Hello and welcome to our humble abode, the DraftKings Thunderdome. On this GOAT Wednesday, September 30th, 2026, this program begins now. Football is the greatest. We got obviously another week NFL football kicking off tomorrow night in the AFC North in Cleveland as Todd Munkin and Deshaun Watson are hosting the Pittsburgh Steelers, Aaron Rodgers and Mike McCarthy. Obviously, all eyes are on that and storylines are in abundance in this magical sports world that we are so lucky to live in. Now, Aaron Rodgers, T.J. Watt and that entire Pittsburgh Steelers team looks vastly different than they have in recent history. We'll chit-chat with a man who's from Pittsburgh in a matter of moments about all of that. And Deshaun Watson is able to win a football game as a starting quarterback in the year 2026. A lot of people surprised by all of that. Cannot wait to see what Prime has in store. Allegedly reporting this morning. By a rat, Kirk Herbstreit's getting an extension with Amazon. Hey, Herbie. Congrats to Herbie signing a new deal with Amazon. We appreciate him continuing to not only kick off the football weekend, but obviously being a part of game day and Saturday night's college football main event on ABC. What a legend with how much he has contributed to sport as a whole. I'm happy to see him have success as opposed to a lot of bums that have microphones in this particular industry. Now, I usually mind my own. But. If you thought I was being serious whenever I pointed out that Jason Kelsey was saying we about the Philadelphia Eagles, knowing who Jason Kelsey is with the Philadelphia Eagles at the Monday Night Football halftime, you have no brain. And I think you should just realize that. And I don't love just the lying and the stuff that happens on my name at these days. But just like saying stuff to continue to add, you know, gas to a flame that isn't real. When you're in this place and carry as much weight as you definitely do. I think it's just a little bit of piling on. And I hope you all rot. All of you. Talks and Tables here at Boston Connor and at Ty Schmidt. Nine-year NFL vet Darius J. Butler is here. A man who was in the NFL for 12 years. Super Bowl champion. A man who is not only a player, but also a coach. Now he coaches folks and commentates on Arizona Cardinals games. He's been a part of every single organization that you basically know of. This man's been cut, released, and re-signed. Seventy-five times in his NFL career. Ladies and gentlemen, A.Q. Shipley. A.Q., how you doing, brother? I'm doing great. What a week of football, huh? Yeah, football has certainly been delivering for us. College has been great. The NFL has been fantastic. And for you, I think you're excited to see the football that's being played back in Pittsburgh. Tomorrow night, Cleveland hosts the Pittsburgh Steelers. I think this is a nice classic clash of AFC North rivals. And they're both playing good football all of a sudden. And seemingly have juice in the building again about being good. There's a takeaway, you think? From this past weekend that needs to be talked about. Or this season that hasn't been hit enough leading into tomorrow night. Go ahead, A.Q. Yeah, it's certainly been talked about a lot. Bully Bull is back in the bird. Let's take a look at the Pittsburgh Steelers. Listen, their offensive line played their best football that I've seen since the Pouncey and DeCastro days. I mean, it was incredible to watch. I turned on the film and it started with the first play, which we will get to on this second clip. But on the first play, let's talk about a play that gained massive attention this week, right? Let's look at the double team on the left. We're going to see a double team between Mason McCormick and Frazier, Zach Frazier, the center out of? West Virginia University, Morgantown, West Virginia legend, actually. That's right. That's right. So we get two double teams. This is a classic duo play. But right there, high leg gallop. You see him galloping. He gets underneath Dexter Lawrence. He's using his left hand. You do not see it. The ref used to be placed at the linebacker. But he lifts that left leg up and uses his shoulder and takes Big Dex back 10 yards. I mean, incredible. Is that cheating, though? Because I saw a tweet. Do we have? Do we have the tweet? Illegal? I'm sure you've seen the first clip. But Mason McCormick was doing this whole game. New technique or illegal? Asked Joe Goodberry. And I heard a lot of Bengals fans saying, this doesn't seem like what is allowed to happen in a football game. Is this legal, AQ? And is this what Dexter Lawrence is going to have to face? A single leg takedown as somebody else is lifting up his upper body? It feels like you offensive linemen are finding new ways to cheat every single day. I mean, it is certainly not legal. It is definitely an illegal move. My argument all the time is the guys on the other side of the line on the defense, they do a lot of illegal things, too. They grab shirts to prevent Jordan Mailotta from getting out to the defensive end, which caused a sack in week one, right? There's so many of these things, these little nuances on every single play that do not get called. This was genius by him. It's also genius, and I don't know if he knew this going into it, but knowing where the referee is, the referee used to be at linebacker depth on the defensive side, and they have since moved two guys to behind the offense. So, pretty brilliant. Brilliant move on his part. Okay, so the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line, though, not just the picking up the legs of Dexter Lawrence, you're thinking that they're playing old-school Pittsburgh Steelers football again. I mean, we were so used to watching the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lines dominate for decades and decades and decades. That play is awesome. Let's go to the next clip and the very first play of this game. Really cool formation. Do you see those little circles right there? That's normally where you would put the tight ends if you were trying to get chips, but they have them in this little diamond formation in the backfield. First play. Scripted. First 15. Let's put Darnell Washington in a tight end. He's going to come downhill. There he is highlighted. Let's get a chip on their best player. Let's make them know. Set the tone on Dexter Lawrence. We get the ball out right there. Now, let's look at Friar Muth down. That's first play of the game. First play of the game. We're setting the tone. We're letting them know, and then Friar Muth gets the pancake. Obviously, Jalen Warren does what he does. Unbelievable. But listen, first 15, first play. Your first play should be the best. You script that. You know that. This is the game plan. We're going to let them know. First play. We're getting a chip on you. Okay, so instead, they move in. Friar Muth in Mount Washington. And they let Dexter Lawrence know, hey, you might not be on the outside, but we're going to chip the hell out of you all damn day. Six foot. What is he? Seven. Three-fifty. Three-fifteen. Left shoulder. Boom. Through the sternum. Love everything about it. There was a lot of, you know, Mike McCarthy seemingly back in bag, but it all revolves around being physical, it feels like, is what you're saying. It's downhill. I mean, that's what Mike McCarthy does. That's what Mike McCarthy was so good at. It was always inside zone. It was one back power. It was duo scheme when he was in Green Bay. Then Arthur Smith comes to Pittsburgh, right, and he gets them into this wide zone kind of finesse game. Now they are back. They are back to doing what they did for decades, back to being physical. When you turn on the tape, there's not a single person that can turn on this tape and tell me that the Pittsburgh Steelers did not out-physical a defense that has been playing fantastic, have been wreaking havoc in the Cincinnati Bengals. How do you feel tomorrow night's game is going to go? Just an early prediction on the Cleveland Browns taking on this bullying of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Well, I think it's really hard for anybody to take Deshaun Watson over Aaron Rodgers. I think we start there. But, again, this is going to be a classic offensive line versus defensive line matchup. I think the Cleveland Browns have a very good defensive line, and Mason Graham and Malik Collins on the inside. They got Jared Verst. They've been doing some weird stuff with Jared Verst on third down, having him stand up and do this kind of amoeba defense. Not really working. I wish they would just let him get back to rushing the tackle. Okay, so other storylines coming out of this weekend, not just the bully ball there for the Pittsburgh Steelers. We should chat about the Ravens-Cowboys coming down to the end. You were a coach, obviously, in this league. You're a coach now on the side. I know you know situational football inside and out because you're a center. Tell me about the Cowboys just down the stretch there, or is that more so Ravens execution too? Because all those bad things have to happen. Timeout at 14 seconds. Yeah, that was tough. Quick throw out of bounds. Tie it up. Kick the ball out of the back of the end zone. Ball comes out to the 35. Lamar Jackson now has seven seconds to execute a play that I didn't know was even possible to execute in seven seconds. Who's it on there? Who's it on? I think it's on. I think it's a little bit of both. I think you start with the Cowboys coaching staff. I think that timeout and then obviously kicking the ball out of the end zone, you just kick that thing in and make them waste a little bit of time. That game is over. You cannot get a play going in four seconds or three seconds or whatever that would have come down to. But, again, the 14-second timeout was a massive mistake. I mean, it's a very critical mistake and a very critical point in the game. But, again, the execution of the get-down play, if you will, for the Baltimore Ravens being able to complete that pass, get down, get the timeout, and then get the kickoff. What a kick, too. I mean, unbelievable. Unbelievable kick. Yeah, 56-yard field goal by Tyler Loop there in Rio. Obviously, he hits the Sioux in real life. Having that type of forethought before making a 56-yard field goal, I like that. That tells me the confidence is where it needs to be. He comes off an ending of a season last year where it did not go well at all, actual nightmare scenario for him, missing against the Pittsburgh Steelers, obviously losing the AFC North title that evening, not making the playoffs, and then a whole rebuild at the coaching staff, all potentially because he missed. Yeah. Now, there was, as we head to Hammer, Dodd, Dodd. What was the name of that father who did the holy water on the field gimmick that potentially made Tyler Loop miss that field goal? Father Fitz McGonigal, Patrick, or something along those lines. No, his name's Maximilian. I mean, I had the answer. I was just, you know, trying to get you into the conversation there. Father Maximilian was down there throwing the holy water, potentially changes the trajectory of the Baltimore Ravens forever. Tyler Loop makes that kick. And, Tone, I know you don't know this yet, but we have big news for Tyler Loop, don't we? Yes, we do. I believe he is potentially the AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Tone! Good guess. Congratulations to Baltimore Ravens' Tyler Loop on being the… Yeah, they messed something up there. Oh, no. The graphic. Oh, they flipped it. Special teams, who cares? Put them on either side, AFC or AFC. You know, we could… Oh, no. Send that out. Let's take that down. Congrats to these guys. Hey, congrats. Brock Bowers, Hufanga, Miles, Bryce, Bijan, Sonny Styles. Round out the six players of the week. The Ravens are on the AFC and the Vikings are on the NFC. So congrats to Brock Bowers, Hufanga, and Tyler Loop being the AFC players of the week. And Bijan Robinson, who went absolutely crazy. Absolutely crazy. Probably going to see more of that. Sonny Styles, I think he had 13. I believe so. Yeah, whatever the case was, all over the place. Congrats to him starting his career in a fantastic fashion. Getting a player of the week here in week three. And then Miles Price, wide receiver of the Vikings. He gets a special teams player of the week for the NFC. Love giving those. Also love that we got some real sports. We got some real playoff atmosphere. Last night in the NHL, Carolina Hurricanes had their banner night. Five o'clock in front of 40,000 Caniacs, brother, or 30,000 Caniacs down there celebrating. The intro for the Stanley Cup down there. They had the Florida Panthers, two-time champions before this. A lot of championship pedigree on that. They had them sit in the bench. Is that normal? Nicky Skates, is that normal that they had them sit out there for that entire presentation? Yeah, sitting out there, the visiting team sitting out there is normal. What wasn't normal to me, and this has become like a new thing, is to bring the cup out and celebrate with it like you've won it again, almost. Like normally they'll wheel the cup out. Just let you know it's there. Put it on display. The guys were skating around with it last night. Jordan Stahl, Stahlsie was kissing it. The captain of the Hurricanes. He was passing around everybody. They were patting it around. It was a big celebration. It was kind of cool, but at the same time, like to your point, the Panthers just had to sit there and take that. Just stare at it. Yeah, it was a weird, it was very weird. I mean, the celebration was awesome. They obviously earned it. Congrats to the Caniacs having a chance to revisit what it was like to win it like it was just yesterday and do an entire presentation. Them having the Florida Panthers sit there, they introduced every person on the team, every coach on the team. They had a spotlight on everything. And then at the very end, and now, and Stahlsie comes out with that thing up over his head, skates around. They start dancing on there. It was like a 15-minute, I mean, it was so long. They're just sitting there watching that entire thing. I'm like, you got both the Kachuks sitting over there just watching this entire thing unfold. Forget about, yeah, certainly an asshole move, I guess, if you were to view it that way. But in my head, there was no, there was no way the Panthers were going to lose. There was zero chance the Panthers were going to lose that game. I just thought having that particular group, I mean, you got Marshy over, you got the Chucks over there. You got a bunch of dogs in that bench over there having to watch this entire, you know, celebration in their face. I just, that felt like an obvious win for the Panthers. They do get the overtime, so a point was earned by the Hurricanes. Panthers inevitably get a win with less than like five seconds left in the entirety of it. They could have had a tie ball game, potentially, to start this entire thing. NHL had a hell of a night. They have another one tonight as the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Flyers kick off TNT's run of their NHL season. We'll have Wayne Gretzky joining us in an hour and 17 minutes or so to chit-chat about everything that's taking place tonight and what we should look for in this league in the NHL this year. Tickets up for the NHL. 106%, 102%, 103%. Opening night was huge for the NHL. I assume tonight will be the exact same. This sport is awesome. Hockey? Hockey is awesome. And if you want to pick up a team that you like, either want to love or hate, Florida Panthers are a great one. I mean, they're going to be a very physical ball club. They're going to get into fights. They're going to be in it down the stretch. You're going to have a chance to win a cup. And there's going to be a lot of people that hate them. There's going to be a lot of people that hate them. So if you would like to hate them, I think you could do that. If you want to love them, I think you'll have a great season. The NHL is about to cook. MLB, though, last night, wild card round. That thing was electrifying until, what, 3 a.m.? It felt like those games went on forever, Tashman. Yeah, for sure. And it started when we were in the office yesterday. We were watching Philly's Braves, and 3-2 in the bottom of the eighth inning. Braves, who I think a lot of people assume are going to make a deep run in the playoffs, wondering, hey, what's going on here? And we got kind of our first taste of true playoff baseball as Austin Riley hit a three-run homer to put the Braves up 5-3 and kind of cap that game. So we got to see that. And then the White Sox and the Astros is one game who I think a lot of people just assume whoever wins this one is probably going to lose next round, but still a very entertaining game. The White Sox win that one 6-3. And then, you know, the two nightcap games, you know, they were kind of blowouts. The Yankees end up beating the Red Sox 9-0 on the back of two kids from Massachusetts, Ben Rice, who hit two homers, including a grand slam, and Cam Schlittler, who just absolutely shoved down the Red Sox throat like he has done his entire career. And then in the late game, we talked about it a little bit yesterday. If you don't really have a team or you don't have a dog in the fight, this San Diego Padres team is going to be very, very fun to watch. Slam Diego, Fernando Tatis Jr. in the first inning hits a massive bomb. PCA almost robs it. And then a few batters later, Manny Machado hit a homer. The Padres end up winning big over the Cubs. So kind of everything we talked about yesterday, great night to start. And kudos to the MLB because I feel like in years past, sometimes these would start on like a Friday. Or a Saturday. And you'd be trying to watch these games in between college football and the NFL. But putting it midweek like this, where all you're competing with is the start of the NHL season, it's been awesome. And we got four more games again tonight. Yeah, in baseball, whenever it matters, it matters. Yes, big time. And when it doesn't, it don't. You can make that argument. You can. You really can. Because it does seem like when the lights are the brightest and the playoffs start, all the big stars show up. And it's kind of like, why are these guys playing 100? And 62 games. But again, when the playoffs start, it is fireworks every single game. And now, what was the stat we learned yesterday about these wildcard series? Yeah, I believe it was 21 of 24 teams. If they win game one of these best of three wildcard series, they go on to win the series. Oh, God, man. That's going to happen. But don't let us win tonight. Don't let us win tonight. You guys had a rough outing, they said. Yeah, it wasn't great. A lot of stuff that you watch as a, baseball casual, that doesn't make sense. We pull Peyton Tolley in the fourth inning, I think. And then the next at bat, after Tolley, boom. Give up a home run. I don't know why you don't run these guys into the freaking ground. If you only have a three-game series, you're not going to see Peyton Tolley again if we lose the entire thing tonight. And again, if we were going to win the series, you wouldn't see him until game two or three. So he would probably have about a week off or so. So it didn't make much sense to me. But again, that's just me watching. From afar, wondering why the hell I'm doing this when I got NHL on right after. Well, and that might be, you know, a manager who's in a little over his skis because on the flip side, Cam Schlittler threw 117 pitches last night. He is the AL Cy Young. He's going to be the Yankees ace. He threw the most pitches in a playoff game since, I believe, 2012 when CeCe Sabathia did it for the Yankees. So that was like a true throwback. Like, hey, we're basically going to send this kid out there until his arm throws off. And I don't think you're going to be seeing too many guys throw 117 pitches in a playoff. Yeah, well, we'll see how he responds. You know, we'll see how he responds. If next game, it's not good. I mean, he's going to get absolutely crushed. Well, maybe. But he's got a full slate of rest now. And he's a young kid. He's only 25 years old. He's from the Boston area. Wait, I heard a lot about the World Baseball Classic wearing these guys down. He got 117 pitches in the playoffs. He didn't play in the World Baseball Classic. So that could be, you know, that could be part of it. I want to see a full game. I want, you know, I don't know how many of those have ever happened. I just, in my head, I think old school pitchers, these guys go full games. These guys, you've got to pry the ball out of their hands. They're not handing it over until there's somebody that they think is better with the ball than they are. CeCe Sabathia told us what. I was going to be handing that off to Rivera. Yeah, or nobody. Yeah, he said, like, if somebody was coming out to get me, I'll hand it off to Mariano. Yeah, but other than that, this one's sticking with me, brother. That's how we're doing it. Can't even be like that anymore, I guess, huh? Because all the stats and analytics. Yeah, guys throw too hard and guys strike out. Four innings. That was a joke. And that's just like, you know, as a Yankees fan, sure. But if I was a Red Sox fan, I'd be livid. They're talking all season. I am. Again, it was his first ever playoff start. So maybe that has something to do with it. But, like, you could – he was getting hit a little bit, but he had only given up one run to that point. They let him throw four and a third, and it is kind of just like, hey, this guy's supposed to be the ace. Let him go earn it. And then they get bit in the ass as soon as they pull him out of the game. Chris Sale, absolute beast. Great to see him. Friend of the broker. We're very lucky we got a chance to catch up with him. Okay, let's pivot back to the NFL. Let's talk about an ace, a real ace. Ladies and gentlemen, he's in the number one booth for CBS. He was in Brazil, down there in Rio. Standing in Brazilian guy's piss. That's right. Ladies and gentlemen, J.J. Watt. Yay, J.J.! Let me find it. Let me stand right here. That was awesome to see. You got after it, though, in that gym, I assume. You're drenched. I don't know how hot it was. It seems like you really got after it. You telling the story of trying to find some shade in a corner and inevitably standing in these dudes' piss, it brightened my day. I want to let you know, I got a good pop out of it. I assume many others. How long were you in there, P, before you realized it? And any other stories or mishaps from Rio that we need to know about? I was in it for about three or four seconds. That's a lie. Sounds like you were in there a minute or two at least. Listen, listen. I was in there for three or four seconds, but then as you're realizing it, you're also realizing, like, okay, as fast as I move out of here, is it really? that big of a deal, five more seconds. So I just meandered out of the corner it wasn't like a spider bit my foot and i jumped out of the corner it was like uh shit yeah and did they all point and laugh big big dumb american how'd they handle not a single nobody nobody gave me like a heads up nobody no but i will say this about that gym first of all incredible gym literally overlooking the ocean gorgeous um awesome atmosphere because there's something about gym goers where like it was hey you know you need a spot or you hop in and you help spot somebody else and everybody was just it was this cool little flow and respect for everybody there it was a it was a special environment there yeah i could imagine a special environment in rio as you're working you were stronger than everybody were you big dumb american how'd you do you feel like you performed for us or or how do you think you're representing we uh we maxed her out we maxed her out there uh as you can see there uh those numbers are in kilos and they don't go very high and so i was doing math while i was lifting but at some point i said you know what i'm not gonna do any math i'm just gonna go grab the biggest one and uh realize the biggest one wasn't big enough so we just hit reps we just hit a lot of reps we had a lot of reps thank you for representing let's go jade hey we needed that that's a big deal as you know oh yeah and i like the thought of you trying to do math with kilos i watched narcos i think that's a lot of cocaine uh let me see how many kilos uh i think that would be about three lanes worth there i'm not 100 sure how heavy did it feel what was the max amount there and were you by i think that i think that 85 you're looking at there so 2.2 times 85 you know somewhere just under 200 pounds and were you grunting or was it just like that might be wrong i this could be the disaster on air just absolute there's a lot of them don't worry about that there's a lot of those were you um were you grunting what what do you think was your no absolutely not no absolutely not no i i hit some squats with that one uh did some single leg rdls uh you know some bulgarian split squats there's a it's it's like the flintstones dude in the very back corner there you can see they created pulley systems that are just attached to huge rocks and so you're just doing like literal fred flintstone push downs it's it was pretty cool man yeah i like that you got out and uh meandered around did you head anywhere else around rio that we need to know about and would you recommend to others taking the flight it was great it was great i have to say it was awesome you know i mean people kept telling me like hey watch your chain like don't walk around i'm like is somebody if somebody wants to try and take this chain off my neck like well all right let's do it they just saw me at the gym they died i did the super kilos dude i didn't have a single issue with any of that went up to christ the redeemer unbelievable view unbelievable like there's just an aura about it it's it's special um and i i think people might have seen the story that while i was having my personal moment with christ the redeemer and just kind of paying my respects never in a trillion years thought it would be stephen a smith to interrupt the moment i thought you know maybe you that would be that wouldn't have been as crazy but it was it was wild so espn's finest just tapping me in the belly as i'm talking to old christ what are you doing i like that did you tell him what you were doing and he said my bad i will wait over here or what was the interaction like well that's why i had sunglasses on so he couldn't see that my eyes were closed um but i was standing i can't see if i can get this on the camera standing like this and i was just looking up like this oh and then it was just it was right in the right in the gut and what the hell so i looked down and i'm like i'm saying he played it cool he played what's up i had to look down okay i was looking down from the big dog i do i got to be around steven a in la i mean incredible energy whenever like he's ready it was that special the thought though that you're asking jesus maybe just send me a sign man that i'm doing it all right and that the family's okay william jesus is really uh operating in crazy why was he there why was he in brazil it was a cbs game excuse me we got espn brazil down there it does a lot of great work okay and it's uh he took a trip down and got an interview i believe with commissioner goodell he got to learn about their uh entire culture i saw he got to meet some folks dancing folks he was representing for uh espn down there hey that we love sports you know which we which we certainly do i appreciated him just hanging out there at that stadium though because he does his show uh first take and he's got steven a smith show just hanging out that stadium and it looks like he was just living yep and then coming right back i mean he's doing it right i would say that's so funny you think you're talking to jesus right there though and then who's the hand of god he was wearing he was wearing a jersey too i think he was wearing a flamingo jersey he had a hat on he also had one earphone in with the wires um just a scene it was just it was a scene it was had you ever met him before is that first time meeting him right there in front of jesus no yeah i know him a little bit uh so it wasn't like wild but it would send this just did you finish your prayer did you finish your prayer or no uh it kind of turned into a little bit of a picture fest after that like i was in and out i was in and out hey how you doing yeah me and jesus here it is here's jj and uh mr a smith having a moment there you know uh where is this from i haven't seen this that's steven a smith rio y'all are keeping me busy christ the redeemer to escudaria celeron music okay so you went and saw christ redeemer you did the uh piss corner at the gym you brazilian steakhouse phenomenal sword phenomenal yeah lots of swords lots of them green red forever green just until i stand up just forever green just keep it going so they're doing the same way we do it we didn't exaggerate that or mocker mock it and ruin it like everybody says pretty surprised by that i thought for sure there was going to be some difference i will say there's they're like sides and salad bar thing which is is just trying to get you to eat less meat uh incredible like i mean gigantic incredible uh and their meat was it was fantastic i mean the picanha stunning they just had like 50 different kinds like i feel like up here we have like four or five you know that they bring around it was it was like i think like 18 to 20 types they had and it was spectacular jay it's good for you they never seen a walk coming there too remember he had like 50 pancakes for breakfast every day of his life and then he had two dinners and then an extra one you know dad firefighter good chef mom says we got big boys here they start feeding this kid since he's a child he was almost made to go to a brazilian steakhouse and say hey for america green i need all of these swords i want every sword in my mouth i want all your meat in my mouth that's what you were saying all right all right i don't know how to say in portuguese i'm assuming you learned how to say put that meat in my mouth in portuguese and that's why we're happy you were the one representing our country down there you're the man for that now let's talk about being on the call for uh a magical moment that happened down there tyler loop hits from 56 yards okay to win that thing in a soccer stadium hits the ronaldo sue lamar jackson sprinting down with him the entire squad is going down there whenever there is so much uh malpractice happening in the state of brazil i think it's really important for the state of brazil to be able to be able to deal with this kind of thing and i think that's what we're going to have to do and i think that's what we're going to have to do and i think that's what we're going to have to do and i think that's what we're going to have to do and i think that's what we're going to have to do obviously you see the cowboys go down in the way that they handled the the final little stretch there and the throw and the clock and everything that came along with it but then lamar being lamar and zay being zay and executing that play and also knowing how jesse mentor the seven seconds i mean it's literally never been done before in history seven seconds doing that being able to bang the time out kick the field goal it's the first time in history it's ever been done so to be able to sit there and witness that and see how they executed it and lamar being head coach and then being able to sit there and witness that and see how they executed it and lamar being head coach and then being able to sit there and witness that and see how they executed it and lamar being head coach and then being able to sit there and witness that and then being able to sit there and witness that and see how they executed it enough and obviously having practiced it so many times to bang the time out while he's sprinting down the field uh it was a wild moment dude and that that entire second half the stadium was electric like it was they were all excited for the game and everything was was fun in the lead up and the build up in the first half but that second half of the game was unbelievable and there were fourth down and one stops for each side and then you get down to the goal line and then you get down to the goal line and it was just back to fourth boom boom boom and then the final play sums the whole game up it was chaos it was crazy wild game awesome game to call yeah great for rio and you know we assume that the rio entire community and region is now ravens fans did it feel like that as you're watching the game because we saw a lot of different jerseys in the crowd whenever uh the colts whenever i played in london it felt like there was uh nba jerseys there was mlb jerseys there was just like american sports celebration kind of happening now it's vastly different now over there but down there in rio what did you see from the fans that were at the game and by the end did it feel like it was a ravens crowd you know it's interesting because i think a lot of people expect cowboys fans to take over wherever they go just because of the history and cowboys fans what they are but there were a ton of baltimore ravens fans down there and you look at the crowd there were tons of Ravens jerseys they absolutely love Lamar in Brazil he is he was very clearly a favorite down there obviously Dak and the Cowboys too but Lamar was a big-time fan favorite when he ran out onto the field for warm-ups place went nuts I mean obviously they do the exact same thing for the Cowboys but it was I would say it was at best split 50-50 it was a really really good showing and the Ravens fans should be proud I mean it kind of goes to Lamar's quote from the week leading up to it where he said Dallas is America's team and that's not America so they they if you were a fan in Brazil and that was your first game you're absolutely hooked for life I mean I don't know how you couldn't be just watching that made me think about how we have had these discussions in the past about we need the Baltimore Ravens and Lamar Jackson to get to the Super Bowl because there's a lot of people around the world that that's the only football game they watch every single year could you imagine somebody Lamar Jackson popping on the screen and just being like I didn't know so he's the fastest guy he can throw better than everybody he's seemingly one of the best leaders that we have and what what else uh yeah he's about to win the Super Bowl wow I didn't know that was possible he would change the world's view I think on football if he was to play there was a stat that was uh I saw the other day as we were getting ready for Bears Eagles which we're going to ask you about here in a second it's like Jalen Hurts I think averages over 40 yards a rush and I think that's the third highest in the history of the NFL behind Michael Vick Lamar Jackson and Jalen Hurts is in there as well and he's at 30 something this year it's a little bit lower than his normal but like what Lamar Jackson did to football to us to Americans whenever Michael Vick as well but what Lamar Jackson had been able to do and continue to do if he was just dropped onto the global sphere like he was in Rio for the Super Bowl and people got to watch him do it especially with what it seems to be this Declan Doyle offense which I think we like and it's Jesse Minter defense I think we like this team right no I think the Ravens they're very impressive they're very impressive I think they're figuring things out in their early days obviously in week two they had the third and one and some of those things where they lost to the Saints but I think that the more they grow and the better they get yes I think it's a very impressive staff and obviously a very talented roster and we're not even talking about the defense Kyle Hamilton and some of the pieces they have over there um certainly I would imagine that team continues to grow and they seem to be having a whole lot of fun and on the flip side Cowboys almost beat them yeah so the Cowboys also very good it's early in the season let's not say everybody's dead forever even though they have so many injuries in the back end for the Cowboys man like it was crazy we knew going into the game that they had these two safeties down they had Kobe Durant down and then during the game I mean DB you saw like it was boom boom boom and all of a sudden you're like are you going to have a human body to put out there at DB it was insane and same with the Ravens at center Ravens are down three centers like that's that's unbelievable yeah they put Venga Iwani the first round pick guard in at center at the end of the game okay so last question about that that sounds crazy that there were this early in the season there's already that many injuries Carolina Panthers just lost both their corners yep yep I think they just lost both their corners I mean that's tough Packers O-line San Fran D-line San Fran Patriots have 18 guys on IR as well okay now yeah long season hey let's add another game too yeah need to need to add another game in there we need to remember these conversations that are happening after just week three whenever we think about how long the season can be last question for us we have a bunch Case Keenum and I mentioned it early about going back to Monday night with the Bears and the Eagles first of all Soldier Field was unbelievable that place was the weather was perfect the night seemingly went perfect for Case Keenum and Ben Johnson other than like a goal line you know uh mishap where if Rome catches that he has four touchdowns on the night if Rome catches that entire thing so can you tell me why you think Case Keenum good why you think Ben Johnson is seemingly inevitable and are you worried about the Eagles are you pumped about the Bears how do you think it's a good question Pat it's a good question uh first of all Case Keenum former teammate of mine uh Houston guys so certainly have a lot of connections there and was extremely happy to see him step in and play so well and the moment you know with his daughter and everything after the game like really special stuff now you asked why like how was he able to step in and do that Case Keenum is the perfect backup quarterback you could ever ask for it is literally the same as having a quarterback coach in your room full-time and I think any room would benefit from having Case Keenum in it and after his career whenever he decides to hang it up I think this is only going to extend it but whenever he does he is going to be an incredible coach if he chooses to do so now you add a mind like that with arm that's still able to do it and you add Ben Johnson's offense which can scheme everything up and all like you have to drop back register and deliver it that is the perfect storm for somebody like Case Keenum to be able to step in and do it so well and you watched it happen the other night it's it's thoroughly thoroughly impressive and I'm very happy I'm curious to see have they said yet what they're doing this week uh I would assume Case Keenum is going to play I just I know that that can potentially be a mystery all the way up until kickoff which they were kind of doing this past week like we're not confirming that Case Keenum's a starter Tyson Bajan still might play and I think for us it wasn't until like Case Keenum jogged on the field that it was like all right it's definitely Case Keenum so I think we'll see this entire time I think they have a lot of faith in Tyson Bajan because they paid him I think eight or nine million dollars to be the backup quarterback I got a chance to chat with him he's obviously a stud but whenever you go crazy like that I don't know how you don't let him keep playing it was cool to see how happy Caleb was for him too like that just speaks to like who he is and in the locker room and everything like that's and it also speaks to Caleb and how special he is to be that happy for a guy to come in is it was cool uh zero takeaway his first three weeks for the Philadelphia Eagles defense Vic Fangio they're saying it's maybe Vic over which they've been saying about him for a long time obviously what are your what is your takeaway on the Philadelphia Eagles defense and Philadelphia Eagles as a whole who have wins over the commanders commanders might be a good football team they have no idea Marcus Mariota was able to get a win they have a win over the Titans which they might be a very terrible football team true but they are still an NFL football team so getting a win over them at their home still notable didn't look good against the Bears obviously with a third string quarterback how do you feel about the Eagles saying a lot because I think it matters Jalen Hurts has had 10 different play callers in 11 years of football that feels like a lot it's insane that's insane and like that is even if you try hard to keep the same terminology and even if you try hard to keep the same concepts and adjust them in your own different way just a different voice a different message a different style I I don't think people understand truly how difficult that really is and no matter how great of a player you are how good you are that is year after year it'll wear you down like all you want is one off season to be like can I just do the same thing again like can I please just work on one thing and try and get just better at being a quarterback instead of having to also learn a new encyclopedia well also think about maybe that person learning Jalen Hurts better you know like hey Jalen really likes doing this I remember last year which I don't think they've been able to say one time I remember last year when we had this situation and Jalen liked it when we did this as opposed to doing this let alone Jalen learning what this person likes in certain situations this person learning Jalen as well who I think a lot of people have a lot of opinions on it's like that could be a good deal is that their big problem or what do you think about the Philadelphia Eagles and the NFC East as a whole now I guess oh he doesn't want to give a take on the Eagles you you don't know yet because they win no I don't know I'm not I mean I'm gonna be honest with you I got home from Brazil on Monday morning and I was catching up like I was I'm not gonna lie to you and act like I was deep in analysis on the game I'm going off a top line information here brother I didn't break it down I saw that I saw you zoomed out okay let's move to some stuff I was trying hard I was trying hard I know Earth's played because I was very happy for him I saw Case Keenum play very well I saw Caleb be happy for him that's that's about the extent of what I had after a 10-hour flight you checked it all I apologize I let you just kind of live in your own life right there and uh moved along but the Eagles are I can make something up if you want I like the uniforms they're wearing fantastic okay you are a uniform guy I I think the Soldier Field looked and sounded electrifying yes that's my first time in there for I saw Jalen get mad uh after the pick he got taken out for to get evaluated and he got really mad about a pick yeah well I mean the guy's standing out of bounds when he hits him okay so obviously huge shot he gets up now he is down for a little bit on his face there so I guess the Unk has to wonder much like in the Jackson Dart preseason game situation he stayed down for a little bit there is that because he had no expectation of that hit coming and he was like wow I did not expect that to happen to me is he taking a breath or was he knocked unconscious Unk he goes back into Huddle he's standing in Huddle ref comes and grabs him Sean hockey Lee and says hey bud yep you got to go get checked out that they started that drive on a three-yard line I I mean that was a three-yard drive that they had had at that point you get taken out especially in a game where you're already done to the Chicago Bears and he didn't he went back into the Huddle and they had to pull him out there to walk him to the blue tent so I don't think he was thrilled to get pulled out and then obviously you see Andy Dalton throw a pick to uh rookie Dylan thinaman out of Oregon and then Jalen yeah Jalen got pretty worked up pretty upset he was poking his head out there too watching the jumbotron as they were trying to figure out before the pick even happened they ran the ball ran the ball let's go ahead and let the Red Rocket kind of spin this thing immediately worst case scenario happens interception Jalen hurts very pissed off that he was even sent there still in there now in there and they have the ball after a 90 five-yard drive. I think it was a 95-yard drive from their own three that got all the way up there for nada. That's tough. They should have had a red rocket push-push, I think. Yeah. You know, they should have just went with that, but obviously Monday morning quarterback's easier, or Tuesday morning quarterback in this particular case, especially if you're coming from Brazil. Let's talk about something that you do know. You got Chiefs Raiders this weekend. D-Bud has a question for you. Yeah, I know Kirk Cousins getting all the headlines. He's playing very, very well through three, but that Raiders defense, what's your thought on that defense? Nine takeaways. N'Kobe Dean has been a monster with his forced fumbles. What are you seeing on tape so far? Yeah, I mean, I think that you kind of look at that and you think about the Chicago Bears last year and what they were able to do with all the takeaways that they had. Nine and three games so far is incredible, and you have to try and figure out the sustainability level of that. It is very clearly something that they harp on and work on extremely hard. N'Kobe Dean's been fantastic at it with the picks and everything that they have on the back end is well. It's just, can they continue to sustain that? But everything that they have going for them at the moment with Kirk Cousins in the Clint Kubiak offense and how they're managing that. I mean, Kirk's got three touchdowns each game for the last three games. It's kind of like what we were talking about with Case in the Ben Johnson offense. Clint Kubiak's offense is designed very specifically for a guy like Kirk Cousins who can come in, read the progression, hit his back foot, and deliver on time. And it has been working extremely well. Very, very excited to have a 3-0 vs. 3-0 matchup between the Chiefs and the Raiders. I believe, if I'm not mistaken, first time they've ever met undefeated, besides week one, obviously, when everybody's 0-0. Well, huge news that the AFC West is seemingly all the way back. I like that Fernando's just watching this. I like that Fernando's just experiencing this. I like that he saw Kirk Cousins fight Max Crosby in training camp. It feels like he's getting an incredible education on what it's going to be like to be an NFL quarterback, especially in Kubiak's system, where the quarterback's going to have to make a lot of decisions, make a lot of plays. They have their best roster. We thought they had their best offseason and signings, and somehow the Ravens, who we think are a very good team. This guy right here, this guy right here, Mike Washington Jr., is making a push here to get more and more reps. Like, he is playing extremely well. Bauer's obviously back and just decides to go completely off like he normally does, but no easing back into it for Bauer's. They're impressive. And then, oh yeah, they still have Max Crosby. Took a detour in the offseason, but still have him, and he's still doing it at an insane level. So, they are a good football team. This is going to be an awesome test, and we're excited to have him on Sunday and kind of introduce him to America a little bit. Now, on the flip side, you can introduce a new Chiefs team, too. Go ahead, AQ. Yeah, do you think the Chiefs' run game is here to stay? Do you think they stay with that type of offense, or as Mahomes gets more and more comfortable with his knee as the months go on, do you think it goes back to passing the ball down the field like they used to? I think it stays. I think it stays. I think when you have a running back like Kenneth Walker and you're able to use him how they are, and you look at their play-action numbers last year versus this year and what it's opened up in the play-action game and what they're able to do, as Pack gets healthier, he's only going to continue to be even more of a weapon on top of it. I don't think it replaces it, because when they are able to do every single aspect of the game at the highest level like they are right now with the run game, play-action, and pass, it's nearly impossible to stop. And that's what's so dangerous. And I think Eric Bien-Aimé is a massive piece of that. I think that him coming back and being able to instill this and obviously having a weapon like Kenneth Walker. I mean, when's the last time they had like a true legitimate strong running threat? Pacheco had a very good time there. They had Kareem Hunt way back. But this is as dominant of a run game as they've had, and you add that to Patrick Mahomes, it's dangerous. Yeah, and Tyree kills Toiton. He wants to get back to cold weather. Uh-oh. What does that mean? Huh? What does that mean, Jage? Tyree kill training in sand, looking fast? That would. I mean, can he look anything but fast? Well, that's what the Cheetah was worried about, I think. Drew Rosenhaus was on talking about one of the college NFL guys. I forget the exact which fella it was. Daquan Wright? Daquan Wright. He was on chatting about it. LSU guy. Yeah, he did. He was thinking of going to LSU, who certainly put him in a situation. The Drew Rosenhaus convo about Tyree kill was let's not worry about when you get back. Let's worry about how you get back, or something like that. He. Their entire narrative is like, let's make sure when you're back, you're Tyree kill. Let's not worry about getting back sooner than anybody is expecting you to get back. If you need to take more time. Is it cold in Kansas City already? I don't know. I just. I heard a song about Cleveland, I think. You know? Yeah. Maybe he's talking about. I did hear that. Chicago. Shout out to Cleveland, by the way. Yeah. Huh? Good. Boy. What a come up. Well, Cleveland rocks. Cleveland rocks. You remember that? Drew Carey? Yeah, sure do. Okay, what's the name of his secretary? Oh, I didn't watch the show. I know the song. Jeez. Mimi. Okay. I was a King of Queens guy, brother. I was a King of Queens guy. Ah, sure. Big, big. The whole lineup after school was dope. JJ's got a lot of Heffernan in him. Is that King of Queens? All right, now. That's a. That's as big of a compliment as you can give me, brother. Is that. That's Kevin James. Okay. I know him from Hitch. He's unbelievable. Unbelievable. He also played Sean Pate. Which was incredible. In the documentary. Arthur Spooner, one of the best characters of all time. I'm not going to keep going King of Queens if you don't know it, but I mean, I'm all in. So, King of Queens is what year of our lives? When was that? I don't think. I think I missed King of Queens. I think that was high school-ish. So, not home improvement or saved by the bell? After home improvement, I think. It's probably more Everybody Loves Raymond time. Yeah. I would say like 96 to like 2004 in that range. When did everybody. Some Seinfeld crossover, but I think more after Seinfeld. It was after Seinfeld. Seinfeld's still doing it, I think. What a run they had. Jeez Louise. Curb Your Enthusiasm, has that had another. Still bringing it. Still going, Larry? Congrats to him. He was very anti-punter kicker there for a little bit, but boy, he is hilarious. He's got a new show as well. It is hard not to laugh. TV used to be incredible. Still is, though, right? Yeah. The McConaughey-Woody Harrelson show on Apple TV is awesome, brothers. It's just different now, because you used to look forward to those and everyone would watch it on like Wednesday night or Tuesday night and then you'd all talk about it the next day and now it's just like, you know, you watch it as you come and go. Everyone's at a different spot in it. Sports are kind of the only thing that really give you that anymore. Yes, correct. Sports are the only thing that give you the immediate following day, but you're into some show that all the. Lioness? No, the Game of Thrones Dragons. I'll watch all those. Game of Thrones, House of Dragons, all of them. What's the newest one, though? There's a new one that you guys. I'm on The Gentleman. Right now, I'm on The Gentleman. I don't know if anybody's on The Gentleman. Good show. What's it on? Nobody is? All right. It's on Netflix. It's awesome. On Netflix, yeah. Based off a movie with McConaughey, actually. What's the newest Game of Thrones? A Night of the Seven Kingdoms. Yeah. You guys have been watching. I think that one has like a drop day, right? And then you guys all do the response afterwards. Yeah, that one has a really good one and it's only six episodes per season and they're also doing it every year. Like, House of the Dragon is the other one that came out over the summer, but that's like years in between seasons whereas that Game of Thrones one, Night of the Seven Kingdoms, is actually one per year, which is kind of a game changer. That doesn't happen as often. It's hard for me to be able to keep up with all these. I watch football and wrestling basically growing up, you know, but I would drop into Home Improvement. How could you not? Saved by the Bell, Rest in Peace, Principal Belding. Obviously, love what he did for Bayside. He was in silence for Principal Belding. Should have been President Belding. He would have been a good president. He used to show up at indie wrestling events and they'd offer to pay him and he said, don't get me in. I hope the Tiger, the Bayside Tiger, attends the funeral. Yeah, H.C. Slater better be there too. He presented the Tigers in a good way. Jack Morris, I hope he goes as well. He became a lawyer later in life, I do believe. What was the rival school? That blue school? The blue school where they stole their bulldog? What point, man? Man, if anybody gets this, that's a good point. Somebody at home is saying it right now. Pull it, me. Come on. I spent a lot of time. Blue school. Homecoming week, they stole the bulldog. I spent so much time in Bayside High. I don't know how I don't know this. Oh, man. Valley, Valley, Valley High School. Valley. Valley High School. Valley High School. There it is. Yeah. Valley High School. Rest in peace, Principal. Good job, back room. Yep, exactly. It certainly was. From somebody that had never watched Saved by the Bell either. Mick just came in. Valley! Valley High! As soon as he said it, it was like, yo, that is certainly it. Okay, let's move off the Chiefs Raiders game that you have this weekend. Let's move past Saved by the Bell. I don't know how we're going to do that. Never. I know. Such a good run. Key details about the Valley High School. Valley High serves as primary and wealthier arch rival to Bayside High. Frequently competing in sports, academic decathlons, and prank wars, such as the classic season one episode of Save That Tiger. Yep, bingo. There you go, JJ. One of the classics for Valley. I don't know if. I don't know if Valley is really mourning Principal Belding's passing now that I think about it. Probably not. And I don't like that. Actually, he's probably doing some hijinks because he's not in charge. They better watch that tiger. Yeah. Seriously, Valley High School is up to no good, and I know that they don't care about Principal Belding's passing, and that disgusts me. I agree. I don't know why. My hijinks just set me, man. - Hijinks, one on one. - It's a good word, it's a great word. Speaking of hijinks, what happened to the Houston Texans? Ty has a question for you. I know, J.J., I hate that we've had to do this every single week that you've been on here, but where is the panic meter in Houston right now? I think coming into the season, we all assumed their defense was going to be phenomenal, and it hasn't been terrible, but it hasn't been what we've expected. C.J. Stroud has actually played pretty decent, but they're 0-3 already. I know they're the only team that's gone 0-3 and came back and made the playoffs, but it looks like it's getting pretty late early for them. Where are we at, and do you see them turning things around this week against the Cowboys? Yeah, I mean, obviously not where you want to be by any stretch of the imagination. The familiarity with being 0-3 and making the playoffs is a benefit. It's not something you want to have to your name, but they clearly know how to do it, and they're just going to have to fight their way out of it one game at a time. And I think this weekend, with the Dallas Cowboys coming to town, and it's a big celebration of the 25 years of the organization, first-ever game was against the Cowboys, so there's certainly going to be an atmosphere you would imagine and hope on Sunday for the Texans. And it's now just about climbing out one game at a time and trying to get back to.500 and then building from there, which is what they did the last time they did this. But it's, I mean, Will Anderson Jr., four sacks, two strip sacks in this game. The guy's playing lights. It's out unbelievable. Isn't getting quite the shine and national love that he deserves at the moment because of the way the team is performing, but he's been playing unbelievably well. Yeah, we saw him this weekend. We saw him this weekend down there at the Colts game. What a win. How was the atmosphere up there? Well, people said that watching on TV was terrible because they couldn't really see anything, especially with our Anvil strike uniforms because of the shadows. But I will say, being in there, it was great to see us win a game. It was fantastic to win one. Spencer Schrader. A kid who makes that 53-yarder, 55-yarder, whatever it was. I forget there were so many big kicks this weekend because kickers are so damn good at this stage of football, which is fun to watch. He, like, tweaked his groin in warm-ups. They didn't know how he was going to go about doing it. I think he goes three for three, ends up hitting a 50-plus yarder to win that thing. I mean, he was a huge piece of it. Defense. Nuck, if you buckplayed for the first time after DeForest Buckner made a play, and I was just like, this has been sitting here the whole time, I think that's the first time that I've heard that. Literally, as soon as DeForest Buckner makes a play, I think they changed who's doing the music in the Lucas Oil Stadium. Okay. How has that not been a staple for his entire career? I genuinely don't know. And maybe they have played it in the past, but it hasn't happened every single time he's made a play. I'm talking as soon as he did something, somebody had to play button on. Nuck, if you buck. It was incredible. What a song. Yeah, it's just like, turn it down for what? For you. I mean, it was like immediate. Come on. It's a layup. Yeah. I thought that as it was happening. I'm like, genius, whoever's doing this, and how have we not been doing this forever? It felt like there was a new person on the trigger playing the songs and the stuff. Was it a better atmosphere? Yeah. For sure. Was it because we won? Probably. How'd the uniforms look in person? How'd they look? Unbelievable. So good. So good. Just the best I've ever seen. They're undefeated, too, so that's great. Yeah. I'm happy they weren't like Anvil Knights, and then it was a one o'clock game, because that was a little embarrassing when we had the Indiana Knights jerseys, and then we actually didn't have a single night game that entire season, so it was forced to be worn at one o'clock. That was kind of a tough little thing. But the Anvils. You've got to figure out the shadows. I mean, just that. It looks awful. Okay, why don't you go talk to the sun? What? How are we supposed to figure out shadows, pal? What do you mean? They had everything closed. Just keep it closed. They had window and roof open. Yeah, it looked great. I mean. It felt great in there. It did. 68 degrees. Nice. A little bit of a stiff breeze, which I'm thankful I don't have to do what I had to do in a previous life in there, you know, because that place, it does get a bit. Last question for you about the ball. Comes from the New England area. Go ahead, Conman. Yeah, Jays, you've called the Patriots game, so you've talked to some of the guys in there, but obviously the big conversation is Drake May's kind of regression through these first three weeks. What do you think's going on? Do you think it's solvable? Is it more of a McDaniels offensive scheme type thing? Is it more May decision-making being bad in his accuracy? What is kind of your entire take on that? I've seen a lot of discourse about it. Obviously, we had their game two weeks ago, and I mean, I truthfully don't have the best answer for it, but I do know that as you're studying the game and you're looking at some of the things and the tendencies, there's certainly some things there that can be preyed upon if you're dialing things up in certain situations. And now they're not the least obvious things of all time. Like, it's, I mean, their second and eight plus, second and seven plus passing rate compared to the rest of the league is just extremely low. Extremely high. So, you know, certain times you can tee off or if they do this after a stuffed run or an incomplete on first down, then there's just some of them that stick out even more than other situations. And maybe that's part of it. Maybe it is a regression. Maybe it is just not seeing the field as well and not having A.J. Brown. There's all sorts of things that can play into it, but it's very clearly a problem. I mean, even the game that we had where they beat the Steelers, their defense was the star of the show that day. It wasn't the offense. Travion Henderson had the long run, which was great, but it wasn't the passing game that was the star of the show. So, clearly, there is an issue. I'm not exactly sure exactly what it is. Mike Vrabel said, you know, whenever you're trying to do good at golf, you're squeezing the hell out of that driver and you just need to loosen up a little bit. They say he's trying to do too much, potentially, in between the years and physically pressing, I believe, is how other people would describe it. Is that what Patriots fans think are happening or not? Patriots fans, I believe, have no idea. They're freaking out. And the Red Sox lose to the Yankees in a bad way last night? Yeah, if it wasn't for J.J. Paterka, we'd be screwed right now. J.J. Paterka had a huge night for the Bruins, I do believe. I mean, I know everybody likes to, like, nobody wants to hear it either, but, like, their schedule is harder. Like, that's just the truth. Like, the playoff run was kind of where there were some issues, and this year, the schedule is more difficult. So, you're playing tougher teams. They have another year of film on you. They're able to study you a little better, scheme it up a little better. Grandpa Rossi, two-time World Series champion, will be joining us in about 10 minutes to chit-chat about everything happening around the MLB wildcard that started yesterday, continues today, into tomorrow, if need be, I guess, as the MLB playoffs propel themselves into the world. To the stratosphere, maybe into the moon yesterday. Big storylines, big stars, big dongs, big baseball. Yeah, kind of everything you could ask for. Yeah, I loved it. That's the Talks Table at Boston Conner, and that's Ty Schmidt, Con Man's Red Sox. Had a pretty good start to it, and then around like the fourth or fifth inning, it all just kind of unfolded. As they get their ace off the mind, who's, I think, an old-school guy. If they would have told him to throw 200 pitches last night, I think he would have done that. You guys may be out-think yourself. Nonetheless, it is nice to be in a position of baseball where I understand a little strategy. Sure. I understand what's going on. Like, I think yesterday, there was a couple of dongs in like the seventh inning, sixth inning, you know, things were happening. It's like, oh, that's because the bad pitchers are in. Not the bad pitchers, but, you know. Yeah, not the. Super good pitchers. Exactly. So, like, as the game rolls on, you know, these batters are seeing it a little bit, kind of getting a feel for it, and then there's like a prime position before a closer comes in where there is relief pitchers in there, and that's why those at-bats, like two of them in there, are the most important at-bats for the entirety of the good-hitting people. It's like me learning baseball in real time here has made these games a lot better because whenever I was getting bored at the beginning of some of these. Sure. I know, this is the pitcher's time. Like, hey, beginning of these games is the pitcher's time. We are supposed to be bored because that means the pitcher who has been chosen to start this entire thing is cooking. Then, once that pitcher is taken out, now we're looking into, like, the hitter's portion of the game, and then whenever we close this thing out, that's good on good again there. So, I have learned the flow of baseball last night. more now and i think that's why i enjoyed yesterday so damn much i would say ty yeah no i mean that's that's very accurate when you have these really good pitchers a lot of times in these early innings it is really just hey let's try to scratch one across here any way we can we really want to work counts to get the pitch count up to get him out exactly and then you do like you said when that guy comes out it's like hey this is the this is our advantage zone here before and some teams have really good bullpen so it's kind of the opposite you know they might do like a spot starter where a guy from the bullpen you know he's only going to throw three innings so you need to get them early before they get their their real big horses in but typically yeah you have some of these games it's like you have one to two innings to score your runs and if you don't then it's kind of it's a crap shoot late in the game and it's kind of like you know d-row said yesterday like you're just hoping one of your guys runs runs into one hits a homer and that's how you win yeah it was fun to like have that you know like understanding this yeah yeah exactly understand what both teams are trying to do here when yeah yeah so now let's hope that the sport doesn't stop okay well i will watch don't think don't don't think about that because guess what we're just going to enjoy through october this year and then in all likelihood we're not going to have a season no no no so i've been watching savannah bananas as well that doesn't count i got their rules i think i got their rules gimmick out is two outs you know you can only score one run per inning no matter how many runs you win by that inning and then also we're in the middle of banana playoffs right now i don't know if you know that we're in the middle of banana play i didn't know that because the real playoffs are going on right now and i watched that instead like you know because in like the mlb like ben rice and cam schlittler last night they metaphorically pulled their penises out and put them on the red side that is not what the but they didn't actually pull them out because i think you get extra runs for that in the banana ball play that is not what the banana ball is about banana ball is about showcasing baseball in a fun way on that note we need to see you pitching against these bananas against the bananas see but that i think that gets misconstrued as well like i've said from the get-go like you have to be a good baseball player to be a good baseball player savannah banana i've never said like no i agree but it'd be so fun i would do it jesse the yellow tux yeah jesse yellow tux yeah for him to run your clips on the jumbotron before these savannah bananas walk into the batter's box just get booed like crazy i would assume i don't know unless you're intentionally hitting them i i one of these no i i would go in there trying to strike these guys out i mean i'm not running away from anything i'm not gonna fucking you know hit you know like guess what these guys play baseball every single day and they're all like 10 years younger than me i'd hope they'd be able to you know make some good contact against me and rough me up a little bit now there's a chance that these guys right here go yard and yard and yard and yard and yard and yard and yard on yard on you yeah definitely but there is a chance that you go you start cooking out there what if you drop a couple you know a little noon to sixes you're banging they got nothing to do with it maybe ty is the next great banana ball pitcher i won't be because you know what you'll never see me doing is this mickey mouse bullshit i'm not signing up for that i don't want to do that i get it i know the kids love it and i don't have any boys so maybe that is is a difference you know maybe but again i've never been so this is really all you know i shouldn't maybe judge before i've actually been to a game but as of right now um again you know we got the mlb playoffs i got i'm i got all eyes i just want to let you know i've been to a game i know you said it was awesome awesome incredible time filled up the stadium they're college football stadiums and guess what my girls would love it i know they would and they will yeah and uh follow up you're gonna have to learn too because there's no baseball coming after this playoff so let's enjoy all of this i'm trying i'm trying right now uh nine-year nfl vet darius j butler yesterday your florida panthers get a huge win over the caniacs to start their 84 game campaign into the playoffs for the stanley cup nhl is all the way back mlb is happening football obviously cooking feels like a fantastic time for sports fans across the globe great time for sports obviously hockey been back like you said watching that banner night watching them come out with laura stanley you kind of knew as a four-con conclusion that the panthers don't come out to win new goalie in net for us pitched an absolute shutout stood on his head so love that for the start barky's back our captain uh the chuck brothers i mean what more could you ask for starting off with a hot one uh love that and now like you said mlb playoffs what's that this guy knows puck yes he does are you guys why are you not i'm just saying you're talking puck before like or want to act like you don't know puck okay this guy knows okay thank you i appreciate that i also know baseball too so sanchez and christopher sanchez we hey he got he's on the bump game two who talked about it yesterday our skip he talked about him been on the bump so yeah didn't love them uh starting like that losing by three but uh yeah it's a hot time for sports yeah sports are phenomenal tomorrow night afc north cleveland browns host the pitch oh wait last night wba playoffs fever oh yeah caitlyn clark went off kelsey mitchell went off we're obviously uh maybe slight underdogs against the defending champ aces asia wilson she had a little run-in with a fan you know hostile environment playoff environment caitlyn hit shot point talking to candace parker i love it right now i was trying to figure out how we go about talking about everything that happened in a city in which uh connor lives uh dumpy lives i've called him for a long long time here outside of it uh with the fever and the aces i've decided everybody knows what happened okay we don't need us to dive into this kudos i don't like the immediate indiana people are saying the worst thing you can imagine right now immediately from commentators basically like we've seen this before in indiana okay now indiana also a place that sells out an arena for every wmba game so maybe not the worst place on earth uh maybe the worst place on earth uh maybe the worst place on earth uh maybe there has been situations in the past that have taken place in a lot of different arenas around you know the country and stadiums and certainly maybe here in indianapolis with the mega star caitlyn clark coming here and selling out uh every arena that she goes into all the time but i think i think what gets forgotten in this whole thing maybe even by some of the people that cover the wmba that are at the game and attacking some of the fans there this this is a very committed fan base to the wmba like fever fans are they here they show up they have rallies they have uh outside watch parties they rent out restaurants they they have been an economic boost for our city for our area in a massive way i mean an absolutely massive way i'm a former season ticket holder just a couple years ago i wasn't able to make it to enough game connor was a season ticket order actually sat dick mitt is a current season ticket holder for the uh fever con man actually sat directly next to the guy who said that fouls on you terrible man for saying this that foul is on you despicable reaction i guess can't do that not in a not in a basketball game no way not if you've paid tens of thousands of hundreds of thousands of dollars to be a season ticket order to support this team i i would just think it would be you know very kind of people that are covering it to not just automatically assume because you're in indiana that the worst possible outcome is going to be a season ticket order to support this team now on that note i also respect asia just being an absolute beast she's a dog she's like goat status in this entire thing but like any other athlete goes into crowd because of a point they would get absolutely suspended suspended but just like the way people would talk about them sure and what would happen yeah definitely so i like that asia was potentially going to fight that guy okay i like that trait i would like my daughter to have that type of competitive juice but like you can't just like automatically assume this guy's the worst person on earth because athlete over reacts to a point in the fourth quarter of a playoff game elimination game for a fever uh with one of their biggest fans this guy's been a season ticket holder for years and years and years so i i just i think the way it was all kind of laid out was certainly that fever fans are the worst people on earth just because they are the worst people on earth and instead we had a little dust up there's a little dust up down here last night okay we move on game three we would like asia playing okay wait a minute oh she's one thousand percent playing you gotta suspend her you have to what's house i'm looking at you engelstone you have to suspend her sure if i know she's stepping down at the end of the season don't let your league go to you can't have people just running into the crowd go all willy-nilly i mean like you said this is a playoff environment this is a win-or-go-home game you gotta suspend her i don't like it because you're right i i want to beat the aces at full strength i want the best player on the court but what's right is right i'm sorry kaylin clark broke some records last night she's obviously an absolute superstar a lot of conversations about her baby not being able to play in wmba she's not that good the way people talk about her she's not that good well she's been the needle mover she's been the merch mover she's been the deal mover and last night she was moving buckets and assists at a rate that has never been seen before in the wmba and she's not the only one kelsey mitchell i think she just scored another 20 and another 20 and another 20 and another 20. oh yeah boston will give you those buckets and then sophie cunningham she will you know i'm surprised she didn't actually four season ticket holder down excuse me i'm the one you're supposed to be fighting here as she gets fouled and then called for a foul in the same exact play that led to this entire thing so coach white in the fever now and last night i think could be a good rally for these fever fans who there are a bunch of i mean that is a huge fan base, a passionate fan base, and a lot of people travel from all over Midwest to come here. So we are grateful that the Fever are in Indianapolis, and it would be cool if they just knocked off the champs. Because Minnesota is supposed to be good this year, right? Oh, number one seed. Yeah, it's more history. Last night, first number one seed knocked off by an eighth seed. Wow. Yeah. Wow. I don't like what they're doing to Rookie of the Year, a little bit of Miles on the internet. It's not nice. Hey, welcome. It's not fair, but this is just the internet these days, I guess. If anything happens, you're going to get absolutely cooked. So I don't like that. She had a hell of a rookie season. Great rookie season. But who was the eighth seed that beat the number one seed? That has to be a bad team. The Liberty, I believe. The New York Liberty? Wow. Limp into the playoff. They were just kind of. Yeah, we knew Liberty were going to be around. Sabrina got right. You think he's too? Stewie. Yeah, right. Bandersloot. Now, if the Fever are knocking out the Aces in round one, good luck. Yeah. Good luck. You might have to just. Give him the trophy. Maybe in an empty arena, though. So nobody accidentally does this, you know, because we just like the game to be played. Could you imagine just thinking about doing this in the middle of a basketball game to somebody who should have been called a foul? What a. You know what? I don't like that guy. I mean, Bruce, what this guy has said to TJ McCollum. That's not his name. Is it TJ McConnell? Come on. That's not his name. He's the man. Yeah, I got it. But you're motherfucking that guy up and down the court. I'm thinking of TJ Ford, the former Milwaukee Bucks and Texas Longhorn great. Pacer, too. Yeah, he was a Pacer as well. But, you know, that guy can do that. And they basically just give him a warning. And this nice gentleman points and we're going to toss his ass out of the arena and then bring him back in. Just come on. Get it right. We had some boots on the ground in there. Obviously, we have season ticket holders amongst us here. And I guess whenever he was getting escorted out there, it was a big pop for him. And then as he came back in, I guess there was a big pop for him as well. I don't doubt it. A lot of people around him, you know, that are probably going to find out what is said, what's not said. And I just think it was a lot of emotions. But I don't like the immediate Indianapolis. You know what that is. It's like, what? Do we know that's what that is? I don't. We're just looking about who's sitting. Is he? So we just think this guy's walking around doing that in public just all day, every day. Because he lives in Indianapolis, Indiana. It's like, that feels like a little bit of a stretch. But there has been situations in the past in sports where things have gone way too far. Happy it didn't end up being physical. We move on. Fever. Take on Asia Wilson and the Aces in game three. When is game three? Tomorrow night. In Vegas, yep. They only get one day of rest flying across the country. Mm-hmm. Englestone needs to figure it out. It's not her name. It's ridiculous. If you're an NFL vet, that's not her name. It's Kathy Engelbert. She's a friend of the club. Are you sure? She just negotiated like a, how many billion dollar deal for media rights? Seven or eight billion dollar media rights deal for the WNBA. Pretty sure she was the one that got rid of the McRib at McDonald's. She did come from some other form of business. I don't know if she was the head of McDonald's. What a great move. I believe she did. Absolute shite. Yeah, right. Absolute shite. What is that? No way, dude. Did she come from McDonald's? I'm almost positive she worked at McDonald's. I thought it was like Veloit or something. She definitely worked at Deloitte as well, but someone can fact check that. I'm pretty sure she was maybe on the board of McDonald's. I think she was the first woman ever on the board or like president. Yeah, she was very high up in McDonald's. Kathy is one of the most accomplished businesswomen in the history. No doubt. There's been a couple things that have happened in her league that people are just like, get this woman away from everything. She was on the board of directors. Do it. She was the CEO of Deloitte, though. That's what she did before. Board of directors. I think she walked in there and called a board meeting and was like, we have to get rid of the McRib. And you're pissed about it. D-Butt said good play. Thank God. I like the McRib, too. See? You know how many McRibs that guy's probably had? I'm starting to wonder what all AQ didn't like, though. Yeah, well, and now that I'm thinking about it, I know that was like the one, one yucky thing that, you know, D-Bone. D-Bone loves the McRib. He has mentioned that before. I'll tell you, if she was any part of the dollar menu creation. I heard you got rid of it, too. No, she did not. What do we do? And the McDouble should be $3.29 before tax. McChicken. Oh, man. The best. Single cheeseburger. You get two of those things. Stack those up. Get a McChicken, too. That's three bucks. You got a burger, chicken, burger with everything you need on top of it. Oh, I'd like some Big Mac sauce on there as well. Go ahead and do a Big Mac. Buy yourself extra lettuce on there. You used to manipulate that dollar menu like no other before. I know. What happened to the restaurant I love? A large fry is like five bucks now. It's crazy. What happened to your restaurant, you think? Oh, I think I know. Englestone said we can squeeze a couple dollars out of every more hardworking American. Connor, why are you co-signing this? Kathy had nothing to do with this. It just feels like information I wasn't presented with before, and now all of a sudden I'm thinking wait, Englestone did that, and tickets of the Fever Games went up tenfold. So, did Englestone raise the tickets for the Fever Games, too? No, Tom. My mind is like broken right now. Maybe because business is good, because Kathy was able to accomplish that. And, Ty, I don't love you calling for a suspension of the best player in the league, you know, especially whenever we got two Goliaths taking each other on. Launch the WNBA playoffs and the Fever and the Aces right now. You know what? Rules are rules. And if we don't follow the rules, then we're barnyard animals. So, I mean, you know, I don't like it either. Again, you think I want to hear all that stuff after the Fever win? Well, they did it when they weren't playing Asia Wilson in a, you know, win or go home game three. I don't want that, but also, I think we just need to make sure this league kind of operates. Operates like every other league would. I'm not going to read the fan code of conduct and what the rules are on players visiting. Oh, I'm guessing a suspension is warranted. That would be my guess. I think you can find anything you're looking for out there. Joining us live from an attic in Ohio is a man who's a college football national champion, Super Bowl champion, Fever super fan, father of 11, and also Ryder Cup winner, A.J. Hawk. Pretty dramatic night last night in the WNBA playoffs right here in Indianapolis, brother. It was super dramatic. I actually was watching that live when she went into the crowd after her old buddy. I was wondering how it all would play out. Are people calmed down now, or is everyone all right? I think everybody's okay, yeah. I think everybody's okay. Just getting ready for a big game three elimination game where, you know, the Fever have a chance to say, yeah, we're the new kings. Sorry. We are. I don't know, though. We are the top of the WNBA. They have a chance to do that, and I'm excited to see them do it. I don't want a suspension for Asia, even though it sounds like some people, who are diehard Fever fans, which I guess I'll hear from you, whether or not you would want that. But I would like to see full strength. It's a playoff atmosphere. It's a little dust up. The guy, blue-collar guy, who worked his ass off to get to this particular position, there's no way he's calling for suspension either. Let's just continue to do ball. You know what I mean, A.J.? That's how I feel. Yeah, of course. You diehard Fever fan, though. I don't know how you feel. I am diehard Fever fan, but, no, I think we want to beat them at full strength, obviously. I think it was mentioned earlier in the show. You want to beat them at full strength. She didn't make contact. If she would have gone out there and poked him in the eyeball or something and punched him, then you could talk possibly sitting her down for a game. Now I think, though, we all realize, like, A, A's just taller than you, more athletic than you, stronger than you, and she will, you know. Like, if you just happen in public, cross her, she'll—I think she could probably drop anybody. She might be eating one. Yeah. I think she wanted to do that to him. But you saw what she did through that curtain. He would have ate it, too. What happened? That lady behind that curtain just walking by. She ran through. Bop. Yeah. She can bring it. But, look, you know these great athletes, you always got to find some shit. Michael Jordan, oh, this waiter said this, or these different athletes, they find shit. Russell Westbrook. You see this a lot more in basketball, and I think that's why people were kind of, I guess, taken aback because you—I know I've never seen it with Asia Wilson with the, you know, going into the crowd or some shit like that, so you just assume that something crazy was said, but then she came out even after and was like—no, he was pointing at me and walking towards me, so, you know, so it was kind of like, okay, yeah. It might have been an overreaction for sure, but I can't wait for game three. I'll tell you that much. She didn't touch anybody, okay? No. But she certainly proved that. Let's make sure we know. She's about it. Yeah, she is, and I respect the hell out of that. On that note, we need a fever win. Basketball justice for the man who's paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to watch— Been seeing a ticket holder for years. Watch the WNBA. Guy loves it down there. Hard worker. Yes. Didn't make his money, like, in an easy way. I mean, this guy out there. They're doing it, and he was in the middle of it all last night. As the WNBA playoffs happening, the NHL drops puck on its season. That's right. And then MLB wildcard. Joining us now is a man who has conquered that multiple times. Two-time World Series champ, former skip, assistant skip for Team USA, ESPN pundit, analyst, living legend, icon. Ladies and gentlemen, they call him Grandpa Davey Raw. Davey Raw. How you doing, buddy? What up, boys? Dude, yesterday, good baseball. I don't know if you heard me say it earlier, I have learned baseball, you know, through this process, through friends like you and also everybody at Team USA for being so welcoming and MLB folks being so welcoming, I feel like I learned baseball here a little bit and understand what I'm looking at as opposed to just a long-ass game that's taking forever. There's different portions of the game where we need to take advantage of things or we need to just understand what's happening in real time. I think that type of patience is something that not a lot of sports have, but obviously baseball, because of how many times you fail, you have to have that. Now, with that being said, as a super baseball fan, was yesterday the perfect way to kind of start this or blowouts with the Yankee Sox and then inevitably late night, your Cubbies just getting smacked by the Padres. First pitch, gone. So all the way through, how did you kind of judge yesterday's action and how should we view it from outside the baseball world? Well, the kind of playoff ball you want is Phillies Braves, right? Like that was, that's an epic playoff game to kick everything off. So you're, super pumped, excited. Austin Riley here, a hundred, just oppo taco, coming back late, bottom of the ninth, big at bat. And he had struggled, man. He had, he was awful during the regular season and a guy that has had some moments like this in the post-season. So big home run for there. Don Magley goes to his closer, De'Ron, early in the seventh, super early for a closer, but they've been really short in pitching and electric in Atlanta, as you see there. And they locked down. A game one win, but I thought the White Sox game was all right. You know, a little back and forth. It was impressive to see the young White Sox lineup team. They did a really nice job of going the other way. I think eight of their 11 hits were up the middle of the way. You don't expect that from a young group in their first playoff game. Really poised, good at bats. Will Venable had to absolutely manage a bullpen. I think they used like six or seven pitchers. One of their closers had, had 54 pitchers. His all-time high before that was 30. So some of these guys really, the strategy went. And then, you know, the Yankee game was close. I love what Toley did. The story for me was Cam Schlittler, absolutely dominant. Broke out the breaking ball, as you see here, just nasty stuff. He had an all-time high in breaking balls as well. You know, you go into that game, if you're the Red Sox, it's going to be firm. It's four seams, sinker, cutter. And he broke out the breaking ball and it was absolutely nasty. He was dominant. Some big hits, Ben Rice with a four for five day, two homers, kind of put it away here. I didn't love the, I didn't love this Miller move. I thought Toley was pitching good enough to stay in. He was only at 84 pitches. He comes in, gives up the solo shot to Rice with two outs. They make that move. And then things kind of got out of hand after that. But, you know, the Sox will have their bullpen fresh. You got Sonny Gray going today. Should be another battle. He's going to have a chip on his shoulder from being in, New York and not doing well. And then, yeah, Covey's offense didn't show up. I think the story is Michael King had a no hit bid into the seventh. I mean, he was absolutely filthy. And then the Stars starred last night. The Tatises, the Machados, Tatis here, all three homers on the change up from Boyd. I don't know if they had something on him, but PCA giving it his best. But the Cubs offense didn't really show up. But San Diego has been on a run late in the season, second half. And they've got, some really big time players that stepped up in game one. So San Diego's a real threat right now, man. That place has turned into a real home field advantage, different than when I played. They weren't as good. They've got Stars. The fans are backing them. They're hot. They've got one of the best bullpens in the game. It is another change up there from Machado. Just leaned on that one. So fun day. A lot of good storylines, I guess. But I love to see the close ones. I think like you guys. Yeah. And obviously Chris Sale, friend of the program. Playing or throwing the way he threw was sweet to watch. Philly's Schwerbo had a sweet USA headband like that to kind of get it all started. Let's go back to the Cubs-Padres game and what you said there about Boyd with the change up. So you said they had something on him. They had a tell on him. So he was tipping it. He was tipping it somehow. Well, that's the one of the things you, when they're all on one pitch, you kind of, you don't know. I didn't, I wasn't locked in on that. But when you look at, the first one's rough. You start the first pitch off of the game with a change up. The change up's made to be off the fastball. So like you're just throwing like a BP heater to start the game, really. It didn't have a lot of movement on it. You don't have a feel for it yet, possibly. Maybe they knew Tatis was going to swing and he was trying to get something out of the zone and just pulled it a little bit. But you know, big home run and then Machado right after that. And then Xander Bogarts, who's had a rough year, takes him deep too down the line on a change up. Okay. So can you tell me a little bit about the operation of that maybe? So somebody will have it. Somebody will say, Hey, I was watching. Feels like whenever he's throwing change up, his elbow goes out first before it goes up. Is it something like that? Is it how they hold the ball? Is it like obviously first pitch of the game? You're not expecting that, but what could it be? And what have things been in the past that you guys have noticed? Yeah. Great question. I think like, you know, there was one guy when I played that I wasn't good at picking up tips, but we faced a guy I took deep and like when he worked fast, fast was slow. So if he went really fast out of his windup, he was going to throw you a breaking ball. But if he like went really slow, he was going to try to surprise you with the fastball. So it was like, you could tell really early, but a lot of guys, if you look like a lot of guys will flare their glove on the change up or their, the angle of the change up or the elbow, like you talked about, you can pick it up from the, from the, from the back of like the backside looking in there here. Like if I was, if I was at second base and you could see my wrist a certain way down, it would be different pitches. If there's a guy on second, there's a lot of different things. Yeah. Yeah. Well, uh, Marcus Stroman used to, we didn't find out until he had a terrible game against, um, the twins, but he, every time he threw a slider before he would throw the pitch, he'd be like, take his tongue out. And we, we didn't know one of the, one of the guys that he knew on the other team told him after they beat the crap out of us and I had to take him out in like the third inning. But, um, and he was pitching well at the time. So they, when you get to that point, I don't know, like I hate starting that stuff, but when you see it all a home run on a change up, it's, uh, it just like my, my red flags go off as a former player manager. It's like, oh, I wonder if they had anything on him. Cause when you, when you're preparing for the playoffs, you're you're, you've got guys in the front office and all your guys, uh, underneath the coaches digging on everything. And that's something that they try to pick up, man. Think about the celebration whenever they like actually execute on that. Hey, we got something. This guy's going to throw us a meatball whenever he does this. We just have to take advantage of it when it happens. And boom, three home runs happen. I appreciate that insight. Obviously as somebody that didn't play, I didn't know that there was that intricate of details that could potentially be tipping a pitch, but it makes sense. Whenever you guys are playing 162 games, we're looking for absolutely everything. Ty has a couple of follow-ups for you, grandpa. Yeah. Rossi, just curious. Uh, how do you think like teams that are especially down Oh one in these series, like how will they deploy their bullpens? Uh, like tonight with the socks, you know, I mean, you mentioned, I agree, you know, I can't believe they took out Peyton totally as early as they did. And I guess when you get your ass kicked like that, you don't really have to use any of your horses in the back end, but like, obviously they want Sonny gray to go a little bit deeper, but like for them and the Yankees, like, are you thinking that we might see them go to the bullpen as early as like the fifth inning tonight? Just because a, like the, you know, the Yankees are super fresh and freed's still kind of working back from his injury. And then on the flip side, you know, with the, the red socks, they obviously have the horses back there and it's do or die. How do you think these teams and not just that game in particular, but how do you think these teams are going to deploy their bullpens tonight? Yeah, I think they're going to go all in, especially like you talked about the red socks, the teams that are down can't wait around and the bullpen games are real. It's hard to size guys up. And when you have a bullpen, like the red socks on the back end, you're going to see Garrett Wicklock early. You're going to see a Rallis Chapman may be asked to get multiple. It's like, they're going to the boys. Sonny gray's had a phenomenal season, but he's not, he's, he's more of a contact, not a big strikeout guy, uh, in that ballpark. The thing that interests me about that matchup is, uh, the Yankees are kind of doing this platoon advantage thing, right? Left. They've got a ton of guys on the bench, uh, and, and they're able to, to mix and match lefty righty. So you're going to see a completely different infield. Ben rice will still DH. Um, you're going to see maybe jazz Chisholm at second base. You're going to see McMahon at third base. You're going to see, um, uh, Grisham in center, probably Jones again in right belly and left. Um, I, I, I know, um, the catcher still catch like they're, they're going to, they're going to kind of have a completely different lineup. So that, that'll be interesting to see Garcia first. Sorry. Um, so you're going to have to see how the game goes with Sonny gray, but you're not going to wait around for, uh, you know, any kind of real deficit. Something happens early. You're going to go and deploy those guys. All right. AJ has the last question for you here. Rossi is, um, obviously MLB wildcard today. What time? First game. I think all the games are the exact same time. Two o'clock two, five, eight, and 10. I like that. I like that. Yeah. I mean, yesterday was fantastic. Five o'clock hockey yesterday as well. I mean, it was, and it was a banner ceremony. It's like yesterday delivered today. We'll as well go ahead. AJ last question for grandpa here. Yeah. Rossi. Could you quickly explain a little bit how the pitch comm situation came about? Like when it came into the league and how it changed, I guess how games are played. I know you as a catcher had to affect what you were doing. How was it different now than it was back in the day? Well, back in the day, you'd have all these systems. Um, Of like signs like, you know, we're given the stuff that we remember the signs and the catcher's crotch I think like now MLB realized just the sign stealing thing was was real and people watching on video with all the cameras that we have in the game Right now they're watching video from center field trying to decode the signs Back in the day like some simple stuff would be like first sign after two So if I did like three one two three, it'd be a slider be after the two, right? Let's catch that thing. Go ahead. You're gonna do it. I don't show you're telling me right now. All right, so I'm pitcher You're telling me it's coming when? Okay, so after I when I put a two down, it's the next sign So once fastball twos curveball three slider and wiggle change, let's just say all right So if I go one three two Now it's the next sign which would be a three So you would throw a slider Right, and then a lot of times it was shit if you shake me off if it would be it'd be first sign Let's say shake shake. I'd say shake last So if you shake me off, I'd go through a series of signs and it'd be the last sign I put down So we'd go fastball. All right, let's do one. Let's do one here. Let's do one Yeah, let's go. Let's go ahead and roll. I like it. All right, so we're gonna we're gonna go I'll do my favorite one I did with with John Lester. It's first sign after three or Last okay, so if I don't put two Down a three is the last sign I give. Oh, I thought and what if I shake you off? Shake you off. We'll go first sign. Okay. All right, sweet. Okay So if I go two two three one three, what is it? fastball nice Yeah, I go if I go two two one one three. What is it slider? You're locked in baby I like that. I was gonna just shake off if I didn't know the answer Anyways, like that one I should have but yet first one after three or last one being three Certainly a nice little mental game. You just had for your pitcher. How fast you calling those very fast. We're rolling through those Yeah, we're rolling through pretty quick the one a pitch clock when I was in there, but you're you're moving pretty quickly You're trying to keep a rhythm You don't you like first pitch of the at-bat you're pretty simple and then if you see a guy paying attention, I'd get a little tricky and sometimes with like I would set them up to learn first time after the three and then a Big pitch like a 3-2 pitch with a man on second I would go last time and now they now the guys relayed the wrong wrong sign to the hitter and you might get a might get A bad swing or a frozen pizza type thing. Look let's strike out looking. I like frozen pizza. I likes it, bro Yeah, don't we all I went to Sparrow actually the other day. Oh just my remind of me I was I went to 2002 the other day. Yeah, I went to a mall and it was Packed to the gills we had samples Chinese food samples in the we had Sparrow See you bring it still break. It was 2002 Hot Topic packed out Aeropostale was in there Abercrombie Hollister JC Penney. That's sick. Oh baby. We're locked in dude It was it was 2002 everybody in there. What no phones out if literally I thought I was back in time. I was Mind-blown hat low sunglasses. I was just walking through there having a time of my life It was like the old days. It really felt like I was back in my roval mall Just kind of walking around there trying to figure out life. I wish I would have played baseball more I'm starting to learn more about it And I really like it. Thank you for joining us brother. Thank you for being a friend of the program Always a pleasure boys. Y'all good luck. Take care. Hey, when do you tell the middle finger fastball? You're just saying hey this guy needs to eat one or we all do we all kind of understand that when they hit your When they hit your best best player in the head or they do something stupid then you start flipping the bird to them really quick And usually that's a conversation that happens pretty fast It doesn't take a lot of doesn't take a lot of communication to get that one across. I like that Did you ever get like kicked, you know? Cuz like God gets hit knows it's you Right there. Yeah to the pitchers ever happen. There's uh, well, there was a I mean, I know I don't know how a time we got But like in spring training Guillermo moto was a pitch with the Dodgers and I was a rookie and we go to the Mets and they had some words in a game in Vero Beach and spring training him and Mike Piazza and Mike Piazza He hit Mike Piazza when we went back there and I was catching he came in late in the game smoke Piazza Piazza charged him and it got hairy fast I had to go try to get catch to run down Mike Piazza and I grabbed him and He I slipped off of him trying to great. I just saw this big meat hook just reach back about to smoke my pitcher I grabbed his meat hook and went flying into center as the the pile went towards the dugout and our guy was running and it was chaos Piazza gives you a hip toss Just toss me all the way to second base almost hey baseball has a little fighting it as well We should show that respect long season. We're in the middle of the greatest part of it. You're the best ladies gem. It's grandpa Rossi Yeah, cuz a kick to the catchers right there that's happened - there's a classic there's that I think in the minors somewhere Wasn't it? Oh, yeah, it's like sweet chin music like right to the catchers I mean, yeah, because you're sitting there did the pitcher decide to do this or is this this person? I think my natural reaction would be it's because of you. I think that would be my natural reaction. I assume cleats the head there That's probably pretty punishable offense. Yeah Yeah, I would assume you can't do that in this entire World of baseball there's rules, you know, I think you guys said that banging on trash cans with video not good Yeah, not great. But if you do pick up something all again, you kind of do what you got to do There's a lot of little intricacies of baseball. Go ahead I mean, we just saw it happen college football at Dante more where his leg was just a little further back on all of his Runs and then when it wasn't as far back, you knew he's passing it's like Those things you pick up through film and that's one thing but if they had a guy just like Connor Stallion's picking up You know calls from the other sideline. That's where it goes too far. Oh, yeah, Connor Stallion's certainly getting the credit for being the best Sign getter a long time allegedly utilize some electronics. I think that is where people get mad Yeah, if you could pick it up with just your brain Good if you bring in electronics and you're recording and you're studying and then you're doing it in off times As well as on times. I think that's when people kind of feel disrespected By it now on that note whenever it comes to actual play or lineup like you said for Dante more I was very fortunate enough to be a part of a couple Quarterback meetings that Peyton was a part of and it's like Jim Sorge Curtis painter those backup quarterbacks and Peyton. They're looking for a DB to do one thing Hey, we just need something. Is he is his right foot a little bit back? Is he squatting a little bit more maybe whenever he's gonna play press like any piece of information they could find from film They were gonna try to exploit that and I assume you guys knew that as well everything you did everything has to look the exact Same. Oh, yeah, we had coaches Quality control guys who that's what they look for their watch TV copies listening for cadence Obviously if you had a former player like for example, Reggie Wayne played with Peyton for a long time So when Peyton comes into town now Peyton's gonna change everything for sure So you can't get too caught up in it and then we had to tell on a guy like Ben Roethlisberger like run pass But okay, what okay are passing the ball? You still got to stop the concept. You still got to make a play So it comes down to execution, but the more, you know pre snap, you know, it'll definitely help you Well, that's just why I think in baseball that got so pissed is because when you play that many Games like you are seeing these teams like, you know If it's a divisional team like you're playing them like 15 16 times a year and you're seeing these pitchers a bunch So it's like if you do have a tell on a guy or you're you know, just using film and cheating It's like, you know, you're automatically winning that matchup and you might see that guy four or five times over the course of season Let's pivot away from baseball and let's go to something that dropped puck yesterday But tonight it really starts because the Pittsburgh Penguins are playing laser gentlemen The man who is known as the greatest hockey player of all time for good reason I from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania used to say he was the second best player or maybe third best player in the history of hockey Then some people as I continued to say this publicly came up to me and said hey, do you know if you got rid of just? goals It's entirely this guy would still lead the history of the NHL in points. So not just like good at scoring also good at setting up and manipulation of defense and also as Willing to hit and also lat of the lads. This is by far the great one No questions asked now he's on TV with TNT talking about the greatness of hockey ladies and gentlemen Wayne Gretzky Nice to see everyone. Thanks for having me on and you're right last night was a great start The game couldn't be in better shape and it's fun to watch. I'm a fan and I love it It's and you know tonight Pittsburgh and Philly Pittsburgh's got some things to prove after getting beat last year upset in the playoffs by the young Flyers so Sid is on top of his game. I look to him for him to have another great season. He's defying age He gets better every year. How many years did you play in the NHL? How old were you whenever you and hung up the skates finally? I turned pro at 17 one year in the wha in Indianapolis and then Edmonton, of course Go race and then 19 years. So I got 20 years of professional hockey And you know the great thing about the game was playing the games And one of the reasons I retired was the older you get the more you have to train and I just mentally couldn't figure out Okay, how am I gonna train two to three hours a day five or six days a week? And that's when I knew it was time to retire Well, the game certainly misses you in the game is happy that you're back calling it Sidney Crosby I believe in his 22nd season now all with Pittsburgh. We're incredibly lucky and thankful that he's there alongside Gino and Tangerine That's at 7:30 tonight. Also Islanders Maple Leafs and Kings and Avalanche Let's go back to yesterday a little bit with you talking about the games Carolina Hurricanes now start their trek after being world champions for the first time Florida Panthers debut a brand new team with Brady Kachuk out there they had to watch the entire Stanley Cup banner celebration before the game even started thought it was a walk for the Panthers what do you expect from those two teams both the Carolina Panthers and of our Carolina Hurricanes and the Florida Panthers well listen I don't think there's anything worse than being a Stanley Cup champion or Super Bowl champion and then losing and then the next year you go in and you have to see your biggest rival raising the banner I think that you're standing on the blue line gritting your teeth thinking and hoping okay I can't wait to get this game started and try to win back what we had two years ago so you know Florida that Bill Zito's done an incredible job putting together a really good young hockey club and last year was not really a reflection of their team they had a lot of key injuries for a lot of teams and they had a lot of good teams and they had a lot of of the year Matthew Kachuk is such a big part of the success of that team you know he's such an agitator but it's one thing to be an agitator but you got to be able to play the game it's it doesn't do the team any good if you're just an agitator but Matthew is a leader he scores big goals he makes big plays the two guys that I kind of relate to when I played were Theo Fleury was that kind of a player and Sean Avery those two guys they were agitators but they could play the game and you got to be able to do that and so now I'm going to be able to play the game and I'm going to be able to Brady the brother and you know you can see it how close they are as a family their father's a hall of famer they've got two Olympic gold medals they got two Stanley Cups now it's a good time for that family to go buy a lottery ticket I think they've already hit it a couple times now yeah okay obviously it's earned and deserved I'm excited for Florida Panther to get back into the conversation of Stanley Cup alongside obviously the Pittsburgh Penguins AJ has a question for you great one yeah I'm just curious yourself as a player when you were playing do would you attack certain goalies like would you have a book on each goalie I think like as football players we think hey you you're going to play against like certain defensive coordinators and their calls and what they're doing I'm thinking for you scoring so many goals and points obviously do you have a specific plan for each goalie as you go yeah you know and I think that the one thing that I learned about playing professional sports is I had so much respect for coaching staff and I was like a was that way we wanted all the intel that we could get and you know the game is played at such a high pace and it's so fast and it's way faster today than it was back when we played but there's always idiosyncrasies that goalies have whether he catches right-handed catches left-handed if he likes to go down if he opens his legs uh if he comes out and challenges you a little bit more than another guy so yeah all that information is vital because the game is so fast yeah the it feels like modern technology as well we have stats and analytics on everything i think goalies probably even have stats and analytics on where guys like to shoot you know but how much information oh absolutely yeah absolutely and the better the goalie the more that that they take in and more video that they watch it's like every other sport the best athletes and the the most unique players on those teams those are hardest working guys usually and take sydney crosby and ovechkin i mean they're 20 years in and both of them are still important and imperative to the success of their team um and that's a good thing and the other side of it is we got some great young players now with celebrini and mcdavid and mckinnon um on and on it's just bedard in chicago it's just a great time for the national hockey league and these kids are really good athletes ticket sales up last night for the start of the nhl season across the board and all the arenas hopefully that will continue because the sport is incredible and awesome you just mentioned one name there and you talk about the next generation a lot of pressure go ahead d bud yeah he's talking about connor mcdavid and if you're a connor mcdavid you're a connor mcdavid you're a connor mcdavid casual outside of hockey you know everyone says he's the greatest player of his generation but you also say hey when is he going to win well how much pressure is on him now as he approaches kind of that 30 year old mark yeah i'm sure there's a little bit more pressure right now than there was say five six seven years ago you know there's no question he's the best player of the game um the question might be in a couple years is he go down as the greatest player ever lived uh i always tell people that bobby or and gordie how are the two greatest players ever lived messi was the best player ever played uh played with and mario mario lemieux was the greatest player ever played against so you know corner there's always a stigma about winning the stanley cup and i know him really well nobody wants to win a championship worse than he does so hopefully his time will come i know it's not from a lack of effort or dedication or love of the sport and i hope one day he gets that opportunity to lift the stanley cup he definitely deserves it he's the one guy team sell tickets he's one of the players in the league that's going to win the tickets and you know we desperately need him in our game yeah don't we kind of need him with the penguins well i live in florida i'd like to see him there but people in edmonton don't want him to leave yeah people in edmonton are gonna be pissed that you said it with me they just think that i'm uh obviously i think he's i think he's a mainstay at edmonton he likes it there the organization is a good organization and they got a chance every year to win and that's all he wants and i i don't see uh corner leaving edmonton what did bouchard had five points last to start the entire pretty good yeah pretty good for the edmonton oilers last night if they i think he's a i think he's the first guy to get a hat trick as a defenseman in game one since mark how and i think there was a guy in 1919 that did it also first game of the year as a defenseman so he's in pretty good company with mark how yeah i'd say pretty good company hat trick and two assists so i mean we're we're a part of everything absolute magic with the long stick back there edmonton oilers don't win one though again every offseason every end of season it's like mcdavid we want to see him we want to see him we want to see him hopefully they're able to get it done for the good of the sport no go ahead i think the thing i've said on tv the last few years they've been to two stanley cup finals and the thing i've said and this is what i'm hearing out of the new coaching staff that you need a third and fourth line that you need a second power play unit and you know one line or one guy can't win a championship you've got to have 20 guys pulling on the same rope and i think that's what this is going to bring into that team is this is going to be a way better team come february than it is in october let's talk about another canadian team who's been hyped up crazy and has it won go ahead con man yeah way no obviously past talking about the toronto maple leaves it's been pretty ugly but they got the number one pick gavin mckenna he made his debut last night what'd you think about it did you expect it to be what it was bill kneelander goes out there scores a goal right away but what do you think about the maple leaf chances and gavin mckenna this year well listen they're in a rebuilding process um there's no question when you get the first pick overall that means you didn't have a very good year the year before but my hat goes off to this young man you know it's one thing to go to toronto and be the first pick overall and there's way more pressure of your canadian boy and you get dropped the number one by canada in toronto and i've listened to a lot of what he said i've listened to him talk he seems like he's very mature for 18 years old hey listen it's gonna take a little bit of time he's a young big but he's gonna grow and get bigger and stronger but i really like the way he's handled himself uh with the media and with the game itself he's gonna be fine and i think that the the group in toronto has put together a nice little hockey club here i think they're going to be a better team this year than people anticipate i uh i hope that for their fans and they they're viewed as what the dallas cowboys of canada right always high the yankees the yankees of baseball the cowboys of football it's very similar it's you know people love the toronto maple leafs uh it's it's in canada we used to only have two teams so in the 40s 50s and 60s all you watched was either toronto or montreal and so they have this huge following right across the entire country is austin still up there because i heard all the americans want to get the hell out of canada what's that all about no that's not true uh austin i think really likes it there he gets treated great i don't think it's all the americans want to leave canada it's just sometimes business comes into play right and you know for brady to chuck you probably wanted to play with his brother why not and so just happens that he's american boy yeah it just so happens yeah i agree whenever i got a chance to see him at that rams game sitting down what a hilarious situation by the way thank you for the invite up there drinks were fantastic stories were legendary and obviously sitting right behind damard the rosen and russell westbrook and then you know everybody it's just wayne gretzky's here uh first thing i say is hey all the americans are trying to get the hell out of canada huh he goes no no no don't say that don't say that i got that's what i'm reading i'm reading all the headlines they said get me the hell out of this country you go don't don't it's been happening for a long time it's business we understand how this goes like immediately it was like do not i appreciate you having to take that stance for taking that stance but they need to watch shorezy best show on tv the canadians have such good lingo canadians are a funny bunch bro you guys are a funny bunch now talk about hockey a little bit and you know with uh so many games 84 this year there is a wonder on your guys's stats on who what matters and when go ahead ty yeah wayno off that point you know and it seems like the team that wins the stanley cup every year like they're getting hot right as the playoffs start or you know the goalie gets hot how how much stock should we take in this first month of the season both like as players like as a fan like how how much should you be living and dying with how your team looks in the first month of the season knowing that this is a marathon and not a sprint it's definitely a marathon and i I say to people, you know, if you start the season 10 and three, you're in a good spot. You're going to be solid all year. If you start the year three and 10, you're playing catch up the entire year. And then it always seems to be those teams get unlucky and they get some injuries. And that just curtails it into a big tailspin. But when I played back in the day, rinks were different sizes. So like the Boston Garden was small. Buffalo Auditorium was small. The Olympia was small. Chicago Stadium. So you did everything you could to get home ice advantage because we had bigger ice surface. Today, every arena is the same size. So it doesn't matter if you play home or on the road now. Players are comfortable playing on the road. And, you know, John Cooper would tell you we're good friends. And he would say sometimes it's better to start on the road in the playoffs because the players are more together and there's less to worry about outside of the game. And so, yeah, they want to finish first or second as high as they can. And they play hard every night. But it's a long, long season, 84 games. The teams that go in with the hottest goalie and the least amount of injuries seem to be the most successful. I like that you guys were just kind of running a little outlaw outfit back then. When did they get uniform ice? When did they all get the same ice? When the commissioner came in, I think in 92, when they started to build the new arenas, he made it sort of a rule. Okay, all the rinks are going to be the same size. I mean, we played in Boston Garden. I saw a great Bork score from the other side of center. And you thought, wow, he scored from the other side of center. But it was really about the size of the blue line in any other arena. Not that he didn't have a great shot, but it was a difference. And so when you played Boston in the finals, we wanted home ice advantage to get that extra game on a bigger ice surface. And it became important. And that's for all the same size? Because I'll tell you, if you were shooting at a different size, net than everybody else, I'm going to have to start talking about this Great One conversation. You know? I wish the nets were bigger when I played. Yeah, I think you did just fine, pal. I think you did just fine. Last question here, Great One, comes from a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Go ahead, AQ. Yeah, it's been about 10 years since the Penguins won their last cup. And obviously, they've done everything they can to keep the big three together. You've mentioned that Sidney Crosby is defying age. He's still playing at an elite level. They got Malkin. They got Letang. They got Carlson. Do they still have a window to win? Absolutely. When your leader is the most dedicated player on the team, and when your leader is the classiest person in the league, probably, everybody follows that example. So you practice harder. You dedicate yourself to being unselfish as a teammate. And listen, Pittsburgh has been so fortunate. They had Mario Lemieux came in, basically saved hockey in Pennsylvania, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He saved the Penguins. And lo and behold, do we ever think we get a guy that's, that's as good and as classy as Sidney Crosby. And so that city's had two of the greatest players who ever played the game. And two of the most important influential people in our game, in that they were important and imperative for the city of Pittsburgh and for hockey in that area. Well, Wayno, we can't wait to watch the season with you. We appreciate you joining us. Tell Biz and the lads we say hello and good luck this year. All right. Thank you, guys. You guys have a wonderful day. Take care, man. You're the absolute best. That's Wayne Gretzky. Yeah, Wayno. Walk off. See you later. I'm out of here. Doug, go. Go, legend. The best. He's the one that informed me that hockey was dropping puck this week. He said, hey, regular season starts next week, pal. I was like, will you come on the show? Yeah. I start booking it. They show us. And then all of a sudden, I'm like, hockey's happening. Wayne Gretzky's coming on the show? I love that man. Yeah. I absolutely love Wayne Gretzky. He's the best. He really is. He's so humble and kind. He was wearing a Grove 23 hoodie there. I guess that's Michael Jordan's golf course. Yeah, I love spinning out there. Goats with goats. Oh, yeah. We continue. Goodbye. Big day, Shregs. You got it. You got it in there. You got it. I don't think I did. I think so. You got it. It's kind of like the lay of game in the NFL. Zero. The zero really has to hit. It was like the Ravens game. Yep. No, you know what it was like? And we've already forgotten about it. Michigan, Western Michigan. Yeah, of course. Does anybody care about that now? No. No, they got theirs. Bahawa. That last second. Michigan. Touchdown. They got theirs. That is old football justice right there, isn't it? And now we're hitting Iowa on Friday. Boom. Hey, I'm pretty pumped up, H. I'm pretty pumped up about going to Iowa. I'm going to be honest. I would say those people are going to be pretty, you know, all the kids. They're probably ready now. They're probably already out there. What's the spot called again, Ty? Pentecrest. It's right there, and it's the quad for Iowa, I do believe. Yeah, I mean, essentially. You would call it, yeah. It is the quad? That is the actual name. The name is the Pentecrest, but, like, if you were watching, like, a movie. They would say. Like a college. Yeah, that way it would be the quad. Because you're going through the quad. Exactly. To the gymnasium. Bingo. Correct. Every school has got a quad. Now, that is far away from stadium, though? No. No. I'd say it's probably, like, it's, like, maybe, like, a mile walk, a little longer. Like, 15-minute walk. Because there are dorms on the other side of the river that are very close to the stadium. But all of, like, the campus buildings. Where you would, like, go to classes are around where we are. So, no. It's not too bad. Okay. So, Friday, we're there. 11 o'clock local. Noon Eastern. Can't wait to see everybody chit-chat a little bit. Going to have to curtail how that program goes. Should reach out to some local legends. See if they want to swing by. I've got a lot of friends that went to Iowa. Yeah. Now that I'm kind of rattling through them in my head. A lot of people we probably got to tell we're coming to town and we'd like to see them. Yeah, it's been a bit overwhelming for me. I'll be honest. I've gotten, like, 10,000 text messages. Over, like, the last, like, three days. Just like, hey, do you think this guy's going to. Would Pat want him on the show? Would he want him on the show? You know, so. Oh, I like to hear that. That makes life a lot easier. Yeah, exactly. Thank you, whoever's saying that. Right. So, yeah. I think we'll have plenty of options, I think. Yeah, and we're coming right out of AFC North football on the night before. Exactly. Iowa, naturally, Steelers fans because you guys have the same uniforms? I wouldn't necessarily say so, but they also. Bears, Packers fans. Yeah, Vikings, you know, kind of all three. But I would say they definitely respect the Steelers because. Let's go to Hammer. Todd. Todd, how are we going to be on Friday fresh out of the Cleveland Browns-Pittsburgh Steelers game on Thursday night in which the Browns have been very dominant in the past on Thursday nights? We're going to be fresh as a daisy, you know, just eager to get at it and have a great show on Friday is my assumption. No matter what happens on Thursday night because that doesn't control my happiness. Are you sure? Yes. Really? Yes. I don't think that he's being truthful. Yeah, it sounds like a bit of a lie. You don't know me. He just knows we're all going to get fucking tuned up on Thursday night together. And then no matter what, Friday's going to be a great time. I am kind of excited for the lads to be in a city on a Thursday night. It's like the best part. Yeah, we got to figure out what we're doing there. I think there's been a lot of plans kicked around. I thought they had a medieval times. They don't. They do. There are no medieval times. I checked again this morning. They do. Stone says they do. If there's a medieval times, I would like to go see. And Pentatonix. Believe me. Pentatonix is going to be there too. Pentatonix is going to be at the Pentacrest? Yep. Yep. It's how it works. Every Friday or every Thursday night. Yeah. Is there going to be any members from the Pentagon going to be there? How about Penta? Zero Miedo. Oh, that'd be sick. I don't know who that is. Oh, he's Iowa Hawkeyes. George Kittle's favorite wrestler. He is. So you heard Penta and just immediately your brain goes, oh, I wonder if Pentatonix will be there. Yeah. Yeah. I can't remember the show, but when they were on it, it was awesome. Awesome. The voice? No. It was a, it was a acapella show or whatever. I know what you're talking about with Nick Lachey. The singer and I kind of similar white look guy. Skinnier Gary LaVoie. He's got, he's got the high. With the. Yeah. I just know them. They do Christmas music usually, don't they? Yeah. Very well. And they do anything well. Yeah. They're, they're, cause they're beatbox plus singing, right? Yeah. The beatboxers used to have a run. You remember that? I mean, that was like a good run. I saw a video. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I saw a video of Justin Timberlake doing it the other day. Everybody was making fun of him. What? Why? Like for beatboxing or? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. He's had, he's had a rough go these last couple of years. Yeah. But when it was happening in real time, the crowd went crazy. He needs to remember that the crowd went crazy in real time. Cause I don't know if he's being told that right now. Yeah. Definitely not. Kind of a pile on situation. JT's a beatboxer. He was. He was. Yeah. I guess I shouldn't surprise him. Yeah. Unbelievable. He did a whole. They call me. He did a whole. I just. Go find that. You'll find it. It's going to pop up in your album now. Cause I brought it up. So I apologize. You're going to see about a hundred of these things. He used to really, he used to really get in there. They were killing him for it. There's some really talented beatboxers. Biz Marquis. Yeah. He was incredible. Right? Oh yeah. Dougie. Dougie Fresh. Is that the DJ? Are people still doing it? Pentatonix. Sounds like. I guess it's not nearly as prevalent as it used to be. I don't make a comeback. Everything does. Yeah. Super. Wide jeans at the mall. I bought a pair just because actually. Jankos. Yeah. Aeropostale. Oh, perfect. Yeah. It was Aeropostale. It was these big ones. I had them in my JC penny bag walking around the mall. Yep. I mean, I was just having such a good time. Were all the stores open? All of them. Packed. That's wild. I haven't been to the mall without having, you know, 50% of them boarded up. Gump, what town was that? We were just in. It was like 330, Tennessee. There it is. Knoxville. We were in Knoxville, Tennessee. I cannot express how packed Hot Topic was. Wall to wall. Packed. We had to do this number here. We had to do this number here while we were trying to get to the cool t-shirts in the back. Come on. It's that great. Was there a Spencer's Gifts? You know what? Spencer's was great. We didn't do the whole mall. The food court could have been a nightclub. It was unbelievable. They actually had a sports bar round in the middle of it with Sparrow as soon as you walk in. True New York slice. Happy Big Joe got a chance to experience a true New York pizza. He is our slice of pizza. He's a former New York police officer. So he got it. I was excited to buy him a true New York slice. For the first time in his life. It was nice that we got to enjoy that together. I'm telling you, Knoxville, Tennessee, that mall, thank you. That was just like, we're there for what? An hour and a half? Probably just walking around. It was a full day. Just walking around, experiencing it in real time. Then one group noticed we were in there. It's funny how that works out everywhere we go. It's like, oh, now everybody in the city seemingly knows. We had to get out of there pretty quick, which is why we didn't experience the entirety of the mall. There was a little kids' playground area. Mom yelling at kids. It was just like, it was 2002 again. Slide in there, a bunch of kids waiting in line to get on the slide there. It was crazy. There's a sick mall right by where we're staying in the Iowa City area. Is it going to be packed out like the Knoxville mall? The Knoxville mall was packed. That surprises me. I can't remember the last time I even walked in a mall. Random groups of teens. Walking around. Really? It was back in the year in 2004. It really was, yeah. It felt like that. I think I said that like 10 times to Gumpy. I'm like, bro, this was like a lot of my high school life right here. Just walking around a fucking mall. Let's go see. Literally, let's go to the food court and see what type of samples we got here. Used to hit six laps at the Monroeville mall's food court. Get three different samples. That's 18 bites. That's a pretty good little carryover. They have an Orange Julius? I did see an Orange Julius. Triple Berry Blast with the Orange Julius? Oh, yeah. That was my go-to. I did see that. Cinnabon has to be Cinnabon. Cinnabon was in there. Auntie Anne's. It wasn't Auntie Anne's. Oh, it's Auntie Anne's, yeah, true. Cell phone dealer in the middle. Oh, yeah. Working. Picture screen if you need it. I actually, I didn't like the lack of effort from one of the hustlers. I forget what group it was. There was some, it might have been like a little phone case one. Walked by. Three lads, definitely have phones, you know? Not a word was said to us. And I just looked at this guy. I don't fucking make them like they used to Two for one diamond store on the way out, of course. Nice. That was great. Car in there that you could win anywhere. Ooh, there was no big giveaway sign up for a raffle. And there was also no armed forces sign up. Because I did that to a couple of my friends while we were walking to the mall. They follow up with that whole thing. Oh, yeah, big time. Never forget. Couple times. Larman family crying their eyes out. Because you signed them up. What? What? You talked to me to going to war without their parents knowing? True enough. Going to the store? Yeah. I was there. I was there when it was all happened. I knew it was 100% B. I felt terrible. Chris had to answer a lot of questions, you know? Oh, no. Little sister Kelly going, well, Chris going military? I felt terrible. I stopped doing it that day. You know, I felt so bad. But I did sign them up for that. I think they labeled him a deserter. No, no, I did not. They all? Dude, he was very flustered by it all. And I felt terrible. I mean, that's what we used to have to do. I signed my mom up for so many things. I mean, she was. Like what? What would you sign her up for? There was, like, little things you could sign up in. New magazine showing up. Mary Kay? Yep. Oh, yeah. Pyramid schemes? Yeah, whenever somebody's coming to hustle me to get out of that conversation, I clearly just sign people. Yeah, no problem. Bang, boom. Put me in there. Back in the day, no follow-up until there is a follow-up. Right. Then all of a sudden, Chris Lorman can't go to the military because he's got a bad back, so. Saved him. I felt so bad. I just stopped it. That was a real wake-up call for me. That was, like, a month beforehand, too. I mean, that was. I had to really rack my brain on what was going on, and then I had to come out and say, it's on me. Hand out. This whole situation. I just fucked with my daughter like that, my 15-year-old. It was Navy sending something to the house. I was like, oh, man. Got drafted. I was like, I couldn't even keep going. You saw our eyes well up. I was like, oh. All of these reactions are why we have so much respect for the military, by the way. Oh, yeah. Yeah, just, like, that feeling of worst possible outcome is always what some people think of. So to continue to go through that massive respect, on that note, I shouldn't have done what I did first, and I stopped immediately. Funny prank. You learned. I had no idea. I mean, just for the follow-up of that whole thing. Shout-out to them. All right, let's take a break on the other side. We got an offensive line ranking that we need to talk about. We got some situational reporting and some good defense that needs to be chit-chatted about, and we got more headlines that need to be discussed from around the NFL and from college football. Is Jeremiah Smith about to win the Heisman? Sure looks like it. Maybe. Arthur Smith is the offensive coordinator. Mm-hmm. Think about that. Are they related? I think so. Yeah, are they? I'm not 100% sure. I don't want to. Take care of that. Get a FedEx deal. I don't want to say what I'm thinking because anything's possible. Sure. They're both tall. Both wildly alpha. Yeah. Maybe. I was thinking they don't look like but. Jeans are weird. Yeah. Especially nowadays. They're either way too wide or they're way too tight. I can't. It's true. You may go to a boot cut. Well, I started slicing at the bottom, you know, so that I could wear shoes. I got these cowboy boots that are literally the only dress shoes that I have to fit right now. And I got these tight jeans on and the boots just look like they're popping out of the side of it and I got cowboys that point at you like a fucking asshole. So I took scissors to them last time. But I can't be wearing those fucking jeans. I can't fucking. Oh, no. No. They got those everywhere. Yeah, you cannot be wearing those. I can't get into those. Those are what is now, though. I was at the mall. I know. I was at the mall. Oh, yeah. That is. They are everywhere right now. That is not just like a one. You're not just going into Hot Topic finding those pants. Okay? Which you used to be able to. They're always sitting in there somewhere, you know, alongside great graphic tee, fun little mug, bunch of little gimmicks here, some goth stuff in the back corner. I think goth's coming back because of Champagne Poppy, potentially. Really? I think that's going to happen in this whole world. But those jeans are everywhere. Buckle. Walked into Buckle. Also, Affliction jeans still bringing it there. What? Almost bought a pair because I had to. Affliction still has clothes. Oh, yeah. Gumpy almost got a pair, actually. Did you not, Gump? Yeah, there's more diamonds on them than ever. It was incredible. That's true. There was a nice Hasbulla shirt, too. Yeah, that was right in front row. Affliction has gone through inflation, though. A lot more diamonds. Okay. A lot more money. No Ed Hardy, unfortunately. Yeah, Ed Hardy was the big one. I'm sure we could have found him in there somewhere. Vaughn Dutch. Do you guys know about Extreme Motion? No. Well, it's a new style of jeans. I believe Levi or Wranglers have. Oh, wow. Yeah, I've heard of it. I walked into JCPenney and a man with one of the best voices I've ever heard. Well, hello, Mr. McAfee. Welcome to JCPenney. You looking for anything? I go, that's a good voice. You should be doing something with that voice. He goes, thank you. You know, it just continues. I was like, I'm looking for some pants, I think, for tomorrow. Have you seen the Extreme Motions? Okay, walks me back. Walks me, I mean, this is 2002, customer service with a smile and a great voice. Takes me back. Boom. These are the Extreme Motions. You say, these are the best jeans that have been created. They're actually the pair I'm wearing right now. What you see, what they do is they add extra material to this part right here. Okay. Right down here. So you got an extra little flap down in between the thighs. More space where you need it. Oh, wow. Bigger ballroom in the hotel. These are my favorite jeans. If they would have had a pair that I could have fit in, I would have bought them immediately just because of this guy's effort. None my size, so I didn't get a chance to experience them. Quads or waist? Waist. Yeah. Quads are no longer really a problem. I'm not doing much legs anymore or kicking anything. Are you doing legs still? Oh, yeah. You're a psycho. Is that because you got to train these offensive? No, kind of, but also, like, ever since I tore my ACL, if I don't, do anything, like, that knee feels horrible. All right, what are we, we're squatting? Yeah, I still squat. You're putting a bar on your back right now? Yeah. Jesus. Yeah. AJ, are you putting a bar on your back right now? Sometimes I can when I, you know, my knee's not going to fall apart. I will, but yeah, I definitely try to lift legs as much as I can. D-Bud, are you putting a bar on your back? I keep 275 on my squat rack and I just do 20 clips here and there. You guys are all putting bars on your back? JJ just did down in Brazil. I thought we all stopped doing that. We did not stop doing that. No. I like the knees over toe stuff, too. That makes my knees feel good. Yeah. I don't, not a full squat. You're just. Yeah, probably never again. I do Bulgarian split squats. Yeah. You can't ever give those up. Yeah. Rear foot elevated, too? On the Bulgarian? Oh, of course. Put that leg back? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, JJ was doing Russian lifts, Bulgarian lifts, no American lifts down in Brazil. Probably Turkish get up in there. Yeah, in that piss corner. Probably doing that. What did the Americans create? Bench press? Military press. Raw power. That's what we created? Yeah, military press. I assume so. This goes in. It's not just about what you create. It's about how you master everything. Boom. This is for injuries. Going forward. All the way. All sports. Okay. Oh, geez. Big one. All sports. I don't like it. I mean. I did it last week. I called a game where there was 55 entries in the Niners-Cardinals game. Remember, it's not me. It's just the universe. Yeah, true. Of course. Oh, yeah. Jesus. Uh-oh. Is that two air balls? Not even close either. Oh, no. Stay high. Yep, there it is. Injury still. Jeez Louise. Oh, my. Let's get to a break. Back on the other side, we've got a lot to talk about, including what appears to be a devastating weekend of injuries. I don't like that one bit. Not one bit. That ball means nothing. Nothing. And you acting like it does? Disgusting. That's right. I don't like it. I hope you're right. Do you think I was being serious when I said a lot of we talk to Jason Kelsey as he was talking about the Philadelphia Eagles football team? No. No, I didn't think you were being serious. And also, he played for them for 15 years. Why can't he say we? He's the mascot of the Philadelphia Eagles. Right. Yeah. I liked your opening. That was insane. Your opening was awesome today. I'm fucking sick of it. I mean, especially people who get taken out of context and like kind of, you know? I get it. It's like, come on. You got a lot of lying going on out there. I don't get it. I don't need it. I put myself in my own shit. I don't need fucking fake shit. You know what I mean? I don't need that right now. And there's real life repercussions for this entire thing, you know, that I actually have to deal with on the back end and see and experience. So it's like, you know, it's a fun time until it's like not, you know? Getting kirked, you know, is something that has been talked about numerous times now. And it's like there's also like calls happening behind. Like, there's a lot actually happening. So I certainly appreciate it. And everybody that's looking out and also the people that are just feeding that. I appreciate you doing that. Because if not me, then who? You know? And if not now, then when? And I said we about the Chicago Bears fucking right after Jason Kelsey said we about the Eagles. I heard it. Nobody will show. And I think he was a win again. He did. Bears plus three and a half, though. I was, hey, hot bat last weekend against spread. I don't know if you've seen how it ended up. Have you seen how it ended up? No, I know you were killing it before that game. I did. I did. I did pretty good. I did. I did pretty good, which I'm excited about. And you also not terrible. Hey. I flipped back to Chicago at least for that. I was 7-7 and I flipped back to Chicago at the end. I mean, we should be very proud of ourselves right now. Me, I'm proud mostly because I've caught up to you. You've been above 500 now every single week picking against the spread. That's not easy at all. You've been seeing it very good. Now, 10 and 5 is the new standard for me. Yep. Okay. For all of us. This is every week. We need to be doing this. Now, on that note, 12 one-score games this past Sunday. Nuts. Every one of these bets could have went the other way at any given moment, which is why we all need to gamble responsibly. That's right. Okay? Let's remember that. Let's not be putting our houses up on anything. Especially you, AJ. I know you've been getting a little irresponsible with your thoughts because of how good you've been seeing it. I need you to remain responsible. And not ruin it for all of us, okay? I get it. But is it our job to hold other people accountable that are adults? Yes, it actually is. Rangers that we don't know? From my understanding, yes. It is very much our. You've got to warn them. You've got to let them know the pitfalls of the situation. And then, hey, go be you. I would just like us to, you know, just be very comfortable saying to other people, like, hey, just responsibly bet on. Something. Yeah. Like yesterday, I see the Florida Panthers watching Carolina Hurricanes do their entire thing for 20 minutes. And I say to myself, I'm going to responsibly max unit the Florida Panthers to win this game. There you go. Now, it took all the way to the final seconds of overtime for that to happen. But this one felt good. And I thought to myself, I'm happy. I responsibly max unit it, which is a responsible number, the Florida Panthers in that time. Now, could they have tied this and lost this very easily? Yep. And would I have? I felt terrible, certainly. But I wouldn't have been at my entire bankroll because I was responsible about it. That's right. We all need to do that, especially you, AQ. That's right. I'm always responsible. I got a lot of mouths to feed. I love your family, by the way. Hey, he might have one in the soccer world. He might actually have one. I remember him talking about her a while ago when he was giving me a ride out in Arizona. Yeah, she sounds like she's a stud. Yes. Another good weekend. 3-0, won the championship, beat a team from Vegas. Quarter goal. Let's go. Here we go. They're playing teams from, like, Washington. How old is she? Eight. And they played up. They played in the U-10 bracket. And won? And won. Damn. Wow. That checks some birth certificates on that. No kidding. Seems like we're going to have to see some. A couple of these girls driving to the game. We're going to have to see some of that. Those are the good old days. Those are the good old days of, like, youth sports. Need a fucking, what's the birthday on this kid? Yeah, right. Just so rude. Kid just sitting there taking it the entire time. I guess I'm not welcomed here. It's like, you're a big motherfucker, buddy. You're a big motherfucker. Freddie Adu showed up at one of the soccer tournaments. Bethesda, Maryland. Playing against me and my team. We're all very flustered about how we're all the same age. He certainly did not feel or appear that way. How much older was he? I don't know. They never got to. He was, I don't think they ever, like, he was literally, I think, ran away from home. And then found. It's, like, not his fault at all, either. And I don't think they actually ever known. But as soon as he got put on the field with us, I think it was all. This kid's not our age. Far older. Holy shit. And he was, he was talking the whole time, too. I mean, he was like, watch this. What? Like. We had a kid named Mitch Minard. He went to Upper St. Clair in Pittsburgh. He was a big kid. He was a big defender for our age. And it was, like, him and Freddie, like, battling. And it was, it was like a heavyweight fight. It was, like, a real thing. And inevitably, Freddie had that left foot. He did a couple of those. Hit a free kick on us, I think. Looked like Messi. Put one in. It's like, god damn. That was a free kick taker for our team. It never gonna look like that, boys. I apologize. Put one over the net. He goes back the other side. Right in. It's like, this guy's the guy. Then he got super famous after that weekend. And then everybody said he was way too old. And then inevitably, he could have been the guy who saved America. Soccer. And he kind of got burned out, I think. Yeah. Never. He would have been. He would have been, though. Yeah. Kevin Sullivan now doing it. Our young lads are winning right now, right? Our soccer team's good? Yeah. Kevin Sullivan went on an unbelievable run down the wing. But there was a 17-year-old kid, actually youngest kid to score. Who's that? It was Chili last night. What? That wasn't me. Who was it? I don't like the way he was interrupted while he was talking about a 91st minute run down the sideline. It was Ty. It was Ty. 17 years, 140 days old. Albert scored for USA. There was a dust-up at the end of the game as well. And who won the dust-up? It was pretty good. Chris Richards was fired up. He scored as well. He said, this is, we stand on business around here. It was an entertaining match. 4-2. Who'd they play? Chili. We fucking better be Chili. Chili. We better be Chili. Chili's a good team. Here's the dust-up right here. Chris Richards saying, hey, listen up, little fella. Oh, bitch. Did you see that? You saw that? Yeah. Quite the dust-up. Quite the dust-up. Quite the dust-up. Quite the dust-up. 20-30 yet? Kevin Sullivan went on a run down the lane. The NFL decent's here. The MLB playoffs. The World Cup's not for another six fucking years. Who gives a shit? By the time, like, I understand. Okay. Kevin Sullivan's 17. He's going to be fucking 23 the next time we're in the World Cup. We got the Gold Cup this summer. There's not going to be anything else to watch. I'll get there when we get to the Gold Cup. I don't give a fuck about international friendlies during football season, during college football season, during the playoffs. Punch. There he is. What, Punch Pochettino? You don't believe in Punch? I do, but I don't fucking care. Why should we believe in Punch, by the way? He's got a young group here. He's playing his young group. Okay. He sent Polithic out for this one. Sat all the old dogs. Chris Richards is in there. He's young. Obviously, he plays overseas. We got 17-year-olds, 18-year-olds, 19-year-olds in here. Punch is trying to shape our actual next team. No doubt. No doubt. I don't think we should be completely out on it yet. Well, hopefully, for our next draw, we get Lichtenstein in our group three times because that's what it's going to take. And then we'll play a team like Belgium or Colombia, and we'll get our fucking asses kicked in the knockout stages. And until we don't do that, I'm not doing the same thing that I've done for the last, well, really, every World Cup of my lifetime. USA's the best team in the world. We're going to do it. We're going to do it this time. And then we play a bunch of fucking slapdick countries, who we have beat the fucking shit out of them. And I guess they did. They beat Germany, right? This Germany team fucking sucked this year. They stunk. Who cares? We got our asses kicked. I was so embarrassed with how invested I was in that. I was flying. I think I was flying back to, like, Massachusetts, watching that fucking soccer. I had the soccer tarp on, too. I said, I will never be caught doing this shit again, ever fucking again, wearing a fucking USA tarp. on the plane watching the game. I'm sitting there, we're getting beat fucking five times. one. I look like the biggest asshole on the face of the earth. There's got to be some fucking new movies on this flight or some recently released movies that I could have watched. I'm not doing it. Can't win with it. Can't win with them. Well, I think Ponch is trying to find guys he can win with. I love Ponch. I just don't fucking care at all. Alright, we won't talk about it. I would rather watch the Savannah Bananas 100 days of the week than watch anything related to our international soccer club right now. Alright. Alright, we're done talking. We'll dump all that. To the Gold Cup. We're all waiting for that Gold Cup. This summer. I think we won the Gold Cup before, right? Have we not won? What the hell is the Gold Cup? How often do they play? It has Rainbow Road in it. I think it has Rainbow Road in it. It has the castle. Bowser's Castle. It has Bowser's Castle in it and it also has I think it's just like us, Jamaica and Cuba, right? And they each play each other like a hundred times. Mexico. Mexico won the last one. I did think it was the Flower Cup. It's the Gold Cup. It's the Gold Cup. It's the most prestigious cup there is. Outside of the World Cup. But it's close. It's close. Outside of the MLS Cup. No. We've been down this road. Did you see Messi last night? Yeah, I did. Fucking, I was playing goalie out there. Guy fucking had his thumb up his ass. Just waiting. I mean, and Messi's unbelievable but the MLS fucking stinks. Gumpy knows. And Papi Boenga hasn't done what I expected him to do. What I was promised he would do. Remember you were gonna follow along with Premier League songs? Yeah. Yeah. What an insane thought. Holland's about to be playing in the 5th Division. Yeah, Manchester City just got charged with 195 crimes. I saw that. How many was it? 115. Guilty on all since 2009 to now. Okay, so they've been doing a 17-year investigation and they found 115 different things that they were not allowed to do? Yeah, they basically were hiding $950 million and paying players off the books. Pep Guardiola also left at the end of last season, so. He knew. Yeah, and everything went to shit, huh? When did he take the job? Interesting. Pep? Yeah. After 2009 was when Man City really started spending, but I think he was there for five years. So he leaves, he gets there in 2021. 2020. So this happened before Pep got there. Because the way Gumpy was spending it, you know, and I think he likes Pep, right? Don't you like Pep? Yeah, I'm a big fan. He said they paid Pep. Quite an honor to wait until he left to kind of drop this on him. Is that real? Like they just waited for Pep to leave before they dropped it? Because Manchester City's owners artificially inflated the club's commercial revenue by $830 million between 2009 and 2018. The Independent Commission found during the Premier League hearing into the 115 charges for serious financial breaches. The Abu Dhabi owned club were found guilty of all 115 charges by the commission with Premier League CEO Richard Masters. They say Dick Masters Ed Dick Masters doesn't fuck around. He's gonna fuck him. Yeah. And he did saying City systematically broke Premier League's rules for nearly a decade. Not cheating, you're not trying. And there's, they usually these get dragged out because of appeals. The Premier League has said you got three days to appeal. Like this is getting done. So basically the EFL who runs the leagues after the Premier League, they own them all. They're gonna stand with the Premier League. So if Man City get kicked out of the Prem, they're not going to those lower leagues. They're going straight to the fifth division. See you later, brother. Aren't you a Man City fan? I am. You guys have been cheating all the time. I just, I you mentioned Pep. That's, that's when I started to really like them because there was an all or nothing. Oh, they're hiding money with that one. On Prime. Yeah, on Prime. It was 2020. It was COVID. I was stuck in my house. I watched that. I was like, this guy's electric. And then all of a sudden they got this De Bruyne guy. They got this Holland guy. They got, I mean, they they're unbelievable. They're unbelievable. Is my skip safe Gump? Uh, he'll be fine. But he was there for some of it. So, you know, there's only one gaffer who's really clean in this who's good. And that's Juergen Klopp, Liverpool legend, of course. Of course. Well, Ponch Tina too. Yeah, Ponch Tina. Yeah, Mo Ponch. Ponch actually is probably owed some medals from when he coached at Tottenham. No doubt. That's what I've been saying. Exactly. So he's going to be motivated to win the Gold Cup and then the Flower Cup and then the World Cup. That's right. On the other side, we'll wrap up all the headlines. We won't. We'll dump all that. Okay. Please do. Because, you know, that was just kind of like, hey, we got a bunch of other stuff going on. Like, why the fuck would I care about soccer right now? But I don't mean that. We beat the Chicago Fire last night. That's who we played. It was Chile. But CHI, I saw. Oh, same fucking difference. Chile, I assume, sucks at soccer. They do. Yeah. Do we know that? No, no, not at all. We don't ever play a team that's any good. And when we do, we get our asses kicked. So did they make the World Cup? I don't think so. This room that we're in right now, that's what I'm not going to get that answer. You're probably right. I don't believe Chile was there. I remember. Neither was Italy. That's a good point. Yeah, well, we know. They suck, too. USA Soccer's young. It looks like they got dogs across the board. And I think there's a chance we get Lou Messi next World Cup, right? Is that still on the table, Gumpy? He's got his last match coming up with Argentina. He's retiring from international soccer. From Argentina international soccer. Because Tim Rehm did. He said, you know what? I'm going to follow Remo's lead here. Remo got a big send-off over there in St. Louis. He did. Happy for him. He got a chance to meet him. He had a lot of pressure on his shoulders. He did. Great pony. And he never had a chance. We should have known that. Never. All right, we'll dump all that. No more soccer talk. Okay. Thank fuck. You sure? AJ, if you have anything to say, maybe. No, I was hoping it would become a daily seg. For sure. For me, you all have been unbelievable. Oh, yeah. Yeah, see, and that's the other difference. Like, they have 17-year-olds in other countries who are playing at the highest level, dominating in the World Cup. And our 17-year-old is playing against fucking Chile. It's just hard to get excited. Yamal hasn't lost in 172 days. Playing against the New England Rebs, too. Oh, that's a good program. Lamin, Yamal has not lost in 172 days? Yeah, with Barcelona and Spain. The kid is unstoppable. And he's how tall? Like, he would be a D-end if he was born in America? Or a wide receiver? I don't know how tall he is. Or a tight end? Is he that big? He's not that tall. You don't look Lamin, is he? I think he's tall. I thought he was like a hair over Messi. No, from my understanding, I think he is taller. I would have thought like 6-foot-ish. 5'10". Never mind. He's around a bunch of small guys. Jeez, I thought he was tall. Because I see him cook little fellas. Can he get them fucking braces off? He's 12 years old. Almost. He's still in high school. No, he's still in high school. Guys fucking making $80 million a year just get all new teeth. I'm tired of seeing his fucking braces. I'm tired of it. He's trying to get it figured out. I guess. You're not going to see him for another three years. God willing. Next World Cup's going to all be on at 2 and 3 a.m. too. Oh yeah, you're right. So it'll be seven years. Let's go. Oh no, then it comes back to here. Where's it at? It's in Italy next time? Portugal and Spain. And then I believe it comes back to the U.S. Weren't they flipping that around because it was so good this year? They were trying to do a switch, a roof. Yeah, the head though, remember? Oh yeah, he's a fucking big corrupt bastard. Yeah, all talk. Infantino. He's still on the hot seat. That song is not over yet. Aren't they talking about death penalty for him? Like business-wise, corruption? No, like death by firing squad. No, I think they are talking business. They're talking about never be seen again. Misconstrued there. Yeah, but I think he's made a lot of deals for future times if he's not the head of FIFA. I believe so. I think that is what they're saying, alleging. How's the whole Dodgers thing going? Has that guy found the money yet? Remember that whole thing? Yeah, I think they're just going to let that go. That kind of is what it seems like. Just like no one cares. Unless the Dodgers win the World Series this year, then they'll be like, wait a minute, this fucking guy can't do this. So the government said all good, bro. Way to build a super team out in LA? I think so. I think they're just like, hey, cut us a check from what you got. Bruce, what's the update on that entire thing? The government says it's all good for $15, $16, $17, $20 billion, whatever it was that he owed by the end of the year. Remember that? Yeah, so he had to liquidate by the end of the year, and that's why people thought he might have to sell the Dodgers to get there. We'll see if he does, but I do. I do not think that the charges have been dropped or that everything's on the up and up. He has sold his F1 team, which we know is a big deal. That's huge. Which team? Front Office Sports is reporting that Cadillac F1, based here in Indianapolis, Indiana, and has zero points after 15 races. Mark Walter continues to sell off his sports empire amid a federal fraud investigation. If he can't find a top 10 finish with the remaining races, Cadillac would become the first team since 2021 to finish without points. Sounds like the fucking movie. It does a little bit. Here comes Brad Pitt. He needs Sonny. He needs Sonny. Zero points. Is this like linebacker 42 plays, zero stats type stuff? Nah, it's a tough league. You're just starting outside the top 10, I would assume, every race. Is that why? Yeah, they're starting in the back of the grid. And then he can't pass. You're not, yeah. It's single file. It's not single file. It's tough. Oh, he's going to pit. Me too. That's not it. There's a couple. That's what happens, right? Nope. Not even close. That was a whole race, right? I think the last race finish, it was like point, I don't know, a hundredth of a second. Oh, that's because it's Barry End. They're racing. They're rubbing and racing. Way to go. I don't know what they say. Remember old buddy was supposed to just let that guy win oh yeah yeah that no team no hey remember do the right thing here you what what accent was that it was a mixture of f1 accent there's like a balkan region ish english yep spanish italian i think you could have found russian in there if you would have been looking for check bingo another another soviet descent yeah how's everything going over there i haven't heard much hope everybody's all right all right let's get to a break remember football season is happening that's right we are for norco no cause foreign or domestic that hasn't really worked out no maybe you should start getting for more causes yeah la are there any other things you want to say about the game yeah i think the game is going to be a little bit more interesting i think the game is going to be a little bit more interesting i think the game is going to be a little bit more interesting i think the game is going to be a little bit more interesting i think the game is going to be more causes la covers all the causes la covers all the causes la covers all the causes they've got plenty going on over there i they've got plenty going on over there i they've got plenty going on over there i agree but jim harbaugh said he's for no agree but jim harbaugh said he's for no agree but jim harbaugh said he's for no causes foreign or domestic other than the causes foreign or domestic other than the causes foreign or domestic other than the los angeles chargers i'm starting to los angeles chargers i'm starting to los angeles chargers i'm starting to think harbaugh actually i won't say that think harbaugh actually i won't say that think harbaugh actually i won't say that all right let's get to a break all right let's get to a break all right let's get to a break i'm happy you had a little restraint he i'm happy you had a little restraint he i'm happy you had a little restraint he comes goes for the putter throw comes goes for the putter throw comes goes for the putter throw restrains himself exactly comes on the restrains himself exactly comes on the restrains himself exactly comes on the program friend of the program friend of program friend of the program friend of program friend of the program the program friend of the program the program friend of the program terrible start good pizza terrible start good pizza terrible start good pizza great great maybe too good too much great great maybe too good too much great maybe too good too much pizza too much ice cream too much pizza too pizza too much ice cream too much pizza too pizza too much ice cream too much pizza too much golf sim yep much golf sim yep much golf sim yep are they in the are they in the are they in the we will debut our shite division on the we will debut our shite division on the we will debut our shite division on the other side yes let's get to a break on other side yes let's get to a break on other side yes let's get to a break on the other side the other side the other side who are the worst four in the best league who are the worst four in the best league who are the worst four in the best league in the world who are the top five in the world who are the top five in the world who are the top five offensive lines coming out of week three offensive lines coming out of week three of the nfl season of the nfl season of the nfl season where's the situational report diving where's the situational report diving where's the situational report diving into into into is there any good d around i'm looking is there any good d around i'm looking is there any good d around i'm looking around i don't know i don't think so not here i don't think so not here i don't think so not here something here it's lucky something here it's lucky something here it's lucky only bad d today no there's good d on only bad d today no there's good d on only bad d today no there's good d on the film i was just talking about the film i was just talking about the film i was just talking about yeah those extended pants too yeah those extended pants too yeah those extended pants too stream motion jeez dude i didn't know stream motion jeez dude i didn't know stream motion jeez dude i didn't know you guys talking about that you guys talking about that you guys talking about that i think that might have been what that i think that might have been what that i think that might have been what that guy was trying to tell me actually no guy was trying to tell me actually no guy was trying to tell me actually no yeah my big old dong i need these yeah my big old dong i need these yeah my big old dong i need these that's what he told you that's a great that's what he told you that's a great that's what he told you that's a great like selling point too i know i assume like selling point too i know i assume like selling point too i know i assume you got big old dog here you go get Get three pairs. That is a good salesman. Now that I'm looking back on it, that's definitely what he was saying. He came up, I don't need those. We're in the regular jeans. Yeah, who says I don't need them? No one's telling him I don't need them. Give you a little extra space where you need it. You know, a little bit more ballroom in the lobby. Great voice. He was definitely telling me, maybe, I don't know, just looking at you, just want to give you a heads up. There are options to let that thing a little bit more comfortable. Like me. This is what I'm wearing right now, the only thing I can wear these days. A little extra space down here. I didn't even think about that angle, AJ. Man, I wish I would have told you that on Friday when I was with the guy so I could do a couple follow-ups. Sir, was that a compliment? Because I saw you didn't say it to Gumpy. What's that all about? Gumpy, that's fucked up, dude. I wasn't looking for jeans. I clearly told him that. He looked at me and said, if I was looking for jeans, I had the extreme motion I would need as well. I appreciate that, Gumps. Gumps, what's that, 2001 collection you got on? 2001, yeah, 25th anniversary. The anniversary of Miami Hurricanes winning the Natty, so they released all these tarps that just came out. Probably the last thing Adidas will do with Miami because they signed that deal with Nike. Very loud, very awesome. Walking around the Thunderdome this morning. Yes. How do you feel about the Miami Hurricanes? Big one against Clemson on Saturday. Everybody seems to think Clemson has a chance, so we remember what Dabo did to us when we weren't very good, so we'll see how it goes in Death Valley there. We? Can't be doing that. Can't be saying we. They cut the chain, dude. I remember. They beat the shit out of us and cut the chain in the locker room. We remember Dabo. Do you hear what else has happened in that realm of things in football? The Houston Texans mascot, Toro, ripped the terrible towel. Yeah, you just can't do that. And they have not won since. Crazy. Let's go to Hammer. Don, Don. Is that the accurate stat there? Texans Toro, who we are a fan of, might have put the Houston Texans behind the eight ball with football justice tone. Is that accurate with the terrible towel tear? Yeah, that piece of shit made a big mistake. It's a tale of all the time. It was started in the early days with TJ Hushmanzada. They lost in the playoffs. They lost their minds, won that playoff game. I mean, teams have done it, and they reap what they sow every single time, but no one ever learns, do they? No, they don't. Here's the video right here of Texans Toro. Oh, jeez. Oh, yeah, you can't be doing that. How do you do that? 30 to 6, too. What an ass beating. He's probably feeling himself so much. He was all horned up. Yeah. Yep. Yeah, he was all horned up right there. He's strong. Yeah, he was. He's strong. Did he get it fully even ripped? He was gimmicked. I think, did he? Rest in peace to me, I guess. Do you think he, how big was the original tear there, you think? Huge. Like the Hulkster shirt to get the- Well, the Hulkster never had any tear. No, he did not. He was just so goddamn strong with those 26-inch pythons. I don't, I don't, I would assume there's a pretty big rip in there for that guy. If I were Toro, I wouldn't bungee jump into the stadium or anything like that. You don't want to test. I think he did, didn't he? No, I wouldn't have. I think so. Somebody did. It might've been Toro. I saw either Poe or Bill or William, one of the, whatever the Ravens mascot name is now. Poe. Edgar. Edgar Allen Poe. They had three of them. I think it was him. Not William. Huh? He said William, didn't he? Yeah, he was wrong four times in there. Classic. It's not true. Quote the Raven evermore, Edgar Allen Poe. Yeah. Is that what all three of them named after? Yeah. Yeah. Oh, I didn't know that. Cool. Look at that. We're getting to the bottom of it. Learn something every day. That's a bad move. Tearing the terrible towel, though. Yeah. Myron Cope sees all. Yoy. Double yoy. Rest in peace. Let's have a moment of silence for Myron Cope. He was on the call for Pittsburgh Steelers games. He was a little fella, but he had big emotion. A.Q. Shipley would hear him say, Yoy. Yoy. Yoy. Yoy. Double yoy. And then. Immaculate reception. Sound just like. Wow. Just closed my eyes. It took me back in time. It was like I was at Hot Topic in 2002. Listening to Myron Cope talk about Cordell Stewart, and I think he's the first one to call him. Slash. And then there was an. I don't know. I don't know. Irish quarterback that led the Pittsburgh Steelers all the way to the Super Bowl. His name was. Neil O'Donnell. He fucking blew it. Okay. All right. This is not what Myron Cope would say. Jeez Louise. Rest in peace, Myron Cope. Thank you for all your inspiration all these years. And shout out to him still hovering above. He was the creator of the Terrible Towel. Yep. To raise money. Now it's obviously a sign of yinzers everywhere that they are from Pittsburgh. And anytime you mess with it, normally ends up being bad for you. Because Myron Cope will come through there and say, Yoy. And double yoy. Nailed it. Pretty good. Unbelievable. Anything you missed in there from Hammer? Dot. Dot. No, he nailed it. It's absolutely perfect. Myron Cope did like to have a little bit of a good time and then cruise home. Oh. Shut up. Just like times are different. Yeah. Back when you can do it. He shouldn't have, but it was certainly much more accepted. Now we live in a different world. We live in a different time where everybody understands. Those were Pittsburgh cars. They were made of steel that wouldn't be crushed. That's not true at all. They would flip though. Okay. So. All right. We love Myron. Wear your seatbelt. All right. Town, great job. Thank you, too. Who do you think? Nope. All right. No, no, go ahead. No, no, no. Let's just get out of here. Goodbye. I think you're showcasing every day that you can be dropped into a situation it's very difficult and execute that i think you and mitch should take that a long way in your lives just saying hey we were tasked with something very important in a very important time of year for uh our entire program our operation and obviously the families that are developing around our entire uh business everything like that but also i think we're all realizing in real time foxy's really good at what he does yes he is foxy we miss you buddy hope you're great good very far okay but you guys have been doing great back there boys this third hour is going to be the best one we have that's aj hawk talks today was here at boss connor and ty schmidt nine-year nfl vet darius j brother's going to explain some good d in a little bit aq shipley is going to get to the top five offensive lines coming out of week three of the nfl season here in a matter of moments we started this a couple weeks ago we didn't know how long it would last it's become one of our favorite things now to figure out it's not easy what is the scale what is the judgment is it just off of this week or is it over the entirety of the season thus far i think it's a little bit of both rankings from the top to the bottom do mean something it's time ladies and gentlemen for i don't yeah geez yeah geez at least i just refreshed it yeah okay all right let's just make sure we almost gave the whole thing away right there we almost gave the entire thing away which which i'm very happy for okay sorry ladies and gentlemen this is week two shite division uh if you do recall the afc nfc shite division is a division that we have created you can get relegated from or promoted out of you don't live in this forever unless you are absolute shite from the top to the bottom last week this is who we saw in the shite division the atlanta falcons worst team in bowl we thought miami dolphins right behind them chargers what the hell and then the buccaneers lost to the browns the browns were the worst team in the shite division the week before that meant you were automatically into the shite division in our eyes this week boy do we have a good group i think some folks are going to be surprised and impressed by this week's shite division i think some fan bases are going to say we're going to live in here forever probably the first team the worst team in the entire nfl in the afc nfc shite division is congratulations to the tennessee titans wow now this team has been ass okay certainly for a while we love the people of nashville we love the titans uniforms we love what cam war did for miami i think we like dayball i think we like salah feels like there's a lot to like down there except for how they play football this team is the worst team in ball now their point differential isn't the worst because they have salah on the defensive side so they can at least keep some of these games close the eagles could have won by a thousand if they would have played a good football game instead it came down to a last-minute drive obviously the giants win in a very close one and you think to yourself well the titans are in it the titans are in it the titans are in it but they're not because they're the titans and that's why they're at the top of the shite division until we see anything else cam ward they're going to be chit-chatting about him a lot very loudly i think if they uh don't start winning some games aj yeah i would say he needs to uh you know put his foot on the gas and play well and just win some football games you know he definitely has streaks where he plays well but they need to win some games because you're right like people get loud no matter what nfl city you're in it gets loud around you if you're the qb you're not winning cam ward has a lot of moxie he has a lot of personality he uh has a lot of talent he is a guy that we believe to potentially be a franchise qb but it does not look like that in tennessee and you just said what the there because he's casual out there he's really comfortable he just can't be ass and then have that happen can't be do that doing that especially if you're a quarterback and look if you're in the team you can't be doing like that putting it on film and that was one thing even coming out of college it was like sense of urgency that's what you need you know as a pro and definitely as a quarterback so yeah you're calm cool and collected back there in the pocket this i think this is this is no it's in the goofball behavior when you are 0 for t yeah but he's got his he's saying now they're 3-0 which they were close to school i mean one score games there are a couple of them but i think in his mind he said i'm just gonna be me out there the winds will start coming they better hope because it's getting loud and they're atop the shite division as a completely defeated squad down there in nashville tennessee speaking of congratulations miami dolphins wow nope what's that i put on a note they played all undefeated teams i do agree that uh their competition and their strength of schedule was certainly taken into account all undefeated teams have beaten them but all we've seen is them loose so they are completely dove-feated they're in there let's go back to one half of the hammer died cowboys bubble gumpino how do you feel about the miami dolphins on the shite list once again i mean we deserve to be up there oh and three play another undefeated team this week in the vikings so that'll be four straight under but our rookies played well jacob rodriguez we talked about he had an interception against mahomes chris bell was our top wide receiver the cornerback chris johnson we took out of san diego state looks unreal and the proctologist actually looked pretty good on the ollie gordon touchdown so things are looking up well no they're not looking up actually we lost our best player for the season yeah but the rookies are playing well for the future is what gumpy's saying but the future with a chan would certainly be better than without him he has to come back from a torn acl god's speed to him obviously any season-ending injury especially this early is a tough mental situation on that note let's remember dolphins fans can get promoted out of the shite division that's right just as much as you're in the shite division this week you could be out of it next week speaking of being in it maybe forever which we could have never seen the odds of this team being in the shite division so often had to be plus 250 000. yeah longest for sure congratulations to the los angeles charger still finding home here in the shite division yikes aj how do you feel about the chargers being in the shite division we could have never expected this with all the offseason hubbub we'll say yeah i mean i don't know should we be clapping and congratulating these teams for being in this division it feels kind of weird it is an accomplishment it's both it was a spattering of claps there not as much kind of excitement as i could have expected but i mean five turnovers a plus four turnover margin and still losing a game that's pretty shitey i mean that's a pretty shitey thing to look at yeah i mean it is a pretty shitey thing to look at i mean it's a pretty shitey thing to look at lose in spite of all statistics that have basically been counted since the beginning of time so that's why the chargers are in the shite division because it feels like they shouldn't be as shitey as they are but they are super shitey so it almost makes them a shite unicorn yeah and how could you have a shite division without a shite anomaly you know what i mean con man yeah exactly and to be completely honest with you we might we might be crowning our shite division champions pretty soon here because as we know the charger schedule only gets tougher and it's only going to get worse before it gets better i'm not so sure we are looking at the early favorite for the nfl super shite bowl that they will participate in we will have a shite bowl at the end of the season uh two of the teams that have been on the shite division for a while will have to win the division title yeah we'll figure out how we find the champion of the shite division who's the absolute worst we do know a team snuck in here this week whoa they snuck alarming as well here with the amount of money that's been paid and extensions that have been given at pretty important positions and how super genius they were for a while but it was hard to get past what happened on thursday night ladies and gentlemen welcome to the shite division the green bay packers wow not as much clapping this time around aj even refused to kind of put the hands together ty i saw you smacking your hands a little bit at least you're somewhere is that what you're talking about yeah rightfully so uh well earned you know well earned they they did what they had to do to make sure they were going to find themselves in the shite division and you know we'll see uh they just signed three veteran offensive linemen who weren't on teams currently and all three of those guys might be starting sunday in tampa bay so if that doesn't stamp shite right on your forehead i don't know what does so maybe things will get better maybe they won't but uh we're gonna find out pretty soon connor a lot of conversation about drake may not being able to play quarterback good not in the shite division though your thoughts on these four obviously worse than the top three down to the bottom sneaking in with the packers your thoughts yeah i think it just kind of displays anybody can get it you know you mentioned the chargers probably plus 250 000 to be in the shite division i thought the packers in that same boat probably couldn't see this coming titans and dolphins hey look browns were just at the top of the shite division where are they falcons were just at the top of the shite division where are they so if you're the titans of the dolphins all it takes is one week and granted neither of those teams have covered once i don't think actually the titans covered against eagles dolphins are o and three against the spread if you just show us something you might even get out of the shite division okay it's not just hey we gotta go out there and win go out there and perform just do something right and you can still have hope for your season congratulations these four teams all right aj it doesn't seem like you're as pumped for these guys as we are i mean you just you cannot get beat by a team that is currently in the shite division because that will put you square in there yes now the packers get a win not going to be judged as harshly as they're going to get a win but they're going to get a win not going to be judged as harshly as if the titans beat you like the browns beat the bucks bucks ended up in the shite division because of that now dislocated thumb for the bucks well they call the shite division home for a while i i mean there's a chance there's a chance any of these four teams take up these slots for the rest of the season and maybe we stop the shite division because we all know who it is but this feels like this is a little bit of a carousel where there's teams coming and going especially early on deep yeah it is this is week to week but we start to figure it out and i don't know how the bucks didn't end up in the shite division this week oh and three they're starting a rookie quarterback now so i'm sure you guys are favored by at least well that's the thing so not in the shite division this week they play the packers on sunday at home the packers are only three and a half point favorites with undrafted rookie quarterback Jalen Daniels at the helm. So, I mean, we'll see. We'll see what happens. But it looks like loser of that game might find themselves atop the shite division maybe. We'll see. Who knows? That title belongs to the Tennessee Titans for at least another week. If you got this right first, you will win a signed something from the Thunderdome. Yes. Could be this lacrosse ball. That's right. Is this a lacrosse ball? Mm-hmm. Could be a lacrosse ball right here. Okay. Could be, no, I'm not going to give away Coop. I'm not going to give away Coop. That doo-doo coffee. This is do-do. Doo-doo, doo-doo coffee. This is doo-doo coffee. Remember, I ate this all in a year. Yes, yeah. Yeah, not that bag. You've been through like 14 of those bags. I eat them all, yeah. Could be this roll of tape. Ooh. That's pretty good. That'd be a good one. There's also maybe a flag football from the NFL that could get signed in there, sent to you. Maybe. So if you got it right, congrats. If you got it right first, you could potentially win. Now, speaking of getting things right first, let's dive into something that needs to be investigated a little bit. A man put on a suit, took a picture, and said, I'm professional and classy. And he certainly was just that. It's time for D-Butt's situational rapport. Yeah, D-Butt. Hi, D-Butt. What's the sit-rep on this week? You look incredibly professional. I appreciate that. The sit-rep this week is about a superstar that came back, made his debut. Brock Bowers out there in Los Angeles. Vegas with Kirk Cousins as his quarterback. And he's been dialing up. So what we're going to see is how do they deploy 89? Sometimes he's in line. Sometimes he's in slot. Sometimes he's out wide. So let's watch right here. Up right now, he's top right here. We're going to have a zone coverage. So middle of the field safety, that flat defender, Justin Reed. You're trying to come down and just play it outside in, read the quarterback, break on intentions. Kind of runs into a little traffic issue there. If you're a receiver, you're a tight end, just find the window, find the hole. Your quarterback will find you. Get up the field. Get it easy. Get it easy. Kirk's down. That's the first target we're going to have here. He got targeted 13 times. Came away with 10 catches. This is the next one. Third and eight. Money down. Now you isolate him up top. Nope. Motion him down. Get him in a stack. And he's going to be isolated one-on-one with this slot defender. This is a safety. Typically, tight end safety. It's a good matchup for the defense, especially if you have an athletic safety. Not with Brock Bowers. Great option right here. Eat, eat. Create some space. Crosses his face. Converts the third down. That is an absolute nightmare for corners, for linebackers, for safeties. And that's what we're going to see. Now on this one, you're going to see him actually matched up with a corner. Once again, isolated X receiver, basically. Bottom of the numbers. You got the middle of the field safety, so you know you're going to have one-on-one coverage. We're going to pause it here. Boom. You send in five, so you only have six in coverage. The five defenders are all inside the hash on the other way, so it's a complete isolation. You just have a press-out route with Brock Bowers against a corner. Once again, great matchup. Typically, week in and week out for defenses. Not there. Another big third and eight, third down conversion there. Moving on. Brock Bowers, once again, isolated. Now the Raiders, they do their job isolating him pre-snap. You put four away from him to make sure you get this isolation pre-snap. It's going to be a middle of the field safety once again, so a one-on-one coverage. Again, with a cornerback. What are we going to run? Not a slant. Not an out. Let's go down the field and just throw a back shoulder fade to what some people call the best tight end in the league. Now McBride has had that title, but Brock Bowers, he's been a superstar since stepping foot in Athens. You see him now on the slot. Now there's some play calling. There's some little creativity. Get the guy open. Don't make him do the hard work. Now you have Jalen Naylor outside as the number one receiver. He's going to clear some space. We call it setting the pick. Create a little traffic issue there. Brock Bowers stems it up, breaks out, balls on him. You got to fight a little bit to get across the goal line. Safety does the best job he can do to try to stop him, but he does not. So you got an absolute superstar. Returned to a team that found a way to win two games without him, but now getting Brock Bowers right in the fold. Clint Kubiak. Carr. Not Carr. Shit. Kirk Cousins has been cooking three touchdowns every week. So just absolutely dynamic. And not only Brock Bowers, Mayer, who they paid the other tight end, he's been doing well also. 81% of their snaps from that game had at least two tight ends on the field. Michael Wright from Notre Dame, the tight end that got paid like $40 million or something. Yeah, three years. A good amount of money, I believe, which is crazy because Brock Bowers is on there. Obviously, Kubiak said, we're going to go big body. I love they got four on one side. Let's see. Let's just see if they'll let you go one-on-one out here. That's all he's doing right there is just trying to get Brock Bowers one-on-one. And Kirk Cousins knows immediately if it's anything like one-on-one, we're going to this freak that we have out here. Absolutely. And once again, whatever the matchup, it's kind of like Gronk was, Prime, Kelsey, whoever is matched up on that guy, it's a good matchup for us. Cornerbacks, obviously, usually faster, more athletic. So typically not a good matchup for offenses, for tight ends, but not when you have a guy like Brock Bowers. And there's not a lot of Brock Bowers out there, obviously. What's up, AJ? D-Bud, just schematically there, do you think Brock has freedom to run whatever the guy, obviously, we don't need a one-shot. I don't mean a one-shot on me, but the corner as inside leverage there, is that why he converted out? Would he have ran a slant if he was head up or outside? That's a good question. I'm not sure. Yeah, he probably has the freedom just to, hey, whatever you want to do, this whole side is yours. But obviously him and Kirk, maybe he gave him a little signal. Maybe you have a slant. Maybe you have a sluggo. Because I wouldn't expect a sluggo if I'm a corner, if I'm pressed, especially. This is more of like an off route, but I'm pressed. The last thing I'm expecting with a tight end, even if it is Brock Bowers, is a sluggo on third and four. So it's a great job and great play design. And then once again, a great catch. And there was another catch he had in here. Obviously, with 10 catches over 100 yards, you could have had a bunch, all of them up here. But he had like an outside flood that he caught. It was unbelievable throw, unbelievable catch on the sideline. But yeah, Brock Bowers, man, he's always open. And I don't know the answer to that, AJ, but I'm sure he has the freedom to do his thing. Seemingly unguardable. That's a good situational report right there. A baby debauch. Welcome back. Brock Bowers, obviously a stud out of Georgia. Some breaking news. No welcome back to Joey Porter Jr. He will not be playing tomorrow night. Okay. Wow. Joey Porter Jr. is out for Thursday night game versus the Browns due to his back issue. Due to his back issue. So he's still got his back issue. Ramp up. Mike McCarthy was asked yesterday after full participation from Joey Porter Jr. in a Thursday night game practice lead up, which is normally just a speedy walkthrough. Asked him if that means we're going to see Joey Porter Jr. sooner than later. He goes, I hope so. It turns out it's not going to be on a Thursday night. Let's go to Hammer. Don, Don. This was expected on a short week, Tone, or what is it? What was the conversation around Joey Porter Jr. this week? Yeah, you're muted. There it is. Yeah, you're back. You're back, but because of a back, Joey Porter Jr. is not back, Tone. How do, what was the storyline about this in the Steelers camp? Was he really expected on a Thursday for first game of the season? There was hope for it. There was definitely a thought that he was going to be back. He was obviously, when you talk about the walkthrough earlier, he was listed as a full participant. I don't know if that ESPN graphic was AI or not that we talked about yesterday that said he was out because of contract, but whether it's contract or trade, I'm fully in on that now. I don't think it's, I don't think it's the back anymore. It's definitely not the back anymore. We all know it's not the back. Well, we don't know. Obviously, it says that it's his back, and maybe he is just trying to get back into shape as he didn't work out a lot of training camp and maybe in the offseason because he was hoping to get a deal done. Whenever he returned, once the season officially started, he was asked if now that the contract stuff is not going to get settled, are you going to play? He said, that's a question for my agents and the people upstairs. Sounded like not the case. He was going to be playing. Now it's kind of rolled in, continued to roll in. Now the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys allegedly have showcased a little bit of interest in bringing in Joey Porter Jr. as they wait for a potential trade partner. The Steelers, AJ, have said we don't negotiate contracts during the season. That's just kind of how it is. Now, they've broken their own rules a couple of different times now with different things, but this seems to be one they're not going to change precedent for, even though the Porter family is royalty within the Steelers organization. Yeah, they are. I mean, I can't see. I don't know. Do you see him playing for the Steelers this year? I feel like they find a way to move him. I don't know. Deebo, what are your thoughts? I want him to go there. I want him to finish his career there. I want him to be a one-helmet guy. It seems more and more unlikely as this kind of plays out, but he's a very good corner when you're a first-year defensive coordinator, Patrick Graham. Obviously, you want him out there, and then if their offense can continue playing how they played last week, I mean, the sky's the limit for that team. So I would like to see Joey Porter Jr. in that jersey. Dad, him, but I don't know. Business is business. You've got to figure it out. Yeah, hopefully they're able to figure it out. Joey Porter Jr. went to the Bengals? Or Joey Porter Sr. went to the Bengals? Dolphins. Dolphins, sorry. Had a hell of a career there. Cardinals too, right? At that point, the Cardinals were the Steelers of the West. He may have finished over there. And then James Harrison went to? He had a couple of coffees. He went to the Bengals. Yeah, New England. A couple of coffees with New England. Just known as Steelers forever. You know, sometimes it doesn't work out like that. Joey Porter Jr. is obviously. A massive piece of the secondary. You know who else is? Who? Jalen Ramsey. Brooke Pryor, ESPN Steelers reporter, is reporting that obviously Jalen Ramsey has a broken thumb. And a broken wrist, sorry. It's just going to be about seeing if I'm able to protect it and also still be myself in a good enough capacity where I feel like if I go out there, I won't be letting any of my teammates down. I need to know I can still play football. Broken wrist, pretty impactful body part for especially the way Jalen Ramsey plays football. Yes, very. I played with a broken finger, broken wrist before. And usually for players, if you can, like the pain management, if it's just pain management, you're going to get out there and play, like you said. Because you're going to be letting your guys down if you're not playing. But you can't be out there being a shell of yourself. You've got to cover guys. You've got to tackle. You've got to get hands on guys. Hopefully create some turnovers. How he plays, how violent he plays, yeah, that risk. But if you can protect it with a cast, I'm assuming, a big cast and probably a boxing glove looking type thing, I think five will find a way to fly around and stay out there. Yeah. Jalen plays on a Thursday night short week after breaking out. a wrist you know always every that's all anybody ever says on thursday night football is like hey you know short week get a mini buy on the back side of this could steal a two-week kind of rehab especially if you have a broken wrist well a broken wrist heal in two weeks like is there an amount of time that that thing will heal if we were to give him a break hopefully jalen will be out there obviously we enjoy watching him play football but no jalen no joey porter jr oh cleveland browns monken scheming up plays deshaun watson winning games in 2026. let's go to hammer don ton he's shaking in your boots with the stats of cleveland browns have been great against the steelers on thursday night football yeah they have been great against the sealers on thursday night football four and oh they've won uh seven in a row uh on thursday night football uh i think nine in a row at home uh on thursday night if i if i'm correct um they've been good but yeah big mike also great on thursday night football uh i think nine in a row at home uh on thursday night if i if i'm correct um they've been good but yeah big mike also great on thursday night i believe he's 16 and six uh the new jalen's gonna play i mean they always do they're gonna put a cast on it it is a worry against harold fannin is one of the best young tight ends in the league uh but we'll see i mean we'll see if deshaun is you know can continue this incredible streak of scoring 20 points a game and winning them so the browns are 11-1 in thursday night prime time game says tony grossy online pretty good tony grassy's the guy in the radio is that who that is that sounds right uh oh riz from cleveland is that the guy who lost his mind about miles i thought that was really leaving a good sports talk yeah good sports talk place i would love to hear what they're saying about monken oh i would love to they love this yeah have to backwards hat yeah just the way he's operating fuck that yeah exactly bronzer this is the energy we've needed yeah this is what cleveland needs at this moment get a huge win over the steelers on thursday night football three and one puppies oh my god tone 16 and six big mike mccarthy though yeah a little different team with mike mccarthy on a thursday night i think is is kind of how the stats go right tone yeah that's what i'm thinking aaron aaron is part of that stat as well i think he's 13 and six they played a lot of thursday nights together those two so they kind of got it down um but yeah i mean we'll see if the browns like i said scoring 21 and 23 against the panthers and bucks it will get it done i was quite backhanded yeah you heard it yeah i heard yeah he thinks the bronze is still the bronze yeah i don't disagree oh really you think the bronze is the bronze too no new energy over there yeah i i don't think their offense can play with good teams i really don't i think their defense is very good and that's what's kept them in games okay let's talk about offenses that are very good ladies and gentlemen it's time for top five top five top five offensive lines coming out of week three of the nfl season in the trenches with aq shipman thank you every single week you get a chance to tell us who the top five performing offensive lines were congratulations to the number 50 line jacksonville jaguar hey how come then congrats to the team down in duval yeah they're playing really good football it starts with their quarterback but it also starts up front 137 yards rushing also in at left guard they got a rookie out of oregon third round pick value pick you get a starter in the third round emmanuel pregnon has been fantastic big powerful turkey there at least and we're going to see what happens next week we're going to see left guard. I mean, he's playing incredible. Look, he puts his guy on the ground. This is a split zone right here. Massive block coming up from Brenton Strange coming back, and then Robert Hainsey one-on-one with Spillane. There's the big. You're going to wash everything frontside. You're going to cut the backside. Hainsey on the linebacker. Strange on the safety, and then you just get this toss, bend back, walk in the end zone. Just a big gaping hole. They got a good old line there, huh? Let's go to the number four performing offensive line, San Francisco 49er. Yeah, the 49ers were incredible this week. I got to watch it firsthand, and they were literally blocking the Cardinals defensive line like it was seven-on-seven purdy. Had all the time in the world, no pressure whatsoever, but whenever you look at this group, Trent Williams is out right now. They get Vidarian low, and Trent Williams has a little stinger, but we're going to look at the center, the right guard, the right tackle. Brendel, Pooney, McKivitts, they do a great job on this frontside combo. Let's look at the spotlight right here on Debo Samuel. Watch him fake as he's going to fake the crack to get the defensive end to widen. Helps his block for the tight end, Luke Farrell. You get McKivitts, and look at that hole, boys. If you want Christian McCaffrey running downhill, getting one-on-one with a safety, that's exactly how you do it. They make it easy for the boys up front. So you're telling me that the Niners, without Trent, were still able to create some big gaping holes? Shanahan's in his bag this year, and Debo's all the way back. Yeah, Debo looks incredible. He really does. Zero catches for 80 yards. I mean, what a stat line. I mean, incredible on the hook and ladder, but right there, they utilized him in so many different ways. They put him in a tailback. They got him blocking. Obviously, if you're going to play in this system, you've got to block on the edge. He does a great job faking and then still getting up on his guy, but this offensive line with Chris Furster as the offensive line coach, I mean, they are so good with Trent Williams, without Trent Williams. Great offensive line coach. Has to be. Yes, definitely has to be. Number three offensive line we saw on Monday night, the Chicago Bears. Congratulations to the Chicago Bears and Ben Johnson. Yeah, what a performance by them, obviously. Ben Johnson was fantastic. He did not hold back his play calling. As you see, you've got Colston Loveland coming in motion. You're going to steal plus one on this crack toss. Let's look at the defensive end right here. You're going to see somebody come in. There's the crack. There it is. Then you've got Colston Loveland and Big Darnell Wright out in space. They get their blocks. And then look at the left tackle, Braxton Jones. He gets the seal block. Boom. Cut back. That's what creates the home run. That backside block always gives you that extra push. Swift with the vision and obviously the explosion to be able to accomplish that. They got a real problem with that two-headed monster A.J. Hawk. Yeah, how do you stop them? Obviously, Case Keenan was rolling, but yeah, their run game wasn't even that good this game, I feel like, and the Bears still found a way. Yeah, the run game, I mean, a non-guy barely got going. Swift did get going a bit, but it was Case Keenan all day. Look at that picture right there. That picture was paused. They were all in great position downfield. Like, man, yeah. Bears' line has been rolling. It is. It's poetry in motion when you watch them because everybody switches a few assignments. They get the crack block. They get this guy replacing that guy, and then obviously the way that the offensive line blocks, but hey, newsflash, guys. Invest in your offensive line, and you're going to become a good football team. Or just, you know, Ben Johnson scheme everything up to be magical, and you're going to become a good football team. What a coach. What a time. Case Keenan, what a run. Good for him. Speaking of run, it might be a new one. Congratulations to the number two performing offensive line coming out of week three of the NFL season. Listen to this. Pittsburgh Steelers. Whoa! Tony! Tony, congrats. Big Nicky skates back there. Congratulations to all Yinzers fans. I think you're excited to hear about this. Yeah, listen, I was super pumped to turn on this film, and obviously it started with the first play of the game. We talked about it earlier on the takeaway, and listen, it starts up front. They replaced the right side of their offensive line. Check this out. You get the rookie, Nowakowski, the fullback out of Indiana, is going to go in motion. We call this escort motion. He's going to help Big Darnell write all 300 and 50 pounds at tight end right there. He's going to bang his guy out to help Darnell write as he climbs to the next level. Look at the combo block between Mason McCormick and Troy Fataanu. They do a great job getting on their guys, and then boom, Jalen Warren. What a day. 17 for 127, and he had a big run called back. Jalen Warren's always been the most explosive running back they've had for like five years now. It feels like every time he gets the ball, something magical happens. It feels like Mike McCarthy's investing in him being number one running back. I also love the fact that Nowakowski is double teaming with what did I say? Did I say Darnell Wright? Yeah. Darnell Washington. I got the Bears still on my mind. I apologize. Mount Washington. Yeah, there it is. He obviously gets the ball out in space, runs some people over, and is a blocking machine, an extension of left tackle. They moved and changed the entire right side of the line. You like that move, it sounds like. I love that move. Listen, Brock Hoffman comes over from the Dallas Cowboys. He was fantastic, and I'm going to tell you what. Max, he had a not sure. There it is. It was unbelievable. First play of the game, he chops the guy down, gets a knockdown, plays with extension. He's long. He is raw. He's not played a ton of football. He's only going to get better every single week, but he was great. They were big fans of his whenever we walked around the building. Do you remember that tone when we were walking around the facility on draft day whenever we were trying to figure out who the hell the Steelers were going to take? You know who the Steelers were going to take? We're trying to get a little inside information. On the way out to Bill Cowher, his name was dropped. Like, hey, we really like. We worked him out. He's a good guy. He's got a good work ethic. He's got everything you need. And then later, whenever the draft happened, a lot of people were like, wow, the Steelers are drafting somebody. Tony, you want to rake the bat? They're like, no, they love him in the building. He gets his first chance to shine for you guys. Seems like it's much better now than it was. Yeah, we were talking on that draft night. We were like talking about O'Lyman and stuff like that because there was a good indicator that they were probably going to go with the offensive line, and we did not bring him up, and they brought him up to us. So, yes, not a surprise that they went there. Obviously, use a first-round pick on him. Use a first-round pick on Troy Fa'atano, who's the left tackle now. Use a second-round pick on Zach Frazier, and AQ just talked about investing in the offensive line. McCormick was a third or fourth-round pick there out of South Dakota State. So, yeah, they've invested in the offensive line. They replaced the two on the right side, and it literally changed everything last week, and I believe this is the first time that Steelers have been in the trenches, so it's basically winning the Super Bowl. Yeah, definitely winning the Super Bowl in the trenches, especially with how this season is seemingly looking. If you have a good line, you're probably going to win a bunch of games. If you don't have a line, it feels like you're probably blocked. Now, the number one offensive line coming out of week three of the NFL season in the trenches with AQ Shipley, the Atlanta Falcons. wow congratulations down there in georgia b john robinson's old line's going crazy it was incredible rushes for over 190 yards they had 242 yards rushing as a team but again this is how you go from last to first shit to the best and right here we always start with chris lindstrom he is the guy we get the motion we're gonna we're gonna run this little zone play this is incredible to watch when you see this watch drake london as he goes you get the motion he's going to replace there it is now you just gained plus one on the front side chris lindstrom gets his head front side watch him just take his backside arm and again you're going to see the center come in here and get the nice block on zio franklin but again chris lindstrom backside hand is going to just torque i'm going to say it right this week torque get his left hand and boom buries him down and give him the whole ryan news with the center does a great job you backside between bergeron and uh jake matthews was unbelievable too but they have such a good offensive line and this is how you go from being the worst team to the best team very quickly you start with your offensive line you get the run game going and it starts with chris lindstrom he's been the guy he's a hundred million dollar guard really good player and then bijon robinson you give him one cut and he can go hundred million dollar guard that's a lot of money for the interior of an offensive line obviously it's paying off for kevin stefanski uh d but they were the worst team in ball yeah shite division a week ago to what aq's point is if you can block and you got bijon behind you it feels like good things are going to happen for the falcons absolutely always starts in the trenches getting their quarterback back was was a big deal as well you can get uh let those special players be special but bijon i mean just watching it looks so effortless so smooth like his vision his ability to cut back obviously drake london on the outside as well but yeah when you when you have a superstar stud like seven back there you just get the ball you get the trenches block for him and just feed the stud and panics by the way yeah yeah i bought his ropes how about it well with bijon what happens aj with good run game what do you mean linebackers can get sucked up sometimes for play action i know that yeah and panics can layer like that he can layer so that that is a mass i don't know what drill they do at the combine or these workouts but with the way this is all heading with all these different offenses that try to get the run game established run game which is all the good offenses right now and everybody's trying to mimic them the play action is all of a sudden all the way back if a quarterback can get it over the linebacker in front of the safety and on the opposite side of the corner can make 70 million a year yeah in the nfl right now that is just literally how it goes if you can't get that thing to turn over you got no shot it don't matter if you got a rocket arm like you got a rocket arm you gotta be able to make those throws you gotta be able to get that thing up and down very quick that thing has to right in there in tight ends you know there's two of them three of them on the field austin hooper right there scoring a touchdown two or three of them on the field for every single team obviously that helps with the blocking because they're bigger bodies they're an extension of the offensive line but they're gonna feast i mean tight ends are about to have more yards than they've had ever since the tight end evolution has happened because it's been a lot of like sprint out air raid type offenses with this new tight end kind of evolution that has taken place now with the regain of play action shit that's like that's where the actual that is just i mean yeah there's literally a big gaping hole for tight ends to just kind of sit it literally right over a.j and other linebackers dumb heads just right behind them right and there's nothing they can do about it there's literally nothing i'm worried about bijan running me over i gotta get downhill and take that double team off my d lineman that's that's got to be a good thing to know all the tight ends are at that tight end you are you starting to notice a little bit of a trend yeah we're wide ass open again yeah yeah it hasn't been like this normally they've had to work now it's like they're going to be open and congratulations to atlanta falcons the defense has got to try to match too because defenses kind of just uh just kept getting smaller and smaller the backers the the nickels so nichols basically became a starters for most team but now you got to go back old school kind of aj hawk days where bigger linebackers on the field to match these because that's that raiders 81 of the time you going out there with multiple tight ends like that's crazy crazy so that means smaller body to cover but smaller body can't cover big body like brock bowers and also if brock bowers comes in and is blocking you got smaller body just getting railroaded trying to catch up and this is why philosophies have come back to pounding the rock potentially yep did the philadelphia eagles catapult this type of style back into the world whenever they won i mean i'm sure they had something to do with it they had a big say in the run game but i'm telling you mcveigh's the one who started all this three tight end stuff i mean the 13 personnel stuff it started with the year before where none of the tight ends could block and everybody was doing the 6-0 line stuff right remember that then it went to the 13 personnel and where they've gotten really good at and that's what every single one of these teams are doing half the league's got some extension or some pedigree of shanahan mcveigh's world and so what they've done a good job of is back in the day aj you remember that you would have a tight end on a d end and they would just get pressed four yards in the backfield not anymore they're doing such a good job of getting these guys running starts so that now they have a running start to go run their head into cleo mac they get them in motion and they block everybody down then they get a kick out as opposed to putting them on the line so you're getting to you're getting to the play the exact same way but you're getting a head start for these guys can you tell me about big mike sending and then uh who else did it uh the week before somebody else the c gap insert stuff the bears did it for a touchdown they sent two through the bird and went through there mcveigh mcveigh is the one who kind of started it same thing having the receivers block with puka make it look like you're running duo because whenever you run duo that wide receiver has to motion in they call that whatever z find or whatever he has to motion in and then take care of the safety well they make it look like that oath to the defense it looks like oh he's just going to block the safety they're going to run duo and then he runs the seven route on the play action yeah such a there always is so much deception yeah isn't it deceptive league everything's a deception that's why if you're swinging that good d you should be proud of yourself you know what i mean aj i know i tell you what though if you're a defender and you see puka inserting in the b or c gap someone's got to knock him down don't want to get to that seven yeah we lineman scares get over here even though they're obviously uh held up on somebody else need them to see it clothesline jbl or tackle them you can tackle them yeah you're maybe leg like they're doing uh to dexter lauren have you seen a chip like that on dicks i've never seen i've never seen it on a nose guard ever in my life like i i we were talking about it with some of the o-line guys that i talked to on monday and tuesday and it's like okay i remember it through the b gap on three techniques aaron donald or gerald mccoy when he was doing it right like you got these really good three techs i've never seen it through the a gap that was the first time ever i like big mike mccarthy saying yeah hey ducks got a lot of respect for you this is how much respect i have for you actually we're gonna take our six foot seven 330 pound tight end he's gonna be lined up at fullback and uh he's just the only thing he's doing is trying to just like hurt you right now that is all he's trying to do that's it dexy still eats in there somehow though send a message yeah he gets a little pressure late but again sending a message we're gonna we're gonna let him feel it on the first play of the game i like this out of big mike i like that a lot actually now that you said it's never happened before never like the innovation of ball that's kind of happening right in front of us because there's so many analytics and people that have just been addicted to ball their entire lives yeah we got you zach yeah go ahead and let let dexy think he's one-on-one tell him oh he's got to be dancing look how much room guards shooting out yep tackle shooting out dexter lawrence thinks this is going to be the easiest day in the history of ball for him off that snap yeah holy fuck they're going one-on-one with me with the center i'm about to just eat today yeah gets around there and then what the fuck was that look over at big mike yeah yeah all day guys just coming in at you bud that's how this is going to be uh i like where the bangles are at very good love where the steelers are at but i only like a team if they got good d okay can win in the trenches that's right but inevitably defense that's right but inevitably defense wins championships wins championships wins championships who's the d that compound its way who's the d that compound its way who's the d that leonard's deep buffalo yeah buffalo and leonard's deep buffalo yeah we're gonna start with buffalo and we're gonna start with buffalo and we're gonna start with buffalo and listen we you talked about deception listen we you talked about deception listen we you talked about deception usually a lot of these interceptions usually a lot of these interceptions usually a lot of these interceptions they start with deception right you're they start with deception right you're they start with deception right you're talking about showing middle clothes talking about showing middle clothes talking about showing middle clothes rotates the middle open showing the rotates the middle open showing the rotates the middle open showing the open rotate the middle clothes whatever it open rotate the middle clothes whatever it open rotate the middle clothes whatever it is this ain't that much deception and i is this ain't that much deception and i is this ain't that much deception and i think brady i think he was catching some some slack for whatever reason calling this a meatball sub i believe this pick right here but you got cj gj just sitting in the middle of the field just eyeing the quarterback post safety all the receivers down here kind of in a tight split so you don't have that much space if you're going to run to that middle of the field usually that just eliminates that route pre-snap nope not for justin herbert don't know what he's seeing don't know what he's feeling but he threw the ball right between the tools for cj gj we talk about all the time you got to catch the ones they throw to you he absolutely did just once again the receiver you're not as that's post safety this is like a a practice rep a script for success type things like you never see this from quarterbacks especially quarterbacks of justin herbert's caliber so just too easy of an interception for cj gj fourth quarter that's tough that's clutch three point game at that point third down man cj gj was brought in for a little bit of sauce on the defensive side instead getting huge turnovers justin herbert and his uh chargers offense broken or is this just great great d all over their family i mean it's broken right now and he just doesn't doesn't look confident it doesn't look confident same thing with drake may just you don't see the confidence you don't see the conviction as McDonough always say, and, like, this is, like, day one stuff. I don't care who's coaching. I don't care what, like, you're not throwing that into a post-safety with no other threats out there, nothing occupying him. So too easy, too easy of a pick for CJGJ. Herbert, McDonough, they got to figure it out, and they got to figure it out quick. Who else had good D? The next one. Whoa. Duvall putting the D in Duvall down there. So it all comes down to communication, especially down here in this goal line area. Things happen very, very quickly. So up there, hey, we got three guys. We're trying to cover these three guys. But we see a play action and a sprint. And a lot of times it's that flat defender that gets beat, that gets out leveraged. It's going to be the running back. The running back is going to jump in here late and get to the flat. But the Jaguars do a great job communicating this. You see all the verbal and nonverbal communication. So when you pause it here, everybody's matched up. He's trying to get to the flat. Nope, have leverage on him. And now Chisholm. Chisholm has to run the sever route. We always talk about sprint out. So the quarterback has an option to run. You can throw that flat. The seven is the last option or that crosser backside. Drake May tries to throw back across his body. Travis Hunter, Chisholm, Efton Chisholm. That's a very good matchup for the Jacksonville Jaguars. I would take that 10 out of 10. He throws it. Travis Hunter got his first interception. Not sure if he ever got this football back, the real football at least. But big time, big time play. I love that yellow jacket at any security event. Acting like he has any say in anything at that time. People's minds making themselves believe they are something that they're certainly not. Unbelievable. Happy that the lads all want to bat for Travis. And I also like the fact that Travis Hunter playing on both sides of the ball with the package. This takes a lot of work to be able to communicate all this, right? Isn't this a lot of chemistry? Absolutely. This is why you don't see a lot of guys playing both ways. This is why you don't see anybody playing both ways because this is meeting. This is communication. A lot of times, defensively, it's nonverbal and verbal communication. A lot of times, you can't hear each other. So if you just rewind it back to right before the snap, you'll see, I believe it's 29. He's pointing. That's probably like a sky call. I'm not sure what the call is, but that's letting them know a little bit more. That's letting them know, even if you can't hear me, this signal, you know what this signal means. So that communication is very, very key. And things happen so fast, especially down here. But going to the offensive side, once again, you're down 11. You're in scoring range. It's third and two. Take the points. Take the field. Maybe even go for it, fourth and two. Just throw this away. You cannot throw this back across your body big time, seeing you getting pressure in your face. Got to make better decisions, Drake, man. Con man. He was supposed to be wide-ass open. They weren't supposed to be on the same page like they were. Who was supposed to be wide-ass open on this flat corner cross route with Matt Collins blocking on the edge? I mean, the worst part about this is last year, the red zone offense was abysmal. They were a very good team. But no matter what, if there's one thing you can't do, it's the defense. If you can point to, like, hey, this needs to be better, it would be their red zone goal-to-go offense. Where's Romeo Dobbs? Paid him $60 million. He's not on the field. That's weird. And then where the hell is Hunter Henry? Hunter Henry's running backside or running a screen on the goal line. It's just madness. It is what it is. End of the day, got to throw it away. Either take the points. You can't throw an interception for sure, but still just dogshit offense. Yeah, the Patriots fans aren't pumped about their offense. I assume he'll get out of it and they'll figure it out. I assume. I would bet on that before I bet on, yeah, we're going to go 4-13. Well, I hope that doesn't happen for you. I hope it doesn't happen either. Bills this weekend. I can't. It's a tough start to the season. 1-3 was always – 0-4 was worst-case scenario. 1-3 was a possibility. That's why I'm not hitting the panic button at the end of September. All right, I respect that. I never heard that out of your mouth. We did a breakdown and hammered down. I mean, when you go Seattle, raise the banner. Pittsburgh at home, that was one you got to get. At Jags, that was a, hey, how do the Jags look early? They've looked great. And then at Buffalo, there was – it was a possibility. Got to go now, though. Yeah, I'd say. Who else had some good D.D. buzz? The New York football giants. Wow. Yeah, up there in that Nor'easterly. Look, you just got to find a way to get a game. And Javon Holland, even in their loss, he has been playing some tremendous, tremendous football. But here's a rookie, Arvel Reese. So this is kind of going to be – both of these guys have a big impact on this play. Cam Ward, once again, his first down down here. The game is in the balance. You're down five. You can't make this play. Arvel Reese does a great job pointing and passing off that crosser and basically becomes the spy or the low-hold defender. So he's chasing Cam Ward. Cam Ward knows he's not going to beat him to the boundary or to the end zone. So Cam makes a terrible decision here. And Javon Holland takes full advantage of it. He's back there once again in post-safety. You're just reading attention. You're reading routes. You're feeling it. He breaks a pocket. Just stay in the window. Stay in the window. Get in the window. Get a pick. Get on a knee. Get the hell out of there with a win. So a big-time play by Javon Holland. He's been making them with punch-outs, with picks. He's been tremendous this year. First and seven here. First and seven. Like, five-point game. 24 seconds left? Yeah. This is just almost as bad as Dak Prescott throwing the ball away so fast out the corner of the end zone there whenever they call the timeout with 14. Not that Dak Prescott is on the same here. Dak Prescott has had a lot of success in the NFL. But this reminds me of the – what was the show that followed Cam Ward last year as a quarterback? Quarterback. Yeah. Quarterback. He tells Callahan, okay, hey, let's go for it. I won't take a sack. You know, I understand what we're doing. Let me throw this thing. Takes a sack. Gets out of field goal range. I think that's turnover. The other team wins. You know, he just kind of moves along. It's like he's a young guy. He'll learn his lesson. It's like first and seven right now. You're winning this. You should win this game. You're going to win this game. Salah and Debo are like, man, our team's ass. But we got a chance to come in here in the nor'easter and beat the New York football giants who also have a backup quarterback and have played like ass here. We can get out of the shite division. And instead, it's just like he might be able to run that in. Yeah. So, Arville, he would definitely catch him before he got to the end zone. But he could run out of bounds and probably pick up three or four yards, which is much better. I mean, anything is better than this. You look at all three of these interceptions so far. Justin Herbert, you're in striking distance. It's a one-possession game. Drake May, you're in striking distance. And then here, you have a chance to win the ball game. So, this is what the great quarterbacks don't do. They had a timeout left, too. They could have had a timeout. They could have run. They could have ran and taken a timeout. Tennessee had a timeout? Yeah. Man, I'm learning here in real time. I apologize for not watching the entirety of this entire situation, which is why I'm excited that you're breaking it down. I love Cam Ward. I like Cam Ward telling Shador Sanders in workouts that I'm about work, I'm not about all the bullshit. I like what Cam Ward did from Incarnate Word to Washington State to Miami. I like that Cam Ward's dad and mom have come out and said, our boy just likes football. That's all he wants to do is football. I like how much mocks he has. I like how much shit he talks. I like how good of a leader he is. But Jesus Christ. I mean, that is a – that's a fireable offense if you're a veteran quarterback. Yeah. I mean, like actually. It comes down to decision making. I think it was Dan O that might have said it about avoiding bogeys or avoiding double bogeys and not so much making birdies. This is a great example of that. Like, just throw it away. Just get another down. Figure it out. Like, you can't have – this is a game-losing play. And then on the flip side, we talk about it all the time, catch the ones they throw to you. This is a shitty way to play. This is a shitty weather game. You're a DB. You can drop this, and now it's second and seven from the goal line. But instead, Javon Holland makes a play, and it's a game-winning play. This is why you pay those, you know, big-time players to make big-time plays in big-time games. Javon Holland. Absurd start. All pros start. All pros so far. Yeah, Hall of Fame start almost. Great start to the season. He's had what? At least one turnover in every game thus far. He had two against the Rams. They lose. Has a pick and a punch out against them. I think he's created four so far this season through three games. He had that sliding pick against the Cowboys. It was filthy. Unbelievable. To start it, you know. Dan Orlovsky tweeted in, Today's NFL, the best QBs now are bogey avoiders, not birdie makers. Okay. All right, Dan. That's a good point. Stay in wisdom right there. Well, I think because he's such a fan of all these offenses, it's like, hey, you don't have to fucking. You don't got to go win it. Just do what the offense is supposed to do. Okay, you're supposed to look here. That guy's covered. Sick. You're looking here. That guy's covered. Sweet. We're dropping it off to here. We're on to the next one. We don't need you. You know, we don't need that. We just need you to do the offense that is drawn up, which goes to, you know, all the older quarterbacks saying, like, there's a lot less thinking in this particular form of football. But Dan Orlovsky said a lot more thinking because they're having to get through their reads a lot quicker than maybe old school quarterbacks had to. So it's certainly a lot mentally for these quarterbacks, different than what it used to be where guys were out there, like, freestyling almost, you know, trying to figure out what it was and how it was. Now it's all just more methodical, but you got to execute, right? Well, yeah, and I think the biggest thing from the quarterbacks of the early 2000s and before, right, was those guys all understood protection. I'm not so sure today's quarterbacks all understand protection. Far too often in these first three weeks I turn on film and free hitters are coming and they don't know a free hitter's coming. Who took a big time shot? Aaron first week, or was that first week? Last week. Oh, yeah, Patriots. Somebody came around. I saw somebody get one from out here, too. Maybe it was preseason. Love's taking about 30 big shots through three weeks here. Some of these quarterbacks are taking some big shots. Dart on the injury. I mean, he got squished. Jalen on Monday night. I was talking to somebody. I could forget what they did. Jalen got fucked. Smacked. But they told me, like, they think five quarterbacks, I think Max handled it. - A hundred percent. - You agree with that? - Yeah, it might be less than five. - That's crazy. Stafford? I would assume Stafford. Rodgers? Mahomes? Mahomes. Really? With Creed even? Yeah. Lamar? Yeah, because, like, I don't know if Lamar does. Purdy? I don't know if Purdy does. Is Josh? That was one of Brady's big things with Josh is protections. Okay, so probably Josh. Saying he does know or he doesn't? He was kind of – I think he was calling one of his games and he was, like, pissed off basically that Josh is not getting the protection. So maybe he doesn't. Maybe he doesn't. Because Aaron's big thing to us – Kirk Cousins probably does. Sweet. Maybe that means Fernando will whenever he gets in there. You can tell Kirk plays that he knows exactly what the box is. So Aaron said that he actually looks from the front back whenever he's trying to figure out what the defense is. He looks at the front back. The front will tell you a lot to these guys. I used to write in my notes all the time, under there is no wonder, right? So I used to write that all the time. So if you've got an under front and this team is typically an over front more often than not, the reason they're in an under is because something's coming. That's a tell. Huge. Huge. There's no wonder with the under on this particular team. Did anybody listen to that? I mean, it was preached in Bruce Arian's system. Like, Harold Goodwin would say that almost every meeting. Under, there is no wonder. Goody. How is Goody? He's Carolina? Carolina. They're doing well. It's a good football team. How's B.A. doing? I think he's living. I think so, too. I saw him on – he did Kay's show, I believe, the other day. I hope he's great. Yeah. He was at the Hall of Fame. I saw him at the Hall of Fame. Living. Living. B.A. Cocktail in hand. How does he feel about this modern offense, do you think? I'm sure he hates it. All the – I just – like, he had an answer for everything, and I don't think in today's offenses there's an answer for everything. You can – some players just fuck it. We're going to lose this one. Yep. And then we're going to move on. Yeah, whereas, like, in his offense and, like, the old school offenses, you had an answer for protection, and if you didn't, it was a hot or there was a site. Right? Like, there was always an answer. There was always an answer. Even if you couldn't pick it up, there was an answer. Is Case Keenum calling out the defense and the protection? I think so. Probably. 11 for 11 against the Blitz. Does he even need to? Does Ben Johnson just have that all baked into the play? Just dialed in? He calls the play and just everything's handled for him. Just one word? Throw it here. White glove service. Yeah, exactly. He does feel like that is what he does. Yeah. Guy's outrageous, bro. The beginning of that fucking game, the first five, six plays just being, like, perfect, easy. It's like, of course, this is Ben Johnson. He's like a Hall of Famer. Yeah, and then the second half comes out and he – Same thing, yeah. It was – Impressive. Is that going to continue now that you guys got a full book on him again, now that he's 38 years old? Will that happen? That's the thing. Can you stay healthy, number one, at that age? And obviously figuring things out, avoiding hits, that'll help you. But, you know, at some point, you kind of find out why a backup quarterback is a backup quarterback. That's just what time does. It's rarely do you have a guy get in there and just go on a run and become a Super Bowl champion or a deep playoff run. It happens. Nick Foles. Yeah, Nick Foles. A couple guys probably come to mind, but rarely does it happen. But I'm hoping for the best for Case. Yeah, me too. And Caleb's going to be back. Mm-hmm. Caleb looked happy for Case, which I appreciate. Yep. And then good, better, best. Never let it rest. Till your good is better and your better is best. Maybe that's why they go back, man, this week. Huh? Maybe that's why they go back. I'm the bag man this week, just to kind of fuck with everybody. Oh, you were preparing for Case Keenum? Yeah, okay. Here's the bag man. Agent's a hooper. I want to see him play bad. Me too. He is. Yeah. He's super tall, very athletic. He's got a howitzer. Huge arm, incredible athlete. Dad, obviously, dog. Mm-hmm. Through and through. West Virginia guy. Nice to talk to him. Had those canes on. Oh, really? Those cane recovery shoes. So he's always thinking about the future, I believe. Okay. Have you seen these things? No. They sent us 1,000 of them. And they're like the new Crocs. Oh, oh, I did. Yeah, Zeke threw them on. They're like the modern Crocs. I did. You'd probably love them if I had to guess. They look like they are right down your avenue of shoes. Yeah, I've worn them on the show before, right? What, a year or two ago? I think I wore them. Yeah, I remember. Yeah, of course. You're supposed to get us all a pair. After those goofball ones. Well, I'm telling you, they sent the full shoe version, but they have a Croc version. The Croc version with no back. I mean, that's the one. Oh, yeah? That's the one. So it's just permanent sport mode. Yeah, permanent. As opposed to just chill mode. It's hard to get those on daughter's feet today. She did not want to put shoes on. Boy, that was a real problem. Oh, I thought Crocs go in. I thought casual, cool mode without the back straps was the way. Yep, no doubt. She didn't want to. She kicked them off. I said, all right, we'll strap them up. I guess we'll go to sport mode. She goes, get these off me. I go, all right. No shoes to school today. Sweet. And obviously, weren't allowed to do that. She had to have shoes on. So I had to figure that whole thing out. I was getting to the bottom of it. Thank you to Kane for sending us 1,000 pairs of these right here. This is very kind of you guys. Thank you. Hell yeah. All West Virginia ones. Hell yeah. Would have been good about a week, two weeks ago. What happened? We lost to Oklahoma State. Got messed and makered. We did get messed and makered. That don't happen. That's a good football team. Yeah. That's a fucking good football team. You know Morris, right, Eric, out of North Texas? Yep. Oh, yeah. That guy's a good football coach. Yeah. I figured out they walked right into Morgantown. I mean, that was supposed to be. Yeah, welcome to the club. How'd that work out for you guys? Not good. He went to Luke Fickle in Wisconsin. Yeah, Luke Fickle. Pretty good. They needed it. T.Y.O.'s son. Yeah, he had a touchdown. Yeah, Warren. Trestle's son's the coordinator. I mean. Not a son, but yeah. Whatever it is. He's a Trestle. What is he? You don't fucking know. Mike Trestle, I believe. There it is. What is he? Jim's brother? Nephew. Nephew. Oh, a nephew. Okay. Sure. I didn't know if it was his brother. It's all the Ohio State ties. That's fickle. He's got all his Ohio State guys. And what did they do to you? They just walked in and just. They were down 17-0, came back, and just walked it off. 17-0? Are you a little. Here's T.Y. Hilton's boys. Touchdown on Peacock as Wisconsin traveled into Penn State this past weekend and got a huge win, third and 10. Quarterback for Wisconsin. Fakes the handoff. Drops back. Spins it. T.Y. Hilton's kid says, have you seen anybody in my family do this exact catch here? Yeah, I have. And then he did a little sauce on top. What a catch. Oh, yeah. What a route. Big moment. Yeah. Three-thirty to fourth. I mean, he routed. Scored two minutes later to win it. Yeah. I mean, your guy was in chase mode. No chance. No chance. Should have known immediately. T.Y. Hilton's kid's going to fucking definitely outrun me to the sideline right here. Then under a minute left, they hit the tight end down the middle on a seam ball. There's not a defender within 30 yards. What happened? Is everything okay? I don't know, dude. I don't know what happened. Have you lost your hope? No, but they got Northwestern in the new stadium this week. Northwestern played Indiana. Look out. Big 10. Big 10's a different animal. That's right. Big 10's really deep. Well said, AQ. They're trying to plant those seeds right now, everybody. Everybody's trying to plant those seeds. They have added strength of schedule as a thing to talk about in the CFP last week, I think. Yeah. Huge for the Hawks. I don't know how. Their strength of record's fifth in the country. What? I have no idea how, but I love it. Who'd you play? Michigan, big win? Michigan, big win. Pesky, pesky bunch in Iowa State. UNI, who's a 1AA darling, although they suck this year. And then Northern Illinois, who might be the worst team in D1. If you guys have the fifth. Number five. Number five. Yeah. It's crazy. When the CFP thing starts referencing this, anyway. Strength of schedule, strength of record. It's about time they created some fucking bullshit statistic that favors Iowa, because nothing ever does. We'll see if by the end of the year it favors, you know, because the conversation about how many ranked teams you play, that all changes at the end whenever we find out who these teams actually are. A lot of projected top teams at this point, let alone what they're going to be at the end of the year. Big Ten feels good about where they're at. The SEC this year feels very good about where they are this year. You know, Georgia Bulldogs potentially on top of the entire hall. Texas is the number one team in the country. Huge win in Tennessee. But are they going to? Big Ten and the SEC both? You guys going to cannibalize each other all season long? See each other up and then look out. The Big 12 potentially gets a little bit. No, no. I don't think so. The Big Ten and the SEC certainly are not worried about that. But. Oh, I'm sorry. Maybe the ACC starts cooking up a little bit. They got. I think they got one good team. Virginia Tech. Four and O. Maybe. Oh. Hi, Michael. Hey, Michael. I need another one of those. Okay. You can't do that week two and then just never do it again. Still undefeated, though. I know. I know. So we're going to. So the real James Franklin is going to start cooking here. They're playing somebody this weekend. Pittsburgh. Both four and O. Friday night. First time. Is it first time? Tone, I forget what the year is. First. Go ahead. Go ahead. First time ever that two P4 teams are four and O, both unranked, facing each other. Yeah. Power four conference, obviously. Ranking on the line. Undefeated. Yeah. Maybe. Maybe if they're going to show any respect to either of those teams. Rank game. I mean, that is certainly something that would have to happen. I appreciated that stat that Reese gave us yesterday. 68% of the AP voters are not associated with the SEC. Now, do they have some sort of tie potentially in the past? Maybe. But I guess 30% or something like that is SEC relation. And then a lot of people are saying, that's a lot of fuck. That's a high percentage. It is. Yeah, it is. College football, though, in the South for so long. And I'm not saying that it isn't in the North, because obviously I grew up in Pennsylvania around Penn State cult fans and everything. AJ grew up in. ohio wanting to be an ohio state fan they are michigan hundreds of thousands i'm not saying that there isn't northern schools that are certainly all in on college football and stuff like that but down the south all those fuckers they live and die like it was everything they had for so long so i think they did kind of i want to say carry the culture of college football but i think they did for a very long time now it is awesome to see northwestern getting a new stadium yeah it's fucking amazing incredible like i love to see that more investment into college football and then you got obviously oregon's always going to be a threat out there ucla's becoming a team yeah ucla's coming to the team they're doing the jmu method they got uh kenny chesney out there coaching straight out of jmu bob boys of the fall they are the boys of fall they're the jmu boys of fall coming over to ucla and they pound the rock they could win like if ucla gets back in there it's like i like seeing the school indiana yeah becoming a college football program out of nowhere is awesome i think college football is much more you. Spread out just like most of the talent is more spread out because of everything we're at right now but for a long time i think the south did have a lot of say in what was happening in college focus it was kind of like their thing for a long time still is let's not get crazy i was just down in the fucking eighth largest stadium in the world yeah 102 000 people were in there all day getting ready for that game week before at old miss it was like there's tents that have been tailgating in certain spots for like 70 years straight a family has been doing it forever so i do believe that the sec in the south will always have a say in what happens in college football but the 68 number outside of the south i think was a number that reese would like people to hear like hey listen there's other fuckers voting on this as well it's not just the south and yes i do have a vote and i am a graduate of alabama but on that note there is a lot of others who are not graduates of alabama i like that clarification that was good journalism i thought yeah for sure also good use of stats because 68 sounds good but if you were to flip it over to the south you'd be like oh my god i'm not from the sec if you were to flip it and say hey 32 of them are from the sec you can make that argument like how come a third of the people are the ones from the sec making these decisions so saying 68 was genius but it is very it's it's close but also who cares because none of them matter to the cfp comes out well yeah well it does matter because does it count as a ranked win if the team was ranked at the time in which you beat them versus what they inevitably became so does the pre-season bias actually become something that affects long-term postseason outcomes you know and that's why college football is the greatest never be able to figure it out no because iowa has the fifth hardest schedule and they die just listen to the teams they play so texas gotta have number one i can't i think i'm pretty sure it was four sec schools and then i was five and wisconsin was right there they were like seven maybe i mean texas in to reese's point i had to show respect for the resume they beat ohio state they just beat tennessee at tennessee i mean that is you have to give them respect but they have not looked it's once again four weeks into the season they are not their best version of themselves yet i think reese says i don't we still don't know who the number one team is it's how reese is viewing it and i guess that'll change every single week just like the shite division does i think we have one more one more that we need to get to because if we don't showcase this team we're doing a vast disservice to great d up there at mile high yeah unbelievable game for sunday night football with hufanga now pick six big pick six three point game at this point in the fourth quarter pressure bust pipes because you put the pressure on matt stafford when stafford is protected which he usually is you talk about the tight end says like you don't get a ton of pressure on matt stafford typically but this time they do and it's a good thing that the broncos did because it was guys back here running wide ass open from the bottom in the middle of the field you pause it here you got a touchdown in the middle of the field you got four wide open going to the flat you got higby down here wide open as well but with all that pressure in your face you got a free hitter and nine face he lets the ball go hufanga does it hufanga does a great job reading it breaking can't be late to the flat can't be behind the guy great great job but once again if that pressure doesn't get home this doesn't get here but big time play this is why you send the pressure this is why you have a playmaker back there and he basically i mean i wouldn't say sealed the game obviously the ram still had a chance late we had the bullshit pi calling the other penalties so there were other opportunities but this was a big big turning point in the game for pick six hufanga had a hell of a week congratulations to him i love seeing good d out on his field i know you do too aq i love seeing good d right here this is a good blitz and the rams actually did a nice job picking this up they leave the widest for stafford he just threw behind him to the flat and hufanga says give me that wins the game has a pick six that's
