The sports broadcast highlights key NFL and college football matchups, focusing on the Cowboys vs. Buccaneers game and the Alabama vs. Georgia college showdown. The Buccaneers’ rookie quarterback, Jalen Daniels, is viewed as a game-changer due to his elite running ability and recent performance against the Packers, with DraftKings boosting him and CD Lamb for explosive stats. The Cowboys’ defense, though strong in total and red zone defense, is vulnerable to Daniels’ runs and the Bucs’ balanced attack. Weather concerns in Tuscaloosa, including a potential tornado threat, lead ESPN to move College Game Day to the Coleman Coliseum, prioritizing safety while maintaining a festive, fan-centered atmosphere. Alabama’s high-powered offense, led by Keenan Russell—a top-rated recruit with proven performance—faces Georgia in a highly anticipated matchup, with both teams expected to score heavily. The broadcast also emphasizes the behind-the-scenes efforts to secure guest picks like Bryce Young, celebrating Alabama’s football legacy. Despite weather disruptions and defensive challenges, both games are expected to deliver high-octane, exciting action, showcasing the intensity and unpredictability of football. The segment underscores the importance of adaptability, fan engagement, and the enduring spirit of the sport amid challenging conditions.
Hello beautiful people and welcome to our humble abode the draft King's Thunderdome on this NFL week five Give up Thursday. October 8, 2006. This sports program begins now It's the greatest and joining us today is a man who is coach football for 37 years 19 in the pros 18 in college Our coach laser gentleman Chuck Fogon But a CU coach Fogon also the toxic it was here at Boston Conor and at Thai Schmidt Thai. How you doing pal to pretty darn good You know week five already crazy baseball seasons over unfortunately, so now it's just it's a we're full bore into football season Which is the way it should be listen math motifs aren't happy with AI right now, okay? because AI is solving Centuries long math equations that are wonders of the world that these math motifs were trying to get to the bottom of then AI figures it out So we'd like to let the math motifs know we still feel as if they are an important part of society on that note Mathematist Conor what's the percentage of the season that we're about to be through here with week five kicking off already Yeah, we're already 23 and a half percent through the season after this weekend after Monday night football We will be over 29% through the season. So take it and soak it in it's it's a rare thing to have a great season like this See the Englishians are gonna get upset about me saying math motifs instead of math But do you think but I know that they're both scientists and math motifs coming together for the mathematician world and we love them And we appreciate whenever math comes and it reminds us that we need to enjoy every single one of these let's go to one half of the hammer Cowboys AP tone tonight eight and a half points bread at home cowboys favored with the bucks coming to town How do you feel about it? Why do you think it's so many points is this box team dead? Is that what they're saying? Well, yeah, the the 0 and 4 bucks public perception is that they are very very much dead that that kind of goes into the line as well The cowboys coming after a huge last second couple wins That they've seen there against the Houston Texans that everyone saw so public perception is on the cowboys You got Jalen Daniels a rookie Undrafted free agent quarterback. This is all going into the line tonight Baked into there and also the bucks haven't covered 13 straight games. So that's also 13 straights dating back to last season that they have not covered the spread Oh, oh for the last so what? Man somebody found that early. Thanks. Somebody was in there like the second week is this happening is like you know what? I'm just betting against the box I'm just betting against the bucks and they've been living quite a little highlight for this has been a guarantee a matter of fact The Buckeneers we thought potentially had positive energy coming into the season yeah because they got deals done with Vita They got deal done with Baker Mayfield even though both of those felt like they were in a rear view and they're gonna have to move on It was gonna be a rebuilding process in Buckeneer world Instead they just don't play good football then baked gets hurt now you got a rookie Jalen Daniels coming in he can run Yeah, he can run his ass off. We see them in college obviously for a lot of good football now He's with the bucks getting an opportunity against Green Bay Packers had a close could have made a couple big plays down the stretch And win that game for them maybe he has a big night against Cowboys defense It hasn't been necessarily fantastic, but we are hoping that he runs good We are hoping that Jalen will run his ass off which is certainly possible We do believe he could throw the ball. He is a potential NFL quarterback long-term But with his legs he's really a weapon and we think he'll get scrambled pushed out Maybe by the Cowboys defense try to make some plays and he'll be able to run then we also think CD lamb is gonna continue to eat after his Record-setting performance last weekend are super boost tonight by land Jalen Daniels air and sea combined CD lamb well done. We are gonna be from a boosting CD lamb 60 plus Receiving yards tonight Jalen Daniels 40 plus rushing yards It'll be boosted to plus 150 shot the draft Kings making that happen lot going on in the draft Kings world right now And in the predictive marketing world it does feel like but for tonight we will be boosting this to one plus 150 I don't know when it goes live just go live immediately live at five. Do we know when it is live? It's been live if I have a couple times. It's been live immediately a few times So we're just I believe someone will let us know at some point. Okay, and to show it'll be live Okay, there you go great news. That's good heads up and if you agree to gamble responsibly and You agree that you are of age and you agree that you will not be putting your entire life savings into any of these bets Yeah, we'd love for you to come and join us on draft Kings the best sports book on our defeat on Thursdays I don't think so tone pretty sure want to know in the last week. Yeah, certainly want to know in last week We could do that my college football picks Saturday morning off a game day Those go up as a pick on draft Kings as well. Haven't hit one of those been close So I think that is technically our last one. I think you hit the first week. Yeah, I hit the over with the points point Yeah, you hit the first week. Okay, so maybe we aren't as terrible as it feels sometimes Minnesota. Yeah, that that points points points. We had three overs that one hit and Georgia Tech Tennessee That was the one I brought at home at night. Yes. Yeah, I do remember us hitting one of those but nonetheless would love to hit this one tonight by land Air And see the Lamb. Thank you boys. We appreciate that if you agree not to be an asshole We'd love for you to join us now back to coach Pogano coach tonight's game cowboys bucks bucks seemingly a wounded animal coming into a Lit cowboys atmosphere down there in Texas. What are your thoughts on how this game goes? And if you were coaching both teams what your messaging would be Need to win if you're Todd Bulls in your Tampa Bay Bucks your without your quarterback also their energy bunny on defense Winfield junior Antoni he's not playing tonight He runs that secondary This a this thing smells like Pope if you don't go into like look at the stats and a lot of the numbers things like that You got a rookie quarterback and Jalen Daniels fresh out of Kansas, right? He can run He made a bunch of huge plays against Green Bay really kept him in the game This is one you know that he got outside the pocket and hit gain well for a touchdown The guys and athlete if If Dallas is not disciplined in the rush lanes He's gonna run around and make some plays and possibly make this interesting more interesting than anybody thinks So you think that the box have a chance especially with Todd Bulls back against the wall seemingly oh for 13 against the spread Their last 13 games that's absurd. So not only is it not a fun watch It's also a watch where a lot of people are losing alongside of it and then for the Cowboys your thoughts on them Yeah offense scoring bunches right think if they don't put up 31 tonight it'll be it'll be a miracle They've scored on everybody they scored 34 on a really good Houston defense 28 in the second half alone. Yeah, you know, and that's maybe why things you know happened down at Houston the way they did but I got to feel like Christian Parker and that defense You got a rookie quarterback on the road first time in a hostile environment communications gonna be critical load the box Do everything that you can right stop this this run game because I think Todd Bulls and that and that game plan for them is take the air out of it Load the box play tight coverage and make this guy beat you from the well All right tonight Thursday night football on prime Kirk Herb Street will be joining us here In just a few moments to chitchat about what he expects out tonight's game especially because he gets a chance to chat with people behind scenes That's right he gets a message and you know that bucket here's place probably pretty disappointed. Oh, yeah And then with the Cowboys huge win over the Texans, but there's a lot to fix which team can maybe Propell themselves to a different conversation and who's gonna go into the Shite division. Yeah, which we roll out today as well. Uh, it is time ladies and gentlemen to make a massive announcement This weekend college game day heads to Tuscaloosa. Yeah, Alabama roll Todd Roll Nick Sabin's doc from years tonight at 6 p.m. Eastern on ESPN the first episode will be shown on the ESPN app all six episodes will be available Huge showcase of Alabama and everything that happened down there George is coming to town on defeated Kirby smart former Nick Sabin disciple coming in at the same exact time College game day should be electrifying whether the weather makes It's tough to get to or not Who will be the celebrity guest picker though? Oh, how the Bama has a litany of people who are certainly notable But with the note of ability of most of these people football seasons tough to make happen truly especially for the celebrity guest picker college game day character Well the NFL scheduling gods Matched up with the college football gods. Oh, and they came together to say hey You know the celebrity guest picker for college game day is gonna be who price yon laser Bryce we haven't talked to you and forever good to see you man Always always great to see you guys We are so thankful that you're able to be the guest picker because a lot of the Alabama notable people are football players through the incredible run That Alabama football has had since you know Sabin took over down there So you having a buy week being able to get back for this important weekend. We are so thankful Being a guest picker's a lot of pressure though a lot of stress. How do you feel going into Saturday? I'm excited. I'm trying to do my research figure stuff out, but it's always fun to watch So be able to be a part of his definitely blessed. Okay, Tuscaloosa should be absolutely electrifying the Sabin documentary premiering as well Should this be a big celebration of Alabama? Is that what we should be expecting no matter what the weather is? Yeah, for sure You know that place is special. It's always gonna be a great great environment great atmosphere Yeah, being able to play and it was fun now get to be able to be able to go back and watch it from the outside Yeah, I'm super excited for it Bryce. We appreciate you making time special on your buy week I know you look it looks like you're in the building right now still working. It's buy week the answers you gave to
to us the other day, made us think you're a 90 year old man in between the years. So we appreciate you making this happen and we'll see you down in Tuscaloosa. Yeah, for sure. Of course you guys are. Hey, Bryce, quick though. Can you tell the Alabama students and the Alabama people that were potentially thinking about coming to game day on Saturday that we're going to be inside the Coleman Coliseum. The basketball arena is where the show will be because the massive storm that will be coming through Tuscaloosa. I think it's going to hit in the morning. So instead of moving people from outside to inside, we're going to be live from the basketball arena. Bryce, if you could tell everybody we're going to be in there so we don't have an empty arena on Saturday morning. First year, everyone coming. Y'all be there. Y'all be there. I'm going to be there. That's cool to hear. It'll be fun. Thank you for that, Bryce. Well, absolute legend. Ladies and gentlemen, that's National Champion husband, Bryce, y'all. Yeah, nice. Shout to Bryce, join us on Saturday and the other day. He is a guy. I'm happy he's career is going the way it's going because there for a bit. Everybody wondered if he could be an NFL quarterback. Are the Carolina Panthers going to be a good enough franchise to maintain a franchise quarterback? Because when there's a lot of turnover, there's usually not a lot of loyalty to people. So you can kind of get moved on quickly. Instead, him and Canalis have found a way to get the best out of him. And he is slicing and dicing. And that wide receiver team back, he might be up for offense a player of the year with the amount of yards and catches he has. And then Dan Morgan freaks show linebacker back in the day. GM of the Carolina Panthers. Let's assume the defensive side of the ball is going to be good for a while. I'm happy Bryce Young's coming back to Tuscaloosa. Now we talked about going into Coleman Coliseum because of the weather. Joining us now is the weather. Okay. Man, okay ladies and gentlemen from Weather Channel Jim Cantor. Hey, what's going on guys? Good to see you. Hey, Jim, great to see you. Thank you for joining us. Obviously weather anytime we talk to you is going to be impacting sports this weekend. It feels like Tuscaloosa is right in the path of this game potential storm and huge game Georgia Alabama College. Game day's going to be there in the morning. What should expect out of this particular path that you're seeing? Jim. Well, first of all, you got to check with Sabin for any forecast because if he wasn't a football coach in a broadcaster now, he would have been a meteorologist. I'm telling you right now, the guy's absolutely nuts about whether he'd have the team practicing with wet balls. However, this is what I'll say to you, it looks like your show is the one that's going to be impacted. The game we should have most of the stuff ended, but in all seriousness, you guys probably have a small but not zero tornado threat. OK, so you may be using that Coliseum as a storm shelter. OK, so the decision to go into the Coleman Coliseum at this point feels like the right decision. Yeah, 100%. 100%. OK. Oh, shut up, Matt Garrett. Red had to make that decision because college game day football always in a location where everybody could come celebrate outside. It has gone through rain before there has been different weather. This particular Doppler looked a bit scary and they wanted to make the decision here a couple days ahead of time. The decision going policy is good. So once this hits land, it's going to continue with just earlier in the day than expected. Yeah, it's going to speed up. It's going to weaken and you can see the cone going right over. You guys, right? So that's the track cone. That's where it's good, but the impacts extend well outside that cone. And what I'm worried about is there's a little leftover spin with that. So you know, it puts you in a little bit of a tornado risk there in Tuscaloosa. So like I said, that policy and maybe, uh, maybe double up as a storm shelter. But here's the dude, dude. If you're, if there's not a tornado warning, I want you out in it. Thank you. I want to see your best broadcast in the schmutz. Yeah. I'll be in the schmutz. Jim Kimmel's with me on that. Yeah. I want to be out there watching you for years out there. We've been learning about what life is like out in these conditions because of you. So I would definitely like to do that. Let's pivot away from me in a non tornado weather, but certainly bad weather in Tuscaloosa coming through during college game day in the morning. And let's talk about the ripple effect of this particular storm or any other storms that are happening across ball all of Saturday and Sunday. Should we expect there to be a lot of weather this weekend? OK, here's what I got for you. South Carolina Gainesville, uh, 1245. There could be a shower there. I'm a little bit more worried about old Miss Vandy in Nashville on Saturday because all of that's coming up from Alabama. OK, all that's coming north. Now as you can tucky Saturday night, it's still coming north. So I mean, the timing on this stuff is bringing it all north toward you. Then on Sunday, we still got some rain around Tennessee Pittsburgh DC. We won't have, you know, showers, thunderstorms, but there could be wind in play. It could be wet. I'm not worried about severe weather, though, as we get towards Sunday, it should be pretty evened out by then. All right, Jim Saturday is the big day, and you're right in the meat of it, bro. I mean, we'll try to stay safe. I will think of everything you have taught us throughout the years. You are the man. We'll talk to you soon. You got it, bro. Right time. Take care, guys. Good. I see. Paisan, Jim Cantor. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah, actually the game's going to be just fine. Should be out of there. You know, they'll cover the field too. So the field will be dry. Not in the Eastern, though. Should be a perk, but right where you guys are. That does feel like a tough set of circumstances. The decision to move into Coleman and Coliseum was made. And there was a lot of discussion about it. I mean, don't we think we should be out there with the people? Like this is what football is. It's not an indoor sport. It's a we're out there with. They're going to be tailgate not there at the time. The response is like, nobody's going to be out there tailgating and doing nobody's at this time. Nobody's going to be out there tailgate. It's like, well, can we just see if it's going to be bad? Well, then we'd have to pick up and move inside during the show. We already did that at LSU. We don't that right. That was worst case scenario. We don't like that at all because now people are outside. You guys are inside. Everybody talked about feeling terrible about that situation. So maybe we just move it inside because we're expecting it to be bad. Come on. We never. All right, we're doing it. All right, sweet. Let's dive in. It looks awesome. Oh, yeah. It's a huge the side on the side of the court. It goes up in a big tall way. Right up that back side there. Because that's the side. Because in my head, we want to go towards the basketball court over here. Because it's a little tighter over here. It doesn't go up nearly as high as the sides. The sides go way up. I think there's a lot of opportunity for seats up there. So we would love for people to come hanging out with us at Goldman Coliseum to celebrate the hell out of ball. Coach Sabin everything going on. It sounds like if we have a non zero tornado threat, that might be the only place to house people. I mean, you guys might be, you know, they might need to bring the fire marshal in, you know, because there might be 10,000, 12,000 more people than the arena can even hold. They got to figure out, hey, where are we going to put these people? It's going to be a madhouse in their Saturday partly because of the weather and partly because of the game. I hope so. You know, I certainly hope so going into a basketball arena. I think it's going to add some different awesome elements. Yeah, I think the chance are going to be obviously insane. I think we are planning on doing every part of the show in there. How are you? I feel good. So feel go kick it in there. The kid's going to kick it into the hoop. Maybe they won't make it this week. I don't know if we're just going to make them put it in a hoop. I think they're thinking about putting the uprights in there because how big the building is, but yeah, maybe it is. Like you got to make it directly into the hoop. Who does the, is it J will it does it have? Of course. I just like it's nothing. It makes a bunch of them. I assume I'll be hucking basketball shots in there. Could expand tickets to everyone who shows up for a raffle tickets for the kick. I got the raffle that place up a little bit. It worked out last week. I'll handle the rough. See, that's what people are saying. We can't let this people don't have actual brains so they don't know that you're joking right there. So, you know, there's a lot of look who they picked and was like, well, it's actually a raffle. Okay. And I'm like, excuse me. We cannot be peddling what Charles Pagano, Chad his raffle looks like whenever he's growing up at the Italian club, we back in the day. But on that note, I appreciate Finley saying I can kick it down there and I will. I appreciate it saying I can do it because there is something that if you're physically unable to kick, you can pick somebody else, but it has to be done within like the first minutes who already have to think of the idea of who you're going to have. And they're saying, I can kick it. Yeah, I can definitely do it. I want to do it. It'll be a fun experience. I appreciate her doing that. Getting back to Alabama. That storm sounds like it's going to be a pretty real deal there, huh? Sounds like we got some pretty heavy coming in the morning. Happy the game is not going to be affected. These two battling it out this early in the season, I think is great for both sides. And we're going to learn a lot here about Keelan Keelan Russell, a quarterback for Alabama. They're talking about him being like the one going forward. Highest rated recruit in the history of Bama. I think that is worthy of being said multiple times because every name that you just thought of Alabama, this kid coming out of high school was somehow ready to hire Derek Henry. We've seen his high school footage. He ran over all 10 people, all 11 people on the other side of the field every play. He had 7,000 touchdowns. I forget what it was. Some absurd number. This guy rated higher than him coming into Alabama. He has the upside, I guess, of like literally greatest quarterback of all time. Has the demeanor of a mature quarterback and has the athleticism to run by you. It's, it's a special thing. The board's building around him now. And they win the big one. That is all anybody cares about in Alabama post Sabin. If he gets a win over Georgia, with this Georgia Bulldog team, I think that does numbers for Keelan to board down there in Tuscaloosa. Fun fact, the highest rated recruit before Keelan Russell was Bryce Young and he won a Heisman. So that's, you know, that'll be something to follow up there. But no, this is awesome. I think like the Alabama offense, which is just absurd, scoring 50 points basically every single game, going against that Georgia defense that has now grown up together under Kirby in that system. Like that is going to be an unbelievable matchup to watch on Saturday. And how about Keelan to board? Like we spent the first couple of years talking like, Hey, when are they going to turn on Keelan to board? When is it going to finally happen? And he's been to the playoff. Obviously Tyson's in last year and they went to the Rose Bull and everything in loss.
just the ability to get a player like Keelan Russell. I feel like his massive from Keelan to board, because it really was like, hey, this isn't going to work out. He's following Nick Saban, who is the most loved person in the history of Alabama. There's no way he can live up to that expectation. And it's still there. They still have to go and, you know, make a national championship, win a national championship. But his ability just to get players like Keelan Russell is already kind of like a separating factor for at least people in Alabama to be like, okay, we can give this guy a little bit of a break because it was loud for a little bit there. They're worried they weren't still going to be Bama. Yes, they were worried that it was going to turn into just another middle of the road SEC team, which they had been before Saban gets there. So Saban, obviously, hands the keys over to Kaelin to board. And there was a mass exodus. Caleb Downs, all their stars out of there. Can Kaelin save it and then can Kaelin continue it, especially with all the noise, feels like he's been able to do it. Kaelan Russell is the guy. I think he has at a top three recruiting class every single time. Every single year that he's been there too. So he's still getting the guys in there. And he's proven that he can win everywhere. He likes his guy. That's the same record, right? After 23 games with coach Saban. Yeah, yeah, exact same. And can you imagine following coach Saban being a guy? No, there's not many people that would sign up to do that. So Kudos to him for signing up. And then and what this kid's done from week one till now. Like watching him week one compared to this last week and what the improvement he's made unbelievable. I think he's comfortable in the pocket as well. He can span it. He can run it. Ryan Coleman Williams starting to catch ball again. That's great news for everybody. Happy for Alabama, but Kirby, who will be joining us here in 50 minutes or so. Has a team that I don't even know if he knows how good they can be because of the level of talent that they've played against. They were running one-on-ones on the sideline during commercial breaks of their games because I didn't think they were getting enough work. Excited to catch up with him. Joining us now is the man who kicks off the NFL weekend. He's the face of college game day and college football primetime on ESPN and ABC. Absolute living legend former president of Ohio Kirk Herp Street. What's up, fellas? Hey, I'm great. How are you? Just announced Bryce Young guest picker live from Coleman Coliseum down there in Tosca, Loosa. We talked about you and I have talked about this off air. But a lot of the notable names out of Alabama are football players. And for guest picker for game day, this is during football season, hard to get guys in time. Alabama has seemingly been tough to kind of get guest picker into Tosca, Loosa on day of. So getting Bryce with his by-week gigantic for the weekend, especially with the Coleman Coliseum thing, Herbie. Yeah, yeah, with the with the with the wins and the rain. They've made that announcement. You've I'm sure made that announcement to confirm. We're going to welcome everybody to come out to Coleman Coliseum and make it a wild atmosphere inside. But it's cool that that we'll be there with coach Saban back home. We're going to have a nice dinner there on Friday evening with with the Saban. So looking forward to that. And for Bryce Young, as you guys know, he's kind of settled in very nicely with Dave Canalis and seems to really have a feel right now, right now. It's a thick of things right now in the NFC South and has a chance to get to the postseason. Again, remember, they gave the Rams all they could handle last year in the postseason. So he is really settled in, I think, with an offensive coordinator that knows how to take advantage of his abilities. Also think just the reps that he's received, like any quarterback. And of course, they've gotten so much better around him from where he was early in his career. So yeah, man, that is a as we say, buying stocks. That's a stock to buy right now. And it'll be great to catch up with him when the class acts that's ever played at Alabama. Can't wait to see him. Huge for us to get him as the guest speaker. Yeah, I think that is something that doesn't get talked about enough. Is the panic process of trying to get a guest speaker into a city that isn't necessarily the easiest to get to. While a lot of people are gigging, they got their gigs or working. It's huge thrust that Bryce Young is able to do this. I don't think that can get stressed enough, Herbie, about the behind-the-scenes process of trying to get a celebrity guest picker. Yeah, and you deserve a major kudos as well for getting your phone out and trying to help us get some of these folks because every week it's a challenge, as you said. I know you're right in the middle of that, trying to help out the best he can. Like Caitlin Clark last week, it didn't look like it was going to happen. Then it might happen. And then again, to get into too many details with what you're able to try to help with. It's a fascinating effort behind the scenes. And then when it works out, it's awesome. On Saturday to be able to have somebody to talk ball with. And they seem so far this year. They all seem to have a great time doing it. Bryce will fit in perfectly, kind of a self-spoken guy. This whole thing, I've never, you know, at one time, one time I think we moved inside for the entire show. Can I say that Herbie was a big, come on, we're a football show. You are a big, it's going to rain a little bit, it's a football show. Like what, Herbie was big on that. He wasn't the only one. But Herbie was, was a big, what are we doing here? This is football, we are, we do the elements. That's why we have the best crew in the business. They're able to build the set. Herbie was very emotional with the move. Actually, though, I would like it to be known. I just, I think we've had too many lightning delays when we look up above. And it's blue skies this year. So I'm a little bit gun shy when it comes to postponing games. And as soon as I saw that, that tropical storm, and a hundred mile in our winds hitting Mobyo, Alabama, my first thought was, obviously, hope everybody's going to be okay in that region. It seems like every year that region gets tested, the resolve gets tested, no matter where those, those storms come up. And as I learned more about the storm, you could see Friday evening, a hundred mile in our winds coming in there. And then as I learned, according to everybody I've talked to, I mean, it's going to be really wet, but the winds, I think, during game day, could be 15 to 20 miles an hour with a lot of rain. And I just, obviously, everybody's safety is first and foremost. But at the same time, if there was any chance to keep us outside and let us do our show, it would have been great to do that. But I understand why Maddie Garrett and the boys didn't need it to pull the trigger and make that happen. And we'll be indoors. And we hope the fans have come over and have a great time. We celebrated, we celebrated Mad Garrett earlier today. He had to put his, he had to put his foot down. He had to, for one of the first times, this is not natural for him. Not natural for him to be like, I have to make a decision. They're telling me I have to make a decision. We're going inside and then sends the text into the group. Hey, because of all the information that we are hearing, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. He quoted James Span. I think he dropped the Jim Cain board. It was awesome. We hope everybody will come hang out with us in the Coleman Coliseum. We hope to make it a memorable special kickoff to another fantastic college football Saturday, which we are very, very lucky to be a part of. And we hope people will come hang with us inside. And I heard you talking about Keelan Russell man and about Keelan the Bohr and Conor, you know, you're right. I think there was a buzz that's been surrounding anybody that was going to fill the shoes and say, but there was obviously going to be a buzz because nobody can do what he did and the way he did it, the style that he did it. And if you try to come in and act like him, it would have been fraudulent. So the best thing Keelan the Bohr did, who's very, very different in how he operates, obviously, the way he carries himself on a sideline, the way he carries himself on interviews, he's just, to his credit, he's being him. But some of the results of the game, the games and based on their standard and their expectations, that, of course, the goat created have left some fans frustrated. And to his credit, he's kind of just stayed in the pocket. You know, we talk about quarterbacks kind of dealing with the noise and sitting in the pocket. Keelan the Bohr's had to deal with the noise and just kind of sit in the pocket, go out and recruit, continue to try to talk about this brand. We're going to continue to go up. We're going to continue to raise the bar. We're going to do it our way. We're not going to be, you know, we're going to respect Nick Saban and try to honor him and everything we do, but at the same time, we have to do this our way. It's the only way it's going to work. And that's very, very hard to do when the expectation from the fans is for you to be like him. And I just don't think that's realistic when your personality is so different. So, Gudos to him for being himself. >> Yeah. >> I think they're a very different team this year. Keelan Russell's going to get a lot of the credit, but they're healthy at running back. Daniel Hill is running the ball. Number four is running the ball with authority. They're better at the line of scrimmage. You mentioned Ryan Coleman-Williams. He's back to playing the way he did his freshman year, which is great to see. Playing with a lot more confidence. And then I think the biggest issue is we saw the last week right here in this game in Starfield. Everybody thought it was going to be a shootout. And Ken Walmeck and this defense man, they are flying around. They're better in the trenches. And they're doing a much better job in the back end, just being on the same page. And coming up with the interceptions. So, it's a very, very different Alabama team. But, here comes the guy on the left. Herbie Smart, who's got a chip on his shoulder every second of a day. He's number two in the country and he feels disrespected. And he's going to have a pissed off football team. There's just no way around it. They're going to come in mad at the world. And they feel slighted. No one's really talking about him. Even though they're number two in the country, a lot of that has to do with who they have played. And this is their opportunity to kind of show America on a massive stage who they are.
and what they're about and you know, we always look at these quarterbacks and who's the first round here and whatever. Gunner Stockton is a football player. Gunner Stockton is just a guy that's very experienced. He'll throw it, as you see here, he'll run it and he'll lower his shoulder. It's hard not to fall in love with that dude and the way he plays. So game on, whether it's rain or wind or whatever, good against good, you can argue two of the best teams, maybe the two best teams in the country, going head to head and Tuscaloosa, sign me up. I can't wait to get down there. >> I can't wait to get down there either. Good sell the entire game there by you. Breaking down literally every side of the ball and the mindset of the coaches. You talk about Kirby Smart being pissed off, not having as much attention. He's built this team too, right? This is from within, it's isn't like huge transfer portal. Gunner Stockton, this is third year now. We're seeing him as quarterback for Georgia. He's throwing it. He's throwing it much better than he has in the past. He's completing at a percentage that he is. We've never seen from Gunner Stockton. Let alone the running people over, running around people. They still got bloody Tuesdays. And these guys have been in his system for multiple years. I love how Kirby's been doing it, because we talk about transfer portal NIL. Kirby's been able to retain his guns NIL-wise, as opposed to looking from outside in. Maybe this is the best culture he's had in some time for his team. >> It's a great point, Pat. Great point. It's so rare to see that around college footballs, as you guys know. And what's weird, when you think about these two teams, number one in the nation in scoring offense. The Georgia Bulldogs and Mike Bobo is their OC 51 points of game. And you could say whatever you want about who they played. They played three SEC opponents or two SEC opponents. And then on the other side, Alabama 49 points of game. So 51 points of game number one in the country. 49 points of game with Kaelin Russell on the other side. Number two in the country. Now with the rain and the weather and the better defenses. Obviously, you don't think it would be that kind of game. But keep in mind, I mean, these guys offensively are executing. They got playmakers and they're doing a great job in the trenches. And having a very balanced attack. So I can't wait to see which defense can get some stops and give their quarterback the football back. And it's typical when these teams get together, there's an up and down. There's a run. Last time they played in Tuscaloosa, it looked like Alabama was going to kill him. Game over at halftime. And was talking trash to Georgia. Like you're not coming into our house, it was over. And here comes Carson Beck. If you remember, it was like holy cow, what a game. They came back and won it. And then no, here comes Ryan Williams with his coming out party. Just that exactly body control twist. I mean, it was and typically when they play, it's that kind of game. Last second, who's going to have the ball last and hopefully, despite the weather, it'll live up to that reputation. So we just talked to Jim Cantori. He told us the worry for our show in the morning is coming out of that rain on the back. There might be a little bit of a tornado thing coming out of the back a little bit of a spin cycle off the back end of that rain. But he thinks the rain's going to be out of there by the time the game. So if they cover the field, you're going to have to deal with some excess maybe a little wind off the back. But I don't think it's I think the weather should be really good for the game. And I think the field surface should be really good as well from what Jim Cantori just told us, go ahead, Tom. Yeah, I just looked it up. So for that part of the day in Tuscaloosa, it's like 30% rain and like 10, 15 amount of our winds. So for the game, which is, which is, I mean, that's not like it's going to be detrimental, like it could have been. Yeah, it's not going to take away offensive explosion possibilities. It's not going to completely ground the teams. Go ahead, Herbie. Yeah, and I was just going to say, I mean, we're focused on football in the game. But obviously on behalf of the Pat McVee show, all of us are thinking about the folks in the region, like mobile Alabama. I'm sure Jim's going to be down there, you know, I would assume somebody from his team. I mean, when this thing hits, they're talking about 100, 100 mile an hour winds. So obviously, first and foremost, our thoughts are with those folks in that region. But if this goes the way they're saying, it sounds like this game is going to be able to be played. And like you said, Tony, it and Pat, it looks like for the most part, this storm could be rolling through Birmingham, Tuscaloosa late morning, early afternoon. By the time that football goes up in the air, 630 local, it sounds like there may be some light rain still. But hopefully everybody will be okay down there in the coast in Mobile and throughout Mississippi and Alabama. Alabama post that the kickoff is still scheduled for 630 p.m. Central time Saturday. We continue to encourage fans to rely on official Alabama athletics and SEC channels for the latest information regarding Saturday's game. Yes, any storm coming to land, we have thoughts for everybody as they battle against it. Mobile Alabama had a senior board down there. Yeah. Mobile Alabama is also the original Marty girl. Wow. Wow. People in New Orleans don't like hearing that. I talked to James Winston's grandpa on Monday night and he said, you ever come down for a Marty girl? I had a great accent. I said, I've been to Mobile 40. He goes, I said, that's where it started ready goes, come on. He said, ain't nothing like New Orleans, Marty girl. So I think I was invited down there for it, but Mobile, senior board down there, Pat White from Daphne, Alabama, which is right near there, Trip Hale, college roommate of mine. He's from Mobile. Got a lot of love for that city of Mobile. He had some great nights down in Mobile, Alabama. Hope they survived through this without any massive damage because that celebration of Katrina on Monday, like reliving the devastation of all that, just a reminder of what's possible whenever weather and the ocean just decide and then, you know, you're not prepared. How could you be prepared for it for whatever brings and then just complete. It's like, that's scary shit, man. That's just like up here when never tornadoes are on the way, you're just like hoping that it doesn't happen. I can do. It's just like a hope that it doesn't take place. So go ahead. I was going to say coach, I can't remember. If you were at Miami when that big one hit early 90s down at Miami, I don't know if you were a part of the cane staff back then, but I know that was a tough one as well for that region. So yeah, I think sometimes people in these areas, sometimes they, you know, they're prone to say, we're just going to, we're going to deal with it and it's what we do and then other times, you know, it gets really serious and people evacuate, but there was a big one down in Miami. I just couldn't remember if coach was on that staff or not. Yeah, I wasn't there. We had two games, you know, postponed and canceled. We were supposed to open with the UCLA and the Orange Bowl. And the thing about hercane's on the, you know, East Coast and the Atlantic Ocean is you'll get a storm from up north and what happens is it'll push it out to sea and won't hit land. So they canceled the game, it happened two times. We all go home, not a drop of rain because we got that, that's learned from up north. Pushed that baby out to the Atlantic Ocean and we're sitting at home, you know, grilling out and drinking beers and watching everybody else play that Saturday played UCL later in that year. Oh, yeah. That was. They were ranked number two. That was my three. 98. Yeah. And you're entering James had a monster. 299. That was his last game, 299 rushing. We beat him 45 to 37 or something and they threw a Hail Mary to that kid Bennett, the volleyball player came and now threw one up to try to, try to beat you guys on a Hail Mary late. That was an amazing day of a bunch of, there's no way what you just said was right. What year is this? This is 28 years ago. They had a bunch of long athletic wide receivers. We were down 17. A white dude, a white dude, volleyball player that was like their leaper that they tried to throw one up too late to try to get a Hail Mary. But all I remember from that game is I used to love the old Orange Bull. I just remember anytime I'd go in and watch the Orange Bull from the sideline, I wouldn't call on games back then at the beginning. I was doing Thursday night games and I just would stand there and just look around because the Orange Bull was either no one there or everyone there. And when everyone was there, it was one of the most hostile environments you could find in college football. And I saw so many cool Miami Florida state games there. But at 98, UCLA game, Eddren James was the story and he, he, he outdulled Kay McNown to win that game. That was a big one. I couldn't even imagine how hilarious Eddren James was in college. Just hilarious, I know of him to be now as a coach legend. He's still around the Indianapolis coach organization a lot. What a beast. What a stud. You too. Good brain on you there, Ohio God. You know, because senior citizen stuff. Oh, yeah. Close. You too. You too. All right. Let's go tonight. Let's go tonight. You sign a new deal to continue Thursday nights. We celebrated you last week. We'll continue to do that. Thank you. Down in Dallas as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers roll in with Jalen Daniels. We obviously saw a lot of him with Kansas. I think we even traveled out there to one of his team him or be. Yeah, I think it was Jason B. Yeah. They being played that game. You're right. Yeah. We were out there. We celebrated Kansas football. They had massive investment. He did amazing things for him. Now he's starting quarterback in the NFL, taking on the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night football on prime time. What do you expect from the game? And what do you expect from both teams, Kirk? Well, I mean, it's obviously take bake away from from this offense. I mean, he's your guy, right? He's your alpha. He came away. This is a Tampa team, by the way, they're 0 and 4, but they're all one possession games. Their defense is playing well enough to win games. They're just struggling. Zach Robinson, their new offense coordinator, came over from the Falcons with B. John and just trying to kind of implement, trying to find the right running schemes to make this fit with a veteran offensive line. But as you're seeing, this defense has played well. Vita Bay is still in the middle there. I think their defense, obviously, will be challenged in a massive way tonight against back for us, Scott and CD Lam coming off a 17 reception game, which he just.
How many times have you ever said that, 17 receptions in one game, including the game winner late in that game. And I think that when you take a rookie quarterback who's making his first career start on the road, he started last week against Green Bay at home, but on the road on a short week, it really can handcuff what you can do. You want to play smart. You want to be able to get Bucky Irving and running game going. But as you're seeing him right there, that'll be the key to this game. He carried it eight times, 55 yards against Green Bay. A lot of that was off schedule, just him creating and making plays. Dallas wants to bottle him up. Dallas wants to stop the run game and then keep him in the pocket. Make him play quarterback from the pocket. And if I'm Tampa, I'm trying to get him outside. That's his own read. Just sprinkle on that end, using his legs. He's got a lot of moxie. He's got that it factor. You know, Jake Browning was signed after the time he was with Cincinnati. He was forced in to play a lot with Burrow and some of his injuries. And they signed him thinking, here's a reliable backup in case we get into a situation with Baker. And then they went into the camp and they're like, who's this undrafted free agent quarterback, rookie quarterback we got that just kind of guys like him guy. He's making plays. He understands the, and they said by the second preseason game, he won the job. And so even though they signed Jake Browning as an insurance guy, they let him go. And they went with this rookie and he's one of those guys who he talked to him, just lights up the room. Just like you could see why the offense wants to respond to him, wants to play well for him. He's got, he's got a whip like he's delivery. You saw that there. Look at what he's on the move like that. He just is very natural, very gifted, played a ton of games in college. So everybody, you get to know him, you're going to pull for him. And let's face it, Dallas right now with Christian Parker, their new DC who came over from Philly, still trying to figure things out, you know, four weeks of trying to have to outscore people to win games. And a lot of that has to do with not just new scheme, but Pat, they've been beat up on the back end. It's been a problem with a ton of injuries. They're trying to get, you know, where it's stable more on the back end. And they're not getting a ton of pressure right now. They're struggling in that area for sacks on the entire year. So what can you do if you're a Dallas defense? To me, you want to stop the run of Bucky Irving, get this quarterback who doesn't have a ton of experience in those obvious passing situations, and then just change the picture up as much as you can. Green Bay did a really good job with it, especially late last week. Got the game moving really fast for him. Came up with some critical sacks late in that game that preserved the win. And I think Dallas is going to try to do much of the same. Make this guy feel hurried. And then don't let him get out and create because that's where he can do his most damage. We need Jalen Danny's are all out tonight. We need we need land air and sea for our super boost. We need CD lamb to have over 60 receiving yards. We assume that'll be a lock and then we need Jalen there, huh? You're good there. And then what do you got here? Jalen in his 40 plus Russian yards. Okay. Okay. All right. All right. All right. Nothing's a guarantee. No. Please be responsible. Well, we were boosting the night and you know, it's when Kirk was saying that Dallas's defense is trying to bottle up Jalen. We were all shaking our head. Say, no, no, no, no, no, no, we need him. We need him not to get too bottled up. But I think what you saw from him against the Packers was he sees Elaine. He's going to take yes. And has the ability to do such and maybe they draw up a couple for him. We think he's athletic enough to get there, but anything could happen on these Thursday night games. A lot of talk about the Dallas Cowboys defense. Not as much against about Tampa's defense. Go ahead, Chuck. You mentioned pressure and Dallas's inability to get to the quarterback and struggling right now. So on the flip side, Tampa's struggling as well. I'm hearing that Ruben Bain is going to be back in the line up tonight. We know Bulls is defense is he's going to load up and they're really good against the run. Suspect against the pass a little bit. Windfield is out. Herbie tonight, which is big to me and defense. The two corners have been playing good. But how do you think with Bain back? I know he's going to have guys up in the line of scrimmage. He gives you a bunch of different looks disguises. This guy's coming. That guy's, do they feel confident they can pressure this quarterback? They can get back in this offense into third and long and get after him. Boy, you know, and you look at these numbers outside of points because somebody has to do with their own offense, putting them in some tough positions or giving up 24 game. But you go down running, rushing defense, they're third in the league. I mean, it's hard to run the ball in these guys. Passing defense, they're they're ninth in the in the league right now. Total defense. They're up near the top top five in total defense and critical areas. They've been outstanding. Red zone. Their fifth. So teams get into the red zone. They're kicking field goals. Third down defense. They're six. So they're getting off the field on third downs. So despite not getting a lot from the offense and it's been inconsistent on that side of the ball. And defense, as I said earlier, not get them up a lot of explosives, making teams earn it and then playing well on third down in the red zone. So that's why they're in these one possession games. That's why they have a chance. I think Rubin Bane, I was talking to the coach that taught bulls about him this week. He said, we're hoping to see the Rubin Bane from camp. The Rubin Bane from camp was dominating people. Has it played the last couple games, they get him back, would be great to see him. I remember that debate during the draft. He's got short arms and watching him play and becoming a technician with Jason Taylor as his defense align position coach and one of the greatest to ever do it. We used to marvel at Rubin Bane's time. He would practice in that Miami Heat and he'd spend an hour. I'm talking freshman sophomore, junior year. He'd spend an hour after every practice going over different moves, rips and different techniques that he had. So I think people are really underestimating who he can be. And maybe tonight's an opportunity for him to go up against Terrence Steel on that right side, a veteran right tackle. Maybe he gets some opportunities to get some pressure. But this is not a or Tampa, their own four, their defense is not wrong. Their defense is playing great. So Todd Bulls has done a hell of a job on that side. But Winfield obviously is kind of that chest piece is down. That's a massive loss. But Bane coming back will be big. And then it's a matter of pick your poison. They put more often than not CDLAM on one side. Pickens into the boundary. They're looking at that backside boundary safety. Is he rolled over top into the boundary over Pickens to create that rolled coverage? Or they're going to put him in the middle to feel now you create one on one for Pickens. Houston last week, they said, hey, this, this team's number one is Pickens. So they rolled a lot. Demiko Ryan's decided to take Pickens away. So what happened was we saw a ton of CDLAM. And they also put LAM and Pickens on the same side more than they have last week. So we'll see if they do that tonight. But those two are a problem. They're both number ones on one team. And DAC is the beneficiary just sitting back there having time to throw. They can run the ball with Javante Williams. This is one of the elite offenses this year in the NFL. Be fun to watch Todd Bulls' scheme go up against the firepower of DAC in this offense right now that's that's clicking at 30 points a game playing as well as anybody in the league. You mentioned there Houston deciding to double George Pickens. I wonder if this week will be a bit different. Go ahead, Ty. Yeah, Herbie. Do you think that tonight is going to be the night that Pickens kind of gets it going? Obviously playing on the franchise tag this year. I think a lot of people, especially after how, how well he did last year when CD was out of chunk of the season. But he hasn't really got going much. And I guess you don't really need to when CD's catching 17 balls and they're just leaving them wide open. But it does kind of feel like tonight is going to be a George Pickens game. Do you agree with that? Or is there really not that big of a concern to get him going because their offense has been performance so well? Well, I think it's more of how will they play us? I don't think it's, hey, let's get Pickens going. I think Shotty looks at it like, hey, we want to get CD and Pickens. We want to get them all going, but how are they playing us? And what can we do to try to get one of these guys isolated? That's it, because they both can win one-on-one. Pickens, by the way, that catch right there, set up eventually the game winner. So he had some moments, but you're right, he hasn't had the amount of catch receptions you would expect to see from him. But if you talk to Dak, which we did yesterday, that has everything to do with not so much, hey, let's get CD, his touches, it's more about how are they going to defend us? And George's role more often is put in that traditional X into the boundary. So if you go three by one or whatever formation you do, he's over here, and if they have the audacity to leave a corner one-on-one, no matter what the call is, Dak has it built in, okay, they're one-on-one, let's get the ball to three. And like I said, Shotty last week did an interesting job of trying to get them both on the same field to try to create some of those one-on-one opportunities for both Pickens and Lamb. But everything tonight and every game, really for Dallas, is going to be predicated upon how teams choose to defend them. And then you go to, without Antoine Winfield, would they be a little bit more conservative? Would be a little bit more shell, would be more, hey, let's just try to keep all this firepower in front of us. We're really good in the red zone. Let's keep them in front of us, not give up those big plays. And then let's squeeze them and make that great kicker, have to kick field goals. That's what I would do somehow, some way, then get creative on third down. That's where Todd Bowles is as good as anybody. It giving a lot of different looks and being multiple and trying to affect the offensive line in the past pro. All right, let's pivot off at tonight's game to a broader
NFL storyline that has certainly captivated a lot of headlines. Go ahead, Con, man. >> Yeah, Kirk, big story this week was Lane Johnson calling it a career. I'm sure you remember him all the way back to Oklahoma. Just think about him. Just as a player in general, then if you want, just going into the Eagles and what do you think they need to do to turn around a little bit? >> Well, obviously, I don't know all his stuff he's dealing with emotionally and personally. For him to get to a point where he needs to step away. I mean, just talking about one of the elite offensive linemen to ever, ever play at that right tackle spot. So, you know, you think about him and hope that he's okay with everything that he's dealing with. As far as his play, his ability to play on the field, you're right. I go all the way back with him, watching him at Oklahoma. This was always just, some of those guys come through college. They're just, they're just built differently. They're incredibly athletic and just have massive size. He was just that guy in college. So, always been a dominant player. I think everybody in Philly will always remember him for all the super bulls and all the great times and what he brought them. So, I'm sure everybody's wishing him the best as far as where they go from here. Now they move the center. So, I mean, I don't know if they're building up a lot of volume to eventually reload and reshuffle. This trade was probably even more surprising to me than the announcement of Lane Johnson. It's, you know, this 2026 season, Philly is still a team that we all think of as a team that can win that division and possibly make a run. And for them to lose the starting right tackle. And now, I saw you guys talking yesterday with J.J. And now to lose a pro ball center in Cam Jurgens. I mean, that's, maybe there's something going on behind the scenes that we don't know. I'm not to mention Jeff Stoutland, who's probably the best line coach in the game. All these things happening within a year, within one calendar year. It's either, hey, we're stocking draft picks and we're getting ready to have a new wave of players or they have some trust and confidence in some of these younger guys that they think can step up and play and at the same time try to get some draft capital along the way. But yeah, I don't know. I don't know if there's any NFL fan that expected to see this with Philly. And I think everybody's kind of shocked and anxious to see how they look and what they do from here. We just seen that 2028 draft for the Philadelphia Eagles is quite a wealthy one. Got a lot of picks, got a lot of power picks. How will they utilize those or weaponize those into moving up or rebuilding a roster that maybe they have to move on from a couple of pieces. And we got a hembo stat. He cannot find in the last 15 years, another interior offense alignment that had been traded for a second round pick. So second round pick for an interior offense alignment, very rare, but also tack on a fifth round pick there. I think how we said we weren't planning on it. We weren't planning on it. And then both more press so much added a second rounder in there. And we felt almost obligated. Cam had been playing guard. I do believe this year. And a lot of the Johns in Philadelphia on the internet were saying, Cam's been good riddance to Cam is what had to be watching him this year is what they said was also playing guard. Now he moves back to center and bolts more. Maybe it's just best for all parties. But as a Philadelphia Eagles fan in the way I appreciate the way they played football over the last few years, it does feel a little different this year than it has of years past. And they still got their franchise quarterback and sake one Barclay in the backfield. So I'm intrigued to see how the rest of the year goes with Cereoni and the conversation around him and what they end up doing. He's also incredibly cheap. And I think the Ravens have him for like the next like four years. Like I believe his cap number this year is like one million. Then it's like four million next year. So like they're not breaking the bank to get him either. So yeah, it's crazy all the way around. Now sake one in Devonte officially did not practice to do to their hamstring injury. So health is also a part of a conversation in Philadelphia wild times in that NFC East. Okay, let's go back to colleges. We wrap up this wonderful hour with Mr. Herbstreet. Go ahead, Tom. Yeah, Herbie. Obviously you guys are going to be down the SEC. But there's two very intriguing games in the big 10 this weekend. UCLA is heading to Oregon and Indiana is going into Nebraska. Kind of a matchup of teams that have been very fun this year. And then the perennial powerhouse is not perennial for IU. But you know, powerhouse is now in IU and Oregon. And you know, what do you think of those two games? Any upset alert in any of those two? Yeah, anything you can know and say, Hey, anybody with brain will know that this is the right play. You don't say that. And so after I make my picks on Saturday. Just look at it, this board, that IU Nebraska game, man, that that's going to be awesome because we're going to find out where Indiana. We all assume Indiana's Indiana, the Indiana we've seen the last couple of years. This will be a really good test to find out because that's a tough environment. And Maddie rules got a team right now with quarterback play. It's been more, a little bit more dual threat. It looks like they have a team. But is this is this fool's goal? Is this like, okay, here comes Nebraska. They're playing great. They got it. They got them at home. And then here comes Indiana. Bang is that what we'll see. I look at the UCLA Oregon game. I'll be honest. I did pick that one as my my super dog. I I'm kind of drinking the cool day there with UCLA. I don't know if they can win the game up at Eugene. But I think they can hang around I think this teams pretty legit. It's a lot of fun by the way for for my age group to see UCLA get back in the mix. I would love to see them continue with Bob Chesney to hover and back into the top 25. Apparently get them get them going again. The UK LSU game. What again, I mean, we thought UK after they blew that first half against Alabama. Okay, they're same old UK. Then they go down to Kyle Field. Do what they did there. They back it up again and win. Now they got LSU at home. Some weather potentially there in Lexington. But I think that's an interesting game. Missouri getting an M after such an emotional win last week. Are they able now to that's the deal in the SEC is it's like you catch a team at the right time. They catch Florida who's trying to get down after the Ole Miss game and they pound them. And now they have to be the one to get back down after an M now. This is in desperation mode themselves. So a lot of great games, a lot of intriguing games in both of those conferences, the big 10 in the SEC. And can I have a state on a Friday night go to Provo and ruin potentially a college game day location because you know sounds like game day. If everybody wins, we may be heading to Provo maybe for possibly I don't know that, but I you heard that. Well, Herby. You heard that. Herby has about the same amount of power as the rest of us when it comes to deciding where it's headed and where it's going to be whenever we get there. We learned that this week. That's Kirk Herby should he'll be on tonight. We'll be back on the other side of this break. Goodbye. >> [MUSIC] >> Who is Provo? >> Charly. >> Helly close. >> That hog. >> Charly. >> Coming into that, we were nowhere near ready and while it was happening, nowhere near ready, I pitched a new hobby for myself and it was immediately shot down by everybody in the Thunderdome. I said, you know what? Maybe I do some mountain climbers some day. I saw a video of a guy hiking up a mountain when he got to the top. He posed and he had to walk his ass back down. Are you all right, Ton? That's one half of the hammer. Die. Cowboys AP, Ton. I was almost in the fucking mountain climbing out here. >> I was almost influenced into becoming a big time mountain hiker, you know, during the break. And as soon as I said, you know what boys? Maybe I do this. Michael Cole does it of the WWE. 37 year football coach, coach Chuck Pagano said he saw him on TV, said Michael Cole looks really good right now. And I'm like, yeah, I got crimes. Mountains, he does some scuba diving. Maybe I do some mountain climbing. I just saw a video in the toxic table that bossed a corner in Thai Schmidt, immediately saw it down. What if this is what I'm called to do mountain climbing Thai Schmidt? >> Yeah, maybe because you know, from what I know about you, you'd love to, you know, fly to Nepal and you know, be at some base camp with some, you know, old Asian guy with a long beard who's high on opium and have him take up to the top of the mountain. Yeah, yeah, some of them are Sherpas and some of them are homeless guys who just live in on the mountain for, you know, their entire lives. You don't want to do that. If it was down the road and you could like climb up into like a cool tree house or something, absolutely do that. Hiking mountains. Are you nuts? No way. The Oculus probably has exactly. Are you talking hooks and carabiners and all that. I don't have the ability to do that. >> Okay, so just a couple of documentary. I've watched them all. LeClaire. >> What's that? >> No, sharks, sharks fin. >> All buddy. >> Yeah. >> What's that one? >> It's wild. You've got to watch it. >> I don't know. >> All the Everest ones, that one is, I think it's Mero, M-E-R-U. >> I know, honled and I know LeClaire. >> Two goats. >> And I've watched them. Also, the base jump in dock. I watched that one. >> Sure, you wanted to do that too. >> I would like to do the base jump thing. But then, as I watched that documentary, characters from the documentary started disappearing. >> Yeah. >> And then it actually couldn't finish the documentary. >> Yeah, they're not doing exit interviews on those ones. >> Yeah, but I appreciate them and their courage to do that. I did think the squirrel suit would be sweet. >> Yeah. >> You're kind of going through there. So much fun. >> Oh, my God. >> Especially going under a bridge up over there. >> You know when most people die, mountain climbers? >> At the bottom. >> Wait, wait. >> It's all the way down. >> Wait in line. >> Oh, you're talking about the climbing, not squaring. >> So once they get to the top of like, say, Everest, they think, okay, I've conquered this, right? They let their guard down. They get a little complacent.
- Splat, on the way back down. - The way back down, that's awesome, man. - You don't splat, you don't splat. - Or you die waiting in line up or he's this. - Yeah, Chuck Pogano as Nick Barato just putting out in my ear there. Chuck Pogano just gave a team meeting speech. Hey, it's on the way down from the mountain top. - Yep. - Is whatever you end up actually dying, you look at Everest, it's not about, 'cause you get complacent, you think you get to the top of the mountain, it's over. It's not your halfway home. You're halfway, you gotta walk all the way back down that, and it's on the way down, that you let your guard down. - It's on the way down, that you don't prepare as much. It's on the way down, that you're not as mentally tough. That is when we need to be at our absolute best. That sounded like a team meeting, coming right out of your mouth right there. - And the reason, they don't make it to the top? You know why that is? 'Cause they look up. - Don't look at them. - They think it's impossible. - Don't judge me, no. Just next finger hole, next foot hole. - I'm not doing any of that, I'm not doing that. I'm doing a walking one, a hiking one, I believe. We used to call it walking into woods that I learned other people call that hiking in Pittsburgh. It's just walking into the woods. - What you're doing, I mean, if you're not going to go after, 'cause I'll do it with you. - Well, you're really? - I mean, we can go for a walk after the show. - No, that's not what I'm talking about. - That's not what I'm talking about. Joining us live from Anatico, Ohio, is a man who's heard a lot of these speeches from coaches and hits, shaped him into the man that he is now. College football national champion, Super Bowl Champion, Rattacup, winner, ladies and gentlemen, AJ Hock. - Yeah, yeah, Hocko. - Hocko, I had a dream for about the 15 seconds. - I'm all in, I'm all in, don't want these guys hold you back, baby. You got chase, we're always chasing greatness. If you want to climb K2 and all that, I'll come with you. - Okay, so you're coming to? - Yeah, I could hike or walk in the woods. I don't know if I can get the technical, but you know, it's walking in the woods. - Yeah, it is, it's just a walking up thing. - It leads to that. If we hike one little baby mountain, we're gonna be like, all right, now we gotta go to the tallest peaks. We're gonna find those and then we've got, start base jumping and then squirrel suiting. - You got over a camel back that one time. - Bingo, well, I didn't, remember I was an option. - Oh, there was Hocko. - Two hours no way. - Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what I meant. - You've done the little back, yeah. - You signed up for that. Did you know how long it was gonna be before you went out there? 'Cause I was, I had my shoes, I was ready to go and then they told me it was gonna be about two and a half, three hours. - Two hours, don't you think you could cut that in half at least though, if it's three hours for anyone else? - Exactly, that's what I'm thinking. We can knock it out, go ahead. - So it is according to Google AI, sure. So if you wanna hike to the summit of K2, just standard expedition. - Cool. - It is 28,251 feet tall. - Love that. - And it's just gonna take you roughly about 45 to 60 days. - 45? - Yes. - Two months. - It does sound like something you'd set up for. - Yeah, so I mean, yeah, and you know what? Hey, but not bad 'cause the sightseeing I hear over in Pakistan and over there, it's great. So you know, not only that, you can do much. - Get a great meal afterwards or beforehand? - Well, I need to, all right. So I'm gonna start, I gotta start curtailing my algo. Okay, I can't be having that shit show up while I'm going to the bathroom. Perfect GoPro video tour of me walking. - That's doable. - Yeah. - That's what I'm talking about. Put our jackets on. - Is that K2? - We could throw them on. - Throw some treadmill. - Everest is a cause of maybe, and then just start walking with the cause. - Everest is 55 to 75 days. - We need to find a new mountain to climb, metaphorically. - Here. - 'Cause it won't be actual mountains, because of them. - Shot caps on where he lives, you can start out there. - Well, that's what you said. - You got mountains? - You wanna start out there. - Oh, yeah. - Okay. - Got the flat arch. - Oh, we can walk those. - And then we've got. - You can go scuba diving with balls. - I can't do that 'cause of my ear. - You know, I get that. - I know you had a situation where you hit your head, but I think we can work through that. - I was attacked. I didn't smack my head. I was attacked. - Roll wave. - Thank you, I was swinging it away even. I think crashed on my face. I was attacked by the ocean. But somebody was just attacked by something in here. - Ice machine. - Okay, ice machine, happy that's all. - Bone dropped a plate of pancakes, I thought it was. - I think it was bone getting up. - God, everybody has their lines. I mean, yeah, bone doesn't deserve that. Now, since we're not talking about sports and pissing everybody off here, we have two hours a day on ESPN. One more thing, not about sports, just about life, celebration, welcome back, folks. - Hey, thank you boys, thank you boys. Yeah, it was great two weeks. I'm a dad now. So the most important two weeks of my entire life and honestly, like, filled with so much love and joy and all of that, love my wife so much. And thank you guys for holding it down. I really appreciate it. - Now, we're incredibly happy and pumped for you. We did miss you, I will say. Bruce and Mitt held it down for you in the back there behind the glass. Very important times of the football season and very important time for you and your family. We wish you nothing but the best in this entire process. Did we sell it to you properly on what the first couple of weeks of parenting is like? - Yeah, 1,000%. One of my biggest takeaways on this entire thing was actually that everything that everyone told me about being a parent in this shock me was 100% true. Just how difficult it is but also how, you know, euphoric and great and amazing it is. On both ends of the spectrum, everyone was 100% correct. So it's just been a great two weeks and I've missed you guys as well, to be honest. And thank you, Bruce, Mitt, everyone else for holding it down. - Well, yeah, you and Reagan are gonna be incredible parents as you've already experienced here and that baby boy is loved by all of us. It is great to have you back there. - Yep, appreciate you guys. - Just wanna let you know that. - It is great to have you back. - It's great to be back. It's weird watching from the other side. I don't know how many shows I've ever missed on this program. And so being on the other side is very strange. - Bruce, you did a great job. You should be incredibly proud of yourself. - I didn't, we can kind of drop the K-P. It is great to be back over here. I feel like it plays my strengths a little bit more and I have much, not that I didn't respect what Foxy was doing next to me, but much more appreciation for everything that Foxy puts together and does every day. - You did a great, Bruce, actually. Way to go, Foxy, welcome back. - Thank you, boys. - All right, boys. - Okay, here in a matter of moments, we'll be talking to Kirby Smart, head coach of Georgia. He's also a feature of the Sabin documentary. The Sabin documentary, six episodes. All six will be dropped at 6 p.m. Eastern tonight on the ESPN app. The first episode will debut on ESPN's channel, six p.m. Eastern. I think they'll be debuting those each week, but if you have the ESPN app, you can watch all six and stream them. Here's an exclusive clip about winning an Astro Championship with Coach Nick Sabin and how it feels the day after. - After a national championship, I went out and celebrated till about 4.30. Get a text message, six o'clock in the morning, staff meeting 7.30 a.m. Staff meeting, 7.30. You thought somebody might get fired, and I'm like, "Well, sure, nobody can fire "which one has championship." But why would you have a 7.30 meeting? - I would tell the guys, hey, we did a great job. It was a great season. You know, it's great to win a championship, but we need to move on now. - I almost fell out of my chair. - Like everybody else in the world, they probably think we should get a free trip to Aruba and spend a week celebrating them, but things in a program that need attention go unattended. Seriously? Somebody's got to get people to get back on track to do the things they need to do so you can be successful. There's no history in sports. I mean, the history is the history. But if you're going to focus on the history, you're never going to ever do anything in the future. - I think we're about to learn a lot about what life is like at the top of the mountain, metaphorically, and actually. Joining us now is a six time national champion, two times as the head coach of the Georgia Bulldogs, and a man who said, it felt like somebody's getting, "Surely, no, it was good fun." Kirby Smart. - How you doing, coach? - What's up, what's up, guys? How y'all doing? - Hey, thank you for joining us. Have you seen that clip before? And when you're asked a bunch of these questions about Coach Sabin, what does your mind immediately go to? - That was wise to that piece, man. That was something that I had not seen, that obviously the part that I was in the interview, but I had not seen him, and of course Jeff Allen, one of the greatest in the world, to watch that clip and hear that, and think about that staff meeting that morning. There has been a lot of text messages sent about that staff meeting that morning, actually, that's the champion, Jill. That was an all-timeer for me. - How much of that have you taken into your gig now as the head guy, Georgia? We talk about the Sabin tree a lot, how it's everywhere in college football. And I think every single coach is like, I go there and I learned what was possible, what you're allowed to do. How much of him have you taken into Georgia? How much have you monitored after yourself? And after your national championships, do we have 6.30 AM meetings instead of 7.30 AM coach? - No, I go out too late for that. I can't make it up that early if we win, we win one. But no, I had a lot of appreciation for Coach Sabin. He was so good for my career and so many of the stories like Jimmy Sexton tells me all the time, you do the same thing he does now. And I'm like, well, that's not exactly true. Some of my staff might think that I do, but there's a lot of differences and I've become kind of my own person. Obviously, the first couple of years, I think we did things almost exactly like we did them there and it kind of morphed into our personality, our personality. But man, those memories and those times with him are just some of the best ever. The best part, Pat, is that there were two 6.30 or 7.30 staff meetings after national championships. One of them I was a part of, the other one was the one that I left to go to Georgia right after we beat Clemson and that was the Lane Kiffin one. So Lane did not enjoy 7.30 staff meetings after national championships. I can honestly say I missed that one though. So I jumped on a plane to go to Athens. So I missed it. I don't know if Lane made it either. - I wonder if there's any of the documentary about, I don't remember if it was when,
You were leaving, but it was during the championship run where they were scared about potential, who's recruiting what and who's giving away information, just the balance of college football happening in front of our eyes here in the Sabin documentary will be special to watch. Now, speaking of special this weekend, big one in Tuscaloosa. I don't know if you're gonna make it. Obviously you got a team. We got premiered a night down there, okay? Hey, told me I need to wear a sport coat for this thing. - Wow. - Yeah, no way I walked the red carpet to hell with everybody there, I will certainly show up and show my love. Bryce Young's coming back to be the celebrity guest picker and your team undefeated. Number two team in the country is coming in to Tuscaloosa to take on this Kalin de Borled Alabama squad. Just your mindset as you head into another massive weekend against Alabama, and do you know what you have in your team at this point? I know everybody's talking about your strength of schedule and who you played and against Arkansas. You guys are doing one-on-ones doing commercial breaks. Do you feel like you know your team yet? Or is this weekend a big one for you as well as you judge the type of squad you have? - It's a big one for us too. I think you're honestly you're finding out your team all year just like it was in the NFL. You know, you play these games that are really tough and physical, you never know which way it's gonna go. So much is put into this game, and then there's gonna be another one the next week. So we're trying to keep our guys level headed. Yeah, it's important. Yeah, it's a hell of an opportunity on a national stage, a brand game for both teams brand. We think we're a physical team, they're a physical team. Let's go find out. And let's see who's, you know, maybe most physical or the most ready right now. 'Cause both of us got to get better if we want to go where we want to go. And the only way you're gonna get better is play good people. So I really am excited about the matchup. I do think they are a much improved team and an extremely physical team. - AJ has a question for you coach. - Coach, I've seen where you've talked about how physical their team is and how they've been had much more success running the ball this year. I guess there's so much talk about the weather, the situation going on, the wind and all that. It's schematically for you guys. Is it almost like you have a couple of different game plans that you might have to pivot to depending on how windy it may be with what the situation might look like? - Yeah, certain. We can't replicate those weather situations, but we can think about them. You know, you study other games out there that people have played in those conditions. It's shaping up to be a little less windy and less rain than we expected, but who knows? You know, it may change that way. And I think both teams have an identity that they can fight in that kind of weather and grind it out and then they can also be really explosive and throw it around and that's what's the beauty of it. Both defenses got their hands full, trying to defend the other offense. - Kirby, we're in a crazy world of transaction seemingly and not so much for your program. Go ahead, Tom. - Yeah, coach, before the season like when I'm researching, I look at it's, oh, Georgia's the youngest team in college football this season as far as average by age on the roster, but then you also look at it's, oh, they're also one of the most returning experience teams as well in the country, which has never happened. So how has that been? Is it, is it, you know, grooming players from when you recruit them? And you know, last year you guys were young, but they got a lot of experience into this year. How has that all worked out and played into this year's team? - Well, we try to retain. We want to retain our players best we can. We think we develop them. We'll take our development versus, you know, yours or your programs any time. And we want to keep our players our players. So that takes a financial commitment to retain our players, but it also takes going out and finding guys you need. And we're not like oblivious to the portal. We've gone out and got some players that have helped us. We got a couple guys starting this year. But for the whole, we want to recruit from our state. We want to grow our players and develop them. We think they're better in our system and you're three and you're four. I can't say that we got more in year three and four than we have in the past 'cause we're still a young team. But we're always going to be a young team. I just want to be a young talented team. - Kirby, a lot of people are, you know, buying a whole new roster every single year, whole new quarterback, whole new everything and having to instill a culture quickly. Some people have been able to do it. Some people haven't. You've seen some organizations, franchises, programs collapse because they get a bad class and there's nothing really that you can depend upon. You doing it from within feels very abnormal in this state that we're currently in in college football. And when did you decide that that was going to be, we are going to focus on keeping our guys as opposed to replacing our guys for a championship right now? 'Cause it feels like it is a world where you can get tempted outside as opposed to sticking with your guys. When did you make that decision? And is this how you see Georgia going for the foreseeable future and no matter how much change happens? - I don't know that we made a blatant decision. I will say that it's a conscious effort to retain players. I think that's important. You want to have a good relationship with them. You want to communicate with them. You want to show them how they're getting better. We spend a lot of time each day saying, "Hey man, here's your drill work." We call it drill carryover. We're getting you better and we're showing progress in guys. But the one thing you said in your comment is that it can be like the best of the world or the worst of the world. You see collapse in some places where they didn't hit it right and then you see the rise where people did hit it right. Maybe they hit on a quarterback and the championship game has been portal quarterbacks and that's the way people have gone about it. But we've kind of been in the middle of that. We've been really consistent, but we have not been at the top here recently, meaning the final two teams, but we've been really consistent. And I think the consistency's come from the continuity. And when you start going into the feast and famine world, you don't know what you're going to get. If you miss on a quarterback, you miss on some portals, you can have those up and down years. I feel like we're a model of consistency and physicality with what we've done over 10 years. Back-to-back Essex, no one's talking about it at all. Number two team in the country. Congratulations to you, Kirby, doing it your own way. Now your own way we're starting to learn about some other ways. Two, go ahead, Con, man. Yeah, Coach, it feels like the consistency kind of starts on those bloody Tuesdays. And now we're hearing about other schools, Florida in particular has made headlines about thumb doing bloody Tuesdays. So maybe you have a little bit respect for Florida or it's screw Florida forever. But how have those been? Are those kind of the days that separate the guys that you know are going to stick around forever? And are those also the places that you'll go and maybe grab a guy from in the transfer portal from a school that you know is doing bloody Tuesdays? Yeah, a lot of much to do about nothing. Everybody wants to make a fight about who invented bloody Tuesday. The bloody Tuesdays was made it long before I was playing before I was born. I know when I came to Georgia, they talked about bloody Tuesday and Wayne McDuffy, one of the legendary coaches, coached a lot of places. A lot of people know Wayne McDuffy. He would scream bloody Tuesday, every Tuesday. And I had nightmares about it. So nobody invented that. We don't plan to invent that. I would love to take players from places that have that kind of physical toughness because you know it's kind of ingrained in them. But it's funny because when ETM was here, the back we got from Florida, he came up to me. One day I said, coach, we do bloody Tuesday too. We did every dollars every time in Florida. It didn't work out for us the same way it worked out for y'all. So it's not like, you know, nobody has that ownership identity that the only ones that can do it. Well, we might start doing it here, actually. Yeah, we might start doing a little bloody Tuesday, you know, start the next, a ball. You talked about quarterbacks, Feast or Fam, and you have a guy who has a lot of experience and seemingly playing better than ever, go ahead, Ty. Yeah, and you also talked about physical toughness coach. And I think the first thing that, you know, a lot of us remember about Gunner Stockton was him coming in in the SEC championship against Texas, getting absolutely tattooed. And it was like, oh man, they might stretcher this guy out. He bounced his ass right back up and was like, hey, give me the ball, let's do it again. But what have you noticed about his maturation process from maybe that moment until now? And does it feel like, you know, you are much more confident in like, hey, this guy's going to be able to go out and kind of get the job done and take us where we need to go? Yeah, the first thing is I don't want him taking those shots. And then last year he took two, he took one of the Auburn game, one of the old misgames that were worse than that. People don't talk about him, but they were the most vicious hits. I've seen somebody take and he bounces right up and gets up like a rubber band. Got to be one of the toughest kids I've ever been around. But I prefer him not take those hits. But yeah, we got a lot of confidence in him. His execution, he understands defenses. I think the offensive staff here does a hell of a job preparing him for the looks he's going to get. And it allows him to make the plays he makes. But he is a tough human being that hops up every time. Are you going to be watching all six episodes of the Sabin Doctor Night with your team? I think it's only like six hours or so. Yeah, I would love to. I always like to be there at the grand opening just to honor him because so much of my success has come from what I learned from him and I have so much respect for him. And once you become a head coach, you respect him a hell of a lot more. The story that didn't get told was on Christmas day when he texted me one time. We're going to play Notre Dame. And he hit me and said, hey, I think you know, I know we're planning on coming down to 26. But I think we need to come on in today. We're way behind. And I thought, I'm sitting here in front of a Christmas tree with my three kids. And we're going to come in on Christmas day. And of course, we did. We worked that day and we called everybody in and got the work done. But the best part of it was after we beat Notre Dame, we beat them considerably. We blew them out. I was like, I'm sure I'm glad we came in Christmas day. It made a lot of difference in that 38 point win or whatever it was. We went by. But he probably won't remember that tonight. But it meant a lot to him. And he said he wanted to get out of the house. He had a lot of West Virginia family members down there. And he wanted to get out and go to a good work. No offense. You need to watch your mouth. You need to watch your mouth, coach. All right, safe travels into Tuscaloose. Obviously, the weather's crazy. Thank you for taking the time and good luck to your team. Thank you, man. Go dogs. I was that calm and down the track. Yeah, you know it. Ladies and girls, a beast, a beast of a coach. And he talked about consistency. You know, feast or famine. It's like back to back SEC champions. But since they haven't won a national championship and haven't gotten to the national championship, everybody just thinks, Kirby's lost it. Kirby don't have anymore. It's like, they might have just been brewing for the last couple years. And this seemingly, and I say seemingly just because we have no
idea what any of these teams are going to look like down the road. We have no clue how teams are going to perform every single week at this stage. And even later in the season, we don't know. Seemingly might be his best team he's had. Oh, yeah. And while in Gunners playing better than he's ever played, you put those two together. That's quite a mix of George Bulldog football. And then go to the other side, Keelan Russell. Yeah. They're saying we haven't seen anybody like him before. Come in the high. Just in football in general, we haven't seen anything like what Keelan has the capability of doing. It's a big one in Tuscaloosa. Happy the weather from Jim Cantori's big old weather brain will not have much of an effect on the game the day leading up to it. Definitely the game, though, seems like maybe just a little bit of wind might be a little bit of wet. But if they cover that field, field should be fine. Fans are going to be crazy. Environments going to be awesome. And kickoff time is still scheduled for 630 Central time 730 Eastern. You know, there's some things that happen around ball that are be fuddling, be wildering. AJ, you know what I'm talking about? I think I may have an idea where you're going to this. Yeah, because there's some things that happen. He just look at the screen, complete disgust. And you say, what the chuck, Chuck, what do we want to chuck in this week? Let's chuck and get into this thing. I tell you what, they didn't disappoint when it comes to what the chuck plays. This first one, Pat, you, as you know, we've talked about it at Nazia. I was a special team's coaching college, special teams coach down in the universe. Miami, one of the first things that I learned as a special team's coaching, coaching, punt pressure and punt return was make sure the punter does what? Punt the ball. Punt the ball. Yeah. Need to see eyes on a ball being punted. So no matter how many you have up. So this is right after a penalty. It was a fourth and four. They got a procedural legal formation. It went to fourth and nine. And then all of a sudden, and Joe D, who we have a lot of respect for, Camela, he's the special teams coach at the Raiders. He decides to drop three guys from the line of scrimmage, show a light box, a five box. I've never seen a chucking five box. Have you ever seen a chucking five box? I've never seen a chucking five box here. Look at this shit. We've never seen this before. Town digs is my family like this. You're upon a matter. One of the best athletes to ever kick a football. Period. Freak out. Just in history. Freak athlete. Four returners. Four returners. Four returners. What are they setting up, Pat? Well, I mean, what do you think? The only thing Joe D Camela's Joe D. Joe D. Joe D, Joe D Camela's been a special teams coordinator for a long time. Good one. Great one. He was with the Dallas Cowboys for a long time. He's bounced around the league. We have a lot of respect for Joe D Camela's. I have a lot of respect for Joe D Camela's. He's now Las Vegas Raiders' best teams coordinator. It goes from fourth and fourth to fourth and nine after an illegal procedure penalty where the gunner was off the ball. Okay. Gunner was supposed to be on the ball. Gunner's supposed to be off the ball. In that punt, Eliza hit one 65 yards in the sky. Okay. So a re kick. This is it right here. Procedure penalty because the gunner wasn't on the line. Eliza's ball was a snap from the 35. Boom. That's a 65 yard ball from line of scrimmage. 75 yard ball from where he punted that. Eliza is an absolute weapon. Now if you can get a team to re kick, you do that. Yes. Because all these guys are tired of shit. And can this guy hit another 65 yard bump? I think yes. Eliza good. But we're going to have to see that is normally the decision that is made. I don't know what he was thinking here on the fourth. This isn't like fourth and 20. Fourth and nine is still very getable. Four returners back. The only thing we were thinking is that he was going to run the deception returner. Four returners across the back. Just like four returners. You imagine the coverage unit all of them going down there and going which one of these guys do we tackle all of them just right. I don't know. So maybe it was some super genius decision. If they were going to scatter across the field and one of them was going to end up with it and the other three were going to fake it. There's a chance that he was thinking like that. But a five man box. And then show them what the ends. The guys do crashing down. Go up to the top view of this one. I think we have a top view of this one. You can see it bail out. Here's the bailout of the three. Go ahead. We're going to show pressure. Let's get the hell out of here. Turn our back on everything. They could have threw them. Yeah. 21 he comes wide open. Right. Yeah. Literally any and then show it. Go back to Foxy. Watch him crash done. Just absolutely crash down as if they're trying to set up a return right now. That ball still has to fly through the sky. Say hi. Say hi. He crashes down to make sure he gets this guy. What are we? No edge? What do we say? No edge? No chance. And if you're the punt guard, it's like no edge. Let me get some here. Big run takes a hit. Pop some. I've seen you do that. Amen. Thank you. I got out of bounds before taking the hit. Thank you. No big deal. Unchuck and believable. I don't know if a riser called this himself because he saw them dip down or if Toby said, Hey, if that guy crashes, go ahead and take that thing. They obviously didn't get the chuck and call because if you're going to throw guys out like that, then those edge guys, certainly whatever you thought the call was, maybe they thought it was the call from before because they did the same thing on the first one. And now you don't have any edge. You're just going to dive down and crash down. I mean, you don't have to use all your pump protection guys to even block five guys. And there's Toby who's pumped up. I do wonder if a riser was just looking for this or they were giddy after this. They were chucking giddy on a canned city sideline. They were all like, yeah, Toby was, you know, because Toby best in the league too now. Yeah, Hall of Famer Hall of Famer, especially. He was over there giggling. But for the Raiders, you can't help but just say, what the shook? We think Joe D Camilla's will get a fix that and figured out. But man, a punch out on a kickoff return. Yeah. A pin on the one. And then what we think was a live audible by a riser to pick up a first down. That makes you go, what the chalk to the Raiders, but also a good chuck and shit from the city. And this gave me chuck and audita right here. This fricking sequence. Chuck and audita. You had audita. Oh, it's whenever I'm not a hard burn, but the couple go. You got too much. Oh, they asked the reflux. You know, you got some great. You got too much stuff in it. Yeah, happened to Tony. Hey, so they got a third and two right on the two yard line. Everybody in the world's thinking, what chuck and place coming from Philadelphia? Guys, push, push, where the chuck is the push, push? Last year, what we'd look up, they did 30 some, right? Because we're saying, hey, Jason Kelsey, right? Ever since Jason Kelsey, we can't run the chuck and push, push anymore because we don't have that goddamn animal, you know, moving guys out of there. They did, they did a last and a 60% clip. So here we go. We're going to run a little one back power. The ball gets blown up. All right, bad timing. You guys documenting this to guard hits it. Luckily, Jalen held on to this ball. Now they got fourth and two. And I can't chuck and believe this call. Everybody else stopped this chuck and film. Everybody else in the world. Like, I go back to coach and last year at Chuck and Baltimore, right? And I never once. Okay, Bonnie D'Alessio, our secondary coach I worked with, double D, good pies on from Youngstown. It's always bunch routes, two by two, three by one, motion, shift, pick right, Andy Reed, Sprit right option, shovel pass. Okay, hey, let's line up in a nice little fart gun, three by one. All right, drop back and give me three little individual routes. Nothing to it, right? What the hell is going on in Philly? And then these guys go, guess what happens after this incomplete, forth down again, no chuck and push push. Now they're driving down the field. They're up mind you, up 10, right? It's right after that. This is the drive after it. Okay, that's stop. Here we go. Third and 10 here, third and 10. Okay, they're running a little cut. Go back. What chuck and defense we run in here, fan, Joe, pies on. We're going to get another swing route with nobody in the frickin' flat. You got coop over here, he jumping. And now this guy, and what the Jesus chuck and cry? He's fricking tantalin me. Look at me. I got guaranteed he got rung up by the league on that. It's a good hit. I mean, he is kind of catapulted helmet there. I mean, we all would have celebrated this 30 years ago, but in today's ball, you can't chuck and do that. Jones, make the chuck up. Jesus wake the chuck up. So that's another fit. They got the first down. Nobody covered the flat. Kyron Williams, 15 more yards. They go on the score here. And then we can't move the ball. They score again and they lose this chuck and game. They're one should of won this game. They're on the one up. Can't go chuck and gangster on this shit. He just checked gangster. He went rogue. It's like past rushes. Okay, I don't go get a sack in his first 10. That's a run. You can't get a sack on a chucking run play. Yeah, yeah, I understand. And then I, okay, I'm going to knock the livin. Okay, great. That makes you go. That's like that. What the chuck? All right. Do we have any other what the, oh, no, this is beautiful. This is just beautiful. I mean, we got us a three by one open set here, right? The situation is second nine high red zone, 25 yard line, right? Who's on the hash for the New York Giants here? Who's on the chuck and hash? That's number one. That's number one. Okay, Ty, he's a what? He's a chuck and dude. He's a chuck and wide receiver. He's not a tight end. No, he's not a chuck and running back. Okay, so we got a little split safe.
stop oh see ya we got a chuck and problem right here if you're in a chuck and press box right now and you're Matt Naggy and the offensive Greg Roman up there they're chucking going we got these chuck and sons of bitches here you know why why because they got a mic linebacker covering a wide receiver one of the best ride receivers in the chuck and NFL one-on-one down the pipe didn't all very well all them is that a cornerway down here one that's the thing if they want to scan to do a one yet that's a great match-up situation you better make a check there chuck it's a what are you doing there whenever you see Malik neighbors right across from you well that's the thing I'm looking to my safety I'm saying you better be high I'll be low and buddy but you better be high on AJ when we played split safety defense their disguise a little bit we had you know a problem at three right on the light mic line back that's the guy we're protecting there's a call we call mini and all of a sudden we locked the corner up all right on this outside guy you don't have to jam a running back and then we play three over two you heard coach say I'm talking about cover seven three over two right so we can protect the mic so if this guy goes vertical he ends up belonging to the safety all right and then the mic can come off on number two running a drive route twenty twenty one here is got his eyes on the wrong two guys we're thinking he should have bumped that inside to where Malik neighbors is the actual and he's running to a half a half landmark is chucking two yards inside the hash or excuse me two yards inside the numbers it isn't on the top of the numbers and then who you're going to go you're gonna get over the top of scataboo because you want to go get a chuck and helmet down your face and have him run through your face as a safety so what you're saying watching the series in a cardinals defense you said what the show it happened twice no let me show you there's another one two seconds here really we don't have that what he said yeah right okay later on they put a tight end at three and they said okay we're good we got number one same spot we're good we're chucking good let the let the play call let's go guess what happened study can't have chucking Todd's makes you say what the chuck I love that congrats Chuck has a great fun time kind of breaking that down speaking of fun time MBAs doing college games this preseason you see this oh yeah pretty cool last night Tyrese Halliburton in the Pacers were back in his college alum Iowa State in his first action in 472 days or something like that how many days are coming yeah yeah 472 472 days Tyrese Halliburton played in front of his college crowd in a preseason game for the Pacers against Minnesota he got back into the field we saw a warm-up where he didn't miss for like 20 minutes I know this a huge day for him I'm happy they got to do it back at his college because of how much love he has for the cyclones joining us now to tell us a little bit more about it about how he feels how he felt and what it was like to go back to college if you will ladies are gentlemen Tyrese Halliburton how you doing man I'm good I'm good how's everybody doing life is great over here so the 22 Jersey is that for sale now or what what what happens no no it was a spur of the moment thing I have it in my suitcase I haven't unpacked it so I gotta figure out what to do with it oh we would love that thing autographed in here we love that I don't want to put much pressure on you or maybe we maybe you just hang it up at the house because if it was a legendary evening can you tell me a little bit about the emotions last night first time playing actual basketball even though it's a preseason game in 472 days and doing it in your college arena can you just talk about how you felt going in how you felt coming out of it yeah no I felt good going in feel good coming out you know it's just exciting to be back on the floor obviously playing an aim just special for me almost almost teared up to have court on my Taj Smith stuff I thought that as much as I could and just you know had had fun with this one to be back at back home and at I was taken I think the fans enjoyed it too you know the cool thing about I was there's no professional sports team so I think that's a lot of people's first you know NBA experience stuff like that so I think that's a special for everybody how do you feel we saw the warm up we saw your first make I think you go for 7.6 assists or 6.7 assists in one-half of action what was it like getting back out there against an NBA opponent yeah it was good bro you know I think when you miss some time you know it's like you're in your adrenaline flowing coming back it's like you're playing so fast like feel like I was like a rookie again I was like tell myself like I got to slow down bro I was going so fast but you know I think it's good that's what the preseason's for and they will help me get prepared for game one which I think it's exciting AJ has a question for you Tyres yeah I guess mentally like how has it been coming back from this Achilles like are you are you thinking about it like when you're out there like how has that been throughout this super long process I would imagine felt great to get out there and have some real action but I guess mentally where you at with your injury no I feel great man moving feels great you know I think that's the exciting part of being back is you know I've had so much time to prepare myself for this moment and my body feels good I think I think that my opponents and are a little like more worried than I am you know my teammates and the staff like last night I was bringing the ball up full court and it was guarding me full court and he was like you feel good you feel good while I was while he was guarding me full court but I think that's just a fun part about it and you know I'm just excited to be back how many preseason games do you guys have we have four we play four okay so these are huge for you I assume in the process of getting back yeah yeah just get my win-back bro is all those things so I think that's you when you get hurt you appreciate the little things more the preseason's usually a drag but I'm enjoying it just being on the floor again you look great but you were feeling a little bit like Halibar girl last night you all that for that those first four minutes I was dying for a time out I was like it's like because you know Tim rules they've got the mellow they play fast too and the mellow came up to me the free toll line was like I'm tired as hell so I know you're tired I was like can we both can we just agree that both slow down a little bit I was dying out there but I'll be good once game one gets here we believe in you and I like the car loud system is you are going to be running and it is a show I don't know if you'd ever be able to be in good enough shape for that coming off of the break that you just did but there's been others that have had success post Achilles go ahead con man yeah it's how he said a 472 day so congrats on that coming back but going into the game did you reach out to Jason Tatum or Kevin Durant even who you played on team USA with just asking about like hey what should I expect here as far as how my leg feels and just kind of the emotions and feelings going into it yeah I didn't really talk to those guys before but Jason texted me after the game we talked for a good while after the game and I just kind of what I just said like man I feel like I'm playing so fast and he was like yeah trust me bro it feels like that for a little bit but it'll like once you get out there and play a little more he'll be fine I think the crazy part is obviously he came back in the middle of the year so you know there was kind of like a not a rush but you know I'm sure he wanted to get back to the game slowing down again and being who he is right away I'm fortunate enough that I have the preseason to kind of work out the Kings a little bit but all those guys have been great for me to talk to and don't even chance I was going to do the same thing it wouldn't kill his recovery him we talked after the game and before the game too just seeing where he's at cuz obviously I'm a little ahead of him so yeah the Achilles thing is as growing through a little brotherhood which has been cool yeah I'm happy to hear you got a support system around you Tatum came back and didn't miss a beat we are assuming the same for you as we all have Pacer's interest because when you guys are winning the NBA is a lot more fun to talk about yeah we didn't have a lot of NBA to talk about last year okay now we're all the way back but I don't know if like the networks know that are you in are you in are you in are you in I'm in go ahead tone yeah tirey's I was just looking at this get at New Orleans game one not on national TV is it I think it's on to be maybe it's also on home shopping network if you get that as well what's going on with that are you guys playing on Christmas see that what is their disrespectful about I know you probably talked about this before and we've talked about it I don't like it game seven on pace to have 50 hasn't played since we love New Orleans we're just down there good luck that's on the zone that's a smack in about you feel that way as well or what are your thoughts on how this whole seasons about to unfold with your return I don't I mean we just got to play who's in front of us you know what it'll be it'll be fun we haven't won in New Orleans like five years so we're not going to act like I can't lose on the zone now we're not going to act like it's a walk in the park and New Orleans a good team and I'm I don't want to give them any more bulletin board material that I've already given them so they've told anything I've said in the last six months I'm sure they showed it a hundred times so I'm looking forward to going back to New Orleans yeah but I think all you're saying is wrong the zone is my I mean if a tree falls you know that's what they're saying yeah but I'm in are you in no you're not in does zone no I'm not in the zone AJ are you in does zone yeah I think I'm in well I'm definitely go because the Pacers are playing on here I want a full game on the app just like oh two points there you go you're not gonna see his first actual two points are just gonna let it be a stat line across your phone I see it I'm sure someone's gonna tweet out the clip of him scoring his first two points back so I'll see it there oh so you're gonna be in does zone by proxy of somebody else sure I'm gonna be in does zone I've decided you need to watch the game cut
Watch the game. I signed up to watch your game. I will cancel immediately. How many of the games on or do you have? Do you know? Oh, I think every every game that's not on national TV which I'm sure 82 games. Yeah, 82 What But you're like every single game the whole year. So look at what 82 games up to zone. So they're gonna be auto Paymenting me for the entirety of the NBA season watching at his book. Yeah At his bar. Yeah, it's gonna mark up again in the city. Obviously love that. Okay, wait I got to get the zone in that bar. That's kind of The zone will be in varsity social club for sure. Okay. All right. So if you want to be in The zone you got to go to varsity social club, which I certainly knew the name of you You can be in the zone at your house. You can be in the zone on the go on your phone. Sure. I don't even think they have a streaming app Do they like we were on the zone at one point you got to use it for a football because he's still a Canadian resident or whatever So we can do it on our phone we can watch Ty Reese's with turn after game seven Achilles tear when he was on Paced finals game seven Achilles tear zone paste to have 50 we can watch on our phone in Those zone. Yeah, wow. So I don't even have to be home to be in the zone because I can watch it on my phone Wow feels like it's almost an honor to be in there now as opposed to on actual national tell Congratulations, man This guy is a superstar. Yeah, this guy is superstar looks the part for sure coach Pagana has a question for you Ty Reese Man does he look the part? Hey, Halley good to see you back out there coach Um, you looked awesome. I can't imagine how good that felt to be back with your guys and back on the court I know you battled through the rehab of the Achilles Um You also battled through some other things. I know you were on some Took some hits on social media some Stringles something some steroids this set and the other kind of got blown up. I'm looking at you last night though Like it looks like you put on 10 12 pounds of muscle and got and I'm making light of the other thing Along with the Achilles rehab did you hit that weight room pretty hard to because you look jacked out there Yeah, yeah, I caught time. I appreciate that man. I uh Had a lot of time on my hands especially early, you know, because you're not doing as much stuff with your legs You know the early parts to Achilles rehab is just trying to put some weight on it do some calf raises BFR and stuff like that So a lot of upper body especially early. I was like my goal going into the year when I got hurt I was like I got hurt game seven. I was like 180 pounds And I was like how do I get to come back around 200 and then You know shingles blew me up. I was like 220 after shingles. I get that back down So I'm like 205 right now. So my goal is to play you know majority of the season around 200. So I feel great and It's like fun if the strength feels functional as well like I feel better movement keeping guys off me all those things So I appreciate that coach appreciate that Absolutely. Yeah, well the way he described it on the dry race board was certainly different than how he landed to play in with you He just wrote fatso to jacked question, you know, and I like that he described it that way But there was a lot of reasons Why you were in that position you having to battle in Achilles recovery and then also shingles for An extended amount of time not able to sweat for a bit to get back on the court I could see the emotion. I could feel the emotion and could you sense it in the building tie as the last question for you here Yeah, Tirey's obviously for you. It's probably a little bit more special, but that environment last night How much different is that then like a typical NBA game and like post game like what did your teammates think? Did they say like wow you weren't kiddin Tirey's like this place is as big of a shithole as you said it I had to sneak that in there actually well that was really cool watching you play there last night It was appreciate that tie. I will I'll get to the answer the question, but it was It was also what if what if your guys think when you were like Kidney cuz the greatest place I've ever been I didn't see that It's all that all that all them tears for a hell All them tears for a hell we beat you guys this year pal. So I don't know what the fuck you're You did you did. I'm happy for you man. I'm happy for you for real Did you get choked up when you were talking to crowd because you started speed talking there real quick It felt like you wanted to get out of it But you also wanted to show your respect. Can we go turn the volume up on this? On the on the video Hell yeah, here we go. Good speech from Tirey's last night Yeah, you got a little motion right there Cycle Was it supposed to say power Hey guys, we're so thankful that you guys came. It's been four into 72 days since I played a game of basketball I won't want to do anywhere else step my second home. I love you guys so much I would stay so special to me. Appreciate the pace of organization Timberlost organization making this happen. Let's have some fun. Please appreciate you got great speech Great speech diaries. How are through. I didn't want to go. I didn't want to be long-winded. I I definitely was uh When we can't when we ran out it was so loud it was like It like brought me back to like, you know college. I was thinking you like it was crazy in there And then like to answer your question time by like the preseason like NBA games Especially the preseason can kind of be like fans are like man Do we really want to go like I know people paying their hard-earned money and like you know, the starters only play so many so much time and stuff like that and I mean, it was it was sold out in there. It was unbelievable Student section was full of you know, everybody was like that was crazy I've had a lot of people be like that should be a thing. That should be a thing more common where you know Because you know teams they get to pick where they play their preseason games So you saw like the nuggets played at Colorado the Warriors and the Clippers played at Hawaii We made it I would say like that's a cool thing It's exciting for for schools to have that and I would love to do that more I told aunt because you know aunt obviously the timbrels had to want to go to aims and agree to it And the only way that would happen is if ants my boy and said of course he would do it and I told them I said I said, but if you want to go to Georgia, I'll go to Georgia like we can go if you want to go to Athens I'll go But I think that's a cool part about it and people had a lot of fun with it because it's just a different environment the preseason can kind of be a drag So everybody had a lot of fun. I think it's brilliant and I think the NFL should think about it. Yeah for some have some of their Yeah, like a homecoming type Preseason game if they're gonna play at least a half or at least a quarter and he could promise that you can drum up Some real interest in real environments in places that don't normally get it I thought last night was brilliant. I thought it was genius especially you bought out the student section Hey way to go. Thank you for being a part for the lads was a smart decision But it did it felt like an event as opposed to just a preseason game that I would never pay attention to and we all paid attention to it because it was your return But also I think the environment certainly helps brilliant stuff out of you guys Congratulations on returning and we can't wait to watch and follow along all season long no matter how the Pacers are doing We'll be doing good. Appreciate you guys You're the best. Let's show it's Tyree's out of burden. Yeah, Tyree Here but I was saying there. Mm-hmm. We'll certainly be paying attention. Oh, yeah the entirety of the year AJ no matter what Does does zone have a big package of NBA games? Yeah, they took over for the bankrupt Fandall TV. Oh Yeah, that we're that one into bankruptcy. I do believe Had some new people in charge there for the last couple years that thing ends up down into bankruptcy And then now the zone has picked that up the zone has been very good for sports globally American sports globally they had NFL packages globally for a long time Obviously the boxing and the fighting packages. They have the soccer packages So does zone has been committed to sport for a long time saw the opening with the local regional NBA coverage falling make a bid for that. That is now all the local games on the zone. So I'm in Yeah, I'm in for Canelo and Billy in da zone. Yeah, I'll watch it that I'm I ain't watching on Wednesday I'm just not doing it. Well, I am some sporting alley. Sure. I will watch the night on Amazon Prime as the Dallas Cowboys hosts the Tampa Bay Buccaneers This used to be a segment we really look forward to What do you mean? Yes, too Game put it up, please Okay, oh my gosh What I don't like it one bit coach P for piss. Yeah, I don't like it one poop bit I don't appreciate it and I know that we have a long season left boy. We have a long season left In chuck needs to get going quick Chuck the Cowboys are favored by eight and a half at home with Jalen Daniels in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming to town We won't put as much stock into your picks until that first number gets a little bit bigger than the second number Now nine and a half is the spread. Okay. I just got updated. It has moved from eight and a half to nine and a half Since the show has started the Cowboys become Bigger favorites and nine and a half for tonight. Chuck you have about four minutes to Kind of lay out your case and make your pick. I'm excited to see which way you go so I could fade it I'll ride alongside you. What do you like? How do you like your coach? You know what Rookie quarterback second start on the road we've been through all these numbers. Herbie did a great job of Of documenting all this stuff and talking about all these numbers. You got a really good offense versus a really good defense Todd Bowles can coach defense And he's got those guys playing at a high level these numbers project that obviously so
You know, they're not gonna be able to run the football on Todd. Can they get them in enough third and longs and can they get pressure? That's been the one thing that's been missing from this Tampa Bay defense is pressure. They're also missing a safety. And you look at Tampa's offense versus Dallas defense. They both struggled. Again, you got a rookie quarterback on the road, loud environment, communications gonna be, you know, very, very important. You know, can Christian Parker and his Dallas defense, can they do enough to stop the run? Get these guys, you know, in third and long, play tight, you got Joey Porter, right? You got Doron Blant, you got Malik Hooker in the back, you got some dogs up front, Quinn and Williams in the middle. Stop the run, play tight coverage, make this guy throw from the well and you should be able to cover that number tonight if you're Dallas. - Ooh! - Ooh! - Okay. - Oh! - You know, really? - I think you should be able, you know, to cover that number. Some good, like, can perish in McCallum, two corners for Tampa Bay. Watch that matchup on their outside guys on CD. I gotta believe that, you know, Todd's not gonna sit there and double one guy and leave the other guy alone and allow 17 catches. I gotta, I gotta, he's way smarter football coach than that. So soft coverage. What are you saying, Tameco Ryan's isn't a smart football coach? - He's calling for this one. - They just found, they just found the matchup and they executed and the guy was able to go for 17 and I, yeah. I need to get off the fricking night. - Okay, so who are you taking? - They can Dallas and I'm laying the points. - Ooh! - I just think that a baby shot. - Oh and four, they've played, they've been one score games. Dallas has a fast start and they get this thing rolling and I don't know if there'll be enough guns to get the bleeding stopped. - Nine and a half is the spread currently. It was eight and a half to begin the day. It's leaning even more into Dallas Cowboys favor. Chuck Pogano says, "I'm with the boys." AJ, do you love it or hate it what Chuck Pogano has done here? - I love it, but I figured, you know, I made my pick at the beginning of the show when it was eight and a half. So I think I should be able to get the Cowboys eight and a half. - Nope, that is not the case when we're making our official picks digitally after this show ends and we send to big day with big shrugs, breaking down all of the big plays. Also breaking news, special announcement. There's an update to the field pass situation with the NFL and with college for us on the sidelines. Stay tuned to our social media channels for more of it. - Ooh, okay. - We'll make our official picks week five of the NFL season kicks off tonight in Dallas. We are so incredibly lucky that we get to do this. Be a friend, tell a friend something nice and might change their life. Big shrugs, go on and take it away. - See, well done. - You think he watches the end? - Oh yeah. - Yeah, no fan interference there. Oh, that's what's out of the park. - I fucking hate that. - That happened, that's good, right? That's good hosting out of you. Way to bring that up. 'Cause we didn't get a chance to chat about it there in the first two hours of the show, which we certainly should have. I don't like what they expect from people that pay a lot of money to sit front row at baseball games to do. Is there signs there like, hey, don't eat, if I'm a little boost up and I paid how much money to sit there front row at the up, I'm trying to get a baseball. That's why I'm sitting there. I'm hoping for a baseball. So for somebody that just reached their hands out and get it and then to get purplocked out of there. And then basically blame for whatever happens. That's a crazy expectation for fans that are paying a lot of money to not do. Now, I know there'd been a lot of different situations. I think Yankees fans have reached down into gloves before and pulled it out. I think you can't have that happen. - No, certainly not. - And I know the Bartman thing happened in Chicago and there's been a lot of ruling about fan interference, but I think it's a really high expectation for people that are in a state of euphoria to tell them, you better keep your hands completely behind this wall whenever you're seating right on top of the wall. 'Cause my natural reaction if a ball was flying to me, especially for my team in that moment, would be to put my hands out to try and catch that. Turns out they make the right call, I think, and in it all, it ended up being a double. The guy would not have caught it. One gets in, guy goes to second base. Next batter strikes out immediately. It is over. Then they walk this guy out of the building. Hammer on him. Like this asshole basically ruined the entire night. I just don't think that's a fair expectation of fans in the moment of how they're supposed to act, now they're not supposed to act, but I do think they got it right. Like if that guy's hands weren't there, I think it probably would have been a double unless there was an error on an overthrow, which I think if I'm a Yankees fan, I could say, "Oh, 100%, he's gonna get that back." - I'm not against the risk. - They're really good baseball team. - They don't make any mistakes. So you probably would have got thrown out at home, actually. So there's actually benefit of the Yankees fan. - Okay, so that's a Yankees fan. He's very jaded about how the Yankees have done in-post season play for the last five, 10 years or whatever it is, but I like that they made the common sense call of it would have been a double, but I also don't love that that doesn't count as a home run. I don't love that you're expecting that guy not to do that in real time. I don't know what the right answer is as an on baseball fan, but if I'm that guy who paid the amount of money that he paid to sit front row in that outfield and that fucking home run is coming right at me like that, I'm gonna stick my hands out every single time. So to get escorted out, the Yankees fan, that was just a wild scene. That was an absolutely wild scene in my eyes. Right call in the end. How should I view this? - No, yeah, I mean, it's not a homer, you know, like that as a baseball fan, like that's just part of the game. Those are the rules. - Do those guys know that? Hey, don't reach out at all. Is there like signs in front of them? Like, hey, if you cannot by any circumstance stick your hand out over top of this thing or it's going to get ejected from the game, even no matter how much you paid. - No, definitely not. I think you've just, you know, if you've watched baseball enough, you know that that's a possibility. And again, it probably is in fine print. I'm like the tickets or something like that or when you go through that long list of bullshit that you're just skipping past when you buy your tickets, it's definitely in there. But it should be a case by case basis. Like you mentioned in the World Series a couple years ago when the Yankees fans are trying to rip the ball out of Mookie Betts' glove. Like, yeah, obviously those assholes should be thrown out and I believe they got lifetime bands. But like, this is a case by case basis. This guy's going off instinct. He's super excited. The Yankees are about to tie the game in an elimination game in the sixth inning. Like, okay, I mean, yeah, they don't get a homer. Everyone's somewhat pissed. It is the right call but to walk him out and eject him from the game like that is bullshit. So I think it should be a case by case basis. But if any Yankees fan is bitching about that this should have been a homer, like they're wrong. You clearly see from the side angle, it wasn't going to be a homer. So like, I had no issue with the call and it was one of those things where it was just kind of like, you know, the way the game and the series had been going, like, you knew that was going to happen. I thought maybe hey, there's a chance that, because they called it a homer on the field, obviously, because it goes into the crowd. It doesn't stay in the field to play. But then when you see that side angle, it's just so blatant, it's not close. - I like that they made the common sense ruling. I like how this all went. Kicking that guy out, I mean, there's what eight hands in there. - Yeah. - He just so happened to be the one that ends up getting ejected out of the game. I think that's a bit of a, and did everybody say in the stadium about this guy as he's getting walked out, like, hey, you didn't ruin anything. - Not sure they shit on him and hurled death threats out of him and stuff like that. Like, that's just a cost of doing business, unfortunately. You know, it's not right, but that's the way it goes. - Yeah, he's thinking. Your doctor seems a little down about baseball. - No, not really. I mean, I had honestly like no reaction to it last night. Like, this is what I expect. They were already down two games to none. Like, look at that. The proof is in the pudding. Like, you know, Aaron Boone is good enough in the regular season. Like, he just can't, they don't win in the postseason. They just don't. Even if they won last night, they still would have had to win two more games and go back to Tampa and win again, which they were never gonna do. They didn't have judge the whole postseason. And it's one of those things where like, they're do need to be changes, but it'll be rinse, repeat. Everything will stay the same. So it kind of just, it is what it is. You enjoy March through, you know, the end of September. You see who you're playing in the postseason. Like, they have always done this. They look like world beaters beat the shit out of the Red Sox. And then they play a team who doesn't make any mistakes, doesn't have any like brand recognition or like name players that anyone else would recognize. But they just don't make mistakes. They're just guys who go out and play hard. And, you know, then like the first or the second game of this series, he's have five errors. Like, you can't win a postseason game like that. Like, you just can't fucking do that. And they continually do this year in and year out. Nobody had ever done that, right? That's the most errors I believe. It was the most errors in a single postseason game since the Yankees did it in 1976. '70s. That's a long time. It's just tough because the expectation was always like, this team should win or compete for a World Series every year. And like, I don't, the ownership group like the Yankees are worth so much money they make so much money. Like, I think they're just content with that. It's like, we'll go to the playoffs. Like, who gives a shit if we win the World Series? And now we might not be able to watch them and tell, you know, 2028s, so. Raise me to good news though. You know what the good news is. Yeah, well, see, Buster only basically said this this morning on get up that, you know, like, we're going to be locked out next year. So I wasn't expecting that, you know, who's not locked out? I'm not watching this fucking Savannah. I know. They, I'm not doing it. Coach, baseball. Hey, boy, college baseball will be great. Oh, my, oh, is that hot? Savannah, banana, baseball. Think of how long the college World Series ended though. Like, how long ago? Like, yeah, that's a massive gap. I'm just saying we still, there's still baseball for you. It's not the same. fucking care. No, I know you don't. It's not the same though. It's not the same. No, we're going to watch some college baseball next year.
our baseball scratch, you know? And, and we're definitely going to watch Savannah Banana Baseball. Yeah. That's right for yourself. Players don't have to go play internationally. Is that right? The provision? Yeah. Other pro leagues. Yeah. So if Savannah goes to Canada, we can do it. No, I think Mickey Mouse. I think they said you can't go play in a league where it's mandatory. They have to take your penis out at least once a game. I don't think they want their athletes doing that. They never done that. Savannah Banana. I don't think you never. I'm pretty sure that's probably never. I don't think. Didn't the White Talks play for the bananas get tossed yesterday because he did that. He said it was a force to have it. He took his penis out in the 6th inning. There's the Yankees game here. That's hilarious. It's a dancing off. It's funny. Oh, the dump if you will. Yeah. I'm fucking soul in my eyes every time I see that. I think you got ejected. Look at them. They're like, fuck this guy. This is enough enough of this shit. No, they're not. They're pumped about. I got to what do you get ejected for? Exactly. I think it was doing a little bit too much. I think they said dance. Another hot said you can't be doing this. So the Savannah bananas, great energy, great baseball cannot wait to watch it all spring and summer next year. Let me know how it goes to scratch our baseball itch. And they did put a provision in there. If there is a lockout to the lads, you definitely got to do some banana ball. If you'd like to. If anyone goes and plays for the Savannah bananas and any pro player, they will not be welcome back in the clubhouse. They were in Boise. Guaranteed. Yeah, so that place out. Yeah, they sort of they sort of LSU stay crazy. Yeah, they're incredible. I'm a big Jesse Cole fan and I love what they're doing for sports as a whole getting youngs involved in selling out of stadium or an arena is obviously an incredible feat. But this is the baseball that we have next year. Okay, Ty. So you need to just buckle in straight. You're going to see moonshot ataka going to a Savannah. And he's going to be hitting it literally out of the entire stadium. Now he's going to be playing in Japan. And I might tune into that. I might, you know, watch the, you know, the swallows play. Yeah, first the Bears, about the sharks, the Giants, the Giants. Yeah, the Shane Jones, the Nokia Army Giants, where the hell it is. Last night, it wasn't just Savannah banana baseball and Yankees baseball. We put the graphic up the guardians. Congratulations. They're up to one over the white sucks. The Brewers get a huge win over the Padres. They move on. We're staring down Miz and Rio prime time action going forward. This Brewers teams for Rio feels like Skipper Murphy's got a squad. And then the Dodgers beat the Braves. We appreciate Chris sale and how his season went and how the Braves want Dodgers seem inevitable. And who knows how long that can last with everything going on investigation wise. Yeah, we'll see because the Dodgers and the Brewers now play each other. And the game one probable are the Miz versus Terrick school. Yeah, that's kind of been the the Brewers. I don't want to say they're Achilles heel, but last year they were unbelievable all year. And then they just got absolutely starched by the Dodgers when they played him in the playoff. So it's kind of like they they had the best record in the majors this year. So they were the best team. But like you said, the Dodgers are kind of just inevitable just too deep, too good, too much talent. So we'll see though if anyone can beat him, it is the Brewers. And then that is likely looking like I mean, anything can happen obviously because the rays are very, very, very good. But it feels like whoever wins that series is probably going to win the World Series today eight o'clock on TBS guardians and white socks as we continue to power forward in MLB postseason play. Sorry to the angst. No fans. You shouldn't be. I'm sorry. You you're you love baseball. They got what they deserve though. That's kind of the that's the way it goes. You can't you can't just think that you can buck every trend because it's the postseason now and things will change. That's not the way it works. And I'm happy or Dodgers not down about it. It's seriously not like I mean, it stinks that I'm more so worried that I'm not going to be able to watch because like that feels a lot of my time in the summer. And when you have fucking three kids under four, like sometimes you need something where you can just like go by yourself and like not listen to anything, but like a ball hitting a bat a couple of times, like kind of keeps your sanity a little bit and to not have that like that that stinks big time. So we'll see. Hopefully they can get it figured out. Buster only knows something. I don't know. So that's buster. Yeah, we're not going to have baseball next year. Maybe you just go back rewatch like the 2007 season. That's not a bad idea. I'm starting to finish when I won the World Series. Oh, I like that. Have one of your smart TVs. Just play it at night when the game would be naturally. Might pick up a new hobby. We'll see. I don't know. It's a banana ball mountain. No, not my dad texted me pickle bowl. Oh, yes, my dad texted me and he said, let me see here. He's probably summited all the highest mountain. Damn near. The way Tim goes about hunting deer. It certainly feels like he like showcasing his ability to cascade. I don't know if that's a proper one. Yeah. I climbed the Al game on. So they never done that. Boom, big deal. Check that off. So I am Mount Kwame or kind of. I don't remember a single moment of that. That might have been where we were hunting when he said we got to go to two haulers over. That's where all the deer are. Okay, two two haulers over. So we got to go up, down, up, down, and then that's where all the deer are. Okay, I didn't see a gross overpopulation of deer in that particular hauler versus the other haulers over there. Just felt like a nice 3.34 a.m. hike with the boys. Sure. And McAfee was looking for. And now that is maybe why I'm looking to get back out there to scale these mountains because the good old days. And then get if you successfully kill a deer, you know where you're coming. Yeah. You got to come back with that thing just like what Chuck said. You get a little content. You got to go ahead and bring that song bitch all the way back out of there. And this is in the state parks in the forest. You can't have any. That is a rope around neck. Yep. Over shoulder. We're walking that thing hiking that thing climbing that thing out. Anything that needs that either just looked up. It's almost a mile high. 5,284. There you go. Climbed everyone with. Can you ride a horse in? Can I ride a horse in and hunt and then, you know, throw it on the back of my horse? Yeah, I think you could. I don't know why Tim didn't do that for us. Now I think back about it. Run a horse or two. You know, let us kind of get bucked while we're looking for our books. Instead of the rope, he got that thing and then put it the head over top of you where it like a backpack. You definitely feel dressed that thing, live in real time. So that you are getting that thing in the in the woods there. And I guess you could. What are the reverent? Yeah, just like that. Revenue we put on him. They slept in that horse. Little dangerous. You know, as you walk it through. True. Hunting land. True. Look in like a deer. Well, you then you put your you put your orange hunting jacket over top of the deer on the outside. Oh, they call it shit. There's a deer. Yeah. A lot of these new school dudes. He likes them. They're using ebikes in the woods. Yeah. No, no. That's fucking genius. That's what they're made for. Getting deer out of here. Mm-hmm. Vendison is not terrible. Tim has some new little recipes. He's been debuting here in the office in the Thunderdome. Had some vendison sticks the other day. He felt really excited about. Little jerky. And he should. Had some jerky. Dry age. The other one. Gun season coming up. Smoke, right? Yeah. I think he was already out there. I think he went out. Go an arrow, probably. Yeah. I think he went out two days. See, do muzzle loader and all. Is he do all of it? Used to do muzzle loader. Now he's just bow and rifle. You know, he's got a hunting place down in Southern Indiana. Oh, I've seen pigs. He's making that thing sweet. Yeah, I know the Amish people. I don't know. They're good shooters. The Amish. I don't know if they have the modern state of the art guns that Tim. Tim's about to go just. He's got a little trail came out there. Look at this one. Got an eight point, a ten point coming. It's like. I don't think any of these Amish guys have killed any of these deer for what? A hundred years down here. I kind of ripe for the picket. So Tim's going to go live in the woods down there. I don't know how many tags he's getting, but I think he's going to be waiting on a. I think he wants to try to pick that up. Maybe get in a hunting with Tim. Tim will take you down there two and a half hour drive down there. And I did a couple times growing. That's not really my thing. I don't really like just waiting around. Now if you give me up. No, Tim's tracking. We don't wait around. I said I'm not doing that. If you give me an oozzy and say fucking go hog wild spray as many bullets as you want. I'll consider it. Go hog on. Yeah, you can go open a helicopter. I would do that. They do you say? I'm like, uh, yeah, like an M6, you know, M16 or like a like a gatlin gun. Yeah. I don't know. Oh, yeah. I don't know. I'd fucking do that for sure. I don't know if you're going to be able to do that. Yeah. Um, what is this that you're showing me here, Bruce? MLB put out a tweet that says MLB has proposed returning to a 154 game regular season. Best of seven division series and opponent selection and wild card and division series. Starting in 2029, shortening the season to 154 game schedule would create a standard weekly off day benefiting player health. And it would allow the addition of up to eight more postseason games by moving to a best of seven division series format. Beginning in 2027, higher cd clubs and wild card and division series would select their opponents. That's pretty sweet. So this is a part of the new CBA that everybody's pitching. So MLB, this is you win the mob, you win room. So now we're in the time of, hey, this is what we're offering. We don't know why it's not being accepted. It happens to the NFL every time there's a CBA negotiation. The NFL will have their sources who have microphones in front of them and they will leak things to them and say, this is the offer we made. They'll withhold a lot of the offer, but withhold a lot of the things that are potentially on the back end of it. But here's the high level offer that we are making. We have no idea why the players don't accept these. So then obviously the public narrative gets into a point. These players are spoiled. These players are brats. I would die to play in this league. I would be lucky and thankful to play in this league. They're lucky to play in this league. And that is kind of how it all gets going. But everything we have heard from this particular negotiation is that they're way off. Just completely way off. We don't know what's the biggest sticking point. Is there like one or two biggest sticking points? Southern cap guaranteed money. I think that is
players to say absolutely no chance, right? That is the only sticking point. Yeah, okay. I assume all this other stuff players like cool, cool, cool, cool. Yeah, whatever we Yeah, because that benefits the owners. Hey, we take away some regular season games. We can tell you hey, you get an extra kind of off day, but we have more playoff Games. That's where we make the cash. Hey, listen, we're getting ready preseason games, but we're adding real games. Yeah, not that's what the NFL did. That's what the NFL was done. I'm not saying regular season games are preseason games, even though it kind of feels like the season actually starts whenever we get to Play us for baseball, but they're way off allegedly. And that's what Buster said this morning. I didn't hear the exact quote. I just heard him basically say that like, you know, the Aggies are going to be able to sign anyone when the lockout starts. So we just did it like matter fact. Yeah, casually. There's a lot of arguments. The players are going to make Here's the payrolls of the teams that are still alive in MLB as we wait on the White Sox Dodgers, 339 million. There's second highest payroll. Brewer's 19 White Sox 24th braze 28th in the Guardians 30th. How many teams in a week? 30 That's why the whole like competitive balance thing is bullshit. You throw out the window. So it's gonna be tough. Well, it sounds like the salary cap just from People coming on targeting. It's not so much salary cap as it is just like hey, you can't do deferred payments anymore. That's the biggest thing. I Think the word cap just can't be in there. Yeah, I think I mean could this go more than one season if they're both who's gonna give in MLB, oh Well, they they should It's players can it's different football. You can't go like we're locked out. We're not gonna go play in the US XFL and make somewhere money These guys can go play overseas somewhere. Not gonna be making a good baseball. Yeah, not gonna be making it anywhere in your Obviously talking about yeah, but they're not gonna go broke the tensions were saying like the NFL NFL PA one the NFL Just banks on the NFL players go and broke and needing to kind of break as there's always the idea in He's I'm there's a lockout. I do like that the NFL and the NFL PA have come together though. Do you see this JC treter and Commish coming together to make one statement about the celebrations happening in games rescinding fines changing the way they operate That's good news. I think hearing that the NFL and the NFL PA have come together on anything to make a decision or Conversation is good for this next stage of The NFL PA NFL relationship with JC treter at the head of it former player. They basically came out and said there was no real Rule about not being able to drink a drink So we kind of talk to the NFL the NFL said you're right We will take these back, but can we at least reiterate what we don't want we don't want violence We don't want to use guns or weapons or gang related signs We don't want it to pick smoking or any drug use and we don't want any sexual stuff happening Got kids watching out here got a lot of people watching We don't need to be letting that thing swang or anything We need to make sure our celebrations are what they are and I think if the NFL PA and the NFL continue to work together Great news Yeah, you can you can come together on little things and hopefully someday you can come together on some bigger issues Yeah, I mean, this is a good gateway in zoo. Hey, there's nothing about peon like fake peon on anybody in that That's a natural nature. I mean, I don't know. That's we've said I think that's subjective if that's sexual in nature It's so hard to officiate you get down what the offensive pass interference Not actual to me like and then for the officials have to come in here and try to decipher okay This sexual is it not is this a drink is this the why are we putting that on them? I don't know? Yeah, cuz CD Lamb tonight is gonna when he's gonna catch a big guy or And then he's gonna drop the ball He's gonna do this right. Yeah, he's gonna do this right here, right? No, not the second one No, he does this does the low one this one. What is that just that this point for first time? Don't be a fucking old man. Okay, cuz that's what you're acting like I like Camaria Taylor I don't know if this is the one. Yeah, this one here, and it's a good point for a first on others are starting to do it as well But this could be You know if you if the refs really want to get into it everything with a point, which is what the refs do when they call first down. Oh, yeah Right that you could be especially if they're jacked Oh, I'll be a little bit of a bigger. That's a rightful third off six. You got there You know that is any point could potentially resemble a pistol. Yeah, you're right So that I think a lot of players are saying like what are you doing? That's where the thumb comes in That's don't have the yeah, that's where you can't go here Yeah, but that's an old-school gun. I mean there is sign up. Yeah, there's some 3D printing guns. I'm seeing on the internet too I don't like what they can advocate. Yeah, that scares me on child powers Really? It was pretty fucking crazy. Yeah, that scares me to actual death Especially with the things that are said sometimes by people. It's like so wait. They can hide these things anywhere Metal detector though, no All right, we'll just bank on the map a bad shot. I guess that's what we'll just bank on a noppy and very accurate as we go forward I'd appreciate the NFL and the NFL PA coming together Brian McCarthy NFL PR He came out with a tweet saying a lot of people talking about the refs and the flags and the flags and there was 16 Accepted penalties in one half of football this season. So it got us pretty crazy He's saying a Last year, there was more flags in the first couple weeks and then it settled in By the end great news this year more flags at the beginning. Let's assume it's gonna settle in But we have seen this before these are a refs and the league trying to set precedent on what the season's gonna be chuck as a guy That's been very close with the officials over the last few years Yeah, 100% and they have their rules Clarifications points of emphasis every year and so we always see a big spike in the preseason and there's no more You know the only three preseason games So we're just seeing a bunch of this happen in the first you know three to four weeks of the NFL season So yeah, it'll it'll level out They discuss this stuff all the time They're obviously guys get graded down for for calls that shouldn't be made flags that shouldn't be thrown Take a deep breath. Let's just make sure we're throwing it for the right reason and I think you know They'll find their footing. We should settle in two refs getting suspended crazy one for two games Yeah, you know because the way he talked to Train McBride and then automatically wanting to get aggressive with a player after getting bumped on a football field whenever you were standing close to The action the NFL said he can't be doing that that can't be what it is How do you think this all ends up because it feels like what's setting up for these players and refs and coaches and refs Are not going to be able to really discuss anything without a flag being thrown this has been going on for a long time I mean if people were right down there listening to our headsets where we talked to each other as coaches We've been we've had some animated conversations with these guys forever and it goes back and forth and just like the other sports We're you know hockey officials or or whatever they get after each other and they're and it's good fans like it But you just don't cross the line, you know, and I think with the way social media is now and all the cameras to this one right here with Tray McBride He's pointing a camera look at yourself. We caught you, you know, you just you just can't he just can't do it anymore Yeah, I I don't love what is about to happen. I Don't love what's about to come from all this because the refs right for Lee. So are coming out and saying our guys are getting in trouble for saying stuff Do you know what our guys and our women because there's four now four women rest five women rest Blonde ref zero oh miss red. I got a chance to see her after I went to Ole Miss and She dropped a hell yeah damn right to me and I was like I didn't know you were Ole Miss. She's a hottie taught me for sure I didn't she's been around for a long time now. She's been in it. She's trailblazer in the profession and I think even she has Come out and said like what it is like down there Especially whenever coaches are fighting for their lives and their jobs players doing the exact same thing and it's a physical sport You're fighting like hell against everybody the type of mentality it takes to be a football player and to be in the NFL You might not have the most perfect way of speaking or communicating to each other I don't like the precedent that's happening because the NFL refs association Rightfully so has been like well, we like it both to be monitored and if it's both going to get monitored There's a lot of football guys who've been in football for a long time. We've done this just like James Harris And I've been learning a new way to tackle. Mm-hmm. This is like whenever they want through the entire heads up initiative to change it There are coaches who've been on a sideline for 40 years who have let refs know that they think they are Fucking them completely with what they're doing in players as well. There's players that are very Vocal with the refs and I think there's relationships between players and refs that are good for the game that happen Even if they do get heated every once in a while feels like we're trying to get to a point where that doesn't exist anymore I think that's bad for the game Absolutely. So that's why I didn't like the two games suspension. I know a lot of people are saying it well They're representing the league and they're representing the sport and everything. It's like yeah Maybe they are actually. Yeah, those are the types conversations that happen down there. We need more respect I like a message to everybody But I think we're staring down the pipe of a flag just like the variable flag happening In very big moments for something that isn't that big of a deal But we're kind of laying the seed for that right now with this well And you assume that's what they said like there's been no word about variable and his entire penalty aside from variable saying Hey, I can't have this happen. So you kind of assume that the rust messages. Hey, yeah, you guys are suspended But instead of getting pissed just throw a flag give him 15 yards Then you're not going to hear any more shit from whether it's a player or coach So that's that's really what kind of sucks is that I wonder if this weekend we see more of those yeah and for your coach I'm glad we got it out of the way. I don't know if you got out of the way I don't know if you get that out of your system. I think that is who he is I don't know if the good ones they've always come up to you though and they said hey look You're about this close. See this thing right here
here. I'm about ready to. You want to cost yourself and your team 15? Maybe this game. Now I see why Trey McBride, that was a third down and short, and the guy stumbled into him, basically tackled him. It should have been a, probably should have been a flag in a first down. But that guy just, just been around forever. Let's go up to try, they say, hey, look, I may have missed it. Whatever. We didn't throw a flag, but we need to de-escalate this thing right here. We need to calm this thing down, because I'm going to have to drop one on you. We saw it differently than the NFL saw it, and I think it's because we probably see what's coming in the future, which is not a haven. Is that a subjective call, though, if a coach crosses the line? That's what I'm trying to figure out. Is there parameters on how they speak to you, what they say to you that will be a flag? Yeah, everybody get a list of words that are in a lot of phrases that I don't know. Can we see that? I don't know if there's a deal, but it's like, when it becomes personal, and you start MF and somebody, and it becomes not, hey, bad call or whatever, and it crosses that line, and it becomes, you know, an FU use whatever line. All the good coaches do, all the good coaches work the refs from start to finish. And players, there's a lot of players that talk about refs. I even as punter would talk to refs, because kick off, I'm with the refs, feel going with the refs, punter them with the refs. So I always had a open line of communication, I thought, with the refs. And then if I thought there was something going wrong in the game, certainly would let them know they would chirp back, and then we move forward. There was a replacement ref. I told this guy he's going to be back ref in middle school football, not even high school football, if you continue to embarrass the game like that. He almost shit his pants. So I knew immediately should not continue to talk to this guy, should back off of this. And I was doing that entire period of full chaos with replacement refs. I just think at the NFL level, the relationships and how long a lot of these people have been there, you gotta let the lads talk to each other. Speaking of talking to each other, Carly Urse on the sideline has garnered a lot of guns. More so now than ever before. Maybe it's because of what has happened with the colds, where the colds are, what the expectations are, or there's just more of a spotlight on Carly who looks incredibly fresh on every single sideline. Chuck, you would know more than anybody else about coach in a relationship with the Urse family. And obviously, Carly is the eldest of the three daughters. So she is the acting majority of majority, but I think they're three. She is the one who has two votes. How do I say that? She the principal at whatever. Carly is eldest daughter, main owner. C-E-O. K-Lin and K-C also a part of that. All three of them own equally, but Carly is in the position to make the decisions. Her on the sideline, I don't know if people are just learning about it now, or if they're sick of it. Chuck, your thoughts on the Urse family and how they run a ship and how Carly is both appearing and actually being in you? Nobody's ever seen anything like this. It just looks different to everybody's eyeball, right? Like, why is she meddling? And she's the owner. So she can do whatever she wants to. From day one, when I stepped in that building, she was on the hunt to learn every part of the professional football, personnel, scheme, offense, defense, she wanted to know everything. She would talk to me. She had people in the front office that she would talk to. She would spend countless hours watching tape learning, trying to become very, very familiar. She knew at some point that she was going to be in this role and she wanted to keep this team and she wanted to excel at it. So I mean, I even find myself like, because I'm old school. You got a bunch of old school coaches out there that are like, why are GMs down there? You know, why are why are owners? This is the only owner. So we never saw it, but a lot of GMs you're seeing on the sideline now. And people get paranoid, especially if you're oh and four, oh and five, right? And you think, why are you looking over my shoulder? Hire me to do a job. If I don't do the job, wins and losses, we know that's bottom line business. Then you can either keep me or let me go, but you don't need to be standing, looking over my shoulder while I'm trying to coach his football team. A lot of people say that. Carly has always said she's not looking over the show. Just trying to learn what happens on the day to day. How many years is enough years for Carly to know what the hell is going on a sideline? I guess that's for her to kind of decide. This is her comfort zone. I guess this is where she feels comfortable and she wants to be next to her, her players, the players would say, this is like normal to them now. They look at her like another assistant coach, another Shane Steichen, this guy, Luana, whoever, like she's she's around. She hangs out. She knows these guys. She has some questions. She's got a relationship. She's connected to them. So why not? I mean, Chuck was it was she she was not acting on her when you were head coach, right? No, Jim was Jim. How much did Jim and you chat on a weekly basis? Once a week every Friday. End of the week. Fast Friday, you guys leave the building. Ryan, I would go down to the office. We talk about the week. We talk about inactives. We talk about injuries. We talk about the opponent. What the game plan was. Hey, we got to do this. We got to do that. How long? You know how Jim liked to talk. Yeah, how long's that me? It was long. Is that normal for everywhere? I mean, it wasn't always long, but you know how Jim likes to talk. We did a lot more listening than we did talking. How is that normal? Every building owner normally has a meeting with coach and GM at least once from what you hear. I don't know because I wasn't in every one of them, but I know they have conversations. I know like in Cincinnati, Mr. Brown, like every Monday, the whole staff, they watch the game film together. Offense defense and special tapes. They got to go through every snap. Now that I ain't signed up for that. That would get through it. That would be brutal. What about Baltimore with Peshati? It feels like Peshati's more hands off. Hands off. Hands off. And if he needs to have a conversation or whatever, he'll call you. Get you on a phone and have a conversation, but he's not he's not in there. So I think whenever we've talked to Carly about in the past, he's just multiple years she's been doing this now. She mentioned about I'm supposed to be the one hiring people. I'm supposed to be hiring general managers. I'm supposed to be hiring coaches. I'm supposed to be in this world making our franchise, our brand, our team, our city better. I need to know what the hell's going on in real time. It was her angle. I didn't grow up playing her dad Jim played. He played at SMU. He'd been in the locker room. He'd done it all before. So he kind of experienced the day to day. She did not. So I think what she was saying at the beginning was I just need to know the operation because sometimes there's a mistake on the defensive side, but I'm learning in real time, person didn't get the call or the call never mail in or the call was kind of misconstrued by somebody or was the wrong call and wasn't the players fault. It was the coaches fault. She I think she's been trying to document and figure out what the hell is happening. It's like how long does she do that for? And is this what she just does forever is the owner of the bullets? What does she move up to the booth at some point because she can get similar information? It's become a talking point though. And I think it's because of how cool she looks. Yeah, definitely. She has a game. She has a game. She has a game. Her bills are money. Yeah. Her game day fits her. She's throwing a fit at deliver game day. See, you know, tier point about she said that we're paying these guys millions and millions and millions of dollars. I want to know when we interview them or we talk to them that they they know what the hell they're talking about or they're full of shit. Exactly. That was really what she wanted. That's what she said. I'm being dependent. It is my decision to pay these people millions and guide our ship. And I have no fucking idea what the operations are on the sidelines. So I think this has been a learning thing. How long is the learning journey go for? And how many more cool fits this year? Because that might be the deciding factor. So many. I mean, she's got cool fits for the next decade and a half if she wants to two decades. Never seen her double up. No, I don't think it would. No, never, never, no, she knows. Shoot pump for London. We get to the game. My wife, Sam. First thing we do is like what's Carly rocking today? Look over there. Sick fit. Yeah, it's shoe game crazy. Got a win. Yeah, probably culture going to win. Mm-hmm. If they went to Super Bowl with her on a sideline, what's everybody going to say then? Why is it my owner on the sideline? Yep. Boom. Why the hell? Where's my owner doing? They'll be screaming for it. Yeah, absolutely. Get them down there. What? We got this Bozo running our deal. Get the owner down there. Now, what if they don't win again? They don't win again. And they don't win again. Fireballers. And that's what they're going to say after eight more years of it. I mean, you're Chris. I'm not saying this. I'm just saying that's what people will say. Yeah, people are going to say. We want to play off game this year. We'll be really pumped around here. Mm-hmm. Have one day of South 12, 13 years. How do you feel about it right now? Great. Should have beat the Chiefs. I love the Chiefs. Took them the overtime. Should not have kicked that field goal. If it was fourth in 50, should not have kicked that field goal. A patch bomb stand on the sideline trying to tie that thing. But we're every game is its own game. Jonathan Taylor can make up for everything because how good he can run the rock. Daniel Jones has not played anywhere near a good football. We hope he will get back to playing great football. I like where the courts are. I don't know if we got the firepower. Best team in the AFC might be in division. Jacksonville. Yeah, let's go football. They're pretty nice. I think it's a tight one. They're a legit. They're defense. Let's talk about the Titans a little bit, shall we? Let's jump in. It's time for this week's AFC NFC. Shite division. Here's last week's Shite division. If you do recall, the Titans, the dolphins, the chargers and the packers. Packers get a huge win this week. It did. Huge win this week. Go work. Remember the Shite division is a week to week operation. We are strictly judging coming
out of the prior week. Who is the shiteiest team? Who are the shiteiest teams? Up there at the top is the biggest shite ball. That's their worst team. And then it works down accordingly. Put a tweet out asking people to try to guess what this week's shite division will be. We have not checked to see if anybody has been right. We assume there will be a correct answer. If you're the first one to have the correct answer on X, we will autograph something from the Thunderdome and send it to you. Let's start with this AFCNFC shite division. Who's the leader in the shite house, AJ? The Tennessee tight. Congratulations. Thank you. Kind of a mainstay here in the shite division. The Tennessee tightens just don't look good, don't sound good. And they're the kings of the shite and they have been chucked. Yeah, for sure. Cam, he's had some really impressive pressors. The missus they're taking it right from the field to the presser. They're competitive. They're in these games. They fight. They play hard. They do. They've been coming up short. It's just hard for us not to put them the shite is team in ball, AJ, with what we've seen every single week. Yeah. Oh and four. It doesn't look like they're going to climb out of this position anytime soon. But Chuck is right. Like they've definitely shown signs of hope. Like there's definitely not. I wouldn't say it's hopeless in Tennessee. But yeah, they better one a few games pretty quick. Huge one this weekend for this particular shite division. Who's the second team in there? Who's the second shite is squad? Oh, good question. How about the Los Angeles charge? Yeah. Yeah. There's places to them. Oh and four. We don't like this for the charges faithful. But I think the reason why we have them so high on the shite division is because our expectations coming into the year. Now, it's not just the fact that they're oh three and one against the spread as well. So they're oh and four. They're oh three and one against the spread. They're losing money and they're losing games. Ty, we didn't expect this from the chargers at all. But here we are. Maybe a mainstay this year for the shite division is the chargers. Yeah, without a doubt. And who knew that you know that we might be talking about a couple guys on the staff get fired already at this point in the season. And it doesn't look like it's going to get better any time soon because I believe both Joe and Roshan Slater are going to play on Sunday both of their tackles. We know Beatrice isn't there. So it's just I mean, it certainly feels like it's raining shite on the L.A. Chargers right now. It's raining shite. Yeah. We didn't know. Made it. That's really good. Thank you. No problem. It sounds like you knew the sounds like you really knew the song. Yeah, it's one of my favorites. I think you nailed it too. I think pitching everything. Thank you. No problem. That was phenomenal. Pitch tone. Yeah, Tony pitch. Good. I've been watching a lot of the voice. You're your T's friends of the program. Yeah, we love the charge. We love our stations. We love their practice facility. We like the coach. We like high fives. We like Justin Herbert. We like McDaniel. We like so many things. What? A coast. Yeah, I'm with that too. A coast. I like McDaniel. You guys don't like McDaniel? No. Goofy. He's got. When did you guys say you don't like? I mean, I've been on this train for quite some time. Really? Yeah. I love his pizzazz and I love how much zaniness he brings to the table. But that being said, he feels like a guy that looks at me and he's like, I'm smarter than you and I'm cooler than you. Cause he wants to an Ivy League school. That's why you feel that way. I think I think there's a little bit of that in him. And here we are. He fucking sucks so far. No. What's the offense? It's not just necessarily him. Who's the? Well, if the offense sucks, who's the first guy on the chopping block and ain't the quarterback you're paying $260 million. I'll tell you that much. You're talking about the core name producer. At least before the chargers were fun on offense at Herbert was good. I don't know. You guys are out on McDaniel. I thought we liked him as a person. Maybe just in. Yeah. I like everybody as a person. They've been asked. Have they been asking for one time? I just never thought it was going to work between those two guys anyway. They are about as opposite personalities as you could get. Yeah, I get they're both kind of cookie. But I was wondering how long it was going to take before hardball wanted to like give him a swirly or hang him up on like a coat rack or something like that. And I think it's coming. Maybe he might be coming. He stuck by him at the press or whatever job was called. Who's the third team in this week's AFC NFC Shite Division. Congratulations to tonight. Good opportunity. You can get out. Yes, you can prime time. Rhyme time. You shite team. You can change the narrative very quickly. Tampa Bay Bucks. Oh, and four day win loss. Oh, and four this season against the spread. Oh, and 13 in the last 13 against the spread. I mean, everybody's losing around the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, AJ. Yeah. And the fact that Chuck says the Cowboys should have no problem covering nine and a half. That makes me even more reluctant. I guess to think that the Bucks may be out of this division next week. If they get a big win on prime time, those two Bucks will kill themselves straight into the whole season round. We put them at third there in the Shite Division, because we think they're maybe looking at a promotion to get out of the Shite Division, could happen tonight. And then the fourth thing, congratulations. Oh, and four against the spread this season as well. The Houston Texan. Wow. Two of the AFC South's best are here in the Shite Division. And then the chargers and Bucks make up the final four. We got the Titans as the shite is the chargers, the next Tampa, then Houston in that order. If you got it right first on X with the hashtag program, Shite Division, we will send you an autographed something from around the Thunderdome. AJ, your thoughts as we round out the Shite Division here. I can't say I disagree with any of the picks. I mean, all of them being on for at this point. It makes it tough to argue that they should be out of here. But I don't know. I mean, I think when I'm looking at these four teams, I think the Bucks and the Texans could be on a different level than the other two teams. Maybe I think they could climb out of here a little quicker than the others. Possibly a lot of people are hoping for the Eagles to be in the Shite Division. They're very close. Very close. They were dancing. They were dancing life on the edge of England 12 on third down and Lane Johnson retired because they're so shite. No. It's a Giants fan. Oh, congrats to the Miami Dolphins though, stepping out of the Shite. They play hard. They've been, they've been in it for a little bit and they held their own against how we cover boys. How did we get them out of that? I believe they cover a couple of games. They play, they play the cheese in the liking. Very well. Yeah. Gumpy, Gumpy mentioned them this morning zero times as we were trying to piece. Gumpy super quiet down there. Is he's eating his porridge? No, he's graduating from the porch. What does he stepped out of that? Activision as well. Yeah. I don't know. Whatever he's having the protein puffs this morning. I know that. Check his mouth very close as we're talking about the Shite Division. Nobody's bringing up Miami. It's just good news. Shite Division is done. All right. Let me go ahead and put on the tarp real quick. Let's keep it moving. Congrats to Dolphins moving out. They got promoted out of the Shite Division. It's very much an eye test game. But if you're going o and 13, your last 13 against spread, you're probably going to end up in there. No doubt. If you're going o and four against spread this season, you're probably going to end up in there. Go o three and one against spread. You're probably going to end up in there, especially if you were being talked about as maybe a Super Bowl contender. Then for the Titans, they play hard. They've covered a couple of times because how shite the sportsbooks think they are. Yes. We're going to need to see it though before we move them out. One of them's coming out. I was going to say we got to play each other early season. Yeah. Shite bolts. They tie each other. There might be a chance though. They could win a not cover and stay. Yeah. Titans Texans could potentially be a move yourself out of the Shite Division game. Or they could prove to all of us cement yourself that they're right where they belong. What if this is a seven seven tie? If it's a two two tie, that'd be sick. I mean, who says the Texans don't win, but because the Titans put up a good fight, the Titans move on and the Texans stay. Anything's possible with this shite division? We can only go off what we see. And what we see is a lot of shite football from some teams and maybe some great football from some others tonight. We got to make our pick, AJ. The number moved to nine and a half as the show was live, which is absurd. And our boost is live on draft Kings right now by land, air and sea. You can come join us on draft Kings CD lamb 60 plus receiving arts fresh off of his 17 reception game last week against Houston Texans and Jalen Daniels 40 plus rushing yards were thinking he's potentially running for his life a little bit. We think he's athletic enough to get it. We think CD can break a couple and get 60. We feel good about the plus 150 boost this evening. If you are of age, obviously draft Kings is available nationwide at this point and you agree to gamble responsibly or trade responsibly and not like an asshole come join us on our team ride. AJ, is this your first time seeing this? How do you feel about it? I love this. Honestly, like how, you know, nothing is ever locked. Nothing is a guarantee. But I feel like responsibly you should you should put a few, you know, whatever your your limit is. You shouldn't you shouldn't max it out, but definitely put something down on this. Yeah. Max units responsibly is what a team ride responsibly. We are looking for a responsible gambling because we are setting the tenor for what future sports gambling looks like our generation. This is our task to not be assholes. Okay. I don't like watching the morning show. National morning show and the guy gets up there and says, I lost 15,000 gambling because I thought I had it all figured out and they spotlight the ills of gambling and sports gambling. What we would like to do is tell that person we wish you would have been more responsible. We're sorry that happened to you, but the way we are going to talk about sports gambling is in a fashion where we're not trying to sell the house. No, you're not trying to get rich. We are just strictly trying to have a better time while we watch these games. So tonight by land air and
see we will try to see C D Lango for six D and Jalen Daniels for four T as we potentially find a crown on draft Kings tonight responsibly. Chuck likes the Cowboys minus nine and a half at home. Uh, toxic table at Boston Conner at Ty Schmidt. How do you two feel about tonight's game? Uh, personally is a watch on two things. One Todd bulls job to if this doesn't come home. It's faith Chuck season. So this is kind of the last time I feel like I have the opportunity to ride with Chuck. So I will also take the Cowboys minus nine and a half. And if they don't cover that, I'm fading Chuck the rest of the year couldn't agree more. Well said. I agree wholeheartedly. So better win tonight, Charlie. One half of the hammer dad Cowboys AP tone. You see it the same way the boys do where we're going to ride with Chuck. Just strictly put this on him. And if he gets it wrong, fuck him for the rest of you. I do love I do love passing the buck on the chuck. Uh, but now I'm going to take the bucks plus nine and a half tonight. Wow. Um, so they, they're four losses only by 20 points total. Uh, so about five game, obviously the spread at nine and a half. And then when you look at the stats, I mean, they're, they're kind of statistically better than the Cowboys, but then you have the rookie quarterback. So that's kind of why it's not nine and a half. But, uh, I don't trust that the Cowboys defense yet. So, uh, give bucks plus nine and a half. Okay. You think I'll be able to keep up. Even if Jalen Daniel is undrafted, rookie is the quarterback. AJ has anybody kind of made you waffle or change your thoughts. You were talking earlier about how I didn't eat a half. Uh, I liked it before the show. Uh, every Cowboys better would feel that way. Are you still on the Cowboys? Almost a 10 point favorite? I'm not going to lie. I early on in the show, I was, I was waffle and thinking about the bucks, thinking that this is the NFL man. Nine and a half points is a lot like that doesn't happen very often. But going, I'm going to, I'm going to trust my instincts and go with the Cowboys and go with Chuck here, but also Chuck. If you miss this one, I'm not writing you off for the rest of the season. I'll still arrive with you when I feel like you are on the right side, but I'm staying with Chuck here minus nine and a half. I feel like DAC is playing at a high level. I'm, I'm going to watch him kind of carve this good defense up. AJ's been seeing it really well this year. Um, AJ's been seeing the board really well. He's been going with his gut. He hasn't been overthinking it with that big rock for brain that he has in there. Yep. I mean, just a touch, uh, feel cool. That's all idea. And you went about 13 big spreads like this too. Uh, everyone's on one side sometimes the spread goes the other way. And that's where it feels like stinky, but because everyone's on Dallas and then the spread has gone up, it feels like sports books. No, this is a Dallas blowout. I'm going to stay with the Cowboys as well. I'll go with the Cowboys. It's just because it's fun. Everybody but town's on their town. We'll certainly cheer for you if you get it. Thank you. This would be a fun ride to all put it on Chuck's shoulders. I like, I kind of like what we're doing. Yeah. I put it on. I'm big enough. I got broad enough shoulders to carry it. I like that. Bring it on. Oh, yeah. Bring it. This would be a good moment here. Yeah. Yeah. Let's go. Charlie. Yes, sir. I like Connie. Charlie too. That is certainly some. That was my nickname growing up really Charlie. Charlie regardless. Oh, shit. Well, tonight I'm riding with Charlie regardless. Chuck, what's up? Are you going for today? Okay, going for this hope. AJ has some words of wisdom for you before you spin that thing for 20 people to win $500. Chuck, I think you're, you, we know how much of an athlete you are. We know you got that rockhead that you like to throw into guys all the time. You did that back in the day over and over. I think you need to move around a little bit. Maybe you simulate a snap. Maybe give us a little bit of a cadence and take like a three to five step drop and then let that thing go. Talk to them. Do you agree with AJ? Maybe we do need some scrambler. Maybe we need Chuck Pagano on the move. No, I think that was the worst advice I've ever heard. I think you need to actually have Pat throw you the ball. Catch it. Don't think about it and just throw it anytime you think about it. You fucking suck. I like that. You agree with that? I do. I do. And also you a lot of times you creep up to the front of the stage here. Like you got some fucking noodle arm. You don't. Okay. You have an absolute howitzer attached to that shoulder. Trust it. Fucking fire that pig's going to make it. And that hip. Do you want to give it a go? You want me to throw it to you and then you don't have to think. Bye, bye. No, that's good. 20 people to win $500. Probably a good moment for the cowboys minus nine and a half as well. Chuck Pagano. Oh, I like it. I went right after. Yeah, just threw it. Just threw that fucker. Don't aim it. It seems to get better worse in the second and third. Yeah, much, much, much, much, much worse. I'm going to get >> Yeah, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, is repost this post say something nice to somebody and put the easiest way to pay him. Chuck the gun for the people. There's one more white one down there. If it matters, that was going to say, try it. Charlie will make it. Whoa, 20 people. Okay. Yeah, that's a little baby ball. He's got no chance. Charlie, regardless here, trying to win 20 people, $500 with a lot of chirping in his ear. Was regardless. Charlie, Charlie won't make it regardless. Is what Connor said. Three sisters before me. Constance. I haven't had any diamond. Mom, rest in peace. Rest in peace, mom, bad ass. Three daughters, bad ass, unbelievable. 92. 92. Hell of a run, rest in peace, mom. Best ever. Um, yeah, Connie Kathy Kerry. Three girls. And this next one, regardless of what it was, it was going to be a Charlie. Oh, Charlie. I like that. I like that. I like that. Chuckie, regardless. Okay, we just took a trip down memory lane there. We had a beautiful nostalgia moment. Now, let's go into cementus as a magical moment. 20 people can win $500. Chuckie put that football into that hoop right over there. Back, back, back, back. Charlie, godless. All right. Mom's disappointed. Before we get out of here, Charlie, regardless of what you just did right there, we still love your pal and serve as everybody else. Those are some terrible attempts. I will say. And they only got worse. So we thought after the second one, it couldn't get any worse. It did. Give them one more. No way. I think for the good of you, we need him to win this bet tonight. Oh, yep. And then we need him to make one next week. Okay. Okay. I'm gonna have to take down all my stuff. I don't get tonight. Probably get off social media. No, done. I've been thinking about doing that here pretty soon. Yeah, I've been trying to hate his real. Oh, boy, and talented. The hate is real and talented. Oh, okay. Uh, this particular NFL kickoff week five Thursday is a special one. October 8th is. Oh, shit. Oh, it's fucking bubblegum spurt. Nothing. Our favorite shit painter, our Canadian export, our internet splunker, our absolute stallion of a man. Oh, no, he's happening right now in the first time I was done with this. Oh, man, I didn't know I was gonna have to do this. It's still in the bag right now plastic. I'm not putting for last show anymore. So I guess we're going to try to do this with just a cover on the cake. Uh, Gumpy, we love you, buddy. We appreciate you. The next trip around the sun's going to be the best trip around the sun. This last one has provided so many magical moments. I appreciate the hell out of you. The boys appreciate the hell out of you. You're the best happy birthday old ass. I appreciate you all. Thank you. Somebody could put a lighter up there than he could at least look good. Good looking kid. Happy birthday to you. Oh. Paul. Happy birthday dear Gump. There you go. We can blow out that candle. Now Gumpy's much more healthy now than he's ever been. I don't know if you'll even dive into that cake with the mission that he's been on. We appreciate the hell out of you, buddy. We're lucky. Thank you guys. I love you. Lucky to be here with all you men. Like every day truthfully. Uh, I appreciate you all. Love you, Gump. Love you, Gump. Hi. Be a friend, telephone. Nice. My change of life. Chuck. Great work this week. All right, Chuck. Great. Top anything to say to the team here on your birthday? Uh, let's just dive into this week five with an absolute banger tonight. I know it's a backup, but backup's been doing well this year. And that doesn't matter. And the cowboys are a good football team. Thank you. Yes. Chuck, anything to say to the team before we get out of here? Pablo Casal's was the greatest cellist in the history of the world. He was playing, raxing, and teaching. Tell his death at 96 years old. Set up. One of his students, a young gal, came up to him one day.
and said, "Mr. Cassalos, why do you still practice five hours a day?" And you know what his reply was, Ty? John, I'll fix it. He said, "I'm just beginning to see a little improvement." Yes. All of you. Every day. Every day, that's. What's his name again? Pablo Cabinos. Oh, yeah, of course. Great on the cello. And we appreciate him not saying what Ty said. Instead, we can tune in and motivate and lead others. This is what we will try to do for the rest of this season. Thank you for everything. It is because all of you watched what I input through this. Hope you learned a little bit about Pablo Cabinos today. Hope you learned a little bit about Paul. Hope you learned a little bit about baseball. Hope you learned a little bit about life. We'll continue to try to provide that for as long as you will let us. Team on me. Team on three. One, two, three. Team. Good bye.
Podcast Summary
Key Points:
The Cowboys vs. Buccaneers game is heavily favored with the Cowboys at 8.5-point odds, fueled by public perception of the Bucks' struggles and a lack of recent cover wins.
Jalen Daniels, the rookie QB for the Buccaneers, is seen as a major threat due to his athleticism, ability to run and make plays, and strong performance against the Packers.
DraftKings is boosting CD Lamb and Jalen Daniels for over 60 receiving yards and 40+ rushing yards, respectively, believing both players will exceed expectations.
The Cowboys’ defense is expected to struggle against Daniels’ run game, particularly if Dallas fails to contain him in the pocket or apply consistent pressure.
