PMS 2.0 1650 - Watt Wednesday with JJ Watt, Rece Davis, Jacob Misiorowski, Shams Charania, In the Trenches with AQ Shipley, Everything DB with Darius Butler, & AJ Hawk

The episode covers a mix of major NBA and NFL developments, focusing on the intense opening night of the NBA season, LeBron James’ return to Madison Square Garden and his symbolic rep of Ohio, and the strong performances of Paul George and the Thunder. The NBA season began with high stakes, including a controversial game that disrupted the Knicks’ banner night and highlighted defensive lapses by the Celtics. On the football front, Jalen Hurts’ injury is a central issue—his blood clot, initially superficial, progressed to a deep clot, prompting concerns over player safety and the NFL’s protocols. Dr. David Chow, a veteran team physician, explains that while the outcome is serious, the long-term prognosis is positive, though the decision to play during the flight phase was medically questionable. The episode also highlights the Indiana Pacers’ hopes for Tyrese Haliburton’s return and a revival of their rivalry with the Knicks. The Colts are in turmoil after firing their GM, with speculation about a full rebuild under a new leadership, possibly including Peyton Manning. Meanwhile, the Houston Texans show signs of recovery, while the Rams and Broncos face internal struggles due to injuries, poor execution, and mid-season coaching changes. Overall, the content underscores growing concerns about athlete safety, transparency in medical decisions, and the impact of leadership changes on team performance across both sports.

Hello, beautiful people, and welcome to another magical What Wednesday, October 21st, 2026. This book program begins right now. Football! You guys didn't want to do it. No, I knew it. As Dennis J. Butler, 9-year NFL vet, 12-year NFL veteran, A.Q. Shipley here as well. We're live in Los Angeles at the beautiful NFL Studios. This is spectacular. Every time we walk through here, we find something new to love. They got studios in abundance. They got magic in store, and we cannot wait to call this place home for the next couple of hours. Now, there's a lot to chat about. The NBA tipped off their season in a huge, huge way. The NFL is about to have Week 7 just tomorrow, and it's about to kick off another magical weekend of ball that the world is going to have to talk about. And then we're also going to get a little bit of an update. On Jalen Hurts' situation with an actual doctor, a man who was a team doctor for 17 years, Dr. David Chow will be stopping by here in about 10 minutes. J.J. Watt will be stopping by. Reese Davis will be stopping by. And, oh, yeah, a guy who's about to start his first-ever World Series for the Brewers, Jacob Mizorowski, will be stopping by. Today should be an absolutely fantastic day as we are out here enjoying this weather, I must say. But from my understanding, the weather is fantastic back in Indianapolis as well. A.J. Hawk has made it. He tripped his thunder down. Hawker! Good to see you, buddy. How's life over there in the Midwest? Because last night I heard Midwest solved. That's what I heard, A.J. I don't know if you heard LeBron James repping for Ohio in a big way, talking about, I'll beat your old white ass. I'm from Ohio, I believe is what went down in Madison Square Garden. We've said it. Ohio people are Ohio people. A lot of people forget that LeBron is an Ohio guy. You. Former president of Ohio. That had to really get you some zeeked-up feelings, seeing LeBron speak like that in New York City. It did, yeah. I was pumped to see LeBron playing, of course. For the 76ers, it felt a little bit odd. But I was definitely excited to see him kind of rep Ohio and feel like he still knows where his roots are. I think it would have been cool if he came back to Cleveland for this season. But I get it. I understand what he's doing. But, yeah, why not? Hopefully this is a trend, though, Pat, like throughout the whole season. We see him going back and forth with random old white dudes. Even in the second round. Yes. If this is going to be another villain LeBron era, and maybe he hears some of the stuff being said about him, whether it's what type of helicopter, whose helicopter he's getting on, what team he decided to play alongside. Oh, he went to a place that has four All-Stars. Well, that's interesting. LeBron James making that decision. He's going to a city that needs a dub in a big way. And if he's going to have that type of mentality, I think the lads will rally around it. And he delivers a massive L on banner night. In Madison Square Garden, D-Butt was glued to his phone yesterday. Oh, yeah. I mean, absolutely glued to his phone everywhere we were. How could you miss a single second of the NBA tip-off to the entire season? Prime time game out here, kind of early evening. Which is perfect. Great. Interesting. What time is the late game? Come on. I asked that. How are you on? I asked that. I said, okay, is there a late game? Yeah, it's already over. It's like, wow. It doesn't even look like it's 9 o'clock right now. That's an absurd thing out here on the West Coast. But the New York Knicks, L on banner night. Yeah. What else? What else happened yesterday, D-Butt? Well, ruined banner night for the Knicks. And look, Knicks had some sweet jerseys. Great chance. And one thing I love about the NBA, these basketball games, is how the fans are on top of you. You get to chirping. And it was great to see the Zoom out, to see who LeBron was going back and forth with because I had no idea. So, that was fun. But they ruined banner night. So, some chemistry. And it's early. So, some people are rusty. Some teams are rusty. Boston Celtics. They didn't look great. I thought they were going to come out looking great. Paul George, he damn sure did. Went back in time. Looked like Peyton. Pacers, Paul George, I believe he had 38 with seven three-pointers. He was unbelievable. Jason Tatum, not so much. The Stones find a way to get a victory in their first game. And then you talk about the last game. The only favorites to get a win, the OKC Thunder, went on the road and got a big-time win over the Spurs. And it's kind of business as usual with SGA. Some people call him boring, which I don't get. He's just a smooth bucket getter. He had an easy 32 and a big-time win over the runner-ups in the NBA. Last year for the title. So, love this one. Got a little chippy, too. Wimby. I see him throwing guys to the ground. I like how he started. Some questionable fouls maybe down the stretch, but a big-time game. A big-time start for the NBA. SGA kind of moves like Jordan a little bit, doesn't he? No. No, that would not be the guy I would compare him to. No? No. I see it kind of moves a little bit. Is that what you think, too, AQ? There's never been anyone in the history of the league that moves like number 23. The 23 from Chicago. OK, so we've been having this conversation. AQ is a master. He's a massive LeBron hater. OK? He is. Huge game last night. 13 points, I think he had. OK. All right. So, this guy. This is what this is. You're 24. This exists out there. He's a professional athlete, too. He knows how hard it is to be a professional athlete. He understands what LeBron's been able to do. He still talks like this. Will always talk like this because of how much he loves Michael Jordan. We've been having this conversation for, what, 14 years at this point. Yeah. There's still not the point where it's like, you know what? At this age, at this stage, what Michael Jordan. Can we compare elder statesmen of the league and how they played against each other? He's a very good basketball player. But to put them in the same breath or category, it's tough for me. It's tough for me. Longevity? Admirable. I mean, this guy's played as long as Robert Parrish. And, yeah, I mean. Shout out. Robert Parrish. Shout out, Parrish. He won't put it in the same order, dude. Oh, this guy's the worst. Lambeer actually came up in the conversation, too. Yeah, I like that everybody's from the old school. OK? Everybody from the old days goes, you think LeBron James would have been able to handle Bill Lambeer? It's like, LeBron James? In that era, Bill Lambeer's a dog. I absolutely love Bill Lambeer. And I'm not getting into it because they were playing two different styles of basketball. But any time you get into basketball people conversation that are very passionate about it, you can stir that up so quick. And I do that with AQ. People forget Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League Basketball Hall of Famer in high school. D-butt as well. But I'm a Bron fan, have been, so I enjoy watching them. If he gets another title here with the Sixers and changes the way Philadelphia operates, I mean, it's hard not to talk about him being a great of all time. Well, there's no question. I mean, you have to put him in the greats of all time. You just can't put him as the greatest, in my opinion, right? And I think if he does go to Philadelphia and gets another championship, it'll be really cool that he went to another team and joined a bunch of all-stars and got it. That's pretty cool. Now, Conman, Boston Celtics had a big lead. They end up relinquishing that. Are you worried about what the Celtics and how they're starting? Is this maybe a year of a full collapse for the Boston Celtics? Tatum not having his best game. Everybody wondering is what he responded with after his Achilles tear last year. Is that all just a drop in a bucket? Conman, is it all panic in Boston right now? No, not at all. I mean, I'm sick of blowing 22-point leads. I'll tell you that much. D-butt said, you know, you expected them to come out hot. They did come out hot. Actually, too hot. Because then they just decided, hey, we're going to shoot a bunch of threes in the fourth quarter and kind of give this game away, which they did over and over again. Actually, that's exactly what got them eliminated in the playoffs last year. But, no, no panic. If Paul George is going to score 38 points a night, 30 points a night, then I think you can expect the Boston Celtics to be playing late in June, going all the way and making a run to the finals. But, yeah, got to stop blowing 20-point leads. That really grinds everybody's gears in Boston. Just go to the hole, Jason Tatum, you son of a gun. But, no, they're going to be just fine. They're actually looking forward to watching them this entire year because they're going to be top three seed in the East. Now, all eyes turn to the Indiana Pacers, who will be playing this evening on DAZN against the New Orleans Pelicans. And maybe, just maybe, Tyrese this year could earn his way back to ESPN. Yeah, I heard the commissioner say that. I think he was saying that as a joke. There were some other things he said where people were saying he tipped off a script. Yeah. Tipped off a little bit. Grass the thunder. Yeah, what if it does happen, though? Then we kind of get it. If we get the game. If we get the game. If the commissioner is just going to tell us exactly what's happening every single season, we like that, not hate that, right? Absolutely. Because then we can go along with it. Yeah. That's right. So, if he's tipping off scripts, let's make sure we utilize that for our own benefit. But the script for Tyrese is one that he had to battle, man, towards Achilles in Game 7. He was going to go on to potentially score 50 and win an NBA title. Go down as one of the most legendary performances in the history of an NBA final. Had multiple game wins. Had multiple game winners through the playoffs. And in Game 7, in Oklahoma City, odds against them. Underdogs for the evening. Oklahoma City had been impossible to beat, especially in Oklahoma City. He started out with like 100 points in the first four minutes. He never did that. He's a guy that distributes. He's a point guard. He kind of gets going late. And once he gets hot, he gets absolute lava. Volcano. Flaw may start coming out. And instead, he tears his Achilles after some Achilles soreness was happening, which has scared us for everybody else. Experience is the same thing in all sports. And the Pacers will go on to lose. And he would miss all of last year. While he was going through his Achilles recovery, he had a lot of different spurts of adversity, including dealing with, what was that called? Shingles. Shingles. Shingles. Shingles on his head that got into his eye. Wasn't able to sweat. Wasn't able to rehab. Wasn't able to recover. But he gained a bunch of weight while he was taking steroids to try to battle against the shingles. Not steroids to get jacked. Steroids to battle against this disease, this infection, this virus. that he had taking over his nervous system on his head. Then he gets back after being called fat and goes absolutely ham in the preseason. Tyrese Halliburton has big dreams this year, and it all starts tonight on The Zone against the Pelicans. It's so hard to say. Watch these highlights, though. Yeah, like Matt Brown, Bruce Brown, who's back there in Indianapolis yesterday, because of the Pacers-Knicks rivalry and because the Knicks win a title when Tyrese is not playing, okay, and Tyrese has gone out in WWE in New York. Jalen Brunson is the champion. They're chanting MVP to him, and Tyrese looks at Jalen and goes, you didn't beat me. I wasn't even on the field. I wasn't even on the court all season. I think the Pacers have big aspirations this year, and we brought in that big Croatian. Who's the big Croatian we brought in? Bruce Brown, also a Croatian. He got married in Croatians on Croatiaian's GQ magazine because of his wedding. Yeah, Big Zoo. Zoo Bots has joined the Pacers as a center. Now that, first of all, Banner Night was unbelievable. It was surreal to see the banner go up in Madison Square Garden, but now with a bit of pressure off, I do just want the Pacers to be great again and restore that rivalry. It's the best rivalry in the NBA recently by far, in my opinion, so I'm pumped for Tyrese to be back, and I'm excited for hopefully it to be playoff games in Indy in New York again this year because that was awesome in 2025. When is that? 82 games from now. Geez, Louie, such a long season. November 13th, number one, first game against the Knicks. I got it circled. Okay, let's count down until then. Foxy, you know you're a big LeBron guy. We all know you're a big LeBron guy. Bruce was saying that it should have been Tyrese instead of LeBron in the garden last night for opening night of NBA tip-off. Your thoughts, Foxy? Yeah, one of the craziest things Bruce has ever said, which is really saying something. We're talking about the greatest player of all time on opening night of the NBA season. First, the Indiana Pacers, who, no offense, they had a top-five pick this year. They really stunk, and I love Tyrese. Top-five pick is Tyrese, wasn't it? Yeah, that's why they're not playing on opening night, and that's why they're on the zone. And you've got LeBron James, greatest of all time, new team. Jalen Brown, one of the greatest players in the league right now on a new team, and it's the Philadelphia market against the New York Knicks. I mean, that was the perfect opening night game. No offense to the Indiana Pacers. He was laid jealous last night. Okay. He wishes the Knicks lost in the final so he could have joined the Knicks, and hopefully had the love and adoration and legacy that Jalen Bronson has attained. Okay, Bruce. Sweet jerseys, Bruce. Yeah, very cool, very cool night. Roger Goodell was in the house. I saw a lot of people celebrating, and LeBron did what LeBron has done for 100 years. Yep. And that's go in there and win. Shout-out to LeBron, still doing it. Good luck to the Sixers and to the NBA. We'll have Shams Sharani with a drive-by here at some point because we're in the same, you know, set as them. Joining us now is a man who will hopefully be able to give us a little bit more information on a very secret. Serious subject. We have tried our absolute best to understand this. AQ, I don't think we've gotten your take on this yet. The Jalen Hurts situation, very scary, I think, but also knew nothing about the topic, so it was hard to kind of get a full feel of it. I knew nothing about it either, but then once I started to hear that, oh, this can travel up, now it gets in your lungs, it could get to your heart, and there's all the different things. I mean, that's a super serious thing, and I had no idea that you could get a bruise on your calf from being cleated, and all of a sudden it turns into this. Like, that's a crazy thought to think. And the fact is. The fact that it took as long as it did to get there is quite interesting, but we have gotten there. It seems like he's made the right decision, and they've kind of shut him down, and you get that fixed, and then you can move on. We're all very scared, though, as we're hearing these things. Oh, yeah. You know, and was this an abnormal situation for an abnormal situation? Like, getting a superficial clot from this, and then it becoming a clot that moves throughout your body as opposed to just. Is that an abnormal. Well, joining us now is a man who is a team physician for 17 years with the Chargers. He is now going to be our expert on what the hell is going on with Jalen Hurts' blood, and is he going to be okay? And how much should we expect this in the future for all of us? Should we be getting ourselves checked? Ladies and gentlemen, Dr. David Chow. Yeah, Doc! Doc! How are you doing, Doc? I'm good. Thanks for having me on. Let me just say this. Blood clots, especially pulmonary embolism, things that go to the lung, are very scary and potentially deadly. Untreated. Treated, the outcomes are. Excellent. So, it has to be recognized and treated. So, I do feel like the good news is, even though Jalen Hurts is out for the season and needs to be anticoagulated, you can't play the collision sport of football, you know, when you potentially have a brain bleed or something like that. But long-term, he's going to be fine. There's lots of examples of this, including right tackle for the Panthers, who played the Eagles last week, first game back after his own lung and blood clot issues, and there, Christian Barrymore, several other examples of it, even recently. So, fingers crossed, they detected it, they're treating it, and long-term, he's going to be fine. Okay, so, that's great news. He'll be able to play again, we assume, and won't have to be on blood thinners forever? Because I've been told you can't play football if you're on blood thinners, and the right tackle would tell us that is the case, right? I think that is correct, that you should not and cannot play football on blood thinners for the chance of a bleed. Look, you can't. Get hit in the head, have a brain hemorrhage, and have it go haywire, more bleeding. You can't take that chance, even if it's.01. So, that's why you cannot play on blood thinners. He's going to need blood thinners for at least three months, if not six months. So, this is why he's going to be out for the season. But long-term, unless they find something different, where his blood is hypercoagulable, something weird going on, I would expect the option to return to play in the NFL will be open to him. Okay, we're happy to hear that, hypercoagulable. I don't even want to dive into what that means, but I assume it is something that he will learn about through this entire process. Speaking of the process, I think that is now the big source of conversation. How do we get to the point where Jalen Hurts finds out about having this superficial blood clot, travels to London, then there was some interesting reporting on sleep habits that have been walked back completely. He, Jason Kelsey, said came out late to the game, didn't even do warm-ups, came out after the National Anthem. The team was already out there. He came jogging out. It was very abnormal, the pregame routine for Jalen. And then afterwards, it becoming what it becomes. The process. There's a protocol, I assume, in place. You were at the NFL for 17 years. I don't know how normal this would be for a protocol to be in place. But can you walk us through how those decisions were made? And the NFLPA has called for an investigation into the process. Roger Goodell, speaking at league meetings, just said they welcome an investigation into this whole process. We will learn exactly how this all went down, I assume, Doc. And when we do, what do we do? What do you think we will learn about the decisions and why they were made at the time that they were made? A lot to unpack there. Look, decisions. Look, this is bad optics, clearly, right? The flight that he played in the game and now it went to his lungs. The optics of this are bad. That doesn't mean the fact pattern behind it was bad. And I welcome it being sorted out. Look, I don't think it was fair to Nick Sirianni to put him out there to try and answer these questions. He's not qualified to answer the questions. You know, I like Dr. Silsberg. For him to just. To say I back up the Eagles doctors doesn't say a lot. I wish he would have said I reviewed the medical records and I back up what they did. That would be more meaningful. So we got to separate fact from fiction here. Let me just say this outright. If Jalen Hurts had a DVT in London, what the Eagles doctors did with him. If he already had a deep vein thrombosis as he landed in London and that was diagnosed. It was wrong for them. To play him in the game, if what he had was a superficial vein thrombosis, it was not wrong and it was acceptable and defensible within medical standards. Now the question is, when did it become a DVT? When did they learn about it? Look, there's been a lot about no sleep that's been walked back. No one tells anyone not to sleep after even a DVT, much less a superficial vein thrombosis. That's been walked back. And as far as the flight back is concerned. Look, if we all in the lay public or announcers or media people know that you potentially can't fly with a blood clot. Don't you think the three Eagles doctors that travel with the team know it? The five athletic trainers know it. Look, he's not in a middle seat on Southwest Airlines. He's in a first class seat on a 747. He can move around, stay hydrated, take low level anticoagulants, move his ankles, get pulse massage, etc. If there was a DVT. If there was worry about a blood clot expanding. So I don't think there was anything wrong necessarily with that if they made some precautions and were aware of their being careful. So it feels like the big piece of information we need is when it became a superficial to a deep blood clot. That is what we need. And how often, last question here, how often is a superficial blood clot becoming a deep blood clot? Is this an abnormal situation for an abnormal situation? And should we all be getting checked on a regular basis so we don't have this happen to us? I think it's a very unusual situation. No question. No question about it. But, you know, I think transparency is good. I've lobbied for after a game if there's a medical question, just like there is a pool reporter that asks the referee questions. I think a pool reporter should ask the medical staff questions and then less conspiracy theories would be out there. Here is what has been put out there. People are called for independent analysis. I'm an orthopedic surgeon. I was the head team position of the Chargers. would consult other experts on this. The Eagles did that. The Cleveland Clinic in London did the workup on the blood clot. It was their advice in terms of what happened. The irony is the Cleveland Clinic has been the longtime Cleveland Browns doctors. They are no longer the Cleveland Browns doctors. So it was an independent group of doctors that looked at Jalen Hurts in London and came to this conclusion. Now we need to look at the facts and make sure that's what's all supported before we all jump in on one side or the other. But right now, I welcome the investigation and the NFLPA doesn't need to demand it. All they have to do is ask for it. It's in the CBA. All they have to do is ask and they get it. Well, they did. They just did it in a demanding way. Okay, so we're all going to learn about what happened. Thank you for clarifying a lot of things. Thank you for taking the time to join us. And thank you for Sports Injury Central keeping us updated in real time every game day. You're the man, Doc. Anytime. You guys are killing it on all your broadcasts everywhere. I love watching you guys. Thank you, Doc. That's Dr. David Chow. Okay, so I think whenever you hear a doctor speak from the perspective of experience, he's saying they had three doctors there. Let's assume that all of them understand what's going on more so than we probably do. But the way we heard about it finding out beforehand, then choosing to travel, then choosing to play, then it gets really bad afterwards. And now this guy's out for three months, six months, he might die to a Super Bowl MVP franchise quarterback. It was all very alarming. I'm appreciative of him coming on and saying like all the things that have to go into every single decision. It's just super scary. Whenever you hear blood clot, we all have some type of and then when you hear Kirk and his experience, you know, his close firsthand experience dealing with that as scary. And then when you hear the all the reports that came out, someone being walked back, it makes you look at the Eagles obviously sideways. You always talk about player safety and obviously players. We're going to try to play through anything almost, you know, whether it's, you know, going to Denver, if you've got sickle cell, we've seen issues like that. So it's very, very scary. I'm sure that the more details will come out as far as how the Eagles handled it. But it was shocking, especially with the sleep thing, which has been walked back. But this was this was some scary, scary news. I think the interesting thing as football players, you're kind of taught to tough everything out. Right. And so whenever you feel, OK, I got cleated and I guess the question is, is what made him get it looked at further from just a bruise to now all of a sudden, what what what are those symptoms that now all of a sudden make him feel more than just a bruise and now go get that checked out? Yeah, I would like to get checked. I think for this, there was something that happened in our timeline that has this a little bit more prevalent than ever. We just need to stay updated on what we need to take care of ourselves. OK, so let's all survive. Joining us now is a man who's not only surviving but thriving. He's the number one color commentator for the CBS booth every single weekend in the NFL. Ladies and gentlemen, the Houston Sports Hall of Famer, the Boring of Honor member for the Houston Texans, the man who comes in every single Wednesday and tells us how smart and how good of a guy he is. Not on purpose, just because that's the type of guy he is. First ever winner of that's a good guy award from us, JJ Watt. That's a good guy. What's going on? What's going on? Where are you guys at? We're in L.A. and I'm going to let you know we're right outside SoFi Stadium and I might move here. OK. Just lay it all out there. To the parking lot or just California in general? Just I think you if you I'm kind of flabbergasted by it. I don't know if the people that work in this particular building understand how nice of a building they have here. We talked about it yesterday, JJ. They're going to move into the building. You're going to live in it. The space. There's enough room. I think I could in here and I don't think anybody would know. This studio out here, JJ, is the nicest building. Every toilet is a bidet. That's for when people are peeing and pooping. That's a big I don't I mean, from what I've seen, I think you make enough to put a bidet in every toilet in your house. OK. Yeah, exactly. Giving it away. You're also giving away enough to buy a lot of bidets. So I don't know. Maybe I'm off. Well, I'm just saying you're talking about me personally. This building is a seven hundred thousand square feet. Every toilet in here is a bidet. That's just pooping and peeing. Now think about they have a cafeteria upstairs. They got coffee. They got ideas. They got whiteboards. They got a theater in here. They got ten studios. They got a studio that can house the entire American Gladiators operation in here. If you wanted to just right over there waiting on it and then outside. I would like to. Yes, exactly. That's what I'm doing. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. I'm in a bad spot. Let's not talk about us being in a beautiful studio. It's beautiful. How about the weather? Perfect. Perfect. Are you? Are you? I mean, is Indian trouble here? Is Indian trouble here? Well, I put it in my neighborhood the other day. Is it Ballard? Was that the final straw? So let's talk about it. J.H., what do you think about the state of the Indianapolis Colts right now? I know the Houston Texans seemingly got it all figured out, don't they? Wow. C.J. Stroud, I thought he was a great player. Uh-huh. Really? I thought he forgot how to play football. I saw him walk into training camp this year. He looked like a guy that wasn't supposed to be a franchise quarterback. Then your defense down there in Houston, guess what? So good? Not this year, it's actually ass. Now, vastly different story. They make a big-time trade. They go from a team that was going to be laughed out of the NFL yet again being a dumpster fire to hold on. The Houston Texans might have found a little bit of magic, and then up in here in Indianapolis? Well, it's the Tennessee Titans. Now, Tennessee Titans were considered Tennessee Shitens by a lot of people, saying it's the worst team in all football. And then the Colts thought that so much so they actually fired general manager. We still don't have a general manager right now. So the state of the AFC South is certainly a fascinating one, and I know you probably have some thoughts on what's going on in Indy, but I would like to compliment the Tennessee Titans on getting their first win. I don't feel like everybody in the building's happy, okay, from the stories we're hearing. Just got their first win. Oh, yeah. I don't even know why we're getting into our car after practice. What is going on over there? It's 2026. They just got a win. I have no idea that we could get the pushcubs. I think anybody that's been in a locker room could probably guess what potentially happened over there, what could maybe drive somebody to get to that point. We've been a part of a situation in the Indianapolis Colts locker room that wasn't that far, but there was certainly a thought that maybe that was going to happen. So we hope they figure that out. But the Titans get their first win, have massive drama in the building, and now they're going to get another win the rest of the season. They might not unless they play the Colts again. What do you think about the Indianapolis Colts situation, J.H.? We fire our general manager. The assistant general manager, who's been with the general manager the whole time, he's now in charge of making very important decisions. Because if we're going to do a rebuild, we have to take advantage of this trade deadline that's coming right around the corner. What is your thoughts, what is your expectations, and how do you think this kind of unfolds for the Indianapolis Colts? Not going to go. The Houston Texans were a dumpster fire. I'm not saying the Colts are a dumpster fire, but we're the first team to make a massive firing, and we're the only one without a general manager, and it's week six of them. So you tell me, J.H., your thoughts on how this is going to go. I think that it's the right thing to do here at the time, especially because the longer you wait for it, the more moves can be made on covering your own ass instead of doing what's absolutely best for the organization moving forward. And maybe that's something that's, um, led for a long time, or maybe that would be something that would have been new. But I think that if you are going to make that decision, you have to do it sooner rather than later, because you need people in those places making decisions what's best for the organization moving forward. And now, again, to that situation, you have to figure out pretty quickly who you want to be making those decisions in the best interest of the organization moving forward. Because if you're going to be making a bunch of moves at the trade deadline, you better be making good and smart moves, especially if you're planning a full-blown rebuild. And you have, you do, you have some really good pieces there, if that's the route they are going. I mean, there are some very, very good pieces in that building, in that organization. Um, for me, it's, as a guy who's played in that division and who's played against the Colts for a very long time, now I've called a bunch of Colts games and know that organization. Like, I really like the Colts organization. I, I really do. I, I, we, I'm fortunate to have had a little success against them. They've had more success against me in my career over time. But I think it is a, it's, I enjoyed it when we had great battles and things. So it's not, I don't take pleasure in seeing them struggle. Um, I just like poking you. I like poking fun at you for it. Um, but overall, like, you know, guys like DeForest Buckner, who I think is an awesome guy, Jonathan Taylor, who's a badger and a phenomenal guy. Like I want to see those guys happy and succeed. So it's probably very frustrating in that building right now. Yeah, it is very frustrating. And thank you for being so kind. And I do like the fact that, um, you point out like, Hey, I'm talking to you. I'm not talking to the entire city because that happens to me a lot in Indianapolis. I just, I just enjoy this banter me and you. Yeah, that happens to me a lot too. Whenever I'll say something to somebody just to get a pop out of that person immediately. Oh, everybody that feels the same way that this person feels now thinks I attack them. And that gets a little bit heated, but I appreciate the way you've handled that. Who knows how the turnover goes? Is it a full rebuild? Are we keeping the pillars that we've paid? What would you do? So I'm a general manager. I saw a version of me singing to Carly Hersey on the internet, maybe becoming the general manager, offering myself up. And then at the very end of the song, Carly says, I didn't click what I saw. Yeah. I think it was a good song. I, From my understanding, they chose a fatter version of me, which I respect and appreciate because there's a lot of that. But, yeah, it was me pitching myself to Carly about all the jobs I do, how I could be a general manager. Now, would I like to amplify that song and say I do think I could be a general manager? Absolutely not. That is not a job that I would want anywhere near my life. But I do appreciate the angle. But at the end of that song, Carly says to me, hey, I've already reached out to Peyton Manning. And I go, perfect, I'll host the press conference. And I think that's the right way to look at this. If we get Peyton Manning anywhere near there to make some decisions. How would that go? Well, Peyton Manning would give up all of his jobs right now and all of his businesses. And he would head to Indianapolis, Indiana, a place that he does not call his home right now. He has a home in Denver and Tennessee because of the kids and the family. So he would drop all that. He would head to Indianapolis and he would say, it's all me to figure out what the hell needs to happen here. Matt Ryan's doing it for Atlanta right now. Now, I don't know if Matt Ryan has as many jobs. I don't know. He's president of football. He's in there, bro. Yeah, but he's committed his whole life. Also financially, like, Peyton, like, I mean, what do GMs make? I don't know what GMs make. What do they make? A percentage of the team, it sounds like, in Indianapolis, if it was Peyton Manning. I think that would have to be a part of the discussion. But for me, I think you have to peel the Band-Aid off now. How much Band-Aid are you paying? Are you peeling off? Peeling or ripping? Both. Rip it. Because you have got Jonathan Taylor. You have got Clayton Nelson. That's a one. That's a one. Jonathan Taylor's a one and a three or a four. Okay? We need at least a one for him. 27 years old. Unbelievable. We might need two ones for Jonathan Taylor. Well, we gave up for Sauce Gardner, which Sauce, incredible football player, might be available if I was in there. If I was in there, just because of how good of a player he is and people have, very high thoughts on him, so the value for him. I think everybody is potentially available right now. We have no number one picks because of the Sauce Gardner trade. So, it's like, if I was to go in there, I would hate it. I have no relationship with these people personally. But for the Colts team and being a paying season ticket holder, I appreciate how much ball these guys have done for the Colts. But if we're trying to actually do this thing, I think trade deadline is a huge day. We don't have picks. And I'm not saying that the draft is going to give us the winner. We have to have some leverage to have something to get somebody. Shane Steichen, is he a lame duck? He's a lame duck right now? Probably. I mean, he's probably a lame duck right now with what he's got going on. So, do we get – we already paid Daniel Jones $100 million. Do we at least need to see Anthony Richardson at this stage of his career if we don't have any hope anyways? Like, do we need to see what that is? Because that could potentially be, you know, trade value as well. Former number four overall pick with a lot of upside. I know there's a lot of coaches that think if he was in our building, we'd be able to do it. It's like, there's so many decisions to be made. That's why firing the GM, it's like, all right, okay, I appreciate you doing it. And then moving his second-in-command guy into it, it's like – Is that the guy? Like, because that's the tough part is, like, now it's going to be on Carly and ownership to say what they want this trade deadline to look like. Because unless this guy's getting the keys for a longer period of time, he's making decisions on an interim basement. That's what I'm saying. Can't be hiring that new GM. This is what we are planning to do. You have to execute our vision. Yeah. Yeah, it's going to be tough to say. I'm happy I'm not in there. You know, good luck to Carly, Kalen, and Casey. Good luck. Good luck, ladies. Good luck. We signed Thomas Morstead. We did. I don't know how I feel about him wearing number four. Yeah, that's an interesting thing. You know, after Vinny going in. In the Hall of Fame year. But, yeah, I don't know. I mean, I love Thomas, but it's interesting. Thomas Morstead taught me how to punt. I love Thomas Morstead. I'm a huge fan of Thomas Morstead. He posted a picture of him with the number four jersey yesterday announcing he was on the Colts. I have not talked to him. He did call me the other day, but he was holding up the number four uniform. And we all immediately were like, we love Thomas. But, I mean, he just went into the ring of honor this past. He just went into the ring of honor. Oh, no way. That's how he's honoring Vinny, though, maybe. He's in the ring of honor, but the number is still available. Harbaugh's number two, right? Am I wrong there? Also in the ring of honor. Yeah, he is in the ring of honor. He had a cup of coffee. You know what, Thomas? Fuck it, dude. Just wear it. You know, we all got GMs, dude. We've won two games in the last 13. We're damn near what the Browns used to be, dude. We're all. We're triple fours, man. Take 18. Why not? Why not? Put 87 on. Put 87 on. Maybe AR going to the 18. We're about two weeks. If you keep doing it, about two weeks, we may believe ours again. 93 on there. I would be a believer if he gets in there and plays football in a professional manner. I would be right at this moment. We paid Daniel Jones $100 million over the next three years. Yeah. Let's move on to something else. D-Bot has a question for you, J. You had the Bills and the Raiders last week. I just want to know your takeaway from both teams. Obviously, the Raiders made it a game late, made some plays, almost had a chance to win that thing. And then Josh Allen just continues to be ridiculous. Still question marks on that defense. The side of the ball, they signed Tredavis White. So let's see if he can get back to form. What's your thoughts on kind of both of these teams going forward after having eyes on them? Yeah. I mean, I think it's with the Bills, the offense, we've kind of been saying it for a while. Everybody kind of knows that that offense is good enough to win a Super Bowl. It's just if the defense can catch up and they held on to the ball better in this game, obviously, than they have up to this point in the last three weeks or so. Josh Allen continues to do things that maybe only he can do. And some of those. Brett Favre type plays where he draws up the defense, flips it over the top. Didn't run the ball, you know, scramble wise nearly as much as he did Monday night. But it's very, very good. It's all going to come down to their defense. And I liked some of the stuff that they did in the game in terms of playing a little more man, being a little more aggressive. Jim Leonard put in Christian Benford directly on Brock Bowers at times. And that worked really well. It was a fun battle to watch all day long to just see how they were trying to defend Brock Bowers. And then on the Raiders side, I like the Raiders. Like, I think Clint Kubiak is a very good football coach. I think Kirk Cousins is not getting anywhere near the credit he deserves for this season that he's having. Kirk Cousins is playing really, really good football. Efficient, delivering the ball. They don't necessarily have the greatest receiving core of all time, but they're playing really well. Trey with the deep ball. The speed is insane. Brock is Brock. The run game continues to be the issue. Jenty is not able to get going. The first drive of the game, we thought he might have. And then the rest of the game, it was not. Really there. Mike Washington deserves some more carries, and we'll see if he gets them. They keep saying they will. So I think the Raiders have the start of something special. I think Clint Kubiak is the guy for them. It's really tough because I know everybody wants to see Fernando Mendoza, but Kirk Cousins is the absolute last problem right now with that team. And you don't talk about the trade deadline. Like, if you're one of those people that wants to see what Fernando looks like, you have an incredible piece in Kirk right now. But he's playing. He's playing so damn good. You know, I don't know if that's the conversation. I might be missing it. I don't know anybody coming for Kirk's head, even though they haven't won a bunch of games. It is fascinating that our entire angle is against the Chiefs. They were close. Raiders, they're getting close. Against the Bills, they were close. They were close. And it's like Raiders fans are like, yeah, it's nice to be close. It's really nice to be close. Is Fernando going to be the guy that takes them over the top? Is Kubiak and Fernando going to be able to take them over the top? I think getting a chance to watch Kirk do good is great for him. Now, if Kirk were to take him over the top, if he would have came in and been asked, I think we all would have got pretty loud about, well, he wasn't seeing the number one overall pick. What's the purpose of using the number one overall pick on a quarterback if you're not going to play him? Throw him in the deep end. You know, there's been the Tom Brady approach has obviously worked. Aaron Rodgers' approach has certainly worked. But if you ask Peyton Manning, I think Peyton Manning says, those first years where I led the NFL in interceptions and have a rookie quarterback record of failure, it was actually good for my development, the way Peyton was. Now, was Peyton ever going to sit behind anybody in anything ever? Absolutely not. But if he would have had, if Andrew Luck would have been able to watch Peyton Manning for like two years or a year, how to operate as a professional, would that have helped Andrew Luck in the long term whenever he's getting banged up and maybe wants to make some changes, doesn't know that he's allowed to do that, but he gets a chance to watch Peyton do that? I think that stuff is invaluable. So, Fernando getting to watch Kirk, who's been around everywhere, and I think they might have similar personalities, I think him playing good football and being able to showcase to Fernando what a professional quarterback's allowed to do and what it's supposed to look like, I think is a home run. I think it's a home run for them out there. I genuinely think that. If Kirk would have been asked, though, I think we all would have been like, "Hey, at this point in the season, get this guy in there," if we're already giving up hope. But it's nice that Kirk is playing good, because I think he's only going to assist Fernando long term on a lot of things. I talk about the Andrew Luck-Peyton Manning thing a lot before. It's like, if Andrew could have seen the way Peyton operated and maybe just natural osmosis picked up a few of that, and I think Andrew ended up doing that later in his career. He almost felt more confident doing a couple more, also the head coach and a CEO of this locker room type stuff, where Andrew was so humble and like, "No, these guys are really good football players." But Peyton was like, "Hey, if we're doing this, we're doing this. Like, if I like this, we're doing this. If this is best for us, we're doing this." That would have helped Andrew tenfold, I think, at the beginning of this. So Fernando getting to see that while not getting injured, perfect. I think we're all saying perfect outcome right now, right, Jage? - I agree. And I think if you're a Raiders fan and like, listen, they don't, I said, There are no moral victories. in the nfl on the broadcast and i get like but if you were sitting there before the season and you said you're going to start out three you know and you're going to lose to both the chiefs and the bills who are afc favorites by three points each after and you're going to be three and three they would have taken it now certainly you wouldn't want to take the beat down by the patriots last week that was not that was a bad game but everything else around that like i don't think he'd be that bad coming off a three win season you haven't even played your number one overall pick yet your young court your young head coach is clearly got these guys bought in and is working towards something like no it's not where you ultimately want to be but you have to be like optimistic right now yeah let's talk about optimism in this stadium that is 20 yards that way so far the home of the los angeles rams aj has a question for you back at the thunderdome jage yeah jage we know the uh the rams are two and four right now which is something i mean a month or two ago you would have never thought that would be the case i guess are you worried about this team is there any chance that they turn around we know davante just ruptured his hamstring hobbled off the field he's out six to ten weeks what do you think of the future of the rams yeah i mean i this is crazy like i i was with everybody before the season where you're looking at the lineup and you're like all right where where's the weakness here and how are these guys gonna find a way to struggle against anybody and i mean i'm sitting here just like everybody else thinking what what's going on here and how is this going to look moving forward you lose the game you lose the game you lose the vante all these guys out like it's it's crazy and i don't have a good explanation for it i think sean mcveigh is an unbelievable coach i think that he's a great motivator he's a good communicator with his guys he's a great x's and o's figuring out how to get stuff so to have them sitting where they are right now is pretty baffling and also looking at them going forward you thought you know they were heading into this stretch where there was going to be a chance for them to really you know rip a couple off get back on tracking and then a big upset with the cardinals when winning shout out the old organization cardinals um but it's it's pretty wild right now and it's one of those things where it's almost like it was so universal that they were almost going to go undefeated that inside that building if everybody out here is questioning it imagine what the conversations inside that building are like right now now it's not just losing games aq saying that some of these play calls are just abnormal for sean mcveigh you you almost think that there is obviously a litany of injuries we haven't seen miles garrett has a los angeles ram yet what will that turn into they have a bunch of talent davante now ruptured or whatever that's a scary situation a word to hear but you're saying even some of the stuff that's happening uh and the play calling is just not normal sean mcveigh shit either right yeah jay i don't know if you watched uh the game but i mean listen there was a there was a fourth and eight call that you need eight yards and he called a halfback screen to the left that blew my mind and then there was also a fourth and one when you got kyron williams you got puka nakua and he hands it off to a third string tight end on fourth and one right if he makes it yeah everybody says great but there was multiple things in that game even matt stafford looking confused at times i just didn't think they looked prepared and when you look at sean mcveigh over the years he's always been so prepared his play calling's been one step ahead of everybody else and so when i watched that game i was like what is going on right now this whole operation looks different and it's not just sean mcveigh and the rams who look vastly different there's another team out there a mile high who look vastly different as well aq has a question for you yeah jay i don't know if you had a coordinator switch mid-season but i think uh obviously the broncos make the switch they go to sean payton from davis right and whenever they did that there was reports that the terminology changed all these different things changed first of all how hard is that on a team to learn new terminology new plays mid-season but also why does this offense look so bad let's that's also surprising in that the terminology would change so much for somebody who's in the building and was underneath you know last year the same regime like it's not like you brought in an outside guy to put in a brand new offense after a few weeks and yeah that there's going to be terminology changes with that uh so it is surprising that there would be so much change um especially when you want that continuity so the whole the whole thing they're not playing great they're just not playing great on offense right now and clearly it didn't matter a whole lot who was calling the plays they're just not executing well at any junk sure right now and they're trying to find that magic again because going into this season everybody thought you know if bo nicks was playing last year they're in the super bowl and now it's like they're winning despite what's going on on the offensive side of the ball so i don't know i i'm you you have as good of an answer as me what do you think well listen i i know i went through offensive coordinator change and and you you end up switching the person right but like you can't change much especially mid-season it's like you just spent seven months garbage terminology all the different things and so now what you're going to install a whole new playbook you can't really do that so now it becomes about execution i think they they lack a running game i don't think when you switch yeah when you switch a play caller like that's why the terminology is so confusing to me like yes you can switch like all right are we gonna is our grip back on track play going to be a screen or are we going to take a shot down the field is our short yards play going to be a quarterback sneak or are we going to run the ball with the running back like there's things you can change from just a play calling mindset but it's really surprising that they're going to be a quarterback sneak or are we going to run the ball with the running back like they're going to be changing terminology in the middle like that yeah i think we're all kind of surprised by bo nicks's development at this stage he looks scared i don't like what they're calling them they're calling them oh no oh nicks that's what they're calling him i don't like it at all jage because he looked unbelievable going into last season going into the playoff yeah breaks his leg we assume that's just going to continue to ascend maybe with a little bit more spite a little bit more revenge but instead it just hasn't gone great yeah because it wasn't like the situation where you see sometimes with like an anthony richard for example like hey he's going to have to get reps and lead to get comfortable playing at a high level quarterback like bo nicks played a ton of college football he's with a og play caller so he looked great and continued to kind of progress and now this year you know you're looking at clips and you're hearing obviously other former quarterbacks talk about him playing like he's throwing a check down before routes are even getting down the field with clean pockets so if i'm watching that as a defender i'm like okay this quarterback isn't confident any of their play calls the old line or himself which you definitely don't want teammates see that obviously fans see that and coaches see that so it's going to be on code we had steve young talking about the biggest thing for him was like play callers to empower him you know empower him you know hey open up playbook you go out there protect me let it rip and he's kind of doing the opposite of that but we're saying all this and they're sitting at what four and two yeah right now so if you've got a head coach of sean payton you have that whole program i still expect them to kind of i guess figure it out and still be in the be in the dance or be in the running when it all comes to uh folded in i haven't had a chance to break down the film yet because we haven't had them i think there's a chance we got them next week possibly with the chiefs but oh is it as bad like i mean some of the some of the things people are saying are you hear fitzpatrick i've seen it right yeah oh yeah fitz was pasted fitz was like really is it that bad he stinks i just i don't know i'm viewing it as a total offensive failure i guess what you just heard say there as like if i'm a db and i'm looking at the decisions he's making on film it's like okay this guy's scared to death i don't have that type of perspective because i'm a punter but i will let you know watching them i'm bummed out about how that offense looks because i mean like the four yards per the four yards per attempt yeah the top of the coverage all the way down like just like everybody's up near the line of scrimmage now like if you're not going to do this over the top all of a sudden the run game gets that much harder all of a sudden everything gets that much harder yeah and that's what people are doing but they're winning games still when they're nowhere near being their best so let's talk about a game that you did yeah yeah defense is unbelievable they had banged up though they're a little bit banged up so there's winning with banged up defense which is their you know um breadwinner and then the offense that we thought was going to be sean payton drew breeze 2.0 with a little bit more pizzazz because bo can move has just been a a big dauber don fest and uh i don't like that you know what doesn't have my dauber don jage what listening to you and jim nance call a football game you get me so we excited at home this upcoming weekend you got a big one connor has a question for you jade yeah jade steelers and browns are both four and two but everyone seemingly thinks bangles ravens are the class of the afc north which i disagree with tone just for the record you have that game coming up this weekend in baltimore what's kind of your expectation of this one uh do you agree it's kind of bangles and ravens have a kind of a front seat to this division and what are you expecting is lamar playing do you have any inside info you can let us know about have you talked to the teams yet um what is your expectation about sunday i have no inside information i am wondering and looking forward to finding out the same as you are if he's playing or not because i i love watching lamar play and i hope to have the opportunity this weekend we'll see today if he's out there practice or not i think it's going on right now um but i think this is i don't know if i would say like it's this is this is the top two in the conference just because in the division just because i also didn't expect the browns to be where they are right now and and the steelers being able to pull that one off when it didn't look very good for them early in the game so this is a division and we all know like this division every single year is just an absolute bloodbath and now what i'm most excited about being here for this game is that this game is like one of those bloodbaths and there's plenty of additional motivation in this one as well i think the trey hendrickson uh angle of going back and you know playing against his old team for the that there's Jamar Chase and uh joe burrow have had a ton of success against the ravens in the past so i'm looking forward to seeing if they get that connection fired up and revved um this there's just so much here and like it just it's the black and blue division it's like it's gonna be a blast how are you going in there uh taking some punches from jim nance trying to send his ass to the hospital again like you did with his wrist did you expect him to swing that hard no way we talked to him yesterday we're like hey i liked it in your brain like at one point he was like i'm gonna try to actually get this out like i think he was actually trying to punch that out try to seize the opportunity and instead he kind of hurt himself had no swollenness or no injuries yesterday which quick recovery still for jim nance which we should expect but can you talk about this situation and actually feeling how hard jim went for it was like jim what did you think was going to happen here i think that was a good moment yeah so like i i obviously said like hit it as hard as you got and that's i i thought was more of like a phrase like obviously i can't demonstrate how to hold the football and not fumble and then fumble it so i'm gonna hold on to that sucker like it's like it's my child and i i i knew he was gonna hit it but i just i had no idea that he was going to legitimately try as hard as he could to get that ball and that what the my reaction like immediately you could feel like the reverberation where like he goes up somebody's arm and like i was just like all right man i i i hope you're all right right now and then we got to the break and he was like it was great but the thing i respect the most about jim nance is that he just no hesitation he was almost excited to give every ounce of energy he had into it and he was like i'm gonna give this sucker a go and he just full oh it was awesome and he committed to it and that's fun ass moment in the booth and in jim's mind i force a fumble on jj watt right now oh here we go jim and he was going for it that blake groupie mindset he did have the blake groupie mindset that's right that is right we should celebrate that that is worked out yeah we like part of all is like we were talking about a real legit conversation and then monday night football came up in the game like mccaffrey gets it punched out maybe if you're using the eagle claw you aren't sick or punched out or the wrist lock chase on had an incredible punch oh yeah football thought it was sunny styles he had about 13 or 14 tackles he had a hell of a monday let's talk about a guy who had a hell of 11 minutes in the fourth quarter for the new york football giants ty has a question for you jay yeah jj it has been announced that jj mccarthy is going to start on sunday for the new york football giants uh and he did he had a hell of a fourth quarter came in and kind of just let it rip played without really thinking which is maybe what he needs to do every week maybe he just needs a hardball to be coaching him but what do you think of this decision um the nfc east is still wide open and it seems like this could be you know this could either go very wrong for the giants or it could give them the type of juice where they could potentially run away with this division yeah it seems like there's a lot of decisions going on up there um which are i mean that's you have a new coach and he comes in he's implementing his way and whether it's the this decision here um just trying to find the best possible way to win and i the one thing that i know about this because obviously i wasn't able to watch the whole game because we were on but we have the red zone on while we're getting ready and everything and i just saw a couple rips across the middle and i thought to myself wow james is really firing that thing in there and then i came to find out it was jj mccarthy chucking the ball around so um he's had some good comebacks before in the past and wasn't able to quite capitalize on that moving forward in the first half of the season so that's a good thing to look at and i think that's a good thing to think about and i think that's a good thing to look at and i think that's a good thing to think about is this the is this the way i don't that division has plenty of opportunity in it there's no question about that yeah the nfc east is the first division in the history of ball to not win a single game in a two-week portion the tie between the commanders and giants certainly had their own gaffes and then the lads continued for another week jj mccarthy almost came back and won this thing against the saints you mean that's is that trash time the first division to do what to not win a single game in two weeks oh this is this is a cell phone here but i i thought there's a shot that you and i might have been a part of that stat i thought since the since the amc there was a thing though like since the colts have been asked the texans have been good like you guys have been you guys have represented somebody's yeah on the internet jacksonville jaguars now very good i think we all expect them to be good on a regular basis for the foreseeable future because liam cohen and trevor and the lads haven't figured out the titans have always been you know kind of hit or miss but when vrabel got in there they were number one team in the afc for a couple different occasions so we've always had rotating casts who would represent for us i think in the afc south the nfc south also had a shot at that with because there's always like a nine and eight winner like eight and you know i thought there might have been a shot there too yeah it turns out having a tie on there is really good in the nfc east so i think we're going to have to see if we can come back and get them uh over the hump to maybe host a home playoff game one of these teams will do and everybody will be upset about it that'll certainly be the case speaking of being upset i don't know if that's what leads to unrest either anger upset or piss off tivity which has seen certainly appears on some of the videos we're seeing on the internet huge football game happening this weekend in paris bonjour sava sava sava it appears aj has a question for you jj jj yeah your brother is heading over to paris to play the saints and there is a little bit of local unrest as people may have uh i guess described the action going on how do you think this game's going to go and if has your brother anyone else on the team let you know like if they have any kind of worries or sister or sister-in-law maybe yeah anybody really um i know i know that there are i know people are concerned uh i know that there have been meetings and security meetings and i know that there have been meetings and discussions as there are with any international game um i don't have a whole lot beyond that other than i i mean i know it would take a lot for it to get uh to get moved or anything like that because we all know the operation that goes into this and we all know the uh the magnitude of the financial opportunities and the things that come along with it so i i would be pretty shocked uh but i would imagine there's going to be some extreme security measures taken for this game jj pat mcafee from the pat mcafee show here as you're doing a press conference for this what do you think the players will say about these uh unrest happening in france i think they will say that they're there to play a football game and that they're confident in these security measures in place and that they are looking forward to playing a game darius butler here from the pat mcafee show um love your work thank you i appreciate that i actually forgot my question oh really pat mcafee from the pat mcafee show actually has a question for you here jj actually aq shipley from the pat mcafee show has a question for you here jj handoff all right yeah yeah i got a question about the louvre do you think they're gonna check out the louvre and have extra security as they visit that uh pre-game it's actually a good question aq i appreciate you asking it um i do believe oh the saints have been there all week have they not yeah they want to a psg game get back to the louvre please jj as you're handling this board because now that now that i thought about that i completely forgot about that like what what have they been doing all week they're fine yeah go to the louvre put me back on there put me back on there darius butler from the pat mcafee show what do you think about the travel plans different travel plans for the different teams what do you think about that especially what happened in australia earlier this year well i think australia was its own uh thing and i do think that you need i think going as late as they did especially now that i've had more time to think about it and we've all seen the result of it um actually my wife and i had a deep conversation about it and i think that's a good thing and i think that's a good thing and i think that's a good thing about this because we significantly disagreed i have always been on team go as late as humanly possible so i was on the ram side for that um and then we kind of talked it through and she backed me down a little bit because of you need just that at minimum that one extra day to flush it out from the flight like i the the time change and the sleep and everything is one thing but flushing out the physical flight is another thing i don't like going a week early because i know i mean i've researched it myself that's not enough time to fully acclimate to the time zone and everything else that comes along with it so i do like the thursday night land friday flush everything out friday you got saturday kind of to get back on somewhat of a normal schedule and then play sunday so i do like that the one week thing is a little tough to you're not really doing anything in my opinion yeah jj connor campbell here from the pat mcafee show um do you i don't know if i want to take questions from you but okay thank you very much i appreciate your kindness uh do you expect aaron rogers to go and visit napoleon bonaparte tomb and what do you think uh aaron rogers will say about the uh kind of situation developing over there jj well if there's anybody that we would definitely want to get the opinion of the situation and probably have the most uh researched information on it that's that's the one and i mean i don't know what he'll say on anything um i have a follow-up to that jj this is tony diggs from the pat mcafee show um do you think big mike mccarthy is going to poop in the sin or the sin uh just like they did before the olympics food who pooped in the same everybody People were just pooping in the river? Yep. All right, this press conference. What do you mean? They were just dropping their pants? Yep. It sounds like you don't know the subject at all. Yeah, I don't know. They're worried about. You guys are acting like I'm calling the Paris game. I don't know. The Olympics, your press conference. I don't know. Look at the headline. Look at the lower third. J.J. Watt press conference on the state of the NFL. Why am I having the press conference? Because you're J.J. Watt. Because you're J.J. Watt. Yeah. What qualifications do I have to be good at talking about the Paris game? You're J.J. Watt. You're freaking Watt. Why are you having a press conference if that's not what you're doing? What are you doing? No. That's what I want to know. You own a European soccer team. What am I doing having a press conference? Two of them. Yeah, you do know Europe. You have two different. Aren't you healthy? I caught on my red zone him going to the blue tent, missing halftime. Is he fine? Is he? What's the deal? They didn't even report me on the injury report. So, yeah, he was playing through it. He was playing through it. He got stepped on, had an ankle. They were worried he wasn't going to be able to make it to the locker room. That was great content. We didn't hear a single thing about the Champs-Élysées there, the Arc de Triomphe, the Eiffel Tower. I mean, he asked about Napoleon. You didn't say a single thing. This is your press conference. It says it right there at the bottom. Big fan of Paris. Hope that people are able to see it because it's a phenomenal place. Fun story about Paris. I don't know how this applies, but maybe they'll use it on their own broadcast. Thank you. We're doing the broadcast. My brothers and I, we went on a trip early in my career. I wanted to take them once I made a little cash. We went and we stopped. Paris was one of the stops on our trip, and we were not adjusted to the jet lag. So we woke up at 2 a.m., and we did a jog down the Champs-Élysées, through the Arc de Triomphe, down past the Eiffel Tower. And that was a really cool life experience for us. So we have a photograph of us at 3 a.m. underneath the Arc de Triomphe. Would you do that tomorrow? They were both in college. Would you do that today? Who was that? Who was that? Who was that? He didn't identify himself. You identify yourself? Excuse me. Aaron Hawkins on the Pat McAfee Show. Would you do that tomorrow if you were there? Back to full screen, Judge, please. From what I've seen and what I, like, yeah, I'll go for a jog because what, I mean, yeah. Try it. Try it. Rumor is the Steelers were actually going to go over early, but they were worried that Aaron would be throwing so many Molotov cocktails 60 yards at people that they had— That's not. They didn't ever say that. Not really. Not really. They didn't say that. You know what? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They're pissed. They're not. Remember the. The video's worse with the manure. This is not that. Oh, yeah. I think that's associated. Yeah, maybe. I mean, it feels like they're always, "Nope, not gonna get into that. I don't know their history well." No, I think the world. Now can we make it your press conference? Because I think there's one thing that the world really wants, and it's Pat McAfee's opinion on absolutely everything. And so we would love, not on the football game, your analysis of the geopolitical effects of the unrest. Go. Yeah. Over there, it's Stade de France. Great football game's gonna be played. Thank you so much, JJ, for handling it all. You're the man. Thank you for letting us. It's JJ. Ladies and gentlemen, it's JJ Wong. Yeah, JJ. I spoke to. I don't even know what that was. Gumby, what was that? Do we know what that was, Gums? What was that? Was it some sort of a seminar? He looked at a conference. It appeared to be a seminar for. A summit? It was Next Generation Sports. I don't know. I don't know what that was. interchangeable pieces. It's very similar to what he did in Arizona with Buda Baker and all the different DBs, Garrett Williams. You have no idea what's going to happen, but when we look at the third play, again, we are going to see seven and 33. That is the key, right? Then you're going to see the two guys over here, defensive end, defensive tackle. You think they're coming, right? They're hands in the dirt. They're edge rushers. They're going to come. Nope, they're not, but check out 33. Again, seven's up there. He can come in probably in the next couple of weeks. He will come, but again, drop out and bring number 33 unaccounted for. Dak Prescott, wide open. They don't have an answer for it. Incomplete pass. So you're saying John Gannon will bail the Cannons, and then he'll also bring the Cannons, and 33 is seemingly the one that everybody's keeping their eye on. This week he was. This week he was, but don't get it twisted. Number seven can come next week. I mean, they're interchangeable pieces across the secondary, and they can bring whoever they want. Yeah, and those three safeties of Javon Bullard, number seven, obviously Xavier McKinnon, number 29, and Evan Williams, number 33. Probably the best safety, I guess, trio in the National Football League. Everyone, everything DB had a pick. McKinney had a couple picks. Bullard calls one of those with the tip pass, and Evan Williams, that pick was phenomenal. Phenomenal. Do we like you? We like this defense. Let's go back to the Thunderdome. Ty Schmidt, obviously you were worried whenever Halfley leaves. Halfley leaves, they bring in Gannon. Gannon had a couple quotes about having fire in his gut. Hell yeah. And getting the boys motivated out there in Arizona. Now just focusing on D. Hey, good work. Good work. Now just focusing back on being a D.C. Have you liked what you saw? And then we get, Micah, back what, week 12, week 13, everything's off and running, pal? Yeah, we'll see. I was worried initially because Jeff Halfley was so good. But AQ actually said very early on, he was like, oh, I love this for them because he obviously got to talk with him every week last year when he was the head coach. And it's pretty, I mean, I think it's abundantly clear. And we'll see. He might get the opportunity to be a head coach again after this year somewhere else because the defense has been performing so good. But he's very clearly a very good, defensive coordinator. And this is multiple weeks in a row now. This isn't, you know, an aberration like they, like AQ said, they've kind of picked up the slack when the offense hasn't really performed. And yes, it's very encouraging to know that they don't have their best player yet. And when Micah does come back, it's just going to kind of unlock things even more. But their secondary is, is unbelievable. They lead the NFL in turnovers right now or forcing turnovers, which has kind of been even something with Halfley last year. They, you know, they, they weren't turning the ball over a bunch. They were just very, very good and very aggressive. So if they can continue this up, like this is why I think, you know, I believe that they can win the NFC North for sure and have a deep playoff run because the offense is starting to find it. And if this defense can continue at this pace, like there's not going to be a whole lot of teams that are going to want to see them late in the season. I think Ty brought up a great point in the fact that Micah Parsons hasn't been there. And once he gets that guy back, like he had with Josh Sweat last year, that one-on-one pass rusher, I think that's going to unlock a lot more things that he can do with his defense and the pressure packages. But the other thing, as I got to talk to him every single week last year, I thought the thing that was most interesting that he said was when he first kind of came up with this hybrid pressure, three DBs, three safety defense that he kind of employed in Arizona, started in Philadelphia, was they always played cover one on the back end. It was always man coverage and you put your DBs in terrible situations. Well, now he's able to play shell coverage and he's only unlocked and they've turned this thing into his defense from Philly, but put it on steroids. AJ, you see the Green Bay Packers defense hunt like that. You get reminiscent of the days where the defense led their team to a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers, a quarterback. Well, of course. I mean, when you have a guy like Jordan Love, who's I think playing very well so far these last couple of weeks, especially, and the receivers are definitely stepping up. Christian Watson's an absolute star. If you can, we've said before, if you could have an average to above average defense, you're going to be really good, but their defense is playing great right now, especially these last three weeks. And I think that D line is very unheralded, not a lot of national exposure to these guys, but not only on, they're getting pressure on quarterbacks and forcing guys like Dak Prescott into poor decisions like this. AJ week 12, potentially for, uh, Mike at a return. Now that has not been confirmed, but it was certainly hinted at by Adam Schefter and the insiders know more information than we do. And we third, we heard week six Dallas Cowboys is when Micah would return. Then we heard one insider. I don't remember if it was, uh, Schefter junior or somebody from outside say maybe week five, week six for Micah, then junior came on and said week six, week seven, maybe for a return for Micah. And then Schefter came on the other day and was like, you start looking at that schedule. They got Minnesota, they got new England, then they got a Carolina, then they got a buy. Then you go on the other side. That's not a bad time to get Micah back. It's the first time it was introduced that it might be like week 12 when Micah returns, does it matter? It certainly does right for all parties, but we want him as healthy as possible and as close to Micah as possible before he comes back with how good this defense is performing. Absolutely. You want him feeling as good as he possibly can. I think I even saw something where he was, it wasn't his own podcast where he's saying like, I don't need to rush back. And all of a sudden, yeah, my ACL holds up or whatever, but I pull my groin or something that happens a lot of times when people come back too early, you're compensating and something else happens. You pop a calf muscle or something. If you're nursing something else. So yeah, I think it's a, it matters for sure, but you want Micah healthy when you're going to make a playoff push. Okay. Join us now. Speaking of healthy, are you high state age? I don't like what happened there. They're saying that was here on Julian, right? They got something in the elbow. Has there been an official diagnosis and what are we hearing AJ out of the Buckeye world? I don't know if there's anything official. I think it's an elbow, right? They're talking about possible UCL, whatever, whatever anyone doesn't really, we don't really understand that completely. We hear about Tommy John surgery and baseball when you hear about this UCL situation, but the fact that he's out indefinitely and they're preparing, like he's going to be out for an extended period of time. Yeah, definitely. Definitely. It kind of changes the landscape of college football. I think. I would say, yeah, huge win for the Ohio state Buckeyes over Indiana. If March stays in bounds, what's the storyline? I think it's still the Julian saying is not going to be able to play for the foreseeable future. And they have a backup quarterback when Jeremiah Smith was potentially on pace to win the actual Heisman and break every record that a wide receivers ever had at Ohio state and maybe in college football, huge storyline there. Let's dive into all the big storylines with the program host of college game day football and basketball every week. He stops by and gives us the Reese's pieces from the weekend. Ladies and gentlemen, Reese Davis, Reese. Oh, what's going on, pal? Three of us, three wide. We all wanted to say hello to you. We appreciate and love you, brother. Thank you for doing this every single week. That Julian saying piece of information feels like a massive piece from the weekend. What says you Reese Davis? Pat, I agree. That is a huge thing and really sort of underscores the importance of the program. What I think the biggest takeaway from last weekend was just how small the margins are between these teams, because I still felt as if you could make a pretty good case, despite the loss to Texas at Ohio state was the best team in the country. And certainly after they beat Indiana, you could now you don't really know what you're going to get. And then you have just how close Indiana was. Nick Marsh steps out of bounds, half a foot just lands on the white that stops the nation's longest winning streak. That's how close Indiana was. And then how close Indiana is to being undefeated and going on. And it really is that way across college football. You think about Notre Dame BYU, Notre Dame should have had one more second. Does that make any difference if they have the extra second or not? Maybe, maybe not difference in winning and losing the game. Miami got a call on a simultaneous possession play in the end zone and overtime against Florida state. Maybe they lose. And then the one thing that I felt like I could count on in the end zone and overtime against Florida state is that they have a lot of time. So I think that's one of the things that we're going to have to think about. I think we're going to have to think about that. I think we're going to have to think about a clean performance, particularly at home. And then Gunner Stockton just kind of dropped the ball. I mean, Auburn was reaching for it, but that's not the kind of hit that normally makes Gunner Stockton give up the football. Then Georgia commits penalty and Auburn beats them in the deep South's oldest rivalry, 27-24. And the one thing you thought, well, that is a lot. There's no way Auburn goes into Athens and beats Georgia. That's not the kind of hit that normally makes Gunner Stockton give up that happens. So you can't even count on the things that you thought were the most reliable things of the sport. And it makes it just absolutely fascinating and delicious every week. You know, we've talked a little bit about the officials. I'm seeing the past interference call that was not. I don't want them to miss past interference. I can live with that. I can live with missed holes, past interference, all of that. The administrative stuff really needs to get tightened up. You know, if there's a second left on the clock. If the ball needs to be spotted a certain place like the Oregon-UCLA game, we need to get those right. Yeah, I think the one second thing we've already seen could certainly get added back onto a clock. We've seen that in college football and we've seen reviews do things that have changed the outcomes of games or adds another play. I agree wholeheartedly that the Notre Dame people should certainly have a gripe about the one second and who knows what could happen in one second in football, especially with how talented that Notre Dame team is. I do think that is taking away a lot of the hype away from this BYU team. What a morning we had out there in Provo, Reese. You've been a part of game day for so long, both football and basketball. I don't know if you've done college game day basketball out there, but I'm not 100% sure I had any idea of what was in store for us on Saturday morning. They'd been camping out since Tuesday. They stormed the field for the kick. They stormed the field afterwards. It felt like an entire state was riding alongside of us all damn day for college football. Three million dollars. Ryan Smith and Sweeney certainly really pumping. They showed up. They were told the night before, though, Reese, you were there. I told Ryan, you come to that kick. You come to that kick. It's definitely going to happen. He wanted to come support a friend is what he said. Me, as friend of his, said, hey, got good news. You could be a part of this. So he and Sweeney, massive pieces of the entire culture. Taysom Hill, Austin Colley. I mean, Steve Young going 10 for 10. The chance, the energy. Cosmo came in from a plane. Then they get the win at the end of the night. I mean, it was a legendary Saturday for our particular program, College Game Day, and I'm very lucky to be a part of that. But I'll never forget that for the rest of my life, Reese. I don't think I'll forget that Saturday morning for the rest of my life. It was just such a different, awesome experience. I don't know how you have explained it to others, but it felt unique, and it certainly was, brother. It certainly was. Pat, there were so many. You just listed those different aspects. We've had unbelievable. I think maybe prior to this, Cal was as memorable as anything that we've done because we were so surprised at the magnitude of that and how engaged they were. But there were so many different facets to this show, and there was such a genuine outpouring of enthusiasm and love for it, and they were excited to get a chance to prove themselves against Notre Dame. And it's as memorable a morning, as memorable a show, as we've had. And I've been on the show 12 years now. And we've had some great ones, man. I loved going to Washington State and fulfilling that quest they had for 15 years of getting game day to their campus. Cal was phenomenal. James Madison. We had a Jonas Brothers concert breakout. But that thing Saturday morning at BYU was as good as it gets, man. I feel fortunate, too, man. I love this sport so much. And to be able to be part of it and be in atmospheres like that and share it with all you guys and we get to sit around for three hours and talk ball and to have some fun with it, too, and sort of capture the atmosphere, tough to beat. It's going to be tough to top that one. But I'll bet Utah tries on Saturday, don't you think? Yeah, the mighty Utah student section, the must. They definitely saw what happened at BYU. And we – I talked about this yesterday. We are so fortunate that these schools come show love and show up for their institutions whenever college game day comes to town. Utah, whenever we were there, a few years back and we've been there two times now, I've loved my time there for the Utah Utes. I have enjoyed their student section. I've enjoyed their energy. I have enjoyed what they brought. But to your point, whenever you look back, it's like the JMU won absurd. Young Bailey Zimmerman also performed with the Jonas Brothers there. He has gone on to become a massive star. Maybe game day has an eye for the music world going forward. I don't know how music always works with the game day crowd. I think we're all kind of witnessing that every single time. There is a performance. Some of the folks in the crowd might not know the songs. And then it doesn't seem like they're not interested or they're just listening to the song, having a good time. Whatever. We are always thankful. But you're right. The James Madison crowd, gigantic. Montana State was so cold. I mean, there was fires and stuff all night as we're sitting in the ice cold. Going to BYU for the first time in 17 years was awesome. We had back Houston, Utah this upcoming weekend. Before we talk about this upcoming weekend of college ball, we got to – Yeah, certainly talk about some decisions that have been made. Tone Diggs has a question about what's going on in Michigan. Big moves. Big money moves being made up there. Yeah, Reese. Huge money moves with what Bryce Underwood is reportedly being paid at Michigan to play quarterback. Tommy Carr comes in the second half against Penn State. Looks really, really good. You know, has two rushing touchdowns. Moves the ball. They score 21 points in the second half versus zero in the first half. What are your thoughts on that situation up there? Because I know the schedule is still tough, but they looked like – a lot better football team in the second half. And is there any chance that could potentially happen down in Texas this weekend? I don't think anything's off the table. I think this is a real crossroads-type moment for Texas as a team and for Arch as the quarterback. Now, Arch is super talented, but it just doesn't look right right now. It's never one person's fault. Everybody has to share responsibility, but, you know, you look at all of the – they don't do a great job on the offensive line. When you go back and look at the tape later, you see some, you know, easier access, quicker release-type throws that are maybe passed on that then create some of the problems. They haven't been able to run as effectively. But something has to change for Texas. Now, does that have to be the quarterback per se? I don't know. But they're too talented. They've got too much invested in terms of the big money question to – to perform offensively the way they've performed up to this point. And to see them sort of jump out to a lead on Florida, and I went back and re-watched that game this week, to see them jump out and then just sort of fizzle and go flat and not do much was kind of jolting, startling, and, you know, maybe – I still believe Arch is really talented. I hope he can turn it loose and find it. That would be best for everybody involved. And if they need to coach better, call plays better, get the ball out of his hand quicker, whatever, whatever it might be, I hope that happens for him. Because, you know, you don't like to see anybody who's as gifted as he is struggle the way – the way he has, or at least not play to the level of his capabilities. But it's a big week. Yeah, who knows? Trinidad-Chamberlain's coming in big week. Yeah, huge week. And we'll pivot to Trinidad-Chamberlain and Ole Miss here after this wrap-up of the Arch Manning Convo. We've seen greatness. It's in there somewhere, you know. It's just, can it consistently be? Is it technique-driven? Is it decision-making-driven? Is it – Is it confidence-driven? Is it whatever it is? We don't know. But we're watching it unfold, and I think everybody is seeing the same thing. They take on Ole Miss and Trinidad-Chamberlain, and everybody has said for a long time Trinidad-Chamberlain might be the best quarterback and the best football player on any field in college football. They have a big-time loss. They have to move on. Where do you sit with Ole Miss right now? Where do you kind of stand with this team? How should we be viewing them? Should we be viewing them as if we just came off the LSU win and they're untouchable? Or – Should we be viewing them after a couple situations where maybe they're not perfect because no college football team is? Yeah. I think the – I think a lot of us were sort of shaken by the Florida performance, not necessarily that they lost, but that they kind of got handled. I thought it was a really good response for them against Missouri in their most recent game. But now you go on the road, you know, going to be taking on a team that is desperate, sort of a if-not-now-when, type of game for Texas. So I think we look at Ole Miss the same, but Ole Miss has some vulnerabilities, I think, on defense in the secondary. I thought their defensive line would be a little bit more dominant than it has been up to this point, though they certainly played well Saturday. So I think you still look at Ole Miss as a contender, and based on the way things are unfolding in the SEC, I think you make a pretty good argument that they're probably the second-best team in the SEC behind Georgia at the moment. But in order to be that and maintain that, they'll need to play well on Saturday night and see if they can get a win on the road. And that'll be very difficult, I think, because desperate teams often bring their best ball. And we'll find out if Texas can do that against a really, really good Ole Miss team. Arch Manning's, what, 4-0 against top ten teams down there in Austin? You know, he has massive wins across the board, even though everybody's talking about him maybe getting benched because there's a lot of talent in Texas. Hopefully, you know, Arch Manning in Texas can figure it out, but Trinidad Chambliss coming to town isn't the right person you're trying to figure it out with. IU with Michigan, I know that's a big decision. I think some Ohio State Buckeye people that we know say, we don't like that that happened. We don't like that Tommy Carr is now the starting quarterback for Michigan because their defense has been one of the best in the country, and now offensively they might be able to get some stuff done that they weren't able to do with Bryce Underwood. Maybe Bryce Underwood gets a chance to step back and develop and play good football watching somebody else do it. A.J., I think you're a little bit nervous, right, about Michigan's big move at quarterback. Is that not an accurate depiction of what you're saying? Well, I mean, the fact that he steps in, the team looks very good, he energizes the whole squad. I know their defense has been elite all year, and then Ohio State's starting quarterback goes down indefinitely. Yeah, it's definitely a time of change in college football, but I still feel pretty good about Ohio State's chances. Okay, I love Ohio State. His first thing was like, I don't like that they're moving to maybe a better quarterback, and we are in an open quarterback competition for the quarterback, Ohio State, at this stage of the season. What are they doing over there, A.J. and Reese? You might know better. It is a quarterback competition for the backup, or do they already have a guy? Yeah, Reese, actually, I want to ask if you have any insight on this. Luke Fahey and Tabian St. Clair, Ohio State has a bye this week, and then they travel to USC after that. It basically sounds like we're having a 10-day kind of open QB competition. It sounds like Coach Day, I guess, says that whoever gives us the best chance to win will play. What do you think plays out here, Reese? You know, I think because Fahey won it in camp and finished with the backup role behind, say, in first. My suspicion is that he will get the start, but if Tabian St. Clair, who is so highly touted and has a lot of natural ability, if he can be close during this 10-day period, A.J., I would imagine he will get his opportunity at some point. I'm not implying that there will be a short leash necessarily for Fahey, but if you don't have a proven commodity back there and you have the stakes that Ohio State has, has you you might have to roll the dice a little bit so um very difficult situation that he was put in last Saturday after Julian got hurt and we'll see how he responds with a little more time I think the bye week is a a perfect thing for the Ohio State quarterback situation they'll get a chance to evaluate everybody and get both guys comfortable in their role and I wouldn't be surprised to see them use both of them until one of them steps forward in in a game-like situation Reese super dauber Don situation for all college football is the 2014 playoff was basically instituted D-butt's got the last question for you about everything this past weekend yeah I definitely hated it uh initially but last week the week seven that was crazy I was like all right maybe they got something I know you've covered a game but in the forefront of covering the game through all the areas the BCS the 14-12 team and now we're going to go eventually well next year into the 2014 uh this weekend change your mind about it and what are your thoughts about the 2014 playoff I mean I'm still not in favor of it uh D-butt I'm really not but I understand the point because one thing I don't know that I've done a good enough job explaining my position once we get there to the 24 it's going to be awesome I mean you know two two weeks with basically uh two sets of eight home games that's going to be a lot of fun my my um hesitation or uh objection to it is I feel like the cost is a little too high on the front end and sort of taking away from the stakes uh for games like we had last week but I don't think there's any question that once we reach that playoff stage that it is it's going to be fantastic and you know I'm I'm not taking a position like you know you heard with people some fans sometimes even some coaches when NIL came around they start paying the players I'm never watching again I'm I don't feel that way at all I just don't know that it's best for for the fabric of the sport long term if it's a decision made with some immediate gratification that has some long-term ramifications that we haven't seen yet but I think that when when we actually get to those games and you're playing those playoff games on campus and a lot of teams are involved and there'll be some chaos that part of it there's no question that part of it will be fun man people got really mad though about it I mean people are really mad about it you know coach saving you I believe you were one of the uh I don't like it I think there's just been so much rap there's been so much radical change to something that is so kind of rich with tradition you know so I I think anytime and I I mean this the name of the show is uh after me so I can only really give my perspective but me dropping into college game day was quite a radical change for college football and college game day as a whole and I got to experience the college football traditionalists who very much hated what I brought into it for a long time now I think we've won some people over which I'm grateful for and I'm very lucky and have been for the entire time to be a part of it but I got a chance to actually physically feel and experience a radical change to something with this exact group of people I think that is the biggest takeaway it's like we're making a lot of very big changes to people that have loved something for a very long time with how it is let alone the professionalism of a sport now now we got free agency and by everything's happening we got from 2 to 4 to 12 to 20 it's like everything's happening so fast I feel like a lot of college football fans are like this is disrespectful to us like you are just basically saying that thing we love thing that we've invested our entire lives into not good enough we have to change it completely I think there's a little personal offense that is coming to a lot of these college football fans as well for something that they feel rightfully so they have built up alongside the fabric of the sport and the environments I I think that's a real part of this entire conversation as well Reese I think that's a that's a fair perspective and I think there are a lot of programs that historically haven't been in the mix who you know would say well Ohio State Alabama Michigan whoever it might be of course they don't want it because Georgia they've always ruled the roost and now they won't have that you know same type of opportunity I would say they already don't have that because of the other factors that you've mentioned the player movement through the portal NIL has allowed uh recruit players and pay them and give them opportunities on the field to spread the talent out a little bit which I think that part of it's a really good thing all I'm really saying I maybe I just haven't quite yet found the way to articulate what I mean I I love the feel that we had Saturday with BYU and Notre Dame that while they had a second chance it boy it meant so so much you know and I remember a game a few years ago LSU and Alabama Joe Burrow against Tua and that did turn out to be everything now you could argue the playoff was only four then and that's too small and it meant too much and I think that's a fair take I I just I don't want to lose that because we're we're still the only sport that has that in the regular season it does stink if you're a great team like Notre Dame last year and you come up short in a couple of big games you don't make it I get that I totally understand that but I do think there's a lot of value to the popularity of the game and the intensity of the sport on a weekly basis that this might be the week that decides it all you know this might be that's still going to happen to a degree and you've made that point you made it very well it's just going to go down the chain a little a little bit farther it's going to be you know 20 versus 22 that might mean everything instead of you know six versus eight or something yeah and then seating is going to matter home playoff games are going to matter you know it's just more of an NFL mindset as opposed to what college football has always been and there will be complaining about who the 25th team is always and the 26th team and that that'll be fun because it's probably gonna be West Virginia more often than not but we're going to be in there in top five as well we got things figured out Michael Hawkins Jr. staying in West Virginia forever he has to right Reese has to that that's what we want let me can I float something to see what you guys think of it okay you're talking about the home games I really want to see the committee once we get to 24 I don't want to anybody to have to sacrifice the home game if you're in the top eight or if you're in the top 16 you stay within that group and get your home game at the round you assign but within those groups I hope the committee will move teams around and give us favorable matchups because there's not there's not a lot of difference in a team ranked 17th and 20th there's really oh my god if they start judgmenting for the game on the rankings people are going to get so mad oh so ESPN won that PC versus the big guy 10 okay so they move them from four to six that's what we're doing they will get so mad that'll avoid rematches what about to avoid rematches would you be okay then I'm I'm 100 okay with us getting the best matchups I am I would like to let it be known that me speaking into this microphone as the human that I am as a person that gets to do college game day we get to call the games we get to be a part of the everyday fabric of sports as a whole we would love if it was SEC versus Big Ten and Big Ten versus SEC different Big 12 ACC somebody has to try it out we're going to have to see if we can get it done we would love if that was what the playoff structure was I'm just telling you people are going to get pissed if they uh if they're moving around rankings to get a big game oh yeah notable game as opposed to what it's supposed to be they will get so mad but they're going to get mad anyways speaking of getting mad thank you for allowing us to do this this year we are pumped to reveal ladies and gentlemen AP voter Reece Davis has provided us with his full transparent week whatever this is top 25. BYU number one team in America holy hell how did we get here Reece Gumpy's screaming over there about you doing mad there he is okay so you got BYU at one Ohio State after a big win over Indiana even though they lose their quarterback at number three Notre Dame lost to BYU last place should have had an extra second we understand BYU great football team our number one team in the country that's why you got them at four IU suffers their first loss in forever at five that then the rest fall in there how do we make it to the end of the season we're going to have to wait and see to make these decisions recent what is everybody pissed off at you about okay Gumpy I know is mad about uh Notre Dame or uh pardon me Brigham Young in Miami I felt like that Brigham Young's win at this point was better than Miami's if Miami had really handled business against Florida State I probably would have given the Canes a nod because first draft I did have Miami number one kind of went back and forth on that so people probably a little bothered by it for disclosure they met on a neutral field and someone asked me to pick the winner I'd pick Miami but so this is a little bit of an edge and resume for BYU right now Gumpy's thankful for what you said yeah yeah I think uh I think Ohio State is more of um you know it's a tenuous hold on three uh it's sort of a placeholder right now because I do need to see what they look like at quarterback without saying I know they're talented everywhere else I need to see that but probably the thing and I actually got an email Pat and this doesn't happen to a lot of us but the people who run the poll said you are one of the ones that either has Florida unranked or ranked behind Texas are you sure that's what you meant and it was my feeling was even though I've got all kinds of questions about Texas obviously I still think that Texas probably has the best pair of wins in college football by by beating Ohio State with say in and then winning at Tennessee who's really good on the field and I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing I think that's a good thing and Florida's loss is you and Florida's loss is you and Florida's loss is you know the magnitude of the losses how know the magnitude of the losses how know the magnitude of the losses how badly they were beaten factored into badly they were beaten factored into badly they were beaten factored into that probably a few other things a lot of quarterback questions in there with injuries and so forth i'm still i love what ucla is doing still question you know their backup quarterback situation but i'm sure people are mad about a lot of things but those are the ones that have been most notable thanks for letting us put your vote out every single week it has been a massive boost for us to see how people are actually thinking that have the power to put these numbers next to these teams because in the end it will matter cfp voting is really the only thing they go for for the playoffs but they certainly watch the ap votes all year long i do like that the ap came back to your recent said hey bud they fucking played they played and uh i like that they did that i appreciate that they did that just to look out for you and i like that you stood on business for it now you know the thing we follow up every single time with your ap top 25 you're in the weeds you're deep down their boots on the ground your vote and your poll matters let's go to one that doesn't necessarily plays gentlemen oh it matters to me thank you buddy this week but nobody's looking at this and saying this team's ranked top of tones poll this team's ranked kind of off center a little bit at the bottom to the left hanging that way nobody's saying that you know so that's the reason why we don't say it's like an elite one saying that in my algorithm okay i like that your people are saying i need my algorithms get a little bit more like your algorithm that's probably some pretty funny jokes about tones poll in there i'd like to hear that but ladies and gentlemen it's time for tones above average poll byu tone can you tell us why byu sits atop your above average poll on this particular wednesday it's actually really funny because um exactly what reset is exactly what i was planning on say that on a neutral field i would probably take i know i would take miami i have them so what the hell are you guys doing dude man that's not what the pool is about okay i break it down and i build it up every single week okay byu's got the number one strength record in the country they have a much higher strength of schedule in the country than the miami hurricanes they just beat notre dame is one of the best teams in the country while the hurricanes kind of struggled with the shitty seminoles at home in two overtimes okay rivalry game it is a rivalry game so it was byu notre dame that's how they were taking that i'm just saying right now that the more impressive schedule and wins and everything that goes into doing that i'm just saying right now they're doing a rankings not a power ratings byu is at the top of the pool and then miami's right there i wrestled with it all week long and then you know i had to show some love to ucla and bob chesney who remind me very very much of the 2024 indiana hoosiers i got a question for you in reese what uh obviously you got your teams there what coach do you trust i guess from reese's top five those top five because we're at this point in the season we feel like hey those are the top five teams in the country what coach and there's two national champions that recent national champion ryan day and kurt signetti up there what coach do you trust the most sig it yeah me too i mean if you if you may i think all five of those guys are really good coaches you make me put one atop that ranking it's got to be signetti all right reese we appreciate the hell out of you we appreciate your poll we appreciate uh everything you do for college sports you're the man guys always a pleasure see you soon pat thanks guys is alabama okay oh is alabama okay they don't look like it i love that just a nice little recap penn state's not in there no they're sure not and let me let me talk about something too when it comes to ucla why is ucla number three in tone's poll and 12 in reese's poll well tone said he wanted to pay respect to bob chesney who was the 2024 indiana hoosiers but remember he's not in there he's not in there he's not in there he's not in there and i think he's got to put two things down there hanging i get that but the interesting thing about ucla right like are they for real i guess is the question they're six and oh right and tone tone loves them obviously jmu i get it he's he's a sick disciple right but coach like are they a very good football team or have they just been a product of playing better than they are against lesser what do you want me to do yeah i get that what's the organ is organ that good it's a 50 million dollar roster i guess maybe allegedly i don't know i guess your thought would be do they have enough big time players to play against the big time teams yeah for sure in the big time moments on the stretch and i think with their physicality they can neutralize a lot of that tone is that why you have them down there as the lower one on the bottom of the pole yeah it's yeah because when i think byu and miami are better teams they all have the same record but i think byu and miami are better teams i wrestled with utah down there texas tech down there they all have the same record so i think byu and miami are better teams they all have the same record so i think once you get to the playoff kind of like that iu team in 2024 i think they will be exposed but i for what they are right now and their schedule and what they've done so far i i like them a lot they play great defense they've given up 3 15 and 7 the last three weeks is on defense and they and they run the shit out of the football um so i like them but i think they probably will get exposed in the idea all right well we appreciate you guys's college polls and uh we will certainly keep an eye on them and have a nice grip and grasp on those as the season continues to unfold thank you to the college football world for being so electric and we'd also like at this time to thank the wonderful mlb hey listen you guys have had a phenomenally long and great season there's a lot of conversation about what the future is will there be a season will there not be a season who cares right now we've made it to the biggest time in the diamond ball ladies and gentlemen the world series starts on friday joining us now is a man it's probably going to win the nlc young a man who's defied physics and baseball with how damn powerful he is with that right arm he seemingly has the reach of a man who can touch home plate if he wants to it's not an elbows call on beer pong this man is just built differently he's built the hawk of baseball he's the starting pitcher for the milwaukee brewers ace in the world series ladies and gentlemen joining us the ms jacob mizorowski oh yeah thank you guys you made the world you made the world series bro here we go wow you did hey yes okay can you go back to little kid you uh in kansas i do believe probably doing the what's that missouri the other side the better side shit what what was the name of the city in missouri grain valley god so i wasn't in kansas city i couldn't even you know work my way i was trying to work my way into being right nonetheless let's go back to the kid in missouri who loved baseball fell in love with the sport i assume there was times in your mind where you say all right world series here we go i'm doing this now you're just days away from actually having to compete in a world series game the biggest of the big where are you mentally and how does it feel to be able to accomplish this alongside the boys to get to this point yeah i mean it's been awesome you know this this these guys have been nothing but the best and no there's not there's not many words i can put together to talk about it it's been awesome and it's been a dream come true skipper murphy you know he doesn't do any handshakes whenever you guys are getting introed he doesn't say it's old school baseball it's the only way to play baseball can you tell me a little bit about your culture you just said you've had such a magical run what is the culture of your clubhouse and how do you think skip is the one that kind of influences it all yeah i mean it's uh it's kind of a college mentality when it comes to how he controls the clubhouse and you know he's gonna he's gonna be the one that's gonna be stern with you but he's also gonna be your best friend when uh when the time arises so he's uh he's awesome and you know he's also crazy in a way crazy is it you your ass out no way i heard you pitchers are weird nobody's allowed to talk to you guys is that accurate no no no no all the time he he lets me hear it you know he gives everyone nicknames and you know he has fun with it so it's uh it's a different culture in there what's he call he calls you the ms he calls me i like that nice that boy was throwing you know not just running uh let's talk a little bit about how your body feels because the big conversation with how hard you throw and how fast you pitch we've never seen anything like it from a starting pitcher position how does the body feel after i don't know what 2 000 games already this season it feels it feels awesome you know it uh i can only imagine being a position player and uh playing every once in a while i don't know 62 so you know i'm lucky and i get my 30 starts in a week in between to get my body ready for it but i feel good feel ready to go last question for me before the boys have some this has been a little bit of a layoff because you guys punch your ticket to the world series before and then you have some more time in football there's always like college football there's a bye week for the teams that earn it they win a championship that has not helped them though they they've gotten it fallen into a little bit of a rust belt uh bucket how does it work with baseball whenever you get this much time especially after a long grueling season were you still pitching on schedule how have you kind of managed the time off yeah no live bps stuff like that you know against our guys so those are never fun to throw against your own teammates you know you don't want to tear anyone down or you know tear yourself down by not throwing it good enough but uh no i think the boys are ready to go you know i had an awesome week off and you know get rolling on friday so ty schmidt back in the thunderdome has a question for you ms yeah ms how i mean it's obviously going to be tough your first world series start but how are you gonna how do you plan on kind of managing your adrenaline for a game like this especially against a raised team who they're going to try to work a bunch of counts they don't strike out much and they're obviously going to try to get your pitch count up early so you can't get deep into the game like is that something you're thinking about or is it obviously very tough to do because you're going to be the game one starter for you know the the brewers in the world series yeah i mean i mean that's what every team i played this postseason's done to me you know that's the goal for every team is to get me out quick so no i mean i don't think the game plan changes any from the rays to the dodgers to the padres you know it's all the same so no i'm just i'm going out there and throwing throwing my game hoping for the best the rays and you all play a similar style and obviously with the salary cap conversations and the roster management conversations it's a beautiful thing i think you guys have brought kirk herb street back to mlb which is good he's been yearning for the day where we play good sound baseball let's get guys on you let's run them in let's get good pitch counts here let's work it it feels like you two are the same it's a celebration of the sport for you as one of the greatest pitchers of all time it'd be nice to get a little piece of information d-butt has a question for you yeah ty just kind of actually you said it's kind of the same game plan week to week but i really want to go i guess inside your mind because i know it's like a football player some quarterback say hey i gotta get hit one time i gotta get roughed around a little before i before i feel like i'm really in the game is there something for you that you need to see or feel when you really fly okay now i'm going now i'm rolling now i'm exactly where i want to be on the field yeah i need to feel the fans get into it you know that's this crowd out here in milwaukee has been been the best you know these guys these people have been getting crazy and after it every postseason outing we have and so i think that that first pitch in the warm-up of hearing the fans get after it and get out and get loud so that's that's been the big one to really lock me in so it's been fun okay locking in can't be easy you know eliminate distractors i forget what it was in the one movie uh but kickers punters golfers pitchers i mean there is a lot of people that have to be able to do this aj has a question for you about your mindset and uh how you control it all ms has uh i guess the organization maybe skipper have you guys gone through with this time off is this giving you a chance i guess to take care of some of the off the field things like managing tickets for family members friends coming out of the woodwork i know when it comes to the super bowl week for football players they're always managing and you know dealing with distractions i guess what's it been like for you so far yeah no we uh we luckily had the week off and we could take care of business outside of it we got a whole day off of not even coming into the field so we could you know handle all that stuff going outside and you know get hotel rooms tickets like you're saying so no it's it's been awesome okay ms we appreciate you joining us tell the boys we said good luck and uh we can't wait to watch you in the world series brother what is that fastest you've got to this year 105.5 jeez damn 110 that's what i'm saying world series world series with a little bit of juice you get to 106 not that we need you to throw out of your skis not that you will we can't affect anything we'll donate 106 000 to a charity of your choosing through the world series good luck out there we can't wait to watch congrats on all the success pal thank you thank you ladies and gentlemen that's the mid the real maze jacob mizorowski all right boys we are uh here in la the guys are back in uh thunderdome in dot com sports sports hell basketball it's basketball get the hell out of here well well i'm not gonna be doing that anymore okay thought we're gonna maybe lead back in here with chomps rania as he is excited about not just the nfl season that is certainly in full board or college football that is certainly magical mlb about to have the opening pitch for the world series yesterday ladies and gentlemen the nba had its 2026 season tip-off holiday and joining us now is a man who's an absolute stallion senior nba insider ladies and gentlemen sean i'm sure i am yeah choms that's your camera right there sean's big wide one there aj hawk is back in the thunderdome at baby aj see you choms i like the suit choms aj appreciate you you know i i have gotten inspired by pat when you wore a tie outdoors at byu that was inspirational okay ladies and gentlemen also back there in indianapolis uh it's a talk to table at boston corner at thai man good to see you good to see you anything you say to choms here toxic table anything you say to the lad thank you for ruining the opening hour and possibly the rest of the day um with that choms i just man i you know what no i i have nothing else to say to choms yeah i'm kind of bummed out me too oh what's going on let's go to one half of the hammer done cowboys ap town town how do you feel about choms ruining the intro to the third hour there and being proud of it i think i added to it i was gonna watch basketball before christmas this year but definitely not now what wow choms is ruining basketball and it's the entire audience aq do you think it's fair what's happening to choms right now i mean listen you got to pay attention to the first two hours and he comes in and just says sports nobody gives a shit it's football season thank you well said yep on that note good to see you choms hot start i know there is you guys just saw me yesterday i know there's a lot of magic happening around the nba big tip off day huge l on banner night for the knicks lebron james and the sixers start out with a dub paul george goes crazy for the celtics they end up losing to the stones what is the big storyline out of yesterday and what are people saying after an opening tip day for the nba that i think had a lot of conversation and conjecture i assume numbers are going to be up what should we be looking at out of yesterday choms i mean when you look at yesterday i mean obviously boston has a lot that they're still trying to sort through jason tatum tough i mean i think he even took accountability for the tough shooting stretch that he had yesterday in the game paul george shot the lights out we'll see how often he's able to get hot like that moving forward boston's going to be better but you know i look at inside you know mitchell robinson at the five position i don't know how much you know he has room for improvement obviously he said he you know quote unquote uh got his ass kicked on the on the ground and he's not going to be able to do anything he's going to be able to do anything i think we can score swear now we're on we're on the youtube you can say ass anytime you're an adult okay you're allowed to say ass because that's a donkey i believe a donkey is an ass yeah that's right that is a technical term just like hell is a place so these are things you can certainly go with but old buddy said he got his ass kicked is what you're saying but detroit i think you have to give them credit the way they came out second half they they they brought it and i think there's been concern around the league do they have enough around kade cunningham do i do they have enough they had javante green come off the bench play well and then the second game to me i i went into philadelphia's season thinking okay you have five guys that need the ball in their hands who's going to sacrifice where the role is going to be and clearly listen Tyrese Maxey Jalen Brown from a scoring from a responsibility perspective they're going to have it and then from there I think LeBron James picking and choosing his spots he had almost triple double you have Joel Embiid saying after the game he wants to be an all defensive caliber player like that's a mindset shift for him and then Vijay Edgecombe just does a little bit of everything I think that's going to be a great game rivalry all season Philly and New York and then as far as the late game I mean you just look at Oklahoma City I think back to last year they took San Antonio to seven games I say they took San Antonio seven seven games because they were down Jalen Williams they were down AJ Mitchell and Chet Holmgren by the end of that series I think he took a total of three shots in that game seven against San Antonio so you saw an OKC team that was healthy and Chet Holmgren who was you could just tell way more aggressive way more assertive and I think that's what his own health and everyone on that roster's health is going to be very very key and important fun win for SGA as he continues to put up monstrous numbers and be unguardable seemingly when B starts his season with an L and a little bit of a scuff of a pump for what this year could be for the San Antonio Spurs Oklahoma City the Pacers are tonight on the zone did you hear what the commissioner had to say about Tyrese maybe earning his way back to ESPN uh Shams I did hear what Adam Silver had to hear but I uh what shot like really uh okay let's not talk about Tyrese and which topic really uh Tyrese is a big time comeback season obviously yeah do you guys care though I haven't seen a lot of tweets saying breaking a man who's going to score 70 points in game seven of the NBA finals has returned after an insert number of days layoff have I seen that from you yet or no I think they are all I think they're on national TV in the next week in the next week in the next week they're happy to hear that guy was going to score 70 in game seven of the NBA finals and I think they're Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Yeah. In Game 7, that would have been definitely the best Finals performance of all time. By far. We know. That's what we're all saying. So you guys, you, I heard, say put him on the zone for his opener against the Pelicans. I think you've really inspired and motivated and already inspired and motivated Tyrese Halliburton. So we don't have to dive into the Pacers. He's locked in. And I do think when you think about them, they are, when I talk to teams, they look at Indiana as a team. You know, everyone talks about New York, Philadelphia. You have to talk so about Boston, Cleveland. They made it to the Conference Finals. And then here you have Tyrese Halliburton on his way back. He looked really, really good in preseason. And Zubach, you have him now. And obviously the Pacers believing him hopefully is an upgrade for them. They lost Miles Turner. And then you get Kelly Oubre coming off the bench. That was also a low-key underrated signing for them. In free agency to bring some scoring and some offense. So I think around the league, teams know how potent Indiana is going to be. Okay, good. I'm happy to hear that. Let's make sure we're still reporting that as if the league does know that because fans would like to hear that, I think. You know, fans would like to hear that Tyrese Halliburton is supposed to be on the zone against the Pelicans in his return after having a 70-point game in Game 7 of the Finals. Now, there is some hubbub about potential movement already, Shams. Is that accurate? The NBA is already off and cooking. What are you hearing about potential Golden State being in the market quickly here? Yeah, there is developing news in the lead-up to the NBA season with one of the marquee teams tonight. That's the Golden State Warriors. And sources tell me that the Warriors are actually already starting to explore trade routes for Kristaps Porzingis, who is out indefinitely as he's dealing with reoccurring bouts of an autoimmune issue. And I'm told he's at the point now where he is seriously contemplating his basketball future and where that could go. And the reality is if there's not a breakthrough with his health, with his recovery, the Warriors are certainly bracing for the possibility that he steps away from basketball for good. And that's moving forward. He's dealt with a lot of health issues over the course of his career, mostly injuries, right? We know even on the run to the NBA Finals with the Celtics, where B.C.'s Celtics won the title in 2024. He played with a torn tendon injury in his foot, and he played through it. And then at the tail end of the 2024-25 season, he started to deal with illness that he disclosed a year ago was POTS. And so this is a delicate, obviously, health issue that he's dealing with now. The Warriors are being as supportive as they possibly can be. But he's got a $20 million expiring contract that they can use now to possibly upgrade their team. $3 million partial guaranteed on his $20 million next year. So basically, he's an expiring contract that you can go out there to try to better your team. And so you look at the Warriors now, Pat, they're down Porzingis, they're down Jimmy Butler, they're down Moses Moody, around Steph Curry and Draymond Green. That's $90 million in salary that's going to be out for either the significant part of the year or potentially all season. And the Goldens, first of all, Porzingis, I don't know, we've never heard of POTS. We hope you're okay. This has been lingering for a long time. That has to be an incredibly scary thing. And anytime you're talking autoimmune stuff, I think we've all been taught to know that that's not great at all. Golden State was in the market for LeBron James. Is that accurate? So that felt like a pipe dream at the time. Now they have the amount of injuries. What does Golden State Warriors outlook look for the year? Is Steph Curry going to be on the move or is that something that's impossible at this point? Steph Curry will never be on the move. Steph Curry will be retiring at Golden State Warriors. Whether he's playing 19 years, 20 seasons in the NBA, he's going to be there for life. He actually just signed. A new contract extension, so he's on a contract for this season, next season, I think he's got a grand total of three years left on his deal, so he's good to go moving forward. But I think this is a Warriors team that has to find ways if you're going to upgrade. The problem is, is it is a veteran-laden team. So how much are you willing to mortgage the guys that you have now with the assets and what's kind of the risk-reward, right? Like if you're going to use Kristaps Porzingis' $20 million salary in the marketplace. Where do you want to go? Where are you going to go get a player that's that much of a difference-maker where you're going to deal with potentially losing a first-round pick or two first-round picks? Is there another trade you can make where you could possibly move out second-round picks? These are all machinations that I think the Warriors are going through internally right now. Okay, so the Golden State Warriors are in the middle of having to make some decisions. Feels like the NBA is off to an incredibly hot start. You're in a sweet pinstripe suit, and tonight the Indiana Pacers kick off their season. The NBA is a buzz. We appreciate the hell out of you, Shams. You're the man. Appreciate you guys. That's Shams Sharaim. Way to go, sports. Now, ladies and gentlemen, let's go ahead and head over to Darius J. Butler here. Let's head over to Darius J. Butler here. Here we go. Head over to the situational report here. Yeah. Let's head over to the situational report here. Put me back on there. Well done, boys. Here we go. Looking good. Today's situational report. Today's situational report will be CJ Stratton. What? Easy for you to say. I mean, it's tough. I'll tell you what. Out here, Dan, just hearing yourself out here talking, it is weird, but this picture is cool, and so is this telestrator. Let's get to the tape. CJ Stratton, 24 for 34, 312, three TDs, and one interception. You'll see his safeties here rotating down. You talk about simple quarterback play. It's not all the downfield 40-yard throws. Sometimes it's just big-time throws, and they're simple throws. Check down almost to Jalen Noel. Quarter, quarter, half. He's going to be isolated in the quarter's coverage with that linebacker. Linebacker's trying to keep leverage on him. Nope. Get him across. Make the throw, and then wide receiver. New wide receiver, Marvin Harrison, Jr., making a big-time block to get him 20 more yards after his catch. So you give him a runner's ball. It's a great route, and Jalen Noel had a big-time game against the Jacksonville Jaguars to help them get over the hump. Let's get to play number two. Talking about the new arrival, Marvin Harrison, Jr. He's up at the top, but right here, we got a nickel blitz, and sometimes you can see that by the safety. He's stacked behind him. That nickel's going to blitz free. You got Marvin Harrison running almost like a bang gate or a dig route, and C.J. Stroud does a great job with the nickel bearing down on him, giving him a low ball, kind of protecting his wide receiver, and Marvin Harrison, Jr. making a tough catch down there. Now to the next play. Oh, this is a beautiful touchdown. Oh, it's a beauty! You see the bunch route. It's a single high coverage, cover three. That's the nickel right there, Jordan Lewis. He's a flat defender. And you draw this up because, look, we're used to just guarding flat routes, a little check down route, hook route, sit there, boom, nope, little pivot, go up the sideline, another absolute dot to walk into the end zone. And then you get to the chunk plays, the big time down the field throws. Nico Collins, still the number one wide receiver out there. Single high, slot formation. You know you got a one-on-one outside with him and Travis Hunter. Look, Travis Hunter's a great athlete. When you're a great athlete playing quarterback, you want to get that ball, so those double moves, you might bite him a little bit because you have those ball skills to make big-time plays. And it's a big-time throw from C.J. Stroud down there to his number one wide receiver. And then the last big-time throw on this tape, cornerback, you got quarters coverage once again. It's a quarters beating route. So that number two wide receiver is going to run like a deep inside, and that's going to hold that quarter safety, which leaves that cornerback outside leverage on the wide receiver. And once again, Jalen Noel using that big-time speed. Down the field, C.J. Stroud spots the coverage, sees the route, and it's throw. I mean, this throw is unbelievable. You can see it from the wide copy, but if we have this tight copy in the replay, to me, probably the best throw of the year right now. You see the defender in C.J. Stroud's face all over his arm, couldn't step into it, so just had to flick this thing and hit this Jalen Noel all the way down the field in stride. Unbelievable throw. Big-time plays by big-time players. C.J. Stroud, he was the situational report this week. Hey, D-Buds, great work, D-Buds. D-Buds, D-Buds, D-Buds, D-Buds, D-Buds, D-Buds, D-Buds. If you want to track it, track it, track it, track it, track it, track it. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. You never beat it. You never caught up to it. Not one time it beat you over here. Thanks, Joe. Stay baller. D-Buds, D-Buds. Good move, Bunchy. I like that. Target hourglass over. That's all right. The sands of time. Thank you for doing that. He's got no ears. They said good job. They said good job. They said really good. You did great. Thank you, boys. They said that was a situational report. If they were giving it a report card, they'd give it an A+. You know what? I was watching yours earlier. Yeah. And we did it. You know, obviously, we're out here. Beautiful logo, by the way. Unbelievable. We talked about it. Unbelievable logo. I didn't know when we built this spotlight like that, it was going to be dark everywhere else. It's black, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think we kind of learned going forward that we don't need to black out the rest of the image for everything. But on the screen, it looks differently. And I will say this. The, um. The. This is a pretty cool little thing here. It's a little fat. Yeah, it's a little faster than it looks. Oh. A little preset. Nice. Tracks well. Can you hit 17 on that side? On the thing over there? Oh, no. Actually, Diddy, Diddy, can you hit that? Diddy, 17. There it goes. There it goes. 17. 38. 38. 8 and 8. You guys nailed it. Where the hell is 17? Absolutely nailed it. It's in here. It's presets. I don't think everyone got it. That would have been really difficult, to be honest, because you've got to be on two to get on to that. If you're on anything else, you're on these other ones. Guy's name is Diddy. Okay, I heard you guys do your jokes. What do you want me to do? What's this guy's name? We're in Los Angeles. Guy's name is Diddy. I didn't know they let him out. He only has one name. He doesn't have any other name. I believe that's been this guy's nickname his entire life. It's nice of you to hire him after he got out. I didn't hire him. I didn't hire him. He was not in jail. This guy was not in jail ever. He's an upstanding citizen. Real name's Sean. No, that is not what he's doing. That is not what his name is. Last name Combs, right? No, that's not who we're working with here. But he's great at his job. He's really helped us out today. We're very thankful for Diddy here. I don't think his name is Sean or Jeffrey or any of the other names that are potentially trigger names in that particular aspect of the world. Jerry Sandusky was actually a commentator in Baltimore. You remember that? Wasn't that the commentator? He's trying to get up. Oh, yeah. Tough to have some names. You live good for a long time on those names. He walked into a place and be like, what's your name? Be like, Diddy. That's a cool name. He's like, very good, yeah. Now he walks in and he goes, my name's Diddy. It's not his fault. He's done nothing wrong. It's literally his name. He's a new nickname. He's a new nickname. He's in the world that he's in. He's great at his job. He's really good at his job. He's been very nice to us, so we're very thankful. He's worked multiple times this year. Hey, Diddy, be proud of yourself, man. Don't worry about what some other Diddy's doing. Because there's a little Diddy. My Jackie Dianna. Two American kids growing up in a hot land. Jackie gonna be a football star. Yeah. Oh, but he doesn't die. You don't know this one? Do you have to do? Yeah. Take a deep bus. No, I'm waiting for you. This is John Mellencamp, right? Cooks. This is cool. I hate the human, but he does have a couple of good songs. A few angers. He has a couple of good songs. I would hate to be in the same area as him. He would take up a very little amount of space, though. I mean, just like kind of one of those little names. One of his little gnomes, he just kind of put out there. That's like the amount of space. But boy, he could fucking make a bank. That's right. He wouldn't stand for anything either. Yeah, but then he would actually for stuff. It's just he's an interesting guy. He's an artist, isn't he? He's just a little artist. He's a little artist with a lot of talent. It do be like that sometimes. Ladies and gentlemen, we've had our situation report. We've had an incredible Walt Wednesday. We've sang a little bit. We got a new logo. We got a new logo. Beautiful. Beautiful. Which is really cool. We're going to go run with this for a while. Shout to Bone. Make it a nice L.A. morning nights type feel. I think we're going to put this on some shirts. Okay. I think we're going to put this on some shirts so we can wear it. Ladies and gentlemen, let's head over for the top five offensive lines in the NFL. Okay. Here we go. There it is. Coming on week six of the NFL season. Is that Bigfoot? Pulling down. Very casual. You look very casual there. Good job by you, AQ, I would say. AQ, these top five offensive lines every week tell us what teams could potentially win it all with the big guys. Coming out of week six, who do you feel is the top five offensive lines in the NFL? Let's start with number five, AQ. Congratulations to. The Buffalo Bills. The Buffalo Bills. Oh, man. Buffalo Bills. I mean, they had Max Crosby and a really good defense on the other side. I think the Raiders are playing much better than people thought this year, but again, we're always going to start with these tight ends. Joe Brady loves his tight end personnel. We actually are in 13 personnel. There's one split out wide, but we got Jackson Hawes and we got Knox right there. And so then if you look at the back side, look at Alec Anderson. This guy's filled in at left guard. Unbelievable. Great job on the back side. Then on the front side. There you go. We got Knox at the second level. We got Jackson Hawes right there. Both of them are right there. You got. Look at Osiris Torrance right here. And then big Spencer Brown does a great job. All got leverage front side. James Cook, wheels, rides the wave. Unbelievable job in the run game. Love the Buffalo Bills. Love the spotlight on Spencer Brown. He's very big, very strong, very tall, and I think he likes our program. So yeah, let's continue to keep him on our side. I think the Buffalo Bills' offensive line in general likes the program. I mean, they love seeing them in the top five almost every week last year. Yeah, it feels like they're trying to earn it with the way they play. Josh Allen's a freak show. So is the offensive line. James Cook can cook if he hangs onto the rock the rest of the year, which I think he will. He's been called out publicly by a lot of people for that. The Buffalo Bills' offense continues to go. Who's the number four offensive line coming out of week six of the NFL season? San Francisco 49ers. There's not much that needs to be said here. You guys talked about it on the broadcast, and Trent Williams by far has been the most elite offensive lineman in the league through the first six weeks. Let's get a spotlight on him as he caves the entire Washington Commanders defensive line out on one side. He has played fantastic all game long. He's so powerful. He's so big. He's the best lineman of this era, and then he just takes 98 for a ride and just caves in the whole side. You get the tight end helping as he climbs. And then boom. Just run right through Christian McCaffrey, but look what he does. Just takes him, hits the hip, drives him all the way across to the other side of where the center snapped the ball and finishes on top. He's unbelievable. Hey, D-Butt, when we were there watching that game, boots on the ground, field pass on ESPN2, thank you all for allowing us to do that and for watching along. We're honored to be there. The physicality of these teams is real. That Niners team built on toughness, Trent Williams even told us. Yeah, built on violence, built on toughness, and we kind of got some behind the scenes of how hard their training camps are, how tough, how hard they practice. You saw Fred Warren. It was some flags that were picked up. He toes the line, as Bill Coward would say. He toes the line, and everybody on that defense flies around, but it starts with that offensive line as well, those trenches. They can always run the ball, and Christian McCaffrey, he's a force as well. Congratulations to the Niners, number four offensive line coming out of week six of the NFL season. Who's the number three offensive lineman, A.Q. Shipley? The Kansas City Chiefs! Yeah! Yeah! Listen, the Kansas City Chiefs have been fantastic all year long, listen, and they are playing with backup linemen in multiple places almost every single week, but when you look at them, it always starts with Trey Smith. He is one of the top three right guards in the league, I think probably top two between him and Quinn Miners of the Broncos. They're going to run power lead. We're going to run counter back to the tight end. Who's that highlighted? Khalil Mack, right? This is one of the biggest collisions I've seen in an NFL football game in a long time. You get good on good. He's going to pull across. The motion brings across. We got in our sights. Trey Smith. Boom! Khalil Mack, and then finish on top as he finishes K-9 through the hole as he walks into the end zone. Unbelievable pickup with Kenneth Walker has been fantastic, but watch this collision one more time as Trey Smith, when he pulls and Khalil Mack down. Look at that. That is a train wreck. They both felt that the next day, but then he has the ability to then finish and put Khalil Mack on his head. Kenneth Walker, massive, massive play for the Kansas City Chiefs. That's right. That's right. The Kansas City Chiefs this year, they've been focused on him becoming a focal point of their offense. It certainly paid off. Hembo has a bunch of stats on Kenneth Walker being the best player and best running back in football right now. What are your thoughts on it? I mean, absolutely. Dan O said it. I think Jim Nant said he would be their MVP pick right now, and it's hard to argue with him. I got a question for AQ, though, because the run game has been what the run game has been for the Chiefs. Have they changed the scheme for Kenneth Walker, or is he just, obviously, you put a dynamic player next? I know he's at the top of the league by a wide margin. Breaking tackles as well. But is it the same scheme, and just K-9 is the difference? Same scheme, K-9 is the difference, but the other thing is Andy Reid is calling him more. That's the thing, right? The enemy comes back into town. They're leaning a little heavier. Obviously, they made a big investment in a running back for the first time probably since Andy Reid had LaShawn McCoy, right? Yep. So now you get Kenneth Walker into town. You make a big investment. You pay him $45 million, right? You're going to get your investment out of them. And so they've done a better job calling it, and that has only opened up. They haven't hit the chunks yet. They don't have the guys to hit the chunks down the field, but it has opened up the play-action pass to Kelsey and to the underneath routes, and then you keep hammering the run game. They've been fantastic over 100 yards in almost every game. A.J., Khalil Mack, how's he feeling after that Trey Smith stalemate at the line of scrimmage as they give up a touchdown there? Well, that was such a wild – if you see Khalil Mack, you can kind of tell he had an idea that was coming. He goes right down the line. This is a nasty collision. I mean, Khalil kind of gets the best of it early on, and credit to both these guys fighting through. Watch the little whoop-de-woo flip going on at the very end, how they ended it. I loved it. But you could tell Khalil was waiting for that. He knew, like, okay, here we go. This is my time. And I'll tell you what, this is a pretty good stalemate, so this is a good win for both guys, honestly. Remember, Travis Kelsey told us on the New Heights podcast that since BNME had gotten there all through spring, the only thing that has been repeated is run through a motherfucker's face. And they've certainly been doing that. We like that here on In the Trenches. Let's find out who the number two offensive line is coming out of week six of the NFL season. Congratulations to the Carolina Panthers. Wow. Wow. That's a good football team. That is a good football team, and I'm glad you said that, and I'm glad you recognized. Because number nine has been fantastic this year, but so has Hubbard, right? Let's talk about these two right here. You've got Rob Hunt. I know Gumpy's pissed that they let him out of Miami. Absolute stud. Paid him a ton of money, him and Damian Lewis, a couple years ago. You've got a great combo. You've got Luke Fortner up at the second level. Does a great job. We get Moten. That's the guy that we were talking about earlier with the blood clots. He gets up on bond, creates it. But everybody's got leverage. We're putting people on their backs. Look at that. And Chuba Hubbard, unbelievable. Does a great job. Okay, so they're actually a good football team. They have a chance to be a great football team down there, and the offensive line is normally a good indicator of that. And they're missing their starting left tackle. They call him Big Icky out of NC State, former first-round pick, right? They bring in Rasheed Walker, comes over from the Green Bay Packers. So they're playing really with a backup left tackle. The rest of those guys are really good football players. Bryce Young has been fantastic. Hubbard, fantastic. And then T-Mac's been fantastic as well. Who's the offensive line coach down there? Harold Goodwin's the run game coordinator. Joe Gilbert, who you guys all know very well from our time in Indianapolis, is the offensive line coach as well. Okay, so is this a biased thing because you're friends with these guys? I mean, you tell me. Look at what Hubbard did this week. You tell me if it's biased. 130 yards rushing against a Philadelphia Eagles defense. It got studs all over the place. I mean, unbelievable job running the ball. And they're a physical group up front. And they're doing all the right things. They're covering people up in the zone game. They're running the duo scheme. They're covering people up. They're moving people off the ball. You've got to love this Carolina Panthers team. You certainly do. And I do like, you know, Big Goody. And I love, love Big Gilbert. I mean, I do. And there's bars in Charlotte that have sent us T-shirts. And Morgan's been good to us. And Canal is obviously magic. And the owner, Tepper, has been more hands-off. Con, man, it feels like AQ is not just doing this for bias reasons so that he gets a text saying thank you for that. Carolina Panthers might just be a great football team right now, Con, man. Yeah, absolutely. And a lot of people will say, well, you know, the Panthers played Tanner McKee in the Philadelphia Eagles and a backup quarterback and all that stuff's going on in Philly. But it's more so like, sure, that's true. But the Panthers in previous years would lose a game like that. And now they're winning the ones that they're supposed to win. It does feel like it's a completely new era in Carolina. And Bryce Young's one of those young guys that's kind of taken the league over. Him and Ted are one of the best combos as far as QB wide receivers go now. And they got this offensive line. And Chuba Hubbard, I look out. A little bit of a shocker here. I'll tell you, congrats to the Bills, the Niners, the Chiefs, and the Panthers as the five through two rankings of the offensive line coming out of week six of the NFL season. There it is. A shock at number one. Ladies and gentlemen, the number one offensive line in the NFL after week six of the NFL season, as said by In the Trenches' A.Q. Shipley, the New Orleans Saints. Wow. What? Yeah. Congrats to the Saints. Okay, A.Q., riddle me this, pal. Yeah, riddle me this. Riddle me this is right. Listen, week six, this is a week-to-week ranking. Remember that. They ran for over 100 yards. They got a three-headed monster down there at running backs. But listen, David Edwards comes over from the, who Alec Anderson, who I mentioned earlier, replaced to the Bills. Huge free agent signing at left guard for the Saints. And then they're missing their left tackle, Kelvin Banks, who's a former first-round pick out of Texas. They got a Seam Richards in there. Watch this combo block here. This is called split zone. And then we get the tight end going back. Here was the F tight end. He's going to go back. You get a huge, big, gaping hole on the back side. You get that split zone. He sticks his face in there on the DB, and you end up having that huge hole to run through. Thank you so much, A.Q. That's great work over there. Thank you, A.Q. That's really good, A.Q. You should be incredibly proud of yourself. I think the top five offensive lines should be pumped about what they've done. The Bills, the Niners, the Chiefs, the Panthers, and the Saints round out the top five offensive lines. Did not expect the Saints to do that. I'm going to be honest. I did not expect the Saints to be on there. But instead, we have a new leader in the club. We have a new clubhouse as we went in the trenches. Now, ladies and gentlemen, it is time to hold on. Let me get this back here. Saints are a good football team, too. Tyler Schock, not a bad player. Two and four. They're not a good football team yet. They're going to get there. Watch out, though. They might be a really, really good football team. Let's not dismiss them yet, okay? Let's go. Ladies and gentlemen, it's time to our Good D, Everything DB with Darius James. Hey, Butler. Hey, D-Bart. Super smooth. Yeah, a lot of catch-up to you there, D-Bart. Let me know if it's casual or not. It was super casual. That was good. That was good. That was good. Super casual. Welcome back. That good D. Yeah. With me. Boom. Here we go. Game winner, Denver. Overtime pick against Sam Donner. Look, Jackson Smith and Jigba raining off as a player here. They cloud coverage all day long against them. But watch this, this guy. Nickel, safety corner. You see where they're at line right now. After the motion, once the routes start to develop, McMillan, watch him lined up as a nickel, looking like he may be seeing flat. Nope, he's going to drop back and be the deep half defender. And Sam Donner never sees him. Tries to hit the whole shot up the rail right beyond the corner. He gets over the top and does a tremendous job creating his turnover. I feel like McMillan always has these timely interceptions. We remember the big one against Josh Allen in the playoffs last year. Everybody talked about was it a pick? Was it an incomplete pass? This is a big-time, game-winning interception right here for the Denver Broncos and Jaquan McMillan. Hey, hold on. Let's talk a little bit about this Broncos team. Offensively, they've been terrible. Defense, still good, even though they're banged up. AQ, can you win a Super Bowl like that, or is this offense going to have to get going? The offense has to get going. They've got to get a run game. I love some of the guys on their offensive line. I think Quinn Miners, Garrett Bowles, I think McGlinchey, all good pass protectors. They've got to get the run game going. It's crazy that it's just a simple offensive run scheme. They just cannot get going. They're just running inside zone, handoffs, nothing crazy, no scheme. When it comes to motion, you see all the other stuff, but defensively, dogs everywhere. D-Bite, you love them. You love that Broncos defense. They're going to have to do it for them. I love them, and it always starts in the trenches. It always starts up front. They're getting some guys back when it comes to up front, the pass rushers. And then on the back end, that marries up with the coverage on the back end. We know Patrick Sertan, one-time defensive player of the year, one of the best cornerbacks in the league. Once he's back out there healthy and full goal, Riley Moss is pretty good. They've got good DBs. They've got good linebackers. They've got a good front and a great defensive coordinator as well. So I don't think with how the offense is playing right now in this league, no, you're not going to go and beat those big-time AFC quarterbacks in the playoffs. So they've definitely got to pick it up on the offensive side of the ball. But this defense, I think, especially once they get clicking at the end of the season, could be a Super Bowl-caliber defense for sure. That's good D, they say, AQ. Absolutely slinging it, Ron. Slinging it. Slinging it. That's the people's elbow. That's it. That's right. Got his money back. Yes, he did. Because remember, the way that was explained is view this entire thing as the rock. That's right. And then view this as his elbow. So you didn't get to run the ropes or whatever, but I did. Boom, and then the rock hits the ground, and then the elbow flops right there at the end. Bang. It all made sense whenever you heard about it. It sure did. That was a good appeal process. I like that. That's a good Democratic standpoint, I believe. That's right. Votes were in. Excuses were heard, and inevitably, the guys got their money back. Did you feel like the NFL was just trying to tell the boys, hey, stop? It did feel like that. It certainly did. And then they took all the money back, and they didn't fine them. They didn't keep the fines. So it was just them saying, like, hey, we could if we wanted to. Do you think that's what they were? Hey, cut the antics. Enough with the dongs and the guns. Do you think they told them that, Pat? Do you think they said, hey, we'll take your money back this time, but don't be flopping your dong out again? They said, this isn't banana ball. This isn't banana ball, okay? Put your penis away. That does not happen. That does not happen in banana ball. Just so we understand. They might have said, I don't know. That has never happened. Check the tapes. I have. I've been to a game. It does not happen. If you want to go to a Savannah baseball game, it is a family-friendly environment. There will be nobody pulling any appendages out. They will just be playing baseball in a fun way, and Ty knows that. Ty knows that, and he agrees with that. I don't know about that, because, again, you've got to check the tapes. You've really got to comb through them. I get sent so much stuff. on Banana Ball because, yeah, I'm not their number one fan, and quite frankly, I've been disgusted with what I've seen. No, it is a great time. You should go to a Savannah Banana baseball game. Ty is not the demo. He still is yet to get that, but it might be our only baseball after this World Series ends, so let's enjoy it all. Let's get off baseball and let's go back to that good heavy D with Dennis J. Butler. Going from a team, you asked about the Broncos defense. Could they carry to the Super Bowl with their offense? No, I don't think so right now, but the team right now who was in the Super Bowl last year, I think this defense can get clicking and can get to a point. Charles Woods, corner down at the bottom of the screen. It's going to be a five-man pressure, single high safety, three underneath, three deep coverage, and right now the Jets are trying to take a shot to their first-round pick tight end down the field, and I want you to watch this young cornerback, one of half the talks table. Boston Conner loves this guy, but watch him. It's very, very, very dark down here, so you can barely see him, but three underneath, those are the defenders. He's a deep corner, and just watch him play this. Get his head around. AJ, you know how tough this is, and track this football and make a big-time play, big-time interception right here. It's a 10-point game early in the fourth quarter, so if the Jets drive down and get a score here, it becomes a much closer game with how the offense is playing. If the defense can't continue to play well, this Patriot team can be right back in 100 things down the stretch. Big-time play by Charles Woods. AJ, tell me about the head swivel. Look at that. I mean, he might as well be blindfolded, too, with how dark it is. He's in that area of the field, but yeah, look at if I can find to pick him up. Once you get in the hip, that's when you got to turn that head around. Obviously, D-Butt, right? Once you're in there, you tell little kids, okay, here we go, and bam. I mean, he was already in front of him, though, too. I think it takes a lot of confidence. It takes balls to actually do that. I know D-Butt cannot hear me right now, obviously, but it takes a lot of confidence to get your head swiveled back and go actually locate the ball and not have a. A lot of guys get worried when they turn their head around. It's very scary to even lose that ball, like side of that ball, for a quarter of a second when you're getting that head around. A lot of us at home, you'll be, hey, D-Butt, turn your head around. Get your head around. My mom, watching my games in high school, college, pro, she'll be, hey, why didn't you turn your head around? That's a very difficult position, especially with a guy like Sadiq the Freak running down, but that's a great job by Woods keeping his leverage. I hate when I see DBs or linebackers have leverage and then get beat to that leverage. If they beat you inside when you have outside leverage, okay, that's part of the call, or opposite. Right there, played the down, played the defense perfectly, loved it. Talk about playing defense perfectly. Jalen Ramsey, he's kind of a safety nickel guy now, not that outside corner you put on the island anymore. This is the pre-snap disguise. You got a safety down to the left, safety in the middle of the field. Jalen Ramsey, this is one of the first passes the Bucs tried to make. Blitz this nickel off the safety, and then they're going to come back to this late. Jalen Ramsey, ten tackles, four TFLs, and this is the first of two big-time sacks there. Started with the pre-snap disguise, timed it up perfectly off the edge, and we know once five gets back there, he's going to get that quarterback down, even with that cast on his hand. Big-time play by five. Huge play. He'd go on to win the game at the end. Jalen Ramsey would get home, he'd take his helmet off and celebrate. Tone, we love Jalen Ramsey on that defense. Feels like he's meant to be a Pittsburgh Steeler. Yeah, he's been awesome. Obviously, when we brought him in, you know, he thought he was going to play corner, but then with some injuries, Deshaun Elliott's been out for the entire season, and even last year, there was injuries, and he moved to the safety spot and has played extremely well, and he's been an emotional leader on that defense. Kind of something we were missing and then playing with the broken wrist for the last few weeks and doing this and not complaining at all. He's been awesome on the defense side of the ball. Yeah, he's a stud, absolutely. Go ahead, D-Bud. He's been great mindset-wise, and you talk about injuries, obviously it's a tough physical, violent game, so anytime a guy's gutting through injuries and not just playing, but playing well, you love that. And this is the game winner. You saw the earlier one, and this is a repeat lead. You're going to come back to the plays and the schemes that work. Jalen Ramsey, once again, fourth and eighth game on the line. You're going to drop some big guys out. Cam Hayward, Herbig in the middle, they're going to drop out, and you're going to get a free hitter once again off the edge from Jalen Ramsey. Times it up perfectly with the motion. Boom! Get him down. I love when I blitz DBs. Patrick Graham, you're blitzing an athletic DB when you have an athletic quarterback back there, because a lot of times you'll see linebackers or defensive and they get back there, they get juked, lose, contain. So five, big-time play, take the hammer off. Classic Jalen Ramsey and Patrick Graham dialing it up for the game winner. Congratulations to Jalen and the Steelers getting the win there, but also Jalen Ramsey, AFC Defensive Player of the Week. Congratulations to Jalen. He gets a game-winning sack, had another one on the board. Julius Chestnut running back for Tennessee is the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. CJ Stroud, who we highlighted earlier in the situational report, gets the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, and then on the NFC side, Chad Ryland goes six for six. Congratulations to the Cardinals. Martin Emerson there of the New Orleans Saints. Not a member of the offensive line, but the Saints playing good football down there. And then Caleb Wilhams on his return. Starts out that game 10-for-10 with two touchdown drives and a touchdown pass. He goes absolutely crazy for over.300 in his return from a grade-two hamstring strain. Ty Schmidt, what do you see from the players of the week? What do you like? What do you hate, pal? The Chad Ryland thing, because the first thing I think of when I think of Chad Ryland is Connor basically, you know, loving this guy because he pretty much single-handedly was the reason that they got Drake May. And I'll tell you what, this Arizona Cardinals team is still frisky, and if they're going to go out there and their offense is going to kind of sputter and Chad Ryland's going to drill six field goals and ensure that they have more wins at SoFi than the Rams and the Chargers combined, I'll tell you what, you know, I feel like the Cardinals are kind of one of those teams where week in, week out, it's maybe you're back in on them. And then the next week, they look like shit, and you're maybe out on them. But I mean, AQ knows, and I saw AQ getting fired up in the booth from that video when they won this game. So, good on Chad Ryland, good on the Cardinals for getting a huge win. Yeah, Chad Ryland goes six for six, ends up beating the Los Angeles Rams with his right foot. He's a terp, you know, Scott Van Pelt shouted him out a lot. There's AQ Shipley on the far side. Arizona Cardinals about to beat the Los Angeles Rams. Nobody thought that was completely possible, especially if you have no touchdowns and your kicker's the only one to score. Set it hot! Great hold. Great kick. AQ Shipley gives a pat on the thing. That's what we do here. That's what we do. You're a play-by-play guy. He's a great man. We love him. His name is J.P. Shadrick. He's awesome. I mean, he's awesome. Great voice. Great voice. You've fallen in love here with the Arizona Cardinal color commentator position. Feels like you really enjoy this Cardinals team. Well, I do enjoy calling games. I really do. It's no different than me being up there in front of the telestrator, you know? Talking ball. Talking ball. And it's seeing it live. I do enjoy doing that. Now, it was a lot more enjoyable this week calling a win. A lot more enjoyable. Much better calling that instead of being down 45-14. Yeah, last year had a lot of L's. We spotlighted C.J. Stroud in a situation report. Caleb Williams also gets on the board here for the Players of the Week. What do you see from the quarterback position here that maybe tells us our initial reports of these people might not be right? I like guys playing on time. On time within the scheme. And you're talking about a number one overall draft pick and a number two overall draft pick. So two extremely talented quarterbacks that can make splash plays. That can do things, you know, with their leg or with their arms. But those are the times that you want to maybe a handful of times per game. You know, four or five times where you do something just completely off the script. But within this game planet, he was 24 from 24 from a clean pocket. A lot of people now are saying oh, it was a bunch of checkdowns. Sometimes that's what you want. If that's what the defense is giving you. I think Steve Young said, hey, you should wake up being 15 to 30, you know, easy just based on what the defense is giving you. He made some throws and then you see him rolling out and throwing it back across the body for that touchdown. Those are the plays where it's like, okay that's why. And that throw to Roman Dunes as well. That's why guys are number one overall pick. But more times than not you want a quarterback playing within the system making the right plays. And that's what both of these guys did in the AFC and NFC was Caleb Williams and CJ Stroup. AFC special teams player of the week, Julius Chestnut. He blocks punt, takes crib. He beats Indianapolis Colts. That's fun. Connor? Yeah, it is fun, but what's more fun is the changes that come after it. Because now we are on a new route and a new projection inside of Indianapolis. Hey, don't call me the S.O.R. I don't let that guy through. Enrique Bartos Sanchez phenomenal punter for us. Long time. He's been through a lot. I think he had cancer at one point or cancer scare. I think he tore his Achilles maybe at one point or something like that. Now he gets absolutely blown up without even knowing it. We lose to the Tennessee Titans as Chestnut gets the block in. Now they got players of the week and we got no general manager. Have you ever been in that position right there? I know you've got a punt blocked obviously, but like just mid-air just. Yeah, so Houston guy got me. Bronner? Yeah, rest in peace Bronman. Yeah, Bronman there. He was a problem. Yeah, he didn't. Yeah. The ones where they get you where you're full swinging at it is the worst because leg speed is something that every kicker and punter has and he just. He just. That's not fun. I'm happy he didn't get caught on the ground so he can get twisted, but yeah, that's not a fun experience. We have signed Thomas Morstead to be a punter for the Colts. He taught me how to punt. He will be a fine replacement for Enrique Bartos Sanchez. Happy he's still doing it. I think the only question is why is he wearing number four? I think we all have, especially for the amount of respect he has for Adam Kevin and Terry, we'll listen to hear what he's thinking there. Vinny just went into the ring of honor. You think he talked to Vinny? Yeah, I assume Thomas and Vinny know each other. I don't know. I don't know how many numbers are available right now, too. We've been through so many players. It's not college. There's plenty available. We know that. Yeah, there is. What if they just gave it to him and he's like, hey, I don't really want to be wearing Vinny's number. Shut up. Take it. Sorry, bud. I didn't like the number. Once again, though, who am I? Who cares what I like? I'm friends with Thomas. I'm a former Colt. I'm happy Thomas is a Colt. And he's going to fucking bomb balls for us. Nicole Hardman Jr. also on our team. That's huge. We need a wide receiver. So maybe this is what Dodds has been aiming to do, the assistant general manager all along. Do you think Chris Ballard had the whole fob doesn't even work when he gets there thing? Oh, yeah. Oh. I think he turned it in like a deputy after arresting the wrong person. I do wonder. That wouldn't be very kicking the stigma-like, though. So probably not. Okay. I mean, who knows? But, like, as Dodds is making these decisions, is Chris moving out of his office at the same time? Probably. They probably told him the night before. But is Chris still moving shit out of his office? No. That's got to happen pretty quickly, don't you think? That's happening very fast. He probably already had it all moved on. He's got a lot of shit in there. What are they doing for him? I don't know if they would do that for him because Chris is a good guy. He's a GM. He's a good man. Do you think they even moved the other guy in? Dodds? Yeah. He has a little tiny office. Yeah, he's got his office. No, give him the big office. Yeah, he's moving up. For sure. Give him the corner office. I don't want this old baby office over here. I need to make a lot of decisions that are going to impact the future of this multi-billion dollar business. Man. I mean, he's only got a couple weeks to make those decisions. Exactly. So why move him? And then he's out. Why move who? Out of the office? Why move Dodds? Is that his name? It's Ed Dodds. There it is. And Ballard said to him, Ed, my watch is ended. It's time for you to reset the shoe. And then he left. Speaking of watch ending, that hourglass is flipped over completely. You know what that means? What's that? This is over. We're out of time. This is over. This is over. I wish we had more time. I wish you had more time. I really like the new logo. I like the color. Sweet. It looks good. Like GTA. I really like it. I really like it. I really like it. It's been a while since I've been out here in L.A. This place is unbelievable. Yeah. I complimented this place pretty heavily earlier. It is a little GTA feel. And it's also Plum Mustangs. We've got a little purple in there. We're all ballers here. We lost by a lot to the North Hills Indians on Friday. And I owe LeVar Arrington 30 push-ups. What happened last week? We lost to North Hills. That's what happened. No, no, no, no. The week before. I don't remember. Who'd you lose to? We were the Pittsburgh Steelers high school showcase game of the week against North Hills. So, we obviously, the week beforehand, didn't matter. We were still a showcase game. No, no. I just think I need to hear it out of your mouth. What happened the week before. What did happen? What did happen? An 0-5 Moon Tigers beat the Plum Mustangs. What? 0-5? You guys are 0-5? What? You need to fire your GM. You're a 1-5 now. I don't. I'll tell you what. Just like the Colts. All right. Versus the Titans. Is this your coaching tree, Dave? It is. It's just Tone Diggs' fault, actually. Wait, what? Yeah. That's not mine. Bill Romita was my coach. Frank Sacco was my coach. Rest in peace, Frank Sacco. Absolute legend. Bill Romita didn't win a lot of games. He's a good guy. He's a good guy. He won a lot of games. Did he? Yeah. He was coach there for like 30 years. Oh, yeah. I guess at some point, you're going to inevitably stack him up. Almost playoff time. Shout out Cypress Bay Lightning. 8-0. 1-C. South Florida. Denzel Butler. Defensive coordinator. Let's go. Also, shout out to the 8A high school squad out here led by Carson Palmer named? Santa Margarita. Santa Margarita. I guess they're the national champs. Wow. Yeah. 8A national champions. Carson Palmer is the head coach. His boy is the quarterback. He's a sophomore. And I guess he is. He's a player. They're saying he's the one. They're saying he's the one, right? Yeah, he's a guy. They have a senior on the team who's a Vanderbilt commit. Lost the starting job to Fletch Palmer. Fletch? Fletch. Fletcher. Sweet name. Yeah, sweet. Fletcher's a really good name. How do you guys feel about all these buttons we've been using today? How do you guys feel about it? Pretty cool. It's pretty cool. 17. What do they all mean? So, here's wide shot. So, basically breaking it down. This is a wide shot. Boy shot. Look at this. Guess who's on it. The boys. That's right. That was good. Might have healed some relationships there with that. What do you mean? Then we got this one. That's brilliant. Stay tight with me here if we need to. And then this one's been bouncing back and forth. Diddy's been doing the controlling on this one. Where are you? Goes from D-butt, ISO, and then if AQ was to start talking, we come back here to me. We say, hey, yeah, AQ now. And then Diddy says, let me get that for you. But we're right here. It looks like we have five cameras. Guess what? We only have four. And if you want to really start dancing, you can go ahead and take this one and say, don't you take a walk, dude? Wow. Why don't you take a walk over to the board? Now, it's a little bit slower, longer. walk than we could have imagined. You know, I can't really tighten that up. But, bam, we're there. Now, let's go ahead and back that up a little bit. Shall we get a little better frame? Oh, no problem. So, you know, it was a little bit of a day trying to figure these entire things out. But I think we end up getting there. Got it, yeah. Oh, yeah. I've had a blast here. This place is beautiful. It's gorgeous. We're going to go walk around and just see what's all possible here. That is, and boys, I think you know this now, and I don't know how many people that watch know, but, like, having me walk into one of these buildings is just not good. You know, I can't wait to hear what fucking idea I come up with after seeing some of these spaces with what's possible here. I mean, this set right here has Fantasy Football Live, which we all watch. Love that show. We all watch. Who's on it? Yeah, shout out Field. Who's your favorite guy? Oh, Field, boom. Is that Adam Rank or no? No, it's Top. Yeah, it's Top, dude. Oh, yeah, I got him. Yeah, not sure. Just like we watch. Wires Crawl. It's not Field's show. This is a different show. And just like we watch. He walks past another studio yesterday there. Yeah, good show going. That was your favorite. Connor actually said he'd watch that show. Oh, yeah, Connor's favorite. No, no, I said I actually stopped watching that show because they said some stuff about the Patriots I just couldn't even handle, and that's why I refused to name them because I don't want them to take any more heat from New England Patriots fans. Oh, you talking about NFL Daily with Double G Greg Rosenthal? Mm-hmm. Yeah, we watched by that yesterday. Live taping. Yep. Do yourselves a favor. Walk down that hallway. There are maybe the comfiest chairs of all time in that green room, Donner. Yeah, I've not seen the green room yet. I've not seen a lot of these places, but I do know that it is gorgeous here. Mm-hmm. I know this show, this set right here, and we watched this show, obviously. They got 200 lights above us right now. I don't even know the amount of money that they've spent just in lights for this place, just for this studio, one right here. Yeah. Okay. Telestrator, we weren't able to telestrate on. I assume that'll get figured out at some point. There are some real science and technology. Nah, that one won't get figured out. No. No. No. You can take the reservation. You just can't hold the reservation. At some point, that thing will get working, and it'll be an unstoppable force. I like your optimism. But this entire place is amazing. We're lucky and thankful to be here. And, lads, good work this week, D-Buck. Great work, brother. You too, AQ. That was awesome. Thank you. Back in the. Thunderdome. Good work this week, boys. There you go. You too, man. AJ, thank you for traveling out there. You're the absolute man. All right, boys. If it wasn't for all of you, we wouldn't be able to do this. So the fact that all of you allow me to do this, we are forever grateful for all of you. All right. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change your life. We're in a sin together. Team on me. Safe travels, boys. You too, brother. Yeah, dude. You're right. I'm traveling, too. Yeah. This time is crazy. I got all day, man. Travel from California to California. That was crazy. Long trip. Yeah. San Francisco is really far. Boys, it's noon out here right now. That's awesome. Enjoy it. Get in the ocean, man. Go swim in the ocean. Take a dip. I don't know if I'll do the ocean, but there's a couple pools out here that have been calling my name. Yeah. They give me a little tan because a lot of people are like, oh, I'm not going to do this. I'm not going to do this. We saw a spray tan I had a couple weeks ago because I was heading down to Alabama. Maybe we get a real tan. That's possible for my skin type, right? Let's do it. All right. Be a friend. We're in this thing together. Team on me. Team on three. Hey, for the good of sports, baby. One, two, three. Team. Goodbye. The NBA on ESPN is happening now, and we're here for all of it. From the superstar moves to the next-gen revolution. Let's get who we are, boys. Another three. Bang! We don't just live it. FAQs

Jalen Hurts has been ruled out for the season due to a blood clot that developed from a superficial clot. He will need to be on blood thinners for at least three to six months, and long-term recovery is expected to be fine if no underlying hypercoagulable condition is found.

The main concerns involve a superficial blood clot that may have traveled to the lungs, potentially causing a pulmonary embolism. Medical experts stress that such clots are serious and require prompt diagnosis and treatment, especially in athletes involved in high-impact sports like football.

Dr. David Chow states that if Hurts had a superficial vein thrombosis, it was medically acceptable to play, especially with precautions like hydration and movement. However, if it had progressed to a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), playing would have been inappropriate. The critical question is when the clot became deep, which remains under investigation.

While there is no universal protocol, Dr. David Chow notes that medical staff should be aware of risks associated with blood clots, especially after long flights. He emphasizes that precautions like movement, hydration, and anticoagulants are standard, and transparency in medical decisions is essential.

The Colts have fired their general manager and are now operating under interim leadership. The team is in the midst of a rebuild, with uncertainty about future trades and strategy, though there is hope for improvement, especially with key players like Jonathan Taylor.

The NBA season opener, featuring LeBron James in a standout performance, generated strong fan reactions and renewed interest in team rivalries. Games like the Knicks' banner night and Paul George’s 38-point effort highlighted high-energy fan involvement and intense team performances.
