PMS 2.0 1653 - OVERREACTION MONDAY, NFL Week 7 Recap, MNF Preview/Picks, Matthew Stafford, Adam Schefter, Dan Orlovsky, Darius Butler, & AJ Hawk
3h 3m 48s
The Overreaction Monday segment highlights a dramatic and evolving NFL season, centered on pivotal matchups and broader trends in football strategy. The Cowboys-Eagles game unfolds amid intense scrutiny over Jalen Hurts’ injury and the Eagles’ struggling season, while the Cowboys face pressure to recover from poor performances. A major trend emerging is the dominance of the run game, with teams like the Seahawks and Rams showcasing elite rushing and defensive prowess, reinforcing a shift away from passing-heavy offenses. Matthew Stafford’s achievement as the all-time leading passer in touchdowns across two franchises underscores his enduring impact and adaptability, especially in the Rams’ new offensive system. Meanwhile, J.J. McCarthy’s breakout performance with the Giants—marked by key throws, a strong run game, and a 4-2-1 record—signals a potential transformation for the team and the NFC East, which now appears to be a competitive force. The segment also notes the Ravens’ persistent second-half collapse and the Bengals’ rebound, illustrating a broader inconsistency in team performance under pressure. These dynamics reflect a return to physical, grounded football, with big-bodied players and aggressive running strategies dominating. Coaches like John Harbaugh are fostering a culture of accountability and celebration, elevating team morale and performance. Overall, the season reveals a shift in priorities—run over pass, grit over glamour—reshaping how teams prepare and succeed, making football more physical, resilient, and unpredictable.
Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to another magnificent, magical Overreaction Monday,
October 26, 2026.
This sports program begins right now.
Football!
Today is the greatest, which is why I'm in this suite here at the Lincoln.
Monday night football will wrap up a magical NFL slate that had the weekend abuzz as the
Cowboys travel here to Philadelphia.
These two franchises, one and seven since week two, not certainly a great run by any
means.
Dak has four picks in the last two games.
The boys that they have outside for weapons haven't been able to eat that much.
And on the other side, Tanner McKee is looking to step into a place that nobody would want
to do, which is a Philadelphia Eagles team that has certainly had a lot of question marks
and transitions as the day rolls on.
Now, the Jalen Hurts blood clot story is only beginning to really heat up about the investigation
and.
How the whole process went.
Watching local news here last night, they did an entire breakdown of like, hey, what
the hell happened here?
This guy's Super Bowl MVP.
That storyline will continue to build until there is a full investigation.
Everybody releases every decision that was made.
All of our thoughts and prayers are still with Jalen Hurts as he hopefully comes back
fully healthy in the end.
But for now, the Philadelphia Eagles, they have to play a season.
Coach Sirianni has to rally the boys.
They have to get something done.
Or will the Dallas Cowboys find a game that can get them back on track?
To be everything that we thought they were going to be in the offseason, which is maybe
a Super Bowl contending team.
The NFC East has become the NFC least unless you see the Giants with J.J. McCarthy.
It's a crazy time for the NFL, and we're going to cover it all.
Also, college football had a magnificent weekend.
A lot of game winning kicks.
And then you go to the Sunday slate.
It started in Paris.
It ended in Seattle.
Exhilaration galore.
Life is good for a football fan.
It's not just me chit-chatting today.
I'm very lucky to do it.
We also have Gumpy sitting up.
Gumpy, how are you doing over there, pal?
Looks like you're in a perfect spot to watch a little football.
Maybe a little Ponda hockey over the shoulder as well, pal.
Yeah, a little Fly Eagles fly in the broadcast booth here.
Beautiful overreaction Monday, everybody.
We would like to say thank you to everybody that set this up.
We would like to say thank you to the Philadelphia Eagles organization.
We assume Big Dom had to sign off on this.
So, obviously, grazie, paisan.
It's not just us here at the link.
The boys are back in the Thunderdome.
Let's go to college football national champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner, A.J. Hawk.
What up, Hawk?
Hey, Hawk.
Oh, I like Gump's little situation up there while he's facing kind of away from the camera.
It looks perfect.
Yeah, yeah.
It's a little tight in here.
You know, it's a little tight in here.
We got program feed.
If I want to look at you, you're down over here.
Okay, you're down over here.
Everything's kind of in there.
Got some cameras wedged in here.
The setup crew for ESPN did a great job putting us in here.
We're very grateful.
It's a little tight.
It's Philadelphia, big time city.
You know, a lot of history here.
The room I was in was overlooking the Philadelphia capital downtown.
It is the tallest building in the world without any steel structure in it, strictly done by masonry, 1901.
Has a William Penn statue on top of it.
And I'll tell you, you start thinking about the history of Philadelphia and everything that's happened here, let alone Rocky and Sylvester Stallone.
But this was the nation's first capital, I'll have you remember.
That Liberty Bell was cracking for some reason.
Now, when tonight happens, maybe we get more history.
Maybe this is when Tanner McKee becomes a franchise quarterback.
Maybe this is when the Philadelphia Eagles and Nick Sirianni continue to do what they've always done here,
which is win games other than this year and the end of a couple last year.
Goddard is back.
A.J., your thoughts on the Philadelphia Eagles, where they are right now?
And it's almost like not great to have to host a Monday night football game when your team is potentially in a bit of shambles
because all eyes are now focused directly on them.
Not that they weren't in the past, but now all eyes are learning.
Philadelphia Eagles, a little bit of a slide.
Obviously a lot going on.
Dallas Cowboys, a little bit of a slide.
Always a lot going on.
Now we're focusing on it all day.
A.J., your thoughts?
Your thoughts on who can maybe turn their season around, or what's a win tonight for both these teams?
Man, I think it's an awesome situation now where both teams are leading up to this,
especially, like you said, we have all day to talk about it.
Everyone is going to be watching tonight because we know, like, let's say Philly comes out
and they go three and out for two series in a row, and they fall behind two scores.
This place is going to be wild, what those fans are going to do.
And on the flip side, though, if Philadelphia comes out and they get out to a hot start,
I think those fans will get behind them and try to, you know, encourage them
and to find a way to give them a chance.
But both teams, a very pivotal game, both teams obviously need to win.
But I think being at home for Philly, more is kind of on the line for them tonight.
Yeah, here's some ESPN insights on good for Philly, not great for Dallas.
Shottie is, the Cowboys won 7-1 in primetime.
Now, they have a lot of primetime games, so we're seeing a lot of this loss for Shottie.
He's getting questioned for a lot of things.
They haven't scored a lot of points.
Jerry Jones has invested a lot of energy and capital into, you know,
building this roster out on the offensive side.
Haven't really seen it.
He's lost some games.
He's getting questioned all over the place.
And the Eagles, they're just looking to avoid losing five straight weeks, 11-15 in 2006.
It is a crazy time for both these franchises, and obviously we had hopes for both of them.
Speaking of crazy, football was awesome this weekend.
Let's go to the talks table at Boston Corner and at Ty Schmidt.
Con man, what a weekend of ball, brother.
I mean, ball is delivering.
College, spectacular.
We had a couple game-winning kicks, had a couple misses.
And then Sunday follows.
Ball is up from Paris to Seattle.
Ball is throwing absolute heat right now, con man.
Yeah, and for the most part, there hasn't been too much drama going on with the ball itself.
You know, it feels like every single weekend there is a game or two that kind of you would think get ruined by referees.
Feel like that didn't happen as a whole.
The one main one, I think, would be the Lions-Packers everyone was really talking about,
which did have a couple questionable calls, especially when Tom Brady's even in the booth saying, like,
Hey, what are we doing here?
But, I mean, it's just great talk.
The bottom's going from, you know, Saturday game day, which was experience, you could say,
and then going to, you know, Ole Miss-Texas on Saturday night.
Then all the games, Paris seemingly went over smoothly.
Not so sure.
But, yeah, football swinging a hot, hot bat, expecting the same thing tonight.
Yeah, and today's a sports equinox.
Okay, so we got all the sports participating in today.
Shout out to this overreaction Monday.
We got NFL Monday Night Football.
We got MLB World Series.
We got WNBA.
We got WNBA Finals.
Right?
Yeah.
And it goes play.
I think they figured it out.
Holly Rowe pitched Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Good idea.
And it should be available.
If it was available, it'd be cool to see that.
I think building up the court and everything on the field with the seats takes a little bit
because Indianapolis does it a lot.
But that was crazy that they were trying to find a place for them to play.
But shout out to sports here today.
Oh, yeah.
Go sports.
Shout out to sports.
Doing it.
We'll continue to get a chance to enjoy it all.
Let's go to one half of the hammer.
Dot.
Cowboys, AP Tone.
Tone, what are the trends coming out of week seven NFL Sunday?
So the favorites were seven and six this weekend for NFL.
And then the over was eight and five.
And then as far as, you know, looking at everything, you know, a couple big dogs on the Giants.
One is 10 point dogs, which is absurd.
Teams that are getting their teams that are heavy favorites this year.
Six plus points have been just horrendous against the spread.
So it's kind of that thing where we talk about we don't know what's going to happen ever.
And teams that are favored by a ton have been terrible this year in that situation.
So it's more of the same where it's like, hey, you know, you think we you think, you know, what you think, you know, and you don't.
And the NFL proves that every single Sunday as far as gambling is concerned as well.
Yeah, I like that.
We don't know a damn thing.
I agree.
You know, I hate it.
I put in some.
I thought they looked tasty.
You know, I thought they looked.
Uh-huh.
Kenneth Walker.
He's definitely going to score a touchdown.
Obviously.
He's returning to Seattle.
No questions asked.
Kansas City Chiefs are going to force Kenneth Walker to get into paint because they want to remind Seattle what they don't have.
Instead, it's the complete opposite.
Last night, what a showcase of the Seattle Seahawks team.
They had, what, 100 running backs all going crazy?
And then on the defensive side, all I watched was Patrick Mahomes sitting on a sideline.
They were absurd with how they performed.
They have a nickname.
I think I heard Rex Ryan yesterday on the pregame show say.
Anytime you're playing a defense that has a nickname, you're probably going to be in for it.
Let's go to a nine-year NFL vet, one of the greatest minds in the history of defense, especially on television, Darius J. Butler.
D. Butch, I think that's a good statement.
Like, you had Legion of Boom.
You had Steel Curtain.
I think there's a couple others in the past.
Purple People Eaters.
Yep.
Okay.
No Fly Zone.
Denver Broncos defense that won a Super Bowl.
Yeah.
I think that was a hilarious line, but it's very real.
And the Seattle Seahawks last night put on another show defensively that obviously Mike McDonald, their head coach, is an incredible leader.
We forget that he's a defensive master, Mikey, but what did we see from the Seattle Seahawks defense that made you go, hold the phone?
They might have another Super Bowl title in them.
I mean, they just do everything right.
And A.J. knows this as well.
Whenever you talk about defense, it starts with setting the edge.
So setting the edge in a run game, setting the edge in a pass game, keeping kind of a quarterback in that box.
And then the other thing they do well is swarm and fly to the ball.
The critical downs.
The money down is 3-4-11.
So you talk about Patrick Mahomes being on the sideline.
A lot of that has to do with the complimentary football of the offense.
I think Brian Fleury is an O.C.
He called a great game.
JSN went off like he always does.
Starts with stopping that run as well.
Kenneth Walker, 14 carries for 36 yards.
Came into this game averaging, I think, over a buck 30.
This Seattle defense hasn't given up a 100-yard rush in 36 consecutive games, which is incredible.
So they hunt, man.
They play well.
They got each other's back on all levels.
And I just love it.
love the attitude they play with.
So, yeah, they've earned this
I believe it's the dark side is what it's called.
So, yeah, they fly around.
These jerseys are absolutely beautiful.
But, yeah, this is the worst I know I've seen Patrick Mahomes look,
at least in a regular season game.
I know he had the bad game against the Eagles in the Super Bowl.
But for him not to have a snap in the red zone,
like Patrick Mahomes, the greatest quarterback of his generation,
to not even get into the red zone and have a snap, it was unbelievable.
So hats off to this defense.
And, yeah, absolutely, this defense can carry this team to another Super Bowl.
And they're not the only one.
We'll definitely dive into that.
There's a defense in Minnesota doing its thing as well with Flores.
NFL researcher account says the Seahawks held the Chiefs to their fewest points,
three, tied, total yards 213, first downs only 11,
and zero red zone drives.
Obviously, the Internet is talking about that now.
In any game started by Patrick Mahomes, wow, what a performance,
especially with what we've been talking about with this particular offense,
reminding us of the glory days of the Patrick Mahomes Showtime offenses.
Because Kenneth Walker could beat down a defense.
You have to have a light box or a heavy box.
If you have a heavy box, everybody else can kind of eat around it.
So with what they were able to do, with what was being talked about,
and who was showing up, I love the way McDonald's got the boys eating out there.
Now, on the flip side, they were able to run the rock, too,
which goes to our top five headlines.
A.J. Hawk, I don't know if you know this, but back in the NFC North,
when you were playing, you had to have that gigantic head
because you were running and running backs.
You were running and running backs.
Let's start our top five, top five, top five headlines driven by Ram.
If you want a truck that can pull anything
and get you to where you need to be comfortably
and have all the luxuries and grit that you could ever imagine,
you get yourself a Ram truck.
Now, top five headlines of the NFL Sunday.
Let's start with number five.
A. The Pound the Rock era continues.
Seahawks did it.
They outrushed the Chiefs by 100 yards.
Rams outrushed by 99.
Oh, sorry, these are leading rushers.
Let's get to the, could you get to the amount of yards, please?
Could you get to the amount of yards that were separated?
I think that's a.
That's a much more important stat here.
The stat that teams are outrushing other teams by like 100 plus yards now.
They're winning the games.
Buccaneers lead by plus 170 rushers.
Rams, 151 more rush yards.
Steelers, 130 more rush yards.
Giants, 104 more rush yards.
We saw Singletary take that thing in after the long scataboo run in the overtime.
I can't believe the Texans' defense is allowing that to happen at this stage.
Seahawks, 103 more rush yards.
And then the Lions, a measly 59 more yards than the Green Bay Packers.
That's six first downs.
That's who knows how much time off the clock.
The run game is continuing to dominate.
The formations, the 13 personnel, the power players.
Not only are you keeping it, like Seattle Seahawks, they were running the ball.
They kept Patrick Mahomes off the field.
Then Patrick Mahomes would get on the field and that defense would kill him.
It's like the pound the rock era is real, AJ.
We saw glimpses of it in the first couple weeks.
We didn't know if it was going to remain.
But it has been proven now, week in, week out.
If you can move the ball on the ground, you're going to win these games.
And if you can't, you're done-zo.
Steelers outrushed the Saints by however many it was.
At one point, there was a graphic on the screen.
And it was like the Saints had 16 yards rushing.
And the Steelers had like 200-something.
It's like such an indicator of 2026 football if you can run the ball.
Running back is more important now than they have been in, what, decades, AJ?
Is that what it feels like?
I would say almost two decades, yeah.
Because I think that's something that we kind of had complained about in the past
with football becoming smaller guys, basketball on grass.
As they say, spread them out, get guys in space, which they definitely still do.
You obviously want to get your athletes the ball in space.
But when you can consistently run the ball, like it is –
it's heartbreaking for a defense and a defensive coordinator.
If you can – let's say you get a couple stops early
and then all of a sudden they get a third and eight.
And you're like, okay, here we go, let's heat them up.
Or they run a little draw or say they have 13 personnel or something
and they get 12, 13 yards on you, another first down and another first down.
When they keep doing that to you, I think it just –
it does something not only physically to your defense,
but mentally to your whole team.
When another team is able to consistently run,
and we watch guys like Scadaboo just breaking tackles left and right,
I thought it was a questionable penalty, no doubt on him for lowering his head.
Maybe he's just a little bit lower than every other defender.
I kind of have a problem with this call.
I'm sure we will get into that.
But it was absolutely nasty.
I'm glad I'm not the guy trying to bring him down, that's for sure.
Yeah, and Scadaboo says afterwards, you know,
the NFL wants to promote the way I play and the runs that I have,
and then they're going to give me a flag for it
and probably fine me for it.
It is against the rules what he did, crown of his head, threw somebody's sternum.
It's usually called on the defense.
A lot of defenders normally say, well, why isn't it called on an offense?
And then as soon as it gets called, everybody's like, that's why,
because it looks soft calling it on a guy who has a ball.
D-Butt, your thoughts on DBs going to have to be able to tackle
for the rest of the foreseeable future now,
because the run game is the game it feels like in the NFL this year.
Absolutely.
You've got to have corners.
You've got to have DBs that can show up and tackle.
You saw it last night with the Seahawks.
Like their DBs almost won a tackle too.
It's another thing to be a guy that can tackle,
and it's another thing to be a willing tackler.
Like you're actually getting there, filling gaps,
because a lot of these offenses, they're going to design their runs
so that they leave a free guy, and it's going to be a corner
or maybe a free safety that doesn't typically want to get down there
and get dirty.
But, yeah, like A.J. said, if a team can just line up
and run the ball down your throat, that is absolutely demoralizing.
We have to wonder what these games are going to look like in December.
We might have some 9-7 games, and I'm talking three field goals
and a touchdown.
You just saw the Chiefs not be able to get into the Reds.
I'm talking a touchdown because the other team was running the ball so well
so they didn't have the ball that much, and then defenses were able to get stops.
I think we're going to have a grimy, gritty end of the year.
The teams that can run and stop the run are going to be the ones
that are going to go on.
Not that that's ever been different, but it feels like it's being spotlighted
and highlighted even more.
Now let's go to number four headline.
This is a big one.
This is a big one.
It is.
For the older generation, it's history-making weekend for the old firm.
Congratulations to Aaron Rodgers.
Output all the time, regular season touchdown passing list.
Does it in France?
No, in Diggs.
This guy looks young.
I put out his little scamper because I felt obligated to pay my respects
to a 42-year-old.
He's running all over the place.
He's seemingly happy.
He's throwing it all over the place.
He's coming out afterwards saying, we should have been here all week.
We should have got to experience this.
They should do an international week.
You know, the owners got a little greedy.
They wanted 17 games.
Could have done 16 with an international week, with an extra bye week.
We could have celebrated.
He has thoughts on a lot of things.
He wanted to go out to Paris earlier.
I think he's enjoyed his international games.
And the Pittsburgh Steelers look a lot different.
This year than they have in years past offensively.
I'm excited to see what Aaron can continue to do.
He makes history tone.
How do the Steelers fans feel, especially after a big bonjour morning for the lads?
Yeah, it was awesome.
It was an incredible way to start a Sunday.
And this is like the third or fourth week in a row that we've been watching Aaron.
And everyone's like, he'll make a play or two, a game in the pocket,
where he's moving around the pocket.
And he's looking very spry and he's looking good.
And people are saying he's looking more mobile than he has in like the last four
or five years.
Was he throwing the ball a ton down the field yesterday?
No.
But he's always.
He's always making the right decision.
You know he's going to get you into the right play.
And it's just another situation where they obviously, as we just talked about,
ran the ball a ton.
Jalen Warren is awesome.
The Saints only ran for 18 yards.
So you were correct in seeing that start in that stat.
This is the best the Steelers have been in the trenches at least in five years.
So just an incredible way to start your day yesterday
and pump for Aaron's set in history again.
We would have liked Jalen Warren maybe to get the first touchdown or any touchdown.
Did you see any vintage Raji there, Ty, as you've been watching Aaron here
with this Pittsburgh Steelers team?
And do you think it's because it is his final year, so he's leaving it all out there?
Or is he in better shape than ever, it appears, Ty?
I think it's a little bit of both.
There was a play early on where he had thrown a couple deep balls and missed on them.
And then he had a beautifully placed deep ball bomb to DK to get them down into the
red zone and just like came out quick, evaded the rush, and kind of got out of the pocket.
That looked like 2013 Aaron Rodgers.
And then, again,
the scramble he had to kind of put the game away, like that was that was Rod from early in his career.
And I think I think it is he he's just kind of enjoying everything, taking everything in because
it really does feel like this actually is the last year of his career.
And he's comfortable with Mike.
He likes a lot of his teammates.
So, yeah, Raj does look like he's kind of turning the page back quite a bit.
And it's awesome to watch.
So it's not just old ass Aaron.
There's another man that made history this weekend.
Congratulations to Matthew Stafford.
Becoming the all time leader in passing touchdowns with two franchises, two franchises.
Obviously, the Detroit Lions, remember, throwing all over the place now for the Los Angeles Rams, for the Rams organization.
He's the all time leader in passing touchdowns.
You go back.
Greatest show on turf.
Was that the Rams?
Yep.
Yes.
They threw a bunch of touchdowns.
Then there was another name that came up last night that actually held the record.
He blows through it.
The Rams era of Matthew Stafford's career obviously gets an MVP, gets a
Super Bowl.
I had no idea it had been long enough for him to become the franchise leader in passing touchdowns.
Dude is special.
He was drafted number one overall in the same draft class that I was in.
I was picked to 22 and he's still spinning it as if it was the day he came out of Georgia.
I have no idea how he's been able to accomplish it.
His greatness and toughness exemplifies what an NFL quarterback should be.
We've seen him play through broken shoulders, broken ribs.
He literally as he's running down the field in a mic.
He picked up things, still getting the job done deep, but you were drafted in the same draft class.
This dude's outrageous.
Did we know the Rams era had been long enough for him to become the franchise leader?
I did not.
I was a mightily surprised by this.
I absolutely did not.
We watched him play for a long, long time in Detroit.
We expected him to have all the passing records there, the yards, the touchdowns.
He was always doing his things just about, Hey, the team, the team around him.
Can he ever get in the playoffs and make something happen?
Then you got the team around him in LA.
He's been driving that ship.
He's a bit unbelievable.
Yeah, I'm with you.
I was actually surprised that he jumped up to
Number one, that quick.
I guess I shouldn't be, but he's been tremendous.
And as you get older, you know, usually your body slows down a little bit.
He looks like he can still throw the ball the same way he did 10 years ago.
So I don't know if it was that damn chamber.
I don't know if it's some other stuff going on in L.A.
He's working out.
He's looking incredible.
The sun is nice out there.
Oh, yeah, true.
The sun is really nice out there.
We were out there for a week last week.
The Ritz didn't have power for 24 hours.
I have no idea that happens.
But we did get a chance to experience the sun.
Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is the number one overall pick from the 2009 draft,
now the all-time leader in passing touchdowns in two different franchises.
What a stallion.
Ladies and gentlemen, Super Bowl champion, MVP Matthew Stafford.
Yay, Matthew!
Fellas, how we doing?
Dude, thank you for joining us.
So thankful that you made time.
I understand you're fresh out of breaking some franchise records,
and there's a lot going on.
So we appreciate it.
We were surprised, okay?
I just mentioned, I think you heard me talk about that.
But how has this?
This era of being an L.A. Ram, I think a lot of people, whenever you go out there,
with what your age was naturally, you win a Super Bowl.
Then there was like, he's going to retire, he's going to retire,
and then how would we recall it?
Now you're the all-time leader for the Rams.
Does that carry any more weight for you as, like, the face of two franchises?
Like, how do you kind of view your experience in Los Angeles now?
Yeah, I kind of look back at it kind of the same way you guys do.
I sit there and go, man, I have been here for a little bit,
and I do have so much respect for the guys that played the position before me.
Obviously, passing Roman Gabriel is a really,
really cool thing for me, being a kid, just loving the history of this game
and being able to be in the same breath as guys like that means a lot to me.
I think about it, and I think about all the teammates I got to throw to.
You guys always say, remember, launching touchdowns to Calvin Johnson
and Pettigrew and all the boys in Detroit, you know, when we were all still playing.
And now I sit there and think, you know, I'm throwing them to Devontae Adams
and Pukunuku.
It's a special thing to be a part of.
A lot of people had their hand in it.
I don't catch them.
I just throw them, but there's a lot of people out there that make
those things happen.
So just appreciative to be able to have played this long
and loving my time here for sure.
Tell me a little bit about McVay's offense
and why you have loved it so much since day one.
It does feel like you two are a great tag team.
I know contract, there was some stuff, but on the field,
and I believe as friends, you two work magic together.
Why is that?
What is it about the way McVay operates that you love so much?
Yeah, you know, I think we challenge each other.
You know, he's obviously challenged me on the field,
asked me to do things that I wasn't,
was never asked to really do in Detroit,
whether that's moving the pocket or doing some of the things
we do within the offense.
And then I think in the same breath,
I bring things that I'm used to doing when I was in Detroit,
you know, to where, hey, let's mold these two things together.
Let's try to find a way to be the best that we can.
And we're all ultimately out there just trying to be problem solvers, right?
Week in and week out, there's injuries,
things that happen throughout the game.
How are we going to find a way to win the ball game?
And I've just loved being in the foxhole with him.
He's been in my ear since I've been here and love going to battle with him.
I don't know what the percentages,
but it feels like every other throw you don't see who you're throwing it to.
AJ has a question about that actually, Matty.
Matthew, obviously your no-look stuff gets a lot of attention,
which it should because it's an absolute weapon.
I know we've had Aaron Rodgers on here complimenting you on your no-look passes.
Like, how did that come about?
Was that something that just started as a joke
or you're messing around playing with your buddies?
Like, is it something you can work on in practice?
And I guess, did you expect to be doing it this often?
Yeah, no, I don't think I really ever expected to be doing it this often.
I think it really started as a joke.
I think it really started, to be honest with you, AJ,
back when we were battling against each other
and everybody in the building knew I was trying to throw it to Calvin.
So, okay, how do I not look at Calvin and still throw it to Calvin?
That was kind of how it started.
And then I think with the way that Coach allows me to have some freedom here,
just try to know what the defense is doing.
Hey, I know what we're doing on offense.
I'm trying to find ways to make a good play better
or a play that might be a little bit uphill, make it work.
And so it's a natural thing.
I don't think about it before the snap.
I catch the ball.
I catch the ball.
I understand what the defense is in.
I try to move guys if I need to move guys.
And sometimes you don't.
But, you know, one yesterday tried to peel a corner off of a flat route for us
and it ended up working, and we scored a touchdown on it.
So I'm happy to do them when they work.
When they don't, that's a tough feeling.
But they work most of the time.
Yeah, I'm trying to get a guy off a guy, you know.
I'm letting the eyes dance.
You're seeing whenever he can move and then do it.
And do you work – how often are you working that?
Like in practice, are you working that every day?
Or is this just a natural ability?
And do you think future quarterbacks should be forced to learn how to do this?
No, I think you should only do it if you're going to –
you know, Aaron's been doing them more now.
I'll tell you what.
He does them, you know, a lot of times looking straight, throwing out to his right.
I see him checking them down, doing some of those throws down there,
giving his guys a little bit more room, which is an impressive deal too.
But, no, it comes up in practice for sure.
I don't think about it, like I said.
And it comes up organically in practice as well.
It's not like, hey, here's the play.
I'm going to no look it.
Let's go do it.
It just happens.
And it's a fun little rite of passage for the linebackers that we're practicing against
if we get a new guy in.
Try to get him moving one way, throw behind him one day,
and just tip of the cap to him.
He looks back at me like, what the hell is that?
But it's a lot of fun.
Yeah, he –
Poor kid's getting cut.
Poor kid's getting cut because he's jumping the crosser every time.
Hey, welcome to the Rams, bud.
You don't know who Matthew Stafford is, you fucking idiot.
You think he's going to look where he's throwing it?
Yeah, right.
That is a hilarious.
That is a realization in real time, I would assume, for him.
D-Bud has a question for you.
You guys are supposed to be undefeated, and you're supposed to win an MVP again.
Go ahead, D-Bud.
Yeah, obviously, it's a play-to-play, week-to-week league, you know,
inside that locker room.
But outside noise coming in, those were the expectations.
With you coming back as the reigning MVP,
Myles Garrett coming over, reigning defensive player of the year,
and obviously Sean McVay being who he is.
How has it been managing the expectations in that locker room,
even from the preseason now where you sit going forward?
Yeah, I think it's been a big challenge, obviously.
The biggest thing is trying to be as steady
as I possibly can when things aren't going your way.
We've played a couple games this year where we feel like
we've played well enough to win them.
For one reason or another, we haven't come away with those victories,
and that's a tough pill to swallow, as you guys know.
When you feel like you've got a game, you know,
and it doesn't go your way at the end, that's difficult.
But at the same time, how steady can I be so the guys that haven't been
through some of the storms that an NFL season inevitably bring,
hey, how can I be steady for those guys so they look at me and go,
oh, okay, we're going to be all right.
Look how staff's acting.
Let's go.
And I'm really proud of the work.
Okay.
Of the week of work that we had last week that led to a great game.
We've got to go keep doing that.
You know, we've got to stack those weeks on top of each other
so that we can get where we want to be.
I don't know if you've heard all of us talk about your team.
Last week on Monday Night Countdown, on this show, I think on NFL Live,
I think everybody that speaks about your team,
are we worried about the Rams?
You know, because the way records are in math
and like how often teams have been able to go on,
all of us have like an unwavering and unflappable belief in you guys
just because of the amount of talent you have.
I assume same for you guys?
I assume the same for you guys?
Yeah, but I would say less so because of our talent,
probably a little bit more so because of our resilience.
You know, I think a couple years ago, 2023, I believe it was,
we were one and four to start the season, made the playoffs.
We were three and six the next year, made the playoffs.
You know, we'd love to come out and start like we did in 2021
and be seven and one or whatever it was to start the season.
But, you know, you go through storms in NFL season,
sometimes that's, you know, right out the gate.
And so we've got to find a way to come out of that thing,
find our identity.
Make sure that we're playing good football.
And yesterday was a step in the right direction.
Still some plays out there that we wish we had back.
And if we can clean those up, it'd look even better.
So just happy to get a win as we move forward,
continue to try to get better as the season goes.
We love watching your team.
And we feel like the story of this NFL season, 13 personnel,
which we're going to ask you about here in a bit,
because you have a triple tower type situation.
But the run game seemingly more important now in ball
than it has been for the last couple of decades.
Connor has a question for you about that, Steph.
Yeah, Matthew, I haven't played Corham and Kyron Williams
back there, seemingly huge for the offense
and something that maybe you've never had before
when it comes to kind of a two-headed monster back there.
How awesome is it to have those two guys?
And how often now do you go up there with a run play call
or a pass play called and you're like, you know what?
I'm just going to check it because both my running backs
are unbelievable.
Yeah, they are.
It's a whole lot of fun.
And you're right.
I haven't had a tandem like this where they both can do everything.
Right.
You usually have one big guy, one small guy,
a big slow guy that can run over people
and a small fast guy that can run around people.
And this is a really unique instance in which
we can call our entire offense with both those guys in the game
and not bad and nice.
Sometimes I get in the huddle.
I don't know which one of them is in the damn game.
They look so much alike anyways.
So, hey, we just go out there and play ball
and those guys do what they do.
But it is fun.
And I know our guys up front love blocking in the run game
for those guys because they're making big plays.
And, you know, that's when football is fun,
when everybody's getting involved.
Both backs are touching it.
The O-line.
They're getting after it.
Yesterday was a fun experience.
Yeah.
So when the run game gets going, obviously you can, you know,
we can start cooking a little bit.
And then that sucks up the linebackers.
We're trying to suck them up, trying to get them sucked up.
You know who eats?
They had a holiday yesterday.
Diggs has a question for you, staff.
Yeah, I do.
And there was a lot made last year about, I don't know,
halfway through the season.
You guys went to a ton of 12, 13 personnel.
And Pat was out there for Monday night.
And he's like, you guys need to see these tight ends in person.
They're like all 6'8".
They're all 6'8".
They're all like 250 and they could all run.
So how do you choose each week who,
which tight end is going to get two touchdowns in each week?
And how fun is it having those guys available for you?
It's a, it's a blast.
We pick straws.
And, you know, I was happy for DA.
We call him the general.
That's why everybody was saluting him afterwards.
But he, he, he drew the, the straw this week.
So, you know,
I just tried to beat him down there in the red zone next week.
It'll be somebody else.
No, it is.
It's so much fun to play with those guys.
You know, like you said,
they're all big.
big tall strong fast can do it all complete football players
great teammates too man they all celebrate each other which is a whole
hell of a lot of fun to be around when guys can be happy for other people's
success you've been on teams like that where you know a guy scores and
everybody's juice for him no matter what even if they play the same position so
happy to have those guys and and they definitely make it go for us that's
great to hear especially with the rocky start rocky start you guys had you know
because people can turn on each other instead it sounds like you guys have
only hunkered down and started celebrating each other more here's a
stat from Sarah Barsha per ESPN research you guys were in a season I 34
plays with three tight ends on the field also had a season I 38 rushes I
kind of said this earlier it was our top five headline number five the pound the
rock era does it feel like it's more bigger bodies again like maybe at the
beginning of your career in the NFL as opposed to what it became on the field
at all times yeah absolutely I definitely think so this feels you know
around the league when you look at it fullbacks are back you know tight ends
are back this is what it felt like when I was a kid I was a kid I was a kid
when I came into the league like he said in 2009 you know it's cyclical
everything kind of goes in a circle and then it became a huge 11 personnel
nickel defense league for a long long time and and now it feels like we're
kind of coming back to it so got to ride the wave got to figure out what works
and and obviously whatever personnel group you got out there you got to go
out there and execute and get it done but it was nice to get the big fellas on
the field yesterday pound the rock a little bit and usually when you have 38
rushes means you're leading the game you're doing things the right way so
happy to happy to be doing that
yeah and you got wide receivers that'll run through somebody's face too and I
know you're happy to get ooze back Ty has a question for you yeah Matthew how
has your relationship with Puka evolved since he got there I got to think it was
the Monday night game where he had you know 17 catches set a whole bunch of
records and I assume you know yes you guys ran the ball a bunch but with
Devante being out for a little bit here have you pulled Puka aside and been like
hey I don't know how much you watched when I was in Detroit but I'm gonna be
throwing you the ball 30 to 35 times a game so I'm gonna need you to do that
I'm gonna need you you know really locked in for these next several weeks
no I didn't have to say anything to him that guy knows he's getting the rock he's
he's a heck of a football player another guy on our team that everybody loves
love to be around him what he brings to our team energy wise on game day is
incredible like he said running through people's face sees his physical player
at the you know receiver position that I've ever been around and that's that's
when he catches it and runs it but I mean I bet people miss blocks where he's
going through the hole and he really has the safety but the linebacker shows up
and he just goes ahead and knocks that guy down too so I mean he's he's a
special player we're happy to have him but I think all those guys know when
Devante a player like that a Hall of Famer future Hall of Famer you know
goes down it's gonna be all hands on deck and those guys stepped up in a big
way yesterday you're the man we appreciate you joining us congrats on
all the success good luck the rest of the way we can't wait to watch you
continue to do your thing and congrats on another record dude you're gonna it
means you're old but congrats on another record yeah appreciate it fellas
always fun to come on with you guys you're the man ladies and gentlemen
that's NFL MVP Matthew Stafford that's all the way you get those records you
got to be old you know you got to be around a long time I like that he was
just as surprised as us man I could have the all-time leader here it feels like I
just got here yesterday it does feel like it was yesterday but I guess he's
been very prolific since the day he arrived as a Los Angeles Ram AJ playing
against Matthew Stafford his arm talent always there just a ridiculous tough
this about him yeah competitor yeah exactly I think that is this big thing
don't you think AJ yeah it's the the combination of the relentless competitor
that wants to win at all costs like we'll play through anything but also the
physical tools I mean that's why he's number one overall pick when you have a
guy that can have both like we know a lot of guys Pat like that are physical
freaks yeah they have all the tools but they just can't seem to put together
they don't have the drive or the competitiveness whatever it meant
whatever it is Matthew's one of those guys I think that has both he's the combo that will
compete to the death but he also has the physical tools and wants to win more
than anybody so yeah I was I guess unlucky enough to see that firsthand for
a long time when I was in Green Bay playing against him but also like had so
much respect for the dude watching him do it now when you see him doing it now
though he's not the dude's not slowing down at all like his arm strength is off
the charts and all the different arm angles and the platforms that I could he
throws from like he's still doing it all I don't think he should he should not
stop anytime soon I don't like that photo right there for Matthew Stafford
there he's got bad hand line there but he still looks unbelievable but the deep
but I want to ask you about this a lot of these older quarterbacks their arms
become noodles I mean it's happened we've Drew Brees said he wasn't strong
enough to come back when everybody wanted him to come back Matt Ryan at the
end of his career like his arm just couldn't do it anymore Phillip Rivers I
think it was like I can't get it at some point you're on just like kickers or
punters it happens where you just don't have enough explosiveness to be able to
do what you do Matthew Stafford and Aaron the old guard as we wrap up the
headline number four here they're still throwing it just as good as they did ten
years it doesn't make sense it kind of defies what's supposed to happen to you
but yeah some of these guys they'll be able to throw the ball forever like Aaron
Rodgers where there's Dan Marino could probably still throw the ball sixty
yards in the air Joe Flacco he's a guy who just has a gun for an arm so Matt
Stafford is one of those guys and then once he got to the Rams he mentioned it
like it was just a different evolution that he had to take with the run game
with the play-action game with move in the pocket so you have a guy that can
drop back and throw it sixty times and you're in trouble as a defense now when
you give him a run game in a play-action game that you have to worry about it can
become unstoppable now injuries have been a part of some of the things that
got in their way but the efficiency from them like they were five for five in the
red area I believe against the Raiders he's just he's unbelievable and as his
mind is kind of sped up his body and his arm haven't slowed down so yeah that's a
great great combination for a quarterback combination good for
Matthew Stafford a combination of two all-time leading passers for two
different franchises Super Bowl champ and an MVP that's first ballot we think
could be got up we thank you don't know now should be we don't know now hey do
you think all right let's go to number three headline maybe a future Hall of
Famer hey haha a small step for man a giant leap for JJ McCarthy who is just a
mean
okay if you got nined it means things are going real bad for you because he's
looking in the locker room and all the stuff that he thought he was supposed to
be or was portraying as he was if you don't win everybody's going to mock you
for it we watch it with Russell Wilson when he's in Seattle and he was winning
everything he was doing cool goes to Denver they don't win everybody calls
him corny it's kind of an interesting dynamic or a dilemma whenever you win
games everything's okay whenever you lose games people are going to kill you
so whatever JJ didn't become like a all-generational
side franchise player for the Minnesota Vikings when he got drafted there
everything he was doing before that was being praised is now embarrassing and
uh disgusting and a little bit of cringe and how can you do that this guy sucks
this guy stinks now jury's still out on whether or not he's going to be a great
NFL quarterback but his first game starting for the New York football Giants
he goes into overtime in Houston and gets a win now Malik neighbors has uh he's gone over 100
yards with five different uh quarterbacks I think that's the most since 2024. this guy
doesn't care who's throwing him the ball he's like Justin Jefferson he's like what uh new uh
DeAndre Hopkins was for a while it doesn't matter who's his quarterback he's going to perform he's
going to do his thing JJ McCarthy up boom nailed it happy that's still in there good for my brain
I like that we're still cooking at that type of in that type of fashion but JJ McCarthy could
have a whole new world here in the Giants organization Jackson Dart obviously injured
is their guy for the future but if JJ McCarthy can win games like he did in Houston there's going to
be some chatter about this JJ guy becoming a guy guy somewhere let's go to New York Giants fan
Bruce Brown Bruce he didn't nine himself after the game he actually gave a great post-game speech it
sounded a lot like Jameis Winston so we got a Jameis Winston JJ McCarthy Duo that's maybe
going to create the greatest JJ possible he's back with a hard ball is this the future for the Giants
JJ McCarthy Bruce Brown how's that conversation going amongst you Giants fans today uh yeah I
mean it is crazy to envision that we might have a quarterback controversy brewing for next season
with JJ McCarthy and uh and Jackson Dart but I'll be honest as 10-point dogs going into Houston Will
Anderson to Neil Hunter I thought we were cooked I thought we had a nice fun fourth quarter almost
come back against the Saints and that uh JJ was going to let us down here um but he was unbelievable
four on tight window throws I I guess we always knew that he had a bit of arm talent but just
seeing it um over the course of a full game where he's just humming it in there uh to to Malik to
Malachi Fields there um unbelievable and then the growth and maturity he was a little bit like
Jackson Dart his rookie year where he was he was putting his head in there he was diving for the
end zone uh getting banged up knocked out of games he took three sacks but largely he was composed um
in the pocket
and rid of the football uh and and didn't make any stupid decisions there wasn't a almost
interception he took care of the ball he took care of the program um and he opened up the run game
with uh a big motor there scataboo truck and everybody uh and Tyrone Tracy scoring as well
so it was probably the best regular season Giants win um that I can remember in the in the last few
years I wow I cannot believe it huge a massive now we're going into the bi-week
we have the the wounded Eagles on the other side of the buy in the driver's seat of the NFC East
it feels like we're having the first home playoff game at MetLife and it's all out there in front of
us thanks to young JJ stepping up yeah JJ McCarthy was nine now he's just fine for the Giants AJ the
NFC East is the NFC
least. So there's a chance this Giants team
can actually host a home playoff
game. And once you get in a dance, especially if you
have a run game, we've learned, who knows?
Is John Harbaugh the answer in New York
from his style of play? Or is J.J.
McCarthy the answer for the
New York Giants' success this year, A.J.?
That is on you to decide right now
on this every afternoon. Right now, that is tough to say. And for
Bruce saying he's 4-4 on tight window
passes, I'm not sure exactly what
constitutes a tight window.
That's definitely a tight window. But what's the
what's not a tight window?
No counting for you.
Is that a tight window? Boom!
That's a contested catch.
That's just a seed tight window.
Either way, 4-4 is got to be good.
Tight window.
So tight.
That's 2nd and 17.
2nd and 17, you're going to have to hit a
tight window 2nd and 17.
Boom! That window was
big, and then it got real tight.
2-for-2 on those things.
I bet you this next one is 3-for-3
on this tight window.
Here we go.
Here we go. We got a tight window here, no question.
No, it's evading.
That was extending the play.
It's like porn. If you see it,
you know what it is.
What?
What's that?
I don't know. There's a saying like that.
If it walks like a duck, it talks
like a duck. If you know a tight window, you know a tight
window. Yeah, but I don't think that's what you said.
I don't think that's what you said.
I said what I said.
Is this it?
No, that's an open window.
That was good play action. Good fake
bootleg. He throws it back across his
body. Maybe a blown coverage there, actually, but
he still was able to hit it.
On extended plays, he was 100%
in tight window throws.
That's tight window.
That's the tightest window you can find
right there.
That window was on the floor.
That's against the Texans.
This isn't just nobodies.
Pretty tight.
You know what I like seeing? We showed that clip
of John Hall.
Ball like hugging everybody falling on the ground.
How often do we get that during regular season
football games? You know, if you're a team that
is like, say you think of like the Patriots when
they're just going on the run, they're winning.
They're like if they felt like they weren't enjoying
any of the wins, like, yeah, it's fun to win.
That was the thing. Now, like, I think it's cool
when you get to actually celebrate regular season
wins because we don't really see this a whole lot
in the NFL except for teams that are like on the
rise or say they're terrible and they finally win
a game. And look at these guys sitting atop the
NFC East, especially, you know, because John
Harbaugh is trying to put in a culture.
They're and celebrating a regular season win is
a big deal. He might be scared to do that because
he doesn't want these guys to think like, hey,
this is Super Bowl for us. I like that. He
acknowledged the situation. I like that. Hey,
we're 10 point dogs. We're not supposed to win
this. We got JJ McCarthy. We just traded for him
two weeks ago. He's starting a quarterback as
the boys watch him give his speech there in the
back. I appreciate he gave him. I love you guys
there. And John Harbaugh, I don't think he was
scared to let the boys know, hey, we should be
enjoying the hell out of this. And Bruce got the
marching orders. You heard Bruce. This is the
biggest regular season.
When we've had in years, he said, D, but what
a time to be a Giants fan. And it is crazy. You
bring in a fresh, you know, fresh set of folks.
You know, Harbaugh comes in there, fresh building.
You bring in a mindset. We're going to run the
hell out of the ball. We're going to be great on
defense. We're going to be a hard-nosed culture.
We're going to be an accountability driven
culture. Things start going well. Then injuries
take place. Injuries take place. Next man. How
do you go ahead and do that? How do you continue
to be great? Even though the NFC East is shit.
Then JJ McCarthy comes in and he picks up right
where I think John Harbaugh wanted him to be. No
excuse.
Let's go win this game. Let's execute. Let's be
safe. It feels like the Harbaugh culture is
really something that the Giants are benefiting
from mightily. Very, very quick and very, very
early here.
Absolutely. Love Harbaugh showing that emotion
on the sideline. So we know the Harbaugh's a
football guy. That's why when his brother came
on, his Dauber was down. We're like, whoa, that's
not what we're used to seeing from these guys.
So now we see the Dauber's all the way up on
the New York Giants sideline. And yeah, JJ, you
know, stepped into somewhat of a tough spot. You
get into a team, you're kind of brand new and
then you're thrusting the ball. And then you
get into the starting position. But these are
the expectations you have when you're a first
round quarterback. And like Bruce said, for him,
you want to make him have to make a tough
decision when it comes when Jackson Dart is back
healthy and getting to an offseason. So you got
a fresh start. You got a fresh place. Shout out
to these coaching staffs, too, putting them in a
good situation. This game, this kind of game
script couldn't have gone any better for them.
He took care of the ball. He made throws, taking
three sacks. That's much better than making
terrible throws and creating turnovers. And then
the running game that we talked about, that was
our number five headline, the running game. Almost
20 yards rushing, you know, kind of a three-headed
monster back there. So it was a perfect storm. And
then the defense, their defense was an absolute
disaster last year. So bringing over Denard
Wilson, being our new D.C., Deontay Banks, Abdul
Carter is a game wrecker. Like it's just us up
and down this roster. So to see it actually turn
into wins and to be four, two and one, I think
right now sitting on top of the NFC East. I mean,
what a turnaround for the New York football
Giants. Yeah, they got a bye week coming up.
Scataboo is going to have to rest that hamstring.
We saw him open it up there. I appreciated him saying
I'll be back by then. And I appreciate Singletary
taking it home. The Houston Texans have a lot of
questions now. They roll to two and five. That is
not good. Never expected that out of them, especially
with how good C.J. Stroud is playing. And the New
York Giants, four, two and one. What an absolutely
absurd run. Congrats to J.J. McCarthy, potentially
rewriting his entire football life. Let's go to
the number two headline. And I'll tell you, it's a
tale of two different halves here. Borough,
Berries, Baltimore, Ravens, second half disaster,
disease. We're saying disease because it's not
just this week that this happened. Now, there was
a 35-point swing from the first half to the second
half in this particular game. Joe Burrow comes
alive. But if you go just in general, just in
general from the season, number one team in the
NFL with point differential, the Ravens in the
first half. Last worst team in the NFL, minus 70,
second half point differential. What the hell
happens, A.J., D-Butt? You guys know better than
me. They're going into the locker room at halftime
and saying, boys, let's play like ass in the
second half. What happens, A.J.? Why do you think
this is? And out of Joe Burrow in the Bengals side,
Jamar Chase allegedly at halftime went in there and
got after people's ass. They come out, they execute
in the second half and play the best ball they've
played all season. But the Ravens' second half
disaster, disease seems to be a real thing. If you
could just be close against the Ravens going into
halftime, allegedly second half, you can get the
win against them. That's a terrible thing to be
known for, A.J. Yeah, it really is. And I think
coaches are always trying to figure out what the
answer is. Like, what do you do? Like, we talk a
lot about this with the Ravens. You want to come
out and coach and say, okay, well, how do we do
that? You want us to go full go? Let's do goal
line in warm-ups. Like, what can you do to try to
spur that on? As far as for the Ravens, I don't
know what you're going to have to do at halftime,
what you're going to try to do to rally the troops
so this doesn't continue to happen. But to think
about getting shut out 35-0 in the second half,
like, that would never even cross your mind, I
think, in the locker room of a game that you are
leading. So I'm not sure. I give, I more point to
the Bengals and give them credit for turning it on
and figuring out a way. But, like, it is, it's
pretty drastic when you think about this Ravens
team, when they are, what they're doing in the
second half. Like, what, we all know, like, there's
not huge adjustments going on in the second half.
It's a 12-minute halftime. Like, you're not going
in there and making wholesale changes. Coaches
aren't given the, remember the Titans pump-up
speeches. So I'm not sure what the Ravens can do.
Bananas, orange juice?
Yeah, maybe bananas and orange juice would help.
Maybe that'll kind of benefit for all the boys.
No Lamar Jackson multiple weeks. That could be a
big piece of this because I think in the second half,
we'll wear you down and probably perform better.
But, Dee, but 135-point swing between the first
halves and the second halves for this Baltimore
Ravens team, that's crazy. Should we just be
crediting the other teams? Because we watched
the Baltimore Ravens pound the Colts week one.
Yep.
So they definitely have it in there.
So, you know, we're just not a good football team.
Who is doing that?
Yeah, who's not?
Not at all. Absolute shite.
Yeah, but you got, I mean, you got to look at, you
got to look at Joe Burrow, like you said.
God, we suck!
Sorry, go ahead. I wish we had.
I think he was like 16 for 18, for like 250 yards
in the second half. We know he wants to drop back
and throw the ball 50, 60 times a game.
So I like when a quarterback has that mindset
and wants to, hey, let me put it all on my shoulders.
We paid these two wide receivers because I said
so basically, so let me show you why.
So to put up 35 points for them and for the Ravens
just to not have an answer. I feel like this is
every time they play Joe Burrow for whatever reason.
I think Marlon Humphrey even said it before the game.
I wish I didn't match up with Jamar Chase so much,
which is wild to say as a starting quarterback.
In the National Football League. But he said it.
And I guess Joe Burrow and the Bengals came out
and showed him why. It wasn't just Jamar Chase.
Tee Higgins had a huge game. But I mean,
whoever's open, nine is going to find him.
But yeah, that's a very, very troubling stat
for the Ravens. And obviously, it's not just
Jesse Minter. This goes back to the hardball area
as well when it comes back to our second half
losing these leads. So it's crazy, man.
But shout out to the Bengals getting hot
in that second half.
Yeah, shout out to the Bengals. Still very much in it.
And Joey Burrow is unbelievable.
They got weapons galore. You know, the defense
and I think the Falcons are benefiting from this.
Defense hasn't really been the same since
Jesse Bates was kind of let out of the building.
If you go back, Jesse Bates broke a record
this weekend of some sort for the Falcons.
He is a weapon.
He leaves the Bengals a few years back.
That's when they started kind of. You know, that was kind of when it started.
This year's defense has a little different attitude.
Maybe the Bengals get back to the dance.
And let's go to the number one headline because it involves
the Bengals. Every team from the
North Divisions above 500.
First time ever.
Okay. Wow. First time ever.
Unbelievable stuff.
The North is just tough physical football.
Okay. You go back to the Big Ten.
They've won three of the last three national championships
with three different teams. The North is built
different. When you have to open the door and there's a little
chill in the air. Not that that's happened for some of these
teams yet. But when you go out there, so
don't let that get in the way of a good point.
Just makes you tougher and better at football.
AJ, your thoughts on the North being dominant
this year and maybe this is just what football
is going forward. Big Ten winning
national championship or the Big 12 team
from the
north and then afc and nfc north going to win the super bowl for the foreseeable future i guess i
mean this is something that you've been talking about for years if you remember going back to
the college football playoffs like teams from the north playing in the cold that's when they kind of
have their advantage if you think about though are we going to see the north and all these divisions
even continue to dominate as it gets colder the the weather gets colder it gets we got rain we're
wind all of this stuff when we have to like kind of rely on old school tough gritty football pound
the rock stop the run like i don't know we need to we're going to keep our eye on this for sure to
see if this is a trend that continues because right now the north's looking pretty damn good
we're going to keep two eyes from you two eyes for me i think the boys are going to have two eyes
if there if there's a one-eyed person watching in stereo they'll keep one eye on it because it
does feel like it is the run the rock era right now in the northern teams take care of the ball
don't beat yourself take care of the ball yeah like to force the other team to make the mistakes
yeah you're right yeah so maybe that's a philosophy that we need to dive into a little
deeper congrats to everybody in the north having
successful seasons the south different story uh we don't have to talk about it let's join
uh let's bring in somebody uh that can tell us a little bit more about everything that we maybe
we missed or something that needs to be talked about more senior nfl insider for esp in an nfl
network ladies and gentlemen adam shepter hey what's going on pat you're in philly huh yeah i'm
down here philadelphia it's not just me it's also gumpy boom god we're in philly uh oh look at that
hey we're in philly huh hey we just thought about having uh skinny joe's cheese steaks we just drove
right by skinny joe oh yeah he's skinny joe yeah yeah from my understanding it is that skinny joe
who could potentially give it to you if you need it but skinny joe's got some cheese steaks down
the road right next to the highway we might stop by there big dom sent a text anything you need
paisan i got you so we are in philadelphia and we are pumped to be here shepter is there going to
be some other people that are going to be in philadelphia or other cities than they are in
right now yesterday i was in philadelphia and i was in philadelphia and i was in philadelphia and i was in
philadelphia and i was in philadelphia and i was in philadelphia and i was in philadelphia and i was in
you obviously caught the eye of a lot of colts fans with your sunday countdown show where you say hey
here's the players that need to be watched before the trade deadline i immediately upon chris ballard
getting fired thought that we would be a very active bunch at the trade deadline but those
decisions are going to have to be made very very quickly by somebody because we don't have a lot
of picks we're obviously going to be turning over pretty big here we lose to the vikings now how
much more of that is a conversation because of our loss to the vikings and what is the reality of what
we can get for some of these guys and who else is going to be in philadelphia and we're going to be
maybe on the move chef d as i throw a lot at you well i think look the nfl trade deadline is two
weeks from tomorrow and in each of the last two years there have been 18 trades from october 1st
through the trade deadline this year we've gotten four so if we're going to apply what has happened
the last couple of years to this year we should be looking at about 14 more trades now again i think
double digit trades from now until the trade deadline is probably
realistic so i don't know 10 more trades and the colts lost yesterday at minnesota they play at
jacksonville and then come home from the dallas cowboys now if they could find a way to win at
jacksonville that might change some of the conversations but they lose on sunday and they
come home and lose to the cowboys and why are we holding on to certain players quentin nelson last
year of his contract is a free agent deforest buckner last year of his contract it's going to
be a free agent he's already talked like he would welcome a change
there are going to be interested teams the colts already traded their one to the jets
so if you want to replenish some draft capital there is a easy way to do it
chef i don't want to cut you off is there any way the coast can get a one for any of these guys
start with jonathan taylor yeah i i look here's what i would go back to when the panthers traded
christian mccaffrey i think that was to the niners if my memory serves me correctly it was a two and a
i i look and by the way they don't have to trade him jonathan taylor's the centerpiece of that team
i don't i don't think they get a one i just don't think they get a one
is it worth trading him for a two and a five whatever the christian mccaffrey package is i'd
have to look it up i mean to me that's the closest comp that we'd have right now who's the last
running back that got traded for one it was probably tell us frent richardson it was probably
frent richardson when the browns bring him to the colts for a one
and that didn't work out now it doesn't mean that this wouldn't work out for a one
i think there's going to be enough interested teams in jonathan taylor the question will be
whether the colts are willing to make a move but my guess is okay okay so so jonathan taylor's not
going to get us a one when we're in this running back heavy of uh nfl season right now how about
quentin else everybody needs a card now he he doesn't have we're not getting a one for any of
these guys now jonathan taylor it was reported that carly ursae gordon views him as a one
as a pillar of the indianapolis colts we did see jonathan taylor's wife talk about the realities
of being in trade discussions as a full family and everything like that it's very real it's happening
jonathan taylor said everybody's talking about it we are so if we keep jonathan taylor we're not able
to get a one are we just holding on to everybody and then going to hire an older coach like mike
mccarthy with the pittsburgh steelers situation just kind of try to ride the same guys that we've
had to a different outcome is that the goal you know by the way oh the the panthers when they
traded mccaffrey
you know by the way oh the the panthers when they traded mccaffrey
got back a two a three a four and a five so that was quite a lot actually there you go
it's a little different so everything but a one c max banged up a lot more than jonathan taylor
yeah jonathan taylor's in the middle of leading the nfl in touchdowns if he was getting a ball
when they traded mccaffrey that was in 2022 he was younger than how old is jonathan taylor right now
27 27 he looked it up yeah 27 young probably about
how old well again i i felt like the mccaffrey was the comp that was it that was it that was a two or
three a four and a five nice that's a lot that's a lot so you know maybe sub in there a one now
granted if we can't get a one i don't think you move on from jonathan taylor now no on that note
we haven't been able to win with jonathan taylor and that's why the general manager has gotten
fired so i think jonathan taylor is one of the best football players on earth i think he's
phenomenal i don't think the colts give him up for anything other than a one at least a one plus
something probably maybe they do get a one by the way like i'm just thinking the teams that are out
there right now uh you know the teams that'll talk about this like green bay seattle minnesota
denver the giants like just teams that potentially could use another running back
would they be willing to give up a one any one of them
I don't think Green Bay has their one.
They don't.
Right?
There you go, Ty.
And Minnesota probably does.
I don't know.
Are you willing to give up your one for a running back right now?
To win the bowl.
This is a running back season.
This is running back season.
Would definitely rather have a franchise quarterback.
But if not now, I don't know when a running back would be valued more.
But if I'm the Colts and I'm not getting at least a one,
I'm not even thinking about it with Jonathan Taylor because of how good he's been.
But follow-up, we do need a lot of pieces if we're going to do a full rebuild.
I mean, and we don't have a lot.
So, what an interesting couple weeks in Indianapolis.
Congratulations to whoever ends up with these guys
because of how good of football players they are.
But for whatever reason, it has not worked in Indianapolis,
whether it be injury or whether it be.
By the way, Miami fired Chris Greer last year,
and then they wound up trading him before the deadline.
They traded Jalen Phillips to Philadelphia,
and then they held on to Jalen Waddell and traded him in the offseason
once they had a new GM.
So, I mean, there's a lot of different directions this could go.
I think once the names start coming up,
and there's Ed Dodds walking in yesterday.
And Sweats, come on, bro.
He's getting the job if he's that comfy.
Come on, bro.
Is that brown paper bag his life?
I know he's super cool.
I wear tank tops.
I dress like an asshole.
I'm not the general manager of an NFL team.
So, I understand you're super cool.
I like this guy.
Thank you for showing up, being comfortable, being cool.
You're super cool.
I do like it.
But I don't like any of it.
Got the orange slices in the brown bag.
Yeah, bologna sandwich.
All right.
For the boys.
Gross.
Guy shows up in sweats the first.
Was he always in sweats?
And if he was always in sweats and he says,
this is just what I always do, it's like,
well, what you always do, got the guy you work for fired.
So, maybe we change it a little bit.
I think he had cargo shorts on at practice the other day.
He looks sick.
I don't mind those either.
At practice, it's cool.
You've got pockets.
You know, he needs different pens and graphs and everything.
Yeah, I respect that.
I just think showing up at a game is your first.
It's a general manager job.
It's like I try to not dress like an asshole for Saturday morning television
because I'm on Saturday morning television.
So, let me at least pay a little bit of respect to the people.
It's like you're an NFL general manager right now.
You've dreamed of that.
And you say, you know what?
I'm wearing sweats into the game.
I'm like, all right, sweet.
Better win and we lose.
So, I just – nothing seemingly goes right for the Colts
whenever they try it at this point.
Maybe a full turnover will help us.
Thank you for the info, Shefty.
There's another turnover potentially happening in Las Vegas.
Go ahead, AJ.
Shefty, yeah, Fernando Mendoza.
Are we going to see him thrust into the lineup there?
I know Coach Kubiak has kind of made some comments.
Like, what do you expect there?
Well, he did – he left the door open there, AJ.
And they asked him about it after the game.
And he acknowledged that they're going to talk about all these things.
So, that's a yes, right?
It's always yes when we hear this, right?
It usually means we're going in.
that that's the whole point right when like they asked shane steiking yesterday about dang no
daniel's our quarterback they asked clint kubiak it's like we're evaluating everything which
usually tells you here's what i would say change is coming we just don't know whether it's this
week next week the week after now this week they play out the jets right so you say well this is a
great week to do it they play the jets who lost to the dolphins who hadn't held a lead at any point
in the season going into that game and then led the entire game and won the game against the jets
so you say well this would be a great week to start fernando mendoza but look at the rest of
the schedule after this week wolves at san francisco home for seattle at denver actually
like that is a brutal schedule i i mean i would think just looking at that you'd want to get to
week 13 and by the way the raiders are still
three
and four and kirk has played well he's played well yeah now look they may decide it's time to
get the number one pick some reps what i've loved is every time there's a team that drafts a
quarterback number one they all say almost all of them we're not rushing you know we're going to
take our time and then each of the last six quarterbacks picked number one up until this year
started the opener and so the raiders have been like we're not going to rush them along we're
not going to rush them along we're not going to rush them along we're not going to rush them along
so to me that sounded like a guy who's contemplating change that change could be as early as this week
certainly sounds like it's coming at some point in the future and we'll see when they decide to
make the actual change kirk cousins has been the perfect example of what fernando could or should
become as a starting quarterback if fernando can just utilize you know what he was gifted with by
god uh which is size an incredible mental uh capacity a great arm and some toughness which
he displayed at indiana and he's been a great example of what fernando could or should become
not that kirk doesn't have those things but fernando number one overall pick for a reason
all the intangibles but kirk cousins talking about what he's supposed to do day in and day out for
fernando knowing that it's on its way after a loss in a hard situation with what kubiak just said
about opening the door perfection shout out to kirk cousins for that let's stick with the raiders
though before this trade deadline ty has a question for you chefty yeah chef that we talked a little
bit before the season started about everything with max crosby when the trade with the ravens
fell through if they do continue to lose here do you think there's a chance that
some of these teams who are really trying to be aggressive and make a push will call and kind of
kick the tires on him you know we've heard about the bears really wanting to get a piece for their
d-line maybe the cowboys like is there a world where we could see max crosby potentially get
moved before the trade deadline if we're going to play matchmaker here today just play matchmaker
and and again it takes two to tango to me true chicago khalil mac makes sense that's the one that
that i i mean bring him back to chicago the
bears right now are a really good team mac has played there like dallas cowboys they got to win
some games here to bring in some talent if they could get a win tonight if they could find a way
to win a couple of these upcoming games before the deadline josh sweat would make some sense to
me out in arizona right like that that i could see that being in play um so max crosby the issue
there is he means so much that franchise he was the one that was forcing the forcing the issue in
the offseason and he was the one that was forcing the issue in the offseason and he was the one that
wanted to be traded initially the raiders balked and then they found two ones and i just don't think
they're getting that back now like he's an unbelievable player i don't think they're
getting two ones and so maybe it just makes sense to hold on to particularly again they're three and
four they're three and four if they could find a way to win the jets game on sunday they're four
and four like you don't want to sell off you know the heart and soul of your team the face of your
franchise you don't want to do that um and i don't know that anybody would give up enough to make it
happen so i don't want to sell off the heart and soul of your team the face of your franchise
don't rule out anything in this but at that the trade talks surrounding max crosby to me have lost
a little bit of steam i would love to have max crosby on the colts yeah we don't have any ones
to give up but we would certainly love him on our team raiders also found themselves with
potentially their best setup for the future and their best player coming back after one day with
the baltimore ravens let's pivot over to kansas city patrick mahomes and andy reed they have a
running back even though he didn't have a great game last night do they have the weapons to be
able to go win a super bowl d-butt has a question for you chef yeah they've been at mount the top
multiple times but a huge lack of production at the wide receiver position i believe only 39 yards
last night obviously i have some injuries there are they in the market for a wide receiver in the
trade you know they have been calling around and i don't think it would be a surprise to see
them continue to attempt to add a wide receiver before the trade deadline two weeks from tomorrow
whether they can get it done we'll see i think the bigger issue last night we talked about on
get up this morning was the offensive tackle position they had two new offensive tackles in
i couldn't uh keep the defense away from patrick mahomes couldn't mount the ground game that they
have in other years and they kind of feed off each other right if the the protection's coming
then the run game's thriving and just none of that work last night when they didn't reach the red zone
a single time for the first time in patrick mahomes nfl career so i think it was just all out of whack
they're still five and one they just got beat last night happens with most everybody but the 72 dolphins
i would think that this team still is a favorite in the afc but i do think that they'll be calling
around on wide receivers and they will attempt to look to upgrade that position okay let's talk
about a team that could potentially be looking to improve the future because of where they sit
right now con man has a question about one of these monday night teams yeah chef g philadelphia
it feels like they're the next kind of colts situation type team where they got money kind
of going places but also at the same time they they really are heading down a bad path where
they might be selling everything lynn and dickerson one of those players that already
came out and kind of said like hey i don't know if i'm the long-term option at guard you got to ask
howie or coach sirianni what is your kind of thoughts around philly do you think they will
be sellers they seemingly would be a team that could ship kansas city to debuts point a wide
receiver like hollywood brown maybe what are your thoughts around philadelphia i always look at the
eagles general manager harry roseman they may be construed as sellers and i'm sure they're going to
be open
to making deals that work for the franchise but i also think that if howie roseman saw an
opportunity that he wanted a player he liked and it was a good value he would never hesitate
to move in that direction and give up picks even if the season is not working out so i know the
eagles are one of these rare teams i would never put them in a category of just sellers ever like
they're always going to be buyers and sellers they're usually not sellers and we don't
know what they will be this year but i could see them being both i could see them trading a player
i could see them acquiring a player it all depends on what's going to upgrade that roster
i just put a mentos in my mouth it's really got me in quite a uh fresh baker chinese finger trap
did you did you guys know that these things were this what happens oh they're potent they're potent
never had one you drink coca-cola with it they're super sticky they're super sticky i mean it is
my my teeth in the back are sticking together i'm sorry for battling over here i just wanted to
a fresh maker you know what mentos is uh anything else about tonight that we need to know between
these two nfc east uh goliaths who have one win in the last eight games between the two of them
it sounds like saquon barkley has a real chance to play tracking to play which would be good news for
the philadelphia eagles they need to upgrade an offense that has six six first downs in the third
quarter in six games played not very good right they got to find a way to get that going they're
that way that may be a multi-week absence on davante smith no davante no don tavian wick so
uh you're gonna have to have darius cooper and mckay lemon step up tonight along with
dallas goddard to beat dallas you're the man that's adam shifter ladies and gentlemen

- We're joined now by a man who talks about football
all day, every day.
- So much.
Gentlemen, former backup and starting quarterback in the NFL, Dan Orlovsky.
Dan Orlovsky.
What's up, fellas?
Dan, back in the Thunderdome is A.J. Hawk, obviously,
college football national champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner.
We appreciate you, A.J.
Double cup in that coffee.
I like the way you operate, sir.
The talk show table is there as well, Dan.
I think you know these guys.
At Boston Corner and at Ty Schmidt.
Conman likes to say hello to you with the double B sign.
What's up, Dan?
What's up, Brian?
What's up, bro?
What's up, bro?
He said he was going to do that yesterday.
I can't believe he actually did do that.
Then one half of the hammer died.
Cowboys, A.P. Tone.
Is there, Tone, anything to say to Dan Orlovsky?
Hey, Dan.
Love you, Dan.
Miss you, Dan.
Love you, too.
Miss you as well.
Really?
Because he used to be a big-time Steelers hater,
and a lot of Steelers fans did not like you.
Tone, how do you feel about Dan this year with the way he's talking about
the Mike McCarthy-led pitch?
Listen, Dan was just watching ball.
He was watching the tape, and his opinions were based on the tape,
and you can't fault him for that.
Okay?
Now he's right.
Yeah, but Dan, didn't he say something about Mike McCarthy being a terrible
hire or something like that?
Did you say that, Dan?
Absolutely not.
Yes, you did.
You know you cannot do that, dude.
I never said that.
It was kind of like that.
I never said that.
He said it was stale.
Stale choice.
Don't lie.
You remember?
You remember?
Is that the phrasing I use, the word stale?
I believe so.
Yeah, you said, why are we hiring this old?
Fat.
What?
You kind of said that.
I never said that.
Good hire.
Good coach.
Good hire.
Okay, great hire.
It's working out right now.
Who knows how the season will end.
Aaron Rodgers passes Peyton Manning, and then also Matthew Stafford now
becomes the all-time leading passer, touchdowns passer for two different
franchises.
Absurd what the old guard is doing.
Let's talk about the younger guard here, shall we?
J.J. McCarthy.
Tell me about none, and tell me about his New York Giants performance,
because you've got Bruce Brown back there who's a Giants fan.
Yeah.
He's saying, oh, I don't want to forecast too far in the future.
I am Joe DiNardo fan, but we might have a quarterback controversy in the New
York Giants organization.
Dana, what say you, pal, after one dub for J.J. with the Giants?
Best game J.J.'s played, I think the thing that stood out was he just had
very clear reads, you know?
Like, now that's partly a Houston problem.
I don't know if I've ever seen a unit go from so dominant to so bad in one
year.
This is partly a Houston thing, but J.J. McCarthy had a clear understanding
of, like, okay, ball's going there.
Okay, ball's going there.
And that's why you saw, like, one, two, three, ball came out.
Some of those out routes to fields that created big plays, obviously the
ball down the sideline to neighbors on multiple times.
So it was getting to the line of scrimmage, the defense just lining up in
a very clear coverage of what they were going to run.
And J.J.'s saying, it's basically recess.
My guy versus your guy.
I know where I'm going with the football.
You saw some sprinkle of athleticism, one climb up in the pocket.
That clip right there was nice.
Down in the red zone, they did the zone read that allowed for the touchdown.
And then I think the thing that became even more evident as an offense was
they said to Houston, we don't think your secondary can tackle our back.
And that's kind of how they end the game with a couple big runs.
So I thought it was a hallmark win for the Giants and a clear thing of, like,
hey, we know who we are as a football team, and I think they're the only team
in the division that can say that on both sides of the ball.
Giants are the leaders of the NFC East, seemingly on their way to hosting a
home playoff game.
And don't look now.
Who's leading the AFC North?
Connor has a question for you, Dano.
Yeah, Dano, that'd be the Cleveland Browns and Todd Monken's boys,
as you would say.
What a win for Cleveland.
Deshaun Watson, another game-winning drive.
Kind of unbelievable what has happened to this Browns offense.
What are you seeing from them?
Obviously, Fannin, Concepcion, and Denzel Boston, two rookie wide receivers
for them, who's been great.
Here's Harold Fannin, Jr., second-year tight end, who's kind of been their
bell cow.
And then Judkins, he has two Russian touchdowns yesterday for the Cleveland
Browns as well.
What are you seeing from their offense that makes you think, you know,
this is sustainable, this isn't just, you know, early quarter of the season?
Cool story.
Yeah, one, they got the best young quadruplets in the AFC,
because you mentioned all four of them.
So the two rookie receivers, Boston and Concepcion, are awesome,
and they're different.
You know, Boston's that big frame, your true kind of like one-on-one
outside receiver.
Concepcion is so special when it comes to work in the middle of the field,
the way that they use him to get the ball, or get different touches.
So that's two out of the four.
Then Fannin's a freak, man.
That final catch that he gets to get them in the field goal range is unreal.
And Fannin's just sheer athleticism.
Like, to be running that short and pluck that ball behind you,
catch it at the 50, and I think he gets down to like the 18-yard line
or something like that, yards after the catch, unbelievable play.
And then Judkin.
So the young quadruplets that they have are awesome.
I think the second thing is, this offensive line's a good unit.
Like, this is a much-improved offensive line since it was,
or in comparison to like two or three years ago.
And then Monken just is.
This offensive scheme that he runs, boys,
is like a little bit of like the Baltimore sprinkling stuff of Lamar Jackson,
some of the design potential gun quarterback runs,
some of the four-by-one, with a little bit of old school of like,
here comes the run game at you.
And so very impressed by them.
Very impressed by them.
And on a day when their defense did not have their fastball.
And Deshaun has played good football and great football when it matters the most.
I'm so impressed with them being five and two.
Have you ever been to a party at Deshaun Watson's house?
No.
They're having another.
I guess they're having another one.
I saw photos.
He's got food trucks outside of his castle.
I mean, they are looking forward to the party.
That's Todd Monken, head coach, going, hey, party at Deshaun's house again?
They're doing that.
Feels like the team is rallying behind closed doors.
Whenever all training camp, the conversation was, divide this team.
Who's going to be the quarterback?
Todd Monken has done a phenomenal job of leading them.
And Deshaun Watson, I feel like, is a guy that they're all rallying around on the field.
And off the field, which I don't think any of us could have predicted.
On the field, play-wise, I think that's probably one of the bigger surprises
through the first half of the season is Deshaun's played good football.
And he's gotten better and better week by week and week.
And it was shocking because in the preseason, it was not good.
And then the press conference happens, and I was like, get rid of him.
I don't think you should have him on the team.
That and the play.
That and the play.
That and the play.
And the play has gotten better and better.
And so I said this, like, you have to give credit where it's due.
Deshaun's played good football.
Even his interception yesterday is not on him.
It's on his rookie receiver, Boston.
So, yeah, it's obvious that Monken's got the team playing in the right way.
And it's no fluke that they're sitting at the top.
There's a party at Deshaun's.
That's what it looks like.
His wife helped piece it together, I guess.
And the Browns are showing up in a huge way.
They are married, I believe.
I just saw from that video.
I believe that's what that finger does.
Mm-hmm, that's right.
That is, whoa.
Congrats to them.
That's unbelievable.
But, yeah, becoming a franchise quarterback is not just on the field.
It's also off the field.
It's your relationships you have with everybody.
How do you build everybody up?
Can they trust you?
Feels like in Cleveland, Todd Monken's done that very quickly.
Now let's talk about trust with two teams that we've absolutely loved
but might be a little bit worried about.
Deebutt has a question for you, Dano.
Yeah, two teams, great play call to the head coaches.
The 49ers and the Chiefs, also great quarterbacks.
I guess going forward, my question would be, which offense are you
more concerned about?
Obviously, Mike Evans banged up, so not a ton of production,
wide receiver, wide.
Kansas City.
For the Niners, and then Kansas City.
Okay, guess that's your answer.
Why?
Yeah, because I think it was clear last night.
If you're going to run into teams that can minimize your run game,
you're not good enough on the perimeter to go to where you believe
you're capable of going.
And so you watched Seattle last night, awesome run defense,
and it's a rare run defense, but awesome run defense.
Your pass game's not going to beat us.
And you saw it.
Now, Patrick, I thought, look, unsettled more than he has in the past.
Absolutely.
But this isn't a pass game at the perimeter that Patrick's a bottom 10
quarterback when thrown to receivers right now.
And that's not a Patrick thing.
That's a receiver thing.
And if you think of, okay, you've got to play New England.
They're going to do everything they can to stop your run.
Jacksonville, they're going to do everything they can to stop your run.
Cleveland, they're going to do everything they can to stop your run.
When you're going to have to go through those teams,
it's very clear that you're not good enough on the outside to go
kind of make a playoff run.
And so that would be my bigger kind of concern.
San Francisco's going to get healthy, I believe.
And San Francisco, the takeaways, that was the big thing yesterday,
was just giving the ball away and taking points off the board.
So way more concerned about Kansas City.
Okay, Kansas City last night was a big-time dud
against that Seattle Seahawks defense.
We love them.
Speaking about defenses that are dominant, Minnesota Vikings,
they are undefeated right now.
But the offense is historically bad, I do believe.
A.J. has a question for you, Dano.
Yeah, how do you feel about this Vikings team, Dano?
Obviously.
26-0 defense playing awesome.
But is this a sustainable way for them to continue to go
and make a run in the playoffs?
Absolutely not.
That offense will get them beat when it matters.
There's no doubt about it.
The defense is absolutely spectacular.
Excuse me, but this offense.
You okay?
You okay?
Because Kevin O'Connell is such a good offense coordinator.
We think he can win with anybody.
And then we got five touchdowns in five weeks.
It's like one of the worst things we've ever seen.
And then we watched J.J. McCarthy yesterday, and we're like.
Wait a minute.
J.J. McCarthy with John Harbaugh is like this?
Instead of winning, he's with Kevin O'Connell?
What's going on?
What's going on over there, Minnesota?
These years.
Listen, I would tell you, when I watch Minnesota State,
and I've said this all season.
Look at this.
Before the Great Depression.
The roaring 20s.
And this is an offense with Justin Jefferson, Addison, Hawkinson.
Aaron Jones is good and got hurt.
Jordan Mason.
It's shocking.
So I've been saying this for weeks now with this offense.
It ain't good enough.
Okay?
All right.
And I would tell you.
I can tell you one thing.
Offensive line, pass protection
And run game, not good
So when you don't have that offensive line
To do that, it's hard to kind of
Sync plays together
To build concepts off of each other
I think the second thing is
And this is probably the most surprising part
Is there's a lot of plays
When no one's open
I'm just being straight up and honest
There's a lot of plays when guys aren't open
And I would love to sit here and tell everybody
This is all on Kyler Murray
But there's a bunch of clips where there's four or five guys out
Why would you love to say that?
Because everyone
Always blames quarterbacks
And oh my gosh, Josh and Jefferson open
I think there's three or four clips
When there's a miss by the quarterback
Guys are open and he misses the throw
Bet you love that
Right now, the best play
That Minnesota does offensively
Is Kyler scrambling
That's the best play they do
And so no, there's not a sustainability to that
Because if your best play
Is your quarterback running
That eventually will get you beat
Well, the Colts defense hasn't been necessarily world beaters
So the fact that the Vikings
Weren't able to get going against them
I think does make you wonder how the rest of the year goes
But they get another win
They remain undefeated
And Brian Flores continues to be an absolute animal
Now let's stay in the NFC North
Because we watched a great battle between two of their giants
Go ahead, Ty Schmidt for Dano
Yeah, Dano, unfortunately that Packers-Lions game
The big takeaway today is just everyone talking about
The refs
But after kind of digesting that entire game
What do you think about both of those teams
Kind of moving forward
Looks like the Lions got back on track a little bit
At least with their defense
And as it stands right now
All four NFC North teams are in the playoffs
Yeah, Ty, I'll start with Detroit
Four playoff caliber teams in the division
Absolutely three with great offenses
One with a great defense
Detroit won
Quarterback is playing out of his mind
14 touchdowns, 12 sacks, no interceptions
There's no quarterback
And football in the play-action pass game
Playing better than Jared Goff
And we've gone for a decade
And everyone has said
Sean McVay, Jared Goff
Ben Johnson, Jared Goff
Maybe Jared Goff's just a really freaking good quarterback
Okay, so let's put that out there
They're so talented on the perimeter
Everybody knows that
Gibbs is sensational
The receiver core
Receiving core has been fantastic
I think the more impressive part was yesterday
With Kelvin Shepard's defensive performance
I thought it was the best defensive performance by Shepard
From a quarterback
From a call perspective
So many different calls
Corner pressure
Quick pressure
Linebacker blitz
Different cover sixes
So quarters to one side
Cover two to the other side
And I think just their guys made plays in the football
Down the field
More than Green Bay's did
Having Brian Branch back
Completely changed this defense
Completely changed
Both in the pass and the run
He's got a couple plays where he fills the run
Which is great
So, you know, very intrigued by Detroit
Coming off the defense
The defensive performance
And then for Green Bay
Tom, with you, like, yes
I think two things can be true
The officiating stinks
And it's costed them two games
And some questionable calls
But catch the freaking football, man
I'm so tired of it
And make kicks
Yeah, I'm in no way blaming that on the refs, either
Yeah
Contributed to it
But like Pat said
Like, Trace Mack has missed seven kicks
I think the stat that everyone was showing is
There's been one other kicker who's missed a field goal
35 and in this year
He missed two yesterday
He makes both those
They win the game
And or
Isn't it, Ty
Don't they lead in the last two years
The NFL in dropped passes and field goals missed?
Yes, and also this year
They lead the NFL in total penalties
They have 65 flags for 546 yards
Let's blame the officials, sure
But like, you got a quarterback that is
Throwing, just throwing the football
Probably as good as anybody in the league
Just as far as throws
And your team leads the NFL in drops
So how much are we actually going to blame the officials?
Your team leads the NFL in penalties
So
As much as I love them
And I can get high on them
Like anybody else
Catch the freaking ball
How many yards, Ty?
How many yards is there as penalties?
546
That's a lot of yards
And I think if you calculated
Hembo sent me this
There's no quarterback that has lost more yardage
Than Jordan Love off drops
I don't doubt that
Yeah, so you're talking about two categories
That are in somewhat controllable elements
And no one is hurting themselves more than Green Bay
I loved how much Tom Brady hated these roughing levels
Of the passer calls
Because he's an owner, okay, of a team
So obviously his voice carries some weight
He's a lead commentator for Fox
So his voice carries a lot of weight
And he's the greatest of all time
And he plays quarterback
It's just like whenever J.J. Watt got pissed off
About a cut block during his game
It's like he's Hall of Famer D. Lineman
Talking about that
Now you've got the greatest quarterback of all time
Talking about the roughing the passer calls
I think that's how we can enact some change
These refs, though, are starting to become
A topic of conversation for some of these things
And that is, you know, it's not just about the roughing the passer calls
It's about the roughing the passer calls
It's about the roughing the passer calls
It's not good news
I'm about sick of hearing Gene Stareitor have to come on and explain
Why the hell these refs are doing what they're doing
I love Gene, we all would like more of Gene
But it does feel like the refs are starting to become
A little bit more of a topic on these
Overreaction Mondays than I appreciate, Dano
Yeah, and I think, we were on this morning
There's something like
A record-breaking amount of offensive penalties
Have been accepted so far this year
I wanted to say it was somewhere in the 600 range
And there's been over a thousand flags thrown
I know you guys have done this
On the show in the past, but
I watched a lot of the games
I watch the games right now
Honest to God
And third down comes
And if the third down stop happens
I automatically expect the yellow flag to pop up
For defensive passer interference
Or if the third down conversion happens
I'm going, here comes a holding call
And it kind of dulls those third down moments
Just as a fan
Right now, from the viewership element of like
Here comes some stupid flag that is going to be questioned
Agreed, we all think that
That's not how we want to view it
We love watching ball
Well, and third downs, like those big moments
You're like, oh my gosh, third down
It's a four point game in the fourth quarter
And I'm waiting like, okay
Here comes a flag that's going to get thrown
It's going to dull like the stop or the conversion
It's going to completely change the game
Third and ten, third quarter, three point game
NFC North battle
And we'll do this
I guess he could have stopped
But that's nowhere near big enough
To extend a drive for a team
To potentially change the outcome of a game
Which I think is what everybody is talking about
Absolutely
It's like by the letter of the law
He puts his head down
He does hit him in the sternum
It is a bit late
But is that
Should that be rewarded with
A drive extender
And maybe changing the entire outcome of a game
Yeah
Just need a little bit more feel there
I like that Tom is hammering it
Now the Detroit Lions
You talk about that Jared Goff
Lack of respect
There's a stat that just dropped about him
About the amount of touchdowns he's thrown
Without an interception
Fourteen right now
Which ties Russell Wilson
And then it's one more than Drew Brees of 2018
So these are the heydays
For Russell Wilson and Drew Brees
Most touchdowns through the first six games
Without an interception
Jared Goff has fourteen of them
Nobody's talking about Jared Goff right now
Jared Goff gets a huge win
Huge win over the Packers
And the running back that they have
Could have scored another touchdown
He decides to go down
Jameer Gibbs will join us tomorrow
At 1230
Cannot wait to talk to him
About what this Lions team is
And if their defense can play
Like you just said
Like they played yesterday
This Lions team could be for real down the stretch
Especially with MCDC
He needs to figure it out though
On when to go for it
When not to go for it
I like him going for it
On fourth and one there
The one where
What about earlier
When it was fourth and five
And they could have kicked the field goal
It was 14-14 game
Or 17-14 game
Fourth and five
They throw it to Jameo in the back
Oh yeah yeah yeah
Jameo this one
This one right here
This one
Take the points
Yeah so
Yes I think the take the points thing
Now if you told me
Well our defense was playing so well
And if we don't get it
We're going to back them up
But I agree
17-14 game
You make that a two possession game
Or at least a touchdown game
Yeah I agree
Yeah I think you kicked the field goal there
So
This one I think is smart
Okay so you like this one in your own end
Yes
17-17
Yeah because 17-17
If I don't get it
I'm giving myself a greater chance
To get the ball back
Rather than if I punt the football back to you
I may never see it again
Or if I do
Such a short period of time
So
I think that's a smart decision
As far as like
Playing the long game
Coach Tomlin said that last night
As well
So I guess we can
This is like when you go
Put up a shot
Before the play clock
Gets to a certain time
At the end of the half
If we get this ball
To Jordan Love
We assume he's going to be able
To get into field goal range
To make a kick
With four minutes late
Yeah two for one
Is what it's called
So I understand
How that can be a take
Okay
Trace Mack makes that kick
Right there
Everybody's going to say
MCDC's a doofus for doing this
Now
Kick gets blocked
Great play by the defense
But MCDC football
Has bit him in the ass
And has made him who he is
So
I guess you live by the sword
Die by the sword
Foxy how do you feel
About that huge Lions win
Yesterday over the Packers
Yeah that was the biggest win
In the post Ben Johnson era
That win proves to me
That this team
Is different than last year's team
This team can actually
Make the playoffs
First and foremost
And contend in the playoffs
I love what Jared Goff is doing
And a guy that's not getting
Any credit
That wasn't a second
Sexy hire in the offseason
Is Drew Petzing
The offensive coordinator
He has been awesome
This offense is awesome
He's got Penn A. Sewell
Running routes
That was sweet
And then also
I'm going to quietly
Give a shout out
To Calvin Shepard
In the defense
They played so much better
Coming off
I always say that
I think I'm saying it right
But I always say it
And they just played way better
Coming off the bye week
Which we all needed to see
So that was awesome
And then last but not least
As a fan
Shout out to the refs man
It's awesome being on the right side
Yeah
Of a bad officiated game
Shut up
As a Lions fan
This never happens to us
Especially against
The Green Bay Packers
Shout out to the refs
That was awesome
That was great
Okay
Yeah
Everybody always talks about
The teams that get screwed
That's normally the Lions
So shout out to you guys
Getting the benefit
From the refs
Doing their thing
Was that a skinny Joey call
That you made up there
In Detroit
A little mob talk
Up there with the refs
Benefiting the Detroit Lions
Foxy
Perhaps
Perhaps it was
A skinny Joey call
But if you own a
cheese steak store, would you trust a guy named Skinny Joey
or would you want a guy named Fat Joey?
That was my first question.
It was ironic.
Oh, he's a big boy, I assume?
Yeah, they call him Skinny, but he's a fat Joe.
No, actually, Skinny Joey, I think, pretty skinny.
Yeah, I don't think he was that.
I'm looking at a picture of him.
Dana, maybe you dress like Skinny Joey, may I?
Maybe a ratty, a little paisan.
Do you eat cheese steaks, or are you weird about that?
I love cheese steaks.
Down in Philly, we always go to D'Alessandro's.
Yeah, Dana!
Best fucking cheese steak in town!
Yes, he certainly gets it.
We'll be having a lot of those.
Loves that one.
Got him.
How do you do that, man?
Just instantly, the quick. He's from Delco.
Ty, will you please tell Dana a little bit about Delco
and how the Johns operate around here?
Well, you know, guys like what Dana would. I believe your wife's a Philly gal, right, Dana?
Yeah, exactly.
So, you know, these tourists come in, you know,
you set freaking, I'll tell you where he's going to be.
Now he's going to go down to Gino's and Pat's,
like all these other rum-dums.
I try to tell him, no, get out of the city,
get away from the fucking link,
go down to D'Alessandro's and get yourself
an actual Philly cheese steak, okay?
They just make them better up there.
Must be something in the water or something.
Yeah, water.
What about Skinny Joey's, though, Ty?
Have you been to Skinny Joe's yet, Ty?
Skinny Joe's is not bad, you know.
You don't know what they're putting in there.
I mean, if you like. If you like. If you like, you know,
someone hawking a loogie in your cheese steak, maybe.
I'm a whiz, not wit guy, you know, so. And I don't know if they do that.
I think they do, like, the provolone
with the chopped peppers and the onions in that.
So, I mean, I don't know.
You know, I'm not really a Skinny Joey's guy.
Like these boys are saying,
if I'm getting the cheese steak,
I want a big, sloppy, fat guy
giving me my cheese steak,
not some skinny bastard, okay?
I don't trust. Well, I trust Skinny Joe.
I'm going down there and I like him.
So. The first time I ever went to D'Alessandro's
with my wife. You ever been there?
I would assume you guys have never. We've been to D'Alessandro's.
All right, so. This is probably 15 years ago.
Time and time again.
I hadn't. I had never been there before.
And so my wife was like,
hey, you got to go in and order for us.
Oh.
I had never done this before in my life.
So my stupid rear end walks in
and I'm standing, like, in line.
You got to know what's that.
Like, that long, thin. I think so.
Like, um. Restaurant.
And I'm standing there
and this lady from the back
looks at me dead in the eye.
She goes, what do you want?
And I'm like. She talking to me.
She's like, what do you want?
And I'm like, fudge, dude.
So I go, can I get a cheesesteak
with American cheese?
Dude.
Yeah, right.
This lady wanted to shoot me in the face.
And my wife is just behind me laughing
because she totally set me up.
And she was. I was like, what are we. She's like, whiz, wit out?
And I'm like, ah. I totally panicked.
But now you love it?
I love it, but I only get cheese on it.
Yes.
Are you a vet, though?
You walk in there right now,
they say, hey, big, tall, weird looking. No, no, no, no.
I don't do the ordering.
I'm not going to handle those moments best.
Good idea.
Yeah.
Now, you're a quarterback in the NFL.
You should handle those moments
while communication and such.
I don't know if that's something. You know?
Mm-hmm.
You should be able to handle
somebody asking you what type of cheesesteak. I honestly haven't been back
during a couple years, so. I haven't had a carb in a while,
so obviously I wouldn't do that.
Dan, you look fantastic.
We appreciate you.
You know who else looked fantastic
for one half of football?
Bengals.
Boom.
Diggs has a question for you.
Yeah, they did, Dan.
I saw Burrow's sack rate right now is 4.2%,
which you said is a huge deal.
They're protecting him this season.
They looked really, really good
in the second half with Tee and Jamar
and literally everyone getting involved.
Their schedule is very, very favorable upcoming.
How do you feel about the Bengals right now
and moving forward?
Yeah, one, first time in forever,
at least as long as I've been in this business,
that the Bengals dominated Baltimore
on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
I thought Cincinnati's offensive line
completely controlled Baltimore's defensive line.
And then vice versa,
Cincinnati's defensive line
dominated Baltimore's offensive line
and didn't give up any of the big runs
to Derek for the most part.
I think what happened in the second half,
Tone, was they just decided,
hey, we're going to put Tee and Jamar
away from each other.
They're going to double Jamar
or lean to Jamar or rotate Jamar and Tee.
You're just going to work.
Now, the second part of that
is they went at Wiggins big time.
Now, Wiggins is a nice player,
but it was very clear that Joe put Tee to Wiggins' side
and said, go to work.
It was really what happened in the second half.
No trying to run, no going underneath center.
We're going to be kind of who we are
as much as I hate it at times.
And it just, they went to work in the pass game.
And that's kind of how they attacked.
Tee and Jamar opposite each other
and then let's go after Wiggins.
And the pass game was clinical.
And I think if their lines continue to play that way,
this is a team that can absolutely get hot
at the right moment.
So it was a dominant performance,
certainly in the second half out of Cincinnati.
And the protection of Joe,
is the difference.
I think, you know,
the fact that he is getting sacked once
out of every 25 dropbacks,
saying that about Joe Burrow,
that he's getting sacked once out of every 25,
that's a difference maker, man.
Total difference maker.
Second in the NFL from 30th in the NFL.
Let's go ahead and protect that guy.
He could spin it.
We paid for the wide receivers.
We just needed a quarterback to be able to get to him.
They were able to do that in the second half.
Right tackle, man.
The right tackle is playing dominant football.
Okay.
So let's talk about the defense.
The Bengals.
Yeah.
They hadn't been great since Jesse Bates left town.
Correct.
That's years and years ago.
He's still doing it with the Falcons.
This year, defense enough for them
to be able to maybe go on a run here?
I absolutely think so because the defensive line.
So Mafe comes over in free agency.
He's been great.
Obviously, the Dexter trade, he's been great.
Jonathan Allen's been really good for this defensive line.
And then the backers,
now people don't think their backers are good players.
I think Knight and Carter are really good players.
They're athletic.
They're sudden.
They find their ways to the football.
They tackle well.
And so this is a group that their front seven's very good.
Their secondary's always been athletic.
And they're not needing to dominate as much, I guess,
because they're rushed.
Can you do that?
Can you do that, Dan?
Hey.
Oh, yeah.
Hey.
Hey.
Awesome.
Pretty good, Dan.
I nailed it.
Looks just like him.
Wow.
Hit movement there, Dano.
I think you got to move that forward, though.
You see, I think you're doing that forward and back.
Carriage house.
I remember it was pretty good.
Hey, Dano, I didn't expect that, huh?
The wiggle.
Oh, he said success four times.
You know what I'm saying?
Sexy Danny is what they call it.
Pretty good, Dan.
Yeah, you're right.
So I guess two times.
Two times we were able to do that entire thing.
You get a little dance, a little motion.
Shout out to the Orlovskis.
He's a big athlete, man.
Great athlete.
Get rid of Trey Hendrickson.
Don't want to pay him.
Sure.
Moffey's been great, man.
Moffey's been great.
Even, like, Murphy made a couple plays in some good pass rushes.
So I think their front seven is the difference.
And, yeah, it's definitely a defensive unit that's good enough.
Dano, in a couple weeks we'll be on Monday Night Football again.
Okay?
Yes.
Field pass was a blast.
Nobody watched it.
Nobody watched it from my understanding.
But we will be doing it again.
You're the best.
Hell, yeah.
I mean, that's what I was told.
I opened my X.
I can't read through my mentions anymore.
It's a little bit of a new life for me.
It's a new life.
It's an aggressive place.
I've been created on X.
I've created everything for myself on X and Twitter.
Now I can't even really go on there anymore.
It's okay.
I appreciate it.
I respect it.
The tide has certainly turned for a not fun time.
But I go on there.
Trending news.
You know, I can at least see what's trending, right?
One of the trends is nobody fucking watches shit.
So I can't even look at the search.
Yeah, it's a blast.
I thought we had a blast.
I had so many people come up and be like that.
I even went back to work on Tuesday and I had ten people in the building come up
and been like, man, you guys were great.
I was like, oh, thank you.
So I heard nobody say that.
So thank you for. Really?
I had so many people be like, loved it.
Nobody.
Oh, no.
I had a bunch of people come up and be like, you guys sounded great.
Did you really?
Yeah.
You guys are kidding.
There must have been everybody that watched.
Well, I don't know if anybody watched, though.
That was kind of the big thing.
Just know, next Monday, we're going to be doing. Are we going to get more people to watch?
I don't think so.
I think so.
We're going to have to change some things.
We will certainly adapt and add to it.
I thought we did really well, though.
Yeah.
I think we did okay.
I had a blast.
Which is why, you know, sometimes the movies that win all the awards, nobody watches.
That's right.
Yep.
I think that's. We're just going to view our field pass as super artist-y.
You know, we're going to say we're artists out there.
It's not about the number of people that watch.
We created something.
Exactly.
We'll live on forever.
Yeah.
Well, we would like people to maybe watch it if they have a chance.
But if not, we understand completely.
What a great game.
Yeah.
Good matchup.
Yeah.
We're going to be there.
We've got a lot of friends in those games, too.
That should be a lot of fun.
You know?
You know, that should be a blast there for us.
We're thankful for you.
Let's talk about tonight's Monday Night Football game, shall we?
D-Butt has the last question for you, Dano.
Yeah, Sean Mayer got his hands full trying to put together a game plan for Tanner McKee
in this Philadelphia offense.
If you were in his helmet calling the plays, what would be the game plan for tonight for
the Eagles?
Yeah, so getting Dickerson back, at least we think Landon Dickerson back tonight is
going to be a big deal.
I don't believe Devontae's playing, so I would heavy up my personnel usage.
I'd get more two-and-threes.
Three tight ends on the field.
I would make sure that I'm doing everything I can to throw on early downs.
I don't necessarily want to get him into second-and-obvious, third-and-obvious passing
situations, and so I would be aggressive throwing the football and just believe that because
this pass rush in Dallas is not great, that we're going to have some time.
So if we like it down the field, great.
If not, let's find Saquon, get the ball out of our hand.
Let's find Dallas Goddard, get the ball out of our hand for some of these checkdowns.
And then I would say let's put some pressure on Dallas' offense that has not played well
in the past couple weeks.
But I'd be aggressive on early downs in my play-action pass game with multiple tight
ends.
on the field okay now let's go to the other side here let's talk about Dak Prescott a lot of weapons
a lot of potential a lot of hope going into this year he's got how many four picks in the last two
weeks yeah they've scored like 20 some points in the last couple weeks yeah they haven't been able
to get going is that great defenses they've been playing or bad offense what's going on a lot of
people calling shoddy in a question his prime time record one seven and one or something like that
yeah yeah not good why things are not great right now really loud about the Cowboys especially with
how great it was supposed to be coming into the season how do you fix what they have going on
well you got to get your star receiver to play with better effort I'm going to start there
George Pickens too good of a player too important of a year too important of a year to consistently
put some of the to put the exclamation point behind the question mark about you okay so that
that's number one uh I think two they've got to get Dak to be more consistent in their past game
and not be so reliant on him uh specifically down in the red zone I think there's a predictability
with what they want to do like they they get into three by one and they want to throw the ball down
the middle of the field every every defensive player should know that that's how you get the
pick off of last week um you know this is a good challenge because Philly's defense is really
starting to play clean and I think like I know this sounds to be a hot take it's not meant to
be a hot take honestly but with where teams are sitting in the league right now if they come in
here tonight and lose that drops them to two and five and then they play I think Arizona next week
that that
that could be a two and six you're you're starting to look go from Super Bowl or bus to like
trading players because they have no draft capital in the future none and there's a lot of guys on
contract like uh 20 free agents next year yeah that's what I'm saying it's a huge huge year for
them they were kind of going all in George Pickens does the franchise tag which what you're talking
about the exclamation behind the question mark and on the flip side let's say Dallas Cowboys
able to get a win tonight a good win tonight what do you think that says especially with
wide open seemingly yeah it gets them back into the race and they're able to get a win tonight
right because the the division's a little bit wide open I still think the Giants because the
Giants have an identity and no one else in the division on both sides of the ball does they come
in here and get a win tonight then I think Philadelphia becomes a team that you would
become maybe potential sellers and say how does the the team or the win look you know does the
defense play significantly improved does the offense score 35 on the road I think that goes
a long way to determining like how much are we buying or do they win 13 10 because
we've got a bunch of beat-up players on offense and you're like meh really not that impressive
of a performance do you give a prediction for this game on NFL live um I think we picked the game yes
okay so you don't have to do it right now but I would like to get you all the information you
potentially need for Monday Night Football for the first time this season but certainly going
to be a mainstay going forward we like to go boots on the ground since we're live here in person what
let's go to our football environment expert who's currently on the field here at the link Parker
Parker are you can you hear us oh what up Park
boys what's going on there hey just one quick question Parker as we sit about uh six hours
before game time how's it feel down there how's the field feel how's the weather feel
weather's great feels field field feels great all right thank you Parker
thank you Parker that's football environment expert he knows too he knows everything feels
great yes he definitely does he knows big time he's been on every single field in America whether
college soccer he knows how fields are supposed to feel he's even been on NBA courts yeah so he's
saying sick he was at the Saban premiere next to the Saban family I mean he he was at a movie
premiere last we get him on field pass maybe I didn't think about us having a football environment
expert yeah that's kind of what he is here is our field pass for this particular show he said it
feels good AJ does that change anything for you that the weather the the football environment
expert says the weather feels good and the field feels good there it does change a little bit but I
wonder does this is this good for the Eagles it's good for the Cowboys like who does this call them
back call them back we need Parker back in line I'm not sure who has an advantage now I mean it
changed my football environment changed my pick for sure can we go to ladies and gentlemen our
football environment expert uh Parker Parker's does it feel good weather feel good for Philly
or for Dallas oh I think it's Dallas weather here oh change my pick change my Parker good luck walking
out that stadium today that's our uh football environment expert Parker change the pick again
dumpy what did you learn there from Parker down on the field Paul uh just phenomenal work there
it is it does kind of feel like Dallas weather a bit by the looks of things all right uh feels
like bumpy and Parker a ride with the Dallas Cowboys we'll find out who you picked on NFL
live anything we missed that you wanted to uh talk about take a swing at out of your notebook uh don't
know Daniel Jones why is this guy suck at football what the is going on hey listen I don't
like it come on I don't like it at all yeah I was all in yeah every every quarterback sucks versus
Minnesota though agreed okay agreed but how about sucking against everything all year whenever we
signed him to the deal that we signed him to yep I think we were kind of put in a terrible position
yeah Daniel Jones led us to the number one record in the league number one offense in the league
Harrison Smith still doing it B flow they're undefeated because of their defense yeah it's
outrageous it's mental Warfare is what Kevin O'Connell called it every single snap Daniel
Jones though we gave him a hundred million dollar contract we can get out of it after June there is
a little bit of a dead cap situation if we were to move on completely but with what we saw from him
the first nine weeks of the season last year we thought in Shane steichen's offense with what we're
able to do this guy is having a rebirth a resurgence this is who Daniel Jones is going to be
going forward we've seen players be ass at places in the at first and then get to a system that's
right for him and have massive amount of success yes I would have believed in anybody who was our
starting quarterback this year because I'm a Colts fan I'm a paying season ticket holder but I
expected us to be great yeah and we are not at all and it's been bad okay so two things and I these
are my honest thoughts one I would tell you right now Rogers and Pittsburgh looks so good moving and
they're three years removed from Achilles yeah okay so he there he's moving around and he looks
35. Daniel obviously incredibly fresh off the Achilles and he still does not look to be nearly
as athletic and sudden as he had in the past so that's starting point number one starting point
number two when you go back to the top first nine games last year it's a completely different pass
game no Michael Pittman Jr no Alec Pierce so our number one and number two pass catchers off last
year those guys aren't there so any quarterback without those players is going to struggle
obviously there's a lot that's going on with Daniel from that perspective his health and
then playing against Minnesota okay so let's talk about the Colts situation right now if you you put
your GM cap on over that great hair you got really good hair today let's say you put your GM cap on
what are you doing we don't have a one next year because it's sauce Gardner sauce Gardner not
playing yet again we hope he gets healthy we'd like to see sauce Gardner as an Indian
apolis Colt full throttle that'd be great news yeah like we signed what would you do with these
quick expiring contract the Forrest Buckner Jonathan Taylor we paid him all three of those
guys and I'm saying this respectfully would be on the trade block for me if I was Indy out of
admiration Buckner can absolutely go to a contender I've said this if you're the Chicago Bears you have
to call the Indianapolis Colts about um DeForest Buckner if you're the San Francisco 49ers you have
to call I think if you're Minnesota or Denver you absolutely should call about Jonathan Taylor and
then teams that are looking for a guard I mean if you're the Seattle Seahawks whose guards have
really struggled in the run game Quinton Nelson would be at the top of my list and so I think all
three of those players can go for a very worthy draft pick at a contending a playoff caliber super
caliber Super Bowl caliber team yeah because we're gonna have to rebuild your Chicago how do you not
that one that that that is the easiest like connect the dots for me of all time and everybody in San
Francisco wants Buckner back too so a lot of Buckner back to San Fran conversations young
guys are playing good but I agree that yeah no but there's a lot of teams and Buckner he's been
so good for our team and our community hey great player man Buckner's been out in our community too
which we appreciate and uh obviously we love we've had success whenever he's been on the field we
haven't been able to win anything with him here which sucks but you're right out of admiration
those guys can go elsewhere also we're gonna need some picks for all these guys Shefter what was that
all about Ty Shefty's like a chef he said he said John Taylor I don't know any of these guys are
going for a one it's like well then we're not trading anybody then how about that yeah we're
not getting a one that's the reason why we'd be doing this whole thing is to get our ones back
yeah but in classic Shefty fashion he did kind of piggyback it with the but nothing would ever
surprise me they could go for a one they could go for a two they could go for a five they could go
for a six I mean he was talking about the Eagles he said you know I mean they they're not really
sellers they might be buyers but they could be sellers but they might be buyers too so I mean
you're right Ty I forgot about the dance yeah I got one more question for Dan uh at what point
do we consider going back to Anthony Richardson to see kick the tires of that maybe see if he
could figure it out if he's figured out if Dan Jones keeps playing like he's playing
I would play Anthony Richardson as soon as possible if I was Indy we gave Daniel
Jones a hundred million dollars okay so but that chip is sailed burn that money burn that money
burn the boat yeah it's done burn the boat nothing a hundred million dollars don't matter
nothing gone nothing Daniel does in the next nine weeks is going to change anything about
Daniel's future. You're either going to keep him, whoever
the decision maker is, or you're going to
move on from him. And nothing in the nine
weeks is going to change that. Anthony, at
least you can, maybe
you strike lightning and then it becomes a piece
that you can trade. But I would play
Or keep, or play forever. For sure.
For sure. I'd play him.
Now. But that Shane's
fighting for his job, so I get that.
No, that fight's over.
Ding, ding, ding, ding.
They rung that bell. We're not calling
for jobs either.
We're very surprised they both stuck around.
Chris Ballard gets fired. We assume
that this is only going to become, you know,
one Pavlov's dogs
here. One leads to the next.
Who would you hire, though?
Are we bringing John Gruden in here?
I mean, that is. We're putting the cart before the. Who would you do it? Hypothetically, though, who would you
trade everything for Munkin?
Cart behind a horse.
A chicken and an egg kind of go together.
Okay, so the coordinators
right now that are. I think Declan
Doyle in Baltimore is very intriguing, but
I think that there's a place close
to Baltimore that would be number one on my list
for Doyle.
He's too young.
He is too young. It's John Gruden.
Yeah, maybe Gruden. Would you
rather be a year earlier? How about the
dude from UCLA?
Bob Chesney? Yeah. Bob Chesney
goes JMU, UCLA to the Colts.
I'm with it. I'd get excited.
What about Luke Fickle? He's doing great
in Wisconsin. Finally, Bill, they gave
up some of his contract to go back to the. Oh, you know
who else? Matt Patricia.
Oh, Rahim getting another opportunity.
I like that. Rahim Morris would be a. I don't think Matt Patricia's. I think he could do it. He ain't leaving that 49ers
defense for this.
What do you mean, Chris? There's only 32
jobs. He's trying to think of who else.
Brian Dayball. Mike Tomlin.
Ooh. Mike Tomlin
would be great. McDermott would be great.
McDermott? McDermott and Tomlin.
I'll take everything back. McDermott and Tomlin, one-two.
Yeah, okay. Sweet. Let's assume
that they have other opportunities as well.
Bill to D-Bot's point.
And maybe, you know, like
New York Jets
team, maybe, because Aaron Glenn
said, our defense is going to get the ball back
for us. It's like, well, you're allowed to call timeout.
And them still do that.
You know, like that's. And Aaron Glenn,
he might want life as a D.C. again
anyways. Yeah. That might be something.
Feels like that New York Jets
talk. Hey, shout out to Jeff Halfley, man. How about
Half getting a win for. How about it?
How about it? How about it, man?
How about this draft class in Miami
is? How about it, Dano?
Yeah, Gumby loves how the young guys are playing well.
They're viewing it as like a redshirt year almost.
That's how Gumby's viewing it. I don't know about all
Dolphins fans. Them getting a huge win,
obviously gigantic for Halfley, but
for the other side of it, Jets fans are like,
we lose to this team? That is really the
reaction. Jets fans not happy. Greeny, like,
Greeny not happy. Greeny wants to
trade everybody. Just fire
everybody. Trade everybody, fire everybody.
Yeah, his dauber's done. His dauber's
really done. But, hey, Aaron Glenn,
we still think you're a good ball coach.
We just think some of the things you've said
just isn't what a head coach is supposed to say.
Right? He's not the only one.
Fellowship with the combine.
Yeah, bingo.
Down the sidelines, though. I love that.
And also, this thing is incredible.
He got fined for. Like, we love. Go back to that stat. That stat? Gary
Vaynerchuk bummed out? Or what stat
are you talking about? Did that say they've been
outscored? Yeah, final two
minutes. Worst coach of all time.
Whoa, whoa. By that stat.
It's a tough. How many games has he been
at? 20?
Defense wasn't really good
in Detroit, either, for being fair.
We need to know this, though.
For being honest, his defense
wasn't great in Detroit, either.
Foxy. Foxy.
There was a time Lions fans wanted him fired,
but he picked it up and fixed it.
They have four springers in there.
Don't say. We'll take
Aaron Glenn with the Colts next year as our
DC. We love you, pal.
John Gruden. Him and Frank Wright.
Offensive coordinator? No.
Give Frank another shot.
This show's. Andrew Luck's the GM.
We need to stop with all this
more. Andrew Luck is. Mike Malarkey? No!
Mike Malarkey's not going to be the head coach for the Colts.
Malarkey's a no.
Get to a break.
Nick Saban. Saban?
Big day with Big Shregs.
Breaking down
all of the big plays.
He's next. We hope Shregs
has a better show than our show, obviously.
We assume that'll be an easy task.
We're in trouble with the Colts, but there are some teams
that are heading to the Super Bowl. Overreactions
digitally on the other side. Be a friend to
our friends. I'm nice. My change of life. Goodbye.
Okay, so we're still live, Danny.
You know that.
We don't want to call for Steichen's
job, but we assume he's no longer going to be
the head coach for the Colts.
We assume that's not going to happen.
Can I ask you guys a question?
Great shot.
I think that went in.
Hand to God, true story. Do you guys know
what percent, like the word
percent is derived from?
Percentile?
Percentage? What? But from
what? Like, how come it's
percent?
Okay, so Hambo this morning
was like, Joe Burrow,
his sack rate is 4%.
And I said, dumb this down
for me. Why?
No human's going to hear me say that
I'm going to make them smarter. He goes, well,
what do you mean? I said, what does that actually mean?
He goes, well, out of every 100 dropbacks,
he's getting sacked 4 times.
And I said, is that really
what it is? Like, it's always out of 100?
And he's like, per
cent.
Oh, percentile?
Centennial mark?
Cent is 100, yeah, per 100.
You're a jackass, dude.
I knew 1% was out of 100, yeah.
Yeah, we all knew it was out of 100, yeah.
I didn't know it was always out of 100.
So it's 50%.
Wait, what are you saying?
And I didn't know. Did you go to school? Did you have a grading system?
And I didn't know it was. Holy fuck.
AJ, you knew
per cent was per
cent, like cent meaning 100th century?
No, I don't think we knew the word
broke down like that, but we all knew it was out of 100.
It's always 100, yeah.
Yeah, I always thought it could be a. What?
32.
88.
Like 2 out of 3 is, yeah, 66.
But if you keep going, there is 100 in there.
Damn.
Yeah.
Come on, man.
I was just, I did not know percent.
That's why it was broken down to me that way.
I love it to you.
I love that you can get on TV and say that now on NFL Live.
Let me break it down to you this way.
He's out of 100.
Is that what he said to you?
And you said, oh.
Yeah.
And he goes to like one out of every 25.
And that's why I said that before with Joe.
That's how that came about.
I appreciate you leaving.
No stone unturned, but that's tough, dude.
That's a tough one.
That's a tough one, especially with like how much you talk about stuff that revolves around percentages.
I'm not a big numbers and percentage person, though, unless they make sense to me.
And percents are out of 100.
Congratulations, dude.
That's Dan Orlovsky there.
100% of the time, that's out of 100.
100% means out of 100 times.
Yeah.
It was more per cent.
Like, that was more of the.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
For sure.
No doubt.
No doubt, homie.
Yeah, yeah.
Bro, yeah, bro.
You're the best.
That's Dan Orlovsky.
That's a baby, Dan.
50% of the time, he gets it right, which means half.
Yep.
Because.
So he gets it.
That's out of 100.
Wow.
There it goes.
He had courage to say that on.
Yeah, good on him.
You're right.
Yikes.
That is a tough thing to say.
On your way out.
First person.
Yeah.
Yeah, the last thing everyone's going to remember.
Wow.
He's coming back.
He forgot something.
Did you leave a percentage here?
Oh, yeah.
Sport code.
That'd be about half of that suit, which would be about.
50%.
Every time.
Half is 50%.
Hey, Tom.
Be great to see you, bud.
Great to see you, Dan.
Have a good day.
Later, pal.
Dan, we appreciate you, dude.
Really don't know how you do life and how you've gotten this far.
Proud of you, man.
Way to go, dude.
You defied all odds.
Let's get to a break, dude.
That was tough.
Yikes.
I mean, that is.
Golly.
How do you even.
One of the dumber things I've ever heard.
Did you know?
He's a hand to God.
If he would have just said the per cent.
Exactly.
That would have.
Yeah, like the word.
Yeah, I would have got that as well.
I thought that's what he assumed.
I thought he was just talking about the word.
The origin of the word.
Previously with the hundred things.
Yeah, that really killed him.
Jesus.
I mean, I don't know what to do.
I honestly don't know how this works anymore.
You know, like how.
Maybe that explains why he's such a cheapskate, though.
He didn't really understand the numbers.
That's a good point.
I'm tipping.
What percentage of this thing?
Twenty percent.
Oh, give me that back.
Give me that back.
Out of what?
Two.
Two percent.
Two percent.
They get in.
They're lucky.
They're even getting that.
How does he break?
Oh, man.
How does he get an AP vote?
I mean, what are we even?
Yeah.
Percentages are a pretty big deal.
Like red zone percentage.
Sure.
Or down percentage.
Completion percentage.
Touchdown percentage.
He probably said that because Drake May was better than Stafford in all of those categories
last year.
Oh, so you think this is like a look back, see it as vote from last year?
I think that's how I took it.
Like, oh, okay.
That makes a little more sense then.
Hey, mass holes.
I don't know that percentages are out of a hundred.
I don't know what the fuck this means.
They tell me to keep it
105, dude. What do you want?
What the fudge does any of this shit mean?
I'm just
turning what my eyes see, okay?
Matthew Stafford, that's what it looks
like. That's what it's supposed to be.
Matthew Stafford
was great today. Yeah, the man.
Alright, we got overreactions
on the other side.
Then we head into the greatest Monday
Night Football game of two teams that aren't worth a damn
right now. Woo!
Woo!
Monday Night Football.
Could we have flexed out of this?
They could have, yes. Seriously?
Just like the commies next week, right?
Maybe that's the one I'm thinking of. Yeah, they're thinking about
moving Brian Steelers to Sunday Night Football
instead of the Sunday Night game.
Thank God they did not.
I wish more networks would do that.
I wish they would utilize it. I think it's just
you turned down
the Dallas
Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles fans.
You think maybe you pissed them
off. You pissed off the Philadelphia
Eagles and Dallas Cowboys fans.
Pissed off their franchises, which you have a good
relationship with. I think there's a lot of
that type of shit that goes into the flexing
as opposed to us just being like, what are we
doing? How's this? Why is this game?
Because it's not really a normal procedure
to flex out. I wish they would
normalize flexing games, if that makes
sense.
Yeah, exactly. You do it
more often. The fans and the teams and the organizations
don't get pissed off about you doing it.
It's just kind of like the expected move.
Like, hey, your teams are ass. We can't have them on
primetime because it's not good for the league as a whole.
It's also not good for your teams to spotlight how
ass you have been.
If we would do it more often, I think it would become
more accepted for these
people, but since it's very rarely used,
whenever you do it, it's almost more offensive, if that
makes sense. You're right. I think you're right.
And it gives teams a little chip
on their shoulder, too. Like, oh, they flexed us out, and then
all of a sudden your team goes on a run.
The bad fan base is you do not
want to be on primetime. I don't think they would be mad at all.
I mean, there's a lot of people traveling
to these games and made these plans.
That planned it like eight weeks in advance.
Yeah, we're going to go do this Monday night, too.
We're going to make a trip out of it. Hey, I'm not going to work, no school,
whatever. The other networks can
protect some of the games, too, so it's not
always the best one available
automatically gets picked. They can say, no, we're not giving
that one up. Yeah, that's a lot of
negotiating between networks who really like
working with each other, from our understanding.
Really like it. They enjoy
that. There's a tailgate line outside.
RVs parked. I don't know
what street it was we drove by. RVs
lined up. John's packed
out already. Bruin.
Yeah. 9.30 a.m., I think, when we came
over here. 10 a.m. It was lined up.
Boom. Ready to go. Our team ain't worth
a damn. Probably not going to win a Super Bowl this year, but we got
a Monday night football game. That's a reason to celebrate. Let's
take off work, and let's go ahead, and the boys are
just lined up, stacked up. So I think
it's going to be a Philadelphia environment,
but this is one of those ones, just like
it was mentioned earlier. They're excited
to see what this Eagles team looks like. Let's make
sure it looks good, because if it doesn't,
we're going to let Sirianni know we don't
appreciate what he's doing to our team. It could
be a hostile environment for the Eagles tonight.
But also, they get a win like this,
you get a win over the Dallas
Cowboys like this, this place could be alive.
All right. Let's get to a break.
On the other side, we got our overreactions, and
wrapping up everything else happening in the sports world.
We got a World Series today,
Ty. Yeah, big time. And I'll
tell you what, the Brewers,
two great games over the weekend,
but the Brewers just,
they look like they could be a team
of destiny. We'll see what happens tonight, though.
Okay, and we got
WNBA Finals. Have they found a
place? What are they playing at, actually?
They haven't found a place for Game 6
in Atlanta yet. No, they didn't. Oh, they did? Okay.
Well, Game 5 tonight is in Ball Hollow, though, right?
It's tied 2-2 right now.
I know Game 6 is going to be played
at 12.30 on Thursday
at the, um, the
State Farm. Yeah, 12.30 PM. 12.30 in the afternoon?
Yeah. During the show? Oh, so they changed
the date?
Or just the time? I like that. I think just the
time. It's a matinee? Yeah, 12.30
PM, yeah. That's on Thursday?
The 29th, whatever the 29th.
The 29th is.
Yes. Thursday, yes. Thursday.
Okay. I like
a little afternoon meaningful ball.
I also like Tyrese Halliburton.
He's Halliback, and
he looks better than ever, doesn't he?
He's trying to, hey, he won't
say it publicly, but it feels like
he's trying to really. I think he wants an MVP. I think he wants
I think he wants it all.
I think Tyrese has been motivated
all rehab, all recovery
by a lot of the talk, and then the NBA
putting him on the zone against Pelicans, his first
I think that even fed him even more.
Obviously, we saw him get emotional.
He's been balling. A D-butt.
This might be the best Tyrese we've seen. He said
these ABA jerseys, you know,
maybe made him feel a little bit like Dr.
J, and then he immediately goes, whoa, whoa, whoa, I am not
Dr. J. I am not Dr. J. Please,
please do not quote me on that, but
nonetheless, Tyrese is throwing it off the backboard
to himself. He's bouncing oops to himself.
He's got a double-double every single time
he stepped on the floor. Feels like this might be
Tyrese's year, D-butt. I love every
thing I'm seeing from Tyrese, including that little
self-alley right there. That's something I've never seen
Tyrese even pre-Achilles
where I'm going to have the confidence to pull that off in the game,
and then I do like, I love the self-awareness
like, hey, hey, hey, don't quote me on that.
And another thing I like, too, I don't know
if you saw this clip, how much his boys
are riding for him. Like, he's talking shit,
and the boys behind him are ready to run,
so I love what I'm seeing from Tyrese and the Pacers
now. Once again, just got to keep doing it.
Earn your way to ESPN
because I'm not going over there,
but I love seeing the highlights. You got to be
Mavs at home. We're watching
a lot of clips. How is the East
doing right now? I know the Sixers have been winning
after doing big losses
early, and then the Knicks. How are the Knicks,
Bruce? Are the Knicks okay?
0-3. Certainly a bit
of a championship hangover,
but Brunson said
we needed this. We needed some negativity.
It was too positive. There was no adversity,
so I'm sure they'll get it right back on track,
but, you know, I'm used to it.
We sucked for about 50 years until
Julius Randle and then eventually Brunson
showed up, so, you know,
hopefully they turn it around.
First 0-3 for a title team since when?
I think it was 2012,
the Dallas Mavericks.
And the Bulls
are the only team that went
0-3 and then repeated. So it has
been done, but only once by Michael Jordan.
We'll see if Jalen Brunson can do that.
I believe in him. I think he's an absolute
assassin, but with the Pacers back,
everybody needs to look out.
Luca looks like he's making every
shot all year. Is that what he's doing?
That's the plan. Basically.
It's unbelievable.
52 points. Freak.
Yeah, and he's talking his shit all over
everywhere. Shout out to the NBA being back. Shout out to
MLB. Shout out to WNBA. Shout out to the
NHL having magical action and obviously
Monday Night Football here. It's a great
day to be a sports fan. It's also a great day for
overreactions. Be a friend, tell a friend. Some nights might
change your life. We're back on the other side.

Hello beautiful people
and welcome back
to this magical
Overreaction Monday, October 26,
2026. Hour 3 of the program
begins right now.
Football!
It is the greatest Monday night football
will be happening here, right behind me at
the link, as the Philadelphia Eagles of
the NFC East will host the Dallas Cowboys
also of the NFC East. Both these teams
won in 7 in their last 8 games.
Tanner McKee, backup quarterback, will be starting for the
Philadelphia Eagles against Dak Prescott,
who's been playing like a backup quarterback
for the last few weeks. Can the Dallas
Cowboys get hot? Can the Philadelphia Eagles
win one at home in front of the boys
and the Johns?
We shall see. 8 o'clock is when
this game kicks off. 6 p.m. Eastern,
Monday night countdown. Scott Van Pelt,
Jay Mack, myself, Jason,
Kelsey, and Swagu, alongside Michelle
Beisner-Buck, I believe Stephen A.
Smith, who was just a couple suites down
earlier today doing his thing, and maybe
even Kurt Warner. Should be a celebration
of the evening, and somebody might
win Super Bowl tickets as they attempt
the impossible. A super catch
to head to the Super Bowl. A
jugs machine will send a punt into the sky,
and some fan who wins a raffle
will have an opportunity to try to catch it, to win two
tickets to the Super Bowl that'll be right here
on ESPN. Should be
a packed night as we celebrate ball.
A man who's
a college football national champion, Super Bowl champion,
Ryder Cup winner, A.J. Hawk is here.
How you doing, Hawk-o?
Great. How far away is that?
How far away is that jugs machine going to be from this person?
So, uh, 40 to
50 yards. Ooh, good luck catching that one.
Are you going to launch it, like, legit?
Yeah, I think Stanford Steve's going to
be on the jugs. Yes.
I think he's going to be on the jugs, former tight end.
Obviously, he will know how to operate the jugs machine.
Jugs machine is a fickle thing.
If you've never done it before, you have to
stick your hand in a little bit of a
sketchy situation, and the ball
can either go, or it can actually fly.
I think Stanford Steve will be on the jugs
machine. Somebody will win a raffle, and then, yeah, I think
It's $40,000.
50 yards in the sky. I think they're going to have
pads on, too. I think we've got a helmet
and shoulder pads.
That was my last
understanding of the situation. Well, that's to protect their face
and they don't want to get donged right in the nose.
Blood's everywhere, so you've got to wear a helmet,
I guess. Exactly, but also more realistic.
Hey, can you do it through the helmet?
Can you do it with the shoulder pads? Because catching off
that thing could beat you up. We'll see if we can give away
some Super Bowl tickets. 6 p.m. Eastern
on Monday Night Countdown. Nine-year NFL
vet Darius J. Butler is back in the Thunderdome.
How many chances
do they get to catch this punt?
Okay, so I'm not 100% sure
how it's going to work. This is the first one.
We'll certainly go through it.
I assume there'll be a couple opportunities
if I had to guess.
Hopefully this person will be happy whenever, instead
of saying just two Super Bowl tickets.
You know, that's kind of
become a thing with giveaways these days.
The Cox Stables here at Boston Corner
and at Ty Schmidt. Good to see you
lads. How you doing, Ty Schmidt?
Doing damn good. Doing damn good.
Good to see you as well. And yeah, you know what?
We'll see. Because, I mean, the cash value
on two Super Bowl tickets is
absolutely crazy these days.
So yeah, hopefully, you know, you don't look a gift
horse in the mouth.
It's not a million dollars, I don't think, those two tickets.
No. No, it's not.
I don't think it's three million
either, though, you know.
But that was an insane weekend.
One half of the hammer.
Cowboys AP
tone. Is there a tone? Another spectacular weekend
of college football as well. We talked a lot about the
NFL.
College had a hell of a
Saturday following a historic Saturday
last week. Dude, it's insane.
It's just more and more of the same
every week. It's like, which one of these top
teams is going to be able to withstand
the season without kicking themselves
in the foot? Obviously, you
know, Texas and Arch came out. You heard me.
It was perfect. It was absolutely perfect.
Jason Witten, shout out Monday Night Football.
Yeah. Obviously, Arch
came out and looked really good at times.
There were still some things that, you know, Arch did.
But they ended up coming away with a
huge win after they tried to give
Ole Miss every single chance
in the end to not. BYU,
you know, you win a huge game
and then you go on the road and they lose to
UCF in double
overtime in an incredible game. That's been
a story of the season.
Texas Tech, they go on the road and get
their absolute doors blown off
by Cincinnati. That was a
huge one. IU and Michigan,
one of the worst
games of all time potentially to watch.
But an incredible game that went into
overtime. You know, Josh Hoover
maybe playing through an injury, maybe not.
Huge overtime touchdown to do it for
the Hoosiers. And now game day is going to
Indiana. And they'll play Minnesota
who got a huge win
against Iowa. Iowa playing
not Iowa. Football turned the ball over
a ton of times. Gave Minnesota
the win there in that situation. Yeah, there was a
ton of games. Miami, the number one team
in the country. They took care of business
against Pitt. You know, they have two
Heisman frontrunners in that situation. But another
great weekend of college
football. Yeah, Darian Mensah and
Malachi Toney might not be stoppable.
I mean, they are phenomenal.
Malachi Toney has
enough points and yards to
feed an entire program
and franchise. He's a stud.
He'll block too. He is
a legit problem. Mario Cristobal
seemingly has it yet again with a
tough, nasty team. They were celebrating
a 2001 team there. There was no way
the Miami Hurricanes were going to lose that
game. They certainly pounded the Pitt Panthers.
And then game you left out, Utah
beats Houston. Utah remains
undefeated. Houston has their second loss
of the season as the Big 12 remains
pretty wide open. Big
12 might be better than the Big 10 right
now, AJ. Nobody wants to talk about it.
But the Big 12 has a bunch of
quarterbacks that are good at football. Now, do they have
a good enough defense to be able to win games
in a college football playoff against a Big 10
team in the trenches or an SEC team
in the trenches? We shall see. Are their
defenses good enough? Certainly look like it
a couple different times, especially for Morgan Scali.
He's defense. But that's going to be the knock
on the Big 12. Texas Tech has
that great year last year. Then they get to the
playoff. Doesn't work out. This team,
these teams down in the Big 12 look good.
They get to the college football playoff. Will it work out?
I think yes. It feels different out there
and Utah remains undefeated.
They got a damn good football team, AJ.
Yeah, it does feel different. I mean, honestly, right now,
especially in college football, I mean, I feel like
this college and the NFL, we don't know. Like,
you really do not know week to week. I feel
like it's anybody's game at any point.
There's so much parody as we hear
that word thrown around all the time, but
in college sports, it's real.
Who's going to guess Cincinnati's
going to blow out Texas Tech this weekend?
I just don't know. Like I said
before, it's tough to predict
these things, but I think week to week, we don't know what teams
are yet. Really. Yeah, we have no
idea. Shout out to Lenore Sellers. He's playing
football good again. I didn't know
that was going to be happening. Shout out to South Carolina.
Cocktober happening for
real. Tennessee gets another huge
go. I mean, there's six
to seven teams. Six to
seven teams down there in the
SEC that could win a national championship,
you'd think, or not even make the playoff.
Same thing with the Big Ten.
There's like, is UCLA Northwestern?
Are they for real? Is Indiana going to continue
to go? We assume. Ohio State,
they get a huge win over Indiana. Now they have
a brand new quarterback. It's like, there's
so many question marks all over the place, and the Big 12
quietly, really good
broke. They've got a lot of good winning teams.
They've got good winning teams. ACC, Miami
is always going to be dominant. We will assume that
will be the case until
further notice. And then Notre Dame,
what are they going to be when it's all said and done?
I've really enjoyed this college football season.
Did not enjoy University
of Utah. Did not enjoy it.
Can't bet a thousand.
Yeah, it can't all be great.
Yeah, you're right. I guess that is true.
You know why I didn't like it mostly?
Right before I go out there,
right before I go out
there, I see the University
of Utah's Instagram page.
The
universities, this is
this is our, this is
how we are. They put out, they keep doing
an impression of Pat McAfee, and one kid
goes, ah, he's corny. Another kid calls
me creepy. Okay? If these
kids would have done this on their own blogs,
all good. I mean, everybody's taking shots at me
anyways for everything. I get it.
If the two ladies that were hosting that put that
out on their own blog, I'd be okay with it.
Hey, you're allowed to do what you want. The university
puts that out, like as
I'm about to go out and do an infomercial
for the place, and then I'm walking in front of
thousands of these people. This is how the
university feels about it. It's an uncomfortable
feeling. I'm like, this is, you know, I'm
getting a lot of shrapnel from a lot of places. The
university is putting this out?
That is, that's something
I just had never experienced, really, in my
entire life, so it kind of
sent me off a little bit. It made me feel a little bit
weird, I would say. It made me feel a little bit weird.
And then I thought to myself, has anything
like really scary happened at
like a college gathering
in the state of Utah recently?
Like, do we think we should be amplifying reasons
for why people hate my guts?
As a university? I don't know. So
it was just, it was a lot of mixed
feelings for me going out there.
And then, obviously, the kicker goes,
only one million dollars. Great.
Only one million dollars? It's like, alright,
I hate this place. I hate this place.
They got a good football team, though.
They got a good football team. But I've
never been more uncomfortable, honestly,
in my life, walking in front of a group of people
after watching their university put out
a post basically dogging me just moments
before. I saw a lot of people say they didn't even say
anything that bad. It was like, it's the university putting
that out. It's not like a blog.
It's the actual place that we're at. So
I'll hopefully never go to that
place. I think I have COVID or something
whenever game day goes back, if I'm still a part
of game day. But I
did not enjoy the morning there,
but they do have an incredible student section, from my
understanding, and they have a good football team.
So I'm pretty impressed.
Just didn't like the university
taking a shot at me.
New York Times, do what you gotta do.
I guess. I guess you'd kill me.
All the sports media tabloids people, they
quote me out of context. They build a narrative about me.
But you got people that really hate my guts out there.
Like, really hate my guts. And I understand
it, I guess. This is just a part of what life
is, especially because I have a lot of things that are very
hateable about me. I could certainly
understand that. But the university
gaslighting some of it, right before I go out there
to talk about your school, especially
with what happened 40 miles south of Salt Lake City
a little over a year ago, it's like, I didn't
I did not
enjoy that. I was very, very
uncomfortable. I was just very, very
uncomfortable. So I think it made
me not have the greatest morning.
But it was a phenomenal game day.
Thank you to everybody that showed up. Obviously
Dalton Kincaid did a great job.
He picked UCF to beat BYU.
Only one. He called Malachi Tony
with multiple touchdowns. They did that.
He called Utah getting a huge win over Houston.
They did that. He's big. He's
strong. The Buffalo Bills are good. So there's a lot
of good. Morgan Scali, I think he's probably
a good guy and good coach. I like what they're doing
on the football field, but I just
I didn't appreciate the university
amplifying like that. Who has control
of that account? Who is that?
Within the university? I don't know.
I don't know. I don't really
I haven't really looked into it or thought about it.
I just thought to myself, fuck this place.
You don't like me?
You started out the show with a bang.
No, I mean like
I walked up to that set. I walked up to
that set and
you know
I was in a
I think I hate this place. I think
I hate this place. And Herbie's like, what?
Why? Like right before you guys went on air, you're saying?
Yeah, I saw this like moments
before we go up there. I'm like,
is this from the University of Utah?
They're like, yeah, let me check. Is that the
actual university's account?
Yeah. Okay.
You could have edited out a couple of those things.
You know, I don't think you needed to go with those
two things, did you? Unless you wanted
it. Okay. You don't like me.
Got it. So it was just weird. It was
just a weird thing. But their football team? Good at football.
Really, really good at football. But I couldn't
wait to get the hell out of there. I couldn't wait to get
the hell out of there. See ya. Goodbye.
I'm out of here.
Shout-out to the Utah Jazz.
They win their season home opener.
Beautiful stadium, beautiful arena.
They redid that to make it more mammothable.
So they fixed their seats.
So they built an arena for basketball, for the Jazz.
Ryan Smith does, builds this arena for the Utah Jazz.
Perfect for basketball.
Then he gets offered to buy the Phoenix Coyotes NHL team.
I think he had been in conversations with the NHL about possible expansion.
We would love to do that.
We'd like to do that.
Then the Coyotes become available, and he gets a call from the NHL.
It's like, hey, do you want the Phoenix Coyotes?
Need an answer, like pretty quick here.
He's like, sure, let's do it.
I have an arena, I guess.
Picks up their entire franchise, even the front office workers
and equipment managers, picks them up, moves them into Utah,
buys a mall so he can house them, and then he has to redo this arena
that he just built four years ago to make it much more hockey conducive.
It's like, it's special stuff what's going on out there.
Ryan Smith.
Ryan Smith is so good at what he does.
I have so much respect for him, and he got me back, boys.
He got me back pretty good.
At that BYU game, or college game day, where Spider-Man was out there kicking,
I told Ryan the night before that if he comes out to the kick and I see him,
there's a chance.
There's a chance that I'm going to have to do what I have to do.
And, you know, I offered up a million of his bucks, a million of Sweeney's bucks.
Then he invites us to the game, home opener, would love to have you.
Come have a blast, gives us a bunch of merch.
Puts us on the court.
A little line-o.
Hey, second quarter.
Guess what?
We got a million-dollar donation coming.
This will be fun.
From Pat McAfee.
I had no idea that was coming.
Camera goes to me immediately.
I just start laughing.
I'm like, Ryan, genius.
This is a genius play.
And then they follow up with, oh, yeah, it'll be Tony Finau trying to make a 15-foot putt
into a hole double the size.
Double the size.
It was a nice little putt.
Tony Finau comes up from behind me, by the way.
I had no idea that he was doing this.
He slides in here.
Okay, yeah.
I'll pay it.
Yep, no problem, Ryan.
Hilarious.
Hilarious.
Okay, how's this going to work?
They've got to pick a random person.
Gumpy sitting courtside at the Jazz game, loving his life.
And she says, it's not just a putt, not just a random fan.
Actually, do we have, oh, Tony Finau is actually going to do this.
And he brought his own putter.
The guy brought his own putter.
I find out afterwards he sent somebody home to go get his putter because he didn't want
to use the gimmick one.
Double the size hole.
Obviously, Finau's going to make that.
Very thankful that Ryan Smith operates that way and lucky to be a part of the evening.
But, yeah, that's a million-dollar.
That's a million bucks.
I had no idea that was happening, you know.
So, whenever it's, I only offered a million and not three million.
If this was swimming, I'd be able to do better.
It's like, okay.
All right.
You would have kicked your ass in swimming.
I would have killed you in swimming.
That's it.
Can you imagine if you would have raced in the pool or in a lake somewhere?
Boys.
Bro.
Boys.
You know you've got that eardrum thing.
I don't think my head would have to go underwater.
But.
Okay.
But.
I am not like a great swimmer.
She might have the technique and the form.
Yeah.
But I feel just with the amount of mass that I take up, you know, and my ability to move water.
Okay.
I can't float.
I can't do the little sit there and float thing.
I got a fat ass.
I will drop to the bottom of water.
I'm the only human that maybe can't float.
They put me in the.
What's that thing called?
Tone.
You want to do this with your.
Oh, the salt.
Yeah, the salt.
The floating.
Deprivation tank.
No.
The floatatarium or something is what it's called.
Yeah, it's an air.
Salt.
Salt.
Salt.
Salt.
Salt.
Salt.
Salt tank.
It's an air.
Chicago.
It's like so much salt.
You can just.
It's awesome.
Oh, yeah.
It's the Dead Sea.
Yeah.
The amount of salt that it has in there.
It's called the floatatarium is what it's called.
Okay.
I sink in.
I fucking sink right to the bottom.
I can't float.
Like, I'm not a big water guy.
I can't float.
But if I was racing somebody for a million dollars, especially Miss Morgan Boring, I
think I'd win that.
I think I would figure out a way to win that.
You know what I mean?
I would figure out.
I would figure out a way to win that, even if I got the hole in my eardrum still.
Nonetheless, excited to never go back to that university.
But I do love the state of Utah still and had an absolute blast.
If it wasn't from the university's account, I wouldn't have taken so much offense.
Everybody's murdering me these days.
Call me corny and creepy.
I mean, you name it.
Everything.
I mean, I've been called a lot worse, actually, by a lot bigger publications.
I just didn't like the university doing it, AJ.
I just didn't like that.
I get it.
Yeah.
I mean, especially.
Not a lot.
A lot of people get it.
The timing, too, though.
I think the timing.
If you saw it right before you go on air and you have all these, yes, thousands and thousands
of people out there, I can understand you, yeah, being a bit weird mentally going out
to that show.
Oh, you don't like me here, huh?
Okay.
Well, I only know one way.
You don't like me?
I don't fucking like you either.
How about 60 Minutes reached out?
Really?
They want to do a piece?
Yeah, the fuck right.
Oh, that'd be awesome.
Yeah, right.
I'd sit down in one room, like face to face.
Like, that would be awesome.
Right after you came in?
Dark room with light, like a spotlight right on you.
Yeah, I'm sure that'd be fair.
I'm sure that would be, I'm sure that'd be A-okay.
I'm sure that would go great.
I would just like to let all media publications, I decline.
Forever.
Okay.
Thank you.
Because I've read what all of you have had to say.
And I really question whether or not I should be allowed to do anything after reading it.
But I'm just going to continue forging the river of sports and hopefully one day, looking
back on all this.
I'm going to continue forging the river of sports and hopefully one day, looking back on all this.
We will have done something worth living.
And that's literally where I've had to find myself after a lot of deep thoughts with everybody
murdering my every move.
Now, let's talk about murder a little bit.
Let's talk about overreacting.
Let's talk about going crazy.
Let's talk about sports being the greatest.
Because fans can buy in and fans can certainly sell.
I put out a tweet this morning saying, hey, I can't wait to hear what you're thinking
after an incredible week seven NFL Sunday slate.
All you got to use is the hashtag.
I don't want to overreact, but we got a lot of good ones, age.
We're at that time of year where a lot of people are seeing the trains go off the track
and a lot of teams are potentially seeing Lombardi in their future.
Let's go around the office a little bit.
This one's from D Butch hashtag.
I don't want to overreact, but Brian Flores should be the odds on favorite for coach of
the year.
What he's doing with this defense is 90% of the reason they are the lone undefeated team
left in the NFL at six and oh hashtag skull deep.
But I don't think you're overreacting here at all.
Brother.
Yeah, you know, I don't think so either.
And look, I know there is an assistant coach of the year award and a coach of the year
is typically for head coaches.
But I don't know if the rule book says an assistant coach can't win this award.
You look at some of the things this defense is doing.
It's unbelievable.
We saw the graphic up there with being a six and oh team with the offense.
And it was teams from 1920s, 1930s.
So what they're doing right now, I'm going to write it off a couple of stats through
six games, 12.3 points per game.
They're allowing 252 yards per game.
Total warfare only allowed three points across their six games total in the fourth quarter.
So that's just unbelievable what they're doing.
And that's why they're sitting at six and oh right now.
All because of, well, 90% because of beef flowing that defense.
Yeah, that 10% you're talking about is the offense and also will write their kicker.
Phenomenal year thus far.
Offense, we assume we'll get it figured out, AJ, we think.
Yeah, I mean, it doesn't sound like Dano is super confident that they will get it figured
out, but I would assume they're going to play.
They're going to be.
Explosive and put up more points offensively as the season goes.
They would have to.
They're historically bad.
Let's go to Bruce Brown.
Hashtag.
I don't want to overreact, but 10 and a half point dogs, Don Edmonds, Burns and Javon Holland
pull up to a hot Houston team and out gain them by 183 yards.
Finish it off by running the ball right down their throat.
JJ McCarthy with some of the best throws you'll see all season and zero mistakes.
Driver's seat of the NFC East hardball is the most impactful hire this century.
And the Giants might win the Super Bowl.
Bruce Brown, not overreacting at all, brother.
Greatest hire of the century.
I love that.
Might be overreacting a little bit, but fuck it.
It's the bye week, by the way.
We're four, two and one.
We're in the driver's seat, like I said.
And I just want to give a special shout out to Jermaine Illuminor.
He said a few years ago, I think I'm the best right tackle in the league.
Everyone kind of clowned him yesterday.
He pulls up, banged up, questionable.
Didn't know if he was going to play late into the week and just erases Will Anderson.
From the game completely.
So shout out to him and shout out to JJ and all the boys keeping it rolling, man.
It's been awesome.
You're allowed to overreact all you want.
How about that other team in New York?
Let's go to the next overreaction, shall we?
Next one comes from Chris Goltz.
Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but. No matter the expectations, the Carolina Panthers will always make me want to take a bath with my toaster.
The special glove Baker was wearing may as well have been an oven mitt with the hot meatball subs Bryce was throwing.
The season is chucking over, Chris.
Good for you, buddy.
Good for you, Chris.
That was bad.
That was bad, bad, bad.
Baker only threw for 68 yards.
Didn't matter.
Bucky goes absolutely crazy.
Carolina Panthers get absolutely cooked.
This is a team that we've been saying ties.
A good football team.
Didn't look like it on Sunday.
Yeah, no.
They looked like a dogshit football team yesterday, unfortunately.
But hey, you know what?
This is kind of what happened last year with the Genesis and the. The birth of a good football team.
A couple weeks in a row, we're saying, hey, this team absolutely stinks.
This is a team that, you know, could be a staple of the shite division.
Listen, hey, you know, they got to get it right.
They got a game on Thursday, so not a whole lot of time to kind of wallow and want to take a bath with a toaster.
They got to get back on the horse.
I'm sure they will.
Yeah, and you know, modern toasters might be waterproof, too.
That's a good point.
We don't know what he's saying.
He probably did figure that out.
I'm sorry to cut you off.
- I'm sorry to cut you off,
figure that out to where it's not like the most
dangerous situation ever like it used to be.
Yeah, like, they put up nets at high
buildings. I think they've made
toasters, not necessarily reactivated.
Don't try it, though. We shouldn't be trying that. Like, no one
should try it, but they're probably better.
No, but we appreciate that society has
tried to take care of that problem a little bit, you
know, because, obviously, immediate regret
from old buddy. Unless the Panthers continue
to play like ass, we shall see. Chris,
we appreciate your overreaction. Let's go
to the next one. This one's from Max
Trabolsi, a wolf of Wall Street photo.
Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but
Big Mike McCarthy
iced that ankle and went over to France
to conduct business. Aaron Rodgers
was throwing Molotov cocktails around
the field like he was protesting. Jalen
Warren is unstoppable, and Darnell's
new nickname may be the Eiffel
Tower. Oh, and guess what?
We get to beat up on some Bronnies
to riddle out any jet lag next week.
Pittsburgh's going to
the Super Bowl.
Here we go.
Here we go.
We got Mike
icing his foot.
Here we go.
We're going to Ferris.
Late as a bull. Here
we go. We got there
two days before the
game, and Aaron Rodgers
said that was
a damn shame. Here we
go. Okay, so
Aaron said he didn't like that you guys didn't go over
there earlier. Big Mike said we had a plan.
You guys win. Who cares? Tone, how do
the Steelers fans actually feel? Is
it what old buddy just said there? Yeah, it
is. I mean, everything was
awesome. I mean, they gave up a lot of
yards and third downs to Tyler
Shuck, which was a bit frustrating, but I think
that was part of the game plan. They only gave up
18 yards rushing on the ground. The D-line
has been playing unbelievable. They got to
Shuck, too. TJ played unbelievable, had
the bad reverse call, and then the offensive
line and the rushing, and Jalen
Warren is unbelievable. Jalen Warren is
fourth in the league in all
purpose yards, and he has 40 less touches
than Bijon and Gibbs in that category.
He's gone over 125
scrimmage yards, or he has the most
games this year with 125-plus scrimmage
yards. He's been unbelievable,
and the whole line has been great. Yeah, we feel
really, really good, and they did the exact same thing
last year when they went to Ireland, the exact same
travel schedule, so it worked
last year, and they won. So, Aaron,
this isn't vacation. This is football, okay?
We're here to win a football game, not go see the Eiffel Tower.
Aaron's iced out on the way
home. We appreciate that. He had just gotten
past, you know, the European border there.
There's still a lot of trip left. I want
to remember how iced out he was if you look up
at the plane on the screen up there.
Love the connection of this team. I like
that they showed up. Peaky blinders, AJ.
I think Aaron, old
school football player, loves those
types of things. I think he feels obligated
to teach these younger guys, like, hey, you're allowed to do
this. This is what you're supposed to do.
Every team he's been a part of, there's been a lot of this
type of shit. Hasn't there been, AJ? Always,
yeah. He always had a thing with the quarterback room.
They would dress up leading in Green Bay when we'd have
this, like, I'm sure you guys did in
Indianapolis. It's not a booster,
first thing, but it's like what you do in college. You have
lunch with the boosters, a big luncheon before our
last preseason game every year. The quarterbacks
would have their own. They were the only group, too.
We just dressed normal. The quarterbacks
had their own themed situation. So he's
big on that. And also, I
was laughing in my head, thinking of Big Mike
on the flight over, probably wearing a compression
wrap on his ankle, and them telling him,
making him get up every once in a while and walk around.
Hey, Mike, make sure you pump your ankle a little bit
and just seeing how annoyed he probably got
with the trainers coming up to him every
40 minutes and making him move his ankle
around, I bet was just a sight to see.
I would like to play
what Aaron said afterwards. We saw
the video from the Pony Express
Andrew Filippone,
Pittsburgh media radio guy.
He
clipped what Aaron said
afterwards, talking about the international games as a whole
and where he stands. Pretty enlightening
stuff. And once again, Aaron Rodgers
holds no punches, AJ.
Didn't really a whole lot
until the second CBA, and there was talk
about doing a week in international
week where you had games in 16
different places, and you just added an extra
bye week. So you play
16 regular season, you have two bye weeks.
One of those weeks would have been an international week.
I think it would have been phenomenal for the game now that the owners
wanted to push for 17 games
for the extra revenue
and because they care so much
about player safety. But
it would have been nice. I think there's
16 opportunities. I mean, you could do
obviously in Canada, you could do in Mexico.
There's been games in Brazil. You could
probably open up another country in South America.
Obviously, there's
a lot of opportunities in Europe.
Ireland, fantastic. France,
Spain, Germany, multiple
games in England. And
then who knows? Obviously, there's
Dubai
and that area has really got into the
sporting world in a number of ways.
You've got the boxing and UFC.
I think it was there yesterday, I believe.
So I think there's great opportunities for expansion
in those things. It'd be awesome to see them
have an
international week because I think it's great for
the game and the expansion of the game.
I wish there was a mandate, though,
from the league. And they would have to
open up their pocketbooks, too, which
maybe they'll look tight on money and
stuff. But I think they should
mandate every team coming over
Sunday or Monday to really enjoy
the culture and
the place you're going.
And you can do events
in those cities and
outreach stuff and community work
but they won't because
they're a little tight.
I love it. Everything has a little
condescending backhand in there, but
a lot of information and I think
he does love the
opportunity to showcase our sport
to others. I appreciate that from
him, especially one of our greats of all time.
And I like that he's
not a shrink-the-game guy like
Tone Diggs is, AJ Hawk.
Yeah, he's kind of the opposite of Tone Diggs. He's saying
we need to open this up and do this. We know Aaron's
a huge, he loves to travel the world and see
expand his horizons and all that.
So yeah, why not? He loves football. He wants to bring that
to the masses. I wonder what other kind of
countries we could get to that we haven't gotten. And I'm only a
shrink-the-game guy because I agree with everything Aaron just
said. They're not growing the game for the right reasons.
It's not for the level of sports. It's for
their pocketbooks only.
Okay. All right. So your quarterback
says it and you just remind yourself
well, you know what? I actually agree with him. Yeah, I got my
marching orders and I will follow them to
my death. Until they start
losing some games. Exactly. Exactly. Yes.
Choose his death. It was
really nice. It was awesome not
having to wait all day to watch them play. I will say
it was awesome to wake up. I love 930 games.
I love having that 930 game. Especially when it's your team
and then you can just relax and watch Red Zone the rest of the day.
That was really nice yesterday. Now, if you
win early, good. Those games have been
bangers recently, like the last few
weeks. Those games have been bangers. You
lose that game that early. It's tough.
It's tough. Just want to let
you know. So winning that game, certainly nice
by one o'clock, but losing
that one, you have to just sit there all day and wallow
and are we going to fire everybody? When are we
doing that?
What's the deal here while other teams are playing?
It was a good setup. I thought one o'clock
manageable to watch all the games. Four o'clock
manageable to watch all the games. Had a little
overtime carry over there. And then primetime
game, Chiefs weren't able to do a damn thing,
but Seahawks defense made it worth watching.
I loved yesterday. Let's get to
the next overreaction. This one's from Patrick.
At CFO Patrick, he's a chief
football officer, wherever he is.
Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but
fuck that.
I'm overreacting. Good start.
Colts are straight up poop soup, dude.
Ed Dodds better have a mandate of trading.
Everyone up to and including
the water boy. The next GM is
going to need a barrel of draft picks and
Jesus on his side to fix
this mess. Hashtag
Daniel Jones. Oh, no,
D-Bot. Oh, no,
D-Bot. I like the name
and look, it's hard to disagree
with him at this point. And then we had Shefty on
earlier. He's saying we can't get a first round
pick for anybody. So, I mean,
we're fucked for the C.O.B.
Obviously, you've got to figure out the quarterback spot
and we don't have it right now,
but yeah, this was tough. I'm
with old boy. I'm with the C.O.B. right there.
Down six, one time
out. Throw a pick on your own half to
Harrison Smith, who's been doing it for a hundred
years. Just tough ending. I don't
think it's hashtag Daniel Jones.
I just think it's a little early in the recovery
old Jones, and
I don't love what we're doing at
all. And the guy showed
up in sweatpants.
As
somebody who wore a tank top on TV
for years and years and years, somebody
that dresses out of place a lot of
the times,
I just think sweats the game day
is the first time GM.
What do you have doing?
The brown bag accessory and the shirt hanging out the
bottom didn't help either.
He didn't know he'd be
on camera. Cool watch. It's a huge walk
there in Minnesota. If you all remember, you've got to walk.
Like Houston, you
go in on the opposite side, you've got to walk
the entire length of the stadium. It's kind of a part
of their game, I think. Minnesota's the same.
You've got to walk two miles to get to your locker
room.
And everybody's going to see you. You better walk
the entire length of the field with your
bags on turf, and we're
going to have cameras the entire way. Somebody
should have given him a heads up, like, hey, you're going to be
a model here while you're walking
through. They're going to get a lot of shots first time GM.
He says, I don't care. I'm doing me. And I like
that. Maybe Ed Dodge is the right guy because he doesn't
conform. Let's go to
the next one, or maybe not at all.
Grown-ish Gambino at
DopeIt'sDev. That is dope.
Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but
I never thought I would
hear the words. The refs
gave the Lions the win in my lifetime.
Entitlement Town and their fans
are in shambles right now.
Hashtag, one pride. Foxy,
Grown-ish Gambino sounds a lot
like you with a shot at tie.
Entitlement Town, I like that.
Absolutely love what Grown-ish Gambino's got
going on. My takeaway from the game wasn't
that Jared Goff is awesome. 14
touchdowns, zero interceptions on
the season. It wasn't that Jameer Gibbs had
over 150 total yards,
or that Amon Ross St. Brown also
had over 150 total errors
or that Jamo had two touchdown
or that the defense is back.
My takeaway from the game was that the refs were finally on our side
against any team, let alone the Green Bay Packers.
That was awesome.
That had me smiling all day today.
I love when you can just take a win like that
because we've taken so many losses in the past that we blame the refs on.
So you've got to enjoy these ones.
Yeah, you certainly do.
Ty, I've never heard entitlement down.
Is that normal up there?
Yeah, you hear that a decent amount, especially from teams within the division.
But I didn't love that everyone, you know, and this morning especially,
like that was the only thing is, hey, you know, the refs robbed us.
And, yeah, they were horseshit.
They were bad in a lot of aspects.
But, again, you know, you can't be missing two kicks within 35 yards.
You just can't do it.
You can't have a bunch of penalties.
It is Groundhog's Day.
The same thing happens over and over.
And, you know, Matt LaFleur said postgame, hey, we're going to stick with Trace Mack.
You know, he'll work his way out of this.
I don't know if he will.
He's missed seven kicks already.
We're not even to Halloween yet.
And you're going to need a kicker who can make kicks, especially chip shots.
There might be, who knows, there might be some local kid down at, like,
a high school there in Green Bay that could step in and make a couple of those.
I just, this has got bad news written all over it, and I don't love it.
I don't want to add insult to injury, but the game day kicks are supposed to be 33 yards.
So.
They look a lot shorter sometimes.
They do.
Yeah, they certainly do.
Shout out to, you know, whoever's setting that up.
Off of game day, trying to, you know, get some more wins.
Steve, do we need to walk back on?
Let's change the jersey number.
Yeah, you're right.
Smack's a tough spot.
Never seen a good kicker.
Smack's, what, a 28?
Never seen a good kicker wear a 28, or with his jersey untucked, with his shirt hanging out like a DB.
It's just too much going on for a kicker.
Seven missed kicks is crazy.
Just make 10 doors, for Christ's sake.
Get in line.
That'll help, Connor.
Mason had a bad game up there.
He did, yeah.
Like, a really, really bad game.
Yeah, late in his career, he had a weird.
Yeah.
He didn't slide for a couple games, didn't he?
Yeah.
But that was about it.
But I think Detroit had, like, five misses or something.
Like, I don't want to say a weird number, but it felt like.
No, it was.
It was weird.
He missed, like, yeah, four or five field goals, I think.
Yep.
That ball gets blocked and tipped, which I think we should give credit to.
But Trey Smack missing a lot of kicks.
He's going to have to start making them, especially if they're going to give him another shot.
He's about one miss away, I think, from going into the kicker carousel,
and maybe another spot will be good for him to restart.
It's hard to tell if a guy's going to be good in the NFL or not.
Different ball.
Different.
Different situation.
Different settings.
For some reason, some guys are great in college, not great in the NFL,
until they find the right spot.
Maybe the right spot is next week.
Let's go to Mikey Page here.
Michael Page.
Hashtag, I don't want to overreact.
But.
It's time we embrace the brand.
New.
Brass.
The same team that used to find a way to lose now finds a way to win.
KC Concepcion is the truth.
Fannin is a dog.
And the Todd father has it rolling right now.
Pittsburgh, you're on the clock.
Whoa, AJ.
Cleveland Browns now kings of the castle in the AFC North.
Tone, the Browns might not just be the same old shitty Brownies.
I mean, Todd Munkin said it.
Browns are going to Browns?
Fuck that.
They haven't since then.
This might be the brand new Browns.
Because it might be B and B.
Oi.
Oi.
Oi.
Oi.
B and B.
The brand new Browns coming to town.
How do you feel about it, Tone?
The AFC North might have a new king, and that's Todd Munkin.
Todd Munkin has been great for the boys, because in years past,
they would have lost every single one of these games.
Deshaun has been making really, really good throws on the final drive of the game
to get them into wins.
It was Jerry Judy a few weeks ago.
It was the one to Fannin this week right here that we're watching right here.
They're making all of their kicks.
They are playing really well, especially away from Cleveland,
where, yes, they normally play great defense, and they'll get wins there,
but they're playing great away.
But we'll see.
You know, it's still very, very early in the season.
They still have plenty of time to turn back into the pumpkin,
because it's about this time every single year that they would do that situation
if they were any good.
Okay, so the Browns are going to continue to be great, we think.
Same old Schmidt for them this year as another kick goes through,
and they get a dub.
They're the number one team in the AFC North.
Let's go to the next ever reaction.
This one's from Ben Johnson at Benny Boy.
Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but the Chiefs have seen a ghost.
Seahawks look like the Bucs from the Super Bowl
and expose the same Dom problems we always have.
Horrible O-line, horrible Pat, horrible kicking.
Did not like that Bucker was short from 58 last night.
Late groupie hit like a 60-yarder in Seattle.
Bucker has a huge leg, short from 58.
Even Sunday Night Football put three points on the board
because it looked like it was down the middle.
Nobody expected Bucker to be short.
Missing kicks, O-line's a problem.
Horrible Pat, they're saying D-butt.
Is that fair or is this an overreaction here?
I mean, I think it's fair.
The Bucker thing is wild.
You know, rarely do we see him.
He missed multiple kicks in the game, Super Bowl-winning kicker.
That was shocking.
The offensive line stuff, I mean, look, I expect Patrick Mahomes,
Andy Reid, and the boys to figure it out and be better down the stretch.
I expect them to get healthy at wide receiver
or maybe even get some help at wide receiver and things will look better.
But I think they got a wake-up call.
Sometimes, you know, you say, hey, it's a good thing
that a team catches a loss at this point in the season.
There was, you know, 5-0 coming to this game,
maybe feeling a little better than they had been playing.
Got punched in the mouth by the Seattle Seahawks,
who are the defending champs.
Huge win.
Big win for Seattle and also a wake-up call for Kansas City.
Conman, Chiefs 5-1.
Is the Chiefs still the Chiefs,
or are we bummed out after what we've seen last night?
I mean, they started hot, so that's all you can really kind of look to.
I think the Seahawks are going to make basically every single quarterback
they play look like this.
They're going to shut down teams typically.
I mean, even when they played the 49ers,
we talked about the 49ers being one of the best offenses in the league.
Their offense struggled against the Seattle defense.
The 49ers defense just stepped up and scored,
a couple times for them.
But, no, I wouldn't be too worried.
This is just one of those things where they've got to get healthy.
They've got no weapons.
And, unfortunately, right now, with where Kelsey is as far as age goes,
he just can't be the number one target as far as the passing game.
So, once Rasheed Rice comes back,
they probably make a move at the deadline at a receiver.
I would feel pretty good if I'm a Kansas City fan still.
All right.
Incredible news to hear from Conman.
I still believe the Chiefs are still the Chiefs,
but I love that Seahawks team last night.
And Sam,
Darnold gave him a post-game interview.
Didn't smile one time.
Looked like he was fighting every single word.
He understands that they have to keep up with a defensive championship.
And JSN is a magician.
This guy is a fucking magician.
I have no idea how he's able to catch some of these balls.
Sam Darnold puts them in a bucket for him.
But this guy's unguardable.
130 yards in the first half or something like that with one touch.
D-Bud, how do we not guard this guy?
Yeah, what is it?
I mean, he's a guy who can move around.
He can play in the slot.
He can play outside.
Sometimes you line him up in the backfield.
So regardless of where he's going to be, he's going to make plays.
And there were times where the Chiefs said, hey,
we're going to match up our good guy on your good guy one-on-one.
Bad decision because JSN is going to win that time in and time out.
Year to year, it's an argument about who's the best at what position.
I think he's separated himself from wide receivers.
I think he's a clear-cut number one.
You got Jamar Chase.
You got Jefferson in that conversation.
But he just does everything good.
He's faster than you think.
He's stronger than you think.
And he creates space in these short windows, man.
He's just unbeatable.
But the thing about it, you know they're throwing the ball.
I think he has like 50% of their targets in the past game,
and he's still productive week in and week out,
on pace to break Calvin Johnson's record.
He's just unbelievable.
And Sam Darnold's doing a good job putting it in the bucket.
And I think Fleury's doing a good job calling it as well.
50%, what's that mean?
That means if they're throwing the ball 10 times, he's getting five of them.
Or 20, he's going to get 10 of them.
Or 40, he's going to get 20 of them.
What about out of 100?
50.
Oh, okay.
Dan had to know that.
He had to understand that.
No, he did not know that.
So when he heard like 20%, what did he think?
Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but Dan had no fucking clue.
Dan had no idea.
Can you imagine Hembo?
What's that?
Can you imagine Hembo when Dan asked him that?
Like, what do you mean?
Are you fucking serious, Dan?
People are going to hear that and be like, huh?
Hembo.
Give me something I can work with.
Hembo has fed Orlovsky.
Numbers, stats.
It's percentages.
For what?
Five, six years now?
Every day?
Feeding them.
Boom, boom, boom.
Hey, to your point, Dan.
Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.
We put them up on a screen, Hembo stats.
Every stat we get from Hembo, we put them up on a screen and say, like, hey, these are coming from Hembo.
Everybody else on ESPN gets all these stats from Hembo, and they just kind of shoot them out.
Think about Dan hearing these stats, not even computing what a percentage means, just going, I like the way that sounds.
Fuck yeah.
75%.
I like that.
Let's go ahead and roll with that.
That's what Dan's been doing.
He's going to be an absolute weapon going forward now that he has a little bit of an understanding of what these numbers mean.
What about school?
What about his kid comes home and, hey, I got a 60% on this test.
Oh, congratulations.
Good work.
Good job.
You could have got a 20.
You got 60.
Unbelievable.
How many is this out of?
70?
60 out of 70?
That's not bad.
You guys are unbelievable.
Dan, we love you.
You're the best.
Let's go to the last one here.
This one's from Tyler Wessel at Ratboy.
63.
Hashtag, I don't want to overreact, but where were these Buccaneers these last six weeks?
I haven't seen a defense that filthy since the 2002 Super Bowl team.
Kalijah Cansey and Vita Veya look like shades of Booger McFarlane and Warren Sapp.
It's about time they all balled out.
Hashtag, we are the crew.
Five sacks, a pick, a forced fumble, and a touchdown from the defensive side of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
If you have a quarterback that only throws for 68 yards in Baker Mayfield and you dominate the other team,
that means your defense was taking over that game.
The Bucks defense certainly did that.
Is this what we should expect from them going forward with Todd Bowles, A.J. Hawk?
I mean, I think we should expect somewhat of an improved defense.
I don't know if you can put this performance out there every single Sunday,
how they took the ball away, they scored on defense,
they scored a two-point conversion that they converted for points.
I don't know if they can do this every week, but this can go a long way for real.
Because imagine when you couple a defense performance like that
with some offensive production, which they didn't really need to.
They ran the ball very well, but imagine when Baker starts to get going
and his thumb starts to feel even better.
Maybe things are looking up for these Bucs.
Ty, how do we feel about the glove that they got for Bake?
Absolutely sick.
The thumb was really, really big, which I didn't know how that would feel.
But, I mean, hey, listen, you go to the Tampa Bay Rays,
who are in the World Series right now, albeit they're not doing the best,
but I would trust that equipment staff with my life.
And it doesn't really look like a receiver glove.
It looks like a batting glove, which I like, which kind of gives Bake an extra flair.
Hard to miss him out there.
And I think Bake felt very protective.
Because on one of the, you know, very, very first plays of the game,
it was a little RPO.
He took that sumbitch himself, never even thought about handing it off,
and dove right into the fray.
Wasn't worried about his thumb or his body at all.
And, you know, he only had a couple completions,
but it looked like he was spinning it pretty good.
So, I mean, job well done to the Tampa Bay Rays equipment staff.
That might be, they might be sending that glove to Canton
when Tampa Bay turns this thing around and potentially
goes to the Tampa Bay Rays.
Especially if the Rays win the World Series.
I mean, there's a lot of magic possible here
with the two teams in Tampa coming together.
What a confidence boost for your team
if your quarterback doesn't even have to throw for 70 yards
for you guys to crush a division rival in the Carolina Panthers.
Congrats to the Bucs.
And I'll tell you, what an overreaction Monday we've had here.
And there's only one way to wrap it up.
And I don't know if you saw this get delivered in there, boys.
Skinny Joey has delivered.
Whizmush.
Whizmush.
Whizmush.
Whizmush.
Right here on the top, I think they have a little bit of an ad for their podcast.
The Skinny with Joey Merlino and Lil' Snuff.
Oh, nice.
Lil' Snuff.
You open this thing up.
You open this up.
Guess what's in there?
Newspaper articles about Skinny Joey.
Forget about it.
What a touch of glass.
Forget about it.
Potential mob boss.
Skinny Joey, potential mob boss.
His familiar AC face, Atlantic City.
Then jury acquits Merlino of threatening Detective Ray.
That's awesome.
Does that come with everyone?
Different article.
Different article.
That's a good touch.
That's great.
Great marketing.
How'd he get in there?
He's got potential.
Let's open up the Philly Times here.
Yeah.
Skinny Joey could get wherever he needs to get.
Big dome one of me.
Because he got acquitted.
Thank you very much.
Okay.
But murder.
He's the best guy around.
Shout out to Skinny Joey.
It looks delicious.
I mean, it looks delicious.
Wow.
It's toasted.
It's toasted.
It's toasted to perfection.
I know.
Is that seven liters?
I'm going to go get some ketchup for sure.
I'll take one bite here just to let people know that I will dabble.
Where's the best one I was going to get around here, Tom?
They don't exist in Indiana, no.
All right.
Pot Belly.
All right.
Yeah.
Pot Belly actually has a great cheesesteak.
Oh, yeah.
Firehouse.
Firehouse Subs does, too.
Yeah.
Allen Pouring actually has a fire cheesesteak.
Penn Station here.
Oh, yeah?
Yeah.
Penn Station has a good cheesesteak.
Penn Station does have a good cheesesteak.
Tight little roll in there.
Yep.
Yeah.
National chain, but you're not going to get it.
Jersey Mike's?
Jersey Mike's actually has a phenomenal cheesesteak.
They do.
Ghost Kitchen Mobile Truck.
They have a really good Philly cheesesteak.
We love the Ghost Kitchen Mobile Truck.
Thank you for coming through the Thunderdome.
Deshaun Watson might book them at his next party, to be clear.
Mm-hmm.
But I'm going to say it.
Joey Merlino's got a damn good cheesesteak.
Yeah.
Joe?
I mean, what else would you say?
You're not going to say it stinks.
That's a good point.
It's got to work.
You said that word earlier.
Here's a photo of Joey Skinny Joey Merlino arriving at his mother's house in South Philadelphia
this afternoon after his release from Allenwood Federal Prison.
Nice.
They say he's showing up right here.
He's a good business man.
Send him to Whizmush.
I'm not going to get into this.
There's a lot of headlines in here.
Skinny Joey.
Now a budding painter just wants to talk about art.
Okay.
Hey, Skinny Joey's lived a lot of lives.
His cheesesteak life is certainly delicious.
We appreciate him.
Shout out to Philadelphia.
And tonight should be awesome.
Six o'clock Eastern.
He did not threaten that judge, right?
That's what the newspaper said.
Picked up paint in the can.
Oh, yeah.
Right here.
Jury acquits Merlino of threatening detective.
Okay.
In court.
Yesterday, Judge Jerome B.
Samandal had instructed those in the audience of the fourth floor courtroom not to respond to the verdict.
So several rows of mob hierarchy, wise guys and family members smiled and embraced, but made little commotion.
Merlino's wife, Deborah, who testified on behalf of her husband, smiled as well and hugged a friend as Merlino was acquitted of any threatening activity.
They got it all wrong, they said.
Got it all wrong.
I'll tell you what, he got it all right here with this chief.
Jay did.
If you are, I guess, coast to coast available, there's a couple states that don't have the trading availability at DraftKings, the best sports book and predictive market on earth.
If you spend five bucks, you get 200 bucks in bonus rewards, paid over 21 days.
Scan the thing.
If you only, if you agree to trade or gamble responsibly, we don't need you being an asshole.
You're not going to win.
Nothing is predictable right now.
But it is nice to have a little scratch, a little bit of cheddar, a little bit of investment on a game.
As we do that, let's make our picks for this evening.
A.J., you've been seeing it very, very well.
D-Butt, who do you like?
How do you like it tonight, pal?
It seems too obvious to go with Dallas, even after Parker said it.
So I'm actually going to go with Philly to cover.
What is it, four and a half now?
Yeah.
All right.
Eagles plus four and a half.
Me, Philly plus four and a half.
At home, in front of this environment.
Yep.
Saquon Barkley supposed to be back.
A.J., you've been seeing it very, very well this year.
Who do you like?
How do you like it?
I am going to trust my instincts on this one.
Give me the Cowboys on the road.
Minus.
Four and a half.
I think they win by seven or more.
Okay.
I'll make my pick on Monday Night Countdown.
But with what A.J.'s been doing in picks, we should listen to him.
And that is going to change how I feel about this game mightily.
You're the man, A.J.
From me and Gumpy out here in Philly, Gumpy, anything you say here?
Let's have a great Monday Night Football.
Great over-reaction Monday, everybody.
Beautiful out here.
Fly, Eagles, fly.
Who are you talking to?
How do you feel about he's talking to that glass window?
I just love watching him talk about it.
Fly, Eagles, fly.
I just love the guys on that field.
He's like a coach.
He's radioing in to the linebacker, the defense.
Yeah, it's broadcast booth, A.J.
I know.
It's awesome.
What do you think about Parker's read of the field, Gumpy?
You've been looking at it all day.
You think the field is good?
The grass does look phenomenal.
It really does.
They've been putting in work over the last few hours here.
It looks great.
We appreciate that John's doing that.
We appreciate the hospitality.
Thank you to the crew that set this up in this room.
Thank you to the Eagles for allowing us in here.
And Monday Night Countdown, 6 p.m. Eastern.
Let's start the party of Monday Night Football as we wrap up week seven of the
NFL season.
Boys in the Thunderdome, good work.
I'll see you guys tomorrow.
Thank you, too, guys.
That was good.
Safe travels.
Can't wait to get back home.
It's been a long journey here.
Hey, that Mosquito Bowl movie?
Mm-hmm.
It looks sick.
Sick trailers.
Yeah.
I think it's really good.
I think it's a really good movie.
That's what he do.
What do you think?
Peter Berg is a weapon.
He's an incredible talent.
His crew around him, Alex, Ezra, everybody from his editing crew, there was a name of
the production company that came up.
I should have remembered that because I got a chance.
I got a chance to work with them.
All the boys.
I mean, it was great seeing Tom and Ray and Skarsgård and, you know, just getting a chance
to be around Galson, who I've been following along with on the internet.
I didn't know he was such a massive ordeal.
I mean, it was just, yeah, it was really cool to be there.
It was really cool to experience, and I think the movie is really good.
I think.
From my understanding, I think the movie is really good.
After watching it, I had tears.
I cried at the end.
Yeah, I think, we'll talk to Peter Berg tomorrow, but I think Mosquito Bowl is going to be good.
I think it's going to do good, and what an honor it is to be a part of it.
It's just an absolute honor.
I'm very, very thankful.
I'm very, very pumped to see how people feel about it, and yeah, we had a blast.
Thank you for the invite to everybody that had us there.
Samantha got to get dressed up, do a red carpet.
That's cool.
First Sergeant Gartland got a chance to see everybody.
It was like a reunion, you know?
Two weeks in Australia felt like we were together for so long, and then we don't see each other
at all, and then we get to see each other again.
It was cool.
I'm honored to be a part of that film, and the boys crushed it, absolutely crushed it.
I think it's going to be worthy of the watch.
Two hours and four minutes, AJ.
It's not too long.
It's pretty perfect, actually.
Perfect time, especially in the theater.
You said October 30th will be the first time it's available for the general public, right,
in the theater?
Yes, October 30th in theater, and then Netflix November 25th, so it's got a long haul in
the theaters, which I think is abnormal, right, Ty?
Isn't that kind of an abnormal thing for a Netflix movie?
Yeah, big time, especially if it does go.
It does go to the theater usually like two weeks after that, a very, very limited run
mostly, and it'd be in New York, L.A., big cities, but it looks like this one, I mean,
obviously, if you're giving themselves at least a month or longer, it's going to be
in more theaters, presumably, for more people to see it, so yeah, this is not the commonplace,
not the norm for movies that are produced by Netflix.
All right.
Well, it's an honor to be a part of.
I think you boys will enjoy it, and thank you, boys, for all the assistance in this
process. Actually, I don't know much
about movies i don't know much about acting i don't know much about what i'm supposed to expect
i don't know much about what comes when in this entire world ty you've been a massive resource
for me i appreciate the hell out of you buddy absolutely man i'm very excited to uh to you know
be able to see it and it is cool you know kind of just being like obviously i'm not involved but i
kind of feel like i have been you know in the process a little bit with you here um so it's
it's been awesome i can't wait for it to come out can't wait to see it running some lines you know
absolutely lines as i'm fucking they got some hey they got some zoom in shots of my face
where i am pissed i am not happy with who i'm yelling at i mean that there's one of them
there's a lot of those that chinese theater screen huge ty you know better than me i guess
that screen is gigantic that's why they do everything there yeah right yeah absolutely
massive i i can't remember i mean now
you know better than me i guess that screen is gigantic that's why they do everything there
with new theaters coming up but at one point i think that was like one of if not the biggest
theater screen in the united states but i know they changed the name to the tcl theater it's
not tech i mean it's still the chinese theater but tcl must have bought them out but yeah that's
what it's known for you know like i mean the the laundry list of like massive massive movie
premieres that have been there is is crazy so pretty special that you got to do that yeah a
lot of the movies i've seen the trailer for mosquito bullet like i got some a little bit of
uh like saving private ryan vibes when they're storming the beaches like you feel like it's that
i didn't know what to expect but i felt some of that early on like okay yeah sign me up
it is definitely a war movie but i think it's also like uh hey we shouldn't be doing war movie
you know i think there's a couple of those messages in there as well like hey this is
reality of what war is and what it has been i think peter bird has taken a lot of pride in that all the
people that are shooting it like the battle scenes are man i mean it is it takes you there feels like
you're in the middle of it it's obviously very scary and then there's moments where the boys are
having camaraderie it's i think it's really well done i my first time seeing it was at that and
and i bawled my eyes out i was so proud to be a part of it and uh yeah it's cool shit it's cool
shit okay let's get out of here we'll be back tomorrow monday night countdowns tonight aj
