PMS 2.0 1649 - NBA Tip Off Tuesday Live From SoFi with Jim Nantz, Adam Silver & Steve Young

The show celebrates a luxurious, immersive experience at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, where NFL Studios feature every toilet with a bidet and a world-class cafeteria. The narrative centers on a dramatic Monday Night Football game where Brock Purdy achieves a historic passer rating, leading the San Francisco 49ers to a dominant first half before a defensive stop by Washington’s players saves the game. This highlights the 49ers’ potential as Super Bowl contenders despite injuries to key players like Mike Evans. Analyst Jim Nance evaluates the season’s dynamics, praising the Chiefs under Patrick Mahomes and expressing deep concern over the Colts’ poor roster and injuries. He also notes the instability in the NFC East, with multiple teams struggling. On the NBA front, the season is seen as highly competitive, driven by new talent, team shifts, and innovative elements like the NBA Cup and special court colors. Commissioner Adam Silver underscores the league’s proactive approach to sports gambling, focusing on integrity through bet restrictions and transparency. These developments reflect a broader trend of innovation and player-centric engagement, reinforcing the league’s dynamic and forward-looking nature. The event underscores the importance of health, defense, and strategic management in determining playoff success across both the NFL and NBA.

Hello beautiful people and welcome to the nicest place we've ever done a show on this NBA tip-off Tuesday October 20th. This show starts now. Great work on the jib. We are so incredibly thankful and lucky to be here in Los Angeles in front of SoFi Stadium. I believe at the NFL Network Studios that is now a part of the ESPN family because of the ESPN NFL media merger. We just walked through this for the first time. First of all them having our logo on the side of their building. Thank you so much for the hospitality. Just walk through this building. Nicest studios I've ever seen in my life. Every toilet has a bidet. Yeah. Every toilet is a bidet. You go get coffee. 14 different varieties of coffee. You're talking about the nicest cafeteria I've seen. The nicest studios we've seen and sitting right out here. Maybe the nicest setup we've ever had. We appreciate everybody that has allowed us to be here. We appreciate everybody that has allowed everybody that has allowed us to be here. We appreciate everybody that has allowed us to do this. We're very thankful and lucky to be a part of this operation and fresh off of a field pass on Monday Night Football on ESPN 2. We are living the dream. You know who else is living the dream? Brock Purdy. He is now the all-time leader in passer rating after he qualified for the stat after having 1,500 pass attempts. Last night Brock Purdy was surgical. The San Francisco 49ers look like they were going to potentially dominate this Washington Commanders team. 20 to 3. 20 point lead at one point. Then the Washington Commanders woke up in the second half. Jaden Daniels started doing his thing. This became a ball game. And all of a sudden we think to ourselves, it's Dan Quinn and the Washington Commanders about to do something nobody has ever done in the past. Kyle Shanahan was 35 and 0 whenever he had a 20 point lead at one point in the game. That was about to vanish because of Jaden Daniels and Dan Quinn. Instead, San Francisco 49ers defense get a big time sack whenever they need it. They get a stop. And the San Francisco 49ers remain undefeated after a Monday Night Football epic clash that we'll remember forever because we had the absurd opportunity to be down there on the end zone. So everybody attuned in and watch the We appreciate you. We had some fun out there. Now we did hear some reporting at halftime. Scott Van Pelt noted commanders fan Monday Night Countdown host. I'm lucky to work with him every single Monday six to eight on ESPN halftime. He comes down to us. He says, got to know how many downs there are. I got to know what down it is. And he's a little bit of a depressed commanders fan after how everything is going and how it is gone. He says, got to know how many downs are. We missed it. What are you talking about? He goes, okay, look back. What Dan Quinn says after the fourth and five in field goal range throw away by Jaden Daniels illegal shift one week after the whole gaffe to end the game where they didn't know if it was a sixth quarter, if they could lose or what the hell was going on with no timeouts. So multiple situations back to back game. Scott Van Pelt said can't have it happen. So we talk about it because we were flabbergasted that that would happen. We watched the video back. Sure looks like that's what he said. But Dan Quinn came out afterwards. We have to take him for what his words are. He said, I knew what down it was. Come on. So we appreciate Dan Quinn clearing that up. I don't know if a lot of people are going to believe it. I will take him for his word because I believe Dan Quinn has committed a lot of his life to football. Dan Quinn has done a lot of good for football. I think against the Giants, that situation with the OC might have been some communication issues, might have been a lack of knowledge, whatever the case. I don't think we need to be judging Dan Quinn just off of that. This guy's won a Super Bowl. This guy's been a head coach. Now he's wearing his hat forward. Not good. Different. He said back. Because he went back to Dallas. So he goes over to Atlanta as a head coach. Everything happens. Twenty three. We talked about Shanahan gets a lot of blame. He was the head coach. Nobody really remembers that. He goes to Dallas, becomes defense coordinator, wears his backwards hat, becomes cool guy. I mean, Dallas Cowboys defense is awesome. Gets head coaching opportunities again, has backwards hat. They have success. They start going down a pooper a little bit. All of a sudden now we got a forwards hat. The owners in the building in my bad coach. You're not a bad coach, Dan Quinn. But a lot of people are saying that with how it's going with the commanders. That is life in the NFL. The Niners might be the best team in ball. The commanders might be the worst team in ball. But really, it's just two plays that could have changed the entire outcome. And that is why football is the absolute best. We're here outside of SoFi, the home of a lot of big games and the home of the reigning MVP. Boy, the Rams are in a tough spot, it feels like. And then you look at the Niners out here in the NFC West and you think, is that what the Kings of Ball look like? And you could certainly find yourself saying, I think so. Incredible environment in Levi's Stadium. And this week six NFL season really has delivered for us. It's not just me out here on the field. That's gorgeous. Yeah. In this sun, which is one of the best parts of Los Angeles, I guess, is the weather. Sure. No matter what's going on in the city, whether it's booming or in a rebuild or coming back, the weather is always going to be fantastic. We feel that and experience that right now. The toxic tables here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt last night, con man, Brock Purdy went into history books, actually. Yeah. Highest pass rating in the history of ball. Congrats to him. But that Niners team looked very dominant. Everything they did, and in Christian McCaffrey starts cooking and he's just getting yards after yards with everything he's doing. Looked like a couple years ago. Might have lost Mike Evans. Yes. That's not good at all. But I like the way this Niners team operated last night. Yeah, they were very dominant in the first half, but there was kind of that glaring missing piece on offense. Once Mike Evans went out, you wonder they're probably a team that's going to be pretty aggressive going forward at the trade deadline. They need a wide receiver. I mean, no Mike Evans, no Depot Samuel to Marcus Robinson was out there out a ton of guys. And again, the Achilles tendonitis, like if Mike Evans pulled his hamstring or it was something like that, that'd be one thing. The Achilles tendonitis thing is just not cool. Okay. It sucks that that is a thing. We saw with McCaffrey a couple of years ago. He missed the first 13 weeks of the season, maybe. And now Mike Evans dealing with it. The substation we got eyes on at things. No joke. And yes, it powers very, very important things. Like you mentioned, meta, Microsoft, open AI stuff we need in some capacity. Some people would say no. I don't know. After that coach's video, we need open AI. That's true. I did not know Freeman could do it like that. Hot sack. See how happy DeBoer was to be hitting those notes? Yeah, that's one half of the hammer. Cowboys, AP Town, never seen DeBoer that happy. Nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler is here as well. D-Butt, we'll get into how ridiculous this whole thing is. Incredible. Property value this close to so far. I mean, to build this place, let alone. And then what's inside of it? Every bathroom, every toilet, bidet. Mixed reviews on those, by the way. From who? Mixed reviews. Not on the bidet. The seat warmer needs to go. I like feeling a nice cold toilet seat when I sit down. I don't like my butt cheeks to be sweating when I'm trying to have just a nice normal diarrhea. I want to get that done and over with. I don't need to compound it with, you know, getting. Did that happen in here? Is this what just happened? Yes, big time. This place had no idea. Felt like we were taking a poop after we got out of the pool. Nobody likes doing that. Oh, really? Yeah. So I think there's maybe you guys had the heat too high. Probably turn that down. Maybe. 10,000 buttons in there. You know, I'm not trying to fly to Mars. I'm trying to take a shit. So, you know, I get it. It's cool. It's unbelievable. It's crazy. But I don't need that. You know, I just give me a classic port-a-john and I'll take the heat that way. And you would like a moisturized wipe, though? Without a doubt. Because that is like a portable bidet. Bingo. So you don't mind the post-shower part of the bidet? No, no, no. I don't love wet wipes. You just don't like the environment in which your cheeks have to handle. Right. And also, you know, I do appreciate that. It felt like they were like kind of spraying some sanitizer into the bowl because. Yeah, before you get up. Exactly. I don't know if the sensor was off. I'm pretty sure some of that sanitizer got sprayed into my butthole. So we'll see. I don't know if I'm going to get sick from that. I don't know how my body is going to react. So we're battling this morning. NFL might have a lawsuit on their hands. Well, I'm not going to go that far. I'm not going to go that far. But it was, you know, I just I was not expecting that. I thought I was taking a dump in 2026, not 26, you know, 26, 65. Every toilet. Yeah. Yeah. They're cool. It is beautiful. And we are very thankful. Without a doubt. Okay. We are very thankful for the opportunity. This place is way too nice for us. I don't know. I wonder if these people that work here know how nice this place is. I hope so. It'd be tough if you're coming into work here every single day. It probably just feels very commonplace. But yeah, this place is amazing. I want to let you guys know. I love it. I love the Thunder, though. Yeah. Yeah. I love the Thunder. I'm glad we don't have to poop on the Sun there. Okay. Okay. All right. Let's move along. D-Butt last night. Brock Purdy. Christian McCaffrey. That offense. Spectacular. But in the end, what they needed was a defense to make a huge play. They get it done. They win the game. What did you see from the Niners last night that makes you believe maybe they do go win a Super Bowl? Let's act like Mike Evans will be back. Okay. And it's just last night felt a little Achilles soreness going into the game. Had a couple big plays. Felt it again. They all decided like, hey, let's just go ahead and park it here for a little bit. We're up 20 at this point. Let's assume that's the case. We have no idea if that is the case or not. But let's live in that world as if Mike Evans will be playing for them down the stretch here. Yep. What do you see from the Niners? And I think the I think they got it. I mean, health is obviously the biggest thing. Let's act like they can stay healthy. That team stacked. Oh, yeah. They are stacked and loaded in Brock Purdy. The way he plays football. Surgical. Cerebral. And athlete had to enter 30 yards from the ground as well. So when things break down, he can get out of they will need receiving threat, whoever it is. But Mike Mike Evans has been tremendous so far this year. They're going to need him healthy. I think to make a Super Bowl run. George Kittle being healthy is huge. C-Mac being healthy is huge. Black even can get in there and spell and C-Mac for those times will be huge as well. So I think they have a team. But it's always every year we say this. They have the team that can go and win a Super Bowl if they can stay healthy. You have a great coach and staff. We know who Kyle Shanahan is. Got Raheem Moore. Morris back in the building, they love flying around. was the defense who came through and made plays late. It was Romello, Height, and then White combining for that sack to send them home. But, I mean, that's what you talk about with complimentary football. You talk about Shanahan, you talk about Morris, and then our guy Brent Boyd with the special team. So you're going to need all three phases to win it all. They have the squad. They've got a great bye week as well, one more game, and then the bye week. So hopefully they can be healthier on the other side to make a run down the stretch. Eddie Pinheiro is going to start making extra points there. It is breezy, so it would not be fun. Corliss Waitman almost gets a turnover on the punt when Luke McCaffrey almost gets hit off a little whirly bird. I saw Torrey Taylor from the Bears actually did that and got a turnover for the Chicago Bears. These punters are more talented than ever. Shout out to Torrey Taylor. Sorry I missed that in real time. We certainly should have spotlighted that. Corliss hit a couple of those last night trying to get a returner and a little bit of a buzzsaw there, which I respected and appreciated them doing that. You talk about the injuries at wide receiver. It goes all the way. Pearsall is supposed to be playing. Stribling is supposed to be playing. Robinson is supposed to be playing. They're supposed to have a packed wide receiver room. Debo hurt last night. Mike Evans now out. It's like how much longer can Brock Purdy continue to make this system his with whoever's at wide receiver, I guess? That's what it looked like last night. Christian McCaffrey also getting a lot of touches last night out of the backfield. Yeah, there was a point when he had eight catches, Kittle had five catches, and then Mike Evans had three, and then there was only two other wide receivers with one catch each last night. But I think going into that game, Shanahan had a game plan that Mike Evans was going to be there. So going forward, when Mike Evans, when Mike Evans is out and Stribling is out and DeMarcus Robin and Debo, if they're out, I think the game plan will obviously be a little bit different. Shanahan will be prepared for a little bit more. But no, like once all these, like Stribling is going to come back at some point. Mike Evans, like after Shanahan said last night, he's going to be fine at some point. Hopefully it feels like, I feel like they're going to be fine. They're going to get Bosa back on defense. It does feel like they're going to get healthy at some point. They should, hopefully. And then, yeah, they are the favorite to win the Super Bowl right now for good reason. Joining us now is a man who probably has a couple opinions on all of this. Are we? Even in our sane mind, trying to predict who's going to win a Super Bowl after week six. This guy's been calling sports 40 years. He's got range too. Yeah. You put him on a golf course. Perfection. You put him in a football booth. Magic. And hell, if you put him in a comedy club, sounds like his laugh. Also great. Ladies and gentlemen, the incomparable CBS man, Jim Nance. Wow. Hello, friends. Wow. Well, hold on. Where? Where are you? This looks incredible. You know where I am? I am at a place where I'm actually on the stage here in Broadway down in Nashville. This is Eric Church's place. Chiefs. You've probably been here before, I'm guessing, Pat. But if you haven't, this is where they have concerts. I'm in their concert hall. I was just finishing an interview with the Titans. So I hung on to knock this one out with you guys live from the stage where the diary of a polarizing figure needs to perform. Okay, Jim. At some point down the road. And if you do, I will be there to introduce you to this very stage somewhere down the road. Jim, I can't wait for that. We'll definitely move that to the spring whenever we have a little opening and a schedule. Album two on the way, by the way. Oh, yeah. I'm sure people will be pumped about that. I might say that for the rest of my life. Jim, you are a Nashvilleian, right? I believe you have spoke for the city of Nashville on multiple occasions. We love the city. I appreciate the fact that you love it as well. Titans just get their first win, you know. And I don't think anybody's talking. We're talking about the Titans winning the Super Bowl this year, but them beating the Colts, Colts firing the GM, certainly a massive moment in the AFC South. Let's go back to last night, Jim. I don't know if you heard us talking there. Yeah, I did. We're trying to forecast whether or not a team can win a Super Bowl. And acting like health is just going to be good. That's the biggest factor. And how do you feel about those types of projections this early in the season from what you've experienced around the NFL? Well, you know, it can look so different in two months' time. But what the 49ers have already accomplished with a win at Seattle. Already being the Rams to open the season. And, yes, we know that story is somewhat tiresome. They've always got these injuries to contend with. But they look like, on the NFC side, to me, clearly the team to beat. I mean, that game had the makings of a blowout for a while last night. It racked up 300 yards in the first half. I want to give everybody a little fantasy football gift, if I can. You guys were talking about the receiving court, how depleted it is. Christian Kirk will win. been some fantasy leagues for people this year. He was not ready to come back yet. He's come off of IR. They've opened the 21 day. I believe he's a great route runner and I believe with pretty he's a guy that could be good for five six seven catches a game when he gets out there. Yeah great route runner. He got paid down there in Jacksonville reset the entire wide receiver market. Actually the reason why Tyree kill ended up in Miami is because Christian Kirk got signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars one offseason. He lived up to the hype down there. Now he's in San Francisco whenever they need him. You get Debo Samuel back. OK. You get Debo back which I was talking a lot of the Niners folks last night. They're like tonight would have been a great Debo night. Just a little slant extra yak. We are off and running. He get him back. Hopefully Mike Evans is good. Christian Kirk's going to be out there. Christian McCaffrey still back there. Other back last night got some some rub as well. Black. Yeah. Black's going to be big. Yeah I think so. Nance I think they got a real squad in San Francisco. Can they stay healthy. Now let's pivot away from the Niners and Super Bowl projections. You just called the Bills Raiders. Now the big question is can that Buffalo Bills defense get a stop sometime in the fourth quarter in a big playoff game whenever they need it. So Josh can answer. How do you view that Bills team now after watching them take on the Raiders who I think we're all impressed by the Raiders. I think we're all impressed by the Raiders. How do you view the Bills now though Jim after calling them. Well it's going to be that defense is going to be the key because Jim Leonard I love their defensive coordinator but they give up 30 points almost every single week but they still win. They outscore him. Josh is doing his thing like he always has. He had this one touchdown pass the other day that I think is one of his top 10 highlights ever where he flipped it like he was like rolling dice like he had just come off the casino floor. This is the play right here. This is watch this. Tell me this is not a guy rolling some dice right here on the craps table. Watch this right here. Right there. Yeah. Yeah. The key on Cole that hits the back wall there bounces back. Exactly. Settles in. Yeah. Yeah. Well and you know they're going to get back DJ more. They're going on a bye this week and talking to Joe Brady more. We saw a sneak peek of that week one. He opens up things for him. Not that he this offense isn't running without him in high gear but I think with more hopefully being healthy from week eight on the offense has been good for 30 every single week and the defense is still trying to find itself. The secondary is an issue and they've got to figure that one out. But you know great this season and is a better player has ever been a former first round pick. He's got six sacks. He's a playmaker. I see. And they've been without at all over the last two games. So I think this could be a Buffalo San Francisco year. But on Thanksgiving night it's Buffalo and Kansas City a game that always came to us at CBS like the last eight years in a row. It's not going to be ours this year. And we understand that how that works. And NBC's going to have it. It'll be a whale of a game probably a winner of that game. We'll have home field and I would project that team Kansas City or Buffalo to play San Francisco in the Super Bowl. Modern media is shaking up a lot of things. You being a part of our Sundays has been a part of our entire lives. You know it's so we're very grateful for that. You not having the AFC big game though is certainly something that's abnormal. The big game has been the Chiefs for a long long time. This would have to be the year Josh Allen gets past maybe the best version of them. D-Bud has a question for you. Yeah. Kind of a new version. Pat just alluded to it with K-9 in the backfield. He's been an offensive player maybe MVP type start. I mean I know it is Josh. But I feel like Kansas City Patrick Mahomes. Are they still the team to beat in your eyes. Well they have so much experience of winning the big game. That's a great question. And I love the fact that coming into the year they were kind of not on anyone's radar as being the old Chiefs all over again. And you're right. I think Ken Walker and having seen them already this season when they played out in Vegas two weeks ago. This guy to me is the MVP of the league right now at the quarter poll. And it's always gets back to the quarterbacks. You know people talk about Purdy. They talk about Josh. They talk about Patrick Mahomes. OK. They've all been fine. They've all been better than fine. But this guy has completely changed the look of Kansas City. It's never looked like this. He's never had a back that completely changes the way the offense runs. And yeah I mean he to me right now is the MVP at this point in the season. Last Super Bowl that they won. I believe it was last Super Bowl they won. Patrick Mahomes came out multiple times down the stretch of the season and into the playoffs and said this is a defensive led team with a run game. I actually have had to learn that this year where it's like hey we'll hand this thing off three times and punt. That's OK with how good our defense was at the time. This year I think he not only leaning on that particular experience he loves what's happened and whenever the entire defense has to account for canine every he's getting heavy boxes getting heavy boxes for the first time in like four years. Remember the cover to thing with Patrick Mahomes was he's going to have to just not get bored. He's going to have to check it down check it down check it down and they became that way for a long time because our defenses were playing. Now you can't waste a guy in coverage because he's got to be down the box because a canine that opens up Travis is eating now a little bit more than ever. If they were to get another wide receiver I think they would eat and Patrick Mahomes is doing shit that we haven't seen in a few years. years out of Patrick Mullins. Yeah. My question was, at least coming into the season, even after a hot start, would Andy Reid kind of continue to lean on the run game? Because that's always been a question about Andy. He's always been, you know, quote-unquote, pass happy. But with this start, I would assume he would continue to do so with Kenneth Walker leading the league by a wide margin when it comes to missed tackle. Eric Bien-Aimé being back in the building, I think, is a huge role. And then Travis Kelsey. Travis Kelsey looked like he aged five years backwards. Xavier Worthy making some plays. So, yeah, this team right now, the defense, they're doing their thing per usual under SPAC. So, yeah, this team right now is clearly, in my opinion, a team to beat. And their special teams is great as well. The Chiefs is still the Chiefs. It might be better than ever. A team in the AFC that might go 13-4 this year, Jim Nance, fired their general manager just yesterday. And Boston Connor, Patriot fan, has a question for you, Jim. I'm sure this won't be biased narrative leading at all. Jim, it's not all sunshine and rainbows in the NFL, and we know that as people who live in Indianapolis and call that play. It's home. How tough is it? Look, it's tough, man. Okay, we're paying taxes to support that stadium, one. Two, I was told there would be two Super Bowls by the time 2013 comes around. All right, Jim, sorry about this. Sorry, Jim. That's a separate conversation. But, Jim, for a team like the Colts, how do you kind of see them going forward? You know, the GM gets fired, of course. That stinks. GM, Pat mentioned yesterday for Chris Ballard, also stands for good man, which he was to the city. But as far as the job goes, it was tough for a long time. Do you think it's just a fire sale? Do you think that is kind of how this goes typically in Indianapolis? Where do you see kind of their season going? Do you see 13-4, or do you see 4-13? Okay, I don't see 13-4. I saw them a week ago at Pittsburgh. You know, they're so depleted on the outside. I'm talking offensively here. But you've got a guy that nationally I still don't think gets the respect. Talking about JT, Jonathan Taylor. Oh, yeah. You cannot give up. You cannot give up on the, let's say, the next two or three years and do a fire sale right now. You've got a guy that is a great, great player. You've got guys like, look at DeForest Buckner. He's come back this year. You were mentioning Kelsey. Looks like he's dialed back five years. The Benjamin Button thing. I mean, they've got guys on both sides that can play. Right now, they're like a 500 team. I know they're not by record right now. But they look like a team that would have projected 8-9, 9-8. And there are a couple of things. I wouldn't give up on it yet. That's what I'm trying to say. Thank you, Jim. I like that. I like that. That makes me feel good. Because you know what I'm thinking? Oh, no. We've got no picks, Jim. We've got no picks going forward. We've got all our money accounted for basically everywhere. And a new GM is going to come in and be like, all right, we've got over $100 million in a contract and a quarterback. We've got a lot of money all around the roster. Maybe it's just a new culture that they need in there. Is that what you're thinking, Jim? Just like a new culture, a couple of new pieces? How do we have – we're 2-11 in the last 13 with all these guys you're talking about. They're great players. I agree. I completely agree. Jonathan Taylor deserves a lot more credit than he is. We try to give it to him whenever he plays great. He's won us a lot of games. DeForest Buckner, when the Colts have him, we're usually pretty good. When we don't have him, he's not good. This 2-11 had a lot of no DeForest Buckner because he was like very seriously injured for a while. So, we have a lot of great players. We stink. We can't win. Do you think just some new – like a new culture in there, Jim, can do wonders potentially? No, I just – no, I think, Pat, you look at it. I mean, you've got Quentin Nelson. Let's talk about one of the best in the whole league at his position. But Tyler Warren didn't play on Sunday. That's something to build around. But you've got – you lost Pierce. That was huge. Talk about stacking the box. I mean, there is just – let me address Daniel Jones. Okay. We saw him at his best at the start last year, and we know what happened. He didn't finish the year, had it taken away with injury. I know people don't want to hear it. It's not going to be a popular take. He's not all the way back from that Achilles injury. I mean, this is a guy that used to be able to beach a little bit with his legs. I mean, he could really come out of the pocket like he's trying to do right here and take off. I mean, he had 60, 70-yard runs back early in his career. The guy was a threat. He's not now. They're stacking the box. You're talking about it because there's no threat on the outside. And, by the way, did you agree with this call right here? What, the catch? That was a sick catch. No, I didn't agree with it. That was the ability we're driving. I hated it. I thought it was a phenomenal play. I hated every second of it. There was a couple of those down in the red zone while we were driving. Daniel Jones has been turning the ball over. But, to your point, he came back so quickly from that Achilles, and everybody else that we've seen come back quick has taken a little bit to get back. I mean, Kirk Cousins is throwing dimes in the fourth quarter. Now he didn't look great whenever he returned. Aaron Rodgers, it took a little bit, I think, for him to return. Yep. Yep. Yep. Guys, basketball players seemingly have been able to bounce. Kittle really is the outlier, honestly. He's the only one that's come back and seemingly right away hit the ground running and been great. He's unbelievable to watch. So, you're right. Maybe we should be a little bit more patient with Daniel Jones' experience that we're kind of having right now. But it looks bad, Jim. It looks really bad. It doesn't look good. It doesn't look good right now. They stink, Jim. They freaking stink, man. The city stinks right now. No, the city's still awesome. The city's great. The team stinks. The city is great. Thank you, Jim. The city, I could have moved there. I actually thought about moving there. I was living in Pebble Beach, California full-time for 10 years. All right. And the commute crushed me because most of the time I was going across the country every week, like 40 weeks a year. So, now it came time to find a new place to plant. And I had Indy. It was on my final three. I really love Indy. It's the Pebble Beach in the Midwest. And I've called more events, more variety of events in Indy. I've called Indianapolis and any other city in the country. I ended up choosing Nashville. Close call. It was a great call. I love this city. Music City's awesome. But I have a special place in my heart for Indianapolis. I've called six or seven Final Fours, PGA's, Pan American Games, numerous Colts games. I mean, it goes on and on. I know that city so well. I could have lived there. I really could have and would have been very happy. Man, you and Matthew Stafford both. Do you remember that? Oh, yeah. Allegedly, Matthew Stafford was going to come to Indy, too. I didn't know we could have had Nance and Steph. Yeah, whenever he was leaving Detroit. Allegedly, Indianapolis was one of the teams he liked to go to because we had a good offensive line. We had a good offensive line. He was on Zillow. Yeah, Schrager told us he was on Zillow and looking for houses. And then we won with Carson Wentz, I think. That was awesome. That was fun. We won with Carson Wentz. Hey, these are decisions that get made in real time. And Matthew Stafford going to win a Super Bowl for Los Angeles Rams and an MVP. And we're currently still trying to figure out what the hell we're going to do with the football team. But the next chapter is our best. Next chapter, Jim Nance just said it there. Let's talk about your next chapter this upcoming weekend. Got the Ravens. Go ahead, Tone. Yeah, Jim, you were talking about the Bills and Chiefs in the AFC earlier. Don't forget the Bengals and Ravens who you have this week. Have you had any indication yet about Lamar's status for Sunday? I don't know if you've talked to the coaches or teams or anything like that yet. And then what do you think about those two teams' chances in the AFC against those other two that we talked about earlier? Well, that division, great question. That division, everyone in that division right now has got a winning record. You know, that's rare. I mean, when you get to late October and everybody's over.500. And, of course, the surprising Browns at 4-2 who are coming in here and taking on Tennessee this week. I don't have anything on Lamar yet. Today's going to be. No. We'll know tomorrow when they first come out with the injury reports. I think he's going to be a go. I think he's going to play in this game. It's too big. Obviously, the Bengals are sitting at 3-2 coming off a bye week. And they're explosive. We know that. And that division is totally right now with Pittsburgh at 4-2. It's up for grabs. It was a bad loss by the Ravens the other day. They had a 10-point lead. And I think they need Lamar back. Snoop was doing great. Snoop pulled off that win at Atlanta. But, you know, the Browns adjusted later in that game. They gave up nothing to the Ravens the rest of the last three quarters of that game. And they never scored, in fact, quarters 2, 3, and 4. I think it's time. It's time for Lamar to come back. And I think it's a whale of a game. They've got – I've had this matchup so many times through the years. They're always down to the wire and usually high-scoring affairs. So, I'm looking forward to seeing Joe Burrow. We didn't see them – we haven't seen them in a while on our crew. And, you know, this is going to be big for both sides. Jim, how do you have so much information in that brain? And then as you're unloading it all, I noticed that your right hand right there is no longer wrapped. I don't know if you've given a full update on trying to do the peanut punch. I like that. Bucket ice. Good gimmick. Yeah. No, let me clarify. I did kind of go aggressively here after this ball because J.J. encouraged me to do so. And it did sting. I'm not going to kid you. And J.J. said, I didn't know you were going to come after it that hard. Some are saying that it was the greatest punch thrown in Vegas since Pacquiao a few years back. Okay. But I gave it my best. And as soon as I did it, I regretted it because I felt like everything had been compressed. Yeah. And I did think I was going to wake up Monday with this thing about triple the size. But I'm fine. I'm not going to be on the injury report this week. I'm going to be good to go. No broken bones. I want to thank everyone. I've gotten more people. You're reaching out to me with concern. Of course. About what's going on with my wrist. Did you break it? I was joking when I said, right after this right here, I said, I think I broke my wrist. Yes. There was that immediate, like, reverberation thing going on. But, I mean, I heard from people you can't believe. Josh Allen texted me an hour after the game and said, did you just break your hand? I'm hearing you broke your hand. I heard from a former president of the United States reached out and wanted to know if my hand was broken. So, listen, those reports have been greatly exaggerated. I'm fine. I'm tough. It did hurt for a while, and we're going to be good to go on Sunday. And, yeah, I learned a lesson. You got J.J. Watt cradling a ball like this. What am I? I'm going to, like, knock it out of his hands. Come on. The thing was vacuum sealed into his chest. Yeah, but I think that's why J.J. appreciated how hard you actually went for it. Like, because there was a moment in your head you thought, man, I'm going to get this out right here. You know, I'm going to really, I'm going to go for it. And you thought to yourself, I used to throw hands back in the day. You know, somebody crosses. Nance, they get the hands. People knew what it was. What did you think of the form, Pat? What did you see there? Well, the reason why your wrist hurt is because you actually lined it up. That's actually, you actually got some good, I think, Justin Gaethje would tell you that your force was not wasted because you had that thing square through. So, the reason why you felt that in there is because the energy went through knucks, through your metatarsal, because you can break all those things whenever you throw a punch. And you've done this, whether you're in a fight, not me, obviously. I would never do that. Or with one of those punching bags at the bar. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They punch it and then they break their stuff and that. So, it making its way all the way to the wrist, that's actually good news for how much wrist lock I think you had. I'm not a professional. That's not like a running back either. I don't think any running backs have mitts or that bill like JJ in there. So, I was thinking, like, just had a flashback of Blake Gruby teasing peas in the sideline. That was Jim on JJ, right? Yes, exactly. Whoa. That's what it was. You didn't deserve that, Jim. Change. Jim, but Blake Gruby did. Teasing peas. ACL. Blake, we love you. That was some of the best effort that we've seen in some time just to completely defy everything that is, everything that we know about, like, matter and force. Yep. He got hit so hard in the head that it was a chain reaction that went down and tore his ACL. We don't think that was the case. I think his knee got planted and twisted. I don't know. But it was in this stadium behind us. Blake Gruby, Godspeed on your return. That's what Blake Gruby does when he's trying to tackle somebody who's double his size. Think about what he's going to do to this ACL recovery. Gruby will be back. I cannot wait to see that. We love Gruby in Indianapolis. We are very lucky for Gruby in Indianapolis. He's got a lot of spunk. Speaking of spunk, let's talk about funk. Let's talk about ass. Let's talk about the worst division in the history of ball, potentially. Ty has a question for you. Yeah, Jim. The NFC East is the first division in the history of football to not have one of their teams win two weeks in a row. How do you think this whole thing is going to shake out? It seems like we could. We could be kind of going towards three coaches getting fired. Obviously, the Giants aren't going to fire Harbaugh, but they might be going with J.J. McCarthy. Who knows what's going on with the Eagles? We've talked ad nauseum about the commanders. How do you think this division is ultimately going to shake out? It's ugly. It's ugly, and I feel so badly for Jalen Hurts. We just hope that this is something that can get resolved for his life. Forget the football. That's the football part of it, but it just seems to be a doomed year all the way around with other injuries that have happened to the Eagles. I don't see it with Washington. I believe in John Harbaugh as a coach, and here they are, what, 3-2-1, so they're leading the division. I would say that it comes down to the Cowboys and the Giants. It's ugly. I think the Cowboys, even with their recent missteps. Terrible loss to Tampa a couple of weeks ago, and Green Bay completely outplayed them on Sunday night, but I think it's Dallas or the Giants, and I think whichever team wins is going to be the fourth seed, meaning the last of the divisional winners on the playoff line, so they'll play the best of the wildcard team, so whoever the best wildcard team is, let's say it's the second team. Who did you say? Seahawks. Yeah, let's say it's either the Seahawks or it's going to come out of the NFC North. You know, you've got Chicago and Detroit and Minnesota up there, so Dallas or the Giants is going to host one of those teams, either Seattle, Minnesota, Chicago, or Detroit. You can take it to the bank. Okay, I like that. That's a Jim Nance prediction. Sorry about the Green Bay Packers. No, they're winning the division. That's what he said. Okay, whoever's going to wildcard, wildcard spot out of the NFC North. Got it. Okay, that's it. A couple predictions he just gave there. Yeah, I like that. We just heard that as we pieced through it. Are you singing Talladega up there for the rest of the day, or how are you kind of wrapping up over there? You look so cool right now. I'm just waiting for you to come up here and take this stage, big guy. I don't know if you've ever been here before. I think I've been through Chiefs before. Zito had his bachelor party down there. We bopped. We bopped around pretty good. I think we've been through Chiefs. The place is beautiful. I was here for the grand opening a couple of years ago, and I mean, it was just, we had people fly in from all over. Michael Jordan was sitting in the seats behind me. Peyton and Eli were here. Everybody from, you know, all the best of the best of the Titans and their history here, and Eric came up and did a little bit, and he's been a great friend, by the way. Amazing friend since I moved here five years ago, and I know he would love to have you take stage sometime, like I said at the beginning. Okay, sounds good. Let's go ahead and count that as a yes. I will do that. I appreciate the invite from you and Chief. Okay, obviously love. I want to thank you for your contributions to sport and to our lives. You've been so consistent through it all. You're the man. Keep going out there, Jim, and just remember, J.J. Watt's J.J. Watt, you know? You're not going to get a ball out of his hands. I'm going to knock some knuckles to you right there, okay? Yeah, let's do that. Right back at you. You're the best. Ladies and gentlemen, Jim Nance. What if that's his new thing, punching people? Hey, put her there, Jim Nance. That would be good. Jim Nance. He used to throw hands. He used to throw hands, I heard. He had a big face. Wasn't he in Golden Gloves growing up? I think so, yeah. Hadn't thrown one in a while. Had to retire from boxing because Pacquiao and them got all pissed off. Yep. Because they were like, what's this guy? He's got a buttery voice. He can call everything, make everything seem cool, and then also he can knock us out. This guy's an alien. Maybe. Jim Nance might, just might be. This is way too nice for us to be here, but we are grateful that we are here. Shout out to everybody at the NFL Studios. What is the name of this place? Yeah, NFL Studios. NFL Network Studios. NFL Network. Super. The day center of the world. In cooperation with ESPN. Most bidets per capita of any building in the history. Without question. Shout out to it. Yeah. I mean, as soon as you walk in, like the helmets, the rings. All the helmets have visors on them. Yeah, that was a nice thing. Great touch. Great touch. Big logo. Yeah, this place is gorgeous. They did it right here. I have no idea what that would cost for us to build. Here? Right next to the stadium. Wow. It's beautiful. It's gorgeous. Joining us now, ladies and gentlemen, is a man who is commissioner of a league that is tipping off today. Now, we got sent over a couple key facts and milestones from the association that I do believe should be read before the man who's about to join us joins us. This is his league. Let's remember this. The NBA has crowned a different champion in each of the last eight seasons. The longest such streak in league history. Thirteen different franchises have reached the NBA. Finals during that span. How about parody con, man? Big time. The Western Conference has sent seven different teams to the NBA finals in the last seven seasons. A first of either conference. How you doing? Parody in the West. That might change this year as the East has seemingly got a bit more stacked. Shea Gilgis Alexander, SGA. He can become only the fourth player to win three straight Kia. I don't know if it always is always this Kia NBA MVP awards. He would join Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, and Larry Bird. Geez. Oh, yeah. LeBron James is a member of the Sixers. Victor Wembanyama, he can become the first player to lead the NBA in blocks per game in four consecutive seasons since blocks became an official stat in 1973. Wow. Magic happening all across the association. League-wide, there's storylines. And there feels like there's hope more than ever before. The commissioner of the NBA, ladies and gentlemen, Adam Silver. Hey, Adam Silver. You know, Pat, I wasn't sure if you'd be able to read my handwriting. Yeah, well, I'll tell you what. Just like everybody else. Everything else, very efficient and fantastic. Thank you for sending this via carrier pigeon. Now, let's talk about your league and some of the stats that we just read off there. Parody is incredible. I know you've been combating that and battling that because the NBA had that whole, well, they're not going for it. They're trying to get a lottery pick. How do you feel about the state of the league where we're at? And what do you expect from this particular season? More parody from your league's best? Absolutely. Absolutely. Again, you rattled off some of those great stats about the number. Champions, unique champions, eight different over the last eight seasons. But I can't remember a season that was so anticipated in terms of the level of competition across the league. As you mentioned, a bunch of our big stars have changed teams, players like LeBron, of course, in Philly. Kawhi, you know, the East is loaded. A bunch of teams in the West are we are opening with San Antonio and OKC. Tonight is the late game. You know, after the Knicks are opening at home the ring ceremony with with lebron um we got boston and we got uh detroit this afternoon i mean that's i think as i look across the league there's something to watch on every on every club like a bunch of new young stars um and as i said i think the parody is working combination of so much new talent in the league i think a good agreement with the players association that um allows you know for players to be well distributed around the league so i you know again as i said i i don't remember a season and and then i i should add you mentioned it you know we changed the rules around the lottery so there's there's zero incentive to lose you know what i'm what i'm saying to our general managers in the past at a show like this in the beginning of the season people would have been looking at statistics on where you stand and what that means for your lottery odds no math required this year just go out and win i like that you did that i like that you take a stand you do evolve a lot as a league i think if you see a problem you try to address it quickly because you know the state of the league is the most important and you guys have a massive media rights deal looking to take advantage of all the properties that you're on what are some of the changes this season that we should get used to seeing is there anything that i saw there was some you went into the sports gambling a little bit which i know you have been very very very active about since the beginning of it all with your league you understand that society is going to do sports gambling it has been happening for a long time but now we're at a state of everybody having access to it and doing it you've been trying to curtail it so it protects the league its players and its fans what have you done this year i feel like this is a big step for you guys actually and for the future of gambling as a whole with leagues so you know frankly we're trying to have more control over the kinds of bets that are placed and to your point i mean it's it's so widespread at this point putting aside when it used to be illegal in most places but still was widespread you know our view is we'd much rather have regulated transparent sports betting than legal underground sports betting which was what the old framework was and so now you have essentially 40 states that have legalized sports betting you have these prediction markets now technically called you know contracts but i think in in effect at least the impact on the league is the same in terms of people making wagers on what's happening on the floor and you have a global market of sports betting on top of that i think that gets left out of the conversation sometime that even if we change the regulations in the u.s you have at least 80 other countries in the world where you can take place bets on nba games so ultimately the goal for the league is to protect our integrity and one of the things we've worked with on the operators is limiting certain kinds of bets the ones that are easiest to manipulate and i think we're frankly and we see this in all sports where guys maybe are are screwing around a little bit but they don't think it's going to have any impact on the on the outcome of the game it has a core impact on our integrity but for example the first of bets you know they had some issues in other pitches and things like that in our league it could be who scores the first basket who has the first assist who is the first rebound things that arguably would have no impact on the outcome but something which would go to our core integrity if guys are screwing around so in working with the operators we've said take those kind of bets just just off the table so that we don't have to think about that stuff take the kinds of bets where you have two-way players who are just coming through the league where they don't have the same incentives as as journeyman players as guys on their full contracts who who might be tempted to screw around issues bets around unders which are the easiest to manipulate a guy's going to have under eight assists you know under 12 points you know so i i think there's i'm pro regulation in this area again sports betting is here to stay it's because it's global fans love it frankly there's enormous engagement around it there's problem gambling we have to worry about that and then we have to focus on the integrity of what happens on the court i like that you're playing defense against it instead of just either being oblivious or acting like somebody else is going to take care of it or somebody else will figure this out the government laws will figure you're playing actual defense i respect you doing that you are a forward-thinking uh commissioner i think you have to be with the nba especially with the demographic of your fans which is younger you have to be able to reach them all you've said that you try to do that i think you creating things of importance that you can market and sell like your jackie moon i think it's a big deal too and we're a big fan of that nba cup anytime you celebrate anything we like it this year even more so tone has a question for you adam yeah commissioner i think that the nba cup has been a tremendous success so far um it's mocked and ridiculed a little bit but hey everything everything do be like that yeah but it's been very very exciting i think nba fans have really enjoyed it and i think it's awesome what you're doing for the final this year going to hinkle field house uh on butler's campus in indianapolis that's really cool a historic uh you know stadium venue for the finals do you continue to see venues like that maybe cameron indoor stuff like that in the future to make it more of a special event for the finals at least yeah absolutely and you know i'm a duke guy so we got to get to cameron indoors as well and and pat you got to bring the show to hinkle fieldhouse that would be an honor that would be an honor to be able to get in there obviously we love that place yeah but to your guys point i mean the the fans um seem to love the cup i think it creates in-season competition in a way we haven't seen before i mean we're seeing the teams are taking the cup championship really seriously and i think it's going to be a great year for the nba cup you know taking a page from global soccer where there's multiple cups multiple tournaments the teams can play for i don't think it takes anything whatsoever away from the larry o'brien trophy but the guys love the competition in the season and as i said the fans responded well to it and and so we're continue to look pat to your point at other ways to innovate other ways to create more competition over the course of the season if you want to make a mega bowl we're down anything to make sports feel bigger and i like what you've done with the court some of the courts look ass i mean some of them you know that too you got eyes we all got eyes but some of them have been a fantastic touch you just walk by an airport or a cafeteria and it's on tv or not a cafeteria cafe maybe cafeteria i think they got a two-story one here have you been to these nfl studios out here they do nba today out of here adam have you been anywhere yeah no i've been and you know you're right down the street from the intuit dome of course where the clippers play it's that so far it's a beautiful facility the dome it's i can't see which direction it is from where you guys are in englewood there they've done an amazing job as becoming a a sports hub you know and you know it's it's wonderful you guys are there as well i'm here in the nba studio of course well we're very thankful that you're joining us on this nba tip-off day but on tvs whenever you have a different court it looks special it feels bigger and whenever you make something feel more important i like that you did that instead of just being status quo and you're going to get mocked and ridiculed by the people that are the purists and think it doesn't matter what are we going to do hang a banner that was the whole conversation whenever the lakers beat the pacers it's like no but we're going to we're allowed to like make something feel bigger if we want to in sports and also the paychecks for the guys down the bench that you guys did for that right to kind of give back to the players i think very uh unusual the way you operate as a commissioner with the league i think personally you know pat it's interesting on the cups the the idea was just as you said if people are passing through a bar in an airport or whatever else and they see that it's different color court they know something special is going on one thing i didn't anticipate is the players feel the same way i have a conversation because in the regular season you know some nights are cup nights some aren't and i think whatever is said in the locker room when they go out onto that floor and they see it's that different court it psychs them up for the game as well okay let's talk about uh some serious stuff that is going on around your league i saw lebron james get into a helicopter it wasn't his what okay you saw it we all saw it how do you feel about the noise that is surrounding pablo tori obviously the most notable uh investigative journalist that is has dabbled in the sports world into your league how do you feel about everything that's kind of with your like in that genre or bucket of nba situations how how do we feel right now and how the owners feel about how everything's going well you know obviously i'm not crazy about stories focused on things that are happening off the floor but i get it you know journalists are doing their jobs i would just say in the case of lebron and that helicopter he has a deal with fanatics it's perfectly appropriate if part of his deal is they're going to supply a helicopter to him i mean as long as it's a just a deal between you know the fanatics and lebron and no team is involved there's no rules issue there whatsoever yeah and any negotiation that has any of those types of benefits can happen and getting a helicopter uh in a city especially that was a big nice one yeah that was a nice helicopter can't be getting in those little helicopters not him i mean the issue is i you guys understood that a team you know can't have any play any role in a one of their players getting a deal with a separate sponsor but if players have direct relationships with a sponsor that's absolutely they're right okay so that's a big deal is team negotiating for player basically with third party not right that they can't do right that's not allowed i mean in a cap system because then you know whatever whatever the limit is that they can pay that player if a team could then come in and say but on the side will you know the following companies will arrange to do deals with you obviously that would that would be an easy way to circumvent the cap but on the other hand if companies come to players all the time particularly players like lebron top players in the league have huge endorsement deals and again that's their right and as long as that those are independently negotiated or perfectly appropriate yeah rich paul knows the price of gas is only going up too okay so let's assume that's a good negotiation there to get him from philly to new york or wherever he needs to be with fanatics lebron james has been the face of your league for a long long time i'm 39 so i've gotten a chance to witness the entire generation of braun what's next d-butt has a question for you adam yeah absolutely lebron's been one of the face of the league over 20 years now you got kd you got steph kind of been that big three who are some of the guys that you see maybe some prospects that carry that torch and be the next face or faces of your league it's it's hard not to start with john brunson i mean i'll be down when they you know hang the banner tonight for the champs championship. I mean, here's a guy who second round pick, you know, again, was picked up as a free agent from Dallas and nobody talked about him as the next superstar in the league. But look how he's led that team to a championship. Look at Carl Anthony Towns, of course, on the team. Look at OG. Look at the team they played. San Antonio Spurs. I mean, that Victor Wembanyama. I mean, people keep saying he's still getting taller. I don't know if that's possible. But I mean, he's an incredible player. You guys mentioned SGA Shea Gildress Alexander before. He's already won one championship. He's been in the finals again. You know, he's heading towards the finals again. You know, at least that's what their hope is. You know, he was in the conference finals last year. I mean, he got this great new group of draft picks coming in this year. You know, of course, Cameron Boozer coming from Duke, you know, who's like looking like he's going to be a superstar. AJ Bonse. I mean, I could keep going down the list. I mean, there's so much young talent coming into this league. Tyrese Halliburton, gold medalist. Tyrese back. You know, we missed him for a year. Your schedule makers put him on the zone against Pelicans his first game back. You guys have motivated him more than ever. And we would like to say thank you. That's what we were trying to do. Yeah. Yeah. Thank you for doing that. He's going to play his way back onto ESPN. Yeah. Well, that's right, Tyrese. Good luck, dude. Good luck. You better get some buckets, Tyrese. We'd like to see that. Wearing my hollies right now, by the way. NBA tip. Okay. Nice. Some new ones coming out soon, I think. Yeah, I think today he had some new ones come out. We're big fans of him. We love what the Pacers do for the city whenever they're good. So I think that is why we have become such big fans of your league. And obviously your hospitality is outrageous. It's NBA tip off day. Today, the season starts for brand new chase to the top of the mountain. Who will topple the Knicks or the Knicks go back to back? What a storyline. They were dominant last year. Fun to watch. Are they going to be able to get that lucky again? Feels like that is. No, they lucky. Lucky. Oh, listen to this guy. A long season. Yeah, you can't get lucky, I guess. Well, in the June, that's not luck. Yeah, you're right. But there was no Tyrese Halliburton. And that certainly needs to be talked about. I love watching that Knicks team. I love watching the run. I love following the season. More cities are about to experience what we get to experience in Indiana whenever the Pacers are hot. Connor has a question for you about a hot topic, I assume, around the association. Yeah, you just mentioned how many superstars there are. And it feels like now is the best time, if not ever, to expand the league. Where are we at with expansion? I know Vegas is in Seattle are kind of the two hot cities as far as where new teams will be. What is kind of the latest when it comes to adding teams to the league? And how will that work when that inevitably gets done when it comes to expansion draft and things of that nature? Sure. So, you know, we're still a few seasons away from actual expansion taking place. But as you said, you know, we've been public about the fact that we're looking closely at Las Vegas and Seattle. Las Vegas seems to have an insatiable appetite for sports and entertainment. Several groups now are thinking of even building a brand new arena in town, you know, which, you know, at least the presentation is maybe the most spectacular arena ever. Seattle has a great arena. There's a great NBA tradition there. So we're looking closely at returning to Seattle. You know, I've mentioned maybe down the road, there's Mexico City, largest city in North America, like a burgeoning, huge basketball base, fans in Mexico, large Mexican American population. So, you know, a bunch of different opportunities out there. And, you know, discussions are ongoing about Las Vegas and Seattle right now. I just learned in real time. I think everybody saw it. Mexico City is bigger than New York. Huge. Oh, yeah. It's 22 million people. Oh, my gosh. That's amazing. We need to get down there. That is phenomenal. I did not know that. I apologize for not knowing that. We should get down there. 22 million people. It's electric. That shorter flight from New York to Mexico City than from New York to L.A. So you can see how that could work in our league. Wow. What? I don't think I understand enough. Do you know how far San Francisco is? Forget it. Let's move on. Every time I fly from New York to San Francisco, I'm reminded it's a long way. It's out there. It's like California is far. And then San Francisco is like, actually, let's go a little bit further. Beautiful whenever you get there. But it's far out here. Mexico City. I didn't know they were doing it like that. I had no idea. OK. And they're talking about building a new arena there in Mexico City. So, I mean, that's not in the immediate plans. But down the road, I think there's real potential there. We need to get down to Mexico City. We'll try to do that as soon as possible. I guess that's why the NFL goes there. Oh, yeah. OK. It all makes sense now. Everything's starting to make sense. We should have known this earlier. Last question about making sense. And I know you don't love it every time we bring it up. But the Grinch happened. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Commissioner. We have to bring it up, quite frankly, because, you know, each year that goes on, the NFL kind of continues to, I suppose you could say, encroach on the NBA's turf in terms of Christmas Day games, Christmas Eve games, pretty much just games that week of Christmas. Is there any thought? And I get it. You guys were there first. So, you know, maybe you don't want to do it. But it used to be really special, you know, when you would wake up on Christmas morning and you knew you were just going to have all the stars all day for the NBA. And now you guys are battling with multiple games, you know, that the NFL has. Has there been any thought to, like, maybe move that around so you guys still have kind of the lone spotlight around? There or is it one of those things where, you know, competition is good and we'll go head to head with the NBA on Christmas? Well, you know, in terms of any thought, I mean, of course, that's the NFL's decision to play on Christmas. But competition is good for you. And what you're seeing happening in terms of media, television viewing is and you guys are at the epicenter of it. Live sports continues to separate itself from all their forms of programming. So even as opposed to the old days when maybe the NBA had Christmas Day, that there were lots of other forms of entertainment programming that was outrating us. Now it's, you know, live sports are front and center. So in a way, it doesn't surprise me, of course, that the NFL has shifted to Christmas Day. But I think it's a sort of a rising tide lifts all boats. I think sports fans are coming to their TVs on Christmas Day. You know, there's still a large audience out there for the NFL and for us. So again, I do think the competition keeps you on your toes. You know, I'm a big fan of the NFL's and I have no issue if they want to play on Christmas Day. Good for them. I mean, yeah, but you drop a couple games on Christmas Eve. NFL's got one on Christmas Eve now, too. Oh, no. But also when people come to their TVs, they start, you know, now with social media, they're constantly getting notifications like go to that games, you know, and I'm sure you guys all do it. You're bouncing around a lot. Quad boxing. So the NFL brings a lot more viewers to the television, their televisions as well on Christmas. So I think it's good for the health of the industry. Oh, I didn't even think about the quad box. Well, it's on Netflix. Well, they've got a lot of big changes going on. No quad box on Christmas. All right, maybe on Christmas Eve. Adam, thank you for taking time. Good luck on this upcoming season. Last season was phenomenal, man. We had such a blast covering it, following along. Thank you for the hospitality to you and all your teams. And good luck the rest of the way. We are hoping for no injuries for anybody. Yeah, right. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. And obviously not an epicenter of business. When LeBron was there, I assume there was a lot. Los Angeles out here, you got a lot of business going on. Now he's getting East Coast business as well. LeBron set himself up very well for the future business wise. I appreciate and respect the way he's gone about it. But that Fanatics helicopter taking off with Fanatics. He used to be owner. Is there some sort of right? Yep. So then that gets brought up into the whole. Hey, wasn't there a tree thing happening? Is that true? He stayed at Big Dom's place in the meantime? Hey, Big Dom's not going to tell you nothing. If he was sleeping at Big Dom's, you'd never know about it. I agree. Unless there's a camera around because he jumped in front of it. It's got some headlines around the rest of the NFL. I have seen a lot of Big Dom. Always do. Maybe we need to see more Big Dom this year with how everything's going. I wonder if Big Dom is going to have anything to say about. They're going to. We talked about this last night. J.C. Kelsey very close to the entire situation over in Philadelphia. He said a couple of times like they followed the protocol. Whatever the protocol is, they're going to follow the protocol. THEIR FAMILY. They fall – you got doctors, you got a lot of people that are – this is a Super Bowl MVP franchise quarterback. They love Jalen, too. Like, the organization has given and paid him a lot of money. They're not going to be trying to do anything that is jeopardizing this person's life. So, I think what Kelsey was saying last night is, like, whatever the protocol was for what that was, they followed it exactly. And there is a protocol exactly for that. And our entire take was, like, they're going to investigate all that. Let's assume it was whatever it is. That's scary that that can happen to somebody. I mean, that is – How about them growing Sirianni? Like, he was the one making the decisions. We put out a statement. You want me to read the whole statement right here? It has all this – these are very serious things that I should not be talking about. Because we assume whenever it was announced that Sirianni was going to talk yesterday and we were in the Blue Compass RV that is, like, kind of the production room. Beautiful place. We assume that somebody was coming out with a doctor thing, maybe even stethoscope on there, just to fully, hey, this is the person that did it all. Instead, they got a close-up. Well, Sirianni, he's just sitting there with a mic. It's like, man. I'm a football coach. That's a tough spot to go out there with all the superficial. And then it went – I asked – I texted Dr. David Chow. Sure. And I said, like, hey, can you give me something on this? He goes, very unusual for it to go from superficial to deep. Like, he gave me – but these are not things I should be saying. But, like, just a little bit of a follow-up. He's like, they followed the procedure. I assume they followed the procedure. He was in the NFL for a long time. It's like, the NFL has all these things, like – Step by step. This is how they – Step by step. Step by step. Step by step. This is how this goes. Because there's probably been terrible situations in the past. This one, very new, though. So, I think that's why people are like, I don't think we've ever heard this. With an international trip involved, that's a lot of time on a plane. Quarterback, too. Super Bowl QB quarterback. Yeah, quarterback. It's like, yeah, that is – that's scary. Happy he's okay. Speaking of being okay, DraftKings, he's doing a promotion today that I think – I think after being explained what it is a couple times – A couple times. It took me a couple times to kind of understand this. I think we're going to get a bang for our buck here, okay? We started doing some math here. Now, you have to opt in, and if you're of age, coast to coast, come join us on the best sports book on earth, DraftKings, if you agree to be responsible and not an asshole, okay? Just like Adam Silver said, and there's people out there that hate the gambling. Sports gambling is a part of our existence. They're very mad about it. They are – they hate it. They think it is the – Downfall. Downfall of society, the abomination of sport. There's people that feel that way. I respect that you feel that way. Now, I would like to speak from our perspective. Sports gambling has been happening forever. I'm from Pittsburgh. It has been happening in Pittsburgh. It's been happening in all these towns. It is a – used to be a pretty seedy type operation. Now, there's been some very trustworthy, honorable bookies that have been operating illegally for a very long time who have their group of people that they kind of pay out, and everything's copacetic. But the problems that you see in gambling happening to people who get addicted and spiral out of control, when it was happening – Yeah. When it was happening before all of this was happening, I mean, it was bad. So just like Adam Silver said, I think the proper mindset that we have had is this is going to happen. Now it's regulated, and we've got people looking after you. But you as a human, before you do this, as an adult, which you have to be, you have to just focus and understand you're not going to get rich off of this. This is just strictly to have a little bit more action in the game. So don't be an asshole, okay? Don't be wasting your future on something you think is going to happen, in a basketball game tonight. Can't be doing it. We're just sprinkling here. We're just sprinkling on this to make the game a little bit better. So don't be an asshole for all of us, please. But on that note, responsibly, $10 bet after you opt in on any NBA game tonight. You'll get $1 for every three made for that $10 bet. You can opt into this three times. You can do three $10 bets, $1 for every three-pointer made. Projections, 75 to 76 three-pointers made. So you get $1. $1 in free bets. It should be about 70-ish, maybe even more with the way guys are shooting. Could be the highest of all time. So that's in free bets. So technically, you can do this three times, $30 in bets. Potential projection, 70 in free bets, let alone you hit that bet. So it feels like they are trying to give away money, even though this is a bit wordy, Tone. This feels a bit wordy for the opening day, but I like that we're going to be paying attention to every long-range bomb that falls tonight. Yeah, it's a bit wordy, but it's fun. And like you said, it's not guaranteed that you lose, you don't lose those bets either, the $10 bets that you make on each game if you do choose to. No guarantee that you're going to win those bets either. But no, I mean, if you opt in and you get 12 threes in a game and you get $12 free for whatever bet you're coming forward, yeah, it's a nice little play today. Shout out to DK. Remember, gamble responsibly. Don't be an asshole. Hour two will be on the other side. We have Steve Young joining us. They will not be gambling. No, no, no, no, no, no. Because Chris Tofferson said, we ain't doing that anymore. Smart. And they said, you got it. Going forward, though. Steve Young joins us. What a legend. We'll see you on the other side. Only on Paramount+. Connect us. So whether you're playing, watching, or cheering it on, it takes energy. Visit ittakesenergy.com to learn more. Hello, beautiful people. And welcome back to sunny Southern California on this NBA tip-off Tuesday, October 20th, 2026. Hour two of the program begins now. Football! It is magical. Week six of the NFL season wrapped up. Last night in glorious Santa Clara, California, as the San Francisco 49ers remain unbeaten and beat the Washington Commanders. It's been a fantastic weekend of football as we look ahead to another great series of clashes on a football gridiron that will determine who will live on forever and who will be forgotten about. Who will have to transfer? Who will live on in immortality? Who will be champion? Who will be ass? Every single time, they strap it up. We get closer to the answer. As week six of the NFL season wraps up in this 18-week NFL year. What did Jim Nance call it? The quarter poll here. Yeah. That is certainly where we're living and we're lucky to be doing as such. Had NFL field pass last night as we were on the end zone and the boys were up in the booth, getting a boots-on-the-ground type feel of what the San Francisco 49ers team and their faithful can be. Glorious night in Levi's Stadium. Beautiful stadium and a hell of a game. We got a chance. Catch up with Deebo before it kicked off. We can't wait for him to get back healthy. I think the Niners are excited for him to get back healthy. Mike Evans went down with a little Achilles soreness. Brock Purdy was surgical. Christian McCaffrey was all the way back. And the Niners defense hits people through the ground. They also go helmet to helmet on you and a ref will actually pick up the flag and say, you know what? That's football, baby. That's Fred. I didn't mind that at all. There were certainly some Commanders fans that were not thrilled about the calls. It was a physical football game. It was a fast football game. And it was a classic football game. That we were lucky to be a part of. Butler is here. Deebutt, what did you learn last night? Every hit was big. Yeah, that was the main takeaway from that game. It's a physical, violent ball game. And I think the best illustration of that was Mustafa. We saw him start the game. He came down to safety for the 49ers. Big third down play early. Hit the absolute shite out of Stephon Diggs. And that's how he finished the game with a big-time run stuff. Big-time PBU against Berks at the end as well. But they were setting the tone with the fans. The physicality, defense for the 49ers showed up and sealed the ball game. Yeah, I like what the Niners are doing. Obviously, health is going to be the convo around them until they win a Super Bowl. Last night, they were celebrating the alumni, and we have one of them joining us right now. It's not the toxic table at Boston Corner, Natai Schmick. Good to see you, boys. Good to see you as well. It's not one half of the hammer. Done. Cowboys AP tone. It's not U-tone, even though it's good to see you. Great to see you. Hey, you look great out here in Southern California. Thank you. It's good for my skin. Joining you, it is good for your skin. I heard you've been working out. I heard you, too. You were in the hotel gym. Yeah, yesterday. Not today, but yesterday. Yeah, today would have been tough. It would have been a real display of discipline. Whoever was in there today is a nice travel from San Fran to Southern California. Last night, we said we got a chance to see some San Francisco 49er alumni. Saw Frank Gore. Yes, caught up with Frank. Love seeing Frank Gore. Great to see him. Legends galore. There was Joe Montana. Got a big-time pop. You know who came out last, though? Oh. You know who got the. the final ovation? It's the man who won 10 for 10 on his college game day pitch. Oh. Man is a three-time Super Bowl champion, one of the icons of our sport, and also a legendary businessman. Friend of the program now, from my understanding, which we are honored to say, Steve Young. Yeah, Steve! How you doing, bro? What's up, boys? Dude, good to see you, man. Last night was epic. You getting introduced. To be honest, I've never seen a team intro 300 guys. They had alumni night, And they had maybe 200 guys back felt like it was a big family big community. Does that happen often with the Niners and what is it like whenever you guys all get around each other? It goes back to Eddie DiBartolo remember when I first met him first time I walked into Sam he gave me he gave me a hug gave me a kiss with his beard his heavy beard face scratched my face he's like welcome to the family and that's how it was and then the York family now has been they've re-energized that in the same way and so I think when most for all the alumni around the league this was one that's been very authentic not just do you love your guys but you love your organization just because of how they treated you how they made you feel. Bill Walsh was the first one uh Pat back in the day that talked about players are my partners like I coach you play but we're together we're in it together and it made the spirit of it right it's like he was ahead of his time and I think that we all felt that and now Keena Turner who was the guy like Keena was the guy that the kindest guy in the world but the most vicious guys like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde but he was somebody that through the years worked for the 49ers have been around for 40 years and was beloved and so of all the times when everyone's going to show up it was it was yesterday yeah and it was a great night I think the Niners faithful showed up in a big way we don't get to experience it because I've always lived on the eastern standard time zone five o'clock primetime game on a Monday work day getting to Santa Clara at the beginning we saw a lot of seats and I was like very worried but as you look at the clock it's like man it's five yeah if they have jobs to afford these tickets I mean how the hell are they going to be able that place got very loud in a hurry it was a great environment great atmosphere and I think that team is certainly something they can rally around what did you see last night from the Niners that gets you excited and what are your thoughts on this team as a whole well you know you thought about in the offseason Fred Warner was coming back from injury Nick Bosa's come back from injury and Brock really optimized his game it felt like Fred led the way in the viciousness of the preseason remember when Brock and Fred actually got an argument and in training camp I mean that's two guys that you know you don't think you're getting an argument because that was how vicious and real it was and so they spent September just abusing everybody else who wasn't ready to play as much ready to play and now they find themselves six and oh they still look it's they've got holes they've got injury and they got all kinds of issues but who's gonna you know with the as it's playing out with the Rams now down the Seahawks down a little bit like who's gonna beat the 49ers you can see the Bills the Chiefs there's like pick two or three teams that's it so he's like can they go the distance there's gonna be three or four teams they're gonna have something to say about it and we'll wait till you know it's gonna be a little while till they get there and we'll have to play it out but you gotta love where they are right now I think you judge championship teams down the stretch by you know their defense do they have a championship defense Niners certainly do that and do they have a quarterback well I think so D-Bot has a question for you Steve yeah Brock I've heard he's going from Mr relevant to one of the best quarterbacks in the league just passed Lamar Jackson to have the best passer rating ever what is it about his game specifically that you love when you like do you trust him like he's the most trustworthy guy now you might say well Josh Allen or Patrick Mahomes that's fine but as far as just showing up game to game ready to go play and make good things happen without having to be magical crazy or like just call play and run it there's like that dude's gonna good things are gonna happen in fact when he throws interception you're like what bro what that's that's not in the that does not compute and I think of yesterday just efficient and smart and and and and it feels like you can't stop it first half of that game you're like the 49ers offense looks like they're playing you know taking candy from a baby they made I felt like the commanders were asleep like what are they even playing defense and I think that's not the 49ers I think that's how good and efficient the 49ers are yeah and you talked about the holes the wide receiver thing is crazy what they go through seemingly every year George Kittle being back huge for the success of the team use check being healthy obviously spectacular Trent Williams outrageous their stars galore can they stay healthy is the only question but with Brock Purdy do you have to be 100 healthy I don't think so this guy is elevated his game elevated his team and you said this at BYU about uh Bear Bachmeier which we'll talk about here in a matter of minutes Brock Purdy doesn't get the credit for how active and mobile he is Steve yeah I know you love that obviously one of the greatest athletic quarterbacks of all time Brock can move and the way he navigates the pocket is special he's a real threat I think uh through the air and the ground well he's found that right and I think that's what the game is today you have there's too many free yards for a quarterback to go get the game change when the put when the when they change the rules 10 years ago when they said you can't lead with your helmet it just made the game you know the game jam a lot more space and quarterbacks have jumped into that void and taken those extra yards and now the dynamic dual threat quarterback is the prototype and so Brock had to work that into his game he was so efficient and so smart in processing that he wanted to do is what he's best at sit there and process but there's times when it's not time to process anymore we got to go and there's that and there's free yards to go get as he as he did yesterday in a big third and like 11. he just go get it and uh and I thought that's where I in the off season he optimized the speed he's he's quicker he's a I mean he did some things I don't whoever trained him he did a good job because now he is a he is a threat he's nifty like he's not he's probably not going to outrun you but he is quick and uh and in the pocket you said a pad he's a guy that's really got the the whole awareness part of his game the idea that as I process I'm so present I'm so aware that's what Patrick Mahomes has right it's like he's playing in his backyard you know and that way you compare the two in their presence on the field they both feel like they're playing in the backyard yeah that was what you were great at as well so coming from you means a lot more than any of us D but what were those super speed training things that you and I used to do every off season what what could Brock Purdy have done to get faster or quicker because that's the stuff I did obviously I don't want to give away what I do usually in the NFL it's about staying healthy being nimble being flexible I'm sure he was doing a lot of training off season maybe some explosive lift but plyometrics at least that's the game changer for athletes obviously quarterbacks what are those what are those the box jumps I mean essentially is getting off the ground as quick as possible hitting the ground and getting off exploding obviously jumping them if you see like Miles gear you'll see Miles gear do a 60s box jump but then a land light is a feather so training those kind of small muscles quick firing quick twitches uh that's what Brock Purdy I think did a lot of in the off season yeah Steve you saw me and you I ran a route for you up on the set I'm still doing these pliers I'm still doing these pliers yeah I know you you look you left Provo the other day and it was like dude's in shape but I said a lot of the things about you they're really good but one thing I heard is that dude's in shape so yeah I mean that's just that's just what I heard right I just hanging around town getting my ice cream you know whatever else was going on like a free ice cream in the stadium it's like Pat's in shape man thank you I'm happy to hear that man because I don't get to hear these things obviously these are happening I should be your bag man I got you I got you should be everybody's man brother you're the man uh 10 for 10 on your pics outrageous especially with how insane the weekend was congratulations I think Lee Corso did this on his last day I think his last game day he went perfect this is such an abnormality in college football world it was great to see how confident you were it was also great to see you embrace the way you were by the entirety of BYU did you enjoy that what did you what were your expectations going into game day and man congrats perfect picks throughout the entire day I loved it I was I love being you know you guys guys having me on it was uh it was this has been building for a while you think about all this all the schools that might struggle in the NIL era where you have to pay people wait we're gonna pay our players and we're gonna pay them how much is that BYU would struggle with that but they we've jumped in and we've said to ourselves look we're in the big 12. we got to compete and if we're going to compete you know jump into the NIL mess and find Kalani Satake who is like beloved and the players stay for him they hang out take less money to be with him it's like that's the spirit of what BYU's building I think the the campus feels and you felt it on Saturday morning when they camped out since Tuesday people were like just rabid livid I mean rabid about just the love of what they're building what it feels like the you know and we're in the in the upper echelons we're not punching above our weight anymore like some people have us number one right now and legitimately like we have a quarterback that really like what are you he's one of one bro he's like who is this guy yeah so for me to come on Saturday morning jump into the what I felt growing and uh and you know like I said there's only five squads that have more wins than us in the last six years that's Georgia Alabama Ohio State Notre Dame uh and I want to say Oregon like that's it we are like that next is us we've been we've been building and so now all of a sudden I think Saturday was it was like for everyone else in the nation maybe a little bit of a coming out party but like overnight success over many many years and I feel like we're in the thick of it that's super fun had some tough moments last year you know you lose the Texas Tech down there Bear gets hurt you have the the big loss the all those experiences though I think put Bear to where he was this year I woke up I didn't know who I was going to pick going in to Saturday I woke up and felt that atmosphere and I thought to myself about what Bear had been through watch a couple of his I watched a highlight reel Bear Bachmeier before I I left the bus in the morning and I was like I'm picking BYU then I heard you We're doing your fifth year. I didn't even know you were potentially eligible still. That really just hammers it on top. That was a special day there in Provo. That was a special game day for us. I want to let you know that. I know that you know the BYU community, and you know the energy and the hype around the football team and the organization and everything around Provo. You lifted my hand as if I won some championship. Just so absurd. You're like Joe Frazier, Muhammad Ali. As you lifted my hand, I was like, okay. We're in it. I did it. I did it. I thought that was funny, too. I'm like, oh, I don't know if I was supposed to do that. We were living there pretty good, though. We were living it. We were living it. You know, look, when you talk about Bear, you talk about these unique people on our squad, and I think that's what Kalani does. It gives them the space to be themselves. And then how good is this guy? That morning I said, look, I thought Trinidad Chandler was the best player in the nation. I thought he was the most. He's talented. He's going to go prove it. But by tonight, you're going to be talking about Bear Bachmeier because he's the kind of kid that he's ready. He can grow into it. And how do you define him? What do you say he looks? Who does he? Someone said Tim Tebow. I'm like, come on, man. Like, yeah, Tim, but, like, the dude can rip it down the field. Like, he can do this. He can, like, how good of a passer can he become? Can he become a pro at number 47? Could he jump into a pro squad and wear number 47 and do that? I love. I love Bear Bachmeier wearing 47 speaks to Kalani and what BYU is. So I think it's a lot of cool stuff. Fun day in Provo. Legendary day. And we're very grateful that you joined us. And before we get back to some NFL conversation, I need to know, what do I need to be looking at when I'm making my pick? I know you guys, Mormons, not allowed to bet anymore, but I still am responsibly. Obviously, we're all going to do it responsibly. Christofferson said no more for the LDS community. But we could still do it. What are you looking at when you're making these picks? Hey, Steve, I don't know how closely you follow college football. I follow it. Obviously. But predicting college football, impossible. It is impossible, Steve. And especially five of the top seven teams lost on Saturday. First time ever you go 10. It's absurd what you did. I hope you know that. Look, I think what I tend to do is look at who's coaching. To me, the NFL today is really built off of the innovative offensive minds that are just ahead of the game. You know? The Pacquiao shanties, the Sean McVeigh's, the Andy Reid's, the Sean Payton's. And now, more of those guys' trees are infiltrating all over the league. And I see it in college as well. I mean, we have Aaron Roderick, who's our offensive coordinator. You can see his dynamic, unique, even the trick plays. You call them trick plays. These cool plays they come up with week to week. It's like, to me, if I was going to gamble, I'd bet on the guys that are calling those plays, like Will Stein at Kentucky. Like, why? They're not going to win. They're not going to win every game. But in big games, they tend to, like Lane Kiffin, they're innovative. They're not stuck. They're, like, looking for the next thing. And they get their players energized around that. And so, I tend to believe that, you know, people are ascending. When I say Kentucky's ascending, I think they're ascending because their coach is innovative. They've got the players to do it. And I'm going to bet on that. I'm going to do that going forward. I should never get one wrong. That's good news. I'm very happy that I get a chance to do that. All right. Yeah. Thank you for spreading the game to me. I might have a perfect week every single week going forward. Boom. Let's act accordingly. Yeah. Okay. Let's act accordingly as we go. Hopefully, Steve will continue to help us. You just mentioned a name right there about being a great play caller in Sean Payton. A lot of questions about that right now. Tone has a question for you, Steve. Yeah, Steve, I do. And you obviously had one of the greatest play callers of all time in Bill Walsh. And you mentioned Sean Payton there and the conversation about play calling and being innovative. Were you surprised this year when Sean Payton gave up the play calling? And how big of a deal do you think it is for Bo? Knicks to now have Sean Payton back in his ear moving forward for the season? So, it's interesting. There are – there's comparisons to Bill. Bill would give people other – you know, he loved empowering his assistant coaches. Like Mike Hongren went to Green Bay. He gave him everything he knew, boxed it up in a repository of all the speeches, all the installations, everything paper-based, audio-based, video-based, and gave it a box that says, go be great. That's the spirit of how he thought about it. And I think that Sean has the spirit. I've talked to Sean about this. Even though he doesn't necessarily coach under Bill Walsh, he has a picture of Bill Walsh who he spent the summer with when he took the job in New Orleans. And it really kind of – he sees him as a godfather of his – how he sees it. And so, I think in the empowerment, Sean wants to empower his young assistants. That's just how – that's the spirit of Bill Walsh. But there's also a time and a place. You know, if it doesn't work perfectly, Bill will be the first one to say, look, bro, you need to take a break. I'm coming back in. And it'll be a huge thing because, you know, sometimes, people need two iterations of it or three iterations. Look at Liam Cohen. Look at people that are coming through that kind of tree. And, like, they – you know, you're like, who are these guys? And it's because they have this – they've seen it. They know what it looks like. And so, I think Sean taking it back right now is like, look, we're in a tight spot. We've got to get better, and I know I can do it. And I appreciate him doing that. I know Sean doesn't want to, like, abuse or do anything to his assistant coaches. He doesn't want – he doesn't want to show them up as one. But there's a time and a place. And Bill had a sharp knife, too. Man, when I would meet with Bill Walsh, he'd pull me up to his office, and you thought the meeting went really well. Like, yeah, I think it went really well. And then you got blood coming down your side. You're like, how did I – why am I bleeding? Because the dude was subtle. Like, he was careful. Like, he did it. He had a lot of different ways to do it. And you think about who I was coaching with after that. Mike Shanahan was Kyle's dad. Mike Shanahan was all of that. Everything that Kyle is, Mike was. And Kyle got it from him. So, like, the spirit of what's happened in Denver, I think, is righteous. Right? It's like, it's not some coach saying, like, you suck. I'm going to take it back. It's like, look, you're not – it's not going well. I'm not going to blame you for it. But I know I got to stand for this. And I think the Broncos will thrive. I just – look, there's – you said to me, look, Steve, you can go back and play. You get your fifth year, right? You can go back and play anywhere you want. I'd run down the street first to Kyle. But I'd go to Sean McVay, Sean Payton, and Andy Reid. Like, I would sprint to them. Andy Reid was my JV. JV coach at BYU, if you can believe it. Wow. That's crazy. So – but those are the guys. Those are the innovators. Those are the guys that were innovating back when the rule changes in 2018. They innovated, and now people caught up with them. You know what they did? They innovated again and again and again. And that's why I love them. And I think Sean's that guy. I can't wait to see some play that Patrick Mahomes and the boys run. And Andy Reid's going to come out and say, last year in this was Steve Young in JV BYU back in the – because it does feel like what is old is new again with now offensive systems. We're seeing it in college. We're seeing it in the NFL. It feels a little bit old school with the mix of the modern NFL. Now, follow-up question about the Sean Payton, Bo Nix, Davis Webb thing. Allegedly they changed some terminology going into it. I think I saw a report that maybe some terminology got changed to either make Davis Webb more comfortable. So now they're bouncing back to the Sean Payton terminology. Jay Glazer was reporting with Bo Nix. Young quarterback now who has – He has Sean Payton as the head coach. Sean Payton picked Bo Nix to draft him because how much he loved him directly. Moved on from Russell Wilson. Ate, what, $60 or $70 million in dead cap handpicks. Then Davis Webb is the guy, to your point, wants to give a guy's opportunity. They changed the terminology. We assume Bo and Sean are going to get back cooking. Is that what you assume? We should all assume that naturally that that's going to take place at some point here? Yeah. Because, look, look at his track record. Go talk to Drew Brees. Like Drew talks about Sean Payton, like the dude. Again, it's innovation. It's like what's next and what – how can we put – look at some of the play calls yesterday with Kyle on Monday Night Football. Just like you don't even – if you don't pay attention, you don't notice it. It's like simple little change-ups, little wrinkles, little cool little things that end up with free 10 yards over and over and over again with no risk. That was what Bill Walsh started. It's like the West Coast offense is built off of, hey, let's extend our rushing game, which is very risk-free other than the occasional fumble. Let's extend it. Let's extend it. Let's extend it to the passing game, quick passing game, risk-free essentially. And that's what's now happening. Like half of the completions that the best quarterbacks in the league today have are commodities. Like you should go 15 of 30 without even waking – you should not even get out of bed. The only difference is can you go 21 out of 30 or 24 out of 30 because these guys that they're – these guys that I'm speaking of are that innovative week to week. And so I fully expect Sean Payton to get back on track. And he's one of the guys that I would – if I could play, I'm like, I'll run there. That's fine with me. I like that you're watching these offenses going, jeez, that'd be really nice just to – Oh, well, hey, Pat. Pat, let's be super honest now. Anyone who played before the rule changes sees today's game as a quarterback and says, put me in coach. That is awesome. Like this is – this is so much fun. It is the era. Like – and to be prolific today is like – it's the era of the quarterback. It's like you've given all the rules. To make them feel like empowered and be great. And so that's why I want them all to have an Andy Reid or a Kyle Shanahan. I want them all to have – there's not 32 guys like this, unfortunately. And so I want them to – I want more and more guys to feel that. You know, look at what Sam Darnold, when he came to San Francisco, and he goes to Minnesota, Kevin. Kevin's one of those guys, right? It's like, you know, whole careers are made if you can get to one of these places. And it is the era of the quarterback. And the running quarterback. That's why I love – Oh, yeah. Look, Pat, I played all those years ago and the game came to me like this is my game. Hey man I want to go like this is how I want to roll like I got back rip it be efficient and then just start running around eating up yards. Oh yeah it's a good game right now. You with that little I mean you could say oh my now they might punch that shit out nowadays. They're getting a little bit more hands on that. No no no. You just keep pump faking all the way down the field. You talked about these offensive coordinators but the players themselves in this modern era have a lot more they have to deal with. A lot of their teenagers you got obviously social media and everybody either gassing you up or trying to kill you. So I think finding the right stuff within the players a big deal. But has a question about that. Yes these franchises are dependent on these these quarterback the conversation is always about quarterback development. I want to kind of ask you what was the biggest thing that turns you into a good quarterback to an absolutely great quarterback. You talked about some of these play callers. We see the continuity is not really there anymore because they're going to get hired after a couple of years and we see flash of quarterbacks be good for maybe two or three years. But that sustained greatness. What was the biggest thing to help you get to that point your career. That's interesting. You know you do play in great quarterback you need a lot of help. That's just a fact. I don't care who you are. Patrick Roman needs a lot of help. Like you need obviously you need protection all this obvious stuff. But what you really need is a play called innovative play call. I keep saying that but that's like that's part of the connection. And once you have that and it was Mike Shannon turned to me in 1992. He said look bro you're you're in a game. Your game is great. But. What I'm going to do now is I'm going to not call plays to protect you anymore. I'm going to call plays and you protect me like I'm going to let it rip. I'm going to do crazy stuff. I'm going to add you. I'm going to empower you to now you control it. You figure out whether it works or not. You know it's like the empowerment is what really changed for me. And I remember him when he said that our game just my game took off when I think of Jay Daniels yesterday where it was fourth and three. They call a play and they have a call for you know false start or something. He's rolling out his fourth downs like bro like if you're empowered you're thinking about putting the ball into play in the end zone somehow on fourth down he throws it away. And I think there's a process of empowerment that happens over time where you've got to get the what happened in the week before when James I got the last play of the game and it's like how do I do is like you you can't play great quarterback unless you're running it. And someone behind you who's really cool recalling great plays like but you have to run it and until that happens you're going to be playing catch catch up because you're not you're not really the general on the field you always have to feel John want to be weird about it but you have to be able to run it all the last play of the game. Coach said something doesn't make sense to me. I don't want to run I can't run out of time I got to take care of this like it's it's about empowerment and the coaches that don't that call plays to make sure the quarterback doesn't screw up never get there and the quarterback never gets there. It's the it's the innovative coaches. They're the ones that see greatness in somebody says look bro you run with it you do this and I think that was the biggest change for me. What was that dark night had to take the rope off when trying to jump out of the pit. You know you got to you got to you got to be able to fall part of the fear to go where you need to head to Steve. We're going to chase in you forever brother. We appreciate you so much for joining us and being so kind to us. I told you this whenever I when I saw you were such big fans man. Like we love you. We love you. I love chopping it up with you guys. Every time it's fine. We're going to do that. Yeah we're going to do that. We got a lot of hours on TV as you know Steve we are definitely going to call you. We got some you got some places to fill. I got you. Yes we do. And filling it with Hall of Famer Steve. Any time you get in the gym like we got some time to fill a game or ring me up I'm there. God I love you. You are the man. We appreciate you. That's Steve Young. Ladies and gentlemen. He's been genuine. Yeah that's why he was on here. He told me that on Saturday when he came up I was like hey man I've only got a chance to talk to you like a couple of times briefly. We are huge fans of yours. Like we loved you on TV. I like the way you operate outside of football like he is doing his own thing outside of football never defined strictly by the sport still loves the sport still represents for the sport. And I loved him on TV and I thought he was great. He's got 10 for 10 this week. I love how passionate he is. Always talk about quarterback player. The thing that sticks out the most when it comes to Steve Young covering football was when he made that comment about Lamar Jackson like hey this quarterback needs a sophisticated past. You know after Lamar had already won an MVP or won a Heisman in college and you saw it throughout different coordinators him become Brock Purdy just surpass him. That was Lamar as the greatest passer ring ever. So just seeing that but how passionately he talks about it you know from the coaching standpoint dealing with great play callers in his career seeing the career that he had to hear it got hear it from him. It just means more I love that he's still that invested too because when we went to ESPN he was he left he was a part of the we're moving on from. We were getting blamed for Steve Young no longer which is so stupid I can't even fathom not having a clue about how the business works so much so even if you cover the business not knowing how the business crazy just to think about it all. But we were getting blamed for like Steve Young not being on TV anymore. So I was scared to death that Steve Young was going to hate us. Then we run into him Steve's like I love what you do. I'm like you don't hate us. Thank God. We are huge huge fans of Steve and him going 10 for 10 crazy press on that Saturday. I mean that's an absurd thing. First time ever five of the top seven teams in the country lose. There was upsets across the board little on a ten and a half point one at home for BYU Notre Dame to kind of nightcap that entire thing with hockey six and a half point dogs everywhere. I mean it was just an absurd Saturday and Steve Young says ah see let me go ahead and get this one for you. They set a record 130 decibels a Tennessee Alabama on Saturday which is I believe a world record. OK so the day the Chiefs had the loudest before that. I know there had been a couple of different people I think Seattle was in the middle. Seahawks fans were in the mix. I think the Chiefs were in the mix because I think it said loudest stadium in the world out there in the home of the Chiefs. Now it's Tennessee. That's the eighth largest stadium venue in the world. How big it is I think it was the biggest. And then other schools have kind of built up. I think they've built it up around it or whatever. They got some really Bama Bama's offense too. They said during the game nobody on that team at least on the offensive side had played in Tennessee. So can you imagine that being your first experience it sets the records for how loud it is tough environment to play and makes sense. That's why college football is spectacular is the environments the pageantry the tradition and Steve Young get a chance to go back there and experience it was cool to watch to like watch it let alone the great great was the first one on the field. Yeah. And the game people are saying that's why they didn't review the clock. Right. Steve Young was out there saying we would stay for Steve was out there to call it a game ball game. How did he do last night on TV was good to see. I don't know. I mean I I couldn't get over him talking about how Levi's was a dump and that was a beautiful stadium. Beautiful. What do you mean he got on the bus. He said that is one of the worst stadiums in the NFL. Stay with Steve said yeah big hunk of concrete. Yeah it is. I mean we walked through a tunnel that was from the outside definitely a big hunk of concrete. I get that. But then you get inside there. Oh beautiful beautiful for Phil two boards. Both sides had the biggest jumbo truck. Now this place obviously going to be talked about and is one of the grand standards of gold standards of stadiums. Every stadium is trying to build what so far is your stupid decision not to make it a dumb because you still get rain in there without a doubt that seems like a little bit delays seems like an artist made a decision that wasn't in reality was in theory. But you get a day like this pretty sweet which is most days out here. But they got the L.E.D. board across the entire top of this thing. Inside the suites are sick. There's AK cameras. I mean it is for the newer stadiums so much better than the older stadiums. Yeah. So 2014 although that's 12 years ago that's a very new stadium in the NFL Levi Stadium was bumping last night. OK let's talk about some of the things happening around the NFL. Big news coming from the Seattle Seahawks. There's a possibility that you're going to see Zach Scharbonne back with the Seahawks. Now Kenneth Walker going to the Kansas City Chiefs huge huge hole in the Seattle Seahawks running back room especially whenever the other one that they had so they had two ones last year. Scharbonne and Kenneth Walker I think Scharbonne got the start usually. Then Kenneth Walker would come in. They would split reps. Kenneth Walker still a stud. Scharbonne gets hurt down the stress down the stretch. Kenneth Walker takes it over comes Super Bowl MVP. Now he's Belkow for the Chiefs. Seattle Seahawks haven't had their Belkow Scharbonne. He is. He is potentially returning. That's gigantic for the Seattle Seahawks team who has been without a run game basically and without one of their stars pretty much. And now everybody's judging if they can do it again it's like let's see whenever they're healthy maybe when Scharbonne is back. Yeah he's a big time playmaker. He's a touchdown scorer. A lot of people a lot of fantasy people a lot of prop bettors hated him because he was still or take Kenneth Walker's touchdowns. He's a big time playmaker and they drafted at the position with Darien Price to try to replace Kenneth Walker and he hasn't been great he's been banged up. But I think that offense even though they have a new play called they're built on a run game and a play. In fact even with Jackson Smith and Jigba last year winning the offensive player of the year they were like I think bottom third when it came to pass attempts. So they're built on that run game and then creating big chunk plays down the field and obviously having a phenomenal defense. So I'm sure he will be a big boost to his offense once he gets back to your point like they're the exact same offense. It's the same five offensive lineman is the same tight ends. Now Charbonne comes back and then yeah Darien Price has been out hurt. He's supposed to be back in the next two weeks. so hopefully if they get those two back they can share the carries all five offensive Lyman, it is a new offense coordinator, so that is a big change in that situation, but hopefully they can get that run game going again because it feels like it's something that Darnold needs to help with the turnovers. Yeah, not just Darnold. Any, yeah. Every quarterback needs a good run game. You lose the Super Bowl MVP, you hope that you have another guy that you had. You made the decision to stick with Charbonnet. That was the decision that was like, we can't pay Kenneth Walker, and we got Charbonnet. Hasn't been healthy. He gets back on the field. Would be huge for the Super Bowl champs. We're a little bit more than 24 hours removed from a massive decision being made in Indianapolis. Head coach of the Colts had this to say about general manager Chris Ballard being relieved of his duties just yesterday. Long time coming, says a lot of Colts fans. I assume inside the building they also had similar thoughts. Here's what Chris Ballard, oh, okay. We're looking, we're looking, we're pulling. Shane Steichen said it's a shitty part of the business. He actually swore. Yeah, he said. S-H-I-T-T-Y, part of the business. Shane Steichen, everybody in that building knew this was probably coming, at least at some point, going into the season. All Carly Ursae and all the Ursae family said, and Shane Steichen and Chris Ballard said, was this is a heightened amount of urgency. This is the year we need to do everything. They pay a quarterback. They pay a wide receiver. They pay the running back. Offensive lineman Quentin Nelson has been paid a couple times. He's about to be gone. On the defensive side, we've paid multiple people. We've invested multiple people. This year, there was a heightened sense of urgency. Do you think in the building they knew that the heads would, if you go 2-11 in your last 13, people are probably going to get fired? They knew that, right? Yeah, but I would say outside of 2-11, because obviously you lose your quarterback, you don't expect to lose all the games down the stretch. You've got to be competitive. They weren't. They didn't find a way to win. But coming into this year, having all those things in place, once you got to the point where you lost to the Tennessee Titans, the winless team, they were in the shite division for however long, you lose that game, I think even outside the building, you knew heads would roll. I talked to a former GM last night before the game, and he was like, yeah, as soon as that happened, I kind of knew somebody was getting fired. And it wasn't the coach. It was the general manager. But for the coach and everybody else in that building, it's definitely heightened now. Everybody knows, hey, week in and week out, which this is the life in the NFL, you're playing for your job. So it's kind of signaling to an offseason where it's going to be a full rebuild when you fire the GM midseason. Oh, yeah. So. So, Shane, I'm sure he's – yeah, I'm not surprised he's letting it rip a little bit. Jim Nance said he got a lot of good pieces they're going to keep, and I respect Jim Nance. But if this is a full rebuild, some decisions are going to have to be made very soon. Yep. I think we're closer to the situation, so maybe we talk about it a little bit more than everybody else. Who do they play this week? Great team. Because that's kind of the – if they lose this week, then I think it is you can go ahead. They play the Vikings this week. So that's going to be – Yeah, that's going to be tough. DJ Revenge game, yeah, I can see it. Oh, yeah. I can smell it. Don't do this again, Conman. But let's be honest. They're not going to let Dodds make any decisions. Well, that's what I'm saying, though. But somebody has to. Harley's going to – it's going to have to be Harley. So if we decide full rebuild, we have to do a lot of things. Oh, yeah. Because this has been – this has been a roster that's been pieced together over a decade. Normal contracts, four years. People have had – Full families developed in Indianapolis under the Ballard era. People have gotten paid multiple times in the Ballard era. The salary cap has been used multiple times by the quarterback position and by the rest of the roster. So if we're doing a full rebuild, I mean, that's a lot of gigantic moves that have to be made. And they have to take place now because we've got nothing in the draft that's coming up because of all the moves that we made. I think this is an interesting little predicament for the Indianapolis Colts to find out who the hell, how the hell, and what the hell they're going to do. To try to do this rebuild if that is the way in which they're going. If we're hanging on to a couple of pillar players that we're spending a lot of money to and telling the next general manager and next head coach if that ends up happening. Like, hey, this is what you've got to deal with and work around. Certainly could happen if you're able to just change the culture quickly. But there's a lot of shit they're going to have to do. And these are big moves that are going to have to be made. A lot of negotiating. A lot of moving and shaking that's going to happen. We've all seen draft day. There's a couple of GMs out there that are going to try to take advantage. If Dodds is doing this and he feels a personal connection. Because him and Dodds are going to have to do this. Him and Chris Ballard have made every decision. Is he going to be willing to do whatever? I mean, it is. First hires for the Dodders, too. It's obviously going to have to hire a new GM. But you're going to have to, we assume, unless Shane turns it around and they're going to unbelievably run. New head coach. Completely new front office. So you're talking about changing the culture. Now being the acting owner, these are going to be those first kind of huge decisions. You assume Dodds has some sort of, hey, you're good to go. Okay. You need to go and make moves. And this isn't going to be easy. Dodds is deciding. I would hope that. That's what I'm saying. As a paying season ticket holder. This guy's the one deciding. Who would be? Peyton Manning got a call, allegedly. Sure. So I'm being told that. I think Dan Patrick reported that. He heard that Peyton Manning had already gotten a phone call about this entire thing. Is he an advisor? A consultant? Does he have enough time in his life to take on a task of building the Indianapolis Coliseum? Is he getting a percentage of the team? Doesn't he already have that in Denver? I think it was talked about. I don't know if the Walters. Could he come in a Matt Ryan role? Like, would he come in and become the president? They would have to pay him. I was going to say, does he want to do that? Exactly. His son's just about to get into his high school football career. Like, I think that's, yeah, it's a pipe dream. That'd be awesome. And who would it be? Who are you? I mean, these are some gigantic decisions that are going to have to be made. You have to do it now, though. Like, because, yeah, it's never a good time to rebuild. But you can't just kick this down the road. Because the fans are done with it. Like you said. Like, it's like you're on the verge here of, like, really having people being like, you know what? Enough of this shit. I'm not coming on Sunday. I'm done with it. Whoa, whoa. We're still filled a lot. We're seeing the same product year in, year out. Like, you just, it's never a good time to do it. You have to do it now. They opened the door with Fire and Ballard. Like, it's time to rebuild. It's time to do it. You haven't won the division in, what, 13 years? Like, you can't just, I mean, that's insanity. Just doing the same thing over and over. And thinking your fortunes are going to change. What's going on in that brain over there, Connor? Because you're kind of. Well, no, that's why I think, to Ty's point, you do have to do it now. And that's why you tell Dodds, like, hey, you go down the list. Okay? I think Nance was right with, like, JT, who's young. And he's got multiple years left on his deal. Dan Jones, he has multiple years left on his deal. Those guys are probably staying just because you could do something with them. Who can we get a one on it? We need a one. No one's trading for Dan Jones. I don't. Yeah, no one. That's what I mean. No one's going after him. I think Jonathan Taylor. You could. You could go get a one. But what do you need a number one pick or first round pick for? You need a quarterback. No matter what of the future. That's where rebuilds start and begin. Because you have Dan Jones for the next two years. Because he's not going anywhere. You probably just punt on the first round this year. But what you could do is, Quentin Nelson, he's definitely not getting a contract extension. Whoa, whoa, whoa. We don't know. Quentin Nelson's one of our pillars. Because you can get actual top tier picks for him. He just went for a second and a fifth. So you can definitely get at least a second out of Quentin Nelson. But that's where it becomes highest bidder. That's where you have all these teams. The New England Patriots, half their offensive line is out. I know they would give up at least a second for Quentin Nelson. Are you talking about our boys up there? I would hope that they're talking. Landon Dickerson just came out and said, like, I don't even know if the frickin' Eagles want me. Go ask Howie and ask someone else. I think there's a lot of teams that are going to be circling for offensive linemen as the trade deadline gets close. So you go down the list. Aside from Quentin Nelson, Cam Bynum's in year two of a three-year deal. You would think that he would be another guy that you would consider moving on from. But you're not going to get the quarterback. To lose to Selly's? I know. I'm sorry. You're going to have to search for that on a different team's social media account to figure out how he did it. But, again, there's just only a couple pieces. It's going to take three. It's going to take three years. If he gets traded, I'm not looking at another one of his celebrations. They're awesome. Yeah, it'll hurt too much. He brings a lot of juice to the team. He's been great for the Colts. There's so many guys on our team that are good, which is why it's so spectacular that we're not spectacular. Gnarly that we're 2-11 in our last 13 because we have so many good players. How are we so bad? Good California word, by the way. Gnarly? Yeah. Yeah, bro. Colts are a problem. I think they can still go 13-4. No, they can't, actually. I don't think so. They cannot. That's my next guarantee. The Colts don't go through. Oh, you're Dan Orlowski now with Gary? No, I'm not because I'm 0-1 and Dan O fucking hits on every single one of his. But actually, they are screwed. And this is a multiple-year thing. This isn't going to happen next year. They're not going to have a first-round pick. To join us with all the breaking news, is a man who knows it all. Has ruffled some feathers along the way. He knows what needs to be said. He knows when to just kind of cook something and drag you along. Ladies and gentlemen, Shamshrani. Shamshrani. He understands it now. Yes, he does. Good suit, Shamshrani. Looking sharp, Shamshrani. Right out of Dan Orlovsky's closet. Yeah, baby. I got motivated. It's a good brown, baby. You look great. You look great. You look unbelievable. Good to see you. Can you hear us in there? I can hear you guys well. Pat, I saw you in your suit. That's right. College game day. You wore a tie. That's right. My mom was stunned. Really? My mom's a big Pat McAfee fan. She was shocked you were in a tie. Well, tell your mother I said thank you. Tell your mom I said thank you. I didn't know how to tie it. Shout out to Brother Howard. Desmond Howard tied that tie. That was actually Kirk Herbstreet's tie. So it was a late decision. It was good teamwork. I was going to wear the short sleeve. With the tie? No. No jacket? Yeah. With the. Like the accountant look? Cool thing. Like the Latter-day Saints look? Oh, sure, sure, sure, sure. A knock on the door. Yeah, of course. Accountant do, though. Yes, certainly. It's been a while since one's knocked on my door. Okay. Always open to those discussions, by the way. Should be. I think open-minded is the right way to handle everything. Let's talk about your mind, Shams. NBA tip-off Tuesday here. Congratulations on making it to another season. Senior NBA insider for ESPN. Let's get it. Big storyline right now. LeBron James, a member of the Sixers. That feels rather. Important and dynamic. But is the Eastern Conference now the heavy conference as opposed to the Western Conference like it's been for the last decade or so? I saw Adam Silver on your show, and I thought he made some good points. I don't know if it's stacked, but there's a lot more interesting storylines. Kawhi being in Toronto. The first game of today's opening day, Boston-Detroit. I think those are two teams that people aren't sure. Are these two teams true contenders, or are they kind of that second-tier teams? And then opening night games, you have. You have Knicks and Sixers. With the Knicks, you know they're going to be legit. We saw them do it. I think with Philadelphia, I'm curious to see. There's like three things that I'm. The layers that are going to be paramount to their season. I think the rotations, because you think about that starting lineup. All those guys, to some degree, need the ball in their hands. And so how are they going to distribute that? Rotations. How are they going to stagger their minutes? Health. My understanding is LeBron James, Joel Embiid, the hope is within the first few weeks of the season, limit them to around 30 minutes a game. And then. And then the third thing is sacrifice. And Joel Embiid said the other day, there's no sacrifice. Like, we're not here to sacrifice. Everyone's going to do their thing. But I. Sorry, I have to say it. There's going to be sacrifice. There's going to be someone or some players. They're done. that are going to sacrifice. They're done? Joel Embiid's already saying he's not sacrificing for LeBron James. Joel gets it. Uh-oh. He's been great. Oh, Sixers regret. He's got a gold medal. They're cracked like that bell already. He understands it. You know what it reminds me of? Klay Thompson. When the Warriors got Kevin Durant, you know what Klay Thompson said? Like, he's just like, no one's changing their game. Everyone's good. Well, they clearly had to change their game. But Klay Thompson's different than Joel Embiid. But how will everyone mesh? I am curious. It's going to take Philadelphia some time. And then, obviously, the nightcap tonight, Oklahoma City, San Antonio, we know both of these teams. They're going to be in it at the end. We saw you putting some shots up with Lethal. And I want to let you know, it was nice to see that you understand it now. How do the lads treat you now that they know you have a certified J? Do you get a little bit more respect amongst the NBA rosters? How do you feel your positioning is as senior NBA insider now versus maybe a couple years ago? Because there was a tough transition process. I don't know if I've ever seen Woj get wet from deep. Does this help or hurt you in the biz? And shout out to Lethal. Well, you know, I think you can kind of look at me. I think I give the look of a shooter. But you never know. Outside of shooting, no athleticism, you know, no defense, shaky handles. But I can definitely shoot. I'm not going to lie. I can shoot it. I just need rhythm. And, you know, the celebrity game was not my best show. Yeah, well, you and your coach. Limited minutes. I would say limited minutes. A jobbed. But by the way, Taco Fall, first player in NBA history to sign a rostered NBA contract after playing the celebrity game. He was my teammate. We won the game. And I don't know. I feel like, you know, winners win. So Taco Fall is a winner. Okay. Two-way contract with the Sixers. We wrap up here. We wrap up here on ESPN. Do we have a schedule change? Not at NBA Today. No, it's gotta be 3. It's gotta be 3 o'clock, bro. They wouldn't do that to Big Schrags. The game starts at 3. Oh, no, yeah. You're on NBA Today right now. Yep. Get in there. Get in there. Break something. Break something. I love you guys. Hey, we'll see you. We'll see you in there. You're the man, ladies and gentlemen. Anybody know that? Help! Help! A little sense of urgency. We'd like to thank everybody for the setup here. Thank you so much. Thank you. Unbelievable day. Shots so far being a great backdrop. Way to go. Beautiful. To the boys in the truck. Good work, boys. Good show. Good work, boys. Good show, boys. Nice in there. Yeah, it's very nice. This setup was remarkable. That's right. That's right. Good to see you. We beat the shit out of you guys. Okay. He can't hear you. Can't hear you. I can't hear him either. Yeah, but you don't need to be saying that. He should at least be able to hear you to be able to respond. You just kind of talked a little bit of shit to him. Patriots beat the shit out of the Raiders. You know what? I respect it. You know what? I know. I got to respect it. But you know what? Huh? 2001, you're cheating. Oh! He got you. He got you. We still got that, but that was a bumble. Classic fans living in the past. I'm going to let you know. What's his name, the ref, last night? Arliss? Adrian Hill. Adrian Hill. There it is. Arliss is the PR person for the Los Angeles. Thanks for being here. Shout out. Adrian Hill, back off of suspension. People are not happy with the things he did last night. I loved it. A lot of calls last night. A lot of flags. A lot of picked up flags on clear calls, too. I mean, there was clear calls where he was like, not for the good of the game. We're putting that one away. Screw it. We got to do this primetime football. People expect football, right? Pick it up. Well, it was clear. What was he supposed to do? That's what we thought. Just pick it up and keep it moving. You ref your game, Adrian. That's right. And he will. And I like, you know what? After me, I'm going to pick it up. I'm going to be meeting him and talking to him and watch him ref last night live in person. He had no other option. I have to get pushed down and say, hey. Yeah. You know what I mean? I still think there's a chance that he got concussed and he thinks we're playing like 1987. So, like, that's why last night. That's illegal. Oh. There's a chance. He did come back quick. Yeah. Did he go through protocol? That might be what the suspension was. Maybe. Maybe they hid the concussion protocol with a ref. That would be. Through the suspension would be like, we can't let anybody know that our ref's brains are getting. No. Well, we actually lost a ref for the season. Yeah, for the season. You guys saw it. And then when he went down, the other ref. Oh, I see. Taking his head off. Taking his knee. I like that. That's your teammate. NFL umpire Larry Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a non-contact leg injury in London. Smith appeared to slip while receiving a football and then his right leg folded back underneath of him. It was like out of a movie when they draw, like, a body after it gets squished. So, we'd like to let Larry Smith know. Godspeed, brother. Peace. That was a wet, slippery turf. I was going to say that damn grass over here in London. Yeah. International services are certainly something. We'll keep our eye on France this weekend. All right. Be a friend. Tell a friend something nice. It might change their life. We're going to send it together. We are so thankful for all of you. We called a Monday night football game last night. I mean, there was obviously a lot of conversation and conjecture around the people that hate my guts and our guts about that. But it's like, we fucking called a Monday night football game last night. That is not lost on us. That is something that we are very, very honored, pumped, thankful, mind-blown about. And hopefully we just help the game in general. We'll continue to try to be. A contribution to society, an additive to ball and sports as a whole. And we're grateful for last night. Dano, you did a great job. D-Buck, you as well. Boys up in the booth. great work. In the truck, let's enjoy the hell out of this life. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice might change your life. We're in this thing together. Team on me. Team on three. NBA tip-off, baby.
