The transcript explores the evolving landscape of NFL and college football, spotlighting standout performances and emerging talent. Caleb Williams' resilience and elite in-pocket play, especially after a hamstring injury, position him as a generational force in the league, while Drake May’s strong performances with the Patriots create a compelling rivalry narrative with the Bears. The Bears, under head coach Ben Johnson, are seen as a rising powerhouse, with a culture of accountability and high-level offensive execution, while key injuries—including to Cole Comet and Devont Adams—pose significant challenges to team stability. The Indianapolis Colts are undergoing a leadership transition, with their general manager fired and a potential overhaul in the off-season. The Rams face roster uncertainty due to multiple injuries, affecting their offense. The analysis also touches on the shifting dynamics of college football, with BYU’s energy and intensity standing out as a cultural benchmark. Overall, the narrative emphasizes how player health, coaching culture, and team resilience are defining the future of football, with the next decade likely to see deep competition between elite franchises like the Bears and Patriots. The discussion underscores that success now hinges not just on talent, but on consistency, mental discipline, and long-term planning.
Hello beautiful people and welcome to a magnificent fantastic fuel Good Friday October 23rd, 2026. This sports program begins right now football is the greatest in football is the reason why I'm here in this beautiful Salt Lake City for the Utah you toasting the Houston Coves as the points are in abundance and electricity is certainly going to rattle through this beautiful state yet again Utah favored by seven are they going to be able to continue to roll in first year head coach Morgan Scali who's been in Utah since 2007 played here loves this place when winning him gets the gig over in Michigan who's going to take over well they bring in a defense coordinator to lead this group and they haven't missed a single beat and then on the other side Willie Fritz this dude wins everywhere he goes the big 12 is all of a sudden becoming not only electrifying but a title compending conference number 14 and number 10 take each other on only one loss between the two of them and whenever you talk about what can happen anything are these two teams going to be vying for a college football playoff spot are these two teams potentially going to win the national championship no one knows football is a funny thing just like college football the NFL has had ridiculous parody we've had phenomenal storylines last night week seven of the NFL season kicked off in magnificent fashion Caleb Williams this man's the next one whenever he was coming out of USC after transferring from Oklahoma this man was being talked about as a generational talent I remember there was a bunch of drama coming out you know like his dad was saying this he wanted a percentage of a team if he was going to a place all this fake misinformation potentially partial truth coming out about this Caleb Williams character who wasn't able to really win a lot of games in college wasn't able to win a title for USC wasn't able to win a title for Oklahoma was able to win a husband but is this guy going to be an actual guy in the NFL he painted his nails he obviously did some modeling he had a finance fund already before he gets the NFL there was a lot of questions on whether or not Caleb could become a pro by people that didn't know him and I'll Caleb one and tell people is I just want to be great I think he has a picture of all Tom Brady's accomplishments has background of his iPhone this guy has remained committed to becoming a goat now there was the hamstring injury earlier this season we thought maybe that was going to knock him off track because what he and Ben Johnson we're going to try to cook up this season then case kingdom comes in Tyson Beijing comes in and I think Caleb Williams got a chance to sit back watch the Ben Johnson offense operate kind of see it from a different perspective because he had an injury much like what Bryce Young was able to do in Carolina whenever he got bench for Andy Dalton different perspective no pressure on me right now let me get healthy and when I come back I'm going to operate in full form and that is exactly what Caleb Williams is doing right now a lot of the conversations going to be about how he's operating within Ben Johnson system which I think everybody's been asking if he could do since Ben Johnson arrived last year well I think he has if you look at his rush yards pre hamstring I think he was up over a hundred yards and two games now he's under 20 and two games he's sitting in the pocket he's finding the players that are wide open and when he has to make magic he can roll out of the pocket flip his hips this way do a look at this shit I don't know how you do I don't know how you do that is why everybody was talking about him as a generational player in his arm talent absurd and then on the other side Drake Bay Drake Bay in this New England Patriots team have played much better this later part of the early season here and Drake Bay certainly had a good night last night AJ Brown gets back into it Ramon Dre Stevenson has been the weapon for the Patriots over the last couple years that you could depend on especially whenever he's on the field as opposed to not on the field Boston Conor walks out of Thursday and I football with an L to the Chicago Bears just like Kendrick Perkins kind of told him what's gonna happen they don't cover but I do know this this could be a preview and I said yesterday and I know some people mocked me especially the man that I'm about to introduce we could be saying these two guys play each other on the biggest stage for the next 10 to 15 years and I think we would all welcome that I think we'd all be appreciative of the talent I think we'd all be appreciative of what the future of the NFL holds if these two guys Drake and Caleb can remain healthy and their teams for Abel Ben Johnson we both have massive respect for these guys if they can continue to you know put rosters around them Chicago and New England are in a great spot for another 20 years and I think we all just have to kind of understand and realize that after a fantastic Thursday night now it's not just me here blabbering in Salt Lake City look at his mountains so beautiful I think he's would be rolling hills maybe I don't know if these are necessarily mountains just yet I don't know topography as well as I should even though I've been living out in Utah now seemingly but it's a blast here back in Indianapolis the boys in the Thunderdum you got a college football national champion Super Bowl champion Ryder Cup winner AJ Hall Jace not a red no bright was popped off the screen I just saw myself for the first time on screen it was good yeah I don't think I fully expected you to just be this big of a no high state home this is just a red it's just a red Q zip into high state I love it I want to let you know and we find out how much you love Ohio State whenever we're incredibly lucky to do a field pass for the college football playoffs in Ohio State down at halftime I talked to table I boss to Connor and Ty Schmidt you remember AJ at halftime and I can you forget how much he is obsessed with the Ohio State Buckeyes I think gone man yeah he absolutely loves him I don't know if he would know who he was if it wasn't for the Ohio State Buckeyes but yeah I remember Gumpy kind of getting into a withhaco because it was versus Miami and AJ I don't know if I've ever seen him so pissed just to be talking about Ohio State losing and to be filmed while that was happening if you remember he also said he did not consent to Foxy filming him then yeah he did not consent to filming then but he does now thank you for that AJ we appreciate it what did you see last night in you know whenever I mentioned Super Bowl match up between the Patriots and the Bears being the next 10 to 15 years you said the Bears are we going to talk about the Bears really because the Bears have been an organization that have been you know kind of cursed or not the best for a long long time huge city huge football town massive massive epicenter of magic if it could become another you know prolific franchise in the NFL Caleb Williams might be the guy in Ben Johnson is a freak AJ I know you're the all-time leading tackler for the Packers but it feels like his Bears team is going to be good they were able to win with case they were able to win with time now they weren't able to continue because they're back up quarterback that's how that goes but if you're if you're able to win whenever the most important position goes down which they are which might happen every season if it does I mean a lot of quarterbacks go down for a few games the Chicago Bears are a wagon age and I don't think that's stopping I think we're just beginning this entire thing AJ yeah I think you are you are correct there I think Caleb last night was impressive to me like he we always talk hey you got to make him throw from the well make him throw from the pocket don't let him get outside and do everything I think last night we got to see a little bit of all of his skills that he's sitting here like right here in the pocket ripping the ball across the middle and then when he needed to he's able to use his legs by some time and make throws it you know honestly a lot of quarterbacks in the NFL yeah probably cannot throw like you said you're you're rolling out your left square up get your shoulder squared fire that ball love when later in the thing and right here obviously this is just unbelievable blocking down field as a as a fan of football I love seeing these guys out front blocking for Luther Burton and this Bears team especially the offense they are absolutely rolling right now I mean this is ridiculous play right here when you think about just what he's able to do and how frustrating that would be as a defense third and two and all of a sudden he scrambles for three and a half and breaks you back and then keeps the thing going so great night for the Bears I mean honestly though the the Patriots didn't play bad this was a fun game to watch especially going into half when Stevenson takes that in with basically a walkoff touchdown going into half time to make this thing I think about going in half time twenty to seven that feels a lot worse and going in twenty to fourteen so this thing made it interesting I think for everybody and it was a fun game to watch I think both these teams are gonna go far well especially after the Drake May Red Zone turnover you have that to kind of save scoreboard and continue momentum going into second half and it did become a thriller you know as we get a little cagey down the stretch I watched this late last night because I had the incredible opportunity to be a part of a movie premiere out here for the mosquito bowl it was such a wild experience but I was watching this game late night last night like very late last night on the plane over man I love where the NFL is that and I love I mean Cairo saying let me give me it let me go do this 58 yards 135 left in Kirk Herb she pointed out in real time it was a great call if he misses that Drake May gets the ball at the 48 right there I mean down six keep it or down three keep it moving how you're doing Drake May goes and wins that game we have like a maybe a pillar moment for Drake May's MVP case at the end of the season on Thursday night football remember when he did this instead Cairo Santos has never hit a ball this far this stadium has never really had it from a Chicago Bears kicker and he knocks it through I mean that's just the Ben Johnson mindset I think oozing through the entire locker room and he's gonna hit a little stanky leg and go better best never let it rest of your duties better and you see how much the boys love them and have rallied around them we know he's an attention to detail guy we know he's an accountability guy we know he's a standard guy in our life that is always worked in football and in every other bucket so if you're able to get that culture instilled and now that becomes the expectation I think you're in a good spot with the humans that come in there whether they've been bears or not before I think they just buy in to what you're trying to do and also Ty Schmidt Ben Johnson offense coordinator Dennis Allen's not going anywhere right I'm
- No, I don't think he's going to go anywhere. Those two as a one-two punch, with the absolute chaos the defense can bring and then the shit that Ben Johnson can cook up, whenever we say 15, 20, 30 years, that's a very real thing. I think we're all realizing and acknowledging in real time. Is that accurate tishment, owner of the Green Bay Packers? - Yeah, without a doubt. I mean, you just, both of these guys, like Dennis Allen, we've kind of seen what he's been as a head coach. I think he is smart enough to maybe recognize right now how good of a position he's in with Ben Johnson. But at the end of the day, it comes back to Ben Johnson and Caleb. Like, Caleb, if he can stay healthy, that he is going to be the face of the league within the next 10 years or whatever, like passing out of the pocket, sure. But those plays, where he has to scramble and the unimprovised stuff, there are just very few, maybe him and Lamar, or maybe the only two guys in the NFL that can do that. You feel like you have him bottled up and it just, it never worked. Like every time they needed a play last night, whether it was third down or, you know, like second and long or whatever it was, it seemed like he was always finding someone and moving the chains. So yeah, I mean, as a Packers fan, like you like where they're at, but that division as a whole, it does feel like you can't really deny it anymore. Like the Bears have arrived and if they can stay healthy, like they are going to be here for a long time. - Fun to watch. I like to see that city come alive around football again. And, you know, with the passing of Mike Dicca this season, we got a chance to relive Chicago in the glory days, you know, 'cause the amount of packages that were put together, the amount of highlights, the amount of commercials, the amount of dancing, the amount of entertainment, the amount of dominance that the Bears had way back. It feels like it looks different than it did back then, but it might be must-see TV and it might end up in the damn Super Bowl. Now, I know Zedos Pump Victory Stakes late night last night. I think all of Chicago should be excited. And boy, I wish we were in a position at the Bears or in. - Or the Patriots were in. - Or about 10 other teams that didn't have a school sit in. We'll be joined by an insider here in about two minutes, but before we get to that, we got to go to one half of the hammer. Done! Cowboys, AP tone. Hey, town. Riddle me this. I was trading, okay. - Sick. - That's awesome. Me and Gums woke up, checked the trade markets. Very similar to the sports book operation. Log in, it's all there. I thought it was gonna be vastly different. I thought I was gonna have to utilize brain parts that I've never used before, especially saying that I'm trading. Instead, draftings, best sports book on earth. If you're of age, coast to coast, you can come join us there. Just if you agreed to gamble responsibly. And it felt like last night's responsible thing was to ride alongside our air appearance, but look who's back hitting minus 160s for the team. I'm sorry. Plus 100. - Yep. Exactly. - Go ahead and cash it, tone. I felt good about this early, a little cagey affair, but it felt like they were able to spin it. The 50 and a half over under, even though it started out very slow. That taught us that as I'm watching him, like, oh, the offense is gonna be able to move. Sports books thought that the offense is gonna be able to move. Caleb and Drake show up for us, tone. Anything else that hit last night other than our boost, which we should need to celebrate a little bit. - Yeah, the boost hit. That's our second time this year that we've had the quarterbacks for each team go over. We are 2 and 0 when we do that situation. So that we should remember that moving forward. We're 4 and 3 on the season for the boost. So, oh, I don't know. That's a winning record. Shut up. We should be 5 and 2 if the Lions would just run it on the goal line and set. - Remember, we decided we're not gonna get angry at these people to get angry at it. We're just gonna say, we understand that. - Well, I thought we had a group come say. It might have just been me and said, I thought our angle was gonna be just like when the New York Times and stuff says stuff. We're gonna be like, we understand why you feel that way. We completely comprehend that type of feeling 'cause we have that towards you. - You're right. - A lot of different times. - We understand how you could feel that towards us. We don't wanna lose. We'd like to win. But boy, it was nice to get a dub with how hot it was getting in the streets on our particular boost. - Yeah, it was nice to get the dub, even though we have a winning record on the year in that situation. But other than that, it did go over. It was heavily trending under until you get two touchdowns in the last minute of the first half. So if you're an underbetter, that one really sucked for you. The Bears win and cover, ending the streak of 10 straight dogs on primetime covering in that situation. So yeah, it was a big night for the gamblers, especially if you were on the favorites and the over what you know, is a general situation that gamblers are on. But when you look at it, Caleb was absurd. You guys talked about his moving in the pocket. It's insane how well. And I think it actually helped him to your point, having the hamstring injury because he's doing it less and he's looking to throw more with the moving in the pocket. Him doing that is just insane. Drake doing the same exact thing, looking great. So yeah, overall a great game for the quarterbacks, a great game for us, a great game for the overbetters and the favorites. So yeah, overall, very, very good. - I appreciated Thursday night football. We had an injury last night at the tight end position. Let's bring in an expert, shall we? Junior NFL insider for ESPN and NFL Network. And I'll tell you, if he got to work in those studios down there by so-fi at all, he certainly would enjoy the hell out of his life. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time for a weekly wrap up with rap sheet and friends, us being the friends, he being rap sheet, Ian Rapichpoor. (clapping) - Hey baby, you don't know. - Rap, you ever go out to those studios out there next to so-fi? - Sure do, I was out there the first three Sundays of the season and I'm going out there in November to do game day mornings. Pretty sweet, right? - Yeah, pretty sweet, I'd say. I'd say that is maybe the most beautiful set of studios I've ever seen in my life. Every toilet, I can't stop saying it. Every toilet's a bidet, like, if that's how- - It's what you wanted to be. Now did you pay attention to like, there's like a little playbook for how to use it. Tough to figure out in a minute, but once you do, it's pretty nice. I like that, it kind of happened to dabble while you're sitting down on what's gonna be dablin' with the rear end there, the hind end. Yeah, if that's how they're treating the shitters though, you're just gonna think about everything else. It is wonderful, okay, let's get back to last night. Cole Comet, obviously, Andrea, everybody says, doesn't look good, do we have any updates there? And yeah, yeah, any other conversation coming out of a great Thursday night football game, rap. - Yeah, bad injury for Cole Comet. If you watch it closely, I know he got contacted, hitting the knee, basically, but it was really a non-contact injury. You could see his knee buckle right before the hit. The belief is it is a serious and season ending knee injury. He's having an MRI, actually, has had an MRI right now. Ben Johnson's gonna talk to reporters later today, but there's not a lot of optimism here. I think at last night's game, there's not a lot of optimism either. It is likely that he's gonna miss the season. And I know they have Cole Comet's level and who is excellent, excellent. But they ran two tight ends a lot. This guy is really good and a great human. This sucks for the Chicago Bears. - It certainly sucks. - Lovelin got a little bit more action. Ben Johnson will be able to figure it out, but he loves having great tight ends. So we said nothing but positive thoughts and prayers to Cole Comet and Godspeed in his recovery. I was hoping we'd have no more injuries. It seems like we will continue that. Last question from me before the boys, we'll kind of hit you on a lot of those. Indianapolis Colts, okay, we fire our general manager after last week's loss to the Tennessee Titans who were the number one team in the Shite Division. So, and also in the AFC South. They get their first win in the season. Their players still want more, not happy getting in the fights. Our team fires general manager now, Quentin Nelson-San. - In fact, great time here. I went in a life here, all good memories. I had a lot of good people here. And then Jonathan Taylor said, "I'll just focus on what's next year." But we're here and from you, we're here for everybody. Everybody's available. Who would be making these decisions? And do you expect the Colts to make whole sale changes in the next week and a half before the trade deadline? - So, first of all, trade deadline. This year, it's a little further back than usual. So, I believe it's November 9th. It's whatever the Tuesday after the first week of November is. So, that's when the trade deadline is. So, still a little bit of time. My sense is to where the Colts are is this. They got a couple more games where they really have to make the decision like, do we trade these guys? They want to give Shane Steak and the opportunity to see if he can win games. If they win two, it's like, okay, we're in the mix. It's still out there. We'll see what happens. If they lose two, then it's like, all right, this is, we probably know which way the season is going. Let's capitalize on some of these really good assets and maybe trade some guys. You almost never see a fire sale ever. This does remind me maybe of the Ron Rivera commanders from three years ago, where, you know, they traded, I believe it was Montess, Sweat, and Chase Young in the same day. I think that was right. And so it is possible we have seen it. And, you know, the, I thought it was crazy that the Colts decided not to extend Quentin Nelson before the season. I didn't understand it at the time. Obviously, I think there's a lot of things Chris Bauer would like to have back, but I imagine that's one of them. So everyone's looking for guards. I mean, he would be, he would be one that I think would make sense. Jonathan Taylor would be one that would make sense to Forest Buckner is another one. There's a lot of good players on the Colts with expiring contracts that just weren't locked up for whatever reason. So like, if they do a quote unquote fire sale, like, they'll be able to get back some real stuff. OK, quick question. Those are all really good players, but for some reason we haven't been able to win with them whatever the case, I don't like it. But we are going to suck for a bit. Who are some of the names that are in the general manager world? Would this be?
something we have to wait and see to see what head coach is available and what the head coach wants to do like how forward thinking should we as coach fans be because Ed Dodds I think he's gotten some interviews other places but I don't think I mean unless they win every game and go 13 and 4 here down the stretch and somehow Ed Dodds has been able to change the culture into a winning one as opposed to what it had been over the last like 10 years as kind of a stagnant in the middle ball ball club which maybe he does maybe he is able to do that how how when are we thinking about the next name that's coming to the polls and is that even a realistic thought if we don't know who the coach is going to be I think it's fair to say that the future of Shane Stuykin is very much up in the air like it would be they go third they go 11 and 6 11 and 6 then whatever it is they go 11 and 6 then I think Shane Stuykin probably will come back I've always thought he's a good head coach he's just he's never really had that franchise quarterback he's never like it's been frustrating to watch and I'm sure there's a lot of things he would like to have back to like obviously you know obviously they they take Anthony Richardson the first round that was a big bust and there's a lot of things that have contributed to the frustration but anyway to answer your question I would say you need to know what happens with the head coach first because what you don't want to do is say this guys are general manager but we have the opportunity to hire this great head coach and now we can't because we hired a GM so I think you need to go into the offseason being like we are open to everything we will probably need a new general manager but let's try to find the best people we can have and figure out who goes first but like you know they don't have a first round pick they probably need a franchise quarterback might be a bit I might be a bit for the coach we paid a lot for a franchise quarterback Daniel Jones is our franchise quarterback all right and we just need to understand it because nobody's going to be trading for that contract so Daniel Jones needs to figure out how to play quarterback okay that's what we need him to go back this first time games Anthony Richardson got caught up with something in Indianapolis last week it came out this week that's going to get thrown away let's not even worry about I mean I am not I am not trying to minimize anything but I did not know one could still be arrested for that yeah Indiana's real do that's why I went everybody saying that I'm doing that on my show it's like yeah right that's it's definitely sage we're gonna get swatted at this place in Indiana they just allowed cold beer on Sunday like eight years ago okay so let's I'm here in Utah I think I think we could probably do a similar I love I'm sorry but on that note yeah I still love cold beer okay so there was PBR remember there was PBR Pro Bowling rodeo nope PBA Pro Bowling Association came to Indianapolis all right one of their bowlers guy was good dude this guy had good could read the oil patterns by anybody he was unbelievable this guy he was good he got caught up similar situation here in car okay there's full panic I believe what ended up happening was okay let's let's do some stuff let's figure it out so I think the state of Indiana understands like we are in a changing time I brought it up to the governor whenever he was letting us know that the Chicago Bears are coming to Indiana I brought up to him like hey you know we're doing a lot of dancing and celebrating about taking business from Illinois or being able to get business from Illinois over here is that for the potential hundreds of millions of dollars that have traveled to Illinois to Michigan to Kentucky to Ohio to all the states surrounding us about cannabis you know to do that and there's a bunch of research and he goes you know there is good movement we'll have to get we're looking to it or whatever so I mean there's a chance that in the next turn of the century or so that marijuana gets legalized in the state of Indiana like it is in all the states around Indiana oh yeah here we go this is me with the governor on the show at the combine so I have I've pushed for this pretty good just strictly because I don't want to get in the situation where the cops who are good people feel forced to arrest me because I have weed on me so Indiana is a place that I'm not you know I travel to and from I'm always super smart about it that's why it's sage on my desk it's vitamins on my desk it's never weed but for me this doesn't change how I view Anthony Richardson okay at all I still think Anthony Richardson has a phenomenal amount of talent I think he has the capabilities in his body to be a great NFL quarterback it's like did he just not get put on the right path on how to be a pro in the cults at Florida when he was in high school like when does it all start and when is it all potentially you know flip the switch I hope it's with us you know maybe we get a new coach in here they see Anthony Richardson and they can reach him and have him do everything he was doing before he got hurt this year in a very weird way but feels like we got a whole new era coming to the Indianapolis quotes from the sounds of it in Shane Stuykin's going to be the OC for the Chargers and they're probably going to win so that's just a prediction at this exact point I still think the quotes can be 13 and four though let's never forget it let's turn to a team that is also two and four just like the Indianapolis quotes nobody's talking about the Los Angeles Rams go ahead AJ rap sheet yeah I guess Puka left practice yesterday with some what a calf injury Devont taking you let us know how long he made me maybe out and also just the Rams in general miles Garrett like what are we looking at when you talk about the Rams and first off is Puka gonna play this week I don't know Puka's going to play this week I was told his calf injury is not considered to be major which is good had some tests and stuff yesterday so you know minor is good but when you have a calf injury on Thursday night as minor as it could be it's like you still might not be able to play Sunday so I I just don't know the answer right now I'd say it's very much up in the air Devont Adams is having surgery to basically clean out the hamstring tendon it was kind of like this is like kind of weird but it was like like coming off anyway and this basically just pulled it off so it was an injury he's battled it for a couple years and it just ripped so he's having surgery to kind of fix it should be about six to eight weeks so I was told around the time of the buy for the Rams is when he should be back but like I mean look at that list I mean you got Devontes probably six to eight Kobe Turner's on I R Poodle Ford out for the season miles Garrett so I was told for miles Garrett that it is likely he returns to practice next week which would be about I believe that would be see it's either seven or eight or eight weeks from the injury I think that's seven weeks from the injury so could potentially play week eight I think against the commanders have I remember correctly but miles Garrett likely returning to practice next week is like actual good injury news for the Rams okay let's talk about another quarterback that could potentially take his team to the Super Bowl gonna be wearing an interesting glove from my understanding tie has a question for you yeah rap she what can you tell us about uh bake you know they actually haven't looked as bad with Jalen Daniels but they're kind of in the position where they need to go now he was a full participant at practice yesterday is he good to go on Sunday feels like it's trending that way I would expect him to play on Sunday and he has you know you mean tried to play last week wasn't able to throw which is you know obviously a significant portion of being a quarterback um but was able to throw this week has a cool glove is gonna protect the movement so basically make sure that his thought I mean this is this is pretty cool I mean Greg Oman does a good job this is good details right here um and so Baker is going to protect himself and likely play probably needs to and like you know that's a team that should be in playoff contention they're not right now so they need to win and Baker Mayfield coming back willing himself back on the field like he knows they needed too hey sorry about that I was reorganizing some things over here uh the plot the glove by the way sorry to interrupt Todd Bulls has just said for sure that Baker Mayfield will start so there you go breaking jump coach Bulls there's a backstory on that glove you know that was being reported down there in Tampa Bay uh Greg Oman says cool backstory on Baker Mayfield's new glove bucks reached out to Nike who had made a custom protective glove for Mike Tratt but that wasn't thumb specific that led them to the raise who in the midst of per pennant push sending equipment staffer over to box facility met with Mayfield help make a custom glove they even brought over three more of them right before getting on the plane in Milwaukee team Tampa Bay is much more than just wishing each other good luck out there shout out a raise they could potentially win their first ever world series today looking after Baker Mayfield I like when it comes together like that I like when a city comes together like that and I hope this works now what if the glove is a complete backfire you know and then now we got to blame the Tampa Bay race and I don't want to do that I don't want to do that at all uh there's some other quarterback questions go ahead tone days yeah rap CJ Stroud Bryce Young obviously they are playing really really good football and neither of them has been page yet that's and the clock is ticking on there is that a situation where that can be done in season especially with how well they're playing or is that something that may wait until the offseason and what do you think might be the hold up uh I would say for CJ Stroud before week one when he basically turned down their last offer it was like we're going to talk after the season he wanted to let his play do the talking which he has played extremely well uh he has played extremely all the prices probably going up which is why he wanted to be like this um it's a risk players know that um he has taken a risk and I would say through six games he is playing exceptionally well and they look like their head in the right direction too um with Bryce Young I don't know that talks got to a place where they were with CJ I think he's there more wait and see I would be surprised if a quarterback come
contract is done in the middle of the season because like why would it be you'd like as much time as possible and everybody wants to see the full product. That said there's gonna be a bunch of quarterbacks that we're gonna see get paid this off season and I would probably add these two to the list because they are like those that like hold discussion like well which ones better like I still don't know the answer but both look really good. Yeah I um yeah I you know yeah it's been startling to me Ian Rapport you know and you know who has been given me a lot of flack potentially. I watch hard knocks okay I watch hard knocks. I became a massive Seattle Seahawks fan yeah okay I like the way McDonald's operate they just want a super bowl they sell for whatever billions their owner he's a tweeter this guy tweets people I've noticed so everything he quotes me stuff everybody he is a tweeter tweeter which I respect and appreciate that he's out there doing it but they've lost a couple games now here and Seahawks fans are saying um that damn curse I think it's because they don't have a number one running that Connor has a question for you Rapport. Yeah Rappsheet Zach Charbonet Pat's talking about he is allegedly back is he a full go or are we gonna see a you know heavy dose of Charbonet on Sunday or what's the situation there and Seattle will they be interested in a type of Jonathan Taylor trade perhaps well um we'll start with the Zach Charbonet part first I would expect him to play I don't know the carry load yet but like he's back full go they really have taken their time they've used I think the full three weeks so I'd expect him to play and to play a lot as far as the Jonathan Taylor thing I mean you know Ed Dodds has does have ties the uh who's running the personal department there does have ties to Seattle uh knows John Schneider incredibly well that's that whole sort of like tree or whatever is is all sort of the same by the way same as um Nolan Teasley who's in Minnesota wonder if they could use one as well if Jonathan Taylor is available I would expect many teams to be interested I wouldn't be surprised if it was um I wouldn't be surprised if Seattle was one of them it's really just like what do you have to give up rap to get them two ones it sounds like if everybody's interested that's what it sounds like you know hey it's a supplied demand biz brother that's what this is you know the goal right they don't have a one because of sauce like you know that's what they're gonna try to get back and if they have the kind of market that players never have during the season then like maybe they could get it maybe it's a one give a little something back but I just know if you are like talk about you know could Ed Dodds keep the job like he is a respected personnel guy um I know around the league people think highly of him the trades are gonna be part of the reason for how they determine it so like if he does a great job he gets a huge return maximizes the value like all of that matter so if they do end up trading Taylor like I expect several teams to be interested and I think the price will be high I um I like the people view Ed Dodds highly around the league why is that just what ends up happening well first of all like I know you're asking because they've been banned obviously and he's very close to Chris found genuinely I'm genuinely wondering like because no no there's been a lot of conversation about Chris Ballard being an incredible GM too I've said it because he has like gone through drafts made picks he has guys that are really good at football on our roster he's been able to spend money and keep and retain people but we've never won we've never won right right and like to judge a good GM it's like not how you draft or it's like do you build a winning team like I mean Chris Ballard was there 10 years and really never replaced Andrew look good man yes yes I agree but reality of life I'm a panseason ticket holder we have a fucking one in ABC south and over a decade just guy he never won the ABC South as the general manager in the votes I don't know how that's possible I know I genuinely I mean I'm not in favor of that happening I agree 10 years yeah I think the NFC East has had what 15 different winners somehow they only got four teams in 10 years you know so it's like you would assume the parody of everything would at least give us one we never did it but I understand that people like respect Chris Ballard because he's a good man he is he loves ball he can be in a ball I assume the same for Ed Dodds but it's like I also I don't understand what I understand you're not wrong you are not wrong because the only real thing that matters is like how many games do you win and Dodge was there with Chris Ballard on all of his major decisions he was the sounding board but I don't assume that he was for every decision but that is his boss so the reason I say he's a respected scout is because scouts go on the road they talk to each other they hear each other talk about how players are valued and when I talk to other people they say Dodge does a nice job he's very good now the record is what it is so it's like I can't tell you that he's a great GM because everyone with the codes right now it's all bad but that is what people think of it like will he be the future GM like who knows hard to imagine but I'm just telling you that's what people think about it okay I like the people like everybody that's in our building because they get the better of us all the time I don't know is it because they're good people and they lack layer guys probably I appreciate Ed Dodds and Chris Ballard for what they've done for Indianapolis is humans and everything we're a deep shit trying to build a winner again okay we agree we are in a very very bad but we have found ourselves in a very terrible position and we have two weeks November 10th two a little over two weeks to make a lot of big decisions I have you can I ask you something do you want to win the next two games no dude I know because what do we do I don't know what I I have no idea like maybe we went rattle off a 13 or whatever we end up 13 or 4 you know maybe we do that maybe we just need a and I've heard Ed Dodds is a little bit more of a hard-ass in situations than Chris Ballard was because it just felt like you're not a lot of accountability in the building which I don't think is ever led to a successful organization and anything you know I don't think that has ever happened and also you're letting down the people in the building if you don't hold them accountable for greatness especially if it's at the top of the profession so I think that has been something that has been looming over that cold-spotting for a long time it's like we can kind of just get away with stuff here for some we're fucking reason I don't know why that is so if Dodds is able to come in there and maybe do it or for the rest of the season Shane Stike and maybe gets a little bit more say maybe Carly or say gets a little bit more say on what the moves are and we win I'm cool but it doesn't feel like that's ever going to happen with 2 and 11 in our last 13 we're fucking ask we got money all across the border to roster we got a lot of pillars people that have been here for multiple contracts and we still have 1 and AFC South I mean at some point you just got to say this didn't work and he got to go another way so is that right now I would say yes but we got two weeks to figure out if this year is the year we win a Super Bowl maybe and I'm excited for that last question speaking of a guy that needs one a Super Bowl Taishman has a question for you for the electricity beaming from Baltimore yeah rap sheet what about Lamar he missed practice earlier in the week he was limited yesterday it seems like it's still kind of up in the air whether or not he's going to play do you have any idea what his status will become Sunday yeah I mean I'm I'm I'm just doing what everyone's doing and I'm watching him run on to the field but like is he limping so I was told originally this was a two to three week injury so he's missed to this is the third week he is progressing and he's doing well and he's moving more than he has in the past so he has a chance to play I cannot definitively say he is going to play because everything with Lamar injury wise has been tough tough to figure out and tough to understand when he's going to go out there so I know he like if he's listed as a full participant today that will be a signal that he's probably ready to go if he's not then I would say it might be another week but I I just don't know for sure and I imagine not I imagine I know that the Ravens also don't know for sure they're hopeful but they don't know we hope we see Lamar ASAP we hope the Baltimore Ravens do what they did in the Colts week one and just absolutely go through a gauntlet of dominance um everybody needs to win all the time everybody needs to remain healthy I don't think it's ever going to happen but that's why the NFL is the best we appreciate you rap she for joining us all right thanks guys good stuff what's the weekend look like for you junior doing some cooking pay some chores uh I am uh so since you asked uh I'm going to a dinner party on Saturday and I'm smoking duck to be contributed to a one of the one of the dishes that we're serving oh I'm smoking duck never really smoked duck before I'm oh don't lie man oh I know you've gotten down air and smoked a little duck before yeah I don't really like I got I got some duck fat I got a couple things a duck fat on the package they say on the duck fat better than butter just like full trash talk better than butter that's duck because the ducks know what they got going on I I've eaten a few ducks in my day um I believe it's a German delicacy pretty big they have the duck it very greasy food which I think would make sense for the duck butter to be better than any other butter I think you're gonna love it and once you start smoking it your mouth's gonna say yeah this where I'm supposed to be all along you're the best duck smoker and meat smoker that we've ever talked to that's a interrupt poor yeah we have breaking news out of the NHL the goalie who won the goalie
medal for the team USA men's hockey team. Halibuk requested a trade out of Winnipeg and after months and months of a little standoff drama it has been announced by week say former player now insider journalist that he's being traded in a new Jersey's Devils. Now there's a couple things happening here. Dawson Mercer's being traded away from the Devils back to Winnipeg. He was drafted 18th overall in the 2020 draw. He's goal scorer. Ever just about 20 a year. He has scored 27 before. That's the price possession of this particular trade agent. Okay, I don't know how much you you follow the New Jersey Devils with Jackie Hughes and the boys but Dawson Mercer is a man they might miss on the ice. Nico Daw's back up goal tender. He's been bouncing back and forth between you know, baby Devils up into the big Devils and a baby Devils but getting a goalie back in the trade is obviously a big deal. Alexander command. Now this guy he was just draft. We have no idea what he's going to be. He can become the next wano. We've no idea. He's getting traded out of town. Devils say thank you so much but we got a chance to get Hall of Buck who stopped every puck. Otter shots was not enough. And then big vet Nick Buchstad 34-year-old six six center has headed to Winnipeg. This is a big deal because this doesn't often happen in hockey where a star or a player that signed a long-term deal with the team. In the middle of that deal says I'm not doing it. Give me out of here. I'm sick of it. And I think a lot of hockey was about sick of the way it was all going down. I think a lot of people are saying hey you signed the contract pal you need to play that contract. A lot of Canadians were saying hey Hall of Buck I hope you're happy with how you played in that Olympic gold medal game because we hate you forever. Did that have anything in it? We don't know. Him wanting to win a Stanley Cup obviously always going to be the reasoning for that. He gets back into America on the Devils. Let's go to Nikki Scates in the back. This feels like a big one. Doesn't it? Maybe you taught jazz we're in on the mix. Did we know that this is where Hall of Buck was going to end up at Frankie? No actually a lot of the experts were thinking Buffalo was the leading candidate in the house. So this is a bit of a surprise. New Jersey's a team that has missed essentially think of it like a NFL franchise that's trying to replace a franchise quarterback with you have a legend like Marty Brodore who was basically the face of the New Jersey Devils for years. They haven't really been able to fill that net with anyone of that same caliber for years and they finally go ahead and pull a trade like this to get Connor Hella Buck. He can potentially be the guy we know he's got the pedigree and the gold medal to back that up. So hopefully he comes in now and gives that Devils that solidifying force in the net. Yeah and Hall of Buck you know has been judged by you know by by some hockey people about how he played for the Jets versus how he played that Olympic gold medal game. But I just want to let you know I'm happy he's back in America and I hope they give him a standing innovation for that gold medal everywhere he goes. I hope he gets what all the boys got and we have actual owner of the National Predators with us. Coach, save there. Coach, did you guys think about pulling the trigger on Hall of Buck? Did you know he was available and how closely were you following the goalie situation from the U.S. men's hockey team? I really wasn't during football season. I kind of focused on football but obviously we want to try to make our team better every way we can and I think we got good leadership there, good ownership and I think we'll eventually get this thing turned around. Okay, when are you gonna put on a skate and maybe go out there with the lads and try to motivate them and inspire them. Maybe get one of those hats that you wore for football. Nikki Skates, Nikki Skates Sabin maybe out there to motivate the lads. You should know that being from West Virginia you going to West Virginia. We don't have ice skates in West Virginia. I know there's not a lot of ice skating. Predators last night had a game against the Bruins. Oh, what happened? No extra point. And miss the extra point though, coach. Maybe the defense got the pressure on it. Let's talk about football. We're out here in Utah yet again. This Utah Utes team has hosted a lot of college game days over the last few years. I think seven or something like that. It's amongst the most out of any college game day town that we've been to. They lose winning him. He ends up going to Michigan or was going to retire or whatever the case was. Higher from within with Morgan Scali. What have you seen from his leadership that maybe picks up right where they left off? Or did they even get a little bit better possibly with old coach Moe? Well, I think they're a little better. I mean, I don't think they've played a very very tough schedule to this point, you know, in the season. But offensively they create tremendous problems for defensive team. They got 17 different personnel of groups. They use, you know, do different things out of every one of those. But how could you ever get a defensive team to understand 17 different personnel groups and what they like to do out of each one of them? It's impossible. So I think that part of their team is better. I think the quarterbacks better. I don't think they've been tested defensively. So it'll be interesting because Houston has a very athletic team to see how how they hold up. Yeah, tell me a little bit about Fritz again. Now to Houston, they drive in with the swing is on the low rider, but they have the moxie on and off the field. They're off and scores as well. They're moving the rock a lot. So this is Utah's defense first big test. You're saying no question. 61% third down conversion. That's almost unheard of for Houston. And, you know, the quarterback has played really really well for them. They're athletic. They're explosive. They make a lot of explosive plays. They have balance. They run the ball. So this a good offensive team. Tell me a little bit about your thoughts on what last weekend was like a BYU. Was that not absurd? How many years now have you been on the show? This is the third and that was the most excitement and energy and passion that I've seen in college football since I've been on the show. Of course when I was coaching, you never saw that part of the game. So, and, you know, it's something that, and, you know, the leadership there, it just, you know, the coach, I mean, he's like dancing before the African game. I mean, but I see that kind of confidence. And, you know, I didn't see a lot of, you know, guys that were tied or, you know, had a lot of anxiety. The way they went out there and played and competed in the game. And I think that's a reflection of his leadership. And, and the way it goes about coaching his team and the confidence they have in themselves. Yeah, I love the experience out there. And they're all just a hundred percent stone cold sober out there. They were out there for, what, 12 hours for us. They started at least midnight before standing there. Tuesday, some of the people got in there and start camping out. Then that game ends at night time over there. They were out throughout the entirety of it. Just pond and diet coax, I guess, with caffeine. But whenever you talk about, like, everybody coming together for one thing, there's a lot of cults in college football. Roll tide. What's that coming down the track? I mean, there's a lot of cultish type feels. And I'm not saying, this is not about the religion being a cult. Even though I think if you were to describe most religions, you would say that. But everybody was all in. It was very apparent that everybody on campus was all in on that day, on that football team. And it was, we've seen special at LSU in the middle of that rainstorm. They were out there. And then you got a hundred thousand people doing the same thing. It just felt different with the mountains in the first time in 17 years. I enjoyed the hell out of my time over there. Yeah, it was fun. It really was fun. It was exciting. It was fun. The crowd was great. The atmosphere around it. And the game was great. It was a great football game to watch. I'm mean, BYU won. But it was a great day in Milwaukee. Oh, you want to know the day I'm going because you picked them BYU. Now it's the number two team in the country. I picked BYU as my super dog and one. So you've got a head because you did get the pop out of it. I've got BYU as my super dog. And then later, go with Notre Dame. They're the number two team in the country right now. AP wise. Reese A and tone had him as number one team. Miami AP number one team. How do you feel about the top of college football right now? Because it does feel like it's changed. Well, Indiana loses its first game in forever. Could have won it by a half an inch. Alabama in the situation there. Like, how do you feel about the top of college football right now? Well, the way I see it is the reason we're seeing a lot of these inconsistencies and performance is people are struggling to sustain their intensity weekend and week out. And you know, maybe it's people aren't are a little more conditionally committed to their team because of the circumstance where we put in these players in. You know, I talked to a college coach this week who's got a by week next week. And all these don't as meet with agents. It's a middle of the season. All right. So, you know, guys are worried about how much play and time am I getting what I'm going to do if I don't get enough play and time. I'm playing really well. So how much money I want to make next year there or someplace else. So if you can't sustain intensity, you can't sustain the level of performance you want to sustain. You can't play smart. You can't play with intelligence. All right. So it all starts with that mental energy. And that starts with your commitment to your team and to your development as a player. So it's always about like the big games. And then there's the, you know, the lower intensity games the teams can slip up on. Is just a constant messaging about what you need to view or how you need to view literally everything in life that you think you can keep the intensity. Because how many years were you able to keep the intensity for 20 some years? Oh, 17, maybe at Alabama, you know, I. So what's that's on the coach, though, to just drive the message home? Do you blame coaching on that? Do you blame the modern generation? Like, how, why do you think it might be a little bit more difficult to be able to do that now than? I think it's the modern generation. I think it's a circumstance that surrounds college athletics right now. College football is what we're talking about here. But I also think that if you're a coach, you got to realize and anticipate what those changes are and be able to try to focus from the very beginning, not the week of the game from the
very beginning like how am I sitting this team up psychologically so that we can sustain our performance you know I mean like I define success as consistency and performance not winning a big game not winning a game you know and we win a national championship and in my speech at the celebration I say this is not the end this is a beginning so you're you're constantly setting up yeah I knew horizons for what you want people to try to accomplish and how you want them to look at it yeah rather than be satisfied with what they've accomplished in the past yeah but when you get to the top of the mountain shouldn't you look around a little bit what are we been climbing for well I mean how many championships you win all right well I got on that note I got to ask your question because you may be winning some awards here no how did your premiere go yeah thank you for asking appreciate that it was interesting man because this theater the the screenage I get it's called the Chinese theater I guess this is where all the movies to the premieres oh yeah they're having some A.F.I. Fest American Film Institute Festival was happening in there it was interesting I movie got me crying I think the movie is good I was pumped whenever we got past my part you know like I my part is a very you see it you know when it's coming no one's happening I knew what was happening I'd not seen it so when it was over I was pretty relieved to enjoy the rest of the movie because I'd Google a couple times like what it's like to watch yourself act for the first time it's all really bad I mean these actors really judge themselves very negatively so I was reading that I'm like what's it gonna be like for me to watch myself I started looking into how other actors do it they they judge themselves terribly you know they they really go hard I guess it's really hard to watch yourself act a lot of people said that so I was a little bit nervous going in there I hadn't really thought about it and then I watch it and it just felt interesting seeing myself in that role and I think because I see myself on clips and on TV a lot I'm used to it a little bit more but I didn't want to like kill myself afterwards I don't think I was like great I don't think I was great but I don't think anybody walked out of the movie during my part so I think that's good but Peter Berg Ray Nicholson scars guard Tom Francis and then Nick outson they made a great movie and Alex and Ezra and everybody was good to catch up with everybody and watch movie for the first time but yeah I was cool to experience man it was really cool how many movies you've been in I know you're in blindside pitching your ass off in that living room have you done any other movies no that was it but I'm sure you this is going to be great I can't wait to see it I'm sure you did well but to your point it is really just for people out there to understand it really is hard to watch yourself whether it's a movie or just like in this premiere that we did yeah for the documentary I don't really feel comfortable watching myself I'm just like who is this guy exactly how do you get on here exactly well you you did it because you got to top the mountain and said nobody look around okay we're going to create another mountain that we got to go to because you're incredible attention to detail and accountability and strive for success is why you got a documentary that's ever going to happen for me but my face took up this entire screen last night just from top all the way to the bottom as I'm zoomed in there and I'm yelling on somebody and it was just it all felt very surreal I'm very thankful for everybody for how kind they were to me in this movie because these were all incredible actors and Sergeant Major Devers there it was great to see him and catch up with everybody it was it was fun thank you for asking well I'm looking forward to seeing you choose somebody's ass out all right because they got me chewing people's ass out all over the place so I'm gonna see you I got I got some good ones I got so I want to see that yeah there's a couple there was actually a couple pops during my my scene in there super intense movie is very intense it's a war movie true story about four college football players that joined the Marines during World War 2 and then they are tasked with putting this football game together in Guadalcanal Christmas Eve 1944 before everything you know it was yeah it was really cool to be a part of Peter Burke crushed it though they made a phenomenal movie I'm crying at the end and yeah just honored to be a part of it thank you so much for asking now let's get back to college football now as opposed to college football then with those incredible lads that signed up for the Marines there's a quarterback situations brewing around the country Michigan already made a decision arch in Texas AJ has a question about both of those yes so coach Tommy car stepped in last week for Michigan did you know played very well kind of game a shot in the arm Indiana comes to town this week I know coach one of him has not officially said Tommy car will be starting we we would anticipate he gets the most of the time I guess how do you handle a situation like this we know you have famously handled quarterback situations beautifully in the past but what do you think this does for Michigan as far as their you know the prognosis moving forward well you know I think competition is good I think that complacency is actually bad and when somebody thinks they're not responsible or perform well that's probably not good for you as an individual and it's probably not good for your teammates who are looking at you to play a little better and do a little more for your team so I'm not inside that situation so I don't know what gives them the best opportunity to win but you know based on last week's performance it was certainly was a shot in an in the arm for Michigan when Tommy car came in and you know hopefully look Michigan can play really good on defense oh yeah so if they can just play okay and the quarterback can just be efficient in how they manage the game run the balls stay ahead of the sticks don't turn it over play really good on defense they they still have a chance to be a good football team but they got to win that way yeah Josh Hoover there's a little rumblings around Josh Hoover's health have you heard of that tone yes there was a point in the game where he took a hit and then he made a throw and after the throw it the show to replay of him like grabbing his arm of it and wincing now he wasn't on the injury port there wasn't a single I you who's your on the injury port people were asking how sick accomplishes that but yeah that I you could see during the game there was a replay I might be able to find who are talking about it but that where he wins after he threw now we all saw the final throw a thousand times it had perfect spiral might have been a little bit to the left you got to get your feet in there whatever the case they could have beat Ohio State maybe still a minute left could Ohio State drive down there without Julian saying TBD probably not but Hoover throws that ball pretty well there if he was injured maybe he was just battling through it but that's conversation him having to take on this Michigan defense that that is not a defense that you want to just sign up to play again not not I'm not saying he scared or Indiana scared or anything like that but let's say he does have a little bit of a shoulder something going on taking on the Michigan defense right now with new quarterback you lose two games in a row I mean that all of a sudden you know things start to get really loud even if you had 22 game win streak in a row but what Indiana has always been able to do is they had balance they always could run the ball and they really struggle to run the ball a week ago against Ohio State and hopefully they'll be able to get it together running it so they can have balance on offense and not put it all on the quarterback yeah we have two teams have massive wins last week will they be able to handle it tone has a question for you yeah I do it's and you guys kind of talked about a little bit but there's been a trend this year and it's probably been a trend for longer than this where you win a big game and then you go on the route a road and lose all missed it it Florida did it Georgia beats Bama they go and then they go and they lose to Auburn even though that was at home this week Tennessee is going on the road after a huge emotional win BYU is going on the road after a huge emotional win how do you deal with that as a as a coach and is that always been a thing that you've had to deal with yeah I mean if you got a good team you're going to win big games and you got to still play the next week so you know you're constantly preaching we want to go one-on-oh this week the most important game we have on the schedule is the game we're playing this week and it's about how we play it's not about who we play unless play to the level that we're capable of and doing on a consistent basis but I I do think you have to preach that all the time and if you make one game a great big game for your team then they're probably going to look at the next game with a little less attention to detail and that could cost you in performance you know complacency is a terrible thing for performance it creates a blatant disregard for no much right paying attention to detail you create bad habits you don't prepare the right way you don't practice the right way and you go out there and you don't perform relative to what you're capable of and somebody less than you beat you yeah that's right and you control that you control that you you can blame everybody else you can blame the circumstances you can blame the external factors but what we have right now in college football is you guys have heard me talk about rat poison this is rat poison on steroids just the modern era money modern era social media everybody's a blog everybody's a potential agent telling you what's right you're saying rat poison's coming in from everywhere because you've got managers who know that you could probably get more money elsewhere saying they're not using you right here so is that take you a little bit away from the mission with the team you got people in social media that's everywhere and you used to say don't read your press clippings don't don't buy into any of it don't get too high you get too low you have to in a modern era you have to be plugged in you go around campus people because they're able to gamble in some states not not with the Mormons profits said no more or not doing that but there's prop betting on players here about that from people i mean it is the more the most um communicative to athletes error that we've ever had i think if that's what you mean but one thing that is a little bit consistent that people don't talk about is the teams that have more maturity older teams that are more mature what does maturity allow you to do make better decisions about what you're doing lock on and
and lock out, lock on to what you have in front of you, lock out all this noise outside of you, and be able to focus on the things that matter. And mature people have a better chance to do that. - Have you ever ordered off a Dordash? (laughs) - No, but I'm sure mystery has, but I don't know how to do that stuff. - Oh, it's easy. Dordash makes life easy for you, easy for all of us. And I like to pop up around you while you're doing this 'cause it looked like you were saying, look at Dordash, it is the greatest. And I think it is an assistant, not that you need an assistant. I know you get a lot of work done, but I think you could manage Dordash. I think it'll make you better somehow. I don't know how. Can I talk about what you're wearing right now? I mean, this thing is, Dennis, I don't know if you can get a little zoom in. Maybe on the pack camera there. This guy looks absolutely phenomenal. The suit is, I mean, get in there on the, look at this suit. I mean, we got the butt zoom out of the way, Dennis please. - Oh, that's a handkerchief. Yeah, handkerchief, we got the blue buttons, you got the shining bright blue with the black, black pants here, with the loafers. Hey, coach, you're killing 'em today. Absolutely killing 'em. You should be proud of yourself. Do you fly on your wearing this? - I wanted to try to elevate the boys in terms of the classes. - Thank you, thank you coach. - Yeah, I appreciate that coach. - Thank you. - How we dress and represent the organization here and all that. - Yeah, well, I appreciate that. - Not you, Pat, just the, - Yeah, 'cause I'm super dressed up. It's 100,000 degrees in here. I didn't know it was gonna be the case. But I was wearing, yeah, we're all dressed up around here. Thank you for classin' to join up, you know, legit. How would you talk to brewers or race who are on the precipice of accomplishing something that neither franchise has ever done, which is win a world series. First world series game, today, both teams have never won a world series. How would you talk to these teams? How would you talk to the squads? - Well, I think what you gotta do is that really is not gonna impact the outcome of the game. That the fact that what's happened in the history is not gonna have anything to do with what happens in this world series. So the team that can focus on what's in front of them and what they need to do to execute the best. And you don't have a lot of anxiety about the outcome, but be able to focus on one pitch at a time, one play at a time, whatever you wanna call it, one inning at a time. And try to do the best job and play together as a group. And I think both of these teams have been extremely, you know, impressive, you know, throughout the season, as well as in these playoffs. I like baseball and I watch a lot of these teams. They got good pitching. They're athletic, both teams. And they play well together as a group. - Did you see what happened in practice from junior, junior coming out? - No. - I broke an LED board. Sky's hitting BP and getting ready for the world series. - Bomb. - See ya. - And. - Hey. - Boom. - Yeah. - Wow. - It feels like he's hitting the ball pretty well. Mizorowski getting a start for the world series. He's the ace for the brewers. We talked to him the other day. Seemed like he was just trying to view this as another game. This is another series. We just got to go out and do our job. You can become immortal kid. Can't wait to watch it. That happens today. This is what we've been waiting for, Ty Schmitt. These two teams, certainly the best two teams in MLB. And we'll put on a show for all of baseball Ty. The brewers were the best team in the NL this year. At least had the best record. The raise had the best record in the AL. And, you know, because there's not a bunch of fireworks, like the brewers scored the least amount of their runs by home run this year. And the raise had the second most of their runs accounted for by the home run. So these games should be incredibly tight. Like, I have a tough time seeing this not go seven games. And, you know, to coach's point, like in terms of what they're telling these guys, that's kind of what it is. It's just, hey, you play exactly how you have all year. You play 162 games. So, like, who they are right now? Like, that is who these teams are. They're not gonna go out there and try to hit a bunch of home runs. They're gonna, you know, manufacture runs, get guys on base, steal, move them over, play good defense. And, for the brewers tonight, like, they really need Mr. Rouseki to go deeper, because he has teams have been getting his pitch count up and have been getting into the brewers bullpen much earlier. And the raise starters have actually gone quite a bit longer. So, I'm very excited for this. I expect all these games to be incredibly tight. - Okay, let's go baseball. Let's go World Series. We'll watch tonight. We're all about pitching, though, and who has command of their pitching and who can control it, because pitching will shut down a good hit and the base runners and all that. And I think that's been Mr. Rouseki's issue as he doesn't have as much command as he had early in the season. He's got the velocity, he doesn't have the command. - Whoa, whoa, whoa, I didn't know we're breaking down pitching. That's why you're the best. We appreciate the hell out of you. That's the greatest of all time. Coach, Dave, and the boys are back in the Thunderdom. We'll be joined by Coach Scally on the other side and Stanford Steve will help us make picks. I saw him at the Wizards game with BFT. Looks like he's living his damn life. Let's see if he can get some picks right. Be a friend, tell a friend. Something nice might change your life. We'll see you on the other side. Good bye. (whooshing) (whooshing) (whooshing) (whooshing) (whooshing) - Hey, it's the greatest. That's why I'm out here in Utah to celebrate Houston. Coming out here to play the Utes tomorrow's Utah as seven point favorites. And what might be a very high score in a fair? We shall maybe see the potential national champion playing here with both squads ranked in the top 15. It's an honor to be out here. It's great to be back in Utah. The weather is delightful. The football forecast is to be spectacular and college football gonna bring it yet again. Last night, the NFL kicked off its week seven in a huge way in Chicago as the Bears beat the New England Patriots. And what could be a forecast of what the future super balls look like over the next 10 to 15 year now. The Ice Man. (whooshing) Caleb Williams sat out for a couple weeks, watched Case Kingdom and Tyson Beijing play quarterback in Ben Johnson's system. They did well. They sliced in dice. He understood that he was a better quarterback than both of them. But if he could play a Ben Johnson's system like they did, plus add his magic on top of it, he might be the best version of himself that we've ever seen. Well, last night is the second week back from the hamstring injury. And last, last week he won 30 to 36 for 300 yards. This week, damn near perfection again. Ben Johnson predicted that they could have the most prolific offense in the history of the NFL this past off season. Now with Caleb all the way back in Ben Johnson cooking. Cole Comet gets hurt in a non-contact, which obviously T's and P's towards him. Luther Burton seemingly unguardable. The leveling gets into the end zone. The running game's always gonna be good and their offensive line can protect this magical weapon. Caleb Williams plays fantastic kickoff week seven of the NFL season in the Bears all the way back. New England Patriots also played great, Drake May had a fantastic game. He ends up losing and taking an L. They now move to four and three as the Bears moved to five and two. We think we'll see both of these teams in the Super Bowl will be at the same time. Multiple times going forward, possibly. Mike Freibull, great head coach, Ben Johnson. Great head coach, both quarterbacks, really good. Cultures in place in both places. These two teams are gonna be a staple of the league going forward and we got a chance to watch it and enjoy it last night. Now it's not just me here, Chit Chatting about ball. There is a man who's a college football national champion, Super Bowl champion, Ryder Cup winner. Back in the Thunder M, we appreciate it. Ladies and gentlemen, AJ Hawks. - Hey, there we have it. - Hawks. Hawko, what you see last night that made you think to yourself, the future of the NFL is in great hands or a week seven of the NFL might be the best week yet. - I think it may have kicked off possibly the best week yet moving forward, but I think the Chicago Bears team is for real, Caleb Williams is for real. I think you come out of this game feeling like both these teams are gonna be okay. The New England Patriots and the Chicago Bears. We know the NFC North has been rolling so far this season. I think we just more of that we saw last night continued success for the Chicago Bears team, especially playing at home with a healthy Caleb Williams. I think this is a team that you're gonna have to worry about if they are on your schedule. - Yeah, definitely gonna have to worry about them if they're on your schedule and they might be on your schedule to play off. - They might be on schedule. - It's super. - That's how Chicago Bears fans should be thinking. After you hire Ben Johnson, you get the Super Guru. And then you think to yourself, well, we got the once in a generational talent and we got the Super Offensive Guru. Even if our offense does well, we're gonna have the same offensive coordinator forever unless he passes off play-calling duties, which don't do it. Just Ben, we are asking you now. - Never. Don't do it. We hate it when it happens. We need him doing his little stanky leg into his chant, into his play-calling, into his drawing up plays for the good of the league, for the good of Caleb and for the good of the Chicago Bears. Let's go to the talk to table at Boston Conor and at Ty Schmitt. I know Drake May has been fantastic for the Patriots. He's led you guys to a Super Bowl. He's already been in the MVP finals conversation. What you see from him last night? Are you freaking out that you guys didn't cover last night, Con man? How do you kind of view your team after week seven kickoff on Thursday night? - No, it still feels great about him. I mean, it was a tough game. You knew going into it, it's prime time. It's Ben Johnson, you know, Caleb being healthy. Caleb's unbelievable. You know, you kind of just solidify that when you watch him, especially in a full game, you know, every single moment he stepped up. But no, feel great about Drake May, very banged up. You know, that's the thing is this could have been very ugly. You're down to your fourth and fifth guards right up the middle and they kind of held their own, but also Drake may have escaped, made a lot of plays with his feet, feel good about it. Need more from AJ Brown, that guy right there. It's kind of one of those things where you're waiting for him to have his massive hey, AJ Brown, so AJ Brown game haven't seen that yet. But yes, having that red zone interception, it was a pretty flawless game from Drake May, expect that to kind of continue going forward. Let's take this mini by week 10 days off, get a little healthier and, you know, bounce right back. But yeah, not not panicking whatsoever. Feel really good about this team still. Okay. Hembo sends a stat about that pick we just saw right there. Drake May is the only thing.
quarter back to throw multiple picks whenever he's targeting the end zone this season. He has three. Is that because he's gunslinger, got a little Josh Allen in him. Do you think he doesn't see this guy dropping right into coverage? He seemingly throws it right to him. What are your thoughts, Con, man? And why has Drake turned it over a couple of times in scoring position? Yeah. Early on, it felt like he was just trying to do too much. I think two of those were against Seattle and it was just like, dude, come on. What are we doing here? Remember the end of the game one where kind of ended the entire thing when we could have just tied the game. This honestly just feels like maybe he missed it a little bit. You know, that feels as though it should be high to the outside for rared and to get he actually basically threw a perfect pass to rared and same guy later on to score their third touchdown of the game. This one right here, kind of the exact same type of throw you were expecting on that first one. So I don't know if he he didn't see him or more. So he's just trying to do too much, you know, putting putting too much faith in his arm maybe, but not it's going to happen. I mean, he said it after the game, gosh, you know, I wish I'd hand throw that pass. You know, and that's just one of those things where, hey, you know, with time, you forget that the kids only 24 years old and that he's still only in his third year because he's already accomplished so many things. But yeah, that's just Drake made football, baby. I mean, the the touchdown running had was unbelievable. Couldn't believe he got in there. But yeah, Drake, Drake's just Drake, you got to let him kind of do what he wants to do. How about the reach? I mean, everything about, we talked about him being a hooper. It's very evident. He's a freak athlete. Very evident. Yeah. And I, we hadn't, we had talked about it before, but I hadn't really remembered it. He led North Carolina in rushing one season. I think you had over a thousand, that might be too much. I don't know if you had over a thousand, but he did lead North Carolina in rushing while being quarterbacked. That's when the conversation started with him getting helmet to helmet right there to one and so on. So fly. I shall continue to go. No flying. They're okay. He's okay. I got it last night. So did Caleb. Can you grasp us? Hitting. Let's go to one half of the hammer. God. Cowboys. AP Town. Good for us. Town. And what does this kind of tell us about the week ahead as we look to make some predictions, trades, or bets, week seven of the NFL? Yeah, it's great for us. We now have a winning record on the year as far as Thursday night NFL boosts. So, you know, that's awesome. And as far as what it tells for the weekend ahead, it's going to be the greatest weekend. But yet we are going to have only winning bets. Probably I would assume no sweats at all. Just easy cake weekend where you just win every single bet, but you do it responsibly, Pat. Because if you don't do it responsibly, you're an asshole and you ruin it for everybody else. So, I'm very excited for the upcoming weekend college and NFL. That's right. Don't be an asshole. We love for you to join us, but you need to be responsible about it all. Okay. And if you can't be, you need to bang yourself from it. That's no joke, that's no, that's no Josh in it all, AJ. We're being serious whenever we say that. We are a part of the generation here that's going to set the tone for what this is going forward. And we need to make sure we handle that well. Now, AJ, what are your thoughts on where the state of the NFL is right now? And football as a whole feels like we got a better game, better time, more likely to have a banger than a dud whenever we turn on a football game. Yeah. I think it's so unpredictable. We have no clue what's going to happen. We try to pick the games every single week, which I'm sure we will do here in a little bit later in the end of the show. But I truly don't know which teams are going to show up. I think there's so much parity here at all the time. There's so much parity each team's or there's studs on every team. Yeah, there absolutely is, but sometimes we don't know going in. Like, there's always like a new start to step up, I think, when you watch these games. So like the fact we said, last week, Tennessee plays the coach. Me and Conman felt very, very good about the coach. We are going to lead into that and Tennessee finds a way to get their first win. So I just think that's what makes it great, though. There's not like, it's very difficult to say, okay, this is going to be a blowout game. I know this team is so much better. They're really not. It's the league. Everybody can play. We got D line and running four or four. So that's what I think is the best part about the NFL right now. I agree. Every team can be great. Every team can be shite. That is football in the current era. And I think a lot of people are about to learn a lot about the two teams that are going to be playing on this field tomorrow. Houston with Fritz, brand new squad, brand new team, Conners of stud. They light up the scoreboard. And then this Utah team, they're in a new era as well, AJ, brand new head coach, but a man who's been here since 1998. I just found out, ladies and gentlemen, joining us live here at Rice Eccles Stadium. The head coach of the Utah youths coach Morgan Scally. He's rollin' it. I absolutely love that. Good to see you, brother. How are you, coach? I love that. If you want to put this on here. Okay. We got a whole bag of stuff. Thank you so much for the hospitality. I love that. You got to wear a Utah gear, brother. Okay. I will. You want me to put some on right now is what you're saying? Because I blew on. And there's a little bit of that. We can't have that. Yeah, I understand. I understand that you guys get a little bit upset about that. I didn't think about it. So I put it on here. Okay, let me, if we're gonna love this. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Yep, thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Let's go and put the hoodie on here. The merch. Just built like a Greek God. Oh my gosh. Geez. Yeah, yeah. We're kind of doing it. Thank you, coach. No. We're getting furniture disease. It's where a chest falls into our drawers. Don't get old. Don't get old. It's a bad deal. I am getting old, bro. I am getting old. You look. Man, that is nice. Yeah, thank you. It's pretty good. You got the RSMB on the back. So what? RSMB our culture. Relentless, smart, nasty, ballhawks. Yeah. Hey. That's the DC. That's a head coach there, AJ. Did you hear the mantra? Yeah. Say it one more time. Relentless. Okay. Can you tell me how your team has proven that that's exactly what they are to start the season? And also, congratulations on being the head coach of your-- I appreciate it, brother. You taught you. It's brother. Can you tell me a little bit about this team and why that mindset has maybe took over the locker room? Well, we've had this as a culture on the defense side of the ball. And I think culture really is a term that's overused in the college football. You walk into a facility and ask, you know, a bunch of different people, what's your culture? If you're getting ten different answers, then you don't have culture. So, you know, everyone should be speaking the same language. And these are skill sets and mindsets that you teach your players about what it takes to be elite. And win championships. Relentless, smart, nasty, or acronyms. Smart, situationally intelligent, mentally tough, where of what you're putting into your body. Rest in recovery, technician. Nasty, no excuses. Attack the problem. Starts with me. Team first mentality. Yes, sir, communication. And ball hawks, the balls met for us to have. Not them. Okay, so there's actually our-- All texted to you. We're good. Please do. We appreciate everything that Utah has done for college football and for college game day over the last few years. We visited here, I think, tied for the most amongst every other school in the country. So thank you for hosting us. Thank you for having us. Let's talk about your journey. I just asked you. I said, you've been here since 2006 or 2007. You said, no, 1998 is when you came here. Life long, Utah you. Now it's kind of your job to guide the ship. Can you tell me about your journey here and why Utah is the place for you? Kind of surreal. My dad was a half-back here. Back in the late '50s, early '60s, Bud Scally was a half-back for the youths. When Utah State was really the team in state, Merlin Olson was on that squad. So I just grew up a Utah fan my entire life. This stadium was not what it is today. It was recruited by Ron McBride. I went to Highland High School just to stone throw away. The plum-high mustangs, you know what I mean? Wow. You coachin' in Pittsburgh. Yeah. But it was just an opportunity. I always wanted to play for the youths. Ron McBride offered me that opportunity. Two years under Ron McBride, two years under Urban Meyer, Kyle Winningham. My greatest mentor in coaching. And then so many coaches along the way have been huge in my just preparing me for this opportunity. Well, AJ is going to ask you about Coach Urban Meyer. I think he can't wait to do that. I just want to ask you about something you did in March where you pledged your own money to NIL, I believe. Up here, am I reading the story right there? To the University of Utah Athletic Department. Yeah, but that's abnormal. You know that you're supposed to get it and keep it. That's what they say. It is crucial to be frugal if you want to make it last. And you can Google all the brutal bank of stories of the past. That's real. And coaches view that way more than anybody. So in this modern era, you deciding to give back to Utah athletics. He's a huge deal. Should be very celebrated. Can you just tell me why you did that? Did you feel obligated? How's the family feel about that? All that type of shit. Well, Utah has done a ton for me and my family. My wife went here and my entire family went to the University of Utah. There's a lot that the Utah family has given us. And this is not a Morgan Scally thing. I said that early on. It's about Utah football. It's about the University of Utah. When I'm gone, you know, it's again, it will still be Utah. And so we wanted to give back and help this community understand that we're in this together. I'm not going anywhere unless they kick me out of here. That's unbelievable. Hey, thank you for doing that. That's really cool to hear. Because as somebody who gives away a lot of money, I think it's awesome to be able to provide that. And to, you know, Robin Hood made it.
Let's go ahead and keep it rolling and keep it moving for you to do it to your team. I bet the locker room Appreciate it. I bet they love it and then whenever you come rolling in on a little cooler I couldn't even imagine the conversation starting quarterback damn damn pure put me up to that he has one He said I would never get one. I bought one. I told him I would I would write it on set Have you guys race these things yet? Have you as faster? I've got the updated version I like that smart always gonna win. I appreciate that. Maybe you should donate a bunch Maybe we'll donate a bunch of those to West Virginia might be able to get them a little bit better record AJ has a question for you about coach urban Meyer. Yeah, coach you you mentioned playing for coach urban Meyer for a few years That was back when you were you were a DB taking dudes heads off before like targeting was really a thing and old-school football I know but what was it like? I guess playing for a young urban Meyer I'm sure he was all full of piss and bitter to just come from bowling green a young guy like making his way to the top What'd you take from him and also coach wouldn't him like all the time you have had there and all the great mentors you have like What have you taken from each of them? Urban was the master motivator. He got his master's degree in psychology. I mean he He came in and was able to motivate he got but guys to play into their role to own their role and made him feel important first year went With two losses ten and two one our first outright conference championship in 50 years and then The year after one undefeated he was just so good at bringing guys together master motivator A brilliant offensive mind brilliant coach holding people accountable and and I loved my time with him And then Kyle obviously was my defensive quarter was my position coach And loved him loved playing for him and gave me my opportunity to coach urban also gave me an opportunity but You know on Kyle side brilliant defensive mind and just taught me everything about players first mentality It's about players. It's not about the coaches. We have jobs because their players not the other way around and So So grateful for him and then other coaches along clonnie at BYU was a defense coordinator I worked under and John p's and you know all these coaches that I've had you know a ton of respect for Ten respect for you AJ. I mean shoot. I like that. I grew out your hair for Pat Teelman, right? Yeah, you were the first one to receive that Pat Teelman award when you were playing right just meeting his family was awesome I mean incredible but you talk about sacrificing a guy that understood What was important in life, right? Work coaches, you know this but at the end of the day, it's a game and it's about these young men the greatest title They will ever hold help will have nothing to do football It's father and we want our guys to become great dads I love to hear that in I like that the locker room is continued to buy in you having a presence in the building before getting hired as a head coach I think it's a big deal But it doesn't always work out, you know sometimes there's a full turn over a full shift conman has a question for you about keeping the legacy alive Yeah coach obviously you are an alum at Utah And you know the importance of keeping the football alumni kind of inside the program and a part of it How have you kind of emphasized doing that keeping the guys around you know Dalton King Cade's coming back? And obviously you were on the staff when he was there But in situations like that how do you kind of keep that culture the same while you know Evolving with the new times of college football Well, I mean I think a sign of a great program and a solid culture is that your players are giving back you walk through our facility And there's guys names all over the place Alex Smith Zane Beatles Jordan Gross you name it Steve Smith these guys Love their time at University Utah our guys love their time and I've you know You want in this transfer portal era you want guys that want to stay at a place that that want to have a legacy that want to come back and We've got them and so I hired Bonog here director of alumni relations and We want players coming to practice. Well players coming to games want to take care of them With our different events. It's just it means the world to those guys to know that they're still a part of something that we haven't forgotten Yeah, I think it means a lot so at West Virginia There was a lot of change a lot of turn over right and there was a disconnect between like my generation and what the modern generation was And as I get dropped into game day I start realizing that all the good programs like all their alumni want to be there. Yeah, and the teams Should want their alumni there because that's like the greatest sign of recruiting. It's like hey We got you for life here as opposed to just a couple years and you talk about the modern era How do you find out if a guy is a guy that's just chasing a check or chasing a culture that you have is that easier hard at this stage? I In terms of getting guys from the portal not promising him anything except an opportunity to compete Yeah, we're gonna recruit you because we feel we there's a need there But you have to be very upfront honest with them about you're gonna come in and compete just like the other guys are competing You know go watch and practice I've recruited Houston, Texas for 18 years and thing I loved about recruiting Houston You could watch and practice see how they take feedback see how they take getting a ripping and how they respond or they team players So there's a lot that goes into it and you're never gonna be a hundred percent correct But there's a lot you can do to mitigate the mistakes it feels like you've been able to continue the culture that you've had Congrats, that's the hardest part once you lose you know, it's dead. Right. You want you lose it. It's gone forever. No question Might want to keep those things around that's a good culture Do you do you ski like winning him does I'm not a skier. I'm a beach bum. I love the beach. Yeah, I love son of California Hawaii You know the Polynesian guys on our team. I say I'm I'm shoot. I'm half Polynesian My lose so is my yeah, you go in there good for Utah. I assume it will continue We're back in Utah last week. It was BYU getting a showcase right and now they're number two team in the country You two Houston and you top 15 teams in a country Ty Schmidt has a question for you about where the big 12 is in this modern world right now Yeah, coach when they first went to the you know the new college football playoff It kind of Largely in the media was hey, you have the big 10 you have the SEC and then you know The the big 12 is gonna be a one-bid league even going into this year I think most people that that is just like the the common sense is hey the big 12's only gonna have one bit But Pat mentioned it BYU last week you guys Texas techs undefeated as well and then Houston does it feel like Nationally you guys are kind of starting to get more respect and people are recognizing that hey the the big 12 Isn't necessarily just a one-bid league like we have multiple teams here who might find themselves in the college football playoff at the end of the season I I definitely think so I have much respect for the coaches around this league and the job they do I'm also a you know results will speak for themselves and I can talk all I want but that's why this game is great is you get to prove it on the field so I'm all about playing those teams and you and when you do play those teams guess what you better win and then people will respect you and and Fortunately our teams are competitive and they're winning and they're you know, so again I respect the depth and the parity and not only in the big 12 and in college football in general I'm excited to play Miami next year. I think it's game game two, but they just the more we can get that good on good and And you can prove it on the field then no one cares about what you say. Oh, I'm gonna put you in a terrible spot here. Okay Thanks for coming on 2014 playoff your coach feels like every coach that we've talked to is said yeah I would like an opportunity to get into the dance because I think if we have a chance I can get our team to win some games maybe win a national championship So I think you as coach saying I'm okay with the 2014 playoff a lot of people would forgive you and say that's okay How do you feel about it because it feels like it's been radical change to college football over the last four years five years And a lot of people are still blown away by well. How many how many teams in NFL make the playoff Seven on each side 14 14 and that percentage of of the entire league is what About 32. I know you're like I was told math was not gonna be involved. So I don't be what 42% may be roughly okay Okay, how many FBS teams are there 130? How many teams make the playoff right now 12 what's that percentage That's my 10 less than 10 9 that's my that's my point. How are you going to find out until unless we we add more people It give the person higher percentage if you want to You know league only games put bowl games that at that week zero where you get good on good the both sponsors are fired up Because everyone wants to go to those games You know and people want to see good football You know the more teams that or you know some teams have injuries and they they get a streak late You see the NFL all the time. Yeah, right your wild card teams and end up going on and so at the end of the day It's proven on the field and I think you have to have more opportunities Okay, so it sounds like you are in a position of let's get more teams in a dance and see who really can earn it whenever it matters the most Which is the end of the year that Notre Dame team my sure How does a pistol coming into the playoffs don't make it in there Miami Miami. They're hot as well They don't win the ACC They get the last kind of bid and they end up making the national championship because who they were at the time I like your answer very truthful answer did not expect there to be a full Statistics conversation But I appreciate you coach Scali Tone digs has the last question for you about your opponent this weekend and also what you look like yeah coach
I do, I don't know if you've ever been told this say, is anyone ever told you you look like John Travolta first and foremost? - All the time. John Travolta, Lou Farrigno, and oh, meet the parents, is that gay? - Ben Stiller. - Ben Stiller. - Ben Stiller, there you go. - Taste the parents guy, I like that. I like you so locked in, don't even know. You are handsome fella. - I'm not handsome. - I'm fortunate, I'm married. Otherwise this would be a rough deal. - Hey AJ, I don't know if you know this. I could hide behind this guy's traps. - He's a monster, defensive coach. - He used to throw that head around. It's why he's in all American back there roaming. - That was defensive player there, what do you mean? - Well, I didn't even think about the gigantic skull that is sitting right here. You gotta have a big neck to hold up the cranium. That makes sense, AJ, I just like you, I like that. Are you Olympic lifting right now, sir? - No, well, our strength coach, Steve Saunders has put me to work every morning. So I, thanks Steve, there's your shout out. - Steve, you're doing a great job. He doesn't know what the hell he's doing in there. He's gonna tell us what type of lift he's getting after. And you look amazing. I think the team respects that. Tone has a question for you though. About tomorrow, go ahead, Tone. - Yeah, yeah, coach, I do. Obviously, with all due respect to everyone else, I would say that Connor Wakeman is probably the best quarterback that your defense has probably faced so far this season. Former five star, he's been playing incredible. Willie Fritz has got him kind of settled down and kind of living up to what he was coming out of high school. How do you prepare for a situation like that when it is probably the best passing attack that you've faced so far this season? - Yeah, you don't have to apologize for that. He is the best that we've faced so far. And very efficient, he's competitive. That's what I love about him. I love tough quarterbacks. I love quarterbacks that, you know, when they run, they don't slide. They're gonna dip their shoulder. Now, having said that, I tell my quarterback, you slide. - Say, slide. - Yeah, slide, yeah. But just, you know, we'll put it on their shoulders. Third and short, fourth and short, hey, I'll get it. So I love how competitive he is. And, but I love how competitive our guys are. You know, we have faced great quarterbacks in the past. We'll continue to face great quarterbacks. You know, our last year in the, in the pack 12, yet Caleb Williams, Pennix, Nick's. I mean, all in one season and you're sitting there. Okay, how do we do this? So he's really good at seeing coverages and post-nat movement. You're a really good job of ultimately disguising and giving different looks and Colton Swan, our defense corner's doing a great job. But we're fired up. This place is gonna be absolutely rocking. It is bonkers and I cannot wait for Saturday night. - The Moss, can I wait to hang out with him? Can I wait to see him? That's, they say that's just the mighty Utah student section. Do you know if like the M stands for like, mighty individuals gathering higher. Like, you know if that's the case or it's just Moss, mighty Utah student. - Mighty Utah student said, comes from the school song, no other gang of college men to meet us in the moss. - Oh, what a fray, the, you know. - Can I sing the songs of our money? You think I should do it, brother? - No, no. - I was going, yeah. Everyone will know it. - You're the man. - Thanks, brother. - Thank you for joining us. Good luck, coach. Congrats on getting a head coaching job. I know it's not easy. Congrats on doing it your own way. - Staying loyal to the place that you love. Can't wait to see what you do with it all. - Well, I appreciate you having me on. I respect the job that you do and it's hard work and people don't know that, but you guys grind it out and do a great job. Love your show. - It's a lot better than bricklaying, you know what I mean? - Good luck, coach. We appreciate you. Ladies and gentlemen, coach Morgan Stanley. - Hey, here goes. (clapping) - All right, appreciate it. All right, what about to make our picks, boys? Go ahead and get ready for that. - Yeah, I don't know if, I guess we're not going to get a shot of him riding away on his little piece of luggage. That's straight out of like a sky moth and you guys are all in the first game. - Oh yeah. - Sky moth was when you used to find a plane. - No. - That's where you end up ordering all those cool things. Yeah, you do come then. - No, I actually don't. - It was a sick magazine in the air. - Like East Bay. - Like in the East Bay time. - Sure. - You can order not magazines from East Bay. - You can order sick shit while you're flying. - Let's see, cut to it. Look at this guys. - Coach, how many ponies under the hood of that thing? - That thing's rolled out. - That thing is legitimately fast. - Yeah, it certainly is. - Does it hold up? - It's actually. - Yeah, sorry we missed it. Yeah, it holds luggage. That guy's got the whole playbook in there. Got the whole playbook in there. - Why are we rolling? - Why are we rolling onto the tarmac with those? - I'll tell you, boys. Nope, not gonna get into it. - It was on a little plane last night. There's a little-- - Really? - Really? - Yeah. - Bumpy. - Was Gumpy standing up in that, you're saying? Like what do you mean? - Gumpy could do a little one of these, you know? That's what all we had. That was all we had. - There was a couple storms, you know, flight. We were all tired. You know, the internet not working. I mean, it was last night's time we were in one of these. - Oh my God. - Oh my God. - Yeah. - Never want to be there. - Oh boy. - It was your old days. It was good for the, you know, the humbly a little bit. - Sure. - You look all that it was. Happy to be here, lucky to be here. Thank for to be here. Boy, I was never more thankful than when I touched that ground. We were, we certainly celebrated a lot of magic happening. Including, AJ, you've been seeing the board pretty good, whenever we've been making these door dash picks heading into the weekend, and we've been having a man join us each and every week. We don't know how he's been doing, but we do know his vod's are immaculate, no matter where he is. Whether he's had a practice for football or for hoops. - Yep. - Whether he's had a Washer's game or if he's with Scott Van Pell, ladies or gentlemen, a man who's living a life like a 1980s professional wrestler, scratching off Utah, yet again, absolute legend. Step for Steve. - Hey, Steve. - I don't know. - Steve. Steve, I don't know if you heard him yelling, but they were giving you a rousing ovation. - Oh. - You showed up here. - Yeah, maybe they're, I know what they're doing. - What are you doing? - What? - Steve. - Steve. - I'm sure that's not fake enthusiasm. - No, that's not. - Steve, that's right. - Steve. - Not for you, Steve. - Not for Friday. What are you, Scott? - Doing men. - What's the problem? This is not. - Wake up. - Feel good. This is real. Feel good. - Boys had some travel. I want to make sure they're adapting to it. - I tell you all. - The boys did live the life of Stan for Steve a little bit. One from Santa Clara, San Francisco, up there to LA. We had it blast. We had a good time. This has been a long week, but a great week. And have you ever been in a place that just lost power like a hotel that just lost power for like 24 hours? Have you ever experienced that? - No. - Me neither. - What? - 2026. Had no idea that. - A generator or something? - One elevator. And a front computer. One computer. So, if you need to get out. - I'll pass that you get out of there. - Wow. - Absolutely. Boom. Boom. You know, because everybody wanted to be in there. Boom. The elevator was packed. But on that note, lucky to be doing it. Thankful to be doing it. Very grateful you join us every single week for this. Let's get to the DoorDash picks that we do every single Friday. Let's head to Paris now. Aaron Roger said he thinks the NFL has got a good handle of his situation. We appreciate him saying that. I assume the NFL is very thankful he said that. With that being said, PSG has moved their game off of Sunday, to Monday, because of local unrest. Are they doing that because the football game also, they might feel like they're a little bit spread thin, or do they think that there's something happening? It's a different stadium. This is Stad the France PSG as a different stadium, I guess, that they be playing this game. This is a bit alarming. But if we know anything, the NFL pulled this off without any hitch, is that what we're assuming under the-- I would think so. I would think so. You got the love of the French quarter going out to France. Who's Aunt New Orleans? Yeah. OK. I like the Saints going out there forward the league going to be around. They're going to feel very comfortable. They've been out there all week. I feel like they would have a better grasp of what's happening over there as opposed to just some social media videos, but we've been seeing a lot of those. Yeah. You said I got dancing. Did you? Yeah. Did they graffiti removal, guys? That's a lot of work. OK. So we're not worried about the game going on. No. No. Because I'm in my house. Play ball. Play ball. OK. Let's get to the picks then. Door-dash picks. So let's go to Bonjour Sava. Steeler is favored by Toilet against the New Orleans Saint. Stand for Steve. Who do you like? How do you like it in this one? I like the better one. It was three and a half. But I'll still stick with the Saints. Saints plus three, so stand for Steve. Tony Diggs, what are your thoughts on how the Pittsburgh Steelers will battle against his New Orleans Saint squad? I mean, I feel pretty good. So far, the Rush Defense has been-- it can get got. So I feel good in that situation. Because if we run the ball, Jaylen Warren re-go-dattle. Then it sets up Aaron with the play action game. I feel pretty good, actually. OK, AJ, who do you like? How do you like it, Steve? Like the Saints plus three? Yes, Steve likes the Saints plus three. I like the Steelers minus three in Paris. I know that I like that Steelers defense. Jaylen Ramsey, huge week last week. I think Aaron and the offense continue to go. Here, Fu, Ali, Steelers, here, Fu, Ali, Steelers, Ali, to the Super Bowl. Here, Fu, Ali, Fu is we. Got it. I think. That's Caboli in France, right now. Yes. Can we FaceTime Cabol? Oh, my goodness. Can we get a French Cabol right now? I like just text him. He's at the top of the Aful Tower. I don't know. I don't think he's going to be able to get out. He kind of like Alex Honnold. What? Is he stuck up? I don't know if he honnold that thing on the outside, or if they just put him in a lift. Like the painters on the outside? Oh, sure. Yeah. Just kind of lift him up here. You know, Marco Bowie? Yeah. Do you know French, Marco Bowie? I don't. I don't. I hope he doesn't jump off that thing. He's doing really well. With a parachute. With a parachute, I'm saying, he's going to base jump. Yeah.
We're calling French cabalists just get a little bit more boots on the ground with our Steelers correspondent. Ladies, Jim are not able to get them. Oh, of course. He probably didn't pay them. But that might have been the unrest. Internet. I mean, uh-oh. Uh-oh. Oh, yeah. That's a great point. There's no way Caboli would know you would need to get an international phone plan. No. No way. You don't think? No. No. Not a chance. But it's filling up his water bottle in the sand right now. No. No. No. Well, shit. Not a good idea. Oh, man. It's cleaned up. Remember the mayor swam in there. That's right. God, really sick. It's clean. Yeah. Really, really sick. That was a fight a little story. We would like to tell Caboli's don't be drinking from the sand. They've got to be found in the elsewhere and, uh, have a good time over there at Caboli's. Please report back to us on how it's been. I'll take the Pittsburgh Steelers favorite by three as well. Codes, Vikings, you already know. All these boys are trying to play to get through another team. That's the one that's potentially happening. I'm expecting the best out of the courts. Give me the minute, uh, minutes sort of Viking losing by, uh, at least one. I like the coach straight up. I like a lot. Yeah. Straight up. Love them. On the field. Give me the coach straight up. Now Adam Schaffer just reported that Shane Steinke and his rule out, sauce carbon. And Warren. Wow. It doesn't matter. It's the bin baler game. Baby. Yeah. Boys got to step up. All right. I'll take the six and a half, I guess. I'll wait you. Okay. I'll take coach plus six and a half. Why are you with me? Bounce back. From what? Uh, lack of motivation being on the feed department of soda. Indie has plenty of motivation. Okay. AJ, you with us. Bow. Cause you, you hexed us last week. I, I, I was with you until about three seconds ago. I'm taking the Vikings here minus six and a half at home. I don't, I don't like the Tyler Warren is out. Awesome Tyler. That doesn't make me feel great about the coach chances. Well, how many games has sauce played for the coach since we traded two first rounders for this guy? Look, I like him. I'm thankful he's on our team. He's a good player. Time to replace. Kind of need him. He's like two in ten. Two in ten. We're two and 11 last thirteen. Thank you. Yeah. He's been on the team ever since. What would you do with the coach right now? Stanford Steve. Gun to your head. Win this game. In the months. In the months. Win this game. And then what? Win an extra. And then watch the tape and get better. And then winning. That's all you could do coach. Yeah, but we can do a lot of things actually. We can move on from all the guys. Try to stack pile picks for the future. No, they put the time in. Into what? Into losing. No, we're going to win. Win what? Not trade anymore. You're going to win. So we're going to win the Super Bowl locker room. I don't though. Like that's the thing. I don't think anybody does neither does. Dan Jones was unbelievable in Minnesota. Don't listen to these guys, Pat. They're screwed. No, they're not. You said that. I hate that. And you know, I'm on your side. How's your going to win the Super Bowl? We can still win 13 games this season. Go see them. Technically you could. Rally to troops. Hell yeah. Show it to them tonight before. I don't think the coach's locker room would like a war movie. I don't think so. I don't think that's something that would happen. Talent point. But on that note, if you are into great. Inspirational. Heavy intense movies. I think mosquito boasts for you. I watched on the site two hours four minutes. It felt like it was perfect length. Yeah. Didn't even have to get up and piss one time. What have been difficult is where we were. I'd get up all the way down in the stairs around. Everybody knows I'm getting up to with where I was sitting. It was a. It was an interesting experience. Log in some hours in those movie theaters. Do yes. Peter Berger, what's wrong? Was that a. Was that a theater too? No, that was the Chinese theater. Okay. Alabama. Yeah, theater. South. I think it was. I think it was. I don't know. I think it was. I don't know. I think they do. Okay. Creators. From my understanding. And I think that one has a. Yeah. Okay. I'm not from the South. I don't know. Is there anybody? Save. Where is saving. I think he left. Film room. Right in stairs. He might be. Is he going to get it right this week? He's picked against. He's got a wrong a lot on the big games. Do you know that? He picked Alabama. Obviously had to get Bama. Last week, love Notre Dame. But he said he'd like to be why you with the super. Yeah. That's super dog. So it kind of hedges. But he feels like savings kind of figuring it out. Yeah. As we get going in this entire. Play into the crowd. How do you feel about this game before we get to the next one? I think it sets up for an awesome game. When you look at both personnel, Houston's got different makers on offense. But Utah against ranked teams in a night game here. They've won five in the last seven. The two losses are by our combined four points. And the last two wins have been by more than 30. So Houston's got to deal with the must here. It's a brutal place to play at night. Those numbers. They Houston and you're going to have to figure that out. Let's get to back to the door dash weekend slate. Bangles Ravens. Ravens favored by point and half Lamar Jackson was back on the field today running. I don't think anything has been made official. Ravens coach Jesse Mentor on whether the March Jackson will play Sunday against Bengals. We're still working on that reports. Jameson Hensley. Mentor said that Jackson got a pretty good amount of work in a Friday's practice. He said it'll be a decision on how Jackson feels and how effective he will be. Snoop Huntly has been in quarterback it back up not only this year, but through years past. He has gotten a win and an L last week to the Steelers. I like the Baltimore Ravens favored by point and half at home. I think Lamar ends up playing even though that has not been said. Steve, you know the area well. Who do you like? How do you like it? Yeah, when both quarterbacks have played in this game, it's absolute bangers and matchups. Great games, high score and I'm going to lean Ravens expecting Lamar to be back on their center. Okay, but if Raven, if Lamar's not playing, would we like to take the Bengals? Yes. Okay, we would like to do that as well. AJ, we will open that I rule up for you in this particular pick as well. Okay, yeah, I'm going to take the Bengals. I think Lamar most likely will play, but I still like the Bengals chances here. Okay, so you're on Bengals no matter what. We're on Bengals if Lamar's not playing. Is that agreed to by everybody? Yeah, I agree. And stipulation game. The line situation with that, like early in the week, it was Ravens minus three and a half. And then Lamar didn't practice. So it was Bengals minus one and a half and then Lamar was limited. So it was Ravens minus one and a half. So that's kind of where we're sitting at right now. So we're doing the same thing Sports Booker. Yes, that's all we're doing. We're just banking on whether or not he plays vastly different team. We'll keep an eye on that. Giants, Texans, Texans favored by ten and a half against JJ McCarthy in the New York Giants. Dumpy, why is this ten and a half? You think that feels very big? Yeah, JJ McCarthy for a full game. I think would be the concern there. He's not a believer. No. Nine. You are. Which one are you good? We know. It's not nine anymore. The Texans are turning into one of the best teams of football again. They're rolling right now. Yeah, CJ Stratt has been playing defense gets a win in the defense. You know, it was supposed to be the bell cow for Houston, especially with Demiko Rines as the head coach. AJ, who do you like? How do you like in this one? You may be surprised on this one. Jimmy, the New York football Giants and JJ McCarthy here at least find a way to lose by ten or less. Ten and a half is a lot of points, feels like. Houston is a home field advantage whenever that place is rolling. CJ Stratt has been balling. JJ McCarthy, we haven't seen a lot of great football, but we saw 11 great minutes, including an interception for the New York Giants and relief for James Winston. Last week, Stanford Steve, who do you like, how do you like it? I really like the Texans to jump them in the first half. Texans first half is a nice play there. Six. I like giving you Texas. Okay, so you like them in the first half, and you like them in the. Okay, I'll take the Texans as well, minus ten and a half. Let's go Bucks, Panthers, Panthers, good football team. Baker may feel back with a super duper glove that the Tampa Bay Rays made for him. Even though they're in the World Series, they say we'll look out for a quarterback. High technology out of the baseball world. Gonna help Baker mayfield or not, Stanford Steve. Well, Rides wear gloves on their left hand, but this is for his right hand. Yeah. So I don't like that. Give me a pamphlet. It's pretty good. It's throwing thought. It's pretty good, Steve. It's so facto there, like what you did there. Is it worth it? Go ahead, AJ. I like Bay getting back in the lineup, so give me a Tampa Bay right here. I think he finds a way to bring some energy, and I think the Tampa Bay gets a win. Ty, tell me about the Panthers. What are they? That's a damn good football team. I'll take the Panthers, favored by three. Bronze, favored by a point and a half down in Tennessee. Tennessee fresh off their first up. Over under 37 and a half. Look out. This one's going to be a nail-biter. AJ, you like Cleveland or Tennessee to go back to back? I like Cleveland on this one. Steve, oh. Hi, guy. Uh, Tennessee. What? Why? Why, how? What do you see that we don't-- They found something last week. You guys can take-- Then they lost Tennessee. They play the Colts. Yeah. Brownies are good as a dog, not as favorite. Munkin. I'm taking Cam Ward against Cleveland Brown's defense. Brown's defense is different on the road. Mm-hmm. Now we're munkin. Munkin's voice is a bloody-- I'm taking a bronze. What, what did you say about the bronze? Is, uh, favorite first dog? Brownies are good as a dog, not as a favorite. What, so munkin just becomes like a, uh, a pumpkin? Munkin shows up in his car hearts when he's a dog. He shows up in the suit when he's favorite. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. This is the one right here. You like the dolphins in this game? Oh, right. This is the one. You never said that. One and oh. Pat, did you see the stats?
The time of teams leading this season with Easter squads. Just one of the squads in Gumpy wasn't too happy about it. Do you know the Dolphins have not led yet this season? No. So they led last week, they led last week. No, well, the whole whole video zero, okay, yeah. So you guys suck. Well, I mean the jets are still the jets, you know, I don't know. Aaron Glenn's fresh out of this one. Remember I like this one. What's he like the worst coach of all time before and after half or something? Is that real? That's where I saw that pretty much. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know what this is about. Who do you like? How do you like it? Dolphins off a by-way. Win on the field. Most time with the lead this season 49ers for ours. Least time with the lead Dolphins zero. Jeez, Louise. These guys haven't had a good time yet. You like the Dolphins? I do. Off a by AJ. Who do you like? How do you like the team that's never led for a second this season as we enter week seven or New York football jets, which everybody thinks a little bit better than what we expected. You could say that the Miami Dolphins are due to not only hold a lead but to win a game, but I'm going to take the jets minus four and a half at home here. I'll take the jets minus four and a half as well. Miners, Falcons, Falcons debuted a new logo. Everybody was saying, hey, that that that looks like something else. I guess those colors are always going to be difficult and you don't have any really stringent type lines, but none the less. Niners fresh off a huge dub on Monday night. Football favored by two and a half in hot lanestive. Who do you like? Yeah. Niners as crawling it could be as an undefeated team into the by-week. Next week pretty banged up watching them on the field the last quarter Monday night. Falcons big spot. I'm taking the Falcons plus two and a half. AJ, who do you like? I'm going to take the Niners here. Is Mike Evans playing? What's up? No, Mike. What's up? What's the update on here? There hasn't really been a update as far as what it is or how long, but he will be back at some point, but the extent is not known yet. I'll take the Falcons plus two and a half as well. Broncos, Cardinals, I'll take the Broncos favored by four and a half against the Arizona Cardinals. Got a huge win last week against Ram Steve. Who do you like? If not not when Broncos. AJ Broncos. Rams Raiders Rams favored by three and a half Raiders have been close. Been close. Been close. Been close. Rams just lost to the Cardinals. They got a lot of injuries. Give me the Raiders plus three and a half at home. Stand for Steve. Who do you like? Same. AJ Rams Packers Lions. Lions favored by three at home. Who do you like? AJ. I like the Packers can't believe their dogs on the road here. And who do you like Steve? Lions. Give me the Lions as well, just because it doesn't make much sense that you would think the Packers would be the winner there. And then Chief Seahawks on Sunday night. AJ, who do you got? Seahawks. Steve Oh. Chiefs are still the chiefs if you ask me. I'll take the Chiefs as well. And that was our door dash pick 'em as we head into another fantastic weekend of ball. That's Stanford Steve. We will be live from Utah tomorrow 9 a.m. for College Game Day. Be a friend to him sometimes. My change of life. Here's to the bus and boys. All right. Nice. Do you like I hit it? Oh yeah. Well done. We're still alive. We're still alive. Okay. So what lines do we think stunk in there? We thought that 9ers. The 9ers at Atlanta. Yeah. Okay. Mike Evans. Mike Evans was a huge piece of that offense. I mean, A.K. He became a very pivotal part of that offense. And then after Mike Evans's injury, did Shanahan decide to just coast through that game with the commanders? Or were they really in trouble because they didn't have Mike on the offensive side? I think it's Mike. I personally think it's Mike. I don't, you said it got a buy week next week. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, this feels like a Falcons game if they could potentially give it up. I think D.B.O. comes back after to buy two losses. Let's go. Christian Kirk back this week, though. I think that could be huge. Oh, he hasn't played yet this season. I think that I think he's getting in the pain on Sunday. Oh. Early lead. So I go with the 9ers favored by two and a half on a home dogs. What are home dogs this year, ton? Really good, aren't they? They were. And then the last the last two weeks, weeks six, they were three and five week five. They were one and five. So four and 10 in the last two weeks. Okay. So home dogs not necessarily. There was that story. There was that week that they went six and two. And then they went three and three the week after that. So yeah, early, yes, they were good. But the last two weeks have been getting taken out behind the shed and old yellow. Okay. So let's go to that's a different type of dog. Hunger dog or dead dog is certainly two different dogs. Let's talk about the dog pound favored by one and a half in Tennessee. You said that stinks. Cleveland should be favored by more. So I believe I mean, look what they've done. And one and a half times gave you no. What is what do you know? What do we know? I mean, that's just how it how it goes. Like yes, the Browns, the record four and two is great. But they've been in dog fights. No pun intended. Literally every single game. They've won every single one of those games in the fourth quarter. But that's a that's an NFC aFC North guy talking about another team. It's Cleveland. Yeah, not just an aFC North. Steve, you taking the Titans here would be the most Steve bedding thing to do. I have taken the Titans and the dolphins every single week. Exactly. You're back door back door being open. And they've been not as bad as you would think. The record's bad. ATS. You're saying you're saying they've been snooping into back door. Yeah, both of them are. I mean, I like that precise backdoor drive. Backdoor people are a big time story. Aren't they AJ? They are. Especially for Stanford. Well, and also religions. I think there's some different religions that love the back door throughout the dark. Yeah, that's right. But this would definitely count. Backdoor covers definitely count. Definitely count. All right, Steve. Oh, we appreciate you. Thank you for joining us. I think I'm going to get out of here too. Yeah, take a nap. Get a rest. Get some rest. I'm on a nap. No, we got to do Ram truck though. We got you. Do you want to do Ram truck with us? Yes. We got a hoops. We got hoops. We got hoops. We got hoops. You guys doing it. You guys doing college football live this week? Live live, I believe. Whoa. You got hoops. We got two. Can you just get a little snack? Well, you drop out. Are you with that toothpick? Well, I'm college football live. See Steve. That's the bad guy. Not the other. See Steve. All right, before we get the Ram truck to wrap this week up, last night was cool, AJ. Well, that's cool. Yeah. So how long was like, how long was your whole red carpet situation? I'm sure it was cool to actually see everybody. Okay, so it's great to see the first time I've seen all these guys, most of them since Australia. I mean, when you're in Australia, anytime you travel that far away, you're kind of your own community, you know, just in a different place. So the amount of time I've spent I spent with these guys in the two week period was immense. Like we were around each other all day every day, watching them learning from them, the amount of hospitality that they showcase to me, through it all teaching me. That's Tom Francis right there. He and I had a good time a couple of different evenings together. I mean, just learning about him and his story. He's one of the most talented people on Broadway and England. What's that called over there? Ty. Oh God. I know it usually, but it's escaping me right now. It has a great name. It's a super. He's a monster over there. I mean, he could sing his ass off. He's an incredible talent. And then Bill Scarsgard, obviously, his family is royalty in the movies, but he's been trained into accents. He's what? Like six, seven years old or whatever. It's like, he's a beast. Nick Goutson came straight from the He-Man movie where he was the star of it, two mosquito balls. So he was incredibly jacked whenever he was there. And then Ray Nicholson, one of the kindest human beings, obviously his dad, Jack, but he played football in high school. He loves the United States of America. So the way he was viewing like this role was as if, you know, this was the biggest thing he's ever done or will ever do. And they kind of all viewed it that way because of how true, you know, somber and how real this story is. And then Peter Berg and the guy with the long hair there next to him, Alex. And then this right here is Buzz Bizzinger. Buzz Bizzinger just had Hocus on a little bit of a surprise. Did not expect his Hocus at a Buzz Bizzinger. That's Buzz Bizzinger. Right here. Yeah, it's Buzz Bizzinger right here. And then this is as he also wrote Friday night lights. This man right here. Buzz Bizzinger wrote Friday night lights. We're on mosquito ball. He has a fantastic brain. I'm telling he was wearing a Hocus shoes last night. That was a massive, massive surprise. I mean, what color were that? Black. He wears a lot of black. But he has some Gene Simmons rock star boots that I've seen him wear just casually to dinner on a Tuesday in Australia that I was, you know, gassing up everybody like, wait till you see Buzz on this red carpet. Wait till you see Buzz on this red carpet. Came in wearing Hocus still looked incredibly clean. And I asked him, I'm like, man, I thought we were going to get some some real boys because my knees hurt. I'm like, hey, you got to do what you got to do. He's a phenomenal brain. Right here is Ezra. This is Ezra manual. Arie's boy. He's one of the EPs of the movie. He lived in Australia alongside Peter Burke for seven months, putting this entire movie together. Yeah. So it was just, it was outrageous to see everybody. It was really cool to be a part of watching yourself play a character, especially that serious of a character. Like a DI in the Marines is the symbol of discipline in life. Like everything about them, the way they operate, the way they talk is just like, hey, we need you to be a better person and a better Marine now. I don't have time for it. And there is zero bullshit. There is just 100% of a goal of making you the best warrior you could possibly become. And a lot of the Marines obviously, they view what a Marine is by what their DI was to them. So getting an opportunity to play the Arlie who played in Full Metal Jacket, he was a drill instructor. A lot of people that do it in these movies like Pat Gartland, who is in a few of these photos. First Sergeant Gartland, who friend of mine since high school, he was an actual DI. He was in the movie.
as a DI which was awesome. So we have some legitimacy there but normally a drill instructor here's Pat right here. Good plumb boy, 20 plus years in the Marines, eight years as a DI, three and a half years as DI in Paris Island. Those are more than dog years because you're sleeping like two two hours a night. You're journaling every single minute of the recruits life. You have to be the picture of what the Marines are all the time we are in there. So playing a drill instructor with no actual drill instructor experience was I knew immediately upon being offered that how crazy that is and how like hey good fucking luck buddy you know because these are these are the baddest of bad and then you go with the greatest generation which is World War II era. It's like this dude that I was playing is a fucking one of the baddest dudes to ever walk this earth and I'm very grateful to Chief Warren Officer Yarbro down at Paris Island who set up an entire kind of experience for me to see the DI's experience life with the DI's live with the DI's down there for a bit so I can kind of understand even though modern era drill instructors versus World War II drill instructors vastly different things but still the same mantra so yeah just getting a chance to do it was a huge honor and then last night getting a chance to see all the boys and then watch the movie for the first time was a bit of an emotional journey for me and I think a lot of people will experience that and I think the movie so fucking good I think it's a really I'm very proud that I can say I'm a part of the movie and yeah I didn't know how it's gonna feel watching myself and I didn't want to kill myself so that's good for my understanding that's a good thing. It looks watching themselves act so the movie's good though man it's a Peter Burke did all the Peter Berks I mean you know Peter Berk when it comes to like war movies and football and you combined those I mean yeah this crush is kind of his thing isn't it? Yeah in the sound I got to meet the head sound people it's like way too you hear the sounds like of war and there's a couple scenes that are the sound is one of the most important parts of the entire scene and it's like it's just it's really well done man it is a really really well done movie and I can't believe a minute I still can't believe a minute and I hope everybody gets a chance to watch it and remember that there's some badass Americans now and there have been throughout history that are trying to make the world a better place or at least they're being told what they're doing is a better place and they sign up to do stuff that the amount of courage it takes is something I've never been able to experience but I think it's on great display throughout this movie on what it takes to serve the United States of America to be a member of the Marines and to know that it's much bigger than you even if life can seemingly be held at the moment and this football game the mosquito ball that took place on Christmas Eve 1944 in Guadalcanal the basis of the entire book watching the movie right next to a first Sergeant Garland who I forget how many tours he has five or six he's been in it you know 22 years as a Marine Marines fight I mean that's what Marines do they get sent over that's your entire purpose he said that the thing that got him most was the football game because he remembers being over there in the middle of the hell in the middle of the war and then sports have a chance to like really bring some of your only fond memories on tour or in war or whenever there's like a distraction of some sort and sports and normally that in the mosquito ball the way the war is shot the war scenes are crazy nice reminder of what war actually is and what happens whenever we talk about it and then the football scene in the brotherhood in the emotion it's like I think Peter really fucking did it I think he I was crying at the end I was crying at the end crying you're most people you know as I learn about him and yeah it was crazy to do an whole red carpet thing I don't do a lot of those age I don't do a lot of red carpets you're gonna do it though this is the one to do yeah worth it for this yeah yeah football and America yeah was it a cool like a Hollywood after party situation there wasn't after party we wonder they they souped up this I think I guess it was called sunset towers is the place it was called it was right near comedy store right down the road okay we walk in there mosquito ball stuff they have my photo a big photo of all the actors in character along the wall they deck it was yeah I mean there's after party there's premier's right carpet it was in the Chinese theater there's a Q&A afterwards with the four lads that were in it with Peter Berg in the head of sound and then Peter Berg after about 10 minutes 20 minutes of Q&A calls everybody that was in the movie down so I get called down there I'm standing down in the front of this room as they're talking about it all it was it was a cool experience lucky to do it thankful to do it and Peter Berg's the man I will always appreciate the opportunity to be a part of his movie legit legit legit now there's a couple shots I don't remember being the what as close to these guys faces as I was you know there's a shot there's a shot from over I think scars guards shoulder with my face right in his fucking face just so disgusted by everything and I was like man I was really in there you know I was I was really in there so I think what happened was I kind of want to do a little bit of just like I did when I was punting like because I didn't remember a lot of the stuff that was out there I think I kind of blacked out out there which I guess would be considered in the zone yeah got lost in the character that's a good sign yeah I thought so I'm telling you as I watch that didn't hate me as much and I was very happy that nobody got up out of disgust and left during my program so I hope everybody gets chance to watch it I hope you have an option like all of a sudden your scene comes up and you see 35 people get up and leave like that's probably not a doubt that happens I was just trying to think like worst case scenario what worst case scenario here where they start booing like when you go into a mon walk yeah what if I ruin the movie like that was the the the thing is like what if I ruin the movie then I'm like well Peter Berg's not gonna let me ruin the movie like yeah Peter Berg is only gonna put me in if if I'm worth a fuck he's not like give me a hand out here putting me in a movie that Netflix everybody is invested so much into I mean this is a Netflix movie that's gonna be in theaters for multiple weeks that's very rare you know like that is very rare and I think it's because they want people to see it on the big screen I think they want them to feel it because it is for shoot war movie I mean we're in their tone I know you love war movies tie I know you love the way Peter Berg works I think this is a I think it's gonna scratch I think it's gonna scratch a lot of itches after getting a chance to see it for the first time attachment yeah I don't doubt it I mean I was you know obviously I'm close to it because you were in it and you know you've talked about the process and everything but yeah I I've pretty much liked everything Peter Berg's done going back you know like 20 plus years now and then when I saw the the first trailer it was kind of it just cemented everything it's like you know I'm I'm a big history guy too so anything World War II I wish they would make more of these because it seems like there are so many stories that are kind of untapped and there are so many crazy situations that have kind of been lost to history that people don't know about but I'm I'm incredibly excited to watch this and it's it's sweet you know here in your experience with it and how you thought you performed in the movie and that you know you were like hey I I didn't actually suck in this so no I mean like you like you said like you said you're not getting any handouts if you would have sucked you would have been probably pretty I don't want to say down in the dumps but I think a lot of your stuff would have got left on the cutting room floor and if it didn't last night that definitely means you don't suck so and it's also really cool that this is gonna be in theaters for a couple weeks because like you said that's that's not common for Netflix movies so them understanding like hey war movie the way this is shot like you do need to see this on the biggest screen possible or at least have the opportunity to do so so I'm jacked for it I'm glad it went well and I can't wait to watch it well thank you to all of you guys for being so supportive for me through the entire process it's a whole new world you know the acting world and yeah I don't know how much of it I'm gonna be doing because it takes up a lot of time and I love what I get to do for a living with you guys in sports but at honor of a lifetime to be in that and I can't wait for people to see it and I assume there's gonna be a lot of people that say I'm the worst part of the movie because that kind of is a part of it as long as you watch it I'll be happy and I think as long as you remember it is true story like this shit actually happened in our history and it's a nice little reminder now speaking of a reminder every week we like to give a reminder of what football is don't we AJ what's football it's physical tough gritty violent yeah Morgan Stally still looks like he could hit somebody he looks strapped he is jacked dude that's a hoodie I was going through a thick hoodie too his trap for just sitting up for those things look like a couple slabs of meatloaf up on top of his shoulders guy was it all there yeah he was awesome yeah he loved ball he likes physicality remember right here a lot of words yeah a lot of words but it looks cool it's a really cool design on the back yeah it's a cool hoodie too it made me feel good and me wearing blue in here I didn't even think about that as I got dressed this morning it's not you know bloods and trips what is BYU you that's right so I think that was a good change for me to make with coach especially as they were incredibly hospitable but football is a tough sport always has been always will be it's time to showcase some of the biggest hits we've seen last week with bram that's me actually driving there that's real for you know when you hit the gas pedal of a ram truck there's There's only one signature here, AJ, and that's. That's because that engine's ready to hum for you and get the job done for you. It's ready to pull, it's ready to move, it's ready to groove. That's a ram truck. And whenever somebody gets absolutely dismantled, we say they got ram truck. Let's go to the first quarter of Monday Night Football. How about Mustafa saying hello? Sorry. Mufasa. No, Mustafa. I'm saying hello to Stefan Diggs. Bum! Bum! Bum! Bence the Fond Diggs fingerbacks. The Fond was still having an incredible game. Mustafa set the tone early here, AJ, with a ram truck right there. It's all Mustafa does. Watch the Niners game. I can't wait. Especially this week. He is everywhere. He can see him breaking on the ball before he leaves the quarterbacks arms. So yeah, this guy will continue to do this all year long. How funny you say that he continues to do that? Let's get to another Mustafa here. Hey, running back. How's life? Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. I'm going backwards now. I'm going, I'm going forward now. I'm going backwards. Why? Moost off. Oh no. This guy brings the absolute lump. Comes from 13 yards deep on that one, too, Pat. Like he just comes like a lightning bolt out of nowhere. Yeah, no fear. We'll shoot every single time. He, he, now there's a couple of helmets. The helmets that people are going to be upset about. That's on a running back, absolutely laying the wood. We loved to weigh Moost off a place football con man. Yeah, love it. And Bruce said this night. He can also co-sign it. He said you could hear it on the field. We could damn you hear that one up in the booth on Monday night. He was flying all over the place. Let's go to the beginning of this play. And let's turn up the sound a little bit, maybe? No volume on it. Just now. No volume. You know what the sound is? The sound is exactly what it sounds like right here. Yeah. Boom. Boom. We like Moost off. It'd be a ram truck. Hall of Famer. Let's stick with that game with another San Francisco 49er defender. Fred Warner flying around still doing it. This is awesome. Oh, Fred Warner says, yeah, how about you take a seat, loser helmet? And I'm going to pop right back up, talk shit and do it again. Now, Fred had a couple of helmet to helmets. This certainly wasn't. That is was a chest to helmet. Just demolishing another ground man. San Francisco 49ers defense thumps people, AJ. And they've been doing it since training camp. We were told by John Lynch. Yeah, they have you better have your head on a swivel if you are playing offense against this 9ers D and Fred Warner. I feel like three, four, five, six times a game. We're seeing shots like this. Yeah, they really bring it. I mean, why doesn't everybody just hit everybody as hard as they possibly can on defense aside, AJ? Why isn't this everybody's strategy? That is a great question. But it is kind of like a contagious situation. You got guys like Fred and Mustafa, like when you see it happening, you're just like, okay, this is the standard. This is what we're doing. I'm trying to end this person's life and take the football every single play. And if you're a defense coordinator, you love you got a bunch of dogs and we're on out there. Raheem Morris has got the boys buzzing and Kyle Shanahan from our understanding. Expectation is that is exactly who we are. Talk to Trent Williams on Monday night. Count on he stopped by and he said tough is just like. Yeah, we're tough like that here. That's who we are. They got to win a Super Bowl still. That's all anybody's going to ask if they able to get it done. Defensive side must watch television with the hits that they have. Somehow with the helmets. I liked that the ref just picked it up there. Awesome. Me too. Let's pick up say football. It was cool. Yeah, we'll put that away. Let's go ahead and do it. Did not expect that on Monday night football either. Like a one o'clock game regional. You know, we'll pick that up. Primetime game. Say, yeah, what you fuck along to do. It's like, well, if you ever asked that question before. No, but we're doing it now. Suspended last week, what are they going to do to spend me again? I don't think so. Let's put it down for the good of ball. Let's move forward. I actually like it. Commander fans didn't love it. And something I didn't love. And I didn't like how this snuck on. I'm seeing this to snuck on to the Ram truck thing. This wasn't a truck. This wasn't a truck. This was somebody taking care of somebody. Oh, gee. And if you saw this. Hey, did you see this? Oh, yeah. Unfortunately. Oh, yeah. I mean, just no urgency at all, either. Hold on, though. It's not his screen rattled on that. Yeah, look, watch the whole stadium round. I'm a fuck, I'm a fuck, I'm a fuck, I'm a fuck, I'm a fuck. That was going a hundred miles an hour. I'll come, I don't know the particular driver there. But the lack of urgency to get buddy who was hurt in the leg off the wall. He's for real? You're right. That's what I'm saying. Is it a bit surprising? Like, is he yelling right there? Yeah. Richard, I put a hit out on him. I don't know. Let me go ahead. We got you by shut up. Yeah, you're fine. I don't like that this made its way. I don't think this is a Ram truck. I think there's a ram fucked. You know what? I don't want to stay straight here. Doesn't seem too concerned about him either. He's looking up at the jumbo truck. Look at us. We just ran into the jumbo truck. All right. Let's get out of here. Thank you to Ram trucks for providing incredible trucks and allowing us to celebrate massive hits. Foxy, I don't like that that one made it on there. I thought we had a discussion that that was not happening. I see a week on the road has led Foxy to get to a point we're saying fuck it. That was a bad driver on there. Thank you, Foxy, for doing that. Yeah, you got it. You know, I had that play on the card all week long, hoping that it would get pulled up at some point. I thought what better way than a Ram truck did with a golf car. Yeah, because they didn't truck that wall like a Ram truck would, but they certainly let old buddy feel it with his foot and his ankle and whatever he was injured. And their sense, their sense of urgency is something that's going to be talked about for a long, long time. That was the pack, this is the pack camera here. There it is. Okay. This is the dumpy camera here. There we go. There we go. Hello. This is the guest camera here. And this is the watch right here. And this is set up by an incredible group of people that travel every single place the college game day goes. And Monday night football goes. I'd like to say thank you to them. Thank you for having us today. Good morning. Great work, team. We appreciate the hell out of you guys. We're here in Utah for tomorrow's college game day, 9 a.m. Eastern time, 7 a.m. local here in mountain time. As Utah youths host the Houston Cougars in another spectacular Saturday of college football kicks off. Lucky and thankful to be a part of it. AJ, thank you for traveling out to the Thunderdome brother. Great work this week. Thank you. And just thinking this Utah, I think the most is going to want to, you know, supersede what BYU did last week when it comes to fandom. I would believe. I think there is a little bit of a competition between Utah and BYU and everything. I expect college game day to be electric like it is every time it's here. But maybe a little extra sauce after what we experienced last week just down the road at Provo. Talk to table. Good work this week. Boy, I appreciate it brother. You too. One half of the hammer. God. Cowboys, AP tone. Good work this week, pal. Thank you brother. You did. Really good work. I appreciate the hell out of you. Boys behind the glass. Other than Foxy chooses to put that West Virginia golf card on there. Yeah. Great work this whole week, boys. Really good job. I appreciate the hell out of you guys. Good work boys. That work, please. Ty, who's winning the World Series just before we go? I hate to do. I want the brewers to win. I think the rays are going to. Okay. I got to be good work this week, pal. You've been incredible. Good work, everybody. I just want to let you know you've been a hell of a road dog alongside these journeys. And I know you probably get a little bit tired, especially whenever a hotel loses power 24 hours. And kind of does everything. But thank you, comfy, you're the man. Thank you, brother. Pleasure to do it, man. Lucky to do it. Good luck to your dolphins. Thank you. Gumpy's been. Gumpy's been a great asset here out in L.A. Feels like he's a West Coast boy, you know? We're out here. Born right. Yeah, he's acting a little different. It's good to see. We want to got our haircut. It's super cuts yesterday. Nice. MVP tree. I think that's sports clips. But super cuts are great. That's my man Arnold right there. Arnold. Arnold was a professional. Arnold was an absolute professional. He asked me if I had any plans for the night. I wasn't going to tell him I had a movie premiere that I was going to. He didn't want to put any pressure. I just told him me and the wife got to get some dinner tonight. So you know, it's an big deal. Arnold was casual. Did a great job. Shout the super cuts over there. Marine Del Rey area. I appreciate their hospitality. And Nordstrom rack up me all hooked up out there. I'll tell you, I need to start learning more languages. I need to start learning more languages. And I'm going to start resettistone today. In America, you need to start learning more languages. Yeah. We're melting pot. We're melting pot. You're right. Tone, we are. All right. Keep my mouth shut. I want to hear you have a good weekend. Let's have a good weekend. Actually, let's have the greatest weekend of all time. And if it wasn't for all of you, we wouldn't be able to do any of this. Thank you all so much. Hey, they're saying our fuel pass on Monday night football did terrible. I'm reading that. You guys reading that? Yeah, right. Yeah, right there. We'll work. We'll get to work. We'll get to work. We got some time. We got some time. On that note, I had a blast doing it. Thanks a lot. It's so fun. Yeah, I think. Yeah, it might have been a long. Yeah. We'll get to work more. I do like that. I opened my ex last night after the movie premiere. And one of the headlines from my search was Pat McAfee's all-cast ass space. Basically, I'm like, thanks. Thanks, man. I appreciate that. It's really nice to you. We'll continue to work. We'll continue to try to be an asset to ball. We think we'll get it figured out. I got nothing but faith in us. But we do know college football cast are coming right around the corner as well. Football is in the middle of an absolute prime time as teams are heating up. Let's go.
And some teams are heating up, "Shite! Who's who? Each week, we never know. That's what it's all about. That's why we play the games." We love all of. Yeah! Also got to talk Angel Reese, crushing it. I think she's winning Atlanta in a WNBA title. That's awesome. Good for women's sports, good for the WNBA, good for MLB, good for the NHL, good for NFL, good for everything. NBA's tipping off in a big way. Sports are the greatest. Let's continue to enjoy them all. Have the greatest weekend of your life. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice of my change of life when we're together. Team on me, team on three. For the good of all, baby. One, two, three, team. Good bye!
