The college football playoff committee is shifting toward using "football judgment" over pure statistics, with a growing emphasis on team strength in the trenches—especially offensive and defensive lines. This approach is highlighted by the inclusion of experienced football minds like Wesley Walls and Randall McDaniel, who stress physical dominance as a key factor in team success. Teams such as UCLA and Ole Miss are emerging as strong contenders due to their physical edge, particularly in high-level matchups against powerhouses like Oregon. The ranking process involves rotating group evaluations of six teams at a time, which explains why certain matchups—like Alabama and Tennessee—don’t always face each other directly, leading to unexpected outcomes. While the system is designed to prevent bias and ensure balanced evaluation, transparency remains a concern, as ESPN’s media coverage may influence perceptions, and committee members may lack full access to game film. Critics also point out inconsistencies in rankings and the lack of a neutral public voice to explain decisions, especially when voter bias or human error emerges. The 2026 season reflects a more competitive and unpredictable landscape, driven by parity and nuanced human judgment rather than traditional metrics. Despite the complexity and potential for controversy, the inclusion of football judgment offers a more realistic, on-the-field perspective on team strength. This shift could lead to more meaningful, high-stakes matchups and greater fan engagement, even if it doesn’t eliminate debate or criticism.
>> Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to our Humble the Bode, the Draft King's Thunder Dome, on a completely normal, absolutely normal Watt Wednesday, November 4th, 2026. We hope you had an incredible Tuesday, congratulations, all winners out there. Happy that's behind us. Now we're all going to come together and continue to enjoy the hell out of sports. Thank you, Tony. I appreciate that. From the hammer dot, dot, set that we were just in the talks of tables here at Boston Conor, and at Ty Schmidt, hell yeah, Foxy, good work back there, nine year NFL Vett Darrystay. >> Yes sir. >> And 12 year NFL veteran Super Bowl champion, player coach, Jackie Moon, Acuteply. >> Thank you. >> Go boys. >> We're still not live on ESPN, but boy, it does feel good to be able to hear ourselves, see ourselves, and know that the boys in the back just had to put together something that was magical in a moment of pressure. Way to go. I'm proud of everybody, and it's great to be back. I'm also proud of the fact that I genuinely believe that when push comes a shove with this college football playoff, that they're going to make the right decision. We talk about a little bit in hammer, dot, dot football judgment seemingly being used. But that's all we ever asked for at the end, because how many losses are held against you? How many big wins did you have? You're in this conference. You played this schedule. It always gets loud whenever you're trying to determine who the best teams are, who deserves an opportunity to go in a national championship or at least get into the dance. But it sounds like they are going to use a little football judgment, which we like, even though they were certainly contradicting themselves within the own conversation. >> Yeah, which is going to happen. You can never get it right. You can look back on past years, the initial rankings, and how it all unfolded. So they'll never make anybody happy, but yes, we are happy about that. I'm happy that Hunter, which we heard from him, actually made you feel good, because it's usually 99% negative after he speaks every time. So I'm glad they are looking at the trenches, hopefully avoid more of these blowouts in the first room. We shall see how that actually all plays out. >> Yeah, so here's actually the clip of Hunter Yurichek talking about the football people in the room to athletic directors. We'll showcase who always in the room where it happens when we're trying to figure out the top 12 teams that are trying to count down to one. And that's how you crown a CFP national champion. >> Hunter Yurichek said this the rest last night to kind of hurt my interest. >> Some of the coaches in a room shared concern about Ohio State up front and their defense and not necessarily the quarterback, but they did start a freshman quarterback installed some when they got inside the 30 yard line. >> Okay, so they say up front there, the football people in the room are saying these things. Let's look at the people that are in the room, shall we? I believe we have a graphic of all the folks that have a say or at least a vote in how this top 12 is inevitably going to shake out. You got some people in there that are big-time trenches, folks. Wesley Walls, 14-year NFL veteran, okay? He wants to Ole Miss. He moves bodies down there in the trenches. Super Bowl champion. And then you talk about Randall McDaniel, the person you think of as, that's one of the biggest baddest mallers of all time. Love Randall McDaniel being in there. Then you got Dan Coney, I think he's a defensive trenches guy from everything we know about him. And then Gus Malzone, that guy always running the rock. I mean, every football person in there, I think has like an old school football mindset about the trenches and what it should be. Whenever he said what he just said there about the football people in the room said up front. That made me get pretty pumped up about what's going to happen whenever these inevitably have to be picked down the road. Did they have too many SEC teams high? Yeah. But they're all going to beat each other. We assume a lot's going to change from this first ranking. But if you look at the stats of this ranking in the history of the CFP since 2014, only one national champion has come from outside the original top four ranking. The number two position, six-time national champs. Whenever you look at the opening CFP ranking. So that obviously carries the most. And if you get rid of the 2014 season, which was the first year of the CFP, you know, Iowa State was 16th and then they go on their run and win it all. I mean, it's just the top four from the original rankings anyway. So are we complaining about things that don't inevitably matter potentially? But at this stage, with this particular year, with the amount of chaos and parity it's been, how the hell are they going to know anything about these teams? And I guess that's a difficult decision in the room. But I appreciated the football judgment seemingly happening. If we look at the football judgment people in the room, I think they like big bodies that can move other big bodies. Yeah. And something Nick Sabin said to us last year when Ole Miss kind of erupted as a powerhouse in the SEC was, hey, Ole Miss and a lot of these teams, they've always had the skill set. Like the skill guys and the quarterbacks, they've always had that. But they've always been a little bit behind when it came to offensive and defensive line. That was kind of the big separator between those elite top teams, Clemson, Bama, Ohio State, and then the other teams that just weren't there yet. They've obviously seen it with Ole Miss, they've, you know, become that type of school that can run the rock and have a Kiwan Lacey. So that is clearly the biggest separator, especially when you get down to the Boise states of the world. You know, like those schools don't have the biggest guys up front on offense and defense. But that is what will get you over the hump and be a national contender. Thank you. I know you love to hear that. Now, did they make mistakes and if they're going off of football judgment, UCLA, if you just watch their film, hey, does everybody know, because they haven't really played anybody. No, you can say that about a lot of people, especially if you want to make that argument. And obviously, this particular team that it's at UCLA and Bob Chesney's first year had no decision making and what scheduling was each year whenever they joined the Big Ten and what it is, they run the rock. They got huge dudes on the offensive line and the defensive line. And the tape that you go and say, all right, is it going to hold up that whenever you take on Premier Town? You go watch what they did against Oregon. Or D-line across the board, gigantic, and then, tone, what is the average height of UCLA's offensive line? I believe it was 65, 315, somewhere under. So if trenchball is being respected more than ever by this football committee, which it sounds like is going to happen down the stretch, UCLA, I think, has a lot of room to go. They got USC, I think, and I think they have to go to Michigan. But other than that, if they're judging off a big boy football and they're judging how many wins and how you go about doing it, tough games remain, every game is a tough game. UCLA might be on a supersonic trip to the top of the CFP ranking. There's a lot of talent on Oregon and anytime you want to look at the trenches, you always want to see them play against other good teams, right? Oregon, obviously, has spent a ton of money investing in their D-lines and O-lines. And you went and watched that game UCLA played against Oregon. Their left tackle looks like an NFL tackle. They're two guards are massive moving bodies and then you flip to the other side, nose guard, defensive tackle, defensive event. I mean, they got guys everywhere and that is how you win football, guys. I've been trying to stay for years. They have some transfers in there. They got studs. We're watching that D-line. We saw some hand, we saw some swipe and we saw some bull. It's like they got guys across the trenches on both sides, which from our understanding here is going to be a pretty important factor with how tightly clumped all these teams are, I think. Yeah. And then the rank is a one thing when they actually get on the film, we see them and we've been boots on the ground looking enough to actually watch these guys. You can see it sometimes pregame, okay? This team is clearly the bigger, more physical team. But especially here like this, where you look at the quarterback situation, we were talking about it maybe last week. Across the board, it's pretty evenly matched, you know, SEC, ACC, Big 12, everybody has kind of similar quarterbacks, nobody's kind of really separate themselves. So I think the trenches will be even more of a factor this year when it comes to CFP. Yeah, and I didn't see, can we put the room back up, the people that are in there? Is Reese Davis in there, make it? No. Is there any representative? No. Am I mistaken? Because I saw everybody was mad at the SEC, CSPN, which I will say more than anybody else on TV on ESPN because represent the North, okay, in a lot of these conversations. But this is, this is the group that is creating the top 12 and the top 25 and picking it all. ESPN pays to be the ones who can unveil it, just like they do with the playoffs. And I know a lot of people say, well, that means they're in control and they're the ones playing. It's like, yeah, I mean, maybe they do have some sway and some scheduling stuff and who goes where? But a lot of these decisions are getting pond off on ESPN. They're happening by people that aren't ESPN, like an ESPN invests that money. That's a lot of money that they're investing in and care deeply about sport. And there's a man that gets a chance to question these people, who I think is one, I mean, 25 years, 30 years maybe, had ESPN? Yeah, probably. 90s. One of the pillars of ESPN still got us fastball. Oh, yeah. Oh, my God. So did you hear the reverb on his voice in the intro for Game Day? Wonderful. Had Halloween all through. It did a whole thing. I mean, an absolute stallion. Ladies and gentlemen, host of College Game Day, Reese Davis, Reese ESPN gets blamed for SEC being ranked so high in the college football playoff thing. And I guess that's because maybe ESPN showcases the SEC with the game's package that it has. And that's the only place that these people that are in the college football playoff committee can see games is just whenever they turn on ESPN. They don't have access to every single film of every single game of every single team and especially know about that. But on that note, there was some teams from the SEC that were ranked in an interesting manner. And my takeaway from your conversation with Eurocheck was, you did contradict them self a couple of times, even in the statement in what he was. And it's going to be tough to subjectively, objectively talk from a position whenever your vote might not have been what actually ended up happening. So now you have to stand up for something you don't necessarily believe and you told them that. It was a great convo. But that Eurocheck convo about the football people in the room talking about Ohio State up front against USC and giving up too much. I think that's a big indicator of football judgment being used more so this year than maybe I've remembered. How did you kind of take that? Do you feel that? And when will we actually know if that's true or not? I took it the same way, Pat. And I think that probably historically from what I've been able to gather from selection committee members over the years after they've finished, they do rely heavily on the coaches and the former players that they've had in the room.
room and a lot of times if teams are close on the paper or close and the evaluations from the committee members watching them, they rely pretty heavily on the coaches who often say things like, you know, this is a team I wouldn't want to play, which I've always sort of laughed about that and I realize it's just verbal shorthand but I'm like, well, if you're a competitor, you'll play all of them, but, you know, I think what they're saying is these are the teams that will be toughest for us to play. And because of the reasons you outlined, the people in the room and their pedigree and their history and the sport, it has relied heavily on things up front and that also, you know, I think as Conor just pointed out, that's been predictive of success. Conor and AQ, I think said that and I think that's right. So I think it's not a bad way to look at it but I would hope that it's sort of differentiating among teams that are very similar as opposed to just being said, okay, they got a better line. I'm voting for them no matter what. Can you also tell me a little bit about the grouping comparison because there's head-to-head stuff that is completely backwards in the ranking and there will be every single week, especially as more games are played, but can you tell me a little bit about the grouping and the judgment off of if they're near each other, they are potting, I guess is they're in the same pod. They will be judged against each other but if they're not in the same pod, what is that? I don't think I get, I know they say it every single year but I don't think I fully comprehend what that means. I don't know, I've tried and tried and I don't think I've done a great job explaining it so I'm going to try and hopefully this time I'll do it as best I can. Thank you. If all of us sitting here now we're on the committee and we were in the room. The first thing they would do when we would come in is they would say, okay, everybody, you don't have to list them in order, although I presume they would be in order but list six teams, list the six best teams. We would list them, somebody would compile the teams we listed and whoever the six are that got the most votes for being the six best would then go up on the board and we would evaluate those six teams against each other then we would vote rank them in order. We would rank them in order, however it comes out one through four, those teams get locked into place. The other two teams get held over, we then do the same thing to list more teams to get another group of six and then we do it over again until we finish the rankings. So it's a different group of top six each time. Each time it's a different group of six teams, so that was a question I asked Hunter last night. For whatever reason, Alabama and Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio state never wound up in the same group. Now that is one of, that's the biggest thing that I would have taken exception to and I like to think that if I were in the room, say, wait a minute guys, look what, look at this problem that we have here and they do have a protocol for allowing a revote, but I think that's something to say, how come, how could we possibly have had a group of six in which Alabama and Tennessee or Indiana and Ohio state were not ever matched in the same pile of teams? That's something that in my judgment should have been scrubbed and should have been addressed as they looked at it, but that helps at least explain, not excuse, just explain. I think part of how it wound up that way. Thank you for the clarification on how we get to that point and I don't do any of the ranking stuff, I don't have any awards votes, I don't like that stuff. Can you tell me how common it is to just have little subvotes to create an overall vote because I just thought it was like for ranking of top 25, for instance, what you do, part of the AP college ranked, I thought you gave in your vote and then there's points assigned to each ranking and then by the points, then they designate to top 25. Is it normal to do sub rankings to create a soup, a big ranking because then one person's vendetta could potentially carry a little, is that normal, is this how, is this how super sophisticated rankings things work that I didn't ever know about? I didn't know that. It's not how the AP poll works, it's not how any awards that I know of, I don't know of it working that way, but it is. I think they've tweaked this once, as I recall one of the early times that I went through the exercise with and I thought it was just a top three that were held over, I think they hold over the top four now, but they've always used this methodology and that's why you'll often get, a lot of times I think it's been frustrating to people over the years that when I would ask, what about team A and team B and they said, well, the standard answer from numerous committee chairs over the years has been, well we never directly compare just two teams or we never directly look at the conference things. I think the methodology was sort of devised so that they could look at teams as a group and not always just have to say it's A versus B, but my sense of it is personally, each member in that room at some point has to evaluate A versus B. You have to look at two teams and I would think that all of these people would go in there with an idea, open to what others might have to say, listening to see if they can be persuaded otherwise, but going in with an idea of who they think one through twenty five should be. And we appreciate these people, where to go, it's not, I mean, rank in college football teams, picking against college football teams, deciding which college football teams fan bases allowed to participate in college football playoffs is certainly going to get loud, you know. And I can see why Hunter Yurichek, whoever's voicing for this, would have some, you know, maybe hesitancies to say a lot of things about what's happening in there because if you piss off some of these fan bases, they say some wild stuff and you think to yourself, and they might be telling truth right there. And you really, they're the passion for college football is the best that we have in this country. They're never going to get it right. But I don't know if you've seen the 2014 playoff, you know, if you were to put it together off of this, you know, CFP opening ranking that we have next year, there's some games in there that I think we could enjoy. I think we could certainly enjoy them. And every single one of them, you think, I can see an upset there. I can see that happening. Like for us dancing against Houston, good battle, good battle wake would be hosting a playoff game right now. Could you imagine that place back in down in the hills of North Carolina, a beautiful campus, small campus, small stadium, place would be upside down there. Then BYU, hosting boys, I mean, great. I mean, you talk about geographically, how that would, how that would look, how that would go. Great game as well. And then you talk about SC, Tennessee, South Carolina, Ohio State, it's Lennore Seller still doing Lennore Seller stuff right now, because to that football committee's point on Defad desire front, you know, it gave up a wall against USC. Oh, yeah. I mean, anybody can win any of these Missouri, taking on Texas Tech. That'd be electric. We'd love that. Oregon Ole Miss Iowa, LSU, Arizona, Notre Dame. I mean, I know we all hate radical change, but I think after the first 12 teams are kind of selected for the college football playoff from a committee of humans, I think a lot of people say, I mean, 24 not as terrible on this day. Now, will there be blowouts? Yes. Will there be blowouts this year? Yes. But I appreciate them putting football judgment in. Football judgment is something that can't happen with computers. Reese, I don't know if you know this. Let's head over to Hammer, Dunn, Dunn, Dunn wants to, he wants A.I. to take their jobs, ain't that right, Tony? Is that what you're, that's the drum you're pounding over there? Yeah, I do want A.I. to take these jobs, because, you know, I respect all these people on the committee and whatnot, and, you know, the problem with the BCS era, well, that was just two teams. But now we're at 12 teams going to 24 teams. I don't mind a computer these days now picking the situation, because when you look at last night, it felt to me like they just went around the room and they were like, started with one committee member, okay, who do you want it one? All right. You guys want, you, that you, just you, one person wants Miami. You're done for the night. Number two, who do you want it? Number two, okay? It felt like there was no, there was a lot of-- Like a draft? Like a draft? Like the wake and Notre Dame, both seven and one, wakes got a better strength, a schedule, a better strength, a record, a better loss, Notre Dame loses a BYU, wake loses a Miami, but wakes down at whatever, 17, 16, wherever they are, and Notre Dame's up at 11. And then other situations, UCLA and Utah, both eight, no, UCLA, better strength, schedule, better strength, a record, maybe Utah's got better wins. So there, in that situation, flip-flop, Utah's ahead of UCLA by five spots. You know, there's the whole Bama and Tennessee situation there that we were looking at. If you look at Ole Miss, Ole Miss is also six and two. They both have two top 25 wins and two top 25 losses. Why is it Ole Miss, where Alabama is? There was just a lot of situations last night where I didn't know where they were going off, strength, schedule, strength, a record, I test, top 25 wins, top 25 losses in that situation. There was just felt very disconjointed last night, at least with the computer AI system, you know what the metrics are, you know what you're going for in that situation. So, I just, there was a lot of human error I felt last night. Yeah, a lot of, in, a lot of this will change. Yes. Big weekend. But, stats have told us, if you look at it of the college football playoff since 2014 and Ohio State's the outlier, it's like the opening ranking, if you're in the top four, it's only thing that matters. He's what it's been saying. Reese, I don't know if this year is necessarily like that and I don't want to like hype up the rest of the season for all of us because we're living it in real time. But it doesn't feel like that's necessarily going to be the case this year feels different than any other year of the past. That's just me, I think. No, I agree with you, I think it does feel different and I'm not sure that those top four teams. Utah, we all think it's a really good team, but they're biggest tests are coming. They passed one at home against Houston. They've got a big one coming up Saturday. We'll find out more about them. Indiana. Again.
all the credit in the world. They believe they're going to win. And that's a strength. And that should be respected and valued. I wouldn't say they've played like a team that looks like one of the four best teams in the country right now. So I don't know that it's quite the same as it has been in years past. So I agree with that. The committee does get full act of a better term, a bit of a mulligan because they tend to these top 14 teams play each other. So some of it's going to sort itself out. They'll either be able to say, see, we told you so or all the, you know, Tennessee beats Kentucky. And then that gets them in the pod with Alabama. And they wind up ahead of them, regardless of what Alabama does against LSU. So a lot of this is going to self-correct over over time. We hope at least I heard some promising stuff out of 100 Eurochecks math. When normally I just go, I'm tireless of this guy that position not just under your check. The person speaking for the college football playoff to Reese Reese, I like you put a, he put his feet to the fire a little bit, a cup of different times. Well, if that's the case, then how does, and then he, I think he responded gave his answer. But I would like to go on record as saying, I don't think somebody has a vote in that room should be the voice of it. I think we've all said this kind of. I don't want to speak for anybody, but I think it should be the exact, I think Clark should be the guy that's in the room while they're doing it. Hell, he should say at the head of the table, easy executive director or chair, whatever it is, and he should listen to them and what they're doing. And then he should come speak and say, there was a hell of a debate about Notre Dame. Well, you know, like he could do that because he's not trying to stand up for any of his votes or trying to protect himself from any future hypocrisies if it gets out how he votes. So that's just how I think, but we appreciate all the people in that room making happen. And certainly you Reese getting to the bottom of it every single day. We appreciate your brother. You bet. See you in South Bend, man. Yes, sir. That's Reese David. Yeah, we sure. Doesn't it, doesn't it make sense? Which part? That the person, oh, yes, sorry. There was a lot they know that people that should make sense or not make sense. I don't think the voters should be the speaker. Like, I know he's the chair of it. So or whatever the case is, but he's naturally going to not like some of the decisions that were made in there because he's voting probably against some of these things. And then he has to come speak for that. That's a tough position for him. And this is with zero contact with any of these humans. Hunter, you're checking included. I have never might might amount one time on a sideline somewhere, but I it's not me like speaking for him. But as I was like thinking of his positioning last night, it's like he has to answer for some stuff that he doesn't even believe up there. And it's like, why why why we should just get the head person that is the the main person for the CFP speaking about what happens with the voters, especially if the voters terms kind of change, that would be a consistent in there. And he could even say like, this committee's a little different than last year's committee. It feels like, you know, like those types of things would be greatly insightful, I think. Well, and it's evident from him that he may even though he doesn't out release say it that like he doesn't believe in some of that stuff. Cause I think that's what a lot of people have an issue with is that he doesn't seem confident in what they can, you know, like what their decision was. If you have someone who's not on the committee, then they can just explicitly say like, Hey, again, like I'm I'm the voice of this committee. I don't have a vote. I'm not the one, you know, opining for certain teams to be in there. This is where they came in, whereas those questions are always going to be there when he is on the committee and speaking for it. Then it's like, Okay, yeah, but you don't really necessarily feel like that in your body language and the way in which you're kind of delivering the message doesn't really, it doesn't really add up with what you're saying. So yes, if you have someone who is just basically the committee spokesperson, then they can just be like, Hey, listen, this wasn't my decision. That's what they came up with. And that's what we're going with right now. Yeah, we need a committee prior, a prior, you know, we need the person that's going to come out and speak for it. And we appreciate those people because making these decisions about college football fan bases from a tiny bit of experience. I don't do rankings or anything like that or have any decision actual or any point or anything. We're just picking against a team in a slightly disrespectful way. We'll land you directly in the crosshairs literally and figuratively. And that is just what that's why college football is great. Even the BCS would be people would complain about how the BCS stayed in. Well, that computer doesn't have a feel for what that game was. You know, Indiana should be to high state. There were just three inches away. He kind of talked about that. So Indiana four, we think they have a win over a high state, too, which we, you know, kind of respect. So it's just like, it never gets right. It's a never-ending pick a perfect shite division every week. It's hard to pick a shite division. This is for shitty days. Yeah, it's hard to get it right every single time, especially when there's a plethora of parity. But at the top, the CFP rankings tell us it's the only thing it matters. And if Georgia, who's ranked number two, six times the number two first ranking has gone on to win National Championship, George, we all would say. Yeah. Are there any big favorites right now? What's that? Georgia. He's been in favor. Hmm. Good call. Ton, who's odds on favor to win Nadi? Checking. Sorry. Georgia. Georgia is very. Yeah. So that would make sense. Uh, in Miami, you know, just because what North Carolina just did. Isn't that crazy? It's a good bargain. And Florida state. It's a good coat. Yeah, true. But Florida, my state, uh, Florida state and Miami, I think people view it as like a rivalry. Yeah. North Carolina. What Billy Edward just did, too, though. 50 Miller saying. Uh-huh. Where's that coming from? Good question. And they just said they're gonna, they're gonna donate a bunch of money to the next good news is they don't have to pay it all until 2032, I believe. So they can do it a line item each year. Oh, they can do teaching. Sure. Oh, they can do some merch. They can kind of do that entire thing. Uh, if Oregon hired him as the OC, maybe then the offset of salary and stuff like that. Yeah, offset language is in there. Obviously that happened with coach James Franklin with Penn State, where that the offset language. But Florida state, man, they had that run injured quarterback. Ohio State got doctor pretty good. Now they're saying it's because the defense, but I think we all understand why they're potentially talking in Ohio State. The history of the college football playoff committee, if you don't have your guys and keep positions, the football people in there are gonna say, no, that ain't to say team. This has happened in the past. It happened in Florida State. Oh, yeah. Since then, it's been like, man, because we thought they were all the way back. We're on the wrong end of it on college game day. They hated us. Definitely hated her. Be hated. My guts as well. Just, you know, for everything, I think it's a hell, but you could feel their passion. Like Florida state fans are still there. Oh, yeah. Like Florida state football fans are still very much there. They are still yearning for success. They are still a massive brand that could bring it. Find our coach restarting. Have to go 50 mil at the door. That is just a, that's what a lot of people, Governor Jeff Landry, last year, whenever they moved on from their coach, Kelly, he goes, have you seen these deals? I mean, you know, bike rubs. Yeah. What are we doing? And now his name's popping up for Florida state. He's interested. Well, I saw some video. Oh, yeah. There's a lot of those going around. I don't, he was dancing for rain. They said, Oh, yeah. I don't know if I, I don't know. I don't know if that's accurate. All right. Let's get to the NFL now. Every single Wednesday, we have a big lad who joins us and talks about the trenches, but it's not just a line D line play. No, no. It's also something that hasn't been chatted about enough. A Q has his takeaway. A Q. What's your takeaway coming out of week eight of the NFL season? There's a lot of things you could talk about. There's a lot of different angles and ways you could go. What is your number one takeaway from week eight of the NFL season? Steeler's D my sack. Banger. Hey, the reason, the reason I brought that up, the reason I brought that up is, listen, we can talk about all the sacks. They'd eight and a half sacks this week. It was an unbelievable effort by that defense, Patrick Graham, all the boys showed up. But if you look at these three clips that I show every single time it's a sack, it's the other guys that are causing the sack for their brother, right? So if you look right here, Cam Hayward, he's highlighted. He's going against Zion Johnson, left guard of the Browns. He's going to give him a long arm as he comes off the ball, boom, long arm right there. And then look who that is outside. That's her big. He's an absolute monster, one of the three headed monster on the edge, but Cam Hayward goes inside, causes it back to her big, and you get the sack on the next clip. Again, same thing. We got betting up. We got her big. We got what all to the same side, betting's an absolute animal playing the nose. But anytime you get three to a side, watch out for the twist game. You're going to see him go pick the inside leg of Barbara. He's going to hit him in the hip and then her big is going to go around. They're going to cause pressure up the middle, push the pocket. Deshawn can't go anywhere. So what, what is that monster coming around the edge right there? You got TJ what going against tightest Howard on the edge? Yep. He has to fall back. It's to 14 yards. You get the easy sack for what? Now this is my favorite play because listen, you got Cam Hayward right there. He's highlighted again going against Zion Johnson. The previous play, we saw him go up and inside this time. He's slow plays because he knows her big's running the hump. He's going around the outside, but you have to have rush lane integrity. He's eating up to. He's reading it out and then he gets off and he gets the sack. So you're saying the my sacrifice is discipline. Fundamental sound football on the D line so you don't give up anything and maybe let your friends eat as you eat up other guys. Well, in a lot of times whenever you're doing your job, you're you think your boy her big's going to go get that sack and he runs the hump. And then if you do your job, now he escapes through that B gap because that's the open spot. Deshawn thinks, oh, I got a, I got an open lane. He's going to go there and then all of a sudden Cam's like, oh no, you're just coming right into exactly where I'm playing into. You're feeding Daddy says Cam Hayward, but Cam could get a little nosy in the A gap, right? And then open that up entirely then Deshawn can extend, maybe even run. Think about the clip of Bo Nix going a hundred yards right up the middle and every single image is splitting the red C against Arizona Carnival a couple weeks ago. That was because the rush lane integrity got bad. Everybody goes to one side. You get Josh sweat running the hump and you get this huge thing. Well, Cam knows that. Hey, if he's going to run the hump, I got to kind of play two gaps right now. Joining us now is a man who might know a little bit about [BLANK_AUDIO]
brother. Well, he's the one gobbling up there to Sean Walton. Yeah. Yeah. Hey, still curtain might be back, Jack. Big time. Eight sex. That's a lot, especially against Cleveland Browns. You have good offensive line, right? Very good offensive. I mean, they made it personal. I think that's the biggest thing we're not talking about. I think you heard all of the comments from Jared verse all week. And you heard every single player that got interviewed mentioned about that. Hey, they heard it. Not only was it on the defensive side, you look at the offensive side and they were taking shots every chance they could. Okay. So Mike McCarthy, maybe pretty good football coach. Maybe knows how to push a few leverage joining us now. As a man who's in the Houston Texans bull ring of honor, he's in the Houston Sports Hall of Fame. He'll be a first ballot Hall of Famer for a pro football, we think. Ladies and gentlemen, JJ Law. JJ. What up, dude? What's going, guys? For chaos. Forgot you're at 110. Thought you're at 1230, like originally scheduled. That's on me. That's on me. I heard there was a little bit. Did you hear we weren't able to get live at the beginning of the show because our entire backroom crashed six minutes before going on live and we're just waiting on technology. How did that go? Well, we're just kind of you with all the technology these days. You just kind of have to just like sit and wait for it to figure itself out. Yeah. You know, so you a lot of a lot of circling. Is it like it's just an unplugged replugger? What's the? I mean, you can definitely do that. You can take the game out, plug it back in. But inevitably when you plug it back in, it's going to have to connect anyways, which it wasn't connected. So we're just waiting on Bluetooth, you know, whatever happens there for them to connect to each other. And if they don't understand it at all mean either, I don't get the wires under the ocean blows my mind. Okay, so wires under the ocean, we understand that, you know, with tubing that we have nowadays, you can keep that somehow and drilling down there still doesn't make sense. The Bluetooth though, I will never get it. This shit's just floating around. I sent photo just by looking at you right now, buying it lands in your I don't understand that. And then in this back room, we have this massive rack back here requires multiple fans to blow on it from either side and talk about Connor like that. Come on. I think something was coming. Just guys been walking on the treadmill. Wait for that. You prick. Got like a bee, you know, maybe a bee, maybe a light sea. Yeah, working my way out of the sea cup. Okay, have a look. You do look good. You do look very good. Credit where credit is due. You look good. Thanks for eating like an absolute mule right now. So yeah, I've been trying. What's on the menu? What's on the menu? Whatever, whatever is out there, it doesn't matter. Halloween. Yeah, I pooped for three straight days, brother. Yeah, I'm still in the middle of that as well. You can imagine. All these seasons, stuff for the discipline. Yeah, yeah, you look good. Now you do know that jawline looks spectacular. We're trying. Shout to your wife too. I think she's shout out to her. Yeah, eating healthier because of that big time. And then whenever she turns her head, you get me everything. Yeah, exactly. Where's my candy? Anyways, massive rack in the back while we have to keep fans on it, that thing's got to connect to a switcher that Foxy has switcher controls entire show turns out that one down couldn't connect to Iraq. We're standing in between. I'm trying to get thin, you know, so the connection can maybe happen around me in Foxy, but inevitably we start from Hammerdown studio didn't know if that was connected either. It wasn't so I had to connect that, but how that happened? Well, who knows? It just kind of does it. So shout to tech for figuring itself out and crashing. Oh, yeah, tech. Hell yeah. Tech. Appreciate tech. Tech might be a little bit hungover. You know, big day, you should. Yeah, that's true. It's going to be a big day for blue waves hanging a lot of shit out. Gonna be a big day for tech. Hey, okay, let's get to what we're just talking about with the sacrifice of Pittsburgh Steelers. Teachag to they had eight and a half against Cleveland Browns. AQ mentioned it getting personal with Jared versus comments and making its way into the locker room and certainly utilized as motivation. But can this Steelers defense do this every single game? Why does this only happen sometimes seemingly as opposed to other times? Can you just tell a little bit about when a D line is working on a string together? And is this what the Steelers defense is going to be going forward in your eyes, Jake? I mean, also, you know, you have to take into consideration how a game is going as well. And when you're putting up points when you have a lead and the team has to throw, of course, and they certainly seem to be figuring out getting better and better. And we saw earlier in the year of Patrick Graham go from up in the box down the field. Maybe that was something to do with it. Who knows? But they clearly have a lot of fun out there. When you get eight and one day, that's a blast, especially against the team within the division that you have such a heated rivalry with. So for me, watching this up in the booth getting ready for our game last week, obviously, because I always had the Steelers game on for TJ. It was nice to see him get a couple. Yeah, and huge win. There's six and two right now heading into a by week. The old man on the team are certainly going to enjoy, you know, the entirety of a by week. Which they have full length one, which there was a nice almost are nice. Yeah, full length by weeks are different than week and a half by weeks. There are people that are learning of those right now, I think. I just learned about that yesterday. I did not because I was like, all right, let's see what all those fuss is about. And then I looked at it and I was like, Oh, that does actually really suck. Especially in Australia, first week, in an early, early game, they had to start training camp earlier than everybody. But hey, do with it. You're a professional football player. That's right. But for the Pittsburgh Steelers, great, break time right now. Great rest for the old dogs as they know exactly what's in front of them. Mike McCarthy, by the way, continues to win games. You know, maybe, maybe, maybe not the problem. No, you know, maybe, maybe not the problem in some other places. And him going back home has been beautiful to watch. I watched a special on him on Sunday NFL countdown talking about his brother that passed and how his interview was on the anniversary of his brother passing. And they are, they view Robins as like his brother saying, what's up? He say walked out of his parents house. There's 10 Robins up. He's never seen somebody. He felt like it was guaranteed what was about to happen. And he started crying. And it's like him going back to Pittsburgh Steelers winning and having this opportunity with his parents. I think he's living his parents house. It's about Aaron Rogers last year. Mm-hmm. Might be team of destiny type conversation happening in Pittsburgh, even though the Ingers would never believe that that could be such a thing with how it's gone over the last like 15 years. Now, let's pivot away from the Pittsburgh Steelers or certainly in the conversation. Let's go to a team that we saw on Monday night that I think might be unbeatable at this point. D, but has a question for you, Jay. Yeah, Jay, talk about the Chicago Bears. Obviously, they got the quarterback. They got the coach. And now with this addition of Jeffrey Simmons, who we've seen dominating FC South for so long, what kind of difference is he going to make to this team in his defense going forward in your opinion? Yeah, I mean, you saw it on display right out of the gate on Monday night. I mean, the first play of the game, like this, to most people, this isn't going to look like anything crazy or anything at all, but just watch him on this play in the way that he locks out with perfect technique, sets the edge from a three technique. Yes, it's an inside zone, but he sets that edge. The cutback happens there. And then he peels off and goes and helps make a tackle for five yard game. Yeah, doesn't look like anything at all in the stat sheet, but for me, his very first play of the game, that technique, that defensive tackle just goes to show you. And then three plays later, he gets the sack right out of the gate, like he is just a dominant player. And like I've said, you know, I said it on our pregame show the other day, like I think he's underrated only to the casual fan who hasn't been able to see a lot of Tennessee Titans games the last few years, but to football people, they realize how big of a deal this is and what he brings to an entire defense. And now the decordinator can also call less pressure if he wants to keep more guys in coverage. There's just so many things that he does for your team. Yeah, absolute record. A monster of the midway now in getting a chance to chat with him before the game after watching him in the AFC South for all these years, just dismantle everybody. Even though they lose, he would just be an obvious record in the middle of the entire defense. And on special teams too, I've mentioned this couple of times, just like you, if you're on the field, you're, you were going to give it a hundred percent. So whenever a punt safe is on the field, I don't think people know what that exactly means. Let's say you're at like the opponent's 41 yard line. It's fourth and four or something like that. Getting a ball back, punt team goes out there. Defense team will say punt safe. This is just keeping the defense out there. Safety leaves, returner comes on field. There's a fair catch. Punner knows it's fair catch. Defense is only on the field to get the pun off. That is the only thing. Normally take it off. Normally just kind of casual. Normally just kind of chill. Then he get assholes like this. Okay, he's trying to win the MVP at the Pro Bowl. And he sees a long snapper right in front of him for the first time all game. And it's like, I got a long snapper and a, a third, a third linebacker right in front of me here. And then the PPs on the other side. And I am 10 yards away from changing this entire game. And a couple of those guys take advantage of those situations. JJ was one of them on a regular basis, which I hated. And Jeffrey Simmons, same exact thing. Jeffrey Simmons, if he has an opportunity to wreck the game, he's going to do it. There's no playoff. There's no like relaxing. He has a motor and an engine and Tennessee didn't want him to leave. He didn't want to leave Tennessee either. I think I love that. I loved how much it was like he did not want to leave. I assume his name has come up a lot of times in the past with how the Titans have undergone, are undergone like new management. But Chicago benefited him. It might be two ones in a four. The Tennessee can turn it down. Two ones in a four. You can't turn it down. It's good old Chicago. Obviously stays healthy. Chicago is hoping it's a 32, a 32nd one. It might be. Yeah, it next year might be two. You know, I mean, it looked like a completely different team in the Seattle Seahawks hadn't been beaten up like that. Little on at home, under Mike McDonald, ever. I don't think that is something that has happened and then Caleb on the offensive side. Yeah, right. They might be for real. The bears might be for real for the next 10, 15 years. Yeah, we might be entering the Chicago bears are all the way back era. Third largest city in America.
So bears fans are everywhere. Is it true that they've got to do or close to a deal to stay in Illinois? Yes. They get a deal done. That's what's being reported is the initial. This happens for like three, four years, man. Nobody knows anything that's going on up there. It was in Indiana. It's in Chicago. It's in Naperville. It's over at the horse track in Arlington. That is allegedly how are they going to be playing football? As of right now, it's allegedly back to the Arlington one, which I think is what they wanted to do initially, and then that's all it took was, hey, all right, you don't want to pay for this. You guys want to bitch and whine about this. We're just going to move the team to Indiana that and I think they're like, okay, we can actually potentially lose the bears here. So Indiana is parked in this entire story. If the bears do remain over there in Illinois, is they presented an offer that the bears could take to multiple places and say, these people are down as we don't got to pay them anything. So, at least 50% will be the bad guy. Do you guys want us to leave the state because we're going to blame you. They're just taking like a percentage of our tickets sales for the next 30 years and we don't have to put any, but they're front in the entire thing. They're building the entire fucking stadium, nicest stadium we've had, couldn't imagine building it. Parking a lot, building it. Little plaza thing for everybody to hang out, building, hotel, they're building. They're just taking some tax from the area basically for the next 100 years, but we don't have to shit. We're just kind of showing up in a new spot. It makes it a load. You can see how we're in a tough situation with what you guys are offering us, which is absolutely nothing. And Arlington comes back and goes, you got it. 50%. Let's go ahead and make this happen. There's been numerous stories like this in the past. Allegedly Jim Ursay flew in a helicopter over Los Angeles and he was just reported by like TMZ or something. That Jim Ursay was flying over Los Angeles in a helicopter to scout sites for a potential new stadium over there. That made its way here to Indianapolis, to Indiana. And then all of a sudden there was, let's get a new stadium in here. And then the city's like, we own the stadium, you'll have to pay to our deal. Let's go ahead and get that done. There's always maneuver. I wish we could figure out some traffic and parking for soldier field location. Because I'm a huge downtown stadium lover. I'm a big, big fan of downtown stadiums. I understand all the statistical challenges, but there's just nothing better than driving into a stadium downtown in the heart of a city, especially a city like Chicago right down the lake. It's pretty badass. Yeah. I agree. But nowadays with what Jerry World has become and up in Foxboro with Pats World or Pats Land or whatever. Patriot Place. Patriot Place. I like Pats Land. I was in there. I was in the ballpark. But that is the new model. And why would it not be if you're one of these owners, you know? But for the good of the game, good of the optics, good for the cities, it's like those stadiums being a pillar of a stadium is a beautiful thing. Lucas Oil. Yeah, like right here. Right here. Right here. It's right here. It's part of the skyline. Yeah, it's big deal. It is. Huge skyline. Easy. Easy. It's a huge skyline. Easy dude. It's a big city. It's always fun for you. I've been watching film this week for the Jet's cheese, 80 Mitchell just went absolutely ham. It's ruined. Yeah. Yeah, just a casual piece in a trade. Two ones and 80 Mitchell will take sauce. If we don't get a one out of this whole thing of us just giving away all our good players, they're going to talk about this for a long time. You're not going to, unfortunately, there's just no way, I don't, I don't see it anymore. We might. It's been a start to have a one. Mm hmm. I heard they went Jonathan Taylor pretty good. I heard they might want Dan Jones as well. Okay. Okay. So we might get more change. Dan Jones and JT for two twos. Tall. No way. It's just two twos. You never know. One of this with none of our players and no number one pick this upcoming year. That's going to be tough. That's the tough one. It's the dog way, baby. We get not that's crazy graphic right there. That's a crazy graphic. That's a wild graphic. Okay. Jason, what is it? All right, JT. We get it. Okay. Big Skyline. The trade market at a halt. Hey. That's what Rappaport kind of indicated yesterday. I don't know if you heard this, JT, Rappaport came on and said nobody's able to trade anything right now because it's just vastness of two ones and a four, the fourth buckner is where it's a 2041 seventh or something and they have crazy and then Quentin Nelson, Perennial all pro. He's only a third and a fifth. So nobody really knows what the value is of anybody. Is it the Colts and Dodds value? Is it the League values? Is it the Bears values? Is it the Borgons? You value? So that's kind of put the trade market a little bit of a standstill as they're trying to figure out where the market actually is right now. That's what Rappaport said yesterday. It's not like the Dodds are saying, let me shake this shit up a little bit. Quick. Boom. Canacorn. That's a tough look. A couple diacos. That's a tough look. There are less. You got some pieces there. You got it. Just add the blue. Don't question Dodds. Hall of Fame left guard. Third and a fifth. But hey, you don't get it. I don't even have a team and I would have done that deal. I'll give you a third and a fifth of my pantry for that. I just have Quentin Nelson walk around my house because that's he's that good. Him and Schneider are buddies. Okay. There's a friend helping a friend. Well, and then you got Rappaport and Shefford coming out. You know, no interior offensive lineman has ever been traded for this bunch of capital before. It's like, well, how has the team ever been in the biggest shite position that's culture in right now? You know, that does change things. You can't just be comping what a team was and what a trade was then. Whenever you're given away all your good players and you don't have a one next year, that seemingly could change your positioning a little bit. Hey, you're going to have to get us now. You're going to have to get you. We're taxing a little bit. Why? Because we're screwed for the next 100 years. So like we need just a little bit of something. We're in a bad spot. Trade deadline November 10th. We have until then to potentially find the number one call. It's made a big move. They'll sign a guy. I don't know who's doing a signing. Okay. We don't know. We like the move. Hey, great to have you around. Great to have you around. Yep. I mean, these names are hard to pronounce. He's unbelievable. Give it a shot. I want to do it. It's got unbelievable football. You're new. A booth. JJ, you do it. Yeah. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. I know. Give it a go. Ty. Our monitor actually doesn't work. So I don't have his name on here. I've got it up there. I know I do. Yeah. Yeah. We're kind of just flying blind right now. Maybe added to me. What? I'm going to have a boy. Listen. At a boy at a boy at a boy at a time you want to call him at they call him Tommy, but at the time of a while at a boy. Okay. We call him double a those guys got a high motories of battery. He never ends. Okay. Double A's ready to go and he'll have a single A power. If you double A, I like that. Yeah. Yeah. I've heard that one. Yeah. Well, D2 double a. Yeah. And I think we like it strictly because we don't want to disrespect him and his family by saying his name wrong. It's a lot easier. These are things that we can say. Well, what we can also say is this guy's been a spark for us this year. This guy has been a spark for us this year. He's been making plays when literally everybody else has been leaving. So shout to double A, sticking around. What's that time? Well, I was going to say he's got about four or five days here to demand a trade. So he just got. No, I know. I know. I know. I know. I'm just saying. I know. I'm just saying. Yeah. We have bank views up right now. Well, it's game day on Sunday. Get him up there. They should just put up like beer prices instead of players. They wiped it up. $3.00. D.W. Mary. I cleaned downtown. Well, that's got somebody else was bought this space. Pace or season? Yeah. Ty Reese is back. Katelyn Clarks got new shoes. Okay. That is a cool space. That is a great space. Thank you. And everybody's talking about. They took it down because it's cool. It's only needed for first few weeks. They sell out these season tickets. We got it. They took it down. Somebody else will go up there. Seasons over. The new game. There's like a half wrap like that. It's like an upper quarter wrap. What do you want? You want the whole J-Dome? This is the beginning of the season. I feel like the bracket. Like the NCAA bracket where it takes up the whole thing. Well, obviously there's different pricing for all these sorts of things in different stories you want to tell. The coach said, hey, it's the beginning of the season. We're right here. And then if it was going to get well, they're going to work their way down the rest of the J-W. But instead, we got shoes to move. Katelyn Clarks new shoes are awesome. Halley's new shoes. Incredible. You'll see them up there on the J-W. Very odd. Everything must go in Indianapolis. And we need a one. Let's not just talk about the coach. We need to move long. Team is shite right now. Got a big one against Cowboys. That's right. Ty has a question for you, Jay. Yeah, Jay. You just had chiefs, Broncos. And just curious what your thoughts on that game are. And if how the Broncos play essentially is sustainable. Bonics is kind of terrible. The first three quarters. But then you look at his splits in the fourth quarter. He's unreal. He's already got 15 game winning drives in his career. And 13 fourth quarter comebacks. We know their defense is really good. But from what you saw, like, can they win a Super Bowl play in that way? Or do things kind of need to change? And they've been getting fairly lucky here. I mean, we're at the point where I don't know if you can even say that it's like luck or anything. Because of how often they do it. I mean, it's pretty incredible to watch the fourth quarter comebacks both last year, this year. The way that they perform in the second half. I asked Bonics about it when we were talking to him this last week. And I was like, your second half numbers versus your first half numbers are completely different. I was like, what changes in the second half? What is it about it? And obviously he was like, well, if I knew, I would just do it in the first half. So I don't have the answer. But then he started talking about like, maybe it's when the game is, you know, on the line. Or you absolutely need it. That's when it's just the, you know, most free, I suppose. And so that does relatively make sense. Like you're getting the most loose and free and confident version of him when his back.
against the wall and he has to make plays for this team to win games. So the guy could just have the absolute clutching and he's also still coming back from the ankle. He's also still getting healthier. We saw in the Arizona game him use those legs, used them a little bit more of this game. He ripped a couple nice throws early in this game, missed a couple also. But then the fourth quarter, when it's time to go win a game, they drive down the field, they go to win it and then Patrick Mahomes, another guy who's one of the best ever at doing this drives them all the way down to the one yard line, and they can't get in from the one. Me personally, I asked all week and had thoughts of, you got to use the quarterback sneak at some point for the Kansas City Chiefs. You have Justin Fields on the sideline. If you want to bring him out, have Kyra's Tonga behind him and push him, but you have to get one yard to win the game. And I understand why you don't want to use Pat, especially on that field and everything, but you got to use the quarterback sneak. Patrick Mahomes, hard as knee, I think, doing a quarterback sneak. One of those years, I forget it was Carson Wentz, also as well in a similar situation. So I think Andy Reed is against that. But if you look at what the Pittsburgh Steelers do with Farr Mooth, taking the snaps, you can certainly have somebody else do it. You didn't like that they were in shotgun. You didn't even like that there was a chance for a fall start by that right tackle, which Dan Orlovsky pointed out on all 22, his right name, moose. Right name, moose. >> It was absolutely a fall start. Saw it immediately on the field. And now people like talk about the look back, that's exactly what you do when you fall start and you want to play it off. Like you weren't, but there's no question that that was a fall start. And especially when Cooper pointed it out to the ref. Like that's called 100 times out of 100. >> Okay, they're that close to beating the Broncos, though, okay? Instead, they don't, now we're high on Broncos. Low on Chiefs, Conor has question for you. >> Yeah, Jay, they did beat the Broncos week one. And that was kind of the K-9. Welcome to Kansas City game and we all remember he ran wild. But you have the Chiefs again this week at home against the Jets. People are seemingly kind of concerned with the Chiefs. The teams they've beaten. When you line them up, they don't look great. And now it's seemingly, hey, if you stop K-9, my homes doesn't have enough help on the outside to really win these games. What is kind of your thoughts and status with the Chiefs? Do you think they have a team that can, you know, make a run? It's Pat, my home's in to read. They'll be fine forever. Or are you a little bit worried about them? Especially in the scenario you just mentioned, where they're kind of play calling at the end of the game. Got them in trouble and let the Broncos back into it. >> I think that there's no question that every team comes into these games with the game plan of stop K-9. And make them do it through the air over the top. Because right now everything through the air has been short. I believe it was, this is three games in a row. The Patrick Mahon's air yards has been under five yards per throw. And that's, he's never done that before. And so everything is short right now. They just don't have that Taekwam Thornton back in the Las Vegas game was the last time they were really throwing it down the field. They had Cyrus Allen in this game where Pat threw a deep through him. But he kind of pulled up and slowed up before the throw got there. Travis Kelsey is going to be Travis Kelsey. He's going to make those catches. He's going to catch the ball and open zones and run after the play. Emmett Johnson played unbelievable in this game. So I'm looking forward to seeing him again this week because he was incredible also making special team stacles. Rashi Rice being back, some of those underneath, tension throws, but they really do, in my opinion, just need one more big receiver to take the top off and to have some downfield threat. Because right now, people are just packing in on Kenneth Walker. A lot of stats coming out, you know, since Tyree Keele, we won't put them up. But there's a lot of stats about Patrick Mahon's not really being that much of an explosive quarterback since Tyree Keele has left. Now granted, situations are situational. But it does feel as if they get another weapon out there. Maybe somebody that can get open for them. Maybe somebody can take the top off. All of that is available still as November 10th is the trade deadline for Andy Reed. That's got to play better. Yep. He'll probably be the first to tell you that. Maybe he's not 100% yet, but he's definitely not throwing the ball. Like we're used to 15 throwing the ball. And a lot of it is, that's just kind of the nature of their offense. He does throw a lot of balls at the line of scrimmage or behind the line of scrimmage and get another player down there that can stretch to feel will help. But 15s for sure has to play better. Yeah, in last year, he's taking a lot of hits, doing a lot of running. They hurt this year. You know, comes out healthier than ever or earlier than we thought he was going to be. They have the success. They lose to the Broncos. Now everybody's wondering what the hell's going on? Well, and also when you do have Ken the Thwalker, it's like you should be running the ball 2025 times game. And Rashid Rice has missed a lot of time. So he might also be another guy that's like, "Hey, gotta get back into it." We mentioned trade deadline. There's a name that just got launched right into the front of the line of that. AQ Arizona Cardinals color commentator has a question for you, Jade. Yeah, Jade, epic comeback obviously by the Cardinals. Everything looked dead through three quarters. They put Menshu Mania in. He brings them back. They get the big win. Coach LaFlora has said that Menshu is the guy moving forward. Jacoby moves to the number three. If you're a QB needy team, like the Eagles, like the Ravens, like the Vikings, would you think about trading for Jacoby Berset? It's a good question, AQ. It's a good question. I think you really just decide what you're trying to be and what your ultimate goal is. Because I think the question is, like, are you trying to be marginally better than what you are right now? Are you trying to go out there and win a Super Bowl? Because I mean, I think that obviously, when a guy gets put down like that on the roster, there's a reason for it. And that the play has created that situation. So is he possibly better than somebody you have on your roster and could win you a little bit more? Yes. What are you willing to give up for that versus do you think it can take you all the way? And personally, I don't believe that that would be a take you all the way situation. I love Jacoby. Yep. I like Jacoby. The Minnesota Viking situation is interesting with Kyler with the hamstring now. You know, the hamstring Carson Wentz experiences about to happen. I like that for Monday Night Football. Carson Wentz versus Josh Allen. Do the Minnesota Vikings fans like that for the long term? And would they like Jacoby more than they would like Carson Wentz? I think he makes sense in Baltimore, where it's like, you know. Joey Fernando. Yeah, it's fun. Yeah, it's fun. Yeah, it's fun. But like, he could get them to eight, nine, nine, eight, where it's respectable. That's the kind of franchise that isn't going to just like, you basically say, hey, we're done with the season. But yeah, like, I mean, the Vikings are, there's six and one. Like, I don't think training for Jacoby Per Set is signaling to the fans. Like, hey, we're trying to go win a Super Bowl. I also want to see another intro division trade. Joe Fleck go back to the Ravens full circle. The guy's been traded everywhere in that division. I don't know why it happened last time in the same division. You should never help your somebody out in your division. But screw it. Make it happen again. Put him back in the Ravens. He can retire and then go straight into the ring of honor. Want a Super Bowl there? Got paid big time there. Answer the elite question there. Big time. I mean, everything about Joey Fleck makes you think about him going back to Baltimore and kind of finishing his football story. Jesse Mentor's defense. Don't that ball. The Zay flowers handed off to Derek Henry. Just let him do it. Okay, so Jacoby in Minnesota. We don't love. I'd love it. Maybe sweet. You're a Packers fan. Yeah. Okay, that's why you would love it. Let's do it. Okay, that is the only reason why you would love it. Yeah, as part of it. Haven't we said, though, which is why the revolving door at quarterback is happening in Minnesota, that with their defense. And Daniel loves. He said this. JJ McCarthy makes them maybe better than with Sam Donald. And all he has to do is be above average as a quarterback. You don't have to be great. You just have to be above average to be a quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings and your defense and the system should be able to win the games. Now, Kevin O'Connell has not had a lot of success with, you know, a lot of quarterbacks as of late. So people are starting to question everything about him and his system and his scheme. But if you could just play average, right? Isn't that like, that's what our eyes are telling us about the flaky. That's the idea with how much skill they have on offense. If you could just play okay. Yeah, but that's, that's really hard to do in the National Football League. We get to, we got to be in above average quarterback. Above average quarterbacks are making $35, $40 million a year because it's only however many of them out there. So to trade mid season and get it. And I don't think I would be that, I don't feel like a lateral move. Yeah, exactly. You got to be a top 16 quarterback to be above average. Below average quarterbacks are making $30, $40 million. Yeah, but you got me just signed a deal for 20 million or whatever. That's right. So he, they got a call San Francisco in making offer on Mac Jones that they cannot decline. So Mac Jones would know the offense? Is that who would know the offense? Because Jacobi's been in every single offensive system. So I assume Jacobi would be able to understand the Minnesota offense. Shannon McVeigh, right? Same tree, KOC. He would say, I don't know. I would assume. The terminology is the same. There's different nuance, obviously. But the terminology is the same. So it's an easy transition. Is Daniel Jones going, Daniel Jones thought of it. He's 30 some million, 30 some million. He's been there. He wasn't traded. So he could go back to the Minnesota Vikings. Or is it the Carson one's experience in Minnesota? I think you let it eat with Carson. I think so too. Yeah, he won week one beat the pack attack. That's right. And the bear. KOC said he loved Anthony Ridge. Manage it. Manage it. You said it. Just manage the game. Don't screw it up. He did after the game. So I don't love you. Kevin O'Connor told Anthony Richardson he loves him. Anthony Richland came in fourth quarter. Gets jacks for Jaguars. Guess what? Guess what? Look good. First time. Didn't look bad. No, he did not. Look like he'd get you out there. Why aren't we doing that right now? Maybe the Raven should make a call for him. Actually, pretty good in that system. Raven's got their guy. Fanny, I know I was a star. I saw him. He's got a brick around that right ankle. >> Yeah, he's got it, absolutely, that's wonderful.
around that right ankle. And listen, Fannyanos, Connecticut tough. Bigger, as you can talk and he can spin the pill, brother. Listen, I like Joey, looking forward to seeing that game, man. I was so looking forward to seeing that game. I was so looking forward to seeing that game, man. I don't think that's how it goes. Trevor Lawrence, 44 touchdowns, 11 interceptions in his last 17. They just demoralized the Indianapolis Colts. Bad teams, they put them behind the shed and shoot them in the head. Not get enough credit. Jacksonville Jaguars, not getting enough credit. Line has moved. Jaguars now favored by 10, not nine and a half for Thursday night, against Joey Fignano and Baltimore Ravens. That's in the bank there. Yeah, that's at Baltimore. Is that the largest dogs they've ever been at home? Has to be since in recent memory. Now they have had backup quarterbacks playing a lot. Snoop Huntly has made a probe because he's played so much over the last few years, actually with Lamar Jackson being injured in the ways that he has such an unlucky situation with the thumb first play. First play, that sucks that it absolutely sucks. Zay flowers was asked about Lamar next year. And he said, that's not for me to talk about. I don't know. And they're like, well, what does he know? It's like, well, I think he's on contract through next year. So the Ravens would be able to make a play if they wanted to to trade him. Is that what happens with Lamar? Is he going back to Miami? I know Gumpy's been selling that pretty big. Lamar Jackson's getting traded down to the Miami Dolphins. He's going back home. Jeremiah Smith's getting drafted down there. It's going to be a South Florida party for the Miami Dolphins. All these are pipe dreams. They're getting, yeah, they're getting Lamar and holding on to their first pick season. We got, we got the third most amount of Caps face next season as well. Yeah, don't worry about it. The workies they have, you hold on to those picks. Every single guy they've picked, he used to be unbelieveable. So he's a real man. Yeah, that's what they're saying. You get Lamar Jackson a quarterback down there with the amount of talent that they have young. There's a chance, but they would have to make a trade with Baltimore, who has another year of contract for Lamar Jackson. Fun time to be alive here in the trade deadline day. We appreciate the hell out of you. Have you seen who the odds aren't favorites are for the AP awards at the end of the year? Have you seen those yet? I have not. I have not. Well, here they are. MVP, Josh Allen, plus 165. John Harbor over there in New York, plus 225. Many coaches could be on there. Maybe Ben Johnson, you know, he's actually, he's definitely doing a good job. Will Anderson, Jr., down there in Houston, potential defensive player of the year. I know you love seeing that, Jage. I do. Even though the Houston Texas defense has kind of been the conversation. Yeah, they might kill his chances. Jamir Gibbs, he's on pace for 464 touches this year. And we have an update from Jack Campbell. I do believe that has happened over the last 20 minutes or so. Jack Campbell has a quote that has been released through social here. Adam Shefter's released it. Jack Campbell's statement through the Detroit lines. I have full movement in my lower body and I'm continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body. I know they're still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I'm taking things one day at a time, staying positive and focusing on getting better. Let's go, Jack. Hi, I'm Jack. Let's go, Jack. That is going to be tough. That is going to be hard. I assume there's a lot of fear and anxiety in it all. Keep going, Jack. Hell yeah, that is positive news right there. That is positive news. And if he's continuing to hear that he's going to continue to work back to get movement in his upper body, that means he's being told it's possible. We assume Jack Campbell will attack that, execute that, and we will be moving forward. That's great news, Jage. I love doing that. That's great news, hoping for absolutely nothing but the best as he continues to recover. Isn't it, isn't it crazy? The perspective that kind of gets put into place whenever we see something like that, what you guys did, and obviously you're in the trenches, so is IQ, you guys have contact every single play. And then something like that happens, and it's a very quick reminder where it's like, holy hell, you forget how physical this game is. You forget how fast everybody is. Hell, just in the blink of an eye, literally everything can change. That's actual with the sport. Oh, it's unbelievable. It's like those types of situations, I remember, you know, we had a teammate with cancer who had to, we had to miss him. You go to the hospital and you visit him, and you're just like, this or this, everything that I'm worried about, and I'm thinking about on a day-to-day is literally meaningless compared to life and health. And so, yes, these are the moments in you would imagine that that team is fully rallying around him, visiting him when they can and doing everything because this is the moment. And once you have kids, it changes it a billion fold even more. Like when it was, when I wanna break my leg or something during the game, like it's just you and you're single, it doesn't matter, it just picks it up dock and I'll go figure it out. Then you gotta start to have kids and you're like, oh, this is like, I got some real stuff going on here in my life. I can't just be breaking legs and everything's fine. So, yeah, I'm very happy to hear that he's having positive news. That's great. - Yeah, not only the responsibility, you have to other people so don't be breaking your legs, but also like, what if this was my kid? You know, that's my first time that I've, you know, that's been added to my entire life where I'm just like flying around like, hey, let's go in the moment, blah, blah, blah. And then something like that. - I haven't even thought about that yet. I haven't even thought about that. - Yeah, like McKenzie. - That's gonna mess me up. - I'll see something and I think to myself like, man, what if McKenzie, like that, it'll, I was at that Iowa Children's Hospital out there. - Yeah. - And they're talking about the, the NICU floor that they just built. It's brand new, state of the art. And Baby Midas was in the NICU for about 24, 36 hours, after he was born, I forget about it four weeks early, he was a 36 weeks as opposed to 40, so he was in there. And then you just start like immediately thinking, and then you run into like a four or five year old girl, you know, who's just a little bit older than my daughter and what they're going through. And then you think about what the parents are going through. It's like, man, I had no idea, these emotions, and it's like, you literally start putting yourself in those positions and it's like, perspective can change that quickly for all of us. Let's remember that, you know, and let's remember we're very lucky to be doing all this. We're very thankful to be alive. And we're very pumped that you made the adjustment to come on earlier as opposed to at this exact time. You're the best brother. - I was, I was throwing for a triple loop, and I'm glad that we made it work eventually. - Yeah, well, it's perfectly you'd have to TJ Watson. ♪ My sacrifice ♪ - That's right. - That is right. - Tell you. - What if your friend tell a friend something nice, might change your life? - Who'd you vote for? - All right. Right now. - Okay. - Clock's back. Thank you to JJ for that. Good news out of Jack Campbell. - Great news. - You, shh. - phenomenal news out of Jack Campbell. I was surprised at those odds that, at least one of those positions. - Will Anderson? - No, not him, but I'm surprised Jackson Smith and Jig, but is the odds on favor for the Office of Blue? - He's second. - He's second. - He's second. - He's close? - He's close. - Yeah, it's pretty close. - Okay, 'cause he's on pace to break the all time receiving. - Every record. - Yeah, how was it? - Constant disrespect. - What's it? - I don't see protector of the year up there. Any odds on protector of the year? - Right, you get bet on it. - Yeah, 'cause it's so hard to protect with you big guys. Who's gonna be good? Who's not gonna be good? - Who would be right now? - Yeah, who would be your protector of the year right now, Acush? - Quentin Nelson's gotta be in the conversation. - Come on. - We fucking traded away Quentin to the protector of the year. - Come on. - I think Quentin Nelson, don't know, right? - Boxes. - Boxes. - Boxes. - I think those three. - Zach Frazier. - Zach Frazier. - Frazier is unbelievable. - Oh, and you won a Superboy at the beginning. I said that, yeah. - Jackass, I just got to say that name again. I like that name, that Russian years. - It was a beautiful way to describe what they did, Thunderdom Creation. I do believe that they have turned back the hands of time there. And the fact that you don't have to complete a pass at quarterback position, and you can still win, takes a lot of pressure off. You know, they're wondering about backup quarterback. He's Baker gonna be able to play. They had the Tampa Bay Rays create a glove for him, so he's able to throw. They found out quickly, this time he's gonna take a while. Let's just not have Baker be a part of the offense other than blocking and putting us in the right situation. He's been able to do that. They win a game like it's 1920 football, maybe a little bit of rugby football. - Obviously, I loved it, right? But I need to know if you guys enjoyed watching a game. - No, that's a hell of a watch in rugby. - We're watching rugby, bro. We're watching rugby. I respect rugby, I like rugby. But those guys don't have pads on, they're just going at it, you know. And it's a little bit, sorry. I like more boring of a sport than American football. I like rugby, I respect rugby. Your tough as hell sport is hard. But whenever it comes to eyeballs, my eyeballs, I like NFL football, 'cause I like explosives. I like things happening, I like magic. I like speckies, you know. I like great touches, I like those types of things. But if it's a terrible weather day, in your quarterback can't grip a football, in your able to win a game, strictly by running, I respect it, but I don't want to be seeing this or anything. - There is nothing better than imposing your will against another man. When they know what you're about to do, and you can't do anything about it. - This is real, that we're in the Pound the Rock era right now. Buccaneers don't complete a pass. They outrushed the fouls by 220. He was a little bit like the Biscuit Oble. Steelers outrushed the Browns by 166 yards. Lions outdo the Vikings on the ground by 149, and then the car, that's just this week deep. It does feel like the Pound the Rock era, very, very real, which is why we need a one for Jonathan Taylor, at least. - But it sounded like you as a DB, didn't really necessarily love the style in which the Russian ears are. - Oh no, I've been in a part of a game like that. It wasn't rain, it was snow. Play Buffalo, I want to say maybe the day after Christmas and shady McCoy for whatever reason. It's the best snow running back of all time. So just knowing that you're in for 11-11 inside run, all game-loan, absolutely sucks as a DB. - Yeah, I mean, he had that ball, all they ever talked about was ball, ball. - Scary? - Scary, there it is. - It's fairly fumble. - In the snow. That's when it's most slick, cold hands, everything like that. He's got the ball out here and he's somehow crossing people up in the snow, never slipped, seemingly never slipped. Pennsylvania got it from Philly, goes to University of Pittsburgh, ends up being that guy, just electrifying it up against the snow. - Oh yeah. - What a time. Shady days in the snow. That was fun to watch. - Pretty filthy. - Let's show him the other side of it, I guess. - Let's do it. - Yeah, we're certainly sure. - Right here. - That was on yours. That's you. - Oh, no, I wasn't. - Okay, good. That's another snow game. No, that's the game. - That's just one of the, it was a good war white jersey. - Yeah, you guys kinda all blended in, everybody blends in with the snow. - Joining us now is a man who, I think was specs what the Tampa Bay Russian years did. I don't think he necessarily loves what is about to happen for defenses who are back in the sticker nose in the fan days. Ladies and gentlemen, college football national champion Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner, AJ. - Hawker. Hawker. - Hawker, we're pounding the rock. We're all the way back to that era. The Tampa Bay Russian years do something. We haven't seen since the 1800s, maybe in American football, not completing a pass professionally. How do you feel about that? And do we still believe that this is gonna be the way you're gonna win games? And on that note, Swift has three touchdowns, only rush for 64 yards. But still has three touchdowns for the Bears. In Jeffrey Simmons, the yardage in which when he was on the field, not on the field, are you scared to death that the Bears might be the team that's best set up for this entire operation? - I mean, I think the Bears are set up beautifully to make a run. And I think they will continue. They are gonna be a tough foe. The NFC North, I think, is really good top to bottom. But yeah, I mean, obviously we're not gonna have games that often where the quarterback doesn't complete a pass and you still find a way to win. You run all over your opponent. But that's a game, I think, that I wouldn't mind playing in one of those games. It's like, hey, they're just gonna try to pound the ball all day long. It does suck when, as AQ says, another man is imposing his will against your team when you know it's coming. Like, it's very difficult to get to figure that out. But I don't wanna watch games like this. Like, that's not, yeah, I like to see some points. I like to see some boom, boom, boom, shots, explosives. - Kill him, kill him, kill him. - Yeah, we like all those types of things. He's decordinated for the Green Bay Packers now. So he's got AJ, who's got his back. And I think it does seem like you have a little fire in your gut about that Packers team as well with way the NFC North is. Ain't linebackers in this. They know they're running every single down. Or do you have to respect the potential play action over top of you every single play, AJ? - In a game like this with the elements and you know, Baker's dealing with that thing. At some point, you know, there's a very, very good chance they're running this thing. So you don't have to, you don't have to worry too much about the past. But the thing is, like, once they get rolling, sometimes when they're lying, when they get rolling, and you just start to, like I say, all the time. And you think, okay, here, oh, I got a peek. I might have the A gap, but if I peek outside in the big gap for a second, 'cause last time he popped out there, always setting you peek, bam, he cuts back into your gap. That's what happens. It's almost like a snowball effect, I think, when teams can run on you. - You're talking about your sacrifice. I don't know if you saw what the Pittsburgh Feelers D line that had been doing, not peeking, you know, staying with good lane integrity, physical style of football. They had eight and a half sacks against Cleveland Browns. AJ last night, college football playoff rankings come out the first one. Ohio State, big topic of conversation. Obviously, if everything continues to win, you're gonna be able to move up and down this entire ranking. But history tells us top four, probably where you need to be off the opening ranking to win it all. How do you feel about the state of the buck eyes? And what's the biggest takeaway from your state that you used to be president of? - Well, I mean, obviously, I think Ohio State being like the first team out and all of that stuff. They're not gonna be pumped about it. But I think they knew, we know this is where we are. We have four tough games left. We have to win them all. Like, that's what you put yourself behind the eight ball by losing two games. Obviously, your starting quarterback goes down. But yeah, I don't think they're shocked at where they are. I think, I don't know, is Notre Dame people shocked? 'Cause this is it for them. Winner, you're not making it against this Miami game on this weekend. Were they expecting to be 11? - Yeah, I think pundits expecting them to have to win Miami game. I think we all in the football universe with microphones know that Notre Dame has to win this weekend. Like, this is their only shot. I think the rankings say that as well. Because Notre Dame's stipulation with the college football playoff is if they're with it 'cause they don't have a conference championship game, conference championship games indicate a ticket punched into the playoffs. So since they're not a part of the conference, if they're ranked in the top 12 of the college football playoff, they have an automatic bid into the playoffs. A lot of people don't love that. That was a deal that was negotiated to keep Notre Dame involved in this, which is obviously a massive brand, massive amount of fans, massive name, and a lot of money whenever Notre Dame comes to town. So the scary scene right now is Notre Dame somehow, let's say they lose to Miami this weekend, but they do what they did last year, which is dominate people down the stretch. And there's a bunch of chaos that happens with everybody else. Then Notre Dame's sitting at 12 in the college football playoff, and eventually if they're top 12, they get in there. But remember the 12th spot in the college football playoff normally goes to the group of six champion. So they would actually bump out the 11th place team. Notre Dame will go in and then the group of six would then go to the 12th seed, which is kind of seemingly what it has been over the last few years or so. So there's chaos potential with Notre Dame, but yeah, they have to win this weekend, which is kind of the same story as last year. I don't know, Dumpy, how do you feel about your Miami Hurricanes traveling up to South Bend this weekend? It's a big one, bro. Yeah, I think we'll be able to pound the rock. We just got to stick with the run. Like the worry is, offenses have been able to move the ball on us, and we haven't been making any adjustments. So I think it is going to be a bit of a high scoring affair here. Yeah, I love what college football's doing, AJ. I love what it's like. But once again, all the teams that are in there can either find themselves out there. Yeah, yeah, favorite. Wait, who, Miami's five and a half point favorite. No, okay, here we go. What was that age you were expecting? I was surprised. No, they're number one. They're undefeated. I just assumed that they would be the favorite. Yeah, yeah, Notre Dame must win game actually. So I think that goes into account home game. Tour to top three, husband. Can't is right now with Minson. Yeah, Malachi. What do they know? What do they know that the voters don't? It's going to be 37 degrees. Beautiful fall night. Perfect. Not bad. Perfect. Perfect for who? All the big teams. You think Miami Hurricanes going to be able to travel into 37 degrees? Yep. Absolutely. You, 37 degrees. That's almost freezing and it's the first one of the year. There really hasn't been a game that's been closed to 37. Yeah, I think Miami style of play is a okay for any type of weather. But you do have to, I guess, take any consideration. The environment up there in Notre Dame, one of the greatest in the history of ball, going to be an honor to be a part of it. Yesterday morning, his college game day travels to South Bend, 9 a.m. Eastern. We'll be alive with a big one. I mean a huge one. Miami guest picker yet? Sorry. What's that? Sorry. You name the guest picker yet? Well, so I don't name any guest pickers. I know you. I mean, you know, everything. I don't think. I don't know if they know. Yeah. I don't. I'm not 100% sure. Heavenly Lou. Revolt. Come on, Steve. Come on, unfortunately. What the hell? Heavenly Lou. That's what you're saying. Everybody died last night. What do you talk to? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. He could die. Me neither. He hasn't. His spirit will live on forever. Which is what you were referring to. They're doing light up risk. I'm sure I met the game on Saturday. Is that real? Yeah. Okay. Happy to hear that. So Lou Holt's will be there because his spirit will obviously be omnipresent up there. But I don't think they've named the guest picker. A lot of them.
a lot of people for Notre Dame, a lot of people from Notre Dame. Vince Vaughn forgot about Vince Vaughn, did he do it a couple of years ago? He did it last time. He did it like against Ohio State. But whenever you start talking about football players, I mean, he got super famous football players and Jerome Betis is associated with Notre Dame, right? Yeah, he played there, I'm sorry, but his kid is there, right? Yeah. That would be, I assume he's going to be in down. Yeah, it touched down last week, actually, Rudy, Rudy could do it. That's a fake story. He's available. Rudy Rudy was just with Lane Kiffin and LSU. Rudy was with Lane Kiffin and LSU at the walk-ons. There's a better chance they'd bring in Sean Astin than the real Rudy Rudy shirt. The actor. I think he's wise. Gamji. Yeah. Maybe that, but on that note, we have not been told who's the guest picker is. No. Notre Dame, though, feels like a layup. It should be. It feels like it's a layup. It's hard to get a guest picker in some weekends, like people, we feel that we want to showcase school as much as possible and school helps, everybody helps, but some schedules are just like impossible, you know, like some, some getting some, some folks to small college town, which isn't easy to get to. South Bend. They haven't got poured up. Chicago's closed. Yeah, so you can get them some of these places, though. It's like a two-hour, hour and a half drive from wherever, even the closest airport and then their shows and there's work and it's Saturday morning. It's a, it's a quite a juggle by the people that are making that decision. I have a couple times been tapped in or tagged in and say, hey, do you have anybody who can you do anything? It's like, I do help, but it is a decision that's made by the top of top of ESPN and I believe Disney as well. And this thing. Don't you think for this one, though, like this would have been a game that at the start of the year, you are circling. That's Catholics versus convicts. There's a lot of history here. Like a lot of people, like a distinguished alumni would return to Notre Dame for this game. Maybe not some of the other ones, but I feel like if you were a former player or like a celebrity who is associated with Notre Dame, like you're trying to find a way to come back to South Bend for this. Yeah, it feels like a big one. Yes. It feels like a big one. Not that game day isn't every week whenever it's on a campus somewhere, but sometimes that decision gets made pretty quickly, like I think people knew, hey, if everything kind of goes the way it should, game day will be in South Bend for this game. Notre Dame has been epic for the game days that I've been very lucky to be a part of up there. It is a football place, and you can feel it in the buildings as you're walking around. Can't wait to get back up there. But no, I do not believe a decision has been made on Picker. We will keep everybody updated, though, you know, we will. Is this where you, is this where you started the field goal kick? I was there when he had an old buddy drive the goal post. I remember we did a show there live Friday and you said the guy built the goal post and he was driving him there that day. The guy that built a marquee. Yeah. Yeah. That is right. Yeah. Farmer. You're sweating. You're like, oh, yeah, we have a kid come kick a field goal. I'm like, oh, okay. And then look, look at you now. And he was sitting on a bench. You remember, he was sitting on a bench, he had driven. He worked. He built the uprights because these are full size uprights built the entire uprights until like 2 a.m. or whatever drove them a South Bend. And then as we walked over, he was sitting on the bench, you see the up like out of a movie and it's like, yeah, I do those are incredible. Thank you so much. No problem. Told you we get it done. And then he just kind of, I think I smoked a cigarette. And disappeared. Yeah. I drove away. I think is what he did. So we, we thank that man. I forget his name. He was such a, he built this marquee, too, came in. Once again, I think he had a sig, look at the wall. I could do that four days, pops up with this entire metal marquee with the lights on the top of it, drops it, puts it up on the wall, says, hey, that's good. And then walks away, just goes back to wherever the fuck farm he's from. He's remarkable that lad. We'd like to say thank you to him. Yeah, I guess it was where it all started. That's crazy. It's the opportunity to end it, too. It is. We have him break it down, smoke a sig and that just, you saw off the rights. Take him home. I mean, a full circle moment. I would be a good way for it all to kind of ramp up. Something to think we see Stanford. Something to think about, Fox, that's a good thing, but that is good, because that would be a good football life. Great football life. I sound, geez, right, given exactly, 30 to 30 on that one day. Donated to the university. The uprights. Yeah. Well, I'm probably keeping that off, I don't know if I had to put it up somewhere. Oh, yeah, actually, no, yeah, put that up, yeah, with that word from the lagoon. Holy hell, sea geek. Tickets are 970 buck average to get into this weekend, 91% of buyers coming from outside of Indiana, which obviously Notre Dame has a lot of fans from outside. Miami is obviously outside. Tickets are being purchased by Florida residents than Indiana residents, a lot of Notre Dame people down in Florida as well. So I'm not necessarily saying that showing just how far fans are willing to travel for this matchup. They're willing to get South Bend one. Big brother. Big Mitch will be there. The game. Yeah, okay. So he's one of these fans. I like to see it at this circle. The game is turning into a destination event with fans traveling across the country and driving prices through the roof, says sea geek. We can now use Pat McAfee PAT MCA FEE and get $30 off. Some restrictions apply. Obviously, 30 is not going to do much of a dent there to see buy a couple beers at the game. Yes, it's only will probably one and a half one, actually, if you get a souvenir cup. Wait, I saw with prices for some stuff. Yeah. Today there was a big yeah, right bit of a change. Yeah. What happened? Was that edge? You know what you know what you don't want to talk about a phone or do not disturb. I saw some people. I didn't know if it was on every ballot or not. Did you hear they were voting to vote me off a game day yesterday? No, I didn't see what the show was talking about. Yeah, that's a pretty big one. I think that particular show. Oh, yeah. I popped out up. So I've been staying off of X. Okay, it's just it's a bit pretty mean on there, you know, it's calling me a snowflake and everything. It's like, okay, yeah. Fuck all right. Yeah, I guess this is me being so a lot of exports media people chime in and I appreciate that. I'm sure you're very similar to the situation up in it is it is very fun. I've been kind of utilized in the political world. I did not know that that was going to happen in my life. I've, you know, I guess initiatives never a candidate. And I think because of that, I don't really have a lot of people like getting my back in that world either. So I've just kind of pissed off old parties in that particular room and boy, I learned my lesson. I'm going to let you know that that is going to be a world that I am going to be dabbling away from in every particular world. But yeah, old, old, old cup of coffee yesterday. That was a crazy, that was a crazy thing to wake up to. And then I got a bunch of messages last night telling me, do you see dickhead? You've been voted off college campaigns like, no, that was on the ballot. I had no idea, but I am sorry, I am sorry that that was the case. And we will go forward, he's a wheeze. But I would like to say, congrats everybody. That's right. Oh, yeah. Way to go. Mark Deshera, one. He's in. Keep going. I don't know. I'm not saying it. I don't know what he's saying. I'm saying as he's been on the show, as a sportsman, whatever he's running for, he got it. No, I'm not doing anything. You do any of that. That means I am alongside everything that happens in the history. I am out on all of it. I just want to huge for the baseball game, though, huge, especially with the CBA Loom. That's a game change. I mean, there's a, he's going to hit eight home runs in that baseball game. Yeah. I pitch a perfect game. What? No, he's a perennial all-star Yankee legend. No way. They're going to let him play. He's hitting for three cycles in that game. Mitch McConnell on the ball. Got to go to him. I can't believe they knew full pitching. They do do full pitching. They do. The D8. Mitch McConnell's out there pitching. Yeah, he's on the bump first to Shera. I thought he was the closer. I think he does both. I think you can leave and then come back in. I didn't know that. That's where that's the only time we should be dabbling in any of those conversations. It's going forward. Is whenever they do the baseball game, yes. We should do it. No, no, we should not do it all cast that would be awesome. There's no message received, okay? Message received. And I don't think I've ever looked into what political party I'm affiliated with. But boy, I know which one hates me more. I've been experiencing that in real time. But don't get it twisted. There's someone on the other side to fucking hate my guts too. So it has been a fun run and can grass everybody who won, everybody won out there and voted. A lot of things have happened in our history to be able to vote. I'm happy we've exercised that and we are still democracy moving forward. Life is good. Let's continue to live that way. Let's talk a little bit about football in a different light. Let's dive in. Let's learn more. Let's be an asset to society and to the sports society. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for D-Buts Situational Report. Yeah, D-Buts. What a sit rep here in a suit. What do we need to learn a little bit more about or look into a little bit deeper? Now I was pretty early on in the sit rep life, but we've got our first back-to-back sit rep. And that's Joe Burrow had an unbelievable day. Now he did throw three interceptions to the same guy, Manny Hooker. I wish he could have been on everything D-B, but Titans didn't pull off the victory. So he cannot, but he had 38 for 48, five touchdowns in the air, one Russian touchdown, 462 yards. Let's get right to it. This is him second quarter, third and 18. It's a problem whenever you have that two-headed monster out there.
or tee higgins in Jamar Chase. When you're that deep safety or you calling the coverage, you got to figure out which way am I going to lean. Now, I don't know what the hell the types of doing here was tough to decipher this actual coverage. It looks like early on they're going to cloud Jamar Chase, but no, you got a corner in press and that safety that's over top, he's actually going to rotate down. And I believe the corner was supposed to be the deep third guy here, but he gets ran by. But why is Joe Burles pocket awareness? You saw this last week. He steps up in the pockets about 10 yards from the line of scrimmage at this point. He's going to make this throw from the 30 yard line, stepping up, standing composed, remaining the passer and on a dot to number one in the middle of the end zone, just a phenomenal pass and great pocket awareness by Joe Burles, moving on to the next play. Third quarter, first and 10. This is how it looks like quarters coverage. Now, corner back safety, we talk about leverage all the time. You can just look at the bodies on the inside of this corner right here. He got tee higgins at the bottom of the screen. All of your help is inside. So you have to maintain this outside leverage, much easier said than done. Rarely do you see a guy as biggest tee higgins run routes like these. That's an unbelievable route for a big man. And once again, great throw. What a throw, the anticipation. That thing's like hand to him on a platter. Absolutely. These are the toughest throws for quarterbacks to make. This is one of the throws that you look at when you say, hey, the quarterback can make all the throws that deep outbreaker because if you're late on that, that gets picked off and goes 99. The other way, just phenomenal throw once again. And now this is fourth quarter, first and 10 on the same play. Here we go, fourth quarter, first and 10. Now you got coverage once again. Where is this coverage going to go? Where's the deep coverage that is going to be an invert half? So those two guys highlighted, those will be the deep half safeties. And now you're going to use Jamar chase boom. Now he's going to be kind of a decoy. OK, so now number one, obviously he's going to take eyes. You got pressure. Boom. You're looking at number one. Now you have two guys on number one. You kind of have those split safeties who is a corner at the bottom of the field and the safety up top. So two guys, eyes go to Jamar chase. And now you have Micah Sekki, who seems to find the end zone every week in his offense. Once again, you got to worry about number one. You got to worry about number five. You lose 88 sometimes. But nine is going to find him anytime. He's running open down the field. Do you think they don't respect you, Sekki? Because of the gritty? It's not-- you know what? Going into the game, going into the game as a DB, as a defense, the D-coordinate is probably going to say, hey, Micah Sekki's got to beat us. Chase Brown's got to beat us. All these other guys have to beat us. We can't let number one, or number five, to beat us. Chase and Higgins will be the game breakfast weekend and week out. And number 88, because Sekki has been finding his own weekend and week out. So he's making that three. Yeah, he's making that three games to the touch. And I believe from high to say. And that's like whenever you bring in Jeffrey Simmons, everybody else next to him meets. Whenever you bring in a wide receiver, or you have two ones, usually you would say, like one A or one B, let alone three, a third guy, fourth guy. They're getting one on one's every time. Maybe one on none's as they go out there. And now, once again, this is a three on their three. Deep pressure right here. So when you're that deep post defender, you always have to make a decision when these guys are on opposite sides. Where am I going to go? Nine times out of 10, most deep safeties are going to try to get over to your Marchace. And that's going to leave one on one opportunities that Joe Burrow is going to find. So as soon as that safety in the middle of field open those hips and those numbers go the other way, nine knows exactly where he's going with this ball. And he's still got to be on time and on target, which not almost always is. And then you see him do it with his arms. Rarely do you see him do it with his legs. So right now, this one first and goal over time, it's pretty much the game winner. You're going to have man-to-man coverage across the board. Once again, pocket awareness, awareness of the pressure. Season breaks down. Once he's at the top of route and escapes the pressure, you look around the field. Everyone's kind of covered. T. Higgins will break free late, but everyone's covered. And as a defense, we're never putting a spy on Joe Burrow. We're never worried about the run. And as soon as you don't worry about, he's athletic enough to get out of pocket and scamper him to the end zone. So just complete control, just an absolute field general on the field. And really do you see a guy have a type of day like this throwing three intercepts? I believe he still had like a 115 pass rating. But you got 38 for 48. Five touchdowns, 462 yards. So this is back to back weeks now. I think nine touchdowns over the last two weeks of Joe Burrow. He's absolutely absurd. AJ, you said you're tired of people saying they can't win this way. I think debudges broke down. Yes, they can, especially if this is how they are constructed with the amount of weapons and who they invested in. I do worry that you have to have a run game at some point. I do worry that. But AJ, you want to bat for this particular style, maybe being able to win it all. Yeah, I think that we've heard people say, we've heard Dano even say like, yeah, you got to have a run game, but even guys like that are abandoned and say, no, they're so good and so explosive in their pass game. That you don't have to truly like feed the running back, especially if it's not working. But yeah, just I also brilliant play design. Multiple times here from from Zach Taylor and their offensive staff like this is awesome. How they're moving chase round. And you're right. But what a route right there by T Higgins. Big tall, like you guys like him cannot run that route ever. Yeah, in Joe burl can make every single throw. You know, Dan Orlovsky alluded to it after saying, like, because I was very loud about you got to be able to run the ball, especially wearing a pound of rock era. So maybe they are the outlier as opposed to the norm in this particular season. So teams having to get ready for him in the playoffs might be difficult. Okay, we got, we've been pounding, pounding, pounding. Then all of a sudden, I know where we got this wide spread offense coming right down our throats. Maybe they'll be able to catch people in the playoffs. I don't know. I'm not I love Joey burrow. Yeah, I think they're the most talented Jamar chase T Higgins. I just think in those playoff games. This is how Burrow wanted to build a team though. I know. I know. Yeah, I mean, if he if he can continue to play this, you can protect him and obviously the turnovers are something you can't have hook or mate, some great plays, but you can't have those turnovers. But yeah, this would be the team. This will be the outlier, especially if they're going to play better on defense. Now playoff time, they said they have home field. I would assume you're going to deal with some type of element. So that's where the run game usually post things, giving comes more into play. But we've been talking about the power in the right area, kind of all season long. So you have to be, I think have some type of manager run game. But I mean, if they get lucky with weather throughout the playoff run, yeah, it'll be tough to stop number nine in those guys on the outside. The time of possession conversations real to and at all. I mean, you bring in Dexie. Dexie changes the tenor of the entire D line. So if they can stop the run, I guess you don't have to be able to run in the playoffs. AQ, you're in the trenches, your thoughts on this style being able to win in the Lodge year 2026. Yeah, he's incredible. There's no question about it. What Joe Burrows done is incredible. And what's crazy to me is how good that offensive line is at pass protection and how bad they are at unblocking. It's kind of crazy to me to see the difference between the two amongst that offensive line. But I just do not think it's sustainable. I think there's going to be a day. Yes, he was overcome it against a shitty Titans team. But you throw three picks against a good team. You can't, you can't, you can't win like that. OK, picks are another thing. But how about just being such a pass oriented team? Now, we just saw it on Monday night with Jeffrey sevens. A pass game can get wrecked by one guy having the biggest game of his life. But Joe Burrow has one playoff games in the past. After taking 11 stacks did that against the Tennessee Titans. They were still able to win. Bates was still on the defense side. They're much better than they had been. But it's going to be tough. If they pull it off, completely 73% of his passes. And then you'll see a bunch of teams try to copy what the bangles are doing. Then we'll be caught in the middle of teams going back to the old era while saying, well, wait a minute, the Super Bowl champions just did this. It could be a really, really confusing time for teams that are trying to build right now in real time for the future. And maybe this is just people saying this. And it's not actually how the bangles feel. But you would think with all the conversation about, hey, the bangles are eyeing like someone like Jonathan Taylor, that would indicate maybe that they kind of understand to that this isn't sustainable. Like we need to have some sort of run game because at some point in the playoff, you're going to need to go on long sustained drives. And you're going to need to control the clock a little bit. You can't just assume that you're going to score 50 points of game and beat teams that way. Yeah, I'm pulling for them though. It's a lot of fun to watch. It is. It is. But it does kind of just go against everything. Now, winning regular season games, definitely, we got to know the reason why it's always compared against playoffs and Super Bowl is because when push comes to shove, you're going to be playing the best teams and the best teams potentially have the best D line, they have the best secondary. They have the best. That's what to play off. That's why it's always the comparison. It's like, can you win in a playoffs? Can you win a Super Bowl game, playing like this? TBD. Why not? Who would be those teams this year? Like the defenses that I guess you will worry about in the top Buffalo, you'd assume it'll be there. No England, Pittsburgh. New England. Denver. Jacksonville. I mean, everybody, basically outside of Jacksonville and New Orleans Titans, but look at those teams. I mean, all of them have good defense is really except for the Buffalo Bill. But even the bills, like they're the one team who like they would be able to go possession for possession score with the Bengals and they have a dominant running game as well. That would be 100 to 98. Yeah. The bill is versed. The bang was going to be a lot of fun. But sexy Dexie says hold on now. We do have a defense. We just might not have a run game. So I'm very intrigued by the agency playoff setup, but I think you're going to have to be able to run the rule. You're right. Thank you. I got a quick question for AQ. Is it possible AQ that they say they have one or two games where they kind of put together and they have a guy that rushes for 120 or 150? Is it possible? They could be like unlocked and all of a sudden they could figure it out a little bit. Yeah, but they continue to try, AJ. They can't. I mean, they even tried in the first half against the tight. Why don't we go 60 lineman? Yeah. I mean, again, same thing. They just for whatever reason those guys are, I mean, they're massive humans. I mean, they're two left. You know, it's Orlando Brown on the one side and then Mims on the other. They're massive humans. They stand up tall. They are built to pass protect for whatever reason. The interior guys cannot get the run game going and then listen. I think the way to beat them is to light it up and heat them up on defense. And now you get the ball. hands quick, they can't pull.
push the ball down the field. When you go eight up and seven up and do all the stuff that Flora has done. - Okay, so we'll see if the Cincinnati Bengals can defy all trends this year. And football basically since the beginning in late playoff and Super Bowl football, we're pulling for them. Chef, you just reported some breaking news. Sam Donnell out versus Arizona due to a quad injury, okay? Arizona Cardinals, that's good football team. - I need to enter off for them. - So we got Minshew Mania versus Drew Locke coming right down the pipe. Your thoughts, have you done any preparation for this game? As you are the kind of commentator for the Arizona Cardinals? - Yeah, I actually have. And this actually makes my preparation a little bit easier because we had Drew Locke in the first game. So if you don't remember, he hit a double mood to Jackson Smith and Jigba on the first pass of the game for like 80 yards. So I'm not sure this is a good thing because again, they've had it better. They protect the ball better. There's less interceptions when Drew Locke's been in the game. They lean on the run game. They got all the running backs back and they got a pretty good offensive line. So I'm not sure this is what the Cardinals fans were hoping for. - Well, Mike McDonald also, we haven't really seen him come off an embarrassing loss on primetime. Like we haven't seen this team have to respond after getting embarrassed, even worrying at defense. How are they gonna, we assume they're gonna have their best game that they've had after what happened on Monday night. Motivation and kind of embarrassment can certainly motivate a team. Now Drew Locke's a quarterback. I think your first reaction was better. Somebody over here said, but. - I mean, usually you know my take on most backup quarterback to some point they're gonna show why they are a backup quarterback with Drew Locke played great when he was in there. He was, I think that was the first sit rep we had with JSN and Drew Locke was that quarterback on all those big third downs and those red area touchdowns. So I think the team is gonna be confident running out of the tunnel with Drew Locke at the helm. And like you said, that defense getting beat up, especially after the week they had against Kansas City to show up and not only, it wasn't like Caleb just had a phenomenon. He had the best night of quarterback has had against the Seattle defense but they beat him up when they got in the red area. Whenever they wouldn't or needed to run the ball, they did and that's kind of where the Seahawks hang their hat. - The one thing that I think will be very interesting in this game is they got torched in the first game whenever Seahawks, it was a close game up to half and then Smith and Jeeboi I think had three touchdowns and the Seattle just ran away with it. First half of the season, the Cardinals were only blitzing at like 25%. Since that moment, since like week four, they're blitzing at like 42% and the defense has been so much better. - AJ, that's the trend of the league as well. Running the rock in and blitzing feels like blitzing is the new fat. - Yeah, try to get the ball out of the quarterback's hands. You know, like don't let him take those shots down field, we all know that and yeah, I don't know, it's all a thing. Like we know it's whatever your philosophy is. A lot of guys, I've heard, I've heard Peyton talk about it. He would love, he loved to get blitz because boom, he knows where his answers are all the time. He didn't like when they would rush or rush three, drop eight because you're sitting back and there's no real windows opening. So like whatever your philosophy is, but if you are going to blitz, like you got to get home. Like there's plenty of teams in place out there. Like where they do blitz, but if you don't get home, like you're screwed. Minju Mania, you know, he's not bad. Minju would definitely know what's happening on the other side of the field. Now will it be enough? We shall see, especially against the Seahawks team. Remember Drew Lock, week two against the Cardinals. He went 19 and 26 for 235 yards and three touchdowns. Shout out to field eights for pulling that up as quickly as they did. And Drew Lock and Shake too, called it my body guard. - Yeah, that's my body guard. - Drew Lock, Moxie through the roof. They were never gonna trade him for reasons like this, which is a part of the quarterback conversation as well around the league. Kirk Cousins getting traded. Everybody thinks it would be great. It's like, do you think they want to do that right now with other Raiders of playing and with Fernanda? You don't think they want Kirk still be a backup? Well, what if you're able to get some from? Jacobi Per set starts for the Arizona Cardinals. Signs of deal to be the Cardinals new quarterback. He gets pulled, Minju goes crazy. He gets benched immediately. Like he's getting traded out of town. It's like, well, you don't think they want another good quarterback behind him? Well, they got Carson Beck. It's like, do they know if Carson Beck's a guy? A lot of decisions to be made at that quarterback position, especially when injuries pop up out of nowhere. Well, I think the difference with the Jacobi thing is the fact that they made him the third. I think that's the biggest difference, right? Like whenever you look at Fernanda, if they were to say, okay, we're gonna go to Fernanda Mendoza and make Kirk Cousins a three, then, yeah, then he's straight. Then he's straightable, right? But I just think whenever you make that move and all of a sudden now, okay, we went to Minju and you make back the two and now Jacobi's a three, I do think that is on the table now. Okay, other news coming out of the quarterback departments. Brown's quarterback to Sean Watson. He's been placed in a concussion protocol. This happens on a Wednesday. You dig a check during the game, came back out. They said he was good Monday, Tuesday. It happening Wednesday, bit scary. I've had teammates that have reported concussion from a Sunday game on like a Thursday or Friday. And that means that things have been lingering and things have continued to happen when they don't normally happen. So obviously, Godspeed to the brain there for the Sean Watson, Shedor Sanders, who got in the game this past weekend, now gonna be the starter for the Cleveland Browns as they take on the New Orleans Saints favored by three down in New Orleans with Shedor at the helm here. So, I mean, Browns just lose to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Now, he got back up quarterback coming in when everybody was talking about how to Sean had been doing. Well, this slowed down the Munkin train that has been kind of taken over the Convo and the AFC North. We shall see. Other news around CJGJ has been released from the Buffalo Bills after he got suspended for spitting. He got brought in to the Buffalo Bills to bring in attitude to the defense. He certainly did that. They've now released him. Is that scary? What does that tell you about the Buffalo Bills debut? - Oh, no, that wouldn't scare me. If you're releasing a good football player, it means you feel confident about the other guys that can get on the field. Gino Stone, he made some plays last week against the Ravens. So yeah, that wouldn't scare me. - A Buffalo last night in some action. We're down 31-16 in the fourth quarter. Nine minutes left. Let's go ahead and eat. Jason Moro touched down the chance Moro. There's a chance. Those boys know each other pretty well. That gets it to 31-24. Jason Moro, sorry, that gets it to 31-24 after a two point conversion happens. And then boom, Jason Moro runs it in from 31-31. Buffalo kicker, Oliver Houghton in. - Wow. - Oh, no, Jason writes quarterbacks today. I'm got it wrong on the sheet. That's on us. Chance Moro, not his brother. It's actually a different last name. Jason Moro is quarterback. We apologize to all of them. - What a bit of cool story though. - Yeah, it's incredible. We apologize there. And nonetheless Buffalo, mental toughness in some action. And then you want to talk about mental toughness. Winnipeg Jets, they were down 4-0. 4-0. - What? - Yes. In the third to Montreal. Montreal scored the fourth in the third. Winnipeg would go on and go crazy all within a two and a half minute period and over time, Dylan Sandberg would score the game winner. So sports brought it last night. Shout to Jason Wright. This guy's unbelievable for Buffalo. - Out to former president of the commander. - No, but shout to him too. He's probably in the middle of something very important right now. So we're pulling for him. Shout to sports being so spectacular. Every single day we're incredibly lucky that we get a chance to chat about him. Be a friend to tell friends, I'm nice, might change their life. Big day with big shrugs. Break it down to big flays. He says, yeah. - Damn it. - Got it in there. - Fuckin' set it. - Yeah, big day. - Big shrugs. - No, I don't think so. - Yeah, you got it. - I got it in there, right? - Sure. - I heard it. I definitely promoted it, sure. - They put their other jackets on yesterday. - They did, yes, they did. - Oh, they did, once the fire came on. - Yeah, he okayed it, I think, and in wraps it. Give me that, I can put it back on. I looked at their graphics, and I know this is probably information you all know. It's big day with Peter Schreiger. - Yeah. - No, it's not. - Did you? - I haven't seen that. I saw a big day with big shrugs and big stuff. Three is all capitalized too. - This is me actually thinking that was the, this is one of those things. - No, no, no. - This is big. - It's never been with big shrugs, but we kind of just said it'd be better if it was. - So the song is big day. - You're with big shrugs breaking down all of the big plays. - That's good. - No, yeah, for sure. And I would guess if you did a straw poll of 100 people, 80 people would tell you it's big, big play with big shrugs. - No, big day. - Big day. - YouTube also says it's the Schreiger hour, so do we really know what's going on? - That's a podcast. - That's a different show. - The Schreiger hour. - Okay, it's big day with big shrugs. Should I, I mean, I saw the graphic. You know, 'cause Peter Schreiger sent a message, very kind of him, we appreciate shrugs. We actually kind of miss shrugs. - Yeah, big show. - Now that he has a show immediately following us, can't really stop by as much. I saw a graphic though, and I did a whole, wow, those was McKenzie. - Right. - I showed it to him. It's not big, she can't read yet. It's not big day with big shrugs. - It should be though, it just continually is a miss day and day out. And it's not too late. It's not too late to change the name of that. - No, it would even know if they did change. - No, but it's clearly, no. - People would know. - I mean, this is what I saw yesterday. - It wouldn't know. It's right there at the bottom. With Peter Schreiger. I was mind blown. - I married two weeks. - Shrugs is fucking six, nine. - People forget that. - He's huge. - I mean, it is a big day. - It's a big day with big shrugs. - And he breaks down. - All the big plays. - We'll get at that right next time. - We face time in right now and see if you get in before the-- - Oh, it's right. - He's a fucking-- - He's a former like that. - He's a professional. He's got that thing under lock and key or the shell. - Oh yeah. - He's about to do an open right on 30 seconds. - How that feels? We should start with your own face time. - Yeah, right. Big day with big shrugs has a mapped out opening that doesn't need to be adjusted 30 seconds on. - Yeah, it might be doing the intros. And also, we shouldn't be talking about openings. Our openings was black screen, the ESPN today. - Well, you got fucking EMP dropped on us before the show. - AJ tried to take us down. (gun firing)
It was impressive, you guys made it happen. - Bruce, it was, we didn't really make it. I mean, it was, it was pretty terrible television and we didn't end up in there and we sprinted over and we couldn't hear each other or see anything, but we did certainly exist in that moment, you know, and that's good. - Put something, it was on YouTube, like right off the bat. - And they were running commercials at the start. So it wasn't as mumbled. - Yeah, so it just looks like, man, these advertisers wanted really in at the top of the hour. - Exactly, that's what it was. - JJ, what wasn't happy that I forgot that we moved in to 110, did you hear about this whole thing? - I was, I was a little surprised 'cause I thought he was slated for 110 as well but I said, why not? - I forgot completely. As we were getting into my sacrifice. - I was like, all right, it's getting 20 minutes in when we told JJ, we'd be there. I forgot we moved to 110, hit the Bruce. Hey, hit up, JJ, just get him right after this. And Bruce looks at me with a face and he goes, okay, and then he calls him. And then we're just doing our thing, sacrifice for singing, bang, and Bruce goes, JJ's not necessarily thrilled about this whole double dip switch back to 1230 thing. I think he caught him off guard a little bit and I'm like, what's that? And then immediately, I'm like, fuck, I completely forgot we moved in to 110. Can you tell him that I completely forgot in the middle of the chaos that we moved in to 110 or whatever? Bruce's like, you got it. And then Bruce didn't tell him I forgot about it. So I felt obligated to tell him immediately upon jumping on this. - Bruce. - He's saying, Bruce got a job to do too. It's not just necessarily easy from this to be texted back there while he's punched back between computers. - Yeah, I was yelling out of a pole graphic up while that was all going on. - Fuck see. - He was in the gym. - He was quite the intimidating. - Yeah, he was working out. That's why he was saying that. - I need to go now. You said one turn. I need 75 minutes to fucking get this work on it. And one on 32 minutes for a warm up. - Yeah. We apologize, JJ. Chaos. - Yeah, what are you gonna do? - He was like this. - It's right there on that screen. Big day with Peter Shredger. I'm watching Heather Denich's there. - Me too. - It's great. - Jay Macs there. I mean, it's all over that thing. - Oh, Garofolage just came out from back behind a wall. - Not he looks cool. - Intro Jack. - Yeah, big interest. - You're watching him. - You mean like a magic trick or just, the intro to me came out as a guess. - It did kind of feel like, oh, looky here and he popped out from behind a wall and say, hey, how you doing? One right into a break. Oh, and Kyle Brant just got introduced out of the side wall too. - Sick jacket. - Yeah, they do that every day. - God, Lee, I never get to see any. - I know, I see it 'cause I have my monitors here so it's on there. - I never get to see any of this. That was. - Clean. - Thank you. - It's interesting, though, having you do play by play when I can't see it. It is, like makes me want to watch the show. - Well, it's a big day with Peter Schringer. - With Peter Schringer. - Take a break on the other side. - That's not the same ring. - We got top five offensive lines coming out of a week A to the NFL season. We also have good D from around the league. D, but how has D defense been? - Ah, pretty good. Pretty good. I do hate when somebody has a great performance once you get like a Monty Hooker and they don't get to win so I can't highlight them, but it's been some good defense around the league. - Yeah, taking out, you can't really take a parade. - I mean, hat trick is, a natural hat he is. - Pretty filthy. - Yeah. - Special off Joe Borough too. - But hey, it happens. - No Jeffrey Simmons either, so. - Nope. - It's crazy how that team looked first how the Colts looked. - Yeah, I mean. - Yeah, can't worry. Best day is a pro. - That's different. Bob Salah is a leader of men. Karin Stuykin can draw a touch down. All right, then it, you're a one. And I'm a stick with Stuykin guy. But it's tough when that happens and the guy comes out after the game like, we got frickin' out coach, they ran circles around us. - I mean, that's him doing a little kind of ability which we like him doing, but. - True. It was very evident that nobody really cared that they were Indianapolis Colts, you know? - No, still don't. Yeah, which is. - That's not true. - So many games left. - We'll see him later. - He's maddening someone that's here. - How many people show up on that? - We'll see you don't on, let's say. - Out of good, these are your funds. - Oh, nice, okay. - I don't give a fuck, man. I don't give a damn. - Indianapolis does. That place. - I ain't Quentin actually liked being a Colt. Like Quentin allegedly tough decision, tough conversation telling me he's getting traded. The Forest Buckner, unbelievable. We were very grateful for him. Happy we're letting him go have success somewhere. He said he thanked God. - He couldn't wait to get out of here. - Dropped his knees. - Right away. - Dropped his knees and thanked the heavens. - Then he got the rest of the guy still playing out there. It's like, we don't give a fuck about this team. What are we talking about? - And quite frankly, right now, how could you? - 'Cause you're a professional. And this place has been very good to you. And it's paid a lot of people on that fucking roster who haven't won a lot of things. - Booking their trips to Cabo already, right? - Double A is gonna get the boys going. - I love double A. I'm happy we paid it. I'm like thankful we paid him and kept him around. So at least the next whatever iteration of the Colts are. At least we have somebody who seemingly cares a little bit. But God, Lee, that was tough to watch, bro. That we gave a fuck. They started thinking about like the community. Like, is the community gonna take a big hit once all these guys are here? It's like, I don't know. I don't know. I know Pete Manning is a children's hospital here. I mean. - Dan Jones played my softball game. - Yeah. - We loved that was the first time that it's happened in eight years. - Years. - So Dan Jones, I like that. - The budget Colts did actually. - Yeah, they were there. - They were represented. - We lost that game. But. - We have lost it. - We meet in the community, guys. - Ash and Dool and Ken catch a pop up. - Of course pop up. - This is how you're having a lot of fun. - Fuck boys, I heard Franklin. Like all these guys are big in the community. - Kenny Moore. He decided just not to play anymore. Where's he at now? - Philly. - But I don't want to play, dude. If he's gonna be it, I don't want to do it. Like, are you gonna sign with another team? - I don't know. I gotta really fucking assess some things. And then he goes and play. It's like, he was on a Walter Payton. - Yeah. - Everybody but double A go. - Dan, Katie Curry. - Good player. - I like her. He's from City though. He'll send for the city at least. Just show a little bit of care, like. Joe Milton starting for the Eagle Sunday. I just can't do the wire. - Really? - Yeah. - That's exciting. - It's kinda sweet. - You can't do it. - You can't do the same play. - legit. - Mike Chappell will definitely talk about Joe Milton. A big name starter. Cannot wait to watch him. He's an incredible time. Mike Chappell has been covering the Annapolis Colts forever. I think he's okay. Happy anniversary times two. The Colts cornerback sauce gardener. November 4th, he was traded from Jets Colts and composed his girlfriend on flight to Indy. She said yes. - That was a good time. That was a good days. - Nice. - Happy anniversary guys. What a fucking asshole, Mike. (laughing) - Now, what do you celebrate? - What do you mean? - Sauce Garden is a great player. Hopefully we keep him around and hopefully he's healthy and able to play. But I don't know if he wants to play for a Colts either. I don't know anybody that really. Grover Stewart, people are talking about Gilbert and Grov. Grov might be the only guy cares about the bad damn thing. - He's really good. - I want to play for the Colts. - What's today? You missed it. - Who's gonna want a coach for the Colts day? - I want to do that too. - Riley Leonard loves the Colts. - Okay, what position do you want him to play? Quarterback? - H back. - Okay, I'll do that. I'm down with that. Andy Richardson got in there in fourth quarter. It at least looked like he could. Even if he doesn't have a clue what the plays are, which I don't, I genuinely don't know. I don't know at this point what is and what isn't. He can at least get in and run for his life and we can maybe watch them. They ain't got fucking killed by the jack. I mean, just. - Boatwraith. - What are the Cowboys gonna do this weekend in Lucasol? - They stink too. - Think about the intros. People are getting intros out to be getting in there. It's gonna be running out there. Like, get me out of here. Maybe what if they, what if they protest getting announced as starters for the team? - Got nine games left. There's a lot of football left. - Can be a rockest environment, you think? - Just down. - Yeah, dude. - Hey, sir. - I'll get a lot of questions from a lot of people. Ask me if I'm going to that thing. It's like, if we're not going, we definitely need to fill that thing. It looks bad. We're not sure if it's empty. You know what, a lot of them. - I'll be there. I want to see you CD and pickings and deck. Caleb dance. - Let's get to a break, please. - Hey, he's out. He got bounced off the turf. Like, he popped up. - He got up. - He popped up. - He's a tough son of a bitch. So what's your impression? - Protocol, he's out. - No, he's not. - Yes he is. - What? - He's not going to be playing. It sounds like a thing. - Don't want to watch joy for June. - I get it. - Joy for June, great player. - Yeah. - Really good. They got to hook her down there, too. - Maligua, yeah, first one. - There you go. - He was a cult. - You'd know. - I think it's her break. Me a friend told her it's something nice in my championship. - I think it's her kid. - Take. - Fight. - Fight. >> What happened? >> Well, is that the best photo we've ever seen of AQ Shipley, where he was throwing that donk face there? But also, what should AQ do today? With the football with the tosses, not a lot of success. I mean, like, embarrassing program, family, himself, the Super Bowl, even because he has won a Super Bowl when we say that with him throwing a football. So I said, maybe shoot a basketball, you know, because he's western Pennsylvania Inner Scholastic Athletic.
a league, Hall of Fame basketball player from high school, maybe we do a free throw and he says, no, I will get back to football. I want to make one and I appreciate that. But I like people winning last week for the first time, long time between you and Chuck. Are you certain that you're going to be able to make a throw? - Yeah, I've changed my mindset. Aim small and miss small, we're going to make it today. - All right, 20 people, $500. - Right now to make it, yeah. - Go, go, go, don't think about it. - Don't think that, 20 people, $500. - Take it up and chuck it. - Aim small and miss small. - The archer. - To hit. - Oh my God. - What are you doing? - Okay. - Okay, I see, I get it. - Hold on, hold on. - That was it? - That was it. It was just a little high, right? - Go on, go on. - Wait, wait till this one. - All right, thank you. - All right, you're thinking. - Real quick, how many people should win, you think? After what you just did. - 1,000. - 25 people. (laughing) - You might have been hustling us a little bit. All right, 30 people, $500. All you can do is make that throw right now. Thank you, Shipley. - At a moving, ha ha ha. - Yeah. - Okay, that was it. Just a little left and short. - All right, one more. - No, no, no, we'll go to the end. We'll go to the end. You got those out of the way. You've already embarrassed yourself. - That was the warm-up. - Should've got a basketball, I think. - You need to snap it to yourself. It's a good move, actually. - Yeah, that's what you need to do. You need to snap all through legs, grab with other hand, then pick it up, yeah. - You have the dexterity and the flexibility to be able to do that. I just saw you just kind of wipe with both sides there with both hands. What would it look like? It'd be a left hand, it'd snap. - Left hand snap, come through. - Grab. - Just do it. Yeah, they turn around. - Is that what you're doing? - I can't see, can you get up and do it? - Yeah, what would it look like? - Have you ever done this to yourself? Have you ever your snapped yourself? - You got to do a cadence to yourself. - Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, you should've done it. No, it's waited too long. - Oh, I wouldn't have got it. - All right, we're back in a better momentum towards maybe a positive at the end of the show. I like you got those three out of the way. If you would like to go to basketball, we'd all be okay with it because it is NBA season and you're a pretty good shooter. Okay, you're a pretty good shot. - We already told Shoms, we don't care. It's football season. - We did tell Shoms that. Shoms didn't necessarily love that. I think Adam Silver also. We told him that as well as we were talking about the Christmas games. - Lot of games tonight. - But hey, a lot of good basketball. - Yeah, yesterday off. - Yeah, everybody go vote. Obviously, can't be playing. If you need to get out and vote, which they certainly did and now NBA is back. I will say the fat boys played better than they had played in a long time, whenever it comes to 33 last week. - That's pretty bon. I'm proud of you guys. - Yeah, we put together some pretty good defense. We're getting way better on defensive glass. I mean, we started to make some shots. I think I made three in a row. D-Bone, nice little ham and egg game. Yeah, we're doing four in a row at one point. And then had the fifth. - For those that don't know, 33 is a game of the Thunderdom also of the previous office. Teams of two taking on two others. The fat boys have been together. AQ Shipley and D-Bone for a long time. It used to be D-Bone or bone and butt. - Yeah, bone and butt. - Yeah, that was a U-Ball. We dominated. - You guys were good to go. - Yeah, that was D-Bone and Darius Butler. They were called bone and butt there for a while. - D-Block. - A D-Block was the next name after there was some controversy over bone and butts team. - A bone and butt? - Yeah. - A bone and butt and do. - A bone and butt. - A lot of games around here. 33 has remained. 33 has survived multiple offices, multiple layoffs, and multiple different eras. And I think we have our best skill. Right now, I think the league has its most parity at this exact moment. So when the show goes down, usually you'll see four people shooting, two people outside, two people underneath. If you make a three, consecutive both players from the same team are shooting threes, it's where two points. If you get a tip in, it's worth one underneath. If one person from your team hits it from all five spots, you get a bonus spot. And then if one of you make it from that spot, you get another bonus spot. Then if you make another bonus spot, you're trying to get to 33. It's an easy game, fun game. - Oh yeah. - A little bit of mobility, but not too much to hurt yourself. And we got a comparity and a league rating. - Oh yeah. - Conor and Darius are an incredible team. - They are, man. You got a, even a f*ck you shot. You guys have a chance right now. - Yeah, we might be back. - You were nine for ten last time we played. - Yeah, me and Foxy might be back, AJ. It is, ever since I took that trip to Alabama, Alabama basketball facility, where they had the little lasers on the wall. And it was, you know, hey, here's the proper arc that you're supposed to have. They'll give you that left, right, depth, and everything. I feel like I was learning by watching those things. Last night I actually put together a 13 leg parlay. - 13, what was the odds on that? - Plus 10,000. - Had to be. - No, minus 122, actually. - Yeah. - She was alright, what was that? - Yeah, 13 Legger thought I had it. One team, South Dakota State broke my heart. They beat Kansas State. All the other super duper odds on favorites. I was taking minus 6,000, minus 24 hundreds. I put 13 of them together. And I thought, college hoops, you got big school that's good that has invested a lot of money in the roster. Take it on somebody that I've never heard of who are at least double digit underdogs. South Dakota State, I think 11 and a half point dogs last night. They break my heart and the 13 leg parlay that hit 12 of them. And the good for the Jackrabbits, go big, go blue. - Go Jacks. - They kind of ruined what I had going on, but not a bad idea. It does take a lot of legs. - No, I think that is a bad idea. I didn't think that was possible. - What, depending on who legs, minus 122. - You're talking about banking on 13 different groups of young men coming together and being able to do something that they say they are. This is no spread. - Game one. - Just strictly my life. - You were 12-13. - I mean, so maybe that was right, you know, maybe-- - A high clip, over 90% accuracy, right? - I was watching, I think, come together. - I'm like, this is it. This is what we do every college basketball night. We just take the super duper favorites and we monoline that thing and we just got to keep adding. The one team we had to take that was a little bit closer, a little shorter odds. I think it was still minus 500 maybe. It was Duques. - Yeah, Duques has me, Duques. - And they got the job done for us. - Okay. - Tone was being super negative. Tone was being super negative. Don't do that. Don't do that. I don't want Duques to be a part of this. If I'm a part of this, they're losing it. How about that? And I'm like, no, we got faith in Duques. They get a big win. They might make the dance this year, Tone. I think you should be excited about what happened last night. - You know, I struggled with that type of pressure on me. - You weren't playing. - That doesn't matter. That literally doesn't matter. If it was 12 out of 13, the Duques were lost. You don't think I would have heard about this morning? - Oh yeah, I do. - You want to hit his five pillars, you know that? - Yeah, he's gambling record. - God, faith, family, gambling record, and don't put me in bad situation. - In football. God, faith, family, your gambling record, in football. - In football, yeah, you miss football there. - Correct. - That was part of the gambling record. - Faith. - Also part of the God part. - Well, it depends on the day, to be honest with you. - Tony. - No, I think faith in God kind of. - Well, it depends on what you believe in. And I change day by day. - Okay. - That's our favorite chameleon. - Laser job. That's cone dicks. - All right, let's get better, let's get smarter. Let's go ahead and judge and rank some folks. The big boys need to get celebrated every single week and we try to do as such. Laser job is time to go in the trenches with AQ Shipley for our top five, top five. Top five performing offensive lines coming out of week eight. Wow, number five. They pounded the Colts, seemingly offensive line. Great, the Jacksonville Jaguar is sitting five and two with the top five O line. Why so, AQ? - Yeah, I love this group. I really do love this group. I talked about it, I think last week about a manual pregnant on the rookie out of Oregon. He is so powerful, handsy on the inside. Love him, shipyard, of course. And then you got the right side. We're gonna get two combo blocks. But let's look at the Titan, watch him go out. This is an RPO. We're also gonna get a front side insert on the wide receiver right here. Watch what it does to the safety. 'Cause you get the blitz. Now that safety goes out, you get the other guy over here. He goes out, opens up the middle. You get combo block, combo block. We're not looking at big gaping goals. We're looking at a little teeny winy gaping hole right up the middle. And Chris Rodriguez, Jr. finds it and finds his way and hits his head on the goal post. - Hey, that shipyard football, just teeny winy. That is, that shipyard. - Is that left tackle always have a split like that? That wide? - Yeah, that's it. - Well, so they have the insert with the receiver. So, yeah, that is a little bit of a tell yet. But again, they don't know that. They don't know that they're just not gonna run the ball right there, right? So, you have no idea that that receiver is gonna insert on there. But I love this play. If you go back to the beginning one more time, Foxy, watch the tight end on the right. That's the key. Watch him go out on his RP and it takes that DB out of there. I love that 'cause now if that defensive end crashes, guess we're Trevor's throwing the ball to that guy. - So, this is Liam Cohen drawing this up or is there a run game coordinator that's doing that? How do we feel about Liam Cohen at this point? Because it feels like he's an incredible leader. Those locker rooms are always late. They're a dominant football team. Trevor Lawrence is playing the best football that we've seen from Trevor Lawrence. Is he scheming and drawing? What should we think about Liam Cohen? - Absolutely, love Liam Cohen. I think he is the mastermind behind it all. And again, listen, it comes from McVeigh. It comes from that world. And you know, listen, anytime you come from McVeigh's world, it's funny how much those guys lean into everything that LA does. They watch all of the different things that McVeigh does. He literally comes in on Monday and watches the Rams game before he watches his own game. That's literally what he does. See what they're doing. Hey, is it working? Yeah, okay, cool. We're gonna put some of that stuff in. - Yeah, a copycat league. That is since the beginning of time. I don't love how great the Jags are in the AFC South, but they certainly are. And I don't think they've been home much either. I don't know. Yeah, they're just now getting a chance. - They played home in this one and then outside of that, it'll be six of seven that have been on the road because two of those home games are in London. - Yeah, so it's not easy to operate like that. Everybody talks about, I wanna maintain a schedule. I wanna maintain the schedule. Jags have had to go to Europe a couple of times. They gotta go on the road, figure it out, play ball. They have Liam Cohen doing a great job. - I'll give one more little prompt to your West Virginia Mountaineer. Why my limb right there? Right guard, he filled in for Ezra Cleveland. But again, the Mountaineers are producing some linemen in the league. - Yeah, that's right. We got big bodies who wanna go and do bad things to people. Hate that they're not on the codes. Love that the Jags have it figured out. That fan base has been starving for some time. Feels real, especially if we're in the top five O lines one week. Let's go to number four team. How about the Buffalo Bill? - That'll be good. Congratulations to the
The bills getting on here. They were without Spencer Brown this week, but again, they're good every single week, and when you watch them, they play so well as a unit. This was one of my favorite plays of the week. If you watch us, we're gonna send the motion right there. So we got everything going left. Now watch, we're gonna highlight every single guy, both tight ends to the right, then their entire offensive line from right to left. Everything is going left, right? All your eyes, all the deceptions going left, but we're gonna get this cut back by James Cook, and now watch this. I paused it right here for a reason. Highlight on James Cook, you got two unblocked eyes? Nope, get north and south, and get a 15-yard game. - Unbelievable cut by the back. - Hey, James, hey, make the play. - Look at, I mean, two unblocked guys. That's the thing that makes the D-coordinate crazy, but good, I mean, this cut is cool. You got to come, if you're the first defender off the edge, you got to come tight off the guy's hip, but man, like that is, that's the next level cut right there. - James Cook, special, special, special, special, Josh Allen, special, special, special. Tight ends can catch the ball, special, special. It's only gonna be about the defense, right? And that's a big question, can the defense keep up with everything this offense does? Love hearing that they're the number 40 line again. - Yeah, their offense line's really good, and again, like I said, James Cook is so good, he knows that when he has two guys front side, you get the three-tech and the five-tech, this is cutting back immediately. So he knows, he's setting that up for a cut back immediately, and then he sees the two. His ability to put that right foot in the ground, and get north and south again, off the two tight ends block was unbelievable, I had to put this play. - Monday night football, Buffalo Bills, traveling to Minnesota, we'll have a field pass on ESPN2 cannot wait to be there for this one and watch this team do their thing. Number three, had some good news, come out from their social media. Detroit line, it's offensive line. - Yeah, that's to them. - Yeah, really like this group, obviously, it always starts with Penn A Soul, but what they did in this game against the Minnesota Vikings with both tight ends, they utilized it in the past game, they also utilized it in the run game. But as we see, see, one, two, you always leave two when you run the counter. So whenever you pull the guard or the both tight ends, whenever you're gonna pull both tight ends right now, that's who they're pulling for. You get the kick out on the first guy, and you get the wrapper for the second guy. Penn A Soul is gonna go out right there. Now you open it up for the first pull or boom, there's the kick out by Brock Wright, and then Laporta comes behind it, there it is, and then look what Gibbs does. In the open space, get him out in space, boom, put the brakes on. Yep, find a way to get in there. - Gosh, she's low. - Downfield blocking. - So you're saying that was set up for it to be very tight up the gut and then cut that thing back left once you clear first line. - Yeah, you're gonna see another counter coming up here by another team coming up. But again, whenever you have that, you always leave two guys. End man on the line of scrimmage, and then the first stack back for AJ, seeing this come a million times, right? Whether it's the guard in the tight end or both tight ends, and they're utilizing both because they married it up with the past game this week. And again, I know it's talked about a lot. Hey, how did they handle Flores? It was because they kept putting the two tight ends in the back field for the past game. So how do you marry it up with the run game? Do the same stuff and have this come off the run game. - See inside toss, too. We talked about with the Niners before where they're throwing the toss, like you said, and it gets everyone thinking he's going way outside, yeah. - Jared Goff be looking in the lock. - Can Jameer Gibbs survive? - So far, so good. - 464 touches, he's on pace four. The record, 495 or something like that, he would be the second most all the time. 495 came from a guy in like 1920 or something. I have every Sam Wouter maybe. - 1983. - There, it was named Sam Wouter. - Something like that. - That sounds right. - He can't say he's legend. - He had 415 rushes, I think. - I believe so, he had, maybe not. I remember he had like 80 some receptions as well, which was kind of surprising. - But 464 he's on pace four. Last week he was up to 470. Now it's at 464. If he was to do that, he'd surpass Larry Johnson, who I think Larry Johnson in 2006 maybe had like 430 times. It would be an absurd number with how much? - To your point Pat, they finally got the back up, running back, getting some reps. And he actually had a great game. So maybe we'll see more of that just to give him's healthy for the rest of the season, we'll see. - But I think that's why the offense player, the year stuff is for him 'cause it's like he is. You know, it's not that Jackson Smith and Jigba is not. I mean, Jackson Smith and Jigba was a number 36% before. Monday night, he was 30% off. - He was. - He was. - If you're not 2011, that offense stinks. - Sam Darnord had 94 passchards in the first half, 92 of them were Jackson Smith and Jigba. It's like, what an absolute beast, a lot of great players, including Jemeer Gibbs, congrats on the Detroit Lions offense of the line making top five. And also congrats to, there we go. Still out. - Number two offense of the line in the NFL. I love it. You said Zach Frazier's the best center in the league. The rest of the boys not too shabby either. - He's the best center in the league. And this has been the best offensive line in the league. Since they made the switch on the right side in week three. But again, I got three clips here. And the reason why I got three clips is because they ran it over and over and over against the Cleveland Browns. But listen, when you come in on Wednesday, they're gonna say, okay, is this a penetrating front or is this a reading front? Cleveland Browns, known penetrating front. How do you attack a penetrating front? You trap the shit out of them, right? So we're gonna show Mason McCormick here. And then we're gonna show the right side, right? Brock Hoffman and Big Macs. Watch some fake aduce on the right side. So they're gonna fake the do's. And then they're gonna handle the two linebacker spots. You get the trap, quick trap. There comes Mason McCormick. And you get the quick hit or up the middle, back block by Frazier rides him up the field. And there goes Warren, right? So you use their aggressiveness against them. Bingo, that's exactly right. It's just like, how do you handle a past rush? Oh, we're gonna draw and screen them to death. How do you handle penetrators in the run game? You trap the shit out of them. Mike McCarthy knew this. Obviously, the offense aligned knew this. So guess what, we're gonna do it again. Let's show the right side again. We're gonna fake the do's. And they're gonna handle the two linebackers off the ball. We're gonna pull the backside guard. We're gonna block the center back. We're gonna hand it off. And boom, those two guys that bluffed the do's, they go get the two linebacker spots, get good position at the second level. There goes Warren again. Just take advantage of it. Everybody does, or not everybody's capable of doing it. What they're doing, not easy, obviously. No, it's not easy. But again, whenever, and it's funny as this game went on, they're still, your job is to penetrate. But again, to go forward, then put the brakes on and then handle that quick hitter up the middle. They can't do it. Here we go again, but now we gotta go in the other way. So we got the left side, fake in the do's. We got Fatawn and we got Mason McCormack. They're gonna do the fake do's. They're gonna climb. They're gonna handle two spots at the second level. Here comes Brock Hoffman. You get the kick out block right there and you get the quick hitter up the middle. No, look at the second level. Obviously, that's what we keep talking about. They have to do such a good job at the second level of getting inside. So that allows them to hit it up the middle. Wow. First quarter runs too. Kind of sets everything up for the wrestling game or no. So I think the second play was in the third quarter, but yeah, it happened all game long. But again, when they run in the first quarter, it does set it up. But again, now this defense can make adjustments, but AJ, you can kind of hit on this. You played in the three-four scheme where those guys are readers under defense three-four. Those guys are tough to trap those teams. Very tough to trap those teams. But when, especially when you hit the play on third down, now those guys are jet it up. It's third and third team jet it up. Three techniques, two, three techniques, super wide. The middle's wide open. The odds of you completing a third and third team is slim to none. Why not just call a quick trap and you still pick up the first time? AJ, Mike McCarthy says, let me use what you do against your pal and executes perfectly in a dominating fashion. Yeah, that's what a great play call was doing. If you see like Mason Graham right there like, if you're aggressive and you're getting up the field and all of a sudden you got to reel it. You got to reach trap almost at the snap or pre snap. He's got to dive down and long arm that, they call like a wrong arm and I should say, where he dives down and he spills that puller. So running back can't like just go straight downhill. You got to make him reset his feet and pops and your other rest of your defense has time, I guess, to get in their gap because once you get him trapped like that, it was good guy. It's a missile right down the middle of the defense. It's crazy how fast all that happens. Yeah, yeah. Oh, I'm getting doos nope. I'm actually getting chip nope. I'm getting, there's in it's over. And they're already out to gate. Incredible work by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Tony, how do you feel about this? Sign, fundamental, ask, beaten, football. It's unbelievable. It's so awesome to watch. And that third and 13, you see the play call come in and Aaron kind of like shakes his head 'cause he's pissed that it's, you could tell a draw is coming and then it goes for 50 and it's kind of like, you don't expect those things to work like that and they are right now because the old line's playing so well, Jaylen Warren leads the league. Seven yards per touch. He's been unbelievable and then on the other side of the ball, they're stopping the run too. It's a great time. Yeah, we just showed a highlight there of that third and 13 you were talking about. Look, I mean dudes are in the frame 50 yards down the field. And it's the entire offensive line. That's the biggest thing that I was noticing. All five offensive linemen are in the frame at the end of this clip right now. Chase the ball. And DK. There was a long run in the game where was it Warren or Dotto? I think it was Dotto, Dotto fumbled. And Fa Tano recovered the fumble like 20 yards down the field. So yeah, then getting down the field too is huge. Hey, Mike McCarthy wins games. He's just not some big dumb fat dipshit. Like everyone thought he was. What's that all about? AJ, why do people think that? Is that what everyone thought? I was not aware that for a while there. I believe everyone did think that. Dude, when he got hired to the Steelers, there was not a lot of public sentiment that was good. We were, I mean, there's a week run. There's a week run to be fired in Dallas forever. Yeah, in Dallas. In 12 and four every year. In Dallas, they couldn't wait to move on. Remember, defense couldn't get a stop. Still a thing. Kelly Moe. Still a thing. Kelly Moe went to run up scoreboard. I get it. We got more time possession because our defense can't do our thing. But it felt like Mike always wins. And he did get run out of Dallas. And then when he got hired in Pittsburgh, it was like, what? A lot of public sentiment was super negative about it. Oh, great. And then his first press conference, one over some Yensers. But it didn't win ever like the media. There were still media people. They're like stupid, stale. Why would you do this? You're going to get more of the same. It's like it feels like Mike McCarthy might be an OK coach. It gets talked about all the time. He has an almost identical record to Sean Payton. They've both won one Super Bowl. And Sean Payton's one of the greatest coaches of a generation. And McCarthy has talked about the way he's talked about. So big, fat, sloppy guy. I don't like that. We don't like that. It's not fair. Age, too. It feels like especially when it comes to people in the media, at least, looking-- like local people in Pittsburgh who report on the Steelers. If you hire an older guy, it's not as common now. Like, typically-- Steelers never.
did either. Yeah, Steelers, you know, Cara was young and Talham was young. So just recent memory, big Mike being in his, you know, late 50s, 60s. It's one of those things where people are just like, what are they doing here? This is a band-aid anyways. But if you get a guy for eight years who's really good as a head coach, that's unbelievable. We will reiterate the fact that Mike McCarthy working with us was completely different than how I thought it was going to be. Just vastly different. I've literally met 200 Mike McCarthy's. I thought in my life, in Pittsburgh, same exact situation, love ball the way they talk, when they look, I thought I knew exactly when it was coming. Yeah, right. He was vastly different than I could have ever expected. The amount of preparation, the amount of want, the amount of accountability, everything. Attention to detail that he had for us every single week. It was very evident and very easy to see why he has had success. And we were maybe asked about that by a couple of people and it's like, I was mind blown that this is what Coach McCarthy is versus what I expected from outside looking in. Wins games. And the boys, I think love him. I think all the things that the media says about him that he's like, not great. I think the boys all view it as like endearing almost. I look at fucking big Mike over here. He's gonna come in here, he's gonna speak the way he speaks. He's gonna have a smile, he's gonna smash a wall. Think about if he smashed that wall, Mellon. Now that we know him, just what all one is, how do you get the boys going, you know? I'd fucking get him wrong. I appreciate Mike McCarthy a lot. We were very lucky to get to work with him. And I liked it, he's winning for the Steelers. Can you win a Super Bowl, though? Do you want to find out? Can you win a Super Bowl? Well, he can run the football and they can stop the battle. Stop the battle. Hey, Seth, they can keep doing that. Against Cleveland Brown's offense, which we thought was good. Boswell will make kicks, right? Oh, yeah, yeah. Right, Tom? Yes. I think he's had one bad half, maybe a missed a couple kicks. So everybody starts thinking his boss. Yeah, right, Boswell, make the kicks. Okay, maybe the Steelers back in the conversation, especially if they're top five. Now, let's celebrate the hell out of the top offense of line coming out a week eight of the NFL season. Zero completions for this team. We're winning if you win. Congrats to the Tampa Bay, Buccaneer offense of line. I mean, how can I not put them on? This is literally the definition of putting the game on your offensive lines back. And AJ just talked about how do you defeat the Polar? Here's a great compliment to a trap play. This is the counter. We're going to pull the backside garden. Look, we got two tight ends to the right. Kade on and check out pain dorm on the right. He's going to sell like they're running right. He's going to cut the far defensive end. Then we're getting the pulling guard. He's going to go across the line of scrimmage. He's going to trap out, but Tristan Werves. He gets it all started. Great seal block. And then they do get the wrong arm, AJ, but Austin goes around and gets the big block as the second Polar. And then you get Buccaneer in space. How good is that? Terrible weather, terrible field to be able to orchestrate all of that in real time, unbelievable work. And is this, do they run this off of the, like, is there a variety of runs or do the Falcons know exactly what they're getting every single day? They ran counter probably 17 to 20 times in this game. This exact play where they pull the backside garden. You have a second Polar multiple ways to dress it up with the formation. But again, this play just kept coming. You get Tristan Werves on a down block where the right tackle on a down block guard pulls. Second Polar comes around. You're wrapping for two and beating the shit out of people for an entire game. Yeah, old school football. The team of Bay Russian Air. One offense, a line coming out of week A to the NFL season, congrats to Steelers, Lions, Bills and the Jacksonville Jaguars. You know what they say? Wrong game travels. That's right. All these teams have a chance. Buffalo Beals even have a, go ahead. Yeah, I gotta say one more thing about the Buccaneers. Back to back weeks, they, they play the Cowboys. The Cowboys are forced to hire Mike Patton. They play the Carolina Panthers. They fire their defensive coordinator. Like back to back weeks, the way they're running the football. And then obviously what they just did to the Falcons. Maybe the Falcons are looking at us in an anomaly. But we could probably bet there's somebody getting cut or getting fired based on that performance as well. Buccaneers come to town on defense side, you better. Falcons left the country after it. Head on a swivel. Yes, they did Madrid. Hola. All right, hey, hey. I keep throwing a damn ball. I mean, you think after like the second or third one. They're all in the first half, too, I think, right? They're all playing Washington. Why does he look like he's never thrown a wet football? It's from Tampa, too. What the fuck's going on? Did you see that rain? I mean, that I did, but it's not the first time that's happened in an NFL game. And guys usually, I mean, some of those balls usually do a good job. Somebody drive balls to every play. It looked like it was a bit of a drencher out there. Oh, it's right in sideways. I mean, it was crazy. But Anzaloni picks up a couple of picks. He knows where everything's at. And Penox is just going to bury the ball here. I think you just move along. You bury the ball and you just go ahead. Yeah, that's tough stuff. You have four picks. There was one, two or pits was just wide open running down the sideline. He threw it like 40 yards over his head on a foul. It was awesome. On that note, ladies and gentlemen, it's time to announce the week eight NFL players of the week. On the NFC side, defense, congrats. Anzaloni. They shut out the Falcons. Anzaloni has two picks, four in total. What a win for the Tampa Bay Russian ears. Tyler Algier for Arizona, going crazy. Saw him in the end zone. A bunch good for him. Good for the Cardinals. Jack Fox, Punner for Detroit. Huge part of the win over the Vikings as they suffer their first loss. Dylan Labe, the returner for the Las Vegas Raiders. He took a kickoff 95 yards in the house. It looked like he was fascinated by Las Vegas. I've seen some photos of this guy off the field. Feels like it's a little bit of a legend here. This fella, I hope he continues. Look at his neck. Are we serious? That's amazing. Yeah, we love this guy. And if you get full speed on kickoff returns, you're OK with everything and he certainly has capability of doing that. Lane there, safety for Jacksonville. They dominated the Indianapolis Colts, congrats to him. And then T Higgins for the Cincinnati Bengals. As Cincinnati goes for 500 yards to the sky and multiple touchdowns in a huge win. Joey Burrow, absolute study. Go ahead, Debak. No, I said Lane, we'll probably see him pretty soon here. Oh, that's great news in everything D.B. Good D. We'll certainly talk about that. The Arizona Cardinals are finalizing a trade to send Jacobi Berset to the Baltimore Ravens. Per rap sheet and Chef Dio is expected to be completed this weekend. The Ravens lost quarterback Lamar Jackson. And Snoop Huntly is getting surgery on his turf toe. Joe Fignano with a busted up ankle was looking to start for the Baltimore Ravens. Now Jacobi Berset is coming to town. He is a guy who can operate any offense. He's an incredible leader. Jesse Mentors in his first year. I mentioned this on Monday Night Countdown. Like, Harbaz in his first year. James Winston being a veteran quarterback in that room. Kind of driving and motivating and everything. I think that's a huge deal as you're trying to put your culture in first year head coach. Jacobi Berset, leader, definitely a leader. Vocal leader will do everything that he could possibly do to make the team better. And Jesse Mentor, first year head coach over there now has another, you know, professional in the building, especially at the position in which you would need it most. I like to move. AQ, you celebrate it a little bit. Jacobi Berset gets deemed third quarterback for the Arizona Cardinals as Minchumania runs Wild Carson Beck back up. You've seen more Jacobi over the years than any of us. Your thoughts on him heading to Baltimore? Yeah, I think this is a great move. And I think Jacobi, when he has a good offensive line in front of him, he can deliver the ball on time. He can run in a fish and offense. He can do all the things. I think the move in Arizona makes sense. They're down to their fourth right guard. They lost their starting left tackle for the year. He's just not very mobile. And so whenever you get the pressure that you've been getting in Arizona, it makes sense to make the move to Minchum. But Jacobi's a good, smart football player. And he can run this offense and probably step in pretty quickly. Great leader. I can't stress that enough. When he was an Indianapolis behind Andrew Luck, I believe the word is like, hey, Jacobi's the one that's kind of doing all of the talking from that particular room. Not that Andrew Luck wasn't a leader. But Jacobi's very kind. He's a par sales guy. Comes up through a car sales. Obviously Bella checked as well. He's been a part of every offensive system. When he was playing for the Colts, I was pushed for in win MVP. Then he got hurt. He's been around a long time. Congrats to Jacobi, getting an opportunity now with Baltimore. Go, baby, you should go now. Great for him. Now, all eyes are on Carson One's experience of Minnesota. It appears. Murray has a hamstring. So Carson One's is going to give it a go out there. Kevin O'Connell needs it. The defense can win a Super Bowl. Everybody knows that. Vikings experience their first loss this past weekend. Will that be two in a row? Prime time with Buffalo Bills coming to town. We shall see. I don't-- that AFC North is tough. Very. And AFC North is really good at football. Big games this weekend, too. Packers are coming to England. That'll be a big one. And then the Lamar Jackson story. I mean, people expecting him to leave Baltimore. It's like, I think they got his contract. I don't want a lot of money. A lot of money. It's like a 70 number, I think, or something, where we talk about dead cap and everything like that. It is a-- And a first-year head coach. Yeah, exactly. Lamar Jackson, I don't know. We do this every other year with Lamar. It feels like, remember with Harbaugh a couple of years ago, too, it was like Harbaugh had to come on and say, hey, Lamar Jackson is 200% the quarterback of the Baltimore Ravens. It feels like this stuff happens. And then inevitably Lamar, who doesn't have an agent, kind of does it himself. Maybe this is part of that kind of negotiation factor that he's mastered. But it'd be crazy if he was on the move. Man, the Ravens look so good week one against courts. And he looks so good. And then that huge win down in Brazil, thought there was a chance. We'll see what Jacobi percent's able to do for the Baltimore Ravens. First quarterback traded here before the trade deadline on November 10th. What's going to happen with Josh Dons? Jonathan Taylor. Mm-hmm. Bye-bye. Yeah, but you don't want to keep these guys. Good Josh. He makes round pick. He makes round pick. It's trade everybody. Seven-throw-and-peak. trade everybody. There's a lot of you. Good luck out there, everybody. Mm-hmm. [CLAPPING]
You know what? Let's look at it to the eyes of the buyers. Let's look through the eyes of the fans that are getting Josh Downs on their team. He's gone to the table on their team. And Jeffrey Simmons just came to town and we became the Super Bowl contender immediately. Let's talk about the good, not just the bad here in Indianapolis. Good clapping. Good rhythm boys. I like how fast you went there. It's got a quake in it out there. Good slapping around. Good rhythm. What you guys were doing? I appreciate that. Miami star, Malachi Tony dealing with an ankle status for Saturday's game against Notre Dame is uncertain sources telling Pete Tham on Maxwell's and Malachi Tony. One of the odds on favorites. So when the Heisman is expected to press an attempt to play given the magnitude. To do the game. Do we know Malachi Tony was banged up? Don't be. Do we know that Malachi Tony had an ankle? He did a little bit on Saturday against UNC. You could see it happened during the game. But he did stay out there. So I imagine I think he'll be out there knowing him. Pete Thamal is dropping a little crumb out there. Hey, just a little nugget. The me and old Max Olsen got here. Malachi Tony status uncertain. It's like, whoa, that'd be huge. Why is that coming out? That would they wouldn't have volunteered that would they? Exactly. And status uncertain is a huge deal for one verse four. Happy. Early with college. They kind of playing close to the vest, but maybe that's what they knew that five. Yep. With the launch. Yeah, they knew before everyone. Yeah, you're right. Notre Dame, favorite by five and a half at home. That's when game for Notre Dame. Playing Miami without Malachi Tony would certainly be what we call a dream situation for anybody in college football. We'll keep our eyes monitored to the authorities. Twitter account. Sorry, X account for more updates across the board. Football is the greatest. Provide so much. Oh, you know, the offense is obviously a fantasy football and, you know, parlay bets. Sure. But you know who wins championships? What's the defense? Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for everything D. B. Good D with the air. Jay Butler. Talk about a team that can win a championship. We knew in other offense, you know, the run game Trevor Lawrence has been playing phenomenal this year, but it's defense. Second in the league right now, points per game at around 16 and number one in the national football league with turnover differential there. Plus seven right now through eight weeks. And this is a big pick right here. We saw this AFC defensive player of the week. It always starts with safety rotation. They kind of get into like a three bus type of look here, but watch the linebacker matching up with Tyler Warren, a little con underneath coverage. Great coverage. You talk about tips and over throws. I don't know if one off Warren's hand or his hands, but you got to take advantage of those tips. Now, I only catch it, but take it to the crib. That's how you win. AFC defensive player. We don't want you to pause right here. Jonathan Taylor. Talk about trading them. Talk about getting out of here. Okay. You expect right here? You know what? I'll probably give up defense, right? Nope. God gives for effort, which I respect. You talk about a guy who's obviously on the block. They only had 12 touches. Had a fumble, but I like him hauling ass all the way into the end zone chasing this guy down the field. That showed me a lot. I appreciate that to wait. Probably going to get everybody else out hell out of here. Let's you get a first round pick to it. I think we'll be here, but a big, big time play by Ray one Lane the third. Jonathan Taylor also gave some good quotes after the game about, you know, we all got to look into it. It's not going to get easier. It's all going to get harder. If we don't get a one, I don't think you can move on from three running back in the league. And I do appreciate him chasing this time. I do appreciate the hell out of him doing that. Maybe we'll maybe we'll get a chance to chase down some more picks sixes this weekend against us. I hope not. I hope not. Maybe get a chance Detroit Lions. Their defense obviously needs to start playing better. I think as they get healthier, they will continue to play better. Obviously missing Jack Campbell out of be Hughes, Justin Jefferson right here. Obviously he's going to demand a ton of attention. He's going to run a crossing route. But I want you to watch up top DJ read made a big time play. You got a cut split. So you have to keep that outside leverage. We saw that earlier with the T Higgins touchdown. And right now, the free safety. He's coming out of the post. Keep that outside leverage. He does a great job. We call this speed turn as a DB putting that foot in the ground, getting back downhill and then making a phenomenal interception catching his ball. He got touched. So he's down by contact. So that returned in count, but a great, great catch right here by DB. A little bit of pull shoot there off the light. Yeah, a little bit. Keep that thing tight. You don't propel myself through here. You look at how much running just happened. I mean, safety just showed that he was coming to Justin Jackson. So he gets off of it. And then to be able to undercut that at 20 miles an hour, absolutely absurd athleticism. What a play from the Lions defense. And I'll tell you at the beginning of the season, there wasn't a lot of Lions defense on good. No, especially even not from him. He had a rough start to the season. Sure, Foxy could speak on that. But as they get healthier branch guy banged up again, but as they get healthier in that back, and I think this defense will start to show up and make plays. But you mentioned a lot of running when you're playing a receiver, obviously, Justin Jefferson is great Jordan Addison's a good receiver as well. So getting that speed turn and then putting that foot in the ground, getting back downhill to where you can undercut. And yeah, there's a slight tug, but unless you kind of really restrict that wide receiver or turn them that back judge isn't going to throw that flag. That's a big time play by a savvy vet. That's great. Dean from the Lions. Good for you, Foxy. We thought we'd never see the Lions on this particular segment. No, never in a million years after that start. But the last three games, this defense is playing pretty good. And do I think they're going to give a lot of yards and a lot of points? Yes. But those turnovers and catching those and capitalizing on those. That's everything. That'll keep this team in the game. Can't stress enough. Love the update we got from Jackhammer to the Detroit Lions. Hopefully that continues to go that way. Good for the Detroit Lions being the brand new Lions. You had again. And oh, we got some more good. Dehaaping from a team with a good offensive line. Yep. We had the Jags. We have the Lions. Now we have the Buffalo build. I think these are three teams that were also on in the trenches. So you talk about complimentary football. Another defense that needs to start playing better football. Just release CJGJ. And I said that shows some confidence in the guys that they have playing right now. So right here kind of showing a split safety look. But all four of these guys will be going to be a man coverage. My favorite coverage right here looks like a one robber. So you got man-to-man match on the outside. And then this guy right here, Geno Stone's played a ton of football. He's going to be the robber. And he's reading one guy, the quarterback. So you're filling out routes and you reading the quarterback. And this is Joey. Fanon. No, no, I don't read the book. You don't get to him. Boom. Tip did. You talk about tips and overthrown. This is Igg Benosan Ohio State National champ gets a pick. It all starts with the defense though. It all starts with reading that quarterback getting a ball near and taking advantage of getting your hands on the ball. Now I know he wants to catch that and he catches a lot of them. But that's a big time play. Fignano will be playing for the Ravens because the Jacoby Berset trade will not be finalized in time for Thursday night football. Probably making his start Monday night football against the Chargers next week. Oh, this is probably. Give me a break. It's Monday night football. That game fucking sucks. I feel bad for you. You have to go there and sit out there and act like that thing means anything. It doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Does it. Is that an LA? No. Okay. At least you got to fly to Baltimore. Geez. Louise. I don't like that. I just, you know, sometimes you got to call spade a spade. Yeah, you can't flex it. It's not week 12. Yeah. I can't fucking sucks. Yeah. It is Monday night football. So fucking put something out there that people want to see. Okay. Hey, Jacoby Berset getting to start for the Ravens. Jesse Mentor and the boys might go on a run for the rest of the season at very tough AFC North. And the Chargers, is there any signs of life? Well, good news. They're being showcased right here. Oh, yeah. No, not so bad. Obviously they're winning this, but he's leading the league just to Herbert with tenor receptions right now. And this is another one. How many games have they played? It's a quarterback. You got to know that you see split safety coverage. It's still a game. It's eight point game in a third quarter. First down. You see split safety coverage. You automatically know, hey, it's a potential that the corners can come up and play these flats. And that's what treatment Duffy does. I believe they're fourth and past defense five and total defense, lap mccunkey. He's going to be the guy in the flat, but he's not even getting past the line of scrimmage. So McDuffy is just reading the quarterback. And you see Herbert. He wants to throw his ball on his back foot. Not there. He never sees McDuffy throws it right. Why? It's a perfect example of just the offense and the quarterback just just not fitting together. We saw if you run it back to the wide copy, we saw two or do this when he was playing good football a million times. Get to that back foot, do a play action, and then hit a guy between the numbers and the hash mark. And that's what you want to be. That's kind of how this offense is built. I just don't think that's the type of quarterback just to Herbert is. You see him try to execute us here. And you also see Trent McDuffy do a great job. Just bait them up and taking full advantage of the quarterback. Miles Garrett coming back right and Donald McDuffy still on this team. Do the Rams defense have a chance to be the showcase D that we thought they were coming into the season? Yes, I think the Rams, I think they have good coach and I think they have great football players. So yeah, at this point in the season, as long as they can stay healthy, I think they can continue to get better. And then we all expect, you know, Matthew Stafford and that offense to continue to be able to put up points. I'm sick of seeing Justin Herbert on good day every week. Seems like he's becoming a main thing. Yeah, too damn much. Justin Herbs and cheese cheese on a Italian toast and shredded lettuce. That's right. A little mayo on there. And you're the Vikings. Why wouldn't you offer three first round picks for him right now, four first round. What about says he'll be getting Kevin O'Connell's offense? Well, Kevin O'Connell for what we think is in the dork. All right. This shit like Mike McKinnell. I get it, you know, but I mean everybody says hey, O'Connell can win with anybody, but I know, but I think there's a lot of time.

Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The college football playoff committee is increasingly relying on "football judgment," particularly emphasizing team strength in the trenches, such as offensive and defensive line performance.
Key figures like Wesley Walls, Randall McDaniel, and Dan Coney bring a traditional, physical football mindset to the evaluation process, signaling a shift toward valuing physicality over just win-loss records.
Teams like UCLA and Ole Miss are seen as strong contenders due to their dominant line play, especially in games against top opponents like Oregon, which highlights the growing importance of physical matchup analysis.
The committee uses a subgroup voting method where teams are evaluated in rotating groups of six, which explains why certain matchups—like Alabama vs. Tennessee—are not always directly compared, leading to potential inconsistencies.
There is skepticism about the transparency and fairness of the process, with concerns that ESPN’s media presence may bias the perception of SEC dominance, and that committee members may lack comprehensive film access.
Human judgment, especially from coaches and former players, plays a critical role in assessing teams that are close in record, with emphasis on "how hard it would be to play" a team rather than just win-loss stats.
The 2026 CFP rankings reflect a more competitive and parity-driven landscape, with fewer top-four teams historically winning, and a greater chance of upsets due to the reliance on nuanced, human-based evaluations.
The debate over whether a neutral spokesperson should lead public commentary—rather than a voting member—shows that accountability and transparency are essential to maintain trust in the process.
Summary:
FAQs
Football judgment refers to evaluating teams based on in-game performance, particularly in the trenches—offensive and defensive lines. This year, the committee is reportedly placing more emphasis on physicality and defensive line strength, as seen in discussions about Ohio State and UCLA's dominant line play.
The committee uses a group-based voting method where six teams are identified, ranked among themselves, and then the top four are locked in. This process repeats with different groups of six until all 12 teams are ranked, allowing teams to be evaluated in smaller, more focused pods.
UCLA has a massive and physically dominant offensive and defensive line, which suggests strong football judgment. Their performance against Oregon, with huge linemen on both sides, shows the kind of physicality that the committee may value more in this year's rankings.
Yes—ESPN, which broadcasts many games, may influence public perception. However, the actual rankings are made by a committee of coaches and former players, not ESPN, and they access films from various sources, not just ESPN broadcasts.
The trenches—offensive and defensive lines—are seen as a key differentiator between elite and less successful programs. Teams with strong, physical lines, like UCLA or Ole Miss, are viewed as better equipped to compete, especially in close, physical matchups.
The committee’s grouping method ensures teams are evaluated in different pods. If Alabama and Tennessee were never matched in the same group, it could reflect a procedural oversight or a deliberate decision to keep them separate in the evaluation process.
