminding.
Nick Morales.
Sounds like a ricochet from the back.
None of this is real, though.
I don't know how to tell you this, coach.
Oh, no.
What did he say?
I don't know where you heard this story from.
Oh, boy.
He never had a brother named Albert.
That's not true.
This is a myth.
Jesus Christ, Charlie.
It's the 1400s.
How do we know?
Fucking, this show is full of clowns.
Yeah, it is.
You're the clown.
You guys will do anything for clicks.
I mean, yeah, I agree.
It's disgusting.
There were 18 kids.
Only three of them survived to adulthood.
Let's move along.
Let's get out of here.
Let's get to a break, because this is getting ugly.
It's not good.
So, where'd you hear this?
Where'd you hear this story, if this was just a-
Shut up, con man.
I need to ask.
People want to know.
Put your hair in a bun or something.
No way.
Not today.
I got to let the lettuce go for the hockey lads.
You wouldn't get that.
Jesus Christ, I feel like I'm staring at a pool, AJ, on the fucking stage.
I appreciate that.
You can tell it again.
I would love to hear it again.
You know, you just said that we'll do anything for clicks.
We appreciate that.
But what we've learned here is coaches will do anything to find motivation in a story.
Including make something up completely out of their ass.
Yep.
Albert and Albrecht, doors.
D-U-R-E-R.
Doors.
They were doers that got things done.
And that's why when Home Depot is available, I think you go and you do it for your family.
So, thank you so much for that, coach.
That makes us feel better as we go into this last hour.
We got what to chuck.
We got headlines.
And we got picks to make.
Week nine of the NFL season is going to be one where we get the slate perfect for the first time.
Be a friend, tell a friend something nice.
Even if it's not real.
Good story, Charlie.
Just know I'd go down on the mind for all you guys.
Thank you, Albert.
I'd go down there too, Charlie.
Thank you, coach.
Thank you, Albert.
I'll tell you what.
Nick Moraldo coming into my ear afterwards going,
I don't know how to tell you this, but all of this is bullshit.
Just immediately out.
Is the artist right?
The name of the artist is correct.
Albrecht is real.
Albert not real.
That's what we're learning from the name.
And there was 18 kids.
But only three of them survived to become adults.
So what is the point of the story?
Well, the story, the way he heard it was brother sacrificing everything for other brother who sacrificed everything.
It was paying back what had been already paid to him.
Beautiful.
Even though he sacrificed or had success.
So that's basically what it is.
He doesn't deserve any more explanation, Pat.
You nailed it.
But it's not real.
Columbus hadn't even sailed the ocean blue yet.
How do we know that it's wrong?
They just said that it's not real.
Yeah, but how do we know that's real?
Yeah, but what is real?
We'll see it on the other side.
Be a friend to our friends.
Something nice might change.
Here we go.
If this goes in, we know.
Albert was a real motherfucker.
I've never been so confident in a throw.
Do you have this shot, Bruce?
Yeah, we do.
I was trying to give the thumbs up.
Do we want to cut to that?
There we go.
I think he's in the mine.
For Albert!
Let's fucking do it.
It's fucking real.
Never been so confident.
Oh, boy.
Suck it, Nick.
For Albert Durer.
All right, let's take a break.
What a time to be alive.
Maybe Chuck does that at the end of the show and wins some people some money as well.
I love life.
Lucky to do it.
Sports are the greatest.
Something nice might change their life.
Take five.

He's the greatest, ladies and gentlemen.
That's AJ.
Jay Hawk, he's a Super Bowl champion and a college football national champion
and the all-time leading tackler for the Green Bay Packers.
The talk's at the tables here at Boston Corner and at Ty Schmidt.
Sweet sweater, Con Man.
I don't like that yours has, like, strings on it and mine doesn't.
Yours feels a little bit more legit.
Yeah, it's probably just the original six difference.
You know, the Boston Bruins is what the NHL is built on.
You guys are kind of new school dudes and we're kind of throwback, you know, genuine hockey town.
Is that why there's a. It is what it is.
The Pittsburgh Penguins aren't new school dudes.
In comparison to the Bruins, sorry.
But everyone is.
Ours doesn't have some cheeky little advertisement on it, so. Yeah, you guys are selling out.
That's because this one's genuine.
I think Bulldog Slamming actually wore this in practice before they sent it to me.
I mean, there's a chance.
I don't think Sidney Crosby would be wearing multiple jerseys from our understanding about
his little snitches that he is.
But it's an honor to represent the Pittsburgh Penguins who are in the middle of a three-game
slot right now and take on the Boston Bruins tonight.
We will certainly be watching.
We don't think they'll be wearing these jerseys even though whenever we put them on today,
just moments before the show.
We certainly thought that was the case, isn't it, Connor?
Yeah, that's exactly right.
And you guys debuted yours two nights ago against the Golden Knights.
Of course.
Tough game.
And then the Bruins debuted theirs next week against the Montreal Canadiens.
I have these homes.
Yeah, but you can buy these if you'd like to support your team's hometown remix jerseys,
which certainly got the job done for the Penguins as we lose to the Vegas Golden Knights.
And for the Bruins, a losing streak starts tonight.
I don't think so.
One half of the hammer down.
Cowboys AP Tonus here.
Get into our picks and what the Chuck and everything else happening around the sports
world.
Can you tell us what the numbers are telling us about tonight's game?
Who's betting what?
10-point favorite as a road team on Thursday night, especially being the Jacksonville Jaguars,
sounds a bit crazy.
What is everybody thinking about the line?
Yeah, it does sound a bit crazy, especially when it's the Ravens.
And you just kind of think about the organizations and, you know, kind of how they've been viewed
over the last, you know, decade or so.
But in this situation tonight, everyone is on the Jags.
And that's not surprising.
Because of, you know, kind of what it looks like.
And people don't trust in Joey Fanano.
But, you know, there's some people that do.
Okay, out there.
And now 10 points or more home dogs on primetime.
18-8 against the spread when that has happened.
The last time the Ravens were this big a dog was 2021.
Man.
When MVP Aaron Rodgers came to town as a 10-point favorite because Snoop Huntley was getting his
first start, I believe.
And the Packers won that game 31-30.
It was a delightful little game.
Yeah.
Over under 39.5.
That's low, especially for a 10-point spread.
They're saying that the Ravens offense with. But Fignano's not going to be able to do a damn thing.
Yeah, that is what they're saying.
What's the over-under for Baltimore Ravens points tonight?
My guess, looking at that right there.
13 and a half.
For the Ravens, let's see here.
Team, team props.
It is 15 and a half.
That doesn't make any sense.
That feels high there, 15 and a half.
They scored 10 at Buffalo last week.
Who, the Ravens?
Yeah.
Is that what it was?
Yeah, 36-10.
Yeah, 25 plus 15 is 40, which is right around the end as a 10-point spread.
And that's against Buffalo's D.
That's 37-year football coach, 18 in college, 19 in the NFL, Chuck Pagano.
Chuck, we'll get into your pick here in a matter of moments.
We know you have an affinity for the Baltimore Ravens and Italians as a whole.
So, Joey Fignano starting for the Baltimore Ravens in this predicament.
We know you might want to lean that way.
We'll see what the stats say, see what you say in the end.
But look, before we kick off Week 9,
let's go back to Week 8 in the NFL, Week 9 for college football.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for one of our favorite segments
that has ever existed on this particular show.
It's our opportunity to point out things that don't really make a lot of sense.
It's our opportunity for our old man to get into his front yard and yell at the clouds.
Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for What the Chuck?
Now, listen, Chuck Pagano is a man who has been around ball his whole life.
He's coached, he's played, and now he's in the media.
He's been with the officials, he's been on committees, he's been in the locker room.
And every once in a while, when something happens on the field that he doesn't like,
he just has to point it out.
And it's not just pointing it out.
No, it's going, hey, what the Chuck is going on?
I heard we're doing a little college, maybe, Chuck Pagano?
We got a little college.
Let's let the tape roll.
We've had a banger in UNC.
Yes, we did.
Chapel Hill.
UNC trying to onside kick right here.
Obviously, yeah, yeah, that's first and ten.
They just scored to make this a three-point game.
So do you know what they call it here, Pat?
What do they call?
Offsides.
On who?
On Chapel Hill.
Oh.
And I guess, I guess, did some research, talked about officiating, did some research.
By the letter of the law, it doesn't matter how much of your body, any part of the body
that's in front of that ball before it's kicked, they're going to rule it that way.
But great execution.
Pat, you are a master at these onside kicks.
Thank you.
You got a bunch of these middle.
We'd see a big opening in here.
We'd let you kick it to yourself.
But they just counted the numbers, right?
We got four guys here, and we got two guys in the middle.
Easy.
If they line up like that, we're going middle dribble.
Go, go.
I'm sure if they overloaded the inside, they'd go to the outside.
So really good football by Bill Belichick.
So this had to have everybody, right?
And Chapel Hill.
Including Bill Belichick saying what?
What the Chuck?
I'll tell you, calling it that close, calling it that close is insane.
That is, because normally bang, bang, play, especially if you recover it against the number
one team in the country.
That's criminal.
Yeah, it is.
That's a tough call.
You talk about a program, Turner.
Oh.
Like he's winning now in year two there in Chapel Hill.
What this would do for Chapel Hill and recruiting and everything, NIL, the money, all that kind
of stuff, big time.
So they call a penalty on that.
We get a rebound.
We get a rebound.
It's a free kick, obviously.
Yeah.
So let's try it again.
They line up the exact same way.
Who gets the ball?
Oh, they recover it again.
But we got another.
Flag?
We got another flag.
Are they off sides or what is it?
They're not off sides this time.
What you can't do is you cannot block before the ball goes 10 yards.
What?
There's a no hit zone in there.
There's a no hit zone, 10 yards.
And apparently this guy made contact right here.
Oh.
And that ball is right.
And it's traveling.
Over the line.
As that block.
Like, I don't know what that guy's supposed to do.
But these are so like, I have a feeling here, Pat, that you know how we would get with the
officials before a game?
Mm-hmm.
And we'd have a list of things.
Mm-hmm.
And Midge, Mitt's dad, all right?
Tommy McMahon, great human, right?
Love him.
He would bring me a bunch of stuff.
Hey, we got to go with the officials before the game on this stuff.
So they might have seen this before.
So I know Mario.
And this is the head coach's job.
And he obviously did a great job.
Hey, watch him on this.
Watch him on this.
If it comes down to an onside kick, this is what they're going to do.
They've been on offsides in the past.
They've blocked early.
Keep an eye on it.
I mean, that's it.
And as soon as they come back, they're telling them right on the sideline in the officials' ear, right?
Okay, so you're talking about the offsides being by an inch or two, a couple guys.
That's crazy to call that, on an onside kick when everything's so close and bang, bang.
This one, the receiving team, that first 10 yards is a safe zone.
They are not allowed to be hit by the kicking team.
Unless they engage in contact.
So if they're not trying to engage in contact, they are safe within the first 10 yards of the ball being kicked.
Which is why you see some teams, they'll take everybody, just go right in front of the line of scrimmage,
or in front of 10 yards, so nobody's allowed to hit them on the kicking team.
So even if they recover, this is kind of a game.
You can kind of like get hit.
That's at 9.999 yards right there.
You see what he did?
He went from here to here.
Yes.
To initiate just what you said.
Which is a safe play.
Let's get up here, and then we're going to go for the ball.
We're not going to go.
We're not going to go for a hit, so they're not allowed to hit us.
But where he ends up getting hit at is like 9.99999999 yards.
By the letter of the law, certainly a penalty.
But boy.
I guarantee you.
You very rarely see those get called.
Very rarely.
And you thought Bill Belichick was pissed on the first one.
Can you imagine what Jordan, his girlfriend, said on the second one?
Oh, what the Chuck!
We don't know about any of that.
We don't want to dive into it.
But we do know Bill Belichick's got some winners in there.
And he's got a team this year.
And if they would have been able to beat this Miami squad,
fully healthy, after two onside kick recoveries,
boy, Gumpy, tough times down in Coral Gables,
but good times in Chapel Hill, pal.
Yeah, game of inches, you know.
Those are the rules.
I don't make them, just play by them.
Chuck, I'd like to let you know.
Yes.
Gumpy told me what happened at the end of that game.
We were watching a lot of other games.
It was Halloween.
There was a lot going on.
Gumpy goes, oh, they had two onside kicks.
It was two penalties, though.
Offsides, clearly, or whatever.
You know, so I didn't even watch the tape.
This is coming from Gumpy.
He's a Miami fan.
You show me that this morning, and I just look
at Gumpy.
I go, Gumpy, that's an interesting way.
That's an interesting way to describe those two.
AJ, we never see that get called in those types.
You've got to be, like, egregious, almost,
would be the word that you would try to go.
That's really nitpicking there on those two flags,
but certainly letter of the law against the rules.
But I bet Bill was saying what to Chuck out there.
Yeah, are both of these reviewable?
Can they, like, both of these penalties?
Oh, interesting.
I don't think so.
I doubt it.
I don't know.
I would assume the second one is reviewable,
but I don't know.
Yeah, because then whenever they're reviewable,
when they're reviewing it, they're probably thinking
to themselves, why are you guys calling that?
Now you're putting us in a position to make
the Chuck and Cole, and all we really want to say is,
what the Chuck?
Okay, so I'm happy we got eyes on it.
It's subjective, so I would say no.
Okay, all right, subjective, you say no,
but maybe it is.
Who knows?
And by letter of law, I guess he did.
I mean, his left foot's at 10 yards.
His left foot's at 10.
You're going to need to clarify that one.
It's tight.
Hey, they went a nail biter up there.
Kudos to UNC for hanging in there with these guys.
But the U prevailed, big one, obviously, this weekend.
I had UNC winning the ACC at the beginning of the season,
and I got laughed off the set,
and they're not going to win the ACC,
so maybe I should have been laughed off the set.
But I think I've seen what a lot of people have seen,
which is Bill Belichick has actual players
that should be on the field in college football.
I think that's only going to get better.
Speaking of getting better, it doesn't look like
this team's going to be doing any of that, Chuck.
No, no, we've got a fire sale going on, obviously.
But we go to Jacksonville, we get obliterated,
but this is early in the game, right?
It's 7-0.
We cross midfield, we're on the logo, okay?
We're on the logo, and we're going to run this deal,
hand it off to JT, he's going to stumble,
he's going to toss the ball,
it's going to bounce off Josh Downs' face mask, right?
He's going to come around,
the ball's going to be laying on the ground, right?
And then watch.
And I, hey, maybe this is going to,
but this guy, nobody blocked.
But how about get on the ball?
No kidding.
At first, when I looked at this, Pat, stop.
Did you see JT Tripp on this logo?
Yeah, I did.
And watch him.
So let's just defend Josh for a quick,
because he owned this in his presser.
I loved it.
He owned it.
He said, I needed to have better effort.
I needed to get on that.
But did you see what happened there?
I think they had some, like, tar and some sticky stuff here.
Oh, you think just for when the Colts. Just watch it.
Just for when the Colts are on offense, they do that?
And then when the Jags are on offense. There's no way.
There's no way in hell anybody,
oh, there's a ball on the ground.
That, you know.
But he said, I got to get on that.
But I guarantee you, can you imagine?
Ownership is on the sideline.
Literally.
Can you imagine?
Yeah.
Literally.
Not figure, on the sideline.
Literally, on the sideline.
Sweet fit again.
Can you imagine what Carly Ursae was saying right there?
Well, it's probably, what the Chuck?
You had it, Bruce.
You had it, Bruce.
You had it.
There it is.
You had it, Bruce.
We're going to give him another shot, Pat.
Are we?
Yes, we are.
Okay, good.
Let's roll on to what the heck happened on the next one.
Let's do it.
Okay.
So, here we go.
We got a run and play here.
Boom.
Good tackle.
Boom.
Peanut punch.
He's stumbling around like pulling a frickin' sled.
Palsy.
I mean, watch this.
Okay, boom.
Boom, boom.
Do you know what?
Boom, boom, boom.
Do you see?
Boom, boom, boom.
Do you see, okay, so they're in an eight man spacing, right?
so they got enough to stop the run right they're not out they're not playing too high it's single
high right so you've got a three technique here you got an edge player here 33 is going to come
in 53 right 51's here so when you run this thing this guy has the a gap back here okay he's got
the b gap they motion over so now this guy's going to have this gap he's here he's here okay let's
let it run here for a second eight man spacing right i'm going to tell you when to stop stop
okay he's okay right he's in his gap is he in his gap now we'd like to see hat and hands
so i could come back right so i get two guys right it's so easy just to take the least path
the resistance just stick an arm in there and get driven into bejesus you can't do that right
right so he's got to get across it who who's who's
who's failing here we said this guy's got the a gap backside right
yeah he's cut out aj so when you get the front side just using shoulders and not setting a strong
edge and getting pushed to the sideline and you get cut out back here run it a few more clips stop
any of us wait a minute any of us could run through that hole oh no maybe not this guy
should be right here okay now if this happened it's going to happen get him on the ground yeah
come on cam we love you you're a hell of a player hell get get his ass on the ground wrap up and run
your feet mooney least path resistance let's just okay i said i did my job right here right
can you imagine oh can you imagine ownership ownership she's still down there she got the
clipboard she's a lefty so clipboard's in the right hand yep bump bang and poom what do you
think she's writing down there i guarantee you this is what she wrote what the chug
everybody's coming after her
coming after carly it's like carly's not on the field carly's not the one calling the plays carly's
not the one uh not doing their assignment carly's not the one you know not tackling anybody carly's
not the one doing all these things but carly has been on the sideline we haven't won many games so
in a world where we try to shake things up when things aren't working we haven't really done that
with her being on the sideline but that'll change i don't know i genuinely don't know i have no idea
what's gonna happen i don't think so because she wants to know and it's not like yeah and she's not
happy no she's actually
she's
can you imagine if you were kids and you got that look oh what the chug and then we're saying what's
called it's great news yeah three three what i mean we were we were still in the game back there
right okay and now it's right before the half we're gonna go down get a score it's 21 nothing
we're gonna get a score danny makes a nice throw here boom alico gets his fingertip we'll see him
tonight and we gotta pick sizzle we got lane who's a backup safety because they got a starter out
you'll see him playing tonight got a backup safety pick six
six now it's 28 nil and i can only imagine carly like maybe he got a finger on there but that's
one of our most reliable guys t warren that thing was whistled in there yeah but i can't now i don't
even know if she's got enough energy well she is though i don't know if she's got even enough to
say okay i like that carly uh we have faith that you will get it figured out but boy it looks like
there are some grim times ahead for the indian nationals and we're going to have to wait and see
what happens next we're going to have to wait and see what happens next we're going to have to wait and see
we're going to have to wait and see what happens next we're going to have to wait and see what happens next
in the trade market stuff coming to a halt because of the discrepancy between deforest buckner's trade
and jeffrey simmons trade just part of the story but when we're back in the super bowl in two to
ten years everybody needs to eat shit let's remember that you mentioned those guys right
we saw 94 and 95 in the interior of that offensive line for the colts you didn't see you didn't see
99 and you didn't see 90 right 95 was a parting of the red sea yeah 95 is a good player had a
boy they paid him at a boy at a boy okay is this more no okay jesus christ i was about to say god
god enough we know it's a we've talked ad nauseum look what's the score here 17-3 that puts them up
how many two scores one minute and 10 seconds to go in the third quarter right so there's 16 minutes
right and 10 seconds left in this ball game right we're up 14 we're good to go right
okay second and three let's run the tape go back to the beginning
are they in seven man spacing or eight man spacing here ty
i can't even tell how many guys i got there dropping this guy down you got a post safety
in the middle field so the middle is closed so just assume they're an eight okay go ahead and
run it they're actually running nickel dog and that's caleb off the edge from the field to get
a hit in the backfield go back to the game right so when you run this back so what do we have the
end zone of this one yeah i'm sure we go back to that beginning oh no i'm sure we don't actually
no we don't okay so what's happening is a bunch of shite you know and a bunch of missed tackles
but when you run nickel dog all right six is the edge player he's supposed to come down and get in
the b gap right here we do have the end zone copy right and look at what's happening okay so he
doesn't make the trip if he's hey aj when you if you're blitzing that b gap right wouldn't you right
before the snap kind of shimmy down that again so you could beat him across his face absolutely
yeah shimmy shimmy yeah you you would time it up time it up time it up and hit that right yeah but
you can't you're not going to make the b gap on a on a zone play away from you on a cutoff block
from three yards outside that tackle but if he shimmies and he does this right now that shortens
a corner for who
caleb williams right and he's gonna get a tackle for a lot this was the best player
supposedly coming out in the draft right defensive player last year from ohio state
that's all we talked about right he's a shell of himself whoa he is it's and i don't know if it's
his so he misses he misses two misses jeez and next thing you know you got a cardinal you got
a touchdown for hoko michael floor michael floor's dogs barking down yeah we all know where jerry sits
where at up in the suite hey i think he's up in the suite and can you imagine what jerry said after
this play well i think it was what the we did see that actually you're right we did see that we saw
it yeah hey there's more to come jerry no listen get a cup of water get some ice more to come here
we go okay next play okay so now it's first and 10 right 14 20 left in the fourth quarter still
up 14 they went down and got a field goal or a touchdown and they're still up 14 they went down
and got a field goal or a touchdown and they're still up 14 they went down and got a touchdown and
they're still up 14 they went down and got a touchdown and they're still up 14 they went down and got a
field goal or a touchdown so they're still up 14 so if you're arizona you're thinking we got to
throw the ball right we better start throwing we're running out of time no no no no no let's
just run ourselves a pin and pull concept oh aq's talks about pin and pull look what they do to
poor 30 caleb again he's in concussion protocol he may never come back what the coach what do you
mean look at what this kid did to him to recover from that yeah the jock so what happens
They got great angles on everybody.
The center pulls.
They probably should have called that.
What?
Block in the back?
Block in the back, AJ.
He cheated.
The guy cheated.
Should have called block in the back there.
He cheap shot at Caleb.
Okay, nobody's talking about it.
Could have got him twice.
Caleb turned his back.
Two hands square on his back.
He turned his back.
No, he didn't.
I want that alignment on my team, though, by the way.
I want guys like that on my squad.
I mean, that's clear as day pushing the back.
I mean, Caleb Don's trying to find his way out there.
It was a no call.
He got a no call.
It was a no call.
Yeah, I'd say.
You did right.
It was a no call.
Ask Caleb's folks if that was a no call.
Jeez.
We don't like that.
We don't like that at all.
Look at Algier running wild for the Arizona Cardinals down 14.
Running over people.
Going crazy on the sideline.
It's just a matter of time.
We're rolling.
Momentum has turned.
They've got an artery, right?
They've got an artery gushing blood.
Gushing.
And they don't have enough gauze.
And they don't have enough bandages.
They don't have enough anything to get this.
Can you imagine?
Let's go back to the press box.
Can you imagine what Mr. Jones, Mr. Jerry Jones, the owner, the CEO, the GM is saying right now?
The chairman?
I think he's saying.
After this run.
What the Chuck?
I think he is saying that.
Yeah, he certainly was multiple times.
Yeah, that's what he said.
I saw it in slow motion there.
And that's not it, I don't think, right?
We're not done.
No.
Christ.
Christ.
We're going to listen to some comments.
We're going to listen to some comments, I think.
After this, something that he said, right, a couple days ago.
I think we have that.
I totally understand why he's so effed up right now.
This would make you.
Yeah.
So what we got here.
Who's the best player on the offense for Arizona?
Gardner Minshew.
Yep.
Okay, second best.
Trayvon Brock.
Tyler Algier.
No.
He's pretty good.
Is this Bus Pagano's Balls Day with all you sons of bitches?
Are you fucking kidding me?
Trayvon Brock, best player.
Trayvon Brock.
Trayvon Brock.
Okay, so he's in the team meeting, right?
He's the guy who said, okay, look, we can't let T-Mac, all right, bust our ass.
We got to defend him.
Make him beat us with somebody else, right?
They got a bunch of good players.
But they're playing a quarters coverage up here, a split safety quarters coverage.
If the corners got number one on any vertical stem past five yards, and if he's pressed,
it's called MEG technique.
M-E-G.
Man everywhere he goes.
So if that guy's pressed, this guy's the quarter flat player.
He's off of two or who becomes two.
That's one.
this is two so his drop is off this guy the safety is over the top of number two he's got
the inside corner any two vertical he's got him with the corner and meg obviously he didn't know
that a meg technique was being played so this guy runs a china a smash route the linebacker comes
off the corner stays connected and we have a wide open now a wide open trey mcbride with the
simplest covered now this is like country cover three like we've been playing quarters all right
as long as albert duro has been painting pictures okay albert and han albert's not real
yeah according to waldo maraldo
and heard from him in years now all of a sudden he's gonna come oh this fucking guy's lying
there ain't no albert it's hoss yeah his name was hans i believe
but his brother liked to call him
albert do your homework
so anyway so we understand where the fit was supposed to be but this has been constant this
has been since week one the lack of communication details execution we get another touchdown
miraculous comeback they come back and beat these guys in over shouldn't have even gone to overtime
right no extra point we missed so we go to overtime so shoddy's jacked up yeah another
i don't even know how you could muster that up after they just came back and tied you right
and should have beat you oh yeah we're gonna get her done oh we're gonna get we're still gonna fight
the game's not over it's over well it was it's over yeah gardner minshu mania ran wild
oh you think it's shot and hive over shot and over shot and over wait till the colts beat them
well okay okay i will wait i will hold my breath actually until then but i did see i think is what
we saw after all so we go back to the press box and obviously mr jerry jones owner ceo gm sir has
had enough he's seen enough as soon as this play was over do you know what he said and did what he
said what the chuck whoa whoa no don't do it jerry it ain't worth it no i don't think that's we don't
think that's real we don't think that we don't think that is real and we would we would like a
we don't know
we would like to follow up we don't we don't know if that is real in itself but we have
heard from jerry since this moment which is good sounds like he's a okay can we please run the clip
could please run you're seeing signs of the play that you saw in the
uh first half of the game the other day it does not call for uh massive or not massive it does
not call for a very succinct uh important changes because i like the way we're trending
and he says i like the way we're trending and dallas cowboys fans say oh what the chuck so it
seems like he's okay after that fall if that fall was real once again we don't obviously okay yeah
could be a little concussed from it all could have a little uh you know um depression settling
in too because the amount of what the chucks that are happening in there what the dreams were for
this team versus what the reality is of this team but we don't think that's real i mean i didn't see
it in real time i wasn't i didn't get a chance to see that we don't think it's real but we did
hear him on sean and rj downer and 105 three afterwards so we think he's okay which is good
that's jerry jones football he would he would survive swimmingly if that happened easy that
was quite a fall though big parkour maybe he's a big parkour guy and he he rolled out of it or
something could be extreme walking i mean i could have never expected him to be able to make how he
just pushed off his two hands so good projected his whole body over the wall at his age did he
land that did he
did he did he have like a uh a cat and then he landed down there and he walks over to shot and
hover and says hey maybe there was a blob down there maybe maybe he can fly oh it also might
not be real i mean anything's possible at this stage of society actually all right we appreciate
you that was a lot of what uh wait chuck mcgonnell uh after what the chuck we got to go uh with
four what the chucks every week we've been debuting our shite
division oh yeah i will tell you this i mean this week was the most controversy i would say and who
makes it in who doesn't make it in a lot of worthy candidates to be in the afc nfc shite division
let's take a trip back to last week here are the shittiest of them all uh indianapolis colts they
reign supreme as the shittiest team then the tennessee titans they had a great game but they
still lost well they find themselves back on the shite division we'll see the jets i'll tell you
what they've been dangling around the shite division but only found themselves in there one
time and then the second half ravens which you alluded to earlier 85 point uh point differential
in the bad way for the second half of the ravens now who will be this week's shite division that
is what everybody is wondering it's tough decisions aj the conversation in the thunderdome
gets very very heated about who's the shittiest of them all well mirror mirror on the wall
who's the shittiest of them all
this week congratulations to los angeles chargers
you see the shite emojis there next to them they've been on here uh a lot this year uh mainstay here
six out of the eight weeks we've seen the chargers i think it's all because of what we expected from
them at the beginning coming out of a bye week they somehow looked worse i don't know how chargers
fans are dealing with it but they might be the kings of the shite when it's all said and done
if you don't win a game you're gonna have the number one overall pick aj your thoughts about
the chargers the leaders in the shite house
i'm just wondering like if the chargers somehow get a win do they even move out of the shite
division or do we continue to keep them in here who they beat how they look i mean there's just
a lot of those especially with what they've run up on their shite resume thus far this season
nobody could have expected this and we put up a uh a real slash tick tock this morning recapping
the overreaction tweet from the chargers fan and i'll tell you in the comments these chargers fans
they are fed up with them yeah they're done there's no changes no trades no changing of anything we're
going to continue to run it back it's like how long can you do that in this particular league
feels like they're going to be doing it for the rest of the season and they might find themselves
the mayors of shite town ty yeah they might and it's just not good i mean anytime you know people
start calling your gm joe sama ben ortiz you know that's kind of where it starts and i mean just for
for herbert to look as bad as he has like i i can't remember the last time we we had a guy who
everyone considers an elite quarterback look like
quarterbacks in the league just year after year ram's corner came out and said that uh he thought
justin herbert was throwing ham and cheese yeah neville meets and uh jim harbaugh was asked about
that and he said he did not hear that and everybody's entitled their own opinion so
you know hopefully they'll get to the bottom of it justin herbert i believe he has 10 interceptions
thus far we're heading into uh almost halfway point of the season okay so let's go to the
second team in the shite division this week and you asked for it you got it
say hello to the indianapolis colts back in there earned it now that only has three shites last week
had three shites as well so i think we missed a shite i believe it's four times i believe it's
four times shite uh team i do believe the indianapolis colts they're they're in the middle
of a fire sale and to be honest it it can only get worse in things you think you're at rock bottom
whenever the jacksonville jaguars embarrass you by you know 35 points well how about what do you
do if your quarterback's potentially going to get traded now which is being talked about in the
running back is going to get traded uh what about your number one wide receiver he's going to get
traded do you play those guys in risk injury like what it's a good question it sounds like
maybe the line of thinking at least with jt is that the cowboys run defense is so shite maybe
he goes for 200 and then you kind of maybe get a one exactly yeah you bump up that trade value a
little bit more we need to just run highlights of jonathan taylor if that's what we're trying to do
just during the game yeah the ipad is going to get traded and then you're going to get traded
microsoft surfaces turn those towards the camera just jonathan taylor going crazy only carries he
had last week how many six what does that mean season low i think he played like 28 percent of
the plays but i think he only i could be wrong they were down big but it wasn't it wasn't like
but they keep saying out of their camp that no we're playing we're going to play our guys downs
is going to play quarterback's going to play i don't know hey so what would you do
if you feel like you're moving on from jones then you're filled in all calls like do do any of us feel
like he's going to be the quarterback of the indianapolis colts next year no i hope so we're
paying 35 million next year yeah i hope so but if you can unload him and get a pick for him get
something for him what do you think we'll get for him uh fucking undrafted free agency tryout i mean
have you seen what we've been trading for quentin nelson went for a third and a fifth
the fourth one for a fourth no you're passionate about the
colts we're all passionate about we hate to see it but if he's not going to be your guy you can
unload him you get rid of that salary otherwise he's going to go into the off season he's going
to be a june one probably get rid of try to save you money on the cap i loved what daniel jones did
to us last year for the first half of the season i love paul i love where the colts yeah keenan
allen he's come in he's i mean he's not even talked about because we're so ass but he's still
doing it you know he's still out there doing it but daniel jones
he does deserve to have a little happiness just like jonathan taylor
and josh downs him asking to be traded he said that's not what i said
I didn't say I didn't want to be here.
Well, kind of.
Want to be somewhere else.
Just want to be somewhere else, yeah.
Yeah, it's not about not being here.
It's about wanting to be somewhere else.
What?
We can't have any of them get hurt.
No.
Right?
Like, that's a real thing.
That's a real conversation.
So it's one of those deals, like, if they're active
and then all of a sudden the phone rings tomorrow, Saturday,
and it's, hey, look, we're getting, like, with Jacoby,
And the Ravens?
What if Gardner gets hurt for Arizona?
Car's held back.
So then you just pull him back or you just send him anyway?
They're done.
Like, seems like they said, okay, we're done.
We moved him to number three quarterback.
We're going with these two.
If something happens to Minshew, it's back, and then we'll go figure it out.
We'll get somebody off the street.
So, like, if you're done, done, then let's get something for him
and make the move and give him a shot to go compete somewhere.
Is Alec Pierce ever playing football?
Yeah, next year.
That's another one.
Next year.
Why would you come back this year?
So, allegedly now, Quentin Nelson was trying to get a deal done
this past offseason as well.
We pay Alec Pierce the most money in the history of free agency
for a wide receiver, and then we tell Quentin Nelson to have to wait.
Like, that's an interesting decision, especially if we knew he's probably
not going to play for most of the year this year as we're trying to win it.
I love Alec Pierce.
But there's a lot of – Quentin Nelson, we don't want Quentin –
Quentin Nelson wanted a deal done.
They kind of backed themselves into a corner, too, when they traded Pittman
because it was like if you let Pierce walk there, then who's –
Yeah, traded A.D. with the sauce deal.
Who's Dan – who's he going to throw to?
How's he doing in New York?
He had, like, 170, that's right.
Pretty freaking good.
Yeah, but remember what he was doing with the Colts.
Drop the ball before you get to the end zone.
Drop balls all over the – I mean, maybe –
He's got to develop.
He's got to coach.
He's got to develop.
You know Reggie would develop this kid.
Well, that's all the guys they've traded.
We've said it before, but Quentin Nelson and D-Buck, when they were here,
they didn't really win.
They didn't win anything.
Colts, that's why the Colts are in the strike division.
Yeah, bingo.
That's why the Colts are in the strike division
and seem like will be maybe for the next couple years.
True.
We need the right hire at a lot of positions.
Man, you're just having a season like this
and then not having a first-round pick where you can even have the excitement
of, like, hey, at least we get to go get a quarterback next year.
Like, that is just –
How many picks do we have in the upcoming draft, though, Chuck?
On paper, it says 10 right now.
But it's actually seven.
There's compensatories in there, so it just depends on play time,
all that stuff.
When you lose guys in free agency, you get compensatories.
So they've got slots for those.
If they're there at the end of the year, if they come through, it's 10 right now.
Could be as little as seven right now.
Okay, so 10 picks, we can make some moves, okay,
and hopefully maybe get into the first round somewhere if we need to, maybe.
But us not having a one still in the middle of an obvious rebuild
is a little bit of a scary situation, I'm going to say.
Just a little bit of a scary situation.
Because their one is going to be potentially a top.
Top three pick.
Top two, potentially, with the Chargers,
especially if you look at the Shite Division.
So, Jets, good luck.
And if you do get a one, it's not like bad teams are trading for players.
So you're probably late first.
Okay, so don't we think the Jets should maybe give us our pick back?
Yeah.
I would hope.
You do somebody that dirty, you ought to.
Colts are going to single-handedly rebuild the Jets.
At least, yeah.
Let's go to the third team in the Shite Division.
We could be here all day about the Indianapolis Colts.
Congrats on getting tripped up.
Yeah.
I get it.
Congratulations to the Dallas Cowboys.
Wow.
Dallas Cowboys find themselves in here mostly because of the
What the Chuck segment that you just watched.
Gardner Minshew runs wild.
Cowboys continue to have the same problems that they've always had.
Why is this Cowboys team the way it is?
It's seemingly always the defensive issue.
We move on from Mike McCarthy because he can't win in a playoffs.
Well, in a playoffs, your defense can't do anything.
You move on from Michael Parsons.
Michael Parsons can't stop the run.
We're going to get guys to stop the run.
He still can't stop.
The defense has been the problem there for whatever.
Is that seemingly the case with this Dallas?
They had Dan Quinn there, and they were top five defense.
And then he got the commander's job.
And then they just fallen apart completely.
You went to Zimmer.
Then you went to Iberflues.
And now you're here.
You saddled your wagon up.
An up-and-comer, a 34-year-old that's never done it.
And Christian Parker, you rolled the dice there.
It's probably going to be fabulous.
At some point.
But it's hard.
These things aren't easy.
Like, with no reps, no time on task.
They brought in Mike Patton.
That's true.
He's not calling the defense.
Yeah, I know.
He can help, but he's not calling.
He can't tell.
Hey, either get him out and put Mike as a play caller and flip it.
So how's that work?
Because Mike can help him.
How's that work?
Mike Patton comes in.
He gets hired to be a consultant to CP who's never been around him before.
So Mike Patton just comes in.
Yeah, he was with him.
They were in Green Bay together.
So they had a relationship.
Okay, so they know each other.
So they even talked about doing this at the beginning,
but Mike didn't want to move is what I read, allegedly.
He's retired.
He's living in Cleveland, Ohio, whatever, Florida.
He's got Cleveland.
What?
Retired to Cleveland?
I think it was over by Cedar Point.
Oh, nice.
Probably living on Put-in-Bay.
Don't quote me.
I don't know.
But anyway.
Don't quote me.
I remember him as your Browns coach.
Remember, you had a lot of money.
Yeah, he loves Put-in-Bay.
And he's a really bright guy.
He's a good football coach.
But he's going to come in.
You know, listening to Christian Park, here's what he is.
You know, sounding board for me.
He's going to do some advanced work, study the next opponent,
have some ideas for myself and the staff.
So when we walk in there after the last game, here's who they are.
Here's what they do.
Here's their game records.
This is who we've got to stop.
This is how we've got to make them beat us left-handed.
Don't they need him on game day?
Isn't a big part of that is adjustments and stuff?
So he's sitting up in a box.
He's another set of eyes.
So he is there on game day.
Is he holding Jerry in there?
You know, is that his job up there?
Or is it just strictly defense stuff?
Or is he kind of keeping Jerry inside the suite?
Okay, just defense.
And Dano pointed out some stuff the other day, D.O., our buddy Orlovsky,
just about the offense and the efficiency and the EPA and things like that.
It looks like it, but they haven't been great, great.
There's been some games they've been held to 13 and 14.
That thing's supposed to score.
If this team's going to win,
they've got to have it.
They've got to outscore everybody.
The Cowboys stink.
I didn't expect it.
I thought they were going to be good.
Now they're on the shite division.
And rounding out the AFC-NFC shite division after week eight of the NFL season is,
congratulations, Atlanta Falcons.
Yeah, Dano!
This was highly, highly debated.
And inevitably, A.J., the other team didn't even have a completion,
and they lost, got shut out.
So I think you end up on the shite division in 2026.
A.J., your thoughts on that with the Atlanta Falcons?
And the reasoning behind it?
Yeah, it's a little bit surprising to see them pop up.
I guess that wasn't the first team I thought would pop in there at the four spot.
But when your quarterback throws four picks,
and the opposing quarterback only has three passing attempts,
and you lose, you seem to get blown out almost.
It's a tough look for them.
Yeah, I mean, that's clear as day.
That was the reasoning.
That was exactly what we said.
So congrats to these four teams in the shite division.
Everybody likes to celebrate the top of the NFL.
Here's a chance to celebrate the ball.
These four teams, I would assume the Chargers, Cowboys, and Falcons
all have a first-round pick.
I would assume they have the ability to get better early in the draft coming up,
except for the Indianapolis coach, which. You're saying Cowboys don't?
Yeah, I don't think the Cowboys do.
How? They trade away Micah, and they don't get one?
Quinn and Williams.
They traded for him last year.
They got four picks.
The Jets have that pick as well.
They have four total picks.
So the Jets have first-round picks for two of the shite teams after Week 8.
Yes.
And. Also their own.
And their own.
And the Jets have the better pick between the Packers and the Cowboys.
Obviously now, it's probably going to be the Cowboys' pick,
but if there was a scenario where the Packers' pick was lower,
they would get that one.
So they have three top-ten picks right now.
Yes.
Congrats to the Jets, man.
Cowboys do have one.
They have to surrender the higher one, yeah.
Okay, they have to surrender it.
Yes, they give it to the Jets.
But they still have a first-round pick.
They have, yeah, from the Micah.
Okay, perfect.
So the Cowboys do have a first-round pick.
Okay, got it.
Thank you.
Thank you in the back there as Dallas Cowboy fan.
Mitt, I love that, getting to the bottom of it.
Cowboys do have a first-round pick now that we're back in the top.
Yes.
Okay, so three of the four shite teams do have first-round picks.
The Indianapolis Colts do not, is what we have.
So maybe the Colts. They might be okay.
No.
They might be.
So what you're saying is they might be okay.
No, I'm saying they might be the shite-iest of them all.
They could get Lamar in free agency.
I mean, what if they go 11-6 this year?
They could win out.
I agree.
It starts Sunday.
Conventional wisdom says they wouldn't because they're trading all their good players, but. Titans look good.
They work themselves out of the shite division after they trade away their best player.
Exactly.
So there is a little bit of motivation.
Cowboys come to Luke's old stadium this weekend.
It's a big one.
Shite bowl.
I'll tell you what.
Loser of this one, straight to the top.
You think people will be there because it's Cowboys?
Yes.
Cowboys fans will feel that.
I'm excited to see the week after if anyone's there.
Who do we got the week after?
The Finns.
It'll be crazy.
Oh, man.
Actually, our. Toilet bowl.
You remember in college, red shirts, we'd have the toilet bowl.
AJ, did you have the toilet bowl in college?
I don't think so.
All the red shirt players?
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Toilet bowl.
Love a good toilet bowl.
The Colts are going to be playing a lot of those.
We've got nine games left.
All these teams that are staring down the abysmal finish of the season.
We're not even halfway home yet.
We're not even halfway.
home yet. Nine weeks.
Cowboys come to the Colts.
That should be a fun one. His five and a half point
favorites. Look into that one.
Because at the Loud House, Lucas Oil Stadium,
it's just different around here.
Just different around here.
Let's go to tonight. Week nine kicks off
for the NFL season on Amazon Prime
with the Jacksonville Jaguars traveling
to Baltimore, Maryland.
How's the weather going to be? Have we got an official look
at the weather? There's been conversations, but we don't
have any actual hard
firm forecasting. Let's go to one
half of the hammer. Dad! Cowboys
AP tone. The hourly for
Baltimore tonight as I
pull it up as it loads.
Let's see here. 7 p.m.
8 p.m. we'll say because that's when it normally kicks off.
71 degrees. Five mile
an hour winds. 14% chance of
rain. It's basically that until 10 o'clock
which it goes to 70 degrees still,
but 36% chance of rain.
42% chance of rain at
11 p.m. So maybe some second half
showers, but warm. A little
late mist potentially on a perfect night
for ball as Joey Fagnano
gets his first NFL start as a
10-point dog against the Jacksonville
Jaguars. Chuck Pagano, 3
and 5. Don't look now. Okay.
Don't look now. He's got a little fire
on that peace sign. Peel, peel, peel.
Cheesehead on his head.
Shout to the Packers doing that. Now,
let's go to tonight, Chuck. I know you've been
waffling a little bit. I know 10 points is
a lot of points. Will you please tell
us which way you're leaning and why,
sir?
Um, yeah, I have
been waffling on this one. This one's
hard, right? My brain says
like it looks like a no-brainer, right?
Your brain tells you, okay, go Jacksonville.
18 and 2 over their
last 20, right? The quarterback
numbers. We've talked about those ad
nauseam. What does Baltimore do
best on offense? Run the
football. They run the football. But what is
who's the number one rush defense?
Jackson football is Jacksonville.
Now, they're missing Hamilton, right?
Which is a big, is a huge
loss for them in the middle of that defense,
Pat, for Jacksonville.
But I just think
throw out all these. You got a rookie
quarterback, undrafted
rookie quarterback making his
first start in the National Football League, okay?
And Fignano.
He's got impressive numbers, right?
He's got impressive numbers.
You know, coming out of. We need that for Texas tonight.
But I. Like, this looks too easy.
It looks too easy.
Look at the turnover margin.
Jacksonville got nine interception,
most in the league, right?
They turned the ball over. They've got two
guys on the edges, right? Hines Allen
and Walker. I don't know. Do we have an
update on Walker? He's a go, we think.
I think he's a go.
So they've got edge pass rushers.
Campanelli, they're going to load up
to stop Henry, obviously, right?
They're going to play tight coverage.
The Achilles heel for, as you look
at the stats, what's the Achilles heel for the
Jacksonville defense? Pass defense.
Wow. But you've got a rookie
quarterback now out of UConn who
threw the hell out of the ball
at UConn.
3,500 yards, 28 touchdowns, one interception.
70% completion rate.
I've got to believe, like, Deccan Doyle,
hand it to Henry, hand it to Henry, hand it. You said missed?
A little missed late.
Late in the game? So you just
body blows, body blows. It may be
one yard, maybe two yards, maybe three,
maybe five, maybe minus one.
But you keep hammering the big guy.
And you keep hammering the big guy.
And you have quick passes. You get it out of this
quarterback's hand. You throw some screens.
You get the ball to heel.
Justice, love that. Trevor goes down the field, right? 17
touchdowns, only four interceptions. He throws
a touchdown pass. He throws another one. It's
14-10. Now you're late in the second
half. And our second half
struggles at the Ravens. They haven't
played good. They've been outscored by 84
points. You brought that up. But stick to the plan.
Stick to the plan. Body blows.
Body blows. Body blows.
Body blows. Body blows.
Body blows. Body blows. And then all of a sudden, guess what?
King Henry breaks a tackle. What?
Gone. It's gone. And it's wet.
So it's like Tampa and Atlanta.
They rush for 258 yards.
It's not going to be like that, though. It's 14%, 34%.
It's not going to be suitable. They're going to have to
drag 22 out of that stadium
after this game. Win or lose.
I'm going to find out, okay? Okay, you guys
are number one in rush. You know
why they're number one in rush? Why?
A lot of times, they've had 25 straight
games where they haven't allowed a 75
rusher. They've been up on people.
So stats can be deceiving.
So if you. So what are you doing? You're throwing
if they're losing. So you're behind. You're throwing
if you're losing. They're 29th in pass defense.
They've got some injuries in the back end.
So it kind of lends you to think that,
oh, shit. If we. Body blows.
Body blows. Body blows.
Body blows. Body blows.
Body blows.
Justice Hill, another one.
Check down. Hill, another one.
Breaks a tackle. 35 yards.
Boom. That one's. Check that one
off. Then you come. Body blows.
Body blows. And don't forget
Ali. Rashid Ali.
Does kickoff return? That guy is dynamic
and a good dude.
So many good dudes on there. And this is a
prideful unit. You've got a chance
on prime time to
save something. Save your season.
4-4. You've got three straight losses.
But
it's hard. I mean,
this is a. Oh, he's waffling a little bit. Get the syrup
out. Get the syrup.
We're talking about. Body blows? No, the best syrup in time.
Oh, Pearl Millie?
Yeah. That's right.
We are talking about Pearl Millie.
Is it Pearl Millie? Like Pearl Mills, maybe.
I don't know.
Ask your mama for what my money's worth.
Nobody mentioned that the Ravens have a new kicker tonight.
Oh, new kicker tonight? Hold on, hold on.
What's that? I believe Tyler Loop is on the IR
with a groin. Who's kicking?
That's a great question. Oh, Jake?
Moody. Jakel?
Alright, I like Moody. Moody can make some kicks.
Yeah, Looper. Out of Michigan. Okay.
Okay, so now that
we've said all of this. Yeah, Charles.
Yeah, what do you like, Chuck? Because body blows sound
good unless the person is unreachable.
You know, like, beating
up the body's fun unless the person
has a bigger reach than you, and you can't
body blow, and it's just. And then, oh, Trevor Lawrence has scored again.
And then, oh, body blow.
Trevor Lawrence has scored again.
And then now you're in a point where,
man, we've got to get a. Oh, shit. Head shot.
Head shot. Head shot.
We've got to start getting these. You know, we can't
body blow anymore. Declan Doyle could get
a little bit scared and avoid and
go away from. That's where Jesse steps in.
Keep pounding it.
Body blows. Body blows.
Body blows.
Alright, who do you got? Sounds like we know
you got plus ten, it sounds like, at home.
You know my affinity for this organization,
my love for this organization, everything
about it, and I want
them to turn it around. I want. Jesse, fan of those coaches,
players. Yep. Ownership.
Ownership. Everybody.
Steve Bishotti. Yeah, sure.
Good as they get.
ADC, the whole. Ozzie's still there.
Yep.
Food.
My heart says
go that way, but I just can't.
Oh, what are you doing?
What? What are you doing? I like it.
I'm going to lay the points. Wow.
After all of that, after that
entire body blow speech,
but at that time, as they go.
Now, on that note, I don't think it's worth a fuck
because I think the Jags will win by at least
ten tonight. That's how you feel?
I think so.
He's hot right now.
He is hot.
AJ, also hot in seeing the board very
well throughout the entirety of this season.
AJ, are you rolling with Chuck and the
Jags laying ten, or you think
the Ravens keep this close at home on
Thursday night? I mean, I've gone back
and forth multiple times inside my own brain
and listening to Chuck lay it out and talk.
about the body blows and how he was really pumping
this Ravens team up.
I was definitely thinking about
taking this Raven squad. I feel like ten points
is a lot, but I just don't
see how they do it. I got to take the Jaguars
on the road. I think they find a way to probably win by
17 points. I think, you know,
I think I see
Liam Cohen sprinting into that
locker room. Yeah.
AJ, you and I are in
quite a battle right now. I need to gain some ground.
I'm not going against either of you guys.
I'll take the Jags minus ten.
No, everybody's doing that. Do we have any Ravens
plus teners on the set?
Boston Connor, who's been seeing it pretty well
as well. You like Ravens plus ten. Too many
points. Too many points. I'll take Joey
Finano. It feels like, you know, he didn't
have a great outing last week, but he was the third
string QB and he comes into the
biggest game of the Ravens season. Kind of a
tough situation. Injury worries me,
but I believe in body blows. I believe
in AFC North football. Jags
still win. You know, it's ten point spread,
but the Jags at times have looked
sluggish. They lost to the Texans when,
you know, the Texans came over and they stayed
an extra week in London and everything, and they still
lost. And the Texans at that point were
a completely defeated football team. So,
I mean, I'll take the plus. Ten's too many
and I believe in Joey Finano. Ten's
a lot of points. UConn Joey Finano
did well. He can spin
it. We do believe Justice Hill will get
at least ten yards as a team. So
maybe that type of strategy will be something
with the body blows that can keep the Ravens
in this thing until the fourth quarter.
And then what happens? Tone, you don't like the Jags?
You don't believe in the Jags? I do believe
in the Jags, but I also believe in the Ravens. That's a good
organization. They've been embarrassed back
to back weeks. I just
don't see it happening again on
primetime. I've never seen it in my entire life with
the Ravens. Maybe the Kyle Bowler era
a bit, but not since then.
So, yeah, I like the Ravens. Keep it close tonight.
It's in the bank. The
bank is the bank. They
will turn on that. And it's not like they're two and
four. I mean, they can still do it this year.
Body blows. Body blows.
All right, I'll take the Ravens.
No, no, no.
I'll take two.
Yeah, you got him.
What's body bro?
Chuck, 10 points and a lot of points.
Where are you going, Chuck?
He's going to do some gimmick.
He's old, small bladder.
What's he doing?
Oh, no.
He's got to be doing a gimmick.
Oh, there's got to be something.
There's got to be.
He's on the Jags currently, remember.
He took the Jags.
He could have pooped his pants.
Minus 10.
He could have pooped.
He has the pads for that.
I mean, there's a lot of things that could be happening right now
whenever cheerleaders are on the Jags.
Yeah, let's go.
Let's go, Tone.
Yeah.
Body bro.
Sorry.
Yeah, I'm on with you guys.
I'm on with you guys.
Plus 10.
That's a lot of points to be in Baltimore.
I'm going Roquan, K-Ham, Marlon.
Get off the damn mic and cover somebody, bro.
You've got to come through tonight.
Yeah, they do.
Come on.
And they will.
Nate, you've got to play.
I don't give a – you've got a fever.
You've got this.
You've got that.
You've got that.
No.
Fuck that.
Mike Green coming off the edge.
Let's get Zay some touches tonight, Coach, huh?
Zay, a couple screams.
Gray Hendrickson coming on.
Zay, body blows.
Body blows.
Body blows.
Body blows.
Hey, how do you like this?
We're going to hand it to him again.
Yeah.
Liam.
Yeah.
Liam.
Do the –
No, that was –
Couldn't have done it.
That was bad.
We don't – we don't – we don't – that is a bad decision.
That is a – Bruce, get him off the tight, please.
Jesus, it's disrespectful.
You shouldn't have done that.
I'm sorry.
I didn't mean it.
But Liam Cohen –
He knows he's going to ring none.
Liam Cohen heard that.
Yeah, he did.
Yeah.
He's going to rock your fucking world, Charlie.
Yeah, he's got something for your fucking body blows.
Yeah, she's –
He'd do the same thing if he spent time in an organization like that.
Yeah, I agree.
You're damn right he would.
Yeah, sure he would.
He would be a little bit too far maybe, but I will take –
It's a prideful bunch.
They're going to show their pride tonight.
Okay.
Fuck yeah.
I will take the Ravens plus 10 as well.
It's just a lot of points.
It's a lot.
Just for an NFL game.
And, I mean, Joey Fagnano might be absolute shite.
I think he's going to be.
There's a chance.
He might be absolute shite.
And if he is, it's only because of his ankle.
He's got a big part of it.
We're taking a rookie, undrafted, free agent –
Yeah, I can't fucking move.
Quarterback with a brick on his –
You're talking about –
Dakley Doyle.
Hey, this is a Dakley Doyle game.
You're talking about Frozen, Pat.
Yeah.
This is my blood brother from Abruzzo.
And Campanelli, he's Italian.
He's going to say, you know what?
You're right.
Joey Fagnano, I ain't going to blitz you all night.
He's not blitzing me at all.
I mean, look what is on his ankle.
I mean, this is from practice.
This is from practice.
I mean, that is –
That's nothing.
Just a little extra pursuit.
Byron Lafwich played with a broken leg.
Byron Lafwich, yeah, okay.
Just the name you said, people know who that is.
Fagnano's got a lot of –
Byron is Joey's quarterback coach.
Okay, all right.
I want Joey Fagnano to play well.
I think he's going to possibly be hammered dog shit tonight.
Nope.
Come on, man.
Nope.
Dakley Doyle.
Dakley Doyle.
If Tootin' don't play him, it's just Rodriguez.
Rodriguez carrying the rock there, and they've got to put it all on Trevors.
He's due.
Like, he's playing so good, he's due for a bad game.
Tonight's the night.
Throw us a couple.
Where's –
Give Fagnano.
Fagnano's from Abruzzi.
Abruzzi, right?
Yes.
Two hours east of Rome.
He's a good Italian.
Yeah, we get it.
He's got –
My dude's been in the middle.
Yeah, he's got gravy.
He's tough.
And I guarantee you, he's not going to be throwing cold cuts.
He's not going to be throwing cold cuts tonight.
There's a chance.
It might be a big old Italian sub.
Yeah.
With shredded lettuce and a little mayo on top.
Mayo doesn't go on Italian sub.
Mayo does go on Italian sub.
It does go on Italian sub.
If you have taste buds and like things that taste good, you put mayo on an Italian sub
with a nice chilled shredded lettuce across the top.
And toast the bread, please.
I need Italian bread in there.
Maybe a little oil.
Put mayo on Italian subs.
You can put a little oil on it if you want.
Let's not fucking ruin the lettuce, though.
So, and on that note, Joey Fagnano might be spinning those –
Hey, happy!
Might be.
There's a chance that that's happening.
There's also a chance Joey Fagnano –
With no ankle.
Sits in a shotgun.
Lifts up that big boot.
Six foot three, two thirty.
That's what legends are made of.
This is perfect.
Like, when you don't have a book on somebody, you ain't seen a guy a lot.
They've got a little set.
And you and that guy come like cutlets up in New York when he came out of nowhere.
Oh, yeah.
Can you imagine?
We loved little cutlets when he came out here.
Stolato, this guy's agent.
You know how they are.
Nice catch.
Good hands.
Italians are sneaky.
He might stab.
They're sneaky.
He might not have an ankle injury.
That might be a gimmick.
It might just be a gimmick.
And Fagnano's just trying to throw something out there, making people think one thing,
and then bang.
Fagnano rushes for 80 yards and a touchdown.
Great catch out of you boys.
Never hit the ground.
What happens if Fagnano gets a helmet-to-helmet first play of the game?
He'll be fine.
Who's the backup?
Slovis.
Let's go.
Slovis.
Our sweet prince.
He's got played at fucking ten colleges in three years.
Yeah, he's got experience.
You know who played?
Hey, you know how many years Fagnano played in college?
How many?
Wow, that's experience.
He's got reps.
Body blows.
Body blows.
He was also probably in high school during COVID.
The mental toughness of this kid.
Probably, yeah, yeah.
Mental toughness of this guy.
Boom.
Body blows.
Body blows.
Body blows.
Body blows.
